Why Esports Become A College Sport
Esports are College Sport Material.
If those reading don t know what Esports are than they are video games that can be played with
multiple people and require skill and effort to win against another team of talented players. Some
people believe esports are not actually sports due to the fact they have no physical attributes, like
many other sports out there. The thing is that these games do require effort and skills, It s just
not the same ones for regular sports. There are even some Esports in specific colleges that have
their own competitive teams. Then for other colleges they believe that because they can t see the
skills and benefits of having Esports teams. Some people believe that Esports should become a
more recognised college sport. Jeff Ruby, chicagomag.com, Chicago Magazine article, December

Extensible Business Reporting Language ( Xml )
Extensible Business Reporting Language, otherwise referred to as XBRL is a standard
introduced, and is now used worldwide. XBRL is based on Extensible Markup Language (XML),
a widely accepted technological standard that defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a
format that both humans and machines can read. (Rashty, 2013). Its main purpose is to improve
the way business reporting is presented to the public, by making reports more accurate and
efficient. It is managed by a non for profit organization called XBRL International, and acts in the
best interests of the public. XBRL is being adopted worldwide due to its digital accuracy, and
effectiveness. It is mandatory in the United States and the United Kingdom, however in... Show

This is because XBRL enables companies to save time on having to re key information. The system
works by an item having a certain XBRL tag that it can be identified by. This information can then
be read directly by numerous other applications, and consequently will not have to be re keyed into
that application, eliminating potential errors and reducing the time that would have otherwise been
needed to extract the information from financial statements that are filed before transferring to
another application for analysis. (Today, 2008). XBRL will now increase the efficiency of
accountants and auditors who are required to complete comparisons to different industry averages,
as XBRL will complete this automatically. Not only that, but information can be stored and
produced in a manner, such that analytical reviews and analysis can be performed much more
easily. (Today, 2008). The implementation of XBRL for companies will save both time and
money, both of which are crucial in the success of a company and business. These changes are
present in both Westpac and ANZ s financial statements. For example, Westpac s 2009 financial
statement showed loan capital as being represented under 4 different heading titles, whereas with
the introduction of XBRL loan capital in 2014 was these 4 headings incorporated into one figure
listed as the loan capital.

Jay Gatz Vs The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is known to have religious symbolism embedded in the text, from God figures
to Deism and Christianity. Fitzgerald brings light to Gatsby s humanity and God figure by
creating two versions of him in the text: Gatz and Gatsby. However, which version is real, and
which is a failed manifestation of the other? It is evident in the text that the real version, or person,
is in fact James Gatz. Jay Gatsbyis only a gilded version of James Gatz, created by the mind of a
seventeen year old. Through his gildedness, he has managed to destroy his life and build his
riches from unsavory people in the hopes of obtaining the magic of his past life. James Gatz was
simply trying to be someone who he really wasn t on the inside, which ultimately led him to his
death. To... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fitzgerald relates Gatsby to a son of a God doing His Father s business, or the son of his past self
doing his business. New money is the best description for Jay Gatsby, being rash, ostentatious,
and flamboyant with his riches and power. His house, Rolls Royce, and extreme parties all
reflect his character and his motives to gain the love of Daisy once again. It is ironic that Gatsby
changed his entire life, however he thinks that everything can return to the way it was in the
past, more specifically the relationship between Daisy and Gatsby. Their love for each other is
now tainted on both sides, one because Daisy also loves Tom, and that Gatsby does not truly love
Daisy anymore. He loves the idea of Daisy and the memories they have had together, almost
envisioning her as a perfect being. This translates to an unhealthy lust for Daisy from Gatsby,
which changes, and eventually ends, their relationship. One can also point observe that Jay
Gatsby, as a public figure, is gilded. The mask that Gatsby puts on in public hides the source of his
riches, which are of dishonorable and corrupt

Here s to the Crazy One: Kanye West
Kanye Omari West, an Atlanta born Chicago raised rapper, producer, fashion designer,
entrepreneur has been in the public eye since the beginning of his career and for all the wrong
reasons at that. Whether it is for calling out the former U.S. President George Bush over the
Hurricane Katrina crisis or interrupting Taylor Swift s award acceptance speech in front of the
world. He has been called crazy, egotistic, brash and outlandish, yet he has managed to win hearts

class upbringing. Tim m West, an educator and performance artist, recollects his thoughts about

early years in music many questioned Kanye and his credibility to be a rapper . He did not fit

what Hip Hop/Rap genre used to be. It was still the hard truth about growing up in a middle class

The Collapse Of Enron And Enron
Two organizations that will live on in infamy in the business world are World Com and Enron.
These names are synonymous with the largest corporate scandals in US history. Their failure to live
by ethical and moral codes resulted in bankruptcy, large financial losses to employees and
shareholders as well criminal penalties. Additionally, these deviations from ethical behavior from
several related parties shined a light on the accounting profession and resulted in several changes in
the industry that would strengthen ethical standards and make the accounting industry more
reliable. Below is an analysis of the Enronand WorldCom downfalls, with a focus on the ethical and
regulatory issues surrounding each organization.

The business world was amazed with how well the company was doing and its innovative business
practices. They were even recognized by Fortune Magazine as The Most Innovative Company in
America. Over the next several years, Enron grew and their stock significantly outperformed market
expectations. This resulted in extreme pressures to maintain this success and ultimately resulted in
the downfall and bankruptcy of Enron in 2001.
The accounting scandal committed by Enron is somewhat complex and involves many serious
problems, but at a very high level, it stemmed from a few key areas, relating to improper financial
reporting and internal and external audit issues. The major financial reporting issues of Enron relate
to the accounting treatment of and Special Purpose Entities (SPEs) and Volumetric Production
Payments (VPPs).
Special purpose entities are companies that are created to help the main company manage risk.
This type of entity should be created by outside investors, who are independent of the main

made multiple deals that were not considered arm s length transactions, including some where
employees of Enron were managers of the SPE s. Some of the deals would not be favorable to the

What would you do if the one thing you enjoyed the most in the world became your career? You

musicians. This group of five teenagers started off as a regular high school band, and their
successes as ended as they changed the future of pop culture. Each band has their own story to tell
of their group s origin and their successes.
Let s be real. When you start to admire someone, you usually want to know about them. Their
history, accomplishments, and their dirty deeds matter to you. For instance, Brian Wilson, leader of
the group, stated that he and his brothers had a pretty great childhood, except for their father

first two surfing songs, which hit the charts and scored them a record deal with Capitol Records.
(Kemp) Their hit single Good Vibrations and the album Pet Sounds joined the other two songs
on the charts. These four are generally known as the band s greatest hits. In the late 60 s Brian
Wilson suffered from a nervous breakdown and stopped touring. He claimed that everything he
was doing for the group was too much. (The Orchard) When he was gone he experimented with
sounds and harmonies, which later became more of the backgrounds of their popular songs.
(Kemp) The Beach Boys started to fall, so they flew to Europe to perform for the first time. In
both the United States and in Europe many people described them as teenage symphonies to God.
Later in that decade the band was joined by many other artists such as Blondie Chaplin, Ricky
Fataar, and Bruce Johnston. (The Orchard) The successes and prosperities of The Beach Boys will

