The Friendship of Gilgamesh and Enkidu Essay
The Epic of Gilgamesh is a historic story of the king of Uruk, Gilgamesh. The story depicts the
short lived friendship of Gilgamesh and Enkidu. The story begins as Shamat the harlot seduces
Enkidu and convinces him to go to the city of Uruk and meet Gilgamesh. From that moment on,
the two were very close. They planned a trip to the forest of cedars to defeat the monster known as
Humbabaso that Gilgamesh could show his power to the citizens of Uruk. However, Enkidutried
vainly to dissuade (18) Gilgamesh in going to the forest. Despite Enkidu s plead, the two continued
on their voyage to the forest where Humbaba lives. Once they arrived, they found the monster and
killed him.
They cut down trees, then Enkidu builds a gigantic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Utanapishtim himself is living an eternal life. He sets off on this journey with the death of his close
friend Enkidu still weighing heavily upon him.
On his quest to search for this form of unreachable eternal life, Gilgamesh learned some lessons.
Utanapishtim gives him some good advice about death and how no one sees death, no one sees
the face of death, no one [hears] the voice of death, but cruel death cuts off mankind. (82)
Utsanapishtim goes on to state, they did not reveal the time of death. (83) Gilgamesh is given a
challenge to see if he was worthy enough of eternal life. The challenge was to stay awake for
several days without an ounce of sleep; if he couldn t pass this challenge then he couldn t expect
to live forever. Unfortunately Gilgamesh fails the task by sleeping the entire week. Utsanapishtim
gives his a rejuvenation plant in his last will to help Gilgamesh. However, the plant is taken away
by a snake. Gilgamesh ultimately gives up at this point; for myself I have obtained no benefit. (95)
Gilgamesh ends his journey to see Utanapishtim on a bad note. He finally faces the fact that he
cannot live forever. Instead of running from the inevitable like he has been doing, he has to face
his fear of death. After all of his attempts, he fails miserably and decides to go back to Uruk. The

Teaching Style Of The Instructor
Each teacher is different no matter what the course subject is. When I find myself in a new
class with a new professor I seem to notice the little details that make up the teaching style of the
instructor. In total I have four classes all of which are part of Chattahoochee technical College.
Two of those classes take place at the Paulding Campus and the other two take place at the North
Metro campus. I take my American Government class at the North Metro Campus every
Tuesdays and Thursdays. Every Monday and Wednesday I go to the Paulding Campus to take
College Algebra. These two professors differ in more ways than just the subject of their course.
My American government teacher is pretty cool. He has a very fun way of teaching. By
cracking jokes and making cheesy remarks on every chapter, he always succeeds at making his
class an interesting one. Every lecture does not even seem like one. I always look forward to
sitting in the front of his class ready to learn everything. However, my college algebra professor
is, with all due respect, a more old schooled instructor. He does crack a few jokes from time to
time but he s mostly serious. He is very focused because in math one flaw, no matter how small,
can cause the answer to be wrong. His way of teaching is quite interesting as well; not only does
he teach the class the easiest way to solve a problem, he also teaches the class the harder way.
Every student is different so the line between the easy way and the hard way

Red wine, given ruby to dark red with garnet highlights, promising a richly aromatic, well structured
wine.
Type of wine:
Character of the wine: Full Bodied Red wine, harvest by hand with the process of fruit selection
beginning in the vineyard, and transport of the selected grapes to the chai in small, 30 kg crates.
The vinifications take place in thermo regulated concrete vats for an average of 21 days.
Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel. After the malolactic fermentation stage, all the
wines are carefully matured in oak casks of which 70% are new for about 15 months. The wine is
full bodied Pomerol, without the ripeness, elegance and concentration the better wines from the
region often display. Grow in Single 11 hectare Pomerol vineyard. Nose: A powerful bouquet
asserts the wine s personality with pronounced aromas of violets (from the Merlot) and truffles. A
distinguishing feature is the very board spectrum of fragrances ranging from red fruits and animal
notes to noble hints of leather. Palate: The wine s aromatic richness and complexity are confirmed
on the palate. The young wines are supported by powerful structure and remarkable persistence,
developing in strength over the years. Older wines acquire a rich, smooth, silky character in perfect
harmony with their aromatic expression.

Uw-M Personal Statement
I have applied to the University of Wisconsin Madison mainly because of its excellent business
program and its ability to place a large amounts of students into their desired careers when they
graduate. Personally, I would love to be a part of the Wisconsin Undergraduate (BBA) Program and
major in Finance, Investment, and Banking. Seeing the tremendous job placements, the challenging
course work, and interesting culture that surrounds UW M, I cannot wait to begin my studies there.
First of all, UW M s business program is widely regarded as one of the best business schools in the
United States. I plan to extract every ounce of education from the school and leverage the well build
alumni network into an investment banking job in the future. ... Show more content on

The most notable one being Capital Management Club. This is a student run investment club similar
to the club that I run at University of California, Riverside. Both clubs seem to operate in a
similar fashion, and I would love to be part of Capital Management Club so I can share my
experiences with running a similar club and can possibly help the club grow even more. I am
also interested in how the club decide on investments and how it allocates capital in varying
sectors. Aside from this, Investment Banking Club and Taiwanese Undergraduate Student
Organization seems attractive to me as well. The Investment Banking Club is an excellent
opportunity to advance my chance of securing an opportunity at a reputable firm in the future.
The multitudes of resources provided by the club such as banking interview training, valuation
training, and networking trips sounds enticing to me. I am very impressed by what the club has
done and accomplished. Therefore, it would be an honor for me to be a part of it, and given the
chance, I would even want to hold a leadership position at the club. Most importantly, I believe I
will find like minded people from this club and truly make my experiences at UW M worthwhile.
This leads to my next point in my desire of joining Taiwanese

A Visit At The Amalie Arena Kanye West

his tenth stop on his Saint Pablo Tour. Kanye performed 31 songs along with his parts in other
popular song. The arena is a hockey arena there was general admission where the rink would be,

ВЅ hours later at 10:30 during this time the lights were all on there was ominous howling musicfog
machines , spewing fog and nothing up on the screen projectors where the speakers and rafters
were in the center of the arena. When Kanye did appear he was dressed head to toe in his fashion

staple item Yeezy shoes. throughout the performance the whole time he is barely seen he is
intentionally obscured there was no shining lights on himself but instead smoke or lighting
designs to not focus on him which I find interesting since he s usually made out to be a ego
maniac. Kanye is tethered to the center of a what is to be a levitated platform above the crowd that
moves back and forth during the performance, the bottom of his floating platform lit the audience
and mosh pit beneath him. Kanye was the only performer except for stage hands the only
instruments used were his voice, his songs playing in the background, and a voice synthesizer used
quite often. He opened with Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 and Pt.

Quafe Ultra Essay
In the early days of YC106, the Quafe Corporation announced the launch of a new beverage in
their franchise known as Quafe Ultra. Promising a new twist on the familiar Quafe flavor, the
product came with a cluster wide advertisement campaign. Portrayed as a wonder tonic , the drink
was rife with controversy from the very first advertisements released. Accordingly, the marketingof
the drink may have directly invoked the attackon what was the largest gathering of celebrities at the
time.
The first advertisement to cause a stir was released to the public of the Amarr Empire. Displaying
St. Junip s Cathedral in Dam Torsad, among Amarr Prime s oldest landmarks, the advertisement
revolved around a group of Amarr theology students. One of the students opens a can of Quafe
Ultra and the study quickly devolved into a raucous party. The cathedral spire was portrayed in a
less than savory light from the resulting party. In response, several notable entities within the
Empire voiced their opposition for the advertisement. However, this did not at all deter Quafe from
continuing their marketing campaign. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the boardroom became ecstatic, partying themselves. The resulting portrayal had multiple corporate
bodies within the Caldari state filing claims of SCC violations. Chief among them were the

Life Coaching Misconceptions Essay
Common Misconceptions Of Life Coaching
By Christina Cordle
Oct 20, 2012
Life coaching has become the popular method of improving the lives of workers and ordinary
individuals. For years, it is used by numerous individuals to correct their problems, to achieve their
goals and to boost success.
It becomes a popular byword not only in communities, but companies as well because they believed
of the power of coaching to change lives and to obtain the desired goals they want. At present,
supervisors and managers no longer criticize their subordinates, but they coach them to motivate
them.
What is life coaching?
It is a method wherein professional coaches work with clients to address specific personal problems,
personal projects, transitions, business successes, conditions in life and relationships. It is different
from mentoring, therapy, consulting and therapy because it focuses on the root cause of the problem.

