High Cost Of A College Education Essay
Right now in our society a college education is no longer an option or privilege, but rather a necessity.
We were practically raised and conditioned to believe that we need a higher education in order to
succeed in life. As opposed to generations of the past, high school students today are unable to obtain
the number of high paying jobs that were once available. In the post War 1 era, the city of New York
provided a free quality college education to many working class people (including immigrants) at the
time when they were effectively barred from attending most colleges. Harvard College was founded in
1636, the history of higher education has been closely intertwined with the history of the United States
economically, socially, and culturally. Both have generally been associated with expanding
opportunity but as college and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
$638 for High school graduates. The average price of college today is 90,000 for a four year of
college, if college graduates put away $462 a week the extra amount made then they could pay off
college debt in about 16 years. It may seem like a lot, after they have built up huge retirement fund
and give themselves a better life. Only if students come to realize that if they went to a secondary
trade school it would be so expensive. High school graduates today are unable to obtain the number of
high paying jobs that were once available. My response to these statistics is that people approaching
high school graduation should seriously consider trade school, particularly if they are not at the top of
their class. A traditional four year degree is not for everyone, and trade school offers a pretty
compelling career path, especially when considering the factors associated with a college education
outlined above.
Expanding opportunity, as colleges and universities have become less privileged of an elite few more

Everyone looks forward to Friday well, unless you re having dental surgery. However, this is the day

This is usually due to extensive decay or trauma, or occasionally a tooth breaks during surgery. And,
because your dentist needs to make an incision to remove the roots, your recuperation time can vary
from a few days to a week.
Impacted Wisdom Teeth
Your third molars, aka wisdom teeth, develop in your late teens, but are so far back in your mouth that
they often cannot erupt properly. This is so common that the American Academy of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons says that 90 percent of people have at least one wisdom tooth that is impacted.
Dentists frequently recommend their removal because they can become infected, cause gum problems
or damage neighboring teeth.
While millions of people have their wisdom teeth extracted each year, the Academy of General
Dentistry explains that even though these are more difficult extractions, most everyone heals without
problems and is back in commission within a few days. However, one common complication that can
extend your recovery time is a dry socket.
A dry socket comes about when the blood clot, beginning to form in the area of the extraction,
becomes dislodged or dissolves, leaving bone and nerve endings exposed. This is a painful condition
that your oral surgeon will need to treat right

Multiple Sclerosis Interview
As older adults age, they start to get exposed to many chronic illness and they have to learn to deal
with their illness on daily basis. Chronic illness prevent many older clients from doing the activities
they used to perform every day, and it creates anxiety and depression for some clients because they
feel less in control of their activities. Clients with chronic illness have to adapt to not being able to
perform basic tasks. Most clients with chronic illness use negative cope strategies by smoking or

Chesapeake Colonies Vs New England Colonies
As stories of the New World drifted back to the old, a new start appealed to the residents of a troubled,
turbulent England. Poverty had made it difficult for many to provide for their families, forcing them to
seek their livelihood elsewhere. Displaced peasants traveled to the already overpopulated major cities
such as London, hoping to scrape by. Around the same time, King Henry VIII severed ties with the
Catholic Church, establishing the Church of England, a Catholic sect with himself at the head. This
led to confusion and dissent within England, ending in the eventual rise of the Protestant William and
Mary until the rise of Elizabeth I, when she severed ties with Rome anew. This religious confusion led
to an unstable religious climate in England, resulting in persecution of many different religions.
Social, economic and religious issues led many to look to the Americas as an opportunity to start
fresh, economically and religiously. Although the New England and the Chesapeake regions both
started as small colonies, simply hoping to get by in the New World, by the 18th century they
developed into drastically different cultures. The New England region consisted of many Puritans who
fled England seeking religious freedom, while the Chesapeake region consisted of young Englishmen
seeking wealth. Despite their similar hope for a better life in the New World, as a result of differences
in topography, economy, religious background and overall societal views, the two colonies had
developed into two distinct societies by the 1700s.
Before either the New England or Chesapeake colonies were founded, the differences in the intentions
of its founders foreshadowed the two distinct societies the colonies would become. Jamestown, the
first of the Chesapeake colonies, was founded on the premise of accumulating wealth. Settlers traveled
to the New World in hopes of economic opportunity for themselves and their investors, spending their
early days searching for gold. The gentlemen not only faced disappointment as they realized their
search for riches was a waste, but starvation as they had not allocated their resources and time to
establish their settlement and plant food. They were forced to face a new approach, focusing on

Ode To A Nightingale And John Keats Analysis
The verse of John Keats is loaded with individual investigations of profound and serious emotions and
reflections on life. His sonnets concern an assortment of topics, for example, time everlasting and the
progression of time and the want to discover perceptual quality amidst constant change. From
pursuing his verse I trust that these topics are unmistakably vital to Keats, as they can every now and
again be viewed as the establishments on which quite a bit of his verse is based. Another essential part
of Keats verse is his utilization of rich, dynamic symbolism, regularly identified with nature, which is
utilized to give noteworthy bits of knowledge into life. In this exposition, I will talk about the above
topics, and how I reacted to Keats treatment of them. The sonnets on which I will base this paper are,
Ode to a Nightingale , When I Have Fears That I May Cease To Be. While perusing some of his verse,
it appears to me that Keats was exceptionally worried about beautiful motivation and desire, and
comparably, the creative energy and it s quality as methods for getting away life. At the point when
Keats depicts his feelings of trepidation of death before he can completely express every one of that
his mind holds When I have fears that I may cease to be, before my pen has gleaned my teeming brain,
before high pilèd books in character, hold like rich garners the full ripened grain . , this shows to me
an incredible wonderful aspiration inside Keats and a