Zayed- Man Who Built A Nation
As a matter of fact, I have chosen a book titled Zayed Man Who Built A Nation . because I am
attracted by its title. The book that includes 734 pages, covered all details about the life of late
Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. I always influenced by the president of Emirates Arab
behavior the founding father of the EAU, and those who have escorted him throughout his long life.
The book comprises the challenges that Sheikh Zayed confronted since 1971 until his death in
2004. My interest is to illustrate the exclusive accomplishments of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al
Nahyana Bedouin who lived in the desert and a leader of his people and for the good of the world.
The book of Zayed: Man Who Built a Nation was written by Graeme H. Wilson. (2013).
In the first place, the book mentioned that Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was born in 1912
on the poor isolated and largely ignored Trucial Coast. He was the youngest of the four sons, his
father. As a member of the ruling class, his childhood could be considered to be relatively
privileged, but it was also one scarred by the difficulties of the era. The tragic death of his father,
regional economic collapse and difficult political conditions meant that it was a hard, uncertain life.
Sheikh Zayed emerged through this with a reputation as a leader of note. While his brother, Sheikh
Shakhbout, was Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed served as the Wali of Al Ain, a period in which
he revived the economy of the area and became famous

Assisted Suicide Should Be Legal
What is assisted suicide? By definition, assisted suicide is suicide committed with the assistance of
another person, usually a physician. This definition has changed slightly from the past. Assisted
suicide used to be defined more as when a terminally ill patient would be assisted in their death by
a doctor or physician. To some, it is a way to end the pain and suffering of a terminally ill loved
one. To others, assisted suicide is considered killing people without giving them a chance.
People also believe that assisted suicide, euthanasia, and hospice care are all the same thing.
Assisted suicide is a worldwide controversy and has been for many years. Questions of morals
and ethics come into play heavily when discussing whether assisted suicide should be legal or
not. Assisted suicide is legal in only five states in the United States. Oregon being the first of
those states, legalized assisted suicide back in the 1990s. Canada on the other hand, only has
assisted suicide legalized in one Province. That province is Quebec and their definition of
assisted suicide leans closer to being euthanasia which causes more controversy to whether
assisted suicide should be legal in Canada. Other countries have a much more strict outlook on the
issue. There are many positive uses for what is called assisted suicide that can help alleviate
people s pain and suffering in a beneficial way to the patient and family; however with assisted
suicide comes the negative factors when ethics

James Truslow Adams s Definition Of The American Dream
In the vibrant and prosperous 1950s, Americans began to become optimistic after World War II.
This is when the American Dream truly became alive in the United States of America. With money
in their pockets, the country had newfound hope to make their lives better. In James Truslow
Adams s definition of the American Dream, life should be be better and richer and fuller for
everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement regardless of social class
or circumstances of birth. This very definition captures the American Dream that had came alive in
the 1950s. His definition encompasses the American Dream, because it demonstrates the fulfilling
life that everyone wanted, the hard work that was needed to accomplish this dream, and the idea
that anyone could achieve their goals in life despite who they were and where they were born....

Dream inspired others to make their life better and richer and fuller just like James Truslow Adams
said. Because they wanted a better and more fulfilling life, people were in a pursuit for increased
prosperity and opportunity and were determined to achieve greater things in life. In their pursuit,
these dreamers were on the road to success and triumph in what they wanted most out of their lives.

Meghann Riepenhoff Research Papers
This past Friday, I attended an art exhibition at the Memphis College of Art where I saw great
paintings from Meghann Riepenhoff, along with Tim Andrews. The show consisted of both their
paintings in separate sections, they were the only two artist. Personally, I d say the show
combined did not have a theme, but as separate it did. When I first stepped in the building, I was
welcomed by greeters, the event coordinator and Riepenhoff s paintings. Her painting s made me
think the overall event theme was about the beach and waves, but that was not the case. While I
continued walking and observing the painting s I was greeted into Mr. Andrews s exhibit, which
consisted of self portraits. Both artisthaving paintings placed in the same space didn t take away

Viewing the paintings, it seem to me very realistic, as if I were actually standing in front of an

them the realistic effect, despite the use of the cyanotype chemicals working with nature
combined. Each work of art presented by her was processed and completed in Bainbridge Island,
Washington area. Although I deeply enjoyed all of her unique art, my favorite cyanotype piece
is Littoral Drift #275 . What I most loved about this particular piece was the fact that it was a
more so closer, deeper view into the wave. The sides of the landscape were both dark whereas
toward the center it was all type of blue shades coming together and the splat of white making it
one great wave cyanotype. As I finished viewing her section of art work, the meaning I took from
it work is simple, nature especially the beach is beautiful with great force. In terms of symbolism, I
strongly believe Andrews s painting had a lot of

The Effects of Social Isolation in the Invisible Man by...
Social Isolation, a state or process in which persons, groups, or cultures lose or do not have
communication or cooperation with one another, often resulting in open conflict. In H.G Wells
1897 novel The Invisible Man, the main character, Griffin, is socially isolated due to a condition
that has forced him to stay out of the scrutinizing eye of society .As the novel progresses, the
effects of social isolation begin to take form in Griffin s actions and become more pertinent with
each event that occurs. These actions show the effects of social isolation throughout the course of
the novel.
The beginning of Griffin s social isolation begins early in his life. Griffin is albino, meaning that
he has little to no pigmentation in his skin, eyes, and hair. This condition makes it exceptionally
challenging for Griffin to be a cohesive member of society, so in order to avoid the eminent
rejection that he believes awaits him if he tries to join society, he chooses to become an
introvert. The expression a fish out of water reminds us that every animal is adapted to a habitat
(Pinker 374). Griffin does not have a habitat to adapt to because he lives outside of society and
has no one to help him adapt. At this point Griffin is able to be diagnosed with a form of social
loneliness due to his feelings of being an outcast (Gelinas 4). After Griffin is isolated from society
for a short period of time, his anger starts to progress into something that even he cannot control. As

Creationism vs. Evolutionism in Public Schools
Debate: Creationism vs. Evolution in Schools: 1st Affirmative Constructive Speech
Creationism and Evolutionism by definition are very different topics. Currently, evolutionary
naturalism is the most widely taught view of origins in America. In schools in the modern day, only
evolutionism is taught and condoned. But before the 1920s, only creationism was taught, and
evolution was forbidden. Then, on February 20, 2008, the Florida State Board of Education voted to
revise the public school guidelines to require teachers to teach only Evolutionism. The law was
passed with a very narrow 4 to 3 vote in favor of the law. Our resolution (affirmative side) is to
teach both the theories of evolution and creationism side by side. This would ... Show more content

An additional chink in the system is that the theory of evolution has many gaps that need to be
filled by something like the theory of creation. While evolution may be the dominating theory in
Florida school boards, it does not provide some answers to several areas that Creationism may
actually answer, such as how the first organism, Earth, or the entire Universe came to be. On the
other hand, Creationism has equally as many holes that can be filled by the Evolutionary Theory
such as how all the species of the earth became what they are now. Creationism and Evolutionism
are not that different. In 1969, when American astronauts first stood on the moon, they read from
the bible. Men of science and technology, reading from the Book of Genesis. This is an example of
how an individual can believe in evolution and other scientific theories and still have faith.
Our plan to resolve these harms is this: the state of Florida should teach Creationism and
Evolution side by side. Each theory would be taught sequentially and would have its own chapter
of discussion. Teaching both, side by side, in the same class would provide a fair and equal
opportunity of religion, education and choice. It would give the youth an opportunity to learn and

