Circe Of Aeaea Research Paper
The enchanting and comely sorceress Circe lived on the island of Aeaea. She welcomed Odysseus
sailors to her feast, but when they became greedy and devoured everything, she turned them into pigs.
They were treated like swine, placed in a pig pen and given fodder to eat. When Odysseus came to
rescue his men, she tried to turn him also into a pig, but he would not succumb to her dark magic as he
had been given a plant by Hermes to protect himself. Circe later went on to stay with Odysseus for
several years, until he and his men pleaded with her to return home. While he was leaving, Circe told
Odysseus only to descend to the Land of the Dead, and pay a visit to the blind prophet, Teiresias. I,
Circe of Aeaea, have often been portrayed as a cruel, monster who fed upon the misery of others. They
tell me that turning the men into pigs was evil and unnecessary. However, I must say, I did not do any
of this because I wanted to; I did it because they were behaving like untamable hogs and needed to be
punished. This is the real story of what happened, that fateful day when Odysseus, son of Laertes,
decided to pay me a visit. The rumblings began as a low moan, that slowly became louder and louder.
There were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At that moment, I realized that, the eminent Odysseus, the so called hero of the Trojan War, must have
been the leader of the men. He was obviously not here at the moment, for he would not have condoned
entering my lair, and would have been more circumspect than his men. It was only a matter of
moments, before he realized that something was wrong and that he would come begging to my door
for his men. Sooner rather than later, my suspicions were proven true as a handsome, muscular man
arrived at the front door of my hall. I cordially allowed him to enter, but he brushed away everything
and brusquely asked me Where are my

The Golden Age Of Sports In The Great Gatsby
The Golden Age of Sports
Sports brings out one s talents and achievement. However, sports can be a great way to just have fun.
During the world war one, many people have been unhappy. When the roaring twenties entered their
lives, they all started to have fun. The Golden Age of sports helped people develop their interest in
sports, recognize many sport stars and help develop women involvement in sports. The media
including, the news and radio, helped sports to get exposed. Since the United States had a strong
economy, people could afford to watch games during that time period, (Jeff A.L, Sports in 1920 s,
Roaring Twenties). Massive sports stadiums were built such as the Yankee Stadium and Madison
Square Garden. Everyone started enjoying baseball. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sports in the 1920 s had a significant connection to the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott
Fitzgerald. This novel, is about how one s happiness comes from their dream. In The Great Gatsby,
Jordan Baker and Meyer Wolfsheim both have contributed to the sports Era. Jordan Baker is a
wealthy, female athlete, who is also friends with Tom and Daisy. In the novel, Jordan was a well
known golf champion. This connects to women s involvement in the sports. Before this time period,
women did not contribute much to the era as, it was not ladylike to jump, sweat or play, (Jeff A.L,
Sports in 1920 s, Roaring Twenties). However, the talents of women were eventually recognized later
in the era. In the novel, Jordan Baker also becomes a well known female athlete. Achievement also
helps with women status in a society. After achieving, an individual becomes well recognized. For an
example, Nick says in the story, For a while I lost sight of Jordan Baker, and then in midsummer I
found her again. At first I was flattered to go places with her, because she was a golf champion, and
everyone knew her name , (Fitzgerald, 106). This shows how eventually, after a women achieves in
something, she will also have a better reputation in a society. Secondly, Meyer Wolfsheim was an
allusion to Arnold Rothstein. When Gatsby tells Nick about Mr. Wolfsheim, he mentions, He s a
gambler.

Print Media Press
46. Print Media (Press). The Government of India Act of 1935, gave a large measure of self
government to Indians but none of the major newspapers were owned or edited by Muslims .
However, when Indian Muslims began to organize and rally to the political platform of the All India
Muslim League, concerted efforts were made to develop a strong press to support the Muslim national
cause. A number of Muslim owned newspapers were established. Two English language newspapers,
Morning News in Calcutta and Dawn in Delhi, began publishing in 1942. In the late 1930s, the first
Indian Muslim news agency, the Orient Press of India, was founded. Important events unfolded as

a. On the eve of independence, however, only four major Muslim owned newspapers existed namely
Pakistan times, Zamindar, Nawa I Waqt, and Civil and Military Gazette, all located in Lahore. A
number of Muslim newspapers moved to Pakistan, Dawn began publication as a daily in Karachi on
the day of independence in 1947. Other publications were also shifted to Pakistan including the
Morning News and the Urdu language dailies Jang and Anjam .

Compare and Contrast the Views of Native Americans and...
During the 16th and 17th centuries, when the Europeans started to come over to the new world, they
discovered a society of Indians that was strikingly different to their own. To understand how different,
one must first compare and contrast some of the very important differences between them, such as
how the Europeans considered the Indians to be extremely primitive and basic, while, considering
themselves civilized. The Europeans considered that they were model societies, and they thought that
the Indians society and culture should be changed to be very similar to their own. The Europeans and
the Indians had very contrasting ideas of personal wealth and ownership. The Europeans believed that
only the rich should own land, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a very sharp contrast to the Europeans, whom had for centuries, been the top of their social
hierarchy. In Europe, the women had a very relatively primitive, limited role in society. They were not
allowed to attend or partake in political affairs, with very few exceptions. Now, on the other hand, in
Indian society there was a council of chiefs, whom was all male, but they were appointed by an elder
women. Also, during their deliberation over issues, the males made the final decision, but would be
expelled from the council, if they didn t conclude to the same decision that the elder woman came to.
The women s main job in Indian society, was being in charge of cultivation of, harvest of, and
distribution of food. When the men left to go hunting, women were left to run society. The Europeans
simply believed that the males were far superior to the family, which is why women could not have
jobs, and were left to only clean, cook, and various other household chores. Coming from an
economic standpoint, the Europeans and Indians were such total opposites, it often led to
misunderstanding. Indians had very large trading routes well before the time of European
colonization. Their experience in trade only made it easier to exchange goods with the Europeans. For
Indians, trading was a way to acquire goods they wanted, but also a way to share the wealth of their
land with other tribes that didn t have the same items to trade as they did. To the

Argument Of Cultural Relativism
Cultural Relativism
Cultural relativism is the way society separates right from wrong within a culture. What we describe
as good and bad is based off of our cultural beliefs. Cultural relativism argues that no culture is better
than any other and all their beliefs are equally valid. The way that modern society is has made it
possible for almost everything to be justified.
Three arguments that are against objective values were found on The Ethical Life by Russ Shafer
Landau (P. 205) textbook that identify two problems with the cultural relativist s argument are:
1. Morality is a product of culture,
2. Cultures disagree widely about morality, and
3. There s no clear way to resolve moral differences
These arguments were made by fictional Ima Relativist created by Harry Gensler. Ima Relativist
believes that morality is about objective facts. There is more to these arguments that once they are
well analyzed they are read differently with another meaning to them. These arguments are against
objective values. Since morality is a product of culture, there can t be objective moral truths (Shafer
Landau, P. 205). The problem with this quote is that what a culture produces can express truths about
how people live. Everything we say and do is based off our culture and what we were taught to do, yet
some express objective truths.
Since cultures disagree widely about morality, there can t be objective moral truths (Shafer Landau, P.
205). Just because there is some kind of

