Modernization and Dependency Theory
Modernization and Dependency theory
Nowadays the rapid development of the word and the growing integration of countries can hardly fail
to affect the development of new theories which attempt to explain the relationship between countries
and the existing inequality between developed countries and countries of the third world. In this
respect, it is possible to refer to Modernization theory and Dependency theory which, being quite
different, still have certain similarities in their views on the modern world and relationships between
developed and developing countries.
It is worthy of mention that the comparison of these theories will help better understand the current
trends in international relations and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, differences between Modernization theory and Dependency theory result from the origin of
Dependency theory which, as it has been already mentioned above, was developed in response to
Modernization theory. On analyzing existing differences between the two theories, first of all, it is
necessary to underline that Modernization theory views the development of the world and
relationships between developed and developing countries as the relationships of potentially equal
countries which are just at a different stage of development at the moment. To put it more precisely,
Modernization theory stands on the ground that western countries are well developed and western way
of development is viewed as the most successful and perspective while there is practically no other
alternatives to this way of the development. This is why the supporters of this theory insist on the
necessity to develop the cooperation between developed and developing countries in order to make the
latter closer to the former. What is meant here is the fact that Modernization theory underlines the
necessity of borrowing the experience of western countries by developing countries of the Third world
(Scott 196). Basically, developing countries should follow blindly the example of more developed
western countries and this will bring them economic, social, and

President Obama, President Bush, And Bush Essay
Eloquently conveying thoughts to the masses is no simple task. It entails more than just a clever
arrangement of words, or a refined set of diction. Speeches are far more intricate than that. Since
speeches are a profound form of communication that is essentially used to grasp an audience, moving
them to a particular mood or mindset, it is imperative that a speech encompass more than just
decorative rhetoric. A skillful orator understands how multifaceted crafting and delivering speeches
are and are aware of the many devices necessary to make a speech impactful. Tone, resounding
gesticulations, rhythm, a crisp but distinctive vernacular, and the usage of artistic proofs are just a few
of the significant facets to a moving effective speech. Presidents are perfect paradigms in analyzing
the effectiveness and impact of speeches. President Obama, former Presidents Clinton, and Bush will
be the crux figures utilized to dissect the speech crafting and speech delivering procedure. By
examining the rhetoric of President Obama, and former presidents Clinton and Bush, and exposing the
many idiosyncrasies prevalent in their speech deliveries, this paper seeks to prove how impactful and
effective speeches are in earning the president influential power and preserving their legacy. This
paper will also expose the behind the scene hands that work at writing speeches.
From draft to delivery, speeches require collaborative work. When a president delivers a speech, he
employs the aid of

The Outsides And The Wednesday Wars And The Outsiders
People with normal names live a privileged life. If your first name is something like James or Emma
and your last name is something like Jones or Williams then you have no idea what it s like to have a
name that is unusual or original. However, the main characters from the novels The Outsiders and The
Wednesday Wars know this feeling too well. Imagine having the name Ponyboy Curtis, or Holling
Hoodhood because you could definitely have some trouble fitting in being called by a name like that.
The Wednesday Wars is about a 13 year old boy growing up in Long Island during the late 1960 s
living through all the politics and opinions in the year but also dealing with small middle schooler
problems like having to wear tights in a play and getting bullied by the big kids . The outsiders is
about a 14 year old boy growing up in Tesla, Oklahoma also during the late 1960 s. However, in this
story the kid doesn t talk about politics at all, instead he talks about his life struggles and real
problems like the death of his parents, living a poor life where his two big brothers have to work jobs
and not go to school to support them, and his brotherhood with the boys in their gang called the
greasers. However, these two boys, despite having very different upbringings definitely have a few
things in common, starting with their unique names. Imagine trying to live a perfect suburban life and
having the last name Hoodhood. Or trying to be tough to stay alive but the first name

Theoretical Foundations Of Advanced Nursing
Pain Concept
Britton Lerch

Kaplan University
MN502: Theoretical Foundations of Advanced Nursing
Dr. Phelps Introduction
Concepts are ideas that can assist nurses with understanding various situations. This enables
researchers seeking scientific theories in order to identify and measure theory components. It is best to
have clear concepts in order to prevent misunderstandings. Confusion can hinder patient s knowledge
when providing patient education. Poor communication can lead to unintentional non compliance and
delay recovery processes (Stewart, Schofield, Elliott, Torrance, Leveille, 2014).
Pain
Young, old, male, female, we all feel degrees of pain for a variety of reasons. Pain is real and it is
different for everyone. Pain can hold a magnitude of negative effects for all. Medication and non
medication interventions are approaches that can lessen pain. To understand pain, and how to manage
pain, one should explore the true concept of pain.
Pain can refer to an emotional, psychological, or spiritual state; also, pain may result from a physical
condition. The purpose of this paper is to study the concept of pain and to comprehend the
pathophysiology of physical pain. Physical pain can be acute or chronic, mild or severe, dull or sharp,
and in a precise location or referred (Mosby s Dictionary of Medicine, Nursing Health Professions,
2006). Through understanding this concept, nurses can initiate interventions that will ease the

Throughout history there has always been revolutions, change, and reforms. In 1832, England
experienced the death of George IV and accession of William IV in 1830 ,that resulted in a general
parliamentary election in which the opposition political party, the Whigs, scored major gains with their
platform calling for parliamentary reform. With the Tory party divided, the king asked the leader of
the Whigs, Earl Grey, to form a government. Immediately, the Whigs introduced a major reform bill
designed to increase the number of voters by 50 percent and to eliminate underpopulated electoral
districts ( rotten boroughs ) and replace them with representatives for previously unrepresented

The Austrian Empire was vulnerable to revolutionary challenge. The new Austrian Empire was a
collection of subject nationalities (more non Germans than Germans) stirred by acute nationalism, its
government was reactionary, meaning liberal institutions were nonexistent, and its reliance on serfdom
doomed the mass of people to misery. As soon as the news of of the February days in France reached
the borders of the empire, rebellions began. In document 6, it shows a Presentation of a Bill by a
Hungarian Diet to Emperor Ferdinand I of Austria. This document describes the revolt against
freedom and independence that was granted to them. It also shares how the military risked their lives
to suppress a rebellion. Most of the citizens are revolting and not compromising to their rules, and that
then caused violence such as, villages that are burned down and massacres occurring. The main
purpose of this document is to show how the people can become violent if pushed enough. People in
this time turned to violence, because they wanted a change and still wasn t granted their freedoms. In
document 7, Louis Kossuth discusses his Address to the People of United States, March 1850 . It
shows how abominable the government can be towards the people. He informs people that the
government is plotting against them, and that they are going to have to defend themselves. The

