Argumentative Essay On Illegal Immigration
Writing an essay on the topic of illegal immigration can be a challenging task, as it involves
navigating through a complex and sensitive subject. The difficulty lies in presenting a well-
rounded argument that considers various perspectives while maintaining a clear and concise
stance.
Firstly, researching the topic demands a thorough exploration of the historical, social, and
economic aspects of illegal immigration. It requires sifting through a plethora of information,
ranging from statistical data to expert opinions, to establish a solid foundation for the essay.
Crafting a coherent argument involves delving into the legal implications, ethical considerations,
and the impact on both the immigrant population and the host country. Analyzing the root causes
of illegal immigration and understanding the consequences for individuals and society is crucial.
This process requires critical thinking skills and the ability to synthesize diverse information.
Additionally, addressing counterarguments is a key element of an argumentative essay.
Anticipating opposing views and effectively refuting them demands a nuanced understanding of
the subject matter. Striking a balance between empathy and rationality is challenging, as the
issue often involves human lives and complex socio-political dynamics.
The language used in such essays must be precise and respectful, avoiding inflammatory or
biased language. Maintaining objectivity while expressing a strong stance is a delicate balancing
act that adds to the complexity of the task.
In conclusion, writing an argumentative essay on illegal immigration requires extensive research,
critical thinking, and the ability to navigate through sensitive and multifaceted issues. It demands
a balanced approach that considers various perspectives while presenting a compelling argument.
Despite the challenges, it is an opportunity to engage with an important and relevant topic that
impacts societies worldwide.

you can.
What is (are) the purpose(s) of research? Explain your answer.
Research allows us to better understand what is unknown, how a human thinks, why a
dog barks when they hear a stranger approaching or that the earth is round and not
flat. Research allows us to find answers to the questions we have. Research attempts
to both understand and define. There are three kinds of research; Explanatory;
Exploratory and Descriptive research. Explanatory, Exploratory and Descriptive
research define what research is; Research is the attempt to explain, explore and
describe (Neuman, 2006, 24).

Sensitivity: The ability for the scale to measure both the response and stimuli without
being affected.
It is possible for a measure to have one and not all of the above criteria s. If it lacks
one of the measurements the chances of the study/research lacking credibility are
higher.
What is different about attitude measurement compared to other phenomena we
might study? What does this require us to do differently in defining variables
compared to the measurement of other phenomena? Is there any characteristic of the
survey method that makes this problem easier to overcome?
Attitude measurement is when a research is studying the reaction of participants to a
certain phenomena; while when studying a phenomena you are attempting to explore
and describe it. When measuring a phenomena the variables are clear and known
while with attitude measurement they are not. In order to overcome the lack of
control over the variable within attitude measurements you can create a clear

While the organization offered delectable subs, Metro could without much of a

The Philosophy Of Education And Education
The philosophy of education seeks to study the process and discipline of education
in order to understand how it works, improve its methods and perfect its purposes in
today s society. How this is done is determined by how well the learner internalizes
the concepts of the discipline taught by the educator. Educators have a tremendous
responsibility not only to prepare students for their lives ahead, but also to contribute
to the evolution of knowledge for future generations. Each generation not only
educates the next but also improves our way of thinking. Ideally, every teacher has a
philosophy of educationsetting a certain tone in the classroom and establishes a goal
to see whether or not the expectations of students performances are being reached.
In today s society, every student needs a positive role model. As a teacher, you take
on the responsibility of implementing empathy, respect, confidence, and motivation
within each classroom environment. By fostering a 2nd home type of atmosphere, I
believe that students will translate a feeling of acceptance into a desire to succeed in
both their academic and personal lives. The combination of nurture and discipline
will give each student the foundation needed to achieve their goals. Driving a student
to realize their potential is an important task that only dedicated teachers can instill.
Tracing back to the 19th century, Friedrich Froebel, a European educator, created one
of the most innovative philosophies of

Findings and Analysis In this section, the results of studies gathered using
Multisensory Environments (MSEs) is presented. The use of Snoezelen, gardens and
controlled environments alike were used to find the benefits of multisensory therapy
with dementia patients living in nursing homes.
The term MSE can be used broadly to encompass any environmental intervention that
promotes stimulation of multiple sensory systems, including but not limited to,
visual auditory, gustatory, olfactory, tactile, and vestibular systems... MSE s may be
less elaborate and include low tech sensory inputs that provide controlled stimulation
of multiple sensory systems in a contained space. (Crowe, 2014. p.199)

Occupational Therapist, Jessica Crowe, states, Data analysis revealed that there is no
evidence supporting the effectiveness of MSE interventions for those with dementia
(p. 200). Crowe based this statement off of results of a systematic review conducted
in 2002. This review was made to determine the effectiveness of MSE interventions
for individuals with dementia consisting of three sessions showing no significant
changes in behavior, mood, or cognition immediately after sessions, at mid , post , or
one month post intervention follow up (Chung Lai, 2002). Crowe states, These
findings should be viewed with caution due to the wide variety of studies included in
the analysis and limited rigor in the approach (2014). Because the complexity and
individuality of reactions to the sensory stimulation, MSE interventions are difficult

Introduction
Providing care for a family member can cause a tremendous strain for the primary
caregiver in many areas of his/her life including financial, physical, and
psychological which often results in both increased emotional needs and physical
complications for the caregiver (Eun Jeong Lee, DeDios, Fong, Simonette Lee,
2013). As disabled older adults live longer lives, there is now an increasing need to
rely on others to assist them with their day to day activities and activities of daily
living (ADL), and that role often falls upon the spouses of the impaired or close
family members (Barbosa, Figueirdo, Sousa Demain, 2010). Research data
provided by the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) estimated that there were
approximately 44 million caregivers age 18 and over, with one third of those
caregivers being male, whom were providing care to adults age 50 and above

Swot Analysis Of Verizon
Introduction Verizon Communications (referred to as Verizon) and Vodafone s
partnership of Verizon Wireless ended when Verizon acquired the wireless division
during 2013. The acquisition cost Verizon $130 billion, but the gains increase
Verizon s possibilities into the future. In fact, it moves Verizon closer to their goal
of corporate strategy: to build corporate advantage to earn above normal returns
(Diversification, n.d.). Verizon s strategy scope broadens horizontally with the
acquisition. A company broadens its scope in three ways: horizontally, vertically,
and geographically. A geographic scope expands the organization geographically or
globally (Divers, n.d.) A vertical scope comprises of expanding forward, backward, or
both, while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the acquisition, Verizon passes this test easily. Verizon s 4G LTE is the fastest
data network type available in the U. S. While Cingular has a mass following on its
wireless network, it is not the fastest. With continuing demand for devices to connect
wirelessly increasing consumers mobility, Verizon s prospects grow. Verizon also
gains capabilities that enhance its offering with providing services consumers never
knew they needed. It goes beyond the unlimited data plans now offered from the
original shared plans from the beginning. Thinking beyond consumer needs of
tomorrow, but further into the future, Verizon seeks creative ideas by thinking
outside the box. It is those paradoxical suggestions, like its 4G LTE, that sustains the
organization. The second test of durability means the resources depreciate slowly
(Collis Montgomery, 2008). From the look of Verizon s network, the 103 million
additional customers, its reputation, and its brand are not depreciable. Verizon
delivers quality and reliable service through its network, building customer loyalty
and trust. Its reputation derived from the delivery of quality and reliable service
strengthens its brand. As the company introduces new ideas and means to enhance
consumer mobility, the more durable its reputation and brand
Analysis Of The Nutcracker
The fifth and final 2017 Colorado Springs Philharmonic and Oklahoma City Ballet
performance of The Nutcracker took place on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at 2:00
pm at the Pikes Peak Center. This rendition featured Conductor Thomas Wilson,
Oklahoma City Ballet Artistic Director Robert Mills, the Colorado Springs Children s
Chorale, and numerous student dancers from the Pikes Peak Region. Through the
excellence in the music, dancing, and stage and costume design, this holiday
Nutcracker performance not only captured the spirit of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovskys
music but also conveyed the Christmas spirit as well.
The Nutcracker is a fairytale, two act ballet that is centered around the Stahlbaum
family s Christmas Eve celebration. The plot of this ballet was an adaption by
Alexandre PГЁre of a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann with the musical score composed
by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa. Act I began with
Christmas Eve festivities at the Stahlbaum home with dancing and joyous
celebration with family and friends. Herr Drosselmeyer, a family friend, and his
apprentice, Hans, arrived at the party, bringing gifts for everyone, including a
special wooden Nutcracker for the Stahlbaum s daughter, Clara. Clara was
captivated by the gift, and after the party ended, she snuck into the living room to
check on her Nutcracker, where she falls asleep. Suddenly, the living is magically
transformed into a battlefield between toy soldiers and giant mice and Clara

Workplace Pressure is Unavoidable in Today s
Contemporary...
