Essays On Genetic Engineering
1. Essays On Genetic Engineering
Crafting an essay on the subject of genetic engineering is undeniably a challenging endeavor.
The complexity of the topic lies not only in its scientific intricacies but also in the ethical, social,
and philosophical dimensions it encompasses. Addressing the technical aspects requires a solid
understanding of genetics, molecular biology, and related disciplines. Moreover, staying abreast
of the latest advancements and breakthroughs in genetic engineering is crucial to providing up-
to-date and relevant information.
Beyond the scientific realm, delving into the ethical considerations surrounding genetic
engineering adds another layer of complexity. Tackling questions about the morality of
manipulating genetic material, the potential for unintended consequences, and the implications
for future generations requires thoughtful analysis and a nuanced perspective.
Additionally, the process of composing an essay on genetic engineering involves navigating
through a plethora of diverse opinions and viewpoints. It demands the ability to critically
evaluate conflicting arguments, weigh evidence, and present a well-balanced and informed
stance. As the field of genetic engineering is continuously evolving, the essay writer must be
diligent in researching and incorporating the latest studies and perspectives.
The challenge extends to maintaining clarity and coherence in the presentation of ideas.
Balancing technical jargon with accessibility for a general audience poses a constant dilemma.
Achieving a harmonious blend of scientific accuracy and readability is an art that necessitates
careful consideration of language and tone.
In conclusion, writing an essay on genetic engineering is a formidable task that requires a
multidimensional approach. From mastering the scientific intricacies to navigating the ethical
maze, the essayist must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in various disciplines. It's an
intellectual journey that demands dedication, research prowess, critical thinking, and effective
communication skills. However, for those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that similar essays

2. Pros And Cons Of The Transcontinental Railroad
The building of the Transcontinental Railroad changed everything. It was started in
1860 and finished on May 10, 1869. The Transcontinental Railroad was a railroad that
linked the eastern and western United States. There were many benefits that came
with the Transcontinental Railroad, but where there are pros, there are also cons. The
Transcontinental Railroad affected everyone from the Indians, to the Chinese, to the
environment. The Transcontinental Railroad affected the Indians mostly, in my
opinion. Americans needed the Indians land to build the railroad. That way the
railroad would cut straight through everything and be faster instead of being longer
than necessary and taking more time to build. The Indians were forced off
3. Formative Reflective Assessment
1.What does formative assessment involve in practice and what are the implications
for teachers?
Strategies to implement formative assessment
Role of teacher / Impact on planning
Actively involving students and parents
Possible challenges or barriers of assessment use
Focus questions: Teachers are responsible for creating a set of questions in a
specific order which is used as a tool for evaluating understanding checklist. The
teacher initiates the questions with simple concepts and steadily move towards a
complex level, whereas students give answers when asked individually by the
teacher or as a class where visual cue indicates their answer. After this activity
students are assessed based on the answer given against the questions.
A teacher must plan the order of questions in which they ll be asked as well as
nature of the content. It is observed that most of the teachers use constructive
approach i e starting from simple questions or concepts to more abstract questions.
The primary role of a teacher is to analyse the understanding level of a student. This
is usually carried out by students response and later examine it with follow up
questions.
Students can actively participate in it through the teacher s technique of
manipulating the answering methodology. For example, students are offered
multiple choices of answers and then asked to give a signal or move based on his
selected answer. By doing this activity whole class can be assessed and later can be
grouped based
4. Importance Of Experiential Learning
Experiential learning is a process through which students practice skills, obtain
knowledge, and derive values from real life situations. There are different methods of
this type of learning including: field trips, internships, field research, and service
learning projects. These assignments and activities give students the opportunity to
experience reflective, data driven, and problem solving scenarios. According to
David Kolb s theory on experiential learning, Learningis the process whereby
knowledge is created through the transformation of experience (Kolb, 1984, p.38).
His theory includes experience, perception, cognition, and behavior. This type of
learning is important for business students, university programs, and students to
participate in.
There are several reasons that business students should learn experientially. This
method accelerates learning by using critical thinking, problem solving, and decision
making skills. Also, students are more engaged because the focus is on collaboration
with other students. When the student is learning by doing, the student gets a first
hand experience of what has been taught in the classroom. There are different
strategies and methods to improve classes so students can be taught in this way.
Including: group projects, brainstorming, getting involved in the classroom, sharing
ideas, and being open to new learning opportunities. In this way, it is different from
traditional learning methods and takes the learning
5. Meeting Of Linden Knoll Condominium Units Owners
Bob,
Your March 5 dated Notice of Meeting of Linden Knoll Condominium Units
Owners had as it stated purpose a single agenda item: Budget vote to ratify or reject
the Operating Budget Fiscal Year June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017 .
Subsequently, on Friday, March 11, 2016 another Notice of Homeowner Budget
Meeting was posted on the townhouse bulletin board, listing a different agenda to
include: HVAC upgrades phase 3 (buildings 3 and 4), Elevator upgrades engineer
VTX, Townhouse Roof proposal update, Ongoing Assessment, Budget 2016 2017
Operating budget ratification of budget adopted by Council on 2/15/2016
The meeting was called to order and a Roll Call of Council Members taken,
presumably to determine the presence of a quorum of Council. What was the
purpose for the Roll Call if this was a unit owners meeting? The meeting then
proceeded with discussions of the HVAC phase 3 upgrade cost ($94,880) and the
elevator engineer phase 1 and 2 costs, $4,662 and $8,609 respectively. With respect to
each separate item motions were made, seconded and passed by Council to authorize
these expenditures. At no time was input on these motions sought from homeowners.
Next, some comments were made about the townhouse roofs but no action was taken.
Recollection is that the agenda topic Ongoing Assessment was not addressed or
reported. Finally, a presentation of a proposed budget , approval of which cannot be
documented in posted Council meeting minutes, was offered and
6. Hospitality In The Odyssey
Since you were a toddler, you ve probably heard the saying, Treat others how you
want to be treated. This idea, although taken much more seriously, was heavily
embedded in the culture of the Greek and thus has had an appearance throughout the
book The Odyssey. The Odyssey was originally written by Homer, an ancient Greek,
and has been translated by many different people. The story describes the struggle of
Odysseustrying to return home after participating in the Trojan War. This tedious
journey lasted years, meanwhile, Odysseus son, Telemahkos, and wife, Penelope,
hold off suitors who are trying to woe Penelope into marriage. Since the story takes
place in ancient Greek, the idea of hospitality constantly appears throughout The
Odyssey, as it was believed that by treating all strangers you meet with kindness to
avoid the chance of mistreating a God in disguise. Because of this constant
appearance in the story, the idea that you should be hospitable, or kind, to others you
meet is the most important theme conveyed in The Odyssey. The main reason why
Greeks were very hospitable to strangers was because Greek gods often visited
people in human form to test them, and so Greeks treated strangers with the idea that
they may be gods. This is exactly what happened when Athena, the Greek god of
wisdom and military victory, visited Ithaca to talk to Telemahkos, disguised as a man
named Mentes. As soon as Telemahkos meets Athena, he invites her to his feast.
Greetings, stranger!
7. Depression
.
The Great Depression was a period of unprecedented decline in economic activity. It
is generally agreed to have occurred between 1929 and 1939. Although parts of the
economy had begun to recover by 1936, high unemployment persisted until the
Second World War.
Background To Great Depression: * The 1920s witnessed an economic boom in the
US (typified by Ford Motor cars, which made a car within the grasp of ordinary
workers for the first time). Industrial output expanded very rapidly. * Sales were
often promoted through buying on credit. However, by early 1929, the steam had
gone out of the economy and output was beginning to fall. * The stock market had
boomed to record levels. Price to earning ratios were above ... Show more content on

