The Cell Cycle And Dna Replication
Question 1:
a)
The two processes, with which a cell passes this DNA sequence onto other cells, are DNA replication
and mitosis. The cell cycle is inclusive of mitosis and DNA replication, the latter of which occurs in
the S phase (synthesis) of the cycle. The goal of the S phase is to create two identical semi
conservative chromosomes. The enzyme helicase unwinds the parental DNA double helix strand and
uses it as a template so the enzyme DNA polymerase can attach free floating nucleotides to the
separate DNA daughter strands using the complementary base pairing rule, in which A T and C G pair
together. In this way, the process of DNA replication is deemed semi conservative as one parental
strand is always passed on to daughter helix of DNA (Campbell Reece, 2005).
Now that the DNA has been replicated, mitosis can occur, which entails the cell (which now contains
two strands of identical DNA) undergoing nuclear division that results in the formation of two
genetically identical daughter cells (Tortora Grabowski, 2003). Mitosis is a process which consists of
five phases in itself; prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase/cytokinesis. The
duplicated chromosomes are now known as sister chromatids which are attached at a centre point
called a centromere. During prophase, these chromatids inside the cell condense and become tightly
coiled, and also, a mitotic spindle begins to form. In prometaphase, the nuclear membrane of the cell
fragments and one

The Treatment Of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Essay
Review of Literature
With the use of several different search engines such as Medline, UpToDate, The new England journal
of medicine, 2015 Toronto Notes, and Google scholar. The information was gathered using several key
wards such as anterior cruciate ligament injury, anterior cruciate ligament treatment, anterior cruciate
ligament rehabilitation.
The first study reviewed was a randomized control trial of treatment for ACL tears by, Frobell, Roos,
Roos, Ranstam, Lohmander (2010)
The two treatment modalities were early surgical treatment with rehabilitation, and aggressive early
rehabilitation; with the option for later surgery if needed. This compares the major differences in
thought on treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries between surgical and non surgical. (Frobell,
Roos, Roos, Ranstan, Lohmander, 2010)
This study was a randomized control trial in patients of 18 to 35 years of age, who presented to an
emergency department with recent rational knee trauma to a previously uninjured knee within the last
four weeks. Anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency was determined by clinical exam, and a score of
five to nine on a tenner activity scale before the injury. 5 indicating participation in recreational sports
and nine representing competitive sports. Possible participants were excluded if they had a full
thickness rupture seen on magnetic resonance imaging, or if they have had a previous knee injury.

Alcohol And The Social Network
In the study Alcohol and the Social Network: Online Social Networking Sites and College Students
Perceived Drinking Norms, Fournier, Hall, Ricke, and Storey studied the absence or presence of
alcohol content on social media and how it would effect the participants perceived drinking norms of
college students (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 86). Their hypothesis was that subjects that were in the
alcohol content group would estimate higher college alcohol norms than the group that did not see the
Facebook page with alcohol content in it (Fournier et al., Pg. 88). Another predicted, the drinker type
that the subject is (binge drinkers vs. non binge drinkers) would interact with the condition (non
alcohol content on Facebook page vs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
87). Therefore, the researchers created their study to see how the social networking content influences
college students alcohol use. In this study, the independent variables were the differences between
what was seen on the fictitious Facebook page, whether it included alcohol or non alcohol content,
and binge drinkers vs. non binge drinkers (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 89). The dependent variable is the
questionnaire that each of the groups took. It measured the following: personal alcohol use,
information about the fictitious profile, perceived drinking norms, and frequency and quantity in
which a student consumes alcohol per week (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 89). The fictitious Facebook
page only changed the content that was shown. In the study there were fifty seven participants; 39
female and 18 men, from the University in Midwestern United States. They recruited from an
introductory psychology class, and participants voluntarily signed up. The group was not as diverse,
but they were from different class years and aged from eighteen to thirty three. After the study was
over the participants were put into two groups: non binge drinkers and binge drinkers, based on their
answer on the questionnaire about how many drinks they consumed per sitting

The Scientific Method Of Experimental Testing
Answer #1
Scientific Method
The scientific method can be defined as a technique for research where the problem is known,
appropriate data is gathered, a hypothesis is formulated from the data, and the hypothesis is tested
firsthand. Gauch (2003) defines the scientific method as a highly variable and creative process and
states that it is often misrepresented as a fixed sequence of steps although the scientific method of
research has four steps. The first step is the observation, which serves as an act of recognizing and
noting a fact or occurrence often involving measurement with instruments. The second step is the
hypothesis, which is a tentative assumption made to draw out and test its logical and empirical
consequences. The third step is experimental testing, which is when you apply a test to analyze or
diagnose. The fourth step is predictions, which is when you declare or indicate in advance or predict
the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason.