Workplace pressure
Several authors, Van der Lippe (2207), Mishra (2011), Shivaprasad (2013) write
that workplace pressure is an unavoidable factor of living and working in the
contemporary world. A reasonable amount of pressure at an acceptable level will
have the tendency to keep workers alert, motivated and willing to learn. However,
there are times when the pressure may become too much and this may lead to stress.
According to Chrousos (2009) and Shivaprasad (2013) the emotion of stress is often a
harmful response to the demands of the activity of nursing and the nurse s own
emotional capability. The environments in which mental health nurses are employed
inevitably generate intensity and a diversity of stressors related to the nature of the
consumers being treated. Ward (2011) writes that at times the consumer may become
unpredictable and aggressive which in itself creates a hostile environment. Laal and
Alirmaie (2010), write that stress related disorders do occur among all nurses but
particularly among mental health nurses at all levels but particularly those on the
front line (Ward, 2011). If this stress is uncompensated it may lead to
depersonalization and when combined with other uncompensated emotions may
progress to the syndrome known as burnout.
The concept of burnout
Adams, Boscarino Figley, (2006) and Wilkins (2007) write that providing care can
both be highly rewarding and yet highly stressful with the result at times being an
adverse outcome
My Wedding Day In My Family
Chapter 7
~~~~~ ***** ~~~~~
I woke up and found myself on my bed. I was having a small headache. Throughout
the entire week, I was working on my assignments for school and I was also working
on the day care centre. Today is my wedding day so I also had to get my wedding
dress and man; I was so busy in the week days. I am kind of glad that our wedding is
on the weekend.
I got out of the bed and went to the washroom and got freshened. I came out of the
washroom and heard the door knock. Juni, I got your wedding dress. Open the door.
I heard sis say.
I sighed and opened the door, finding sis looking excited and she was holding my
wedding dress. Even though, I went with her to choose the wedding dress, I really
didn t pay any attention when sis was choosing my wedding dress. I mean, we are
only getting married because of the twins and I never even wanted to get married.
So, why would I have any interest in choosing my wedding dress?
I let sis come in my room and she hugged me and then pushed me in the washroom,
giving me my wedding dress.
Juni, get dress so that we can do your make up. Sis said. I sighed and wore my
wedding dress that was silver and it was a mermaid wedding dress style.
After a couple of hours . . .
Don t open your eyes yet, I heard my makeup artist say. She was doing my eye make
up, while some other hair dresser was doing my hair. Now, slowly open your eyes.
My makeup artist said.
I opened my eyes and looked at the mirror they placed in front of me and I couldn t
believe my eyes. I was wearing a simple mermaid silver wedding dress, a bit of make
up and my long hair was tied in a simple bun. I was wearing a silver necklace and a
pair of long silver earrings. I couldn t believe that I looked that pretty.
My Juni looks beautiful. Sis said as she hugged me. She had waters in her eyes.
I turned around and whipped her tears. Sis? Why are you crying?
I am really happy for you. I m happy that you are getting married but I always
thought of you as my own sister. I will be so lonely without you in this house. I will
miss you. Sis said as she hugged me.
I will miss you too. I said as I hugged her back.
Big brother came in the room with Clara and hugged me and kissed my forehead. My
Compare And Contrast Antony And Brutus
In the book Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, the speech that Antony gives at
Caesar s funeral is more effective than that of Brutus , due to the differences Brutus
and Antony have on what they believe will be most effective in persuading the
plebeians to support them. They have different views on honor and gravitas, and
how it will serve them in persuading the plebeians. There are also differences in how
they speak to them, including the use of verbal ironyand sarcasm, or their
straightforwardness. In addition, Antony relies on pathos to make his point, while
Brutus uses logos. Due to the way Antony defends his side of the argument, the
plebeians side with him, and later end up killing Brutus and the rest of the
conspirators. During... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they speak at the funeral, Brutus uses facts to back his reasoning, and tries
to explain to the plebeians that what killing Caesar was the right choice to make.
He tells them this information in a way so that they do not think that he killed
Caesar for his personal gain. He tells them, there is joy for his fortune, honor/ for his
valor, and death for his ambition. (JC III, II, 106 107) trying to make a logical point
in that Caesar was too ambitious, and that he killed him for the good of Rome. On the
other hand, Antony uses pathos in his speech, targeting the plebeians emotions to pin
them against the conspirators. Antony during his speech, tells them My heart is in
the coffin there with Caesar (JC III, II, 116). Antony s speech gains the hearts of the
romans, ultimately causing them to go against the conspirators. During his speech he
focuses on emotions, while Brutus focuses on facts and reasoning, this being the
main reason behind Antony s winning of the plebeians favor during his speech at
Meaning And Symbols Of The Eucharist
Religion remains the only unifying factor among different people globally
regardless of the social status, gender, age, political affiliation and skin color. The
world has many religions that people believe in although all religions believe in one
Supreme Being who created the universe. However, the means through which the
people believe in the Supreme Being comes in different ways depending on the
religion and its beliefs. In the different religions, many practices resemble but have
different names attached to them based on the people, their location, and their
religious teachings they follow. Such practices include the Lord s Supper as referred
by most Protestant churches while the Catholics refer the same as the Eucharist.
Happenings during that time become important to every person who believes in the
Supreme Being through His Son JesusChrist. The events surround the time when
Jesus sat with his disciples and had the last meal with them in His human body hence
signifying an important event in the life if every believer. The Eucharist, therefore,
becomes important in defining the life of a Catholic and the manner in which they
need to emulate the life of Christ. Eucharist hence remains as a vital element to every
Catholic who believes and prays through the Holy Virgin Mary the mother of Jesus
who intercedes for them to the Supreme Being and the Creator of the Universe.
Meaning and symbols of the Eucharist
According to Sri (11), the Eucharist stands for another name for
Elton John is no stranger to off beat collaborations. Working previously with artists
like Eminem and Queens of the Stone Age, he has seen his fair share of unexpected
Nutritional Support
Nutritional Support for Elder Patients
Nutrition determines a lot when it comes to the health of elderly (65 and above)
patients. Over the past couple of years, nutritional status has been deemed to be of
real importance in a variety of morbid conditions such as dementia, heart disease and
cancer in persons over the age of sixty five. Despite the fact that malnutrition in the
elderly does not have a uniformly accepted definition, abnormal body mass index
(BMI) and involuntary weight loss are some of the common indicators. As it happens,
health practitioners find it hard to diagnose weight loss as a symptom of malnutrition
in elderly patients due to the fact that loss of weight is also part of the physiology of
aging. Generally, elderly patients are challenged with the effects of aging, protein
under nutrition, weight loss, cognitive impairment as well as other vascular risk
factors that threaten their health status. It is therefore important for elderly patients
to follow a certain dietary recommendation that ensures they are not malnourished
and as such remain healthy.
With careful nutritional assessment, there are guidelines which have been developed
with the aim of improving and maintaining the nutritional status of ... Show more
B12, folate, niacin, fluoride, vitamin D, magnesium and calcium. Well documented
recommendations for the elderly regarding high fat and cholesterol intake and their
strategies. Increasing dietary fiber may help in the prevention of colon cancers and
diverticular disease, as well as the treatment of obesity, lipid disorders, glucose
The Liberal Side Of The Immigration Debate
The liberal side of the immigration debate supports legal immigration, increasing the
number of legal immigrants permitted to enter the U.S. each year, and blanket
amnesty for current illegal immigrants. Liberals believe that regardless of how they
came to the U.S., illegal immigrants deserve things like U.S. government financial
aid for college tuition and visas for spouse/children to come to the U.S. They believe
that families shouldn t be separated and that many illegal immigrants do the jobs that
the average American does not want to do (Primeaux). The liberals are also strongly
against laws such as Arizona s SB 1070 and believe that such laws only encourage
racial profiling and are unconstitutional.
Democrats (who are generally more liberal) believe that a comprehensive immigration
reform is essential to fixing our broken immigration system. If a proper reform is put
in place, it will help to continue the tradition of innovation that immigrants have
brought to the American economy, and held to ensure a level playing field for
American workers. President Obama has recently stepped in to try and create a
solution. In November 2014, President Obama announced executive action offering
deportation relief for up to five million undocumented immigrants who are
contributing to their communities. The Presidential order also focuses on cracking
down on illegal immigration at the border and ensuring that immigrants who live here
pay taxes ( Democrats.org. ).
Liberals believe in
How Does Alison Bechdel Use Allusions In Fun Home
In the creatively illustrated novel Fun Home by Alison Bechdel has many references
to different works of literature that are used to explain and relate to her experiences
throughout the novel. It seems to be that the main character Alison and her family
would rather live in a world of literature than their current world. Alison uses multiple
allusions of different literatures in her novel, the reason she uses all of these literary
references is to explain to us that the people in her life including herself do not want
to be in their world. The noticeable uses of literature in the novel are the chapters
which are all names taken from different works of literature. Authors such as James
Joyce, Albert Camus, Henry James, along with myths such... Show more content on
An example of this is when she tells us that she feels as if her father Bruce cares
more about little things in his life more than his family, like the house renovations.
