Sexism in Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers Essay
In Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers, Minnie Foster is accused of killing her husband. This
accusation forces Mrs. Peters to choose between the law and her inner feelings. Her husband is the
sheriff of Dickenson County, Iowa. It has always been a small, quiet town where nothing really
happens. Mrs. Petersis faced with an internal struggle. On one side, she is married to the law and
on the other side she understands what Minnie has been through. Her husband used to mentally
abuse her to the point where she is now basically secluded from everyone and everything in the
world. Mr. Hale even makes the comment, Though I said at the same time that I didn t know as
what his wife wanted made much difference to John (260). The... Show more content on

The worst part of it all is that she had a little pet bird that she treated like her own child and John
Wright has killed by wringing its neck. She has nothing to love or care for and definitely has no
one to love and care for her in the way she so desperately needs. When John Wright kills her only
friend that brings her happiness, her little bird, she has to kill him. Minnie always had friends and
loved life until this man kept her away from it. Minnie has every right in the world to kill her
husband.
Glaspell also gives the impression that all men are jerks. For example, the men constantly make
fun of the women and put them down for everything they do or do not do. In the beginning of
the story the men complained of dirty towels when Minnie is in jail and has not even been home
to clean up (264). Even though many men may be like that, not all men are. These types of men
are the ones who give the rest of the gender a bad name. Glaspell was not at fault by making
some men look bad, but she could have put at least one man in the story who was kind and
understanding. In the story, she makes every man look like a jerk. By doing that, Glaspell
basically says that is how all men are and that they cannot and will not be sensitive or be able to
understand women in any way, shape or form. She is wrong. She does not give men enough credit.
There are plenty of men who are sensitive and Glaspell refuses to show that side of the male gender.

Essay on The Disaster at Chernobyl
The Disaster at Chernobyl
On April 26th, 1986, operators at the Chernobyl Power Plant in Chernobyl, Ukraine, ran what they
thought to be a routine safety test. But fate was not on the side of these operators. Without
warning, reactor #4 became unstable, as it had been operating at a low power for a possible
shutdown and the reactor s design caused it to be unsafe at this level of power. Internal temperatures
rose. Attempts to cool the system produced the opposite effect. Instantly, the nuclear coresurged
with power. At 1:23 p.m., the reactor exploded. The first blast ripped off the reactor s steel roof.
The second blast released a large plume of radiation into the sky. Flames engulfed the building. For
ten long days, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While some of the radiation lasted only for a few weeks, radioactive cesium 137 contaminated the
ground, plants, animals, and people with particles that produce destructive energy waves for 30 or
more years. Over time, both kinds of radiation can cause cancer and other diseases.[2] Patricia
Doyle, president of the Chernobyl Children s Project which aids victims of the Chernobyl
accident said, The Chernobyl accident resulted initially in an epidemic of thyroid cancer in the
surrounding region. While that has subsided, physicians have been seeing an increase in tumors
of all types caused by exposure to the radiation that remains in the soil. [3] According to a
statistic from the Belarus Ministry of Health quoted during a field visit in January 1999, only 15%
of the children between the ages of 5 and 15 are in good health. [4]
The regions commonly identified as experiencing the greatest contamination include the oblasts
(regions) of Homyel , Mahilyow, and Brest in southern and eastern Belarus; Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and
Chernihiv in northern Ukraine; and Bryansk in southwestern Russia.[5] Many of the effects on
public health are difficult to determine. While many health concerns are the cause of overexposure
to radiation from the accident, poor nutrition, the generally low level of health, and stress and
anxiety produced by fear of radiation exposure may all also be factors.

Why Soccer Is Important To Me
The reason soccer is important to me is because it is the hobby i joined to win. So when I m bored
I would go outside and play soccer and call my brother to play. I really like soccer, so I spent a lot
of time playing it outside on the yard. When I play soccer I fell like I m so happy and I get excited
when I get some goals. When I got the first goal, I got so excited I couldn t believe it, and I just
had a smile all day. While I was looking up videos of soccer, I figured out that the soccer players
win a lot of money. So if I become a soccer player I could win a lot of money and at the same time I
could have fun with my favorite hobby. Now that I always playsoccer when I get goals in I still get
excited and it will help our team with points.

The Benefits of Magnet Schools Essay
Advantages of magnet schools
Why would students want to attend a magnet school? The reason may be because magnet schools
offer a variety of specialized programs that students can choose from. Programs such as visual and
performing arts, mathematics, sciences, and many others are available for students to choose from.
Similar to having a major in college, students at magnet schools have their own specialized area
that they can take classes in, in addition to basic academic classes. They are encouraged to be
creative and to hone their skills in their area of interest.
Another reason magnet schools may be so popular could be due, in part, to the different teaching
styles that some of the schools have adopted. For example, University ... Show more content on

In addition, the selective admissions criteria of magnets create firewalls for students with failing
grades or records of bad behavior or truancy who want to attend these schools (esc.org).
Another disadvantage of magnet schools has to do with the curriculum of these schools.
While students have the opportunity to concentrate on their specialized interest, there is a tendency,
as a result, for attention to be taken away from other areas, primarily academics. Magnet schools do
not always encourage students to stay focused on academics, as the school is designed to promote
achievement in other areas.
Assumptions could be made that, when it comes to college admissions, more selective and
competitive schools, such as magnet schools, would reflect well on applying students. Yet, a new
study of more than 1 million students . . . has concluded that very selective high schools can hurt,
not help, most students chances of getting into very selective colleges (Matthews, p2). The study
shows that students at more demanding high schools tend to have lower grade point averages than
those of students who attend neighborhood schools. In addition, the courses are sometimes less
challenging at magnet schools, mostly due to the fact that most of the work load comes from the
area of special interest (Matthews, p3).

Dramatic Irony In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne was born July 4th, 1804 in Salem, Massachusetts, an area still steepled with
the Puritanical religion. As previously stated, Nathaniel Hawthorne was the grandson to two we ll
know Puritan preachers, one who trailed and condemned people during the Salem Witch Trials.
Hawthorne was raised by his mother, a single widow, and by a household full of women. Trying to
escape this side of the family, Hawthorne added the w to his name as to avoid being considered
related to the Hathornes before him, as if trying to avoid the shame and negative connotations
coming with the name. Hawthorne wrote The Scarlet Letterin 1850 after being fired from his job in
the Salems Customs House, forced to write as a living. Many people were outraged after reading
the novel as it criticized Puritanical religion, which Hawthorne hadn t noticed until afterwards,
and brought to light these hypocritical things people didn t want to see. Many people disliked
Hawthorne as he criticized women writers harshly and in general didn t like the way some women
lived their life such as his feminist friend Margaret Fuller. It also confused people as he criticized
these women yet seemed to sympathize with Hester in the novel. Hawthorne seems to be a huge
fan of irony in this novel as almost every chapter includes dramatic irony, which is when the
audience understands what is happening but the characters don t. He uses dramatic irony having to
do with religion, due to the fact that this is the