The Video Of The Lesson
Lesson Analysis
After reviewing the video of the lesson I recorded and analyzing the results, I feel very positive about
the lesson outcomes. Prior to the start of this lesson, each student completed the pre assessment.
Students were then placed in groups based on their readiness level. This assessment displayed the
need for differentiation during small group instruction. To begin the lesson I brought in a stuffed
chicken to use as a tool to introduce the concept of using digraphs. This activity seemed to start on a
positive note. The students were excited and seemed eager to learn. While I was discussing the ch
digraph found in the word chicken the students seemed to be fully attentive. I was impressed as to how
well they were listening. During guided practice, as a whole group the students practiced using
digraphs and learned the sounds they make using the website kidspiration.com on the Smart Board.
The students were actively engaged during this activity. It was apparent they enjoyed the integration
of technology within the lesson. They then participated in a digraph picture sorting activity. It was fun
to see students the students working collaboratively with each other to sort the pictures. After
reflecting on this portion of the lesson, I feel this is an area in need of improvement. I feel it would
have been more effective to break students up into smaller groups prior to completing the picture
sorting activity. Some students seemed to struggle staying on

Analysis Of Ender s Game By Orson Scott Card
Ender s Game is a science fiction novel written by Orson Scott Card and was published on January 15,
1985. The story follows Andrew (Ender) Wiggin, a genius boy who is chosen to attend Battle School
in hopes of being the savior of humanity against the alien buggers. Ender s journey from an outcast
into a commander seems to follow the steps of Joseph Campbell s hero s journey. Joseph Campbell
was a writer who discovered after studying stories, religions, and mythologies, noticed similar themes
and structures and wrote The Hero With A Thousand Faces (later renamed the hero s journey ). The
Hero s Journey described the steps he observed when reading about heroic journeys. The hero s
journey is made up of several phases such as an unusual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Add that up with being a third and Ender is already an outcast at age six. It was not his fault that he
was a Third. It was the government s idea, they were the ones who authorized it how else could a
Third like Ender have got into school? And now the monitor was gone. The experiment entitled
Andrew Wiggin hadn t worked out at all. If they could, he was sure they would like to rescind the
waivers that he had allowed to be born at all. (Card 5). The second stage of a hero s journey is the call
to adventure. Something happens that calls the hero away from their everyday life and into their quest.
For Ender, it was when Graff showed up at the Wiggin s home in chapter three. The removal of Ender
s monitor turned out to be the I.F s final test to see how Ender handled situations without the aid.
Graff arrives at the Wiggin residence to deliver the news and invites Ender to attend Battle School to
commence his training. It takes a bit to sway him but he ultimately agrees stating that he was in fact
born for the sole purpose. He leaves holding Colonel Graff s hand and Valentine crying for him to
return to her. The two steps of crossing the threshold and the challenges and trials fuse together during
the story. Ender crosses the threshold during the fourth chapter Launch, when he along with nineteen
other boys begin their journey to battle school. Already he is faced with a challenge. The two
unknown figures open up the fourth chapter discussing

Predicting Performance Of Post Graduate Education From...
Predicting performance in post graduate education from admissions information comparisons of health
professions with pharmacy
Richard E Wilcox, PhD* and Kenneth A Lawson, PhD ABSTRACT
Objectives. The goal of the present review was to assess the state of performance prediction in health
care programs generally, versus performance in pharmacy schools, using didactic and non didactic
admissions measures. This is important because clinical success represents a combination of skills that
are not fully predicted by either type of measure alone.
Methods. PubMed searches were conducted focusing on work published from 2000 onwards, since it
is during this period that non didactic admissions measures have come to be incorporated into the
applicant evaluation process. Relevant papers that were available as free full text were used. When
these papers were not available by direct import into EndNote, we went directly to the journal to try to
retrieve the paper.
Results. Published literature clearly showed that prediction of performance in the didactic portions of
health care programs is straightforward when based on pre health care GPA and achievement test
scores. The best predictions are achieved when both measures are combined. While significant
statistical prediction is achieved in virtually every study, the percent of total performance variance
accounted for is also consistent and uniformly small in the order of 25%. Similarly, there is now an
emerging consensus that

The Rage Against The Machine
It was a time of long hair and stealth window escapes at the midnight hour; a time of skipping class,
anti establishment sentiment spewing forth from my foul, juvenile, remorseless mouth. I was mad at
the world on the grounds that I felt as though I had been dealt a lousy hand in this life. In my infinite
teenage wisdom, I had convinced myself if I could not everything my way, I would set the world
ablaze and watch it burn. Full of aggressive energy, anger was the emotion with which I chose to
express myself. Naturally, I found fuel for the fire in a band named Rage against the Machine. Front
man Zach de la Rocha put the emotions I was experiencing into a lyrical poetic, militant, rap core
metal form. It was unlike anything I had ever heard before: pure, intellectual, and most of all,
unfiltered. Initially, I was drawn to Rage because of their sound and musical talent, with their
unparalleled ability to blend various genres of music and produce something authentic in a world of
simulacra. On the other hand, I had little knowledge of events, names, and issues that this band was
bringing to my attention: real life sociological issues like economic inequality, political prisoners held
captive in our own country, brute force control, and the reality that freedom is a hoodwink illusion.
These are topics that I have evolved to feel passionately about and of which I wish others were more
conscious and aware. Subject matters that are so heinous that one does not actually desire or

there have been many debates around the issues of labeling and its affects on children. The common
society would say that any negative labeling on children or adults such as: nerd, loser, fatty, etc. are

The Wechsler Individual Achievement Test Second Edition (WIAT II) has traditionally competed with
other popular achievement measures such as the Woodcock Johnson Test of Achievement Third
Edition and the Kaufman Tests of Educational Achievement Second Edition, particularly when
assessing children (Burns, p. 234). How the test works is that a child will take the assessment that
focuses on eight areas of achievement: oral language, basic reading, total reading, reading
comprehension and fluency, written expression, math, math fluency and total achievement. (Burns,
2010). Now, from there the results of the child s score would be analyzed to define the child s
strengths and weaknesses in the eight areas. The assessment can be given every year if necessary and

