QUESTION 3
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR
           AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?

 Audience Feedback has been essential in improving and
developing our three media products. By putting our video on
YouTube, we have received a lot of praise but also some
constructive criticism about our video. This has been useful in
how to recognise some errors we have made and how, if we
did it again, we would improve the footage and editing to
make it seem more edgy and thrilling for our audience.
FURTHER GATHERING OF AUDIENCE
              FEEDBACK
 We also created a survey on „ Sur veyMonkey’ which allowed us to
send our ideas such as titles, colours and storyline, to our
classmates, friends and family. This enabled us to personally
connect with our audience and for us to direct our media product
to a particular target audience of 15 -25 year old females. It also
enabled us to get an insight as to how often they visit the cinema
and where they would most likely see exclusive photos and news
stories and if this would encourage them to watch the film. This
helped us agree on a large distributing company and gave us
numerous ideas as to how we will market, promote, advertise
and distribute our three created products.
 Most feedback included the love of psychological thrillers as well
as the likely conventions of darkness, mystery and tension to be
created. Our main aim was to follow this audience feedback
closely and to include those conventions along with many others,
to create the ultimate psychological thriller teaser trailer.
EXAMPLES OF AUDIENCE FEEDBACK

 We were advised to darken many shots as the audience felt
they were not dark enough to present a mysterious
atmosphere therefore failed to follow the suited conventions
of a thriller. We de-saturated and toned down several shots to
create a more eerie and thrilling experience when watching
the teaser trailer. We felt this was very beneficial as our
product was now fully thriller based with the static editing and
distorted music to highlight the psychological feature.
 We were also given the feedback of “fix the shots together”
as they were quite jumpy and confusing. We agreed with this
and thought the shots come in too abruptly therefore would
make the teaser trailer unclear for our audience. This resulted
in separating them with static editing and sounds in addition
to including plain black canvas‟ to make it look more tension
  building and frightening.
FURTHER FEEDBACK

 For our magazine cover, feedback included a change in colour
as it did not fit in with the colour scheme and attracted
unwanted attention. The bright yellow sticker we included was
shown on numerous other magazine covers we researched
however the audience felt it was inappropriate for our genre.
To fix this issue, we made it orange as it was a minor colour
used on our cover. We also outlined it in black to further
emphasise the conventions of darkness used in thrillers.
 Our main feedback was that our magazine cover looked “a bit
flat”. This was a slight problem for us as we unable to use
another image however we decided to highlight the character
used on the cover with a light so she wouldn‟t fade into the
background but became the main attraction on the cover.
WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED

 In the final audience feedback we learnt what it was exactly
that the audience liked and disliked about our combined
media texts. The majority of our feedback was highly positive
and we received very little negative comments. This made us
proud as we enjoyed presenting our media texts to the
audience and it made us very confident with our campaign.
 We have also learnt that audience feedback is crucial when
creating and developing media texts as the audience are the
ones that will be watching and commenting on your final
product. Without audience feedback, it would be very dif ficult
to create a campaign to a professional standard as without
their help, you are unable to grow and expand your ideas to
  the best of your ability.
