Honda Pilot Commercial Analysis Essay
The Sing A Long
In the 2012 Honda Pilot commercial, the viewer will automatically notice that this car is a total
family based car. In the commercial a family of eight is shown traveling on what seemed to be a
very long and exhausting car ride, heading to a vacation spot of some sort. With six kids in the
back, the viewer wouldn t imagine a quiet car ride, luckily the teen in the back row of the car
changed that. The boy started making a beat with his mouth that was very familiar to not just him
but to his sister as well, who continued to make another beat with him that was not just familiar to
them, but to there whole family. Once everyone in the car had figured out the song, one of the
daughters sitting by the window had started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The setting in the commercial is very important because the Honda Pilot was made for bigger
families that like to travel. The setting in this commercial was on a road in what looked like the
middle of nowhere. There were tons of dirt hills as they drove past that almost look like
mountains Which could be one of the reason why the windows were down in the Honda Pilot. In
the Honda Pilot not just the driver and the passenger side window roll down, but the back
middle roll down as well. With mountains being there, it helps the Pilot show off that feature
which can partly convince the buyer to purchase the Honda. The viewer will also notice the
dullness of colors being used in the commercial. When watching the commercial the viewer will
notice that the mountains, and the sky outside of the Honda Pilot are a very dull yellow and
brown color. The point of that is to show how boring life is outside of the Pilot. The dullness of
the colors outside of the vehicle make the vehicle come off as a shiny new item that the viewer
needs for his/her family, but the colors on the inside play a big role to the commercial as well.
The interior of the Honda Pilot can be described as soft and plush material, as well as smooth and
warm. The Honda Pilot was made for families so the impotence of how well the interior was
contrasted with the outside of the car was very

Themes Of The Time Machine
Once in my basketball game, my team was losing by many points. However, we never gave up
and started to make a comeback. The crowd was getting louder as the final seconds approached.
There was 2 seconds left, and Julien Flores shot the ball. Swoosh. We had won the game because
we never gave up. Persevering through obstacles is the major theme in H.G. Wells novel titled, The
Time Machine. This novel is about a time traveler who traveled far into the future and encountered
strange humanoid creatures. The world was very different and another species called the Morlocks
had stolen his Time Machine. The Time Traveler persevered through this and he eventually got his
Time Machine back and he travelled back home.
An example of the main theme in The Time Machine being how you should persevere through
obstacles is found on page 104 and H.G. Wells states, So I came back. For a long time I must
have been insensible upon the machine. This evidence show show the main theme of the Time
Machine is that you should never give up because the Time Traveler has been trying to get home
for a long time and he never gave up. He was eventually able to get home and this shows how
since the time traveler was able to get home because he persevered, the main theme in the novel
is that you should never give up. Another piece of evidence that H.G. Wells includes is on page 1
and it states, There I object, said Filby. Of course a solid body may exist. All real things This
evidence shows how the

The Death Toll Of Haiti
It was typical late afternoon in Haiti capital of Port au Prince. People were strolling the streets,
and local vendors were selling various goods at the Port au Prince historic Iron Market. Then at
4:53 pm on January 12, 2010 a 7.0 magnitude hit Haiti. Haiti had not seen a major earthquake like
this in almost 200 years. People scrambled through the streets as the ground roared knocking down
huge stone and brick building onto the streets of Port au Prince. An eyewitness describes the
moment that the earthquakehit, The earth screamed; a sound of thunder that came from its belly
as it violently shook the plants, the car, the walls, the pavement that I stood on. I called out to
everyone to walk out of the house quickly. It seemed like a long, long time. Then silence. Then
screams from some of the residents of the rural neighborhood (Clesca, 2010). This would be one
of the deadliest earthquake of our generation. The estimated death toll was 316,000 deaths, and
over 3 million people were displaced by the earthquake. Many people died when their dwelling
collapsed and they were trapped under the rumble. People also died from falling objects, such as
large building materials. This earthquake will ultimately change the structured of Haiti and leave
many residents asking, who is responsible for the huge loss of life? As I have mention above, Haiti
has not been hit by a major earthquake since the 18th century. Geologists first believed that
Caribbean tectonic plates were responsible

Marijuana As A Medicine Essay
If your every waking moment was consumed by pain and nausea, wouldn t you ask for
medication? What if the only medication legally available would leave you unconscious or do
nothing at all? If you were the one suffering, would you resort to the only treatment that allowed
you to live normally even though it was illegal? Thousands of people across the country are forced
to break the law to easetheir pain. They have chosen marijuana over anything legally available
because it has various medicinal properties that cannot be found anywhere else. Due to these many
unique medicinal uses, marijuana shouldbe reclassified as a valid, legal form of treatment.

Marijuana as a form of treatment has gained support from the medical community. Such prestigious
medical publications as the New England Medical
Journal have come out in support of medicinal uses for marijuana (Milwaukee
Journal Sentinel 1/30/97 3A). In addition to that, a Harvard study showed that nearly 44% of
doctors who treat cancer patients in the American Medical
Association, a group officially opposed to marijuana, have actually recommended marijuana to ease
the pain of their patients ( Medical Marijuana 22). Even with this support, the federal government
has refused any sort of clinical testing or reclassifying.
Because of its medicinal value and the lack of an effective substitute, marijuana should be
reclassified as a Schedule II drug instead of a Schedule I drug, which would allow it for certain
medical uses. Other illegal drugs such as cocaine and heroin are classified as Schedule II, even
though they are considered habit forming and dangerous, where marijuana, classified as a

Social Work Career As A Social Worker
Social Work Career
If you are an individual who seeks to promote human well being and have an intense desire to
help others, you might consider pursuing a career in social work. Social work is a practice based
profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social
cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people (International Federation of Social
Workers, 2014, para. 2). Social workers identify those who need help, examine their situations and
develop plans to resolve their issues. They help individuals cope with issues such as substance
abuse, finance, and personal relationships. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, advocacy is
an important aspect of social work. Social workers advocate or raise awareness with and on behalf
of their clients and the social work profession on local, state, and national levels (Bureau of Labor
Statistics, 2015, para. 6). There are many different practices and approaches considered by the
practitioner to determine an applicable approach towards intervention. Another variation of a
social worker, (known as a clinical social worker) may also diagnose and treat people with mental,
behavioral, and emotional issues. There are numerous career paths in social work, providing a
broad range of opportunities and environments. Although all social workers espouse the common
goal of helping others, professionals have the opportunity to specialize their services and focus on

How The Aztecs Build Reputation
The Aztecs built reputation in history. First of all the spanish claimed there sword could chop off