Income Distribution and Economic Growth in LDC s Essay
Income Distribution and Economic Growth in LDC s
INTRODUCTION
In recent years, one of the major concerns of economic development is the study of poverty, the
income distribution and growth in the less developed countries (LDC s) or Third World countries.
Economists from all over the world have been doing researches and studies on how to induce a growth
in those underdeveloped countries. However, countries differentiate in historical backgrounds, cultural
believes and natural resources. As a result, the government would implement different strategies to
attain a much fairer distribution of income among the society. The relationship between the income
distribution and growth in the LDC s is a significant factor that would affect ... Show more content on

The major concern of the policies would be the approach to provide human basic needs (HBN) for
each and every one of the people in the country. In nearly all of the LDC s, majority of the people are
living under absolute poverty. This means that they are not able to provide a standard level of living
for themselves. Different policies to improve the income inequality and also procure an economic
growth include land reform, redistribution of saving and investment, education for all, progressive
taxation, public expenditures from tax revenues and birth control.
Some people think that there existed a trade off between growth and equity. They think that
distributing income too equally would undermine incentives and thus lower everyone s income. They
believed that the rich needed special encouragement to save and invest more in order to cause a
growth in the economy. Recent evidence suggests that this conventional wisdom is wrong. Many
economies in Asia Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan
(province of China) and Thailand have had both rapid growth and relatively low inequality. Between
1960 and 1993 the East Asian economies,

Reflection On Assisted Living
I attended Tabitha Square Gardens for my service learning. Tabitha Square Gardens is an assisted
living facility in Crete. Assisted living is a philosophy of service that focuses on maximizing each
resident s independence and dignity. This emphasizes flexibility, individualized supportive services
and health care. Involvement of the community, as well as the residents family, neighbors and friends
is encouraged. The availability of staff to meet scheduled and unexpected care needs is a major aspect
of assisted living caregiving. Assisted living serves a broad range of elderly (70 to 90+ years of age)

Sioux Stockmen Research Paper
Ana Bos Sioux Stockmen 4 H Danforth Award 1. One of the project areas I have consistently
participated in is home improvement. My first year of 4 H, I made a bulletin board that had my name,
along with pictures and quotes that represented me to hang up in my room. I remember my judge
specifically telling me that she prefers to have a piece of felt or cork on the back of your project when
you hang it on the wall to prevent it from scratching your wall. She also told me to look at the colors
and make sure they all coordinate; those were both things I didn t think about when making the
project. I saved all of my judges notes, and the year after I read them all before and after creating a
project to make sure I didn t make the same mistakes twice. Each year I enter in this area, I improve
my projects by applying all the tips I ve learned previously and even more. This year, I also learned
about the rule of three. The rule of three means that when you re decorating, it s better to have three
objects rather than two. My judge told me odd numbers always look better in a room than evens,

Thermal Energy Conversion Essay
The demand for an efficient renewable energy source is a driving force in ongoing research. Thermal
energy conversion is one such potential source that is under constant investigation and has endless
avenues of possibility. The two requirements of energy production are efficiency and renewability.
Many possibilities exist for energy production including: Fossil Fuels (natural gas, oil, coal, oilshale),
nuclear, solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and wastes, hydroelectric. Efficiency of the use of these
resource are directly related to the location and the demand in that location. For example Hawaii is a

There are three types of energy converters producing electricity: closed cycle, open cycle, and a
hybrid system combining the previous two systems. Closed cycle OTEC systems use the warm surface
water to boil a fluid that has a low boiling point (e.g. ammonia). The pressure caused by the expanding
vapor is then used to turn a turbine. The turbine then turns a generator to produce electricity. Cold
water is then used to recycle the vapor back to a condensed state and the cycle is repeated. An open
cycle system directly boils the warm surface water. Operating at low pressure, the steam that is created
is channeled in turn to a turbine engine. The water vapor is condensed again by cold water. If the
condensed water is kept seperate from the cold seawater it can be used for consumption or agriculture.
Other by products produced by the open cycle OTEC are a variety of minerals. Both cycles produce
electricity through the use of solar warmed water.
Steam Powered Turbine Engine
Capturing the power of steam is not a new idea but one that has been used for hundreds of years. A jet
of steam can readily do work on an object by the jet propolsion effect of steam escaping through a
small guided hole or by a stream colliding with a system of paddle wheels. Most early steam powered
machines used the principles of the latter. The system of paddles, or turbine, was used to drive a shaft
which in turn could drive any number of gear or belt driven mechanisms. The

rate in secondary schools (Nuwer), whereas South Africa had a 95% educational enrollment rate in
secondary schools (Mzamane). Although there are obvious population differences, the educational
enrollment rates between the United States and South Africa only have a difference of two percent

South Africa s secondary schooling system, in particular of the education in the sciences and
mathematics, was recently ranked among the lowest in the 2013 World Economic Forum Global

in many countries within Sub Saharan Africa. This is because teacher salaries have not kept up with
the high inflation rates in these countries, leaving the best teachers to search for better jobs or
emigrate. This then results in less prepared students and by the time they reach grade twelve, the
failure rate has increased to 50 percent. The reason for the high failure rate is most African students

Ralph Waldo Emerson Rhetorical Analysis Essay
The attitude of the narrator in the prose passage by Ralph Waldo Emerson towards nature is that of
pure admiration. He is very found of nature and appreciates its ethereal beauty. Emerson makes use of
the literary devices of metaphor, symbolism and personification to help readers understand this
admiration.
One example of a metaphor Emerson uses is when he states that nature never wears a mean
appearance (Emerson). This line is an oxymoron. Since nature is, in fact, violent, and ruthless. With
natural disasters that have no regard for the Earth s many inhabitants. After a storm when everything
settles there is a re birth. All of the plants and animals come back with an exuberance to start over.
This may really appeal to the audience because most have witnessed the destructive power of nature,
but have been able to come back stronger and with a new lease on life.
The sun envelops everything in a warm blanket of rays, healing everything it touches. The sun is a
powerful star and man fails to see its sheer beauty. Children see the sun for what it does to, spark
imagination and hope. The next example of Emerson s effective use of metaphor is when Emerson ...

