2. School Psychologist In School
The role of a School Psychologist is vital to our education system. A School
Psychologist has the privilege of working closely with teachers, paraprofessionals,
parents, and most importantly, children in order to ensure their educational needs are
being fully met. While some schools might primarily focus on academics,
development on the whole child is so much more than that. I find the role of a school
psychologist one that advocates for the success of a child, including their social and
emotional development, even when no one else does. For that reason, I have gained
interest in the field of school psychologyand aspire to become an advocate for
children. I have been fortunate enough to work with children of various ages,
backgrounds, and cultures since I was 16. I grew to love the way children think and
viewed the world and have always enjoyed guiding youth. However, I also felt...

is best. And by being able to engage parents in their child s education, as well as other
professionals, the child will know and understand that their best interest is in mind.
With the guidance and education provided by the School Psychology faculty at
Cleveland State University, I will work towards changing the narrative for many
children experiencing related stories as the young boy from the child care center. In
addition, I believe the faculty members will encourage me to expand my area of
interest by introducing me to assorted topics within School Psychology such as
bibliotherapy, multi tiered systems of support, school based interventions, and much
more. Most importantly, I believe the School Psychology program at Cleveland State
University will encourage me to pursue my career goals within the field of School

She Endured The characters in The Sound and the Fury, by William Faulkner, are
psychologically complex, haunted, prone to spells of vanity and desires, and
ultimately tragic. Always one to play the role of the noble Southern gentleman,
Quentin Compson III is passionate and neurotic, consumed with the ideal Southern
values of chivalry and honor. Quentin is tormented by his father s nihilistic
philosophy and degradation of women and African Americans, as Jason Compson III
provides no moral compass to steer Quentin away from the storms of his chaotic

6. Penicillin Discovery
Penicillin was truly nothing more than just an accident. Penicillin became a widely
used medicine in many ways. Like many other things we have discovered Penicillin
was an accident, that happened in a man named Alexander Fleming s lab.
To begin, Penicillin became a widely used medicine for many reasons. One reason
it became widely used was because how it was discovered. It was discovered by
Alexander Fleming. Alexander went on a month long vacation, and came back to his
lab cultures being covered in mold. One particular culture looked different, he noticed
that the mold on that culture killed all the bacteria in it. Alexander did a bunch of
experiments and discovered that the mold could kill bacteria and that could benefit
humans. According to the text It seemed that as it had grown, the mold killed the
bacteria in the culture. This quote means that if the mold could kill the bacteria in the
culture than it could kill the bacteria in a human.
Another reason penicillin became widely used was because during ... Show more

He was a lab expert on the nutrition of molds. Andrew with the help of Dr. Heatley,

Moyer, the labs expert on the nutrition of molds, had succeeded, with the assistance
of Dr. Heatley, in increasing the yields of penicillin 10 times. This quote explains
how they helped the penicillin flourish even more.
In conclusion, penicillin became widely used in many ways. Some ways are, by
the discovery of it, by what it did to help people, and by how it became even better.
Penicillin is a great thing that helped save many people s lives. It also helped many
doctors save their patients lives. Penicillin is also a great reminder that everything

9. High-Protein Diets For Weight Loss Essay
High Protein Diets for Weight Loss
The Role of Dieting in Society Today
The preoccupation of modern society with appearance is reflected in part by the
preponderance of Americans who engage in dieting behaviors. Despite the nutritional
and fitness literature which pervades society today, 33% of the American population
continues to be overweight (Bates, 1997). The USDA recommendation for a low fat,
high complex carbohydrate diet over the years has seemingly not been effective,
since the proportion of overweight Americans has increased. Many frustrated
Americans have in turn looked beyond the high carb, low fat diet to other less
conventional measures (http.//web.usatoday.com/life/health/lhs641.htm). Dietary

