Similarities Between Frankenstein Or The Modern Prometheus
In Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, Or the Modern Prometheus she discusses the issue of rebirth
through the hands of humans and how man is attempting to imitate God or nature, which can lead
to disastrous results. The internal struggles of Victor Frankenstein and his relationship with his
creature is some that not only affects them but his family and community as a whole. This story of
creation and punishment is one that has been told for centuries and is what Shelley s own novel
was inspired by, the legend of the Greek Titan Prometheus. She uses the story of Prometheus as
basis for Frankenstein; the connection between a creator and its child, the punishment for taking
something that was not within your power or authority to take and the... Show more content on

When Prometheus was punished, it was as a result of the fact that he wanted to better his
creation but in stark contrast to that Victor punishment is somewhat internal and not at all for
any sort of compassion or love. Prometheus displayed the actions of a good creator whilst Victor
was the opposite. He was consistently attempting to assist and advance the humans, while Victor,
in contrast was constantly displaying his disgust in his own creation and in no way tried to help
him assimilate to society. Victor doesn t express any other emotion towards the monster other
than disgust and revulsion after its birth, once he realized what he had done he proclaims that,
now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust
filled my heart (Ch.5, p.59). The creature himself, after learning to speak and write from the
backyard of a family, expresses to Victor how the effect of his neglect has left him, where he
describes the pain and torment of abandonment from your own creator. The creation describes
how he is a reflection of Victor himself, Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so
hideous that even you turned from me in disgust? God, in pity, made man beautiful and alluring,
after his own image; but my form is a filthy type of yours, more horrid even from the very
resemblance

American Exploration In The 1500 s
The early 1500 s was known in history as The Age of Exploration. At the time anyone who was
involved with exploration had their own motives such as wealth, trade, glory, and the spread of
Christianity. People became more involved with exploration because it created new trading routes,
applied new technologies, created economic goals, and rise of nations. Exploration in the 1500 s
relates back to US history because during the Age of Exploration America was founded.
Portugal took the lead in search of the first all water route to Asia. To control trades with Asia was
Portugal s number one priority. Portuguese sailors used a ship named caravel to sail the seas. It
had a triangular sail and three masts. The triangular sail let the cravel sail through wind. The
caravel was the fastest and lightest boat. It was also wide enough to carry water and food for
voyages. (relate to us history) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nonprofit Sectors
Revenue: The Rising Factor in Interrelationships between the Three Sectors Annotation Weisbrod,
Burton A. (1997). The Future of Nonprofit Sector: Its Entwining with Private Enterprise and
Government. Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, 16(4), 541 555. Burton Weisbrod, an
extensively published economist, examines the future of the ever growing nonprofit sector and its
increasing interrelationship with the private and governmental sectors; a consequence of the
nonprofits need for revenues to provide services to the community. Weisbrod poses the following
three questions to explain the dramatic worldwide increase of nonprofit organizations and their
heightened collaboration with private firms and governmental agencies.... Show more content on

Weisbrod explores the second question through a comparative examination of the economic
competition and cooperation between the three sectors. In his results, he deduces that nonprofits
have thrust themselves into new arenas, generating increased competition and growing political
attention. (Weisbrod, 1997) as well as a growing cooperation between the three sectors through
alliances and the commercialization of nonprofits. The evaluation of the third question focuses on
the efficiency and quality of the nursing home services provided by nonprofits compared to private
institutions as well as volunteering. Weisbrod utilizes statistics to measure labor inputs, consumer
satisfaction, opportunities for volunteers, and compensation for top executives (Weisbrod, 1997).
Overall, he discovered that nonprofit organizations are socially valuable not only because of the
kinds of outputs they produce but also because of the ways they distribute their services. (Weisbrod,

The Importance Of Being Earnest Oscar Wilde Sodomy
In 1861 the death penalty for sodomy was abolished with a lesser sentence of two years for
attempted sodomy put in its place (Fordham.edu), although at this time lesbian relationships were
not seen as a crime and were sometimes tolerated by society. The fact that Homosexuality was not
only frowned upon but also illegal could allude to the idea that effeminacy , an alternative form of
masculinity; where a man displays traits that are often more associated with feminine gender roles,
was seen as unwholesome. In 1885 parliament would enact the Labouchere Amendment, a law that
was put into place that prohibited gross indecency between men and to prosecute said men when
sodomy could not be proven.
Ten years later acclaimed author of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest Oscar Wilde,
was convicted on twelve counts of sodomy (history.com, 2017). At this time homosexualitywas still
seen as a serious criminal offence and social taboo in Britain. Wilde was incarcerated for two
years moving from prison to prison carrying out hard labour, walking many hours on a treadmill.
After serving his sentence Wilde was exiled to France where he later died from meningitis. With
the enactment of the policing and crime act 2017 coming into force, Wilde and fifty thousand
other men were pardoned. The fact that a popular literary figure like Wilde was imprisoned in
1895 and then not pardoned along with fifty thousand other men of his so called crime until 2017,