This symbolizes how nurturing and fulfilling one s relationship with nature can be. The significance
with this line is that believing in something whatever that may be can provide someone with
something that becomes so integral to their daily routine, like that of food. Another metaphor that
Emerson uses to convey his relationship with nature, would be when he describes himself as being a
transparent eyeball; being able to see everything. There is no filter with what he is seeing. The narrator
portrays himself as a divine being that has the energy of the Earth running through his veins,

A Research Study On Stem Cell Therapy
Introduction
Stem cells are homogeneous cells found in the human body which have potential to change into, or
differentiate into a range of specific types of cells (Stoppler, 1996). The refurbishment and protection
of many adult tissues are safeguarded by stem cells (SCs) which exist in the top of the cellular sorting
section of these tissues (Beck, 2013). Practical assessments, such as transplantation, in vitro
clonogenic assesses (technique used to study efficacy of exact agents in terms of the proliferation and
endurance of cells) and in vivo lineage tracing, have been undertaken to evaluate the repairing and
differentiation capability of normal SCs (Beck, 2013). Currently, research is on going to resolve
whether stem cell therapy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Minimal research findings and reports have been written on the role of side population (SP) cells in
human nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). This literature review will evaluate the 2007 research article
on, Identification of Cancer Stem Cell Like Side Population Cells in Human Nasopharyngeal
Carcinoma Cell Line, by Wang, Guo, Chen, Zeng and Lu, and determine whether SP cells in human
NPC are viable as an aid in efficient drugs and therapeutic strategies which target NPC Cancer stem
cells (CSC) (Wang, Guo, Chen, Zeng, Lu, 2007).
Review of Underpinning Science
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) give rise to the movement of cancer from one section of the body to another,
and are located in several tumour varieties. The unique properties of stem cells which make them
different from normal cells are; their unspecialised nature, capability to give rise to specialised cell
types and ability to divide and renew themselves (Bethesda, 2015). These stem cell properties can be
used to classify CSCs, and therefore can enable them to treat NPC. A major result of this manipulation
process is the ability the cell can have to extrude dyes such as Hoechst 33342 through the ATP binding
cassette (which encloses membrane proteins that transfer an extensive array of substrates) (Dean,
2002)(Wu, C., Alman, B. A., 2008). Importantly, SP cells are a source of research as they contain these
stem cell characteristics and are therefore able to exclude the Hoechst 33342 dye. This

Thin Blue Line And The Fog Of War Essay
The essay film, as contextualized in this course by Agnès Varda and Ross McElwee, has been defined
by many traits, perhaps most notable in the physical presence of said directors in their films; at times
on screen, at times in voiceovers, sometimes a combination of thereof. Over the span of several class
meetings, this particular trait (the film maker s presence a la Varda and McElwee) and its implications
became the epicenter of most discussions, as well as the assumed baseline by which other directors
would be critiqued. In this paper, the argument advanced is that by the standard(s) that emerged from
the class discussions and evaluations of the aforementioned directors, Errol Morris specifically in his

Homo Sapiens Thesis
Most scientists estimate that it was about 150,000 years ago that the species Homo Sapiens first
appeared, armed with nothing; no sharp claws nor swift legs. Yet, despite this lack of physical
advantages, their descendents us are now living in a world where we like to think that we rule this
earth. Ours is a triumph that far transcends the expectations one might have had about our species
because, well, who d have guessed that this particular kind of ape will one day dominate the earth?
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind is Dr. Yuval Noah Harari s 500 page long attempt to provide
answers to that question. (Which might not seem very brief , but it s got all our 150,000 years
condensed into one single volume... I mean, what s not to like?)
Hailed by the Sunday Express as a starburst of a book and by Observer as thrilling and breath taking ,
Sapiens, originally written in Hebrew, soon became an international bestseller following its
publication in English. It s now translated into more than 30 languages worldwide, including Korean..
This fact may strike you as peculiar, but in reality, it s easy to see how it became so readily popular.

Driving Age Argument
The question inquired is whether raising the driving age to 18 or imposing a graduated driver s license
(GDL) would lower the accident raise for teens. The advocates for both say that the restrictions would
lower allow teens to get behind the wheel when they are ready. Although neither would work well, one
must be chosen.
The reasons advocates of a higher driving age give for its existence is that 16 year olds aren t ready for
driving yet. The writer, Rep. John D Amico of the Illinois state legislature, gives of the example of an
accident where two teens died in an accident. What he does not give is more examples to prove that
this wasn t an isolated incident. Another reason that advocates provide for the higher driving age is

The writer of the passage, Alex Koroknay Palicz, says If your neighbor robs a bank, should you go to
jail? If your classmate gets in an accident, should your license be taken away? Opponents also show
that research says that experience, not age, is what causes teens to statistically worse at driving than
adults. They compare the argument of advocates to saying that men shouldn t be able to drive because
they are statistically more likely to be in accidents than women. They also bring up that teens have to
deal with the same things as adults. The need to be able to get to a job. Without a car, they cannot.
The proposed alternative to raising the driving age is a GDL. A GDL, or a graduated driver s license,
gives teens more freedoms depending on how much they have driven. Advocates say that it gives
teens the time they need to practice before having complete freedom. The opponents say it limits the
time they have to practice due to restrictions on when teens can drive. Another reason opponents give
for not having a GDL is that it makes it harder for teens to get jobs because they have limited hours
when they can drive. The argument for for and against are similar to the arguments for a higher

Aesir Gods
Njord (pronounced NYORD; Old Norse Njörðr, whose meaning/etymology is unknown) is one of the
principal gods of the Vanir tribe of deities. He s also an honorary member of the Aesir gods, having
been sent to them during the Aesir Vanir War along with his son, Freyr, and his daughter, Freya. Freyr
and Freya s mother is Njord s unnamed sister, who, based on linguistic evidence, is probably Nerthus.
Njord was particularly associated with wealth, fertility, the sea, and seafaring in historical Germanic
religion.[1][2] A saying among the Norse peoples held especially wealthy people to be as rich as
Njord.