Argumentative Essay On Dnr
I support liberty and I support less government, but i guess my line of thinking on this is a little bit
different. I know that this would be the government tell you what you can and cannot do, which as you
could probably guess I despise as well, but I kind of see this as taking power away from the
bureaucratic DNR. This is something the people and for the people to decide, not letting the DNR
decide what is good for our deer herd, which historically we know is not the greatest. I have family
and friends all over the state that wish Wisconsin would implement an antler restriction. I recently did
a small policy analysis on this topic and regardless of how poorly the DNR has handled the issuing of
doe tags, an antler restriction may save the herd. Eventually, there would be more bucks and bigger
bucks in the state, meaning more breading. As a result a rise in deer numbers. I do think that if this
ever did happen it should wait until the doe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, as much as I d love to believe that landowners could work together to establish a QDM
program, it just won t happen. A state that could be a model for this is Arkansas. In the late 2000s,
Arkansas implemented an antler restriction throughout the state and for the past three years there
harvest numbers have been very consistent. It is viewed positively in the state. Georgia, Mississippi,
and Alabama also have statewide antler restrictions and their herds are now thriving. Looking at this
from an economic standpoint, an antler restriction may increase the number of hunters in the state
again. In the year 2000, nearly 700,000 hunters bought deer gun licenses. Last year, just over 600,000
people purchased licenses. The number of hunters in this state are declining big time. This means less
money for the DNR and businesses that usually profit from hunting equipment and ammo sales.
People are hunting less because there are no deer and they never see any nice bucks, and this may be a

ABSTRACT
Weka (Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis) is a collection of machine learning algorithms
developed on Java platform by University of Waikato, New Zealand. It is a data analyzing tool used
for data modeling and predictive analysis. It is licensed under GNU General Public License. As it is
implemented in Java it is platform independent. It is a comprehensive collection of various data
preprocessing and modeling techniques. Some of the operations performed using Weka like
classification, clustering etc. are discussed here. It provides implementation of various algorithms
which can be applied on any kind of datasets.
It has wide range of features which perfectly suits for a data mining process. This includes
preprocessing of data to clean and structure the data. Then it is followed by data
classification/clustering by choosing appropriate algorithm. Weka contains four different types of
interface. Each one has its own specifications. Explorer is the simple and basic interface whereas
Experimenter is the most efficient of all these. Using Java Database Connectivity, it provides access to
SQL databases and can be used to process the result obtained from database queries.
This article provides a brief introduction to Weka, list of few algorithms in Weka, how it is used, some
of the merits and demerits of Weka and some of the future implementations that

A Gradual Decline in Prejudice between Places and People...
A Gradual Decline in Prejudice between Places and People in North and South Through her
characterizations of the two main characters in Margaret Hale and John Thornton, Elizabeth Gaskell
develops a transition from prejudice to love. She reveals their inner most thoughts through an
omniscient third person narrative to allow the audience to empathise with their feelings. The
Characters develop through dialogue because they dispute over the North and South divide and try to
distance themselves from each other. But despite their prejudices love prevails because of the actions
of good will shown by Margaret, which John interprets to be feelings of love. The audience is satisfied
that they have found a general cause which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mrs Hale had a preliminary regard for the town which was confirmed upon seeing the gloom of the
town. You can t think the smoky air of a manufacturing town, all chimneys and dirt like Milton
Northern, would be better than this air, which is pure and sweet Margaret detests the cultural aspects
of Milton; she does not like the wallpaper or the architecture. The people in the town would make,
loud laughs and jests, particularly aimed at all those who appeared to be above them in rank or station
, Margaret has been alienated by the attitude of the townsfolk, and there is that element of prejudice
because they can see by the way she dresses she is not of their class. When Mr Thornton is introduced
to Margaret there is an initial prejudice, as the narrator says, He almost said to himself that he did not
like her, before their conversation ended. For Margaret the feeling is mutual, as she demonstrates by
speaking condescendingly of John to her mother. She believes Mr Thornton s education is responsible
for him being in trade, why he can t help that poor fellow . She talks in a pitiful manner of Mr
Thornton being in trade, because of her prejudice towards tradesmen. The Thornton and Hale family
symbolize the divide of North and South in Gaskell s novel. Mrs Hale criticises her husband s new
job, as she is still bitter that they had to move from the luxury of

Communist Manifesto Essay
The Communist Manifesto was built with intentions to serve as a program meant for the Communist
party during its time of publishing. Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, philosopher and author (titled
respectively), composed the document as a form of instruction for the followers of a new congress,
which is known as The Second Congress . The duo worked tirelessly throughout the final months of
the year 1847 and through January of 1848, only to have a modified adaptation of their original
document published in February of 1848. The Communist Manifesto acted as a symbol of victory for
the newcomers to the Communist party. The authors used the document to clarify the contradictions in
between various social classes and to identify various injustices in between them. To ensure that their
views and opinions of the Communist party were proliferated throughout as much of the continent of
Europe as possible, Marx and Engels requested that editions be published in multiple languages for
multiple understandings. Therefore, after the original German text was created and published, Danish,