Artificial Neural Networks ( Anns )
Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are computational algorithms loosely based on the human
biological nervous system which work to model statistical data. An ANN consists of processing
elements known as neurons that are interconnected to each other and work in unison to answer a
particular problem [, and] can be used in places where detecting trends and extracting patterns are too
complex to be detected by either humans or other computer techniques. Although recent in their
explosion in popularity, the underlying logic behind ANNs have existed for nearly a half century ,
however due to the pervasive and ubiquitous adoption of powerful computational tools in our
contemporary society, ANNs have had a sort of renaissance, much to the avail of scientists, engineers,
and consumers.
The current cutting edge in deep learning and ANNs focuses highly on both their ability to model and
interpret complex data, and their ability to be put to scale due through optimization and parallelization.
The current framework for designing ANNs is one that is widely available, with a myriad of tools
facilitating their development. Python, C++, Google s Tensorflow, Theano, Matlab, and Spark all
contain a robust set of mathematical operations which necessitate ANNs. Due to the algorithm behind
ANNs, the models are inherently apt in extract[ing] meaning from imprecise or intricate problems .
Speaking reductively, ANNs are data modeling tools which are trained on a given dataset, and can

Wealth, Wisdom And Weakness Of King Solomon
The Wealth, Power, Wisdom and Weakness of Solomon
Throughout history there have been many different types of leaders. There have been kings, emperors,
pharaohs, presidents, dictators, and tyrants who have led many countries and nations. Rulers can be
beneficial, malevolent, kind, brutal, or completely ineffective. King Solomon was a very rich, wise,
and famous king of ancient Israel. He was the son of King David and Bathsheba. Bathsheba wanted
her son to rule, so David had Solomon anointed king before he died. David s older son, Adonijah,
wanted his father s kingdom and threatened Solomon s throne. So Solomon sent a messenger to kill
Adonijah and his allies, thus securing his throne. Solomon overcame the last potential threats to his
kingdom by killing his brother and his brother s allies. King Solomon then secured his throne by
appointing his friends to high positions of power. The author of the book of Kings, in the Bible, is
unknown, or anonymous. It is likely that during Solomon s reign Israeli history started being written
down. It is also likely that a Hebrew wrote the book of Kings due to a bias in favor of Solomon.
Hebrews had a very positive view of Solomon because he built The First Temple which housed the
Arc of the Covenant, a vital relic to the Hebrew people said to contain the Ten Commandments. It
took him seven and a half years to build this Temple to honor their one, true God. King Solomon s
reign is thought to be circa 965 B.C. to about 927 B.C. As the son of David and chosen heir to the
throne, Solomon was made King towards the end of his father s reign, while David was still alive.
Solomon inherited a very large kingdom from his father.
Solomon accumulated enormous wealth. He controlled the entire region west of the Euphrates and had
peace on his borders...He had a large share in the trade between northern and southern countries. He
established Israelite colonies around his province to look after military, administrative and commercial
matters (Jewish).
Solomon was extraordinarily wise in how he set up his kingdom. He made sure to establish peace with
the surrounding countries so that he could trade with them and gain more profit. He divided his
kingdom wisely so that he could rule

New Tactics During The Civil War
The introduction of steam and iron reshaped and defined new tactics during the 1815 1866 time period
with emphasis on the Civil War. Primarily, the invention of the steam engine and rifled artillery forged
from iron would define a new tactical advantage for both Confederate and Union Armies.
Furthermore, these two new inventions would also greatly increase the effects of speed, lethality, and
mass at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels during the Civil War.
Prior to the Civil War during the Napoleonic era, artillery was a smoothbore weapon system primarily
forged with bronze. These systems were very large, cumbersome, horse drawn and difficult to move
into battle. However, near the end of the Napoleonic Era the Gribeauval system would improve
cannon systems by casting them out of a solid piece of bronze, and boring out the center. This new
Napoleonic invention increased range and accuracy, ultimately, establishing the cornerstone of rifled
artillery.1
During the beginning of the Civil War the Army Ordnance Board attempted to apply rifling to bronze
bore cannons. Nonetheless, this form of rifling would prove unsuccessful, as the bores were shot out
in less than 500 rounds. However, Phoenix Iron Works of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania would alter the
rifling design by casting cannons out of iron with rifled iron banding in the bores. This new form of
cannon development caused little wear on the cannon bores, vastly extending tube life. Furthermore,

2016 Travel Luxe Report
2.3 The travel trends of global tourism
The world is getting even more connected year by year. Cheap flights provided by low cost carriers
make weekend breaks in foreign destinations easier than ever, and smart translation apps, map apps,
and international hotel booking web pages are eliminating language barriers. We could also see an
increase in international business travel due to globalization and an increase in multinational
organizations.
Some people are easy to be tired of the city which they currently live, therefore, they would like to go
travel as long as they have enough time and money to afford the trip. There is a notable trend of
tourists wanting to unplug and absolutely sign off from work on a holiday. This tendency is only rising
further.
According to Virtuoso s 2016 Travel Luxe Report, tourists are looking for opportunities to explore
lesser known destinations, especially those that are untouched or uncommon. Lots of tourists wish to
explore new places, create eventful memories, cross something off their bucket list and push the
frontier of their comfort zone.
The developing countries market for tourism is the fastest growing tourism source in the last decade.
Take Chinese market as an example, it had spent $498 billion in 2014 on outbound travel.
Young travelers, which count for about 20% of the world s tourists place greater importance on the
tourism industry. They travel to broaden their horizons and to gain the knowledge of the world. By

