Essay Writing On Music
Writing an essay on the topic of music can be both a delightful and challenging endeavor. On
one hand, the vastness of the subject offers a plethora of possibilities for exploration, allowing
for a rich and diverse discussion. On the other hand, this very breadth can pose a challenge, as
the writer must navigate through the vast landscape of musical genres, historical contexts,
cultural influences, and individual preferences.
To embark on such a task, one must possess not only a passion for music but also a keen
understanding of its multifaceted nature. The challenge lies in presenting a comprehensive view
that encapsulates the essence of music, from its theoretical foundations to its emotional impact.
Balancing technical aspects with the subjective and emotional dimensions requires a delicate
touch, ensuring that the essay appeals to both musicians and those with a more casual
appreciation for the art form.
Moreover, the task involves selecting and organizing information effectively, choosing the right
examples, and seamlessly weaving together a narrative that captures the reader's attention. The
essay must strike a balance between informative and engaging, offering insights that are both
intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant.
In addition, the writer must consider the diverse perspectives on music – be it historical,
cultural, or personal – and skillfully integrate them into a cohesive narrative. This requires
research, critical thinking, and the ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise
manner.
Ultimately, the difficulty in writing an essay on music lies in the multifaceted nature of the
subject and the challenge of doing justice to its richness. However, with dedication, a deep
appreciation for the subject matter, and effective writing skills, one can navigate these challenges
and produce an essay that not only informs but also inspires.

Hiking Essay
There is a recent emergence an activity in America that numerous people have not
even noticed, what might this activity be, it is hiking. Hiking is an activity that has
recently become popular with people of all ages; since the year 1960 the number of
hikers in Colorado alone has almost quadrupled. Why is this? Countless people have
discovered what an excellent activity hikingis, and have found it extremely enjoyable.
Although only fifteen percent of Americans hike, hiking is an activity with several
hidden benefits that one might not notice right away, these benefits make hiking the
best activity in the world. One reason for the sudden spike in hiking popularity is
because of how many different levels of difficulty there that range... Show more

When kids and teens get out in the woods, many times there is not internet, or cell
service. Although hiking sounds like the best activity ever, as with any argument,
there is an opposing side to this argument. Some people think that hiking is not a
thorough exercise, because whenever the hiker gets tired, he or she can simply turn
around and come back to civilization. Occasionally, there is no motivation for the
hiker to go hiking, especially if there is inclement weather. It was mentioned earlier
that rock climbing was a more extreme form of hiking, but some say that rock
climbing is an entire different sport with an entirely distinct set of problems. Despite
these issues, hiking is still one of the best activities for people to participate in.
Several of the issues are only what the public perceives of hiking, countless adamant
hikers hike even if it is raining, and when it is raining, some animals come out, this
gives even more motivation to hike in the rain. The majority of hikers do not turn
around while hiking because they want to get to the top of the mountain, or there a
serene mountain tarn. numerous hikers will not turn around unless there is an
extreme weather condition, or they are seriously injured. Overall, hiking is the best
activity for a whole body workout, and has the benefit of the whole family being able
to participate in this activity. A little more rigorous
How Did The Devil s Arithmetic Change Throughout The
Movie
There were many significant changes in the movie Devil s Arithmetic, all of these
changes in the movie altered the integrity of the whole story and plot. These changes
were taking out main characters, altering scenes, taking out scenes, and adding new
scenes that were not in the book. In the movie, the movie director took out many
main characters. Two of the characters that were taken out of the movie was Aaron
and Gitl. The movie director could have made this significant change for many
reasons. The most insightful reason the movie director took Aaron and Gitl out of the
movie were because the director thought that they had minor roles so why do you
need characters that have so minor roles. Although the thing is the director did not
know that when he took these characters out he was tweaking the whole plot
dramatically.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The movie director could have changed this scene to make the movie flow finer.
Although when refining this scene the director changed the plot of the whole

were many scenes that were taken out. One of the biggest scenes that were taken out
was when Hannah and her mom was bickering about Passover. In the book, the first
scene was when Hannah and her mother were bickering about whether Hannah had to
go to Passover. Although it does not sound important this scene set a mood to the
whole entire scene. This would definitely alter the integrity of the whole plot and
story. The director might have made this revision in the movie because he or she
might have thought it was an unnecessary
The Importance Of Theatre Arts For All High School
Students
Researching entertainment production was mildly interesting, as well as the
productions of theatre and the entertainment side. While researching theatre, I came
across the highs and lows of having the lack of funding for theatre programs in
school. The goal of this paper is to explain the importance of theatrearts in public
schools across the United States. The Theatre Arts Department provides performing
and creative experiences in Theatre for all High Schoolstudents. Theatre Arts
programs offer a wide range of curricular courses and extra curricular activities.
Learning and experiencing theatre arts correlate intensely with higher
accomplishments in both reading, math and social skills. Entertainment production is

From experience with being in theatre, studies show that and believes it helps to
build self esteem. It helps with being creative and having a desire to be motivated
in yourself as well as in things you love. It allows you to be free, to express how
you feel through words, emotions and gestures. Being in theatre also helps students
have a better connection with one another. It helps students be more self motivated,
be self directed learners as well as listeners in and out the classroom. Students in
theatre will improve communication skills, understand that improving
communication is a life¬long learning process. Students will understand the
importance of testing ideas and the desirability of diverse points of views on and
off stage. They will also be prepared to participate actively as responsible members
of society have the knowledge and skills needed to perform successfully in a
showcase. Being in Theatre Arts allows students to increase self confidence, express
ideas, and apply knowledge of nonverbal communication in sending and receiving
messages. Also, students will learn to demonstrate critical thinking and organizational
skills. The principle of acting and the need for good thinking are identical in adults
and children s theatre (Goldberg,24). Creative drama teaches appreciation of children
s theatre and the latter provides a motivation for the former. (Goldberg,9) It was
stated to share that children should learn the
Forced Migration Essay
In the per modern era, human migration was a well known occurrence that was
caused by either force or willingness of the people. When migration was constituted
through force, it was understood to be through political or economical duress. For
instance, political measures unveiling large tax reforms created unbearable cost of
living standards for the poor to survive. Whereas, increased economic labour created
through force, was established for the rich to reap the benefits from majority of the
poor. In essence, this widened the gap of economic dualism by forcing majority of
the lower class people into living standards well below the poverty levels. Evidently,
this would cause cultures to revolt on their kings through revolutionary measures...

