1. Water Cycle Essay
Crafting an essay on the water cycle can be both challenging and rewarding. The complexity
arises not from the scarcity of information, but rather from the need to strike a balance between
scientific accuracy and reader comprehension. The water cycle is a dynamic and intricate process
involving the continuous movement of water between the atmosphere, land, and oceans. The
challenge lies in presenting this intricate system in a way that is accessible to a diverse audience,
from students to professionals.
Moreover, delving into the various phases of the water cycle—evaporation, condensation,
precipitation, and more—requires a nuanced understanding of each stage and its
interconnections. Presenting this information coherently while maintaining a clear and engaging
narrative can be a daunting task. Striking the right balance between technical details and layman-
friendly language is crucial, as the goal is to educate and captivate the reader.
Research plays a pivotal role in essay writing, and for a topic like the water cycle, staying
updated with the latest scientific findings is essential. Integrating current research findings and
advancements into the essay adds an extra layer of depth, making the content more relevant and
informative.
Additionally, creating a seamless flow between the introduction, body, and conclusion is vital to
ensure that the essay is cohesive and logically structured. The conclusion should not only
summarize the key points but also leave a lasting impression on the reader, reinforcing the
significance of understanding the water cycle.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the water cycle demands a delicate balance between scientific
rigor and accessibility. It requires a thorough understanding of the subject, effective
communication skills, and the ability to engage a diverse audience. While challenging, the
process is undoubtedly rewarding, as it allows the writer to convey the beauty and importance of
the water cycle to readers. For those seeking assistance in essay writing or exploring similar
topics, various resources are available, such asHelpWriting.net, where one can find support for
crafting well-researched and articulate essays.

2. The Values Of The Culture Industry Plays Up On Our...
Every community has its own set of standards that the members adhere to and
uphold. These ideologies are often unspoken ways of thinking, and while they reflect
the society s values, they are often represented in a distorted manner so that the
social system stays in order. Interpellation, on the other hand, is what discreetly
holds each person in their societal position, often based on ideologies. Whether we
realize it or not, the culture industry plays up on our societal ideologies, especially in
movies and televisionprograms. Think of a typical children s TV sitcom; most of
these programs depict a white, middle class, suburban family with two heterosexual
parents, three children, a pet. Each element of this average family is ideological in
assuming that the audiences expects and believes in, or are a part of, this familial
structure. By endorsing these ways of thinking, the program is relating to the
audience and validating their beliefs. For example, a young girl interpellates when
she recognizes herself as a daughter, and thus, she gives her parents power.
Children s television is not the only ideology industry; all forms of entertainment
often reflect multiple ideologies at any given moment. Tina Fey s satirical comedy,
30 Rock, provides plenty of nods to ideologies surrounding the workplace,
specifically the entertainment business. In the fifth episode of season one, Jack Tor,
Jack Donaghy, the big shot Vice President of East Coast Television and Microwave

In both passages the characters show a characterasation from them selfs by their
diologue for example on the passage Oliver Twist written by Charles Dickens
showed bravery and In the passage From A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
wriiten by James Joyce shows curiosity. Both characters come from the same place
a orphanage so they both show similar characteristics. As the author s both have a
similar idea of the passages both of their main characters are different. In the
passage Oliver Twist is a small boy living in a orphanage who is suffering and i can
infer this because in the passage it states The room in which the boys were fed, was
a large stone hall, with a copper at one end: out of which the master, dressed in an...

to laugh with them. He felt his whole body hot and confused in a moment. What
was the right answer to the question? He had given two and still Wells laughed at

explains that the character stephen was a very confused boy because all he wanted
to do is fit in but all the other boys made fun of him so he had a lot of curiosity.
Also it states He drank another cup of hot tea and Fleming said: What s up? Have

4. The 400 Blows By Francois Truffaut
The 400 Blows is a great film. It is a testimony to Francois Truffaut s greatness.
This is a film about a young French boy that has a troubled childhood. He was a
rebel of sorts. He got in some trouble in the classroom and out of the classroom. He
wasn t necessarily more troublesome than any other kid during that time. I think he
is misunderstood and put in difficult situations. This French Film Noir had music,
scenery, and a unique freeze frame that made this film great. Music added to this
film. French music and classical music was played in the background. At no time
was there any lyrics to the songs being played. I think this was advantageous as the
camera angles captured the emotion of Antoine and other characters. Also the
scene itself often in Paris was full of hustle and bustle. It s a big city so the city
sounds where heard. Thus music with lyrics were not needed. I think the final
scene is a great scene. This scene is of Antoine running away for the last time
going to the ocean. Quiet and unique percussion music was being played as he was
running towards the ocean. Scenery itself was set for the most part in Paris France.
This was a city that was full of business day and night. The streets were crowded
with pedestrians and cars were seen zooming by. This reflected how a boy such as
Antoine could be forgotten and entangled with skipping school and other poor
choices. The scene where Antoine is skipping school with his other school buddy
indicates how he really was
5. The Impact of Technology
Technology, mainly computers and video games, have made a vast difference in
our society. Many years ago there were not very many forms of technology that
existed. People often used type writers, went, dancing, did puzzle, and played board
games for entertainment. Nowadays, the use of computers has become extremely
popular. If an individual is not using a computer for some form on entertainment,
they are most likely using it for something along the lines of school or work.
Technology has gone from being a convenient tool to being a bad impact on society.
Not only is it insulting the intelligence of many young adults, but it is also taking
away from one s social behavior. Some people, however, disagree and think