These twelve jurors had so much about themselves that was alike and in some ways they were all
different.
In this case, the juror 3 and juror 8 are very different. Juror 3 appears to be a very intolerant person
also he is known as a bully. On the other hand juror, 8 is an open minded individual that always listens

someone looks at the phone and concentrates on the text messages, they will become distracted from
driving. Distracted drivers can cause car accidents and injuries or death to themselves or others.
Texting causes delayed reactions, which increase the chance of getting into an accident. According to
Cary Aspinwall, when texting while driving, drivers take their eyes off the road for 4.6 of 6 seconds. A

Dante s Journey Of Salvation
As Dante makes his ascent through hell and purgatory, he is guided by two figures. The first is Virgil,
who saves him from peril and accompanies him, as a friend, through the layers of both afterlifes. The
second is Beatrice, who inspired Dante s journey of salvation in the first place, and who he longs to be
reunited with. Yet although these guides are leading him towards God, Dante mistakes their guiding as
the end itself. He makes a God of Beatrice, sees her as the ultimate good towards which one strives,
and makes a Jesus of Virgil, the man through whom this ultimate good is reached. In this way, Dante
creates his own trinity, much to the detriment of his ascent to the True God.
His first mistake, through which the others stem, is equating Beatrice to God. While she was alive, her
beautiful eyes and lovely limbs were the only things keeping him on the holy path. This is clear when
he confesses Things set in front of me, / with their false delights, turned back my steps / the moment
that Your countenance was hidden (Purgatorio.31.34 36). He could have avoided traveling through the
afterlifes had he not overvalued her in the first place. In fact, even when he is promised redemption
through his journey, it takes Virgil mentioning Beatrice as the end goal of his journey to persuade
Dante to begin the undertaking (Inferno.2.57 126). Dante still sees Beatrice, rather than God, as the
end towards which he strives. For her sake alone he goes down into the deepest pits of

Fallacies in a commercial Essay
Romney Killed My Wife
In political races in the United States logical fallacies are a staple in political ads. The 2012 election
was no exception to this convention, especially being true in an advertisement with ex steel plant
worker Joe Soptic, speaking in Obama affiliated Political Action Committee Priorities. The
advertisement included many logical fallacies to argue against the Romney campaign. Those include
post hoc reasoning, ad hominem, and slippery slope.
The advertisement consisted of just one man, Joe Soptic, an ex steel plant worker, of GST Steel,
speaking against Mitt Romney. He personally points blame on Romney for the death of his wife. He

In addition there was a caption in the video short after the previous statement by Soptic, claiming that
Mitt Romney and Bain Capital made millions for themselves and then closed the plant. This is
implying that Romney and Bain Capital are greedy. This has no relation to the topic of Romney s
political views and is merely an attack on character. Furthermore the advertisement ends with Soptic
stating that he does not think that Mitt Romney is concerned about the well being of workers of the
plant.
The last piece of logical fallacy that is present in the advertisement of 2012 is slippery slope. This is
when it is asserted that one event will inevitably be followed another with question or argument.
Slippery slope is implied in this advertisement in the way that if Romney is in charge, he will shut
down businesses, which will disable people to receive health insurance, which will cause many deaths.
This is improbable in the way that one event does not necessarily cause the other and predominantly,
is highly unlikely.
Logical fallacies are common in the political races in the United States, whether they re in
advertisements or in a speech given by a candidate. During the presidential election of 2012, logical
fallacies seemed to be more

Analysis Of The Second Sex By Simone Beauvoir
Another thing that womanhood or motherhood encapsulates in this novel is the choice to choose
between staying in a polygamous marriage or walk out, without being seen as weak or revolting.
Ramatoulaye is portrayed as an example of individual identity and choice. She chooses to marry
Modou against her family s wishes (Letter 16); And when confronted with the same dilemma as her
friend Aissatou a polygamous husband, she chooses a different path she looks inward, cut her loses
and makes the decision that seem unreasonable to others even her children. She knows that after thirty
years of marriage and twelve children, putting herself on the dating scene would be a waste of time.
She knows according to the woman in Simone Beauvoir s book, The Second Sex, her flesh is no
longer bounties for men (590), and even when her neighbor Farmata, the griot encourages her leave
her marriage, Ramatoulaye knowing herself more than anyone else, she writes I looked at myself in
the mirror. My eyes took in the mirror s eloquence. I had lost my slim figure, as well as ease and
quickness of movement...I could not delude myself: youth was deserting my body (Letter 41). I see
the internalized patriarchal value that a woman needs a man to survive in this portion of the letter. If
remarriage is not the priority of an abandoned woman, the society has no right to force her to, or
berates her for choosing to stay single.