Online Vs Traditional Classes Essay
Many more people would enjoy school if it was convenient to their time. A great solution to this
problem is online classes. Some wonder if online classes are just as educational as traditional classes,
and if the discussions are as easy to understand without the face to face interaction with the instructor.
In this paper I will be discussing how online classes can be just as educational and are more
convenient to those who have busy schedules. The points of comparison are assignments, testing and
materials, convenience and interaction/discussions. The first thing I compared for online and
traditional classes were the assignments. Assignments for both classes require resource materials like
text books. For traditional class students the assignments are homework , but online students do all of
their work at home, so it is not necessarily called homework for them. Both classes require a specific
turn in date specified by their professor. Traditional classes have more of an advantage because
classmates are able to check each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interaction and discussion between the two different types of classes is very different. Traditional
classes offer a more face to face social interaction and allow students to meet fellow classmates easier
than those who are taking online classes. The discussions for online classes is based on comments and
emails sent between each other. Those in online classes are barely able to talk to professors due to
slow feedback and they are not able to communicate easily with classmate unless they reach out
through chat rooms or emails. This is difficult because students are unaware of others schedules and it
is harder to reach out because they may be busy at the times you are not. An advantage of online
classes is students are able to learn from professors around the world which allows them to broaden

Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary Case Study
Only 100 miles off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, there is a marine ecosystem teeming with life.
This ecosystem is called the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary (FGBNMS). FGBNMS
is a coral reef that monitored and preserved by NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration. NOAA sees the FGBNMS as a valuable natural resource that we need to protect. The
intent of this memo is to identify the resources that FGBNMS provides, what policies are in place to
protect those resources, what effect these policies have had, and what actions to take from this point
forward. Fortunately, the policies regarding this natural resource are accomplishing the goal of
protecting this reef, so I do not recommend to many changes to the existing policies, except for a few
slight changes.
Resources that FGBNMS Provides
The resources provided by this coral reef can be categorized into one of three types: externalities,
public goods, and common pool goods. An externality can be understood as unintended impacts of a

the FGBNMS Advisory Council (AC) was formed. The AC is made of 6 different committees that
address specific priority issues within the sanctuary (National Ocean Service, 2015a). Sanctuary staff

Comparing Beowulf And Reverend Al Sharpton
Heroes: Two Heroes of Two Different Centuries If one hundred people were asked the meaning of the
word hero, each of them would have a different definition. The word hero has several definitions
based on the fact that the definition varies based on the person who is being asked. The late author,
poet, and civil rights activist Maya Angelou defines a hero as ... any person really intent on making
[the place they live] a better place for all people (Zevallos). Her definition pinpoints why Beowulf and
Reverend Al Sharpton are both heroes. Even though Beowulf and Reverend Al Sharpton were born in
different time periods and places, they have more differences and some similarities.

One way they are different is that the physical strength of each hero is different. Beowulf is a hero
who has inhuman strength, while Al Sharpton just has regular human strength. Beowulf has so much
strength that he rips off a monster s entire arm, whereas Sharpton could not even rip off piece of a
human s arm if he used all of his strength. Another difference is that Beowulf is loyal to his king
unlike Reverend Al Sharpton who isn t loyal to anyone. For example, Beowulf proves he is loyal to
Hrothgar by deciding to help the Danes. Beowulf is loyal to Hrothgar because Hrothgar helped his
father win a feud. Sharpton on the other hand, is not loyal to a king or anyone. He does his heroic
activities because he wants to do them, not because of loyalty. In addition, they are also different in
the fact that they fight two completely different types of battles. Reverend Al Sharpton fights the battle
of trying to get justice for people who have been wronged or have died of an unjustifiable death. For
example, when Trayvon Martin was killed by George Zimmerman, Sharpton was one of the main
leaders in all of the protests to get Zimmerman indicted on murder charges. In contrast, Beowulf fights
battles either in wars or against monsters which is completely different from the battles that Rev. Al

Inorganic Chemicals Cause Water Pollution
Inorganic chemicals is one of most important causes to water pollutants. These inorganic pollutants
naturally found in environment but due to human develepment activities, these pollutant amount has
been increasing rapidly and released into water bodies. The most common inorganic pollutants from
water are ammonium, phosphorus, arsenic, cadmiun, zinc, lead etc. It is highly toxic to human and
environment (Choi et al., 2011). The inorganic pollutant such as ammonia and phosphorus promote
eutrophication, which excessive amounts of these inorganic pollutant releasing into the water can
accelerate this phenomena in a few years (Donald M et al., 2002). The overgrowth of plants and
subsequent death have been created green layer on the surface of water bodies. These layer can be
blocked the penetration of light and oxidation process into the water bodies. Thus, depletion of
dissolved oxygen can be occurred in the water and affected aquatic life. The death and decay of
aquatic life contribute unpleasant smells and increasing the turbidity of water bodies (Conley et al.,
2009). In additional, the heavy metal such as arsenic can causes skin, lung, bladder, and kidney cancer
as well as pigmentation changes, skin thickening (hyperkeratosis) neurological disorders, muscular
weakness, loss of appetite, and nausea (Mohan and Pittman, 2007). The long term exposure to

