My Internship At The Superdome
Over the first month of my new internship, I had the opportunity to work on new projects and
experience many new things. For instance, my supervisor gave me the responsibility of inventing a
new program for the Superdome. When the idea was presented and approved, I then was in charge of
creating the marketing campaign. The new program was to introduce the idea of having a company
picnic or company outing at the Superdome to large corporations. They would be able to rent out the
entire Dome, 80,000 square feet of field space, as well as a party room and outdoor fields to use for
their employees and employees families. My first mission was to create a flyer for which I could
advertise the new program and event to the corporations. Draft ... Show more content on

For example, yesterday was the start of our Summer camps. Children have the option of paying for
lunch in the morning, $5 a day, or $20 for the week on Mondays. I was writing the names down,
indicating whether they paid for the day or the week. Today, Tuesday, I did the same thing, however, I
noticed it was difficult to find the names of the children who paid for the week because it was not
alphabetized. I also found it difficult to stay organized with people who were paying for the rest of the
week, for just that day, or who were checking in for their stamp. Therefore, when all the commotion
cleared from the lobby, I sat down and figured out a new system to implement tomorrow, for a
smoother, easier way of lunch check in. I also have noticed that the Superdome can be unorganized in
its staffing of coaches. A lot of the coaches are college students and have all different schedules.
Therefore, it is difficult to know who is coming in for what event, and it is even more difficult to
figure out who is coming in, if they are not already in, when the time comes. My plan is to coordinate
a system of staffing to distribute the most effective and organized way of communication and
efficiency. This way, all of the employees can know who and when someone is

Daodejing Contradictions
The Daodejing is a collection of chapters from ancient China. The chapters explain why things happen
the way they do. In order to understand everything that exists and the way it exits, the Daoists explain
dao which means the way. The way helps people to find their way to excellence during a time of
turmoil and strife. Life as it is known is uncertain and unclear. Daodejing uses a non logical approach
to explain the uncertainties in life. The authors of this ancient text use contradictions to prove their
points because logic cannot always be used as a guide. Contradictions help to find balance and teach
people to live in a world without having a full understanding of things. According to chapter 15, it was
stated that those who prize way making

Discuss The Argyle Communication Cycle Theory
The Argyle s Communication Cycle Theory:
The Argyle s communication cycle theory is process commonly used in the health and social care
sector to explain how communication can be effective, this is a theory in which can enable a person to
understand what is being said or wrote, and to be able to respond to the conversation appropriately.
This theory has six stages and these include;
Stage one of the Argyle is when the idea is thought of by the communicator, and include them to adapt
their words and expressions to match the audience the conversation is for; e.g. the elderly; we may
have to talk louder as some elderly people (Or some young people/adults with hearing
problems.)cannot hear the same as when they were younger, children; may need more expressions and
fewer words, the body language used should be calm and inviting and voices should be calm and
gentle rather than tense, or even a work colleague; will need to have clear communication together in
order to be able to do your job effectively and to complete your daily duties within the job. . The
sending of the message is known as encoding , at this stage the communicator is planning what needs
to be said, this stage is very effective as it can help conversations to be delivered in an effective way,
for example; if a doctor needs to tell his patient that they have cancer, he should plan his words or
expressions very carefully so not to hurt the patient or make them feel worse than they are.
The second stage is when the

Method of Doubt Essay
Method of Doubt
Descartes applied illusion argument, dreaming argument, and evil genius argument that is called
method of doubt to achieve his goals: Mind and body are two different substances, the complete
separation of the mental world and the physical world. Once, he claims that even awake or asleep, two
plus three is always five. Even evil genius fakes us, we probably think two plus three is four but in
fact it always exist as five and it is always true. Lets look at this example: If I think that it s sunny
outside, I can be wrong about sun but I cannot be wrong about my thinking that it s sunny. So, no
matter if I am being deceived or dreaming either way I am thinking, which is certain knowledge. Even