armaments. At his old age, he placed a heavy tax burden on his people, and in turn
they became largely bitter towards him. After his death, massive conflicts came
before the people to eventually split Israel and Judah into separate kingdoms. In 800
B.C.E., two centuries later, the Assyrians conquered the north, and many of the Jews
of Israel were deported (Ardito, Gambaro and Torrefranca p.42). Later, in 600 B.C.E.,
the kingdom of Judah was overthrown by the Babylons. In turn, this lead to their
captivity as slaves; entering a new era of a nomadic culture spread across the western
world. On the other hand, it was this captivity which strengthened their religious
identity, and evidently propagated the largest monolithic deity known throughout the
21st century: Jesus Christ.
Next, looking at the Han Dynasty, it lasted from 202 B.C.E. to 220 C.E. This time

famous Silk Road. It was not until about 184 C.E that this dynasty was to break

Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit in Hermann Hesse s
Siddhartha
Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit in Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
Each of us has innate desire to understand the purpose of our existence. As Hermann
Hesse illustrates in his novel Siddhartha, the journey to wisdom may be difficult.
Organized religion helps many to find meaning in life but it does not substitute
careful introspection. An important message of Siddhartha is that to achieve
enlightenment one must unite the experiences of mind, body, and spirit.
In the first part of the book, Siddhartha is consumed by his thirst for knowledge. He
joined the samanas and listened to the teachings of the Buddha in attempt to discern
the true way to Nirvana. Though he perfected the arts of meditation and self denial, he

He proclaimed, I had to sink to the greatest mental depths, ...in order to experience
grace, ...to sleep deeply and awaken refreshed again (78). When he stopped his
religious pilgrimage for the pleasures of a senseless life his quest for inner direction
seemed to be setback, but this was actually imperative in moving forward to find
himself. He unknowingly achieved the second step in his journey and was left with
just one more stage.
Siddhartha then discovered his spirit through a series of events that refreshed and
awakened him. Then from a remote part of his soul, from the past of his tired life, he
heard a sound (72). At the moment Siddhartha attempted to sink himself into oblivion
by drowning himself in the river, his soul was revived by the holy Om. Hesse states
that this sound came from his past, indicating that without his previous experiences,
he could not be conscious of Brahman, of the indestructibleness of life (72). When
Siddhartha endured his revelation by the river he realized that his sins had ironically
allowed him to begin anew. When he found Atman in himself by forgetting his power
to think, it showed that his inner direction in truth guided him towards peace. While
Siddhartha succeeded in recognizing his soul, he still did not know how it fit into the
unity of all things.
Siddhartha learned a valuable lesson in his inner journey by again
Character Analysis Of Oliver Twist
The story of Oliver Twist was originally written by Charles Dickens. It follows a
young boy called Oliver on his adventures around England from one place to the
next. On his journey, he becomes a workhouse boy, a runaway, a thief and a
respectable gentleman. He is taught these traits by some people who have good
morals and some people who are amoral. Mr. Bumble is the town beadle, he looks
after the towns orphans and the poor. He is well paid but he is not wealthy. Mr.
Bumble wishes and aspires to be part of the board of directors. After Oliver asks
for more food one day, Mr. Bumble brings him to stand in front of the board of
directors. They give Mr. Bumble the task of finding Oliver an apprenticeship to get
him out of the workhouse. Mr. Sowerberry makes coffins and takes in Oliver as an
apprentice. He is quite a nice person and if he had been left to his own devices, he
would have been very lovely and caring towards Oliver. The only problem was that
Mr. Sowerberry was quite cowardly and scared of his wife Mrs. Sowerberry who
was mean and resented Oliver. Mr. Sowerberry has good morals but is influenced
by someone who is amoral. Noah Claypole is Mr. Sowerberry s assistant and an
outright bully. As soon as Oliver had arrived, Noah teased poor Oliver. Most of the
time the maid, Charlotte would help Noah. She never realized that she was doing
something wrong she thought it was just a game. Noah became jealous when Oliver
was chosen to be the mute in the funeral parade,
Trip To Disney World Essay
I remember planning for this day for about two years. When I would finally get the
chance to be with my best friends and take a road trip to California to go to Disney
Land, and now that the time to take that trip has come and gone I would like to talk
about my most important journey. Once I woke up I called Alavee to make sure
he was awake. I m glad he was because he saved me some time by calling Priya and
Rigo to make sure they were getting ready to go. About an hour and a half later we
all met up in the school parking lot at about the same time. The exception was Priya
who had to take extra time to bring the camper which we hardly used in the end, but
it was still better than trying to cram into one car to sleep. Anthony brought his...

stayed in the camper because of course he had to bring his laptop with her. The rest
of us went into my aunt s downstairs room and played playstation 3 and went on her

Colorado and have time to see some sites and visit my aunt and uncle. After we
said thanks for letting us stay with my Aunt Alks and Uncle Pinakin s house, we
were on our way. I wasn t really looking forward to the drive ahead because I
remember how long it was the first time I had to make the trip, and it gets
uncomfortable. The only thing I like when we go to Colorado is that we lose an
hour. This was probably the most boring trip on our journey because most of the
land we traveled was in Nebraska and it was flat and plain. There was nothing
really significant about this trip until we got to Colorado. Flat land changed into
mountains and country turned into city. That part of it was really interesting
because it was like we could see the invisible line separating Colorado and Nebraska.
It took us a little while to find my aunt in Golden, Colorado because the directions
were a little hard to follow. I guess no one wanted to see anything because almost as

Drones Breach Essay
Unfortunately, in the scenario, it seems that firm I have contracted with is
heading for a breach of contract. I now have to significantly wait for my drones. I
may now be entitled to compensatory damages and can recover what it will cost to
rush order the build of these six drones from another manufacturer. This would
make my firm whole against as if the breach had not occurred. My firm will also
incur additional costs to find another manufacturer of the drones if they can be rush
delivered, I may also be able to get those incidental damages due to the breach. I
may also be entitled to consequential damages if the soonest I could get the drones

I cannot look at this as an opportunity to seize. Novation could be an option yet to
find a firm that would rush build the exact drones for the same price within the
week would probably be unlikely. I should reasonably establish an effort to find
alternative solutions to this problem. Some of the things I could explore would be
to ask the manufacturer if they have loaner drones we could use for the next
months they may not meet our needs perfectly but would be good enough until we
customize drones can be delivered. We could try to find another drone
manufacturer who could deliver the drones sooner, but possibly at a higher price.
We could then ask the original drone manufacturer to pay the incremental costs of
having another firm rush build the drones for us. Another solution would be to
subcontract out the drone work for our firm until we the drones are delivered.
Lastly, we could ask our customer to push back their surveys to a later date once
we have the drones offering some sort of discount for their flexibility. All of these
solutions would probably end up cost my firm more than if the drones had been
originally delivered on time, but some options would result in damages to be
recovered. The law says that as long as any of these solutions are reasonably my firm
should attempt to reduce damages as much as possible. When a party must breach a

Abstract :
This paper caters to the reality, based on facts of carbon emissions, of electric cars
doubting the sustainability factor for the claims of the cars. The paper details what
exactly electric cars are, their manufacturing , mechanism and the carbon pollution
emitted by them in the primary stage ,i.e. Manufacturing. Also, it throws a limelight
on the resources used to charge these electric cars and how adversely it affects the
climate if the resources used to charge the cars are non renewable resources, such as
charging cars which derive their electricity from national grid, which in most
countries is produced by coal (a highly polluting and carbon emitting and non
renewable source of energy).
Methodology :
The methodology used in this paper is based on the research reports and articles
published overtime on online platforms.
Graphs and figures are represented to get better clarity of the various comparisons
made.
Also, the positive and negative impacts of electric cars has been expressed for overall
understanding.
Definition :
Electric Cars are vehicles that use electrical potential energy which is then stored in
rechargeable batteries (chemical energy) to propel at least one electric motor,
converting it into kinetic energy.