Popular Examples of High Protein Diets
The Zone diet, as described in The Zone by Barry Sears, Ph.D. is an example of a
protein adequate diet (http://web.usatoday.com/life/health/lhs641.htm). Small meals
of fruits, vegetables, monounsaturated fats, and low fat proteins are advised to be
eaten throughout the day. Sources of total calorie composition outlined by this
dietary plan is as follows: 40% carbohydrate, 30% fat, 30% protein. The amount of
fat is dictated by the amount of protein consumed at each meal. The role of fat in
this diet plan is described by Dr. Sears as follows: slows the rate of carbohydrate
entry into bloodstream which reduces insulin response, releases hormone (CCK)
from stomach to tell brain to stop eating, and supplies the building blocks (essential
fatty acids) for eicosanoids (http://www.users.cts.com/crash/d/dbrowndc
/zonefaq.htm#Unfavorable). Therefore according to this perspective, in order for the
body to burn fat and weight loss to occur, insulin must be maintained within a
prescribed zone (Kirby, 1997).
This high protein diet is depicted as a life long hormonal control program which
allows a person to maximize full genetic potential. The zone diet allows a person to
eat as if they were already at their ideal percentage of body fat because stored
calories are being hormonally released. The advertised effects of this dietary plan on
the body include: burns fat, fights heart disease, diabetes, PMS, chronic

flexible. You can quickly and conveniently add new products to the PIM system
more swiftly than you would add to an ERP system. With this advantage, you can
easily engage new applications to the system without many hurdles. IT managers
are particularly advantaged since they can be able to gauge what would happen if
they added new applications. If you project a risk or loss, you can conveniently
evade it. Improves the quality of data. If your data is of high standards, one can
easily use it even in external channels. The user friendly interface in PIM has the
responsibility of checking your media data and verifying that it is properly
maintained and the quality has been increased. For example, in a website shop,
products are evidently visible to the customers. You have to ensure that the quality of
such data is of high standards since you need to attract more customers to your
11. How Is Nora Controlled By Henrik Ibsen
In the play A Doll s House, Henrik Ibsen focuses on Nora s role in her marriage
with her husband, Helmer. Nora s character symbolizes the oppression of the woman
in the Victorian Era because of the lack to control she has as a woman during that
time period. Throughout the play, Ibsen portrays her character as being controlled by
Helmer physically, emotionally, and sexually. Even so, Nora still continue to strive to
achieve this one perfect womanthat her husbandexpects her to be. However, along
the way she comes to a realization about her marriageand that allowed her to break
free from Helmer s control. Although his expectations has hold her back from doing

Even though Helmer controls her a lot, there are times where she seem to not be
bothered by his control. Not only is she submissive but she is also very
manipulative. Nora uses her sexuality to get what she wants from Helmer because
she knows it s the only thing that she has to gain power over Helmer s ego. She
would flirt, lie and touch Helmer to get him to approve on things that she wants.
When Helmer asked what Nora would like to have, she fumbled his coat button
and said hurriedly You could give me money, Torvald. No more than you think you
can spare; then one of these days I ll buy something with it. (45). This shows how
Nora acts toward Helmer when she wanted something from him. With Helmer, she
is forced to show sexual appeal toward him because she is a woman because that s
the only thing that she can do in order to get a reaction out of him. Another scene
where this happens is when Nora was leaning on his chair, stroking the nape of his
neck in order to get him to give back Krogstad position to him so he wouldn t reveal
the secret of her borrowing money. She knows the position that she stand when it
comes to Helmer. Even if her beauty is something that can manipulate him, it won t

12. What They Haven T Told You About Climate Change
Summary
In his video What They Haven t Told You about Climate Change for conservative
media organization Prager University, environmentalist and former President of
Greenpeace Canada Patrick Moore expresses his skepticism of humans being a major
cause of climate change. While it is true that humans have not been the sole
contributors to climate change, Moore significantly downplays the impact that
humans have had on the climate. The overwhelming, international, peer reviewed
scientific consensus is that recent human activity has caused an unprecedented
increase in global warming( Climate Change: How do we know? ). Moore s
characterization of humanity s impact on climate change omits important data and
research to spin a misleading narrative on climate change. Moore begins his argument
by stating that global temperature has fluctuated upwards and downwards in the past
two thousand years, claiming that the Medieval Warm Period was at least as warm, if
not warmer than today. This characterization of the Medieval Warm... Show more

Therefore, it is important to examine Moore s environmental experience and
motives in making such claims. Moore attempts to ground his credibility by
marketing himself as the co founder of Greenpeace, a claim that has been disputed
by Greenpeace itself. Greenpeace states that while it is true that Patrick Moore
was a member of Greenpeace in the 1970s, in 1986 he abruptly turned his back on
the very issues he once passionately defended. , he has since gone from defender of
the planet to a paid representative of corporate polluters. ( Greenpeace Statement on
Patrick Moore ). Moore exploits his former position at Greenpeace to appear
reasonable in his climate change skeptic positions, most of which Greenpeace
oppose. In addition, Prager University, the publisher of Moore s video, is not an
accredited university that neither conducts academic research nor offers degree

