The document discusses the target audiences for a thriller film opening sequence created by the author. The primary audience would be 15-26 years old to match the young characters. The secondary audience would be older, 27-40 years old, who may still enjoy the thriller genre. Peers provided feedback on the opening sequence, noting things done well like shots, effects and music. Areas for improvement included reducing dialogue length, simplifying some busy action scenes, and balancing tension with clarity. The feedback was useful for the author to identify strengths and weaknesses to apply to future projects.

1. Evaluation Question 4 :
Who would be the audience for your media product? How did you attract/address your audience?
Audience:
The audience are groups of individuals that will watch your film; these can be people like assembled
spectators or listeners at a public event such as a play, film, concert or meeting.
Target audience:
In the film industry the target audience is very import as it is the main priority to have due to you
making the film for the specific target audience, if you don’t have a specific audience then they
might not be interested as it might not be what they want in film or it has too much nude scenes or
swearing so they might not watch it especially if there age is not within the range of the film because
then they can’t watch it and it might only interest people of that certain age. An e.g. of a target
audience could be teenagers, middle aged people, kids and elderly. When deciding upon your target
audience it should be thought about and decided before post production and pre-production.
Primary audience:
In terms of my thriller production it would be ideal for the age range to be 15-26 as all the characters
in my opening sequence of a film are all young, so this would be a great range for our audience.
Secondary audience:
This would most likely be aimed and apply to people older than the primary audience, they will be
within the age range of 27-40. Our thriller opening is about a boy Rakulan who dies by a jack in the
box in which he finds in a forest. This storyline can exert influence on the older individuals as they
may enjoy thriller due to a lot of older people watching them. A secondary audience is also very
important and it is another priority as it is necessary to have because it can act as a contingence plan
in case there is some problems and issues with the primary audience
Peer assessment feedback
For our thriller opening we showed people in the class to ask them what they thought of the opening
as a whole, what we did good?, what we could improve, and if they would continue watching the
rest of the film if it had been created. Most of the class members were quite intrigued as it made
them want to carry on watching the film, they liked the way we did some certain shots, effects and
2. transitions. The thriller created a lot of tension and suspense as I could see it in there face while they
were watching it. Another individual said they liked the way in which the music was done as it went
good with the setting and that it was quite creepy as it was a typical convention due to most thrillers
roughly having the same kind of sound. Some people noticed a couple of our typical conventions for
our thriller such as the clothing. A couple of things that a lot of people said that needed to be
improved was that we had way too much dialogue, it was a bit too long which made it drag on
slightly, too much action was involved which made it hard from other to keep up with because we
had a couple of scenes were there was too much going on at once. Other than that from the
feedback given I say it was pretty good as it made me and my group acknowledge what we did
wrong so next time if we were to do it then it will be much better due to the feedback given.