Global Downturn.
America had lent substantial amounts to Europe and UK, to help rebuild after first
world war. Therefore, there was a strong link between the US economy and the rest
of the world. The US downturn soon spread to the rest of the world as America
called in loans, Europe couldn t afford to pay back. This global recession was
exacerbated by imposing new tariffs such as Smoot Hawley which restricted trade
further.
Different Views of the Great Depression
Monetarists View
Monetarists highlight the importance of a fall in the money supply. They point out
that between 1929 and 1932, the Federal reserve allowed the money supply
(Measured by M2) to fall by a third. In particular, Monetarists such as Friedman
criticise the decisions of the Fed not to save banks going bankrupt. They say that
because the money supply fell so much an ordinary recession turned into a major
deflationary depression.
Austrian View
Austrian school of Economists such as Hayek and Ludwig Von Mises place much of
the blame on an unsustainable credit boom in the 1920s. In particular, they point to
the decision to inflate the US economy to try and help the UK remain on the Gold
standard at a rate which was too high. They argue after this unsustainable credit boom
a recession became inevitable. The Austrian school doesn t accept the Friedman
analysis that falling money supply was the main problem. They argue it was the loss
of confidence in the banking
8. The Theory Of Sexuality By Sigmund Freud
Few topics evoke so much intrigue and bewilderment, discussion and silence as the
concept of sexuality. It has simultaneously been the focus of scientific
experimentation and theoretical debate since the emergence of the modern world.
Traditional views designate sexuality as purposeful, which is to say that our sexual
instinct compels us toward reproduction and the preservation of life. This parallels
human sexualityto that of animals, an instinct that is genetically programmed into us
for the purpose of copulation. This is made to seem analogous to the instinct of
hunger or thirst and taking nourishment (15). In his book, Three Essays on the
Theory of Sexuality, Sigmund Freudchallenges these conventional views of the
subject. While there are translational inconsistencies with his use of the word instinct,
the term drive actually substantiates his theory. He argues that sexuality begins in
childhood and can develop into a continuum of expressions that are shaped by
experiences at the level of the body, and to a lesser extent, experiences in society.
These impulses of the libidodrive all psychological activity. In this paper I will
show that, according to Freud, sexuality is embedded in our bodily being without
being instinctual because it can take many forms, it can be controlled or repressed
and contains mental dispositions. Much of who we are is shaped from experiences
that begin soon after birth and Freud argues that sexuality is no exception. The
exploration of
9. Research Employment Laws Is A Tough One
Picking out just one country to research employment laws was a tough one. I have
been very fortunate that during my childhood (I was a military brat, and lived
everywhere) and even the last 16 years of my adult life (from being in the military
myself, and being married to a service member) I have been to many countries
around the world. I have enjoyed my time everywhere I have been, as I am one
that always makes the best of the new situation. I probably would be a great
expatriate for a company, since I am one that loves to indulge myself in the local
culture and just learn as much as I can when I am there. I decided on Germany, as that
is one country I have spent the most time in, and one of my best friends (that is born
and raised there) is from there. I have always enjoyed the history and culture of that
country as well.
Hours Worked/Minimum Working Age When I lived in Germany I always
thought it was frustrating that everything was closed on Sundays; as Sundays are
my days for grocery shopping, errands and getting things ready for the following
week. I had to learn to re do my routines to accommodate this; but fortunately, being
in Germany as military personnel, I was able to go on post (or base) to get
necessary shopping done as well since American posts/bases were run by American
law. Germany has a law in place that dictates the amount of hours per day/week/year
that a person can work and this law is the Working TimeAct (WTA). According to
Jung (2001), the
10. What Is Effective Altruism As A Philosophy And Social...
Peter Singer, author of The Most Good You Can Do, defines effective altruism as a
philosophy and social movement which applies evidence and reason to working
out the most effective ways to improve the world (Singer, 2015, p. 4 5). Given this
definition, who are effective altruists? They are individuals who wish to make
positive contributions to society by considering their course of action in an
objective manner. To make this clearer, Singer contrasts effective altruists from
warm glow givers (Singer, 2015, p. 5). Warm glow givers donate to charities to feel
good without truly understanding how their donations are utilized to help people.
Hence, these givers will offer their donations not to the most pressing causes, but to
causes that appeal to their heart. On the other hand, effective altruists do not
immediately act based on their emotions. Instead, they take a moment to step back
and critically analyze if a certain action will help as much people as they hope it
will. In short, they want to target the most urgent issues by maximizing whatever
resources they have for the benefit of a larger group of people. Since effective
altruism is a movement aimed at helping the most people, who are these people that
altruists hope to help? It is clear to me from this chapter that so far, the goal of
effective altruism is to uplift the poor. In this chapter, Singer states that money will
be utilized best if it is directed towards uplifting the needy in developing countries.
11. Indian Removal Speech
Mr. President, Members of Congress I am a Cherokee Indian name Lauren who
was removed from my house from my land with my family. I was born and raised
on that land that I instantly fell in love with and never thought in a few years I
would be removed from my home and forced to move somewhere else forever!
This shouldn t be happening to us, we are humans just like all of you here today
that we should be treating each other with respect and happiness. Me and my
family and friends don t deserve this kind of respect thats getting thrown at us nor
should we be forced and pushed around to move somewhere and know that our land
will be owned by someone else. For this reason we as CherokeeIndians should get our
land back and unite together and live normal again.
I am here today in my family s respect that some of them died during the march. I m
proud to stand here today in front of you guys today to try and get our land back
and return to our homes. My family, my friends, my people knew that this day will
come but we thought we could fight back. That did not work out for us after the
deadline. When we were forcefully removed out of our homes, put into cattle pits
in the pouring cold rain, and had to march through the cold winter snow were we
had to burry a lot of my people and close ones. I have always wanted to know what
Georgia wanted from us or our land. But from one thing I know or heard it was a
large land for them that they found value in our land like fertile, soil and