14. Modern Neuroscience, Accurate And Accurate Optical
Reporting
In modern neuroscience, accurate optical reporting of electrical activity in defined
neuronal populations can be monumental task. The reason for the enormity of this
task is due largely in part to the lack of a sufficient, effective and accurate optical
reporting procedure for activity of the brain. At this point in time, genetically
encoded fluorescent indicators seem to be the answer for accurate and effective
optical reporting, largely because they allow monitoring of defined neuronal circuits
and do not require any chemical access. Ideally, these indicators would produce large
fluorescent responses, allowing imaging on how input signals are processed into
output signals by neurons. In addition, these ideal indicators would have... Show more

ASAP1 was developed by inserting a circularly permuted green fluorescent protein
into a voltage sensing extracellular domain. It s believed that this design will have
sufficient brightness, faster kinetics, as well as a dynamic range of detection of
neuronal activity needed to make this ASAP1 design the ideal fluorescent based
reporter for optical reporting of brain activity. This hypothesis was tested
extensively in a laboratory setting to prove the claim. Numerous standard laboratory
techniques and instrumentation was used to obtain the forthcoming results. The
ASAP1 expression plasmids were created by standard molecular biology methods,
and then verified through cloned fragment sequencing. A plasmid was used for
multiple reasons, the most prominent being that plasmids are very easy to
manipulate to express a desired genetic element. In addition, they are very stable as
well as self replicating once initially constructed. HEK293A cells were used in
experimentation and transfected with the ASAP1 plasmid. The HEK293A cells,
which are very popular for transfection, were chosen as they are easy to reproduce,
maintain, and have a high efficiency of transfection. HEK293A cells also have
minimal processes that need to be accomplished in order to preform voltage clamp

Facing the Energy Crisis Since the industrial revolution began, humans have
doubled their consumption rates almost every decade. The worlds natural
resources have been on a steady decline for many years and a frequently asked
question is what s next? . Professor David MacKay explains how he thinks society
can give answers to these questions of what is next after the natural resources dry
up. MacKay is a professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of Cambridge,
and chief Advisor of the U.K. Department of Energy and Climate Change. MacKay
has elaborated in several ways how countries around the world have increased
consumption more in the past 15 years than ever before in recorded history. There
are many factors that could effect the future of our energy crisis, including the
increase of renewable power sources, slowing down on energy consumption, and the
development of new technologies to power the forever growing world. The increase
of renewable energyis quite possible if done in a smart way. The world powers and
people like MacKay have talked about ways of expanding the renewable energy
sources and creating enough facilities that produce renewable energy to power
entire countries. In order to make this a reality it takes more than just a small
section of land. As stated by MacKay, If you do want renewables to make a
substantial difference for a country like the United Kingdom on the scale of today s
consumption, you need to be imagining renewable facilities that

According to the article Emotional Detachment in Relationships, by Michael
Schreiner, emotional detachment is more common among males than women where
a man tends to shut down, stop talking and distance himself when there is a difficult
conflict situation going on with no resolution in sight. One way to get through this
emotional detachment is to not poke or prod your partner to force them to become
emotionally attached, but rather give them some space and time to let things calm
down. Poking and prodding has been found to have an adverse effect on what you
are trying to accomplish. Physical disconnect ranks high as one of the reasons why
relationships fail as well. Your significant other is sexually dissatisfied and instead of
dealing with the issue with their mate, they are tempted to wander and go outside the
relationship to satisfy those urges. One solution to conquer and overcome this issue
is to establish an open line of communication so that your partner can be aware of
your wants and desires and hopefully help in fulfilling them for you.
In addition, relationships often fail because either one or both partners are not being
honest with themselves, their mate or with the relationship as a whole. A lot of times
people get involved with one another and assume that what they want and desire out
of a relationship is the same thing that their partner wants as well. This could be
anything from wanting to be in a monogamous relationship and not knowing that the
17. Essay R.L.Polk Case Study
Introduction:
What is the business rationale for making the technology investment? This is one of
the most important questions to ask. Almost all companies depend on some
technology solution to deliver goods and services. Investing in new technologies for
the sake of having the latest up to date systems, just does not seem to cut it in the
minds of most industry executives, nor does trying to rationalize a major technology
investment solely on the basis of reducing ongoing maintenance costs of the old
systems. Information technology usually does not have a direct impact on the bottom
line. IT is applied to business processes, and it is those business processes that
increase revenue or reduce expenses [Berman,Knight]. This implies ... Show more