Epictetus Aphorism
Epictetus presents many themes through his aphorisms from free will, to the divine plan and many
more. The one that will be focused on today are Value Judgements. This theme is present in the
aphorism I have selected, number 9. The aphorism states Illness interferes with the body, not with
one s faculty of choice, unless that faculty of choice wishes it to. Lameness interferes with the limb,
not with one s faculty of choice. Say this at each thing that happens to you, since you will find that
it interferes with something else, not with you (Epictetus, The Handbook, 14). This aphorism
broken down simply means, the body and mind although connected are separate of each other.
Therefore when one factor hinders the body, you must remember you... Show more content on

idea pretty well, it s called The First $20 Million is Always the Hardest, it s a story of an
upcoming guy in marketing who realizes he wants more in life. So he quits and has this bold
idea, so he starts up a team who is assigned a task to make a computer for less than $100.
Throughout the movie the team fails numerous times and their idea is rejected by multiple
companies. Needless to say many external factors were working against the characters in the
movie, like lack of resources, and time. But there was a constant will of assessment as I stated
before that the characters had, each time they were rejected they went back and made the design
better and modified it to have more features. This was done because they knew their minds were
greater than the factors that were fighting against them. Eventually the characters present their
design and the main character says Hi! I m Casper the friendly hologram. I think it was God who
said, Let there be light. (The First 20 Million is Always the Hardest). Through the power of their

Essay On Cronyism And Nepotism
The problem that the researchers intended to study was clearly stated. In problem that existed is
that due to favouritism, nepotism and cronyism the vacancies and job opportunities in Pakistan are
not being fulfilled base on the applicant s qualification, experience and other necessary skills. The
problem is of practical importance, because it helps to determine the significant impact that
favouritism, nepotism and cronyism within the working environment of the public sector
organizations of Pakistan. The purpose of the study, as stated in the abstract, is to examine the
effects of favouritism, nepotism and cronyism on job satisfaction in the public sector organizations
of Pakistan. The researchpaper also hopes to determine the validity of the following three
hypothesis:
1.Favouritism will have a negative relationship on job satisfaction
2.Nepotism will have a negative relationship on job satisfaction
3.Cronyism will have a negative relationship on job satisfaction Key terms that exist within the
research paper are clearly identified and defined. These key terms are nepotism, favouritism,
cronyism, job satisfaction and public sector organization.

disproved the original hypothesis as it was discovered that favouritism, nepotism and cronyism all

that limited the effectiveness of the research. Perhaps the two major weakness that resulted in the
hypothesis being disproved are the study was not conducted from the organizational point of view,
but from the employees point of view and also that the study was conducted within the public
sector, and may have led to different result should it have been conducted within the private

Sirens In The Odyssey
Homer and Atwood showcase the multifaceted nature of the myth of the Sirens through various
perspectives, with varying tones, and utilizing imagery. Homer recounts the narrative of a man
sufficiently shrewd to hear the siren s tune and not lose his life; meanwhile Atwood portrays a siren,
alluring men to her island to trap them.
Although the tones differentiate from each other within the two passages, both utilize cleverness
with trickery. Odysseus runs with his life secure, and the Siren feels accomplished; her boring
song...works every time. Phrases such as now with a sharp word demonstrate how the tone in
Homer s passage is powerful and rich. In any case, as Homer s tone has manly characteristics,
Atwood s has femininity. Her tone feels sinister yet beseeching. These two passages pair as two
parts of a whole. Odysseus represents a prey, attempting hysterically to escape demise, while the
Siren is a savage predator, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homer s words are manly, effective, and powerful. He utilizes words like sharp, strength, strong
hands, and sharp sword. The description illustrates a man who is not only cruising by the Sirens,
but heading to war with them. Homer depicts the Sirens song as ravishing, thrilling, and urgent.
Their voices influence Odysseus emotions. Additionally, there almost is a feeling of sexual tension
taken from this sequence of imagery. Atwood s imagery, however, feels distant from a manly nature
and certainly less sensual. The phrases bird suit and squatting nearly provide the picture of an
absurd environment; meanwhile feathery maniacs and fatal and valuable radiate a graver tone. The
imagery along with the tone influences the reader to understand and feel sympathy for this poor
Siren, for she abhors what she is. Overall, the poem starts enchantingly threatening, then turns to be
relatively innocent, and lastly closes with a similar grave and lethal or clever

