The Importance Of International Terrorism
The growing scope and complexity of international terrorism, particularly the threat to diplomats and
diplomatic facilities, has caused widespread concern among members of the international community
and prompted a lively debate on the measures appropriate for their protection. Consideration of this
matter, however, has been greatly complicated not only by differing interpretations of the nature of
terrorism but by the involvement of states themselves in terrorist activities.
Once again, this problem is not new but since the 1960s, when terrorism emerged as a coherent
doctrine of revolutionary warfare and a myriad groups sprang up around the world to capitalise on the
increased vulnerability of modern society, the involvement of government s in terrorism has been
given considerable attention. The debate over this matter has been heightened by the open admission
of some states that they were prepared to sponsor terrorist groups as a means of extending their
foreign policy options and by the Reagan Administration s insistence that terrorism has become a
global issue with the potential to destroy diplomacy, undermine world stability and threaten
civilisation itself .1
Despite the fact that the diplomatic laws have been in practice since the beginning of early
civilizations, states have often acted in a manner contrary to VCDR principles and laws. There have
been earlier incidents of the violation of inviolability of diplomatic privileges by the receiving state
but most of them

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Ich Bin-Bin Ein Berliner
In 1963, the government of East Germany erected the Berlin Wall to stop emigration from East
Germany into West Germany. In response to the wall s erection, JFK delivered a speech in West
Berlin, right next to the wall. In his famous Ich bin ein Berliner speech, JFK effectively employs
various rhetorical strategies in order to motivate the people of West Berlin and the world to take a
stand against the evils of communism, with the wall being a manifestation of this evil. He utilizes
juxtaposition, anaphora, and parallel structure to further his purpose. In doing so, he also effectively
sends a message to the USSR that the Western world will not let democracy perish anywhere, and will
stand up for all free peoples in the world. In his speech, Kennedy uses the rhetorical device of parallel
structure to emphasize the strength and positive attributes of West Germany and their democratic
political system. Towards the beginning of his speech, Kennedy states, Two thousand years ago, the
proudest boast was civis Romanus sum . The phrase civis Romanus sum is latin for I am a Roman
citizen , and was used as a rallying cry for the legal rights of Roman citizens. Rome was seen as the
pinnacle of power, but also the pinnacle of legal rights for the citizens of its republic. In literature
especially, the Roman political and legal ideals are regarded in very positive terms, and a comparison
evokes ideas of republicanism, justice, fraternity, and equality. In the next sentence,

The Influence of Roman Engineering and Architecture
The ingeniousness and beauty of Roman architecture has not been lost on us in the 2000 years since it
was built. Even today, we still marvel at what incredible builders the Romans were, and at the sheer
scale and integrity of many of their projects. It is hard to argue that today s architecture will maintain
the same lasting grandeur as that which the Romans built. If we can still respect and admire the
grandeur of Rome as it was in it s day, one can only imagine how much of an influence people of the
time felt, due to the incredible innovations that the Romans brought to the new regions of their empire.
In fact, it is because of the superior engineering skills and architectural ideas possessed by the
Romans, and respected by others, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This water was then used for the public baths and toilets, besides the expected drinking water. The fact
that this water was for the public, and not reserved for private use, pleased people in the new colonies
even more, and made them even more accepting of Roman control. The actual aqueducts themselves,
built by the Romans to carry the water, were perhaps even more influential. Aqueducts like Pont du
Gard at Nimes (Images 3 and 4), or Segovia in Spain (Image 5), the latter of which still carries water
today, were monumental landmarks in the colonies where they were built and still are today. That the
Romans would build such magnificent and monumental structures for the sole purpose of supplying
water to its colonies was likely overwhelming to those benefiting from it. So the Romans supplied the
towns with water, and made travel between towns easier. But what about improving life within the
town itself? It is in the public buildings such as the bath, the forum and the amphitheater, which
people used and experienced daily, where Rome was able to exert its greatest influence. The fact that
these buildings were open to all and not reserved for an elitist group of society only increased their
significance. It is arguable that the grandness of the baths has yet to be surpassed in any public
building since. These were huge, lavishly ornamented structures where citizens would go not only to
bathe, but also

The Girl And The Company Of The Wolves
Throughout history and to this day women haven t been able to have complete power over their
bodies. The media show how women are being raped and abused by men and not getting the justice
they deserve for what has happened to them, but instead the women have to carry on living their lives
in shame and some of these women don t even survive or commit suicide after they have been raped,
not being able to handle their traumatic experience. However, as time has passed some of these
women have begun to take control of these situations and of their bodies even if they have gone

The Tale of Little Red Riding Hood is a short fiction story, which is a modern version of the classic
short story with a sexual intake. In this story we see how the town wolves are considered sexual
predators who need to be satisfied with sex, yet they kill the people they have sex with, because the
women usually do not want to accept their sexual desires. However, when Little Red Riding Hood is
faced with the wolf, she doesn t allow him to take control over her and do as he pleases, but instead
laughs in his face when he mentions of eating her and takes control of the situation, her body by
accepting her sexual desires and tames the wolf unlike the other women throughout the story. What

Biography Of Chuck, An African American Male
Chuck, an African American male, was brought to my funeral home after an autopsy had been
completed on him. Chuck passed away in a car accident after his car crossed the centerline, was hit by
another car and then upon impact burned. Amazingly, Chuck got out of the car but later died on the
side of the road before help had arrived. Chuck s ability to get out the car and dying on the side of the
road led to this being an autopsy case. While preparing Chuck for his services, I noticed that he has
light discolorations on his hands and face due to his car catching on fire. This goes to show that he
suffered first degree burns. First degree burns or hyperemia is any injury caused by heat, which
produces redness of the skin. This type of burn does not present any unusual difficulty when
embalming or preparing the body. Although it is discolored, we have to be thankful that the skin will
just be red, unbroken and has no tissue destruction. For the discoloration, I used a stronger than
normal arterial injection solution as a precaution against skin slip, applied massage cream during the
embalming process and used cosmetics after embalming to help reduce the visibility of the burns on
his hands and face. The fact that Chuck has a ruptured aorta causes some difficulties and will affect
the embalming process, however embalming can still take place. A ruptured aorta will cause the
embalming fluid to fill the cavity rather than going through the arterial system. If one