Alison even says I grew to resent the way my father treated his furniture like
children, and his children like furniture (Bechdel, p.14) to describe to us how she
thinks her father is viewing her family, as if they are all just apart of the house.
Alison also likes to compare people and places in her life to things in literature.
Alison relates her father to many different characters, such as the novel The Great
Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald, due to Bruce s love for the character Gatsby. Alison even
tells us that he has started to act and even looks like Gatsby (Bechdel, p.g.64).
Alison also describes her surroundings in the view of literary places. The Chapter
The Canary Colored Caravan is also a literary reference to Kenneth Grahame s The
Wind In The Willows a book her and her father used to read. Alison s setting of her
hometown called Beech Creek is somewhat similar to The Wild Woods in Grahame
s novel. Along with how the animals never leave there, much like Bruce. So the
author is almost literally describing her town in the form of a different world, a place
that she might wish to
Sterigmatocystin Essay
Sterigmatocystin (ST) is a carcinogenic polyketide [12] produced by species in
several fungal genera. Microfungi capable of producing ST are common food, feed
and indoor contaminants, and may also be plant and mammalian pathogens, thus
having a large economic impact for the biotechnological, agricultural and food
industry [12, 13]. Nanotechnology plays an important role in the fabrication of
different nanoparticles that can exhibit novel antimicrobial properties [14]. The nano
scale of metals play roles in understanding the ability to manipulate biological
processes which will be the central theme for present biomedical and biological
issues that need a nanoscience or nanotechnology approach [15]. Shahverdi et al [14]
Moreover, selenium has also been found to trigger the generation of ROS, with both
elements capable of reacting with intracellular thiols and forming intermediates that
cause oxidative stress as a consequence of the formation of superoxide radicals [21,
22]. Nanoparticles can contribute to functional damages of cell membrane or wall by
disrupting the integrity of these important envelopes [23]. Selenium nanoparticles
(SeNPs) have become the focus of intensive research owing to their wide range of
applications in areas such as antioxidants [14, 24 26], antibacterial activity [16] and
anticancer [16, 27] applications. However, so far not much has been reported on the
evaluation of antifungal activity of SeNPs. Studies of Shahverdi et al [14] have
shown that antifungal formulations in the form of nanoparticles could be used as
potential fungicidal material. It has been found that SeNPs exhibit low cytotoxicity
compared with selenium compounds and possess excellent anticancer and therapeutic
activities making them apt for medical applications [28, 29]. SeNPs have anticancer
activity against kidney, breast, and lung [30, 31] and hence, can be used as
chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic agents. On the other hand, SeNPs
The Importance Of Gun Safety
Not long after the tragic shooting at the Stoneman Douglas High School, former
President Barack Obama immediately exploited the situation and called for long
overdue gun restrictions.
As reports surfaced that 19 year old Nikolas Cruz had killed 17 students at the
Florida high school, Obama felt it was necessary to push his liberal agenda for more
gun control.
After eight years of destroying this great nation, the former president won t go away.
We are grieving with Parkland. But we are not powerless. Caring for our kids is our
first job. And until we can honestly say that we re doing enough to keep them safe
from harm, including long overdue, common sense gun safety laws that most
Americans want, then we have to change, Obama tweeted
Ancient Egyptians Vs Sumerians
While both the Egyptians and Sumerians developed a sophisticated way of life with
complex religion, political system, system of writing and social classes, there are
numerous differences between the two groups. The Egyptian s beliefs in gods and
goddesses indicated the significance of nature in their lives and every human activity.
The Egyptiansthought that the power of nature were superintended by the different
deities. They also believed that the gods and goddesses had the power of life and death
over everyone. The ancient Egyptians thought that after death they could enjoy their
lives because they believed that in the afterlife people were happy, well fed, and
busy with the same activities they had done in life. This belief sometimes led
Stranger Than Fiction
Stranger than Fiction, written by Zach Helm and directed by Marc Forster,
embarks on a journey of an IRS auditor, Harold Crick, who s found his life to be
narrated and learns about his untimely doom. Literary is found throughout the
movie, it s found in the author s, Karren Eiffel, portrayal of Harold Crick s life as
well as in her attempt to finish her novel, this adds to the literary techniques that are
found in any work of literature. Some of these literary techniques that are seen in the
movie, Stranger than Fiction, are point of view, narration, irony, foreshadowing, and
characterization. Within Stranger than Fiction, there is also reveal of a meaningful
The point of view found in Stranger than Fiction, is in the protagonist, the main
character or hero, of the story and the antagonist, the character that causes conflict
for the hero. Harold Crick is protagonist of the story, the movie is mostly told
through his point of view. The antagonist, Karren Eiffel, does have parts of the
play in which we are seeing the side of the story through her. While unlike most
antagonist isn t a true villain, it is her novel that is eventually going to kill Harold
Crick. The movie plays a different view on a classic protagonist against antagonist
scenario. Instead of a typical one sided characters you can see that while Karren
Eiffel is the antagonist by no means is her intent to harm Harold Crick but only
that to write her novel. There is a part in the movie in which Harold is fixing his
watch and the narrator, Karren Eiffel, reveals that this moment will lead to his death.
With Harold now realizing he is going to dies causes a conflict that is that of a
The Rank Of Eagle Scout Essay
Achievement is a very important thing for many reasons. Our achievements are
what define us and give us purpose. Achievement helps determine just how far we
are willing to go to achieve goals and to make ourselves successful. I have worked
for many achievements, in my lifetime, and I have many things that I am proud of.
However, out of all of my achievements, I would say that my greatest achievement,
was earning the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America.
The rank of Eagle Scout is not something that is easily achieved. Many people have
struggled to obtain the rank and have failed. However, many of America s most
influential figures have won the rank of Eagle Scout. Neil Armstrong, Hank
Aaron, and Rick Perry are just a few well known figures who have obtained the
rank of Eagle Scout. To add the rank s prestige and importance, those who do
receive the rank make up a very small portion of the Boy Scouts who join the
program.
When I was seven years old, I remember seeing boys from the school s Cub Scouts
program walking through the hallway. Dawned in dark blue uniforms, with orange
neckties, and many colorful badges, these scouts stunned me by the unity and
patriotic spirit that they showed. That evening, I went home from school and ran to
the kitchen table where my father was sitting. I explained to him that I wanted to join
scouting. He smiled at me and quickly took me to the local Boy Scouts headquarters,
where I was signed up for a pack as it was called.
Endocrine System Essay
The Endocrine System
The function of the endocrine system is to regulate the body functions by the use of
hormones. The structure of the endocrine system is therefore the structure and
location of all the main endocrine glands. The pituitary gland, thyroid, pancreas,
adrenal glands, and the sex glands (testes) are some of the more important ones, but
there are several others. The glands secrete hormones directly in to the blood, which
act as messengers. The nature of messenger which is released by the gland, once it
has recognised the stimulus is chemical. The messenger is transported in the blood
stream, and its speed is relatively slow. The messenger then travels to its target cells,
and its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The electrical messenger is transmitted through the nerve cells; this process is a lot
faster than the endocrine system, which enables the response to be that much faster
as well. Another noticeable difference in the two systems is in the type of receptors,
in the endocrine system the type of receptors is cells, while in the nervous system
there are various types of receptors including heat, pressure. As in the endocrine
system, the effects of the messenger generally takes a long time, in the nervous
system the effect is immediate. And the response is also very localised sometimes
directed at just one muscle.
As I mentioned earlier, in the endocrine system, the function of the endocrine system
is to regulate the body functions by the use of hormones. There are two types of
hormones. Steroid hormones and Amino acid based hormones. Steroid hormones are
produced by the Adrenal Cortex, the Ovaries, and the Testes. Steroid hormones don t
have to bind with the plasma membrane receptors of the target cells; they enter freely.
Within the cytoplasm, a steroid hormone can bind with a receptor protein; it will then
enter the cell nucleus and bind with the DNA, where it will trigger changes in the
chromosomes. The Hormone Receptor unit attaches to the DNA, this attachment
activates certain genes in that cell, causing particular proteins to be produced. Some
Dependent Personality Disorder Research Paper
Dependent Personality Disorder
And How it can Affect your Daily Life
Everyone has personality traits. Some people are shy while others are outgoing and
some people are optimistic and some are pessimistic. Sometimes it is hard to tell the
difference between a personality trait and a disorder. Personality disordersare
diagnosed when ways of seeing, interpreting, or behaving in the world become
inflexible and maladaptive. A personality disordercauses distress to self or others. A
person with a personality disorder has trouble perceiving and relating to situations and
to people. This causes significant problems and limitations in relationships, social
encounters, work and school (Personality 2015).