Hegel Alienation Research Paper
G.W.F. Hegel made enormous contribution to the development of the concept of alienation in
discursive terms. Hegel s The Phenomenolgy of Mind elucidates the concept of alienation and self
alienated spirit which however here have consequences far more significant and opposite to the
generalized concept of alienation . He bases his account of the development of human spirit and
human self development on the premise of the concept of alienation. To Hegel, the self is a
historical and social creation. It develops through a process of alienation and its overcoming, self
estrangement and self recognition, a fall into division and reconciliation (Sayers 2). By the term
alienation in this instance, Hegel refers to self alienation in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By his own admission, Fromm has chosen the concept of alienation as the central point to develop
the analysis of the contemporary social character (The Sane Society 107). It is because, he says,
this concept seems to touch upon the deepest level of the modern personality and it is the most
appropriate if one is concerned with the interaction between the contemporary socio economic
structure and the character structure of the average individual (108). Fromm equates the
phenomenon of alienation with the effects of capitalism on personality. By alienation he means a
mode of experience in which the person experiences himself/herself as an alien, ceases to
experience himself/herself as the centre of his world, as the creator of his/her own acts and takes
to obeying or even worshipping his/her acts and their consequences as his/her masters (117). He

Napoleon Bonaparte Thesis
Introduction
Napoleon was the son of Carlo Buonaparte and Letizia Buonaparte, born in Corsica. He started off
as a rather disliked man by his fellow officers, although his stunning military victories allowed him
to quickly rise through the military rankings. At the young age of twenty five, he was promoted to
the rank of brigadier general. Shortly after the coup d etat of 1799, when Napoleon overthrew the
Directory, he became the young emperor of France determined to strengthen and expand his empire.
Thesis
Although many viewed Napoleon Bonaparte as a ruthless dictator, he could ve also been
considered a child of the Enlightenment, based upon his numerous reforms. Napoleon wrote out the
Civil Code, or Code Napoleon. This document granted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only did he centralize the administrative system, he also kept eighty three departments from
the Revolution. Furthermore, taxation was made more efficient and fair. Also, promotion in
office was based on skill, and not whether or not one was born into a noble family. Napoleon also
shared the idea of Rousseau on having a general will or consensus, as he held a plebiscite where
people could vote yes or no.
Con Enlightenment Reforms
Although he wrote the Code Napoleon, he also took away rights from women. For example, a
woman could be convicted for adultery and imprisoned if caught with another man. On the other
hand, a man could have as many mistresses as he wanted, as long as he did not bring one home.
Napoleon took away rights from Jews, despite being religiously tolerant towards every other
religion.
Napoleon restored slavery to the French caribbean islands, and even executed Toussaint Louverture,
a man who led a successful slave rebellion against Napoleon in Haiti.
Napoleon censored many newspapers in France and exiled Germaine de Stael, a woman who wrote

Deoxyribonucleic acid or its more common name DNA is the hereditary material that makes up
all humans and living organisms. DNA is an incredibly complex molecule that acts as an
instruction book for cells. This molecule was discovered in the late 1800 s by a Swiss biochemist
named Friedrich Miescher. Miescher isolated analyzed and recognized DNAas a unique
macromolecule. Johannas Friedrich Miescher was born in 1844 to a distinguished scientific
family. In college, Miescher studied medicine but after his graduation in 1868, he decided to
pursue physiological chemistry. This was due to a hearing impairment caused by a severe attack
of typhoid fever. In 1869, he stayed at the laboratory of Felix Hoppe Seyler. By combining his
knowledge of medicine and organic chemistry he isolated and chemically characterized DNA. At
the time of this discovery, many believed that cells were largely made of proteins. Miescher
contradicted this opinion by noting that the presence of something that cannot belong among any
of the proteinsubstances known hitherto . He showed that this substance was derived from the
nucleus of the cellalone and, therefore, named it nuclein . He then went on to prove that nuclein
was present in many cells and contained phosphorous carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. These findings