Compare And Contrast The Concentration Of

Considering the data and evidence collected from both primary, secondary and
additional sources, I can conclude that my hypothesis, which suggests that the higher
the food colouring concentration, the steeper the gradient of diffusion reaction, is
valid. To support my hypothesis I will refer to my primary, secondary and additional
evidence to explain my conclusions in depth.
Firstly, if we consider the data collected in tables from my primary and secondary
evidence, we can see that the values of the range of diffusion reaction are higher
when the concentration of food colouring dye used is higher in percentage.
Specifically, when the concentration is at 0%, there is no diffusion reaction at all.
In contrast, as we increase the percentage of food dye used by a specific set value
(+20% each time) the distance (radius or diameter) of food dye formed from
diffusion around the well becomes steeper. For example, 20% of food dye
concentration diffused presents the lowest means: 12.3mm (primary data) and
2.3mm (secondary data, where the radius has been measured instead of ... Show more

Agar is remarkably related. To be specific, diffusion is a process in which
substances move down a concentration gradient, from an area of high concentration
to an area of low concentration to reach the equilibrium. When a well is filled with
a specific food dye, the well becomes the area of high concentration. It eventually
diffuses through agar, (agar being the region having no concentration of food dye
particles) at a certain rate, depending on the concentration of the food dye to reach
the equilibrium. When doing my practical and collecting data, food dye with higher
concentration diffused through agar had a bigger gradient of diffusion(bigger area
around the wells), which presents higher values exactly as I predicted in my
Plan Risk And Risk Management Plan
To begin with, as it is mentioned in the PMBOK (PMI, 2013, p. 342), Plan risk
response ... is the process of developing options and actions to enhance opportunities
and to reduce threats to project objectives. This is a link of project risk management
during which the PM and the project team can use the analysis result from prior
assessments and choose the effective risk managementstrategy. By planning risk
response, the project s risks can be addressed with their priority, insert resources, and
activities, and put into the triple constrains plans if needed (PMI, 2013, p. 342).
The inputs for this risk management process is quite simple, based on our textbook,
it only needs the risk management plan and the risk register for applying the risk
respond planning process (PMI, 2013, p. 342). Since identifying risk
responsibilities is a crucial section within planning the risk responds; and the risk
thresholds can help to identify specific risk responses of project risks, the Risk
management plan is therefore the crucial element for the planning of risk response
process. Moreover, the updated Risk register can provide required risks information
for developing risk responses, so it becomes another main input for risk response
planning process (PMI, 2013, p. 343).
Furthermore, the output from this risk management process is also simple but
crucial. As the prior analysis processes, project documents and the project
management plan would be updated after the planning of risk

the women took care of the children. The baby boom highlighted the younger

savagery, which occurs throughout the novel. This story starts by when this

realized that they had to work together. When the boys first meet, they have
assemblies and they choose a leader which is Ralph, one of the main characters.
Considering they have a leader, the plan after was to try to plant roles for
everyone, for example: getting food, building a shelter, so they could survive,
while they were in the island. But they were also trying to get a ship s attention by
making a fire, so they could get rescue. Some of the boys disagreed to the
necessities they were required for this survival. There were also a lot of conflicts,

On September 11th, 2012, the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya was attacked.
During the attack, around 150 men killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and
another diplomat. A few hours later, the CIA annex was attacked and two more were
killed. At the start of the attack, news had reached the United States. Later that night
and into the morning, Leon Panetta, Secretary of Defense at the time, was informed.
When the president was informed, however is not known. The question of who was
responsible came up quickly. When asked, White House officials, including Hillary

These pleas were not answered, going against political norm. When the question of
who decided to blame the video came up, it was circumvented repeatedly. This
brings up the idea of what should be a norm. Ethically, a greater transparency would
be preferred to the murky glass the government sometimes gives the public to see
them through. However one looks at it, the Benghazi attack illustrates political norms
that were not heeded, and the consequences, as of today, have not been fully realized.
The second component of political science is the component that consists of
empirical data. This is the real information behind a situation. It includes the causes
of events and patterns of public action as well as many other aspects of empirical
data. We use our observational powers and reason, along with many other tools, to
investigate significant problems, including the Benghazi attack. When data is
collected, it is used to test hypotheses and help predict what will happen when
similar factors meet. In this component we would ask, Who pushed the video? . A
political scientist would look for evidence supporting a hypothesis related to this
question. He or she would collect data from people involved in the response to the
attack and then present his or her evidence. A more general question that would be
represented in this component of political science is the question of why exactly the

The Formation of Interest Groups
The pluralist theory of democracy contends that people with common interests,
organize in groups to solicit support and solutions to problems in relation to
government. Research indicates a key element of interest group formation is the
entrepreneur. The research suggests, however, the incentive for entrepreneurs to
organize varies. Some say the motivation to organize is economically based, others
say the motivation to organize is tied to a specific disturbance or event. Some contend
patrons motivate leaders to organize interest groups, others suggest a more altruistic
motive for group formation. My aim is to determine the driving force behind the

The article, If You Don t Do It, Nobody Else Will (Oliver, 1984) describes group
leaders as highly educated, but more pessimistic about the willingness of others to
make active contributions. Further, people are not motivated to lead in order to
gain access to power, but to provide the collective good because no one else will.
Oliver (1984), contends that it is extremely unlikely in voluntary community action
for incentives to be enough to make a person want to absorb the cost of