What are these misconceptions?
Below are the common misconceptions about life coaching:
1. Life coaching is a therapy where individuals can rely on it for counseling and psychotherapy. In
reality, coaching is not therapy, but a method to help individuals achieve their goals.
2. It can fix problems of individuals. It is a misconception because coaching is just a tool and a
catalyst to help individuals find solutions to their own problems. It is not life coaching itself that
solved these problems, but it is the person involved who has the responsibility to address their
actions.
3. It is comparable to mentoring that gives individuals advice. It is not similar to mentoring
because it does not give advice, but raises the awareness of individuals on their capability and
capacity to solve their problems and to achieve their

The Dead By James Joyce Meaning
After reading The Dead by James Joyce, I came to the conclusion that the title of the short story
has a very deep meaning, both literally and figuratively. The reason for which I believe the title
has a literal meaning is that the author briefly mentions about some secondary characters, who
in one way or another, are part of the story but are no longer alive. Some of these characters are
the following: Pat Morkan (Brother of Kate and Julia), Ellen Morkan Conroy (Mother of
Gabriel), T.J Conroy (Member of the Dublin Port and Docks Board, and Father of Gabriel), Patrick
Morkan (Owner of a starch mill, and Father of Kate and Julia), and, especially, Michael Furey
(Gretta s first lover who died for the love of her). At the same time, I consider

Comparing The Interlopers And What Of This Goldfish
In the stories The Interlopers and What of this Goldfish, Would you wish? , they show that it is
important to accept others that are different from yourself by proving that you need to know
someone before you judge them and comprehend someone s culture and background and who
they are in order to accept them. In each story, it is shown that it is very important to get all the
information before you can accept someone, even when they re from another country or even
right down the street from you. Collectively, both stories show sacrifice of ignorance and the gain
of knowledge is a huge part of acceptance. In the story The Interlopers , we find two men, Ulrich
von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym, who have held a grudge against one another over a plot of land
and hated each other for years because the other intevened with the land they wanted. The men didn

will of the two men had not stood in the way; , meaning if the men had just not been so shut in
and selfish, they could have compromised something with the land, lived and could have ended

Abstract A Wireless networkis a dynamic network with large no.of nodes. As the traffic increases
over the network such type of network suffers from the problems like congestion and packet loss.
But in case of P2P network there is one more problem regarding the life of the network. A
network can be affected from some intruder or some broken link over the network As a result some

Designing a foolproof security for ad hoc network is a challenging task due to its unique
characteristics such as, lack of central authority, frequent topology changes, rapid node mobility,
shared radio channel and limited availability of resources
The wireless networks use air through the operation of a communications protocol. For
synchronization, wireless networks employ a carrier sense protocol similar to the common Ethernet
standard. This protocol enables a group of wireless computers to share the same frequency and
space.
While the term wireless network may technically be used to refer to any type of network that is
wireless, the term is most commonly used to refer to a telecommunications network whose
interconnections between nodes is implemented without the use of wires, such as a computer
network (which is a type of communications network).
The Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has been involved in the development
of wireless LAN standards for the last seven years. Finally IEEE has evolved with a version of
standard to be used for wireless networks named as IEEE 802.11 in 1997.
Wireless networks refer to those networks that make use of radio waves or microwaves in order to
establish communication between the devices.

Imperial Expansion in Global Asia 1400 to 1800
Imperial Expansion in Global Asia, 1400 to 1800
The early modern era, roughly around 1400 to 1800, was significantly marked by empire
expansions. Asian empires like Timur in Central Eurasia, the Ming and Qing, as well as the
Mughals, Ottomans, and Safavids expanded their territories through military conquest and
commercial penetration. As they established political control over much more vast tracts of land,
new commercial networks and culture interactions were also emerged. Also, it was a time of global
imperial expansion. Asia was connected to the broader global interacting patterns with the
increasing involvement of western Europeans.
The Ming (1368 1644) and later the Qing (1644 1911) dynasties of China expanded broadly across
central Asia into Mongolia, Turkestan, and Tibet. The Ming dynasty put a considerable emphasis
on oceanic exploration. A dramatic example of the Ming s prowess at the time can be seen in the
expansive voyages of Zheng He. He commanded the Ming dynasty s fleet of immense trading
vessels on expeditions ranging as far as Africa between 1405 and 1423, helping to extend Chinese
maritime and commercial influence throughout the regions bordering the Indian Ocean. His
Muslim faith and prestigious position in government reminds us of the ethnic and religious
diversity of the vast Chinese empire. Later in the Qing dynasty, China undertook a territory
expansion beyond its boundary to control vast, multicultural, multi climatic realm with centralizing
state

Essay Renaissance and Nineteenth Century Architecture
Renaissance and Nineteenth Century Architecture
There are many different styles of architecture. All these styles depend on the time period, and the
architecture. Today, many architects incorporate many styles into one building, giving it uniqueness.
Introduction
The dictionary defines architecture as the art and science of designing and erecting buildings
(dictionary.com).
Since the beginning of civilization, architects have been designing structures and buildings. They
are sometimes conventional, and at other times, they are not.

Nineteenth Century: Iron, Glass and Steel
The nineteenth century saw some changes from the previous artistic periods. This period contained
practical ideas, still with a sort of creative though.
Buildings and towers were built with steel and iron beams and supports. Glass covered steel/iron
webs to create walls, large window, and sunroofs .
A famous architect from this time period is Alexandre Gustave Eiffel.
He built the Eiffel Tower, Bon MarchГѓ Department Store, The Nice
Observatory and The Garabit Bridge.
Following this period was the modern period. Many of the styles and ideas were carried to the
Modern period, and built into designs in a whole different perspective, as now there were different
architectures with different ideas and dreams.
Saint Peter s
Saint Peter s church is located in Vatican City, Rome, which is located in Italy. The architect Donato
Bramate designed it, and it was to embody the greatness of the present and the future…and
surpass all the other churches in the universe. (Julius II (1505 13)). Bramate had built the church to
represent the roman cross. It is known to one of the most concentrated pieces of Renaissance art.
It was created to replace the great basilica (temple), which had been designed by Constantine the
Great. This temple had been built over the apostle, St. Peter s grave.
Construction of the church began in 1507, and the materials used to create St. Peter s were

What Is The Theme Of Civilization And Savagery In Lord Of...
Lord of the Flies by William Golding, involves the theme about civilization and savagery, which
occurs throughout the novel. This story starts by when this British airplane crashes in the
middle of an island, and the boys that were in it realized that they had to work together. When
the boys first meet, they have assemblies and they choose a leader which is Ralph, one of the
main characters. Considering they have a leader, the plan after was to try to plant roles for
everyone, for example: getting food, building a shelter, so they could survive, while they were
in the island. But they were also trying to get a ship s attention by making a fire, so they could
get rescue. Some of the boys disagreed to the necessities they were required for this survival.