REFRACTING CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE S AMERICANAH THROUGH A POST
COLONIAL PRISM
1. Introduction
Respected Marxist critic Frederic Jameson once described every instance of third world literature
as necessarily nationally allegorical (69), an assertion spectacularly assailed by Aijaz Ahmad (77
82).
But it is possible to close our eyes to Ahmad s very valid misgivings and take a bird s eye view of
Jameson s assertion: read in reaction to the phenomenon of imperialism, perhaps the literature of
dominated peoples is the literature of self assertion, however blind to Jameson s national allegorical
(or anticolonial) imperative, and however hybrid . That last expression might as ... Show more

But first, I must situate Americanah in its post colonial moment.
2. Situating Americanah in the Post Colonial Moment
Since it is published in 2013, the material reality of Americanah is conditioned, however distantly it
seems now, by the phenomenon of colonialism it is written in English, for instance. Although
published in 2013, the temporality and spatiality of Americanah s narrative extends backwards to
the late 70s when its major protagonist, Ifemelu, was born. As a child, she witnesses the death by
firing squad of that famous robbery kingpin, Lawrence Anini (148), and lives through coups, coups
attempts, strikes and the usual brand of public dysfunction that still haunts Nigeria, therefore
linking its post coloniality with that decidedly African brand of introverted, introspective post
independence post coloniality of disillusionment exemplified by novels such as Ayi Kwei Armah s
The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born, Chinua Achebe s No Longer at Ease and Anthills of the
Savannah, and soon enough with the post coloniality of globalization (and the neoliberal ideology
that has hijacked it). As we see in the novel, this disillusionment is the animus of her exile. Ifemelu
arrives America in 1997, the year in which Kudirat Abiola, activist wife of M.K.O Abiola, was
killed (116). Here, Americanah s post coloniality takes a new turn. This new turn, inaugurated by

Bitcoin s Impact On The World
Since Bitcoin s arrival online in 2009 cryptocurrencies have become immensely popular throughout
the world. This paper will examine how the various cryptocurrencies come into being and how
their creators utilize them for their businesses. With Bitcoin s meteroric rise at the beginning of
2013 a large number of competing currencies have been developed with some targeting specific
niches to dominate while others have been formed to simply imitate Bitcoin. The most ambitious
cryptocurrencies have aimed to not only imitate Bitcoin s success but to completely displace its
status as the gold standard of the cryptocurrency world. These various cryptocurrencies will be

Bitcoin was developed by multiple individuals with Satoshi Nakamoto being most often credited
due to his publication of the first Bitcoin specification proof of concept in 2009 (bitcoin.org).
Bitcoin is highly decentralized and as such the Bitcoin network is not owned by any one person
but is controlled by all Bitcoin users. The cryptocurrencies that followed have tried in various
ways to implement their predecessors success; these are referred to as altcoins. Altcoin is the
name given to all cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin, essentially all altcoins are cryptocurrencies but
not all cryptocurrencies are altcoins. Cryptocurrencies are generated by mining which involves
utilizing processing power to work through the algorithms used in the coin causing blocks to be
released. These blocks contain a set number of coins as a reward for working through the
algorithm. One of the main difference between national currencies and digital currencies such as
bitcoin is that national currencies can be produced in limitless numbers whereas cryptocurrencies
have set amounts. For instance Bitcoin is limited to 21 million coins, which means that
eventually they will all be mined out. This happens over very long periods of time however as
the more algorithms are solved and blocks released the rewards get increasingly small. Subsequent
blocks contain fewer and fewer coins and tend to halve of a certain

The Gap Between Aboriginal And Torres
Theory assessment 1. I plan to close the gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
people and between non Indigenous people by putting in place strategies that advocate cultural
inclusivity. The first strategies I would use would be would be to make people aware. Being
aware of the local aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander communality. Also being aware of their
local heritage. When the centre is aware of the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander community
and the issues they may have. The centre can work in partnership with the Aboriginal and Torrs
Straight island community to provide the best care for them. The next strategy I would use would
be to provide great communication skills. This is to provide and understanding of the Aboriginal
and Torres Straight Islander community. The best way to communicate is to be a good listener,
and being open when you communicate. I would also recommend these strategies when
communicating with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders: Treat everyone as an individual
Being with a relationship of trust Use of a mentor Use preferred local name for Indigenous people
Acknowledge country Be and active listener Seek more than one opinion Relationship first Use
eye contract in a culturally appropriate way Use silence positively Men s and women s business
Indigenous language Become skilled at difficult interactions For strategy number three, I would
make sure that the centre is accessible and inclusive. I would work

The Bronx Zoo, And The Botanical Gardens
When one thinks of the Bronx, we think of Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Zoo, and the Botanical
Gardens. But ultimately, many neglect the Bronx as the poorest county, with the highest dropout
rates, and unemployment rates in the State of New York. I spent the last five years trying to fix
some of these issues, working especially with children from the ages of nine to seventeen with a
nonprofit organization called CBALL. We aim to empower young leaders and prevent children
from falling victim to the criminal culture that plague the Bronx. A direct correlation exists between
the well being of the residents in the Bronx and the crimerates. For example, seven out of the
twenty New York Cityneighborhoods with high violent crime rates come from the Bronx. As a
future attorney, I would like to attack this problem legally. Therefore, I actively swapped my ride
along with Ben Cruz to intern with the Bronx Defenders. Do to their stellar reputation; I was
eager to see the Bronx Defender s approach towards helping the borough. Also, my experience of
that day impressed me and inspired me to one day potentially work for the Bronx Defenders.
The Bronx Defenders impressed me with their holistic approach and resembled the work I do with
nonprofits. While at the Bronx Defenders office, I got a firsthand look at their overarching
approach to criminal defense and their tremendous dedication to their clients. I shadowed Robyn

The Rights Of Fellow American Citizens
The Complacent Majority Students across the United States stand before the American flag

In fact, most Japanese American s recount this moment in history as a traumatic experience as
they were forced to leave their homes due to an unjust law. Attorney General Biddle as well as
former Secretary of War Henry Stimson, believed there was no reasons for mass evacuation
(Irons 41), and that [Americans] cannot discriminate among [citizens] on the ground of racial
origin (Irons 41). American s are raised to believe the founding fathers had the best interests of
all citizens, and the Constitution and Bill of Rights are guidelines for all branches of government.
In a 6 to 3 Supreme Court ruling against Hirabayashi, a new precedent was set that opposed the
guidelines of law. Although the prosecution had no legal grounds to convict Hirabayashi as anti
Japanese laws conflict with the laws of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, the Court s historic
malevolence against minorities (Irons 5) tends to rule in favor of injustice. Popular opinion was
that Hirabayashi s conviction was the result of government precautions during wartime. In reality,
radical opinions fueled the fears of Americans who unknowingly sacrificed their freedom for the
illusion of safety. Historic government feats are the basis for modern political ideology. American