Essay about Nature and Humanity, a Comparison of Poems
When humans and nature come together, they either coexist harmoniously because nature s inhabitants
and humans share a mutual respect and understanding for each other, or they clash because humans
attempt to control and force their ways of life on nature. The poems, The Bull Moose by Alden
Nowlan, The Panther by Rainer Maria Rilke, Walking the Dog by Howard Nemerov, and The Fish by
Elizabeth Bishop, describe what happens when humans and nature come together. I believe that when
humans and nature come together they either clash and conflict because individuals destroy and
attempt to control nature, which is a reflection of their powerful need to control themselves, or
humans live peacefully with nature because not only do they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When the townspeople encounter the moose, they treat him as though he was their property because
they attempt to control and overpower the moose. For example, Nowlan uses the image of the men
pry[ing] open [the moose s] jaws with bottles to show how humans try to have power over the moose.
Although this image illustrates how humans are able to control the moose, I believe the use of the
word pry suggests that this control was not easy, but was rather hard and difficult, which further
suggests the idea that the moose and the townspeople are clashing rather than blending together. I
believe this situation suggests that humanity and nature will continue to clash because humans believe
that they are superior to nature, and therefore, they view nature as something they can control and
exploit. In addition, this situation reflects humanity s powerful need to control themselves because the
townspeople believe that by controlling the moose, they are able to keep not only the moose s wild
nature under control, but also they are able to control the wildness inside of themselves. Nowlan
further illustrates the townspeople s attempt to incorporate the wild moose into their society when he
uses a simile to compare the moose to a tolerant old collie. This comparison suggests that not only do
the townspeople believe that they can control a wild moose just

Impacts in these dimensions are two other ways of looking at the effects of the Olympic Games, but
note that earnings impacts already are included in the output impacts (although not separately stated)
and should not be added in again. Similarly, employment impacts are simply another measure of
economic impact and obviously should not be added either to the output or to the earnings impact.
The first column of Table 4 reports the total earnings impacts, including induced effects, for each
category of direct and indirect spending. Spending by ACOG (direct) will generate $1.1 billion in

A Better Understanding Of Free Will
Jesus with two complete and separate natures, fully man in every way except for original sin, and
Jesus Divine one with God the father and the Holy Spirit. We are created with a desire in our hearts to
be drawn to the father and to do his will. We have the stain of original sin on our hearts since the fall.
Jesus has free will, his free will is not quite the same as ours, we are weak due to sin and Christ free
from sin is not tempered by sin. The purpose of this paper is to have a better understanding of free will
and to help us to have a deeper and closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

The commercial was a parody of the book 1984. The commercial showed a young athletic woman
wearing bright red jogging shorts running toward a giant screen. The screen portrayed a man dictating
to hundreds of skinheads, and the girl ran up to the screen and broke it with a baseball bat. The
symbolism in this commercial was the main reason it was a pivotal portrayal of Apple in the media.
The symbolism of the giant man on the screen represented IBM, and the thousands of skinheads were
mindless consumers. Apple was the young athletic woman who broke the screen and freed the
thousands of skinheads from a life of monotony with PCs. This new commercial broke all the rules,
and the reaction has been, in a word, unprecedented, as stated by Steve Hayden in the San Francisco
Chronicle, 1984. This commercial was one of the most significant pieces of advertisement that Apple
could show, because it explained their philosophy in one fell swoop. This commercial informed the
public about what Apple really stood for rebellion. The people Apple markets toward are the creative
individuals. One of the former presidents for Apple products, Jean Gassee, was quoted April 18, 1996
in Rolling Stone saying, We must give our user pure sex. It s like a rendezvous in the back seat of an

Counselor s Assessment
In the lives of counselor s assessment plays a great role. Assessments are what shows the counselor
what it is that their client is in need of help in. Like our book states, assessment is a complex, problem
solving process that allows us to collect information in order to better serve our client (Drummond,
Sheperis, Jones, 2016). I was not aware of how involved counselors are in the testing process until I
began this class. I now see that assessments also helps the client understand their own problems as
well, it is just up to us to help them interpret the assessment. When using various assessments in
counseling, we have to be aware of our clientele and culture we are working in. As counselors, we are
to be conscious of controversies in assessments such as privacy invasions, bias test, and even the
pressure of the assessment of the children. We are there to help alleviate and to insure these problems
do not come to rise. Statistics in assessment is important because it enables us to keep track of how
well or below average a student or group of students are doing. Statistics is the number report that we
are able to visually see. Culturally, we would need to be aware of the customs, traditions, and values.
We need to be mindful of each student or client s uniqueness and be sure we are equipped with the
knowledge to help them through the assessment. Through the code of ethics and the legal issues we
are able to follow certain standards to prevent insulting or malpractice.

Dr. Douglas Roberts Wednesday, October 14, 2015 The Link between Population Growth and World
Health It is estimated that between the year 2014 and 2060, the U.S. population is going to increase
from 319 million to 417 million, reaching 400 million in 2051. The population in the U.S. is projected
to grow slower in the future decades, than in the recent past; assuming that fertility rates will continue
to decline and that there will be a modest decline in the overall rate of net international migration. One

The misuse of antibiotics is to blame, especially Beta lactam antibiotics, vitamin supplementation, is
also to blame including folic acid; vitamin D especially. Also to blame are novel vectors for sharing
pathogens including blood donation, and lastly the widespread adoption of compulsory mass
vaccinations. During the beginning of the twentieth century, infectious diseases were the leading cause
of death worldwide. Three diseases in particular in the United States caused 30% of deaths;
tuberculosis, pneumonia, and diarrhoeal diseases. However, by the end of the twentieth century, in
most of the developed world, the mortality from infectious diseases had been replaced by mortality
from chronic illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and stroke. In 2000, approximately 125 million
Americans, or 45% of the population, had chronic conditions and 61 million, or 21% of the
population, had multiple chronic conditions. According to a report in 2004, almost half of all
Americans, or 133 million people, live with a chronic condition. People with chronic conditions
account for 83 percent of health care spending and those with five or more chronic conditions have an

Positive Feedback and Classroom Environment Essay
Positive Feedback and Classroom Environment Student work is typically met by teacher feedback on
a number of important items, including his or her achievement, progress, and skills. How that
feedback is structured and delivered is a matter for debate among educators. The method and type of
feedback teachers use in response to appropriate or inappropriate student behavior shapes the
classroom environment (Conroy, Sutherland, Snyder, Al Hendawi, Vo, 2009). A potential role for
administrators is to prescribe and model effective feedback for teacher use within the classroom. This
administrative role broaches an important question: What constitutes effective feedback? For each