I don t remember being born but that does not mean that I wasn t thinking at the time. During the night
we might be woken up by a loud sound, but after we wake up we might not remember a thing. It still
remains that even though we can t remember any thought before we wake, we know that there was
because we heard the noise and woke up. We still have experiences while asleep whether they are
dreams or experience of hot or cold or a smell or a sound. We know we still experience them because
they arouse us to wakefulness and therefore are experience while in deep sleep. Therefore, it is
possible that while in deep sleep we might not remember everything we thought but we are still
thinking or else we would probably never wake up. Think about how you wake up at any time and it is
obvious that some thought is involved. And the wakefulness by loud sound or disturbance is also
called reaction but not the interaction of body and mind. Mind is conscious and non spatial and body
is spatial but not conscious. While separate, these two substances interact. The mind, which can t be
doubt or divided or extended, no shape but it is to think in the pursuit of knowledge and the body, in
return, can be doubt, divided, extended, occupied space, is a place containing brain that generates
thought. Descartes asserts that the mind and body are separable and infinite by using his method of
doubt to show that he could not doubt the existence of his mind. As long as we think,

Role Of The Cultural Perspective When Dealing With Conflict
For any international organization, understanding cultural differences is very significant in the global
context. The article analyzes the role and impact of the cultural perspective when dealing with conflict
in the global context. What seems like a perfectly reasonable approach in one culture may seem
ridiculous, disrespectful, inefficient, or unfair to managers from other cultures. Japanese and German
managers may be uneasy with conflict resolution preferences that differ from their own. (Adams,
p.110.) The understanding that organizational and global cultures vary results in the connected
research supported in several businesses in diverse fields.
This research did not only use the preferences of superiors employed in multicultural environments,
when analyzing, but explored the role of each individual s culture in defining a possible resolution. If
managers insist on their cultural preferences as the way to resolve disagreements, more disagreements
will emerge because of misunderstood processes for resolving disagreements. The results of this study
suggest that effective conflict resolution may need to begin with the recognition of different cultural
preferences for resolution strategies. Only then can further attempts at resolution proceed effectively.
In other words, focus on the where before jumping into the how. (Adams, p.110)
Creating a workplace environment that enables employees to flourish includes the recognition that
cultural diversity is important.

Why The Slave Is The Fourth Of September By Frederick...
On July 5th, 1952, Frederick Douglass addressed the ladies of the Rochester Anti Slavery Sewing
society in his famous speech, titled What to the slave is the fourth of July? 1 In this address, Douglass
points out the hypocrisies between the principles of the American Constitution and the way in which
American society functioned at the time. Prior to this speech, his early experiences, friendships, and
observations of different aspects of society pushed him to advocate for the participation of blacks in
American democracy and freedom, and later in opposition to the many voices within the abolitionist
movement that argued for the opposite. While Douglass saw the blatant contradictions between the
words of the Revolution and the way in which marginalized groups were treated by most of the ruling
white male population, he was by no means against the principles outlined within the Declaration of
Independence or the United States as a nation. Douglass s thought was very much an olive branch
between the ruling white class and the enslaved and disenfranchised black population. His self made
story, inspiring influences, and determination to promote American freedom amongst the many evil
aspects in the country he lived in made him one of the most important intellectual figures in the road
to abolishing slavery.
Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in Talbot County, Maryland in 1818 to a black slave mother
and a white father whom he did not know. From his early days, he was able

located in the east region in East Asia but since 1945. The country was divided into two distinct
sovereign states named North Korea and South Korea.
The very 1st wave of Koreans arrived on January 13 ,1903. Koreans made its way to the Hawaiian

