Symptoms And Symptoms Of Children With Developmental Jaw...
Severe dentofacial/crainiofacial deformities affecting children can have an adverse effect on their
function (eg, mastication, swallowing, breathing, or speech). Such deformities may require early
surgical interventions in order to improve their quality of life. Despite going through these early
surgeries, those patients and their parents must be made aware that additional surgerywill probably
be necessary later. Children with severely progressive congenital deficiencies affecting function
/health should be distinguished from ones with sever developmental deformities that can be
managed later in life. In this review, we will focus on growing patients with developmental jaw
relationship abnormalities who seek orthodontic treatment, rather than patients with progressive
congenital deformities affecting function and/or health.
Growing patients who are experiencing developmental jaw relationship abnormalities may be
managed by orthopedic therapy, through the application of orthopedic appliance forces to modulate
bone growth, or by orthognathic surgery, through the surgical repositioning of jaw segments.
However, the management of these patients with dentofacial deformities during their growth
presents a challenging problem for both orthodontists and surgeons. One of the conundrums that
makes it difficult to choose a treatment modality for such problem is the patients age, because there
is no absolute agreement regarding the age limits on orthopedic therapy or orthognathic

The Impact Of European Civilization On Native Americans
The Native Americans experienced pain and suffering upon the arrival of the european
civilization. The Lenni Lenape for example inhabited New Jersey long before the Europeans
arrived. When settlers from Europe moved to North America, Native Americans lost their reign on
their land. The Native Americans were forced out off of their own land where they lived. By the
european settlers moving over and conquering the territory they caused a catastrophe. Many of the
Native Americans either died from battles or from the diseases that the europeans brought over.
Therefore, the european settlers are the reason for the loss of life and the pain and suffering that
happened. The Native American s had limited supplies to begin with and the european s targeted
their supplies in order to force them to relocate. The europeans learned from the Native Americans
who taught them how to survive and learn the territory. They even trained settlers on utilizing
guerrilla warfare which made them stronger. But ultimately, this would be their downfall because
the settlers betrayed them and took over the native soil. The arrival of the european civilization
made a remarkable impact on their society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along the creeks and streams that connected the middle atlantic states, and in particular the
Delaware river, lived the Lenni Lenapes who were a group of Algonquian speaking Native
Americans. The Lenape Indians could be found anywhere from northern Delaware to southeastern
New York. Many linguist have claimed that more words have been assimilated into the English
language from the Algonquian language, than all of the other Native American languages
combined. Both the Munsee and Unami dialects were spoken by the Lenape people in the New
York, and New Jersey area. That is the common thread between the Munsee and Unami

Nootropics Research Paper
Poor memory, lack of concentration, and inability to focus have become such common complaints,
they re practically considered normal . Despite the fact that we re living in the 21st century, where
access to higher education and modern medicine is widely available, our brains no longer seem to
be keeping up.
This is why the science of nootropics (brain health supplements) is slowly gaining in popularity.
Any functional foods, nutraceuticals, supplements, or drugs that help improve the function of the
brain are considered nootropics.
Romanian psychologist and chemist, Corneliu Giurgea synthesized the first nootropic in 1964, a
cyclic derivative of Gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) called Piracetam. GABA is a

Folic acid (folate) is a B vitamin that has been shown to reduce oxidative damage and improve
cellular protective mechanisms, which can help slow the cognitive decline associated with aging.
One of the most noticeable enhancements from folic acid seems to be the improvement of memory.
2. Bacopa Monnieri
Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb that is considered an adaptogen. An adaptogen is a substance the
makes your brain and body more resilient to the effects of stress. This herb also contains active
chemical compounds called bacosides that help improve the way your brain communicates, thus
improving memory and attention.
A study published in Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicineconfirmed that this
herb demonstrates a clear ability to enhance the attention, working memory, and memory processing
of healthy elderly individuals.

The Call For A Revised Study On Secession
The call for a revised study on secession come from one of the leading historians in Walter L.
Buenger s article, Secession Revisited: The Texas Experience. Buenger argues there exists an
extensive amount of studies on secession, but the focus of these studies centers on individual states
actions, no one has attempted to synthesize these works and write a history of secession for the
entire South. He asserts that Texascould serve as a model if someone conducted a synthesize study of
secession for the entire South. Buenger supports this claim utilizing Terry Jordan study previously
mentioned above study on Upper and Lower South, by outlining the attributes (culture, economic,
and political ideologies) of those found in Texascompared to the attributes found in the Upper and
Lower Southern states. Key to his analysis is his detailed description of the four political factions
found in Texas. Radical separatists, a small group wanting to secede immediately, shared the Lower
South culture and ideology of defending Southern rights. They believe the responsibility of the
nation centers on protecting the rights and property of the individuals. Moderate secessionists
shared the Lower South Democratic party characteristics, of the slaveholding and cotton growing
culture. These moderates also included some wheat growers from the Upper South and Germans
living in close proximity to the cotton growers that supported secession. Moderate unionists shared

Phantom Of The Opera Research Paper
Journal #1
In 1911, the book The Phantom of the Opera , written by Gaston Leroux, was published. In April
of 1929, Universal Studios premiered a silent, black and white film based on the book (The
Phantom of the Opera Website). The Phantom of the Opera went through many more stages until
it was able to become the Broadway musical that we know today. In 1930, dialogue and music was
added to the silent film and later in 1945, it was rewritten and produced in technicolor (The
Phantom of the Opera Website). In 1984, Andrew Lloyd Webbercame across a review of a stage
adaption of the book that was being produced in Stratford and he contacted Cameron Mackintosh
about turning it into a musical. Just a year later, a draft of the first act of the ... Show more content

It is arguably the most popular musical of all time and for good reason(The Phantom of the
Opera Website). The Phantom of the Opera has been performed in many countries and
continents such as Africa, Australia, Japan, and Latin America, and over 130 million people
have seen it (The Phantom of the Opera Website). The musical has really beautiful music and I
like that the majority of the show is kind of a flashback and it s not really taking place in real
time. That s not very apparent throughout the show and it does not really impact it but I enjoy
that it s different. I also never noticed until I was rewatching the performance for this journal that
the lot that the chandelier is in at the start of the show is 666. I think that says a lot about the
connotations of the chandelier and what it was a part of. I really enjoy this show despite it not
really being my type of musical. I like that it is able to stand on it s own without a ton of flashy
dance numbers. The music is the thing that stands out the most. Opera has not been very
popular in the last few decades so I think that it is very impressive that a show called Phantom of
the Opera was able to do so well in the late 80 s and continues to do extremely well today. I cannot
see the show closing anytime soon on Broadway and I m not sure if

Equitable Income Inequality
The distribution of income is the manner in which income is divided amongst the members of
the economy. A more equitable distribution of income from work would lead to all individuals in
society having a similar quality of life. This equitable distribution of income may be either
positive or negative. Positive factors may include the poor being able to access better education
and health care and avoiding the inequality of opportunity they may face. It also decreases and
diminishes the poverty faced by individuals. The negative factors of a more equitable income
include it having an effect on the economy by lowering the incentives for people to study hard
and work hard to achieve a higher education and to get a higher knowledge based job and
discourages innovation and people taking risks. Sweden has a fairly equitable distribution of
income, its Gini Index is 23.0 a country with 0.0 would have perfectly equitable income. A Gini
index is a representation of the income distribution between a nation s residents.... Show more

The government currently spends approximately 0.8% of Australias GDP on tertiary education,
this is below average world wide, this means that students in Australia are having to spend and
borrow more money to spend on their education. This can be solved by a more equitable income
which will lead to lower income individuals being given a higher income to spend on education
and leading to them not having to rely on borrowing. and health care, therefore increasing their
quality of life. If individuals are spending more money on education, it will benefit the economy
ITLR and also lead to a more educated generation. If individuals spend more money on healthcare it
will lead to a healthier country with lowered disease rates and other detrimental health outcomes.
These outcome of a more equitable income are beneficial to the economy

The market has shown a decline in Starbucks stock. When our company followed your
Stocks trend, we noted a drop about $15 a share. This is a value you have been above
Since 2004. Also, looking at Starbucks SEC filings, we can see that its comparable store
sales have decreased significantly in US markets since 2004. This has prompted WillandSteph
to evaluate Starbucks current strategies in addition to the retail coffee market as a whole. To
evaluate the problem, one of the biggest questions to consider is to what extent is the designer
coffee market just a fad. In other words, will the allure of gourmet Starbucks coffee be
maintained or will more appealing options threaten the success of Starbucks primary product?
If the designer coffee market is indeed a fad industry, we need to evaluate Starbucks possible
options to avoid further decline. The overarching question that we should answer is how
Starbucks can stay profitable in the future. A good place to start involves evaluating the current
market for coffee; from this point, we can gather information about market performance and
determine the extent to which designer coffee appeals to current consumers. Through market
analysis, we can investigate whether or not the demand for gourmet coffee is wavering. We will
evaluate whether coffee companies in general are having trouble maintaining profitability or if it