Self Forgiveness

Summary
Since 1985 there has been a tremendous increase in research regarding intrapersonal forgiveness, but
very little regarding self forgiveness. The purpose of this article was to bring attention to the topic of
self forgiveness within this growing body of research. The definitions of self forgiveness from many
disciplines were reviewed along with what features of self forgiveness differ from those of
intrapersonal forgiveness emphasizing the need for an increase in empirical research on the subject
matter.
There are many unanswered questions regarding self forgiveness. It is questioned if the true self
forgiveness yields the same result as pseudo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The simple act of defining self forgiveness in a way that is applicable across disciplines provides
counselor and researchers a better starting point when approaching the topic of self forgiveness.
One concept I found very interesting was the distinction between true self forgiveness and pseudo self
forgiveness. It is intuitive for me to believe that it is not possible for pseudo self forgiveness to have
the same effect as true self forgiveness, but with out research on the matter how can one be sure.
When I read that the test for self forgiveness cannot differentiate between the two, it made me wonder
if it is difficult for a person or a counselor to know the difference. It also made me wonder if it is
possible that simply believing that things are better can actually make someone feel better.
I also found the question regarding the appropriateness of self forgiveness to be interesting. When a
person believes something is their fault that is not, what approach should a counselor take? Is it more
appropriate to spend the time and effort on developing the skills to know what happened was not the
client s fault, or is it more appropriate to provide the skills that will allow the person to forgive his or
herself for what they believed they caused to happen? While this would have to be considered on a
case by case basis, as a counselor it would be helpful to have more research on the topic that results in
guidance on how to approach these types of

Comparing Cassatt s Woman And Child Before A Washstand And...
Soltes (2011) discusses Cassatt s, Woman and Child before a Washstand and Bowl (1889) and
describes the tones of a delicate palate characteristic of Impressionist painting. He notes her
brushwork is tighter than typical Impressionism and is similar to that of Degas, assuming their close
relationship affected her artistic style as a painter. Her subject matter echoes the continuity of the
Madonna and Christ child yet in a modern humanized version of an actual mother and child. Soltes
(2011) regards Cassatt as: an important link between America and Europe because she is a
consummate painter in the Impressionist mode of her own particularized style; but because she was
well off enough to purchase Impressionist works and bring them back to the United States, which
helped further tighten the link between American appreciation of Impressionism and the
Impressionism being produced in France and in Europe in general (L35, 22:28). Finally, John Singer
Sargent (1856 1925) was another American artist with a strong influence of French Impressionism
from spending time in Paris. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He s offered us a completely abstract image which offers layers of large blocks of color that affect
each other with regard to pushing and pulling, into and out from, the picture plane. It contrasts those
ordered rectilinear blocks with a series of chaotic splotches that seem to shrink down in decreasing
size, all the way down to passages that are almost pointillist in feel. So we get from this visual context,
a kind of sense of landscape, which is reinforced by the fact that the dominating color along the lower
part is a kind of tawny sand like color; and the dominating light blue above it, suggests the shore of
the sands and the sky, and then all of that green dominated material in between could be taken to be
vegetation that is growing on the edge of the sea, into the sky. (L40,

DBQ Mongols Barbaric Dbq
The Mongols were a fearless and powerful group that dominated Asia and Eastern Europe during the
13th century. They did this through their battle tactics. The Mongols often fought on horseback and
surrounded their enemies, which was an extremely efficient way to conquer. Their battle tactics
portrayed them as barbaric and scary, enabling them to surround and conquer lands. Throughout the
13th century, the Mongols portrayed a barbaric image to the rest of the world due to their battle
tactics, severe punishments, and their ability to conquer great amount of land.
The first thing that the Mongols did that made them barbaric were their battle tactics, which included
throwing Greek inextinguishable fire, fighting one Mongol to three opposing soldiers, ... Show more

The first example is from The Mongol Empire Map (1260 1300). The chart shows that Genghis Khan
had conquered (4,860,000 sq. miles) double what Alexander the great conquered (2,180,000). Genghis
Khan also conquered almost quadruple what Adolf Hitler conquered (1,370,000) (Doc 1). This shows
Genghis Khan s widespread conquest of lands all over Asia and eastern Europe. The fact that Genghis
Khan to this day has conquered the most land all over Asia and some of eastern Europe shows how
scary and barbaric the Mongols must have looked. The second and final examples are on the Mongols
attacks on China. From the source, Mongol Background Essay, they stated that during the first wave in
Asia it was said that, Genghis Khan launched an army of 200,000 men across the Gobi
Desert...Numerous Chinese cities fell, including the capitol where Mongol slaughter was so great the
streets were said to be greasy with human fat and flesh (DBQ 2010). Genghis Khan s army was so
powerful that they successfully conquered China, one of the strongest empires, so much so that they
covered China s capitol s streets with human blood and fat. This is yet another example of barbarity.
The final example of their barbaric acts is from Robert Marshall s Storm from the East. He stated that
a census taken from the Chin Empire in 1195 showed a population of around 50 million, but after the
Mongols dominated in 1235 the count of people was less than 9 million (Doc 15). This shows how
barbaric the Mongols were through killing over 40 million people. Through Genghis Khan s conquest
of the most land ever, and through the Mongols brutal conquest of China, this portrays how barbaric

Should You Hire an Experienced Hacker to Protect Your It...

individuals gain access to your vital data. I say who better to safeguard this information than someone
who knows the intricacies of what a hacker looks for when trying to infiltrate a network. I think you
would be making a mistake not to at least look in to hiring a hacker to help your organization.
Fist things fist lets look at what makes a hacker a hacker. Here are some of the various types of
hackers:

Worm: Like a virus, a worm is also a self replicating program. The difference between a virus and a
worm is that a worm does not create multiple copies of itself on one system: it propagates through
computer networks. After the comparison between computer viruses and biological viruses, the
obvious comparison here is to a bacterium. Many people conflate the terms virus and worm , using
them both to describe any self propagating program. It is possible for a program to have the blunt
characteristics of both a worm and a virus. Most people when they here the term hacker automatically
think of a person of questionable morals and intentions. This is not always necessarily thecase. If you
do your homework and find a reputable white hat to add to your security team you would be moving
your company toward stability in securing your systems. Although when dealing with hackers you
always run the risk of infilitration; maybe you end up letting the individual go or they become
unhappy for whatevever reason, but I think the rewards far outweigh the risks. Get yourself a white
hat at the earliest opportunity.

