The Searchers is an accurate representation of the Americanized west as defined by ... Two years after
Ethan s participation in the Civil War in favor of the Confederacy, he returns to visit his family who
has migrated westward. His family consists of his brother and his wife, their two daughters, and two
sons whom one of which is adopted. Ethan bears gifts for his family such as the saber he gave to Ben
and the medal that he gave to Debbie, when she requested a necklace similar to the one that was given
to her sister. Within a week of his return they are visited by the ranger and preacher, Samuel Johnson,

But, there is something unusual about the scene, the cattle have been untouched after being killed
which is unlikely, due to the natives belief that nothing should be wasted and everything having use.
After completing the task at hand Ethan and Martin return home, only to discover it in ruins and
within the ruins Ethan discovers the mutilated bodies of all of his family excluding his two nieces.
Thereafter, providing a proper burial for his family, Ethan, Martin, and some others begin their
journey of retribution and hatred for the natives as they search for the remaining survivors of their
family. Ethan s developed hatred for the Native Americans is displayed when he fires his gun at the
eyes of a corpse and then says that according to native belief once one loses his sight they will forever
roam the spirit world ceaselessly. This is especially monstrous as one understands that he is not
limited to destruction and hatred on a physical level, but is willing to spiritually violate members of
the native american race. The proceedings in this film are extremely biased as many characters have
assumed the native american people to be savages. Even the reason for Ethan s hate is highly unlikely

How Poliomyelitis Is A Contagious And Aggressive Virus
Poliomyelitis is a highly contagious and aggressive virus which attacks motor neurones attached to the
spinal chord and brainstem. There is no cure for Polio however there is a vaccine which contains a
mixture of live and weakened strains of the three types of polio; Bulbar polio, spinal polio and
bulbospinal polio. Poliomyelitis is an aggressive virus which is able to pass through the three line of
defence. It is passed through the first line by the faecal/oral route and enters the bloodstream. It
invades the T and B cells which are activated in the innate immune system and is fought by the
antibodies in the stage of the Adaptive immune system, where symptoms are already exposed. In order
to eradicate Polio more accessible treatment in developing countries as well as better sanitation is
needed.
Poliomyelitis, or Polio is a highly contagious disease caused by the Polio virus, which can affect the
spinal cord and brainstem. Although 90 95 % of who are acutely affected by Polio are Asymptomatic,
5 10% experience mild symptoms such as a head ache, fever, fatigue, throat pain and stomach pain
and 0.5 % experience muscle symptoms such as muscle weakness, muscle spasming/twitching, loss of
muscle tone and complete loss of movement in muscles. If the virus makes it s way into the brain or
spinal cord it can cause paralysis and even death. As mentioned before the disease spreads very easily
between person to person, particularly affecting infants younger than 6 months. There

Examples Of How Democratic Was Andrew Jackson Dbq
How Democratic Was Andrew Jackson?
Democracy is defined as the people having a say in the government, whether it be through
representatives or directly. When answering the question How Democratic Was Andrew Jackson? , I
would say that Andrew Jackson was the embodiment of democracy when it came to the people having
a say. During his presidential campaign in 1828 Andrew Jackson s campaign motto was Let the people
have a say! Jackson believed that rich and powerful people got away with bending the acts of the
government to get what they wanted, as shown in document 4. In this document he told Congress
.It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their selfish
purposes.
Document 6 show a perfect example of just how democratic President Jackson was. One of the first
things he did when he was elected into office was present the idea to congress that any government
elected job be limited to a four year term. I submit, therefore, to your consideration...(a) law which
limits appointments to four years. In a country where offices are created solely for the benefit of the
people, no one man has any more... right to (government jobs) than another (Document 6). This

citizens and rich stockholders. Andrew Jackson was out to eliminate social classes and was all about
people saying how they wanted the government to be

Ken Elton Kesey Essay
Ken Elton Kesey, author and guru of the hippie generation, was born on September 17, 1935, in La
Junta, Colorado. However, Kesey was brought up in Springfield, Oregon, where his parents had a
dairy farm and he was prominent in wrestling, as well as playing football. Kesey also developed an
interest in theatre at the University of Oregon at this time, but a scholarship for his accomplishments
in wrestling deterred him from pursuing an acting career.
After marrying Norma Faye Haxby, Kesey s high school girlfriend, he considered a career as an actor
once more, but instead he won a scholarship to the graduate program in writing at Stanford University
(A E Networks Television, 23 Mar. 2016) and enrolled there in 1958 (Public Broadcasting Service,

The Merry Pranksters were temporarily interrupted when Kesey was charged for possessing

Kesey returned to the United States and endured a six month sentence on a work farm before resuming

Should Cyberbullies Be Prosecuted For Harassing...
Should cyber bullies be prosecuted for harassing individuals online? The answer is yes, reasoning for
this is because students are unable to escape the wrath of bullies when they get home because they are
on social media now. Students used to be able to get home and have peace because the bullies were

Oklahoma bombing that happened a few years before them. Another one of their plans was taking
over a jetliner and crashing it into a building across the country in New York city. Many times on the
same website they stated their plans to flee the state and even country. The final plan they decided on
was to rig bombs in the High School cafeteria and exploding them when it was at capacity, then as the
survivors ran out of the school they would shoot at the mass of frantic bodies, as first responders
arrived on the scene they would then set off bombs rigged to cars in the parking lot. Once they settled

The Complex Adaptive System Of A Healthcare Organization
The key to the success of a healthcare organization is defined by the many qualities and attributes its
leaders possess when overseeing patient care. Such care, whether executed at the micro, meso, or
macro level, can be beneficial to an organization, or results in the failure when change is
inappropriately addressed. A strong leader is one who can manage change, and direct care throughout
all the numerous levels of an organization by utilizing values that are a reflection of the bureaucratic
thoughts and principles, or the complex adaptive system. The complex adaptive system is a
comprehensive system that is complicated in nature and often can cause chaos and the failure of an
organization when change is not properly managed. During my professional career, I have observed
many styles of management skills and found this to work both against an organization and as well as,
prove beneficial when handling change. The overall success of any organization is dependent upon the
quality attributes of its leaders. I believe the complex adaptive method is a control method that forces
the good employees away. A prime example of this style of management was observed with the
launching of computerizing charting.
Computers, as you are familiar with can be challenging, and as well as, they can create havoc which
can be devastating for some. Seasonal nurses are not so reluctant to give in to any changes, and trying

The Pros And Cons Of Wireless Connections
Our society is becoming more and more reliant on wireless connections. The ability for both
employees and consumers to connect wirelessly is a must in this day and age for businesses. Because
of this, strict security policies must be put in place in order to keep the business and its data secure.
This paper will discuss the pros and cons of wireless connections, the need for authentication and six
top threats that companies should be aware of and how to prevent them.
It seems that everything is wireless nowadays. Nobody wants cords to drag them down and keep them
in a specific location anymore and it s easy to see why. Convenience, simple as that. No need to carry
those pesky Ethernet cable around anymore or be confined to a single area to connect to the network.
Even though wireless has become more and more popular, there is still the need for large businesses to
take a look at the pros and cons. From a business point of view, some of the best pros of a wireless
network according to American EHR are the ease of installation, mobility and cost. Setting up a
wireless connection is relatively simple and takes much less time than a wired network. The ease of
mobility is a plus as well. Employees can bring their laptops to the conference room and access the
network without the need of wires. A big benefit is the low cost of wireless and that will often times
make any CEO s ears perk if they hear the phrase save money. These are just a few of the positives of
a wireless