Strategic Challenges For Local Communities
Strategic Challenges for Local Communities The Department of Homeland Security released the
2014 Quadrennial Homeland Security Review on June 18, 2014 as required by the Homeland
Security Act of 2002 and its amendments. This review outlined the current state of preparedness, as
well as the future areas of concentration. It also determined six strategic challenges facing the
nation: terrorist threat; growing cyber threats; biological concerns as a whole; nuclear terrorism;
transnational criminal organizations; and natural hazards. The basic building block of emergency
management in the U.S. is the local community. Each step begins here. Threat assessments are
completed on the local level. Planning, mitigation, and response are all responsibilities of the local
community to support the state and Federal practice using the guidance provided by both.
One of the best guidance documents for these communities is the Comprehensive Preparedness
Guide 201 (CPG201). In this guide, communities will complete the Threat and Hazard
Identification and Risk Assessment. The THIRA has a detailed four step process in developing a
robust Risk Assessment to allow the community to develop its plans. The first step is to identify the
threats and hazards of concern to the community. Some of the challenges described by the
Department of Homeland Security may not be applicable to the community or may pose extremely
limited threat. The second step in to give the threats context which states how

The next improvement that we see in Gilgamesh involves his voyage to the Cedar Forest where he

of his people. Gilgamesh is honored for his actions and the people of Uruk enjoy the newly
opened Cedar Forest. The destruction of Humbaba and opening of the Cedar Forest provides more
resources for the people of Uruk and betters their lives. Here we see Gilgamesh uncharacteristically
thinking with others in mind. Right when Gilgamesh seems to be making progress in becoming a
better king, however, he returns to a state of selfishness after Enkidu s death. Rather than remaining
in Uruk, as he should, he travels to find Utnapishtim in search of immortality.
During Gilgamesh s search for immortality, we once again see improvement in his character. When
Utnapishtim offers Gilgamesh a rejuvenating plant, Gilgamesh plans to give it to the elderly in
Uruk rather than keeping it to himself. Here we see that Gilgamesh has been humbled. Although a

Former Child Soldiers
The facts speak for themselves. The majority of former child soldiers suffer from at least one
mental impairment such as post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and other disorders
that makes it extremely hard for them to function in everyday life as a member of society. many
former child soldiers also have issues with anger and irrational fear.
I believe that former child soldiers can become functional members of society. Children are
extremely resilient and can bounce back from traumatic experiences. However, the treatment and

Orpheus Compare Contrast
Orpheus and Eurydice, one of the more commonly known Greek myths, describes how Orpheus
attempts to use the power of music in order to retrieve his lover, Eurydice, from the Underworld.
Considered to be a classic, it has influenced many other works, such as the tale Izanagi and Izanami
from Genji Shibukawa s Tales from the Kojiki; the poem, Sir Orfeo; and the movie, What Dreams
May Come. Among them, these stories share the Orpheusmotif, which means that they generally
contain, in some form, the elements of separated lovers, a glance backwards, and the significance
of art.

In the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, Orpheus is hailed as the most talented musician in the
world. His music draws people in and even has the power to bring inanimate beings to life. The
extent of Orpheus musical talent gives him a chance to save Eurydice. It was through his music that
Hades and Persephone empathize with his grief of losing Eurydice, as the tale states, Nor could

would have allowed him to overcome her death, reflecting his devoted love for Eurydice. Similarly,
art in Sir Orfeo is represented through Orfeo s harp playing, which grants him the favor of the
Fairy King, allowing him to reunite with Heurodis. Additionally, his musical talent indirectly

of power and recognition. His harp playing allows Orfeo to save Heurodis and gain his kingdom

stories. For instance, in Izanagi and Izanami, art is presented in the form of literal creation, which
stems from the love between the two lovers. Tragically, this art is also what leads to the death of
Izanami, when, at the birth of Katgutsuchi no Kami, the deity of fire, an unseen misfortune befell
the divine mother (Shibukawa, 8). The death of Izanami from childbirth implies that death has a
direct relationship with art since the presence of creation is accompanied by the presence of
destruction. By contrast, in What Dreams

Taking a Look at Breast Cancer
Nearly one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer at some point in her or
his life (Breast Cancer Health Center, 2014). I am sure that almost everyone has been affected by
breast cancer in one way or another, whether they had it or know someone who has had it. My
mom s aunt had breast cancer, as did my dad s mother. My great aunt luckily caught it early on and
had it taken care of. Unfortunately, my grandmother caught it too late; it had spread all over her
body and eventually ended up being the cause of her death. It is important to know the risk factors
of developing breast cancerand what you can do to help prevent it, as well as knowing treatment
options if you or someone you know is diagnosed with it.
Breast cancer develops in the breast tissue. It develops primarily in the milk ducts or glands, and
can travel to other parts of the body. Even if it has traveled elsewhere, it is still called breast cancer.
If it has spread, it will usually be referred to as metastatic or advanced breast cancer (Breast Cancer
Health Center, 2014).
Although breast cancer can occur in both males and females, it is a lot more common in
females. In fact, men account for just one percent of all breast cancer cases. Breast cancer is the
most common cancer among women. In addition, it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths
only being preceded by lung cancer. Early detection of breast cancer can be lifesaving. If breast
cancer is detected early on, it is

