1. Ethics Essay Examples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Ethics Essay Examples" can present a unique set of
challenges. First and foremost, the broad nature of ethics as a field demands a thorough
understanding of various ethical theories, principles, and real-world applications. This
necessitates extensive research to grasp the historical context, evolution of ethical thought, and
contemporary perspectives.
One difficulty lies in synthesizing diverse examples that effectively illustrate ethical dilemmas,
moral decision-making, or ethical lapses. Locating relevant and compelling case studies or
instances requires time and effort. Additionally, the writer must navigate the intricate nuances of
these examples to offer insightful analysis and draw meaningful conclusions.
Another challenge is the need for a balanced approach. The essay should not only showcase
ethical challenges but also provide a fair exploration of opposing viewpoints. Striking the right
balance requires careful consideration to avoid biases and maintain an objective tone throughout
the essay.
Moreover, addressing the ever-evolving nature of ethical discussions can be daunting. Keeping
the content up-to-date with contemporary ethical issues, debates, and evolving ethical standards
is crucial. This adds an extra layer of complexity to the research process, as staying current

2. My Experience With A Child
You have competition every day because you set such high standards for yourself
that you have to go out every day and live up to that (Michael Jordan). This quote
perfectly describes my mentality as a child and currently as a young adult. As a
child, I was curious and determined as my family recalls. My mother never lets me
forget the number of times she had to free my fingers from the holes of shopping
carts because I was curious if they would fit. As I got older and a bit more
independent, I remember going into my kitchen cabinets and grabbing several
different ingredients, namely flour, oil, and water and creating different mixtures of
different textures and consistencies. I was fascinated in my creations. Along with this

After a successful freshman year, my advisor encouraged me to pursue a summer
research internship. I was offered an internship through the Massachusetts Life
Science Center and was placed at Pressure Biosciences Inc. (PBI) in Medford,
Massachusetts. I was overjoyed to work in the Boston area because of the
blossoming biomedical engineering research centers. During my time at PBI, I
worked to improve both the yield and quality of the protein extracted from Formalin
Fixed Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) tissue, using high pressure systems engineered by
PBI. Over the course of my two month internship, I optimized the deparaffinization
method of the FFPE tissues along with the amount and type of pressure (steady or
oscillating) that was applied to the samples. I improved basic lab techniques, and
acquired new skills such as various sonication and homogenization methods and
running RC DC (reducing agent and detergent compatible) protein assays. I also
gained experience working independently on research projects. This internship
introduced me to the life of an independent research scientist and motivated me to
pursue a career in research. The most impactful aspect of this internship, however,
was the fact that it forced me to abandon my life science based comfort zone, and
start to think and research as an engineer. I became familiar with the high pressure
equipment and its software, and I was absolutely fascinated by the
3. Columbine Shooting Conclusion
On April 20, 1999 a massacre happened at Columbine High school. This is a day
that Cassie Bernall died. Two boys one day decided to show up to the school with
guns. Many people have two of the wrong conclusion as to what happened that day.
The first one is the two boys wanted to get revenge on the bullies that made them
miserable at Columbine. They were known as the Trench Coat Mafia outcasts The
second conclusion is the unexplainable: We can never understand what drove them to
madness that day. But the correct conclusion to this situation was they wanted to kill
people at the school. They planned the shooting a year and advanced. These two
boys killed 13 kids and wounded 23 before they ended their own lives. One of the
students that died
4. Seinfeld s Impact on American Culture Essay
Seinfeld s Impact on American Culture
Jerry Seinfeld s television sitcom, Seinfeld, which went off the air in 1999, is still
one of the most culturally pertinent shows today. The show dealt with little nuances
of American society. A puffy shirt, for example, could be the main subject for an
entire show. This show, which was derived from Jerry Seinfeld s observational
humor, was voted as the Greatest Show of All Time by TV Guide in 2002.
According to the show s official website, the ratings for the syndicated version of
Seinfeld are ahead of many of the current primetime comedies ( Seinfeld 2/5).