Cost of education makes it hard for them because they do not have the money for textbooks or bus

with factual errors, inappropriate illustrations, and problems with readability, due to factual and

The language of the text creates confusion because it differs greatly from one grade to another and

Labor Unions And The Labor Union
Every year in this country, there are major labor disputes that result in strikes or work stoppages. In
each case, the organization, the labor union, and the public are negatively affected. Why can t there be
a better way of resolving disputes between the management and labor unions to avert unnecessary
strikes? Why does the relationship between the labor unions and management have to be adversarial in
nature? Does anybody benefit from strikes and work stoppages? These are some of the questions that I
will explore in this study. Firstly, it will seem that the management and the labor union of any
organization have a stake in the success or failure of that organization. The success of the organization
has to be the priority or the number one goal of any member or members of the organization. As such,
the entire organization has to work as a team in order to succeed, thrive and survive. In the real world,
that is not what is happening. As a matter of fact, the labor unions and the management of some
organizations see each other as adversaries. MTA Strike of Year 2000 The year 2000 saw a disastrous
labor strikes in Los Angeles County. The United Transportation Union (a labor union) of The
Metropolitan Transportation Authority of Southern California (MTA) went on strike that lasted for
almost six weeks. A lot of people thought that the strike was unnecessary and could have been
avoided. The management of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of Southern

Hart Crane s Influence On Make It New
Among the innumerable modernist poets that successfully encompass Ezra Pound s slogan, Make It
New, Hart Crane best embodies this mindset with his innovative poetry. However, Make It New does
not imply that the ideas must be completely original. Very well read, Crane and his poetry were
influenced by many, ranging from foreign writers, such as William Shakespeare and Charles
Baudelaire, to other writers of his time, such as T.S. Eliot. By merging already recognized ideas of
renowned writers along with his own creativity, Crane conveys a sense of familiarity, allowing readers
to grasp onto traces of acquainted aspects as they attempt to make sense of his otherwise profound
poetry. While borrowing others ideas may seem far from innovative, ... Show more content on

To Brooklyn Bridge was directly inspired by T.S. Eliot s The Wasteland and Walt Whitman s Crossing
Brooklyn Ferry, but the poem itself does not contain words or phrases that directly correlate to those
specific poets and their respective poems. Instead, the overall atmosphere of the poem may remind
readers of Eliot and Whitman. First of all, once again according to the anthology, To Brooklyn Bridge
is a hopeful reply to The Wasteland, where Eliot writes of a fractured world, a perspective Crane
shares, but his response paints a more optimistic picture. Crane accomplishes this by using the
Brooklyn Bridge as its prime symbol... to restore meaning and unity to a fragmented and dissonant
modern world (Axelrod 626). The Bridge is a manmade effort that is capable of connecting the
fragmented world. This hope is also reminiscent of Whitman s ideas of an idealistic and unified
America. Yet, a more significant influence from Whitman is the theme of repressed homosexuality
that is present in the poem. With both poets being homosexual, it is no surprise that Crane was
influenced by Whitman. The second to last stanza

Extraction of Metals
Extraction of metals
The History of Metals.
Metals have been used by people for many thousands of years. Gold and silver, found as native metal,
were used both as jewellery and as a status symbol nothing new there. These metals were known in
the Stone Age, but gold and silver are too soft to be used as tools.
The first really useful metal to be discovered was bronze. This began the Bronze Age. Bronze was
used extensively for tools and weapons in Asia and Africa from 4,500 B.C. (6,500 years ago) and in
Britain from 2,000 B.C. (4,000 years ago). News of the new material travelled slowly in those days
and it took the Brits 2,500 years to get the message.
Bronze is not an element (like gold and silver) but an alloy (metal mixture) of ... Show more content

The same can be said of metal extraction. Metal extraction can drastically affect the quality of air in
the surrounding areas, what with the high levels of dust and gas in the area. There s also the noise
pollution that it creates, which is affecting the natural habitat of animals. Last, metal extraction
disfigures the landscape.
Now, if companies continually extract metal, the land will forever be disfigured, causing flooding and
soil erosion in the area. It will also cause large scale natural habitat destruction, causing so many
species to be uprooted. There s also the air and water pollution to consider.
Economic Impact of Metal Extraction
It is a fact that mining, extracting, refining, and purifying metal will cost a lot of money. There are
different types of metal, and they need different methods of extraction. Now, the methods of extracting
metal do not come cheap, nor does refining and purifying metal. Not only will you need special
equipment for their extraction, but you will also need other elements as well such as copper, zinc,
mercury, among others, for the purification and refinement processes. Some of these elements are very
harmful and toxic not only to humans and animals but to nature as well, worsening the environmental
impact of metal extraction.
Aside from this, you also have to think of the transportation costs of extracted metal.

The Role Of Role Playing In Hamlet
O, that this too too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw and resolve itself into a dew, Or that the Everlasting
had not fixed His canon gainst self slaughter! O God, God, How weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable
Seem to me all the uses of this world! (Act 1 Scene 1, Hamlet) Hamlet s idea of role playing was truly
important to Hamlet in the play, because it was his way of conducing revenge, for his father s death.
Hamlet acted deranging and irrational throughout the whole play, to cover up his capacity of killing
Claudius, who was the killer of his father, King Hamlet. Hamlet s actions of insaneness, led him to
committing many mishaps in the play that completely disarranged his objective of obtaining revenge
against Claudius. However, due to Hamlet s exploitation in role playing in the play, it precipitated him
into temporizing and delaying his ability to obtain his revenge, which effected many characters along
the way. Characters like Polonius, Ophelia, Laertes, Gertrude, and Claudius suffered dramatically
throughout the whole play, because of Hamlet. Polonius and Ophelia were one of the two main
characters in Hamlet, who suffered drastically from Hamlet s role playing throughout the play.
Polonius was Ophelia s father, who was killed by Hamlet, because Hamlet mistakenly stabbed
Polonius to death, believing that he was Claudius, when Polonius was hiding behind the arras in
Gertrude s chamber. Nonetheless, after stabbing Polonius and relieving that it was indeed

