2. Ancillaries
The fonts used in my ancillaries
aren’t matching for the following
reason, I tested the Messy
Smiling Cactus font that is seen
on the magazine ad on the
digipak. I thought that the first
font was more childish and
captured the essence of
adventure and innocence.
However, I felt that this font
didn’t work as well on the digipak
as the structure is more rigid- like
the modern sans-serif capitalised
font of Peach Milk.
Effectivity of ancillaries combined:
I feel as though my ancillaries are very aesthetically
pleasing and offer a continuing contrasting theme between
colour and B&W. This is also a theme I aimed to maintain in
my music video also. The black and white edited scene in
my music video relates to this theme of contrast. In
addition, the rest of the video features lots of vibrant
colours which is reflected through the rainbow coloured
font on the magazine ad and the vibrant greens on the
digipak. I feel as though I did well in maintaining synergy
and creating links between all three of my products
What could’ve been done
better:
I could’ve found a better font
so that there were significant
connections between the
magazine ad, however, my
reasoning on this situation is
explained below.

3. My music video and combining my products
I found in making my products that having one significant link between the three would make for an effective marketing campaign and keep
the general look and synergy flowing between them all.
As seen on the previous slide, I used the colour combination of B&W and greens/rainbow in my ancillaries. This theme was also evident in my
music video. Each of the shots in my video were edited so that the vibrancy of green and purple hues were much brighter and alarming. I
wanted the look to be strikingly beautiful and full of nature. I think I achieved this well in my music video and in my digipak with the use of the
outdoor shots of the artist.
The shot seen on the bottom right also gives an example of contrast within the music video. The dancer, Courtney, wears black clothing as to
stand out and be visible against the bright greens surrounding her. The idea of contrast runs throughout each of my products and works
effectively to stand out against the backgrounds using a very minimal colour scheme.
Aside from the font usage, I feel as though I’ve managed to create a successful group of products that seemingly link to each other without
being too overtly suggestive of the narrative of the tracks and music video. The hats on the digipak and the ad reference the hats that are
worn by myself and David in the music video – creating subtle links.
