AGE
The typical age that I have targeted for my audience is a
teenage girl around the age of 13-18 years of age. I
believe this is the age group that is most interested in Pop
music. Therefore, I have used images of girls that fit into
this category.

My audience will be able to
relate to the girls in my
magazine and feel that it is
                               specific and personal to
                               them and their interests.
As my article is about a young X factor winner, I
thought this image would help the audience
connect with the story and realise that she is just a
normal girl that they can aspire to be like. Both of
the girls featured on my magazine represent
teenagers in a positive way as they are both
smiling and give off a friendly, innocent impression.
AGE
A magazine such as Mojo,
uses an image of two
middle aged, older
looking people. This is
effective for Mojo
magazine, as this is the
specific audience they are
trying to appeal to.
ETHNICITY
Within my magazine I represent more than one ethnicity. My cover and
double page spread show images of a white teenage girl. However, on
my contents page I used an image of an Asian teenage girl. This shows
a range of different cultures and races, which widens my target audience
and allows more people to relate to my magazine.

I also represent another ethnicity on my cover
and contents page. One of my cover lines
mentions Rhianna and she is also mentioned
in one of the descriptions of my pages.
GENDER
As my target audience if mainly for females, most of my cover
lines and images are focused on this gender.

The footer at the bottom of my cover tells the audience
that there is a ‘Gossip’ section of my magazine. This
would attract the female eye as this gender are known to
love celeb gossip, especially when it involves
relationships. This is why I mentioned a ‘new love
interest’, this will intrigue the audience to read my
magazine and give them something they can relate to.

However, I have mentioned males on my front
cover with a cover line talking about ‘One
Direction’. I didn’t use these to attract a male
audience though, I did this as they are known to
be ‘teenage heart throbs’ for young teenage girls.
FEEDBACK
My questionnaire asked my focus group the following question:

How do you think my magazine represents a teenage girl?
    Very Positively…. Mainly Positively…. Negatively…

teenage girls in a negative light. 15 out of 20 said that they thought
‘very positively’ was suitable when looking and reading through my
magazine.