The Vinland Map
Abstract: In the mid nineteen sixties, the Vinland map was found. It was renowned because it
demonstrated that the recorded reality that Columbus was the person who found America. In
reality Vikings were the ones who found America. The Vikings were fishermen and ranchers
who ended up being warriors who originated from Scandinavia; they lived from the year 793
until 1066. [Hassan, 2013] What is the evidence suggesting that the map might be authentic?
Greenland was discovered upper east of North America on the Vinland map, and it was
particularly pointed by indicating and exact to modern day maps of Greenland. In the mid
1990s, from the base of the map, a little example was cut for carbon 14 dating. After a long time,
the results were accounted for, and the example was dated in the year 1425. In 1965,
archeologists discovered correct confirmation that the Vikings arrived 500 years before
Columbus. They found the old Viking settlement in Newfoundland. What is the evidence
suggesting whether the map is fake or not? Some of the examples to show if the map is fake or
not are as follows: The Ink examination which was done in 1966 when a meeting took place
between the handwriting authorities. The reasons why the English show lobby had rejected

Compare And Contrast Culture And American Culture
Culture is a very vital part of the world as we know it today. There are very many different cultures
all around the world. In the USA, we have a mix of all the different cultures and and family values.
From the original Native Americans that inhabited America to the Middle Eastern people in
Afghanistan. These people groups have brought their language, food, values, and customs with
them.
There are lots of different types of families in today s American society. Mine is a little bit weird.
My parents got divorced when I was about 5 years old. My Dad re married when I was about 8 and
then got divorced again. My mom remarried when I was around 11 years old. My dad re married
again around the same time. It seems like in today s society that more and more families are
becoming split households. That is the culture difference between the USA and other countries. In
the earlier years of the United States, many people looked down on divorce. Divorce was like a
curse word to them back then.

ABSTRACT
Water sources are susceptible to bacterial contamination from animal and human pollution sources.

Articles Of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation was the formal charter of the government of the United States that
was the first binding document outlining its independence from Great Britain. As tensions grew
between the United States and Great Britain, a war was inevitable with the people of America
growing tired of the British rule and wanting independence, the Revolutionary War was the next
step in trying to free itself from British tyranny. The Articles of Confederationwas fully ratified in
1781 after the Revolutionary War and seemed to be more interested in stability rather than liberty.

Air Pollution
4.4. DATAThe US air emission data employed in this study is obtained from the US
Environmental Protection Agency s national emission inventory (USEPA 2006; 2009), covering
all anthropogenic emissions of six air pollutants (SO2, PM2.5, PM10, NOx, VOC, and NH3) in
the 48 states of the US (excluding Alaska and Hawaii). The gross external damage (GED) is
estimated by Muller et al. (2011). The 2002 industry level GEDs are identified by a six digit
industry code from the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). In total, there are
about 840 NAICS industries included. To account for transferred values of goods and services
through trade, we employ Input Output Accounts (make and use tables) data from the US Bureau

In order to link emissions and damages to the IO data, we match industries in six digit NAICS
code to industries in six digit IO code, and it is no problem for most cases. However, there are
two exceptional cases. One exceptional case is that for 20 IO industries, we cannot find the
matched NAICS industries. That is, there is no information on damages in the 20 IO industries.
Thus, in the baseline model, we leave damages in the 20 industries equal to zero. Another
exceptional case is that with regard to the agricultural industries and construction industries,
damage data are in a more aggregated level. Therefore, disaggregating GEDs are necessary with
respect to those industries. In the baseline model we allocate GEDs in agricultural and
construction industries proportionally to value added. The procedures to handle these two
exceptional cases are explained in Appendix B. Furthermore, sensitivity analyses are carried out
in Section 4.6 to assess changes of results if different approaches are used to handle these issues.
For the simplicity of results presentation and results discussion, we further aggregate the
estimated results into 42 sectors according to the IO code. Hereafter, we refer to the 6 digit IO
industries as industries , and refer to the 42 aggregated IO sectors as sectors . In addition,
according to the sectoral characteristic, the 42 sectors can be allocated into three broad aggregates:

Car Vs SUV Essay
Technology has brought many luxuries to people. The invention of the automobile has brought
convenience to everyday living. People use their vehicles to commute to work, school, home, and
other events. Some people cannot even imagine living life without the use of an automobile. People
have different tastes in the type of automobile that they drive; the automotive industryhas made
several different ways to commute. The car and the sports utilityvehicle seem to be the most
common types. The sports utility vehicle is inferior to the car.

In addition, the stopping distance is longer considering the weight factor of the vehicle. Both these
issues make this automobile very dangerous to the driver, passengers, other motorist, pedestrians,
and small furry animals. On the other hand, the lower center of gravity that the car has to offer
makes this vehicle less likely to roll over. There is also a shorter stopping distance for the car
considering the weight of the car is much lighter.
Sports utility vehicles take up more room compared to the car. There have been several infamous
people with sports utility vehicles who park in the compact parking spaces specifically designed
for compact cars. Other notorious sport utility drivers have been spotted taking up two parking
spaces. These enormous machines make it difficult for other conventional people to get in and out
of their automobiles. Conversely, cars take up less space to park. This allows more people to park
in the area.
Sports utility vehicles block the vision of the cars behind them. This does not allow drivers in
the cars to be able to look ahead of the road. This can be very dangerous. For example, an owner
of a sports utility vehicle is driving on the high way. When all of a sudden, an endangered
chimpanzee pops out on to the road. The sports utility vehicle swerves out the way avoiding it.
Nevertheless, the driver of the car was not able to see ahead of

World War I and the Home Front Essay
America s involvement in World War I not only impacted the war front but also the people left on
the home front. When America entered World War I in 1917 the government enforced many
measures on its citizens, many of which violated constitutional rights. The biggest measure inflicted
on the American population was censorship. The formation of the Committee on Public
Information (CPI) and the passing of the Espionage Act and Sedition Amendment stole American s
freedom of speech, created an anti German sentiment, and led to deportation during the post war
Red Scare.

Americans became afraid of and disdainful towards anything German. Affairs associated with
Germans or Germany ceased such as German bands, German courses in schools, and renaming
German associated words such as German measles to liberty measles. Many German Americans
felt loyal to America but still had ties to Germany. With intolerance towards all things German,
German Americans became cautious and discreet in their speech and actions. Ambassador James
W. Gerard warned, but now that we are in the war there are only two sides, and the time has come
when every citizen must declare himself American or traitor!
Government censorship continued with the passing of the Espionage Act in 1917 and the Sedition
Amendment in 1918. The Espionage Act and Sedition Amendment condemned any antiwar activity
or desecrating of the government, Constitution, flag, or military. The American public could not
have an opinion, unless that opinion supported the war and government. Even Wilson stated, Woe

the novel is when the team reaches their goal of making their way to the summit on May 10,

Understanding Diversity
For my leadership rubric I choose diversity. Understanding the diversity of a group is essential to
creating a productive organization. Each person brings a history, culture, and a set of beliefs that
shaped them into who they are now. These differences should be celebrated, because differences
are what help organizations accomplish positive change. The way I approach leading is heavily
focused on how I treat my followers. This is why I focus on understandinghow each one is unique.