Orgon what he s really like. She is also working to disguise her disgust toward
Tartuffe as he tries to sleep with her in the scene when Orgon doesn t come out, so
there is also to avoid and evade as well, though that all must be disguised to keep
up the charade. Elmire s goal in the scene overall is to prove that Tartuffe is a bad
man and to persuade Orgon to finally come to his senses and kick him out of their
house. There are many obstacles that Elmire faces throughout this scene. First, she
has to convince Tartuffe that her earlier remarks about finding him disgusting were
just an act to keep him from trouble, and that her new outlook is not a farce being
used to trick him, this is where the seductionand her intelligence and wit must come
into play. Also, she has to keep Orgon under the tableduring the beginning of the scene
A Critical Discussion of Blaise Pascal s The Wager Essay...
A Critical Discussion of Blaise Pascal s The Wager
In the gambling world bets are made based on odds, the probability or likelihood
that something would happen. In the court of law, cases are decided upon by the
weight of evidence presented by the respective parties. The common link between
these general scenarios is that decisions are made based on some outside evidential
factor. The more probable something is likely to happen, or the more evidence
presented in favor or opposed to something, the greater the tendency that a decision
will coincide with that probability or evidence. This kind of logic has also been used
when arguing about the existence of God. It has been argued that God s existence is
necessary based on the logic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pascal starts off his essay by stating that, If there is a God, He is infinitely
incomprehensible...He has no affinity to us. (Pascal, 78) This already poses a
problem with the argument he is about to present in support of believing that God
exists. The main question becomes, if there is a god and that this god is
incomprehensible, then what is the point in believing whether or not such a being
a actually exists? It would obviously follow that we would never come to a full
understanding of this god, and any efforts to believe in or worship him would be
in vain. Are we just to believe that this god exists and that s all, or is there a code of
conduct that is to follow this belief? How do you act in a manner that is pleasing
to being that you do not and never will wholly understand? Pascal goes on to state
that once we have made this rational decision to believe in God then we start to act
like we believe in this god and from practicing these actions habitually your belief
will strengthen Pascal, 78). The problem here lies in the basis of the strength for
this belief. To make a decision and then act on that decision seems pretty consistent;
but, to make a decision and have that decision become a belief based on habitual
actions does not follow at all. Is this belief that your holding to a product of sincerity
of habit? If you start to act you
Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars
The poem Shooting Stars by Carol Ann Duffy tells a shocking story of a female
prisoner held by Nazis in a concentration camp around the time of the Holocaust.
The poem is set in 1940, Hitler and his Nazi party had taken control of most of
Europe and had vowed to exterminate the entire Jewish race.
Duffy s haunting use of imagery and word choice make this poem so memorable
and its very strong opening prepares the reader for the rest of the poem.
The title choice, Shooting Stars is a very effective and ambiguous title. The first
meaning is that the word Stars represent the Jewish symbol, The Star of David.
Jewish people were forced to wear them on their clothes to mark them out as targets
of abuse and torment for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word gaze shows that these men are detached from their emotions as they are
part of a mass slaughtering which seems hard to believe that that is humanly possible.
Duffy then uses the literary technique, enjambment to combine the first and second
stanzas. This technique is used to emphasize the point, Mourn for the daughters
/ upright as statues and carry the impact through the two stanzas. Duffy shows how
the women are stood firm and even in the most humiliating, de humanised state.
You would not look at me. / You waited for the bullet the woman is looking out for
her friend as they are waiting to be killed. For the woman to be faced with death and
looking out for her friend shows the incredibly selfless personality of the Jews. The
following single word line, Fell is a euphemism for the death of the woman and
gives a strong, short impact to the reader and acts like a literary bullet which is
literally the object which killed her.
Duffy tells us to Remember these appalling days which make the world forever bad
. She gives the word Remember a capital letter to emphasize the fact that we should
not forget what happened there. Duffy believes that if the memory of this atrocity
stays in our memory, we can avoid any other mass, human caused disaster to reoccur.
Enjambment is once again used to link stanzas two and three. One saw I was alive.

Oral Care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Essay
In clinical experience, it is seen that many patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
are on mechanical ventilation. These patients range from having head trauma, heart
surgery and respiratory problems yet there is no clear, concise systematic standard
oral care procedures noted on the different floors in the hospital. Oral care is a basic
nursing care activity that can provide relief, comfort and prevention of microbial
growth yet is given low priority when compared to other critical practices in critically
ill patients. The Center for Disease Control reveals that Ventilator Associated
Pneumonia (VAP) is the second most common nosocomial infection that affects
approximately 27% of critically ill patients (Koeman, Van der Ven Hak,

The prevention of VAP through standardized care can reduce mortality rates, reduce
mechanical ventilation days, and decrease costs and improve patient outcome. VAP is
defined as a patient who is mechanically ventilated for greater than 48 hours and
exhibits three out the five symptoms: fever, increase leukocytosis, change in sputum
color or amount, radiographic evidence of new/progressive infiltrates and worsening
oxygen requirements along with a culture identifying a bacterial microorganism
(CDC, 2008). Risk factors associated with the formation of VAP is the altered oral
physiology where there is a decrease in saliva production decreasing the pH level
forming an ideal environment for bacteria to grow, respiratory pathogens such as
Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumonia, Methicillin Resistant
Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonoas aeruginosa which can form a biofilm on
the teeth that we know as plaque that can then aspirate and travel down to the lungs
(Koeman et al., 2006). Several studies (Munro et al., 2009) have verified that
removing bacteria from the oropharynx requires the removal of dental plaque, and the
only way to remove the plaque is with toothbrushing. Others found that the majority
of nurses use a soft Toothette instead of toothbrushing and that the Toothettes do not

Media Role Models and the Effect on Children
Media construct our culture, and the media we use to communicate with one
another shapes our perception of reality. Our society is centered on media, it is the
most influential factor in constructing our culture, but is it a positive culture? If we
examine the effect that media has on children, we can say that it breeds a harmful
culture, one that throws values and morals out the window. This is because the
media is profit driven and has developed its own code of ethics of anything goes .
As a result, children are exposed to things that they should not necessarily be
exposed to yet and as a result it rushes their mental development and in fact moulds
their mentality. This is a scary fact because these children s minds are susceptible...

Another example we could look at is Britney Spears, young girls who like Britney
Spears think that she is В‘cool and thus they strive to be just like her, and this
involves acting like Britney and more importantly buying Britney Spears products
such as her clothing. So in conclusion these media personalities are popular among
children and idolized by them because they are promoted as being cool and for a
child to be cool they must be just like them, which involves buying their products.
These media personalities are in essence products themselves that the media bodies
try to sell to children on the basis of В‘cool , and once they can be sold to the
children as being cool, their entire franchise benefits because their image can create
the demand for all products with their likeness.
Now let s look at the effect that these media personalities have on children in the
age group 5 and under. We assume that children are safe watching educational
programming such as Blue s Clues , Dora the explorer and Teletubbies , but are
they really as safe as we think they are. First off, these types of television shows are
educational and do in fact teach young children while keeping them entertained. This
can be seen as a positive influence on our kids and these characters as being positive

Thermo catalytic Degradation of Waste Polythene into lubricants using Zeolite
Mr. Amol Vagad Department of Instrumentation Engineering,
MCT s Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology,
Mumbai, India amolvagad@gmail.com ABSTRACT: Waste polythene primarily in
the form of used polythene bags, comprises of most of the plastic pollution caused in
India. Many processes have been developed to combat this issue which includes
pyrolysis and catalytic cracking. This paper states an experiment that was carried out
using catalytic cracking using Zeolite (ZSM 5). The catalyst in presence of heat
helped to break down the polymer molecules. The experiment gave a product which
consisted of 80% grease. The obtained product can be used for various industrial and
domestic applications where lubrication is required. The recyclable nature of the
catalyst makes this process efficient, affordable as well as environment friendly.
KEYWORDS: polythene, pyrolysis, catalytic cracking, Zeolite, grease.