The emerging concept of mobile edge clouds equips cellular network entities (such as basestations)
with servers, so that users can run cloud services with significantly lower latency
[2]. The introduction of femtocells allows users to buy their own cellular network devices based on
their needs, thereby reducing the operators expenditure and improving the network coverage [3]. All
these trends point to the same direction.
That is, in the future, there will be more businesses operating on a single networked platform, and the
interactions between them will become increasingly complex. The tradition that does not change
however is that, due to physical limitations, the amount of resources (such as communication
bandwidth, computational capability of servers, electricity, etc.) in the system remains limited.
Therefore, there is a growing need of studying how to efficiently allocate resources to different
business entities. x Q. Song is the corresponding author.
One fast and effective method of allocating resources at market value is using auctions. The classical
sealed price double auction1 is used in [4] and [5], where bids are made privately and truthfulness can
be ensured. References [6], [7], and [8] formulated the cloud resource pricing problem as a multi unit
combinational auction problem, which consider multiple types of computational resources for sale.

In the 16th to mid 20th century, Western powers and knowledge have dominated other countries, due
to the Western superiority to the other cultures in terms of civilization. According to Said, having
knowledge is to dominate it; having authority is to deny autonomy to the Oriental country. Evidently,
the inaccurate Western cultural perception towards Eastern world has resulted in the practice of power

The Pros And Cons Of Corruption
process of corruption is ever threatening. And when virtue has been corrupted, a heroic leader must
appear who in rebuilding the political order infuses this virtue into the entire citizenry. Montesquieu
saw corruption as the dysfunctional process by which a good political order is perverted into evil one
and a monarchy into despotism. According to Rosseau political corruption is a necessary consequence
of the struggle for power. Then he argued that man had been corrupted by social and political life. It is
not the corruption of man which destroyed the political system but the political system which corrupts
and destroys man.
Corruption is a kind of behavior which deviates from the norm actually prevalent or behaved to
prevail in a given context, such as the political. It is deviant behavior associated with a particular
motivation, namely that of private gain at public expense. There have been a number of different
attempts at defining corruption. However no precise definition can be found which applies to all
forms, types and degrees of corruption, or which would be acceptable universally. According to
Oxford English Dictionary (OED) the term corruption in political context is defined as Perversion or
favor, the use or existence of corrupt practices, especially in a state, public corruption. According to
the vast knowledge of corruption, it can be gladly said that corruption can be defined as the use of

Anabolic Steroids And Substance Steroids
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary anabolic steroids are any of a group of usually synthetic
hormones that are derivatives of testosterone, are used medically specially to promote tissue growth,
and are sometimes abused by athletes to increase the size and strength of their muscles and improve
endurance. The main purpose of anabolic steroids is to gain strength and muscle very quickly and
faster than any other drug enhancement. There are many types of models that relate to anabolic
steroids. One model is high school athletes who use anabolic steroids and would mostly fall in the
performance enhancer model category. Many may ask, what exactly are performance enhancement
drugs? Performance enhancement drugs are substances used to improve any form of activity
performance in humans. There are many experiments done on the use of anabolic steroids within high
schools. According to the Huffington Post as of 2011, 13 percent of boys who play football in high
school take anabolic steroids and that is just football players. All of these young athletes who take

The Epic Of Gilgamesh As A Epic Hero
Throughout history mankind been searching for immortality, to live forever and not be able to fear
death ever in life. While human beings are always searching for answers and looking at their failures
has a downfall instead of a tool. A four thousand year old narrative in the Mesopotamian era about a
long ago king name Gilgamesh, a historical king that was two thirds god/divine and one third human
because of his mortality. Just like any human being growing up in today s world you go through
exceptional trials, Gilgamesh went through many obstacles which he succeeded on his own and with
the help of his dearest friend Enkidu. For all the test and trials Gilgamesh endured, it shows that he
passes them and gains knowledge from all these experiences and still becomes Uruk hero.
The Epic of Gilgamesh opens up by telling us a story with the coming of Enkidu, Gilgamesh a young
boy that terrorizes his home and has no compassion for his people, lashing out his immaturity. The
gods create an equal out of clay name Enkidu, where Gilgamesh and Enkidu travel and go through
challenges where they encounter creatures, kings and god/goddess and also provides moral to the story
of human relationships such a love and fear of the death. The trials that Gilgamesh went through were
all accomplishments in the end game, at the time they could ve been interpreted as failures but every
trail Gilgamesh accepted were all merely lessons about life and growth. Gilgamesh was a hero

They stayed in the city of Szeged, Hungary. The apartment they were living in was very large and

according to Burke and Anna. Norby would talk to Burke and Anna as much as possible. One time he
even invited them to dinner at his house. Burke and Anna gladly agreed to to have dinner with Norby

This thematic standpoint in return provides ground for a second major theme; the 1960s was home to
the birth of civil rights movements and forever changed the American idea of the status quo. To a large
extent, it is agreeable that that the 1960s serves as the era that led to activism in the US. Anderson is
able to confirm and strengthen his standpoint by the fact that it was during one of the greatest
milestones of the 1960s, the Vietnam War, that for the first time in the history of the US, the
government was subjected to criticism and attacks against their ways . This can be evidenced by the
fact that Americans, which were majority college students, took to the streets to protest government
action. At the time, the policies and actions put forth by the government were seen to be very secretive
and wrong. Citizens were hastily informed about the need to stop the spread of communism at the
expense of capitalism. Not only were government policies seen as corrupt, the government had kept
the American society in the dark concerning the actual situation in Vietnam. There seemed to be no
cost that was worth retreating from Vietnam. Draft calls were constantly increasing and the war itself
began to result in federal expenditures, deficits, and inflationary pressures ( Anderson 90). For some
Americans, the war not only damaging, but unfair. Mexican Americans were the poorest and