After evaluating different technologies R.L. Polk decided to implement grid
computing, service oriented architecture and Oracle database due to the new
capabilities it offered.
A garbage can model of IT value portrays the factors most organizations confront
when making investment in technology [Henry C. Lucas Jr]. According to Henry
C. Lucas Garbage Can model the value of a project depends on the level with
which the variable affecting a project such as management buy in, technology, cost,
and IT staff converge to produce a useful output. The level of this convergence
determines the value derived from the project. If an application is ideal for an
organization and is configured and implemented correctly but is not embraced by
the users it will not produce the anticipated value. In cases where technology
becomes intertwined with the strategy of the organization, as was the case in the
R.L Polk case study, it becomes even harder to determine the true value of the
solution. In these scenarios the direct benefits might be easier to calculate, but
assigning the value of the indirect benefits to the technology becomes difficult. For
this reason, I agree with the approach adopted by Vasconi in this article. Creating a
separate company for developing the new solution not only increases the probability
of success, but it also makes it easier to measure the direct and indirect benefits
created by the solution. Vasconi effectively used the garbage can

Retail industry in India is at the crossroads. It has emerged as one of the most
dynamic and fast paced industries with several players entering the market. But
because of the heavy initial investments required, break even is difficult to achieve
and many of these players have not tasted success so far.
However, the future is promising; the market is growing, government policies are
becoming more favorable and emerging technologies are facilitating operations.
Retailing in India is gradually inching its way towards becoming the next boom
industry.
The whole concept of shopping has altered in terms of format and consumer buying
behavior, ushering in a revolution in shopping in India. Modern retail has entered
India as seen in sprawling shopping centers, multi storied malls and huge complexes
offer shopping, entertainment and food all under one roof. The Indian retailing sector
is at an inflexion point where the growth of organized retailing and growth in the
consumption by the Indian population is going to take a higher growth trajectory.

20. John Ashbery s Influence On Visual Art
The poetry of the New York School artists is exceptionally affected by visual art; the
artists, for example, Frank O Hara, and John Ashbery were influenced basically by
Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism, Cubism, and Dada. The motivation behind why
visual workmanship had such a solid impact on their poetryis that the painters of the
New York School ruled the art world, they set the patterns, and writers and artists
follow them. Additionally, visual craftsmanship played a noteworthy part in the lives
of the artists as a number of them were art reviewers and they frequently worked
together with the artists. The thesis of this paper concentrates on the Marcel
Duchamp s art influence on John Ashbery poetry, especially Daffy Duck in
Hollywood.

though there is no particular illustrative of Abstract Expressionism that could impact

can be found in his poetry including the control with disjointed and fragmented
expressions which are being contrasted and frequently make the illusion of collage.
An example of Blended influences and contrasted expressions are likewise the
primary sources of Ashbery s humor, and they frequently consolidate references to
both high and low culture. It can be seen that visual art assumed a huge part in
Ashbery s poetry, however as far as particular sources it is essential to recognize that
Ashbery poetry should be for the most part seen in its own particular world and not

21. Advantages And Disadvantages Of The European Union
In this essay, I will be discussing why and how the European Union was set up and
the advantages and disadvantages of membership in its historical context.
The European Union was built in the aftermath of the Second World War. This was to
create peace and end frequent and bloody wars between neighbouring countries that
culminated in the Second World War. Autarky and protection, fragmenting Europes
economy, had caused economic malaise and political antagonism. This portrays how
fragile the European Union was during the Second World War especially with the
conflict between France and Germany. These two super giants had gone to war three
times in less than a century and twice had been at the centre of terrible world wars.