Of his obsessive nature his mother said: He never wanted just a piece of chocolate
cake, it was the whole cake. And he always waited until he got what he wanted (
Jerry Seinfeld 1/7).
Soon Seinfeld s easy to relate to humor gave way to regular appearances on The
Tonight Show and Late Night with David Letterman. Other more gimmicky
comedians failed the test of time, but Seinfeld s steadfast style made his popularity
bloom. Despite national exposure, Seinfeld still stayed close to his roots, continuing
to play at small venues as well as on television. With jokes like: They say Tide cleans
bloodstains. I say if you ve got a T shirt with bloodstains, then maybe laundry isn t
your biggest problem ( Jerry Seinfeld 3/7) it s not hard to see why Seinfeld caught on.
In 1990, Seinfeld, a sitcom based on Seinfeld s humor, debuted as a summer
replacement show. Seinfeld allowed characters on the show to embody some of the
idiosyncrasies his stand up comedy had observed. Seinfeld played himself on the
show, and the other characters on the sitcom were based on friends and
acquaintances in Seinfeld s real life. The show was set in a recognizable Manhattan
with specific storefronts and locales in the cut scenes and dialogue. The plot of an
episode of Seinfeld usually centered on the daily menial tasks of the characters and
the little quirks that they observed along the way. Seinfeld, widely

However, the length also affects other areas of the state s political structure. The state
of Nevada was signed into the Union by President Lincoln on October 31, 1864.
Since then, Nevada has made a few minor amendments to its Constitution throughout
the years. The fundamental amendments within the Nevada Constitution have
remained for the most part, stable. The U.S constitution was meant to be more
general in nature, so, the fact that it is shorter than Nevada s Constitution is to be
expected. When dealing with State Constitutions, particularly Nevada s, there are
going to be amendments that are inherent only to that state. For instance, in the
Constitution of Nevada, there are special amendments for the revenue of taxes that
deal with gambling. Gaming taxes are the largest source of revenue for the state of
Nevada s general fund. This source of income has helped to shape another aspect of
Nevada s Constitution in respect to a state lottery being prohibited. The reason why a
state lottery has been essentially outlawed in Nevada boils down to the Casinos not
wanting direct competition for gaming revenue (Grimes). Even though taxes from
having a state lottery would help Nevada, the ample amount of tax revenue that the
Casinos produce for the state have influenced the state legislature to reject dozens of
lottery proposals (Grimes). When considering the length of the Nevada Constitution it
is also pertinent

Thirteen year old Anne Frank is stuck in an attic for 2 years during World War II.
This can sometimes take a toll on one s personality. Anne Frank s book titled The
Diary of Anne Frank takes people through what it was like to be a Jewish teenager
during World War II. Anne and her family was forced to move into hiding, because
of the harsh measures being taken by Nazis to rid Europe of Jews. During Anne s
time in the annex, readers get to know her well, as she changes from the beginning, to

7. The Importance Of Bilingual Education In The United
States
A common joke says What do you call someone who speaks two languages? in
which the person being asked the question would usually respond with bilingual. It
goes on to ask about those who speak three or four languages, but then there is a
kicker. What does one call someone who only speaks one language? to which the
punch line is an American. According to the 2006 General Social Survey, only 25
percent of American adults are fluent in a foreign language, while only 7 percent cite
the source of this educationto formal schooling (Devlin 1). Large amounts of
evidence point to the benefits of being multilingual. Although the United States has a

It is important in the United States to have a competitive workforce, and a great way
to do that is to have a society of learners that can communicate with people of other
cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Although there are efforts for teaching school
children other languages, most programs are primitive at best, left to be forgotten
before the skills reach the point of relevancy. Dual language programs should be
established in the US wherever feasible to give parents, at the very least, the choice to
expand the minds of their children. Recent years have seen the inclusion of voluntary
language immersion programs in places such as Athens, Georgia, in which students
are taught from Kindergarten in two languages. These are steps in the right
8. Volunteering In Public Schools
Many schools need to push students to participate in volunteering services to receive
their high school diploma. By students being part of an active role in the community,
they are capable of becoming responsible leaders, learning new things, and helping
those in need in their community. Volunteering is beneficial to students because it
helps them become more mature and it helps them get ready for the real world.
Students need to help the communitywhether it is forced or not.
The young minds of high school students are not always thinking about those around
them, they are more focused on friends, school work, and sports. While this is not
necessarily bad, they often forget what is right in front of them. When high school
students are forced to volunteer, they get a clear perspective on what is really
happening around them. They get an eye opening view of unemployment , hunger,
and poverty. By students volunteering , they get to help those in need and realize
what the real world is like. They complete activities that morph them into a strong,
responsible, independent leader. By helping feed the homeless or participating for a
marathon to fight cancer, they are given the opportunity to grow and let their minds

9. The United States And The Soviet Union
When people refer to the space race, they often think about the development of the
negative connotation between the relations of the United States and the Soviet
Union. For three years, the United States has not had a single space mission from
their own funds, however, only fifty years ago, the space race had been largely
emphasized and referred to as a start of a new era . It was a time period where there
was an urge to achieve supremacy in the heavens, and the land. It was a seventeen
year period, which lasted from 1955 1972, where the two cold warrivals spawned
satellites, receptors, and space probes for the sole purpose to achieving new heights.