The Atkins V. Murrey Atkins Library
Libraries customarily serve as providers of vast arrays of knowledge, provoking introspection and
musing enabling the creation of original notions serving as a haven for independent thought, but
also as an area to exchange knowledge. In the case of the J. Murrey Atkins Library explicitly the
ground floor the underlying message provided by the facilitators is considerably complex. The
Atkins Library, is committed to being academically resourceful and reliable, striving to preserve a
tranquil and safe environment for students; ensuring comfort, socialization, and multitasking in a
diverse setting. This message is insinuated in posters and signs exhibited throughout the ground
floor, the technologically advanced appliances, the wide variety of seating arrangements, and the
alarm systems, scattered across the ceiling.
The Atkins Library gives the impression of being intellectually rewarding, as perceived on the
ground floor; however, whether students take advantage of this situation depends solely on the
individual. There are various ways in which this message is conveyed, namely in the form of
posters. There are two posters one of which can be found at the immediate north entrance of the
library and the other in the general vicinity of Peete s Coffee; informing students of Upcoming
Workshops. Librarians regularly hold these workshops to aid scholars in researching topics,
whether it be for a social science course or social work. These seminars are not required, but are

* The location of the unit within the shopping complex The situation of the store also adds to the
problems in the sense that the store is located on the upper mall in a section of the complex that is
surrounded by expensive, top brand named stores. This does not help as the younger target market
often do not browse around the area and stick to the sections where all of the high street brands are
situated.
* The current persona of the brand When people think of the Tommy Hilfigerlabel, they tend to
think of big flags and bold designs, which in today s market is uncalled for. People want discrete
labels. Also the Tommy Hilfiger range of clothing is associated more with the older, more mature
and classic age group of people and so this image of the brand needs to be overcome.
* Strong competition from more popular brands. Being situated in a shopping complex, there are
many other shops that provide similar, alternative denim products. Customers often opt for these
alternatives because they are cheaper or are accustomed with a better brand name.
By the analysis of various data that I shall collect from within the store I will attempt to come up
with a marketing strategy to promote the sales of the Tommy

Improving The Performance Of Rapid Re Housing Programs And...
Alternative 3 Home to Stay One way D.C. can enhance the performance of Rapid Re Housing
programs and lower the rate of individuals/families returning back to homelessness is to emulate
the model that NYC has been following for the past few years. A few years ago NYC launched the
Home to Stay program (Bornstein, 2014). Home to Stay is a partnership between New York s
Department of Homeless Services and four other organizations committed to fighting homelessness
(Bornstein, 2014). Home to Stay uses an evidence based protocol known as Family Critical Time
Intervention which is intended to motivate individuals and heads of families over nine months to
take an advantage of support services, such as addiction and mental health counseling, conflict
mediation, and improvement of job prospects (Bornstein, 2014). The program follows an extensive
and rigorous screening procedure in order identify and select the most vulnerable and needy
homeless individuals and families who must have access to the supportive services the program
provides (Bornstein, 2014). Though Home to Stay does not target the homelessness population as a
whole, program expansion is a future possibility. While there is no concrete data that measures the
performance of Home to Stay, testimonies from individuals and families that participated in the
program indicate that there is a promising future (Bornstein, 2014). Individuals and families that
were previously homeless believe that Home to Stay is a

The terrorists attacks on September 11, 2001 centered on New York City was a devastation that
affected the United States as Al Qaeda wanted to instill fear in the mass public, and also send a
message simultaneously to their counterparts that they were not to be taken lightly. Since then, it
has never been forgotten and was one of the worst tragedies to occur in recent history. In an
otherwise positive note, Osama Bin Ladenhas since been killed and his death has directly caused a

ordered the (EPA) Environmental Protection Agency to affirm reassuring statements regarding
the air quality in the aftermath of the attacks, citing national security, but they did not determine

The Influence Of Architecture And Design On Society
Throughout this essay, I am going to explore how architecture and design can be a mechanism
which is able to influence the public and have a control over society. On a daily basis, society is
continuously being subconsciously impacted and some may say controlled by factors of
architecture and design such as propaganda buildings, public spaces, objects, graphics, films and
advertisement. I am going to investigate into how each of these aspects may have subliminal
messages within them and what effect this may have on individuals and the general public. It is
also important to recognise why certain people react to certain manners of architecture and design
and how this may have changed over the years. Human behaviour in society is undoubtedly
influenced by the creation and construction of the environments they live, work and socialise in.
People, subconsciously, tend to live their lives precisely linked to the way the environments they
are living within are designed. Factors, like objects and graphics such as billboard advertisements,
in these environments also have an effect on society and how people behave. Architecture and
design have the power to encourage people to communicate with one another, they have the power
inspire people to explore different aspects of their cities and/or countries. They can encourage
someone to become more active, through clever thought and form. Architecture and design have the
ability to influence the behaviour of people in prisons, hospitals,

Compare And Contrast Salem Witch Trials And Bacon s Rebellion
The Salem Witch Trials and Bacon s Rebellion both reflected economic class tension in their
respective colonies. The purpose of Bacon s rebellion was not to overthrow the social and
political order of Virginia, but rather secure economic opportunity. During the second half century,
Virginia s quality of life was improving; the maturation of apple orchards eliminated the
consumption of dirty water, ships were bringing in new servants at a healthy time of year, and
indentured servants were finally serving out their periods of indenture. Despite the improvement
in quality of life, Virginia s economy was on rocky ground for the poor. The government was
being controlled by men using it to gain wealth, leaving the colonist with low cost tobacco and
high taxes. In addition to the economy forcing ordinary planters and merchants to lower ranks of
society, there was no good land in Virginia for them to expand.... Show more content on

were going to Berkley rather than protecting the frontier from attacks. The rebels decided to take
matters into their own hands and declared war on all Native Americans. The economic class
separation between the rich government and poor farmers was so imbalanced that it created a
rebellion. Bacon s Rebellion was deemed successful by the rebels because Native Americans
abandoned their land, government became more responsive to the white farmers, and economic

Summary Of The Poem Mirror By Sylvia Plath
The poem Mirror, by Sylvia Plath, was written in 1961. The poem takes place during a time when
women s reflections were changing quickly, and women s movement was becoming more
important. According to Kristine Tucker in The Overall Meaning of the Poem Mirror, she states,
The Mirror was written by SylviaPlath in 1961 but wasn t published until 1971, eight years after
her death by suicide. Therefore, presuming the lady in the mirror is Plath, readers assume she
wrote the poem referring to her personal life and her struggle with depression due to her appearance.
Sylvia Plath s poem Mirror is about a woman who gets older as the mirror watches her. At first, the
mirror is silver and exact (1). The mirror does not judge; however, it swallows what it sees and
reflects that image back (2). The mirror is also not cruel, only truthful (4), and considers itself a
four cornered eye of a god (5). Therefore, the mirror sees everything for what it is, and does not
lie. The mirror looks across the empty room most of the time (6) and meditates on the pink
speckled wall across from it (7). The mirror is attached to the wall, and has looked at that wall
for so long, that the wall is thought to be part of my heart (8). The darkness in the room and the
people who consider the mirror are the faces and darkness that separate the woman and the mirror
(9). In the next stanza, the mirror is now portraying itself as a lake (10). A woman is looking into
the lake (10), and she is