Cluster A personality disorders are characterized by odd, eccentric thinking or
behavior. Paranoid personality disorder would fit under Cluster A. Cluster B is the
wild cluster. People with these disorders have very dramatic, emotional or erratic
behaviors. Cluster C personality disorders are characterized by anxious, fearful
thinking or behavior. This cluster includes dependent personality disorder
(Personality 2015).
Dependent personality disorder (DPD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed
personality disorders. The terrifying fear of being left alone and being abandoned
are both signs of DPD. When faced with this disorder you really cling to other
people, usually a significant other. You get self satisfaction by being wanted by
another person. Fourteen percent of people with personality disorders are diagnosed
with DPD (Ekern 2013).
The causes of dependent personality disorder to this day are unknown. Both
biological and developmental factors are most likely involved (Dependent 2015).
There are multiple speculations as to why people obtain this disorder like
overprotective parenting. Also, one s social environment can play a role in DPD. In
all most all cases the patient experiencing DPD has faced some sort of abuse or
trauma, making them stick to another person (Ekern
How Did Polanyi Impact The Economy
Two times world wars in the previous century have made a huge impact on every
field, triggering the development of economics at full swing. Some ideas that
intended to overcome the old theory and explain the shock were born at this time;
for instance, view of Macroeconomics by Keynes and new thoughts by Hayek. Karl
Polanyi (1986 1964) concentrated in this research indicated the new perspective
with regard to present and future world. The huge impact made Polanyi write his
main work in 1944, The Great Transformation (hereafter TGT). His first work
inquires into the cause of World War and Great Depressionfrom comprehensive view
such as a transformation of civilization with launching as the phrase nineteenth
century civilization has collapsed (Polanyi 1944, p.3). According to him, the
nineteenth century civilization fated the collapse, that is twentieth century s two
In wide meaning, economic history includes anthropology for him, so the
economic history was the bud of Polanyi s anthropological study. He acquired
fame as an anthropologist, because he stressed anthropological analysis after TGT;
for instance, Trade and Markets in the Early Empires (1957), Dahomey and Slave
Trade (1966), Primitive, Archaic, and Modern Economics (1968), and Livelihood of
Man (1977) . All of these are about anthropology and he got a famous as
Anthropologist. However, these works did not mean that his interest really shifted to
anthropology, from modern social economic issues (Pearson 1977) . The turn is just
surface and pretended. Indeed, although his anthropological works were brilliant, his
estimation as an anthropologist has become weaker and weaker today; in other
words, more researchers consider Polanyi as a social scientist. Then, how was his
theory of international relations
Analysis Of The Movie Cycles
Our film, Cycles, is a comedy/drama about a student who witnesses two men
getting rid of a body on his way home at night. When they notice him, he steals a
bike and escapes and struggles with a haunting paranoia of the two gangsters
finding and killing him. The film ends when the doorbell rings suddenly and he
reluctantly opens it expecting to see the men. Instead he sees a girl who wants her
bike back after he stole it. He returns and bike and turns around relieved, only to be
clobbered by the two men who had been waiting for him after all. They go to
dispose of his body, but a woman sees them and the film ends with them looking at
her, implying that the story loops on itself.
In the 19th century, Gustav Freytag notice a similarity in plays and books and created
a diagram to demonstrate this, which consists of 5 milestones in the story:
1. Exposition/Introduction: This is where the main characters (and some supporting)
are introduced and we get a look into their regular lives before their journey begins.
This is also where we see some minor conflict which could build into the main goal.
2. Rising Action: This is where the character s mission is made clear and they begin
their journey. Obstacles are introduced to prevent the protagonists achieving their
goals.
3. Climax: The rising action continues building drama until the biggest obstacle lies
before the characters, sometimes confronting an antagonist, which they may or may
not overcome.
4. Falling Action: Things become clearer and the characters, depending on if came
out on top during the climax, are either closing in to their goal or feel their furthest
away from it. To create suspense, this is normally where a twist would come in, a
successful protagonist could find out their friend was working against them the
whole time, or a failed hero discovers something new that gives them another chance.
5. Conclusion: This is where we see the characters triumph or fail and the following
consequences. We might see them return to normality or see the backlash after failing
their task. This normally gives the audience a sense of closure and
Analysis Of Delta Air Lines
Delta Air Lines is a global airline, one of the largest worldwide. According to
SkyTeam (2009), a worldwide alliance management team of ten members, the
founding member Delta serves about 928 destinations in about 174 countries; with
approximately 455 million customers annually and offers 15,955 plus daily
In this paper, we will venture into the globalization of Delta Air Lines and understand
if they are just a global corporation or if they carry a worldly mind set as a strategic
management strategy. Gosling Mintzberg (2003) paraphrase T.S. Eliot s famous
words should we not explore ceasingly in order to return home and know the place
portrayed through a Fresco media with dimensions of 73 x 94 Вј . It was painted in
1931 and is on display in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Looking at this artwork
brings a mood of sadness. Five men, four horses, burning villages, and sandy hills
occupy the scene. The focal point of the painting appears to be a slave being cut
It is suggested through the use of curved lines and light. 4. Space Perspective is
demonstrated in many ways. This artwork takes up almost the whole canvas. The
horses on the edge look like they were maybe even squeezed in. All of the
characters in this artwork look to be congregated to the middle of the painting,
besides the villages in the distance. Linear perspective is used in the placement of
the villages in the background and in all the men and horses, which are grouped in
the middle of the screen. Looking at the features in the painting I notice the use of
overlapping and vertical placement, which both imply depth. The horses overlap
each other as well as the gentlemen and other elements of the painting. The brown
horse s head overlaps the black one hiding its mouth. The villages and hills in the
background appear to be very far away (diminishing size); they look smaller and
distant from the rest of the main aspects of the painting. 5. Time and Motion The
element of time is somewhat apparent in which the painting depicts events that
happened during the daytime because of the lighting and brightness used in the
painting. The red and black colors incorporated in the smoke and fire from the
villages implement a sense of time, because although there is smoke and fire the
buildings are still in solid form, not destroyed, symbolizing that the fire may not have
been burning for very long. When dealing with the element of motion I automatically
Comparing Bartleby, The Scrivener And The Overcoat
In both Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Nikolai Gogol s The
Overcoat, the reader is given insight about the different workings society has on two
copyists. Both, Akaky and Bartleby make a living off copying papers, and can be
considered as the heros of their stories. Though, both of their mannerisms are out of
place and foolish in their given society; the authors display different settings,
character arcs, and motivations to showcase the slow burn psychological and physical
effects society has on the protagonist. Even though Bartleby s passive nature in a
capitalist dominant economy leads him to his death, Akaky stumbling upon
materialism in a classist Russia can be ascertained to have been deadlier than
passiveness. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly to Bartleby, in The Overcoat, Akaky Akakievich is a copyist who went
about his work mindlessly. Gogol depicts Akaky as an outlier among his peers, and
deemed to be the only clerk who served his job with love (313). The author portrays
Akaky as an aloof fellow, who has no idea about his surrounding for he is always
focused on his writings (Gogol 313). When the Russian s worst enemy, winter,
arrives; his overcoat is too old and broken down to protect him from the cold
weather. His current overcoat is ridiculed and mockingly called a peignoir by his
fellow clerks (Gogol 315). The arc shifts when his tailor, Petrovich, makes him a
new overcoat from cheap material that resembles the ones worn by the rich (Gogol
320). The coat heightens how Akaky viewed himself, and how his peers view him.
However, he is robbed of his coat on the way home from his Chief Assistant Clerk s
party (Gogol 323). In the latter part of his character arc, he valued the search of his
overcoat more than his livelihood. He decides to search for the overcoat with the
help of higher officials. After failed attempts with different people, he tries his luck
with the Very Important Person who put the nail to the coffin in Akaky s life but not
The English language has grown to become one of the world s most learned
country values English differently. Some countries view English as a key to
academic success; others view it as a means for social growth and prosperity.
Languages in Taiwan can be divided into three categories: the mother tongues, the
official language, and languages for wider communication. The official language of
Taiwan is Mandarin, while English is the most popular language to be utilized for
wider communication. That is not to say that English is the sole language for wider
communication, it just happens to be the most widely use language for wider
communication. The English language has infected the world like a virulent plague,
infecting populations with notions that the English language will lead to prosperity
due to the success of the British colonial empire and the subsequent rise of
American economic and technological hegemony. In order to take part in the
ideological and economic success of these English speaking countries, smaller
countries like Taiwan formed aggressive policies to begin teaching their youth the
English language. English is viewed as a key in Taiwan, a key that opens up the
door to knowledge and opportunities that would have otherwise been inaccessible
due to language. The primacy of English in the world is understood by participants
as [...] something to be pursued and obtained [...and embraced] for its connotations of
status and development, both for the individual [...] and the nation. Huang reveals
that a major portion of the Taiwanese population believe English is a gateway for not
only individuals but also for the country as a whole.