Persuasive Paper On Self Driving Cars
PERSUASIVE PAPER ON SELF DRIVING CARS
By Ricardo Villar
Introduction
As technology progresses, so do the needs and wants of people, societies, and governments. Since the
first car was created in 1885 by Karl Benz, there have been significant improvements over time such
as the brake, radio, air conditioning, seat belt, and air bag. In today s world, the use of self driving cars
has progressed from a dream into a reality. Companies like BMW and Tesla have already implemented
the self driving feature into their cars. The use of self driving cars will continue to become more
popular and will eventually become an essential part of society.
The purpose of this persuasive paper is to analyze the advantages, disadvantages and future of self
driving cars and to invite the audience to support the self driving car industry by voicing their public
opinion. Specifically, the following questions will be answered:
1. What are the advantages of self driving cars?
2. What are the disadvantages of self driving cars?
3. What is the future of self driving cars?
The findings of this persuasive paper will come mostly from periodical publications published in the
last two year.
Advantages of Self Driving Cars
With the world s roads becoming more fast paced and dangerous, there is hope at the end of the tunnel
for drives, passengers, and civilians. Fortunately, we live in a time in which technology makes dreams
become a reality. The idea of self driving cars first started in the 1920s and has been slowly
progressing until now.
Current Advantages According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (2016), The Nation lost
35,092 people in crashes on U.S. roadways during 2015, an increase from 32,744 in 2014. Self driving
cars would eliminate driver error, which is primarily caused by alcohol, drugs, and aggressive driving
(Naughton, 2016). Other forms of driver error include texting and driving, not looking in your blind
spot, running a red light and not figuring out who has the right of way.
Many accidents are also caused by the driver s inattentiveness or slow reaction time. Many cars with
brands like Tesla, BMW and Audi already have self driving assistance. This feature allows cars to
maintain speed making it a more emissive

The Transnational Crime Of Drug Trafficking
In this research paper I will discuss one transnational crime, and compare the contrast of two nations
for their definition of the crime rate, and tools used to measure the crime. I will give each country s
legal tradition and their major influences on crime definition, rate, and measurement. In this
assignment I will analyze the extent to which crime statistics collected in different nations can
adequately be compared. I have chosen to address the transnational crime of drug trafficking in Japan
and China. The Japanese legal custom is emulated after the European Civil Law, but is persuaded by
the English American legal customs. Japan is generally considered to be a constitutional monarchy.
The judicial branch is led by a Supreme Court whose members are approved by the cabinet. A court
whose members is appointed by the cabinet such as France and Britain, Japan is a unitary state; that is,
it does not hold a federal system of government with division of powers between states and the federal
government. The crime rate in Japan is low compared to crime rates in other countries. The crime
statistics in Japan are compiled by individual criminal justice agencies and summarized by the
Ministry of justice into a statistical yearbook called the White Paper on Crime. You might ask yourself
what is White Paper on crime? It involves the research of the system wide method of arbitration,
deterrence and prosecution, with a thought to reducing offending and

A. The size of the molecule. The larger molecule will diffuse more slowly than the smaller molecule.
B. The nature of plasma membrane. If the membrane is composed of lipid portion., only lipid soluble

Explain the effect that increasing the Na+ Cl concentration has on osmotic pressure and why it has this
effect. How well did the results compare with your prediction?
Increasing the Na+ Cl concentration in the left beaker while keeping the size of MWCO at 20 would
result in an increase in osmotic pressure (Run No.2). This was because the high concentration of Na+
Cl in the right side of membrane gives a increased force to water (in left beaker) to move towards the
solution with the highest concentration of solutes. Therefore, there was an increase in osmotic
pressure.
However, when the membrane was changed to from 20 MWCO to 50 MWCO, the Na+ Cl molecules
were able to diffuse through the membrane, the equilibrium would be reached and no osmotic pressure
was generated. If the concentration of Na+ Cl of both size are equal, the osmotic pressure would be
zero.
I obtained the results from the experiment supported my predictions because as the the concentration
Na+ Cl was increased from 5 mM to 10 mM (by adding more Na+ Cl ), the osmotic pressure also
increased. However, after the membrane was changed to 50 MWCO, the Na+ Cl molecules could
diffuse easily through the membrane and did not caused an increase in osmotic pressure.
2. Describe on way in which osmosis is similar to simple diffusion and on way in which is different.
One way in which osmosis is similar to simple diffusion is that both mechanisms are

Secondary And Types Of Secondary Nutrients
Secondary Micronutrients Secondary nutrients are also required for plant growth and consist of Sulfur,
Calcium, and Magnesium. Though they are secondary they are still quite abundant in the soil and are
utilized within the complex functions a plant needs to grow. Sulfur is important for its presence in
vitamins and enzymes, calcium is essential to the structure of the cell wall, and magnesium is the main
electron carrier in the photosynthetic reaction (Prasad Power, 1997, p. 243). Micronutrients are those
that are only found in trace amounts but are still quite important in many of the metabolic functions of

specific to plant growth (Araujo Melo, 2010, p. 2421). These microbes naturally fertilize plants and
soils which embraces microbial life and more active nutrient cycling.
Mycorrhizae
Mycorrhizal fungi play a large role in the terrestrial manifestation of plants (their movement onto
land). This is because this species of fungi form a symbiotic relationship with plant roots, allowing
them to have more surface area and an overall greater water and nutrient absorption. These symbiotic
relationships occur in majority of plants and growth results can be drastic since mycorrhizae allows
for greater phosphorus consumption than the 15 20% consumed by plants without mycorrhizae
(Prasad Power, 1997, p. 171). This fungus can be inoculated and integrated within the soil when
planting new crops, giving the plant roots greater potential for nutrients. Mycorrhizae naturally occurs
on the majority of plant roots making them abundant in natural soil ecosystems and forest floors.
Other Important Aspects of Soil
Organic Litter Organic litter makes up the uppermost layer of soil and is supplemented by dead leaves,
branches, trees, and dead animal waste. These are all forms of organisms rich in organic compounds
that supply soil microbes with the raw material to convert into the components of soil and usable
nutrients. This

The Olympic Games Of The Olympics
The Summer Olympic Games is the leading international sporting event in which thousands of
athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions. According to existing historical
manuscripts, the first ancient Olympic Games were celebrated in 776 BC in Olympia. They were
dedicated to the Greek god Zeus and took place in the same place every four years. This four year
period became known as an Olympiad (International Olympic Committee, 2012). The first modern
games were held in Athens, Greece in 1896 with nine sports contested. The 2016 games will consist of
28 sports. Although the actual event may last for only a few weeks, the preparations commence up to a
decade beforehand and may entail considerable investment expenditures that can have longer term
economic significance.
In 2016, the Olympics will be held in Rio De Janeiro. When choosing the next country to host the
Olympics, Rio had one of the biggest advantages. The Olympic Games had never been held in South
America. Additionally, the International Olympic Committee understood what the power of
transformation of these games would mean to Rio, Brazil and South America. To the Olympic and
Paralympic Movements, this decision represented the opening of a new and promising frontier, and
the possibility of inspiring 65 million youths under 18 years of age in Brazil and 180 in the whole
continent.