Pros And Cons Of Painkillers
Is the misuse of painkillers worth losing a life? A study was performed in West Virginia looking
at 295 accidental deaths from pain killers and found nearly 2 out of 3 of those who died
overdosed on pain killers, did not have a prescription (Shmerling, 2008). Today in society, there
are many prescription pain killers physicians can choose from to administer to patients.
However, statistics show that the most common narcotic painkillers used are Oxycodone,
Percocet, and Vicodin. The number of people abusing prescription drugs, including opioids,
more than doubled, from 7.8 million in 1992 to 15.1 million in 2003 (Gupta Christo, 2009). The
misuse of prescription painkillers among the general population in the United States is quickly
rising to a state of an epidemic. Many people today take prescription painkillers to help cope with
pain. Even though prescription painkillers can provide relief of excessive pain, the result of taking
prescription painkillers is not always a good outcome. Taking these painkillers can easily lead to a
misuse of the painkillers. In many cases, fear of uncontrolled pain may cause the patient to increase
the dose without... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Users of painkillers such as Oxycodone, Percocet, and Vicodin can obtain these substances from a
variety of ways. Most ways are illegal since users are taking the prescription painkillers without a

are associated with misusing them. There are many signs, symptoms, and side effects that are
presented when a person misuses prescription painkillers. Even though this problem has been on
the rise in the United States recently, health care providers and agencies are trying to come up with
ways to help treat and prevent the increase of the abuse of prescription painkillers and eventually
gaining control of this major

In the Hugh s Treats case, the customer whom the drone fell on and suffered serious head injuries
can take legal action against Hugh s treats and the manufacturer of the drones. Further, the wife of
the man who died as a result of food contamination can sue the sea food restaurant for the death of

manufacturer and distributor of the drones for supplying defective products. In these cases, the
plaintiffs must determine that they have suffered damages as a result of the injuries. The customers

Summary Of The Dispossessed By Ursula Le Guin
My book The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin was written in 1974 Oregon. Ursula Le Guin
was a daughter of an anthropologist Alfred Louis Kroeber and a writer Theodora Krakaw. She
was a talented child, interested in biology and poetry. Her first science fiction story was published
when she was 11, in a magazine called Astounding Science Fiction. She finished Berkeley High
School and completed studies of French and Italian literature at the Radcliffe College and the
Columbia University (Nixon). In my opinion, Ursula K. Le Guin wrote her novelin order to show a
totally different and intriguing perspective of life. The book was written for people with an open
mind, who are ready to consider an absurd way of life and thinking. The author... Show more

Le Guin requires the reader to think, and also it allows the reader to create his own opinion
about the events happening. Most of the book is not written in a way that condemns either of
the leading aspects: capitalism and anarchism. Instead of criticizing, Le Guin presents the facts,
the events and feelings of an anarchist. And now, by expressing feelings of an anarchist, a
reader may say: Well, the book is certainly one sided! . However, as the book is intended to be
read by open minded humans, who most often live in democratic/semi capitalist societies, we
have an immediate bias towards capitalism. The reason for presenting Shevek s point of view,
according to me, is contrasting our own capitalist, money centered thoughts. I think that the whole
purpose of the book is challenging our points of view and presenting some that we have never
considered, nor thought of considering. The value of the book is to make us more creative. The
Dispossessed does not follow rules and it requires the reader to question the rules, the government
and social behaviors that we have been taught since we were children. I find the book very
interesting and intriguing. However, I cannot see any practical implications for The Dispossessed ,
because it requires too much perfection and change from the human race. It wants all humans to be
equal like in communism, it wants them to benefit to society as much as they can, it does not
accept any laziness, authority,

The Kneeling Protest
Is the Kneeling Protest Needed or Disrespectful Professional athletes protesting the National
Anthem has sparked controversy among American citizens causing a massive debate as to whether
or not this protest is a disrespectful protest or a protest that is greatly needed in America. In my
eyes, NFL players protesting the National Anthem is needed as the unity and equality that the
National Anthem stands for is nonexistent. I stand with the NFL players protesting the National
Anthem and I will tell you why. Colin Kaepernick, the NFL player who started to kneel, is
protesting the National Anthem because he believes that the police brutalityhere in America is
unconstitutional and I agree with him. Police officers are brutally murdering unarmed African
Americans without due process. These police officers aren t providing these now dead men and
women any chance to prove themselves innocent in a court. Amendment 14 which states Equal
protection under the law is being completely violated by police officers yet no one is doing
anything to stop them. Between 2005 to April 2017, CNN states that only 80 officers were
convicted for murder or manslaughter, yet an estimated amount of 1000 police shootings occur
yearly here in the United States. This means for every 150 police shootings, 1 police officerwas
convicted of murder. The 150 to 1 ratio is just way too high and calls for a change. Chris Rock, an
African American comedian, was stopped 3 times in the span of 7 weeks by the

Where You Live Influences Health and Well-Being Essay
Social science has proven that where you live can influence your health and well being in either a
positive or negative way. Living in poverty and growing up in a deprived neighbourhood has a
direct link to various social problems such as a lack of employment opportunities, poor housing
conditions, educational problems, lack of amenities, and not feeling safe in your neighbourhood.
These disparities are especially prevalent amongst minority communities due to their lower
socioeconomic status (CDC), and are happening in our own community. Therefore, I propose that
we as a group volunteer our time to raise awareness, combat the negative effects of povertywith the
use of outreach and advocacy schemes, and be aware of the possible opposition... Show more

In addition, minority groups living in America are more likely to face disparities in regards to the
following: education, prison sentences, arrests, lower pay, and unemployment (Minority Rights).
These issues have real, dangerous implications for young people and can affect them throughout
their whole life. Elis Cose, a cultural critic, wrote in a column for USA Today, Black youngsters
are much more likely than whites to be stuck in second rate schools or in lower tracks in decent
schools and to face a future of joblessness or marginal employment (Racial Disparities). Overall,
these disparities are highly connected to the unfortunate fact that many live in deprived
neighborhoods; and therefore, experience all the social disadvantages that this brings (Crime and
Race). Three components physical, mental, and social make up health and well being. Living in
poverty can negatively affect all three components (BetterHealth). Poverty is not just about
lacking money but is more complex as it can affect everyday living in countless ways. The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2013 Health Disparities and Inequalities Report
findings demonstrate that every aspect of health is worse for people living in deprived
circumstances. Poverty leads people to feel hopeless, powerless, and inferior, and these emotions

Appearance In John Updike s A P
Society is obsessed with appearances. We idolize those with seemingly perfect bodies and lives.
We imagine what life would be like in their shoes and wish we could look like them. These are the
issues that Sammy comes up against in John Updike s short story A P . Sammy starts the story as a
carefree teenager, judging the customers that come into the store. But as the story continues,
Sammy reveals how people judge others based on appearances and social status and what
consequences these judgements can have on the social hierarchy.
Sammy is your typical nineteen year old boy who observes the customers in the store and judges
them based on their physical appearances. He notices all the details around him and absorbs them.

Therefore, it is strange that he would feel that he is superior to the people in the store. After all,
he is the one serving them. Sammy finally realizes the fact that he is of a lower social status
when Queenie and her minions come to the register to check out. He thinks the girls will see him
like all the other customers/workers in the store, especially Lengle and Stokesie who are plain
and boring compared to the girls. Sammy calls Lengle, ...pretty dreary (Updike 837). This causes
Sammy to try and change his appearance. He wants to stand out and be different from the rest of
the people around him to impress the girls standing in front of him. This need to be different causes
him to quit. In the moment, he feels a rush of adrenaline, however afterwards he feels the

How Does Tom Robbins Make A Difference In American Literature
Martin Luther King Jr. once expressed that Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable...
Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions
and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. Knowing this, some people are willing to sacrifice
everything in order to fulfill their ambition. Consequently, what makes a sacrificetruly worth it? In
layman s terms, a sacrifice is the act of relinquishing an object or action that one desire in order to
obtain something of equal value. Evidently, humankind cannot obtain anything without first giving
something in return; which means that the sacrifice must be of equal value. Although from
different pieces of literature, they bear some superficial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A higher level quote that would fit into a situation such as this would be by Tom Robbins, who
is an American novelist. Robbins once said that similarities bring people together on a common
ground, while diversity is what allows fascination to occur. To be frank, Robbins is attempting
to get readers to perceive that differences is not necessarily a negative thing. The two characters,
although from different pieces of literature have a common goal, which is to be successful, but
go about it in a different manner. In Victor s case, he attempted to be successful by reanimating
life. The different accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature. I had
worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body. For
this I had deprived myself of rest and health. I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded
moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror
and disgust filled my heart. Unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created (Shelley 56). The
quote is significant because it depicts the feelings that Victor underwent as he was creating the
creature and how he felt no compassion towards his creation, but rather utter disgust. From this, we
learnt that the time and isolation that Victor sacrificed in order to create the fiend was of wasted
effort. What makes the situation