Hubble Space Telescope Research Paper
Hubble Space Telescope The Hubble Space Telescope is the first major telescope that was
placed in space. It has been in operation for over twenty five years, and has greatly changed our
knowledge of the universe. It can observe galaxies and stars that are very far away since it is not
blocked at all by light pollution and smog that obstructs the views of the telescopes on Earth.
Hubble is fascinating because it was and still is the most revolutionary telescope since Galileo
first looked through one over four hundred years ago. Hubble played a large role in helping
scientists discover and learn about many things like dark matter and dark energy, the age of the
universe, and gamma ray bursts. None of these discoveries would have been possible without

Dark matter is a type of matter that is invisible, but accounts for most of the mass and structure
of the universe. Hubble allowed scientists to observe how dark matter bends the light of galaxies
that are far away through gravitational lensing. Scientists could then theorize about the
existence of dark matter. Due to Hubble s unique viewpoint, scientists could also map where
dark matter is located and how it is distributed in galaxies. Hubble also played a large role in the
discovery of dark energy. Dark energy is a repulsive force that causes the universe to expand at a
faster and faster rate. Hubble not only detected the presence of dark energy, but also that it has
been around since almost the beginning of the universe. It was used to look back in time at

this task because telescopes on the ground would be unable to see these very distant and faint

is theorized to impact Alzheimer s disease, among other diseases. 2 Recent GWAS shows strong
evidence that complement receptor CR1 is linked to the development of AD, although the
mechanistic basis for the CR1 risk remains largely unknown.2
Pathogenesis
Emerging evidence demonstrates neuroinflammation as a crucial pathophysiology of AD,
specifically impacted by microglia and astroglia. 3 The microglia are distributed evenly across the
brain and are activated by protein aggregation and neuronal cell death. 3 Specifically related to
AD, the two chief proteins involved are amyloid B and tau.3 An accumulation of microglia around
amyloid B plaques has been documented in post mortem human brains and in animal models with
AD.3 Research has yet to clearly determine if microglial activation plays a beneficial or detrimental
role in the progression of AD..3 Some reports suggest that microglia are attracted to

Notes On Inflation, Aggregate Demand And Supply
Task 8: Inflation, aggregate demand supply
Pass Questions
Q2)
CPI
The CPI is an economic, measurable tool that was developed utilizing the costs of a specimen of
delegate things whose costs are gathered occasionally. Sub records and sub sub files are figured
for various classes and sub classifications of products and administrations, being joined to deliver
the general file with weights mirroring their shares in the aggregate of the buyer uses secured by
the list. The yearly rate change in a CPI is utilized as a measure of expansion.
Weaknesses of CPI
1. The CIP calculations are based on a single, generic market basket of goods, which is
inappropriate as the basket varies from individual to individual.
2. Fails to acknowledge changes or improvements in quality.
3. It doesn t take into account effects of the substitution effect. Due to this, the CPI overstates
inflation, when consumers choose to substitute one good for another after its price becomes cheaper
than the good they normally buy.
4. New products bias ABS updates the market basket of goods that used to figure CPI roughly
every five years and the items presented between these upgrades are not included in the market
basket and those items cost increases are not included in CPI.
5. Outlet bias People will probably purchase items from Internet and discount stores yet ABS
gathers value measurements from traditional full price retail stores.

Time passed and Maka asked for a covering from Inyan, as Maka was cold when facing Han
Hepiwi, and hot when turned towards Wi. Inyan made a decision with the help of all the other
parts of itself, that Maka could have what it asked, but it must agree to bring life and care for the
life, Maka accepted. Time again passed, but the life on Maka became dishonorable, and
damaging. Maka decided a cleanse was needed, and so Maka produced many different disasters,
such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, all at the same time. Then the land mass on one half
of Maka broke apart, into the continents. More time went by, the world became nefarious again,

My First Term Of College
Going into my first term of college I didn t quite know what to expect, little did I know that it
was going to be an eventful term. Heading into College Survival I didn t know what exactly to

college and I must say this class has definitely helped me out a lot, in ways which I didn t think it
could. The termCollege Survival fascinated me and made me want to learn more about it, so I
ended up taking the course. This course has helped me in so many ways I don t know where I can
start by listing everything it s helped me with. While taking the course we were assigned journal
entries to successfully accomplish and turn in the next class. These journal entries had an
unexpected impact on me, as I learned quite a lot from completing them. One of my favorite
journal entries was the My Life Plan journal entry, this one in specific made me explore my future
and look ahead at what lays ahead of me. Planning ahead can be quite frustrating and
intimidating at times, but in the end you feel good once you re done planning. A specific
situation I learned was creating short and long term goals, I never have done that before prior to
this journal entry. Writing out your goals physically where you can see them in front of you is
great and I learned that there is hope and greatness is ahead of me. After writing this journal it has
made my future more clear for me, and I now know what my short

Truck Driving Vs Lawyers Research Paper
There are a lot of differences between truck driving and lawyers. I chose these careers because I
like driving trucks, and I am interested in diesel trucks. I also like to argue so being a lawyer
makes sense. Heavy and tractor trailer truck drivers transport goods from one location to another.
Most tractor trailer drivers are long haul drivers and operate truckswith a gross vehicle weight
(GVW) capacity that is, the combined weight of the vehicle, passengers, and cargo exceeding
26,000 pounds. These drivers deliver goods over intercity routes, sometimes spanning other states.

of legal problems. Lawyers can interpret laws and regulations for individuals and businesses.
There are many kinds of lawyers, including environmental lawyers, tax lawyers, Intellectual
property lawyers, family lawyers, securities lawyers, and litigaty after ion. Becoming a lawyer
usually takes 7 years of full time study after high school 4 years of undergraduate study, followed
by 3 years of law school. Most states and jurisdictions require lawyers to complete a jurisdoctor

Essay About Vacation In The Caribbean Vacation
Choosing vacations destinations can become a stressful process. However, if the goal is to find
locations outside of the United States and wan to travel to countries in the Caribbean and Latin
America I have a few suggestions for you. Negril, Jamaica and Cancun Mexico are among the best
vacations spots I have ever visited. The beaches, the accommodations, and the food is amazing in
both countries.
Negril, Jamaica was the second place out of the United States I vacationed. The resort I stayed in
was a five star all inclusive adult only resort named Swept Away. The accommodations in Swept
Away were astonishing. I stayed in a bungalow styled room separate from the main resort rooms.
The bungalow was located on the beach near the shoreline. The room was huge. In it there was a
queen size bed made of wood and two lounge chairs. The bedding was bright white linen and the
cushions on the lounge chairs were made of the same bright white linen. Large white mosquito
net was draped around the bed. The white bedding, cushions and mosquito net gave the room a
nice calm and romantic feeling. Also, there was a balcony adjacent to the room. The balcony had
a white linen sofa and two end tables made of wood. The view from the balcony was of the
beautiful blue oceans and beach.
The beaches in Negril bore light brown almost beige colored sand. The sand felt like soft little
pebbles between your toes when stepped on. Most of the time mellow calypso or reggae music