Another such harsh statement made by the Russians was that the U.S slept under the
Soviet moon and that they could throw a hydrogen bomb at will. The United States

needed to take control and get matters at hand for the sake of the world, leading to
the space race.
The United States used drawings of the space race and its technology to its
advantage illustrating the unfair treatment of citizens and the urgency of being first

in the space race were around the early 1950s and illustrated by Herbert Block, who
was an American editorial cartoonist who focused his issue on foreign policies. One
of his drawings can be seen in in Appendix A. The depiction shows a politician

10. Guests of the Nation, a Review of Conflicts Essay
Guests of the Nation, a short story by Frank O Connor takes place in 1921 during
Ireland s fight for independence from British rule. Set in a small cottage in the
countryside of Ireland, the story tells of two Englishmen who are prisoners and are
being watched over by three Irishmen. The story tells of the relationship that develops
between the captives and their captors and explores the conflictthat arises when the
soldiers are called to duty.
The story consisted of seven main characters, each adding depth to the story and
contributing to the development of the plot. Two of the seven characters where the

Noble and Bonaparte were the young soldiers who were guarding the Englishmen.
Both befriended the Englishmen as they played cards with each other and even
argued about politics and religion. Jeremiah Donavan, on the other hand, did not
have such a rapport with the prisoners. Though he supervised the card games and
even yelled at the Englishman Hawkins as if he were one if his own soldiers, he kept
his distance and was thus not as close as Noble and Bonaparte were.
The plot of the story unfolded as Jeremiah Donavan revealed that the prisoners were
actually hostages and that there was a possibility that they would have to execute the
Englishmen. As the story continued to unfold, the possibility became reality when
Feeney the intelligence officer revealed that the prisoners were ordered to be
executed. It is in this pivotal moment that the conflict of the story arises and that the
soldiers are faced with a conflict that in turn, proves to be deeply complex in that it is
both internal and external.
While externally the soldiers had to deal with the act of actually shooting the
prisoners (more simply killing a man), internally Bonaparte and Noble dealt with
the internal conflict of having to kill a friend. As Hawkins pleaded the case of friends
shooting friends, we were forced as readers to also question the call of duty to a
cause versus the call of

high because the barriers to start up a store are low. According to IBISWorld, the
retail industry is forecasted to be relatively stable and growth by 2.1% per annum
for the next five years. Since the industry profits has increased, we would expect
additional firms to enter the industry to take advantage of the high levels of profits,
and over time driving down the profits for all firms in the industry. The high set up
cost such as lease contracts, increase in property prices and wages cost shall act as an
obstacle for new firms to entry the industry. In addition to that, SUL has the higher
advantage for being the first mover in the industry thus establishing its brand identity
and has many accesses to distribution channels.
Force 3: Threat of substitute products Since SUL has been in the industry for almost
40 years, it is a well established brand name amongst their suppliers and consumers.
In addition to that, SUL comprises of several businesses together with a large equity
base thus having the ability to allow the business to apply the cost leadership strategy.
The advantage of having a relatively lower pricing compared to other substitute
products may decrease the risks of buyers switching brand names.
Force 4: Bargaining power of buyers
In SUL s case, the buyers powers are weak and fragmented where no buyer is
particularly capable to influence the product or the pricing of

to quench that thirst of regret. I hanged out with a group of girls that weren t

nothing but trouble and my grades were really bad I mean I had 50 s in most of my

13. Rhetorical Of Dog Food
For this essay I chose to investigate rhetorical means of dog food advertisements.
During this investigation I will point out what it is exactly that advertisers are
using in order to sell their product. I chose a Blue Bufflo ad, a Pedigree ad, a vintage
Ken L Ration ad, and another shorter Pedigree ad. The first ad by Blue Buffalo
shows a dogand a cat as well as a chart and a small paragraph about the product. The
color is a calming blue and actually almost gives somewhat of a medical appealto the
ad. This not only looks like a dog food ad but also has similarities to an
advertisement promoting a medication. Their heading to the ad is Love them like