Relationship Between Gender Bias And Gender Essay
This study focuses on the relationship between gender bias, gender ideology, and gender roles in
everyday life. The study analyzes how differences in gender affect professors behavior in the
classroom. My research question is how do men and women view professors treatment of students
based on gender? Some basic guiding questions are: In your opinion and experience, do professors
treat certain groups of students differently? Who are these students? Specifically, do professors treat
men vs. women differently in the classroom? Why do you think professors do/don t do this? My
hypothesis was that respondents would think professors call on men in the classroom due to their
stereotypical qualities of being competitive, confident, and dominant. The overwhelming majority of
people describe women as shy, compassionate, and timid . Men are more willing to speak up and
shout out an answer in the classroom because of their confidence and dominance. Given these
stereotypical traits it would be more likely for a male to answer a question, get called on, or engage in
a conversation with the teacher rather than a women because of women s timid traits . I believe that
the majority of men are less likely to filter a response and think before they speak in class, therefore
leading them to get called on by the professor to share their opinion. From my own experience I have
seen this begin to change over the years possibly because of the increase in women in the social and
political

The End of the Republic
Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus joined forces to form a triple leadership called the First Triumvirate. The
rulers of Rome s states and colonies suspected that one man would soon emerge as the complete ruler.
Antipater, ruler of Idumea, played one ruler against the other to seek favor. Crassus invaded Jerusalem
and stole the temple treasure while war broke out between Pompey and Caesar. Antipater sided with
Pompey until Pompey was defeated, and then switched his loyalty to Caesar. Caesar abolished the five
districts and named Antipater procurator of all. Caesar became governor of the southern strip of Gaul,
which Rome had annexed some sixty years earlier. He defeated the Celtic Gauls, conquering a huge

After new victories over former troops of Pompey in Asia Minor, North Africa, and Spain, he returned
to Rome in triumph. Less than a year later, on the Ides of March, he lay stabbed to death on the floor
of the Senate at the foot of Pompey s statue, the victim of sixty senators who thought of themselves as
heroic tyrannicides. Caesar s friend, Anthony, defeated Caesar s enemies in northern Greece. He then
named Antipater s sons, Herod and Phasael, as tetrarchs (rulers of fourths) of Galilee. (Packer) When
the Parthians invaded Syria and Palestine to aid a Hasmonean attempt to regain power, Herod fled to
his fortress at Masada on the western shore of the Dead Sea. His older brother, Phasael, was captured
and committed suicide. Herod traveled to Rome, where the Roman Senate named him king of Judea.
Anthony and his troops finally overpowered the Parthians and their Seleucid allies, and Anthony
settled in Jerusalem. The strain of imperial expansion was so great that Rome took in no new
territories for least fifty years after Caesar s birth. Rome ruled most of Greece, Syria, Judea, and North
Africa. Only one Greek influenced nation remained intact. This was Egypt, ruled by Queen Cleopatra.

Evolution Of Human Evolution
Introduction
The human species has depended on a material culture for millions of years. Without it, humans would
not be able to survive. Many people believe that because we have so many technological
advancements and that humans can build or make anything necessary for their survival. Even with the
current technology and other advancements, research has proven that humans are still evolving. Much
of the evolution that is happening today has to do with the human genome and adapting to current
issues in the world. There has been much research done on the human genome and how it is still
mutating and changing. Natural selection has a big part in how the genome changes. Mutations are
another point to look at when determining if the human species is still evolving. A third point to look
at is gene flow and how that affects different populations. The purpose of this paper is to review
multiple different articles to establish whether or not the human species is currently evolving. The
articles used for this paper confirm that humans continue to evolve. While humans have the
technology and skills to make their environments suit their needs, it can clearly be seen that humans
continue to evolve and adapt.

Analysis Of Starbucks And Wal Mart Essay
Introduction
Sustainability has taken the mainstream corporate world by storm since major companies realized that
sustainability is directly linked to the viability of their long term objectives. As sustainability is proven
to be a motor of efficiency and innovation, stakeholders, investors, employees, and customers are
demanding companies to focus not only on profits but also that those profits should not come at the
expense of people or the planet. Wal Mart and Starbucks have been early adopters of the sustainability
crusade and due to their contrasting approaches towards business have developed two very distinct
sustainability models. This paper will analyze the sustainability systems implemented by Starbucks
and Wal Mart, compare their strategies, elucidate how these organizations have created different
corporate social responsibility systems, and finally determine which one of these approaches would
better support a long term sustainability model.
Analysis
Starbucks and Wal Mart are leaders in their respective industries. Their business models are different
and these differences are in part responsible for their contrasting approaches towards sustainability.
One of the best methods to understand the divergent approaches to sustainability and the triple bottom
line adopted by Starbucks and Wal Mart is by analyzing and comparing the differences in their
mission statements, values, core competencies, and corporate social responsibility systems.

Emotions In The Novel The Mark Of The Dragonfly
In the novel The Mark of the Dragonfly, the main character Piper had many different emotions
throughout the book. Sometimes Piper has more positive and joyful emotions, while on the other hand
she might have negative and not so jolly emotions. Piper s emotions change over the course of the
novel and are different from the beginning of the novel towards the ending of the novel. In page 24 in
the book it states, A cold knot of dread settled in Piper s stomach. Isn t he with you? That sentence
would show Piper feeling fear or dread , when she realized that Micah was missing. This is giving me
the idea that the emotion that Piper is feeling, is going to change the way the author writes the book,
like when the author used a cold knot of dread. That would show, since Piper is feeling fear, the author
includes more descriptive language that in other parts of the novel. Another emotion change Piper had

change was in page 207 when it said, Let it go. Piper advised, pulling Anna toward another chair. This
would support the last emotion of standing up and not letting others bring you down, which could
possibly lead up to a theme. Both of these emotions were mostly about being brave and confident,