Van Gogh Contributions
Vincent Van Gogh, one of the world s greatest artists, was born March 30, 1853. He was a post
impressionist painter, whose paintings became well known for their beauty, emotion, and color.
Creating over two thousand works of art, he was an important influence on 20th century art. Many of
his paintings depicted his strong religious views about life and nature. Living a very troubled life, he
continually struggled with mental illness. In a moment of instability, Vincent Van Gogh cut off his
own ear, offering it as a payment to a prostitute. Realizing his mental health was deteriorating, he
committed himself to an insane asylum. Many of his paintings were completed while institutionalized
at the asylum. Two of his most well known paintings, Starry Night and Irises, were among those
paintings completed at the asylum. Each of these paintings, exhibits both the beauty and pain he truly
felt. Van Gogh died in France on July 29, 1890, from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Though he
remained poor and almost unknown throughout his life, he is now considered the greatest Dutch artist
aside from Rembrandt (Anderson 1 3). While living in Paris Van Gogh me and interacted with many
great artists causing him to discover his true calling and a great love for painting. His art often used
bold colors and very expressive images. Van Gogh was known for his thick application of paint on
canvas, which was called impasto. Impasto is a painting technique where paint is laid on so thickly

Zimbabwean Government- Prime Minister Mugabe’s Influence
Zimbabwean Government Prime Minister Mugabe s Influence Due to Britain s legacy of domination
and political exploitation, Zimbabwe has struggled to enact meaningful democracy. Prime Minister
Mugabe was influenced by British rule and precedent to gain control and to use his position to keep
the lower class people at the bottom. Pamela Machakanja stated that, the government concentrated
wealth and power in the ruling class and stifled popular dissent through repression and the systemic
use of military force (Machakanja). During the colonial era in Zimbabwe, the British exercised control
by discriminating against the native people and having an oppressive regime. Mugabe used the same
tactics on his own people, which lead to his dictatorial position in government. Once an elected
official, Mugabe used his power to change the constitution and abolish the position of Prime Minister.
He was renamed the Head of State, thereby giving him, even more authority over executive and
legislative branches (Cernak, 73).
It was stated in the article, Zimbabwe Health Care, Paid With Peanuts that, Mugabe s [the president s]
continued domination of political life, along with persistent violations of the rule of law and human
rights, have deterred foreign aid and investment needed to rebuild the nation s shattered economy
(Dugger, 1). Not only is the government corrupt, but, under Mugabe, it was not in favor of its people.

Cedar Sauna Research Paper
Growing up along the shores of Lake Superior meant that a traditional Finnish sauna was part your
life. In fact some homes did not have a shower or a tub in the home. Instead a Finnish sauna with its
cold water spicket or shower took their place. Most all saunas were built by the home owner using
local designs. A cedar sauna was the most common type that was constructed. However some were
also built using Eastern Hemlock. A Northern white cedar sauna was the most preferred construction.
For more than 300 years white cedar was used to line the cedar chests that people store their clothes
in. When the clothes were taken from the chest they had the great fresh cedar smell that we all
enjoyed. A cedar sauna also provides same great aroma as it was heated. Frequently the sauna stove
was fueled with white cedar kindling. A cedar fire will snap loudly and quickly give a hot fire heating
the cedar sauna in a matter of minutes even in the dead of winter. Once the cedar sauna was heated,
water was ladled on the stove rocks releasing moisture that further increased the cedar aroma. A white
cedar sauna had more benefits that just a great aroma. White cedar is softwood that is very easy to

locations that have poorly drained soils a drainage system must be built beneath the sauna to carry
excess water away. A good sauna must also have a good door that insulates and seals the heat inside.
Because cedar is a good insulator and is a very light weight wood it is ideal for constructing a sauna

require the use of cryptography in which data is being encrypted and converted to cipher text and then
decrypted to original form on reaching the second party. It is an indispensable tool for secured
communication between two parties in the presence of third party. This article attempts to introduce
the various algorithms which can be successfully used to ensure the security in banks. These
algorithms include Shift algorithm, Polyalphabetic Cipher, Affine Cipher, RSA, DSA etc.

MATHEMATICAL CRYPTOLOGY IN BANKING SECTOR
Cryptography is an indispensable tool of techniques for the secured communication between two
parties in the presence of third party. A cryptographic algorithm is a mathematical function for
encryption or decryption where encryption is the process of translating plain text/ data into a random
and meaningless (cipher text) data and decryption is the process of converting cipher text back into
plain text. In most of the cases, two functions are involved, one for encryption and the other for
decryption. It is basically about constructing and analyzing protocols which prevents public from
reading the private messages. It is mostly based on mathematical theory and computer science practice

importance of it, they easily destroy the mangrove ecosystem to build the shrimp pond or what so

atmospheric carbon dioxide. Mangroves are one of the largest carbon storage areas. Although
mangroves occupy only 0.5% of the global coastal area, they contribute 10 15% to coastal sediment
carbon storage and also export 10 11% of the particulate terrestrial carbon to the ocean. Their
contribution to carbon sequestration is now perceived as a means for conservation and restoration and
a way to help in mitigate the climate change. As from year to year, the global warming keeps