The color gives a fun an youthful appeal. The heading is a supposed quote from
the pup stating, I enjoy licking faces. And toilets Koji. This ad also has a slightly
medical appeal as it has the medical cross right at the top of the advertisement. This
ad appeals to logos in the fact that it is promoting a product that boosts the
immunity of your pet because dogs will put their mouths on anything and every
dog has his can so this ad is saying that in order to protect your dog, pick this
product, and that you can pin point which food to buy based on the buyer s dog s
specific needs. This ad also appeals to pathos as it mentions that this food is going
to not only be tasty for your dog but also have the healthy ingredients needed in
order to protect them, letting the buys know they are making the right choice fro
their animal by buying this product. The vintage Ken L Ration ad is a simple black
and white ad with a drawn, what seemed to be, fox terrier in the corner. The
headline is He Loves it! showing a positive and fun spect to the ad and eating the
readers attention. This ad does a very good job appealing to pathos and logos in a
short and sweet statement pointing out that your dog will not only enjoy the product,
but it will also keep him health and strong, and that it also comes canned making it
easy and convenient to serve. This is similar to the Pedigree ad, although much
shorter, and slightly less exciting as it lacks

A wide range of interventions aim to ensure healthy and successful pregnancies.

chronic illness such as diabetes or obesity. Preconception health aims to improve

15. Character Makes Fate
Introduction
Macbeth is the last of the four tragedies written by Shakespeare. Shakespeare depicts
how Macbeth, who was once a powerful hero, sinks into a tyrant bringing calamity to
the country and people. That reflected his individual ambition and lust for power,
which destroyed human nature and showed us the essence of anti humanity caused
by the extreme individualism. There exists inner certainty in Macbeth s tragedy, which
is the ambitious desire, the sense of guilty for vicious circle and unfounded
persistence and confidence. Macbeth s tragedy was not only the tragedy of
disposition, but also that of the society.
This paper structurally consists of six parts: a brief introduction to the play; a tragic
character; Macbeth s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2.3 Tragic community
It s a tragedy community, which is full of enticement, authority and the
deconstruction of human nature. After Macbeth has killed London, he says that:
Blood hath been shed ere now, I the olden time, ere human statute purged the gentle
weal; Ay, and since too, murders have been perform d. Too terrible for the ear: the
times have been, that, when the brains were out, the man would die, And there an
end; but now they rise again, With twenty mortal murders on their crowns, And push
us from our stools: this is more strange Than such a murder is. (Act 1, Scene 5)
The current event accomplishes the hero. In Macbeth s society, he cannot revolt
against the reality, which leads to his fate.
3. Macbeth s individuality
Macbeth is a unique person. His individuality is real and living. He used to be a
brave hero filling with determination. However, there are lots of minds to go beyond
his bounds.
3.1 Three qualities most defining Macbeth
If three qualities most define Shakespeare s Macbeth, they arguably are ambition,
greed, and the supernatural.
3.1.1 Ambition
Ambition is often the driving force in one s life. It is supposed to be the motivating
factor that drives one towards success. It can be said that
16. Comparing Gunning And Einstein Montage Of Attractions
In Gunning s theory, the term attractions comes from the young Sergei Mikhailovich
Eisenstein and his attempt to find a new model and mode of analysis for the theater
(Eisenstein, 1970).
In Gerould s (Gerould, 1974) Einstein Montage of Attractions he states:
An attraction aggressively subjected the spectator to sensual or psychological impact.
According to Eisenstein, theater should consist of a montage of such attractions,
creating a relation to the spectator entirely different from his absorption in illusory
imitativeness.
When advertising a film it is important for the producers to create an image that
makes the audience want to watch their film, therefore, I agree with Gunning and his
relation to Eisenstein with the term attraction . Advertising is based around the fact
that the spectator is aggressively subjected to sensual or psychological impact ,
especially when watching a trailer as those couple of minutes must create enough
excitement that it draws the audience in.
I think you can decipher a film by the tag line that the marketers have chosen. This
tag line is then used to advertise the film on posters and trailers in order to attract
the audience. When looking at Avatar s tag line Enter The World , it is easy to
understand why people were attracted to the idea of entering a new world and
being a part of something innovative. When I first saw this poster (Fig. 1) I was
drawn in by the use of bright colours and that I was unaware of what this new world,
17. The Parasite And Its Effects On The Human Body
5. a. Dracunculus medinensis, or the Guinea worm, has plagued humanity for
thousands of years. This parasite enters the human body initially as larvae from
drinking water. As the worms grow older, they begin to approach the skin of the
individual. The worm causes blisters on the skin that burst and cause massive pain.
In order to extinguish the pain, victims jump into water; however, the water
provides a better situation for the worm to reproduce, so the parasite releases
larvae. In other words, the parasite manipulates a host to behave a certain way. The
easiest way to combat the parasite is to avoid soothing the pain in the water, since
the parasite will fail to deploy the larvae. b. Hymenoepimecis argyraphaga, a wasp,
has a parasitic relationship with a spider, Plesiometa argyra. The wasp injects
poison into the spider, paralysing it; afterwards, the wasp places an egg on top of
the spider s abdomen. The egg quickly hatches and the resulting larva sucks the
blood of the spider. Eventually, it manipulates the spider through the use of
chemicals, making the spider move back and forth while weaving a web
specifically designed to act as a cocoon for the larva. When the web is complete,
the larva sucks all of the spider s blood and drops the remains to the jungle floor.
Scientists, however, have yet to pinpoint the actual method the larva uses to
manipulate the host. The biochemical it uses is extremely potent, as it has been
tested to last a few days. c.
18. Racism At The University Of Mississippi
Imagine being a student of low economic status that has always dreamed of going
to a world renowned university but the stench of racism still looms at the well
known college. The racism displayed at this university is undeniable and very
visible which in result scares away many diverse students. Colleges claim to be
diverse but with the lack of minorities due to the recognizable racismissues and
problems this proposes an important matter. Racism at The Universityof Mississippi
can be solved by raising awareness of racial problems and also the increase of
mandatory diversity classes. The University of Mississippi has its share of racial
issues, which result in bad media coverage and lessening the number of diverse
students even more. The University of Mississippi has recently had an incident
involving race which ended with a protestand the voluntary withdrawal of a student.
The use of the peaceful protest made the University become aware of the severity of
the racial comment. The use of protests are to demand that colleges be aware and to
demand punishment for the racial crime committed. Peaceful Protest usage seem to
result in positive outcomes such as within the situation at the University of Missouri.
This situation involved racial inequality and the lack of action from university
authorities (Rhoden). The unfair treatment of a minority and lack of punishment for