For example, some will say that technology is very convenient and enhances
knowledge. In his article, Steven Lohr says, On average, students in online
learning conditions performed better than those receiving face to face instruction.
Although this may be true for some individuals, there are a majority of others who
will argue that this statement is wrong. He also states, The real promise of online
education, experts say, is providing learning experiences that are more tailored to
individual students than is possible in classrooms. That enables more learning by
doing, which many students find more engaging and useful. This article is leaning
more towards the idea that online education is a better choice than classroom
education. This idea could go both ways. It mostly depends on the preferred
learning style of the student. If the student learns better by reading the required
learning material, then he or she would probably agree that online courses are
easier for them. However, if the student is a more visual learner, then he or she may
learn better by being in a classroom and being physically taught. They may also
agree that taking online courses make knowledge valueless. There are also many
individuals out there who will argue that video games have positive effects on
children in our society today. In an online article, James Robers shares that, The
online video games that children play require abstract thinking skills
6. Summary OfAll Summer In A Day By Ray Bradbury
In the story, All Summer in a Day, Ray Bradbury draws us in, as readers, with a
story that takes place on the planet Venus. The environment of Venus is as
described in this quote, It had been raining for seven years; thousands upon
thousands of days compounded and filled from one end to the other with rain,
with the gush and gush of water...fall of showers and the concussion of storms so
heavy they were tidal waves come over the islands... (Bradbury, 1954) With an
environment like this, what type of people would those on Venus be if they had
never felt, saw, or experienced the sun before? The only one that has experienced
and remembers the sun is a young girl, Margot. Margot lived on Earth until she
was four years old, unlike the others who have been living underground in Venus
for their entire lives. Because of this, Margot is constantly facing problems
regarding her classmates jealousy of her past opportunities. Without the sun, she
has become, as Bradbury writes, ...a very frail girl who looked as if she had been
lost in the rain for years and the rain had washed out the blue from her eyes and the
red from her mouth and the yellow from her hair. She was an old photograph
dusted from an album, whitened away, and if she spoke at all her voice would be a
ghost. (1954, Bradbury) In this short story by Bradbury, the theme is that jealousy
and ignorance can blind us from seeing things how they really are. This is shown
time after time when Margot is harassed, depressed, and isolated because of her
classmates jealousy. To begin, a way that Bradbury shows us that jealousy and
ignorance can shield a person from the truth is through the main character, Margot,
who is constantly being harassed by her classmates. The only reason Margot s
classmates harass her is because she remembers the sun. This makes her different
from all the others, who have lived here on Venus since birth. In this way, they are
uneducated or ignorant because they have never experienced the sun. Because she is
different, the classmates take every chance they have to harass her in any way they
can. Right before the sun came out, one of the rare events that Margot was greatly
looking forward to, the classmates ...surged about her, caught her
7. Social Theory And Social Judgement Theory
Abstract
The topic to be discussed here is one of the social sciences based on the theories
Groupthink and Social Judgement Theory. I will propose a study to analyze the
relationship between the number of hours of media an individual receives and its
effects on his or her voting behavior. The participants of this proposed study will be
registered voters between the ages of eighteen and seventy and residents of the United
States of America. The primary method of collecting data will be through surveys.
Once the data has been, collected a multiple regression will be constructed. Please
note, the terms person, individual, subject, and voter are used interchangeably
throughout the document.
Introduction
This document discusses a proposed study that analyzes a person s media exposure
and how that effects his or her voting behaviors. Throughout this document I will
discuss the theories associated with the proposed study as well as how this study
could impact the theories and everyday life that the theories are based upon.
Associated Theories
The proposed study is based upon two theories: Groupthink and Social Judgement
Theory.
Groupthink can be described as a phenomena that causes a group of people to become
so extremely concerned with unanimity that each person makes decisions without
considering all of his or her options. This type of phenomena tends to hold a negative
connotation because the thought process associated with the theory causes people to
fall to peer
8. Terrorist Cyber Attacks
Terrorist cyber attacks on national institutions will result in greater devastation than a
cyber crime directed against an individual. At the current rate in which technology is
increasing, establishments must constantly upgrade their system s security. If the
national institutions fail to be vigilant to the present day cyber threats, they will
become victims of terrorist cyber attacks. Our nation s government, military,
scientific, commercial and entertainment sectors all operate on the same networks as
our adversaries (Alexander 18). A terrorist cyber attackthat is successful, has the
potential to put people at risk, by allowing sensitive information to get into the wrong
hands, disrupting resources, or by altering system information in corporations, to
cause harm or confusion. Since a terroristic attack is focused on causing violence or
chaos, the targets at risk would be energy sources and electric grids, water and sewer
systems, manufacturing, banks, transportation and communication networks
(Brenner 15). The source of a terrorist cyber attack can be from a foreign
government or criminal entities, as well as a disgruntle employee. An example of a
disgruntle employee who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

government is capable of dealing with terroristic cyber attacks and is aware of the
current technological advancements, which could compromise their defense. The
Secretary of defense, in 2009, created the U.S. Cyber Command department to assist
in the defense of our nation (Alexander 21). A strong cyber defense provides the
essential assurance for the government and private sector to operate securely. The
United States government is actively countering these cyber attacks, since very few

describes the legend of Narcissus. Narcissus was a man who kneeled by the lake
everyday just to admire his own reflection; however, he became so infatuated with
his reflection that he drowned in the lake from trying to kiss the beautiful being that

because his eyes reflected the beauty of the lake back to itself.

14. A Short Note On The Constellation Of Cancer
Cancer (constellation) в™‹
The constellation of Cancer is one of the 88 modern constellations: located between
the constellations Leo, Hydra and Gemini at between 07h 55m 19.7973s and 09h
22m 35.0364s right ascension and 33.1415138В° and 6.4700689В° declination. It is
also one of the 12 Zodiac constellations and one of the original 48 listed by the
ancient Greek astronomer Ptolemy. Its name is Latin for crab and its astrological
symbol is в™‹, which represents crab pincers. This constellation attracted my interest
because it contains a galaxy with a binary supermassive black hole system: OJ 287.
The constellation of Cancer as it can be seen in the sky.
In the mythology of The Twelve Labours of Heracles (or Hercules in Roman
mythology) Cancer is a crab sent by Hera to hinder Heracles in his fight against
Hydra. Depending on the version of the story Heracles either kicks Cancer so hard
that the crab is stuck amongst the constellations, or he just crushes Cancer by
stomping on it and Hera places it in the sky for its bravery, but not in a bright part
of the sky because it did not complete its task (Cancer has only two stars brighter
than the 4th magnitude). Magnitude levels are levels of brightness, with lower
numbered levels being brighter than higher number levels (e.g. a magnitude level 1
is brighter than a magnitude 2). Some sources say that cancer was a late addition to
the story and that it was only included to make the 12 zodiac signs coincide with the