Crime And Effective Punishment Essay
Crime and Effective Punishment
Stone walls do not a prison make, / [N]or iron bars a cage. Richard Lovelace (Quiller)
As time flows, and calendar pages flip, the world evolves and changes. With time,
crime changes. With the change of crime, punishments should change as well. The
twenty first century has seen the birth of mass multimedia in which our every action
and interaction is seen by all; it has made all the world a stage. Today s world stage
has created image conscientious actors who base their entire self esteem off of the
comments of their peers. Despite the large public spotlight that can be instantly
brought glaringly down upon these actors, they still commit crimes and say things
they shouldn t, for even they cannot defeat the ineffable dark aspects of human
nature. For media mongers, the worst punishment is not a stint in jail or wergild to
pay, but rather it is being embarrassed in front of their peers. So although, many
people believe public shaming to be a cruel and unusual punishment, it is actually a
very effective way to reprimand a person in today s image conscious world stage. Far
back in the mythical times (before the advent of social networking and the constant
updates that flood from our phones into our clogged informational neurons) public
shaming was being used as an effective punishment (Stade). This is Nathaniel
Hawthorne s topic of choice in his book the Scarlet Letter. Hawthorne s main
Properties and Formation of Sulfur Oxides
Instructor: Dr. D. Miller Background Information
Sulfur is capable of forming two common oxides, SO2 and SO3. One question that
we might ask is whether the direct reaction between sulfur and oxygen leads to the
formation of SO2, SO3, or a mixture of the two. This question has practical
significance because SO3 can go onto react with water to form sulfuric acid, H2SO4,
which is produced industrially on a very large scale. Consider also that the answer to
this question may depend on the relative amount of each element that is present and
the temperature at which the reaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In concentrations above 25% of air by volume, oxygen renders many organic
compounds highly flammable. Oxygen is required by most living organisms for
cellular respiration as well as for most forms of combustion. It is very commonly
used in the steel industry and to create a large number of chemicals. In the form of
ozone (O3), it forms a thin layer around the earth, protecting it from the ultraviolet
radiation of the sun. (Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility Office of
Science Education, n.d.) When oxygen is reacted with acetylene (C2H2), the reaction
produces a tremendously hot flame used for welding. (Royal Society of Chemistry,
n.d.)
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is one of the products of the reaction between sulfur and
oxygen. At room temperature, it is a colorless gas that has the odor of burnt
matches. Sulfur dioxide mixes with atmospheric water vapor and is a key
component of acid rain. (Thompson, 2003) It is the third most common gas
produced during volcanic eruptions, behind water vapor (H2O) and carbon dioxide
(CO2). (U.S. Geological Survey, 2010) In large volcanic eruptions, sulfur dioxide is
converted to sulfuric acid and forms fine sulfate aerosols. These aerosols reflect the
sun s radiation back into space and result in in cooling of the earth s surface below
them. (U.S. Geological Survey,
The Merits Of Liberal And Realist Arguments
The Merits of Liberal and Realist Arguments: Explaining the decisions of all major
states to sign the 2015 Paris Agreement to address climate change and global
warming Liberalism and Realism can very well go together (Seliger). In fact, they
would both support the Paris Agreement from last year. For different reason of
course, but the fact remains that these two very polar ideals would both show
support nonetheless. Both ideals have changed over the years but their
fundamental philosophies were born hundreds of years ago by philosophical
thinkers such as John Locke and Thomas Hobbes. They birthed the ideals of liberal
and realistic thinking respectively. For simplicity sake, from this point forward the
liberal point of view will be referred to as John s perspective, in honor of John
Locke whilst the realist point of view will be referred to as Thomas s perspective,
in honor of Thomas Hobbes. December 12th, 2015 was a historic moment on a
global scale. That date marked the conclusion of the Paris climate agreement which
accumulated the approval of hundreds of countries including many major ones.
The main goal of this agreement was to drastically reduce carbon emissions and
slow the average world temperature. Specifically, by 2020, they idea was to keep
global average temperature to well below 2В°C above preindustrial levels (Diane).
Currently, we are not doing too well to achieve that goal. As prominent scientist
Essay about Native Sovereignty
July 11th 1990, marked the beginning date of the Oka Crisis in Quebec Canada. It
lasted until September 26th 1990 resulting in one fatality of a local police officer.
The violent clash was triggered by something as simple as a golf course extension and
as complicated as native burial traditions. It had drawn world attention, catapulting
native land rights into the mix. The Oka Crisis is just one of many conflicts between
the Aboriginals and the Canadian government. A major issue that has been of much
debate in the 20th century has been Native sovereignty. The demand sounds simple,
allow Aboriginals of Canadato govern themselves; however, coexisting with the
Canadian government makes this idea extremely complicated. Roger Townshend
Townshend describes how Aboriginals view the Canadian government as a foreign
government. Furthermore, Townshend disputes the process of assimilation,
integrating Aboriginals to the modern Canadian society. The solution is to create a
third tier government that would work in cohesion with the Federal and Provincial
levels. Different levels of government and the ...sharing of jurisdictional powers
between government institutions is already part of the essence of the Canadian state,
(Townshend 39). If Canada is able to increase globalization and trade agreements on
an international level, than Canada should not be so unwilling to share jurisdiction
with an Aboriginal government.
Thomas Flanagan disapproves the idea of Native sovereignty ever coexisting with
Canadian sovereignty. Flanagan identifies the flaws in Townshend s arguments
referring to them as a theoretical approach and not a practical approach. It is true
that the sharing of jurisdictional power is the essence of the Canadian state but this
cannot apply to the Aboriginals of Canada. One reason a third level of government
cannot work in Canada is In the 10 provinces, Canada has over six hundred Indian
bands living on more than 2200 reserves, plus hundreds of thousands of MГ©tis and
non status Indians who do not possess reserves, (Flanagan 44). Flanagan draws the
that a gun could have saved someone. For example, college student Amanda Collins
had a concealed carry license, but she was not allowed to take her gunwith her to
college; she was brutally raped inside a parking garage, less than one hundred feet
from campus authorities (102). Rape is a very heinous and horrific crime, and any
sane person would want to reduce the possibility of that crime occurring. Through
Beck s use of pathos, Beck incites anger and concern in his target readers and
encourages them to strongly oppose gun control.Control is a book that definitely
has its strengths. One strength is that Beck includes a section in the title page of
the book that contains the book s researchers and contributors. Beck also mentions
in Author s Note that he and his staff watched countless hours of cable news and
read hundreds of newspaper columns and articles (1 2). Plagiarism is a major
problem in today s literary world; by not taking sole credit for all the information
obtain, Beck helps to lessen this problem. The major strength of the book, however,
is the massive amount of content that Beck provides. This vast array of knowledge
adequately supports many of Beck s points and the Notes section adequately supports
Why Do We Need Censorship In Schools
There is a book out there that talks about a topic that you do not agree with. While
you may find the book offensive, others may find it inspiring or a reflection of their
life. These varying points of view are what often lead to people calling for a ban of a
certain book in a school or public library. This brings to light a topic that impacts all
of us in one way or another, censorshipin the form of book bans. This leads to a topic
that can be the center of debate for many, whether or not we should allow the
censorship of books, or other forms of media, in our libraries. And by censoring
books, we are referring to taking them off of the shelves. Of course, many people
have strong opinions on this. Coincidentally, I also have an opinion. My opinion is
that we should not censor books, while making you understand why the idea of
censorship in our school and public libraries goes against the fundamental values and
freedoms that we hold dearly as citizens of the United States.... Show more content on
For example, some people can find certain works offensive, usually due to reasons
such as language, violence, sexual content, or the lifestyles portrayed in the pages.
However, I would like to point out that if someone does not agree with something,
or if they find it offensive, they can exercise their freedom of choice and choose
not to read the book. It should not be up to a portion of the public to decide what is
acceptable for others. If we start denying this freedom of choice as it related to
books that are available in our libraries, what will the next step in denying our
freedom of choice? If one stops to think of why we love to live in the United States,
freedom has to be at the top of this
Light Rail In Houston Essay
The light rail, also knows as the Metrorail, is an easy way to access many attractions
in the metropolitan area of Houston. Attractions like the museums, medical center,
Downtown, and stadiums. However, it still goes through neighborhoods. The rail is
mainly located in Downtown Houston, but extends to norther part of Houston to the
south side of Houston. It also extends itself towards the University of Houstoninto the
third ward area, but it main route starts from Airline on the northern part of Houston
all the way to Fannin, in the southern side of Houston. The main use of the rail is it
transportation for those who do not have a vehicle and cannot get to important
location like the courts located in downtown, or main hospitals who are also located
downtown as well. For this community investigation we were asked to do a scavenger
Nevertheless, these metro transportations have a time on their own, and if you do
not arrive on time it will leave you behind and must wait till the next on. For those
students who depend on this transportation, this is crucial because metros do run on
their schedule and cannot wait on no one because they have to keep going. As a
teacher I am going to have to understand these type of situations for students.