Mandate Of Heaven Analysis
Throughout pre unification China, the Mandate of Heaven was used as a justification in the
acquisition and eradication of dynasties. The Mandate of Heaven, the idea that a ruler reigned only
with the blessing of the heavens, was seen as a way to legitimize a dynasty and its ruler. Although it
may seem as if a heavenly mandate gives a ruler absolute power, this is actually not the case. Instead,
Mencius, a philosopher who emphasizes benevolent governance, asserts that a ruler can both acquire
and lose the heavenly mandate based on his behavior and the treatment of his subjects. If a ruler is not
equitable, in other words, the Mandate of Heaven can be withdrawn and bestowed upon a more
qualified ruler. Thus, although the mandate sounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, the heavens bestow the mandate upon the ruler, but the people are a factor in whether the
mandate stays with the ruler or not. Hence, Mencius emphasizes the importance of just rule in order to
please the people and keep the Mandate of Heaven.
Mencius once again underscores the people s role in the heavenly mandate and declares their right to
either abide by or revolt against a ruler. Mencius claims that rulers only possessed the Heavenly
Mandate to rule so long as they retained the hearts of the people . . . For Mencius, the human heart
was endowed with the ability to judge between right and wrong and constituted a bridge linking man
with Heaven (Glanville 331). Mencius s belief in the ability of the heart to determine right or wrong
gives the common people authority and power to identify whether a ruler is worthy of the mandate and
the favor of the heavens. Consequently, it is imperative that the ruler retains the people s support as
negative sentiments can lead to dissent and organized revolt amongst the people. This emphasis on the
intimate and powerful link between the people and the heavens is translated in Mencius s concept of
the ultimate supremacy of the people. Mencius declares that The people are of supreme importance;
the altars to the gods of earth and grain come next; last comes the ruler (Glanville 332). Mencius

Rhetorical Analysis Of President Obama s Inauguration Speech
The Inauguration address is made by the newly sworn in President of the United States every four
years. This custom started, by our nation s first President George Washington, in 1789 (President).
Every President since Washington has given this speech. Presidents utilize this to bestow their plan in
the forthcoming years of the United States and ambitions for America. This is utmost one of the most
important days in the History of America as it signaled the birth of a new nation. In today s context it
signals a peaceful exchange of power in the most disruptive of times. The speech is primarily given
out to the citizens of the United States, who need to know what the future holds for them; Now in a
world of globalization and foreign policy this speech is paid attention to throughout the world. All
Inaugural addresses are similar. First they start with their greeting, then examine the state of the
nation, the newly elected President presents the issues of the country and the plan to solve them. After
the President draws upon powerful lessons and rhetoric to bring inspiration to the American people
and finally closes off to end the address. President Obama was no stranger to that as he has done that,
like every President before him, not once but twice, in 2009 and 2013. Using rhetoric, President

The Death Of An Athlete Dying Young
Housman s To An Athlete Dying Young
A. E. Housman s To an Athlete Dying Young, also known as Lyric XIX in A
Shropshire Lad, holds as its main theme the premature death of a young athlete as told from the point
of view of a friend serving as pall bearer. The poem reveals the concept that those dying at the peak of
their glory or youth are really quite lucky. The first few readings of To an Athlete Dying Young
provides the reader with an understanding of Housman s view of death.
Additional readings reveal Housman s attempt to convey the classical idea that youth, beauty, and
glory can be preserved only in death.
A line by line analysis helps to determine the purpose of the poem. The first stanza of the poem tells of
the athlete s triumph and his glory filled parade through the town in which the crowd loves and cheers
for him. As Bobby
Joe Leggett defines at this point, the athlete is carried of the shoulders of his friends after a winning
race (54). In Housman s words:
The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder high. (Housman 967).
Stanza two describes a much more somber procession. The athlete is being carried to his grave. In
Leggett s opinion, The parallels between this procession and the former triumph are carefully drawn
(54). The reader should see that
Housman makes another reference to shoulders as an allusion to connect the

Sethe s storytelling begins to release the pressure built up inside of her mind, leaking out through each
breath in and out. It s described as a way to feed and a substance to thirst for, implying it s necessity
when equated to food or drink. The release of her painful emotions are essential to Sethe s recovery,
and they are intensely stimulated through synesthesia. By connecting the necessity of food to Sethe s
necessity of opening up the coffin of the past, the reader is handed the ability to see how important it
is for her to relinquish those stories to not just Beloved, but herself as well. Next, Morrison felt the
need to give this quote not one meaning, but two! She begins the quote with, it became a way to feed

her serves the purpose as the storytelling can be construed to feed both Beloved who is curious about

design, responsible government is fashioned through negative control in other words, by dissenting

Trump has not demonstrated an understanding of national and international concepts, such as the

including the return of waterboarding. Both proposals are violations of the Geneva Convention, which

alarming, but Trump s lack of diplomacy has insulted at least 217 different people, objects, and places,

Essay on The Ontological Argument for the Existence of God
The Ontological Argument for the Existence of God
The ontological argument is an a priori argument. The arguments attempt to prove God s existence
from the meaning of the word God. The ontological argument was introduced by Anselm of
Canterbury in his book Proslogion. Anselm s classical argument was based on two principals and the
two most involved in this is St Anselm of Canterbury as previously mentioned and Rene Descartes.
The ontological argument argues that if you understand what it means to talk about God, you will see
His existence is necessarily true. Anselm defined God as that than which nothing greater can be

If He did not exist, then you could still think of an even greater being (one just like God that you said
did not exist, except this one would exist). Existence must be one of God s attributes because to
remove it, you would still be able to fathom a greater God (one which does exist). The problem most
have with this argument is that it seems to simply list existence among God s attributes, rather than
show it. The argument appears to say whatever you can imagine should be true in reality.
Descartes claimed God exists is true, if we know what it means to talk of God. Similarly, he
maintained that once we know what a triangle is we know that it must have three sides. Like a triangle
inherently must have three sides, so God inherently must exist.
Objections to the ontological argument were first brought up by a monk who was a contemporary of
Anselm named Gaunilo. He said that according to Anselm s line of reasoning, if he envisioned an
island that is beautiful and sparkling and completely perfect, then it must exist. For an island that does
exist would be more perfect than one that does not exist. Gaunilo said that we cannot simply define
things into existence. We cannot show an island or God exists simply by analyzing that idea.
A critique of Descartes comes from the philosopher David Hume who argued against the