Agricultural Subsidies and Globalisation
Agricultural Subsidies and Globalization
This essay will discuss the effects that agricultural subsidies have on globalization. The main points
that will be covered in regards to subsidies and their effects on worldwide productivity, poverty in
undeveloped countries, the stance of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and International Monetary
Fund (IMF) and some discussion on implementation. First, it would be prudent to define some terms
that will be used in this paper.
Globalization is defined by Charles Hill as, the shift toward a more integrated and interdependent
world economy and includes both the globalization of markets and production. (Hill, 2009, p.6) He

With an increase in GDP, developing countries would be able to shift resources from a subsistence
level of inputs into agriculture towards infrastructure and education. Agricultural producers in
undeveloped countries currently use low technology and high labour methods. As the undeveloped
countries are able to advance in technology and knowledge, they would be able to move their
production possibilities toward meeting worldwide demands. Undeveloped countries typically are
producing for their own survival and little for foreign export, as production becomes more efficient
and surplus is gained, then farmers would be able to export the excess to the world market. Smith
points to the case of African cotton and its US production to show where subsidies hurt both
productivity and trade. The United States cotton producers are subsidized by the government and this
has depressed the prices worldwide by approximately a quarter which costs West African countries
$200 million in lost foreign exchange. Over 11 million people rely on cotton for their income but with
US subsidies in place it reduces the price and therefore income received. If subsidies were removed,
Africa could produce at two thirds the

Prediction of Age, Gender and Personality Traits Using Facebook Data

Introduction
In the last decade, social networks like Facebook [1] have emerged as popular medium of social
interaction and information dissemination. From a social web data mining perspective, Facebook
stores a wealth of data about people and their interests. As more and more users are creating their own
content on Facebook, there is a growing interest to mine this data for use in personalized information

Related Work
In this section, we discuss the recent research work related to techniques for predicting age, gender
and personality based on the information available on social networking sites. Most studies predict
personality from the language used by a person to update status or chat in social network.
According to recent works based on study of function words such as pronouns, conjunctions, articles
and prepositions, the elderly use more future tense words and pronouns in their plural forms. The
same studies show that males use more articles and females make heavy use of first person singular
pronouns. In [7], the authors state that even with its challenges, text categorization is a reliable
approach to identify the age and gender of people in social network communication. Goldbeck et al.,
in [3], show that people of different age groups talked about different topics. For example, those
within the age group of 13 to 18 mostly discussed activities related to school, 19 to 22 year olds talked
about university/college.
Many efforts have been made by researchers to analyze the words used by humans to understand their
psychology [2]. Public information of a group of Facebook users was collected by the authors of [6].
They were able to predict the Big five personality traits of the users using this data within 89%
accuracy.

popular website visited in the world (Brin Gale Biography). And in 2003 Google was at the top of the
world as one of the most powerful businesses and presently still is (Page, Gale Biography). However,
Google has done a lot more than dominating the Internet domain. Google has helped the world in a

He specialized in engineering and he focused more specifically in computer science, and graduated

Sergey Brin, the other co founder of Google, who served as his tour guide. Both were considered very
bright and intelligent young men. However, they did not get along well at all at first. they both had
very strong opinions in computers, technology, and urban planning, but somehow, some way, they

Compare And Contrast Jefferson And New Jersey Plan
Both Hamilton and Jefferson worked alongside George Washington during his presidency. Hamilton
was appointed the first Secretary of Treasurer and Jefferson was the first Secretary of State. Jefferson
was the older man of the two with twelve years being born on 1743, in Virgina to a wealthy family,
while Hamilton was born on 1755 in the West Indies to a poor family. Jefferson had the best education
the colonies could offer due to his family s status as wealthy planters and slave owners giving
Jefferson plenty of opportunities to be successful himself. Hamilton had a different route due to his
poor family and mothers death and fathers abandonment of the family. Hamilton received his

Jefferson believes the constitution protected the right of the people and for independence both
Hamilton and Jefferson had opposing views. Jefferson argues that independence comes from land
ownership and if all the people can have an agrarian lifestyle. The idea mostly comes from how he
was born into a rich family and his father and himself were planters. Therefore he believed that if the
people are living fine independent lives where members of society can make their own food and live
on their own property the country as a collective will be independent as well. Hamilton disagreed and
believed the opposite that if the nation is independent than the people will have independence. For this
belief he wanted to start trade with other countries and in order to do that he thought America had to
start manufacturing and creating its own goods to trade with other countries. Hamilton s point is
stating how if the society wants people to make products that can be traded with other countries, then
it can open job opportunities for the citizens. Therefore the country will have independence by
creating their own goods for profit and the people will have independence by finding a job and being
able to pay for their food leading to their independence. Jefferson argued against this stating that if we
got to war with the countries that were trading with what happens then. Later on, after Hamilton s
death and during Jefferson s

Rhetorical Analysis Of While We Sleep
Since the beginning of time, those not classified as men have faced many struggles. This wide group
ranges anywhere from children to women. The working boom in America is one of many factors that
is accountable for the limitations these groups face. These powerless groups did not have enough
voice, originally, to demand equal treatment under the law and society. Therefore, many reform groups
arose during American history to encourage society to call to action the freedom we all enjoy and
protect today. In her speech given before the National American Women Suffrage Association in
Philadelphia, Florence Kelly utilizes anaphora, rhetorical questions, an empathetic yet sarcastic tone,
and selection of detail to emphasize unfairness in working conditions for children and to encourage
her audience to take feminist action. Kelly effectively uses anaphora throughout her speech with the
purpose of getting her audience to bring about change. The repetition of the phrase While we sleep
stresses the unethical conditions these voiceless children had to face. Every time this phrase is stated,
it builds up her impact and works the audience towards her advantage. Kelly appeals to her audience s
empathetic emotions and moral values by utilizing the importance of sleep. Her listeners understand
the vitality of sleep, thus stressing that these children lack this, brings her a huge step forward. She
forces her audience to face the sad reality that they peacefully sleep, as young children

Tracy Smith s Poems
Is there a future to look forward to beyond life itself? This is a thought that is often posed in, famous
poet, Tracy K Smith s poems as well. She has been named the U.S. Poet Laureate and has written
several successful, meaningful poems in her career. No one knows what is after life, but could one at
least have hope for what is to come to be pleasant or look forward to whatever the future holds. Smith,
in several of her poems such The Universe as a Primal Scream and Flores Woman, displays a hope for
better events to come, despite the pains and hardships she faced during the course of her lifetime.