Lymphoma is any cancer that originates in the lymphatic system cells, tissue, lymph nodes and

Networks of lymph vessels, lymphatic tissue, and bean shaped lymph nodes make the lymphatic

In some non Hodgkin lymphoma, the amount of protein produced is increased by the lymphoma
cells causing the blood to become too thick that plasmapheresis has to be performed to remove the
protein.
Watchful waiting may be advised for certain types. The outcome is dependant on the subtype with
some being curable and treatment increases survival in most.
Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects lymphocytes and the lymphocyte producing cells
in the body. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell. When patients have lymphoma some of
the lymphocytes do not work properly. Sometimes they aren t developed fully ( immature), they
divide in an abnormal way, or they don t die when they should. The abnormal lymphocytes can
build up in the lymph nodes, causing them to swell, enlarge and form a lump.
In Hodgkin lymphoma, the abnormal cells are Reed Sternberg cells. Reed Sternberg cells are white
blood cells (B lymphocytes) that have become cancerous.
Other lymphomas without these cells is non Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).

Breast Cancer Speech
Breast cancer is a type of cancer that is commonly found in women. According to the Australian
Government Cancer organization, 28 males + 3,087 females have died from breast cancer, and it
is perceived that by the age of 85, 1 in 8 Australians women are diagnosed with breast cancer.
What is Breast cancer? Cancer is caused when a cell turns cancerous. When a cell in the body is
mutated the DNA within the cell is damaged, causing the cell to stop its traditional function and
allowing the cell to become cancerous. When the cell in the breast mutates and turns cancerous, it
leads to breast cancer. The cancerous cell grows into a tumor. Breast cancer has not been so
prominent in Australia for the past few decades, yet, it is more commonly occurring ... Show more

Higher the stage of cancer the more extended the treatment. The research that will be conducted is
to discover a type of virus that will infect the body and make breast cancer cell glow. This process
will make the cancer cell glow, making the treatment more effective and efficient. Currently are are
many studies on breast cancer, The national cancer institute show many studies that have been done
on breast cancer treatment already. We still need to understand better to make our treatments
efficient, for the welfare of our fellow Australian.
To successfully make a virus that will infect the body and make the cancer cell glow green we will
need to follow the following brief methodology.
Gene For The Glow:
To make a cell glow, we will need a DNA that tells the cell to glow. Meaning that we will need to
extract a gene that will code the cell to glow green. Luckily we can extract GFP (Green Fluorescent
Protein) from jellyfish DNA. Once the GFP is extracted, we will be able to use to code our virus.
Code For the Virus:
Using the GFP gene, we will able to code a virus that makes the cancer cell glow. We will need to
programme the gene so that it only turns on the GFP gene when it infects a cancer cell.
Applicating that the cell will only glow if it is a cancerous

Summary Of Paul Revere
This is the tale of some of the greatest heroes of the American Revolution. The first hero is Paul
Revere. On April 19, 1775, he heard the news of what the British had planned. General Gage of
the British army was going to send troops to Lexington to capture Sam Adams and John
Hancock. Paul Revere knew he had to do something. He got on his horse and went on a midnight
ride threw the colonies. He yelled The British Regulars are coming! During his whole ride and
told people One if by land, two if by sea! Meaning that they should look at the lighthouse to see
how many lanterns are lit up. On the way to Lexington to save Sam Adams and John Hancock
he was stopped by British soldiers on horses. They asked him where he was going and he told
them he was going to warn the people of the regulars that were coming. They thought that their
army was too powerful and that it didn t matter if the colonists knew that they were coming. So,
they let him go. When he got to Lexington the Regulars weren t there yet. He found John
Hancock and Sam Adams and knocked on their door. Someone came down and asked what he
was doing there. He told them to pack their bags and get out of Lexington. After that he rode on.
He soon realized that he should go back and check on them so he doubled back and knocked on the
door. They answered and hadn t done anything. He stayed there until they left. They rode on and
soon realised that they forgot their smoked fish from the night before. After they had returned

Nicole s First Signs Of Ectopic Pregnancy
According to the American Pregnancy Association, an ectopic pregnancy is a serious pregnancy
complication in which a fertilized egg secures itself to an area outside of the uterus. This is
typically in an area that is not meant for a developing embryo, such as the fallopian tubes. In the
initial case study presentation, the patient, Nicole, was experiencing symptoms of an ectopic
pregnancy. Nicole s first signs of an ectopic pregnancywere that she felt very nauseous, was dizzy,
and began to vomit. Within the next few days, Nicole began to feel abdominal pain in the muscles,
the nausea resumed, and traces of blood were found in her urine. According to the Mayo Clinic,

The main symptoms that occurred in the initial case study for us to distinguish this as an ectopic
pregnancy was the nausea, traces of blood in the urine, and the abdominal pelvic pain. Abdominal
pelvic pain occurs in ectopic pregnancy because the zygote falls into the fallopian tube instead of
implanting itself into the uterus. The patient then took a physical exam in which some irregular
results were found. The patient had sharp pains running through the abdomen and swelling of the
lower right quadrant. These symptoms correlate with an ectopic pregnancy in that the fertilized
egg could be implanted in the abdominal area. Also, in the physical exam, endometrial bleeding
was discovered which is typically found early on in a pregnancy. Lastly, the physical exam showed
that there were enlarged nodes in the submandibular, axillary, and inguinal regions. These irregular
results lead us to believe that there is an abnormality in the pregnancy. In the blood chemistry
panel, two results were found to be extremely higher than the reference range. They were estradiol
and progesterone. According to the Walk In Lab, estradiol is only seen in the blood in large
amounts during pregnancy. When estradiol levels are high and continually increase in steady
amounts, this indicates that there is a pregnancy. Progesterone is used to detect if there is either
infertility or a failing

Biblical Worldview
Introduction The book of Romans Chapter 1 8 gives a great preliminary understanding of a biblical
worldview. In the book of Romans, Paul letter addresses an understanding of what the natural world,
human identity, human relationships and cultures are. Paul addresses four key components
throughout the book of Romans. In the book of Romans Paul is a servant of JesusChrist and an
apostle that writes a letter to Christians to help them understand Christian s faith and empirical
implications for the lives of Christians. Also, In Paul letter, he describes the relationship and
differences between grace, faith, obedient and moral behavior that can also be conjoined into the

To be is life, prosperity, and the purse of happiness. If there were no humans there will be no
earth humans are placed on earth to take care of it. In the first book of the Bible Genesis gives a
great example of what it is like to be human. God cares about everything he created but he cares
more about his children because we are a resemblance of God. God created us to take care of the
creation he has made. In the book of Romans Chapter 8:12 17 provides more information about
human identity. In Romans 8:12 13 says So then, my friends, we have an obligation, but it is not
to live as our human nature wants us to. For if you live according to your human nature, you are
going to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death your sinful actions, you will live (The Ultimate
Student Bible). This scripture is basically saying as mankind, we cannot live our life as others want
us to we have to live our life accordingly to God s will. God created us and has a purpose for each
individual he created. For example, Paul identity was a servant of Jesus Christ his identity
consisted of him teaching the word of God in Rome. However, from a biblical worldview, a lot of
people are trying to figure out who they are and what they are called to do. But we have to
recognize our identity that comes from the Lord. God created us and God has a purpose for each

Symptoms And Treatment Of Arthritis
PHYSICAL THERAPY AND ITS ROLE IN ARTHRITIS Daymara Nodarse Florida National
University Professor: Dr. Kelly Krenkel November 4, 2014 Arthritis and other such rheumatic
conditions have been considered to be the most common medical complain as well as one of the
leading causes of disability and activity limitation among the population of the United States.
The rates of arthritis diagnosis have been steadily increasing in the last 20 years. Based on
surveys and research it was determined that by the end of 1990, it was estimated that almost 40
million people suffered from arthritis and/or were currently being treated for it (MMWR, 2001).
Further studies show that by the end of 2005, this number had increased by almost 10 million
people as reported by the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) and over 23 million had
reported that although they were not yet diagnosed they were dealing with chronic joint symptoms
and conditions (Atkinson, 2009). This increase indicates that approximately 800,000 people per
year since 1990 have been diagnosed or treated for arthritis (MMWR). The limitations of activities
of daily living (ADLs) are one of the most common aspects of those suffering from arthritis. It is
estimated that out of over 70 million people with arthritis, about 20 million (close to 30%) have
debilitating symptoms which may cause them decreased abilities to carry on daily activities.
Arthritis has many variations and although their prevalence is indicative of a