Students may arrive late to class, or for those students who live far have to spend
most of their afternoon trying to arrive have, and not having enough time to do
homework. Another issue that can come in between if days were teachers must talk
to parents. If parents do not have no other transportation, then the metro they have to
go through the same struggle. It also because a huge struggle if the parents has
infants with them. These transportations are very hard to handle with younger
children making sure everyone is on and get off at the same
over the past several years. At first, the author reviews the moral and economic
foundations, then argues that the sweatshops are flawed, which are the violation of
labor right. The author addresses the question of sweatshops are justified in violating
local labor laws. Then the author pointed out that the global market competitions are
the fundamental reason for growing sweatshops. Finally, the author provides some
recent literature, which applies to the ban exploitation of sweatshop labor and offers
advice on modifying the behavior of sweatshops. In this article, the framework is
very clear. The author mainly expounds the sweatshops are flawed and against the
used others opinions to assess the issue and gave the recommendations. The evidence
is believable because the authors of this article are the professor of economics and
History And History Of Math
History of Math in Egypt Did you know that Egyptian hieroglyphs used over 700
different picture symbols? Those symbols were used for various things including
recording official texts. Every symbol meant a different thing and only scribes
could write hieroglyphs since most Egyptians were illiterate. The Egyptians used
hieroglyphs in math by having symbols for numbers. Examples of this would
include having a coil of rope for a hundred and a lotus plant for a thousand. The
Egyptians knew various types of math including quadratic and linear equations,
multiplication and division as well as being able to measure area, volume, distance,
length, and weight. This applies to modern math because in today s math we use
skills such as quadratic and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Egyptians used base ten, and could measure volume, length, distance, and
weight (Lesko 135 44). The first well known mathematical papyrus is the Rhind
Papyrus. The scribe Ahmes wrote it around 1650 BC; it was later purchased and
named after Alexander Henry Rhind (McIntyre, Leighton; The Editors of
Encyclopædia Britannica). The Rhind Papyrus has 87 math problems; many of
them using multiplication and division. For instance, the first six problems on the
papyrus ask how to divide bread between ten men (McIntyre, Leighton). The
second well known papyrus is the Moscow Papyrus. The Moscow Papyrus was first
owned by Vladmir Galenidenov and is now in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine
Arts in Russia. It is 18 feet long and its width varies between 1 ВЅ to 3 inches wide.
Twenty five problems are written on the papyrus and these were translated by
Egyptologist Vasily Vasilievich Struve. These problems use algebra as well as
geometry (Gardener). The Egyptians used and created many forms of math that we
still use today. Their advancements in both writing forms and mathematics help
people today in more ways than they could have imagined. Also, numerous things
were discovered when Jean François Champollion in 1822 translated hieroglyphs
for the first time (Lesko 135 44). Lastly, we no longer write in picture symbols that
few people can decipher and still use a base ten counting system. Math in Egypt and
Collective Remembrance Essay
The relatively new historical branch of collective remembrance, when applied to the
collective memories of Britain and the Soviet Union, reveals much more disparity
than resemblance in the way these two nations remembered, and still remember, the
Second World War. The collective remembrance of Britain is different from that of
Russiabecause while the Soviet Unionutilized similar styles of ceremony and
commemoration as Britain did to promote a continued remembrance of the war, the
Soviet Union was unique in the silence of the unspoken grief of millions that lay in
more than the war itself, but in a history of repression and abuse at the hands of the
state. Britain, on the other hand, dealt with the memory of the war by making it front
and center in a new narrative of British patriotism. While both countries created
myths about the war... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Catherine Merridale points out, Those affected come from generations who
knew little or nothing of large scale suffering at first hand, but whose lives were
marked by the silences and undiscussed distinctiveness of their parents. The Soviet
state was, for a time, adept at devising patriotic ceremonial commemorations of
WWII. While these did present a more edited version of reality, it is not necessarily
to say that they were inherently false. Britain, on the other hand, got caught in its
own enthusiasm to present the war s history, and in doing so created a different
history that changed Britain from the elitist imperial power to the egalitarian nation
who defeated the Nazis. While historians continue to work diligently to reveal an
accurate picture of Britain during the war, the national myth continues to play a
strong role in Britain s sense of identity. Even today, movies continue to be made
portraying Britain s heroic role during World War II. In both cases, more must be
done to represent the past with a greater degree of
Elizabethan Era Clothing
Fashion is a big part of many people s lives, but it is constantly changing and
growing. In the Elizabethan time fashion was very different than it is today. For
example trends and materials used have changed. The colors people wore told a lot
about who they were, unlike today. Some parts of fashion have stayed pretty constant
throughout the years. For example today and then there are known designers around
the world. Also fashion still impacts lives greatly. So when looking at fashion
throughout the years it is evident that materials, trends, color usage, designers, and
the impact on society has greatly changed and is still changing. Everyone has a
favorite color, everyone also knows what colors look better on them compared to
others. Many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Queen Elizabeth was one of the biggest impacts on fashion in that time. She was
mostly the one who set the trends. She also determined the laws about fashion.
Many times people would just copy what she would wear. She impacted both
women and men s clothing. Naturally, what the Queen wore greatly influenced
those close to her, her ladies in waiting wore her old dresses; other women strove to
imitate the style of the Queen and her ladies (Leed). In the Elizabeth Era the
designs and trends came from Queen Elizabeth. Many people looked up to her as a
role model for fashion and considered her the image of
Essay On Constructing A Tour
After viewing the presentation by Martin Atkins, I ve taken away many aspects
and topics that would potentially be of use when constructing a tour. Some of my
favorite topics presented include the importance of finding your fans before the
touring process and knowing where to play in order to be successful. Atkins even
agrees, in some cases, with the idea that it might be in your best interest to play a
lot of shows consistently in a selected city/area where you have already established
a following before moving cities and having those shows turn out to be a bust. He
points out the importance of creating a community with your fans and I especially
like the idea that a band must find interest in all their fans and followers before they
Some other insightful ideas presented in the workshop include the flower petal
theory and the idea of creating an alliance with other bands who are starting out
and who you share the stage with each show. The flower petal theory explains that
once you find a city that is working for your band, find a nearby city with growing
interest in your band and establish your presence there. Once that location is
established, branch out again and repeat the process. Eventually you will have
multiple petals of cities that connect and that you can keep coming back to and
finding success creating a flower like shape on a map. As your band becomes
bigger and more successful, the flower will grow, spreading out over a larger
portion of the map. I find this theory to be both efficient and sensitive to your
budget because you are somewhat restrained to a certain portion on the map and
you will not waste resources and money traveling to a place that won t work out,
and you will consistently bring in a following each night at your shows. While the
idea of creating an alliance with other bands you share the stage with might seem like
common sense, the outcome it can have on your band often gets undervalued and
underappreciated. If you do something as simple as exchange thoughts or comment
with each other on social media, each band s following is networking with one
another and you soon form a bond with the other band s fans, which will in turn
expand your fan base without much work being
Beck Manufacturing Company Capacity And Proficiency
Beck Manufacturing Company Capacity and Proficiency
The Beck Manufacturing Company currently has five operational work stations, in
which they produce steering gears for many auto manufacturers. Operation work
stations in place are for milling, grinding, boring, drilling and assembly of parts.
Within those operational departments the company must determine the organization
capacity inputs and outputs to satisfy their customer demands. Capacity is a
corporation s ability to deliver consumers goods, products or services in the volume
needed within the time period allotted. To accomplish these obligation organizations
will need to procure a physical location, working capital, skilled employees, and raw
material for accomplishing the anticipated level of productions in order to meet the
consumers demand. In business capacity planning is vital for the organization
sustainability in an economical business environment, Vonderembse, White (2013),
notes that substantial capital is generally required to build a facilities and for the
procurement of equipment to build capacity. (ch. 8.1). For example if a
manufacturers cannot deliver the required quantity of goods to a vendor on time due
to a shortage of inventory, then and there to buyer may find another vendor and the
business relationship can be severed.
But then again, the company does not want to have excess products sitting in
inventory and capacity without the demand from the consumers. Therefore, before
Persuasive Essay On Digital Technology
Humans rely heavily on the omnipresence and ease of the digital world without
realizing it. There is reliance on instant communication with others, quick answers to
questions, desired advice from other users, global news updates, and so much more.
