HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT
REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL
GROUPS?
REPRESENTATION OF TEENAGERS
 For the older generations, teenagers are viewed
    extremely negatively.

 They are represented as: out of control
                             underage drinkers
                             rude/arrogant
                             mean etc…

Although there are a select few of my generation that are
like this, many aren’t. I decided my magazine would
highlight those that aren’t, and that what you perceive
someone to be, could be a totally wrong perception.
I also chose for them to be suitably dressed, as this adds to
the negative representation of teenagers today.
MY AIM FOR THE REPRESENTATION OF
TEENAGERS

 I decided that my magazine would feature two
teenagers on the front cover who would represent
better things for teenagers. For example, fulfilling
  their dreams.
 For my double-page spread, I chose for Zoe Louise
to be seen as all of the bad representation of
teenagers, yet when spoken to, she was none of
these things. This is because I believe you should
only judge people if you know them, not from what
  you hear/read.
 Therefore, my aim for my magazine was to put
teenagers in a more realistic light.
EXISTING MAGAZINE’S
REPRESENTATION, COMPARED TO MY
REPRESENTATION
This was Pixie Lott when she was 19. The
magazine was relying on sales purely from the
provocative picture on the front. This is not
what I want for my magazine.

This is Zoe Louise, she is 18.
I don’t agree that you should
          show your body just because
it sells copies, this leads to
          the exploitation of women. I
would want to rely on the fact
          that people buy my magazine
          because it is good, not
          because of a skimpy picture.
GENDER
 My magazine is aimed at 16-24 year old females.

 They would: know all about celebrities
                 enjoy group holidays
                 have fun without getting drunk
                 like knowing about new artists
listen to music a lot of the time
                 be mainly students
have lots of friends to discuss the
                 ‘Addicted’ every week!
HOW MY MAGAZINE WILL APPEAL TO MY
   TARGET AUDIENCE

                                  The exclusive is a
Big, bold title on daring
                                  typical lure for my
red colour. Shows that
                                  target audience who
it’s good to stand
                                  would want to know
out, and you stand out
                                  all the gossip first.
by being bold.

Picture of Zoe looking
slightly up shows her White background
aspirations and dreams shows maturity and
– that it’s okay to have a simplicity
difficult goal in life, e.g.
be a singer/actor/model
etc…