Acid despotism means the rain, snow, and hail; have all been made sufficiently acidic by atmospheric
pollution that will inevitably cause environmental harm. How the the atmosphere becomes polluted is
from NOx s, SOx s and CO2. These source evaporate into the atmosphere and accumulate. North

For a water system that had become far to acidic and nothing is living. A process called freshwater de
acidification will spring the the water into becoming healthy again. The process starts with add the
lime directly to the water body. However in the cases of certain lakes where the turnaround is very
quick, the lime is added to the body of water. This has disadvantages though, the main one being that
the lime can have an adverse effect on wetland species of plants The advantages, however, are that the
effects are longer lasting and metals are prevented from leaching into the lake water from the soil. The
alkalinity of the limed lake is increased, the pH increased and heavy metal concentrations decrease
back to within safe limits for fish life. The number of species of fish, animals and plankton increases
as does biomass production. The chemical equation for liming water is CaCO3(s) + H2SO4(aq) ⇨
CaSO4*2H2O + CO2(g). If your soil or forest becomes too acidic a process called liming will help.

Procrastination Is A Behavior Or An Act Of Delaying...
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
Procrastination is a behavior or an act of delaying starting or performing a task that was supposed or
anticipated to be done within a definite time limit. It is a phenomenon that has been extensively
researched upon especially in academic settings. Several studies have explored its causes, form and
effects. Findings have suggested how it is detrimental to academic achievement, long term health,
financial standing, well being, etc. (Sepehrian Lotf, 2011; Tice Baumeister, 1997; McCown Johnson
1989; Steel, 2007). Despite the unfavorable connotations attached to it, the practice of this
phenomenon has not subsided over the years.
Researches have indicated that a large number of students are involved in procrastination (Harriot
Ferrari, 1996). The number has been approximated at 95% in some studies (Ellis Knaus, 1977; Steel,
2007, Tan, Ang, Klassen, Yeo, Wong, Huan, Chong, 2008). The phenomenon is not limited to one
nation or state, actually it is widely practiced in many cultures or countries across the globe (McCown
Roberts, 1994; Solomon Rothblum, 1984; Uzun Ozer, Demir, Ferrari, 2009; Bhutto, Mohsin Niazi,
2011). The high prevalence and perplexing nature of the cause of this behavior compels one to study it
in detail and through various dimensions.
The scientific inquires have investigated procrastination through many lenses. A significant shift
towards studying the differences among the types of procrastinators was witnessed after

A Prayer For Owen Meany Analysis
How many people are willing to practice their own death? Not many, right? It sounds strange, but one
person in particular was eager to do just that Owen Meany. In John Irving s A Prayer for Owen Meany,
Owen makes many sacrifices, his biggest sacrifice being his own life. In the beginning of the novel,
Owen comes across as slightly different with his minuscule size and high pitched voice, but as the
novel progresses and Owen ages, his inhuman qualities become more and more prevalent, eventually
leading to the biggest indicator of all his death. In the novel, Owen Meany is willingly able to plan the
sacrifice of his own life in order to save the lives of others, showing he is a supernatural being. Owen
Meany was predestined to be a savior for the Vietnamese children and he had been preparing for this
sacrifice his entire life. From the time he was born, Owen was always special. His parents admitted
that he was unnatural when Mr. Meany exclaimed, She just conceived a child like the Christ Child.
(Irving 545). This shows that Owen s parents did not purposefully conceive him, but he was born for a
greater purpose. Later on in Owen s life, he has a vision of his grave and how he will die, which leads
him to prepare for his death. He saw his death so vividly, he knew Johnny would be present, therefore
he involves Johnny in his practice. Johnny explains, We practiced the shot for three or four days in a
row; of course, my part in this exercise was extremely limited, but I

A Cold, Brittle Wind Blew The Front Door Open
The chill of a cold, brittle wind blew the front door open just as the two gentlemen and gentlewoman
approached the front walk. The men were all of a leisurely persuasion and the young lady was a stray

Kohlberg s Theory Of Moral Development Essay
Lawrence Kohlberg is best known for his theory of moral development. This is a psychological theory
which Kohlberg was influenced by psychologists Jean Piaget and John Dewey stage of development.
Kohlberg developed most of his ideas based on Piaget s theory of cognitive development.
Accordingly, the theory of moral development consists of three levels of moral reasoning: pre
conventional, conventional, and post conventional. Additionally, it is broken down into two stages per
level. Pe conventional is stage one of obedience and punishment; stage two is individual interest.
Conventional is stage three of interpersonal and stage four is about authority. Lastly, post conventional

Their explanation was It s against the law or It s inferior to steal according to Crain, a professor at The
City College of New York. In stage two individual interest children commence recognizing the right
viewpoint. In contrast with stage one: stage two punishments are simply a risk that one wants to avoid
(Crain). Studies show boys want to avoid punishment because of their own interest. On of stage two s
characteristics is to act of someone s own attentiveness. Level one of moral development involves the
authorities laws and one s own interest. (Crain). The subsequent level in the theory of moral
development is conventional morality. The stages included in this level: interpersonal and authority.
Children that are typically in stage four are pre teens that are starting to understand morality with a
better comprehension of what it actually means. Children want the approval of others, so they can
have the desire of being a generous person. Preteens react this way in the sense of getting something
vigorous out of it, in this case being an exceptional person. An example of this stage is: a child gives
away her lunch to a street peasant because she thinks doing so means being nice (Sincero). The

students with the working community of research mathematicians and the world of recreational
mathematics. We expose students and their teachers to advanced mathematics in an engaging way that
affects both their content knowledge and their attitude towards the subject.
We accomplish this by running joyous cooperative events at schools, universities, and community
centers after school, involving students, teachers, and members of the mathematics community. These
Festivals offer an alternative to mathematics competition and examination, the more traditional ways

Cormac McCarthy is one America s most revered and influential authors of the 20th and 21st century.
Winning the Pulitzer Prize for literature and many other literary accolades, McCarthy took the world
by storm with his gritty realism and sparse use of literature. His success eventually lead to the movie
adaptations of two of his most praised novels, No Country for Old Men and The Road. These two
works displayed McCarthy s style and plot structure very well, even though his writing style is
predominantly unconventional . However, contrary to the irregular style of literature, both movies
received great praise from critics and fans for being so loyal to the source material, although,
screenwriters and directors deviates from the source material ... Show more content on