even they were part of killing the beast, who was not actually the beast, it was Simon. Jack has
also managed to punch Piggy in the face and break one lens of his glasses. This is further
indication of Jack s descent into savagery. He knowingly breaks Piggy s glasses, knowing that it
would affect his ability to survive. He giggled and flicked them while the boys laughed at his
reeking palms. Then Jack grabbed Maurice and rubbed the stuff [blood] over his cheeks (135).
After the boys kill the mother pig, they smear their faces with her blood. The blood becomes a
mask that distances the boys from the event. If they don t feel like themselves, their actions don t

Hellenes were the early inhabitants of Greece (in our time now, Greece is still officially known
as the Hellenic Republic, after the ancient Hellenes). From the Hellenes came the term
Hellenism, which was used to describe Greek language and culture; from that, Hellenists were
non Greeks who spoke Greek and lived according to Greek ways. Thanks largely to the grand
imperialistic accomplishments of the young Greek king/warlord Alexander the Great (a

whose genetic material has been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or

following benefits that GM food will bring: increase crop yields, lower cost of herbicide, and

The farmers are innocent in many cases, but they don t have enough money to fight in court, so
they can only admit and pay Monsanto. Monsanto contradict themselves because they insist the
crop has no difference form conventional natural varieties, but when it comes to patent, they say
its completely different and they are in patent. A significant number of research casts doubt on
Monsanto s argument. For example, a rat feeding research observed that after the consumption
of Bt corn, rats showed slight but dose related significant variations in growth for both sexes,
resulting in 3.3% decrease in weight for males and 3.7% increase for females. It also caused
malfunction of kidney and females s pregnancy. (Gilles Eric, Dominique and Joel) Another study
found the corn s Bt toxin in the blood of pregnant women and their babies, as well as in non

of toxin, but a process that genes are being changed. As the proverb goes, you are what you eat.

Music And Its Importance On The Human Brain

English IV, 6 Pd.
28 February,2015 Music And Its Importance On The Human Brain Music affects people of all
ages developmentally , intellectually and medically as well as it affects their social , personal
lives. In other words, music affects the way in which we think , behave and feel. Music tends to
have a positive effect on the transfer of learning. For example , learning to play an instrument
enhances the ability to remember words through enlargement of the left cranial temporal regions of
the brain. A study brought up by the Institute of Education at the University of London shows that
musically trained participants remembered 17 percent more verbal information then those without
musical training (Hallam 2012). Extensive active engagement with music induces cortical
reorganization producing functional changes in how the brain handles information. When this is
an occurrence in an early stage of development , usually in children and young adults, it may
produce permanent changes in the way information is being processed into the brain. These
changes display what exactly has been learned and how it has been learned. According to the
article, Transfer of cognitive learning from one domain to another depends on the similarities
between the processes involved, transfer can be near and far and it is stronger and more likely to
occur if its near (Hallam 2012). To continue with this aim, Salamon

The Election Of Andrew Jackson
With the election of Andrew Jackson, for the first time in American history, a common man built
his way up to earn the title of President of the United States. Jackson being of low birth had
particular significance because he went from rags to riches. During his presidency his affinity for
the common people did not change, thus Jackson tended to favor the rights of the common people
over what was constitutionally correct. Andrew Jacksonfrom such actions can be called the father
of American democracy because he set the precedent that later presidents followed: where he
campaigned and reached out to the people and set the notion that presidential policies ruled over
Congress because the president was elected by the people. Although, most would argue against
Jackson and his beliefs as president, it is evident that he always put the common people before
himself as can be seen in his presidential runs, the spoils system, the vetoing of the second
National Bank and the Indian Removal Act. The election process prior to 1824 focused more on
the Legislature over the people. It wasn t until 1824, when Jackson ran for president, that the
people had more of a say. In Methods of Electing Presidential Electors: 1816 to 1836 (Doc. 1), it
is to be noted that voting power is the same between the people and the legislature, however
Andrew Jackson s loss was the direct result of the Corrupt Bargain for which Jackson suspected
Henry Clay did. This was the event in which Clay became

Teaching Education And Student Teacher Relationships
The Concept of Learning
There are many methods to teaching in education and student teacher relationships are a very
important aspect in learning as well. Paulo Freire introduces us to two methods of education, the
first is the banking concept where he explains that students are merely containers to fill with
information and education is only for depositing methods into them without the students truly
understanding what they are learning. The second method is the problem posing method where the
teachers and students are both equal in the classroom and they teach each other. This concept is
aimed at challenging and testing their critical thinking. While David Bartholomae explores the
concept of teachers turning students into reader based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

According to Freire in the classroom, The student s records, memorizes, and repeats these phrases

Running Head: HISPANIC GROUPS AND DISCRIMINATION
Hispanic Groups and Discrimination
Abstract
This paper discusses the immigration of Hispanics to the United States in which they faced
prejudice, segregation and racism. We will discuss such topics as dual labor market, affirmative
actions, quotas, instructional discrimination, reverse discrimination, glass ceilings, glass walls and
glass escalators. Hispanic workers are among the fastest growing segments of the U.S. labor force,
said Jesse Caballero, Senior Career Advisor for empleosCB.com, a subsidiary of

Both services seek to ensure that, in terms of race and ethnicity, the group of officers
commissioned in the year 2000 roughly reflects the overall population: 12 percent African
American, 12 percent Hispanic, and 5 percent Asian. Department of the Navy officials point out
that this represents a significantly more aggressive goal than had been the case, when the focus
for comparison had been on college graduates; the more aggressive goal implies vigorous outreach
and other efforts. Moreover, the Navy and the Marine Corps have set specific year by year targets
for meeting the 12/12/5 goal. (1995) When taking affirmative action, one must be careful not to
establish quotas. This would start to become the glass ceiling, glass walls, or glass escalator. When
a corporation, military, or business starts to promote unqualified minorities to fill a quota, that is
just a bad and discriminatory as being racist or profiling. There has been great strides taken to
counter discrimination in all ethnic groups, but there is a long way ahead of society. I can identify
with the minority groups. A study was conducted by Alfred W. and Ruth G. Blumrosen that states,
We have reached two key findings that suggest that Hispanics continue to be seriously discriminated

The Pros And Cons Of Pornography And Prostitution
George Bernard Shaw once said pornographic novelist is one who exploits the sexual instinct as a
prostitute does. A legitimate sex novel elucidates it or brings out its poetry, tragedy, or comedy. In
other words, Shaw argues that pornography and prostitution is somewhat the same besides
pornography is considered legal while prostitution is illegal.
According to legal researchers, the headlines are constantly filled with new stories of politicians
quite literally caught with their pants down in scandals with prostitutes. This often raises the
question of why prostitution is not treated in the same way as pornography. Researchers asked, why
is sex for money okay in one setting and not another ? The distinction between the two is straight
forward. The finding of porn performances constitutes acting subject to the artistic expression
protections, which is the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Although, the
distinction is that porn stars are paid to act, and prostitutes are paid for sex.
Researchers made it clear that performers may engage in sex as part of their roles, but that does
not count as sex for hire . It was also brought to the attention of researchers Sex during creating a
movie or a photo is an expression protected under the First Amendment. Generally, the one paying
for the sex is also different than the one receiving the benefit of that act, further distancing it from a
strictly sex for money arrangement . Some free of speech parties argue that even first person
movies should be afforded this protection, though no significant cases have gone to court .
Reporters state, while recorded sexual performances have been relatively protected, live
performances are much less so. Compared with sexually explicit media, live sex shows have very
little protection under the law, though the Supreme Court in Oregon did overturn two state laws
concerning sex shows on free speech and expression grounds in 2005 .
The turning point in the porn and prostitution debate occurred in the 1980 s in California.
Prosecutors argued that an adult film producer named Harold Freeman was guilty of pimping
because he had hired five women to perform sex acts for a movie called Caught from Behind II.