I grew up not being as exposed to the world of diversity. This is why I decided on level three,
questioning and self exploration. At this point I am aware of all the information that I lack on
certain subjects. Because of this revelation I actively search out information about race, religion,
sexual orientation, gender spectrum and general opinions over commonly discussed issues. I
believe that in this globalized world people do need to become more aware of the differences in
people in order to embrace humanity as a whole. The next step to becoming more culturally aware
is to continue to gather more information. On the other hand Garrett was more generous and
decided that I am in level five, validation of diversity. He believes that I already have enough
understanding of different beliefs and practices. He describes how I take other people into
consideration when working with and talking to others. I appreciate his insight into how he views
my knowledge of cultural awareness. Before I am willing to agree with Garrett I know that there is
more information to know. I will agree with Socrates when he says One thing I know is that I know

Historical Development of Law Enforcement Essays
Since 27 B.C. law enforcement has been used by humans as a means to defend property and keep
peace. Law enforcement has been changing ever since it was created. It will keep changing for the
greater good of the community as long is there is a continual need for law enforcement.
According to REAL POLICE. (N.D.) Para 5, the first organized police force was created by the
great nephew of Julius Caesar, Gaius Octavius in 27 B.C. These men were called Vigiles. The
Vigiles were armed with wooden clubs and small swords. They were formed to perform two
duties, fight fires in the city and arrest law breakers. The prefect of the Vigiles became a powerful
man. He had the ability to judge and sentence lawbreakers.

Research by Schmalleger (2005) shows that in 1829, the world s first modern police force was
formed. Sir Robert Peel selected 1,000 men to wear a uniform and patrol the streets. These
uniformed men were called Bobbies. The new police were founded on two principles, one, belief
that it was possible to discourage crime, and two, practice of preventive patrol. To this day, Bobbies
still patrol the streets of England.
Law enforcement was almost non existent in the American West during the late 1800 s and early
1900 s. Outlaws ruled the land with few worries about law enforcement. Only the bravest men
would attempt to police the west. Some of these brave men were self appointed law men, men like
Charles Lynch, a former Virginia farmer, and Wyatt Earp. These brave men were called Vigilantes
and they tracked down criminals in the west. With out them the west would have been to violent for
the expansion of the country. Schmalleger (2005).

How Computers Are Essential in Criminal Justice Field
how computers are essential in criminal justice field
Computers take part in a big role in the Criminal Justice Field. So far computers have allowed us
to make it accessible for witnesses to go through and look for a suspect s picture on the screen.
Computers have enabled us to be able to do DNA testing. Which now only takes the labs a short
time to process, and finding criminals from cases 15+ years ago can now be charged for their

Little Ships During The Operation Dynamo
The role played by the Little Ships during the Operation Dynamo has been heavily mythicized by
contemporary accounts of Dunkirk. For instance, a heading in The Times from June 4, 1940
referred to the civilian vessels at Dunkirk as a Magnificent Spirit . Furthermore, the column noted
how Fishermen, yachtsmen, yacht builders, yacht clubs, river boatmen responded in Britain s time
of need and how the civilian sailors manned their craft with volunteer crews and rushed them to the
assembly point . Similarly, another piece from The Times helped illustrate a sense of mass,
spontaneous civilian participation by making reference to how the only complaints people had
about volunteering their vessels Dunkirkcame from boat owners who could not get themselves
onboard in time to go to their boats . Newspapers publishing articles such as the two noted above
helped form the public conception of the Little Ships as a mass armada of selfless volunteers
who helped rescue countless Allied troops and delivered them to British coastal ports. The
pinnacle of this fantasifull narrative was Paul Gallico s short story, The Snow Goose, published in
The Saturday Evening Post. Within said novella, the protagonist narrates a romanticized rendition
of the Little Ship story where every tug and fishing boat or power launch that could propel itself
was heading across the Channel ... to rescue as many as possible from the German fire . The main
driving force behind the British Admiralty s decision to

the appearance of happiness and carefree living, but appearances can be deceiving! Students

A Report On The River Discharge Essay
The Apalachicola River discharge was about an order or two higher in a wet season (March 23
25, 2015) than in a dry season (November 2 4, 2015) (Figure 8a 8b). Furthermore, the river
discharge increased progressively in March, whereas it altered a little in November except after
November 4, 2015. The predicted tidal heights showed relatively similar micro tidal
environment in both surveys; however the ebb tidal periods were much stronger in March than
in November (Figure 8c 8d). Weak to average winds (2.85 В± 0.97 ms 1 in March and 2.29 В±
1.68 ms 1 in November) were observed during the field measurements. Nonetheless, sustained
periods of cold northerly winds in March and warm southerly winds in November could have
affected the field and satellite measurements at some stations, e.g., by sediment re suspension and
wavy sea state (black boxes, Figure 8e 8f). Tidal forcing was likely the major factor to control the
diurnal variation in salinity and water level in both the seasons (Figure 8c 8d). Moreover, moderate
winds could have affected salinity and water level above the tidal height either by pushing river
water towards the bay or by introducing shelf water into the bay (e.g. black boxes in Figure 8)
(Huang et al. 2002a; Huang et al. 2002b). Dry Bar and Cat Point salinity stations were located
close to river mouth (Figure 1); however, they showed considerable variations in salinity during

Every ninety eight seconds an American is sexually assaulted; by the end of this paper, multiple
people will have been hurt. Someone may find themselves asking why these things happen, and
how can they stop it? The problem exists deep within society, and societal change can take a
lifetime if not multiple lifetimes. That means this nation will have to take on every single
instance of these vile crimes one at a time, which is no small feat considering it occurs in the
millions in this country alone. It s a hard subject to understand as both a man, and a subject I can
only see from the outside in. To come up with a solution to end the problem is something far
beyond the reach of my skills in deduction and ability to create tools to prevent these things from
happening. That means I can only deliver these three points as to how we should react. Firstly,
everyone needs to listen, then we must teach men, and finally create or adapt a system for proper
legal recourse. This battle will be long, but one should be hopeful because humankind s
compassion is inherent, born with the capacity to love exponentially, it is only a problem when
we remove that from the equation. To begin, victims need to be heard, and it really is as simple as

The Ethics Of The Accounting Profession
Ethics in all forms is concerned with the good and bad, right and wrong in a situation. (Duska)
In life you will be placed in a situation where you have to make a choice. These situations are not
always black and white, in other words they do not have a clear answer. You will not know what
your reaction would be in any given situation until you are there and have to make the decision.
This is present in both our personal and professional lives. However, if you always follow the
guidelines set by God and treat all as you wish to be treated then more than likely you will make
a fair and impartial decision when necessary. The accounting profession is based on the honesty,
integrity, and word of those in this profession. That is truly who they are in the eyes of the
public and with this comes great responsibility to all those involved. We will be evaluating two
ethical systems in this paper and deciding which would be the most appropriate for the
accounting profession. The first ethical view that we will discuss is Deontology. Deontology
came from the writings of Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher. Deontology is defined as a
view that is based on what is fair over the consequences of the actions. Deontologists believe that
there are ethical guidelines that are universally applicable to all people. The actions should be
ethical even if the consequences are not favorable and should be based on rational thought. This
view is follows a line of professional

