WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?
Target Audience and Age Bracket
My product will initially be aimed at an audience of ages 15-24.
Reasoning For Age Bracket
The reason why I have chosen this is because they are very young and will feel obliged to
watch the product. Also, for audience members between the age of 15 and 19, there will
be a sense of compatibility. This is because they will identify with the main character in
the film as being around their age, and if there is something which they can relate to or
sympathize with then they watch the whole film and enjoy it.
If they can relate If they cannot Relate
What Does The Horror Genre Create and
How Does It Do So
Also, my choice of genre also plays a big part in who my product will be viewed
by or aimed at. Horror creates adrenaline and fear within the audience which is
the aim of my product. This is done through enigma in the film which is used very
well in my product as in the beginning of my opening sequence, the plot is quite
difficult to understand.
Reactions We’re Aiming For Reactions We Aren’t Looking For
Young People and Their Understanding Of The Film
The urge to continue watching and to find out what is about to happen or gain a
better understanding of the plot will be held by this young audience as they may
enjoy the adrenaline which is received through fear and feel good being
knowledgeable of what is happening and why it is happening.
The Young People (Audience) Mutual Understanding Concept Of Our Film
Older Audience Lack of Relation
This will be different in an audience who are middle aged (30-45). This is
because they become more mature and find pleasure in watching much more
relaxing films such as romantic films or comedy where they can sit down and
have a laugh with each other.
In Addition
Also, it would not appeal to an elderly audience as their bodies may not be able to
handle the adrenaline which is created. Not only that but they are not as active as
the younger generation and so will not make an effort to go to the cinema and
watch the product.