Considering the one of the main themes is about the end of humanity both physically and
psychologically, the narrative is wrought with brutality, hardships, and terror. For the entire duration
of the novel and movie, the father has accepted the idea that he would kill the son to save him from
capture if they were captured by cannibal men. In one portion of the novel, the protagonist come
across a house with a basement room filled with naked people, male and female, all trying to hide,
shielding their faces with their hands (110). They run out off the house seeing that there is a group of
cannibals approaching. In the film, the father and son are trapped in the house with the cannibals who
are unaware of their presence. Fearing that they would be captured and tortured to death, the father
ends up pressing the gun in the son s head and cocking it when he is almost certain that they would be
found. This is where the movie shows cinema s advantage over print. Possibly the bleakest scene in
the movie is when this occurs because the raw emotion the father and son exhibit on screen when they
are coming to terms with the worse possible outcome is both gut wrenching and unmatched by
McCarthy s writing. The novel, however, is overall much more grim and depressing due to scenes that
were cut out in the movie version. For example, there is a point in the book where the protagonists
witness a woman giving birth only to find a charred human

  • 2. The Importance Of International Terrorism The growing scope and complexity of international terrorism, particularly the threat to diplomats and diplomatic facilities, has caused widespread concern among members of the international community and prompted a lively debate on the measures appropriate for their protection. Consideration of this matter, however, has been greatly complicated not only by differing interpretations of the nature of terrorism but by the involvement of states themselves in terrorist activities. Once again, this problem is not new but since the 1960s, when terrorism emerged as a coherent doctrine of revolutionary warfare and a myriad groups sprang up around the world to capitalise on the increased vulnerability of modern society, the involvement of government s in terrorism has been given considerable attention. The debate over this matter has been heightened by the open admission of some states that they were prepared to sponsor terrorist groups as a means of extending their foreign policy options and by the Reagan Administration s insistence that terrorism has become a global issue with the potential to destroy diplomacy, undermine world stability and threaten civilisation itself .1 Despite the fact that the diplomatic laws have been in practice since the beginning of early civilizations, states have often acted in a manner contrary to VCDR principles and laws. There have been earlier incidents of the violation of inviolability of diplomatic privileges by the receiving state but most of them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Rhetorical Analysis Of Ich Bin-Bin Ein Berliner In 1963, the government of East Germany erected the Berlin Wall to stop emigration from East Germany into West Germany. In response to the wall s erection, JFK delivered a speech in West Berlin, right next to the wall. In his famous Ich bin ein Berliner speech, JFK effectively employs various rhetorical strategies in order to motivate the people of West Berlin and the world to take a stand against the evils of communism, with the wall being a manifestation of this evil. He utilizes juxtaposition, anaphora, and parallel structure to further his purpose. In doing so, he also effectively sends a message to the USSR that the Western world will not let democracy perish anywhere, and will stand up for all free peoples in the world. In his speech, Kennedy uses the rhetorical device of parallel structure to emphasize the strength and positive attributes of West Germany and their democratic political system. Towards the beginning of his speech, Kennedy states, Two thousand years ago, the proudest boast was civis Romanus sum . The phrase civis Romanus sum is latin for I am a Roman citizen , and was used as a rallying cry for the legal rights of Roman citizens. Rome was seen as the pinnacle of power, but also the pinnacle of legal rights for the citizens of its republic. In literature especially, the Roman political and legal ideals are regarded in very positive terms, and a comparison evokes ideas of republicanism, justice, fraternity, and equality. • 5. The Influence of Roman Engineering and Architecture The ingeniousness and beauty of Roman architecture has not been lost on us in the 2000 years since it was built. Even today, we still marvel at what incredible builders the Romans were, and at the sheer scale and integrity of many of their projects. It is hard to argue that today s architecture will maintain the same lasting grandeur as that which the Romans built. If we can still respect and admire the grandeur of Rome as it was in it s day, one can only imagine how much of an influence people of the time felt, due to the incredible innovations that the Romans brought to the new regions of their empire. In fact, it is because of the superior engineering skills and architectural ideas possessed by the Romans, and respected by others, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This water was then used for the public baths and toilets, besides the expected drinking water. The fact that this water was for the public, and not reserved for private use, pleased people in the new colonies even more, and made them even more accepting of Roman control. The actual aqueducts themselves, built by the Romans to carry the water, were perhaps even more influential. Aqueducts like Pont du Gard at Nimes (Images 3 and 4), or Segovia in Spain (Image 5), the latter of which still carries water today, were monumental landmarks in the colonies where they were built and still are today. That the Romans would build such magnificent and monumental structures for the sole purpose of supplying water to its colonies was likely overwhelming to those benefiting from it. So the Romans supplied the towns with water, and made travel between towns easier. But what about improving life within the town itself? It is in the public buildings such as the bath, the forum and the amphitheater, which people used and experienced daily, where Rome was able to exert its greatest influence. The fact that these buildings were open to all and not reserved for an elitist group of society only increased their significance. It is arguable that the grandness of the baths has yet to be surpassed in any public building since. These were huge, lavishly ornamented structures where citizens would go not only to bathe, but also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tale of Little Red Riding Hood is a short fiction story, which is a modern version of the classic short story with a sexual intake. In this story we see how the town wolves are considered sexual predators who need to be satisfied with sex, yet they kill the people they have sex with, because the women usually do not want to accept their sexual desires. However, when Little Red Riding Hood is faced with the wolf, she doesn t allow him to take control over her and do as he pleases, but instead laughs in his face when he mentions of eating her and takes control of the situation, her body by accepting her sexual desires and tames the wolf unlike the other women throughout the story. • 7. Biography Of Chuck, An African American Male Chuck, an African American male, was brought to my funeral home after an autopsy had been completed on him. Chuck passed away in a car accident after his car crossed the centerline, was hit by another car and then upon impact burned. Amazingly, Chuck got out of the car but later died on the side of the road before help had arrived. Chuck s ability to get out the car and dying on the side of the road led to this being an autopsy case. While preparing Chuck for his services, I noticed that he has light