2. Obtaining feedback
Obtaining audience feedback was a crucial aspect of my
coursework throughout, both during the pre-production and
post-production stage. It helped ensure that I was on the right
track and rather than waiting till the end I took in points of
improvement throughout and this benefited me as I then had
less points to improve at the end and therefore ended up
being closer to my wanted end result. Furthermore the
feedback obtained came from my potential target audience,
meaning that all points made were relevant to my work and
by taking in their feedback I was able to get to know my
audience better.

3. Audience
Most of my feedback came from students that attend my
school as it was the most practical way of getting opinions
from people who I knew would fit into my target audience.
Both students and teachers with ages that ranged from 12-
50+ were part of my focus groups that took place at non-
systematic times throughout my post/pre-production.
However I only filmed one of them which I decided to upload
onto my blog, as a lot of people did not have enough time to
get seated and filmed whilst giving me feedback.

4. What did I learn
From this focus group specifically, I learnt that in my final
trailer my edits and scenes were effective as they really
helped convey emotions, and tell the story (speaker 1). I was
also told that the narrative was understood very well and this
encouraged speaker 2 to feel intrigued enough to want to
watch the whole movie. We also reflected back on how I
improved my previous trailer and how that led me to achieve
my final version.

5. Due to technological convergence and advances It was a lot
easier to reach to a lot of people at the same time globally. I
for example used survey monkey to design and put together
a survey which people had to fill in online so that I could find a
potential focus group which would be suitable for my film.
The link was put onto my
WordPress and I also put flyers
out in my school which had a QR
code that directed them from
their smartphones directly to it.
The QR code is one example of
technological advances
simplifying communication as it is
an efficient and up to date way of
sharing information such as links.

6. Apart from the Survey that I designed I also asked verbal
feedback throughout the making of my media products, I did
this to make sure that I was on the right track and this
prevented me from drifting off. This also guided and helped
me understand what was expected to be included in a
promotional package, as I did struggle with this at the start of
my media foundation portfolio.

Audience feedback specifically kept me on track when making
drafts for my cover, I needed feedback from my audience so
that I could then go on to design my final product including
everything that people may have pointed out or commented
on in my feedback. My verbal feedback included questions
such as “Which of the three designs seems more suitable for a
crime/fiction movie” and “Mention two things that you would
add to this poster, if you don’t have any mention two things
you feel stand out on this poster and why”

8. One of the platforms used to ask for feedback was
‘FaceBook’ and because this is a frequently used one,
including by my potential target audience since it is very
wide spread, it was a useful attempt. Had I gotten any
feedback then this would have helped me see if my work
achieved its aim and suited the genre I had chosen for it, but
I unfortunately did not receive any feedback.