Theory of Multiple Intelligences and Personal Experience

us how to tell time. The feeling of trying to overcome this hurdle to recognize the big hand is for
the minutes and the little hand correlates with the hours, was such a great feat for a fourth grader.
At the time, that felt like such an accomplishment yet there would be many more and greater to
come. According to Howard Gardner s theory of multiple intelligencesin his essay A Rounded

Listening to the other ideas instead of just my own, taught me to compromise. This was a way
to work well with people and get things done quickly to get the best grade I wanted. In school I
have seen students who are timid than most and feel awkward working with people. They work
better by viewing things alone allowing them to excel in individual assignments. They display an
Intrapersonal Intelligence guiding them to be self sufficient. They have a greater sense of their
self enabling them to utilize that knowledge. Learning your own self could be said to help you
work with others but it helps to look from your own feeling and notice others around you. People
get farther working with others than always working alone.
Linguistic intelligence is not only the ability to make a proper sentence with error free grammar,

rank of an incidence matrix. Key Words: Adjacency matrix, Incidence matrix, Degree matrix,
Circuit matrix and Line graph. INTRODUCTION: Incidence Matrix is one of methods of
representing the graph. Let G = (V,E) be graph whose vertices and edges are labeled as

n×m is defined by b_ij={█(1 if v_i is incident with e_j@0 Otherwise )┤ [4] The graph and
its incidence matrix are shown as follows: The incidence matrix contains only two elements 0
and 1. Such a matrix is called a binary matrix or (0 1) matrix. For a given any geometric
representation of a graph without self loops we can easily write its corresponding incidence
matrix. On the other hand if we were given an incidence matrix B we can construct a graph
without any difficulty. The graph and its incidence matrix are simply two alternative ways of
representing the same graph. [1] PROPERTIES: Some observations of incidence matrix and it s

Second, there is has also been a large increase in military and commercial aviation transportation.
Thirdly, due to more urbanization and city growth, natural birds and wildlife habitats have
become fewer. In this case, more birds and wildlife have began settling near airports. With the
increase in damages to aircraft from bird and wildlife strikes, how do airports prevent from future
collisions with bird and wildlife? Airports have many traditional ways of treating the issue. Some
are environmentally safe while others may cause controversy with environmental and government
groups. Each does have its pros and cons though. One method is the use of firearms. This method
is quick but requires precise accuracy and quick judgment Either shooting to scare or to kill and
remove the animal, this method is the least popular due to the fact that some wildlife are either
endangered or under environmental protection. For example a United States airport would lose it s
public opinion if one of the animal control employes opened fire upon an American Bald Eagle
which happens to be the national bird. The use chemicals is another method that is non violent to
deter bird and wildlife. Some airports use certain plants that produce chemicals and odors the
makes wildlife uncomfortable and stay away from the airfield. Though this method is non violent
to birds and wildlife, it does have its set backs. Chemicals used to spray around the airfield can

Full service airline is defined as an airline that focuses on providing a wide range of pre flight and

coverage of services. For example, they may not care about the entertaining facilities provided as
they have their smart phone. Therefore, they may choose low cost airline or other transportations

and strategies in order to fulfill the needs of customers. For example, the fanfares provided by The
Dragonair and Cathay Pacific Airline which providing high quality of service with lower price. And
the online promoting strategy which placing advertisement though social media platform such as
Facebook can establish a young and updated image of the airline in order to fulfill the needs of
young customers.
3. Suggested improvements and future of full service airlines
Although the full service airline cannot provide cheap fares as the low cost airline, they are still
remaining their competitive advantages. The good quality of service such as entertaining
facilities provided by the full service is their largest competitive advantage that cannot be
replaced by the low cost airlines. Cento (2009) writes that the major objective of the hub and

The Advantages of Computerized Accounting System
Speed and accuracy
Computerized accounting system for invoicing make the accounting process run faster and more
efficiently. Instead of using the old fashioned manual paper and pen, you can print professional
looking invoices fast. You even can send out invoices via e mail. The faster invoices get out, the
faster you are likely to get paid. Many invoicing or billing software packages interface with the rest
of your accounting software, making the process of preparing invoices and recording them seamless,

Danger of computer fraud if proper level of control and security whether internal and external are
not properly been instituted. Computer systems are prone to damage like hardware malfunctions,
virus, etcetera, plus the data can be far more easily tampered with than the one written on hard
media, like paper records. Additionally, you need specialized personnel to handle these systems.
Facts
Companies using computerized accounting systems often face high implementation and
maintenance costs. Most business owners and managers are unable to update these systems on their
own, so they must contract with an outside agency to set up the system. Ongoing technical support
costs may also be necessary for these systems.
Training
When getting a new accounting system, there is always time and energy spent in training. After a
system is bought, then about every year new versions are released with changes that may need
some extra training getting used to. Some folks are just not computer people and take them lots of
time to be able to use a system.
Dependency
Computerized accounting is dependent on machines and other software to work properly. Often
enough if one thing is wrong with the computer, then there is no access to the software and work
cannot be done. Then time and expense are involved in getting all the system and software up and
running. But then, maybe the printer stops working.

Computerized accounting systems typically require

The most common campaign strategies are strategic planning, time management, political
communication, and economic management. Here in the U.S. we have different voting options, for
example we have open and closed primaries. The difference between the two are that in an open
primary any one eligible to vote may do so without having any party affiliation. Whereas in a
closed primary only eligible voters with a party affiliation may vote. A political race is funded
by a PAC or a Political Action Committee. PAC s are formed from interest groups to raise money
for a political party or candidate. There are many different types of groups for example, Economic
Interest Groups, Business Groups, Trade Associations, and also groups that promote causes and
welfare. They influence much of the political campaign because the more money they provide a
candidate with the more chances of them getting elected. There has been many speculations over
these PAC s, therefore the government has put in place various laws to prohibit any unfairness in a
political campaign. One of these methods is the Federal Election Commission which inhibits the
amount of money which could be given to a candidate running for office. As citizens of the United

It has been noted that almost any level of trauma can trigger an edema attack, from typing on a

in a negative capacity. This appears to be enough to trigger attacks spontaneously in those with a

This film has a lot of fame behind it, not only because Justin Timberlake being the star of this
documentary but also because it is directed by Jonathan Demme, an Oscar winner who also
directed The Silence of the Lambs, and the fact that it is being produced by Gary Gotzeman an
Emmy winner who produced Olive Kitteridge, Big Love. Justin Timberlake is used to being in front

Fans also get a different side of Timberlake. This is just the typical music star documentary where
we see life on the road of one of the world s famous performers, but we see the true connection he
has with the other twenty five to thirty people on stage with him. He listens to them, feeds off of
them, and actually really listens to their input, making the show energizing and true. He also feeds
off the audience, and if his fans are happy, he knows he is doing something right, (which obviously
he has because his success is nothing short of amazing.)
The 20/20 Tour was a huge success and earned 232 million dollars in ticket sales and selling out
for pretty much every night it was open. It started in November 2013, and ended on January 2,
2015 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. A very long, but fun production for the