Eulogy For Olympias
Olympias seated from the clouds in her usual spot, watched the little specs of people in all different
extravagant colors, run through their everyday schedules. She adored the people of Athens, who would
go about their everyday actions, buying things from the market, children playing, adults talking,
Olympias loved it all. The people of Athens brought joy to Olympias s heart. People at the time never
seemed to rush or worry about whether they would be late for work or how much time they had left to
play. Each one was always joyful and happy, no one knew about time. Soon they would, and Olympias
knew this. There was no such thing as the sun or moon, it was never light nor was it dark. This would
seem to be odd to people now, but in Ancient Greece, no one knew better. They had never heard of
anything called time, or the sun and moon. Everything was always the same, no light nor dark, no
time, and no worry. Athens was beyond compare to any other place, but there was soon to be and
unexpected visitor. His name was Aristarchus. Maybe he was good or maybe he was ... Show more

After she grabbed the clock, Aristarchus threw the potion straight at her. She had no idea what the
potion was for or what it did, but she automatically knew it was bad. Before Olympias even had a
chance to react Eurydice jumped in front of Olympias, the potion shattering all over her. Eurydice fell
to the ground, crippling into a ball. Olympias, enraged with anger, shot an iron cage on top of
Aristarchus, imprisoning him. Olympias wept as Eurydice at the loss of her bright, beautiful friend. An
idea suddenly started to form in Olympias s head as she looked from the bright nymph to the dark god.
She would place Eurydice in the sky beside her to warm the people and give them light, and she
would place Aristarchus in his prison in the sky to provide sleep and darkness to the people. They
would be called the sun and the moon, and man would finally learn about

Difference Between Adam Smith And David Ricardo
Introduction
Wealth of Nations (1776) by Adam Smith and Principles of Economics (1951) by David Ricardo
heralded the formulation international trade theories. To Adam Smith it was the division of labor that
reduces cost production and that would ensure competitiveness in the international markets. Smith
contended that the problem of monetary adjustment to countries having continuous trade surplus could
be solved by automatic adjustments. Basic premises of the trade theory were formulated by David
Ricardo. Free trade theory as opposed to Mercantilists trade protection was championed by Adam
Smith and David Ricardo. For Smith and Ricardo free was mechanism to increase the productive

When demand elasticity for the same good is different in different countries there is a possibility of
subsidized exporting of goods. There is one more possibility that there are some countries that are
historically above others and have cost advantage of producing some goods and they can offer goods
at lower price than others. In such as situation countries will provide subsidies to industries whose cost
of production is high to enable them to reap the benefit of scale economies. This will pave ways for
advanced countries to follow aggressive strategic trade. A vagary of history determines what a country

determining the location of production in the world map Krugman, 1994). Economists suggested that

Colombia Persuasive Essay

When I was reading the newspaper the other, I saw headlines about Donald Trump in Nevada and the
GOP debate. But I didn t find a single that mattered, a single article that showed what s happening in
this world. We are covering up a burnt cake with icing. Not one article talked about a problem
humanity is facing right now. Right now and for the past 70 years Colombia has been in a great trail
for justice. The corrupt government, which does not recognize the war in public and the FARC rebels
who are using atrocious ways to try to fight the government are abusing the citizens and using them as
martyrs for their personal goals. On top of this already serious predicament, The assassination rate of
unionists that are trying to stand up to these malfeasances is increasing staggeringly every year. Ladies

Analysis Of The Political Cartoon
The political cartoon uses several outlets to reach its audience. It is describing the turmoil with the war
in the Middle East and discussion of feminism. It does this in the following ways; through the
audience its speaking to, the message it wishes to instill on them, symbols, and emotions.
I believe the artist of the political cartoon was sending a message to young women that want to be
treated equally as men. As shown in the cartoon, women are already in the front lines in battle. Heads
over the military declare that soon women will serve on front lines alongside their fellow man. The
cartoonist explains through his drawing that women are already fighting on the front lines. They want
the American public to know that they take care

The roots of the White Australia policy can be outlined to the 1850s. Until the White Australia s policy
was abolished in the twentieth century, Australia was officially defined as white. Aboriginal and
Torres Strait islander people were not considered the part of White Australia, and indigenous Studies
was not required in the school curriculum. This meant schooling was culturally unsuitable for
indigenous students. Furthermore, the Australian students were not educated to appreciate Indigenous
cultures either in past or present. Aboriginal Studies is about social justice for all Australians equity,
human rights, a fair go and mutual respect for our fellow Australians. It is hard to define social justice
but everybody knows what it is, particularly when it is missing ( Craven, 2011, p 3).