Americans are uninsured. Over 46 million Americans had no health insurance in 2006, and 86.7
million went without health insurance at some point in 2007 and 2008 ( Health Care Issues ). Why has
the number of uninsured risen so drastically and why are employer sponsored programs dwindling?
The rising cost of health care has led companies to stop offering health insurance for employees, and
private insurance is often too expensive for people to afford. Many families make too much money to
qualify for Medicaid, but are unable to pay for private health insurance. Health care costs in the
United States have more than doubled in the last twenty years. Insurance premiums are rising five
times faster than wages, and Americans are spending more money on health care than people in any
other country. The average amount one person pays per year for health care in the United States is 134
times higher than the average of other industrialized countries ( Health Care Issues ). Even people who

for expensive medical treatment, leaving people with massive debt from medical bills. Medical bills

As demand for the CDOs started growing across the global investment community, the investment
bankers (like Lehman) who were meant to sell these instruments also started investing a significant
portion of their own capital in these.
As Wall Street firms like Lehman were churning more and more home loans into CDOs and selling
them or investing their own money, there was a pressure on the banks to issue more loans so that they
can be sold to the Wall Street firms in return for a commission. Slowly banks started lowering the
credit quality for availing a home loan and aggressively used agents to source new loans. This slippery
slope went to such an extent that in 2005, almost anyone in the U.S could buy a home worth $100,000
(45 lakhs INR) or more without income proof, without other assets, without credit history, sometimes
even without a proper job.
The U.S. housing market went into a classic speculative bubble. Home loans were easy to get, so more
and more people were buying houses. The increased demand for houses caused the price to increase.
The rising prices created even more demand, as people started to look at homes as investments
investments that never went down in value.

How Does Shakespeare Create Tension In Romeo And Juliet
A pair of star cross d lovers in the classic tale Romeo and Juliet, is written by the famous playwright
William Shakespeare. In the midst of the Capulet and Montague s ancient grudge and hatred for one
another, Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague are confronted with a forbidden lust separated by their
family s feud. The story explores love, hatred, death and forgiveness, depicted through the stylistic
features that Shakespeare employs to portray tension between the Montague and Capulet families. The
tale of Romeo and Juliet sees their love trial among an endless brawl of hatred with many
consequences. The opening scene introduces conflict between the two families through their slave s
dialogue, I will bite my thumb at them, which is a disgrace. Shakespeare already establishes within the
first scene the hatred that both families have for each other that even their help and staff cannot stand

The Teachability Dilemma of Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurs are a very, or perhaps the most, important boost in our economy. They do not only take
the risk for the sake of a business, but also they provide our economy with employment opportunities
and culture. A society can only be prosperous only when it rewards and encourages entrepreneurial
activity because in fact, it is the entrepreneurs and their activities that are the critical factor for
success, prosperity, growth and opportunity in any given economy. Entrepreneurship is not easy and it

As new enterprises have low success rates, a person in this role must also have considerable

One of the disadvantages of being an entrepreneur is that it has a lot of vulnerabilities. For example,

The Importance Of Marketing Channels And Distribution
What is the importance of Marketing channels and distribution? Marketing channels has been used in
business operations for a long time. A marketing channel is made by the people, organizations, and
activities necessary to transfer the ownership of goods from the point of production to the point of
consumption. It is the way products and services get to the end user, the consumer; and is also known
as a distribution channel. Distribution channels is a network of firms that are interconnected in their
quest to provide sellers a means of infusing the marketplace with its goods and buyers purchasing of
those goods. (Iacobucci, 2013) Distribution is one of the most important features that one must

Using economic theory and information gathered from prior academic research, this paper will
address how technological changes have affected the demand for skilled and unskilled workers.
There has been a long debate throughout various forms of literature related to this topic over whether
technology is destroying or creating jobs. Taking economic theory into consideration, I have come to
the hypothesis that technological changes have shifted the demand for both skilled and unskilled
workers; causing a downward shift in demand for low/unskilled workers and causing an upward shift
in the demand for skilled workers. Based on substitution and scale effects, technological change
creates shifts in labor demand. Because innovation and automation reduces the cost of capital, this
also results in substitution and scale effects.
In this paper, I will first review three sources of economic research related to my topic. I will
summarize their research question, methods and findings. I will then summarize my findings and
present some future points to consider. After assessing the various information gathered from prior
academic research, I have come to the conclusion that overall skill biased technological change does
exist and does in fact affect the demand for skilled and unskilled workers.

An Interview With National State Television And Radio Company
Last year, in an interview with National State Television and Radio Company (VGTRK) journalist

innocence? She killed the flea and the speaker s last chance of having relations with her. The speaker
at this point realizes that his chance to have sex with this lady is gone. The speaker realized her killing
the flea was his final rejection.
In To His Coy Mistress, the speaker is attempting to use a Carpe Diem method to persuade the young
lady to make love to him. The speaker attempts to persuade the lady with seize the day. The speaker
continues to tell the woman about how short time is, and how they must hurry because no one ever
knows how much time is left. This is evident in by how the poem begins, Had we but world enough,
and time, (page 527) As the poem starts to speed up you realize the speaker is becoming almost
desperate. His promises and analogies become so farfetched. ... I would Love you ten years before the
flood (line 8). Marvell uses symbolism, comparisons and metaphors to show the speaker as this
passionate lover and the lady would be foolish not to give in to his request.
Clearly the two speakers are Metaphysical poets. They have gone in two different directions to try to

SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS Safety Management Systems in the Aviation Industry
Introduction
This topic area covers the second and third sessions. Now that some of the basic terms and concepts
associated with safety management systems and risk management have been discussed, it is important
to outline what a safety management system encompasses, and the benefits it can bring when
implemented and maintained within an organisation such as an airline. Not only must organisations be
aware of operational issues such as scheduling, crewing, and administration, but all staff members
must be made aware of the importance of implementing measures to identify, analyse, and monitor

Unuofia And The Ibo Culture In Things Fall Apart By Chinua...
If you want to learn about a culture, listen to the stories. If you want to change the culture, change the
stories. (Unknown) Throughout the story Things Fall Apart By: Chinua Achebe the entirety of
Unuofia the Ibo culture itself experienced a rather unexpected change. New ideas of government,
faith, and culture are taking a toll on Umuofia. The presence of Western ideas brought forth by
European missionaries ultimately conflicted with the ideas and beliefs of the Ibo culture and later
resulted in the falling apart of their culture as a whole The inhabitance of the missionaries itself
already began to weaken the structure of the Ibo society. The white men requested a piece of land
from the Ibo shortly after their arrival. In response They offered him as much of the Evil Forest as
they cared to take... (Achebe 149) The men gladly accepted the offer made by the Ibo and began to
work on clearing it. The people of Umuofia were quite certain that within a few days ... Show more

Along with their new form of religion, the white man ...had also brought government. They had built a
court where the district commissioner judged cases in ignorance. (Achebe 174) The Ibo are
completely unfamiliar with government such as this and it seems as if they are being forced to abide
by the white mans rules. The grasp the Ibo have upon the government of their own land is beginning
to loosen. Few of the prisoners the white man obtained in the name of this government had committed
acts that are rather justifiable to the Ibo people. Some of these prisoners had thrown away their twins
and some had molested the Christians. They were beaten in the prison by the kotma and made to
work... (Achebe 175) The white man is now dominating the actions in which the Ibo are accustomed
to. Piece by piece the Ibo s culture is being sumbmerged within the shadow of Western

Numinbah Valley Case Study
Numinbah Valley is an area and suburb approximately forty eight kilometres south west of the Gold
Coast, in south eastern Queensland, Australia. Numinbah Valley covers approximately 116 square
kilometres. The area is in the south east part of Queensland and is part of the Gold Coast Hinterland.
Numinbah Valley is the upper catchment for the Nerang River. As the name suggests, Numinbah
Valley is a valley, with several elevated areas in it (Figure 14 and 13). The valley is well preserved,
with only 10 percent of the area having been cleared of vegetation. Only one major road runs through
the valley, it being the Nerang Murwillumbah road (there are a few other roads which run off from this
one, but they are for private use). 1.2 Background. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was last active about 23 million years ago and became extinct approximately 10 million years ago.
Aborigines inhabited Numinbah Valley for approximately 9000 years. Due to low numbers and
primitive technologies, Aborigines had next to no impact on Numinbah Valley. Despite Aborigines in
the valley, the valley remained largely unexplored until the late 1800 s when timber cutters seeking
valuable red cedar came into the valley. The timber resources in the area supported the families who
farmed in the valley, and supplied timber for a number of local and regional saws mills. In present day,
the major local industries (in descending order) in Numinbah Valley are agriculture, forestry and
fishing, education and training, construction, and health care and social assistance. In the last
consensus of 2011, 294 people lived in Numinbah

Examples Of Double Crossing In Julius Caesar
What does disloyalty mean? Double crossing is the demonstration of breaking or abusing one s trust
or a possible contract, for example, a guarantee, here in Julius Caesar it is more about breaking trust.
The way of double crossing in Julius Caesar originates from Cassius control of Brutus into believing
that slaughtering Caesar is the best thing for the country; while as a general rule, Cassius simply needs
to seize power for himself. How can this contribute How does Brutus double cross Caesar? In act I
Brutus was controlled by Cassius and was persuaded that killing Caesar was the most ideal thing for
the general population of Rome. Later, in act II as Caesar is being killed by the backstabbers, who are
individuals Caesar expected could have accomplished something like this, Brutus enters and wounds
Caesar. Caesar investigated Brutus eyes as he was being wounded. Caeser was stunned and thought
about how Brutus, surprisingly, could have taken an interest in his homicide. This conveys an
exceptionally dim intending to the word selling out, in light of the fact that it demonstrates that even in
a portion of the best kinships they can at present end in manipulating. ... Show more content on

Caesar dependably realized that Cassius didn t care for him all that much however he had an annoying
feeling around a notice that he got from a more abnormal instructing him to be careful the ides of

another government official that listening to his wife would make Caesar resemble a powerless ruler
according to the Roman residents. Caesar went to the senate on the ides of March, where the he was in
the long run killed by the plotters drove by Cassius. This implies double crossing can likewise happen
from individuals who don t have a cozy association with each

Satire In Chaucer s Satire
The Canterbury Tales: by Geoffrey Chaucer
The Foolishness of Love
Two best friends fighting to the death over a woman who wants to stay a virgin (Chaucer, Knight s
Tale), a woman and her lover tricking her husband into thinking a second global flood was coming
and making him the fool of the town (Chaucer, Miller s Tale), a pardoner tricking everyone of their
money for fake relics and blessings (Chaucer, Pardoner s Prologue), these are several of the satirical
things that Chaucer writes about in The Canterbury Tales. Through symbolism, irony, humour, and
wit, one can tell that by all his satire in his work, Chaucer is trying to get across a point to his readers.
This point is that people act foolish, and they act even more foolish when it comes to them loving after
something.
Throughout Chaucer s work, he provides many great examples through each of the particular estates
and how they are corrupt when it comes to love or greed, even the papacy, who most people would
have trusted with their live s at the time. This can especially be seen in the Pardoner s tale when he
tells us of three young drunkards who set off to kill a man named death in another town. Along the
way, they meet a man who leads them to a path where they found gold along it. After this discovery
two of the three men plot against the other while he is away, but the third also decides to poison the
other two. So when the third gets back he gets jumped by the other two but they end up eating his