To What Extent Can Aliens Be Real
A study stated that, According to Manfort s report, UFO s have been increasingly popping in,
with 104,947 reported sightings on recorded over the past 100 plus years. I m sure over 100,000
people are not seeing things. Aliens could be real for several reasons and could not be real for a
couple for reasons. After researching the topic, you will learn if aliens are real and why they
could not be real. I wanted to research this topic because I always wanted to research the chances
of aliens are real and how they could not be real. Do you believe that aliens are real or not? Why
could aliens be real? This question will be answered in this paragraph. The odds are in favor that
aliens do exist somewhere in the universe. The only question is,... Show more content on

After the Big Bang for another galaxy it will take 30 million years for any human like creatures to
form. So, unless they formed before us or when we were forming to become what we are now,
they probably are not any aliens in the universe. We also have no scientific discoveries, just
reported sightings. There s a good chance that there will be aliens in the future than right now.
Now we will get into my opinion, about if aliens are real or not. I believe that aliens are real for
a couple key reasons. One of my reasons it things such as the Roswell Incident just don t happen
for reason. The government just doesn t leave with something covered up so it is not seen by
the eyes of the residents living there. Another reason would be that the odds are that aliens are
amongst us right now or will be among us in the future. That is why I believe that aliens are real.
Those are the reasons why aliens could be real, and why they could not be real. I researched this
topic because I ve wanted to go in depth about if aliens are real. Aliens could be real for several
reasons and could not be real for a couple for reasons. After reading this essay do you believe that

Comparison of Political History and Development of Nursing...
Comparison of: Political History and Development of Nursing Education between China and Poland
Chinese modern nursing started its evolution in the 1888 when the first formal hospital was opened
in the town of Fuzhou, located in the Fujian province. Chinese medicine has been molded by
numerous western initiatives from the missionary in the 19 century. Particularly, nursing schools
and missionary hospitals, this comprised of 32% of the complete nursing population in the country.
The American influence was profound since it was one of the principal in the region doing major
investments. Individual teachers and nursing professional were the key players in the realization of
the early modernization of nursing in the country. Foundations from America set up medical
facilities facilitating the increase in the spread of nursing in the country. Chinese modern nursing
edification saw an early start compared to the other countries. Politically the government of China
faced a period of nursing halt after the abolishment of the practice. When the government that
abolished the practice collapsed in 1977, the practice came back to normal but left a gap of 30
years deficit in practice and development of the nursing profession. Therefore, China s nursing
practice was significantly influenced by the political climate particularly the revolution. Ireland on
the other hand was the last developed country to incorporate nursing into the university. The

Functionalism is simply defined as the idea that the purpose of everything we do is to support our
society or ourselves. Many Anthropologists and sociologists are functionalists but for this essay I ll
be focusing more on two of the most famous people who support this idea; Bronislaw Malinowski
and Г‰mile Durkheim. The two share differences and similarities in the approaches they take
depending on the groups they studied.
Durkheim, a French sociologist, who is one of the founders of sociology, claimed that meaningful
human practices can be understood in sociological, biological and psychological terms. Though,
He puts a clear understanding as to how sociological approach to studying human practices is a
scientific discipline unique from biology and psychology in its own way. Durkheim explains his
idea of sociological approach as it s own science in this methodology he calls a social fact. he
defines this term as any way of acting which is general over the whole of a given society whilst
having an existence of its own, independent of its individual manifestations. (Malinowski.59) To
Durkheim, Social facts are ways of understanding a society that are abstract but real, external to
all individuals, which exert coercive power over individuals beliefs by limiting the basic
individuals forms of consciousness and behavior, and are also inevitable meaning if you are a
member of the society you can t

Structural Strain Theory
Sociology can be looked at and studied in many different ways. Sociology is usually split into
many different places so that sociologists can look at one individual group instead of everyone
together. This is a society. A society is an organised group of people. Sociologists study these
groups to get more accurate information. One thing that sociologists look at when they look at
these societies is the deviance of the group. Deviance is anything that goes against social norms
of a specific place. Deviance varies depending on time and location of the specific group the
sociologists are studying. A norm is a set of expected behaviors for a given role and social status.

The Strain Theory asserts that people commit deviant acts when the strain of society becomes
too much for the person to handle. Often their deviance is due to their feelings of anomie,
meaningless, due to not understanding how the social norms affect them. This is usually
because the norms are are confusing or weak. There is a social consensus in society about
socially approved achievements and goals. This consensus tells what one should strive for in
order to achieve according to society. Society places these certain goals that all people of that
society try to pursue. These people either have to work in the structure that society has made or
if the pressure is too much they will turn to deviant acts in an attempt to achieve those goals.
When there is a gap between the person s current standing in society and the overall goal society
has created based on The Strain Theory people will act upon this gap in five different ways:
Conformity, innovation, ritualism, retreatism, and rebellion. Conformity is the acceptance of
the cultural goals and means of attaining those goals. This is the way a normal person would go
about to achieve the goals set by society. Innovation is the acceptance of the goals of a culture
but the rejection of the traditional and legitimate means of attaining those goals, e.g, a drug
dealer accepts the goals he has to accomplish but society does not necessarily agree with those
goals. This is how one completes a goal set by society but does not necessarily go the normal
way to do it. Ritualism is the rejection of cultural goals but the routinized acceptance of the way
of achieving those goals. For example, A man who has a wife and family is a hard worker and
makes an average income. He believes that money is not everything and is more happy with his
family life. He knows that it is unlikely that he will ever become rich but he is happy with that and

History And Philosophy Midterm Paper
Philosophy Midterm Paper For centuries scientists have been studying everything from
evolution to space. During that time, there have also been projects upon projects that were
taken on by new, emerging scientists who will continue the work of the teams who came before
them. Each new team brings a new discovery. Something that was previously just a question,
such as what makes us water different than dirt? , has now been answered due to dozens of
different teams all working towards the same goal. Thanks to those scientists, we now know
what makes water special. It s not a physical property, such as colorless, but it s the fact that it s
made up of hydrogen and oxygen atoms (F. Jabr 4). Taking this concept of discovery, we can
apply it to something more complex such as the definition of life. Life is complicated, and many
teams of researchers and scientists alike have worked towards the goal of defining it. Before
reading this article, it was assumed that the scientific community could basically agree on one
conclusion: A living thing has order, grows and develops, maintains homeostasis, has a metabolic
structure, reacts to stimuli, reproduces, and evolves. This definition of life can be compacted into
this simple statement made by NASA, [Life is] a self sustaining system capable of Darwinian
evolution. However, this statement has been proven untrue by Ferris Jabr s theory that life doesn t
actually exist because it s a concept rooted in the human mind. The reason he

people would have gone and never come back to start a new life somewhere else. People can also
see that he is a loving and caring person by the way his family reacts when they see him for the first
time since he got out of jail. His little siblings are overjoyed and everyone crowds him. He is
obviously a well liked person to be around in his family, and any watcher could see that he is a
loyal companion.
Another reason Tom Joad is the best character in Grapes of Wrath is because he is one of the
hardest workers in the film. When he gets out of jail, he works his hardest to find his family,
even though he has no idea where they are. He travels everywhere just to find them. Also when
they get to Cali, he finds them work, and he would have done anything to keep his family going

Steps in Scientific Method
The scientific method is a tool that enables a person to seek out new knowledge, or correct and
integrate new knowledge. It is composed of eight individual steps: which start out with defining a
question, gathering information and resources, form an explanatory hypothesis, test the hypothesis
by performing an experiment and collecting data in a reproducible manner, analyze the data,
interpret the data and draw conclusions that serve as a starting point for new hypothesis, publish
results, and ends with a retest. The steps can be grouped into four different essential elements:
operation, observation, model, and utility function.