The Cultural Elements Of Kaffir Boy By Mark Mathabane
The Cultural Elements of Kaffir Boy Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane is an incredibly complex
novel detailing the author s childhood and coming of age in a South Africa gripped by apartheid. It
also describes his steadfast pursuit of tennis as a means of escaping the aforementioned system that
legalized and even encouraged racism. Though the autobiography captures copious personal
struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones
these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural
elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. On the very first page of
chapter one, Mathabane states that, The white man of South Africacertainly does not know me. He
certainly does not know the conditions under which I was born and had to live for eighteen
years. So my story is intended to show him with words a world he would otherwise not see
because of a sign and a conscience racked with guilt and to make him feel what I felt when he
contemptuously called me a Kaffir boy. (Mathabane 3). Issues of race and racism are the more
frequently described types of social element in Kaffir Boy , however, the power struggle between
Mathabane s mother and father is also discussed. When Mathabane s father is arrested or away for
a long period of time, his mother seizes control of the household. She brings in the food and the
money. Upon the return of his father, she is

Henry Clay s Defense Of The American System
Since the income tax, tariffs have not been a major source of revenue for the United States
government. For this reason, they sold and generated controversies in the United States.
However, there was a time in America s history when tariffs generated enough controversy to
almost insight a civil war. In the U.S. senate, in February 1832, Kentucky Senator Henry Clay
gave a speech called In defense of the American System. Henry Clay s American System
included a protective tariff, a national bank, and federally funded internal improvements. In the
speech, Clay defined the most important part of the American system. Henry Clay stated, ...The
policy we have been considering ought to be continued to be regarded as the genuine American
System. The policy Clay was speaking of was the Protective Tariff. The tariff was so important to
Clay s system that it became synonymous with it. In Clay s economic system, Protective Tariffs
were key and served a dual purpose. They protected private industries from foreign competition
and provided revenue for internal improvement projects. In turn, projects such as canal and road
building produce needed jobs and improved the nation s infrastructure. A national bank provided
cheap credit and a uniform currency. Clay believed this system would create a sound economy and
was the responsibility of the government to promote it. The problem for Henry Clay was the
system had caused a considerable amount of controversy as protective tariffs were the

Organ Transplant
An organ transplant is a surgical operation conducted to replace an organ unable to function
properly with a new one. An organ, in turn, is an accumulation of cells and tissues gathered to
perform the functions of body. Therefore, any part of the body which acts as a performer of
specific function is called an organ. There are two possible ways of how the organ donation(OD)
can take place. The first is the donation of cadaveric organs (organs from recently deceased
people). The decision to donate in this way requires the consent of a person in the form of an
indication on the driver license, like in the USA (Gruessner, Benedetti, 2008, 54) or health care

Generally, Buddhism considers OD to be a positive act of human. Buddhists say that when a
person dies, he should be treated with a care, but there is no essential focus on physical integrity,
i.e. body is not necessary to be kept integral (Oliver et al, 2010, 4). From this one might come up
with a thought that buddhists focus on spiritual development and individual consciousness is given
much attention in the religion, while preservation of physical body might not be crucial.
Consequently, giving an organ to another person would not be perceived as inappropriate act, but
rather as an expression of generosity and altruism.
From the evidences presented above it may be concluded that none of the major religions
forbids OD to be done by a person. Basically, they encourage people to make self sacrificial,
compassionate and benevolent to the humanity acts, such as donations. Likewise, some religions
leave a space for people to identify whether they suppose OD to be an act of charity or
mistreatment of individual s self esteem by themselves. Religion mostly directs a person to follow
a right, in their understanding, path on grounds of what is appropriate and what should not be done
to avoid mistakes or improper behavior. Meanwhile, people, being followers of a particular religion,
might interpret

that people will not have to worry about starving or going without shelter because the
government will give a $10,000 universal income to each person. Suppose we advanced in
technology to the point where machines could take care of anything we want. Would we need
jobs? With all of the technologic changes going on in our world we will always need jobs. In the
article states, And then there s Uber, which is experimenting with driverless taxis and trucks.
That would affect approximately 3.5 million truck drivers, and 5 million people who support the
truck driving industry. Selfless driving sounds pretty great but there is no way that could ever
happen. Even the most advanced cars will not know what the other drivers are thinking. The
only way selfless driving could ever come to highway is if everybody owned a car that had the

Comparison Between Hamlet And Ophelia

Hamlet Essay
The two characters I m analyzing and comparing are Hamlet and Ophelia. I m choosing these two
because they are very different, from two different families that don t like each other. But their in
love at the same time. So I feel like Hamlet and Ophelia are the best options for this essay. Hamlet
should have tried to express his love a little less so Ophelia s father wouldn t have found out about
how madly in love with her Hamlet was.
Hamlet and Ophelia were spending a lot of time together and Hamlet had told Ophelia the
affection he had for her. Ophelia didn t know how to feel about Hamlet s affection for her
because she knew how her father would feel about it. Somehow her father, Polonius, found out
about the time they were spending together and the affection Hamlet had for Ophelia. He ordered
Ophelia to spend no more time with hamlet and to not even speak to him. She said she would
obey her father s orders to stay away from Lord Hamlet .
Ophelia not talking to Hamlet really hurt Hamlet. He was very much in love with Ophelia. He
knew they there two families didn t get along but he still had a whole lot of love for her. He
wanted to marry her but deep down inside he should have known her father wasn t going to allow
them to be married. There was just something about her that he couldn t resist, he just knew that she
was the love of his life. Sometimes that s how things work out though you can t always get what
you want.in life. But you can sure try your hardest to get what you want even though in this
situation Hamlet Probably isn t getting what he wants which is Ophelia.
Ophelia is drowned (pg. 77) . Many believe that she committed suicide and drowned herself and
many also believe she actually accidentally drowned. There was a debate on whether she should
get a christian burial because of the belief that she committed suicide. The helper said I heard she
is to be giving a christian burial (pg 79) so i guess that she will be giving a christian burial but a lot
of people don t agree because of the belief that she committed suicide. Hamlet didn t like the fact
that the gravedigger was singing while he dug Ophelia s grave by saying Has this

The Importance Of Accounting As Well As Ethics

their standards you had to be able to do the job properly. Second is professional skepticism and
objectivity. Both of these played a huge role in allowing the scandal to occur and then continue
on. The AA employees worked right alongside the Enron top officials. They were greatly
influenced by these officials and never questioned the legitimacy of the reported financial
statements. Finally and perhaps most important is the term whistleblower. All it would have taken

Liquidity Ratios and Activity Ratios
2.0FINANCIAL RATIOS
2 Liquidity Ratios
Liquidity ratios measure a business capacity to pay its debts as they come due. It also measures
the cooperative s ability to meet short term obligations. Liquidity refers to the solvency of the
firm s overall financial position the ease with which it can pay its bills. Because a common
precursor to financial distress and bankruptcy is low or declining liquidity, these ratios can provide
early signs of cash flow problems and impending business failure. The two basic measures of
liquidity are the current ratio and the quick (acid test) ratio (Gitman, 2009).