My Sister Candice And I Were Sitting At Silence
My sister Candice and I were sitting in silence as the plane started to take off. As they had
announced before it was a full flight so Candice and I met a guy named Townsin and we talked
the whole flight. He showed us some magic tricks and Candice tried to do one, but she failed to
do so. When we landed in Omaha we said goodbye to our new friend and continued on our new
adventures. We had to wait for our friend Savannah to come and pick us up at the airport and
take us to the hotel where we were all staying. Savannah was working at the Olympic trials so
she and her dad Chuck had came a week earlier to help out. Chuck is the CEO of USA

The Most Memorable Writing Experience
Most Memorable Writing Experience: My Reflection on Writing I have been writing since I have
been in Middle School. I have realized that by college it was easier for me to write down my
thoughts in order for me to remember what I have said or done. Writing out my thoughts gives me a
sense of recollection, knowledge, and pacification that gets me through my day. I pictured writingto
be as simple as jotting down a few sentences, but as I got farther in school I realized that there is
more to it than just writing sentences. English has been my most difficult subject I have ever
endured, but I have somehow been managing to make excellent grades and achieving all
requirements. First in the essay, I will discuss my experiences in the English life that I ve taken so
far up until college. The second part will list my struggles in creating a thesis, a work cited, and
properly citing my sources used in the papers. My experience with English has changed
drastically from middle school to college. Being in middle school I have really had to do much of a
big paper, but as I progressed through college I ve realized there much more that has to be
added. I had always wondered why middle school was so easy but as years went on, I realized
that advancing to college there s a lot more requirements and importance to writing. In middle
school, I was young and just starting to really realize what an essay was and after high schoolI really
understood what an essay consists of. No matter how

Homework Fiend Or Foe Essay
Homework Fiend or Foe? Hook: Homework a student s worst nightmare. It can be to most kids that

Undocumented Criminals
Another prominent concern regarding undocumented immigrants in general is that of their criminal
intentions and activities. The notion that illegal immigrants only migrate to the United States to
perpetrate misdemeanors is mostly false. Because the majority undocumented immigrants are
overwhelming uneducated, this leads some natives to associate crimeand negativity with these
people. Yet according to a study conducted by the Pew Research Center, 80% of undocumented

that regardless of current education levels, the number of undocumented young people that are

how undocumented students are minuscule in number compared to legal students, undocumented

INTRODUCTION
IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, and other qualified plans are great ways to plan and save for retirement
(hereinafter, these plans are generally referred to simply as IRAs ). For many individuals, retirement
assets represent a substantial portion of their wealth. And although retirement plans were designed
to permit individuals to save for their own retirement, rather than to accumulate assets to pass to
younger generations, with the right planning implemented these plans can also become legacies for
your beneficiaries. This memo will discuss and illustrate the power of allowing your retirement
assets to grow in a tax deferred environment and how retirement assets can be structured to provide
the greatest benefit to your family.
Without completing the proper planning for IRA assets, you risk losing the ability to maximize
the benefits afforded by deferring the payment of income taxes on these funds. However, by taking
steps to carefully consider the ultimate disposition of these assets, you can ensure that your
beneficiaries receive a stretch of the asset (as explained below), as well as provide them with
protection against divorce, creditors and bankruptcy, and provide extra protection ... Show more

Contributions to IRAs (and any growth of those contributions) are taxed only when they are

intention was for IRAs to be used for people to save for their retirement (and then spend), rather
than to accumulate wealth and pass it to younger generations, the rules governing IRAs require a
certain amount of the accounts to be distributed to the IRA owner once he or she reaches a particular

The Importance Of Proper Representation Of Data
Abstract This paper discusses the importance of proper representation of data that is mined from
social media. The need for data mining and its various advantages are also discussed. The standard
tasks involved in data mining are explained. The discussion illuminates the various techniques that
can be used for representing the data (Textual representation, Tables, Graphs, Infographic). Draws
attention to the useful applications of data miningin varying degrees and illustrates the benefit of
this powerful technology. Suggests use of data visualization tools like Tableau, Qlikview to
evaluate, analyze and identify important parameters to gain deeper insights from the plethora of
data mined from social media.
Introduction
The widespread use of social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn have
been generating large amounts of data which are interchangeably known as social data. This data is
usually user generated, inconsistent, and incomplete and have geo information. This data can be
used by researchers or companies to extract meaningful information about human behavior, product
consumption, trends in markets, etc. Extraction and study of this data for useful purposes is called
data mining of social media. Since the number of techniques used to mine data are increasing
rapidly with time, it has become imperative to represent the data in a form which can be easily
understood. Data mining may consist of the following stages. First, data is extracted,