19. Window Treatments Essay
The window treatment business is a multi million dollar industry that dates back to
the 17th century around the time of the Industrial Revolution. Even during economic
down times consumers frequently replaced window treatments rather than redoing an
entire room. There are over 3500 establishments that sell window coverings. Window
treatments can be very important purchase considering all the benefits they have to

Ready made window treatments are mass produced, prefabricated treatments that
can be easily found at most major retailers, discount stores, and a large number of
catalog and online stores. This makes them easily accessible and convenient
allowing them to be brought home and hung the same day for instant gratification.
Custom made treatments are a little more involved than driving to a store and
taking the window treatments home. The homeowner will have to decide if they
are going to hire a professional designer or recruit the help from an associate at a
retail store that specialize in custom made treatments. The whole process can take
months with more decisions to be made and time to make them. Another thing a
homeowner will have to consider is the size and shape of a window. Ready made
draperies will be available in a limited number of lengths the most common being
eighty four and ninety six inches long which would mean that these would not
work well for taller windows where the draperies would not be long enough to
touch the floor. Most ready made panels are offered in only one width which is
usually only sufficient to close over a thirty six inch wide window or smaller or
would be fine if they were meant to be stationary. If a wider width is desired, multiple
panels that are not sewn together would have to be purchased. When pursing the
custom avenue one would find out that custom window
20. George Patton Character Traits
General George S. Patton liked fame and winning, the advance towards Palermo,
Sicily, was a race that Patton won for the U.S (Murray 63). Patton was born on
November 11, 1885 in San Gabriel, California. Patton always wanted to be a
soldier, so in 1905 he enrolled into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and
graduated in 1909. And in 1910 he married Beatrice Ayer who had been a
childhood friend. As a strict general in World War II George Patton s personality
made him a better leader, respected by his soldiers, and honored to this day for his
war tactics. Patton had reputations for being a tough general and an enthusiast about
warfare. In 1943 at an army field hospital, a soldier didn t look wounded but was
crying; Patton came over to him and called him a coward. (George S. Patton) One of
Patton s famous quotes is: We shall attack and attack until we are exhausted, and
then we shall attack again. He had a big temper, cursed and as a result of that was
a skull injury in his 20s. He was an accident prone young man. (Grimm 2) In 1917
he was assigned to Tank Corps. Patton was an enthusiastic supporter of tank warfare.