Luke Aikins Research Paper
With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed
many heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42 year old
daredevil became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet
without a wingsuit or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less
than one third the size of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely.
The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States Parachute Association
(USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without a parachute. However, the
association had a change of heart just minutes before the event, which meant that Akins had no
backup during the historic leap. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Does Creon Fight In Antigone
I would not count any enemy of my country as a friend. In the play Antigone, written by
Sophocles, Antigone finds herself torn apart between divine law and state law. The play opens
up at the end of a war between Eteocles and Polyneices, sons of Oedipus and brothers of Antigone
and Ismene. These brothers, fighting for control of Thebes, kill each other, making Creon king of
Thebes. Creon, as king, gives an important speech to the citizens of Thebes, announcing that
Eteocles, who defended Thebes, will receive a proper burial, unlike his brother Polyneices, who
brought a foreign army against Thebes. This speech introduces the major conflict of divine law
versus state law. Furthermore, Creon cherishes order and loyalty above all else.... Show more

It is evident, through this argument, that there is dramatic foil between Ismene and Antigone.
Ismene is a typical woman of the Greek s society, accepting male dominance. She believes that a
man can do as he pleases, and a woman must not get in the way of his wishes. Antigone, on the
other hand, not only speaks her mind, but acts on her beliefs as well. In the end, she makes up her
own rules and assumes full responsibility for her actions. Although Creon has stated that the traitor
Polyneices must not be given proper burial, Antigone is the only one who speaks against this
decree and insists on the sacredness of family. Whereas Antigone sees no validity in a law that
disregards the duty family members owe one another, Creon s point of view it the total opposite.
Antigone calls attention to the difference between the divine law and human law. She doubts Creon
s authority. Creon represents the power of human law and of the human need for an orderly, stable
society. Between Antigone and Creon there is no compromise. They both find absolute truth in the
beliefs they stand up for. Antigone admits right from the start that she wants to carry out the burial
because it is a glorious action. Creon s pride is that of a tyrant, failing to take advice. They both
suffer from pride, which causes them to

The Three Reasons And Rationales For The Exclusionary Rule
The following are the three justifications and their rationales for the exclusionary rule:
Constitutional rights, judicial integrity and deterrence. Because of the Constitutional rights the
Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights wouldn t mean anything without the
exclusion. In regards to judicial integrity the courts shouldn t contribute in unconstitutional
behavior by approving it. To ensure deterrence in negative police conduct steps in prevention of
unconstitutional conduct by government officers are taken. The justification that the U.S.
Supreme Court uses today for the exclusionary rule is, The reasonable, good faith exception,
created by U.S. v. Leon (1984), allows the government to use evidence obtained from searches
based on unlawful search if officers honestly and reasonably believed they were lawful. The law
was created to prevent misconduct. The rule has no deterrent effect if officers believed they were
doing everything legitimately. There are six exceptions to the exclusionary rule, but I am going to
name five. They are: Collateral use, independent source, cross examination, attenuation of the taint
of constitutional conduct, and inevitable discovery. Whenever the use of evidence is obtained
illegally it is admissible in all non trial settings. This is Collateral use. Examples would be bail
hearings, preliminary hearings, grand jury proceedings, habeas corpus proceedings. The use of
illegally obtained evidence is used by the

a student that scored high on the stress test can do many things to lower their level of stress. First
off, when dealing with stress a student s physical well being and the attitude of that student need to
be improved. To start this, the student must think positive. Positive thinking not only decreases the
stress level in the body, but it also acts as a confidence builder. Making an effort to stop negative
thoughts and think more towards positive ones changes the total mindset of that student. Instead of
thinking negative thoughts about a test, the student needs to focus on doing well instead.

Difference Between Gloria Anzaldua s Borderlands And La...
In Gloria Anzaldua s Borderlands/La Frontera, she uses her own personal experiences growing
up and living near the border that separates the United States and Mexico. Anzaldua makes us
reexamine the purpose of a border and the negative effects that come with it. Since she lives
close to the border, she cannot completely identity herself as an American nor would she be able
to call herself Mexican. As a Chicana, she did not know where she belonged in society. The two
cultures she lived under put her in this constant state of transition. The struggles she faces
strongly resembles the ones that Piri Thomas faces in his novel Down These Mean Streets.
Despite the fact that Thomas was actually of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent, many people
failed to recognize him as such and saw him as an African American. In the first chapter of
Anzaldua s novel, she describes her homeland and what it means to live by the border. Borders
are set up to define the places that are safe and unsafe, to distinguish us from them. A border is a
dividing line, a narrow strip along a steep edge (25). The purpose of this boundary was for the
whites and those who align themselves with whites to feel safe and secured from the half breed or
multicultural people of the south (26). This separation creates this belief that one side is superior to
the other. When retelling the history of Mexicos colonization, Anzaldua recognizes how, the
Gringo, locked into the fiction of white superiority, seized complete political power, stripping
Indians and Mexicans of their land while their feet were still rooted in it (29). The Natives and the
Mexicans had control over the area way before the Europeans came but now their land was being
taken away. After losing the war to the United States, Mexico was compelled to give roughly half
of its territory to them; the area that is currently Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexicoand
Texas. Separated from Mexico, the Native Mexican Texan no longer looked toward Mexico as
home; the Southwest became our homeland once more (29). Once the area was controlled by the
U.S., the vast majority of its occupants looked with disarray as they could never again consider
Mexico as their home. This new border that the

Sociology and Perspective Essay
Sociology Family Page 1. Family A family is a set of people related by blood, marriage or some
other agreed upon relationship, or adoption, who share the primary responsibility for reproduction
and caring for members of society. (Schaefer, 2009) A family is considered a social institution.
This social institution is one that can be applied to all three sociological theories which are
functionalism, conflict, and interactionism. The first sociological theory is functionalism. A
functionalism perspective is a sociological approach that emphasizes the way in which the parts of
a society are structured to maintain its stability. (Schaefer, 2009) This simply means for in the
instance of a family that the family in a whole is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though all three of these perspectives have this one major characteristic in common they also
have some differences. For instance the functionalist perspective sees an unconscious smoothness
to how the family interacts with each other. It is like a well oiled machine that each piece is
important and without that one piece the machine will not work properly or at all. Functionalist
view these interactions as something that is positive and rarely have many conflicts to overcome.
While the conflict perspective seems to view consent struggles with many aspects of the family.
There is first the conflicts that fill the inside of the family. Those are the struggles a member has
with other members of the family for roles within the family. The other is the conflicts the family
has as a whole with other families. These are usually over status s such as power, money, housing,
political representation and etc. Families competing against other families to have more than the
other families. Basically they want to outdo and be more important than others. Interactionism
perspective is a mixture of both the other two perspectives. It is mircosociology and looks at
every action to see meaning in them. They tend to look really close at how one thing effects other
things. The best way to describe it is a cause and effect. Interactionism also looks at the
dramaturgical approach. The dramaturgical approach is when people are seen as theatrical

are they willing (or able) to expand and teach more students?) However, no matter how data were