Quick Ratio = Current assets Inventory / Current Liabilities Figure 2.2 explained the company s

ratio that is 0.65. Even though it has shown incremental improvement of their quick ratio and
surpassed the industry average of 0.65 acid tests, the firm would have to sell inventory to meet
its obligations. Comparing quick ratios over an extended period of time can be used to signal
developing trends in a company. While modest declines in the quick ratio do not automatically

problems in the bud. As for PJV s case, this is a good sign that the company progress steadily in

The Beginning Of A New Church Year
Introduction:
The season of Advent marks the beginning of a new church year. It is a season of preparation.
Advent is a time when we prepare to celebrate the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. And Advent is
also a time for us to be alert so that we remain prepared for our Lord s return at His Second
Coming. During these four weeks of the Advent season, in the midst of all of our preparedness,
we are reminded that God comes to us into our sin and brokenness and gives us a new beginning
in our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
Our text for today is from the first eight verses of Mark s Gospel, which opens with the
announcement that the beginning is at hand: This is the beginning of the preaching of the Good
News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This beginning, we re told, is announced by John the
Baptizer, who ...came on the scene ...baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of
repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
John s baptizing activity attracted a lot of people. Inhabitants from all over the Judean
countryside and all of Jerusalem went out to the wilderness to be baptized by John and to hear his
message about the coming Savior the One whose sandal thong he was not worthy enough to untie;
the One who would baptize with the Holy Spirit. John s message was effective and drew great
crowds because he brought people what they needed most: the forgiveness of sins. And he prepared
them for something new that was about to begin the reign and

Tackling Gender Underachievement in Literacy and Numeracy...
Introduction
In recent years there has been much research into gender learning issues and the apparent learning
disparity between boys and girls.
Such research has included investigations into boys underachievement in literacy and girls
underachievement in mathematics. The aim of such research is to recognise key reasons why such
trends are occurring and perhaps more importantly, to address these within the classroom. Since the
introduction of the National Curriculum, national testing and assessment has provided a
comprehensive account of attainment at all key stages, especially in the key areas of numeracy,
literacy and science. However, such results should not be used exclusively when discussing gender

The Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CPLE) has extensively studied gender differences in
learning. One such area of their research is the Gender and Literacy project investigating 4
Londonschools and their findings are now being used to tackle the underachievement of boys in
literacy education.
Social stereotyping is believed to play a major part in the child s learning (Head, 1999), and such
role reinforcement will affect that child s attitude and motivation towards classroom education. It
is normal for young children to spontaneously play in single sex groups and this can be considered
as an early introduction into the single sex peer groups that will dominate in later life. Such group
play may be simply due to a common, shared interest, but the need to conform to group dynamics
and the need for group acceptance may reinforce stereotyping. Within the school environment boys
tend to adopt an
anti swot culture (Bradford, 1996:P1), Head states that the swot is derided and one should be cool
about school work. Boys cannot be seen as taking this work too seriously. (1999:P65). The DfES
(Department for Education and Skills) offer advice to teachers as part of the Gender and
Achievement website, of the 25 hints and tips about teaching approaches 18 are dedicated to the

Narrative Essay On Longboarding
Longboarding is my passion. Even though i don t do it as much anymore i still love it. It give me a
sense of freedom and adrenaline. My most memorable story with longboarding is when i fell of my
longboard. Now for anyone that doesnt know, a longboard is a stateboard with wider and larger
wheels. It also has a longer deck and more flexible.
My most epic crash happened on August 12th 2015. It was a partly cloudy day with a little bit of
downhill wind. I went longboarding with 3 of my very close friends. We started at Stanley park
and then just started talking at topographic maps to see where there was a hill we could longboard
down.
We found a nice long steep hill on hillside road. The asphalt there was fairly smooth especially
for Westfield. We didn t look at the road in to much depth and decided to just bomb it. We started
rolling off at the top of the hill and pushing off to get more speed. We went off in a line. A was
the second one. We were at about half hill and the road started to get bumpy and FAST. i saw the
person in front of me getting speed wobbles so i steered left of him to clear him if he fell. But i
didn t account the speed factor and the bad part of the road was coming up. I hit the bad asphalt

I looked into the sky and around 183 aircrafts flew through the air. Everyone looked around at each

Louise Labe
In sonnet XXI, Louise Labe, treats the physical aspect of male beauty as something that is
unimportant or perhaps not the main aspect of what she considers an ideal or beautiful man. This
is contradictory to Petrarch s approach, since he seems to focus more on the physical beauty of
Laura, such as when he describes her golden hair. As well Louise Labe questions what makes a man
beautiful or what she refers to as stature that puts a man beyond compare . Through this sonnetLabe
tries to get across the point that while beauty may possibly be important, there are also spiritual or
emotional aspects of a man that can make them beautiful as well.

What kind of music best a man befits? The comparison of music to men helps with her belief that
spiritual beauty is important because her use of music leads us to think of feelings and emotions.

pleasant sounds provides is something that can be considered beautiful. These are both things
which are also not physical, and yet still beautiful. This is important because

English Language And Informal Language Essay
In the English language formal language has always been more commonly used when writing. The
internet and social media have led to an increase in the ways we utilize the English language daily.
Informal language was previously used round those people knew well. But on social media,
informal language in written work can reach a much larger audience. English language pundits
believe that the use of informal language will be integrated into formal styles of writingover the
next 50 years. Informal language will be introduced into formal writing due to younger generations
being increasingly exposed to informal language when reading, and formal writing adapting to
reflect our society which communicates informally. Children are now growing up in a society
where informal language is becoming more commonplace. Classrooms around the world have
adopted technology to enhance student s learning, especially in primary level schools. In Dwyer,
Ringstaff and Sandholtz s 1991 article, researchers discussed how:
It appeared chat children interacted with each other more frequently while working at computers.
And the interactions were different the students spontaneously helped each other. They were
curious about what others were doing. They were excited about their own activities, and they were
intently engaged. (1)
This surge in technology has resulted in children communicating online with multiple forms of
media such as static and animated images (GIFs). Because these children are now

Searching for His Identity in Novel, The Invisible Man by...
Unlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his
being in the society in which he lives. (B. R. Ambedkar). Ralph Waldo Ellison was born on March
1, 1914, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and named after journalist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson.
In his the novel, Invisible Man, the main character carries around a briefcase throughout the
entire story. All of the possessions that he carries in that briefcase are reminders that he kept
from experiences. If the Negro, or any other writer, is going to do what is expected of him, he s
lost the battle before he takes the field. I suspect that all the agony that goes into writing is borne
precisely because the writer longs for acceptance but it must be acceptance on his own terms.
Ralph Ellison. The period of the novel takes place around The Great Depression the worst economic
crisis in the country s history, which left a permanent scar on American society and culture, causing
millions of people to suffer and experience joblessness, and homelessness, for nearly a decade.
With so many hardships facing people in this time they all wanted the same thing, which was to
get a job and get back all they had lost. This led people to change whom they were and gain new
identities to fit the new society. Throughout the novel, the Invisible Man is searching for his
identity. At the start of Ralph Ellison s novel, we are introduced to a self proclaimed invisible man.

Comparing Excalibur And The Future King
The legend of King Arthur is the most prominent character in Camelot Lore, but his stories as a
youth give insight to the values that were instilled in him. These values allow Arthur s actions to
transcend time, allowing new generations to learn the same lessons that Arthur learns. Two
contrasting pieces of literature that further prove this point is Excaliburby Sallie Bridges and The
Future King: Camelot 3000 the critic by Dominick Grace which both allow the reader to see the
significance of Young Arthur. Excalibur allows the reader to see how one of the classic tales of
Arthur tells of the traits that make him such an exceptional role model and public servant.

Throughout the poem Bridges first focuses on the blade rather than Arthur which shows the
importance this magical blade has in bringing Arthur his title of King of England. Arthur s blade
gives him his divine birthright of King that can go without challenge which adds nicely to the
already coveted story of King Arthur. In older retellings, Arthur is born out of the deceit of his
father who tricks Arthur s future mother into sleeping with him. This deceit, made possible by
Merlin s magic, is a unique plot device that allows one to analyze the personality of Arthur s father.
Uther s actions seem to tarnish the archetype of King Arthur s story by performing actions that
seem to contradict the chivalry that were expected at the time. In future versions of the legend of
King Arthur this plot point is often removed, this is due to the deception by Arthur, father which
makes Arthur s birth look like an act of lust rather than the intentional birth of a

AIDS brought on many ethical implications. As research was conducted AIDS became well
known. The movie And the Band Played On tells the story of the discovery of HIV and AIDS and
the political issues that went along in the scientific community. During the movie it showed how
each patient with AIDS were treated like they were not part of the human race. The CDC tried their
best to gather enough money for their research. Back then people were uneducated on what exactly
the nation was up against. At the beginning of 1982 there were 447 deaths related to AIDSby 1983
the death rose to 1476 (The AIDS Epidemic 1981 1987, 1981). In June of 1981 the CDC reported
an occurrence of PCP which is known as Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in homosexual males
in California (The AIDS Epidemic 1981 1987, 1981). Back in the 80s there was very little
known detail in about AIDS. There was controversy in the movie of who should get credit for the
finding of AIDS either Dr. Robert Gallo or Dr. Gottlieb. This was an ethical implication that was
ongoing throughout the movie. Don Francis who was part of the CDC wanted to help find what
exactly this unknown contagion was that was killing so many others. Another ethical implication
was when the gay society was treated as if they were the cause of the AIDS epidemic. AIDS did
occur in most the gay society but when women and children started contracting the disease the
CDC linked it back to the bloodbanks. The blood bank executive fried back and