Cyber criminals take full advantage of the anonymity and secrecy provided by The Onion Router

Ns The National Security Agency
USA Today confirms: the National Security Agency has been secretly collecting the phone call
records of tens of millions of Americans, using data provided by AT T, Verizon and BellSouth.
With access to records of billions of domestic calls, the NSA has gained a secret window into the
communications habits of millions of Americans. (Opsahl 28 Sep. 2013) It s no secret that the U.S.
government agency known as the NSA, National Security Agency, has been monitoring phone calls
and Internet usage of United Statescitizens since the early 2000 s during George W. Bush s time
in office. During his presidency, Bush authorized the motorization of millions of citizen s phone
calls. (Tebbutt 25 Sep. 2013) The NSA created a secret program called The Highlander Program
which was designed to monitor satellite phone transmissions on the Inmarsat network in the
Middle East. During this secret program, the NSA did not monitor any United States citizens.
Bush claimed the surveillance was limited to the al Qaeda, but that simply was not the case.

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Great Debaters
The Great Debaters This is a piece of history with the Harvard and Wiley college debate from the
movie The Great Debaters with James Farmer Jr and Samantha Booke. This document takes
place during the time period where discrimination had a huge effect on the lives of blacks. The
purpose of this debate is to convince the audience whether or not civil disobedience is a moral
weapon. Ms. Booke and Mr. Farmer believe that justice isn t divided equally, and that civil
disobedience is a moral weapon in the fight of justice. The three modes of persuasion used are
ethos, pathos and logos. After the Harvard dean finished speaking, Wiley college was up next and

audience choose whether acting violently and letting innocent people die, but succeeding or acting

the first Harvard debater concluded his part of the debate Samantha Booke was next to speak. She

important it is to display love and respect even if they are your enemies and explains some things

when she says Gandhi also believes that law breakers must accept the legal consequences for their
actions. Leading into this quote Samantha applies a rhetorical question, Does that sound like
anarchy? Samantha uses this rhetorical question to make the audience question themselves about
their absence of authority. Samantha commences her second part of her speech by stating four

Social Satire In Candide
Satire is a very difficult strategy to understand in texts that authors often used to ridicule politics
and social stands. Voltaire uses to satirize European Society in his book called Candide. The book s
name comes from the main character s name of the book, Candide: a naive optimism person which
represents the European due to their high status. Voltaireshows the corruption and hypocrisy of
religion and philosophy through arguing that it is possible to challenge blind optimism without
losing the will to live and pursue a happy life through Candide. Candide s happiness is Miss
Cunegonde because even after he get kicked out, he still looks toward the magnificent castle, where

This blind philosophy was challenged many times. One of the example was during the
shipwreck when Pangloss prevented Candide from saving Honest James because Anabaptist had

just stated that Anabaptist is destined to die instead of giving every effort to save honest James.
How is Pangloss going to claim that all things happens for good reasons when he don t even have
the gut to do good deed and save Anabaptist? Candide s optimism has also been tested at the
Portuguese Earthquake when Dr. Pangloss has become the superstition sacrifice for the earthquake
because Pangloss was speaking his mind. If this is the best possible worlds, what are others like?

Difference Between Marketing Strategies of Physical and...
Slide One: The potential impact, in marketing terms, of the e business unit on the bricks and mortar
university is enormous. Oblinger (2001) has argued that, for a number of reasons, distance learning
has the potential to develop a truly global university. The exchanges between the business and the
customer are streamlined by the lack of physical barriers, and this can allow the school to transcend
international borders. The current physical school can only market within the United States, and
must bring students to the school physically. This limits the growth potential of the school. In
contrast, the e businesselement allows for marketingall around the world. The school can develop
curriculum for a number of different countries in order to build local businesses, all through the
centralized website. In addition, the school can train professionals all around the world for
careers in the US, Canada, the UK or other nations. This broadens the pool of potential health care
practitioners considerably, something that benefits all Western nations, most of which face a
shortage of qualified health care workers. The school will adhere to high level standards, so that
its degrees are widely recognized. There will also need to be policies in place that facilitate the
learning of students from all over the world, so that the environment is healthy and supportive for
all.
On a practical level, the school can facilitate real time learning by developing features and