Effective praise has as much to do with systematic planning as it does with teacher willingness to
engage students in positive discourse. When teachers see a desired behavior exhibited in the
classroom, positive attention must be directed toward it, but the comments must be made with effort
and process in mind rather than overall achievement (Conroy et. al., 2009). Teachers must use praise
to influence students to continue displaying specific social or academic behaviors, but teachers should
initiate praise themselves rather than respond to students requests (Conroy et. al., 2009). In this way
teachers may develop intrinsic motivation in students to learn following recognition for mastery of
classroom tasks (Conroy et. al., 2009). The use of praise can differ, depending on the student, and the
results of praise use may differ in consideration of how praise is used. Many teachers have found that
when praise is used often instructional time increases dramatically along with student feelings of
worthiness and competency (Stormont Reinke, 2009). On the other hand, some believe that
introspection spurred by praise may lead to student attention on personal development rather than in
the context of the task giving way to decreased motivation (Lipnevich Smith, 2009). It is for this
reason credence must be given

Compare Chandragupta And Ashoka
Soft power gave Chandragupta and Ashoka legitimacy because they showed concern for the needs and
resources of people, so therefore everyone knew these leaders cared for the citizens.Chandragupta
Maurya and Ashoka were both rulers of the Mauryan Empire, which dominated most of South Asia
around 300 BCE. Chandragupta was the first ruler of this empire, and was guided by his father
Kautilya, who also wrote the Arthasastra. The Arthasastra instructed kings on how they should rule the
empire, and Chandragupta followed its guidance. Ashoka, on the other hand, was originally a power
hungry and selfish man, and he was known for killing and deporting thousands of people to conquer
Kalinga. However, after this massacre, Ashoka starting realizing how ... Show more content on

For example, in one of Ashoka s rock edicts, he describes how he wants medicine available for
everyone, and how he wants to import and grow medicinal herbs in areas where they are not
accessible. In the Mauryan Empire, many people, like today, did not have access to basic healthcare.
Ashoka believed this was wrong, and was compelled to end medical insufficiency. This shows how he
focuses on the needs of the people, believes everyone should have access to something as vital as
good medicine. Also, the second section of Book II of the Arthasastra explains how the king must
store items such as vegetables, timber, and metals in the forts so they can be used for years. Most of
these items are basic resources. Just like in the modern world, there were areas that lack access to
them. Chandragupta wanted to store these items so that everyone could enjoy them. This shows how
Chandragupta believed that having an abundance of resources for the people to use will be a good
thing, and that he wants all the citizens to have these staples. The people understood that their leader
believed everyone in the empire should have basic needs and his unselfish concern therefore appealed

Imagine trying to attend mass and being gunned down by the government s military. The impact
religion has on people s perspective had been seen as a threat by the government. In the film, Romero
directed by John Duigan, this issue of the Church s involvement in politics is displayed in El Salvador
in the year 1980. Archbishop Oscar Romero dedicated his life to the poor through the Eucharist and
his own views on politics changed as well. In the beginning of the film, Romero s good friend, father
Grande supports the poor people during a time of political tension. At first, Oscar Romero s opinion is
that the Church and the church officials should stay out of politics and just focus on doing their job.
Along with father Grande, other priests think that they should focus on helping the poor and taking a
side in the political battle. Shortly after, Romero is appointed to be the new Archbishop of El Salvador,
and because of this, people bring Romero gifts after his first mass as the official archbishop. ... Show

The fact that Romero s good friend, father Grande, is dead, changes his way of thinking dramatically.
Romero realizes that there is a major division in the Church, the rich and the powerful versus the poor
and the voiceless. This motivates him to give homilies about becoming united within the Church and
through the Eucharist. The Eucharist is a physical representation of Jesus Christ and we should be
united as one beneath Him. One example of unity through the Eucharist Romero tries to enforce is
when a rich woman asks for a private baptism for her child but Romero denies her and says everyone

How Does Harper Lee Use Metaphors In To Kill A Mockingbird

how the society back then killed tom just because they could not stand seeing a free black man. Even
with tom Robinsons wife Helen, she was left to fend for herself when tom was murdered. The main
problem with the American culture at the time was racial segregation, and people not being able to get

A Brief Note On Health Insurance And Insurance Essay
While on the topic of insurance, I will also need to start putting diverting some of my income to cover
health insurance, possibly disability insurance and even life insurance. I currently have an HMO plan

key factors I am using as I am looking for long term employment. Since I am a student, there are not
many individual insurance policies available so I am forced to pay extremely steep monthly rates, but
am hopeful that the health insurance offered through my future employer will allow me to receive
access to better doctors at a lower overall price. Just as auto insurance and renter s/home insurance is
needed to help offset the costs of accidents that may occur, the cost of not having health insurance is
much higher than the rates I am currently paying so not having insurance is not an option (not to
mention without health insurance, you now receive a fine.) I also would like to receive disability
insurance through my employer to cover lost income as a result of an accident, or illness. Other
sources of disability insurance are available through social security, worker s compensation, and
private insurance companies, but as I stated, I would accept these benefits through my employer,
social security or worker s compensation but I am unlikely to purchase my own individual disability
policy. I currently do not have a life insurance policy as I have limited assets and zero

General Electric And Transformation Of Company
This case study follows General Electric, and the transformation that company made over two decades
of business. General Electric was founded in 1878 by Thomas Edison, and according to the case study,
[GE] grew from its early focus on the generation, distribution, and use of electric power to become, a
hundred years later, one of the world s leading diversified industrial companies (Wozny, 2005, p.1).
General Electric grew its name in business through their work in power generation, lighting, and
household appliances. The case study also mentions that General Electric worked with aircraft
engines, medical systems, and diesel motors. GE was a company that was constantly changing and
adapting. It was in the 1950s, that the company had delegated work to hundreds of managers for
different departments of the company. In 1973 a new CEO came up the ranks of the company, Reg
Jones inherited the company and started a complete reorganization. According to the case study, Reg

The Biblical Foundation Of James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues
Sonny s Blues is one of James Baldwin s most famous short stories, and probably his most noteworthy
one. Countless people have analyzed the several obvious themes and concepts that are within Sonny s
Blues, like jazz music and the unnamed narrator. However, surprisingly, I have not found many
articles regarding the several religious and biblical references in my search, despite this themes
playing a major role in the short story. There are a few mentions of those references in some articles,
as James Tackach points out in his article The Biblical Foundation of James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues ,
but no in depth analysis of it or its significance to the story. It s not surprising that Baldwin would
incorporate his religion as a major part of his story. Many African American writers allude to the Bible
in their works. Much like most African American Christians, Baldwin was intimately acquainted with
the Bible. In fact, he became a member and preacher at his local Harlem church by the age of
fourteen. In his autobiography, he ventures to say that the King James Bible have something to do
with [him] today. Given the vital role of religion in African American writing, Baldwin s history with
the church, and even his own comments on the topic, it is puzzling that such few people have made
mention of the religious aspects of Sonny s Blues. Sonny s Blues is a modern day rewrite of the
parable of the Prodigal Son. That story from Saint Luke s gospel was told by Jesus in