Europe first and spread to south Australian during the early colonial and Victorian era. The gothic
revival style was point out by the emergence Gothic Revival movement happened in England at

Examples of Post Modernism in Play and Worker Drone Essay
Task 1, Topic 2: Two Examples of Post modernism ROUGH COPY In any situation foreign to the
character, anything and everything will be done to try to make sense of ones surroundings. The
importance of identifying the type of the movies shown in Worker Drone by Raju, S. (2010) and
Play by Kaplan and Zimmerman (2010) are vital to the understanding of not only the plot, but also
the common themes presented. For example, common themes in both movies were was the sense
of paranoia, a showcase of intertextuality and an ambiguous endings. All three common themes
make it clear that these movies are in fact postmodern films, despite the fact that there were also a
few common themes also found supporting a modernist and existentialist sense.... Show more

These films display ambiguous endings and leave the audience wondering as to what exactly
happened, and allows them to create their own version of the ending in their own heads. This
common theme displays a postmodern type of storytelling in both The Worker Drone and Play .
Another key postmodern theme that I believe was most apparent was the use of intertexting
themes in both The Worker Drone and Play . An example of such was used during Play when
the story is set inside a videogame in which the characters play as characters inside of the game
cartages. Also, while in The Worker Drone this theme is shown with the use of the Planet
Dogstar promo commercial that is played as a video inside of a movie. These examples of
intertexting are very apparent in both films and represents another aspect of postmodern themes.
Lastly, as related to the previous paragraph, most specifically the movie Play , the strange world
in which these characters live in create a sense of paranoia and has them begin to question their
reality. As mentioned, in the movie Play these characters find themselves in a strange video game
world in which they are unsure of who they even are (eg. Who am I? Where am I? ). Meanwhile,
in The Worker Drone the main characters have developed paranoia in which they believe they are
being monitored to the point in which they have nanochips implanted in their brains. In

Charlie Hebdo is a French satirical weekly magazine founded in 1970. It first started as a

Alternative Fuel Studies show that there is an increasing interest in alternative fuels for use in
vehicles (cars and trucks). Most substitute energies are sourced from reusable products. Some of
these alternative fuel products are produced domestically, and this reduces the United States

motivated by numerous factors. To begin with, substitute energies result to reduced vehicle

biofuel, which is based on vegetable oils or animal fats. It may also be produced from recycled
oils from restaurants after being used for cooking. This calls for engine conversion so that they

particulate substance, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons ) associated with the use of fossil fuels

more consumed as energy for cooking and heating and it automobiles it produces fewer emissions
than gasoline. Another substitute energy is hydrogen which is mixed with natural gas to create
substitute energy for vehicles designed with interior incineration locomotive capacities. Energy cell

from the 5th century BCE shows how some women were remembered for good deeds done and
not just their duties as homemakers. It also recognized the humane side of the Classical Greek

women to join schools of thought that expanded their freedom. Education became available for

Language In Human Communication
Language is a powerful tool that is integral in human communication. The human brain is hard
wired to be adept at understanding social cues and situations that change the way we choose to
communicate. These internal and external factors play into one another and ultimately determine
how we choose to correspond with others to achieve our ultimate goal relaying a message.
Although in many cases it is frowned upon to rely on slang to convey ideas, in some situations,
slang can be a reliable resource. By using his or her discretion and analyzing the situation, the
speaker must determine whether or not this dangerous, risk reward weapon should be used.
Internal factors will greatly contribute to the path a person takes in corresponding with others. The
way a person feels about his or her own subject matter, determines what attitude the message will
carry. This is known as tone. A speaker who is speaking on something he or she disagrees with
might possess an antagonistic tone, while someone who is passionate about their topic may be
upbeat. The tone of a message arbitrates what words will be used. This is called the style. Style is
the culmination of word choice, idea arrangement, and the overall message portrayed by the
grouping of words. For example, the antagonistic speakers, may use a great deal of dysphemistic
language and arrange their ideas in a way that will cause their audience to view the subject of their
speech in a negative light. On the other hand, the passionate

employs a range of poetic techniques to highlight the pain that love can create. On the other
hand, John Clare s poem titled First Love and Robert Burns s poem, A Red, Red Rose
contrastingly explore the theme of love as a positive to be celebrated. William Wordsworth s
poem titled Surprised by Joy is a sonnet which uses simile, personification, metaphor, emotive
language and a question to highlight the pain love can create. The poet uses the simile impatient
as the wind to emphasize the fact that life is like the wind, it comes and goes as it pleases. In
this case, the wind is used as a symbol for life . Silent tomb is a personification which shows that
his love, being his daughter, is dead and cannot respond to him. The metaphor have I been so

Grievous love is an emotive language which is used to show how much heartache and misery
love can bring us when it is lost. The question how could I forget thee? is used in this poem to
stress the importance of his memories of his deceased daughter which being the only thing that he
has of her. The poet successfully expresses his opinion on how much pain love can create through
his use of various poetic techniques. Similarly, William Blake s poem, The Sick Rose uses

Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
Considered one of American s foremost feminist authors, Kate Chopin addresses issues
challenging to the social and gender roles of the late 1800s. She celebrates women who seek their
own identity and focuses on individual journeys of self discovery. Her short story The Story of an
Hour has a unique structure in that it adheres to a realistic premise, yet contains a protagonist who
represents idealism. Faced with the news that her husband has died, Mrs. Mallard takes ownership
of her own emotions and strength to control her life. However, her emotional revelation emerges
only upon her husband s supposed death. Chopin juxtaposes physical death with emotional
freedom, suggesting actions and feelings are determined by social, psychological, and emotional
forces instead of individual will. In order to show the fragility of Mrs. Mallard and her idealism,
Chopin creates a microcosm in Mrs. Mallard s bedroom of solidarity; a world of freedom and
choice within the bedroom and the world of deterministic forces on the other side of the door.
Through the setting, Chopin explores the dichotomy between the desire to change one s situation
and the possibility to change one s situation.
In a realistic perspective, one is cautious of the truth as it cannot be changed by any means and
determines one s fate. As the news of Brently Mallard s death arrives, family and friends are
apprehensive to deliver the news to Mrs. Mallard. The caution, however, does not stem from
genuine concern for her