13. The Unitarian Universalist Meeting House
On October 12th 2014 I ventured into the Unitarian Universalist meeting house,
which is located at 501 South High Street in West Chester, PA. I was greeted at the
door by openly gay Reverend Bill Zelazny, who was wearing a tallis like prayer
shawl which was a colorful tapestry with no discernable symbols on it. His head
was uncovered. Reverend Bill was very welcoming and agreed to meet with me
after the service, which I was invited to stay for. I had never been to a religious
service in a denomination other than Judaism in my life, so I was very excited to
have the opportunity to experience the Unitarian faith close up. What first struck
me was the utter lack of religious symbols in the actual meeting room. The walls
were adorned with what looked to be homemade quilts and tapestries of varying
designs. Some were just colorful squares in a pattern, while another seemed to
depict scenes of African life and dance. There were two identical tapestries at the
front of the room, displaying colored curved candles in a rainbow pattern
surrounding a dove in flight. The tapestry looked to be imitating a feeling of
stained glass. Next to the pulpit were two woven signs that hung down from
tables. One said Coexist and the other said Peace . The only place I saw any
recognizable religious symbol was in the corner of the room, where a quilt had
several panels of different religious symbols. It included a cross, the Star of David,
the Islamic star and crescent, the Yin and Yang, as

If fish are the worst to ask about water, the medium they move, grow and
experience life through, perhaps the same can be said for culture . It s difficult to
take notice of something of which you are an intrinsic part. There need to be an
elapse of time to take notice. In some cases there are events that stretches out,
lengthen and perhaps deepen our perceptions. For me it has moved to Jersey City
out of necessity and living here for almost three years now.
While I do work and spend all my free time in the City, it wasn t until I heard about

parents why I was so black. My fatimagesher decided after our brief talk to take me
along from some errands that weekend downtown Brooklyn around the Fulton Mall
Area, near Albee Sq Mall. There was at the time and there are guys that sell stuff on
the side of the sidewalk they sell stuff specifically for black people: Black African
soap, raw shea and coco butter, incense, and books. Many of these books were self
published by our own for our own people. At least that was the way it felt.
Sometimes the facts weren t 100% accurate but you shouldn t underestimate what
that means to have something uniquely yours. Being always depicted in the media
as thugs, rapists or gangstas in the media made it seem that the only thing made for
us aside from prison cells was unnecessary suffering. Then came hip hop, which the
men selling stuff on the streets sold bootleg copies.I should also note that you could
also buy old MLK and Malcolm X speeches and Africa Bimbada stuff from them.
This made a lasting impression on me.
Talib Kweli and Mos Def are amazing artists each in their only rights. Their
performances together as Black Star gave me and many other hip hop fans an
amazing album. Aside from the sound of it, what I love about this particular song is
that it brings me back emotionally to those few moment were as I explored my own
culture and identity I found yet another thing to be excited about. What I also love
about this track is that it illustrates hip hop isnt all about selling drugs and thug
living. The commercial song are the only voices

What is the common ground between a traveling 3M sales representative, a third

Dan has been through many years of other careers searching for his dream job. I

years. He ended up quitting this job because of the relocation to North Carolina and
because of the tremendous amount of travel. I enjoyed the beautiful mountains and

experiences, from being a traveling 3M sales representative, to being a third grade
teacher and now a golf professional. He has done it all and at the same time he has a

Throughout these three final weeks of the course we focused on three particular
topics that emphasised and expands on community development. These three topics
were Module s 10 look at Organizations and their Nonprofit associated organizations,
Volunteerism which is taken from Module 8; that as a community developer I would
argue and recommend that every organization and institution needs to have volunteer
program. The application of these above topics in an organization can increase

community growth and sustainability. Development implies insights, which are
purposeful and are meant to be permanent and was said to influence community

Each person who decides to volunteer, do not only contribute to the community they

Throughout human history, the transformation from naГЇve children to mature adults
has been of profound importance. The various customs to prove maturation in
different cultures shows the widespread significance of this transition. Within
literature, the variety of passages to maturation spanning from peaceful and blissful
to depressing and unbearable exhibits the embodiment of this tedious process.
Bildungsroman stories embody all of these different paths from the common starting