Stereotypes Of Women In Math Essay
In the mathematical field there is an obvious differentiation between the amount of males and females
in the field. This might raise the question of why that is or if there even is a specific reason, well there
is, women are heavily pushed away from mathematical careers due to multiple factors. Although there
are not many females in the math field, the ones that are bring different ways of thinking into light
which helps the math careers grow and improve. Even though women do have different perspectives

They both have different ways of solving math and men most times have the advantage over women
due to the heavy impact of stereotypes on women. In the article Knowing is Half the Battle: Teaching
Stereotypes Threats as a Means of Improving Women s Math Performance it states that there are many
affects that stereotypes have on women that effect their performance including anxiety and other
affective and cognitive responses. (John) When stereotypes are put into play, they cause problems and
the people cannot perform properly because they start to believe the lies of the stereotypes. One thing
from New Trends in Gender and Mathematics Performance: A Meta Analysis writes that women
perform better in a setting where there are no stereotypes versus a setting that has stereotypes.
(Lindberg) This shows that college student women do not perform well when they are pressured by
the stereotypes people say to them, but when put in a place where there are no stereotypes pressuring
them they do better in their mathematical performance. Stereotypes are one of the main reasons that
females have trouble with competing against males, because they feel that they are not good enough.
Stereotypes are a huge problem when deciding what to do for a career, but when there is a way to

Analysis Of Peggy Mcintoth And Male Privilege
In Peggy McIntosh s White Privilege and Male Privilege, she as a white woman herself was one of the
first people to acknowledge that white privilege is a phenomenon that is commonly overlooked in the
white race and made a point to think of many instances where white privilege was prominent. Peggy
McIntosh defines white privilege as, an invisible package of unearned assets that I can count on
cashing in each day, but about which I was meant to remain oblivious. White privilege is like an
invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions, maps, passports, codebooks, visas, clothes, tools,
and blank checks . To interpret this, she is saying that white privilege is an unacknowledged idea with
so many different parts and pieces to it, it is hard to classify it as just one thing. When she goes on in
the article listing situations where because of white privilege she would not have to be concerned
about the outcome; example 41 stated, I can be sure that if I need legal or medical help, my race will
not work against me (McIntosh). This example can be related to Brock Turners case given the
situation of him having legal trouble and having more things go for him during his trial rather than
having people working against him. It seems that the white race lives focusing on normalcy and
convenience, that when they are in a situation to help others they aim to make them more like
themselves (McIntosh). It only makes me wonder, how do they act when a more serious situation such
as rape is introduced, how it affects them. It seems that in tough situations, white privilege itself works
to show dominance and power over certain groups.
In Allan R. White s article Privilege, he takes a similar stance to McIntosh in regard to the fact that
privilege does not take one specific form. Although White does not primarily focus on the aspects of
white privilege, it is important to understand both parts of the phrase to get an understanding of its
whole definition. It is helpful to look at the word privilege separate from race to understand the forms
it can potentially take. Allan White defines privilege as, A notion coordinate with right, duty, liberty,
power, and immunity that someone or something has in virtue of being singled

Vincent Van Gogh As A Craftsman
Vincent van Gogh, a standout amongst the most understood post impressionist craftsmen, for whom
shading was the central image of articulation, was conceived in Groot Zundert, Holland on March 30,
1853.The child of a minister, raised in a religious and refined climate, Vincent was exceptionally
enthusiastic, needed fearlessness and battled with his character and with course. He trusted that his
actual calling was to lecture the gospel; notwithstanding, it took a long time for him to find his calling
as a craftsman. In the vicinity of 1860 and 1880, when he at last chose to end up plainly a craftsman,
van Gogh had officially experienced two inadmissible and troubled sentiments and had worked
unsuccessfully as an assistant in a book shop, a workmanship sales representative, and an evangelist in

workmanship, resolved to give bliss by making excellence. Crafted by his initial Dutch period are

Social Stressors
Men are more vulnerable to various social stressors due to influence of internal psychology and
external gender roles. While males and females both experience social stressors that contribute to
suicide, data has shown that these social stressors have a stronger effect on males (Watt and Sharp,
2001). In particular, a statistical analysis on suicidal adolescents demonstrated that men are more
impacted by social strains related to esteem and status, known as status strains. One key social stressor
that is also tied to status trains is related to socioeconomic class. The suicide profile of a male
completer tends to be unemployed (Coleman, Kaplan and Casey, 2011). Using the analytical
psychological escape theory of suicide, it is possible to determine that perceived failure of failing
socioeconomically can contribute to suicide rates. Also, as stated earlier, the male gender role focuses
on being a provider. Not being able to fill that gender role can result in feelings of distress leading to
the act of suicide.
Occupations that are more often held by men, tend to put them at a higher risk of suicide. Men, in

there tends to be more social supports for women than men: men tend to be more isolated. Marriage is

social bonds in men. men in general have only their spouse who acts as a main social support in times
of distress. Meanwhile, women have many others to call upon in times of distress. This puts men at a
higher risk of suicide since one of their few social support systems will disappear after experiencing

immediately after the briefing had finally been concluded. Due to the fact that it was only a short walk
from where the projector room was, hardly any excuse given could be tolerated. And so, without

Tanja can only sustain a certain amount of injuries, but a well placed high caliber bullet or a
discharged laser or plasma shot is more than enough to kill her. Due to the fact that the casinos
targeted by both DHvKA and Dritte Zug had zero tolerance policies for not allowing pets inside, Tanja
had to be given a specially made Mk I b Fackelträger suit, custom tailored to fit her canine figure. For
her protection, the researchers at St. Margaret s Cellar developed a prototype Fackelträger suit, the Mk
I H (the H denoting the word Hund , or dog in German). Much like the model designed for human
wearers, this special canine model was a prototype that possessed all of the features found in Mk I B
suit. The result was a dog that could not be seen by normal people, visitors and employees alike,
CCTV security cameras and other mundane means of detection. Another type of equipment designed
for Tanja s personal use was the COR (Canine Optical Rangefinder), which is worn around her face
like a mask, allowing her to detect users of the Invisibility Anomaly and demonic entities aligned with
the Coven. Moreover, Tanja can also be equipped with a radio that is worn on her right ear, and can

