Quality marks
Assumption on quality
• Assumption: teachers are the most capable to judge
the quality of learning materials
• But they need a treshold based on some opinion on
quality
• Need providing means to make quality visible
Quality measures
• Rating by peers
• Peer review
• Quality mark organizations / groups
• But most important: proficient teachers
– Professionalization!
Principles
• Anyone with a vision on quality can define a quality mark
– Special didactics
– Based on discipline
– Specialized education (e.g. for kids with dyslexia)
– ….
• Formulate the vision in a quality model
– Transparent TRUST!
Implementation
• Made visible in search results with icons
• Quality controller adds icon after check with quality
model
• User can filter on quality marks

Experiences with quality marks
• Based on regular conversations with users (teachers)
• Having a quality mark seems more important than
which quality mark
– Trust: someone has looked closely on quality
– Which quality mark is important for didactic vision based quality vision
• Feeling: quality mark is more formal and therefore is
more reliable than a 5 star ranking