of quality in a manufacturing process and environment are many as you are aware. But the 3
primary costs that we should review on a more regular basis to assure we are creating the most
cost effective and quality products are the following: Appraisal, Prevention and Failure, and
failure costs should be looked at as internal failure and external failure. Appraisal costs can be
defined as The cost of activities designed to ensure quality or uncover defects (Stevenson, 2008,
p.421) Trade offs of these appraisal costs are internal costs that are incurred when we stop
production of a product to check for defects in production process, material, or... Show more content

Internal failures happen for a variety of reasons, defective materials, incorrect machine settings,
faulty equipment, carelessness and others. The trade off cost for fixing these types of failures
would be cost of additional production time, scrap materials and rework of inadequate products,
investigation costs into the root cause of the issues as well as workers salaries to not only do the
investigation and rework if needed, but the salaries of the employees that are not able to run the
production lines to produce items. The other failure cost is External and these are failures that are
discovered by the consumer once they have purchased the product. These can carry a much higher
cost when found by the consumers. These costs can include Warranty repairs or replacements,
costs of having a customer care center or call center to deal with customer complaints, discounts
to customers for current or future products and Legal action if the failure of a product caused
some type of personal injury. Based on the 3 types of quality costs that have been discussed and
reviewed above, I recommend that we look at doing more appraisals and inspections during the
manufacturing process, this will limit the number of design changes that happen early in the
process but it should help in cutting down our external failure costs and help limit

In modern times, a couple usually does not plan to get married less than a week after meeting. Yet
in the small Italian town of Messina in William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing, the
young Claudio and Hero plan to get married as soon as possible. That is, until Claudio is fed false
information that Hero is not a virgin and slanders her at the altar. During the Elizabethan erawhen
this play was written, most female roles and women in general were treated without respect as Hero

important play in the Elizabethan era because it dealt with social class boundaries and the roles of

Elizabethan women were being taught that they were practically property of men. They could
be forced into arranged marriages in order to create bonds between families and were taught to
be dependent on their male relatives (Alchin). Social class and one s status in society could also
coincide with how they were treated on an everyday basis (Alchin). With these many events that
would change the world forever came changes in the theater that would change it forever, too.
James Burbage, a prominent Elizabethan actor, built the first Elizabethan playhouse and called
it the Theatre (Yancey 25). The Theatre, built in 1576, would go on to set a precedent in the
design of all playhouses of the era (Senn). The building was probably round or octagonal and had
no ceiling so as to let in natural light since no efficient artificial lighting had been invented at this
point in time (Yancey 25). Because of the need for natural light during plays, most performances
took place during the afternoon (Yancey 29). On the inside of the Theatre, the stage extended to
be a raised rectangle that took up about half of the ground floor (Yancey 30). Above it was a
balcony on which acting could occur, such as the balcony scene from Shakespeare s Romeo and
Juliet (Yancey 31). Finally, past the back end of the stage was a concealed room called the Tiring
House that served as storage for props and a dressing room for any actors during a performance
(Senn).

Essay
Swift s Gulliver s Travel and Voltaire s Candide
Swift s Gulliver s Travel and Voltaire s Candide are typical literature works during the
Enlightenment period. Both authors use satire in their works. Satire is literary form which means
irony. Therefore, they have some similarities. They both want to expose human vices through
satiric tone. Due to different personal styles, there are many differences between two novels.
Two novels use satire to criticize human weakness. In Gulliver s Travel , Swift makes up a horse
society Houyhnhnm and a brutal animal Yahoo. Gulliver has to admit that human beings are

makes reader think over the purpose of his criticism.
On the contrary, Voltaire s Candide is full of black humor. Although Candide goes through a lot of
ridiculous circumstances and suffers a lot, the unexpected content makes his voyage funny. In
Gulliver Travel , the observation of horse society and comparison between yahoo and human are
important components of Swift s satire. In Candide , every character expresses the satiric tone of
Voltaire. Pangloss, teacher of Candide, always believe that Everything is for the best in this best of

The inspiration led to the fabrication of many great movies, which wasn t achievable until the 20th
century. Before cinema was the prevalent method of sharing appreciation and spilling emotion for a
specific subject, art portrayed what would fly through our minds such as the many interpretations of

The film that surpassed all my expectations and gave me exactly what I wanted to see was Kenneth
Branagh s Hamlet. The way I would picture King Hamlets great castle of Denmark came up
exactly the way I thought it would. The 1800 s setting presented in this film gave it more of a
professional feel to it and I loved the vibrant colours throughout the movie. So even though the
play is suppose to give off a gloomy atmosphere, dealing with the concept of suicide, the vibrancy
of every scene would grab your attention away from the themes for a few seconds. It lets you
take in the beautiful scenery and how the play should ve been set up if it did take place in the real
world. Scenes such as the burial of Ophelia, where the imagery and setting change from the
graveyard to Hamlets old memories of Yorick, the contrasts between such vibrant scenes and darker
ones mix and interlace beautifully. This is something that neither Zeffirelli nor Almereyda were
able to accomplish in their films. In Zaferelli s Hamlet the imagery presented throughout was not
more than what the settings it could not portray. It didn t properly grasp more than the generic
medieval atmosphere. It would ve been a lot more successful to include more clips of what life
would ve been like for Hamlet and the people of Denmark. In Almereyda s version it wasn t
really his fault for not presenting more imagery of the play because it was set in modern times, and

Income Inequality and Standard of Living in the United States
A characteristic of man that separates him from the majority of the animal world is his organization
of social and economic systems. Man, however, retains traits of his evolutionary ancestors in the
form of self preservation and greediness. While many political, economic, and social systems try to
eradicate this form of natural selection, capitalism and related economic structures preserve social
inequality in many forms. Historically, this preservation of financial inequality has achieved a
higher standard of living generally than systems originally formed and employed to achieve just
that.

Many privately owned companies exist in capitalist societies. The population is not vast enough to
carry all of these companies.
Everyone needs a house. Rich people poor people; all people are included. This is a problem,
because housing costs a great deal of money. Poor people that can barely afford food and
clothing also have a hard time finding reasonable housing. As a result, some live in unsafe and
unhealthy conditions that are badly in need of repair. Poor people live in the central city for two
different reasons. First, the farther away that you get from the central business district, the higher
your transportation costs to get to your job (assuming that the job is located in the CBD). If you
can not afford to commute to your work, you will be unable to keep your job, making you worse
off economically. Therefore, you would chose to locate your residence close to your place of
employment (closer to the CBD) in order to reduce your transportation costs. IF you live close
enough to your place of employment, you may not need to use any form of transportation other
then your feet, which doesn t cost you anything but your time.
The second reason has to do with where new houses are built. New homes are built on land that was
previously undeveloped, usually located on the outer edge of the residential district, furthest away
from the central business district. The wealthiest people move into these new homes, leaving the
upper middle

As they say What we measure shapes what we collectively strive to pursue and what we pursue

on comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning. Orthodontic treatment planning poses

The Theory Of Behavioral Learning Theory
B. F. Skinner is one of the top psychologist who invented the radical behaviorism and critical
psychiatry. B. F. Skinner believed that behavior is maintained from one condition to another
through similar or same consequences across situations. Skinner believed that actions followed by a
positive effect tend to be repeated, while actions followed by negative effect were not. I believe the
behaviorist theory states that individuals develop certain behavior traits based off of their reaction
to certain events that they are presented with. This means that people act certain ways because of
how they handled situations that have occurred in their life. Introduction to Behavioral learning
theory. For example, inside the classroom, teachers could use this theory to help children behave
correctly and have a positive outlook on their schoolwork. By understanding the theory, teachers
would recognize that students need and want positive reinforcement. As a result of giving positive
reinforcement, students would continue to display the desired behavior. Skinner said that radical
behaviorism emphasizes a functional level of analysis that may be contrasted with mainstream
psychology s emphasis on essentialism. Behaviorism is a theory mostly developed by B.F. Skinner.
Three basic assumptions are held to be true. Learning is manifested by the change in behavior, the
environment shapes behavior and the reinforcement essential in explaining the process of learning.