Pollution due to waste plastic has been a very largeissue in countries like India and
China in the Asian region. India generates 5.6 million tones of plastic waste
annually. In this large plastic waste there is a large share of the metro cities [4].

Terminology In Healthcare
The process of improvements in healthcare for the United States has been a
continuous battle with many obstacles and challenges. With that being said, our
health care system is now relying on the technology resources to develop and
maintain an efficient electronic health record. Therefore, one of the major benefits of
having an electronic health records would be the advance interoperability to

challenges with effective data exchange is due to the many different ways that
terminology is used in the healthcare systems (Pamela K. Oachs, 2016). Under those
circumstances, I am going to describe three different clinical terminology systems

The Lord Of The King
The Israelites were simply unable to follow the word of the Lord, were constantly
disobeyed him, thus offending and angering the Lord. In order to control them, the
Lord set, what would become, a long line of judges, or chieftains. The duties of
these men were to follow the word of the Lord, and to entrust the word of G d into
their followers. Their first judge was Othniel the Kenizzite, and in the case of
Othniel, the spirit of the Lord descended upon him and he became Israel s chieftain.
(Judges. 3:9 10). By the rule of this man, the Israeliteswent to war, won, and the land
had peace for forty years. (Judges. 3:11). This man was loyal, strong, and proactive
in his duties to protect and maintain peace in his land. The next judge was Ehud,
who was sent by the Lord to kill King Eglon of Moab, who the Lord had let rule
over the Israelites as their punishment for offending Him. This man was not only
cynical in the casual murder of Eglon, but also proved extremely loyal to the Lord.
He then went on to slay over 10,000 Moabites, which made his land tranquil for
eighty years. (Judges. 3:30). After the death of Ehud, the Israelites again angered the
Lord, and he made them suffer for twenty years at the hands of King Jabin of Canaan.
Following their cries, the Lord appointed Deborah. She fearlessly led 10,000 men up
Mount Tabor, in pursue of defeating Jabin s army commander, and, much like Ehud,
cynically murdered the man while he slept trusting next to her. While the list
Examples Of Spitz In The Call Of The Wild
1. Describe Spitz s character using examples from the chapter to support your
answer. A: Spitz is the lead sled dog on Francois and Perrault s sled team for the
first three chapters. He is very mean, evil, and megalomaniac. Spitz is a mean and
evil dog because every chance he gets he bullies Buck and the other dogs. For
example, in the chapter it says, He even went out of his way to bully Buck, striving
constantly to start a fight which could end only in the death of one or the other.
Spitz is also a megalomaniac because he has a continuous desire for power and
dominance. For example, in the chapter it says, Spitz was a practiced fighter. From
Spitzbergen through the Arctic, and across Canada and the Barrens, he had held his
own with all manner of dogs and achieved to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

How does Buck begin to undermine Spitz s authority in this chapter? What were the
effects of Buck s actions? What does this say about Buck s transformation from a
southland dog? A: Buck begins to undermine Spitz s authority by standing up for
himself and others. Buck does this when he attacks Spitz for stealing his sleeping
nest. Buck also stands up for others when he attacks Spitz before he could reach
Pike. For example, in the chapter it says, But when he was at last unearthed, and
Spitz flew at him to punish him, Buck flew, with equal rage, in between. The
effects of Bucks actions include a storm that starts brewing in both Buck and Spitz,
continual bickering and jangling between the dogs, and a general insubordination
increase. The storm that brews in Buck and Spitz is the fact that one of these times
they are going to fight, and one of those fights will be to the death. The
insubordination increase means that there is more defiance of authority and refusal
to obey orders. This says Buck s transformation from a southland dog is becoming
closer to complete every day as he grows stronger, learns new things, adapts, and
becomes a dominant primordial beast like his past

Margaret Atwood Surfacing Essay
The Black and White World of Atwood s Surfacing
Many people elect to view the world and life as a series of paired opposites love and
hate, birth and death, right and wrong. As Anne Lamott said, it is so much easier to
embrace absolutes than to suffer reality (104). This quote summarizes the thoughts of
the narrator in Margaret Atwood s novel Surfacing. The narrator, whose name is
never mentioned, must confront a past that she has tried desperately to ignore (7).
She sees herself and the world around her as either the innocent victim or the
victimizer, never both. Atwoods use of opposing characters and themes throughout
the novel serves to support the narrators view of life as black and white, things that

Random Samples, the narrator remains on the steps, watching. I wanted to run
down to the dock and stop them, fighting was wrong, we weren t allowed to, if we
did both sides got punished as in a real war (136).
This scene proves to be the turning point in the eyes of the narrator, for the masks
that David and Anna had worn were slowly crumbling. Anna runs off and sleeps
with Joe, leaving David alone. She has become the victimizer. Conversely, David
sees himself as the victim. You don t know what she does to me, he said with a
slight whine. She asks for it, she makes me do it (138). Like Anna, he continues to put
up a front to maintain his status in the relationship. Because they have both grown
comfortable in their assumed roles, pulling themselves out of it becomes too difficult,
too painful. The narrator sees this and can identify. This may be why she chooses not
to intervene on Anna s behalf.
Atwood places great emphasis on the narrator s feelings towards both Americans and
Canadians. In the novel, America represents the great victimizer, while Canada
represents the victim. Author Robert Lecker notes that The narrator is under the

Religious Influence In The Aztec s Judicial System
The Aztec Empire upheld a very sophisticated, potent, and harsh legal system. The
judicial system they had resembles a modern one today: it was made up of multiple
courts with differing levels of jurisdiction, such as trial courts, appellate courts, and a
supreme court. Moreover, citizens could appeal rulings to a higher court if they did
not agree with the ruling they were given from the judge. Although the Aztecs were
very religious, they preferred to be swift and empirical when it came to the law,
choosing to judge a criminal without their religious beliefs interfering. This, however,
did not apply to the sentences and punishments given to the criminals. Some
sentences were given without their religion interfering, such as slavery and
mutilation. In other cases, punishments, such as human sacrifice, were for a religious
purpose. These harsh sentences and punishments helped the AztecEmpire effectively
instill fear into the people, which helped maintain control.
The court system was comprised of various courts with different levels of
jurisdiction. These courts were the trial courts, appellate courts, and a supreme court.
The trial courts were known as Teccalli courts, and heard civil and criminal cases
involving commoners; civil judgments by this court were considered final, but