Mother tongue Since the tower of Babel incident, people in the world speak different
languages, some are similar to other, and some completely different. The English has
been around for more than a millennium and half. It derives from Latin, French,
German, and Greek, and some unknown languages. Always keepin its speaker
interested dragging more people to learn the language. The English language has
undergone many transformations from Old English to Middle Age English to
Modern English always policing itself. It has no dialect unlike Chinese, Russian,
Arabic etc.. but different accents which can be hard to understand. It can be a major
problem. English influence in East Africa and South Asia due to Colonization,
British have their own accent but they were teaching their colonies English which
result in a multitudes of accents Our difference makes us powerful. Should people

country who speaks Turkish now they great not teaching their languages, but they still

18. Rites Of Passage Analysis
Think of a monumental time in your life. Your monumental time in your life is
probably different to an Apache girl, Dachina, and the main character, Martin, in a
story the medicine bag. In Dachina s rite of passage is doing by doing a four day
tradition to become a women. During the four day she has to do stuff like, dance for
ten hours straight. Then, in Martin s rite of passagehis grandpa comes to give him the
medicine bag. During this, Grandpa is dying so he has to give Martin the medicine
bag before he dies. In my essay I explain, the similarities and differences between the
two rites of passage. I also explain, the advantages and disadvantages between video
and text.
There are a lot of similarities and differences between the medicine bag and the
apache girl. To start off, a similarity of these two rites of passage are that they are
both about a monumental time in the apache girl, Dachina, and the main character,
Martin, in the medicine bag. Like the Dachina s monumental time in her life is the
ritual to become a women. In addition to that, Martin s monumental time in his life
getting the medicine bag from his grandpa. Another similarity between the two
stories it that they both need their family to make the rites of passage possible. For
example, Martin need his grandpa to give him the medicine bag for him to
experience getting the medicine bag. Also, Dachina needs her family to help her to
get through the four day ritual like, they had to help prepare the food for
19. Outsiders In The Outsiders
Society has always been separated into stereotypical groups. Now a days, those
groups are represented by classes: lower, middle, and upper class. What about back
then? During the 1960 s in Tulsa, Oklahoma; high school student Susan Eloise Hinton
(S.E Hinton) writes a book called The Outsiders about the diverse groups in her town.
Between the Greasers and the Socs, who are the real outsiders of the story? Though
the groups are separated into privileged and unfortunate, the outsiders are the ones
who unintentionally disassociate themselves with their social clicks by socializing
with the opposite side and treating them respectfully.
The Socs are prosperous teens whom live on the opulent side of town. They re
thought to be smarter, sophisticated and less emotional than the Greasers, as shown
throughout parts of the story: There were a lot of Socs in that class I get put into A
classes because I m supposed to be smart and most of them thought it was pretty
funny. (Document B); You re more emotional. We re sophisticated ... (Document C).
The expectation of them is to be around other Socs, not to fraternize with someone
who s classified as lower than them. Cherry Valance, a Soc, is an outsider because
she feels comfortable talking with a younger Greaser named Ponyboy, who is also an
outsider, about things she s never told anyone before: She smiled at me. I never
told anyone that. I think you re the first person I ve ever really gotten through to.
She was coming through to me all right, probably because I was a Greaser, and
younger; she didn t have to keep her guard up with me. (Document C). It appears
that Socs are invariably showing a fabricated persona to other Socs to exude their
reputation: That was the truth. Socs were always behind a wall of aloofness,
careful not to let their real selves show through. (Document C). The same is with
another outsider, a Soc named Randy is afraid of being christened a coward if he
flees a fight and he d resent himself if he didn t walk away. Randy feels that
violence isn t going to solve any conflicts between the Greasers and the Socs, yet he
thinks about staying for the sake of his respectability: but what can I do? I m marked

20. Sexism And Its Effect On Society
Sexism in the society Sexism is a situation when people hold a belief which
supports discrimination against one gender. It is the prejudice held by people who
believe that one gender is superior to the other. In some cases, people have a belief
that women are not able to fit in certain careers and perform well in certain subjects.
Sexism manifests itself in different ways. To illustrate, women in some communities
are refrained from politics, military jobs, mathematics, and engineering careers,
among others. For those who get into these careers, they are also treated with less
concern and often given lower responsibilities in the view that they will not perform
as per the expectations. This belief affects the way people treat each other... Show

This has necessitated their liberation for them to contribute fully to the national
development. The Combahee River Collective statement explores the societal view of
sexism using the gender, class and race lenses. It notes the need for a progressive
society that judges women on their ability to participate in national development
regardless of their race and class.
The sexism views are further expounded by Clarke in her article Lesbianism: An act
of resistance. In concurrence with the Combahee River Collective, Clarke notes that
women are generally oppressed in most of the societies purely on the gender
grounds. The article, Lesbian: Act of Resistance notes that sexism is largely
propagated by the whites that work negatively for them. It hinders them from
achieving their full potential and inputs in national development. Clarke notes that
most societies view women as men properties, their servants and sexual tools. The
relationship appears more of that of slave and master and it leads to women
oppression. Racism and sexism theme is well expounded in this text. The paper calls
for a concerted effort among different players make sure that women are uplifted and
given the right chances and platforms to maximize their potential. Further, the author
establishes that sexism should had been viewed as a natural quality that women are
born with as opposed to grouping them as a weak institution.
In order to understand the effects of sexism in the society, it

22. Failure Of Nursing Medication Errors
Cause of Nursing Medication Errors Rebecka Rodriguez Adventist University of
Health Sciences Abstract: Nursing medication errors were examined by having
nurses take surveys based on their perception of why medication errors are occurring
as well as visiting their work setting and observing any errors. Nurses are encouraged
to take precaution when administering medications to ensure that the correct
medication as well as the dose, is given to the correct patient. It is imperative for
hospitals to enforce medication stipulations to ensure that nurses are double checking
medication labels. Studies show that causes of medication errors are due to nurse s
not understanding protocol, administration errors related to overworked weary...