The Pros And Cons Of Poverty In The United States
Poverty rates in the United States are at their highest in the extremely urban and truly rural areas of the
country. However, poverty rates, as measured by the Department of Agriculture s Economic Research
Service, are higher in non metro areas as compared to metropolitan centers. The demographics of
poverty offer insight for future policy considerations to both public administrators and policy writers
beyond the demographics of simply rural versus metro citizens. For example, in 2016 rural White
citizens were half as likely to live in poverty as either Black or Native American citizens. In addition,
a female head of household in a rural area is nearly eight times as likely to live in poverty as a married
couple. Couple these demographics with the fact that only 46 million citizens live in nonmetro areas
roughly 15% of the national population it is not surprising that rural areas seem to receive less
attention by federally elected officials than urban and suburban areas with few, if any, programs
geared specifically to known problem characteristics. At the county level, poverty as defined by the
US government is an immensely rural problem, with the most remote rural places at the greatest
disadvantage. It would seem obvious that where and how an individual lives would matter in a person
s ability to rise above the poverty level. However, federal policy that addresses poverty is not specific
to rural areas or metropolitan areas an instead is agnostic to

  • 2. The Cell Cycle And Dna Replication Question 1: a) The two processes, with which a cell passes this DNA sequence onto other cells, are DNA replication and mitosis. The cell cycle is inclusive of mitosis and DNA replication, the latter of which occurs in the S phase (synthesis) of the cycle. The goal of the S phase is to create two identical semi conservative chromosomes. The enzyme helicase unwinds the parental DNA double helix strand and uses it as a template so the enzyme DNA polymerase can attach free floating nucleotides to the separate DNA daughter strands using the complementary base pairing rule, in which A T and C G pair together. In this way, the process of DNA replication is deemed semi conservative as one parental strand is always passed on to daughter helix of DNA (Campbell Reece, 2005). Now that the DNA has been replicated, mitosis can occur, which entails the cell (which now contains two strands of identical DNA) undergoing nuclear division that results in the formation of two genetically identical daughter cells (Tortora Grabowski, 2003). Mitosis is a process which consists of five phases in itself; prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase/cytokinesis. The duplicated chromosomes are now known as sister chromatids which are attached at a centre point called a centromere. During prophase, these chromatids inside the cell condense and become tightly coiled, and also, a mitotic spindle begins to form. In prometaphase, the nuclear membrane of the cell fragments and one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Treatment Of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Essay Review of Literature With the use of several different search engines such as Medline, UpToDate, The new England journal of medicine, 2015 Toronto Notes, and Google scholar. The information was gathered using several key wards such as anterior cruciate ligament injury, anterior cruciate ligament treatment, anterior cruciate ligament rehabilitation. The first study reviewed was a randomized control trial of treatment for ACL tears by, Frobell, Roos, Roos, Ranstam, Lohmander (2010) The two treatment modalities were early surgical treatment with rehabilitation, and aggressive early rehabilitation; with the option for later surgery if needed. This compares the major differences in thought on treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries between surgical and non surgical. (Frobell, Roos, Roos, Ranstan, Lohmander, 2010) This study was a randomized control trial in patients of 18 to 35 years of age, who presented to an emergency department with recent rational knee trauma to a previously uninjured knee within the last four weeks. Anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency was determined by clinical exam, and a score of five to nine on a tenner activity scale before the injury. 5 indicating participation in recreational sports and nine representing competitive sports. Possible participants were excluded if they had a full thickness rupture seen on magnetic resonance imaging, or if they have had a previous knee injury. • 4. Alcohol And The Social Network In the study Alcohol and the Social Network: Online Social Networking Sites and College Students Perceived Drinking Norms, Fournier, Hall, Ricke, and Storey studied the absence or presence of alcohol content on social media and how it would effect the participants perceived drinking norms of college students (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 86). Their hypothesis was that subjects that were in the alcohol content group would estimate higher college alcohol norms than the group that did not see the Facebook page with alcohol content in it (Fournier et al., Pg. 88). Another predicted, the drinker type that the subject is (binge drinkers vs. non binge drinkers) would interact with the condition (non alcohol content on Facebook page vs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 87). Therefore, the researchers created their study to see how the social networking content influences college students alcohol use. In this study, the independent variables were the differences between what was seen on the fictitious Facebook page, whether it included alcohol or non alcohol content, and binge drinkers vs. non binge drinkers (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 89). The dependent variable is the questionnaire that each of the groups took. It measured the following: personal alcohol use, information about the fictitious profile, perceived drinking norms, and frequency and quantity in which a student consumes alcohol per week (Fournier et al., 2013, Pg. 89). The fictitious Facebook page only changed the content that was shown. In the study there were fifty seven participants; 39 female and 18 men, from the University in Midwestern United States. They recruited from an introductory psychology class, and participants voluntarily signed up. The group was not as diverse, but they were from different class years and aged from eighteen to thirty three. After the study was over the participants were put into two groups: non binge drinkers and binge drinkers, based on their answer on the questionnaire about how many drinks they consumed per sitting ... • 6. The Scientific Method Of Experimental Testing Answer #1 Scientific Method The scientific method can be defined as a technique for research where the problem is known, appropriate data is gathered, a hypothesis is formulated from the data, and the hypothesis is