116).
In order for a person to accurately use the scientific method to gather knowledge and truth from
the Bible a person should have a general Christian worldview. A Christian worldview is any
ideology, philosophy, theology, movement or religion that provides an overarching approach to
understanding God, the world and man s relations to God and the world. (Noebel, D, 1995). In a
biblical worldview the word of God is infallible. The Bible is the foundation of everything
Christians say and do. A person who is living in a secular worldview has beliefs filled with
selfish, fallen world ideas that seductively appeal to the desires of one s flesh. A person with a
Christian worldview already has the answer within their heart. So a person with a Christian
worldview is led to look for truth within the Bible which is revealed to them through revelation.
Without the proper worldview, people will be unable to find truth and knowledge within the Bible.
In looking through a lens it is important to consider the lens that the material was originally created
from and intended for. The scientific method will continue to remain valid, only if analogous
worldviews are shared.
The Christian worldview is compatible with the Scientific Method. The Christian Worldview
promotes faith in works and the Scientific Method promotes human intellect to search through
God s works. According to Draper (2003), The history of Science is not a mere record of isolated
discoveries; it is a narrative of

Netflix And Hulu Comparison
Netflix and Hulu plus are pretty similar, both have video streaming and entertain people, but
Netflix is way better in many ways. Hulu has recent seasons and more seasons of shows. Netflix
has more TV shows and movies. Netflix also has no commercials. While Hulu people have to wait
2 minutes for the show to come back on. People can also, rent DVDs on Netflix. These some
examples on why Netflix is way better than Hulu Plus. One reason Netflix is better than Hulu
plus is that it has a lot of TV shows and movies people can choose from. A person can spend
hours just flipping through shows, and if they do not feel like watching a show, they can watch a
movie instead. Netflix has shows that have already ended or do not show any more on regular...

Sure People have the most recent episodes on Hulu, but they can also go to the show s website
and watch it there. Hulu may have more seasons of show on Netflix. Hulu also has shows, that
Netflix does not have for example the show Community. It is a great show it is very funny, but it
is not on Netflix. For people to watch it they have to go to Hulu or stream somewhere else. It s
pretty much the only thing good about Hulu plus. Another reason Netflix is way better than
Netflix, is that they do not have commercials/ads. People can sit around at home and binge watch
their show without any interruptions. When a person is watching their favorite show and getting
really into it, they do not have to be interrupted by a commercial for baby s diapers. They do not
have to wait two minutes of the same commercial playing over and over every commercial break.
Hulu, on the other hand has commercials. It is terrible right when the ad is done they show a
little bit of the show and there is an ad again. A two minute ad is not big deal, but it could get
really annoying especially if the ad buffers and just keeps buffering. Unless they have like ad