A Note On The Value Of Physical Contact
Humans are oriented around touch. Babies crave nurturing and nearness to their
mother from the minute they exit the womb. Something as simple as a warm
embrace can wipe sorrow and stress away. This need for physical contact is the
reason why letters carry so much more value than an email or text message. Letters
are tangible: they re a piece of paper that can be stored in a drawer or tacked up on
a wall. They require time and attention to write, so they are able to convey such an
emotional closeness people who are far away. There is such a stark contrast
between dialogue and text: people are often more willing to honestly write down
their feelings to express them aloud. That is why Mark Dunn held true to the
passions of his hyper literate Nollopians by deciding write his debut novelentirely in
letters; they mean something to people, especially those who are in love.
Mittie is a prime example of this concept seeing as she keeps a box of all the letters
she had received from Amos dating back long before the alphabet began to fall
apart. Reading these letters her mother had treasured actually gave Ella a sense of
comfort when she was almost entirely alone on Nollop: I miss ewe all teeplee. I reat
letters teer, sweet letters ewe wrote to Pop warm, engaging letters Pop wrote to
eww...I reat tem to gain neeted inspiration (Dunn 187). Letters, such as the ones
written by Mittie and Amos, have a way of revealing the author s personality, their
voice to put it in English terms.

The Arabs By David Lamb
People look through the eyes of the beholder when they regard others on this
planet. It is no small thing to forget everything that you have learned when meeting
neighbors. Humans form preconceived notions and in that, make choices and
judgments on others. This is human nature, trying to figure out, understand, what
others are like so we can figure out how to relate to them. David Lamb s book The
Arabs is a learned look at the Arab culture through his eyes. David was a
correspondent and has been all over the world. As a reporter he has used his ability
to merge with the cultures he reports on, to get an overall picture that he presents.
The Arabs, by David Lamb seems to try and give an accurate presentation of the
current world of the Arabs, but does reinforce some of the Western stereotypes in
his book. Lamb opens up about everything he sees, but what he cannot ignore is the
Muslim religion Islam. But the Arab remains always the Arab, a man held hostage
by religion and culturally obsessed with identity . This opening statement describes
what a lot of Westerner s feel when it comes to talking about the Arabs, and that is
their faith is the Arab. The West has a hard time separating the two and Lamb made
no real try. In fact he explains the Arabs, through their faith, is the reason they
actually do many things. While Lamb is in Cairo he talks of how the city is in
downturn. The phrase that sticks out is the IBM Syndrome: inshallah (If God is
willing), bokra
Wound Mold
One of the last places you want to run into mold is inside of your fridge. However,
your fridge is the perfect place for mold to thrive, with all that moisture inside and
the dark quarters. Luckily, with a few basic supplies you ll be able to eradicate the
mold in your fridge.
Act Fast
It is important that you act fast. As soon as you spot mold in your fridge, you need to
make time that day to clean and remove the mold. If you let the mold continue to sit
in your fridge, the spores can easily spread and ruin additional food in your fridge.
Make Sure You Protect Yourself
Mold spores affect each individual differently. Although the mold spores found on
food are not generally toxic to humans, it doesn t mean you should be breathing in the
spores.
You may want to wear a mask as well... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more you can minimize contact with the mold, the better.
Gather The Right Supplies
In addition to protective gear, you also need the right cleaning supplies. You can
purchase a kitchen mold cleaner from the cleaning section of a local store.
Or, you can make your own mold cleaner. All you need to do is create a cleaning
solution of one part water to one part. For convenience, you should put the cleaning
solution in a spray bottle.
Tackle The Job
Once you have all the right supplies, it is time to tackle the job. If only an enclosed
drawer in your fridge is affected with the mold, you can focus on cleaning that
target area. However, if the mold is in an open area of the fridge, you need to clean
your entire fridge.
First, remove all the food that has visible mold on it. If there is food that is
touching the mold, you should also remove that food. It could already be infected
with mold spores that just have not had enough time to grow so that you could see
them. Once you have thrown away all the mold infested and possible contaminated
food, seal off the trash bag and take it

Essay Writing On Music.pdf

  • 1. Essay Writing On Music Writing an essay on the topic of music can be both a delightful and challenging endeavor. On one hand, the vastness of the subject offers a plethora of possibilities for exploration, allowing for a rich and diverse discussion. On the other hand, this very breadth can pose a challenge, as the writer must navigate through the vast landscape of musical genres, historical contexts, cultural influences, and individual preferences. To embark on such a task, one must possess not only a passion for music but also a keen understanding of its multifaceted nature. The challenge lies in presenting a comprehensive view that encapsulates the essence of music, from its theoretical foundations to its emotional impact. Balancing technical aspects with the subjective and emotional dimensions requires a delicate touch, ensuring that the essay appeals to both musicians and those with a more casual appreciation for the art form. Moreover, the task involves selecting and organizing information effectively, choosing the right examples, and seamlessly weaving together a narrative that captures the reader's attention. The essay must strike a balance between informative and engaging, offering insights that are both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant. In addition, the writer must consider the diverse perspectives on music – be it historical, cultural, or personal – and skillfully integrate them into a cohesive narrative. This requires research, critical thinking, and the ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner. Ultimately, the difficulty in writing an essay on music lies in the multifaceted nature of the subject and the challenge of doing justice to its richness. However, with dedication, a deep appreciation for the subject matter, and effective writing skills, one can navigate these challenges and produce an essay that not only informs but also inspires. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any other writing tasks, there are resources available. When kids and teens get out in the woods, many times there is not internet, or cell service. Although hiking sounds like the best activity ever, as with any argument, there is an opposing side to this argument. Some people think that hiking is not a thorough exercise, because whenever the hiker gets tired, he or she can simply turn around and come back to civilization. Occasionally, there is no motivation for the hiker to go hiking, especially if there is inclement weather. It was mentioned earlier that rock climbing was a more extreme form of hiking, but some say that rock climbing is an entire different sport with an entirely distinct set of problems. Despite these issues, hiking is still one of the best activities for people to participate in. Several of the issues are only what the public perceives of hiking, countless adamant hikers hike even if it is raining, and when it is raining, some animals come out, this gives even more motivation to hike in the rain. The majority of hikers do not turn around while hiking because they want to get to the top of the mountain, or there a serene mountain tarn. numerous hikers will not turn around unless there is an extreme weather condition, or they are seriously injured. Overall, hiking is the best activity for a whole body workout, and has the benefit of the whole family being able to participate in this activity. A little more rigorous