Similar results were seen in data collected from thirty eight nurses by conducting
separate interviews to explain the occurrence of faults when giving medications. One
of the simplest tasks that patients entrust their nurse to be performing before
administration of medications is, checking that the medication correlates to the
patient. It is imperative for all nurses to be participating in double checking
medications to ensure it corresponds with the patient. In this study paediatric nurses
participated in interviews to see if nurses are truly checking medications.
Furthermore, home healthcare nurses were studied to verify their perception on
protocol for double checking medications. Lastly, it is apparent that many nurses are
not aware of what protocol is for their work facility. Similarly, in the previous study,
double checking medications is protocol for most if not all healthcare facilities. This
study asked nurses questions about them double checking medications and how often
do they perform it. It seems that not all nurses are on the same page with what
precautions need to be addressed in order to ensure safe drug management. In both
studies nurses were able to confess that many were not certain of the exact
stipulations that needed to be met by their
23. The Practice Of Paying Bonus
The practice of paying bonus in India appears to have originated during First World
War when certain textile mills granted 10% of wages as war bonus to their
workers in 1917. In certain cases of industrial disputes demand for payment of
bonus was also included. In 1950, the Full Bench of the Labour Appellate evolved a
formula for determination of bonus. A plea was made to raise that formula in 1959.
At the second and third meetings of the Eighteenth Session of Standing Labour
Committee (G. O.I.) held in New Delhi in March/April 1960, it was agreed that a
Commission be appointed to go into the question of bonus and evolve suitable norms.
A Tripartite Commission was set up by the Governmentof India to consider in a
comprehensive manner, the question of payment of bonus based on profits to
employees employed in establishments and to make recommendations to the
Government. The Government of Indiaaccepted the recommendations of the
Commission subject to certain modifications. To implement these recommendations
the Payment of Bonus Ordinance, 1965 was promulgated on 29th May, 1965. To
replace the said Ordinance the Payment of Bonus Bill was introduced in the
Parliament.

24. Personal Aspects Of My Personal Beliefs In Life
(3) My main beliefs in life is that life is an incredible gift, serve/put others first
whenever possible, be generous, and most importantly, be faithful and trust God
through all the ups and downs. These beliefs become embodied in the way I live
because when I am put in situations where I have to choose on sticking to my
beliefs or compromising it, I usually decide to stand firm on my beliefs. Serving
/putting others first whenever possible is a very humbling experience and also a
belief I truly cherish because it shifts the focus from I to others, allowing me to
appreciate and remember how blessed I am. Many view me as having a lack of self
worth because some view it as though I am trying to please others in order to make
myself feel better, however, I view it as stated in Colossians 3:23, Work willingly
at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for
people. In everything I do, I view it as I am doing it for God rather than for that
individual because I am grateful that I am able to have the energy and strength to
help others out. Generosity is another belief of mine in which it becomes embodied
in the way I live because I m blessed having to grow up without lacking anything.
Whenever I wanted something, I could head over to the store and purchase that item
without having to worry about money being an issue. As I grew up, I noticed that
not everyone has that kind of luxury in their life, I ve known many people in my

Lucia di Lammermoor Mad scene
Lucia di Lammermoor, written in 1835, is an opera by Gaetano Donizetti (1797
1848) based on the novel The Bride of Lammermoor by Sir Walter Scott. The opera
is often called a masterpiece and has, thus far, stood the test of time. It was not
only popular in its day, but remains popular repertory today and performed by
companies around the world every year. The Mad Scene has been remarked as a
reason to go to the opera. The scene uses motives from earlier in the opera that show
a mind going insane, in addition to utilizing elaborate coloratura and vocal
flourishes. This opera is said to touch the heart the way few others can do, as a
masterpiece and heralding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scott accomplished the crucial love plight without a single word of dialogue, which
is not very reasonable for opera. Happily ignoring Scott s need to move the plot
along, Donizetti gives lovers, Lucia and Edgardo, a dreamy love duet theme, which
breathes the essence of bel canto romantic love.12 In addition, Lucia s actions in
the operatic mad scene, spur from this passage: The next evening, the physicians
said, would be the crisis of her malady. It proved so; for although she awoke from
her trance with some appearance of calmness, and suffered her nightclothes to be
changed or put in order, yet as soon as she put her hand to her neck, as if to search
for the fatal blue ribbon, a tide of recollections seemed to rush upon her, which her
mind and body alike incapable of bearing.13
It is clear that the novel is the inspiration, but has been changed a little for the bel
canto style and for entertainment. The opera is able to transform the characters into
something a little more pleasing to the audience. One writer finds that Scott s Lucy
seems inarticulate and frightening, whereas Lucia seems detached from reality but
able to express sentiments in a gracious and highly stylized way.14 Lucia di
Lammermoor was composed after Donizetti had returned to Naples form Paris for

26. Leibniz s Discourse On Metaphysics
The Best of All Possible Worlds, or How to Be Optimistic Regardless of
Circumstance In Leibniz s Discourse on Metaphysics the slightly disconcerting
claim is made that this world is the best of all possible worlds. Leibniz s optimistic
claim about the nature of reality arises out of his definition of God, and in the process
of laying his arguments many pieces of Leibniz s metaphysics can be found. Leibniz
reconciles both free willand the problem of evil with his claim about the condition of
the universealong with creating the foundations for an ethics based on intent rather
than outcome. Although Voltaire s Candide rather famously satirizes Leibniz s ideas
its objection is weak, and a stronger objection lies in Leibniz s determinism and the
possibility of random chance.
To understand Leibniz s assertion about the moral nature of our world it is first
necessary to understand his conception of God. Leibniz defines God as, an
absolutely perfect being (Leibniz 1). As a perfect being God is, of course,
omnipotent and omniscient, but he is also perfectly good and acts in, the most
perfect manner. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In explicit terms Leibniz lays out that God follows morality as opposed to God
determining morality. Thus it is conceivable that the best world that God could
make would be one that includes the possibility of random chance. The moral
implications of such a universe and the arguments for why random chance would be
desirable are beyond the scope of this paper, however it is sufficient here to say that
the idea of random chance poses a credible threat to Leibniz s metaphysical optimism,
though the debate over the truth may rage through to the establishment of the
Republic of Minds, if such a state should come to