Parallel to the Finch family, both families rely on a single father with a deceased
wife to provide for the family; however, their abusive alcoholic father neglects the
large number of children in the Ewell family and deprives them of a healthy home
unlike the Finch family. The characterization of Burris Ewell testifies to the lack of
a structured home life. Burris is, the filthiest human [Scout] has ever seen. His
neck was dark gray, the backs of his hands were rusty, and his fingernails were
black deep into the quick. This unsanitary description of a first grade boy shows
the lack of attention paid to the children in the Ewell residence. Burris additionally
has lice, portraying the lack of medical attention afforded to the children in the
Ewell family. This behavior normally would see the kids stripped from Mr. Ewell s
custody; however, the Ewell family receives autonomy because despite the fact that
Mr. Ewell uses all of their welfare money on alcohol and ammunition for his
poaching habit, the poached animals are the only food consumed by the children in
the Ewell family, and the kids have invoked pity from the population of Maycomb.
This passive policy transcends to the false accusation of Tom Robinson in the rape of
Mr. Ewell s nineteen year old daughter Mayella. Despite the physical age of Mayella
being one of an adult, Mayella is still a child at heart. The diction of her testimony
during Tom Robinson s trial confirms that she is uneducated and immature from lack
of interactions with civilized society outside of her daily interactions with the
minority community down the street from the Ewell s property behind the county
dump. Even simple questions elicited juvenile answers; when asked her age, she
responded, nineteen and a half. The vast majority of mature adults would not describe
their age in
20. Examine reasons for changes in pattern of world
development
Examine reasons for recent changes in patterns of World development. In the
1970 s Africa seemed poised to take off developmentally speaking while S.America
and especially Asia were seen with extreme pessimism. Since then patterns have
been reversed; Asia led by economies such as India have introduced new
nomenclature such as newly and recently industrialising countries while S.
America has followed close behind. Today it is Africa or more precisely Sub
Saharran Africa which has stagnated developmentally or in some cases even reversed
in some countries. Thios can be seen by looking at two countries India and Uganda.
In 1960 Uganda had a GDP/cap of $789 and a life expectancy of 44 years. India in
comparrison was $654 and 42 years;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Between 1998 and 2002 production rose by 14% while earnings decreased by
31%! These economic factors are a major reason for a lack of development in
affected areas. Asia and S. America were less adversely affects due to their
establishment of trading blocs which helped overcome barriers and fully take part
in the globalised economy. In much of Africa however this was held up by a lack
of integration into the digital infrastructure. Brandt predicted in 1980 that Africa
would be left behind by the digital divide and most countries of East/Southern
Africa were only connected to the terrestrial broadband cable between 2007 and
2010. In 2009 to put 25 agents on the phone in Kenya for a month cost $17000
while in India it cost just $600. Despite the impacts of economic factors however
the biggest impacts on modern patterns of world development have been political,
social and cultural. President Museveni of Uganda likened the advent of African
independence as giving a six year old the keys to the gun and liquor cabinets and
then being surprised at what happened next. The biggest factors in Africa slipping
behind developmentally has been political instability often underpinned by
tribalism. In a country such as Botswana which has escaped these GDP/cap is over
$14000 each year. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo which is still war torn
and lacking stable government it is $300 per year. It is impossible to develop in a
state of civil war; in the
21. The Wife Of Bath s Tale Gender Roles Essay
Gender Roles
Do men and women fully understand each other or do their generalizations prevent
them from really understanding what the other is like? In The Wife of Bath s Tale,
Geoffrey Chaucer conveys that it is hard for people to understand the opposite sex.
The tendency of being bias towards a specific gender makes it difficult to reach an
understanding. The struggle of trying to understand each other is also seen in News
Coverage of a Woman s Rights Campaign and The Men we Carry in Our Minds.
In The Wife of Bath s Tale, by Geoffrey Chaucer, a knight shows how difficult it is
to understand the opposite sex. The knight commits a crime and in order to save
his own life he must find the answer to the question What is the thing that women

22. The Pros And Cons Of Public Schools
David Cantu

Dr. Rebecca Millan
Public schools are the way to go!
There are many types of ways kids acquire an education today; some of these happen
to be public and public schools. Some assume that private schools offer superior
everything, justifying their tuition costs (Great Schools Staff). In that case, people
automatically convey the false belief that private schools have a much better form of
education. In reality, education in a Public school is highly more advanced and
experienced than any particular Private school, because of their social involvements
being opened to try new things, accumulating more experience for a smaller cost, and
having no limitations nor boundaries that will minimize student s skills and
capabilities.
Public schools have been around for decades, and have formed one of our main
options to pursue an education in the 21st century. Researchers mentioned, We
analyzed instructors and performance for over 300,000 elementary and middle
school students in 15,108 public, charter, and private schools. What we found
surprised us (Valerie Strauss). The experience these public schools carry is real, from
having a variety of students who practice different types of religion, to having people
who have been raised differently. Experiences like these allow the students to get
comfortable with these types of environments.
The message trying to be delivered there is that one day eventually all kids will
end up in what is called The Real World , and kids that have been raised and have
been educated in an environment with limited boundaries like private schools,
might eventually be facing several obstacles. For example, obstacles like not being
familiar socializing well enough with others. That is probably one of the toughest
one in such way that growing up in private schools, an individual will always be
socially hanging out or making relations around the same kind of people. Not being
able to develop social relations with others just another reason why, students in public
schools actually outperform those in private schools (Valerie Strauss).
In various perspectives that s unscrupulous for students, a tremendous part of a
student s education is being able to
23. The Pillowman Play Analysis
The Pillowman is a dark comedy written in 2003 by British Irish playwright Martin
McDonagh. First staged in 2007, The Pillowman returns to the stage, once again
deftly helmed by Tracie Pang and an incredible cast and creative team of the
company, Pangdemonium!; set design by Eucien Chia; lighting by James Tan, music
and sound by Darren Ng. The Pangdemonium s production at the Victoria Theatre
runs for 3 hours.
Martin McDonagh s The Pillowman is a dark drama that takes place in a nameless
totalitarian state. The play opens in a police interrogation room as two detectives,
Tupolski (Adrian Pang) and Ariel (Shane Mardjuki), question a man named Katurian
(Daniel Jenkins) about some violent child murders.

Ensuring that one scene does not anticipate, and hence betray another, Tracie Pang
s finely calibrated direction captures and sustains the rollercoaster extremes of
McDonagh s stories, evoking smiles that split into gasps, and laughter that
abruptly stops in its tracks. She understands that in a good story, one should never
be able to tell what will happen next. She must be something of an expert at
directing The Pillowman by now and sets the dark, ultraviolent tone right from the
start. It helped that Eucien Chia s multi layered set was so phenomenal, and
furthered the feelings of fear, anxiety and uneasy atmosphere. The set allowed for
some rapid changes, and I was impressed at the split second transitions between
scenes, and the detail that went into it. A single slide of a door would result in the
transformation from a police station to a storybook world and really immersed the
audience into the world with how elaborate it was. When the stories were being
staged, Pangdemonium! employed the use of MOJO Studios animation to bring them
to life, adding a new dimension to the storytelling process and an added layer of

Finally, looking at Leemore S. Dafny (2005) empirical examination of the effect
rival hospital mergers have on a firm s own price. Dafny broke this experiment up
into three distinct phases: 1985 1988 pre period , 1988 1997 treatment period ,
and 1997 2000 post period to show the relationship between price growth and rival
co location. Dafny notes that previous observational studies on the impact of
mergers have ignored selection problems and reported biased estimates. Specifically,
factors that are correlated with the outcome measure as well as with the probability
of merger will generate biased estimates of the impact of merger (Dafny 2005, 2). To
generate unbiased estimates Dafny uses a combination of rival analysis and... Show