Countries that were not effected as highly economically combined with the United
States to contribute gold and currency to those among the EU to fund for basic
government needs and help pay of their debts. This was an immensely positive
gesture as it had come with no repayment plan.
The Marshall plan was introduced by an American general named George Marshall.
Its aims were to spark economic recovery within the EU. Although this plan had
channelled over $13 billion to help economic recovery between 1948 1951 the Soviet
Union had refused to participate. This was due to the Soviet Union portraying this to
interfere with internal affairs between states. This had led to the Soviets refusing
Poland and Czechoslovakia to interfere. However, although the Soviets decided not to
interfere the United States had taken the opportunity to remake the European
economy in the image of their own.
During 1949, the Americans along with 11 other states had decided to form a pact
which was then named NATO. The Soviets then decided upon themselves to form
their own pact with other allies in eastern Europe and rival NATO thus it introduced
the Warsaw Pact. Nearly every European country was divided into one of these two
pacts and this had created political division. NATO had continued expansion of their
pact beyond the cold war and it had grew bigger with more member states joining

22. The Autonomic Nervous System
Sleep is necessary for basic health and survival. It plays a large role in an individual
s mental, emotional, and physiological welfare and functioning. After years of sleep
research focusing on sleep wake cycles, evidence points to the conclusion that sleep
deprivation has detrimental consequences, not only on rodents, but humans as well
(Cheng et al., 2015). In the past century, the average amount of time that adults sleep
has decreased significantly. Consequently, sleep problems have become an epidemic,
taking their toll on the health of adult populations in numerous ways. The National
Sleep Foundation (NSF) conducted a Gallup Poll in March 2002 in which American
lifestyles, sleep habits, and sleep problems were surveyed. The results... Show more

Monitoring HRV can provide information about the function of the autonomic
nervous system. HRV is a non invasive index of the neural control of the heart
(Acharya, Sing, Ping Chua, 2004). Although it is difficult to establish a particular
standard normal heart rate for a given individual, most individuals have a typical
range from 60 to 100 beats per minute (Fox et al., 2007). However, the interval
between each heartbeat constantly varies. High frequency variability in RR
reflects parasympathetic activation, while a slower variability in RR reflects a
combination of both parasympathetic and sympathetic modulation along with non
autonomic factors. When interpreting HRV data, there are several components in
the power spectrum that can have fluctuating ranges. A power spectrum is a plot
of the portion of a signal s power or energy per unit time, falling within given
frequency bands. The three major bands of the power spectrum in HRV are high
frequency (HF), low frequency (LF), and very low frequency (VLF). A HF peak
typically ranges between 0.15 Hz to 0.4 Hz, while a LF peak ranges from 0.06 to
0.15 Hz. A VLF peak is below .05 Hz (Kamath Fallen, 1993). The LF is associated
with blood pressure control and reflects sympathetic activity. The HF is correlated
with respiratory sinus arrhythmia and reflects parasympathetic activity
23. The Extraordinaly Productive Musical Period
Composer Howard Goodall looks at the extraordinarily productive musical period
between 1650 and 1750, in which many of the musical innovations we take for
granted today were invented. The orchestra; the overture, which led, ultimately, to the
symphony; satisfying chord sequences, which gave music a forward momentum;
modern tuning, which, for the first time, allowed composers to move from one key to
any other they chose, and for different instruments to easily play together; the
concerto, the oratorio, and, not least, the piano. In an age when Newton put in place
the basic laws of science, musicians did the same thing in music. No wonder, in an
age that also saw great advances in clock making, that much of the music of this
period sounds like
24. Case of United States Versus Microsoft Essay
Case of United States Versus Microsoft
United States versus Microsoft Corporation case was a set of combined civil
engagements filed against Microsoft relating to the Sherman Antitrust Act by the
Department of Justice. In the case, the Department of Justice purported that
Microsoft abused monopoly supremacy on PCs in its control of OS sales and web
browser software sales (Lohr Brinkley, 2001). The conflict evolved around the
integration of the internet explorer browser software in Microsoft s Windows OS; a
move that was argued to restrict web browser competitors like Opera and Netscape
from accessing the browser market. Microsoft argued that it did not have a case to

Moreover, independent software manufactures and developers selling PCs loaded

uncertainty stimulated by continuing litigation would thus serve the concern of the
hardware and software companies in general.
Economic analysts propose that in conflicts or disputes, concession rather than
exclusion, is the best rule. According to a basic principle of economics, when costs
are low, parties or players will willingly transact if an equally advantageous
transaction is possible. This is evident, as a vast majority of legal disputes have been
settled in such a way.
Settlements of awaiting litigation normally represent a concession that takes related
information into account and offers benefits to both parties (Glader, 2006). If the
settlement is not mutual, the decision of continuing the hearing is likely to victimize
one party and halt negotiations. The fact that the government and Microsoft
Corporation came to an agreement after several unsuccessful efforts to do so in the
past implies that the planned settlement was not a win for the government or
Microsoft; but a central ground reflecting the facts of the case, the court