  • 2. Sexism in Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers Essay In Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers, Minnie Foster is accused of killing her husband. This accusation forces Mrs. Peters to choose between the law and her inner feelings. Her husband is the sheriff of Dickenson County, Iowa. It has always been a small, quiet town where nothing really happens. Mrs. Petersis faced with an internal struggle. On one side, she is married to the law and on the other side she understands what Minnie has been through. Her husband used to mentally abuse her to the point where she is now basically secluded from everyone and everything in the world. Mr. Hale even makes the comment, Though I said at the same time that I didn t know as what his wife wanted made much difference to John (260). The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The worst part of it all is that she had a little pet bird that she treated like her own child and John Wright has killed by wringing its neck. She has nothing to love or care for and definitely has no one to love and care for her in the way she so desperately needs. When John Wright kills her only friend that brings her happiness, her little bird, she has to kill him. Minnie always had friends and loved life until this man kept her away from it. Minnie has every right in the world to kill her husband. Glaspell also gives the impression that all men are jerks. For example, the men constantly make fun of the women and put them down for everything they do or do not do. In the beginning of the story the men complained of dirty towels when Minnie is in jail and has not even been home to clean up (264). Even though many men may be like that, not all men are. These types of men are the ones who give the rest of the gender a bad name. Glaspell was not at fault by making some men look bad, but she could have put at least one man in the story who was kind and understanding. In the story, she makes every man look like a jerk. By doing that, Glaspell basically says that is how all men are and that they cannot and will not be sensitive or be able to understand women in any way, shape or form. She is wrong. She does not give men enough credit. There are plenty of men who are sensitive and Glaspell refuses to show that side of the male gender. Mrs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on The Disaster at Chernobyl The Disaster at Chernobyl On April 26th, 1986, operators at the Chernobyl Power Plant in Chernobyl, Ukraine, ran what they thought to be a routine safety test. But fate was not on the side of these operators. Without warning, reactor #4 became unstable, as it had been operating at a low power for a possible shutdown and the reactor s design caused it to be unsafe at this level of power. Internal temperatures rose. Attempts to cool the system produced the opposite effect. Instantly, the nuclear coresurged with power. At 1:23 p.m., the reactor exploded. The first blast ripped off the reactor s steel roof. The second blast released a large plume of radiation into the sky. Flames engulfed the building. For ten long days, ... While some of the radiation lasted only for a few weeks, radioactive cesium 137 contaminated the ground, plants, animals, and people with particles that produce destructive energy waves for 30 or more years. Over time, both kinds of radiation can cause cancer and other diseases.[2] Patricia Doyle, president of the Chernobyl Children s Project which aids victims of the Chernobyl accident said, The Chernobyl accident resulted initially in an epidemic of thyroid cancer in the surrounding region. While that has subsided, physicians have been seeing an increase in tumors of all types caused by exposure to the radiation that remains in the soil. [3] According to a statistic from the Belarus Ministry of Health quoted during a field visit in January 1999, only 15% of the children between the ages of 5 and 15 are in good health. [4] The regions commonly identified as experiencing the greatest contamination include the oblasts (regions) of Homyel , Mahilyow, and Brest in southern and eastern Belarus; Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Chernihiv in northern Ukraine; and Bryansk in southwestern Russia.[5] Many of the effects on public health are difficult to determine. While many health concerns are the cause of overexposure to radiation from the accident, poor nutrition, the generally low level of health, and stress and anxiety produced by fear of radiation exposure may all also be factors. • 5. The Benefits of Magnet Schools Essay Advantages of magnet schools Why would students want to attend a magnet school? The reason may be because magnet schools offer a variety of specialized programs that students can choose from. Programs such as visual and performing arts, mathematics, sciences, and many others are available for students to choose from. Similar to having a major in college, students at magnet schools have their own specialized area that they can take classes in, in addition to basic academic classes. They are encouraged to be creative and to hone their skills in their area of interest. Another reason magnet schools may be so popular could be due, in part, to the different teaching styles that some of the schools have adopted. For example, University ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the selective admissions criteria of magnets create firewalls for students with failing grades or records of bad behavior or truancy who want to attend these schools (esc.org). Another disadvantage of magnet schools has to do with the curriculum of these schools. While students have the opportunity to concentrate on their specialized interest, there is a tendency, as a result, for attention to be taken away from other areas, primarily academics. Magnet schools do not always encourage students to stay focused on academics, as the school is designed to promote achievement in other areas. Assumptions could be made that, when it comes to college admissions, more selective and competitive schools, such as magnet schools, would reflect well on applying students. Yet, a new study of more than 1 million students . . . has concluded that very selective high schools can hurt, not help, most students chances of getting into very selective colleges (Matthews, p2). The study shows that students at more demanding high schools tend to have lower grade point averages than those of students who attend neighborhood schools. In addition, the courses are sometimes less challenging at magnet schools, mostly due to the fact that most of the work load comes from the area of special interest (Matthews, p3). • 7. Dramatic Irony In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter Nathaniel Hawthorne was born July 4th, 1804 in Salem, Massachusetts, an area still steepled with the Puritanical religion. As previously stated, Nathaniel Hawthorne was the grandson to two we ll know Puritan preachers, one who trailed and condemned people during the Salem Witch Trials. Hawthorne was raised by his mother, a single widow, and by a household full of women. Trying to escape this side of the family, Hawthorne added the w to his name as to avoid being considered related to the Hathornes before him, as if trying to avoid the shame and negative connotations coming with the name. Hawthorne wrote The Scarlet Letterin 1850 after being fired from his job in the Salems Customs House, forced to write as a living. Many people were outraged after reading the novel as it criticized Puritanical religion, which Hawthorne hadn t noticed until afterwards, and brought to light these hypocritical things people didn t want to see. Many people disliked Hawthorne as he criticized women writers harshly and in general didn t like the way some women lived their life such as his feminist friend Margaret Fuller. It also confused people as he criticized these women yet seemed to sympathize with Hester in the novel. Hawthorne seems to be a huge fan of irony in this novel as almost every chapter includes dramatic irony, which is when the audience understands what is happening but the characters don t. Alternative 3 Home to Stay One way D.C. can enhance the performance of Rapid Re Housing programs and lower the rate of individuals/families returning back to homelessness is to emulate the model that NYC has been following for the past few years. A few years ago NYC launched the Home to Stay program (Bornstein, 2014). Home to Stay is a partnership between New York s Department of Homeless Services and four other organizations committed to fighting homelessness (Bornstein, 2014). Home to Stay uses an evidence based protocol known as Family Critical Time Intervention which is intended to motivate individuals and heads of families over nine months to take an advantage of support services, such as addiction and mental health counseling, conflict mediation, and improvement of job prospects (Bornstein, 2014). The program follows an extensive and rigorous screening procedure in order identify and select the most vulnerable and needy homeless individuals and families who must have access to the supportive services the program provides (Bornstein, 2014). Though Home to Stay does not target the homelessness population as a whole, program expansion is a future possibility. While there is no concrete data that measures the performance of Home to Stay, testimonies from individuals and families that participated in the program indicate that there is a promising future (Bornstein, 2014). • 13. The Influence Of Architecture And Design On Society Throughout this essay, I am going to explore how architecture and design can be a mechanism which is able to influence the public and have a control over society. On a daily basis, society is continuously being subconsciously impacted and some may say controlled by factors of architecture and design such as propaganda buildings, public spaces, objects, graphics, films and advertisement. I am going to investigate into how each of these aspects may have subliminal messages within them and what effect this may have on individuals and the general public. It is also important to recognise why certain people react to certain manners of architecture and design and how this may have changed over the years. Human behaviour in society is undoubtedly influenced by the creation and construction of the environments they live, work and socialise in. People, subconsciously, tend to live their lives precisely linked to the way the environments they are living within are designed. Factors, like objects and graphics such as billboard advertisements, in these environments also have an effect on society and how people behave. Architecture and design have the power to encourage people to communicate with one another, they have the power inspire people to explore different aspects of their cities and/or countries. They can encourage someone to become more active, through clever thought and form. Architecture and design have the ability to influence the behaviour of people in prisons, hospitals, ... The purpose of Bacon s rebellion was not to overthrow the social and political order of Virginia, but rather secure economic opportunity. During the second half century, Virginia s quality of life was improving; the maturation of apple orchards eliminated the consumption of dirty water, ships were bringing in new servants at a healthy time of year, and indentured servants were finally serving out their periods of indenture. Despite the improvement in quality of life, Virginia s economy was on rocky ground for the poor. The rebels decided to take matters into their own hands and declared war on all Native Americans. The poem takes place during a time when women s reflections were changing quickly, and women s movement was becoming more important. Sylvia Plath s poem Mirror is about a woman who gets older as the mirror watches her. At first, the mirror is silver and exact (1). The mirror does not judge; however, it swallows what it sees and reflects that image back (2). The mirror is also not cruel, only truthful (4), and considers itself a four cornered eye of a god (5). Therefore, the mirror sees everything for what it is, and does not lie. The mirror looks across the empty room most of the time (6) and meditates on the pink speckled wall across from it (7). The mirror is attached to the wall, and has looked at that wall for so long, that the wall is thought to be part of my heart (8). Due to Hubble s unique viewpoint, scientists could also map where dark matter is located and how it is distributed in galaxies. Hubble also played a large role in the discovery of dark energy. Dark energy is a repulsive force that causes the universe to expand at a faster and faster rate. Hubble not only detected the presence of dark energy, but also that it has been around since almost the beginning of the universe. It was used to look back in time at supernovae, which are used to trace how the universe expanded. Only Hubble could be used for this task because telescopes on the ground would be unable to see these very distant and faint supernovae. The Incidence Of Alzheimer s Disease Essay Etiology The incidence of Alzheimer s disease is 36 million people worldwide as of 2010, making it the most common cause of senile dementia. 