Objections to Descartes’ Interactionism
In the following essay I will be offering some objections to Descartes interactionism as is primarily
represented in his works The Passions of the Soul, Part I and Correspondence with
Princess Elisabeth, Concerning the Union of Mind and Body. I will start by describing the basic
features of how Descartes notion of interactionism works. Namely, that the pineal gland is the
principle seat of the mind because it is the only singular part of the brain. The pineal gland also has
a range of movements, which correspond to the body and to the soul to the capacity that it can be
thrusted by either the soul or the animal spirits. After describing Descartes interactionism, I will
offer three objections that I view to provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to Descartes reply, in the Passions of the Soul he uses the word impulse when
describing the movements of the pineal gland and gives the impression that many of these impulses
would be very slight and thus unnoticeable due to the fact that they only occur if the opposite
impulse
(from either the soul or the animal spirits) is stronger than itself (Passions, 366). This leads me to
believe he would respond to the first objection by saying something to the effect of the movements
or impulses being so small they are undetectable (at least by the technology available to him).
My second objection applies to the plausibility of a causal interaction between an immaterial
soul and a material brain under the currently accepted laws of physics and more specifically of
the law of the conservation of energy. As it is understood, energy is neither created nor
destroyed. If this is the case, when the immaterial mind causally interacts with the material pineal
gland, where does this energy come from? This energy is not simply created for that would be
against the laws of physics. If it is not created though, it must be coming from somewhere and is
likely being stored in a similar place. The answer does not occur to me to describe where an
immaterial mind would store its energy so as to causally interact with a material brain.
Descartes possible reply to this might come from The Passions of the Soul in where he describes
the soul as being

territorial conflicts were not uncommon. This ties into nationalism because as these countries
gained confidence, they spread their influence throughout the less developed world. Another
movement that could be attributed to the start of WWI is the industrial revolution, It started in
England but eventually spread throughout Europe and even to the new world. In this movement,
many new technologies were created, and the steam powered engine was a driving force for many
of them. These new technologies enabled societies to accomplish things they couldn t do before,
and do things faster than before. Inevitably, weapons like tanks, submarines, biplanes, and poison
gas also came out of this, and these are the weapons that did the talking before and during the

The Development of the Science of †Race’ Essay
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the implications of the thematic analysis of the subject
field. It connects the themes of the interviews with the literature on racial stereotypes and it s
impact on individuals and the sport they participate in.
The development of the science of race is regarded within the main literatures to have emerged
during the late eighteenth and nineteenth century (Gouldburg, 1990). People where trying to
explain human differences and development, which gave way for a verity of racial classifications
and racial stereotypes (Gouldburg, 1990), Gouldburg (1990: 266) states this transformed into a
pseudo biological property of communal life , as race became linked with traits and reflections of
identity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear to see from the interviews that this notion of black superiority when it comes to sport, is
engrained into society, an example of this comes from P6 when asked what is the dominant race
within your sport? replied every sport is dominated by black people . Many of the interviewees from
both sports state, that when you are younger you do not notice the colour of peoples skin. From
this it can be said as you mature through society it is then that racial stereotyping is more
apparent, hence racial stereotyping is a social construct (Gouldburg, 1990). This is not a modern
phenomenon; people have been placing values on skin colour based on whom they have interacted
with for hundreds of years, this dates as far back to the Tran Atlantic slave trade in the 1500s
(Jablonski, 2009).
The normalising of racial stereotypes can lead to prejudice thoughts and actions. An example of
this is P6 and P7 that play basketball state that white people are usually only good at the shooting
roles within a team, P6 even went as far to say if a white person could not shoot then they would
not be allowed on the team. The notion that white people can only take on the less athletic but more
tactical or skilful roles in the team are not

Time Management Is A Misnomer
Time Management
In many respects the term time management is a misnomer. After all, it implies that in some way
or another we can control time, which is simply impossible to do. Each one of us has exactly the
same amount of time in a given day and none of us get a do over. Some people feel that they are
constantly under pressure, going from pillar to post as they try to accomplish what they need to
do. They feel that they re constantly under stress and never able to catch up and consequently
these people do struggle to achieve what they re trying to achieve and become successful.
However, other people seem to march forward relentlessly with their plans and strangely enough
never appear to be watching the clock at all. We need to find out what their secret is and what their
approach to time management is too.
One of the first things that you need to commit to when learning time management is change. You
are going to have to look at your entire life in a different light and become very sophisticated when
it comes to allocation, delegation and decision making. You re going to find that your interpretation
of time management differs significantly from that of other people. After all, remember that a

You don t need to be a slave to the old way of doing things or to established systems if they
simply do not make sense. Critically assess these old systems and don t be afraid to change
them. When it comes to old habits, checking e mail has got to be one of the worst. If you have
your e mail set up so that it automatically delivers new e mails to you every 30 minutes or so,
switch off that automation to start with. Bury the habit of checking your e mail first thing in the
morning and automatically diving into the process of putting out fires associated with incoming e
mail requests. Allocate a specific time each day to check e mail and continuously question any

Right To Bear Arms Essay
The right to own a fire arm is a currently a controversial topic in the United States, with many pros
and cons to either side. However, it is a constitutional right that the Founding Fathers gave the
citizens for a myriad of reasons. By taking away this right from the people, it is a violation of
their constitutional rights and limits their freedoms, which goes against everything our country is
founded on. One reason why citizens should be allowed to bear arms is that owning a fire arm
gives owners protection in the event that an individual intends to do harm. Another reason, is that
farmers need guns for their way of life. Lastly, having a gun enables you to defend the country in
the event that we are invaded. Owning a fire arm is especially important for self defense in the
event that a an individual has come to do harm. Having a gun gives... Show more content on

It is very probable that if the United States were to be invaded and the majority of the troops were
deployed or on the other side of the country, it would make the most sense for there to be a well
regulated militia of the citizens to rise up and defend the country. The Founding Fathers included
this right in the second amendment so that in this event it would be possible for ordinary citizens to
defend themselves, just as our Founding Fathers had done in the Revolutionary War. It is also
important to have a well regulated militia so that in the case that the United States Government
turns into a tyranny citizens have the means to protect themselves, as did our noble forefathers in
the Revolutionary War. Guns have a special place in the history of the United States. Much of
American gun culture stems from the frequent use to establish and defend the country. (Massie,
30). Ergo it is important that Americans continue to have this basic right that built the United States

Archetypal Criticism In In The Time Of The Butterflies By...
The Deeper Meaning
An American poet once stated, Great literature is simply language charged with meaning to the
utmost possible degree (Pound). Every piece of literature has an impactful underlying meaning
and can be interpreted into universal symbols, motifs, and patterns. Archetypal Criticism is a
theory based off common myths, images, and symbols in literature. The definition of an
archetype can be defined as a very typical example of a certain person or thing (Davidson). With
that being said, readers can apply Archetypal Criticism to In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia
Alvarez. Alvarez uses common character types, like the hero and the villain, and also uses the
symbol of butterflies in her novel.