The Fighter Movie Analysis
The Fighter (2010) directed by David O Russell is a captivating and passionate sports drama.
The film was easily able to portray the journey that the Eklund Ward family took on Micky s
road to success in a realistic way which made it easy for me to understand and develop emotions
towards the film and the characters in it. It was an exceptional watch which captured my full
attention. The film made me realise there is always a struggle with success. I saw and experience
this while watching the film and I am able to take this new found awareness with me into the real
world when the film is over. The performance of the characters and the realistic portrayal of drugs
in this film are major aspects that make this film so beguiling.
In the film the main character Micky Ward is a very promising boxer. Being a boxer is a family
thing, his mother, Alice Ward, is his manager and his stepbrother brother, Dicky Eklund, is his
trainer. Dicky is unreliable and Alice is very resilient. The two were very controlling over Micky
and feel they have some sense of supremacy of him. However, even though Micky is working
hard to try and make the best of his situation, he keeps getting blows that knock him down. They
come in from the left, the right and all other directions, the hits that he receives seem to be the
consequences of having Dicky and Alice as part of team. Despite this and his latest fight being
unsuccessful, Micky still gets back in the ring.

The Colonies Of The United States Essay
In the 1607, the Virginia Company sent three ships over to America in search of finding gold and

After the land had failed to produce gold or silver, the Virginia Company began to sell the land for

Britain began to colonize in the present day United States of America by creating the Thirteen
Colonies. The colonies, which can be divided into three separate regions: Northern, Middle, and
Southern, have been formed by different groups of people who have helped to shape the region
which they belong to. Colonist came over in search of many opportunities. Opportunities to find
new jobs and religious freedom gave the colonist hope while travelling across the Atlantic. The
cultural blend that made up the colonies led to different colonies to form amongst them. The
geographical characteristics of the colonial regions helped shape what the colony is most beneficial
for. The northern colonies consist of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New

the spread deadly diseases from infecting the people.

Microfracture Procedure
Background and purpose:
Repetitive overhead athletic activities and age can increase risk for shoulder pathologies to arise.
The microfracture procedure has been used more recently for chondral defects of the glenoid and
humeral head. There is very limited research on the rehabilitation following the microfracture
procedure, and even less in conjunction with other pathological surgical repairs. The purpose of
this case report is to provide details on the rehabilitation of a recreational athlete who underwent a
type II SLAP repair with a microfracture of the central humeral head and glenoid.
Case Description:
The patient was a 41 year old male who failed conservative treatment of a SLAP tear and full
thickness glenoid and humeral head articular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The incidence of injury was calculated to occur every 3.1 of 1000 hours trained.1
In 1990 the acronym SLAP lesion (Superior Labral Anterior and Posterior) was coined by Synder et
al, a shoulder pathology previously made known after arthroscopically identified by Andrews et al
in 1985. 2,3 The prevalence of SLAP lesions in recreational athletic and athletic populations
ranges from 3.9 % 11.8%. 4 Kim, et al noted out of 544 shoulders arthroscopically evaluated, 25%
were diagnosed with a SLAP lesion, and 88%, about 120 subjects, presented with another
pathology.6
A more recent surgical procedure, called a microfracture technique, has become more supported at
the shoulder. 7 At the hip, McCarthy et al found 74% of patients with a labral pathology also had
chondral lesions.18 The microfracture procedure is a technique that pierces subchondral bone to
initiate the body s natural response to injury. Through this, a pathway for cell migration to the
chondral defect is formed where a clot will then become a stable scar of fibrocartilage and
hyaline.19,8 This cartilaginous mixture can be seen as a disadvantage due to less mechanically
stable fibrocartilage, making this scar mixture possibly more prone to future

Classification Essay Dogs
Most Canadian adventures will inevitably take you through bear country. Knowing how to avoid a
bear attack is the best way to keep safe in the great outdoors.
There s different advice to follow when dealing with the three types of bears in Canada (black,
grizzly polar bear) but most people quickly forget them when they actually encounter a bear in the
back country.
The two general rules that have kept me safe in the Canadian Rockies for the past 20 years are:
1.Use common sense and always give notice of your location Make noise every 100 meters or so
and especially when rounding a corner or coming up to thick bush. Black grizzly bears avoid human
contact and alerting them before a human intrusion gives them enough time to retreat, most ... Show

Use common sense and don t attract bears. Black, grizzly and polar bears have excellent sense of
smell and can sniff out food from over a kilometer away. Don t attract bears to you with tempting
smells.
I am not a bear expert, ecologist or even an adventure guide. I m just a regular weekend warrior
who loves to discover Canada and have seen all three types of bears in their natural territory. Bears
can be found across all of Canada except for the southern prairies, southern Ontario Prince Edward
Island.
The two rules mentioned above are what I use all the time when hiking, camping boating (yes,
bears can swim). Giving these intelligent creatures the room and respect that they deserve has
prevented me from getting into a bear attack. However, if such an unfortunate escalation happens,
knowing how to survive a bear attack is vital knowledge in the back country.
Black Bears are the smallest of the bears in Canada and are more scavengers than hunters. They are
opportunistic when it comes to food (and garbage). They lack the massive shoulder hump of muscle
that characterizes the grizzly Bear.
Black bears in Canada can be black, brown or white ish in colour. They are not endangered and
estimated put their numbers at around 600,000 in North America. The white Spirit bear, or
Kermode bear, is actually a black bear and can not mate with the grizzly or polar

Balfour Argument
The Balfour Declaration allowed for the establishment of a new Jewish national homeland called
Israel and the striping of land from the native Palestinians. Ironically, this declaration came at a time
when the idea of self determination was beginning to be recognized (Hisham, 1990). During an
address to the United States Senate in 1917, President Woodrow Wilson highlighted that:
No peace can last, or ought to last, which does not recognize and accept the principle that
governments derive all their just powers from the consent of the governed, and that no right
anywhere exists to hand people about from sovereignty to sovereignty as if they were property.
(Hisham, 1990)

area is in constant battle. Currently, the land belonging to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although many in the US view middle eastern resentment towards them a result of its position for
freedom and democracy, another factor may involve the disagreement with US foreign policy. In a
survey of 2,620 men and women living in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia,
most participants voiced hostility towards the United States because of US policy and position on
the Israeli Palestinian conflict (Munson, 2004). Although the majority of the middle eastern
populations do not wish physical harm to American citizens, their views on US policy are shared
with some of the fanatics in those areas. One Islamic extremist and organizer for the terrorist
attack on 9/11, Osama Bin Laden, cited the suffering of Palestinians as a grave injustice supported
by the United States and one of his reasons for opposition against America (Munson, 2004). Despite
the fact that many other contributors to middle eastern disapproval of US policy exist, the Israeli
Palestinian conflict has created much debate and disdain from around the