Wordsworth takes readers on a reminiscent journey in I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud reflecting
upon visions of nature. The figurative language and diction used elucidate the poet s response to
nature. Wordsworth uses each stanza to share his experience in nature through the image of a dance
that culminates in the poet s emotional response.
Wordsworth opens with reference to himself through simile as a part of the natural landscape, I

opening simile puts the reader in the poet s state of mind. A cloud is a lightweight, free flowing

the daffodils and another natural element. Applying simile, the poet connects the flowers to the

infinite flowers is created, while shine and twinkle produce an image of light. Wordsworth uses the
light imagery to link the two aspects of nature; the luminous stars of the night and golden daffodils
of the day. The link shows the reader the connection the poet sees in different facets of nature. The
second stanza continues the description of the dance Ten thousand saw I at a glance, / Tossing
their heads in sprightly dance (12). The image created is of large numbers of flowers moving in
unison and expresses the harmony the poet finds in nature. The usage of sprightly makes another
reference to light, but in the sense of movement and weight as cloud and floats were utilized in the
first stanza. Diction in the second stanza provides the reader with a multi dimensional prospective
of Wordsworth s imagery by giving the images action, feeling and weight.
Personifying another facet of nature, Wordsworth partners the daffodils in their dance, The waves
beside them danced, but they / Outdid the sparkling waves in glee (13 14). The lines also work to

The Pursuit For World Domination
In the early 20th century, world domination was a realistic notion advocated by American leaders,
specifically, then Governor and future President, Theodore Roosevelt. Many outspoken political
commentators opposed this notion and believed world domination was excessive and unnecessary
and was not in America s best interest. One of these political commentators was none other than the
revered Mark Twain, who, in his 1901 satirical piece, To the Person Sitting in Darkness , attempts to
expose the downsides of American expansionism. Twain accomplishes this by satirically describing
the pursuit for world domination as a game between coercive countries and highlighting the
deceptive nature of these countries to win the game . Also through... Show more content on

By using imagery and symbolism, Mark Twain attempts to demonize American foreign policy by
portraying it as dishonest and opportunistic. Twain uses the term Christendom to describe America
and other players of the game whose objective is to conquer foreign nations. Twain uses the term
Those Sitting in Darkness to describe the nations Christendom is attempting to conquer. It is readily
apparent that Twain is implying that the nations who house person s sitting in darkness have not
seen the light of Christendom , which means they are non Christian nations. To drive home this
point Twain gives the example of China, a prominently secular nation, stating it houses countrymen
who are sitting in darkness (Twain 3). Twain explains that in order to to gain access to these
countrymen and conquer their land, America must appeal to their trust by showing them the
Blessings of Civilization . This is a form of religious imagery as Twain is implying that
Christendom is blessed by a higher power and have an appealing set of morals and virtues that they
can offer unblessed nations.
However, Twain suggests in numerous occasions that these Blessings of Civilization are merely a
guise to help gain the trust of those sitting in darkness in order to better conquer them. After
describing the Blessings of Civilization Twain mockingly states, There. Is it good? Sir, it is pie. It
will bring into camp any

George Orwell
George Orwell England Your England
As I write, highly civilized human beings are flying overhead, trying to kill me. They do not feel
any enmity against me as an individual, nor I against them. They are only doing their duty , as
the saying goes. Most of them, I have no doubt, are kind hearted lawabiding men who would
never dream of committing murder in private life. On the other hand, if one of them succeeds in
blowing me to pieces with a well placed bomb, he will never sleep any the worse for it. He is
serving his country, which has the power to absolve him from evil. One cannot see the modern
world as it is unless one recognizes the overwhelming strength of patriotism, national loyalty. In
certain circumstances it can break down, at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And like everything else it can change only in certain directions, which up to a point can be
foreseen. That is not to say that the future is fixed, merely that certain alternatives are possible and
others not. A seed may grow or not grow, but at any rate a turnip seed never grows into a parsnip. It
is therefore of the deepest importance to try and determine what England is, before guessing what
part England can play in the huge events that are happening.

National characteristics are not easy to pin down, and when pinned down they often turn out to be
trivialities or seem to have no connexion with one another. Spaniards are cruel to animals, Italians
can do nothing without making a deafening noise, the Chinese are addicted to gambling.
Obviously such things don t matter in themselves. Nevertheless, nothing is causeless, and even the
fact that Englishmen have bad teeth can tell something about the realities of English life. Here are
a couple of generalizations about England that would be accepted by almost all observers. One is
that the English are not gifted artistically. They are not as musical as the Germans or Italians,
painting and sculpture have never flourished in England as they have in France. Another is that, as
Europeans go, the English are not intellectual. They have a horror of abstract thought, they feel no
need for any philosophy or systematic world view . Nor is this because they are

Aggiornamento: the Vatican II and the Eastern Orthodox Church s Impact on the Modern
Church
There are very few things in this world that are for sure. However, one of those things that can be
counted on is, change. Change is inevitable. Change is unstoppable.
Change does not ask for permission. People change, seasons change, times change, styles, change,
and even the church changes. Aggiornamento, which means, bringing up to date, was one of the
key words used by bishops, clergy, and media attending the sessions of the Second Vatican Council.
This term was intended to signify in the spirit of change and to have an open mindedness. Pope
John XXIII s pontifical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, the Roman Catholic Church sees itself as the one and only true
Aguilar 2 legitimate heir to New Testament Christianity. In addition, they consider the pope as the
successor to Peter, the first bishop of Rome. Although one can debate those details, one thing is for
sure, the history of the Roman church extends back to ancient times. Shortly after apostolic times,
there was a vibrant Christian community that existed in Rome.
Those early Roman Christians were just like the Christians in other parts of the world, fully
devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Second, the Eastern Orthodox Church is not a single church but
rather a family of 13 self governing bodies. They are controlled and influenced by the nation in
which they are located (e.g., the Greek Orthodox Church,
Russian Orthodox Church). The sacraments, doctrine, liturgy, and church government, unite them,
but each church deals with its own affairs on its own merits. The head of each
Orthodox Church is called a patriarch. The patriarch of Constantinople (Istanbul,
Turkey) is considered the ecumenical or universal patriarch. He would be considered the closest
thing to a mirror of the Roman Catholic Pope. However, unlike the Pope, he enjoys special honor,
but has no real power to interfere with the 12 other Orthodox communities. Like the Catholic
Church, the Orthodox Church claims to be the one true church of Christ and traces its origins back
to the original twelve apostles through

