These results are as I expected as I targeted my viewers specifically for their age and gender. I wanted a fair
representation of the people that I thought would be viewing my film and didn’t think it would be productive to
look too far out of my targeted demographic.
Question 3 What was your initial reaction to the opening?
I liked it effective thought provoking wanted to see the rest of the film good well put together average
The reaction to my film was mostly positive and I was overwhelmed.The responses were exactly what I was
hoping for. My target audience wanting me to tell them what happened next and that they thought it was
thought provoking was music to my ears, I think that is the exact response a new film maker would be hoping to
hear.
Do you like my film opening? Would you watch the rest of the film?

Fabulous result knowing that way over half, almost all of my viewers liked my film opening and would watch the
rest of the film if I was to make one. I am disappointed and a bit shocked (due to the results from my previous
question) that 2 people didn’t like it but its taught me that you simply cannot please everyone. But the fact that the
mass liked and would watch the full film makes me realise that I have produced a professional looking project.

The fact that the majority of my audience were
able to identify the correct genre fills me with
confidence that I fitted the codes and conventions
of the genre well.
I think these results are positive, there is room for
improvement but I think that is expected. If I was able
to do it again I think I would ensure that every single
shot was perfect.

This is the response I was hoping for. My aim of my
film opening was to build up sympathy for my main
character.
A 100% yes is amazing and it really makes me feel like
my film opening was an achievement. I stuck to codes
and conventions when creating my piece to help make
the genre identifiable but the fact that from an
opening they were able to get the gist of my film is
amazing.
Do you feel like the opening fits the genres codes and conventions well?

Unless you have studied media in any shape of
form you most likely aren’t going to know what
the typical codes and conventions of the genre
were going to be. I think that my results show
that I did well to fit within them but also that a
lot my audience did not know what they were
making it hard for them to answer the question.

  • 2. Question 1&2 How old are you? 0-10 11 to 15 16-18 19-23 Gender? 20 25 MALE FEMALE These results are as I expected as I targeted my viewers specifically for their age and gender. I wanted a fair representation of the people that I thought would be viewing my film and didn’t think it would be productive to look too far out of my targeted demographic.
  • 3. Question 3 What was your initial reaction to the opening? I liked it effective thought provoking wanted to see the rest of the film good well put together average The reaction to my film was mostly positive and I was overwhelmed.The responses were exactly what I was hoping for. My target audience wanting me to tell them what happened next and that they thought it was thought provoking was music to my ears, I think that is the exact response a new film maker would be hoping to hear.
  • 4. Do you like my film opening? Would you watch the rest of the film? yes no Fabulous result knowing that way over half, almost all of my viewers liked my film opening and would watch the rest of the film if I was to make one. I am disappointed and a bit shocked (due to the results from my previous question) that 2 people didn’t like it but its taught me that you simply cannot please everyone. What genre do you think it is? 0 5 10 15 20 25 Drama Thriller Romance Social realism 58% 7% 22% 13% Do you think it was shot well yes no mostly sometimes The fact that the majority of my audience were able to identify the correct genre fills me with confidence that I fitted the codes and conventions of the genre well. I think these results are positive, there is room for improvement but I think that is expected. If I was able to do it again I think I would ensure that every single shot was perfect.
  • 6. Do you feel sorry for the main character? 0 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 yes no kind of Do you have a basic understanding of what the film is about? Yes This is the response I was hoping for. My aim of my film opening was to build up sympathy for my main character. A 100% yes is amazing and it really makes me feel like my film opening was an achievement. I stuck to codes and conventions when creating my piece to help make the genre identifiable but the fact that from an opening they were able to get the gist of my film is amazing.

Do you feel like the opening fits the genres codes and conventions well? 0 5 10 15 20 25 yes no kind of don’t know Unless you have studied media in any shape of form you most likely aren’t going to know what the typical codes and conventions of the genre were going to be. I think that my results show that I did well to fit within them but also that a lot my audience did not know what they were making it hard for them to answer the question.