Task 1 Health Indicators Of Wellbeing
Task 1:
Question 1 Health indicators of wellbeing
My question is:
If life expectancy is high in a given country will the income or GDP per person also be high
The two indicators that I have chosen are:
Life expectancy: The average number of years a newborn child would live if current mortality patterns
were to stay the same. Life expectancy is an indicator of wellbeing because the higher the GDP the
longer you will live because you can afford medicine and healthcare to take care of yourself and the
healthier your body is then the longer live. Docs.google.com, (2015).
GDP: Gross Domestic Product per capita by Purchasing Power Parities (in international dollars, fixed
2011 prices). The inflation and differences in the cost of living between ... Show more content on

Some reasons why there are differences between countries include the countries amount of wealth.
One country is more developed than the other, meaning that they would earn more money. In African
countries, they are having a more structured effort in their education. People will still go to school
even though they are already an adult; this is because they feel that an education is important.
Therefore, the answer to my question is no, a country does not need to have a high GDP to maintain a
high literacy rate.
Task 2: The Happy Planet Index (HPI)
The Happy Planet Index is the leading global measure of sustainable wellbeing. It records the
important information and indicators such as experienced well being, life expectancy and Ecological
footprints. It is different to other measures of wellbeing because it shows a very important aspect of
life, happiness. Other forms of measures just measure the wellbeing of people such as GDP rates and
life expectancy of countries. But the HPI measures the happiness of a country, this is good because it
could be compared with other indicators such as poverty and income. It shows that countries with a lot
of money will not always be

Dear Editor,
Re: Heart and Stroke foundation urges Ottawa to move quickly on e cigarettes (2014,Oct.03). I wish
to express my support for Heart and Stroke Foundation urging Ottawa to move quickly on regulating e
cigarettes; the same way as tobacco products was regulated, as published by the Canadian Press
because of its potential dangers to users.

The Federal Minister of Health Rona Ambrose has taken a positive step toward the right direction by
advising the federal standing committee on health to research into the possible hazard and gain of e
cigarettes ( The Canadian Press,2014) Due to the health concern and potential hazard to adolescents
the cities of York , Red Deer and Toronto have restricted smoking of cigarettes in open places. This is
a well come development that Ottawa can draw from to take steps on controlling e cigarettes. No
doubt, there is an urgent need for the government to regulate the manufacture, marketing and usage of
e cigarettes because the manufacturers of e cigarettes will not disclose the content of the cigarettes and
canisters. No wonder Olivia Rose (2014) concluded that other chemicals and the quantities included in
e cigarettes apart from carcinogen like formaldehyde are unknown. From the foregoing, it is pertinent
that the Canadian government regulate e cigerattes, because consumers don t know how much nicotine
or other chemicals exist in them, as well as the potential risk and hazards associated with them.
Yours