Distance Learning Disadvantages
Looking at All Sides Distance learning is an emerging method of learning. Everyone can learn in
every time at any location as long as they can access to Internet. I use distance learning as well.
During the last summer vacation, I began to study how to play guitar by myself through some
videos which is posted on the Internet by some professional guitarists. Now I have gotten the first
level guitar certificate. The distance learning help me a lot. However, some people think distance
learning is useless compared with traditional classroom. Though people have various opinions
based on their experience, social roles and information from others, I still believe it is necessary to
look at all sizes because it can strengthen our own opinions and reduce misunderstanding. Some of
parents question about distance learning. They think distance learning is useless because it does
not have supervisors like teachers. Students may be distracted by the relaxing environment at home
and do not finish their homework on time. At the same time, some teachers also point out that
distance learning is not as efficient as classroom because it cannot have a discussion and
participation with peers and teachers. Without other students, they may lose the passion about
study. What is more, Communication with others also an important lesson to students. By contrast,
other students and office workers believe that distance learning can also be flexible for them. They
can learn wherever

  • 2. Honda Pilot Commercial Analysis Essay The Sing A Long In the 2012 Honda Pilot commercial, the viewer will automatically notice that this car is a total family based car. In the commercial a family of eight is shown traveling on what seemed to be a very long and exhausting car ride, heading to a vacation spot of some sort. With six kids in the back, the viewer wouldn t imagine a quiet car ride, luckily the teen in the back row of the car changed that. The boy started making a beat with his mouth that was very familiar to not just him but to his sister as well, who continued to make another beat with him that was not just familiar to them, but to there whole family. Once everyone in the car had figured out the song, one of the daughters sitting by the window had started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The setting in the commercial is very important because the Honda Pilot was made for bigger families that like to travel. The setting in this commercial was on a road in what looked like the middle of nowhere. There were tons of dirt hills as they drove past that almost look like mountains Which could be one of the reason why the windows were down in the Honda Pilot. In the Honda Pilot not just the driver and the passenger side window roll down, but the back middle roll down as well. With mountains being there, it helps the Pilot show off that feature which can partly convince the buyer to purchase the Honda. The viewer will also notice the dullness of colors being used in the commercial. When watching the commercial the viewer will notice that the mountains, and the sky outside of the Honda Pilot are a very dull yellow and brown color. The point of that is to show how boring life is outside of the Pilot. The dullness of the colors outside of the vehicle make the vehicle come off as a shiny new item that the viewer needs for his/her family, but the colors on the inside play a big role to the commercial as well. The interior of the Honda Pilot can be described as soft and plush material, as well as smooth and warm. The Honda Pilot was made for families so the impotence of how well the interior was contrasted with the outside of the car was very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Themes Of The Time Machine Once in my basketball game, my team was losing by many points. However, we never gave up and started to make a comeback. The crowd was getting louder as the final seconds approached. There was 2 seconds left, and Julien Flores shot the ball. Swoosh. We had won the game because we never gave up. Persevering through obstacles is the major theme in H.G. Wells novel titled, The Time Machine. This novel is about a time traveler who traveled far into the future and encountered strange humanoid creatures. The world was very different and another species called the Morlocks had stolen his Time Machine. The Time Traveler persevered through this and he eventually got his Time Machine back and he travelled back home. An example of the main theme in The Time Machine being how you should persevere through obstacles is found on page 104 and H.G. Wells states, So I came back. For a long time I must have been insensible upon the machine. This evidence show show the main theme of the Time Machine is that you should never give up because the Time Traveler has been trying to get home for a long time and he never gave up. He was eventually able to get home and this shows how since the time traveler was able to get home because he persevered, the main theme in the novel is that you should never give up. Another piece of evidence that H.G. Wells includes is on page 1 and it states, There I object, said Filby. Of course a solid body may exist. All real things This evidence shows how the ... • 4. The Death Toll Of Haiti It was typical late afternoon in Haiti capital of Port au Prince. People were strolling the streets, and local vendors were selling various goods at the Port au Prince historic Iron Market. Then at 4:53 pm on January 12, 2010 a 7.0 magnitude hit Haiti. Haiti had not seen a major earthquake like this in almost 200 years. People scrambled through the streets as the ground roared knocking down huge stone and brick building onto the streets of Port au Prince. An eyewitness describes the moment that the earthquakehit, The earth screamed; a sound of thunder that came from its belly as it violently shook the plants, the car, the walls, the pavement that I stood on. I called out to everyone to walk out of the house quickly. It seemed like a long, long time. Then silence. Then screams from some of the residents of the rural neighborhood (Clesca, 2010). This would be one of the deadliest earthquake of our generation. The estimated death toll was 316,000 deaths, and over 3 million people were displaced by the earthquake. Many people died when their dwelling collapsed and they were trapped under the rumble. People also died from falling objects, such as large building materials. This earthquake will ultimately change the structured of Haiti and leave many residents asking, who is responsible for the huge loss of life? As I have mention above, Haiti has not been hit by a major earthquake since the 18th century. Geologists first believed that Caribbean tectonic plates were responsible ... Even with this support, the federal government has refused any sort of clinical testing or reclassifying. Introduction Respected Marxist critic Frederic Jameson once described every instance of third world literature as necessarily nationally allegorical (69), an assertion spectacularly assailed by Aijaz Ahmad (77 82). But it is possible to close our eyes to Ahmad s very valid misgivings and take a bird s eye view of Jameson s assertion: read in reaction to the phenomenon of imperialism, perhaps the literature of dominated peoples is the literature of self assertion, however blind to Jameson s national allegorical (or anticolonial) imperative, and however hybrid . Situating Americanah in the Post Colonial Moment Since it is published in 2013, the material reality of Americanah is conditioned, however distantly it seems now, by the phenomenon of colonialism it is written in English, for instance. Although published in 2013, the temporality and spatiality of Americanah s narrative extends backwards to the late 70s when its major protagonist, Ifemelu, was born. As a child, she witnesses the death by firing squad of that famous robbery kingpin, Lawrence Anini (148), and lives through coups, coups attempts, strikes and the usual brand of public dysfunction that still haunts Nigeria, therefore linking its post coloniality with that decidedly African brand of introverted, introspective post independence post coloniality of disillusionment exemplified by novels such as Ayi Kwei Armah s The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born, Chinua Achebe s No Longer at Ease and Anthills of the Savannah, and soon enough with the post coloniality of globalization (and the neoliberal ideology that has hijacked it). As we see in the novel, this disillusionment is the animus of her exile. Ifemelu arrives America in 1997, the year in which Kudirat Abiola, activist wife of M.K.O Abiola, was killed (116). Here, Americanah s post coloniality takes a new turn. This new turn, inaugurated by Ifemelu s (voluntary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The cryptocurrencies that followed have tried in various ways to implement their predecessors success; these are referred to as altcoins. Altcoin is the name given to all cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin, essentially