What have you learned from
 your audience feedback?
We gained feedback from two sources; qualitative interviews and
quantitative surveys. The former involved us filming an interview with 3
interviewees, we asked mainly open questions to get a feel of what fans of
the Indie genre liked about it.
The latter, quantitative survey, was done via a line of 10 questions on the
website, Survey Monkey. These were closed questions which we could
collate together to create a table of responses. This helped us very much
because we had a wider range of answers than in the interview and as it was
quantitative it was easier to apply to our media product.
Qualitative Interviews
+Gained in depth feedback.
+Made it easier to find out what to focus our research on.
+We could ask open questions.

-Harder to apply to the media product as some ideas were vague.
-A very small sample size means it could be biased.
-Hard to get a larger sample size as it would take up time of us and interviewees.

                                                                                Pitch Feedback-

We delivered a presentation pitch to our media group during the research stage of the
coursework. They said that the idea seemed good, but the setting of Brighton could be
difficult to get to, this was useful as it made us reconsider going to Brighton for filming as
it would be expensive to get there and back. Thanks to this particular feedback we
changed the location from Brighton to York.
Quantitative Survey
+Big sample size meant more reliable answers.
+Very easy to apply as we can control how they answer.
+ More questions asked than in the interview=More reliability and direction.

-Can only asked closed questions, not much room for developing answers.
-We had to omit some answers that were irrelevant.
This feedback is from the survey, it
made our work better because due to
the large amount of replies and what
they pertained we could easily focus
our media product on this
demographic.

However in the research stage we did
omit the answers to some of these
questions, such as question 5,
“Have you ever bought Digipaks
(Premium edition CDs)?”
Due to the nature of this coursework
we have to submit a Digipak, so the
fact most answerers have never
bought them (Or probably even heard
of them) we had to persevere and
keep using the Digipak, though most
people buy CDs.
The answers to question 7 helped as it
meant we could tailor our work to
appeal to this demographic, as most
of them were middle class we made
the media product look more tailored
to this group.
These were comments left on the video when we completed it. These
are useful as they tell us that our research worked well in creating a
video that kept to the codes and conventions of it’s genre and one
                that looks professional.

In conclusion, our audience feedback was helpful as it made the end product look
more professional as we knew exactly what audience we needed to aim it at. Looking
at existing media products with a similar audience meant we could compare our work
to these ones and thus know what ours’ needed.
However we didn’t use all the answers from both our interview and our survey in our
final media product due to reasons of how practical they were; how relevant they
were; how useful they were and due to issues concerning the nature of this
coursework.
But the comments on the video above clearly show us that the answers we got from
the survey, interview and pitch helped us achieve the goals we needed to complete in
order to make our media product look the part.

Pitch Feedback- We delivered a presentation pitch to our media group during the research stage of the coursework. They said that the idea seemed good, but the setting of Brighton could be difficult to get to, this was useful as it made us reconsider going to Brighton for filming as it would be expensive to get there and back. Thanks to this particular feedback we changed the location from Brighton to York.
  • 4. Quantitative Survey +Big sample size meant more reliable answers. +Very easy to apply as we can control how they answer. + More questions asked than in the interview=More reliability and direction. -Can only asked closed questions, not much room for developing answers. -We had to omit some answers that were irrelevant.
  • 5. This feedback is from the survey, it made our work better because due to the large amount of replies and what they pertained we could easily focus our media product on this demographic. However in the research stage we did omit the answers to some of these questions, such as question 5, “Have you ever bought Digipaks (Premium edition CDs)?” Due to the nature of this coursework we have to submit a Digipak, so the fact most answerers have never bought them (Or probably even heard of them) we had to persevere and keep using the Digipak, though most people buy CDs. The answers to question 7 helped as it meant we could tailor our work to appeal to this demographic, as most of them were middle class we made the media product look more tailored to this group.
  • 6. These were comments left on the video when we completed it. These are useful as they tell us that our research worked well in creating a video that kept to the codes and conventions of it’s genre and one that looks professional. In conclusion, our audience feedback was helpful as it made the end product look more professional as we knew exactly what audience we needed to aim it at. Looking at existing media products with a similar audience meant we could compare our work to these ones and thus know what ours’ needed. However we didn’t use all the answers from both our interview and our survey in our final media product due to reasons of how practical they were; how relevant they were; how useful they were and due to issues concerning the nature of this coursework. But the comments on the video above clearly show us that the answers we got from the survey, interview and pitch helped us achieve the goals we needed to complete in order to make our media product look the part.