Hampton Machine Tool Essay
Hampton Machine Tool Company, a machine tool manufacturer, was founded in 1915. Hampton s
customer base is made up primarily of military aircraft manufactures and automobile manufactures
in the St. Louis area. Hampton felt the boom in the 1960s with record setting profits in the mid to
late 1960s. Hampton slowed down in the 1970s with the withdrawal from Vietnam War and the oil
embargo. Hampton stabilized by the late 1970s and now has a larger market share as other
competitors were unable to make it through the tough times. It is now September 14, 1979
Hampton has asked for an extension to the end December 1979 on the $1 million loan they took
out from the St. Louis National Bank at the end of December 1978. The loan was originally... Show

Not paying the dividends is the number one thing Hampton must remove from their current cash
budget plan.
They can start to repay some of the principle as soon as possible to reduce the interest payments.
This will help reduce the amount of interest paid in total (Exhibit 2). While this solution does not
eliminate the problem of still being unable to repay the full loan, they are able to lessen their
cash shortage. The assumptions I used for this budget was that approximately $500,000 on hand
is all they will need from month to month. I also assumed the $500,000 on hand is not earning
interest which would also help generate cash which would help in repayment. The ending cash
on hand for October is $710,000 to help cover for November which has a larger amount of cash
outflows then cash inflows. This on it s own would bring their cash shortage to $319,500 a savings
of $12,000. Still this along with the removal of the $150,000 in dividends will still not eliminate
their cash shortage. With the two combined, they still will have a shortage of $169,500. (Exhibit 3)
They can extend the repayment to the future when it will be possible for them to be repaid. I
have worked a cash budget out into January of 1980 when they will be able to collect the cash
from the large number of orders they expect to finish in December. I made the assumption that the
proceeds from a sale would not be collected until next month since their sales terms are net 30 and

Occupational Therapy Case Study Essay
Occupational therapy, to me, is rehabilitation services that are given to a client in order for them
to regain or obtain as much independence as possible to fulfill meaningful activities in their daily
lives. This particular case study is about AK, a 2 year old girl diagnosed with diplegia. As a future
occupational therapist, it is important to assess everything about our clients in order to implement
successful interventions. Occupational therapists are skilled in evaluating all aspects of the
domain, their interrelationships, and the client within his or her contexts and environments
(AOTA, 2014). According to the AOTA Practice Framework, occupations are the daily life
activities in which people engage (AOTA, 2014). For AK, her mentioned occupations include
being a sister to her brother and a daughter to her parents. At her age she would be resting, sleeping,
and most importantly actively participating in play, but the case study did not bring attention to it.
Due to her functional deficits, AK s activities of daily living were affected. Her ability to bath,...

Client centeredness is the core of our profession, so her family would play a vital role in her therapy
services. Obtaining the occupational history without her family being present would almost be
impossible. AK is too young to ask necessary questions to. After doing an initial evaluation, I would
include her family to create different goals for AK. Educating them on the importance of their
services at home, together we can provide essential care to AK. Another step in the occupational
therapy process that I would include her support system in is the re evaluation phase. This step is
important for them to see and witness AK s progress, if any. After that, changes can be made if
needed to fit AK s skills. In summary, families, friends, spouses, and caregivers are just as
important as our

Red Lobster Research Paper
We all love dining out for good food and laughter with our family, friends or significant other.
Whether it s a birthday, an anniversary or a casual night on the town, eating at the right restaurant,
that offer good food, great price and a fine dining experience is dependent on the restaurant you
choose. That s what made Red lobster my favorite. it is not just a night of eatingout, it is an
experience. Not only do they have some of the most succulent crab legs there is, or because they
have the best appetizer which is their signature Cheddar Bay biscuits, but because of the ambience
that you are greeted with when you approached to dine in a Red Lobster restaurant.
The ambience of the restaurant seeks to replicate the ocean. The design evokes an atmosphere of
relaxation at a seaside retreat such as cascading water filled lobster tanks and brightly painted
fish sculptures, also huge decoration of lobster on the walls, which give me a beach like feeling
along with beach blue seats which give you the feel of the blue ocean. Like many restaurants Red
Lobster has claimed it will provide an atmosphere for its guest along with tasty seafood and
excellent customer service, their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

their go to dishes. However, it is not the same. The atmosphere doesn t I have been to a lot of
different restaurants that serve crab legs and shrimp, but I always end up with a smaller portion,
poorer quality crab legs, smaller lobster tails and a higher bill. Not to mention there is so much to
eat that I always have a take home bag at the end of our

