Evaluation Question 2
How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary
tasks?
I created a group on
Facebook and invited
people to have a look at my
teaser trailer, film poster
and film magazine front
cover. I used Facebook as I
thought it would be a lot
easier than individually
showing people my
products. I also think people
are a lot more honest over
the internet as it’s not face
to face and they feel more
comfortable expressing
their opinion, therefore this
allowed honest feedback on
what I had produced.
The
Feedback:
Overall the feedback was really positive;
one positive was that an individual said that
my teaser trailer really reflected a real
teaser trailer as it had the conventions of
typical things real trailers have such as the
‘restricted audiences’ part, the institution
logo and ‘coming soon’ instead of
announcing a release date. These three
things are shown on the next slide:
Another piece of feedback I received said how the
colour scheme in my trailer, poster and magazine tied
in well together and represented conventional thriller
colours. The main colours I used were black, red and
white.
Thus reading many positive comments, I had
received some constructive criticism. One comment
stated that the font I used in my trailer had not
matched the font in my other promotional products.
Although this is a very small detail, I believe changing
this in the future and making the font tie in with all
products helps individuals recognise that they are all
advertising the same film.
I believe each of my products has the chance of
being successful individually, but I think the
combination of all three really brings out
maximum impact. This is because the more
promotional items there is, the more people are
going to hear about the film and the higher the
viewing numbers is bound to be.