This sector is selected because, the assumption of co location being uncorrelated
with factors related to price growth in the hospitals area would be violated if
hospitals prior to 1988 moved to an area because they expected prices to increase
during 1988 1996. Since the acute care hospital industry has not experience many
entries since the Hospital Survey and Construction Act of 1946, and less than one
percent of hospitals had rivals exit during the study period, the author concludes the
assumption holds. The dataset is constructed using panel data and then separated into
two samples: All Hospitals and Rival Sample.
All Hospitals, is comprised of 4,487 hospitals with data for all independent
variables, more than 100,000 residents in its counties or metropolitan area, are non
federal, and present in the 1988 American Hospital Association Survey. Rival
Sample, contains only non merging hospitals from the All Hospitals sample with
two or more rivals within 7 miles during 1988. The reasoning behind two or more
rivals is that if non merging hospital has less than two rivals then it cannot
experience a rival merger. While the rationale for 7 miles is due to this small area
when adjacent hospitals merge, it is reasonable to expect an effect on the prices of
rivals. The Rival Sample is then broken down into two subdivisions: 118 hospitals
with merging rivals (NMW) and 759 hospitals without merging rivals (NMWO). The
need for the distinction between NMWs and NMWOs is because
25. The United States And Australian Constitutions
The United States and Australian constitutions have their share of similarities and
differences. While they both have the same aim and goals, they are still two different
countries with their own views, constitutions, and types of of government, and of
course different approaches. As I go deeper into this I will explain how the
constitutions are so similar yet so different. There are several similarities contained
within the preambles of the Australian and United Statesconstitutions. Immediately,
they both tell of the people and their states which will be affected and governed by
the constitution which follows. Next, they say they have agreed to come together to
create a union of some form. In addition, they both end the opening of the... Show

Lastly, the constitution of Australia continues to discuss the admission of other
colonies belonging to the Queen. A branch is contained within most governments and
constitutions is the Legislative branch, and the United States and Australia are no
exceptions. The similarities of the first part or article, which addresses the
Legislative branches of the governments, is they both have a form of Congress,
although in Australia it is known as Parliament. The constitutions determine this
when they say All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress
(U.S. Const. art. I, В§ 1), in reference to the constitution of the United States, and The
legislative power of the Commonwealth shall be vested in the Federal Parliament
(Aust. Const. part I, В§ 1), as said in the Australian constitution. Also, within the
Congress or Parliament exists a Senate and a House of Representatives, and the
constitutions both govern the Senate will provide equal representation each state,
while the House of Representatives shall represent each state by population. They
also possess a similarity when governing the terms of office for those in the House of
Representatives and Senate. For example, in either country the members of the
Senate are elected for a six year term. In the United States the Senate contains two
senators for every state, and for Australia the Senate is composed six senators for
each original state. Additionally, in the Australian Senate

28. Sweden s Unusual Solution to the Energy Crisis
Did you know fossil fuels, unlike renewable sources of energy like hydropower,
wind and solar do not directly emit greenhouse gases. Scientists believe that
greenhouse gasses are the culprits behind global warming. The U.S.A. is trailing
behind in recycling and can improve on its sustainability and implement Sweden s
use of trash as a source of energy, enforce recyclinglaws, and create a greener
lifestyle. One way the United States can improve on its sustainability is by using
their trash as a source of energy. Sweden s wasteto energy program generates about
twenty percent of the country s district heating. This also generates electricity for a
quarter million homes. The incinerationprocess is very efficient at creating heat and
energy (Smith 1). In 2012 four percent of Swedish garbage is put into landfills, in
2013 only one percent of Sweden s trash is put into landfills, half of the waste is
recycling and forty nine percent is burned in waste to energy plants (Jones 1).
Power plants have more than doubled the amount of energy produced since 1985
(Schonning 2). It cost $286,000,000 to buy a waste to energy plant and the revenue
is $36,000,000 to $70,000,000; the plant will pay itself back in 10 years (Schonning

countries (Jones 1). They are also being paid for taking the trash and making energy
from the trash it is an extremely efficient system.

31. My Purpose Of Life Is A Life Of Purpose
When I was fifteen, I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, and my life forever
changed. At that young age I learned how much we take for granted. Robert Byrne
said, The purpose of life, is a life of purpose , and I have worked to mold my life
around these words. It only takes one spark to start a fire, and you do the world a
disservice by not using your spark. I want to pursue business law, because I want to
use what I learn to help make a long lasting impact. I plan on having an operational
foundation when I graduate law school. My foundation will explore many facets,
all My leading cause will be pediatric cancer, with a focus on patients/survivors, and
their families. The toll of cancer on an individual, and their family is devastating
both emotionally, and financially. I have seen the financial burden first hand, and
was placed on emergency medicaid in order to be treated. Money is scarce when a
child goes through cancer, and I hope to alleviate some of that burden. My family
was blessed to have a church community, that generously made it possible for my
parents to pay their mortgage while I was in the hospital. The proximity of the
hospital to my home, made it possible for family to be nearby, and not hours away.
My family got lucky to some extent, because we had a support group that helped get
us through my cancer fight. Not everybody has that support though, and there are
many families that are not able to stay with their children through their cancer battle.
Families are overwhelmed with their child s health, and stressing about financials is
not helpful. I would like to help take that financial burden off of families, so that they
can worry about what is truly important, their child getting better. My foundation, will
begin with cancer, but I would like to take it further than that. I feel strongly about
education, and about the need of more equal representation of women, and minorities
in positions of leadership. Education, is the root of all social, and economic
problems. In the United States we complain about poverty, but treat the symptoms,
rather than the cause of it. In poverty stricken areas the quality of education is poor,
which in turn leads to systematic poverty. I went to a high

How do you see race, ethnicity, and gender issues, trends, and demographics 10 or
20 years from now in USA society?Г‚ Race, gender, and ethnic relations in the
United States have dramatically changed in the last fifty years. Much progress has
been made in terms of respecting equal rights on the basis of race, ethnicity, and
gender. Since the changes in these relations are ongoing, being challenged and
reformulated, the pertinent question now is how does the future look like? How
will race, ethnicity, and gender issues, trends, and demographics will look like 10
or 20 years from now? While it is hard to give a clear answer to this question, the
relevant history and current events may give clues on the future changes and trends.
Since the era of Civil Rights Movements in the 1960s, the society s attitude toward
women has changed. According to Rosalind Chait Barnett, director of the
Community, Families Work Program at Brandeis University, Women s lives today are

participation with marriage and children, knowing that they are contributing to their
own economic well being, getting more education, and proving themselves in well