all altcoins are cryptocurrencies but not all cryptocurrencies are altcoins. Cryptocurrencies are generated by mining which involves utilizing processing power to work through the algorithms used in the coin causing blocks to be released. These blocks contain a set number of coins as a reward for working through the algorithm. One of the main difference between national currencies and digital currencies such as bitcoin is that national currencies can be produced in limitless numbers whereas cryptocurrencies have set amounts. For instance Bitcoin is limited to 21 million coins, which means that eventually they will all be mined out. This happens over very long periods of time however as the more algorithms are solved and blocks released the rewards get increasingly small. In the play Antigone, written by Sophocles, Antigone finds herself torn apart between divine law and state law. The play opens up at the end of a war between Eteocles and Polyneices, sons of Oedipus and brothers of Antigone and Ismene. These brothers, fighting for control of Thebes, kill each other, making Creon king of Thebes. Creon, as king, gives an important speech to the citizens of Thebes, announcing that Eteocles, who defended Thebes, will receive a proper burial, unlike his brother Polyneices, who brought a foreign army against Thebes. This speech introduces the major conflict of divine law versus state law. Furthermore, Creon cherishes order and loyalty above all else.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is evident, through this argument, that there is dramatic foil between Ismene and Antigone. Ismene is a typical woman of the Greek s society, accepting male dominance. She believes that a man can do as he pleases, and a woman must not get in the way of his wishes. Antigone, on the other hand, not only speaks her mind, but acts on her beliefs as well. In the end, she makes up her own rules and assumes full responsibility for her actions. Although Creon has stated that the traitor Polyneices must not be given proper burial, Antigone is the only one who speaks against this decree and insists on the sacredness of family. Whereas Antigone sees no validity in a law that disregards the duty family members owe one another, Creon s point of view it the total opposite. Antigone calls attention to the difference between the divine law and human law. She doubts Creon s authority. Creon represents the power of human law and of the human need for an orderly, stable society. Between Antigone and Creon there is no compromise. The Three Reasons And Rationales For The Exclusionary Rule The following are the three justifications and their rationales for the exclusionary rule: Constitutional rights, judicial integrity and deterrence. Because of the Constitutional rights the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights wouldn t mean anything without the exclusion. In regards to judicial integrity the courts shouldn t contribute in unconstitutional behavior by approving it. To ensure deterrence in negative police conduct steps in prevention of unconstitutional conduct by government officers are taken. The justification that the U.S. Supreme Court uses today for the exclusionary rule is, The reasonable, good faith exception, created by U.S. v. Leon (1984), allows the government to use evidence obtained from searches based on unlawful search if officers honestly and reasonably believed they were lawful. The law was created to prevent misconduct. The rule has no deterrent effect if officers believed they were doing everything legitimately. There are six exceptions to the exclusionary rule, but I am going to name five. They are: Collateral use, independent source, cross examination, attenuation of the taint of constitutional conduct, and inevitable discovery. In Gloria Anzaldua s Borderlands/La Frontera, she uses her own personal experiences growing up and living near the border that separates the United States and Mexico. Anzaldua makes us reexamine the purpose of a border and the negative effects that come with it. Since she lives close to the border, she cannot completely identity herself as an American nor would she be able to call herself Mexican. As a Chicana, she did not know where she belonged in society. The two cultures she lived under put her in this constant state of transition. The struggles she faces strongly resembles the ones that Piri Thomas faces in his novel Down These Mean Streets. Despite the fact that Thomas was actually of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent, many people failed to recognize him as such and saw him as an African American. In the first chapter of Anzaldua s novel, she describes her homeland and what it means to live by the border. Borders are set up to define the places that are safe and unsafe, to distinguish us from them. A border is a dividing line, a narrow strip along a steep edge (25). The purpose of this boundary was for the whites and those who align themselves with whites to feel safe and secured from the half breed or multicultural people of the south (26). This separation creates this belief that one side is superior to the other. When retelling the history of Mexicos colonization, Anzaldua recognizes how, the Gringo, locked into the fiction of white superiority, seized complete political power, stripping Indians and Mexicans of their land while their feet were still rooted in it (29). The Natives and the Mexicans had control over the area way before the Europeans came but now their land was being taken away. After losing the war to the United States, Mexico was compelled to give roughly half of its territory to them; the area that is currently Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexicoand Texas. Separated from Mexico, the Native Mexican Texan no longer looked toward Mexico as home; the Southwest became our homeland once more (29). Once the area was controlled by the U.S., the vast majority of its occupants looked with disarray as they could never again consider Mexico as their home. This new border that the ... Family A family is a set of people related by blood, marriage or some other agreed upon relationship, or adoption, who share the primary responsibility for reproduction and caring for members of society. (Schaefer, 2009) A family is considered a social institution. This social institution is one that can be applied to all three sociological theories which are functionalism, conflict, and interactionism. The first sociological theory is functionalism. Functionalist view these interactions as something that is positive and rarely have many conflicts to overcome. While the conflict perspective seems to view consent struggles with many aspects of the family. There is first the conflicts that fill the inside of the family. Those are the struggles a member has with other members of the family for roles within the family. The other is the conflicts the family has as a whole with other families. An example of such was used during Play when the story is set inside a videogame in which the characters play as characters inside of the game cartages. Also, while in The Worker Drone this theme is shown with the use of the Planet Dogstar promo commercial that is played as a video inside of a movie. • 32. Language In Human Communication Language is a powerful tool that is integral in human communication. The human brain is hard wired to be adept at understanding social cues and situations that change the way we choose to communicate. These internal and external factors play into one another and ultimately determine how we choose to correspond with others to achieve our ultimate goal relaying a message. Although in many cases it is frowned upon to rely on slang to convey ideas, in some situations, slang can be a reliable resource. By using his or her discretion and analyzing the situation, the speaker must determine whether or not this dangerous, risk reward weapon should be used. Internal factors will greatly contribute to the path a person takes in corresponding with others. The way a person feels about his or her own subject matter, determines what attitude the message will carry. This is known as tone. A speaker who is speaking on something he or she disagrees with might possess an antagonistic tone, while someone who is passionate about their topic may be upbeat. The tone of a message arbitrates what words will be used. This is called the style. Style is the culmination of word choice, idea arrangement, and the overall message portrayed by the grouping of words. She celebrates women who seek their own identity and focuses on individual journeys of self discovery. Her short story The Story of an Hour has a unique structure in that it adheres to a realistic premise, yet contains a protagonist who represents idealism. Faced with the news that her husband has died, Mrs. Mallard takes ownership of her own emotions and strength to control her life. However, her emotional revelation emerges only upon her husband s supposed death. Chopin juxtaposes physical death with emotional