Violent...
In 2005, Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a law into effect for the state of California
that would prohibit anyone under the age of 18 from playing Mature (M) rated
violent video games. If there were any violators of this law, a hefty fine of $1,000
would have been issued. However on July 23rd, 2011, the Supreme Court did not
have enough evidence and revoked this law claiming that it is unconstitutional and
violates the 1st amendment (Mears). Even though video gamemakers scored a huge
victory, the problem still exists. Research confirms that children are spending an
increasing amount of time playing top rated violent video games. On average,
boys are playing 13 hours a night, while girls are playing only 5 hours a night (
Children and Videos ). In comparison, 97% of children between the ages of 12 and
17 reported playing video games, while 2/3 of them played video games that
contained violent content ( Violent ). As the number of children playing video games
continues to increase, the amount of violenceseen in the real world is increasing as
well. The horrific acts of violence (killings, intense violence, strong language, and
sexual context) that are situated in these games are becoming more common in the
real world because children are imitating these fierce actions. Moreover, violent video
games are influencing violence among children by influencing aggressive behavior,
lowering the amount of time spent towards education, and incorporating dangerous
content into these video

A more detailed overlook of the experiment is demonstrated in Figure 1. The figure

the rest of the substrates and was more at a plateau compared to the other three
substrates. Starch only had a 0.3 mL increase from the 1 minute

lady he was referring to was Lady Poverty. He would go on to sell off all his
possessions including his own horse and attempted to give the money to the
decaying St. Damian Church which the priest would not accept. It is worth noting
that the priest did not take the money because he found the change of heart within
Francis startling. The priest was amazed, and wondering at a change of

Have you ever wondered why Coca Cola now comes in versions such as light and

that the company read your mind and was fulfilling your desire to lose weight while
still indulging in your favorite beverage. However, the relationship between you and
the food giants is quite the opposite. What you think is healthy or unhealthy is based
on research funded by companies that profit off of your food choices, currently, much
of the research regarding health and weight lossis funded by companies such as Coca
Cola and Kellogg therefore therefore, you are the one fulfilling their desire (CBS,
2015).
The idea that large companies and the media dictate our daily lives has slowly
become common knowledge. Therefore, one must be cautious in regards of the
sources he or she trusts. For instance, Steve Blair, who conducts research that
supports the idea that obesity in America is due to lack of physical activity as
opposed to calorie consumption has much of his research funded by Coca Cola, a
company which is largely known for its calorie packed drinks and snacks.
Moreover, while Blair s research might be supported by relevant data, so was the
research that justified smoking. Nonetheless, the way data is analyzed can be
extremely biased based on who is paying for the collection and analysis of such data
(Freedhoff, 2015).

when they began their study into the different sides of the brain, the researchers began
to think that some people used one half more than the other because each side did
tasks differently and each individual within the study was different as well. The most
extreme evidence that has been found is from a surgery called split brain created by
Roger Sperry where the nerve tracts that connect the hemispheres
33. Microorganisms Can Easily Be Found From Water
Microorganisms can easily be found in water. In third world countries, this can
pose a huge threat, because lots of people can get sick from drinking water. SODIS
is a method used by many in undeveloped countries as means of attaining microbe
free water. It involves allowing water to stay exposed to sunlight in order to kill
whatever microbes are living in it. For this experiment, microbial diversity was
determined by collecting a sample of water of different from shaded water and water
directly hit by the sunlight. Microbes were then cultured for 7 days. The abundance
of the different colony types was then counted. Results exhibited that the community
from the light area was more biodiverse. It was concluded that a possible reason for
this is due to the different structures of bacteria, allowing some of them to sustain the
light and others to be restricted by it. Since SODIS relies on light to kill
microorganisms, it should be accompanied by another method that will also kill the
bacteria that may survive in the water after being treated in the sunlight.
Introduction
Microbes are any organism that can t be seen with the naked eye. They can be
classified as bacteria, protists, fungi and sometimes even parasites. Many different
types of microbes can exist within a community, which means that they have the
potential to have a high species diversity (Reece et. al. 2014). Found virtually
anywhere, microbes can range from being very beneficial for the environment to