Hamlet s Views on Life and Death The famous soliloquy To be, or not to be
Shakespeare s powerful words clearly illustrate Hamlet is mentally unstable. He is
uncertain about death. Hamlet is proved to be troubled in the play when he says To

saying Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer/ The slings and arrows of

automatically thought they would mostly be marginally open and accepting to

Christianity. After all, Columbus essentially failed to authentically convince Portugal
to fortify his westward adventure, just as he failed to impress France and England
additionally. Why did they all astringently doubt and decline Christopher Columbus?
In particular, I believe King John II did not fortify Christopher because he mainly did
not trust to take the jeopardy of losing money and men. Conspicuously, Portugal did
not confidently believe in Christopher Columbus becoming prosperous by going on
this long, nugatory journey, which was contrary to some skeptical notion of others.

muscle is found where the bones are, the smooth tissues is found near the internal

Skeletal Muscle: these muscles come in different size and shapes that are designed
for the fibres, they have really tiny strands of stapedium muscle.
Smooth muscle: is normally found in the internal organs such as blood vessels,

Cardiac Muscle: this muscle is different from the other two muscle type because this

41. Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Monkey
Magical Realism and the Sublime in The Monkey
The Monkey is a short story written by Isak Dinesen. The story was published in
1934. The Monkey is a form of gothic sublime. In this story, I encountered many
elements that related to magical realism as well as the sublime.
The Monkey has many magical elements. The beginning of the story mentioned a
purple eyed young fallow deer (109). The element appears to me as being a magical
element rather than an element of the sublime. Another magical element was the
tortoise being more than one hundred years old (109). A person knows that no
tortoise is capable of living to be more than one hundred years old. Aunt Cathinka

According to Longinus, noble imagery is used to convey the sublime. Her luminous
eyes met his, and made him look away, and this dumb play was repeated twice over.
(114). The sublime element was an element of imagery. The woman and man s
attention was caught by each other s appearance that it took them a while to get back
to what they were doing.
Edmund Burke characterized the sublime as causing astonishment. In The Monkey ,
Boris said he could follow his aunts thoughts without looking at her (116). I feel that
this element of sublime is one of astonishment. The fact was so amazing that Boris
was so close to his aunt that he could follow what she was thinking without any sight
of her around.
In The Fantastic Sublime, Weiskel describes the sublime as beginning with a
contemplated object that is considered sublime when the attempt to represent it
determines the mind to regard its inability to grasp wholly the object as a symbol of
the mind s relation to a trandscent order. (51). Sublime literature has many elements
that are hard to grasp on to fully. Sublime can be something that will happen so fast
when someone tries to remember what occurred, they cannot.
In The Fantastic Sublime, Weiskel describes the structure of the sublime as divided
into three stages. The first phase is that the mind is determinate, habitual relationship
with the contemplated object. The second phase is experienced by the tearing of a

Picture a fragile glass merry go round, a menagerie, if you will, of adolescent social
classes and structure. The animals revolve, always mindlessly following the one in
front, each measuring his own height compared to his neighbors. If you fall short or
fall behind, never fear, just throw a jagged rock and shatter Mr. Popularity in front,
take his place, and the merry go round revolves still. There is no world outside,
nothing matters more than this brittle status seeking ambition and the taboos,
requirements, and rewards that come with it. Every action is fair game, whatever it

Marjorie first displays this in her fickle attitude towards men. Regarding Warren,
once the object of her affections, sometimes she seemed to reciprocate his feeling
with a faint gratitude, but she had tried him by her infallible test and informed him
gravely that she did not love him. (27); Warren had singularly been devoted to
Marjorie for years, but he failed the test , and, like the pathetic boys at the dance,
she pushed him to the sidelines. The test , interestingly enough, was that when she
was away from him she forgot him and had affairs with other boys. (27). Warren just
couldn t measure up to the competition, and Marjorie, exercising necessary social
judgement, casually is willing to inform him gravely as such. She has no reason not
to throw that rock and shatter his affections, because, after all, she has great heaps of
mail... addressed to her in various masculine handwritings. (27) to fall back on.
Bernice, Marjorie s sorta dopeless (27) cousin enters the scene. Boys reluctantly
dance with her, until finally, what choice do they have but to break out the two by

Warren strolls up, next in line for the death sentence named Bernice, and, when
asking about the wooden beam, receives The two by four? Oh, this? This is a club.

43. Athletes and Steroid Use Essay
In recent history American culture has become more and more dominated by sports.
Out of all of these sports baseball is considered to be America s pastime. Over the
last couple years America s pastime has come under scrutiny about some of its
players using anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing drugs. In an
interview with Sports Illustrated, Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig
said, ВЎВ§... hopefully we can figure out ways to solve this problem. It needs to be
solved. There is no one IВЎВ¦ve talked to who can say it is not a problem. Now the
question is, What can we do about it?ВЎВЁ (41). The commissioner is absolutely
correct in saying that the steroidsissue is a problem. Without a doubt the steroid issue

I do agree that the players who are using anabolic steroids are cheaters. It is sad that
great accomplishments and records set by honest players are being smashed by
juiced up athletes. In his Sports Illustrated column Rick Reilly states, ВЎВ§I believe
Barry Bonds should go straight to the Hall of Fame, too, even though I know that
heВЎВ¦s a cheater and that the second half of his career was as phony as Cheez
WhizВЎВЁ (118). I also sympathize with players who are playing the game
honestly only to be outdone by dishonest players. The youth of America cannot be
shown that cheating is bad, but it is also okay and you can get away with it.
If these players arenВЎВ¦t going to be totally axed from the game, record books, and
hall of fame then we should let the world and future generations know that there is an
asterisk next to these accomplishments. ВЎВ§That asterisk would say: Records are in
question because of widespread use of anabolic steroidsВЎВЁ (Verducci 38). This
way we are punishing cheaters while not totally obliterating their accomplishments.
Players who have played the game honestly will see the accomplishments of
dishonest players marred by this historical asterisk. The youth of America will learn
from this that there is no honor in cheating. Let all the people today and of future
generations know that this era of inflated numbers and hall of famers is under
scrutiny of widespread anabolic steroid use. I