freedom, suggesting actions and feelings are determined by social, psychological, and emotional forces instead of individual will. In order to show the fragility of Mrs. Mallard and her idealism, Chopin creates a microcosm in Mrs. Mallard s bedroom of solidarity; a world of freedom and choice within the bedroom and the world of deterministic forces on the other side of the door. Through the setting, Chopin explores the dichotomy between the desire to change one s situation and the possibility to change one s situation. In a realistic perspective, one is cautious of the truth as it cannot be changed by any means and determines one s fate. • 41. The Pursuit For World Domination In the early 20th century, world domination was a realistic notion advocated by American leaders, specifically, then Governor and future President, Theodore Roosevelt. Many outspoken political commentators opposed this notion and believed world domination was excessive and unnecessary and was not in America s best interest. One of these political commentators was none other than the revered Mark Twain, who, in his 1901 satirical piece, To the Person Sitting in Darkness , attempts to expose the downsides of American expansionism. Twain accomplishes this by satirically describing the pursuit for world domination as a game between coercive countries and highlighting the deceptive nature of these countries to win the game . Also through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using imagery and symbolism, Mark Twain attempts to demonize American foreign policy by portraying it as dishonest and opportunistic. Twain uses the term Christendom to describe America and other players of the game whose objective is to conquer foreign nations. Twain uses the term Those Sitting in Darkness to describe the nations Christendom is attempting to conquer. It is readily apparent that Twain is implying that the nations who house person s sitting in darkness have not seen the light of Christendom , which means they are non Christian nations. To drive home this point Twain gives the example of China, a prominently secular nation, stating it houses countrymen who are sitting in darkness (Twain 3). Twain explains that in order to to gain access to these countrymen and conquer their land, America must appeal to their trust by showing them the Blessings of Civilization . This is a form of religious imagery as Twain is implying that Christendom is blessed by a higher power and have an appealing set of morals and virtues that they can offer unblessed nations. However, Twain suggests in numerous occasions that these Blessings of Civilization are merely a guise to help gain the trust of those sitting in darkness in order to better conquer them. After describing the Blessings of Civilization Twain mockingly states, There. Is it good? Sir, it is pie. It will bring into camp any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. George Orwell George Orwell England Your England As I write, highly civilized human beings are flying overhead, trying to kill me. They do not feel any enmity against me as an individual, nor I against them. They are only doing their duty , as the saying goes. Most of them, I have no doubt, are kind hearted lawabiding men who would never dream of committing murder in private life. On the other hand, if one of them succeeds in blowing me to pieces with a well placed bomb, he will never sleep any the worse for it. He is serving his country, which has the power to absolve him from evil. One cannot see the modern world as it is unless one recognizes the overwhelming strength of patriotism, national loyalty. In certain circumstances it can break down, at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And like everything else it can change only in certain directions, which up to a point can be foreseen. That is not to say that the future is fixed, merely that certain alternatives are possible and others not. A seed may grow or not grow, but at any rate a turnip seed never grows into a parsnip. It is therefore of the deepest importance to try and determine what England is, before guessing what part England can play in the huge events that are happening. II National characteristics are not easy to pin down, and when pinned down they often turn out to be trivialities or seem to have no connexion with one another. Spaniards are cruel to animals, Italians can do nothing without making a deafening noise, the Chinese are addicted to gambling. Obviously such things don t matter in themselves. Nevertheless, nothing is causeless, and even the fact that Englishmen have bad teeth can tell something about the realities of English life. Here are a couple of generalizations about England that would be accepted by almost all observers. One is that the English are not gifted artistically. They are not as musical as the Germans or Italians, painting and sculpture have never flourished in England as they have in France. Another is that, as Europeans go, the English are not intellectual. They have a horror of abstract thought, they feel no need for any philosophy or systematic world view . Nor is this because they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aguilar 1 Jason Aguilar Gary Tyra MILD 305 Church History 14 June 2016 Aggiornamento: the Vatican II and the Eastern Orthodox Church s Impact on the Modern Church There are very few things in this world that are for sure. However, one of those things that can be counted on is, change. Change is inevitable. Change is unstoppable. Change does not ask for permission. People change, seasons change, times change, styles, change, and even the church changes. Aggiornamento, which means, bringing up to date, was one of the key words used by bishops, clergy, and media attending the sessions of the Second Vatican Council. This term was intended to signify in the spirit of change and to have an open mindedness. Pope John XXIII s pontifical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, the Roman Catholic Church sees itself as the one and only true Aguilar 2 legitimate heir to New Testament Christianity. In addition, they consider the pope as the successor to Peter, the first bishop of Rome. Although one can debate those details, one thing is for sure, the history of the Roman church extends back to ancient times. Shortly after apostolic times, there was a vibrant Christian community that existed in Rome. Those early Roman Christians were just like the Christians in other parts of the world, fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Second, the Eastern Orthodox Church is not a single church but rather a family of 13 self governing bodies. They are controlled and influenced by the nation in which they are located (e.g., the Greek Orthodox Church, Russian Orthodox Church). The sacraments, doctrine, liturgy, and church government, unite them, but each church deals with its own affairs on its own merits. The head of each Orthodox Church is called a patriarch. The patriarch of Constantinople (Istanbul, Turkey) is considered the ecumenical or universal patriarch. He would be considered the closest thing to a mirror of the Roman Catholic Pope. However, unlike the Pope, he enjoys special honor, but has no real power to interfere with the 12 other Orthodox communities. Like the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church claims to be the one true church of Christ and traces its origins back to the original twelve apostles through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Distance Learning Disadvantages Looking at All Sides Distance learning is an emerging method of learning. Everyone can learn in every time at any location as long as they can access to Internet. I use distance learning as well. During the last summer vacation, I began to study how to play guitar by myself through some videos which is posted on the Internet by some professional guitarists. Now I have gotten the first level guitar certificate. The distance learning help me a lot. However, some people think distance learning is useless compared with traditional classroom. Though people have various opinions based on their experience, social roles and information from others, I still believe it is necessary to look at all sizes because it can strengthen our own opinions and reduce misunderstanding. Some of parents question about distance learning. They think distance learning is useless because it does not have supervisors like teachers. Students may be distracted by the relaxing environment at home and do not finish their homework on time. At the same time, some teachers also point out that distance learning is not as efficient as classroom because it cannot have a discussion and participation with peers and teachers. Without other students, they may lose the passion about study. What is more, Communication with others also an important lesson to students. By contrast, other students and office workers believe that distance learning can also be flexible for them. They can learn wherever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