In October 2004, Nature provided an article that tells of a tiny group of people that lived on the remote

about one of the flores women and the things going on around her, such as the sounds she heard, the
colors she saw, and reasons her people hunted, which was because everyday they had a dance against
hunger (Smith 10). She then continues her poem no longer concerning those everyday details, but
focuses on what the woman may have felt and urned for. Smith writes about, a rage of waves that

these people of Flores. Even though this Flores Woman does not know what is beyond the horizon,

Accuracy of Bayley Scores as Outcome Measures in Trials of...
Introduction
Long term follow up of high risk preterm infants has become increasingly important as the proportion
of infants surviving has increased steadily over the past several decades. It is well known that these
infants are at increased risk of cognitive impairment. (Class) With this increase in at risk survivors,
many clinical research questions arise that can only be answered by long term follow up studies.
(Vohr, Teune) Clinical trials that examine common perinatal therapies should also include a long term
follow up component in their research to examine later neurodevelopmental outcomes in their cohorts.
Although there is no prescribed protocol dictating which specific neurodevelopmental tests are to be
completed during follow up, the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development and all its
revisions, is the most widely used test to assess neurodevelopment of very preterm infants in the first
three years of life (Luttikhuizen) and is a common outcome measure used in clinical research trials.
Standardized developmental assessments such as the Bayley that are used in a pediatric clinical trial
setting as primary outcome measures need to be reliably administered and scored. Trained test
administrators and scorers are generally careful that the tests they are administering are conducted and
scored correctly. However, given the range of numerical calculations and transcriptions required in
scoring the results of these tests, there is always a chance that errors

The Normative View Of Christianity
Christianity is a widespread religion that reaches many different cultures and places all around the
world. Since it is such a widespread religion there are many types of interpretations that can be
developed based off the words and teachings of the Bible. Most commonly we have the normative
view of Christianity. The normative view can most basically be understood as the highly shared
teachings of churches. Another type of interpretation that encompasses all beliefs that are not
compliant with the normative view is called esoteric. Here we will compare the interpretations of
Daskalos, the Great Teacher of Cypress, and his Researchers of Truth against the normative view of
Christianity as understood by both Catholics and Protestants. In order to further investigate the
differences between Daskalos esoteric beliefs and normative beliefs we must understand fully what
esoteric and normative truly mean. A few beliefs of normative Christianity, as explained by Moreman,
are as follows: the belief in judgement after death. There are only 2 places to go, hell or heaven and
that may or may not be after a slight stop in purgatory, the intermediate state of being right after death
where souls await resurrection (Moreman, 62). When the resurrection happens, people will be
resurrected in their physical bodies, thanks to interpretations by St. Augustine of Hippo (Moreman,
62). Those souls or people that are evil will spend eternity in hell in fiery damnation (Moreman, 63).

Spruce Goose Research Paper
When you think of aircraft, most likely you think of jets, helicopters, and maybe UFOs. The history of
flight has produced many varied designs because people did not know how to fly and there were
numerous ideas on how to make flight work. We are used to seeing jets and helicopters now, but in the
beginning, there were a variety of prototypes based on the needs at the time. There has actually been
fierce competition during the invention phases of planes. One thing that you will notice is that the
Hughes H4 Hercules, or Spruce Goose, as it was commonly known, is not included here. That is not to
say that it was not an amazine aircraft with an interesting history, and its story is actually similar to
many described here. However, the ones chosen are very peculiar looking by any standards, while the

the aircraft was intentionally stalled in the air to show that the parasol could act as a parachute and it
came down almost vertically to a soft landing at 25 miles per hour.It became the first round wing
design to maintain consistent flight. It was stable and the pilot could maintain complete control at low
speeds. In the test flight, the plane had a smooth takeoff and landing. Only one prototype was ever
made and strangely, there is no information available on why there was no further testing or what

Internal Student Satisfaction Feedback Has On The Quality...
According to Fielding et al. (2010), over the last few decades universities in many countries have been
increasing the amount of feedback they gather from their students due to the increased importance of
maintaining high standards in higher education. A high calibre of students combined with a vast
number of higher education institutions to choose from, means that there is more motivation for such
institutions to aim for a quality of learning higher than in previous years and superior to perceived
competitors. There is a great deal of debate surrounding the NSS and the use of internal feedback in
universities across the UK.

Cohen (1980) said that other purposes [aside from improving teaching] include aiding administrative
processes. This involves monitoring lecturers as employees in order to support appraisals and reviews,
as well as providing students with evidence to base their choice of institution on. This was later
supported by Kember et al. (2010) who found that feedback questionnaires did not necessarily
improve teaching quality and that their main purpose was to aid appraisal.
Analysis on internal feedback is conducted frequently at Cardiff University. Though there is little
research done on the actual impact of conducting regular questionnaires on the quality of teaching,
Kember et al. (2010) found that there was no evidence of an improvement in the quality of teaching
during a 4 year observation period across 25 departments in one university. (The quality was measured
using a student feedback questionnaire, with a 5 point Likert scale. Contrary to this, Tuckman et al.
(1968) found evidence suggesting an improvement in the quality of teaching as a result of internal
feedback over a 12 week observation period. This was concluded by monitoring the student ratings of
286 teachers.

The Use Of Modern Plastic Surgery And Cosmetic Surgery
Introduction
Throughout the twentieth century, the use of modern plastic surgery has evolved from a procedure
used to provide treatment for disfiguring facial of the soldiers during WWI into a slave of modern
beauty culture, more commonly known as cosmetic surgery (Gillies H, 1920). Although, the term
plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery are used interchangeably, they are intrinsically different. On one
hand, cosmetic surgery aims to enhance a patient s appearance, which can be performed in all areas
such as breasts, nose of body shape. Plastic surgery, on the other, aims to reconstruct facial and body
defects such as burns, which are critical to their rehabilitation. (American Board of Cosmetic Surgery,
2016). Despite the optimistic view of such invention, some serious criticisms have been raised
regarding the side effects of the patients undergoing a cosmetic surgery. Whilst both academics and
publics have long debated on this matter, there is still a significant lack of literature which emphasizes
specifically on young people despite the increasing figure of teenagers undergoing cosmetic surgery.
For this reason, my research papers aim to focus specifically on the perspectives of international
students in the UK on the procedure of cosmetic surgery.
Literature Review
Plastic surgery has been with humanity since Egyptian era, however, the origin of modern plastic
surgery was first performed on injured soldiers in the United States during Word War I to provide