tested firsthand. Gauch (2003) defines the scientific method as a highly variable and creative process and states that it is often misrepresented as a fixed sequence of steps although the scientific method of research has four steps. The first step is the observation, which serves as an act of recognizing and noting a fact or occurrence often involving measurement with instruments. The second step is the hypothesis, which is a tentative assumption made to draw out and test its logical and empirical consequences. The third step is experimental testing, which is when you apply a test to analyze or diagnose. The fourth step is predictions, which is when you declare or indicate in advance or predict the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason. As Speech Language Pathologist continue to administer speech and language services, it is important they adhere to the principles of science, which assists with incorporating science based practice (SBP) into all aspects of their clinical work. • 7. Artificial Neural Networks ( Anns ) Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are computational algorithms loosely based on the human biological nervous system which work to model statistical data. An ANN consists of processing elements known as neurons that are interconnected to each other and work in unison to answer a particular problem [, and] can be used in places where detecting trends and extracting patterns are too complex to be detected by either humans or other computer techniques. Although recent in their explosion in popularity, the underlying logic behind ANNs have existed for nearly a half century , however due to the pervasive and ubiquitous adoption of powerful computational tools in our contemporary society, ANNs have had a sort of renaissance, much to the avail of scientists, engineers, and consumers. The current cutting edge in deep learning and ANNs focuses highly on both their ability to model and interpret complex data, and their ability to be put to scale due through optimization and parallelization. The current framework for designing ANNs is one that is widely available, with a myriad of tools facilitating their development. Python, C++, Google s Tensorflow, Theano, Matlab, and Spark all contain a robust set of mathematical operations which necessitate ANNs. Due to the algorithm behind ANNs, the models are inherently apt in extract[ing] meaning from imprecise or intricate problems . Speaking reductively, ANNs are data modeling tools which are trained on a given dataset, and can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Wealth, Wisdom And Weakness Of King Solomon The Wealth, Power, Wisdom and Weakness of Solomon Throughout history there have been many different types of leaders. There have been kings, emperors, pharaohs, presidents, dictators, and tyrants who have led many countries and nations. Rulers can be beneficial, malevolent, kind, brutal, or completely ineffective. King Solomon was a very rich, wise, and famous king of ancient Israel. He was the son of King David and Bathsheba. Bathsheba wanted her son to rule, so David had Solomon anointed king before he died. David s older son, Adonijah, wanted his father s kingdom and threatened Solomon s throne. So Solomon sent a messenger to kill Adonijah and his allies, thus securing his throne. Solomon overcame the last potential threats to his kingdom by killing his brother and his brother s allies. King Solomon then secured his throne by appointing his friends to high positions of power. The author of the book of Kings, in the Bible, is unknown, or anonymous. It is likely that during Solomon s reign Israeli history started being written down. It is also likely that a Hebrew wrote the book of Kings due to a bias in favor of Solomon. Hebrews had a very positive view of Solomon because he built The First Temple which housed the Arc of the Covenant, a vital relic to the Hebrew people said to contain the Ten Commandments. It took him seven and a half years to build this Temple to honor their one, true God. King Solomon s reign is thought to be circa 965 B.C. to about 927 B.C. As the son of David and chosen heir to the throne, Solomon was made King towards the end of his father s reign, while David was still alive. Solomon inherited a very large kingdom from his father. Solomon accumulated enormous wealth. He controlled the entire region west of the Euphrates and had peace on his borders...He had a large share in the trade between northern and southern countries. He established Israelite colonies around his province to look after military, administrative and commercial matters (Jewish). Solomon was extraordinarily wise in how he set up his kingdom. He made sure to establish peace with the surrounding countries so that he could trade with them and gain more profit. He divided his kingdom wisely so that he could rule ... • 9. New Tactics During The Civil War The introduction of steam and iron reshaped and defined new tactics during the 1815 1866 time period with emphasis on the Civil War. Primarily, the invention of the steam engine and rifled artillery forged from iron would define a new tactical advantage for both Confederate and Union Armies. Furthermore, these two new inventions would also greatly increase the effects of speed, lethality, and mass at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels during the Civil War. Prior to the Civil War during the Napoleonic era, artillery was a smoothbore weapon system primarily forged with bronze. These systems were very large, cumbersome, horse drawn and difficult to move into battle. However, near the end of the Napoleonic Era the Gribeauval system would improve cannon systems by casting them out of a solid piece of bronze, and boring out the center. This new Napoleonic invention increased range and accuracy, ultimately, establishing the cornerstone of rifled artillery.1 During the beginning of the Civil War the Army Ordnance Board attempted to apply rifling to bronze bore cannons. Nonetheless, this form of rifling would prove unsuccessful, as the bores were shot out in less than 500 rounds. However, Phoenix Iron Works of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania would alter the rifling design by casting cannons out of iron with rifled iron banding in the bores. This new form of cannon development caused little wear on the cannon bores, vastly extending tube life. Furthermore, this new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Compare And Contrast Juir 3 And Juror 8 This play by Reginald Rose was very dramatic. In this courtroom, there was a case about a young man that is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. This case consisted of a group of twelve jurors. These twelve jurors had so much about themselves that was alike and in some ways they were all different. As someone looks at the phone and concentrates on the text messages, they will become distracted from driving. Distracted drivers can cause car accidents and injuries or death to themselves