Astigmatism is not a disease but rather a condition. It s an eye condition that causes
your vision to worsen over time. This happens because the cornea (eye) is not

of astigmatism; they are called Corneal and Lenticular astigmatism. Corneal
astigmatism is when one side of the cornea is either flatter or steeper than the other
side. This causes blurred vision because the light that hits the retinaat the back of the

individuals have trouble in social situations whether that is making friends or just
talking one on one with a family member. There are many characteristics that
describe an individual as having Asperger s syndrome. Most of these characteristics
were displayed throughout the film through the character Mickey Tussler. In this

The industrial revolution in the eighteenth century, changed dramatically the way of
life for many americans. As fast food restaurants became a part of the american diet,

still are profitable and successful today, there is no doubt that these companies are

George Ritzer came up with the term McDonaldization of Society to explain a
sociological phenomenon occurring in society, and identified four important
principles; these include efficiency, calculability, predictability, and control. The first,
calculability, is defined as The optimum method of completing a task. The rational

41. The Jim Crow Rights
The shadow becomes known. Big groups, small groups, militants, and peacemakers,
strong, brave, marches and riots, boycotts... Leaders... Fighters... And Strong willed
individuals. That s who my ancestors of yesterday were and that s who I am today.
People think that president Lincoln, Congress, and the Emancipation Proclamation
freed all slaves, but it was Slaves who freed themselves from slavery. African
Americans always fought for their freedom, nobody gave it to us and we will
continue to fight until we get what we deserve. The emancipation proclamationdid
nothing for slavery but freed slaves that were already free for fighting alongside with
the north. Lincolns proclamation, freed not a single slave who was not already
entitled to freedom under legislation passed by congress the previous year. Without
protest, African AmericanKings and Queens wouldn t have the very little rights we
have today. Back then blacks were looked at as a piece of property not even entitled
to the pot they pissed in, but as times changed we started to gain and maintain. Nearly
100 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, African Americans in Southern states
still inhabited a starkly unequal world of disenfranchisement, segregation, and
various forms of oppression, including race inspired violence. Jim Crow laws
represented a formal, codified system of racial apartheid that dominated the American
South for three quarters of a century beginning in the 1890s. The laws affected almost

For my political campaign project, I partnered up with Christina in my class to
phone bank with Jane Kim s campaign for California State Senate. Jane Kim is San
Francisco s Supervisor of District 11. She is a more than a capable and qualified
candidate for the spot as a senator with her alma mater being Stanford University
and UC Berkeley School of Law. In 2010, she was elected onto the District 6 Board
of Supervisors and became the first Asian American candidate to win an Asian
district in the city. She was also the first Korean American elected official in the

Reading about the election process is different from actually being a part of it. I
only phone banked for 6 hours, at three hour intervals, and that was already tiring
for me having to speak to people on the phone every minute. Most of the calls I
made were either rejected or did not even go through, with the occasional hostile
receiver, but there were volunteers who volunteered every day of the week for full
shifts, which would be around eight hours. They probably had more than the
occasional disgruntled receiver wanting to be removed from the calling list or anti
Jane person. I always just assumed that there were computers or machines doing all
the hard labor of the campaigning processes, but there are actually real people
working and fighting for these campaigns. They do all the paperwork, reaching out,
and canvassing. They spend months and hours fighting for this cause or person, so
when they aren t successful, it is tough. I barely worked for more than half the time
that most of the volunteers worked for, and even I was disappointed with the results
of the election. I never really followed the elections before this project and my
American Democracy class, but I m definitely determined to start because of this. I
ve actually grown an interest in politics and would like to be a part of it in the future,

43. Compare And Contrast Anita Desai And Kamala
Markandaya
Anita Desai is more interested in the interior landscape of the mind than in political
and social realities. Writing, for her is an effort to discover, and then to underline,
and finally to convey the true significance of things . Her novels according to her,
deal with the terror of facing, single handed, the ferocious assaults of existence. Anita
Desai s protagonists are mostly women who, though they have reached different
stages in life from school girl to grandmother are all fragile introvert trapped in their
own skins. Their emotional trauma sometimes leads to violent death, in the end. As
an artist Kamala Markandayas fiction is concerned with change in feminine
sensibility brought about by the social, economic and cultural forces, whereas Anita
Desai s major concern is about exploration of the psychological condition of the
oppressed hyper sensitive women. The synoptic views of Anita Desai and Kamala
Markandaya s portray the women protagonists in terms of the shifting sensibilities
and changing attitudes of married Indian women. It also tries to analyze the portrayal
of women characters that belong to rural and urban upper classes of Indian society.

