2. Audience Feedback
Pre-production
In order to create a media product
that would be enjoyed by our
targeted audience we created a
questionnaire using ‘Google Docs’.
During pre production our
questionnaire included the
films synopsis and a series of 13
questions. We did this questionnaire
to gain some guidelines as to who
would be watching our film, and
to receive some feedback on the
storyline before proceeding to film.
3. Audience Feedback
Mid-production
Following with the production of our film, we then posted a mid-production
questionnaire, this contained a rough cut of our short film followed by a series of
questions. This allowed to us to see what our target audience
suggested that we did on how to improve our film. There were questions such as;
1. Did you understand our film?
2. What did you dislike?
3. Where would you watch our film?
We thought these questions were
necessary as to understanding our
audience and what they would like
to see.
4. Audience Feedback
Post-production
We also made a post-production questionnaire, featuring the final rough
cut of our short film followed by related questions. By creating this
questionnaire, it allowed us to adjust our film before our final cut,
making any last minute changes that the audience may find necessary.
We got mixed reviews
on some of our answers
so we decided to go
with the majority.
5. Audience Feedback
We asked our target audience what age they were to get a visual representation of
who to target our film at. Our main response was from 16-18 year olds this gave us
an idea of what age to certificate our film at.
We also got a variety of
ages wanting to view
our film, making our
production available to
wider demographic.
No one below the ages
of 12 and under
meaning that we don’t
have to lower our
certificate.
6. Audience Feedback
During our mid-production questionnaire, we asked what they thought could be
improved, we had mixed answers.
People wanted a star cast but this wasn’t available to do so with a small budget, so
we had to work with who we had.
People also wanted more
scenes with Chloe, so we
added the graveyard scenes,
this also made the film more
intense. We also edited the
colour of the shots to make
it more eerie.
7. Audience Feedback
Our results show that 98.7% of
the audience understood our
films storyline. This was a great
outcome as it meant that we
didn’t have to change it as the
majority didn’t think it needed
changing. Also, a convention of
thriller is to create mystery and
can confuse the viewer, but this
could lose entertainment value
and result in the audience losing
interest in the film.
8. Audience Feedback
71% of our correspondents agreed that our film was a thriller, however 70%
thought that it was a horror. This may have been because of the storyline, or
because we gave the option to select more than one box. Typically, a thriller can be
mistaken for a horror film. 35% thought that our production was a mystery film,
this
is a convention of a
thriller film.
We all agreed that
‘Haunted’ would be
classified as a thriller
film.
9. Audience Feedback
We targeted our film towards 15-25 year olds, through research we discovered that
this was the most popular age group to view a thriller film. From our audience
feedback, 87% agreed that it would be aimed at 15-18 year olds,
and 59%
thought that
it would be
aimed at 18-
25 year olds.
Confirming
our prediction
of the target
audience.
10. Audience Feedback
We received a variety of reviews to the music that should be put on put film. The
majority
agreed that we
should use intense
music within our
film to enhance
the tension. Also,
70% suggested
using eerie music
to convey the
horror element
within our
production,