M. Cutter Edwards, an Entomologist, states, Butterflies are deep and powerful representations
of life. [...] Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope,
and life (Edwards). The term butterfly was the sisters code name for the movement. The
butterfly was a symbol for them, not only because that is what they were called, but also
because they symbolized what it meant to be a butterfly. The Mirabal sisters changed from
being little children following their parents, to individuals leading a revolution and having other
people follow them. When Minerva was young, she stated, I had thought it was caused by the
bandages I had started tying around my chest so my breasts won t grow (Alvarez 23). She put
bandages around her breast so Trujillo wouldn t take her to be one of his ladies. Minerva started

Social Observation Of The Southlands Mall In Centennial
Social Observations I decided to go the Southlands Mall in Centennial, to observe people
interactions. I choose to head over to the mall around 11 am on Friday, September 15th. This
was a great time for me because my son was in school and I knew I needed at least two hours
where I could just sit and observe people without any distractions. When I was observing, I was
looking for norms of behavior and American values. To Begin, let me give you a visual of the
mall. The Southlands mall is a large outdoor mall that s filled with shops, diners and
entertainment. I thought I would sit near Town Square which is in the center of the mall. I
could see majority of the store from here. There were a lot of mothers out watching their
children play in the water fountain and at the park. Norms are how values tell us to behave
(Conley, 2017, pg. 90). They are like rules or guideline to what kind of behavior is acceptable.
Norms can be informal or formal. Informal norms are unspoken for example, as I observed my
surroundings I saw children taking turns going down the slide. I also saw families standing in line
getting Pretzels. These are norms that are not written down but we learn them when we are young.

with others. I saw women wearing Coach and Michael Kors bags. People were walking around on
their IPhones, which we all know these items are not cheap. I also saw tons of women leaving

Essay on Baudrillard and the Matrix
In 1999 Larry and Andy Wachowski wrote and directed an American science fiction action film
called The Matrix. The movie depicted a future where many humans might perceive is real, is
actually a simulated reality. The Wachowski brothers made many explicit references in their film
based on the work of French sociologist Jean Baudrillard. In Jean Baudrillard s essay entitled
Simulacra and Simulations he mentions in his essay how society has replaced all reality and
meaning with representation of symbols and signs. Baudrillard starts off with an example of

He tells Neo Welcome to the desert of the real, desert of the real is a quote from Baudrillard s
essay that explains after the simulation has been taken away, we are left with our real reality, the
reality that is decaying, leaving us with not much left.
The reality itself erodes to the point that it becomes a desert (Sparknotes). In this scene they are
in a simulated reality with nothing but a blank, white room, with a sofa, and a television set.
Morpheus has New York, as they perceive it, in the year of 1999 displayed on the television. It is
shown as a busy, bright, a vibrant city. Then he switches the channel to how the world really is
today, the year closer to 2199. How the world really is in the year 2199 is nothing but a
depressing, broken down, apocalyptic wasteland (The Film Journal). It would seem that the
Wachowski brother s aim to illustrate Baudrillard s concept in The Matrix was well put together.
They made it very clear that their portayal of The Matrix is a simulation that derived from a real
reality that is no longer rational. In otherwords, now that Neo has awoken to the truth, he could no
longer go back to what he thought is real and see it the same as before.
Someone who feigns an illness can simply go to bed and pretend he is ill. Someone who simulates
an illness produces in himself some of the symptoms (Littre). Thus, feigning or dissimulating leaves
the reality principle intact: the difference

As the revolutionary time period continued to surge, the Haitian revolted against the French as
giving way for political independence and the freedom of the inhabitants, however the economy
diminished for many countries did not want to trade with the Haitians. With the success in the
Haitian revolution, the Haitians gained political freedom from the French and created their own
government in 1804. Not only did the Haitians gain political freedom, but they also abolished
slaveryfor the citizens and gained the right to be a free man and a citizen. Since the slave revolution

The Haitian idea of the revolution originated with the hearing of the success of the French
Revolution and the creation of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen (Doc 2). Since Haiti
was under the rule of France, word broke out to the slaves that the French overcame the
government, giving hope for the slaves under their rule. The revolution leaders gathered to affirm
their commitment to one another at a voodoo ritual, (Doc 5) as voodoo was a combination of
African and Haitian culture. This meeting occurred on August 14, 1791 and a week later, the
revolution against the French began. After their success of the battle against the French, the
Haitian leader, Jean Jacques Dessalines, spoke to the Haitian people on January 1st, 1804 on the
gain of their independence. Jean Jacques Dessalines states we must at last live independent or die