Sexism And Social Psychology
Sexism in Relation to Social Psychology
People, on many occasions, have preconceived opinions that are not based on any reason or
actual experience, this is known as prejudice. Whereas sexism is a discrimination or prejudice
based on an individual s sex; a preconceived belief that one sex is superior and more valuable than
another sex. In Personality and Social Psychology Factors Explaining Sexism the authors state, The
personality approach holds factors within the individual as the major causes of prejudice, the
social psychology approach links prejudice to factors like people s social group membership and
social identity, and situational factors (Akrami, N., et al. 2011).
Within the first study written by Akrami, the participants were non psychology university students,
194 women and 185 men; with the mean age being twenty four and a half years. Responding to the
Swedish translation of the Big Five Inventory (BFI; 44 items divided among the five personality
dimensions) and the Swedish version of the 16 item Social Dominance Orientation Scale (SDO; a
15 item Right Wing Authoritarianism Scale (RWA) and the 8 item Modern Sexism Scale, the
participants completed the questionnaire on their own and anonymously. Ultimately, the results
revealed notable positive connections of sexism with SDO and RWA (Akrami, N., et al. 2011).
Two studies were conducted to investigate the harm and ubiquity of benevolent sexism and modern
sexist beliefs. The first study consisted of a group

Learning a non native language is no easy task to partake, but a very important one for the many
people that are trying not to get lost in the translation as they make their transition in their new
home land. In a country that has shown itself to be less than tolerable to non English speakers,
immigrants are in a race with themselves to learn the language and assimilate as best they can.
When it comes to learning a new language there seems to be a bit of a debate as to how to go
about it. One side of the issue declares that learning the rules of grammar is the best way while the
other sides with the importance of building a strong native vocabulary in the language being
learned. The debate essentially comes down to one of Vocabulary versus Grammar. This papers
purpose is highlight the attributes of vocabulary knowledge rather than the grammatical; to
illustrate the importance of a solid, non native vocabulary, the impact it can have on the
functionality and learning ability of English as a second language, and to point out various

Peter Paul Rubens Prometheus Bound
As a child, I traveled to Europe and visited various museums that housed numerous famous
paintings. I remember walking into museums and not understanding anything, I could never
actually understand the sheer brilliance behind these works of art. Now, after taking this Art
History course, I can safely say that I understand and appreciate art a lot more. I would love to go
visit all those museums again, just to see the art works from a completely different perspective.
When I saw the Sistine Chapel a few years ago, I thought it was absolutely beautiful, but I didn t
really know what the paintings stood for therefore seeing it now would be a completely different
experience. After visiting the Philadelphia Museumof Art, there was one painting that really stood
out for me, Prometheus Bound by Peter Paul Rubens

the Baroque style, which is a type of European architecture. This painting was one of the leading

The color and lighting used in this painting help heighten and bring out the emotions that are
being shown. This particular method, known as chiaroscuro, interplays light and dark shades to
give more meaning to the subject. The illumination of Prometheus highlights his goodness and
purity as compared to the darker tones that are used in the depiction and the background of the
eagle characterizing it s evil and morbid nature. Additionally, Prometheus is clad only a blue and
white cloth. Traditionally blue has always been the color of protection, used to ward off evil, and
white is known as the color of purity. The apparent break of dawn in the backdrop could also

A Bar At Folies Bergere
In late 19th century Paris, cafГ©s concerts (best described as glorified beer halls (Clark 206))
were a very popular destination for the people of Paris. CafГ©s concerts became an integral part
of Parisian social life, as they were visited by hundreds of people each night, regardless of class. A
bar at the Folies BergГЁre became the topic of Edouard Manet s last painting, as Manet tried to
portray the new, modern Paris, and the introduction of mass production during this time. A Marxist
art historian, T.J. Clark finds this particular painting important because it revealed a lot about the
new, modern Paris, and Manet s intentions with the painting. Clark focuses more on the emergence
of the new social classduring this time, and how this affected the role of women in Paris. The
painting, A bar at Folies BergГЁre, has historical significance because of how it depicts modernity
in the context of the emergence of a new social class (the petite bourgeoisie), the introduction of
mass production, and the changing role of women.
Manet was well known for his paintings of modernity , which tried to capture Paris during the
late 1800 s, revolutionizing painting during this time. He wanted to capture modern life, and this
is why he chose to do a painting about the Folies BergГЁre. CafГ©s Concerts were considered
very modern for various reasons. They were described as being ordinary, yet successful. They
allowed for the mixing of classes to occur. There was no distinction in, who came

The Roots Of The European Union
INTRODUCTION The roots of the European Union can be traced back to the early 1950 s
when a small number of countries made a decision to join together as a way to resolve any
potential conflict nurture economic growth and common values across the continent. There was
a desire to promote common values and membership was opened to all European countries.
Since the inception the number of members has grown from a founding six countries to what we
now know as the modern day EU with a current total of 28 countries with a further 8 countries
under application review. In 1992, what was then a group of twelve countries, joined together to
form the Customs Community Code which was eventually introduced in January 1993. The
code effectively merged the individual customs regulations in to a single customs union.
BENEFITS OF EU TRADE There are many benefits of trading within the EU, the agreement in
1993 was effectively the start of what we now refer to as the single market, it removed the
borders of a member country for trade enabling the free movement of goods between members
without the encumbrance of the customs process and reducing the need of a significant amount of
accompanying documents that was required for goods being moved across borders. Previously it
was necessary for goods to be shipped with certificates of origin, Invoices, packing lists with a full
breakdown of package contents. If moved by road, which is the normal method of transport within
the EU, a CMR transport note

Testing the effect of every possible combination of evidence based interventions and every possible
factor that might be related to outcomes is logistically unfeasible. Therefore, a research program
informed by theory driven hypotheses is crucial for facilitating a rational use of research resources
in these areas (Vivanti, 2017, p.114 115). The ASD is an early intervention field due to having a
relevant obstacle in the research agenda at a pre paradigmatic stage (Kuhn, 1962) which is a stage
where practices are informed by competing meta theoretical orientations (e.g., behavioral theory,
cognitive theory, and developmental theory) operate in consonance with disparate vocabularies and
criteria used for appraising evidence (Ingersoll, 2010; Smith, 2014). Different treatments of
individualization and combination have to generate testable prognosis, current frameworks of pre
paradigmatic should be developed into full fledged scientific theories which utilize parameters and
constraints to formulate treatment targets and therapeutic change of hypothesized nature. In this
research, the hypothesis of treatment used will oblige the reformulation of rationales treatment in
four sets of explicit terms of explanatory/predictive statements which are (1) logical coherence, (2)
falsifiability, (3)

Judith Butler Heterosexuality
When analyzing the matters of how sex, gender, race and class are implicated in sexuality, many
questions will arise. Furthermore, race class sex and gender are all separate interconnected
categories that have a colossal influence in the way individuals are viewed, perceived,
acknowledged and accepted in todays society. Many theorists such as Judith Butler, who is known
as one of the most prominent American philosophers and gendertheorists, have developed ideas
that support her views on gender performativity, as well as the social constructions of sex and
gender that govern the people of todays society. As noted in the course text, New Sexuality
Studies, there has been a revolution in the study of sexuality. Sex is today understood as
fundamentally social (NSS, xv). Throughout the exploration of this research essay, following week