ASSIGNMENT #2 Through exploratory qualitative research and measurable
quantitative research, I will be discussing a final research document which will
consider implications of how thought processes work as well as progression groups,
and unique techniques through counseling will be applied to substance abuse, as
well as addressing how the thought process works and how emotions play a large
impact on personal recovery. In the Qualitative researcharticle titled A Cognitive
Behavioral Approach to Client Anxiety, Anger, Depression, and Guilt Kevin C.
Murphy (1980) discusses how counselors are often trying to find ways to address
ways to reach a client to help them through the thought process, through using
different therapeutic techniques... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another strategy goes into helping the client create a mental shield around them that
can t be broken down (Schimmel Jacobs, 2011). Other concepts that a counselor may
address is cultural aspects. (Jacobs, 2011) In a Qualitative article titled Managing
racial anger: A Critical Skill in Cultural Competence Alexis D. Abernethy (1995)
addresses how some ethnic populations may come to a therapy session having anger
as being the main complication. The issue might revolve around job discrimination,
job dissatisfaction etc. However, the counselor may show empathy before
understanding the client s situation or perspective, which may create a dilemma
(Abernethy, 1995, p. 97). Cultural aspects are not the only concept for those who
struggle with anger, Gender experience may also play a role. In a quantitative article
titled Sex Difference in the Relationship of Anger and Depression: an Empirical
Study Jody L. Newman, Elizabeth A. Gray, and Dale R. Fuqua (1999) go into detail
about a study that had been conducted on two different inventories. The two
inventories calculated the mean score between sexes and found that women scored
much higher on depression, however there was no difference between the six anger
scales that were considered between the sexes (Newman, Gray, Fuqua, 1999). Also in
consideration between the sexes a quantitative article titled Issues of anger in the
workplace; do gender and gender role matter? By Irene Gianakos (2002) goes into

Thesis Statement
There are various controversies surrounding Direct to consumer prescription

In the course of their lives, many individuals acquire various kinds and levels of
knowledge that organizations value. Additionally, through education, experience,
training, and natural predisposition, some individuals are able to demonstrate
different and greater skills than others. The worth to the organization of the
individually acquired and job required knowledge and skills is identified through job
rates of pay (Henderson, 2006). In order to construct a new pay structure and benefit
system we must first look at the five major components that will factor into our
decisions. These components are compensation and benefit philosophy, pay grades,
ratio of base pay to incentive pay, external equity and internal equity and other types
of benefits such as deferred compensation, health insurance vacation and sick leave.
There are a number of components that need to be addressed when developing your
compensation systems to ensure they align with your organizational strategy and
objectives. One key to remember is that your compensation strategy must help to
create the work culture you want. How you structure your systems and manage the
internal and external equity issues, will directly inform the culture of your
organization... A compensation philosophy is developed to guide the design and
complexity of your compensation programs; this is done by identifying your goals and

53. Wild West Show History
Wild West shows were the amusement parks of our time. They were full of fun
and entertainment. These shows were also responsible for the images of the Wild
West we think of today. In the book, True Grit, Mattie hears that Rooster Cogburn
is in a Wild West show. She goes to see the Cole Younger and Frank James Wild
West show and finds out that Rooster is dead. Wild West shows
were what shaped our
idea of the Wild West, our ideas of fun, and the name cowboy.
Wild West Shows were a form of entertainment composed of scenes from the early,
western United States. They included many sorts of back territory feats. Some of
them included horseback riding, marksmanship or sharpshooting, and rope twirling (
wild west show ). They traveled all over the United States to perform. They even
went to show a performance to the Queen of England ( A Brief History )! People
mostly came for entertainment, excitement, and thrill ( Wild West Shows ).
Buffalo Bill was the one who created these shows. William F. Buffalo Bill Cody was
born on February 26, 1846 in LeClaire, Iowa ( Buffalo Bill Cody ). At age eleven, he
moved away from his family to herd cattle and to work as a driver on a wagon train,

On Earth, scientists estimate that there are over
7,500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (seven quintillion, five hundred quadrillion)
grains of sand. It is believed that for each grain of sand on Earth, there are over
10,000 stars in outer space. A star is a luminous ball of plasma held together by its
own gravity. However, every starhas the same general chemical composition.
Despite the seemingly endless amount of stars in the sky, we can not yet see them
all, which plays a huge factor in the amount of stars we are able to observe. Each
day, light from distant stars is reaching Earth from stars that are millions of light