discolorations on his hands and face due to his car catching on fire. This goes to show that he suffered first degree burns. First degree burns or hyperemia is any injury caused by heat, which produces redness of the skin. This type of burn does not present any unusual difficulty when embalming or preparing the body. Although it is discolored, we have to be thankful that the skin will just be red, unbroken and has no tissue destruction. For the discoloration, I used a stronger than normal arterial injection solution as a precaution against skin slip, applied massage cream during the embalming process and used cosmetics after embalming to help reduce the visibility of the burns on his hands and face. The fact that Chuck has a ruptured aorta causes some difficulties and will affect the embalming process, however embalming can still take place. A ruptured aorta will cause the embalming fluid to fill the cavity rather than going through the arterial system. If one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hall | | Liberty University | 1/18/2015 | | Summary Since 1985 there has been a tremendous increase in research regarding intrapersonal forgiveness, but very little regarding self forgiveness. The purpose of this article was to bring attention to the topic of self forgiveness within this growing body of research. The definitions of self forgiveness from many disciplines were reviewed along with what features of self forgiveness differ from those of intrapersonal forgiveness emphasizing the need for an increase in empirical research on the subject matter. The simple act of defining self forgiveness in a way that is applicable across disciplines provides counselor and researchers a better starting point when approaching the topic of self forgiveness. One concept I found very interesting was the distinction between true self forgiveness and pseudo self forgiveness. It is intuitive for me to believe that it is not possible for pseudo self forgiveness to have the same effect as true self forgiveness, but with out research on the matter how can one be sure. When I read that the test for self forgiveness cannot differentiate between the two, it made me wonder if it is difficult for a person or a counselor to know the difference. It also made me wonder if it is possible that simply believing that things are better can actually make someone feel better. I also found the question regarding the appropriateness of self forgiveness to be interesting. When a person believes something is their fault that is not, what approach should a counselor take? Is it more appropriate to spend the time and effort on developing the skills to know what happened was not the client s fault, or is it more appropriate to provide the skills that will allow the person to forgive his or herself for what they believed they caused to happen? While this would have to be considered on a case by case basis, as a counselor it would be helpful to have more research on the topic that results in guidance on how to approach these types of ... Soltes (2011) discusses Cassatt s, Woman and Child before a Washstand and Bowl (1889) and describes the tones of a delicate palate characteristic of Impressionist painting. He notes her brushwork is tighter than typical Impressionism and is similar to that of Degas, assuming their close relationship affected her artistic style as a painter. Her subject matter echoes the continuity of the Madonna and Christ child yet in a modern humanized version of an actual mother and child. Soltes (2011) regards Cassatt as: an important link between America and Europe because she is a consummate painter in the Impressionist mode of her own particularized style; but because she was well off enough to purchase Impressionist works and bring them back to the United States, which helped further tighten the link between American appreciation of Impressionism and the Impressionism being produced in France and in Europe in general (L35, 22:28). The Mongols often fought on horseback and surrounded their enemies, which was an extremely efficient way to conquer. Their battle tactics portrayed them as barbaric and scary, enabling them to surround and conquer lands. Throughout the 13th century, the Mongols portrayed a barbaric image to the rest of the world due to their battle tactics, severe punishments, and their ability to conquer great amount of land. The first thing that the Mongols did that made them barbaric were their battle tactics, which included throwing Greek inextinguishable fire, fighting one Mongol to three opposing soldiers, ... Genghis Khan also conquered almost quadruple what Adolf Hitler conquered (1,370,000) (Doc 1). This shows Genghis Khan s widespread conquest of lands all over Asia and eastern Europe. The fact that Genghis Khan to this day has conquered the most land all over Asia and some of eastern Europe shows how scary and barbaric the Mongols must have looked. The second and final examples are on the Mongols attacks on China. From the source, Mongol Background Essay, they stated that during the first wave in Asia it was said that, Genghis Khan launched an army of 200,000 men across the Gobi Desert...Numerous Chinese cities fell, including the capitol where Mongol slaughter was so great the streets were said to be greasy with human fat and flesh (DBQ 2010). Genghis Khan s army was so powerful that they successfully conquered China, one of the strongest empires, so much so that they covered China s capitol s streets with human blood and fat. This is yet another example of barbarity. The final example of their barbaric acts is from Robert Marshall s Storm from the East. He stated that a census taken from the Chin Empire in 1195 showed a population of around 50 million, but after the Mongols dominated in 1235 the count of people was less than 9 million (Doc 15). I think you would be making a mistake not to at least look in to hiring a hacker to help your organization. Fist things fist lets look at what makes a hacker a hacker. Many people conflate the terms virus and worm , using them both to describe any self propagating program. It is possible for a program to have the blunt characteristics of both a worm and a virus. Most people when they here the term hacker automatically think of a person of questionable morals and intentions. This is not always necessarily thecase. The emerging concept of mobile edge clouds equips cellular network entities (such as basestations) with servers, so that users can run cloud services with significantly lower latency [2]. The introduction of femtocells allows users to buy their own cellular network devices based on their needs, thereby reducing the operators expenditure and improving the network coverage [3]. All these trends point to the same direction. That is, in the future, there will be more businesses operating on a single networked platform, and the interactions between them will become increasingly complex. The tradition that does not change however is that, due to physical limitations, the amount of resources (such as communication bandwidth, computational capability of servers, electricity, etc.) in the system remains limited. Therefore, there is a growing need of studying how to efficiently allocate resources to different business entities. x Q. Song is the corresponding author. One fast and effective method of allocating resources at market value is using auctions. The classical sealed price double auction1 is used in [4] and [5], where bids are made privately and truthfulness can be ensured. And when virtue has been corrupted, a heroic leader must appear who in rebuilding the political order infuses this virtue into the entire citizenry. Montesquieu saw corruption as the dysfunctional process by which a good political order is perverted into evil one and a monarchy into despotism. According to Rosseau political corruption is a necessary consequence of the struggle for power. Then he argued that man had been corrupted by social and political life. It is not the corruption of man which destroyed the political system but the political system which