How Did The Devil s Arithmetic Change Throughout The Movie There were many significant changes in the movie Devil s Arithmetic, all of these changes in the movie altered the integrity of the whole story and plot. These changes were taking out main characters, altering scenes, taking out scenes, and adding new scenes that were not in the book. In the movie, the movie director took out many main characters. Two of the characters that were taken out of the movie was Aaron and Gitl. The movie director could have made this significant change for many reasons. The most insightful reason the movie director took Aaron and Gitl out of the movie were because the director thought that they had minor roles so why do you need characters that have so minor roles. • 5. Forced Migration Essay In the per modern era, human migration was a well known occurrence that was caused by either force or willingness of the people. When migration was constituted through force, it was understood to be through political or economical duress. For instance, political measures unveiling large tax reforms created unbearable cost of living standards for the poor to survive. Whereas, increased economic labour created through force, was established for the rich to reap the benefits from majority of the poor. In essence, this widened the gap of economic dualism by forcing majority of the lower class people into living standards well below the poverty levels. In 800 B.C.E., two centuries later, the Assyrians conquered the north, and many of the Jews of Israel were deported (Ardito, Gambaro and Torrefranca p.42). Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit in Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit in Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha Each of us has innate desire to understand the purpose of our existence. As Hermann Hesse illustrates in his novel Siddhartha, the journey to wisdom may be difficult. Organized religion helps many to find meaning in life but it does not substitute careful introspection. An important message of Siddhartha is that to achieve enlightenment one must unite the experiences of mind, body, and spirit. In the first part of the book, Siddhartha is consumed by his thirst for knowledge. He joined the samanas and listened to the teachings of the Buddha in attempt to discern the true way to Nirvana. Though he perfected the arts of meditation and self denial, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He proclaimed, I had to sink to the greatest mental depths, ...in order to experience grace, ...to sleep deeply and awaken refreshed again (78). When he stopped his religious pilgrimage for the pleasures of a senseless life his quest for inner direction seemed to be setback, but this was actually imperative in moving forward to find himself. He unknowingly achieved the second step in his journey and was left with just one more stage. Siddhartha then discovered his spirit through a series of events that refreshed and awakened him. Then from a remote part of his soul, from the past of his tired life, he heard a sound (72). At the moment Siddhartha attempted to sink himself into oblivion by drowning himself in the river, his soul was revived by the holy Om. Hesse states that this sound came from his past, indicating that without his previous experiences, he could not be conscious of Brahman, of the indestructibleness of life (72). When Siddhartha endured his revelation by the river he realized that his sins had ironically allowed him to begin anew. When he found Atman in himself by forgetting his power to think, it showed that his inner direction in truth guided him towards peace. While Siddhartha succeeded in recognizing his soul, he still did not know how it fit into the unity of all things. Siddhartha learned a valuable lesson in his inner journey by again
  • 7. Character Analysis Of Oliver Twist The story of Oliver Twist was originally written by Charles Dickens. It follows a young boy called Oliver on his adventures around England from one place to the next. On his journey, he becomes a workhouse boy, a runaway, a thief and a respectable gentleman. He is taught these traits by some people who have good morals and some people who are amoral. Mr. Bumble is the town beadle, he looks after the towns orphans and the poor. He is well paid but he is not wealthy. Mr. Bumble wishes and aspires to be part of the board of directors. After Oliver asks for more food one day, Mr. Bumble brings him to stand in front of the board of directors. They give Mr. Bumble the task of finding Oliver an apprenticeship to get him out of the workhouse. Mr. Sowerberry makes coffins and takes in Oliver as an apprentice. He is quite a nice person and if he had been left to his own devices, he would have been very lovely and caring towards Oliver. The only problem was that Mr. Sowerberry was quite cowardly and scared of his wife Mrs. Sowerberry who was mean and resented Oliver. Mr. Sowerberry has good morals but is influenced by someone who is amoral. Noah Claypole is Mr. Sowerberry s assistant and an outright bully. As soon as Oliver had arrived, Noah teased poor Oliver. Most of the time the maid, Charlotte would help Noah. She never realized that she was doing something wrong she thought it was just a game. Noah became jealous when Oliver was chosen to be the mute in the funeral parade,

When I would finally get the chance to be with my best friends and take a road trip to California to go to Disney Land, and now that the time to take that trip has come and gone I would like to talk about my most important journey. Once I woke up I called Alavee to make sure he was awake. I m glad he was because he saved me some time by calling Priya and Rigo to make sure they were getting ready to go. About an hour and a half later we all met up in the school parking lot at about the same time. The next day we wanted to head out early so we could make it to Colorado and have time to see some sites and visit my aunt and uncle. After we said thanks for letting us stay with my Aunt Alks and Uncle Pinakin s house, we were on our way. I wasn t really looking forward to the drive ahead because I remember how long it was the first time I had to make the trip, and it gets uncomfortable. The only thing I like when we go to Colorado is that we lose an hour. This was probably the most boring trip on our journey because most of the land we traveled was in Nebraska and it was flat and plain. There was nothing really significant about this trip until we got to Colorado. Flat land changed into mountains and country turned into city. That part of it was really interesting because it was like we could see the invisible line separating Colorado and Nebraska. It took us a little while to find my aunt in Golden, Colorado because the directions were a little hard to follow. I guess no one wanted to see anything because almost as soon as we were

I should reasonably establish an effort to find alternative solutions to this problem. Some of the things I could explore would be to ask the manufacturer if they have loaner drones we could use for the next months they may not meet our needs perfectly but would be good enough until we customize drones can be delivered. We could try to find another drone manufacturer who could deliver the drones sooner, but possibly at a higher price. We could then ask the original drone manufacturer to pay the incremental costs of having another firm rush build the drones for us. Another solution would be to subcontract out the drone work for our firm until we the drones are delivered. Lastly, we could ask our customer to push back their surveys to a later date once we have the drones offering some sort of discount for their flexibility. All of these solutions would probably end up cost my firm more than if the drones had been originally delivered on time, but some options would result in damages to be recovered. The law says that as long as any of these solutions are reasonably my firm should attempt to reduce damages as much as possible. When a party must breach a contract the

Author :16042284 Image source: Geneva MotorShow (2013) Abstract : This paper caters to the reality, based on facts of carbon emissions, of electric cars doubting the sustainability factor for the claims of the cars. The paper details what exactly electric cars are, their manufacturing , mechanism and the carbon pollution emitted by them in the primary stage ,i.e. Manufacturing. Also, it throws a limelight on the resources used to charge these electric cars and how adversely it affects the climate if the resources used to charge the cars are non renewable resources, such as charging cars which derive their electricity from national grid, which in most countries is produced by coal (a highly polluting and carbon emitting and non renewable source of energy). Methodology : The methodology used in this paper is based on the research reports and articles published overtime on online platforms. Graphs and figures are represented to get better clarity of the various comparisons made. Also, the positive and negative impacts of electric cars has been expressed for overall understanding. Definition : Electric Cars are vehicles that use electrical potential energy which is then stored in rechargeable batteries (chemical energy) to propel at least one electric motor, converting it into kinetic energy. Considering the data and evidence collected from both primary, secondary and additional sources, I can conclude that my hypothesis, which suggests that the higher the food colouring concentration, the steeper the gradient of diffusion reaction, is valid. To support my hypothesis I will refer to my primary, secondary and additional evidence to explain my conclusions in depth. Firstly, if we consider the data collected in tables from my primary and secondary evidence, we can see that the values of the range of diffusion reaction are higher when the concentration of food colouring dye used is higher in percentage. Specifically, when the concentration is at 0%, there is no diffusion reaction at all. In contrast, as we increase the percentage of food dye used by a specific set value (+20% each time) the distance (radius or diameter) of food dye formed from diffusion around the well becomes steeper. For example, 20% of food dye concentration diffused presents the lowest means: 12.3mm (primary data) and 2.3mm (secondary data, where the radius has been measured instead of ... To be specific, diffusion is a process in which substances move down a concentration gradient, from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration to reach the equilibrium. It eventually diffuses through agar, (agar being the region having no concentration of food dye particles) at a certain rate, depending on the concentration of the food dye to reach the equilibrium. When doing my practical and collecting data, food dye with higher concentration diffused through agar had a bigger gradient of diffusion(bigger area around the wells), which presents higher values exactly as I predicted in my