Justice In The Green Mile
Green mile is a movie about how justice is served and whom deserves justice, Green Mile is a movie
about racial stereotypes. It has a big influence on how certain people of different race view African
Americans and minorities in general. The black man is the most categorized races in history, always
been presented as negligent people, unintelligent and unable to make certain decisions. Instead, the
black man is portrayed as a savage and barbaric man who is a savage, less than human. In the early
days and still now it is not unusual for a black man to be killed for raping and killing a white woman
with little to no trial with a chance to have his day in a real courtroom with a jury of his peers. This
type of standard was more popular during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was accused and sentenced to death for the rape and killing of two white girls. The type of
accusation that was grounds for the death penalty, especially for a black man in the south. However,
Was the execution of John moral right action? Based on the definition of utilitarianism as that an act is
right if it produces the greatest sum of satisfactions to a great number of people. Then, most people
will agree since they were outraged by the crimes two innocent whites girls raped and killed by a
black man. That is the perfect scenario for a death sentence. The question would be, was he guilty of
the crimes he is accused of? There was no time to find out since there should be a perpetrator brought
to justice to decrease the anger of the white population outrage by these acts. Paul, the senior and
commanding officer, had to take into consideration the whole situation. knowing the fact that he is not
well liked by everyone, especially by Percy Whitmore a guard who thinks he can get away with
anything because he is the governor s little boy. Most guards like Howell felt that John was innocent
and he is a good guy but, could not do anything against the death sentence. John s execution is done in