Book Report On The Boy Scout Troop
It was early in the year 2012 when I encountered my first craving for sleep, just before a backpacking
excursion. I was one of only two patrol leaders in my Boy Scout Troop, and I wanted to be the best
leader. I was hungry for it. My 12 year old brother, Luke, was the other patrol leader and he helped
keep a healthy rivalry between our patrols. My patrol s name was the Golden Grizzlies, and Luke s
patrol name was the Spartans. Previously, the Golden Grizzlies demolished the Spartans in every
challenge that was put in front of us, prior our last camping trip. Luke and I were discussing the
upcoming Boy Scout trip to Henry Coe in Stanislaus County during our journey home from a family
camping trip. He became exasperated, due to his frustration of losing to the Golden Grizzlies. He
ended his next sentence with, You ll see, David. This trip, things will be different. The Spartans will
eradicate all of the Golden Grizzlies. As we unpacked, he mumbled about how things were going to
change; I started to become concerned and pondered about whether or not my innocent brother would
sabotage my patrol. The night before the trip, we slept at the church that we meet at for our meetings.
This is where things really started to degrade. It was one o clock in the morning and I was beginning
my slumber, when Luke and his friend came into the sanctuary where I was camped out . They were
both hysterical and had massive tears in their eyes. I sat up, in a rather startled state, and proceeded

Tragedy And The Modern Man By Arthur Miller Essay
In the reading Tragedy and the Modern Man written by author Arthur Miller, it states, I believe that
the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings were. Arthur Miller
describes what the true meaning of a tragic hero is throughout his reading. This quote that Miller
includes shows us that any human being can suffer a tragedy as because we are a human being. To
suffer through a tragedy, no matter how big or small, is what makes you truly a hero and successful.
No matter what your social class may be, whether you are a common man or a king, when exposed to
any circumstances, one can suffer a tragedy. Miller believes that facing a tragedy is pro rather than a
con. Although, to suffer through the pain may be difficult for some, the experience and knowledge of
how to overcome the situation in the future is more powerful than avoiding the pain.
...the tale always reveals what has been called his tragic flaw, a failing that is not peculiar to grand or
elevated characters. Nor is it necessarily a weakness. Miller mentions this in his reading as he explains
that to have a flaw is not always something bad, but something good and something you should
accept, rather than believing you are someone you truly are not. A great example of this comes from
the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. Throughout this novel, the main character, Okonkwo,
is known to be the complete opposite of his father just because he was not successful like the rest of

What Is The Film Picnic At Hanging Rock
Picnic at Hanging Rock is a spectacular film released in 1975, created with the beauty of the
Australian landscape, and a physical representation of director Peter Weir s fascination with the way
the extraordinary and irrational lurk threateningly at the edges of the ordinary and the rational.
Based on a book by Joan Lindsay, Picnic at Hanging Rock takes us to a girls finishing school in
Australia during 1900, where a group of teenage girls and their teachers embark on a picnic trip to a
local landmark the Hanging Rock. While the girls rest at the foot of the rock, a group of four girls
begins to explore the rock. However, something unexplained happens and three of the girls fail to

Some believe its true while others believe it s a myth. Regardless, it is a haunting yet engaging film
that captures the serenity and mystic of Hanging Rock located in central Victoria, Australia and the
harshness and mystery of the Australian bush.
Picnic at Hanging Rock brilliantly captures the bush landscape and hot climate of Australia in multiple
high and low angled scenes throughout the entire film. The way the camera cleverly projects the scale
of the vegetation and rock compared to the size of the young girls shows the vast size and contrasts of
our Australian landscape. The blinding sun against some of the scenes causes the characters dizziness
and fatigue, surreally contrasting the rock s beauty and the danger it presents.
The composer, Peter Weir also creates a dense, dream like atmosphere throughout the film that forever
is on the verge of intoxicating the viewers, as is does the lead characters, in an overpowering sense of
longing and repression. With soft focus lenses and careful camera tilts, Weir takes us into a world of
golden glows and gentle whispers, where the characters exist as hazy, evocative