  • 2. Circe Of Aeaea Research Paper The enchanting and comely sorceress Circe lived on the island of Aeaea. She welcomed Odysseus sailors to her feast, but when they became greedy and devoured everything, she turned them into pigs. They were treated like swine, placed in a pig pen and given fodder to eat. When Odysseus came to rescue his men, she tried to turn him also into a pig, but he would not succumb to her dark magic as he had been given a plant by Hermes to protect himself. Circe later went on to stay with Odysseus for several years, until he and his men pleaded with her to return home. While he was leaving, Circe told Odysseus only to descend to the Land of the Dead, and pay a visit to the blind prophet, Teiresias. I, Circe of Aeaea, have often been portrayed as a cruel, monster who fed upon the misery of others. They tell me that turning the men into pigs was evil and unnecessary. However, I must say, I did not do any of this because I wanted to; I did it because they were behaving like untamable hogs and needed to be punished. This is the real story of what happened, that fateful day when Odysseus, son of Laertes, decided to pay me a visit. The rumblings began as a low moan, that slowly became louder and louder. It was only a matter of moments, before he realized that something was wrong and that he would come begging to my door for his men. During the world war one, many people have been unhappy. When the roaring twenties entered their lives, they all started to have fun. The Golden Age of sports helped people develop their interest in sports, recognize many sport stars and help develop women involvement in sports. The media including, the news and radio, helped sports to get exposed. Since the United States had a strong economy, people could afford to watch games during that time period, (Jeff A.L, Sports in 1920 s, Roaring Twenties). Massive sports stadiums were built such as the Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden. Everyone started enjoying baseball. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sports in the 1920 s had a significant connection to the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This novel, is about how one s happiness comes from their dream. In The Great Gatsby, Jordan Baker and Meyer Wolfsheim both have contributed to the sports Era. Jordan Baker is a wealthy, female athlete, who is also friends with Tom and Daisy. In the novel, Jordan was a well known golf champion. This connects to women s involvement in the sports. Before this time period, women did not contribute much to the era as, it was not ladylike to jump, sweat or play, (Jeff A.L, Sports in 1920 s, Roaring Twenties). However, the talents of women were eventually recognized later in the era. In the novel, Jordan Baker also becomes a well known female athlete. Achievement also helps with women status in a society. After achieving, an individual becomes well recognized. For an example, Nick says in the story, For a while I lost sight of Jordan Baker, and then in midsummer I found her again. At first I was flattered to go places with her, because she was a golf champion, and everyone knew her name , (Fitzgerald, 106). This shows how eventually, after a women achieves in something, she will also have a better reputation in a society. Secondly, Meyer Wolfsheim was an allusion to Arnold Rothstein. When Gatsby tells Nick about Mr. Wolfsheim, he mentions, He s a gambler. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Government of India Act of 1935, gave a large measure of self government to Indians but none of the major newspapers were owned or edited by Muslims . However, when Indian Muslims began to organize and rally to the political platform of the All India Muslim League, concerted efforts were made to develop a strong press to support the Muslim national cause. A number of Muslim owned newspapers were established. Two English language newspapers, Morning News in Calcutta and Dawn in Delhi, began publishing in 1942. During the 16th and 17th centuries, when the Europeans started to come over to the new world, they discovered a society of Indians that was strikingly different to their own. To understand how different, one must first compare and contrast some of the very important differences between them, such as how the Europeans considered the Indians to be extremely primitive and basic, while, considering themselves civilized. The Europeans considered that they were model societies, and they thought that the Indians society and culture should be changed to be very similar to their own. The Europeans and the Indians had very contrasting ideas of personal wealth and ownership. The Europeans believed that only the rich should own land, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was a very sharp contrast to the Europeans, whom had for centuries, been the top of their social hierarchy. In Europe, the women had a very relatively primitive, limited role in society. They were not allowed to attend or partake in political affairs, with very few exceptions. Now, on the other hand, in Indian society there was a council of chiefs, whom was all male, but they were appointed by an elder women. Also, during their deliberation over issues, the males made the final decision, but would be expelled from the council, if they didn t conclude to the same decision that the elder woman came to. The women s main job in Indian society, was being in charge of cultivation of, harvest of, and distribution of food. When the men left to go hunting, women were left to run society. The Europeans simply believed that the males were far superior to the family, which is why women could not have jobs, and were left to only clean, cook, and various other household chores. Coming from an economic standpoint, the Europeans and Indians were such total opposites, it often led to misunderstanding. Indians had very large trading routes well before the time of European colonization. Their experience in trade only made it easier to exchange goods with the Europeans. For Indians, trading was a way to acquire goods they wanted, but also a way to share the wealth of their land with other tribes that didn t have the same items to trade as they did. To the ... • 6. Argument Of Cultural Relativism Cultural Relativism Cultural relativism is the way society separates right from wrong within a culture. What we describe as good and bad is based off of our cultural beliefs. Cultural relativism argues that no culture is better than any other and all their beliefs are equally valid. The way that modern society is has made it possible for almost everything to be justified. Three arguments that are against objective values were found on The Ethical Life by Russ Shafer Landau (P. 205) textbook that identify two problems with the cultural relativist s argument are: 1. Morality is a product of culture, 2. Cultures disagree widely about morality, and 3. There s no clear way to resolve moral differences These arguments were made by fictional Ima Relativist created by Harry Gensler. Ima Relativist believes that morality is about objective facts. There is more to these arguments that once they are well analyzed they are read differently with another meaning to them. These arguments are against objective values. Since morality is a product of culture, there can t be objective moral truths (Shafer Landau, P. 205). The problem with this quote is that what a culture produces can express truths about how people live. Everything we say and do is based off our culture and what we were taught to do, yet some express objective truths. Since cultures disagree widely about morality, there can t be objective moral truths (Shafer Landau, P. 205). Just because there is some kind of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prior to the start of this lesson, each student completed the pre assessment. Students were then placed in groups based on their readiness level. This assessment displayed the need for differentiation during small group instruction. To begin the lesson I brought in a stuffed chicken to use as a tool to introduce the concept of using digraphs. This activity seemed to start on a positive note. The students were excited and seemed eager to learn. While I was discussing the ch digraph found in the word chicken the students seemed to be fully attentive. I was impressed as to how well they were listening. During guided practice, as a whole group the students practiced using digraphs and learned the sounds they make using the website kidspiration.com on the Smart Board. The students were actively engaged during this activity. It was apparent they enjoyed the integration of technology within the lesson. They then participated in a digraph picture sorting activity. It was fun to see students the students working collaboratively with each other to sort the pictures. After reflecting on this portion of the lesson, I feel this is an area in need of improvement. The story follows Andrew (Ender) Wiggin, a genius boy who is chosen to attend Battle School in hopes of being the savior of humanity against the alien buggers. Ender s journey from an outcast into a commander seems to follow the steps of Joseph Campbell s hero s journey. Joseph Campbell was a writer who discovered after studying stories, religions, and mythologies, noticed similar themes and structures and wrote The Hero With A Thousand Faces (later renamed the hero s journey ). The experiment entitled Andrew Wiggin hadn t worked out at all. If they could, he was sure they would like to rescind the waivers that he had allowed to be born at all. (Card 5). The second stage of a hero s journey is the call to adventure. Something happens that calls the hero away from their everyday life and into their quest. For Ender, it was when Graff showed up at the Wiggin s home in chapter three. The removal of Ender s monitor turned out to be the I.F s final test to see how Ender handled situations without the aid. Graff arrives at the Wiggin residence to deliver the news and invites Ender to attend Battle School to commence his training. It takes a bit to sway him but he ultimately agrees stating that he was in fact born for the sole purpose. He leaves holding Colonel Graff s hand and Valentine crying for him to return to her. The two steps of crossing the threshold and the challenges and trials fuse together during the story. • 9. Predicting Performance Of Post Graduate Education From... Predicting performance in post graduate education from admissions information comparisons of health professions with pharmacy Richard E Wilcox, PhD* and Kenneth A Lawson, PhD ABSTRACT Objectives. The goal of the present review was to assess the state of performance prediction in health care programs generally, versus performance in pharmacy schools, using didactic and non didactic admissions measures. This is important because clinical success represents a combination of skills that are not fully predicted by either type of measure alone. Methods. PubMed searches were conducted focusing on work published from 2000 onwards, since it is during this period that non didactic admissions measures have come to be incorporated into the applicant evaluation process. Relevant papers that were available as free full text were used. When these papers were not available by direct import into EndNote, we went directly to the journal to try to retrieve the paper. Results. Published literature clearly showed that prediction of performance in the didactic portions of health care programs is straightforward when based on pre health care GPA and achievement test scores. The best predictions are achieved when both measures are combined. While significant statistical prediction is achieved in virtually every study, the percent of total