  • 2. The Friendship of Gilgamesh and Enkidu Essay The Epic of Gilgamesh is a historic story of the king of Uruk, Gilgamesh. The story depicts the short lived friendship of Gilgamesh and Enkidu. The story begins as Shamat the harlot seduces Enkidu and convinces him to go to the city of Uruk and meet Gilgamesh. From that moment on, the two were very close. They planned a trip to the forest of cedars to defeat the monster known as Humbabaso that Gilgamesh could show his power to the citizens of Uruk. However, Enkidutried vainly to dissuade (18) Gilgamesh in going to the forest. Despite Enkidu s plead, the two continued on their voyage to the forest where Humbaba lives. Utanapishtim himself is living an eternal life. He sets off on this journey with the death of his close friend Enkidu still weighing heavily upon him. On his quest to search for this form of unreachable eternal life, Gilgamesh learned some lessons. Utanapishtim gives him some good advice about death and how no one sees death, no one sees the face of death, no one [hears] the voice of death, but cruel death cuts off mankind. (82) Utsanapishtim goes on to state, they did not reveal the time of death. (83) Gilgamesh is given a challenge to see if he was worthy enough of eternal life. The challenge was to stay awake for several days without an ounce of sleep; if he couldn t pass this challenge then he couldn t expect to live forever. Unfortunately Gilgamesh fails the task by sleeping the entire week. Utsanapishtim gives his a rejuvenation plant in his last will to help Gilgamesh. However, the plant is taken away by a snake. • 3. Teaching Style Of The Instructor Each teacher is different no matter what the course subject is. When I find myself in a new class with a new professor I seem to notice the little details that make up the teaching style of the instructor. In total I have four classes all of which are part of Chattahoochee technical College. Two of those classes take place at the Paulding Campus and the other two take place at the North Metro campus. I take my American Government class at the North Metro Campus every Tuesdays and Thursdays. Every Monday and Wednesday I go to the Paulding Campus to take College Algebra. These two professors differ in more ways than just the subject of their course. My American government teacher is pretty cool. He has a very fun way of teaching. By cracking jokes and making cheesy remarks on every chapter, he always succeeds at making his class an interesting one. Every lecture does not even seem like one. I always look forward to sitting in the front of his class ready to learn everything. However, my college algebra professor is, with all due respect, a more old schooled instructor. He does crack a few jokes from time to time but he s mostly serious. He is very focused because in math one flaw, no matter how small, can cause the answer to be wrong. His way of teaching is quite interesting as well; not only does he teach the class the easiest way to solve a problem, he also teaches the class the harder way. Every student is different so the line between the easy way and the hard way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A distinguishing feature is the very board spectrum of fragrances ranging from red fruits and animal notes to noble hints of leather. Palate: The wine s aromatic richness and complexity are confirmed on the palate. The young wines are supported by powerful structure and remarkable persistence, developing in strength over the years. Older wines acquire a rich, smooth, silky character in perfect harmony with their aromatic expression. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Uw-M Personal Statement I have applied to the University of Wisconsin Madison mainly because of its excellent business program and its ability to place a large amounts of students into their desired careers when they graduate. Personally, I would love to be a part of the Wisconsin Undergraduate (BBA) Program and major in Finance, Investment, and Banking. Seeing the tremendous job placements, the challenging course work, and interesting culture that surrounds UW M, I cannot wait to begin my studies there. First of all, UW M s business program is widely regarded as one of the best business schools in the United States. I am also interested in how the club decide on investments and how it allocates capital in varying sectors. Aside from this, Investment Banking Club and Taiwanese Undergraduate Student Organization seems attractive to me as well. The Investment Banking Club is an excellent opportunity to advance my chance of securing an opportunity at a reputable firm in the future. The multitudes of resources provided by the club such as banking interview training, valuation training, and networking trips sounds enticing to me. I am very impressed by what the club has done and accomplished. Therefore, it would be an honor for me to be a part of it, and given the chance, I would even want to hold a leadership position at the club. Promising a new twist on the familiar Quafe flavor, the product came with a cluster wide advertisement campaign. Portrayed as a wonder tonic , the drink was rife with controversy from the very first advertisements released. Accordingly, the marketingof the drink may have directly invoked the attackon what was the largest gathering of celebrities at the time. The first advertisement to cause a stir was released to the public of the Amarr Empire. Displaying St. Junip s Cathedral in Dam Torsad, among Amarr Prime s oldest landmarks, the advertisement revolved around a group of Amarr theology students. One of the students opens a can of Quafe Ultra and the study quickly devolved into a raucous party. The cathedral spire was portrayed in a less than savory light from the resulting party. The reason for which I believe the title has a literal meaning is that the author briefly mentions about some secondary characters, who in one way or another, are part of the story but are no longer alive. Some of these characters are the following: Pat Morkan (Brother of Kate and Julia), Ellen Morkan Conroy (Mother of Gabriel), T.J Conroy (Member of the Dublin Port and Docks Board, and Father of Gabriel), Patrick Morkan (Owner of a starch mill, and Father of Kate and Julia), and, especially, Michael Furey (Gretta s first lover who died for the love of her). Comparing The Interlopers And What Of This Goldfish In the stories The Interlopers and What of this Goldfish, Would you wish? , they show that it is important to accept others that are different from yourself by proving that you need to know someone before you judge them and comprehend someone s culture and background and who they are in order to accept them. In each story, it is shown that it is very important to get all the information before you can accept someone, even when they re from another country or even right down the street from you. Collectively, both stories show sacrifice of ignorance and the gain of knowledge is a huge part of acceptance. In the story The Interlopers , we find two men, Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym, who have held a grudge against one another over a plot of land and hated each other for years because the other intevened with the land they wanted. Designing a foolproof security for ad hoc network is a challenging task due to its unique characteristics such as, lack of central authority, frequent topology changes, rapid node mobility, shared radio channel and limited availability of resources The wireless networks use air through the operation of a communications protocol. For synchronization, wireless networks employ a carrier sense protocol similar to the common Ethernet standard. This protocol enables a group of wireless computers to share the same frequency and space. While the term wireless network may technically be used to refer to any type of network that is wireless, the term is most commonly used to refer to a telecommunications network whose interconnections between nodes is implemented without the use of wires, such as a computer network (which is a type of communications network). The Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has been involved in the development of wireless LAN standards for the last seven years. Finally IEEE has evolved with a version of standard to be used for wireless networks named as IEEE 802.11 in 1997. Wireless networks refer to those networks that make use of radio waves or microwaves in order to establish communication between the devices.