Young Man In A Grey Sweater Essay
Diego Rivera s Young Man in a Grey Sweater depicts the portrait of sculptor Jacques Lipchitz. The
piece was painted in 1914 in Paris, with oil on canvas. Present location is Museum of Modern Art,
New York.
This is rectangular piece, the size of 65.1 x 54.9 cm. Looking from a distance, painting has a uniform
color spectrum. Artist uses mostly warm earth tone palette: beige, grey, yellow and burnt umber, with
black for creating outline of the forms, and occasional multicolored patches for additional accents.
There is no visible source of light, however lighter areas of the painting are focused in the center,
while more contrast and darker areas tend to be around the middle section. From a distance,
brushstrokes look more unified, but when looking up closer, we can notice that artist, while blending
colors, uses distinctive strokes. So even blended, colors create some visual texture. There is no
noticeable degree of perspective or depth, painting looks rather flat.
Painting is done in cubist manner. The whole image is fragmented, with each fragment having a
geometrical shape. There are thick dark lines that divide each fragment one from another, so image
looks broken in pieces. The subject of the painting, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So how can it be distinguished among many other paintings inspired by the cubism movement? Young
Man in a Grey Sweater can t be defined as a pure analytical cubism. Though Rivera uses typical
palette of this kind of cubism, the elements are not translucent and intricate enough, there are some
texture and foreign colorful patterns. But it can t be an example of synthetic cubism either, not enough
construction, no perspective, image is still flat. Thus, Young Man in a Grey Sweater is located
somewhere in the middle of two types of cubism. Undefined, it doesn t loose its beauty. It means that
the painting can go beyond the established categories, and we can clearly read the author in

Biological Level Of Analysis
Psychology EE Draft 1
Biological The biological level of analysis suggests that biological factors play a large role in
heterosexual attraction. Biological aspects including hormones, neurotransmitters and evolutionary
explanations provide insight into romantic attraction. Commonly, new lovers will continuously think
about their beloved, and develop a sense of obsession. This irrepressible feeling of being in love is the
result of a biochemical cocktail (course companion). In anthropologist Fischer s (2004) book Why We

Buss (1996) suggested that jealously may be biologically based, and that women s patterns of jealousy
may vary through their menstrual cycle. It was found that when oestrogen levels were low, during
menstruation, women were more sexually jealous, while when their oestrogen levels were high, during
ovulation, they were more emotionally jealous. Evolutionary explanations suggest that human sexual
behaviour is based off the need to optimise the prospective of reproduction, and is driven by securing
the best genetic combination for offspring as well as the maximisation of parental care after child
birth. During menstruation, females tend to worry that their partners will seek out another mate,
whereas during ovulation they may fear that their partner will form an alternative emotional
attachment to another possible mate, as the jeopardisation of the security of her child causes anxiety.
This study suggests that the jealousy patterns of women may be related to the potential safety of her
child. Another study done by Buss (1993) found that men and women in areas with high levels of
pathogen stress rated the significance of physical attractiveness of a mate as

Satire In Miller s Tale
Chaucer s tone comes forth as more ironic rather than direct criticism. Chaucer overly satirizes the
Miller s profession in order to manipulate the genre of estate satire to hopefully spark public
discourse. Miller understands the Miller s Tale as a complaint aimed at the hierarchy of estates (Miller
147 48). For Chaucer s purposes, estate satire illustrates hierarchical divisions and social function and
morality of each character type. However, the subtle portraits of Chaucer s pilgrims bring out how
difficult it is to form moral and social judgments because of their dependence upon each other.
Chaucer tries to save himself from ridicule by saying he is only a scribe. In making the criticism of the
estate hierarchy the Miller s complaint ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On Space Travel
No one wants to die. That is a fact of life and apart of human nature. Unfortunately, humans are the
main source for increasing pollution rates, deforestation, a large contributor for climate change, and
the overall destruction of our planet. This is not a local issue, a state issue, or even an issue subjected
to just one country. This is a global issue that will effect everything. Our withering planet is why space
travel is important for our society.
Earth is our home. In fact, it s home to over 7.5 billion people. All of those people using gas, eating
food, producing waste: biological and material, in need of clothes, and reproducing. With current
trends in population growth, many analyst speculate that the world population will expand to 10
billion people in 2050. Humans typically cannot fathom numbers larger than the thousands, as a local
point of reference, a very obnoxiously crowded Cowboy s Stadium can hold a maximum of 100,000
people, now imagine that number times 100,000. David Criswell, a physicist from the University of
Houston, claims We are already well beyond what the biosphere can provide. We have to go outside to
get something else . Earth has reached its threshold. It can barely support 7.5 billion people, we have a
pollution crisis we are already trying to deal with, another 2.5 billion people will probably cause us to
suffocate in our own man made waste. NASA sums it up perfectly, the only logical thing left to do is
establish a space colony.

arguments and quarrels since couple of years in almost every nation of the world. Looking deep down
to the region of United States, same sex marriage or gay marriage has not been legalized and
documented in most of its jurisdictions. However, it is prudent to note that with the beginning of the
twenty first century, only a few of US states have legally recognized the gay marriage through court
verdicts and legislative proceedings and have lawfully allowed the gay people to get into a
relationship (Wolfson 2004). Nevertheless, it has also been noticed that with the passage of time
increasing number of people are supporting the legalization of gay marriage at a progressive and
noticeable speed. In addition, records expose the fact that more or less fifty percent of the US
population are in favor to legally authorize the gay marriage with equal rights that are provided to
couples of traditional marriages. The proponents have added various arguments to support their
perspectives that are based on civil rights of the gay community, medical grounds and so forth. While
on the other side of the spectrum, the opponents have also provided their basis for arguments of
disagreement on parenting concerns, religious concerns and many other intellectual perceptions
(Wolfson 2004). Even though laws of the US articulates that they do not permit discrimination,

He rationalizes that each eye produces the image of the object viewed in a different location, which
produces depth; though the problem with this phenomenon is that it is not producible through paint.
There is only one canvas for which the viewer to see, but they are looking at an image through two
eyes. Being able to get around this drawback of paint frustrated the man to no end. Ultimately, he
knew that there was no way around the fact that a painting could never be an exact copy of what the
eyes can see, but he never stopped trying to fake it as best he could. The device he came up with was
brilliant, and simple: to blur the objects in the background in order to give a lifelike focus on the
object which he wanted the viewer to look at. This had never been done before, as there was emphasis
on making sure every nuance of detail was correct. Leonardo understood that by looking at each
object in his field of view separately created a fake observation, since when he was actually focused
on one subject, his eyes could not focus on the area around them. With the desire to understand
proportion, there was a curiosity for geometry, and by learning the methods behind this math form,
Leonardo s work benefitted greatly. By collaborating on De divina proportione with mathematician

It has been observed that the company is violating the principle of control activity of segregation of
duties. The accountant is acting as the treasurer and controller. In this dual role, he purchases all of the
supplies and pays for these purchases. He also receives the checks and completes the monthly bank
reconciliation. Various frauds are possible when one person handles related activities. These duties
must be segregated to multiple personnel.
Use of the three principles of internal control segregation of record keeping from physical custody,
documentation and independent internal verification is recommended. This will deliver an effective
system of internal controls. Any attempt at fraudulent activity will be detected unless there is collusion
among the employees.
Internal controls over cash receipts should include:
(a) designating only personnel such as cashiers to handle cash;
(b) assigning the duties of receiving cash, recording cash, and having custody of cash to different
individuals;
(c) obtaining remittance advices for mail receipts, cash register tapes for over the counter receipts, and

only improve the position of their sex, but also improve society.
Wollstonecraft, and eventually Edgeworth, was determined to see women treated fairly, and not
merely as props. Her goal, as explained in A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, is perhaps the
largest influence on Edgeworth s texts, but also on other female