performance variance accounted for is also consistent and uniformly small in the order of 25%. Similarly, there is now an emerging consensus that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Rage Against The Machine It was a time of long hair and stealth window escapes at the midnight hour; a time of skipping class, anti establishment sentiment spewing forth from my foul, juvenile, remorseless mouth. I was mad at the world on the grounds that I felt as though I had been dealt a lousy hand in this life. In my infinite teenage wisdom, I had convinced myself if I could not everything my way, I would set the world ablaze and watch it burn. Full of aggressive energy, anger was the emotion with which I chose to express myself. Naturally, I found fuel for the fire in a band named Rage against the Machine. Front man Zach de la Rocha put the emotions I was experiencing into a lyrical poetic, militant, rap core metal form. It was unlike anything I had ever heard before: pure, intellectual, and most of all, unfiltered. Initially, I was drawn to Rage because of their sound and musical talent, with their unparalleled ability to blend various genres of music and produce something authentic in a world of simulacra. On the other hand, I had little knowledge of events, names, and issues that this band was bringing to my attention: real life sociological issues like economic inequality, political prisoners held captive in our own country, brute force control, and the reality that freedom is a hoodwink illusion. These are topics that I have evolved to feel passionately about and of which I wish others were more conscious and aware. Subject matters that are so heinous that one does not actually desire or ... Essay about Nature and Humanity, a Comparison of Poems When humans and nature come together, they either coexist harmoniously because nature s inhabitants and humans share a mutual respect and understanding for each other, or they clash because humans attempt to control and force their ways of life on nature. The poems, The Bull Moose by Alden Nowlan, The Panther by Rainer Maria Rilke, Walking the Dog by Howard Nemerov, and The Fish by Elizabeth Bishop, describe what happens when humans and nature come together. For example, Nowlan uses the image of the men pry[ing] open [the moose s] jaws with bottles to show how humans try to have power over the moose. Although this image illustrates how humans are able to control the moose, I believe the use of the word pry suggests that this control was not easy, but was rather hard and difficult, which further suggests the idea that the moose and the townspeople are clashing rather than blending together. I believe this situation suggests that humanity and nature will continue to clash because humans believe that they are superior to nature, and therefore, they view nature as something they can control and exploit. In addition, this situation reflects humanity s powerful need to control themselves because the townspeople believe that by controlling the moose, they are able to keep not only the moose s wild nature under control, but also they are able to control the wildness inside of themselves. The symbolism in this commercial was the main reason it was a pivotal portrayal of Apple in the media. The symbolism of the giant man on the screen represented IBM, and the thousands of skinheads were mindless consumers. Like our book states, assessment is a complex, problem solving process that allows us to collect information in order to better serve our client (Drummond, Sheperis, Jones, 2016). I was not aware of how involved counselors are in the testing process until I began this class. I now see that assessments also helps the client understand their own problems as well, it is just up to us to help them interpret the assessment. When using various assessments in counseling, we have to be aware of our clientele and culture we are working in. As counselors, we are to be conscious of controversies in assessments such as privacy invasions, bias test, and even the pressure of the assessment of the children. We are there to help alleviate and to insure these problems do not come to rise. Statistics in assessment is important because it enables us to keep track of how well or below average a student or group of students are doing. Statistics is the number report that we are able to visually see. Culturally, we would need to be aware of the customs, traditions, and values. We need to be mindful of each student or client s uniqueness and be sure we are equipped with the knowledge to help them through the assessment. The respect that Socrates has for his country was very the most important aspect in his conversation with Crito. Positive Feedback and Classroom Environment Essay Positive Feedback and Classroom Environment Student work is typically met by teacher feedback on a number of important items, including his or her achievement, progress, and skills. How that feedback is structured and delivered is a matter for debate among educators. The method and type of feedback teachers use in response to appropriate or inappropriate student behavior shapes the classroom environment (Conroy, Sutherland, Snyder, Al Hendawi, Vo, 2009). A potential role for administrators is to prescribe and model effective feedback for teacher use within the classroom. When teachers see a desired behavior exhibited in the classroom, positive attention must be directed toward it, but the comments must be made with effort and process in mind rather than overall achievement (Conroy et. al., 2009). Teachers must use praise to influence students to continue displaying specific social or academic behaviors, but teachers should initiate praise themselves rather than respond to students requests (Conroy et. al., 2009). In this way teachers may develop intrinsic motivation in students to learn following recognition for mastery of classroom tasks (Conroy et. al., 2009). The use of praise can differ, depending on the student, and the results of praise use may differ in consideration of how praise is used. Many teachers have found that when praise is used often instructional time increases dramatically along with student feelings of worthiness and competency (Stormont Reinke, 2009). On the other hand, some believe that introspection spurred by praise may lead to student attention on personal development rather than in the context of the task giving way to decreased motivation (Lipnevich Smith, 2009). There are a few mentions of those references in some articles, as James Tackach points out in his article The Biblical Foundation of James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues , but no in depth analysis of it or its significance to the story. • 33. Analysis Of Peggy Mcintoth And Male Privilege In Peggy McIntosh s White Privilege and Male Privilege, she as a white woman herself was one of the first people to acknowledge that white privilege is a phenomenon that is commonly overlooked in the white race and made a point to think of many instances where white privilege was prominent. Peggy McIntosh defines white privilege as, an invisible package of unearned assets that I can count on cashing in each day, but about which I was meant to remain oblivious. White privilege is like an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions, maps, passports, codebooks, visas, clothes, tools, and blank checks . To interpret this, she is saying that white privilege is an unacknowledged idea with so many different parts and pieces to it, it is hard to classify it as just one thing. When she goes on in the article listing situations where because of white privilege she would not have to be concerned about the outcome; example 41 stated, I can be sure that if I need legal or medical help, my race will not work against me (McIntosh). This example can be related to Brock Turners case given the situation of him having legal trouble and having more things go for him during his trial rather than having people working against him. It seems that the white race lives focusing on normalcy and convenience, that when they are in a situation to help others they aim to make them more like themselves (McIntosh). It only makes me wonder, how do they act when a more serious situation such as rape is introduced, how it affects them. It seems that in tough situations, white privilege itself works to show dominance and power over certain groups. In Allan R. White s article Privilege, he takes a similar stance to McIntosh in regard to the fact that privilege does not take one specific form. Although White does not primarily focus on the aspects of white privilege, it is important to understand both parts of the phrase to get an understanding of its whole definition. It is helpful to look at the word privilege separate from race to understand the forms it can potentially take. While males and females both experience social stressors that contribute to suicide, data has shown that these social stressors have a stronger effect on males (Watt and Sharp, 2001). In particular, a statistical analysis on suicidal adolescents demonstrated that men are more impacted by social strains related to esteem and status, known as status strains. One key social stressor that is also tied to status trains is related to socioeconomic class. The suicide profile of a male completer tends to be unemployed (Coleman, Kaplan and Casey, 2011). Using the analytical psychological escape theory of suicide, it is possible to determine that perceived failure of failing socioeconomically can contribute to suicide rates. Tanja can only sustain a certain amount of injuries, but a well placed high caliber bullet or a discharged laser or plasma shot is more than enough to kill her. Due to the fact that the casinos targeted by both DHvKA and Dritte Zug had zero tolerance policies for not allowing pets inside, Tanja had to be given a specially made Mk I b Fackelträger suit, custom tailored to fit her canine figure. For her protection, the researchers at St. Margaret s Cellar developed a prototype Fackelträger suit, the Mk I H (the H denoting the word Hund , or dog in German). Much like the model designed for human wearers, this special canine model was a prototype that possessed all of the features found in Mk I B suit. The result was a dog that could not be seen by normal people, visitors and employees alike, CCTV security cameras and other mundane means of detection. Another type of equipment designed for Tanja s personal use was the COR (Canine Optical Rangefinder), which is worn around her face like a mask, allowing her to detect users of the Invisibility Anomaly and demonic entities aligned with the Coven. Life expectancy is an indicator of wellbeing because the higher the GDP the longer you will live because you can afford medicine and healthcare to take care of yourself and the healthier your body is then the longer live. The Federal Minister of Health Rona Ambrose has taken a positive step toward the right direction by advising the federal standing committee on health to research into the possible hazard and gain of e cigarettes ( The Canadian Press,2014) Due to the health concern and potential hazard to adolescents the cities of York , Red Deer and Toronto have restricted smoking of cigarettes in open places. This is a well come development that Ottawa can draw from to take steps on controlling e cigarettes. No doubt, there is an urgent need for the government to regulate the manufacture, marketing and usage of e cigarettes because the manufacturers of e cigarettes will not disclose the content of the cigarettes and canisters. No wonder Olivia Rose (2014) concluded that other chemicals and the quantities included in e cigarettes apart from carcinogen like formaldehyde are unknown.