1This number is expected to nearly double, to 65.7 million by 2030.1AD is accompanied by pathological features consistent with brain atrophy and neural cell death. 1The inflammatory response of the brain, that is commonly found in AD, is linked to several factors. 1Amyloid B, inflammatory cytokines, and sphingolipids are some of the known factors associated with AD. 1Uncontrolled inflammation, from ongoing or chronic complement activation is theorized to impact Alzheimer s disease, among other diseases. 2 Recent GWAS shows strong evidence that complement receptor CR1 is linked to the development of AD, although the mechanistic basis for the CR1 risk remains largely unknown.2 Pathogenesis Emerging evidence demonstrates neuroinflammation as a crucial pathophysiology of AD, specifically impacted by microglia and astroglia. 3 The microglia are distributed evenly across the brain and are activated by protein aggregation and neuronal cell death. 3 Specifically related to AD, the two chief proteins involved are amyloid B and tau.3 An accumulation of microglia around amyloid B plaques has been documented in post mortem human brains and in animal models with AD.3 Research has yet to clearly determine if microglial activation plays a beneficial or detrimental role in the progression of AD..3 Some reports suggest that microglia are attracted to ... Notes On Inflation, Aggregate Demand And Supply Task 8: Inflation, aggregate demand supply Pass Questions Q2) CPI The CPI is an economic, measurable tool that was developed utilizing the costs of a specimen of delegate things whose costs are gathered occasionally. Sub records and sub sub files are figured for various classes and sub classifications of products and administrations, being joined to deliver the general file with weights mirroring their shares in the aggregate of the buyer uses secured by the list. The yearly rate change in a CPI is utilized as a measure of expansion. Weaknesses of CPI 1. The CIP calculations are based on a single, generic market basket of goods, which is inappropriate as the basket varies from individual to individual. 2. Fails to acknowledge changes or improvements in quality. 3. It doesn t take into account effects of the substitution effect. Due to this, the CPI overstates inflation, when consumers choose to substitute one good for another after its price becomes cheaper than the good they normally buy. 4. New products bias ABS updates the market basket of goods that used to figure CPI roughly every five years and the items presented between these upgrades are not included in the market basket and those items cost increases are not included in CPI. 5. There s a good chance that there will be aliens in the future than right now. Now we will get into my opinion, about if aliens are real or not. I believe that aliens are real for a couple key reasons. One of my reasons it things such as the Roswell Incident just don t happen for reason. The government just doesn t leave with something covered up so it is not seen by the eyes of the residents living there. Another reason would be that the odds are that aliens are amongst us right now or will be among us in the future. That is why I believe that aliens are real. Zenawit Nerae Dr. Jennifer Patico Anth 4020 October 7, 2015 Midterm A Functionalism is simply defined as the idea that the purpose of everything we do is to support our society or ourselves. Many Anthropologists and sociologists are functionalists but for this essay I ll be focusing more on two of the most famous people who support this idea; Bronislaw Malinowski and Г‰mile Durkheim. The two share differences and similarities in the approaches they take depending on the groups they studied. Durkheim, a French sociologist, who is one of the founders of sociology, claimed that meaningful human practices can be understood in sociological, biological and psychological terms. Though, He puts a clear understanding as to how sociological approach to studying human practices is a scientific discipline unique from biology and psychology in its own way. Durkheim explains his idea of sociological approach as it s own science in this methodology he calls a social fact. he defines this term as any way of acting which is general over the whole of a given society whilst having an existence of its own, independent of its individual manifestations. (Malinowski.59) To Durkheim, Social facts are ways of understanding a society that are abstract but real, external to all individuals, which exert coercive power over individuals beliefs by limiting the basic individuals forms of consciousness and behavior, and are also inevitable meaning if you are a member of the society you can t ... • 45. Structural Strain Theory Sociology can be looked at and studied in many different ways. Sociology is usually split into many different places so that sociologists can look at one individual group instead of everyone together. This is a society. A society is an organised group of people. Sociologists study these groups to get more accurate information. One thing that sociologists look at when they look at these societies is the deviance of the group. Deviance is anything that goes against social norms of a specific place. Deviance varies depending on time and location of the specific group the sociologists are studying. A norm is a set of expected behaviors for a given role and social status. Deviance is a magnificent part of sociology. Deviance is any behavior,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Strain Theory asserts that people commit deviant acts when the strain of society becomes too much for the person to handle. Often their deviance is due to their feelings of anomie, meaningless, due to not understanding how the social norms affect them. This is usually because the norms are are confusing or weak. There is a social consensus in society about socially approved achievements and goals. This consensus tells what one should strive for in order to achieve according to society. Society places these certain goals that all people of that society try to pursue. These people either have to work in the structure that society has made or if the pressure is too much they will turn to deviant acts in an attempt to achieve those goals. When there is a gap between the person s current standing in society and the overall goal society has created based on The Strain Theory people will act upon this gap in five different ways: Conformity, innovation, ritualism, retreatism, and rebellion. Conformity is the acceptance of the cultural goals and means of attaining those goals. This is the way a normal person would go about to achieve the goals set by society. Innovation is the acceptance of the goals of a culture but the rejection of the traditional and legitimate means of attaining those goals, e.g, a drug dealer accepts the goals he has to accomplish but society does not necessarily agree with those goals. This is how one completes a goal set by society but does not necessarily go the normal way to do it. Ritualism is the rejection of cultural goals but the routinized acceptance of the way of achieving those goals. For example, A man who has a wife and family is a hard worker and makes an average income. He believes that money is not everything and is more happy with his family life. He knows that it is unlikely that he will ever become rich but he is happy with that and continues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During that time, there have also been projects upon projects that were taken on by new, emerging scientists who will continue the work of the teams who came before them. Each new team brings a new discovery. Something that was previously just a question, such as what makes us water different than dirt? , has now been answered due to dozens of different teams all working towards the same goal. Thanks to those scientists, we now know what makes water special. It s not a physical property, such as colorless, but it s the fact that it s made up of hydrogen and oxygen atoms (F. Jabr 4). Taking this concept of discovery, we can apply it to something more complex such as the definition of life. Life is complicated, and many teams of researchers and scientists alike have worked towards the goal of defining it. Before reading this article, it was assumed that the scientific community could basically agree on one conclusion: A living thing has order, grows and develops, maintains homeostasis, has a metabolic structure, reacts to stimuli, reproduces, and evolves. This definition of life can be compacted into this simple statement made by NASA, [Life is] a self sustaining system capable of Darwinian evolution. However, this statement has been proven untrue by Ferris Jabr s theory that life doesn t actually exist because it s a concept rooted in the human mind. The reason he ... In order for a person to accurately use the scientific method to gather knowledge and truth from the Bible a person should have a general Christian worldview. A Christian worldview is any ideology, philosophy, theology, movement or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world and man s relations to God and the world. (Noebel, D, 1995). In a biblical worldview the word of God is infallible. The Bible is the foundation of everything Christians say and do. A person who is living in a secular worldview has beliefs filled with selfish, fallen world ideas that seductively appeal to the desires of one s flesh. A person with a Christian worldview already has the answer within their heart. So a person with a Christian worldview is led to look for truth within the Bible which is revealed to them through revelation. Without the proper worldview, people will be unable to find truth and knowledge within the Bible. In looking through a lens it is important to consider the lens that the material was originally created from and intended for. The scientific method will continue to remain valid, only if analogous worldviews are shared. The Christian worldview is compatible with the Scientific Method. The Christian Worldview promotes faith in works and the Scientific Method promotes human intellect to search through God s works.