The course texts and articles used to support this research question will accurately portray that the
underlying problem may not be the privileged status of heterosexuals, but rather societies dualistic
categories that pit groups of people against one another (NSS, 259).
According to Judith Butler, societies that believe in a natural gender order are also organized
around the norm of heterosexuality. Butler argues that heterosexuality is the basis of a culture of
romance, marriage, and family that is enforced by our laws, government, churches schools and
military (NSS, 11). Therefore, through this system of enforced heterosexuality that governs
individuals everyday lives it is comprehensible why societies divide individuals into two gender
types, viewing men and women as the only natural, normal way of living. In the article; How Sex,
Gender and Sexuality Constellations are Constituted in Secondary Schools, written by Deborah

XBRL is based on Extensible Markup Language (XML), a widely accepted technological standard that defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that both humans and machines can read. (Rashty, 2013). Its main purpose is to improve the way business reporting is presented to the public, by making reports more accurate and efficient. It is managed by a non for profit organization called XBRL International, and acts in the best interests of the public. XBRL is being adopted worldwide due to its digital accuracy, and effectiveness. It is mandatory in the United States and the United Kingdom, however in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because XBRL enables companies to save time on having to re key information. The system works by an item having a certain XBRL tag that it can be identified by. This information can then be read directly by numerous other applications, and consequently will not have to be re keyed into that application, eliminating potential errors and reducing the time that would have otherwise been needed to extract the information from financial statements that are filed before transferring to another application for analysis. (Today, 2008). XBRL will now increase the efficiency of accountants and auditors who are required to complete comparisons to different industry averages, as XBRL will complete this automatically. Not only that, but information can be stored and produced in a manner, such that analytical reviews and analysis can be performed much more easily. (Today, 2008). The implementation of XBRL for companies will save both time and money, both of which are crucial in the success of a company and business. These changes are present in both Westpac and ANZ s financial statements. For example, Westpac s 2009 financial statement showed loan capital as being represented under 4 different heading titles, whereas with the introduction of XBRL loan capital in 2014 was these 4 headings incorporated into one figure listed as the loan capital. ... • 4. Jay Gatz Vs The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby is known to have religious symbolism embedded in the text, from God figures to Deism and Christianity. Fitzgerald brings light to Gatsby s humanity and God figure by creating two versions of him in the text: Gatz and Gatsby. However, which version is real, and which is a failed manifestation of the other? It is evident in the text that the real version, or person, is in fact James Gatz. Jay Gatsbyis only a gilded version of James Gatz, created by the mind of a seventeen year old. Through his gildedness, he has managed to destroy his life and build his riches from unsavory people in the hopes of obtaining the magic of his past life. James Gatz was simply trying to be someone who he really wasn t on the inside, which ultimately led him to his death. To... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fitzgerald relates Gatsby to a son of a God doing His Father s business, or the son of his past self doing his business. New money is the best description for Jay Gatsby, being rash, ostentatious, and flamboyant with his riches and power. His house, Rolls Royce, and extreme parties all reflect his character and his motives to gain the love of Daisy once again. It is ironic that Gatsby changed his entire life, however he thinks that everything can return to the way it was in the past, more specifically the relationship between Daisy and Gatsby. Their love for each other is now tainted on both sides, one because Daisy also loves Tom, and that Gatsby does not truly love Daisy anymore. He loves the idea of Daisy and the memories they have had together, almost envisioning her as a perfect being. This translates to an unhealthy lust for Daisy from Gatsby, which changes, and eventually ends, their relationship. One can also point observe that Jay Gatsby, as a public figure, is gilded. The mask that Gatsby puts on in public hides the source of his riches, which are of dishonorable and corrupt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Zayed- Man Who Built A Nation As a matter of fact, I have chosen a book titled Zayed Man Who Built A Nation . because I am attracted by its title. The book that includes 734 pages, covered all details about the life of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. I always influenced by the president of Emirates Arab behavior the founding father of the EAU, and those who have escorted him throughout his long life. The book comprises the challenges that Sheikh Zayed confronted since 1971 until his death in 2004. My interest is to illustrate the exclusive accomplishments of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyana Bedouin who lived in the desert and a leader of his people and for the good of the world. The book of Zayed: Man Who Built a Nation was written by Graeme H. Wilson. (2013). In the first place, the book mentioned that Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was born in 1912 on the poor isolated and largely ignored Trucial Coast. He was the youngest of the four sons, his father. As a member of the ruling class, his childhood could be considered to be relatively privileged, but it was also one scarred by the difficulties of the era. The tragic death of his father, regional economic collapse and difficult political conditions meant that it was a hard, uncertain life. Sheikh Zayed emerged through this with a reputation as a leader of note. While his brother, Sheikh Shakhbout, was Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed served as the Wali of Al Ain, a period in which he revived the economy of the area and became famous ... • 9. Assisted Suicide Should Be Legal What is assisted suicide? By definition, assisted suicide is suicide committed with the assistance of another person, usually a physician. This definition has changed slightly from the past. Assisted suicide used to be defined more as when a terminally ill patient would be assisted in their death by a doctor or physician. To some, it is a way to end the pain and suffering of a terminally ill loved one. To others, assisted suicide is considered killing people without giving them a chance. People also believe that assisted suicide, euthanasia, and hospice care are all the same thing. Assisted suicide is a worldwide controversy and has been for many years. Questions of morals and ethics come into play heavily when discussing whether assisted suicide should be legal or not. Assisted suicide is legal in only five states in the United States. Oregon being the first of those states, legalized assisted suicide back in the 1990s. Canada on the other hand, only has assisted suicide legalized in one Province. That province is Quebec and their definition of assisted suicide leans closer to being euthanasia which causes more controversy to whether assisted suicide should be legal in Canada. Other countries have a much more strict outlook on the issue. There are many positive uses for what is called assisted suicide that can help alleviate people s pain and suffering in a beneficial way to the patient and family; however with assisted suicide comes the negative factors when ethics ... • 11. Meghann Riepenhoff Research Papers This past Friday, I attended an art exhibition at the Memphis College of Art where I saw great paintings from Meghann Riepenhoff, along with Tim Andrews. The show consisted of both their paintings in separate sections, they were the only two artist. Personally, I d say the show combined did not have a theme, but as separate it did. When I first stepped in the building, I was welcomed by greeters, the event coordinator and Riepenhoff s paintings. Her painting s made me think the overall event theme was about the beach and waves, but that was not the case. Viewing the paintings, it seem to me very realistic, as if I were actually standing in front of an incoming wave. I stepped closer to the paintings and I could see the very small details that gave them the realistic effect, despite the use of the cyanotype chemicals working with nature combined. Each work of art presented by her was processed and completed in Bainbridge Island, Washington area. Although I deeply enjoyed all of her unique art, my favorite cyanotype piece is Littoral Drift #275 . What I most loved about this particular piece was the fact that it was a more so closer, deeper view into the wave. • 12. The Effects of Social Isolation in the Invisible Man by... Social Isolation, a state or process in which persons, groups, or cultures lose or do not have communication or cooperation with one another, often resulting in open conflict. In H.G Wells 1897 novel The Invisible Man, the main character, Griffin, is socially isolated due to a condition that has forced him to stay out of the scrutinizing eye of society .As the novel progresses, the effects