22. How Did The Vietnam War Influence The French Indochina
War
Derek Schmidt
College English
Opinion Based Research Essay
The French Indochina War Starting in late 1946, a rebellion began in French
Indochina. The French colony, only recently liberated from Japanese occupation, was
eager to assert its independence from France. However, the French, wishing to retain
their colonial empire, had no wish to let this happen. Backed by the United States
who was afraid of the spread of communism in the area, France fought a brutal war to
maintain its position of power over Indochina. Ultimately, just like the VietnamWar
that succeeded it, the French Indochina War was a waste of time, money, and
manpower.
French Indochina was a colony of France consisting of the modern day countries of
Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. The colony was created after the French occupied
several important cities and the Vietnamese were forced to sign treaties
acknowledging the authority of the French over Vietnam. After gradually establishing
suzerainty over Indochina between 1858 and 1893, the French created the first
Indochinese Union to govern it (Indochina). French influence was strongest in the
urban centers, while it had little impact on the far more populous rural areas. French
Indochina came under the occupation of the Japanese during World War II, and the
Japanese collaborated closely with the French colonial administrators and BбєЈo
ДђбєЎi, the Emperor of Vietnam and a French puppet ruler. Once the war ended and
Japan surrendered, French troops reoccupied
23. Johann Sebastian Bach
Analysis of Concerto in F Minor for Harpsichord and Strings Movement 3: Presto
Johann Sebastian Bach s third movement, Presto, of the Concerto in F Minor for
harpsichord and strings provides ample expertly crafted material for analysis. This
movement is in a binary form in which an opening ritornello alternates episodes of
solo material. The ritornello, full of easily recognizable material provided by both the
orchestra and solo harpsichord, provides a stable back drop in between each solo
section where the solo part creates drama and excitement. Many of these themes
come back in strategic spots in order to heighten the drama of the movement. J.S.
Bach uses many of techniques characteristic of the Baroque period, including
imitation, vordersatz, fortspinnung, and epilogue, to help increase the drama and
tension of the piece in order to affect the listener s emotions. In this essay, I will be
analyzing the form, compositional techniques, and historical context of the Presto
movement of J.S. Bach s Concerto in F Minor for harpsichord and strings. In
analyzing the form of this movement, one can see three distinct themes in the
opening ritornello, which are then brought back in various episodes of solo material,
in abbreviated versions of the ritornello. These three themes all return in the final
ritornello to help create a sense of closure to the piece. In the opening ritornello, we
see an example of vodersatz, where the opening theme, theme A, is stated for the first
time.
24. Powerlessness In Dracula
Humans adore all aspects of control, and the most crucial aspect that anyone person
can control is their own life. Many believe how hard someone works will determine
what outcome they will achieve. Humans have a drive to control their lives in hopes
to obtain what they desire and deserve. In Bram Stoker s Dracula, the fear of being
powerless in a situation is shown repeatedly to reinforce the notion that not all can be
controlled. There is an ongoing power struggle between the characters and never a
truly clear winner.
Dracula possesses the majority of power throughout the book. His supernatural
abilities grants him with an upper advantage over a mortal human. He can control the
atmosphere, shapeshift, and live for centuries. This alone provokes

27. The Controversy Of The Burqa Ban
Religion is a part of life for millions of people around the world and can often
define a person and their way of living. While some countries solely recognise a
religion through cohesion of religion and state, other countries are secular, having a
definite separation between church and state affairs. It is often the lack of
separation between these two ideologies, which causes conflict amongst people,
groups and sometimes countries, clearly showing defects in the relationships of
various factions of society. April 2011 saw a controversial law come into effect,
known as the Burqa Ban , which prohibits the wearing of the full face burqa in
public places. In the present day and specific to Islamin France, religionand the state
are in conflict with one another on the issue of wearing religious symbols in public.

Since the French Revolution of 1789, religion and the state of France have gone
trough a transition of separation from influencing and working with one another, to
becoming completely secular. In the present 21st Century, France deviated from their
secular nature by instituting a law that directly affects some adherents of Islam,
which is causing difficulty, particularly for those looking to live lives of freedom
and equality in France. Pre French Revolution, Catholicism was the recognised state
religion of France, however, over time suspicion and criticism grew clouding religion
and diminishing its power amongst the state, until it was formally separated on 21st

was impeached. For those who don t know, impeachment means to bring a
government official to trial over accusations of illegal or shameful activity. President
William Jefferson Clinton, more commonly known as Bill Clinton, took office in
1992 as a leader who had promised to bring a more honest and better government to
the American people. This Democratic politician would have his two terms in office

As President Clinton s second term came to an end his time in office would be seen

Players in an offensive mode, with the ball, can use tactics and forms of physics
which can bring the defence off there feet, to enable an easy path to the basket. This
scenario is called breaking the defenders ankles. Breaking the defenders ankles is a
term which relates to the defender being subjected to a large sum of momentum
causing an instability in their ankles, consequently giving way. A players momentum
can be calc8lated through the use of their mass and final velocity as followed; p=mv,
p being the magnitude of the players momentum, m being the players mass, and v
being the velocity at which the object or player is travelling. Due to the velocity and
momentum being vector, the direction of each determine the final outcome. As the
offensive player travels in a particular direction at a velocity, the defender would
naturally defend by moving and following in front, guarding the offensive player. As
the offensive player has a mass and a directional velocity, the offensive player can
switch direction abruptly, causing the defenders momentum to continue in there
initial same direction. The basic forms of physcis, such as momentum, can
significantly determine an succesful or unsuccefeul defencive or offencive play.
Therefore minimizining the risk of the metioned senarios, ankle bracing can be worn
to increase the stubility of the defender in