Hammurabi, King and ruler of Babylon from 1792 1750 B.c at the beginning of his
rein, Mesopotamia was divided into many city states, all with their own patterns of
shifting rules, but Hammurabi eventually brought the entire region under his
control, he collected laws from varied city states, and wrote down a set of codes,
that soon governed the entire area (King 56). Hammurabi s written code allowed lot
to be a matter of public knowledge and so help advance the rule of law in society.
Babylons great monuments make a strong impression of the biblical scribes, but
the most enduring legacy surviving to this day, is the Babylonian intervention far
more impression still, the Rule of Law (King 56). Babylon was the first
civilization on earth to have a written legal code ( King 56) . The original carb
stone is in an astonishing relic, lost for hundreds of years it will emerge in the late
19 century, a stone engraved with one of the most important legal documents of all

Babylonian king who had the stone carb with the laws, the barriers name Hammurabi

Hammurabi expanded his empire greatly before focusing his energies toward
wealth and justice for his people. He created a code protecting all classes of
Babylonian society, including women and slaves (Sasson 46). He sought protection

In an era when people didn t want to change, but a change had to happen. The
country started to turn against itself and formed two groups, against segregation or
for it. People that didn t want segregation would bomb churches and treat African
Americans with disrespect. There is still segregation in the world today. People
purposely target African Americans just because they are black. With that in mind,
is there still segregation where you live? Do you see people targeting African
Americans just because they want to beat them up? I believe that injustice anywhere
is a threat to justice everywhere, whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly

as the white people. King went to Birmingham in early 1963 to help lead a
campaign to integrate the water fountains, lunch counters, and restrooms (new). In
modern times is it normal to share water fountains and restrooms with African
Americans. However, in the 1960 s people thought it was disrespectful and a
disgrace to even be in the vicinity with African Americans. King was a reformer, he
spoke with such dignity and power. In a segregated world he saw that everyone was
connected, even if people couldn t see it yet. In Birmingham the police force was

emotional state in the film? Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin

distress due to the massacre caused by her psychopathic son. Ramsay uses various
film techniques to portray the perspective and emotional state of Eva in the film.
Through colour, sound and music he expresses her feelings clearly to the
audience. Colour was widely explored by Ramsay to depict the extensive array of
feelings of Eva. Two prominent colours were red and yellow. Red is used as the
dominant colour to depict Eva s inability to escape from the guilt and blood caused

He implements music in contrast to the mood of Eva to express to the audience
her emotional state. A wide array of blues music were often utilised to contrast Eva
s mood. Ham N Eggs by Lonnie Donegan was used when Eva was driving to the jail
from work. Her mood highly contrasts with the uplifting tone of the music as she
has just visited her son in jail. Music was also used to give hints as to the actions
of Eva. As Eva was frantically searching Kevin s room, the song In My Room by
The Beach Boys began playing. The blues song contained lyrics such as, There s a
world where I can go and tell my secrets to In my room, in my room. In this world I
lock out all my worries and my fears. The lyrics show that Eva was searching for
any clues to help her discern the actions and attitude of Kevin. She found nothing
to help her determine Kevin s attitude which was ironic to lyrics. Another example
of ironic use of music was during Eva s work Christmas party where Colin asks her
to dance. Eva shyly rejects the dance and Colin whispers an insult to her. The
cheerful song Last Christmas by Wham! is gradually increased in volume to rival
Eva s hurt feelings. Ramsay s recurring use of music in aims of ironically contrasting
Eva s melancholic state, is clearly expressed to the

18th of April 1957. She was the fourth child of Clark and Irene Wiley and was one of
two children that survived childhood. Her parents were married in 1944 Clark was
20 years his wife s senior and their marriage was riddled with domestic violence.
Their first two children were both suspiciously killed before their first birthday. It
was reported that Clark Wiley extremely disliked children and was very mentally
unstable. The third of the Wiley children John lived with Clarks mother Pearl, when
she was killed in a hit and run accident Clark held his son responsible which only
added to his fragile mental health.
The final child of the couple was Genie. At a doctor s appointment in late 1958
when Genie was 20 months old the doctor diagnosed her with mild retardation.
However, this claim has been debated. Nevertheless, Genie s sadistic father kept
her in extreme isolation locked away in an upstairs bedroom. The window was
covered in aluminium foil and Genie was tightly restrained to a potty chair in near
darkness every day. At night she slept in a tattered sleeping bag tied down in a cot
that was enclosed with chicken wire. Although she would often be left on the potty
chair overnight. She was malnourished and Clark forbid his son and wife to speak
to Genie. If she was to make any sound she was beaten with a wooden plank, and
was allegedly sexually abused also. Though no one will ever know exactly what

What qualities really define a true friend? Many friends come and go from our life,
but our true friends are the ones that we trust with our deepest and darkest secrets,
support us in our happy and sad times, and are some of the kindest people in our
lives. With that said, our best friends are also the ones that provide us with the
truth, no matter the consequence of feelings. Personal experiences have
demonstrated to me, that each true friend within my life, all provided me with a
sense of self fulfillment, and knowing they are a true friend. My friend, Christina,
demonstrates the quality of kindness. She and I have been friends ever since
middle school, and have been through a lot together that many others would never
understand. When i met Christina, she did not know I was going through a rough
time in my life. I got to really know and become close to her due to having multiple
classes together. As we became closer, she started to see the underlying problems
that I was enduring. She was a kind soul who helped me through a rough part in my
life; I m thankful I met her. After having her friendshiphelp me during my hardship, I
came to find out that she was having trouble in her life too. She told me that I was
the only one she felt comfortable talking to about her problems. When this happened,
I laughed inside thinking about all the crap I put her through with my problems,
however this was my chance to return the favor to friend that helped me. Her act of

36. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gold And Platinum
Claire Kaneshiro Homeroom 9B October 10th, 2017 The Benefits and
Disadvantages Use of Gold and Platinum Alloys to Replace Nickel Containing
Alloys in Jewelry Nickel is a common metal used to produce alloys for jewelry, yet
nickel allergy is prevalent, affecting approximately 30% of the population
(Rothenberg). For those with the allergy, nickel causes an immunological
hypersensitivity response on the area of contact, resulting in symptoms of dermatitis.
Although, nickel is not a classic allergen, as it doesn t cause the body to produce
excess antibodies (IgE) that prompt cellular production of chemicals inducing the
reaction. Instead, studies show that nickel itself can act as a stimulator of the cells,
activating the expression of dendritic (immune system signaling cells in the skin) and
endothelial cells (blood vessel walls). Nickel is an inorganic activator of the receptors
in these cells and has been shown to bridge connection between receptors. That, when
activated, release intracellular signals prompting the production of inflammatory
cytokines (signaling molecules) activating immune responses (Rothenberg). The
body reacts to the produced chemicals with inflammation, redness, and swelling.
Nickel is most common among the heavy metals for eliciting this reaction, therefore,
alternative hypoallergenic metals exist which retain the properties necessary to
replace nickel. For jewelry, gold has historically been favored for its malleability and
other properties

Activities
2.3A case for change Therefore, this business needs to improve their performance
management activities because, in dealing with the consequences of resistance to
change, the business lost its competitive advantage. There was high employee
turnover in the production team, resulting in reduced time to train staff, so product
measurements for the factory to manufacture goods often went out incorrect. This
contributed to higher levels of stress for the workers, in turn creating more errors.
There were delays in delivery, a reputation of bad workmanship was beginning to
form and there were reduced margins from doing a job more than once. The issues
felt in the production team were not only limited to that department, they affected
the rest of the other departments. This also created hostility between older
employees and the newer ones, because the older employees felt threaten by the
newcomers as they were viewed as more willing to do as asked. The business could
not survive this way and had to find ways of moving away from this battles of the

41. The Causes Of Procrastination
Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task that needs to be accomplished. It is
a common issue most Americans face today. Procrastination can be argued whether
or not if it s caused by choice. There are various factors that lead to procrastination
such as; our being brain programmed to procrastinate, feeling like you aren t in the
right frame of mind to do a particular task, and the lack of self confidence.
Procrastination doesn t happen just because, it is a result of our brain being
programmed to do so. Typically, we procrastinate because we visualize the hardest
part of something that needs to be done. It could be a range of doing a project,
assignment, or even cleaning your house. According to Ciotti (2012): our brain has the

also states, It s a human reaction to avoid doing stuff we don t want to do to avoid
potentially difficult situations, it s all about our confidence and a fear that it won t
go well and we won t be good enough. This is something most can relate to because
we visualize something going wrong so we won t do it. Another thing that can be
involved is perfectionism, we may not want to attempt something unless we feel sure
that we will be great at it. It becomes a vicious cycle, the more we procrastinate the
more distressed we are and undermine our own confidence. Procrastination also
happens because we may have a low self confidence. When difficulties arise, people
with weak self confidence easily develop doubts about their ability to accomplish
the task at hand, while those with strong beliefs are more likely to continue their
efforts. (Heshmat, 2016). Whenever this happens, people miss opportunities to
acquire new knowledge and skills. An example of this would be someone with a

section that people could be easily understood and noticed in their daily life.
Furthermore, the research will be tended to focus on researching new kind of

Educational vouchers can be very beneficial for both the student and even the school

Many people believe that there are many advantages to publicly funded vouchers. One

background is. Greater competition is another one of the program s advantages. As
families gain the ability to choose the school their child attends, schools may have to
improve to attract students. This would be very beneficial to the students in question.
Another advantage is targeted assistance. School vouchers can be aimed at a
particular struggling student population and offer assistance without changing the
entire public education system. This is very beneficial to the child because his
individual needs are attended to without reshaping the

Kiyomori, and enjoyed the product of the influence for a while. These actions led to
the rise of the Genji from their defeat by instigating the demise of their rivals.
However, the Genji operated the same way as the Heike to attain their rise. They
oppressed their rivals, exerted undue influenced, killed and sent their enemies in exile,

EasyCar s approach, built on the easyJet model, was quite different than the
approaches used by the traditional rental car companies. EasyCar rented only a single
vehicle type at each location it operated, while most of its competitors rented a
wide variety of vehicle types. EasyCar did not work with agents over 95% of its
bookings were made through the company s website, with the remainder of
bookings being made directly through the company s phone reservation system (at
a cost to the customer of 0.95 [euro]/minute for the call). Most rental car companies
worked with a variety of intermediaries, with their own websites accounting for less
than 10% of their total booking (Click to fly, 2004). And like easyJet, easyCar
managed prices in an attempt to have its fleet rented out 100% of the time and to
generate the maximum revenue from its rentals. EasyCar s information system
constantly evaluated projected demand and expected utilization at each site, and
adjusted price accordingly. Because of its aggressive pricing, easyCar was able to
achieve a fleet utilization rate in excess of 90% (Simpkins, 2002) much higher than
other major rental car companies. Industry leader Avis Europe, for example, had a
fleet utilization rate of 68% (Avis Europe plc, 2002).
It was January, 2003. EasyCar had broken even in the fiscal year ending September
2002 (Simpkins, 2002) on revenues of 27 million [pounds sterling] (Marketing, 2003).