of social isolation begin to take form in Griffin s actions and become more pertinent with each event that occurs. These actions show the effects of social isolation throughout the course of the novel. The beginning of Griffin s social isolation begins early in his life. Griffin is albino, meaning that he has little to no pigmentation in his skin, eyes, and hair. This condition makes it exceptionally challenging for Griffin to be a cohesive member of society, so in order to avoid the eminent rejection that he believes awaits him if he tries to join society, he chooses to become an introvert. The expression a fish out of water reminds us that every animal is adapted to a habitat (Pinker 374). Griffin does not have a habitat to adapt to because he lives outside of society and has no one to help him adapt. At this point Griffin is able to be diagnosed with a form of social loneliness due to his feelings of being an outcast (Gelinas 4). After Griffin is isolated from society for a short period of time, his anger starts to progress into something that even he cannot control. As the novel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Creationism vs. Evolutionism in Public Schools Debate: Creationism vs. Evolution in Schools: 1st Affirmative Constructive Speech Creationism and Evolutionism by definition are very different topics. Currently, evolutionary naturalism is the most widely taught view of origins in America. In schools in the modern day, only evolutionism is taught and condoned. But before the 1920s, only creationism was taught, and evolution was forbidden. Then, on February 20, 2008, the Florida State Board of Education voted to revise the public school guidelines to require teachers to teach only Evolutionism. The law was passed with a very narrow 4 to 3 vote in favor of the law. Our resolution (affirmative side) is to teach both the theories of evolution and creationism side by side. This would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An additional chink in the system is that the theory of evolution has many gaps that need to be filled by something like the theory of creation. While evolution may be the dominating theory in Florida school boards, it does not provide some answers to several areas that Creationism may actually answer, such as how the first organism, Earth, or the entire Universe came to be. On the other hand, Creationism has equally as many holes that can be filled by the Evolutionary Theory such as how all the species of the earth became what they are now. Creationism and Evolutionism are not that different. In 1969, when American astronauts first stood on the moon, they read from the bible. Men of science and technology, reading from the Book of Genesis. This is an example of how an individual can believe in evolution and other scientific theories and still have faith. Our plan to resolve these harms is this: the state of Florida should teach Creationism and Evolution side by side. Each theory would be taught sequentially and would have its own chapter of discussion. Teaching both, side by side, in the same class would provide a fair and equal opportunity of religion, education and choice. It would give the youth an opportunity to learn and expand their ... In order to link emissions and damages to the IO data, we match industries in six digit NAICS code to industries in six digit IO code, and it is no problem for most cases. However, there are two exceptional cases. One exceptional case is that for 20 IO industries, we cannot find the matched NAICS industries. That is, there is no information on damages in the 20 IO industries. Thus, in the baseline model, we leave damages in the 20 industries equal to zero. Another exceptional case is that with regard to the agricultural industries and construction industries, damage data are in a more aggregated level. Therefore, disaggregating GEDs are necessary with respect to those industries. In the baseline model we allocate GEDs in agricultural and construction industries proportionally to value added. The procedures to handle these two exceptional cases are explained in Appendix B. Furthermore, sensitivity analyses are carried out in Section 4.6 to assess changes of results if different approaches are used to handle these issues. For the simplicity of results presentation and results discussion, we further aggregate the estimated results into 42 sectors according to the IO code. For instance, a heading in The Times from June 4, 1940 referred to the civilian vessels at Dunkirk as a Magnificent Spirit . Furthermore, the column noted how Fishermen, yachtsmen, yacht builders, yacht clubs, river boatmen responded in Britain s time of need and how the civilian sailors manned their craft with volunteer crews and rushed them to the assembly point . Similarly, another piece from The Times helped illustrate a sense of mass, spontaneous civilian participation by making reference to how the only complaints people had about volunteering their vessels Dunkirkcame from boat owners who could not get themselves onboard in time to go to their boats . Newspapers publishing articles such as the two noted above helped form the public conception of the Little Ships as a mass armada of selfless volunteers who helped rescue countless Allied troops and delivered them to British coastal ports. The pinnacle of this fantasifull narrative was Paul Gallico s short story, The Snow Goose, published in The Saturday Evening Post. • 31. A Report On The River Discharge Essay The Apalachicola River discharge was about an order or two higher in a wet season (March 23 25, 2015) than in a dry season (November 2 4, 2015) (Figure 8a 8b). Furthermore, the river discharge increased progressively in March, whereas it altered a little in November except after November 4, 2015. The predicted tidal heights showed relatively similar micro tidal environment in both surveys; however the ebb tidal periods were much stronger in March than in November (Figure 8c 8d). Weak to average winds (2.85 В± 0.97 ms 1 in March and 2.29 В± 1.68 ms 1 in November) were observed during the field measurements. Nonetheless, sustained periods of cold northerly winds in March and warm southerly winds in November could have affected the field and satellite measurements at some stations, e.g., by sediment re suspension and wavy sea state (black boxes, Figure 8e 8f). Tidal forcing was likely the major factor to control the diurnal variation in salinity and water level in both the seasons (Figure 8c 8d). Moreover, moderate winds could have affected salinity and water level above the tidal height either by pushing river water towards the bay or by introducing shelf water into the bay (e.g. black boxes in Figure 8) (Huang et al. 2002a; Huang et al. 2002b). Dry Bar and Cat Point salinity stations were located close to river mouth (Figure 1); however, they showed considerable variations in salinity during the study period (Figure 8g 8h). Someone may find themselves asking why these things happen, and how can they stop it? The problem exists deep within society, and societal change can take a lifetime if not multiple lifetimes. That means this nation will have to take on every single instance of these vile crimes one at a time, which is no small feat considering it occurs in the millions in this country alone. It s a hard subject to understand as both a man, and a subject I can only see from the outside in. To come up with a solution to end the problem is something far beyond the reach of my skills in deduction and ability to create tools to prevent these things from happening. That means I can only deliver these three points as to how we should react. Firstly, everyone needs to listen, then we must teach men, and finally create or adapt a system for proper legal recourse. This battle will be long, but one should be hopeful because humankind s compassion is inherent, born with the capacity to love exponentially, it is only a problem when we remove that from the equation. To begin, victims need to be heard, and it really is as simple as that. Tens of thousands or maybe even more victims go without ever speaking out against their perpetrators and the actions they commit. • 34. The Ethics Of The Accounting Profession Ethics in all forms is concerned with the good and bad, right and wrong in a situation. (Duska) In life you will be placed in a situation where you have to make a choice. These situations are not always black and white, in other words they do not have a clear answer. You will not know what your reaction would be in any given situation until you are there and have to make the decision. This is present in both our personal and professional lives. However, if you always follow the guidelines set by God and treat all as you wish to be treated then more than likely you will make a fair and impartial decision when necessary. The accounting profession is based on the honesty, integrity, and word of those in this profession. That is truly who they are in the eyes of the public and with this comes great responsibility to all those involved. We will be evaluating two ethical systems in this paper and deciding which would be the most appropriate for the accounting profession. The first ethical view that we will discuss is Deontology. Deontology came from the writings of Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher. Deontology is defined as a view that is based on what is fair over the consequences of the actions. Deontologists believe that there are ethical guidelines that are universally applicable to all people. The actions should be ethical even if the consequences are not favorable and should be based on rational thought. This view is follows a line of professional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
