What is your gender?
What age group are you?
What genre of film interests
you?
Three Questions taken
from audience
feedback:
Analysis:
Looking at the three results above, I can take that most people who took my survey and therefore were more
interested in my film were females aged 16-21 years old. Although, the people who answered my survey were
interested in a range of genres, with 50% preferring Action as the genre they’re most interested in. From these
results, it is clear that the demographic that are more interested in my genre are 16-21 year old females; this
could be due to a range of reasons, such as the main characters being female, where the film is focused mainly
on theses female characters (Isabelle and Alice) which could be uninterested to males – as my feedback
appears to show.

Question 4 of Audience Research Survey:
In my survey I chose to use comment boxes for people who are taking the survey to use, opposed to
giving them options to select. The reason I chose this is because the feedback gained from the survey
will be more relevant to understand how the audience feel about the film. In addition, if I was to create
the answers for people to chose from it can seem biased to what I want people to answer from,
without them being able to give them their actual, honest opinions.

Question 5 of Survey:
What did they show me?
Many of the people who took the survey gave very similar answers to the question, including dark
colours used. This showed that the Poster for the movie was meeting its criteria by advertising the
film and giving the audience and automatic emotion and attitude towards the film. One of the
feedbacks gained from the audience “the woman on the front is the bad character” shows that
already they’re picking up what I intended them to feel and understanding that the female character
is going to disrupt everything. Until they actually watch the film is when they know the story of what
actually happens, which will change their mind about what they originally thought when viewing the
poster.

Once again, many of the respondents answered that there the movie review needed to be
improved in two popular responded ways: colours used and more conventional to real life
media products. For improvements to be made, I need to ensure I change my review to fit
a variety of audiences and reach out to more people, improving the overall thoughts to
the review. I would choose to use more basics colours, so they’re not “too feminine”.
When reviewing my movie review with the respondents feedback in my mind, I can
understand how I should of altered my review in order to use forms and conventions,
attract a widen demographic and follow a uniform from the movie’s poster.
6. +
The response gained from the question told me that the poster and review only had a little influence on the
audience to watch the film, scoring 62%, with 25% answering No. This told me, using the feedback from the
previous, relevant questions, that certain aspects included in the poster and review didn’t have much effect
on the audience, and therefore not getting the audience to watch the film. In addition, the review can also
cause a negative effect on the audience to not make them watch the movie, which could be more effective if
I chose the review to be a positive feedback. However, this is not always the case with reviewers as its
coming from another person’s perspective/point of view, which would differ to how I feel about the film – this
is why I chose it to be critical as it is unbiased.