49. How Did Charlie Parker Contribute To Music
Music paper
Katharina Tophoven
When the music changes, so does the dance African Prover. Many of the world s
greatest musicians have made tremendous impacts on the music today, Charlie Parker
being one of them. Charlie Parker was a phenomenal Jazz musician who made a huge
impact on jazz music as it advanced throughout the ages.
Just as any other musician, they had to start somewhere in order to become the
prodigious artist. Charlie Parker was born in Kansas City, Kansas on August 29,
1920. His father, was an African American stage performer (Charles Parker), and
his mother (Addie Parker) was a maid charwoman with a Native American heritage.
At the age of 7 he hand his parents, being an only child, moved to Kansas City,
Missouri. He discovered his talent while taking music lessons at public schools.
During his teen years he played the baritone horn in the school band, although by
the age of 15, the alto saxophone was the instrument he preferred. He then began to
play with bands at the local clubs, while still in school. Parker loved playing so
much that by 1935, he decided to drop school and pursuit his dream as a full time
musician. Charlie Parker had a deep and heightened relationship with music: Music
is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don t live it, it won t
come out of your horn. ( ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the time between 1947 and 1951, Charlie Parker was performing solos at
many different venues, which included clubs and radio stations. He also signed
many different record labels. Later he made his European debut at the Paris
International Jazz Festival in 1949. During this time, in New York, the Birdland club
was being named in his honor, although Parker made his last stage performance at
Birdland, almost a week before his death. He had battled through his adult life with
alcoholism and heroin
50. Belonging
The concept of belonging is essential. To belong is to form a connection which will
allow a sense of identity, without this we lose our humanity; however, conformity is
in a sense a facade of belonging, as it restrains our freedom and forces us to only
mimic. My studied texts show how society demands us to conform, yet conformity
prevents a sense of true identity being ever created.
This notion is elaborated in the novel, A Clockwork Orange. Alex is a criminal who
doesn t belong anywhere within society. In the novel, the government attempts to
suppress his criminality by physically preventing him from thinking of violence thus
making him conform to their standards. This is a prime example of how society
attempts to make us conform to what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie shows the disastrous effect conformity and fear have among members
who gain their place inside the group at the price of conformity. Shirley Hastings,
for example, lives a life half lived cowering before what Barry Fife will say or
think. She has let the Federation so dominate her that she has no respect for Doug
and can only see her son Scott in terms of winning competitions.
The movie represents belonging using a variety of techniques to distinguish
between the world of artifice and the more realistic world. The image of the
artificial world, shown as the ballroom world, is glitzy and colourful. Luhrmann has
presented this world as having power, whereas the character of Fran, shown in plain
clothes and reading glasses, is initially shown as powerless, because she does not
conform to the ballroom world.
The movie traces the shift from a world of false belonging dominated by
conformity, fear and the cynical manipulations of the ultra sleaze Barry Fife,
towards the iconic last scene where the line between spectators and professional
dancers blurs and is dissolved as Scott dressed in Spanish costume and Fran in
Spanish style red dress put passion back into dance, rescuing it from the deadening
effect of the old brigade.
Taking the similes of the two texts we can arrive at the conclusion that conformity
allows us to become part of a functioning society but can in turn stifle individuality,
expression and self identity.

51. Harvey Weinstein s Influence On Women In Hollywood
Sexual harassment is something of a hot topic today. The conversation has been
ongoing for some time, but it seems to have been launched into the stratosphere of
public consciousness by a string of high profile accusations. The most infamous were
accusations levelled against movie and television producer Harvey Weinstein.
Weinstein was accused of harassment and more, allegedly preying upon young up and
coming actresses in Hollywood. Weinstein s influence and reach in Hollywood is
extensive, which meant he could either be friend or foe for young actresses breaking
into the entertainment industry. He used this position to commit crimes against
many women, allegedly including Uma Thurman and Angelina Jolie.
Many of the men who worked with Weinstein suggested they too were guilty, to an
extent, because they had seen this behaviour and not ... Show more content on

The New York Police Department investigated Weinstein in connection to sexual
crimes and suggested it had evidence enough to charge and convict him.
The seriousness with which these accusations were treated gave more people who
had been abused by powerful men the courage to come forward. Dubbed the
Weinstein Effect, a rolling wave of accusations broke over the entertainment world.
No Stone Left Unturned
The accusations didn t occur only in the entertainment world, however. Virtually no
industry has been left untouched by the Weinstein Effect. In sports, the recent
sentencing of USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar is part of the ripple effect of the
Weinstein Effect.
Politics too has been rocked by accusations. Here in Canada, Ontario PC Party
leader Patrick Brown had to resign in the midst of accusations. At the federal level,
Kent Hehr was forced to resign his cabinet post. Prime Minister Trudeau has said
sexual harassment is a systemic problem that must be addressed.

French Baroque 1600 1750
Europe in the 1600s was at the end of Counter Reformation, and as the political and
cultural shifts took place, we begin to see art, particularly in France, influenced more
and more, by the ruling monarchy. The transition from Mannerism into Baroque is
not clear, but eventually the arts started to adopt a new look. And feel. Paintings
started to become more exuberant, dynamic and ornamented. The scale of work
produced during this time increased dramatically. Where Mannerism marked a
departure from classical and realistic norms, Baroque becomes a return to these
norms, but with an emotional undertow and visual tension. However, through the
Baroque pursuit of eloquence, it abandoned the precious and contorted ... Show more

The light is always obscured by another element in the painting, which gives it a more
dramatic, more human feel, with greater depth. The emotional effect of this is very
intimate and human. The duplicitous nature of shadow and light in a La Tour
painting could be seen as a metaphor for the good and bad contained within human
nature. It is also vague enough to be open to multiple interpretations. In any
interpretation this duality is almost given more importance than the subject matter.
The personality of Nicolas Poussin was contrary to La Tour, though both were very
rational and humanistic. Poussin sought to enter into the person of his subject, to
become immersed in psychological analysis. He combines his love of virtue and
his love of landscape by placing tragic figures in richly interesting and complexly
constructed, heroic landscapes. He produced some of the most demanding, yet
satisfying landscape paintings in western culture. He believed passionately that the
disposition of the painting as a whole could be constructed to covey a mood or
emotion. He also had a unique combination of pagan and Christian themes, often
giving a poetic treatment to subjects from classic mythology and ancient history.
Poussin was a classicist for whom the aesthetic values of antiquity represented not
only a formal ideal, but also a moral standard, a way conceiving a form that cannot
be separated from the good and true.

