2. Who would be the audience for your media
product?
• The target audience for our media film is teenagers and young adults,
so from around 15-25. We chose teenagers and young adults because
they are generally students, this means that they will have spare time
to go see our movie. They are also shown to have the most
imagination meaning that they will enjoy being puzzled by the murder
mystery. Another reason why this age group would be good for a
thriller film is because this is usually the age of the characters in a
thriller film, this makes the film come across as more realistic because
the audience my relate to some of the characters.
3. Gender
• Our films protagonists are all female, this means that our film is more
likely to attract a female audience. This is good because research also
shows that the thriller genre has a slightly female skew. This means
that our full female cast conforms to this so we will attract this slightly
larger audience.
4. Habits and lifestyle
• The aim for our media product was to get people thinking about who
the unknown killer might be. This would hopefully engage an
audience that are interested in murder mysteries and enjoy looking
into things like this. This would mean that the audience can become
more immersed in our film.
5. Pre-production research
• For our pre-production research we made
questionnaires to gather our initial target
audience. Most people who did our
questionnaire were teenagers. The majority of
people also thought our storyline was ‘good’
or ‘ok’ meaning that our storyline appealed to
our target audience. We feel that our storyline
was a good idea because it appealed to our
target audience according to our research.
