What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Initial Research When we conducted our initial research before knowing what song we were going to use for our music video, we conducted a questionnaire to try and find out what sort of things people would like to see in the video. When we conducted this research we had already decided on using the RnB genre. The graphs on the next slide show the outcome of some of the questions that were asked. This information gave us an insight into what people would like to see in a music video so we knew what to include to attract our target audience. We found that the artist that people most associated with RnB is Usher, so to show the theme of RnB in our ancillary tasks, we used a colour scheme of Black and Gold as Usher uses colour in his videos/album covers which portrays RnB.

Focus Group We found that the main age range of people who watch RnB music videos on youtube are in the 13-17 group. We decided that our target audience would also be that age group, and as we knew people in this age range we asked them what they want to see in our music video. We gave them questionnaires, asked them to watch videos and say what they liked and didn’t like and give suggestions on how we could make our video better. Our focus group agreed that in our video they would like to see a clear narrative, in our video we tried to do this however we know that we could have added in more footage of the girl the main singer was singing about. Not many people would liked to have seen a lot of dancing in our music video so the only kind of ‘dancing’ we had in our video was when the main singer was moving to the beat in the recording studio. We had the main singer in clothes associated with RnB as our focus group would have liked to see good clothing in our video.
Audience Feedback to Music Video Once we uploaded our music video on to youtube, we put it on our facebook profiles for people to give us feedback. We also created a questionnaire and handed it out to the people in our media class to fill in. Once our media class had filled in the questionnaire we also asked others to watch our video and fill in the questionnaire. On the next slide is one of our filled in questionnaires.

To reach our audience in the marketing of our video we would add fashion to attract, as viewers enjoy seeing videos where the fashion is good. In our album cover, we used a colour scheme of black and gold. When marketing this video we would use this colour scheme in a way that the audience would see black and gold and immediately think of our video.