Cultural Beliefs In The Odyssey By Beowulf
In The Odyssey, the Cyclops symbolizes cultural values straying from the norm of society, while in
Beowulf, Grendel symbolizes the consequences of not conforming to those values.
In The Odyssey, Homer uses the Cyclops to encapsulate values which are considered abnormal in
everyday society. The beasts are culturally, politically and religiously detached from civilization.
Homer describes the one eyed beasts, They have no meeting place for council, no laws either, no, up
on the mountain peaks they live in arching caverns each a law to himself, ruling his wives and
children, not a care in the world for any neighbor (9.125 128) In ancient greek society family and
community were heavily valued, however it seems that each Cyclops wants nothing to do with the
others, revealing them as cultural outsiders who wouldn t be accepted among humanity. Additionally,
the brutes have no meeting place for council, no laws either. The Odyssey was written in the 8th
century BC, during the beginnings of Archaic Greece. City states were the popular form of
government and communal decision making started to gain value. In stark contrast to this form of
politics, the Cyclops made decisions for themselves, rarely communicating with anyone but their own
families. Their governmental actions stray far from the Greeks public standards. Perhaps the largest
difference between the Cyclops and any other Greek citizen though, is their religious difference. The
Cyclops boasts to Odysseus, We Cyclops

As a result, oftentimes young girls strongly identify with princess culture and even into adulthood we
not only blindly seek our own happily ever after but we assume that girls innately love princesses,

of the classic Disney movies spend a great portion of their screen time painting its leading female
character as a damsel in distress. This princess culture suggests that despite other defining
characteristics, a females most valuable asset is her beauty above all else. These Disney movies also
imply that girls should be sweet despite the lousy hand they were dealt.
Sleeping Beauty is indeed beautiful and sweet, but spends most her movie hiding, and as a result, ends

Beowulf, An Anglo Saxon Epic Poem
Beowulf, an Anglo Saxon epic poem, contains several rhetorical strategies. The poem follows the life
of a noble warrior named Beowulf while he quests to live up to his father s name. In the poem,
Beowulf overcame many obstacles primarily those of which involved battling supernatural creatures.
Epic poems were generally written during the Anglo Saxon era. They are commonly written in an
elevated style in order to glorify the deeds of a legendary hero or god. Literary works during the Anglo
Saxon era usually focussed around a quintessential war hero of strength and noble standing while
often times referring to the Bible and Christianity. These traits of Anglo Saxon writing can
undoubtedly be found within Beowulf. Throughout the poem, the author expresses epic poem traits
through the use of rhetorical strategies. The author used literary devices such as imagery, allusion,
metaphors, and tone to express the epic traits of a legendary hero with significance, a vast setting, and
supernatural beings.
Beowulf, the fearless warrior of Geatland, established his role in the novel as the stereotypical Anglo
Saxon main character. Throughout the poem, Beowulf was unconditionally praised by the people for
his valor and strength. He commonly boasted about his fearless characteristics, When it comes to
fighting, I count myself as dangerous any day as Grendel. So it won t be a cutting edge I ll wield to
mow him down, easily as I might, (677 680). In this quote, the author uses the

Effects Of Betrayal In The Renaissance
The end of the Middle Ages and the flowering of the Renaissance brought many shifts to European
societal structure. The face of Christianity changed considerably from the fourteenth century to the
mid sixteenth century, beginning with disagreement over who should hold absolute power, the Pope or
the Holy Roman Emperor. While the corporate Catholic church had once maintained a fairly unified
influence on society, a more nuanced form of Christianity began developing, leading to reformed
religious groups with opposing views, namely the Protestants and Anglicans. In the wake of differing
opinions, people s group identification determined what people they sided with and who they wouldn t
tolerate. With more complex religious and political perspectives, people could distance themselves
ideologically from peers, family, and leaders. Frequent mentions of treacherous actions within the
literature of this time demonstrates that these differing views made people feel betrayed by their
associates. The idea of betrayal is prominent in the lives and texts of several authors of this period,
including Dante, Thomas More, and Niccolò Machiavelli. From a Christian perspective, betrayal was
a grave sin befitting serious punishment, while it was irrational from a Humanist perspective and an
inevitable, even beneficial part of mankind from an amoral perspective. During the tumultuous
political and religious climate of the High Middle Ages and Renaissance, conflicting sociopolitical
groupings and

The Truman Show Delusion
2) My paragraph on the problem: The Truman Show delusion is a psychosis that is easier to
understand when one views it as a cultural manifestation, across countries, and over time, of
delusional disorders. In order to cope with increased levels of stress, just as an overly sensitive system
may resort to clinically recognized delusions such as grandiosity (imagining themselves to be
someone strong and invulnerable) it is equally probable, given the increasing popularity of reality TV
shows, that the delusion involves becoming a famous version of oneself . The form the delusional
disorder is the same, only the content has changed. This is further supported by current trends where
social media dominates our lives, where one leads a constantly