Consumers learned to rely on the Internet and media to form their political views and
make their shopping decisions through news sites, blog posts, and advertisements
(Hess 2014 p. 1). Additionally, when a person is unsure of an answer to a simple
question or cannot recall information, they immediately consult the Internet instead
of exercising their memory. Although it may be a stretch, technology is replacing the
human mind in a sense. The rhetorically biased flow of social media, website designs,
television programs, and news sources is structured in a way that interrupts individual
thoughtby predicting what the consumer may be thinking next and drawing the
consumer s attention to the distracting advertisements, hyperlinks, or other
suggestions. The power of suggestion is strong; it detracts from personal thought
processes as consumers follow suggested hyperlinks or follow suggested friends on
social media sites. The purpose of advertisements and hyperlinks are to draw our
attention and inspire deliberate action from the users. The rhetoricis successful when
Internet users click on hyperlinks planted based on previous searches or click on
advertisements influenced by current shopping cart items, pervious online purchases,
Human Capital Accumulation And Reducing Inequality
Outcomes in health, education and wellbeing are fundamentally connected to
building human capital accumulation and reducing inequality. However, the previous
examination of Bolsa Familia has shown there is no significant improvement in
indicators of nutrition, growth, anaemia and cognitive development among the
recipients of Bolsa Familia. Thus, to assure CCT programmes will contribute to
eventual outcomes of human capital accumulationrequires an extension of CCT
programs towards the quality of provision in social services, particularly those which
oversee the education and wellbeing of beneficiaries. The context of development has
significant effects on the outcomes of social development. Environmental
vulnerability, gender biases and geographical isolation could have significant impacts
on the outcomes of programmes. Thus, to build eventual outcomes in human capital
accumulation requires acknowledging social safety nets emerge from a particular
framework which may undermine the long term human development outcomes.
Acknowledging the framework from which CCTs emerge may help partially
overcome the barriers and constraints to human capital accumulation by situating
human development in the wider social, political and institutional context.
The emphasis on data and data collection emphasizes a thin approach to human
development. As I have shown, the emphasis on data collection may encourage the
presentation of statistics which demonstrate economic performance with less
Bullying: School and Home
Childhood should be carefree, Playing in the sun, not living a nightmare in the
get away with one more day. The child in the corner who won t look at anyone
scared to death if they do, he will be hit or his or her stuff destroyed. The child that
is yelled at home because they did not do the right thing their parents thought they
should do. These are the children that are victims or become the aggressor. Bullying
is a serious issue that is taken over our school systems. If you watch the news,
listen to the news bullying is always mentioned. The issue has gotten out of
control. Children are committing suicide and killing others over this issue. Some
say it s a home issue. Your right but where does it begin and end? Bullying is a
subject we have pushed on the back burner and then brought back to the front.
Children are being bullied not only physically and mentally we have now added
into the mix cyber bullying. This matter should be taken very serious and needs to
be addressed not only at school but at home. Parenting is a serious part of correcting
this matter and parents need to be educated as well as students. A parent has just as
much of a role in preventing this situation as a teacher or administrator. Children need
to feel safe in school and have the
a damaging effect on one s life through a foil between Jane and Bertha. Initially
Jane was worth nothing while on the other hand, Bertha was initially rich,
established herself, somewhat, and Bertha went crazy . Jane was isolated as a
child physically and mentally. Jane was locked in the red room for over a night.
Mentally she was isolated because as a child she lived with people from a different
social class than her own. Bertha was insane because she had been locked in a room
for fifteen years. Damaging effects came from this. Bertha Mason bit a man, caught
the house on fire, and
Eugen Sandow is generally accepted as the first modern bodybuilder. He performed
feats of strength and displayed his body in the late 1800s. As a result of his
Others soon began to admire and emulate him. Most of these bodybuilders, mostly
men, performed at exhibitions and for circuses. As more individuals participated in
bodybuilding, gyms and weight rooms appeared. Standard exercises began to
Cameras in the Courtroom
In the electronic world that we live in, every aspect of life can be broadcast across
the country in seconds. This aspect is even more realistic when cameras are front
and center in American courtrooms. Each morning and afternoon we turn on the
television, reality television takes over and civil lawsuits or divorces are being
Mathis Show or Divorce Court. Many people, young and old, are exposed to these
reality shows believing what they see is the real criminal justice system at ... Show
The proponents of cameras in the courtroom also believe that televised trials would
educate the public on courtroom procedure and rules of the court. The media
believes that as the viewers watch real trials on television, they would become
more aware of the rules of the court and they would become more aware of the
basic procedures courts have to follow. An example of how cameras in the
courtroom would educate the public would be the all famous O.J. Simpson trial.
The O.J. Simpson trial educated the public on rules of evidence with the bloody
glove display, the cross examination of key witnesses with the examination of Mark
Furman, and what role the judge plays in the process. The media believes that if
cameras where not allowed inside O.J. Simpson trial, then the public for the most
part would still not understand the true workings of the court system.
Kimberlianne Podlas note that televised trials will educate the public by giving
them a reference for what the court system is, its fairness, and who the arbiters of
justice are (Podlas, 2001). Podlas also explains that the O.J. Simpson trial lead more
people to watch and gain a understanding and respect for the judicial system as well
as gaining knowledge of the legal concepts and burdens of the system (Podlas, 2001).
Just like the arguments made for cameras in the courtroom and the jury deliberation
room by the media, the courtroom working group which
A Brief Note On The Canadian Tax Law
Under Canadian Tax Law, there is an election for companies to defer recaptures and
capital gains of property that was involuntarily or voluntarily disposed of. In this
businesses so that they are not subject to pay taxes on capital gains or recaptures
until such a time where they may acquire an eligible replacement property that will
help them earn business income. We will provide facts, definitions, and examples to
illustrate the use of this election throughout the paper by explaining the capital cost
JFCS Term Paper Introduction Providing care for a family member can cause a tremendous strain for the primary caregiver in many areas of his/her life including financial, physical, and psychological which often results in both increased emotional needs and physical complications for the caregiver (Eun Jeong Lee, DeDios, Fong, Simonette Lee, 2013). As disabled older adults live longer lives, there is now an increasing need to rely on others to assist them with their day to day activities and activities of daily living (ADL), and that role often falls upon the spouses of the impaired or close family members (Barbosa, Figueirdo, Sousa Demain, 2010). Research data provided by the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) estimated that there were approximately 44 million caregivers age 18 and over, with one third of those caregivers being male, whom were providing care to adults age 50 and above (National Alliance for Caregiving, 2015). The acquisition cost Verizon $130 billion, but the gains increase Verizon s possibilities into the future. Analysis Of The Nutcracker The fifth and final 2017 Colorado Springs Philharmonic and Oklahoma City Ballet performance of The Nutcracker took place on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Pikes Peak Center. This rendition featured Conductor Thomas Wilson, Oklahoma City Ballet Artistic Director Robert Mills, the Colorado Springs Children s Chorale, and numerous student dancers from the Pikes Peak Region. Through the excellence in the music, dancing, and stage and costume design, this holiday Nutcracker performance not only captured the spirit of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovskys music but also conveyed the Christmas spirit as well. The Nutcracker is a fairytale, two act ballet that is centered around the Stahlbaum family s Christmas Eve celebration. The plot of this ballet was an adaption by Alexandre PГЁre of a story by E.T.A. Workplace pressure Several authors, Van der Lippe (2207), Mishra (2011), Shivaprasad (2013) write that workplace pressure is an unavoidable factor of living and working in the contemporary world. A reasonable amount of pressure at an acceptable level will have the tendency to keep workers alert, motivated and willing to learn. However, there are times when the pressure may become too much and this may lead to stress. According to Chrousos (2009) and Shivaprasad (2013) the emotion of stress is often a harmful response to the demands of the activity of nursing and the nurse s own emotional capability. The environments in which mental health nurses are employed inevitably generate intensity and a diversity of stressors related to the nature of the consumers being treated. Ward (2011) writes that at times the consumer may become unpredictable and aggressive which in itself creates a hostile environment. Laal and Alirmaie (2010), write that stress related disorders do occur among all nurses but particularly among mental health nurses at all levels but particularly those on the front line (Ward, 2011). If this stress is uncompensated it may lead to depersonalization and when combined with other uncompensated emotions may progress to the syndrome known as burnout. The concept of burnout Adams, Boscarino Figley, (2006) and Wilkins (2007) write that providing care can both be highly rewarding and yet highly stressful with the result at times being an adverse outcome
Throughout the entire week, I was working on my assignments for school and I was also working on the day care centre. Today is my wedding day so I also had to get my wedding dress and man; I was so busy in the week days. I am kind of glad that our wedding is on the weekend. I got out of the bed and went to the washroom and got freshened. I came out of the washroom and heard the door knock. Juni, I got your wedding dress. Open the door. I heard sis say. I sighed and opened the door, finding sis looking excited and she was holding my wedding dress. Even though, I went with her to choose the wedding dress, I really didn t pay any attention when sis was choosing my wedding dress. I mean, we are only getting married because of the twins and I never even wanted to get married. So, why would I have any interest in choosing my wedding dress? I let sis come in my room and she hugged me and then pushed me in the washroom, giving me my wedding dress. Juni, get dress so that we can do your make up. Sis said. I sighed and wore my wedding dress that was silver and it was a mermaid wedding dress style. After a couple of hours . . . Don t open your eyes yet, I heard my makeup artist say. She was doing my eye make up, while some other hair dresser was doing my hair. Now, slowly open your eyes. My makeup artist said. I opened my eyes and looked at the mirror they placed in front of me and I couldn t believe my eyes. I was wearing a simple mermaid silver wedding dress, a bit of make up and my long hair was tied in a simple bun. I was wearing a silver necklace and a pair of long silver earrings. I am really happy for you. I m happy that you are getting married but I always thought of you as my own sister. I will be so lonely without you in this house. I will miss you. Sis said as she hugged me. I will miss you too. I said as I hugged her back. Big brother came in the room with Clara and hugged me and kissed my forehead. My