Deviance Is A Violation Of Social Norms
Imagine someone rich or powerful committing crimes without the fear of serving consequences.
The crime may include murder, robbery, or stealing. Deviance is a label for an action or
behavior that violates social norms. Social norms are rules or expectations which usually guide
members of society. Deviance is nonconformity to these norms. Social norms can vary from
culture to culture and is defined in numerous ways. Many researchers believe that deviance is a
violation of social norms. Some believe deviant behavior is breaking the law or acting in a
negative manner. Sociologists use specific words to classify deviant actions from a sociological
perspective. There are crimes that are deviant actions and not deviant acts. For example; this... Show

Many laws are enacted to punish criminals and protect individuals from violent deviant actions.
Privileged Deviance is economically costly because some powerful individuals attempt to escape
the consequences of deviant actions. Deviance occurs through interactions between individuals and
groups. The labeling theory discusses the social behavior of how and why individuals continue
deviant activity to maintain their identity or label. Thio, Taylor, and Schwartz state the word
interaction deviance is a human activity involving more than one person s act (Thio, et. al, 2013, p.
35). The theory suggests individuals reflect on their behavior and how others view their actions.
The labeling theory can be linked to the symbolic interaction foundation perspective. Understanding
deviance and criminal behavior are addressed through the labeling theory. Thio, Taylor, and
Schwartz suggest that the deviant act begins with the hypothesis that no act is essentially criminal.
Criminality is recognized by individuals who feel powerful through the design of laws and the
interpretation of law enforcement. Deviance is determined by the interaction between deviant and
nondeviant actions and how the community interprets the actions. Individuals who adhere to the
law and promote acceptable behaviors are the main source of labeling. For example; this may
include police officers, courts, or school authorities. Defining specific

Cain expresses various weaknesses and strengths throughout the story of himself and his brother.
Within the story, his weaknesses seemed to overpower the significance of the strengths. The one
attribute that stood out the most on each side of the spectrum was his love to please God and his
jealousy created by not receiving the same love from God. I believe that it is significant that
Cain s weaknesses are shown in the story. It proves a case where most humans can find relatable
and tell of a similar experience, granted that they are not banished and have to live out a life of
suffering. Out of all the characters from the Hebrew Bible, the noblest seemed to be Noah. This is

but fail to contact her ever again. Grace is further devastated and is sent into depression, when

Her pain is very clearly seen when she say you already left us once, you can t again to her

Religion In Candide, By Voltaire
Does religion affect the lives of people today? In the book Candide written by Voltaire in 1750s,
almost every person s life is influenced and directly impacted by religion. Throughout Europe in the
16th century, most kingdoms and countries were dominated by Catholicism. It was the main
religion, and many rulers forced it upon the people. Despite how many people found it wrong and
unethical to force it upon others, they continued to do so, punishing anyone in their way. The Age
of Enlightenment is a period where new ideas closely associated with sciencewere spreading.
Voltaire was enlightened; he had a disbelief of religion. This led to him, along with many others
realizing how much it dominated everything. The novel Candide satirizes religion... Show more

Voltaire achieves this by showing how absurd and seemingly crazy he is, the minister tells
Candide Thou dost not deserve to eat, said the other. Be Gone, rogue; begone, wretch; do not
come near me again. (27). In these lines Voltaire shows how unaccepting they are, unwilling to
help a starving man. Voltaire also shows how bigoted his wife is also, as Voltaire wrote, putting
her head out of the window, and spying a man that doubted whether the Pope was Antichrist,
poured over him a full.... Oh, heavens! to what excess does religious zeal carry the ladies (27).
This shows how little the minister, who is symbolizing Christians care about people who do not
have the same belief as them. The unwillingness to help a starving man solely due to his beliefs
seems crazy now, but no as much in the 16th Century if you were Christian. Voltaire does an
excellent job a satirizing Christianity, by showing how intolerant and how averse they are to
helping . Voltaire shows this in Candide because of his numerous distasteful experiences he had
dealt with, due to Christians. One example of a rough experience Candide had was exiled from
many countries because of his writings, which made Christianity look bad. Candide does an
excellent job at doing this, he was capable of shamming them and puts forth his true thoughts and