corrupts and destroys man. Corruption is a kind of behavior which deviates from the norm actually prevalent or behaved to prevail in a given context, such as the political. It is deviant behavior associated with a particular motivation, namely that of private gain at public expense. There have been a number of different attempts at defining corruption. However no precise definition can be found which applies to all forms, types and degrees of corruption, or which would be acceptable universally. According to Oxford English Dictionary (OED) the term corruption in political context is defined as Perversion or favor, the use or existence of corrupt practices, especially in a state, public corruption. Anderson explores the rapidly shifting mood of the country with the optimism during the Kennedy years, the liberal advances of Johnson s Great Society, and the growing conflict over Vietnam that nearly tore America apart. To a large extent, it is agreeable that that the 1960s serves as the era that led to activism in the US. Anderson is able to confirm and strengthen his standpoint by the fact that it was during one of the greatest milestones of the 1960s, the Vietnam War, that for the first time in the history of the US, the government was subjected to criticism and attacks against their ways . This can be evidenced by the fact that Americans, which were majority college students, took to the streets to protest government action. At the time, the policies and actions put forth by the government were seen to be very secretive and wrong. Citizens were hastily informed about the need to stop the spread of communism at the expense of capitalism. • 23. Relationship Between Gender Bias And Gender Essay This study focuses on the relationship between gender bias, gender ideology, and gender roles in everyday life. The study analyzes how differences in gender affect professors behavior in the classroom. My research question is how do men and women view professors treatment of students based on gender? Some basic guiding questions are: In your opinion and experience, do professors treat certain groups of students differently? Who are these students? Specifically, do professors treat men vs. women differently in the classroom? Why do you think professors do/don t do this? My hypothesis was that respondents would think professors call on men in the classroom due to their stereotypical qualities of being competitive, confident, and dominant. The overwhelming majority of people describe women as shy, compassionate, and timid . Men are more willing to speak up and shout out an answer in the classroom because of their confidence and dominance. Given these stereotypical traits it would be more likely for a male to answer a question, get called on, or engage in a conversation with the teacher rather than a women because of women s timid traits . I believe that the majority of men are less likely to filter a response and think before they speak in class, therefore leading them to get called on by the professor to share their opinion. From my own experience I have seen this begin to change over the years possibly because of the increase in women in the social and political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people believe that because we have so many technological advancements and that humans can build or make anything necessary for their survival. Even with the current technology and other advancements, research has proven that humans are still evolving. Much of the evolution that is happening today has to do with the human genome and adapting to current issues in the world. There has been much research done on the human genome and how it is still mutating and changing. Natural selection has a big part in how the genome changes. Mutations are another point to look at when determining if the human species is still evolving. A third point to look at is gene flow and how that affects different populations. The purpose of this paper is to review multiple different articles to establish whether or not the human species is currently evolving. The articles used for this paper confirm that humans continue to evolve. While humans have the technology and skills to make their environments suit their needs, it can clearly be seen that humans continue to evolve and adapt. CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Procrastination is a behavior or an act of delaying starting or performing a task that was supposed or anticipated to be done within a definite time limit. It is a phenomenon that has been extensively researched upon especially in academic settings. Several studies have explored its causes, form and effects. Findings have suggested how it is detrimental to academic achievement, long term health, financial standing, well being, etc. (Sepehrian Lotf, 2011; Tice Baumeister, 1997; McCown Johnson 1989; Steel, 2007). Despite the unfavorable connotations attached to it, the practice of this phenomenon has not subsided over the years. Researches have indicated that a large number of students are involved in procrastination (Harriot Ferrari, 1996). The number has been approximated at 95% in some studies (Ellis Knaus, 1977; Steel, 2007, Tan, Ang, Klassen, Yeo, Wong, Huan, Chong, 2008). The phenomenon is not limited to one nation or state, actually it is widely practiced in many cultures or countries across the globe (McCown Roberts, 1994; Solomon Rothblum, 1984; Uzun Ozer, Demir, Ferrari, 2009; Bhutto, Mohsin Niazi, 2011). In the beginning of the novel, Owen comes across as slightly different with his minuscule size and high pitched voice, but as the novel progresses and Owen ages, his inhuman qualities become more and more prevalent, eventually leading to the biggest indicator of all his death. In the novel, Owen Meany is willingly able to plan the sacrifice of his own life in order to save the lives of others, showing he is a supernatural being. Owen Meany was predestined to be a savior for the Vietnamese children and he had been preparing for this sacrifice his entire life. From the time he was born, Owen was always special. His parents admitted that he was unnatural when Mr. Meany exclaimed, She just conceived a child like the Christ Child. (Irving 545). This shows that Owen s parents did not purposefully conceive him, but he was born for a greater purpose. Later on in Owen s life, he has a vision of his grave and how he will die, which leads him to prepare for his death. He saw his death so vividly, he knew Johnny would be present, therefore he involves Johnny in his practice. Johnny explains, We practiced the shot for three or four days in a row; of course, my part in this exercise was extremely limited, but I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hawthorne gave The Wayside the name by which it is still known. The Wayside built in 1714 is a typical New England two story wood frame house, in Concord, Massachusetts. With that much literary history in the home, it was the perfect place to hold a dinner party. Mr. E. A Poe, his proud and beautiful head erect, his dark eyes flashing with the elective light of feeling and of thought, a peculiar, an inimitable blending of sweetness and hauteur in his expression and manner, greeted his guests into the front parlor as they waited for the dinner to commence. They run out off the house seeing that there is a group of cannibals approaching. In the film, the father and son are trapped in the house with the cannibals who are unaware of their presence. Fearing that they would be captured and tortured to death, the father ends up pressing the gun in the son s head and cocking it when he is almost certain that they would be found. This is where the movie shows cinema s advantage over print. Possibly the bleakest scene in the movie is when this occurs because the raw emotion the father and son exhibit on screen when they are coming to terms with the worse possible outcome is both gut wrenching and unmatched by McCarthy s writing. The novel, however, is overall much more grim and depressing due to scenes that were cut out in the movie version.