Ap Seminar Reflection
The grade that I think that I should receive for the first semester of AP Seminar is an A. I believe that I
should get an A for multiple reasons, such as I complete all my work, I have always given my full
effort throughout the class, and I work well in group scenarios. Throughout the first semester, I
consistently finish my assignments. While we were doing the practice PT1 I had finished the
individual research report and the drafts that went along with it on time. Additionally, I found and read
research to help myself prepare for the socratic seminar. During the course of the class I have
constantly completed my tasks to the best of my ability. The second day of school we were to prepare

systematically addressing the origin of the Gospel and the Epistles of the New Testament, their
content, characteristics, authorship, composition, and canonical significance, Takes on the difficult
undertaking of ensuring that the New Testament is accurately understood within what he perceives is
the correct historical setting. Berkhof primarily intended this book for his students at Calvin

In defending his point against those that deny that the gospel written by inspiration of God, Berkhof
flagrantly proclaims, Over against this position we hold that the Gospels were written by men who
were inspired by the Holy Spirit, and that they are therefore absolutely trustworthy and authoritative
accounts of the life of our Lord. To defend his position Berkhof list but a few passages from scriptures
that support his position. As for those that admit the inspiration of the Old Testament Prophets, but
deny that the Apostles were inspired because they did not use the expression Thus Saith the Lord or
did not observe the characteristic phenomena that accompanied the inspiration of the prophets,
Berkhof gives three points in distinguishing the inspiration of the prophets from the inspiration of the
Apostles. o In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit took possession of the Prophets sometime
suppressing their personality, while in the New Testament the Holy Spirit aboded in the Church and
first the Apostle using them as instruments to produce His revelation. o For the Old Testament
Prophets the Holy Spirit was an external Power that impelled them to prophesy. While

Thinkers of the Enlightenment Essay
Enlightenment
The Enlightenment era was a new intellectual movement that stressed reason and thought and the
power of individuals to solve problems. Even though different philosophers approached their goal
differently, they achieved it none the less. They all approached their goal differently due to their
different upbringings, their different backgrounds, and most importantly their different environments.
A few among the many enlightened thinkers were Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Baron Do
Montesquieu, and Jean Jacques Rousseau. While some of their idea s are not used in modern society,
they were all instrumental to the modern society we live in today.

Without him we might have strayed to an absolute dictatorship the likes of which was suggested by
Thomas Hobbes.
Enlightenment thinkers challenged authority by speaking their mind to say the very least. They spoke
their mind, instigated riots, and told people to change their own government. The fact that they
preached their mind alone without regard of consequence is enough evidence that they challenged
authority. Although many individuals were persecuted and intimidated into keeping quiet, they were
not scarred by their respective governments and it is for that reason that we enjoy the fruits of their
labor. Had they not endeavored so, and had they trembled in the face of adversity, we might be living
in a country without any centralized government at all.
Despite the fact that there were countless enlightenment thinkers, there are still many identifiable
similarities between various of them. For example Thomas Hobbes and Jean Jacques Rousseau both
believed in the need for a social contract, and in individualism. They both disagreed on how to go
about these things. Thomas Hobbes described an absolute monarchy with limited rights. Jean Jacques
Rousseau on the other hand described an democracy with unalienable rights. These two thinkers are a
perfect example who thought of different ideals, practiced them in different ways, but nonetheless
helped shape the world we live in today.

Summary Of How To Paint A Water Lily By Ted Hughes
Ted hughes uses literary techniques in the most vivid way, to illustrate what his idea of a water lily
painting looked like. In all of his works, the goal is to describe a task or a thing, but make the reader
understand it by using nature as the key. The task in this poem is presented by the title How To Paint A
Water Lily . The reason he wrote this poem, was to describe nature by decorating the spirit of the
environment around the lily. The two literary techniques that will be discussed in this paper are
imagery and alliteration.
Ted Hughes is using his words to inform the painter in a way that describes everything else but the
lily. The painter is on a mission to create a painted depiction of a water lily in a pond. Ted Hughes is
very fond of nature as he mentions various aspects of nature to create many images in our minds.
However, the main aspect of the poem is surprisingly not the flower; it was the dragonfly. The
dragonfly appears for the second time in stanza 3. First observe the air s dragonfly That eats meat, that
bullets by . The dragonfly is mentioned in stanzas 2 7 because of its role it plays on the environment.
The reader and the painter may wonder What does the dragonfly have to do with the water lily? but
Hughes shows us how important it is the more you read into the poem.
The first literary technique to be discussed is imagery. Imagery is a common literary technique found
in Ted Hughes poems. Imagery consists of very descriptive words that help readers visualize the work
better. While Ted is describing the environment around the lily, he describes the action of the
dragonflies as Rainbow their arcs, spark, or settle. which makes you visualize the dragonflies arching
their backs as if they were about to fly full speed, seeing a spark happen from the light reflecting off of
their shiny wings. The part about settle is about how the dragonflies probably fly away or land on the
lily when they are done fighting. The details that were just described were not stated in the poem, it s
just what was visualized after reading these words. There are many other examples of imagery in the
poem. The first stanza says A green level of lily leaves Roofs the pond s chamber and paves The flies

The Last Boss Of New York
The Last Boss of New York It was beautiful day with a slight breeze that cooled you each time it
passed. My father, Tony Di Marco and I, were taking a stroll around the gardens of our family s
compound in Staten Island, in New York City. My father wearing his usual black tuxedo dinner jacket
with the buttons open and Boutonnière with a red rose, underneath was his black waistcoat with the
button closed, underneath that was his white Shirt and topped off with a black bow tie. His hair was
combed back as far as possible it was short and coloured black with sort off grey streaks which
showed his age. He was built like a house, with his broad shoulders, his body was big and powerful
looking but no wonder because after all he did like the rich food and always had a glass of wine to
wash it down. Facially the feature most remembered after first glance was his cheeks, they sagged
down to about his jaw line, this made his accent powerful as every time he spoke it sounded like he
was questioning what you had said. He had a moustache and it was the length of his top lip, it was as
if it was somebody s eyebrow it was that thin. He walked with grace and power as if he was
untouchable. We walked to the gates and decide to take the stroll further. He told the security guard
who was manning the gates to Open the gates he then slipped the guard a $20 dollars. I loved the way
he did this as it was a sign of power and respect. We walked for a while talking about what would

The Islamic Faith Sufism Essay
Islam, as a religion, is divided into two different sects, Sunni and Shi i. These divisions have their own
separate values and rituals that create an unconquerable schism between them. The gap, however, is
somewhat bridged by a twist on the Islamic faith known as Sufism. The mystic ways of the Sufi
society make it very appealing to both Sunnis and Shiites, not to mention the newcomers to the
Islamic faith. Sufism uses the quality of unification and the quality of appeal to make it one of the
strongest aspects of Islam.
Sufism was founded on the belief that Muslims could obtain a one on one ; relationship with God
through mystical practices. Mysticism is defined as a particular method of approach to Reality making