In the different religions, many practices resemble but have different names attached to them based on the people, their location, and their religious teachings they follow. Such practices include the Lord s Supper as referred by most Protestant churches while the Catholics refer the same as the Eucharist. Over the past couple of years, nutritional status has been deemed to be of real importance in a variety of morbid conditions such as dementia, heart disease and cancer in persons over the age of sixty five. Despite the fact that malnutrition in the elderly does not have a uniformly accepted definition, abnormal body mass index (BMI) and involuntary weight loss are some of the common indicators. As it happens, health practitioners find it hard to diagnose weight loss as a symptom of malnutrition in elderly patients due to the fact that loss of weight is also part of the physiology of aging. Generally, elderly patients are challenged with the effects of aging, protein under nutrition, weight loss, cognitive impairment as well as other vascular risk factors that threaten their health status. The liberals are also strongly against laws such as Arizona s SB 1070 and believe that such laws only encourage racial profiling and are unconstitutional. Democrats (who are generally more liberal) believe that a comprehensive immigration reform is essential to fixing our broken immigration system. If a proper reform is put in place, it will help to continue the tradition of innovation that immigrants have brought to the American economy, and held to ensure a level playing field for American workers. President Obama has recently stepped in to try and create a solution. In November 2014, President Obama announced executive action offering deportation relief for up to five million undocumented immigrants who are contributing to their communities. In the 19th century, Gustav Freytag notice a similarity in plays and books and created a diagram to demonstrate this, which consists of 5 milestones in the story: 1. This is also where we see some minor conflict which could build into the main goal. 2. Rising Action: This is where the character s mission is made clear and they begin their journey. Obstacles are introduced to prevent the protagonists achieving their goals. 3. Climax: The rising action continues building drama until the biggest obstacle lies before the characters, sometimes confronting an antagonist, which they may or may not overcome. 4. Falling Action: Things become clearer and the characters, depending on if came out on top during the climax, are either closing in to their goal or feel their furthest away from it. To create suspense, this is normally where a twist would come in, a successful protagonist could find out their friend was working against them the whole time, or a failed hero discovers something new that gives them another chance. 5. Conclusion: This is where we see the characters triumph or fail and the following consequences. We might see them return to normality or see the backlash after failing their task. It was painted in 1931 and is on display in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Looking at this artwork brings a mood of sadness. Five men, four horses, burning villages, and sandy hills occupy the scene. The focal point of the painting appears to be a slave being cut down and freed form a wooden post. The horses on the edge look like they were maybe even squeezed in. All of the characters in this artwork look to be congregated to the middle of the painting, besides the villages in the distance. Linear perspective is used in the placement of the villages in the background and in all the men and horses, which are grouped in the middle of the screen. Looking at the features in the painting I notice the use of overlapping and vertical placement, which both imply depth. The horses overlap each other as well as the gentlemen and other elements of the painting. The brown horse s head overlaps the black one hiding its mouth. The villages and hills in the background appear to be very far away (diminishing size); they look smaller and distant from the rest of the main aspects of the painting. 5. Time and Motion The element of time is somewhat apparent in which the painting depicts events that happened during the daytime because of the lighting and brightness used in the painting. The red and black colors incorporated in the smoke and fire from the villages implement a sense of time, because although there is smoke and fire the buildings are still in solid form, not destroyed, symbolizing that the fire may not have been burning for very long. When dealing with the element of motion I automatically begin to think
Richard Lovelace (Quiller) As time flows, and calendar pages flip, the world evolves and changes. With time, crime changes. With the change of crime, punishments should change as well. The twenty first century has seen the birth of mass multimedia in which our every action and interaction is seen by all; it has made all the world a stage. Today s world stage has created image conscientious actors who base their entire self esteem off of the comments of their peers. Despite the large public spotlight that can be instantly brought glaringly down upon these actors, they still commit crimes and say things they shouldn t, for even they cannot defeat the ineffable dark aspects of human nature. For media mongers, the worst punishment is not a stint in jail or wergild to pay, but rather it is being embarrassed in front of their peers. So although, many people believe public shaming to be a cruel and unusual punishment, it is actually a very effective way to reprimand a person in today s image conscious world stage. Far back in the mythical times (before the advent of social networking and the constant updates that flood from our phones into our clogged informational neurons) public shaming was being used as an effective punishment (Stade). One question that we might ask is whether the direct reaction between sulfur and oxygen leads to the formation of SO2, SO3, or a mixture of the two. This question has practical significance because SO3 can go onto react with water to form sulfuric acid, H2SO4, which is produced industrially on a very large scale. Oxygen is required by most living organisms for cellular respiration as well as for most forms of combustion. It is very commonly used in the steel industry and to create a large number of chemicals. In the form of ozone (O3), it forms a thin layer around the earth, protecting it from the ultraviolet radiation of the sun. (Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility Office of Science Education, n.d.) When oxygen is reacted with acetylene (C2H2), the reaction produces a tremendously hot flame used for welding. (Royal Society of Chemistry, n.d.) Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is one of the products of the reaction between sulfur and oxygen. At room temperature, it is a colorless gas that has the odor of burnt matches. Sulfur dioxide mixes with atmospheric water vapor and is a key component of acid rain. (Thompson, 2003) It is the third most common gas produced during volcanic eruptions, behind water vapor (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Capacity is a corporation s ability to deliver consumers goods, products or services in the volume needed within the time period allotted. To accomplish these obligation organizations will need to procure a physical location, working capital, skilled employees, and raw material for accomplishing the anticipated level of productions in order to meet the consumers demand.   • 49. Persuasive Essay On Digital Technology Humans rely heavily on the omnipresence and ease of the digital world without realizing it. There is reliance on instant communication with others, quick answers to questions, desired advice from other users, global news updates, and so much more. Consumers learned to rely on the Internet and media to form their political views and make their shopping decisions through news sites, blog posts, and advertisements (Hess 2014 p. 1). Additionally, when a person is unsure of an answer to a simple question or cannot recall information, they immediately consult the Internet instead of exercising their memory. Although it may be a stretch, technology is replacing the human mind in a sense. The rhetorically biased flow of social media, website designs, television programs, and news sources is structured in a way that interrupts individual thoughtby predicting what the consumer may be thinking next and drawing the consumer s attention to the distracting advertisements, hyperlinks, or other suggestions. The power of suggestion is strong; it detracts from personal thought processes as consumers follow suggested hyperlinks or follow suggested friends on social media sites. The purpose of advertisements and hyperlinks are to draw our attention and inspire deliberate action from the users. The rhetoricis successful when Internet users click on hyperlinks planted based on previous searches or click on advertisements influenced by current shopping cart items, pervious online purchases, or
However, the previous examination of Bolsa Familia has shown there is no significant improvement in indicators of nutrition, growth, anaemia and cognitive development among the recipients of Bolsa Familia. Thus, to assure CCT programmes will contribute to eventual outcomes of human capital accumulationrequires an extension of CCT programs towards the quality of provision in social services, particularly those which oversee the education and wellbeing of beneficiaries. The context of development has significant effects on the outcomes of social development. Environmental vulnerability, gender biases and geographical isolation could have significant impacts on the outcomes of programmes. Thus, to build eventual outcomes in human capital accumulation requires acknowledging social safety nets emerge from a particular framework which may undermine the long term human development outcomes. Acknowledging the framework from which CCTs emerge may help partially overcome the barriers and constraints to human capital accumulation by situating human development in the wider social, political and institutional context. The emphasis on data and data collection emphasizes a thin approach to human development. As I have shown, the emphasis on data collection may encourage the presentation of statistics which demonstrate economic performance with less
The media believes that as the viewers watch real trials on television, they would become more aware of the rules of the court and they would become more aware of the basic procedures courts have to follow. An example of how cameras in the courtroom would educate the public would be the all famous O.J. Simpson trial. The O.J. Simpson trial educated the public on rules of evidence with the bloody glove display, the cross examination of key witnesses with the examination of Mark Furman, and what role the judge plays in the process. The media believes that if cameras where not allowed inside O.J. Simpson trial, then the public for the most part would still not understand the true workings of the court system.