Analysis Of Pinocchio In A Thousand Splendid Sunss
The novel A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini, tells the heartbreaking tale of a woman in
the middle east, the hardships she must face, and the various social dynamics she encounters. The film
Pinocchio is mentioned or alluded to in the beginning and in the end of the novel. The classic 1940 s
film, Pinocchio, details the adventures of a wooden puppet, the creation of an old and lonely
woodworker, for whom the film is titled after who is turned into a real boy by a magical fairy.
Pinocchio must prove his worth in order to fully transition into a human child. Unfortunately, he is
often led astray by his habitual lying, at which point his nose grows, and when he is taken to Pleasure
Island, a land filled with mischievous and immoral young boys, by a manipulative man. In A
Thousand Splendid Suns, the film Pinocchio is symbolic of the main character, Mariam, and her father
s relationship, and it also serves as a milestone to mark the beginning and end of this touching
narrative. The first instance the film is mentioned in the novel, a very young Mariam tells her father,
[for her birthday] I want you to take me to your cinema, I want to see the cartoon. I want to see the
puppet boy. (Hosseini 47). One can imagine the childlike purity of such an innocent request, to fulfill
it would cost nothing, and to deny it would show a severe lack of empathy. Regardless, Nana, Mariam
s mother, replies coldly and ambiguously with That s not a good idea. (47). To this, Jalil,

Unemployment Rate In The United States
Sypnosis (50 100 words)
The U.S. employment rate has fallen, resulting in the addition of 173000 jobs, which is below
expectations. This is mostly due to people searching for jobs or giving up on doing so. This, along
with a jittery stock market and uneven growth, has created doubt in the U.S. economy s ability to
handle a rate increase. Inflation and economic growth also contributes to the unemployment rate in the
U.S.
Analysis (500 700 words)
This article is related to macroeconomic which examines how the economy functions and its
performance. Unemployment as a whole is related to macroeconomics. There are many reasons as to
why a person could be unemployed. He or she could be retrenched, fired or still be looking for a job.
However, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inflation is when there in an increase in price of goods and service, causing there to be a fall in the
currency as lesser goods and services can be brought by each unit of currency due to the rise in price.
Rapid economic growth will often lead to inflation. When the economy is rapidly growing, a company
will need to employ more employees, resulting to a fall in unemployment rate. As unemployment rate
falls, lesser people will be looking for jobs and the company will find it harder to fill up job vacancies.
This will cause the salaries of the workers as well as company spending to increase, resulting in the
company passing on the extra costs to the consumer. Together with the raise in salaries for the
employees, they will have more to spend, resulting in an increase in an aggregate demand. All this will
result in rapid economic growth, where the increase in price will cause inflation to occur.
Conclusion ( 50 100 words)
Rapid economic growth is one thing we should avoid as this could lead to inflation which could result
in recession or even worse situation. Inflation results in an increase in price which will make it
difficult to predict future goods and service cost. Investments in the country will be lower causing the
country to have even poorer economic growth (EconomicsHelp, n.d.). Unemployment is therefore an
important factor as it will affect the economic

questions ask, the complaints made, the decisions postponed, the responsibilities avoided. These forms
of behavior are discretionary to help enhance and enliven the administrative process that promotes the