from a system analysis by Frankelj in 1972.According to Joseph Frankel in his book
entitled Contemporary International theory and Behaviour of state in 1972 that he
think that linkage is something used to be the beginning of an analysis or a
communication.
Linkage theory described publics into four different type. For example, Enable Public ,
Normative Public , Functional Publics and Diffused Public .This four type of
publicity is described by their own use.Let take this four group of the public into a
detail description.Firstly, Enable Public is mean that a groups of people that
recognize an organization to keep alive in the society no matter it is a Non
government organization or government department. However, people have been
described in Enable Public most of that is not concerned about the organization or
department operation.Secondly, Normative Public is mean
45. What Was The Truman Doctrine
Stalin s occupation of Eastern Europe was not self serving nor was it aggressive.
This can be supported by noticing the positive impacts Stalin s occupation made and
by using America as a comparison always noting that America had many more self
serving incentives.
The US and USSR both would have both preferred that the other disappear but since
this would involve mutually assured destruction a system of global management
called the Cold War was established.
According to the orthodox view, the Cold War was caused by Soviet aggression in
which the USA tried to contain and protect the world by means of the Marshall plan
and Truman doctrine. It is however , easy to forget the loss that the Soviet Union
experienced .

This would logically seem as an agreement between the US and the USSR where the
US could control its Eastern European allies and conduct wars against the Third
World , while the Soviet union kept control of their own internal empire and satellite
states .
Both seem immoral and exploitative but was the Soviet Union causing as much harm
as the US ?
The US used Western Europe as a source of income by supplying it with exclusively
American products and America had intention of using the Ruhr , which is an
excellent example of how America used the Marshall plane and Truman doctrine for
personal gain.
The Soviet Union however had secured it s means of production and had also catered
for satellite states whilst instilling communist values which revolve around
supporting the worker and eliminates the opportunity for one class to exploit the
other and consequently create an economic disparity .

46. A Summary OfLetters From The Corrugated Castle
In Letters from the Corrugated Castle, a 13 year old girl named Eldora writes a
series a letters describing everything that is going on in her life. She had believed
for years that her mother had passed away when she was quite young. Eldora lived
with a very nice couple who had been very kind and taken Eldora in as their own.
Eldora called them Aunt and Uncle. At the beginning of the story, Aunt, Uncle, and
Eldora all packed up their belongings from their home in New Bedford,
Massachusetts and left for a new life in the chaotic city of San Francisco, California.
One day, Eldora received a letter from her mother explaining a lot of unanswered
questions. Eldora was thrilled to know that her mother was not dead, and was
alive and quite well. Eldora s mother said that she would soon come by to pay
Eldora a visit and to tell her why she had been unable to care for her the past few
years. However every time she was due to visit, she would have something come
up and not be able to visit. Until after about the 3rd reschedule, when she was
finally able to come into the city for a visit. Eldora was scintillating with happiness
and very eager to see her mother for the first time in what felt like forever. When
she saw her mother and she immediately began to look for every similarity, such as
eyes, voice, hair, even the way that she walked.
Aunt seemed to have quite a few questions about why and how everything had
happened. So mother then told a story of how she
47. An Analysis Of Cold As Heaven By Judith Ortiz Cofer
Cold as Heaven Judith Ortiz Cofer s poem Cold as Heaven is a very sweet
interaction between a granddaughter and her dying grandmother. The
granddaughter is the narrator. After reading the poem, I believe the meaning of
the poem is that the cold is something that the grandmother never experienced, and
the cold refers to heaven. The grandmother has not yet experienced heaven and she
is curious. In lines 25 30: When her eyes return to me, I can see she s waiting to
hear more about the purifying nature of ice, how snow makes way for a body, how
you can make yourself an angel by just lying down and waving your arms (Cofer).
These lines describe winter as a place where angels are made. It mentions that even
when the snow touches you, it is a feeling of purification. This symbolizes that
heaven is a place filled with angels that purify you.
The poem consists of many different uses of figurative language in order to connect
snow to death. Cofer included the use of similes to allow the readers to make a
connection to what she was saying, so that they could grasp a better understanding.
An example of a simile can be found in lines 6 7: the Caribbean sun winds up the
world like an old alarm clock (Cofer). The author is comparing two unlike things,
the sun and an alarm clock, however they have a similar connection. The Caribbean
sun is what wakes the world, just like an alarm clock does. The use of this simile
adds to the poem s meaning because it describes the life that the grandmother lives
and that is warmth in her home in the Caribbean.
There is a lot of imagery included in the poem. Throughout the poem I was able to
visualize what the author descriptively shared. The poem includes descriptions of
where the grandmother lives in the Caribbean, where the granddaughter lives with
the winter weather, and how heaven looks through the eyes of the granddaughter s
comparison to winter. As I read through the poem several time, I looked for some
mention of Christianity. I found it in lines 1 2: Before there is a breeze again
before the cooling days of Lent, she may be gone (Cofer). Obviously, it is a
Christian belief that when you die you will go to heaven. I wondered how long

48. SWOT Analysis of ReviseIT Consultants
Introduction
The review of the case study presents that ReviseIT consultants have to deal with a lot
of problems to operate in an effective manner. The case study specifically revolved
around two points that need immediate consideration; issues with human resource
and the change management. The paper will highlight these issues with reference to
some key models of strategic human resource management and some theories
regarding change management. In light of these theories and models this report will
present recommendations for the case of ReviseIT consultants.
SWOT Analysis of ReviseIT
SWOT analysis is very crucial in determining the status of any company. Positive
assets define the strengths and weaknesses for a company. On the other hand, threats
and weaknesses are defined by the negative assets or liability of the organization. The
SWOT analysis of the company is presented below.
Strengths
Strengths signify the current position of a company in terms of generating profits.
The main strength of ReviseIT that can be determined from the case study is that the
company has implemented a functional and purposeful intranet network within the
company. This signifies that they have the infrastructure to make further
developments and improvements within their current system.
Moreover, the experience of their Chief Executive, Frank Ferrara is also one of their
strengths.
Weaknesses
Weaknesses present those factors that have a detrimental impact on the current
situation of
49. The Aim of Government Economic Policy Is Sustained...
The economic policy of a government needs to be supportive of a country s best
interests. It may be argued that the main objective of a government is to promote
sustained economic growth to improve and increase the nation s prosperity (Nellis
and Parker, 1996). This can only be achieved with structural policies used to enhance
the long term economic performance and the creation of a stable macroeconomic
environment that will encourage stable growth to take place. This requires
management of both monetary and fiscal policies, which can be examined in terms of
the way that they have the aims of creating a stable economic environment which will
facilitate growth and the way that the policies manage, and are seen to manage all