33. The Passionate Shepherd Of His Love By Christopher
Marlowe
Since the beginning of humankind, people have sought partners to share their lives
with.
Adam himself being lonely and destitute was paired with Eve to share in all life s
joys and tribulations. Many would agree that life is best spent in the company of
another and without companionship, our existence would be dull and wearisome.
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love by Christopher Marlowe is a pastoral poem
published in 1599 where a man attempts to find companionship because he is lonely.
Marlowe creates a majestic rural world encompassed by natural beauty in which the
Shepherd attempts to court a presumably young woman. The Nymph s reply to the
Shepherd by Sir Walter Raleighwas written in response to The Passionate Shepherd
to His Love in 1600, one year after its publication. This Story takes place in the
same area as the previous poem but is now narrated by the Shepherds love interest
rather than the Shepherd himself. With both poems having different speakers insight
is gained into the thought process of both the Nymph and the Sheppard. Using this
information it can be ascertained that the Nymph and the Shappard are incompatible
because they have different viewpoints on love and its obtainment. The Shepherd
does not offer acceptable terms to the Nymph, his principles are inconsistent with
her own, and he is a romantic while she is a realist. One desires the life of those in
the garden of Eden while the other denies its existence. Marlow opens The

these totem poles represent a very special and important parts of an aboriginal person.
In general, however, poles are skilfully carved of wood not stone, and are usually

In order to leave a memorable past, you have to learn how to stand tall for what you
believe in. Anyone who can be easily persuaded is not someone who cares to be

the rest of the crowd. In the Trial and Death of Socrates, Socrateswas brought up on
false chargers and was still able to hold his stance. For Socrates he thought he
would think logically instead of like the others. However, at that point it was
frowned upon to think a different way. Socrates tries to use his own ideology and
make others see from his point of view. When he is put on trial, he uses good
arguments to defend himself. For example, when Meletus says that majority
improve the young while the minority corrupt it, but Socrates brings up a great
point with horses and other animals. While with animals the minority improve and
the majority corrupt. (25B) During Socrates trial, a lot of details cluing into a

what he believes in. One example, is him trying to focus the attention away from

37. The Influence Of The Victorian Era
How long did the Victorian Era last? Queen Victoria of England ruled the throne
for over 64 years, however her impact made the Victorian era last for a 150 year.
The Victorian era was most known for its censorship and proper allegations. For
example, men were supposed to be hard workers and protectors of the house and
family. Subsequently, women were suited to a role that limited their abilities as a
citizen as compared to today, which included household chores and such. Lastly,
children were to be quite and did not spend much time with their mothers and fathers.
Due to society s own harsh expectations of themselves, it impacted other aspects of
their lives. This impacted literature and is a major time when authors had to use more
profound and deeper meaning to events in stories to get inappropriate points across
that would otherwise be censored. With this, the ideas in literature reflect ideas that
are found during the Victorian erabecause of its characters reactions and events that
were censored. The novel Dracula, by Bram Stoker, uses the Victorian era s ideology
to influence the story and its characters to convey the Victorian s beliefs in their
society. Firstly, Draculauses sexual inferences as a way to reflect Victorian beliefs
that would be seen as villainous or crude because of their ideas. Undoubtedly,
Dracula has inferred sexual messages to the reader for moods towards the characters.

specific message that God desires to communicate to the original audience. Although
various opinions may exist regarding what this message may be the clearest
message that appears to be displayed is that God has various ordinances and rules
regarding the worship, day to day life, and travel of the Israelite nation which set
them apart from the nations around them and must be strictly followed and adhered
to. Chapter two of Numbers gives an account of the organization of the camp of the
Israelitesafter they had been numbered by tribe. Each tribe had a specific leader, a
specific head of each group of three thirds, and a specific location in which they
were supposed to camp relative to the tabernacle. The purpose for all of this was
set out by God in order to protect the ark and the tabernacle along with encampment
as a whole from the presence of God and invaders who sought to raid the
encampment. Chapters three and four along with seven, eight, nine, and ten all have
to do very specifically with the roles of the Levities and tabernacle worship and the
very strict guidelines that applied to both of these. The Kohathite clan of the Levities
which was to transport the sacred articles of the tabernacle was not permitted to ever
see the articles that they were carrying lest God strict them dead. In addition, in the
39. Charles Darwin s Influence On The Origin Of Life
Have you ever wondered where you come from? Did God put humans on Earth?
Will we ever understand the origin of life? Not yet, but Charles Darwin has helped
us take a step closer. From his inference of life, we understand how each living
organism came to be, through the long and meticulous process of evolution.
Darwin s theory of evolution is that all life we see has been changed over thousands
of years to create the forms we see today. There are many influences on the evolution
of an individual organism which Darwin attempted to contain in his theory of natural
selection. Simply, natural selection is the process which life goes through to evolve.