  • 2. High Cost Of A College Education Essay Right now in our society a college education is no longer an option or privilege, but rather a necessity. We were practically raised and conditioned to believe that we need a higher education in order to succeed in life. As opposed to generations of the past, high school students today are unable to obtain the number of high paying jobs that were once available. • 5. Chesapeake Colonies Vs New England Colonies As stories of the New World drifted back to the old, a new start appealed to the residents of a troubled, turbulent England. Poverty had made it difficult for many to provide for their families, forcing them to seek their livelihood elsewhere. Displaced peasants traveled to the already overpopulated major cities such as London, hoping to scrape by. Around the same time, King Henry VIII severed ties with the Catholic Church, establishing the Church of England, a Catholic sect with himself at the head. This led to confusion and dissent within England, ending in the eventual rise of the Protestant William and Mary until the rise of Elizabeth I, when she severed ties with Rome anew. This religious confusion led to an unstable religious climate in England, resulting in persecution of many different religions. Social, economic and religious issues led many to look to the Americas as an opportunity to start fresh, economically and religiously. Although the New England and the Chesapeake regions both started as small colonies, simply hoping to get by in the New World, by the 18th century they developed into drastically different cultures. The New England region consisted of many Puritans who fled England seeking religious freedom, while the Chesapeake region consisted of young Englishmen seeking wealth. Despite their similar hope for a better life in the New World, as a result of differences in topography, economy, religious background and overall societal views, the two colonies had developed into two distinct societies by the 1700s. Before either the New England or Chesapeake colonies were founded, the differences in the intentions of its founders foreshadowed the two distinct societies the colonies would become. Jamestown, the first of the Chesapeake colonies, was founded on the premise of accumulating wealth. Settlers traveled to the New World in hopes of economic opportunity for themselves and their investors, spending their early days searching for gold. Instead, Mencius, a philosopher who emphasizes benevolent governance, asserts that a ruler can both acquire and lose the heavenly mandate based on his behavior and the treatment of his subjects. If a ruler is not equitable, in other words, the Mandate of Heaven can be withdrawn and bestowed upon a more qualified ruler. Thus, although the mandate sounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially, the heavens bestow the mandate upon the ruler, but the people are a factor in whether the mandate stays with the ruler or not. Hence, Mencius emphasizes the importance of just rule in order to please the people and keep the Mandate of Heaven. Mencius once again underscores the people s role in the heavenly mandate and declares their right to either abide by or revolt against a ruler. Mencius claims that rulers only possessed the Heavenly Mandate to rule so long as they retained the hearts of the people . . . For Mencius, the human heart was endowed with the ability to judge between right and wrong and constituted a bridge linking man with Heaven (Glanville 331). Mencius s belief in the ability of the heart to determine right or wrong gives the common people authority and power to identify whether a ruler is worthy of the mandate and the favor of the heavens. Consequently, it is imperative that the ruler retains the people s support as negative sentiments can lead to dissent and organized revolt amongst the people. This emphasis on the intimate and powerful link between the people and the heavens is translated in Mencius s concept of the ultimate supremacy of the people. Mencius declares that The people are of supreme importance; the altars to the gods of earth and grain come next; last comes the ruler (Glanville 332). Mencius prioritizes the ... Housman s To an Athlete Dying Young, also known as Lyric XIX in A Shropshire Lad, holds as its main theme the premature death of a young athlete as told from the point of view of a friend serving as pall bearer. The poem reveals the concept that those dying at the peak of their glory or youth are really quite lucky. The first few readings of To an Athlete Dying Young provides the reader with an understanding of Housman s view of death. Additional readings reveal Housman s attempt to convey the classical idea that youth, beauty, and glory can be preserved only in death. A line by line analysis helps to determine the purpose of the poem. The first stanza of the poem tells of the athlete s triumph and his glory filled parade through the town in which the crowd loves and cheers for him. As Bobby Joe Leggett defines at this point, the athlete is carried of the shoulders of his friends after a winning race (54). In Housman s words: The time you won your town the race We chaired you through the market place; Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder high. (Housman 967). Stanza two describes a much more somber procession. The athlete is being carried to his grave. In Leggett s opinion, The parallels between this procession and the former triumph are carefully drawn (54). The arguments attempt to prove God s existence from the meaning of the word God. The ontological argument was introduced by Anselm of Canterbury in his book Proslogion. Anselm s classical argument was based on two principals and the two most involved in this is St Anselm of Canterbury as previously mentioned and Rene Descartes. The ontological argument argues that if you understand what it means to talk about God, you will see His existence is necessarily true. Anselm defined God as that than which nothing greater can be conceived , hence God must exist. Anselm also believed that even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If He did not exist, then you could still think of an even greater being (one just like God that you said did not exist, except this one would exist). Existence must be one of God s attributes because to remove it, you would still be able to fathom a greater God (one which does exist). The problem most have with this argument is that it seems to simply list existence among God s attributes, rather than show it. The argument appears to say whatever you can imagine should be true in reality. Descartes claimed God exists is true, if we know what it means to talk of God. Similarly, he maintained that once we know what a triangle is we know that it must have three sides. Like a triangle inherently must have three sides, so God inherently must exist. Objections to the ontological argument were first brought up by a monk who was a contemporary of Anselm named Gaunilo. He said that according to Anselm s line of reasoning, if he envisioned an island that is beautiful and sparkling and completely perfect, then it must exist. For an island that does exist would be more perfect than one that does not exist. Gaunilo said that we cannot simply define things into existence. We cannot show an island or God exists simply by analyzing that idea. A critique of Descartes comes from the philosopher David Hume who argued against the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In The Odyssey, Homer uses the Cyclops to encapsulate values which are considered abnormal in everyday society. The beasts are culturally, politically and religiously detached from civilization. Homer describes the one eyed beasts, They have no meeting place for council, no laws either, no, up on the mountain peaks they live in arching caverns each a law to himself, ruling his wives and children, not a care in the world for any neighbor (9.125 128) In ancient greek society family and community were heavily valued, however it seems that each Cyclops wants nothing to do with the others, revealing them as cultural outsiders who wouldn t be accepted among humanity. Additionally, the brutes have no meeting place for council, no laws either. The Odyssey was written in the 8th century BC, during the beginnings of Archaic Greece. City states were the popular form of government and communal decision making started to gain value. In stark contrast to this form of politics, the Cyclops made decisions for themselves, rarely communicating with anyone but their own families. Their governmental actions stray far from the Greeks public standards. Perhaps the largest difference between the Cyclops and any other Greek citizen though, is their religious difference. The poem follows the life of a noble warrior named Beowulf while he quests to live up to his father s name. In the poem, Beowulf overcame many obstacles primarily those of which involved battling supernatural creatures. Epic poems were generally written during the Anglo Saxon era. They are commonly written in an elevated style in order to glorify the deeds of a legendary hero or god. Literary works during the Anglo Saxon era usually focussed around a quintessential war hero of strength and noble standing while often times referring to the Bible and Christianity. • 43. Effects Of Betrayal In The Renaissance The end of the Middle Ages and the flowering of the Renaissance brought many shifts to European societal structure. The face of Christianity changed considerably from the fourteenth century to the mid sixteenth century, beginning with disagreement over who should hold absolute power, the Pope or the Holy Roman Emperor. While the corporate Catholic church had once maintained a fairly unified influence on society, a more nuanced form of Christianity began developing, leading to reformed religious groups with opposing views, namely the Protestants and Anglicans. In the wake of differing opinions, people s group identification determined what people they sided with and who they wouldn t tolerate. With more complex religious and political perspectives, people could distance themselves ideologically from peers, family, and leaders. Frequent mentions of treacherous actions within the literature of this time demonstrates that these differing views made people feel betrayed by their associates. The idea of betrayal is prominent in the lives and texts of several authors of this period, including Dante, Thomas More, and Niccolò Machiavelli.