The Master proceeds to stand in the midst of this chanting, and he is followed by the circle of devotees
around him. The entire group then begins to chant very loudly while they jump, clap, sway, or bounce.
At the end of this two hour session, the Master gives some verbal command, which causes the
devotees to stop their chanting while the choir drops to a very low tone, and the ceremony comes to an
end. The Sufis believe that this type of worship will bring them to ecstasy, thereby shortening the
distance between God and themselves.
Sufis also believe that the ecstasy for which they strive can only be reached by a Pure Love ; for the
Beloved ; or God. Sufis believe that their God is omniscient and omnipotent. They hold faith in his
ability to give and take away. Their God has the undeniable ability to do anything and everything that
he wills. Their strength comes from the Beloved, and they strive solely for the right to be one with the
Beloved. The end of the Path come when the mystic soul is rapt up into union with the Divine and the
soul becomes one with God ; in much the same manner as the drop subsists when it is merged in the
ocean amp;#8230;for the part has returned to become one with the Whole. ;
The Sufis have one particular story, which shows this deep infatuation with the Beloved. The story
speaks of a man who is asked where he is going, where he comes from, what he desires, etc. His
replies always contain the word Beloved (i.e. From the

Islamic Law and Wine Industry
The Islamic law persisted even after the riot, when a political group called Al Nahda won with 41% of
the seats voted that the main source of legislation is Islam (Sabek, 2013). Because Islamic law prohibit
the trading/consumption of alcohol, many consumers tend to go to the hotels or the black market just
to buy wine (Euro Monitor, 2013). In addition, Tunisia wine experts declared that the sales of wine
have decline in the period between 2008 and 2012, and it will keep on falling for the upcoming few
year, due to some farmers no longer want to work and produce grapes for wine for religious reasons,
as well as the cost price has increased and a continuant decrease in the wine grapes price compared to
the other similar products does not cover the cost (Market Research, 2013).