  • 2. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Children With Developmental Jaw... Severe dentofacial/crainiofacial deformities affecting children can have an adverse effect on their function (eg, mastication, swallowing, breathing, or speech). Such deformities may require early surgical interventions in order to improve their quality of life. Despite going through these early surgeries, those patients and their parents must be made aware that additional surgerywill probably be necessary later. Children with severely progressive congenital deficiencies affecting function /health should be distinguished from ones with sever developmental deformities that can be managed later in life. In this review, we will focus on growing patients with developmental jaw relationship abnormalities who seek orthodontic treatment, rather than patients with progressive congenital deformities affecting function and/or health. Growing patients who are experiencing developmental jaw relationship abnormalities may be managed by orthopedic therapy, through the application of orthopedic appliance forces to modulate bone growth, or by orthognathic surgery, through the surgical repositioning of jaw segments. However, the management of these patients with dentofacial deformities during their growth presents a challenging problem for both orthodontists and surgeons. One of the conundrums that makes it difficult to choose a treatment modality for such problem is the patients age, because there is no absolute agreement regarding the age limits on orthopedic therapy or orthognathic ... • 3. The Impact Of European Civilization On Native Americans The Native Americans experienced pain and suffering upon the arrival of the european civilization. The Lenni Lenape for example inhabited New Jersey long before the Europeans arrived. When settlers from Europe moved to North America, Native Americans lost their reign on their land. The Native Americans were forced out off of their own land where they lived. By the european settlers moving over and conquering the territory they caused a catastrophe. Many of the Native Americans either died from battles or from the diseases that the europeans brought over. Therefore, the european settlers are the reason for the loss of life and the pain and suffering that happened. The Native American s had limited supplies to begin with and the european s targeted their supplies in order to force them to relocate. The europeans learned from the Native Americans who taught them how to survive and learn the territory. They even trained settlers on utilizing guerrilla warfare which made them stronger. But ultimately, this would be their downfall because the settlers betrayed them and took over the native soil. The arrival of the european civilization made a remarkable impact on their society.... • 4. Nootropics Research Paper Poor memory, lack of concentration, and inability to focus have become such common complaints, they re practically considered normal . Despite the fact that we re living in the 21st century, where access to higher education and modern medicine is widely available, our brains no longer seem to be keeping up. This is why the science of nootropics (brain health supplements) is slowly gaining in popularity. Any functional foods, nutraceuticals, supplements, or drugs that help improve the function of the brain are considered nootropics. Romanian psychologist and chemist, Corneliu Giurgea synthesized the first nootropic in 1964, a cyclic derivative of Gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) called Piracetam. • 5. The Call For A Revised Study On Secession The call for a revised study on secession come from one of the leading historians in Walter L. Buenger s article, Secession Revisited: The Texas Experience. Buenger argues there exists an extensive amount of studies on secession, but the focus of these studies centers on individual states actions, no one has attempted to synthesize these works and write a history of secession for the entire South. He asserts that Texascould serve as a model if someone conducted a synthesize study of secession for the entire South. Buenger supports this claim utilizing Terry Jordan study previously mentioned above study on Upper and Lower South, by outlining the attributes (culture, economic, and political ideologies) of those found in Texascompared to the attributes found in the Upper and Lower Southern states. Key to his analysis is his detailed description of the four political factions found in Texas. Radical separatists, a small group wanting to secede immediately, shared the Lower South culture and ideology of defending Southern rights. They believe the responsibility of the nation centers on protecting the rights and property of the individuals. Moderate secessionists shared the Lower South Democratic party characteristics, of the slaveholding and cotton growing culture. These moderates also included some wheat growers from the Upper South and Germans living in close proximity to the cotton growers that supported secession. Moderate unionists shared ... • 6. Phantom Of The Opera Research Paper Journal #1 In 1911, the book The Phantom of the Opera , written by Gaston Leroux, was published. In April of 1929, Universal Studios premiered a silent, black and white film based on the book (The Phantom of the Opera Website). The Phantom of the Opera went through many more stages until it was able to become the Broadway musical that we know today. In 1930, dialogue and music was added to the silent film and later in 1945, it was rewritten and produced in technicolor (The Phantom of the Opera Website). In 1984, Andrew Lloyd Webbercame across a review of a stage adaption of the book that was being produced in Stratford and he contacted Cameron Mackintosh about turning it into a musical. It is arguably the most popular musical of all time and for good reason(The Phantom of the Opera Website). The Phantom of the Opera has been performed in many countries and continents such as Africa, Australia, Japan, and Latin America, and over 130 million people have seen it (The Phantom of the Opera Website). The musical has really beautiful music and I like that the majority of the show is kind of a flashback and it s not really taking place in real time. That s not very apparent throughout the show and it does not really impact it but I enjoy that it s different. I also never noticed until I was rewatching the performance for this journal that the lot that the chandelier is in at the start of the show is 666. I think that says a lot about the connotations of the chandelier and what it was a part of. I really enjoy this show despite it not really being my type of musical. I like that it is able to stand on it s own without a ton of flashy dance numbers. The music is the thing that stands out the most. Opera has not been very popular in the last few decades so I think that it is very impressive that a show called Phantom of the Opera was able to do so well in the late 80 s and continues to do extremely well today. • 7. Equitable Income Inequality The distribution of income is the manner in which income is divided amongst the members of the economy. A more equitable distribution of income from work would lead to all individuals in society having a similar quality of life. This equitable distribution of income may be either positive or negative. Positive factors may include the poor being able to access better education and health care and avoiding the inequality of opportunity they may face. It also decreases and diminishes the poverty faced by individuals. The negative factors of a more equitable income include it having an effect on the economy by lowering the incentives for people to study hard and work hard to achieve a higher education and to get a higher knowledge based job and discourages innovation and people taking risks. The market has shown a decline in Starbucks stock. When our company followed your Stocks trend, we noted a drop about $15 a share. This is a value you have been above Since 2004. Also, looking at Starbucks SEC filings, we can see that its comparable store sales have decreased significantly in US markets since 2004. This has prompted WillandSteph to evaluate Starbucks current strategies in addition to the retail coffee market as a whole. To evaluate the problem, one of the biggest questions to consider is to what extent is the designer coffee market just a fad. In other words, will the allure of gourmet Starbucks coffee be maintained or will more appealing options threaten the success of Starbucks primary product? • 11. Pros And Cons Of Painkillers Is the misuse of painkillers worth losing a life? A study was performed in West Virginia looking at 295 accidental deaths from pain killers and found nearly 2 out of 3 of those who died overdosed on pain killers, did not have a prescription (Shmerling, 2008). Today in society, there are many prescription pain killers physicians can choose from to administer to patients. • 16. Summary Of The Dispossessed By Ursula Le Guin My book The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin was written in 1974 Oregon. Ursula Le Guin was a daughter of an anthropologist Alfred Louis Kroeber and a writer Theodora Krakaw. She was a talented child, interested in biology and poetry. Her first science fiction story was published when she was 11, in a magazine called Astounding Science Fiction. She finished Berkeley High School and completed studies of French and Italian literature at the Radcliffe College and the Columbia University (Nixon). In my opinion, Ursula K. Le Guin requires the reader to think, and also it allows the reader to create his own opinion about the events happening. Most of the book is not written in a way that condemns either of the leading aspects: capitalism and anarchism. Instead of criticizing, Le Guin presents the facts, the events and feelings of an anarchist. And now, by expressing feelings of an anarchist, a reader may say: Well, the book is certainly one sided! . However, as the book is intended to be read by open minded humans, who most often live in democratic/semi capitalist societies, we have an immediate bias towards capitalism. The reason for presenting Shevek s point of view, according to me, is contrasting our own capitalist, money centered thoughts. I think that the whole purpose of the book is challenging our points of view and presenting some that we have never considered, nor thought of considering. The value of the book is to make us more creative. The Dispossessed does not follow rules and it requires the reader to question the rules, the government and social behaviors that we have been taught since we were children. I find the book very interesting and intriguing. However, I cannot see any practical implications for The Dispossessed , because it requires too much perfection and change from the human race. It wants all humans to be equal like in communism, it wants them to benefit to society as much as they can, it does not accept any laziness, authority, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my eyes, NFL players protesting the National Anthem is needed as the unity and equality that the National Anthem stands for is nonexistent. I stand with the NFL players protesting the National Anthem and I will tell you why. Colin Kaepernick, the NFL player who started to kneel, is protesting the National Anthem because he believes that the police brutalityhere in America is unconstitutional and I agree with him. These police officers aren t providing these now dead men and women any chance to prove themselves innocent in a court. Living in poverty and growing up in a deprived neighbourhood has a direct link to various social problems such as a lack of employment opportunities, poor housing conditions, educational problems, lack of amenities, and not feeling safe in your neighbourhood. These disparities are especially prevalent amongst minority communities due to their lower socioeconomic status (CDC), and are happening in our own community. The two characters, although from different pieces of literature have a common goal, which is to be successful, but go about it in a different manner. I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. Unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created (Shelley 56). The patient then took a physical exam in which some irregular results were found. The patient had sharp pains running through the abdomen and swelling of the lower right quadrant. These symptoms correlate with an ectopic pregnancy in that the fertilized egg could be implanted in the abdominal area. The rates of arthritis diagnosis have been steadily increasing in the last 20 years. Based on surveys and research it was determined that by the end of 1990, it was estimated that almost 40 million people suffered from arthritis and/or were currently being treated for it (MMWR, 2001). Further studies show that by the end of 2005, this number had increased by almost 10 million people as reported by the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) and over 23 million had reported that although they were not yet diagnosed they were dealing with chronic joint symptoms and conditions (Atkinson, 2009). The first is the donation of cadaveric organs (organs from recently deceased people). The decision to donate in this way requires the consent of a person in the form of an indication on the driver license, like in the USA (Gruessner, Benedetti, 2008, 54) or health care document as an organ donor card, in Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland, for example... Buddhists say that when a person dies, he should be treated with a care, but there is no essential focus on physical integrity, i.e. body is not necessary to be kept integral (Oliver et al, 2010, 4). From this one might come up with a thought that buddhists focus on spiritual development and individual consciousness is given much attention in the religion, while preservation of physical body might not be crucial. Consequently, giving an organ to another person would not be perceived as inappropriate act, but rather as an expression of generosity and altruism. From the evidences presented above it may be concluded that none of the major religions forbids OD to be done by a person. Basically, they encourage people to make self sacrificial, compassionate and benevolent to the humanity acts, such as donations. Likewise, some religions leave a space for people to identify whether they suppose OD to be an act of charity or mistreatment of individual s self esteem by themselves. Religion mostly directs a person to follow a right, in their understanding, path on grounds of what is appropriate and what should not be done to avoid mistakes or improper behavior. I m choosing these two because they are very different, from two different families that don t like each other. But their