In this respect, it is possible to refer to Modernization theory and Dependency theory which, being quite different, still have certain similarities in their views on the modern world and relationships between developed and developing countries. In fact, differences between Modernization theory and Dependency theory result from the origin of Dependency theory which, as it has been already mentioned above, was developed in response to Modernization theory. On analyzing existing differences between the two theories, first of all, it is necessary to underline that Modernization theory views the development of the world and relationships between developed and developing countries as the relationships of potentially equal countries which are just at a different stage of development at the moment. To put it more precisely, Modernization theory stands on the ground that western countries are well developed and western way of development is viewed as the most successful and perspective while there is practically no other alternatives to this way of the development. This is why the supporters of this theory insist on the necessity to develop the cooperation between developed and developing countries in order to make the latter closer to the former. What is meant here is the fact that Modernization theory underlines the necessity of borrowing the experience of western countries by developing countries of the Third world (Scott 196). Basically, developing countries should follow blindly the example of more developed western countries and this will bring them economic, social, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Different policies to improve the income inequality and also procure an economic growth include land reform, redistribution of saving and investment, education for all, progressive taxation, public expenditures from tax revenues and birth control. Some people think that there existed a trade off between growth and equity. They think that distributing income too equally would undermine incentives and thus lower everyone s income. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are three types of energy converters producing electricity: closed cycle, open cycle, and a hybrid system combining the previous two systems. Closed cycle OTEC systems use the warm surface water to boil a fluid that has a low boiling point (e.g. ammonia). The pressure caused by the expanding vapor is then used to turn a turbine. The turbine then turns a generator to produce electricity. Cold water is then used to recycle the vapor back to a condensed state and the cycle is repeated. An open cycle system directly boils the warm surface water. Operating at low pressure, the steam that is created is channeled in turn to a turbine engine. The water vapor is condensed again by cold water. If the condensed water is kept seperate from the cold seawater it can be used for consumption or agriculture. Other by products produced by the open cycle OTEC are a variety of minerals. Both cycles produce electricity through the use of solar warmed water. Steam Powered Turbine Engine Capturing the power of steam is not a new idea but one that has been used for hundreds of years. A jet of steam can readily do work on an object by the jet propolsion effect of steam escaping through a small guided hole or by a stream colliding with a system of paddle wheels. He is very found of nature and appreciates its ethereal beauty. Emerson makes use of the literary devices of metaphor, symbolism and personification to help readers understand this admiration. One example of a metaphor Emerson uses is when he states that nature never wears a mean appearance (Emerson). This line is an oxymoron. Since nature is, in fact, violent, and ruthless. With natural disasters that have no regard for the Earth s many inhabitants. After a storm when everything settles there is a re birth. All of the plants and animals come back with an exuberance to start over. This may really appeal to the audience because most have witnessed the destructive power of nature, but have been able to come back stronger and with a new lease on life. • 22. A Research Study On Stem Cell Therapy Introduction Stem cells are homogeneous cells found in the human body which have potential to change into, or differentiate into a range of specific types of cells (Stoppler, 1996). The refurbishment and protection of many adult tissues are safeguarded by stem cells (SCs) which exist in the top of the cellular sorting section of these tissues (Beck, 2013). Practical assessments, such as transplantation, in vitro clonogenic assesses (technique used to study efficacy of exact agents in terms of the proliferation and endurance of cells) and in vivo lineage tracing, have been undertaken to evaluate the repairing and differentiation capability of normal SCs (Beck, 2013). Currently, research is on going to resolve whether stem cell therapy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Review of Underpinning Science Cancer stem cells (CSCs) give rise to the movement of cancer from one section of the body to another, and are located in several tumour varieties. The unique properties of stem cells which make them different from normal cells are; their unspecialised nature, capability to give rise to specialised cell types and ability to divide and renew themselves (Bethesda, 2015). These stem cell properties can be used to classify CSCs, and therefore can enable them to treat NPC. A major result of this manipulation process is the ability the cell can have to extrude dyes such as Hoechst 33342 through the ATP binding cassette (which encloses membrane proteins that transfer an extensive array of substrates) (Dean, 2002)(Wu, C., Alman, B. Thin Blue Line And The Fog Of War Essay The essay film, as contextualized in this course by Agnès Varda and Ross McElwee, has been defined by many traits, perhaps most notable in the physical presence of said directors in their films; at times on screen, at times in voiceovers, sometimes a combination of thereof. Over the span of several class meetings, this particular trait (the film maker s presence a la Varda and McElwee) and its implications became the epicenter of most discussions, as well as the assumed baseline by which other directors would be critiqued. In this paper, the argument advanced is that by the standard(s) that emerged from the class discussions and evaluations of the aforementioned directors, Errol Morris specifically in his films The Thin Blue Line and The Fog of War technically is not an essayistic film maker. However, this stance also states that Morris is a film essayist by other means, in that Morris simply implements Laura Rascaroli s thoughts on reflectivity and subjectivity in a form dissimilar to Varda and McElwee. The proposed alternative to raising the driving age is a GDL. A GDL, or a graduated driver s license, gives teens more freedoms depending on how much they have driven. Advocates say that it gives teens the time they need to practice before having complete freedom. • 27. Persuasive Paper On Self Driving Cars PERSUASIVE PAPER ON SELF DRIVING CARS By Ricardo Villar Introduction As technology progresses, so do the needs and wants of people, societies, and governments. Since the first car was created in 1885 by Karl Benz, there have been significant improvements over time such as the brake, radio, air conditioning, seat belt, and air bag. In today s world, the use of self driving cars has progressed from a dream into a reality. Companies like BMW and Tesla have already implemented the self driving feature into their cars. The use of self driving cars will continue to become more popular and will eventually become an essential part of society. The purpose of this persuasive paper is to analyze the advantages, disadvantages and future of self driving cars and to invite the audience to support the self driving car industry by voicing their public opinion. Specifically, the following questions will be answered: 1. What are the advantages of self driving cars? 2. What are the disadvantages of self driving cars? 3. What is the future of self driving cars? The findings of this persuasive paper will come mostly from periodical publications published in the last two year. Advantages of Self Driving Cars With the world s roads becoming more fast paced and dangerous, there is hope at the end of the tunnel for drives, passengers, and civilians. Fortunately, we live in a time in which technology makes dreams become a reality. The idea of self driving cars first started in the 1920s and has been slowly progressing until now. Current Advantages According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (2016), The Nation lost 35,092 people in crashes on U.S. roadways during 2015, an increase from 32,744 in 2014. Self driving cars would eliminate driver error, which is primarily caused by alcohol, drugs, and aggressive driving (Naughton, 2016). Other forms of driver error include texting and driving, not looking in your blind spot, running a red light and not figuring out who has the right of way. Many accidents are also caused by the driver s inattentiveness or slow reaction time. Many cars with brands like Tesla, BMW and Audi already have self driving assistance. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Explain the effect that increasing the Na+ Cl concentration has on osmotic pressure and why it has this effect. How well did the results compare with your prediction? Increasing the Na+ Cl concentration in the left beaker while keeping the size of MWCO at 20 would result in an increase in osmotic pressure (Run No.2). This was because the high concentration of Na+ Cl in the right side of membrane gives a increased force to water (in left beaker) to move towards the solution with the highest concentration of solutes. Therefore, there was an increase in osmotic pressure. However, when the membrane was changed to from 20 MWCO to 50 MWCO, the Na+ Cl molecules were able to diffuse through the membrane, the equilibrium would be reached and no osmotic pressure was generated. If the concentration of Na+ Cl of both size are equal, the osmotic pressure would be zero. I obtained the results from the experiment supported my predictions because as the the concentration Na+ Cl was increased from 5 mM to 10 mM (by adding more Na+ Cl ), the osmotic pressure also increased. However, after the membrane was changed to 50 MWCO, the Na+ Cl molecules could diffuse easily through the membrane and did not caused an increase in osmotic pressure. 2. Mycorrhizae Mycorrhizal fungi play a large role in the terrestrial manifestation of plants (their movement onto land). There has been a long debate throughout various forms of literature related to this topic over whether technology is destroying or creating jobs. Taking economic theory into consideration, I have come to the hypothesis that technological changes have shifted the demand for both skilled and unskilled workers; causing a downward shift in demand for low/unskilled workers and causing an upward shift in the demand for skilled workers. Based on substitution and scale effects, technological change creates shifts in labor demand. Because innovation and automation reduces the cost of capital, this also results in substitution and scale effects. In this paper, I will first review three sources of economic research related to my topic. I will summarize their research question, methods and findings. Since 2014, Russia and Ukraine have battled over the territory of Crimea, an area in eastern Ukraine stocked with large amounts of gas and oil. Despite Crimea being in Ukrainian territory, Russia has invaded the region and claimed it as their own. Although, this conflict in Crimea may be rather new, Ukraine and Russia share a deep and complex history. In order to study the crisis occurring in Crimea, it is important to look at not only the problem at hand but also the history, motives, perspectives, and solutions. (Unknown) Throughout the story Things Fall Apart By: Chinua Achebe the entirety of Unuofia the Ibo culture itself experienced a rather unexpected change. New ideas of government, faith, and culture are taking a toll on Umuofia. The presence of Western ideas brought forth by European missionaries ultimately conflicted with the ideas and beliefs of the Ibo culture and later resulted in the falling apart of their culture as a whole The inhabitance of the missionaries itself already began to weaken the structure of the Ibo society. The white men requested a piece of land from the Ibo shortly after their arrival. In response They offered him as much of the Evil Forest as they cared to take... Double crossing is the demonstration of breaking or abusing one s trust or a possible contract, for example, a guarantee, here in Julius Caesar it is more about breaking trust. How can this contribute How does Brutus double cross Caesar? In act I Brutus was controlled by Cassius and was persuaded that killing Caesar was the most ideal thing for the general population of Rome. Later, in act II as Caesar is being killed by the backstabbers, who are individuals Caesar expected could have accomplished something like this, Brutus enters and wounds Caesar. Caesar investigated Brutus eyes as he was being wounded. Caeser was stunned and thought about how Brutus, surprisingly, could have taken an interest in his homicide. • 50. Satire In Chaucer s Satire The Canterbury Tales: by Geoffrey Chaucer The Foolishness of Love Two best friends fighting to the death over a woman who wants to stay a virgin (Chaucer, Knight s Tale), a woman and her lover tricking her husband into thinking a second global flood was coming and making him the fool of the town (Chaucer, Miller s Tale), a pardoner tricking everyone of their money for fake relics and blessings (Chaucer, Pardoner s Prologue), these are several of the satirical things that Chaucer writes about in The Canterbury Tales. Through symbolism, irony, humour, and wit, one can tell that by all his satire in his work, Chaucer is trying to get across a point to his readers. This point is that people act foolish, and they act even more foolish when it comes to them loving after something. Throughout Chaucer s work, he provides many great examples through each of the particular estates and how they are corrupt when it comes to love or greed, even the papacy, who most people would have trusted with their live s at the time. This can especially be seen in the Pardoner s tale when he tells us of three young drunkards who set off to kill a man named death in another town. Along the way, they meet a man who leads them to a path where they found gold along it. After this discovery two of the three men plot against the other while he is away, but the third also decides to poison the other two.