  • 2. The Searchers The Searchers is an accurate representation of the Americanized west as defined by ... Two years after Ethan s participation in the Civil War in favor of the Confederacy, he returns to visit his family who has migrated westward. His family consists of his brother and his wife, their two daughters, and two sons whom one of which is adopted. Ethan bears gifts for his family such as the saber he gave to Ben and the medal that he gave to Debbie, when she requested a necklace similar to the one that was given to her sister. Within a week of his return they are visited by the ranger and preacher, Samuel Johnson, who is fairly surprised by the return of Ethan, who proceeds to challenge his authority and nullifies Martin s oath to becoming a ranger. ... But, there is something unusual about the scene, the cattle have been untouched after being killed which is unlikely, due to the natives belief that nothing should be wasted and everything having use. After completing the task at hand Ethan and Martin return home, only to discover it in ruins and within the ruins Ethan discovers the mutilated bodies of all of his family excluding his two nieces. Thereafter, providing a proper burial for his family, Ethan, Martin, and some others begin their journey of retribution and hatred for the natives as they search for the remaining survivors of their family. Ethan s developed hatred for the Native Americans is displayed when he fires his gun at the eyes of a corpse and then says that according to native belief once one loses his sight they will forever roam the spirit world ceaselessly. This is especially monstrous as one understands that he is not limited to destruction and hatred on a physical level, but is willing to spiritually violate members of the native american race. The proceedings in this film are extremely biased as many characters have assumed the native american people to be savages. Even the reason for Ethan s hate is highly unlikely due to ... There is no cure for Polio however there is a vaccine which contains a mixture of live and weakened strains of the three types of polio; Bulbar polio, spinal polio and bulbospinal polio. Poliomyelitis is an aggressive virus which is able to pass through the three line of defence. It is passed through the first line by the faecal/oral route and enters the bloodstream. It invades the T and B cells which are activated in the innate immune system and is fought by the antibodies in the stage of the Adaptive immune system, where symptoms are already exposed. In order to eradicate Polio more accessible treatment in developing countries as well as better sanitation is needed. Poliomyelitis, or Polio is a highly contagious disease caused by the Polio virus, which can affect the spinal cord and brainstem. Although 90 95 % of who are acutely affected by Polio are Asymptomatic, 5 10% experience mild symptoms such as a head ache, fever, fatigue, throat pain and stomach pain and 0.5 % experience muscle symptoms such as muscle weakness, muscle spasming/twitching, loss of muscle tone and complete loss of movement in muscles. If the virus makes it s way into the brain or spinal cord it can cause paralysis and even death. • 4. Examples Of How Democratic Was Andrew Jackson Dbq How Democratic Was Andrew Jackson? Democracy is defined as the people having a say in the government, whether it be through representatives or directly. When answering the question How Democratic Was Andrew Jackson? , I would say that Andrew Jackson was the embodiment of democracy when it came to the people having a say. During his presidential campaign in 1828 Andrew Jackson s campaign motto was Let the people have a say! Jackson believed that rich and powerful people got away with bending the acts of the government to get what they wanted, as shown in document 4. In this document he told Congress .It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their selfish purposes. Document 6 show a perfect example of just how democratic President Jackson was. One of the first things he did when he was elected into office was present the idea to congress that any government elected job be limited to a four year term. I submit, therefore, to your consideration...(a) law which limits appointments to four years. Kesey also developed an interest in theatre at the University of Oregon at this time, but a scholarship for his accomplishments in wrestling deterred him from pursuing an acting career. After marrying Norma Faye Haxby, Kesey s high school girlfriend, he considered a career as an actor once more, but instead he won a scholarship to the graduate program in writing at Stanford University (A E Networks Television, 23 Mar. 2016) and enrolled there in 1958 (Public Broadcasting Service, n.d.). Another one of their plans was taking over a jetliner and crashing it into a building across the country in New York city. • 8. The Complex Adaptive System Of A Healthcare Organization The key to the success of a healthcare organization is defined by the many qualities and attributes its leaders possess when overseeing patient care. Such care, whether executed at the micro, meso, or macro level, can be beneficial to an organization, or results in the failure when change is inappropriately addressed. A strong leader is one who can manage change, and direct care throughout all the numerous levels of an organization by utilizing values that are a reflection of the bureaucratic thoughts and principles, or the complex adaptive system. The complex adaptive system is a comprehensive system that is complicated in nature and often can cause chaos and the failure of an organization when change is not properly managed. During my professional career, I have observed many styles of management skills and found this to work both against an organization and as well as, prove beneficial when handling change. The overall success of any organization is dependent upon the quality attributes of its leaders. I believe the complex adaptive method is a control method that forces the good employees away. A prime example of this style of management was observed with the launching of computerizing charting. Computers, as you are familiar with can be challenging, and as well as, they can create havoc which can be devastating for some. • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Wireless Connections Our society is becoming more and more reliant on wireless connections. The ability for both employees and consumers to connect wirelessly is a must in this day and age for businesses. Because of this, strict security policies must be put in place in order to keep the business and its data secure. This paper will discuss the pros and cons of wireless connections, the need for authentication and six top threats that companies should be aware of and how to prevent them. It seems that everything is wireless nowadays. Nobody wants cords to drag them down and keep them in a specific location anymore and it s easy to see why. Convenience, simple as that. No need to carry those pesky Ethernet cable around anymore or be confined to a single area to connect to the network. Even though wireless has become more and more popular, there is still the need for large businesses to take a look at the pros and cons. From a business point of view, some of the best pros of a wireless network according to American EHR are the ease of installation, mobility and cost. Setting up a wireless connection is relatively simple and takes much less time than a wired network. The ease of mobility is a plus as well. Employees can bring their laptops to the conference room and access the network without the need of wires. A big benefit is the low cost of wireless and that will often times make any CEO s ears perk if they hear the phrase save money. These are just a few of the positives of a wireless ... (Love Lattimore, 2009, 71 74) With an increase in GDP, developing countries would be able to shift resources from a subsistence level of inputs into agriculture towards infrastructure and education. Agricultural producers in undeveloped countries currently use low technology and high labour methods. As the undeveloped countries are able to advance in technology and knowledge, they would be able to move their production possibilities toward meeting worldwide demands. Undeveloped countries typically are producing for their own survival and little for foreign export, as production becomes more efficient and surplus is gained, then farmers would be able to export the excess to the world market. Smith points to the case of African cotton and its US production to show where subsidies hurt both productivity and trade. The United States cotton producers are subsidized by the government and this has depressed the prices worldwide by approximately a quarter which costs West African countries $200 million in lost foreign exchange. Over 11 million people rely on cotton for their income but with US subsidies in place it reduces the price and therefore income received. Most studies predict personality from the language used by a person to update status or chat in social network. According to recent works based on study of function words such as pronouns, conjunctions, articles and prepositions, the elderly use more future tense words and pronouns in their plural forms. The same studies show that males use more articles and females make heavy use of first person singular pronouns. In [7], the authors state that even with its challenges, text categorization is a reliable approach to identify the age and gender of people in social network communication. Goldbeck et al., in [3], show that people of different age groups talked about different topics. For example, those within the age group of 13 to 18 mostly discussed activities related to school, 19 to 22 year olds talked about university/college. Hamilton was appointed the first Secretary of Treasurer and Jefferson was the first Secretary of State. Jefferson was the older man of the two with twelve years being born on 1743, in Virgina to a wealthy family, while Hamilton was born on 1755 in the West Indies to a poor family. Jefferson had the best education the colonies could offer due to his family s status as wealthy planters and slave owners giving Jefferson plenty of opportunities to be successful himself. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jefferson believes the constitution protected the right of the people and for independence both Hamilton and Jefferson had opposing views. Jefferson argues that independence comes from land ownership and if all the people can have an agrarian lifestyle. The idea mostly comes from how he was born into a rich family and his father and himself were planters. Therefore he believed that if the people are living fine independent lives where members of society can make their own food and live on their own property the country as a collective will be independent as well. Hamilton disagreed and believed the opposite that if the nation is independent than the people will have independence. For this belief he wanted to start trade with other countries and in order to do that he thought America had to start manufacturing and creating its own goods to trade with other countries. Hamilton s point is stating how if the society wants people to make products that can be traded with other countries, then it can open job opportunities for the citizens. Therefore the country will have independence by creating their own goods for profit and the people will have independence by finding a job and being able to pay for their food leading to their independence. Jefferson argued against this stating that if we got to war with the countries that were trading with what happens then. Later on, after Hamilton s death and during Jefferson s ... • 14. Rhetorical Analysis Of While We Sleep Since the beginning of time, those not classified as men have faced many struggles. This wide group ranges anywhere from children to women. The working boom in America is one of many factors that is accountable for the limitations these groups face. These powerless groups did not have enough voice, originally, to demand equal treatment under the law and society. Therefore, many reform groups arose during American history to encourage society to call to action the freedom we all enjoy and protect today. In her speech given before the National American Women Suffrage Association in Philadelphia, Florence Kelly utilizes anaphora, rhetorical questions, an empathetic yet sarcastic tone, and selection of detail to emphasize unfairness in working conditions for children and to encourage her audience to take feminist action. Kelly effectively uses anaphora throughout her speech with the purpose of getting her audience to bring about change. The repetition of the phrase While we sleep stresses the unethical conditions these voiceless children had to face. Every time this phrase is stated, it builds up her impact and works the audience towards her advantage. Kelly appeals to her audience s empathetic emotions and moral values by utilizing the importance of sleep. Her listeners understand the vitality of sleep, thus stressing that these children lack this, brings her a huge step forward. She forces her audience to