in love at the same time. So I feel like Hamlet and Ophelia are the best options for this essay. Hamlet should have tried to express his love a little less so Ophelia s father wouldn t have found out about how madly in love with her Hamlet was. Hamlet and Ophelia were spending a lot of time together and Hamlet had told Ophelia the affection he had for her. Ophelia didn t know how to feel about Hamlet s affection for her because she knew how her father would feel about it. Somehow her father, Polonius, found out about the time they were spending together and the affection Hamlet had for Ophelia. He ordered Ophelia to spend no more time with hamlet and to not even speak to him. She said she would obey her father s orders to stay away from Lord Hamlet . Ophelia not talking to Hamlet really hurt Hamlet. He was very much in love with Ophelia. He knew they there two families didn t get along but he still had a whole lot of love for her. He wanted to marry her but deep down inside he should have known her father wasn t going to allow them to be married. There was just something about her that he couldn t resist, he just knew that she was the love of his life. Sometimes that s how things work out though you can t always get what you want.in life. But you can sure try your hardest to get what you want even though in this situation Hamlet Probably isn t getting what he wants which is Ophelia. Ophelia is drowned (pg. 77) . Many believe that she committed suicide and drowned herself and many also believe she actually accidentally drowned. There was a debate on whether she should get a christian burial because of the belief that she committed suicide. The helper said I heard she is to be giving a christian burial (pg 79) so i guess that she will be giving a christian burial but a lot of people don t agree because of the belief that she committed suicide. It also measures the cooperative s ability to meet short term obligations. Liquidity refers to the solvency of the firm s overall financial position the ease with which it can pay its bills. Because a common precursor to financial distress and bankruptcy is low or declining liquidity, these ratios can provide early signs of cash flow problems and impending business failure. The two basic measures of liquidity are the current ratio and the quick (acid test) ratio (Gitman, 2009). 1. Current ratios The current ratio is current assets divided by current liabilities. The current ratio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No ratio, in fact, is especially meaningful without knowledge of the business from which it originates. For example, a declining quick ratio with a stable current ratio may indicate that a company has built up too much inventory, but it could also suggest that the company has greatly improved its collection system. Quick ratio is expressed as follows: Quick Ratio = Current assets Inventory / Current Liabilities Figure 2.2 explained the company s quick ratio has been improving from year on year from 0.51 in 2007 to 0.63 in 2008 and then increased to 0.69 in 2009. Quick ratio for 2009 is higher compared to the industry average quick ratio that is 0.65. Even though it has shown incremental improvement of their quick ratio and surpassed the industry average of 0.65 acid tests, the firm would have to sell inventory to meet its obligations. Comparing quick ratios over an extended period of time can be used to signal developing trends in a company. While modest declines in the quick ratio do not automatically spell trouble, uncovering the reasons for changes can help to find ways to nip potential problems in the bud. As for PJV s case, this is a good sign that the company progress steadily in improving its quick ratio over 3 years period in which may be resulting from its reduced inventories in 2009. Advent is a time when we prepare to celebrate the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. And Advent is also a time for us to be alert so that we remain prepared for our Lord s return at His Second Coming. During these four weeks of the Advent season, in the midst of all of our preparedness, we are reminded that God comes to us into our sin and brokenness and gives us a new beginning in our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. Our text for today is from the first eight verses of Mark s Gospel, which opens with the announcement that the beginning is at hand: This is the beginning of the preaching of the Good News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This beginning, we re told, is announced by John the Baptizer, who ...came on the scene ...baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. John s baptizing activity attracted a lot of people. Inhabitants from all over the Judean countryside and all of Jerusalem went out to the wilderness to be baptized by John and to hear his message about the coming Savior the One whose sandal thong he was not worthy enough to untie; the One who would baptize with the Holy Spirit. Social stereotyping is believed to play a major part in the child s learning (Head, 1999), and such role reinforcement will affect that child s attitude and motivation towards classroom education. It is normal for young children to spontaneously play in single sex groups and this can be considered as an early introduction into the single sex peer groups that will dominate in later life. Such group play may be simply due to a common, shared interest, but the need to conform to group dynamics and the need for group acceptance may reinforce stereotyping. Within the school environment boys tend to adopt an anti swot culture (Bradford, 1996:P1), Head states that the swot is derided and one should be cool about school work. Boys cannot be seen as taking this work too seriously. (1999:P65). • 51. The Movie And The Band Played On AIDS brought on many ethical implications. As research was conducted AIDS became well known. The movie And the Band Played On tells the story of the discovery of HIV and AIDS and the political issues that went along in the scientific community. During the movie it showed how each patient with AIDS were treated like they were not part of the human race. The CDC tried their best to gather enough money for their research. Back then people were uneducated on what exactly the nation was up against. At the beginning of 1982 there were 447 deaths related to AIDSby 1983 the death rose to 1476 (The AIDS Epidemic 1981 1987, 1981). In June of 1981 the CDC reported an occurrence of PCP which is known as Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in homosexual males in California (The AIDS Epidemic 1981 1987, 1981). Back in the 80s there was very little known detail in about AIDS. There was controversy in the movie of who should get credit for the finding of AIDS either Dr. Robert Gallo or Dr. Gottlieb. This was an ethical implication that was ongoing throughout the movie. Don Francis who was part of the CDC wanted to help find what exactly this unknown contagion was that was killing so many others. Another ethical implication was when the gay society was treated as if they were the cause of the AIDS epidemic. AIDS did occur in most the gay society but when women and children started contracting the disease the CDC linked it back to the bloodbanks. The blood bank executive fried back and ... • 52. Deviance Is A Violation Of Social Norms Imagine someone rich or powerful committing crimes without the fear of serving consequences. The crime may include murder, robbery, or stealing. Deviance is a label for an action or behavior that violates social norms. Social norms are rules or expectations which usually guide members of society. Deviance is nonconformity to these norms. Social norms can vary from culture to culture and is defined in numerous ways. Many researchers believe that deviance is a violation of social norms. Some believe deviant behavior is breaking the law or acting in a negative manner. Sociologists use specific words to classify deviant actions from a sociological perspective. There are crimes that are deviant actions and not deviant acts. For example; this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many laws are enacted to punish criminals and protect individuals from violent deviant actions. Privileged Deviance is economically costly because some powerful individuals attempt to escape the consequences of deviant actions. Deviance occurs through interactions between individuals and groups. The labeling theory discusses the social behavior of how and why individuals continue deviant activity to maintain their identity or label. Thio, Taylor, and Schwartz state the word interaction deviance is a human activity involving more than one person s act (Thio, et. al, 2013, p. 35). The theory suggests individuals reflect on their behavior and how others view their actions. The labeling theory can be linked to the symbolic interaction foundation perspective. Understanding deviance and criminal behavior are addressed through the labeling theory. Thio, Taylor, and Schwartz suggest that the deviant act begins with the hypothesis that no act is essentially criminal. Criminality is recognized by individuals who feel powerful through the design of laws and the interpretation of law enforcement. Deviance is determined by the interaction between deviant and nondeviant actions and how the community interprets the actions. Individuals who adhere to the law and promote acceptable behaviors are the main source of labeling. For example; this may include police officers, courts, or school authorities. Defining specific ... • 53. Cain s Weaknesses In The Story Of Cain Cain expresses various weaknesses and strengths throughout the story of himself and his brother. Within the story, his weaknesses seemed to overpower the significance of the strengths. The one attribute that stood out the most on each side of the spectrum was his love to please God and his jealousy created by not receiving the same love from God. I believe that it is significant that Cain s weaknesses are shown in the story. It proves a case where most humans can find relatable and tell of a similar experience, granted that they are not banished and have to live out a life of suffering. Out of all the characters from the Hebrew Bible, the noblest seemed to be Noah. This is because of his legendary actions of saving two of each animal species ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Grace Stewart In The Film The Others The Others is a suspense horror film which is set in Jersey, Channel Islands immediately after WWII in 1945. Grace Stewart, a loving and a formidable mother of two photosensitive children; Anne and Nicholas, lives together with her children in a huge mansion. One day, all of Grace s servants mysteriously vanish overnight, so she hires three new servants to take their places. The entry of these new servants triggers a series of strange and supernatural events, which force Grace to confront and accept the truth. A character that I have found extremely admirable in the film The Others, was Anne. In the film, Anne is an extremely strong character, who has the courage to fight for the truth and for her herself, no matter the consequences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whole plot is tied very closely to this idea and this idea gives the audience a view on how the war can destroy families. The effects of war are clearly shown through effect it had on Grace s character. Grace is first affected by the war, when it stole her family; they moved to a new place but fail to contact her ever again. Grace is further devastated and is sent into depression, when her beloved husband is taken away from her to fight in the war. This resulted in her taking up all responsibility of the house as well as leaving her no with whom she can share her miseries with. Her pain is very clearly seen when she say you already left us once, you can t again to her husband s ghost. Her plea evidently shows her pain and her longingness for support to bear the burden and loss. This burden, pain, misery and loss eventually leads her to insanity! These events in her life showed me the effect that war can have on people s lives; the pain, loss and burden they have to bear. This made sympathise with the victims of war and helped understand their pain, which I feel is as equally as harsh as being up in the front as they have to live with the memories of the dead. It would be is completely unbearable, as I can t even imagine my life without my parents, family and friend, and these families have to actually live with it. This has given me found respect toward the families who have survived to this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Religion In Candide, By Voltaire Does religion affect the lives of people today? In the book Candide written by Voltaire in 1750s, almost every person s life is influenced and directly impacted by religion. Throughout Europe in the 16th century, most kingdoms and countries were dominated by Catholicism. It was the main religion, and many rulers forced it upon the people. Despite how many people found it wrong and unethical to force it upon others, they continued to do so, punishing anyone in their way. The Age of Enlightenment is a period where new ideas closely associated with sciencewere spreading. Voltaire was enlightened; he had a disbelief of religion. This led to him, along with many others realizing how much it dominated everything. The novel Candide satirizes religion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Voltaire achieves this by showing how absurd and seemingly crazy he is, the minister tells Candide Thou dost not deserve to eat, said the other. Be Gone, rogue; begone, wretch; do not come near me again. (27). In these lines Voltaire shows how unaccepting they are, unwilling to help a starving man. Voltaire also shows how bigoted his wife is also, as Voltaire wrote, putting her head out of the window, and spying a man that doubted whether the Pope was Antichrist, poured over him a full.... Oh, heavens! to what excess does religious zeal carry the ladies (27). This shows how little the minister, who is symbolizing Christians care about people who do not have the same belief as them. The unwillingness to help a starving man solely due to his beliefs seems crazy now, but no as much in the 16th Century if you were Christian. Voltaire does an excellent job a satirizing Christianity, by showing how intolerant and how averse they are to helping . Voltaire shows this in Candide because of his numerous distasteful experiences he had dealt with, due to Christians. One example of a rough experience Candide had was exiled from many countries because of his writings, which made Christianity look bad. Candide does an excellent job at doing this, he was capable of shamming them and puts forth his true thoughts and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