Wyoming s economy includes four main aspects: agriculture, manufacturing, mining,
and service. Among them, agriculture takes an important place in Wyoming s
economy. It contributes numerous billions to economy every year. There is a general
evaluation of Wyoming s agriculture from a website. Historically, agriculturehas been
an important component of Wyomings economic identity. Its overall importance to
the performance of Wyoming s economyhas waned. However, it is still an essential
part of Wyoming s culture and lifestyle. (www. Wyoming.gov/narrative.aspx) It
shows the importance in Wyoming s culture and lifestyle. What it does not mention
are the economic impacts. They cannot be ignored, either.
This information illustrates the status quo of Wyoming s agriculture. Historically,
agriculture has been important to Wyoming s cultural identity and the quality of life
of its citizens... There currently 9,200 agricultural producers operating in Wyoming.
Overall Wyoming agricultural production in 2001 amounted to $1.057 billion and of
that sum; gross value added to the economy was $471.2 million. (Bittner, 2)
Agriculture contributes $800 million annually to Wyoming s economy,
approximately 80% of which is cattle production. (www.ourchildrenstrust.org/page

occupies an important position in Wyoming s economy. It increases economic growth
and gross domestic product.

Why Britain Won the Battle of Britain
After taking France in addition to his list of captured countries on mainland Europe,
Adolf Hitler set his sights on Britain. After the success of Blitzkrieg, the evacuation
of Dunkirk and the surrender of France, Britain was by herself. However, before
Hitler could contemplate undertaking an invasion he was advised by his generals that
Germany had to destroy the Fighter Command of the Royal Air Force in order to gain
superiority in the air. This would in turn enable him to gain control of the English
Channel in order to transfer the 160,000 German troops on the 2000 invasion barges,

For example, under the category of technology I could say that one reason why
Britain won the battle of Britain was because they had the services of the radar
system.
Firstly, the tactics employed by both sides would play a key role in itself to deciding
the outcome of the Battle of Britain. The battle started on July 10th 1940 when the
Luftwaffe attempted to gain control of the Straits of Dover. The tactics employed
by the Luftwaffe was to tempt the RAF out for a full scale battle. However, by the
end of July, the RAF had lost 150 aircraft while the Luftwaffe had lost 268. These
figures illustrate that there was a much greater loss of aircraft experienced by
Germany than the British. These large losses of planes from the outset of a battle
would have been a significant blow to any army however, this would have damaged
German morale as a greater loss of planes was not something they would have
contemplated and as they were coming into this battle with such high expectations,
this would have been a significant blow to the Luftwaffe and a stern wake up call to
their commanders. However, Britain too was suffering, it was the loss of trained
pilots that was crippling the RAF, and the real battle had yet to begin. In August, the
Luftwaffe changed their tactics and started to attack Fighter Command s airfields,
operation rooms and radar stations the idea being that the RAF

Introduction The primary focus of this paper is in regards to language disorders in
children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. ASD is a developmental disorder,
according to the DSM 5 diagnostic criteria, that is characterized by persistent deficits
in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts, as well as
restricted or repetitive patterns of behaviors, interests, or activities. This disorder is

Assessment Language assessment is necessary for Autism Spectrum Disorder in
order to identify the areas of language that the client is struggling with, so that the
most beneficial treatment plan for their needs can be determined. Also, assessment is
important because early language skills in this population are key predictors of
future language outcomes. It s imperative to consider investigating the early stages of
language and communicative development in very young children with ASD for this
reason. In regards to measuring early language skills in clients with Autism,
generally this is done by both standardized tests and parent reports such as
questionnaires or interviews. Both approaches offer valuable information about a
child s linguistic skills and provide important information to predict later language
outcomes. Various types of standardized tests and parent reports can be used to
assess a child s receptive and or expressive language skills. For this reason, it s
important to understand the various options, and the impact on the results these types
of tests may have. Rhiannon J. Luyster and her colleagues (2008) examined various
assessment procedures and their influences on the outcome of the assessment. One
assessment included the Mullen Scales of Early Learning which is a test used to
assess the developmental functioning of
58. Abortion Is Wrong Essay
Is Abortion Wrong?
One of the most cherished beliefs of conservatives is that morals are absolute. If an
act such as abortion is wrong, they believe, it is wrong for all time; there are no
exceptions. Usually, this absolutism arises from the belief that the law of God cannot
be broken under any circumstances.
Yet, not even the Bible considers an act to be wrong in and of itself the scriptures are
loaded with exceptions and qualifications to the law. To those who believe that the
only exceptions to the law should be those that the Judeo Christian God gives us, then
there are three places to find those exceptions: the Old Testament, the New Testament,
and the writings of Christian leaders in the 2,000 years since. ... Show more content

Conservatives may object that the power actually belongs to God, and the church
leadership is simply transmitting the information. But history clearly refutes this idea.
African slavery in America received the full blessing of four centuries of popes.
Considering the social and scientific disasters that the Church hierarchy (of all
denominations) have been guilty of promoting, from the burning of witches to the
enslavement of innocents, no thinking person could ever place blind faith in the
fallible leadership of men.
That s just a practical observation; let s turn to a more theoretical treatment of moral
absolutism. The problem with this theory is that not even the Bible considers an
act to be wrong in and of itself. God gave Israel the Ten Commandments forbidding
certain acts, but then he also ordered Israel to carry out those very acts against her
enemies. This sort of moral relativism is apparent in Christian history as well.
Slavery and war were not condemned as evil in and of themselves; Christian
scholars and popes wrote entire libraries on what constituted just and unjust slavery
and just and unjust war. They drew all the exceptions permissible under God for
these atrocities, which they viewed as correct in certain circumstances. They also did
this with more positive behaviors, such as the only correct occasions to have sex,
which the Church