  • 13. Imperial Expansion in Global Asia 1400 to 1800 Imperial Expansion in Global Asia, 1400 to 1800 The early modern era, roughly around 1400 to 1800, was significantly marked by empire expansions. Asian empires like Timur in Central Eurasia, the Ming and Qing, as well as the Mughals, Ottomans, and Safavids expanded their territories through military conquest and commercial penetration. As they established political control over much more vast tracts of land, new commercial networks and culture interactions were also emerged. Also, it was a time of global imperial expansion. Asia was connected to the broader global interacting patterns with the increasing involvement of western Europeans. The Ming (1368 1644) and later the Qing (1644 1911) dynasties of China expanded broadly across central Asia into Mongolia, Turkestan, and Tibet. The Ming dynasty put a considerable emphasis on oceanic exploration. A dramatic example of the Ming s prowess at the time can be seen in the expansive voyages of Zheng He. He commanded the Ming dynasty s fleet of immense trading vessels on expeditions ranging as far as Africa between 1405 and 1423, helping to extend Chinese maritime and commercial influence throughout the regions bordering the Indian Ocean. His Muslim faith and prestigious position in government reminds us of the ethnic and religious diversity of the vast Chinese empire. Later in the Qing dynasty, China undertook a territory expansion beyond its boundary to control vast, multicultural, multi climatic realm with centralizing state ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He built the Eiffel Tower, Bon MarchГѓ Department Store, The Nice Observatory and The Garabit Bridge. Following this period was the modern period. Many of the styles and ideas were carried to the Modern period, and built into designs in a whole different perspective, as now there were different architectures with different ideas and dreams. Saint Peter s Saint Peter s church is located in Vatican City, Rome, which is located in Italy. The architect Donato Bramate designed it, and it was to embody the greatness of the present and the future…and surpass all the other churches in the universe. (Julius II (1505 13)). Bramate had built the church to represent the roman cross. It is known to one of the most concentrated pieces of Renaissance art. When the boys first meet, they have assemblies and they choose a leader which is Ralph, one of the main characters. Then Jack grabbed Maurice and rubbed the stuff [blood] over his cheeks (135). After the boys kill the mother pig, they smear their faces with her blood. Partida Ms.Ponder English IV, 6 Pd. 28 February,2015 Music And Its Importance On The Human Brain Music affects people of all ages developmentally , intellectually and medically as well as it affects their social , personal lives. In other words, music affects the way in which we think , behave and feel. Music tends to have a positive effect on the transfer of learning. For example , learning to play an instrument enhances the ability to remember words through enlargement of the left cranial temporal regions of the brain. A study brought up by the Institute of Education at the University of London shows that musically trained participants remembered 17 percent more verbal information then those without musical training (Hallam 2012). Extensive active engagement with music induces cortical reorganization producing functional changes in how the brain handles information. When this is an occurrence in an early stage of development , usually in children and young adults, it may produce permanent changes in the way information is being processed into the brain. These changes display what exactly has been learned and how it has been learned. According to the article, Transfer of cognitive learning from one domain to another depends on the similarities between the processes involved, transfer can be near and far and it is stronger and more likely to occur if its near (Hallam 2012). Jackson being of low birth had particular significance because he went from rags to riches. During his presidency his affinity for the common people did not change, thus Jackson tended to favor the rights of the common people over what was constitutionally correct. Andrew Jacksonfrom such actions can be called the father of American democracy because he set the precedent that later presidents followed: where he campaigned and reached out to the people and set the notion that presidential policies ruled over Congress because the president was elected by the people. Although, most would argue against Jackson and his beliefs as president, it is evident that he always put the common people before himself as can be seen in his presidential runs, the spoils system, the vetoing of the second National Bank and the Indian Removal Act. The election process prior to 1824 focused more on the Legislature over the people. It wasn t until 1824, when Jackson ran for president, that the people had more of a say. In Methods of Electing Presidential Electors: 1816 to 1836 (Doc. 1), it is to be noted that voting power is the same between the people and the legislature, however Andrew Jackson s loss was the direct result of the Corrupt Bargain for which Jackson suspected Henry Clay did. Teaching Education And Student Teacher Relationships The Concept of Learning There are many methods to teaching in education and student teacher relationships are a very important aspect in learning as well. Paulo Freire introduces us to two methods of education, the first is the banking concept where he explains that students are merely containers to fill with information and education is only for depositing methods into them without the students truly understanding what they are learning. The second method is the problem posing method where the teachers and students are both equal in the classroom and they teach each other. Freire argues that students are objects and that they do not truly understand what they are learning because they do not have the capability of creative learning in the classroom. According to Freire in the classroom, The student s records, memorizes, and repeats these phrases without perceiving what four times four really means (257). A legitimate sex novel elucidates it or brings out its poetry, tragedy, or comedy. In other words, Shaw argues that pornography and prostitution is somewhat the same besides pornography is considered legal while prostitution is illegal. According to legal researchers, the headlines are constantly filled with new stories of politicians quite literally caught with their pants down in scandals with prostitutes. This often raises the question of why prostitution is not treated in the same way as pornography. Researchers asked, why is sex for money okay in one setting and not another ? The distinction between the two is straight forward. The finding of porn performances constitutes acting subject to the artistic expression protections, which is the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Although, the distinction is that porn stars are paid to act, and prostitutes are paid for sex. Researchers made it clear that performers may engage in sex as part of their roles, but that does not count as sex for hire . It was also brought to the attention of researchers Sex during creating a movie or a photo is an expression protected under the First Amendment. Generally, the one paying for the sex is also different than the one receiving the benefit of that act, further distancing it from a strictly sex for money arrangement . Some free of speech parties argue that even first person movies should be afforded this protection, though no significant cases have gone to court . Reporters state, while recorded sexual performances have been relatively protected, live performances are much less so. Compared with sexually explicit media, live sex shows have very little protection under the law, though the Supreme Court in Oregon did overturn two state laws concerning sex shows on free speech and expression grounds in 2005 . The turning point in the porn and prostitution debate occurred in the 1980 s in California. Prosecutors argued that an adult film producer named Harold Freeman was guilty of pimping because he had hired five women to perform sex acts for a movie called Caught from Behind II. ... But the 3 primary costs that we should review on a more regular basis to assure we are creating the most cost effective and quality products are the following: Appraisal, Prevention and Failure, and failure costs should be looked at as internal failure and external failure. The trade off cost for fixing these types of failures would be cost of additional production time, scrap materials and rework of inadequate products, investigation costs into the root cause of the issues as well as workers salaries to not only do the investigation and rework if needed, but the salaries of the employees that are not able to run the production lines to produce items. The other failure cost is External and these are failures that are discovered by the consumer once they have purchased the product. These can carry a much higher cost when found by the consumers. These costs can include Warranty repairs or replacements, costs of having a customer care center or call center to deal with customer complaints, discounts to customers for current or future products and Legal action if the failure of a product caused some type of personal injury. Based on the 3 types of quality costs that have been discussed and reviewed above, I recommend that we look at doing more appraisals and inspections during the manufacturing process, this will limit the number of design changes that happen early in the process but it should help in cutting down our external failure costs and help limit ... With these many events that would change the world forever came changes in the theater that would change it forever, too. James Burbage, a prominent Elizabethan actor, built the first Elizabethan playhouse and called it the Theatre (Yancey 25). The Theatre, built in 1576, would go on to set a precedent in the design of all playhouses of the era (Senn). The building was probably round or octagonal and had no ceiling so as to let in natural light since no efficient artificial lighting had been invented at this point in time (Yancey 25). Reflecting on this case, Fisher s affirmative action of feeling like she was denied, because of her race is understandable. Her denial of admittance brought light into the subject for not only UT, but for other universities in how their decision making processes can affect students personally by lowering their self esteem and it also diminishes a university ... • 38. The Theory Of Behavioral Learning Theory B. F. Skinner is one of the top psychologist who invented the radical behaviorism and critical psychiatry. B. F. Skinner believed that behavior is maintained from one condition to another through similar or same consequences across situations. Skinner believed that actions followed by a positive effect tend to be repeated, while actions followed by negative effect were not. I believe the behaviorist theory states that individuals develop certain behavior traits based off of their reaction to certain events that they are presented with. This means that people act certain ways because of how they handled situations that have occurred in their life. Introduction to Behavioral learning theory. For example, inside the classroom, teachers could use this theory to help children behave correctly and have a positive outlook on their schoolwork. By understanding the theory, teachers would recognize that students need and want positive reinforcement. As a result of giving positive reinforcement, students would continue to display the desired behavior. Skinner said that radical behaviorism emphasizes a functional level of analysis that may be contrasted with mainstream psychology s emphasis on essentialism. Behaviorism is a theory mostly developed by B.F. Skinner. Three basic assumptions are held to be true. Learning is manifested by the change in behavior, the environment shapes behavior and the reinforcement essential in explaining the process of learning. For behaviorism learning ... The centre of an atom is called the nucleus, it is made of two particles: protons, which carry a positive charge and neutrons, which have no charge. Electron carry a negative charge and it is outside of a nucleus. The attraction of these negative electrons to the positive nucleus is what keep the atomtogether. All the atom of the given elements has a specific number of protons and neutrons, but sometimes it will have too many of those and become radioactive and an unstable atom is called a radioisotope. After the earth quake on June 2011, scientists measured that 5,000 to 15,000 terabecquerels of radioactive material was reaching the ocean. Since the incident in 2011, scientists measured levels of radioactivity in fish and other sea life. Several species of fish from this area had caesium levels that exceeded Japan s regulatory limit for seafood. Scientists say the groundwater leaks could become worse, but warn against drawing conclusions about the impacts on sea life before peer reviewed studies are completed. However gamma can be extremely dangerous because they are a very powerful source of power, if they delivered in an unmonitored and uncontrolled way they can kill humans, animals and plants. Gamma rays however can also disrupt the physical properties of materials. They can cause plastics and steel to become brittle and to eventually break. In conclusion, radioactivity has both negative and positive aspects. Negative impacts include the radiation leaking and damage healthy organism or cell during treatment while positive aspects consist of many different uses in medical science, security and daily life items. I support the uses of radioactivity because the positive aspects outweigh the negative aspects and I believe that in the future the radioactivity can be used positively in many other ... • 41. Objections to Descartes’ Interactionism In the following essay I will be offering some objections to Descartes interactionism as is primarily represented in his works The Passions of the Soul, Part I and Correspondence with Princess Elisabeth, Concerning the Union of Mind and Body. I will start by describing the basic features of how Descartes notion of interactionism works. Namely, that the pineal gland is the principle seat of the mind because it is the only singular part of the brain. The pineal gland also has a range of movements, which correspond to the body and to the soul to the capacity that it can be thrusted by either the soul or the animal spirits. After describing Descartes interactionism, I will offer three objections that I view to provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to Descartes reply, in the Passions of the Soul he uses the word impulse when describing the movements of the pineal gland and gives the impression that many of these impulses would be very slight and thus unnoticeable due to the fact that they only occur if the opposite impulse (from either the soul or the animal spirits) is stronger than itself (Passions, 366). This leads me to believe he would respond to the first objection by saying something to the effect of the movements or impulses being so small they are undetectable (at least by the technology available to him). My second objection applies to the plausibility of a causal interaction between an immaterial soul and a material brain under the currently accepted laws of physics and more specifically of the law of the conservation of energy. As it is understood, energy is neither created nor destroyed. If this is the case, when the immaterial mind causally interacts with the material pineal gland, where does this energy come from? This energy is not simply created for that would be against the laws of physics. If it is not created though, it must be coming from somewhere and is likely being stored in a similar place. The answer does not occur to me to describe where an immaterial mind would store its energy so as to causally interact with a material brain. The first long term cause was the rise of nationalism. This was a general rise in pride for your country, and the belief that your country is better than anybody else s. Many of the other causes of war contributed to the rise of nationalism, including imperialism, militarism, and the industrial revolution.