  • 2. Similarities Between Frankenstein Or The Modern Prometheus In Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, Or the Modern Prometheus she discusses the issue of rebirth through the hands of humans and how man is attempting to imitate God or nature, which can lead to disastrous results. The internal struggles of Victor Frankenstein and his relationship with his creature is some that not only affects them but his family and community as a whole. This story of creation and punishment is one that has been told for centuries and is what Shelley s own novel was inspired by, the legend of the Greek Titan Prometheus. She uses the story of Prometheus as basis for Frankenstein; the connection between a creator and its child, the punishment for taking something that was not within your power or authority to take and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Prometheus was punished, it was as a result of the fact that he wanted to better his creation but in stark contrast to that Victor punishment is somewhat internal and not at all for any sort of compassion or love. Prometheus displayed the actions of a good creator whilst Victor was the opposite. He was consistently attempting to assist and advance the humans, while Victor, in contrast was constantly displaying his disgust in his own creation and in no way tried to help him assimilate to society. Victor doesn t express any other emotion towards the monster other than disgust and revulsion after its birth, once he realized what he had done he proclaims that, now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart (Ch.5, p.59). The creature himself, after learning to speak and write from the backyard of a family, expresses to Victor how the effect of his neglect has left him, where he describes the pain and torment of abandonment from your own creator. Exploration in the 1500 s relates back to US history because during the Age of Exploration America was founded. Portugal took the lead in search of the first all water route to Asia. To control trades with Asia was Portugal s number one priority. Portuguese sailors used a ship named caravel to sail the seas. It had a triangular sail and three masts. The Importance Of Being Earnest Oscar Wilde Sodomy In 1861 the death penalty for sodomy was abolished with a lesser sentence of two years for attempted sodomy put in its place (Fordham.edu), although at this time lesbian relationships were not seen as a crime and were sometimes tolerated by society. The fact that Homosexuality was not only frowned upon but also illegal could allude to the idea that effeminacy , an alternative form of masculinity; where a man displays traits that are often more associated with feminine gender roles, was seen as unwholesome. In 1885 parliament would enact the Labouchere Amendment, a law that was put into place that prohibited gross indecency between men and to prosecute said men when sodomy could not be proven. Ten years later acclaimed author of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest Oscar Wilde, was convicted on twelve counts of sodomy (history.com, 2017). Miescher isolated analyzed and recognized DNAas a unique macromolecule. Johannas Friedrich Miescher was born in 1844 to a distinguished scientific family. In college, Miescher studied medicine but after his graduation in 1868, he decided to pursue physiological chemistry. This was due to a hearing impairment caused by a severe attack of typhoid fever. In 1869, he stayed at the laboratory of Felix Hoppe Seyler. By combining his knowledge of medicine and organic chemistry he isolated and chemically characterized DNA. At the time of this discovery, many believed that cells were largely made of proteins. Miescher contradicted this opinion by noting that the presence of something that cannot belong among any of the proteinsubstances known hitherto . It was through his music that Hades and Persephone empathize with his grief of losing Eurydice, as the tale states, Nor could the rigid king, or queen of Hell / Th impulse of pity in their hearts repell (Garth, 4). Orpheus music would have allowed him to overcome her death, reflecting his devoted love for Eurydice. Similarly, art in Sir Orfeo is represented through Orfeo s harp playing, which grants him the favor of the Fairy King, allowing him to reunite with Heurodis. Additionally, his musical talent indirectly allows him to retake his throne by granting him an audience with the ruler of the kingdom he left behind. When Orfeo approaches the steward, who he had given the throne to, the steward welcomes him with, Of that ichave, thou schalt have some. / Everich gode harpour is welcom me to / For mi lords love, Sir Orfeo (Tolkien, 516 18). In Sir Orfeo, music can be seen as a form of power and recognition. His harp playing allows Orfeo to save Heurodis and gain his kingdom back in the end. However, music is not the only form of art represented in the Orpheus motif stories. For instance, in Izanagi and Izanami, art is presented in the form of literal creation, which stems from the love between the two lovers. Tragically, this art is also what leads to the death of Izanami, when, at the birth of Katgutsuchi no Kami, the deity of fire, an unseen misfortune befell the divine mother (Shibukawa, 8). Writing out my thoughts gives me a sense of recollection, knowledge, and pacification that gets me through my day. The assumptions I used for this budget was that approximately $500,000 on hand is all they will need from month to month.