face the sad reality that they peacefully sleep, as young children ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Accuracy of Bayley Scores as Outcome Measures in Trials of... Introduction Long term follow up of high risk preterm infants has become increasingly important as the proportion of infants surviving has increased steadily over the past several decades. It is well known that these infants are at increased risk of cognitive impairment. (Class) With this increase in at risk survivors, many clinical research questions arise that can only be answered by long term follow up studies. (Vohr, Teune) Clinical trials that examine common perinatal therapies should also include a long term follow up component in their research to examine later neurodevelopmental outcomes in their cohorts. Although there is no prescribed protocol dictating which specific neurodevelopmental tests are to be completed during follow up, the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development and all its revisions, is the most widely used test to assess neurodevelopment of very preterm infants in the first three years of life (Luttikhuizen) and is a common outcome measure used in clinical research trials. Standardized developmental assessments such as the Bayley that are used in a pediatric clinical trial setting as primary outcome measures need to be reliably administered and scored. Trained test administrators and scorers are generally careful that the tests they are administering are conducted and scored correctly. However, given the range of numerical calculations and transcriptions required in scoring the results of these tests, there is always a chance that errors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since it is such a widespread religion there are many types of interpretations that can be developed based off the words and teachings of the Bible. Most commonly we have the normative view of Christianity. The normative view can most basically be understood as the highly shared teachings of churches. Another type of interpretation that encompasses all beliefs that are not compliant with the normative view is called esoteric. Here we will compare the interpretations of Daskalos, the Great Teacher of Cypress, and his Researchers of Truth against the normative view of Christianity as understood by both Catholics and Protestants. In order to further investigate the differences between Daskalos esoteric beliefs and normative beliefs we must understand fully what esoteric and normative truly mean. A few beliefs of normative Christianity, as explained by Moreman, are as follows: the belief in judgement after death. There are only 2 places to go, hell or heaven and that may or may not be after a slight stop in purgatory, the intermediate state of being right after death where souls await resurrection (Moreman, 62). When the resurrection happens, people will be resurrected in their physical bodies, thanks to interpretations by St. Augustine of Hippo (Moreman, 62). Those souls or people that are evil will spend eternity in hell in fiery damnation (Moreman, 63). The beliefs of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2010), over the last few decades universities in many countries have been increasing the amount of feedback they gather from their students due to the increased importance of maintaining high standards in higher education. A high calibre of students combined with a vast number of higher education institutions to choose from, means that there is more motivation for such institutions to aim for a quality of learning higher than in previous years and superior to perceived competitors. This involves monitoring lecturers as employees in order to support appraisals and reviews, as well as providing students with evidence to base their choice of institution on. The Use Of Modern Plastic Surgery And Cosmetic Surgery Introduction Throughout the twentieth century, the use of modern plastic surgery has evolved from a procedure used to provide treatment for disfiguring facial of the soldiers during WWI into a slave of modern beauty culture, more commonly known as cosmetic surgery (Gillies H, 1920). Although, the term plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery are used interchangeably, they are intrinsically different. On one hand, cosmetic surgery aims to enhance a patient s appearance, which can be performed in all areas such as breasts, nose of body shape. Plastic surgery, on the other, aims to reconstruct facial and body defects such as burns, which are critical to their rehabilitation. (American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, 2016). Despite the optimistic view of such invention, some serious criticisms have been raised regarding the side effects of the patients undergoing a cosmetic surgery. Whilst both academics and publics have long debated on this matter, there is still a significant lack of literature which emphasizes specifically on young people despite the increasing figure of teenagers undergoing cosmetic surgery. For this reason, my research papers aim to focus specifically on the perspectives of international students in the UK on the procedure of cosmetic surgery. Present location is Museum of Modern Art, New York. This is rectangular piece, the size of 65.1 x 54.9 cm. Looking from a distance, painting has a uniform color spectrum. Artist uses mostly warm earth tone palette: beige, grey, yellow and burnt umber, with black for creating outline of the forms, and occasional multicolored patches for additional accents. There is no visible source of light, however lighter areas of the painting are focused in the center, while more contrast and darker areas tend to be around the middle section. From a distance, brushstrokes look more unified, but when looking up closer, we can notice that artist, while blending colors, uses distinctive strokes. So even blended, colors create some visual texture. There is no noticeable degree of perspective or depth, painting looks rather flat. Painting is done in cubist manner. The whole image is fragmented, with each fragment having a geometrical shape. There are thick dark lines that divide each fragment one from another, so image looks broken in pieces. This irrepressible feeling of being in love is the result of a biochemical cocktail (course companion). Evolutionary explanations suggest that human sexual behaviour is based off the need to optimise the prospective of reproduction, and is driven by securing the best genetic combination for offspring as well as the maximisation of parental care after child birth. During menstruation, females tend to worry that their partners will seek out another mate, whereas during ovulation they may fear that their partner will form an alternative emotional attachment to another possible mate, as the jeopardisation of the security of her child causes anxiety. Chaucer overly satirizes the Miller s profession in order to manipulate the genre of estate satire to hopefully spark public discourse. For Chaucer s purposes, estate satire illustrates hierarchical divisions and social function and morality of each character type. Da Vinci a Man of Math Leonardo Da Vinci, Man of Math Ask any given person who the most famous artist during the Renaissance was and the result would be nearly unanimous in the answer of Leonardo Da Vinci . But why is that? Yes, there is the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper to his name, but his legacy has extended beyond the world of paint and into other modern popular realms: of best selling books (The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown) and even world renowned video games (Assassin s Creed II). For each reproduction of his character, the modern world seems to want more of Leonardo. His ability to wield a paintbrush is undeniable, but other artists from this time could arguably be his equal, or perhaps even better in skill; so the question remains: why is it that these ... He rationalizes that each eye produces the image of the object viewed in a different location, which produces depth; though the problem with this phenomenon is that it is not producible through paint. There is only one canvas for which the viewer to see, but they are looking at an image through two eyes. Being able to get around this drawback of paint frustrated the man to no end. Ultimately, he knew that there was no way around the fact that a painting could never be an exact copy of what the eyes can see, but he never stopped trying to fake it as best he could. The device he came up with was brilliant, and simple: to blur the objects in the background in order to give a lifelike focus on the object which he wanted the viewer to look at. This had never been done before, as there was emphasis on making sure every nuance of detail was correct. Leonardo understood that by looking at each object in his field of view separately created a fake observation, since when he was actually focused on one subject, his eyes could not focus on the area around them. With the desire to understand proportion, there was a curiosity for geometry, and by learning the methods behind this math form, Leonardo s work benefitted greatly. By collaborating on De divina proportione with mathematician Fra Luca Pacioli when he was younger, we are able to infer that Leonardo held an interest in furthering his knowledge of math for his personal ... Various frauds are possible when one person handles related activities. These duties must be segregated to multiple personnel. Use of the three principles of internal control segregation of record keeping from physical custody, documentation and independent internal verification is recommended. This will deliver an effective system of internal controls. Any attempt at fraudulent activity will be detected unless there is collusion among the employees. Without him we might have strayed to an absolute dictatorship the likes of which was suggested by Thomas Hobbes. Enlightenment thinkers challenged authority by speaking their mind to say the very least. They spoke their mind, instigated riots, and told people to change their own government. The fact that they preached their mind alone without regard of consequence is enough evidence that they challenged authority. Although many individuals were persecuted and intimidated into keeping quiet, they were not scarred by their respective governments and it is for that reason that we enjoy the fruits of their labor. Had they not endeavored so, and had they trembled in the face of adversity, we might be living in a country without any centralized government at all. Despite the fact that there were countless enlightenment thinkers, there are still many identifiable similarities between various of them. For example Thomas Hobbes and Jean Jacques Rousseau both believed in the need for a social contract, and in individualism. They both disagreed on how to go about these things. Thomas Hobbes described an absolute monarchy with limited rights. Jean Jacques Rousseau on the other hand described an democracy with unalienable rights. • 48. Summary Of How To Paint A Water Lily By Ted Hughes Ted hughes uses literary techniques in the most vivid way, to illustrate what his idea of a water lily painting looked like. In all of his works, the goal is to describe a task or a thing, but make the reader understand it by using nature as the key. The task in this poem is presented by the title How To Paint A Water Lily . The reason he wrote this poem, was to describe nature by decorating the spirit of the environment around the lily. The two literary techniques that will be discussed in this paper are imagery and alliteration. Ted Hughes is using his words to inform the painter in a way that describes everything else but the lily. The painter is on a mission to create a painted depiction of a water lily in a pond. Ted Hughes is very fond of nature as he mentions various aspects of nature to create many images in our minds. However, the main aspect of the poem is surprisingly not the flower; it was the dragonfly. The dragonfly appears for the second time in stanza 3. First observe the air s dragonfly That eats meat, that bullets by . The dragonfly is mentioned in stanzas 2 7 because of its role it plays on the environment. The reader and the painter may wonder What does the dragonfly have to do with the water lily? but Hughes shows us how important it is the more you read into the poem. The first literary technique to be discussed is imagery. Imagery is a common literary technique found in Ted Hughes poems. Imagery consists of very descriptive words that help readers visualize the work better. While Ted is describing the environment around the lily, he describes the action of the dragonflies as Rainbow their arcs, spark, or settle. which makes you visualize the dragonflies arching their backs as if they were about to fly full speed, seeing a spark happen from the light reflecting off of their shiny wings. The part about settle is about how the dragonflies probably fly away or land on the lily when they are done fighting. The details that were just described were not stated in the poem, it s just what was visualized after reading these words. There are many other examples of imagery in the poem.