This is a link of project risk management during which the PM and the project team can use the analysis result from prior assessments and choose the effective risk managementstrategy. By planning risk response, the project s risks can be addressed with their priority, insert resources, and activities, and put into the triple constrains plans if needed (PMI, 2013, p. 342). The inputs for this risk management process is quite simple, based on our textbook, it only needs the risk management plan and the risk register for applying the risk respond planning process (PMI, 2013, p. 342). Since identifying risk responsibilities is a crucial section within planning the risk responds; and the risk thresholds can help to identify specific risk responses of project risks, the Risk management plan is therefore the crucial element for the planning of risk response process. Moreover, the updated Risk register can provide required risks information for developing risk responses, so it becomes another main input for risk response planning process (PMI, 2013, p. 343). Furthermore, the output from this risk management process is also simple but crucial. The main question becomes, if there is a god and that this god is incomprehensible, then what is the point in believing whether or not such a being a actually exists? It would obviously follow that we would never come to a full understanding of this god, and any efforts to believe in or worship him would be in vain. In order to control them, the Lord set, what would become, a long line of judges, or chieftains. The duties of these men were to follow the word of the Lord, and to entrust the word of G d into their followers. Their first judge was Othniel the Kenizzite, and in the case of Othniel, the spirit of the Lord descended upon him and he became Israel s chieftain. (Judges. 3:9 10). By the rule of this man, the Israeliteswent to war, won, and the land had peace for forty years. (Judges. 3:11). This man was loyal, strong, and proactive in his duties to protect and maintain peace in his land. The next judge was Ehud, who was sent by the Lord to kill King Eglon of Moab, who the Lord had let rule over the Israelites as their punishment for offending Him. This man was not only cynical in the casual murder of Eglon, but also proved extremely loyal to the Lord. He then went on to slay over 10,000 Moabites, which made his land tranquil for eighty years. (Judges. 3:30). After the death of Ehud, the Israelites again angered the Lord, and he made them suffer for twenty years at the hands of King Jabin of Canaan. Following their cries, the Lord appointed Deborah. She fearlessly led 10,000 men up Mount Tabor, in pursue of defeating Jabin s army commander, and, much like Ehud, cynically murdered the man while he slept trusting next to her. While the list

A: Spitz is the lead sled dog on Francois and Perrault s sled team for the first three chapters. He is very mean, evil, and megalomaniac. Spitz is a mean and evil dog because every chance he gets he bullies Buck and the other dogs. For example, in the chapter it says, He even went out of his way to bully Buck, striving constantly to start a fight which could end only in the death of one or the other. How does Buck begin to undermine Spitz s authority in this chapter? What were the effects of Buck s actions? What does this say about Buck s transformation from a southland dog? A: Buck begins to undermine Spitz s authority by standing up for himself and others. Buck does this when he attacks Spitz for stealing his sleeping nest. Buck also stands up for others when he attacks Spitz before he could reach Pike. For example, in the chapter it says, But when he was at last unearthed, and Spitz flew at him to punish him, Buck flew, with equal rage, in between. The effects of Bucks actions include a storm that starts brewing in both Buck and Spitz, continual bickering and jangling between the dogs, and a general insubordination increase. The storm that brews in Buck and Spitz is the fact that one of these times they are going to fight, and one of those fights will be to the death. The insubordination increase means that there is more defiance of authority and refusal to obey orders. This says Buck s transformation from a southland dog is becoming closer to complete every day as he grows stronger, learns new things, adapts, and becomes a dominant primordial beast like his past

I wanted to run down to the dock and stop them, fighting was wrong, we weren t allowed to, if we did both sides got punished as in a real war (136). This scene proves to be the turning point in the eyes of the narrator, for the masks that David and Anna had worn were slowly crumbling. Anna runs off and sleeps with Joe, leaving David alone. She has become the victimizer. Conversely, David sees himself as the victim. You don t know what she does to me, he said with a slight whine. She asks for it, she makes me do it (138). Like Anna, he continues to put up a front to maintain his status in the relationship. Because they have both grown comfortable in their assumed roles, pulling themselves out of it becomes too difficult, too painful. The narrator sees this and can identify. This may be why she chooses not to intervene on Anna s behalf. Atwood places great emphasis on the narrator s feelings towards both Americans and Canadians. In the novel, America represents the great victimizer, while Canada represents the victim. Author Robert Lecker notes that The narrator is under the illusion that both

The judicial system they had resembles a modern one today: it was made up of multiple courts with differing levels of jurisdiction, such as trial courts, appellate courts, and a supreme court. Moreover, citizens could appeal rulings to a higher court if they did not agree with the ruling they were given from the judge. Although the Aztecs were very religious, they preferred to be swift and empirical when it came to the law, choosing to judge a criminal without their religious beliefs interfering. This, however, did not apply to the sentences and punishments given to the criminals. Some sentences were given without their religion interfering, such as slavery and mutilation. In other cases, punishments, such as human sacrifice, were for a religious purpose. These harsh sentences and punishments helped the AztecEmpire effectively instill fear into the people, which helped maintain control. • 40. A Note On The Value Of Physical Contact Humans are oriented around touch. Babies crave nurturing and nearness to their mother from the minute they exit the womb. Something as simple as a warm embrace can wipe sorrow and stress away. This need for physical contact is the reason why letters carry so much more value than an email or text message. Letters are tangible: they re a piece of paper that can be stored in a drawer or tacked up on a wall. They require time and attention to write, so they are able to convey such an emotional closeness people who are far away. There is such a stark contrast between dialogue and text: people are often more willing to honestly write down their feelings to express them aloud. That is why Mark Dunn held true to the passions of his hyper literate Nollopians by deciding write his debut novelentirely in letters; they mean something to people, especially those who are in love.