life. Life is one of the greatest mysteries in this world. Darwin shed some light on the
origin, but he could not illuminate all of the darkness. He became a revolutionary
man as he helped humanity take a large step further by making part of the unknown
known.
My favorite takeaways from investigating Darwin s life are the value of humility, to
compile evidence to fortify claims, to question authority and, lastly, to never give up.
Darwin learned the value and importance of humility. As a scientist, Darwin
understood how little of the world we knew. He had an open mind to all possibilities,
but he used rational evidence to support claims.
Darwin saw something world changing on the Beagle, but he didn t publicize his ill
supported assessment until twenty years later. In that time, he conducted
experiments, talked to breeders, and read a mountain of studies. The degree to which
he went to collect evidence is remarkable and truly inspiring. His patience and
passion are
40. Nato Entry Into The European Union
Croatia is one of the most likely candidates for entry into the European Union
within the next few years and as a result it is also one of the more exciting of
Europe s emerging economies in terms of potential property price growth because
with pre EU entry comes serious foreign direct investment and political and
economic stability, and post EU entry comes greater worldwide confidence in a
country and a nation s ability to trade more directly and favourably with the rest of
the European Union.
When you add to this positive news the fact that Croatia has 5,835 kilometres of
coastline (1,777 km on the mainland with 4,058 km wrapped around its numerous
pretty islands) and a Mediterranean climate you have immeasurable tourism potential

Another advantage that the ease of availability of mortgages has is that it means the
local population has more access to property based finance and the local market in
Croatia also demands property stock...this is good news for an investor. Why?
Because tourism potential is good, but having a local market willing and able to take
real estate stock off an investor s hands in the future is even better news. Targeting
this increasingly affluent nation an investor has a chance of generating sustainable
and consistent returns from a commitment to Croatia for the medium term at least.
Another reason why property in Croatia will be big business in 2007 and beyond
is because of an increase in the number of international businesses choosing
locations such as Dubrovnik and Zagreb in Croatia as centres for near shoring
back office operations for example. Croatians are hard working, intelligent people
who will currently work for lower rates of pay that their counterparts in the EU 15
for example and some companies are establishing operations in Croatia to tap into
this labour force and are demanding commercial premises as well as pushing up local
demand for residential stock.
Levels of foreign direct investment as well as the number of international companies
setting up regional hubs in Croatia also represents a positive factor for investors to
bear in mind. FDI and more

External and Internal Conflict in The Minister s Black Veil
Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story The Minister s Black Veil manifests a duality of
conflict both an external conflict and an internal conflict. It is the purpose of this
essay to explore both types of conflict as manifested in the story.
In the opinion of this reader, the central conflicts the relation between the protagonist
and antagonist (Abrams 225) in the tale are an internal one, a spiritual moral conflict
within the minister, the Reverend Mr. Hooper, and an external one with the world at
large represented by the congregation. Wilson Sullivan in Nathaniel Hawthorne tells
where the author got the idea of a conflict between good and ... Show more content on

. . . more than one woman of delicate nerves was forced to leave the
meeting house.
At this point begins the external conflict of the drama between the minister and the
people of his congregation, which will last until his death. Except for the sable veil,
Reverend Hooper is quite a compatible and sociable personality:
Mr. Hooper had the reputation of a good preacher, but not an energetic one: he strove
to win his people heavenward by mild, persuasive influences, rather than to drive
them thither by the thunders of the Word. The sermon which he now
delivered was marked by the same characteristics of style and manner as the general
series of his pulpit oratory.
However, on this first day of wearing his black veil there is some peculiar difference
in Hooper s sermon:
But there was something, either in the sentiment of the discourse itself, or in the
imagination of the auditors, which made it greatly the most powerful effort that they
had ever heard from their pastor s lips. It was tinged, rather more darkly than usual,
with the gentle gloom of Mr. Hooper s temperament. The subject had reference to
secret sin. . . .
The psychological impact of the veil is that each parishioner feels that the preacher
had crept upon them, behind his awful veil, and discovered their hoarded iniquity of
deed or thought ; and with