These regular meetings take place monthly between the governor of the Bank of
England and the Chancellor of the Exchequer, who is a member of the government.
The way in which the decision making process to manage monetary policy has been
managed is a reflection of government policy and the desire to create an economy
which will facilitate growth. The decisions regarding policy, including the price
stability and interest rates are not made by one person, but by the monetary policy
committee (Bank of England, 2007). The committee will meet monthly to examine
the state of the economy, and take a vote as to whether interest rates should be
changed, and which way they should be changed. The committee consists of
professional experts who are qualified to make these decisions and assess the
implications of their decision. The action take will be in line with a straightforward
majority. The role of the monetary policy committee may be the maintenance of price
stability, but they are obliged to do this within the government inflation targets (Bank
of England, 2007). In addition to this the committee is also bound to support the
government policy on employment and growth in the economy (Bank of England,
2007). Therefore the independence is limited in terms of the goal is set for them,
but at least the way that they reach that goal appears to have a degree of discretion.
In these meetings the treasury also has a right to be
50. Intimate Partner Violence And Sexual Violence
Intimate Partner Violence
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), intimate
partner violence (IPV) is a serious, preventable public health problem that affects
millions of Americans and is described as a type of harm caused by a current or
former partner or spouse and may consists of physical, sexual, or psychological
abuse; it does not discriminate, can occur among heterosexual or same sex couples,
and does not require sexual intimacy. The CDC administered a survey in 2010 called
the National Intimate Partner and Sexual ViolenceSurvey (NISVS) to examine the
frequency of intimate partner violence (IPV), sexual violence (SV), and stalking

rape, physical violence, stalking); male victims most often experienced physical
violence.
Perpetrators of IPV are likely to have experienced or witnessed some form of early
childhood or adolescence trauma (i.e. mental, physical, and/or sexual abuse or inter
adult abuse), and thus develop negative and maladaptive behaviors that may lead to
a need for power and control in relationships as well as poor conflict resolution
(Eckhardt, Murphy, Sprunger, 2014, p. 1). The Power Control diagram from the
National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence (NCDSV) is useful in
understanding the overall pattern of abusive and violent behaviors of IPV
perpetrators to establish and maintain control over his/her partner. Developed by:
Domestic Abuse Intervention Project
Produced/Distributed by: National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence
Further, the NISVS and NCDSV states that lifetime and one year estimates for IPV
are extremely high for adults and more than 12 million people are affected each
year; and more often than not, women experience high rates of severe IPV, resulting
in long term chronic disease, other negative health impacts, or psychiatric disorders.
As such, object relations theory may provide insights as to why some people engage
in interpersonal violence and others do not.

51. How Oil Prices Affect the Price of Food
How Oil Prices Affect the Price of Food
By Post Carbon | Wed, 21 December 2011 18:07
The current global food system is highly fuel and transport dependent. Fuels will
almost certainly become less affordable in the near and medium term, making the
current, highly fuel dependent agricultural production system less secure and food
less affordable. It is therefore necessary to promote food self sufficiency and
reduce the need for fuel inputs to the food system at all levels. The connection
between food and oil is systemic, and the prices of both food and fuel have risen and
fallen more or less in tandem in recent years (figure 1). Modern agriculture uses oil
products to fuel farm machinery, to transport other inputs to the farm, and to ... Show

The trends in the oil industry are clear and undisputed: exploration and production
are becoming more costly, and are giving rise to greater environmental risks, while
competition for access to new prospective regions is generating increasing
geopolitical tensions. According to the International Energy Agency, the rate of
world crude oil production reached its peak in 2006.[IEA 2010a) The IMF has
joined a chorus of energy industry analysts in concluding that scarcity and high
prices are here to stay.[IMF 2011a, 2011b] A collapse in demand for oil resulting
from sharply declining global economic activity could cause oil prices to fall, as
happened in late 2008. Indeed, this is a fairly likely possibility. But while it would
make oil cheaper, it would not make fuel more affordable to most people. It is
theoretically possible for the world to curb oil demand through policies that limit
consumption, and it is also conceivable that some unexpected technological
breakthrough could rapidly result in a cheap, effective alternative to petroleum.
However, these latter two developments are rather improbable. Thus there is no
likely scenario in which the services provided by oil will become more affordable
within the context of a stable global economy at any time in the foreseeable future.
While wealthy consumers are able to absorb incremental increases in food prices, a
sudden interruption in the availability of fuel (due to geopolitical

These categories are arranged on degree of difficulty, meaning that a learner, who is
able to perform at the higher levels (Analysis, Synthesis, Evaluation), of the taxonomy
, is demonstrating a more complex level of cognitive thinking.
The Psychomotor Domain
The psychomotor domain refers to the use of basic motor skills, coordination, and
physical movement. Simpson (1972) developed seven psychomotor categories to
support Bloom s domain.
1. Origination; a learner s ability to create new movement patterns
2. Adaptation; a learner s ability to modify motor skills to fit a new situation
3. Complex Overt Response; the intermediate stage of learning a complex skill
4. Mechanism; the ability to perform a complex motor skill
5. Guided Response; the early stage of learning a complex skill which includes
imitation
6. Set; a learner s readiness to act
7. Perception; the ability to use sensory cues to guide physical activity
These physical behaviours are learned through repetitive practice. A learner s ability
to perform these skills is based on precision, speed, distance, and technique. Learners
general objectives would be to writes smoothly and legibly; accurately reproduces a

55. The Role Of The Vizier In The Middle Kingdom Of Egypt
The Middle Kingdom of Egypt lasted roughly from C.2055 1786.B.C. It is written
that the Vizier was the right hand man and the most trusted advisor for Pharaoh
during the Old, Middle and New kingdoms. The viziers were the second most
powerful official, and were appointed by the Pharaoh to be the head of the
government administrators. The viziers weren t from royal blood. Today they are
called and known as advisors rather than viziers. The position of vizier, or advisors,
was important in helping the Pharaohrun his empire and our modern day President
uses his advisors in the same way today.
During the Middle Kingdom viziers served as mayors of their cities. They were
given charge by the kings to oversee that local governors were doing their