or others. Texting causes delayed reactions, which increase the chance of getting into an accident. • 17. Dante s Journey Of Salvation As Dante makes his ascent through hell and purgatory, he is guided by two figures. The first is Virgil, who saves him from peril and accompanies him, as a friend, through the layers of both afterlifes. The second is Beatrice, who inspired Dante s journey of salvation in the first place, and who he longs to be reunited with. Yet although these guides are leading him towards God, Dante mistakes their guiding as the end itself. He makes a God of Beatrice, sees her as the ultimate good towards which one strives, and makes a Jesus of Virgil, the man through whom this ultimate good is reached. In this way, Dante creates his own trinity, much to the detriment of his ascent to the True God. His first mistake, through which the others stem, is equating Beatrice to God. While she was alive, her beautiful eyes and lovely limbs were the only things keeping him on the holy path. This is clear when he confesses Things set in front of me, / with their false delights, turned back my steps / the moment that Your countenance was hidden (Purgatorio.31.34 36). He could have avoided traveling through the afterlifes had he not overvalued her in the first place. In fact, even when he is promised redemption through his journey, it takes Virgil mentioning Beatrice as the end goal of his journey to persuade Dante to begin the undertaking (Inferno.2.57 126). Dante still sees Beatrice, rather than God, as the end towards which he strives. For her sake alone he goes down into the deepest pits of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The 2012 election was no exception to this convention, especially being true in an advertisement with ex steel plant worker Joe Soptic, speaking in Obama affiliated Political Action Committee Priorities. The advertisement included many logical fallacies to argue against the Romney campaign. Those include post hoc reasoning, ad hominem, and slippery slope. In addition there was a caption in the video short after the previous statement by Soptic, claiming that Mitt Romney and Bain Capital made millions for themselves and then closed the plant. This is implying that Romney and Bain Capital are greedy. This has no relation to the topic of Romney s political views and is merely an attack on character. Furthermore the advertisement ends with Soptic stating that he does not think that Mitt Romney is concerned about the well being of workers of the plant. The last piece of logical fallacy that is present in the advertisement of 2012 is slippery slope. This is when it is asserted that one event will inevitably be followed another with question or argument. Slippery slope is implied in this advertisement in the way that if Romney is in charge, he will shut down businesses, which will disable people to receive health insurance, which will cause many deaths. This is improbable in the way that one event does not necessarily cause the other and predominantly, is highly unlikely. In each case, the organization, the labor union, and the public are negatively affected. Why can t there be a better way of resolving disputes between the management and labor unions to avert unnecessary strikes? Why does the relationship between the labor unions and management have to be adversarial in nature? Does anybody benefit from strikes and work stoppages? These are some of the questions that I will explore in this study. Firstly, it will seem that the management and the labor union of any organization have a stake in the success or failure of that organization. The success of the organization has to be the priority or the number one goal of any member or members of the organization. As such, the entire organization has to work as a team in order to succeed, thrive and survive. In the real world, that is not what is happening. As a matter of fact, the labor unions and the management of some organizations see each other as adversaries. First of all, once again according to the anthology, To Brooklyn Bridge is a hopeful reply to The Wasteland, where Eliot writes of a fractured world, a perspective Crane shares, but his response paints a more optimistic picture. Crane accomplishes this by using the Brooklyn Bridge as its prime symbol... to restore meaning and unity to a fragmented and dissonant modern world (Axelrod 626). The Bridge is a manmade effort that is capable of connecting the fragmented world. This hope is also reminiscent of Whitman s ideas of an idealistic and unified America. Gold and silver, found as native metal, were used both as jewellery and as a status symbol nothing new there. These metals were known in the Stone Age, but gold and silver are too soft to be used as tools. The first really useful metal to be discovered was bronze. This began the Bronze Age. Bronze was used extensively for tools and weapons in Asia and Africa from 4,500 B.C. (6,500 years ago) and in Britain from 2,000 B.C. (4,000 years ago). O God, God, How weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable Seem to me all the uses of this world! (Act 1 Scene 1, Hamlet) Hamlet s idea of role playing was truly important to Hamlet in the play, because it was his way of conducing revenge, for his father s death. Hamlet acted deranging and irrational throughout the whole play, to cover up his capacity of killing Claudius, who was the killer of his father, King Hamlet. Hamlet s actions of insaneness, led him to committing many mishaps in the play that completely disarranged his objective of obtaining revenge against Claudius. However, due to Hamlet s exploitation in role playing in the play, it precipitated him into temporizing and delaying his ability to obtain his revenge, which effected many characters along the way. However, poverty rates, as measured by the Department of Agriculture s Economic Research Service, are higher in non metro areas as compared to metropolitan centers. The demographics of poverty offer insight for future policy considerations to both public administrators and policy writers beyond the demographics of simply rural versus metro citizens. For example, in 2016 rural White citizens were half as likely to live in poverty as either Black or Native American citizens. In addition, a female head of household in a rural area is nearly eight times as likely to live in poverty as a married couple. Couple these demographics with the fact that only 46 million citizens live in nonmetro areas roughly 15% of the national population it is not surprising that rural areas seem to receive less attention by federally elected officials than urban and suburban areas with few, if any, programs geared specifically to known problem characteristics. At the county level, poverty as defined by the US government is an immensely rural problem, with the most remote rural places at the greatest disadvantage. It would seem obvious that where and how an individual lives would matter in a person s ability to rise above the poverty level.