Environmental Pollution, Cause And Causes Of The Love Canal
In 1890 a massive environmental pollution struck a neighborhood within Niagara falls, New York,
called The Love Canal. The love canal was originally intended to e a model plan community, the love
canal was a residential area before being purchased by the Hooker chemical company. The problem
began after its sale to the local school district project. The toxic waste dumped under grounds affected
the health conditions that lasted a lifetime to numerous families. The neighborhood demolished and
according to the New York state health department was considered a national symbol of a failure to
exercise a sense of concern for future generations. But the worse is that the Love Canal tragedy can
happen again anywhere in the country unless serious matters are taken to prevent it.
It all began in 1890, William T. Love an ambitious entrepreneur dreamed of building a community
filled with parks and residences believing in twould serve the industry with hydroelectricity. In May
1894, work on the canal begun, Love digged the canal along with building some streets and houses.
Unfortunately Love had to abandon the project due to economical disastrous. With the abandoned
project, the canal gradually filled with water. Local children swam there during summer time and
skated during winter. In the 1920s, the canal became a dump site for the city of Niagara Falls, the city

The Prisoner of War Ethic
Early on in the semester, I have found that Chapter 12 has been one of the more intriguing sections to
read. After deciding on a topic for the paper, I combed the book for interesting topics that could relate
to the prisoner of war ethic. In many ways I started my journey with Chapter 12; making it all the
more fitting that I end here as well.
Chapter 12 and the section on Prima Facie Duties cover a good range of personal subjects. This
chapter espouses the ideal that communication is not confined to national or even international
borders. Kales Human Nature, for example, proposes the importance of the human spirit over cultural
boundaries. Though it is not easy, we must communicate with others in a way that does not reflect
back on our own biases and stereotypes in other forms of intercultural communication. And I am
personally fascinated by the concept of moral exclusion. The ability to which we are able to extend
rights to other people is reflective of where they lie in our sphere of moral consideration, I believe.
One of the eight stages of genocide dehumanization comes to mind. As the book notes, this
dehumanization is reflected in communication. Communication, such as propaganda, that lowers the
status of others exemplifies this dehumanization.
We have a tremendous capacity, to turn people into less than us, and once you do that, you can justify
a hell of a lot of awfulness. Greg Pirmann

Character Analysis Of Lulu
According to author Lyn Gardner of the guardian.com Lulu is described as the face that launched a
thousand fantasies. She is all things to all men . . . She is a blank. She is what you want her to be. Her
name is Lulu, and she is nothing but trouble (Gardner). The First Lulu gleans the drama, deception,
lies, and vengeance akin to play s Don Giovanni and Don Juan. However, one of the primary
differences remains is Lulu s character is a woman. However, Lulu is no less cunning, in fact her
character is more cavalier and unrepentant in her unfaithfulness to men compared to Don Giovanni
and Don Juan combined. Alban Berg describes Lulu as a woman created for evil also destruction and

is banal Simple minded. No education. No inkling what impression he gives. Sees nothing, neither
himself nor me. Blind as a stovepipe (qtd. in Wedekind 80).
Although Schooning has ulterior motives, he has enough concern for the lady he desires to marry and
his friendship with Schwartz to end the affair. Schoning says when Schwartz married Lulu, he became
his friend (qtd. in Wedekind 80). Therefore, Schoning encourages Lulu to settle down, Schoning says
take him in hand. That s what any wife has to do . . . If he has no education, what about . . . The sacred
ties of . . . ? (qtd. in Wedekind 81). Thus, Lulu has no respect for the relationship affirmed in her
statement suspicious as a thief yet lets himself be lied to and deceived . . . One loses all respect . . . On
our wedding night, I made him believe I was still a virgin (qtd. in Wedekind 82). As the play
continues, Lulu s unfaithfulness continues, and she uses many men to get whatever she pleases.
Moreover, Lulu switches male partners similar to changing costumes witnessed in the video clip
Pandora s Box. However, the most saddening part of the play lies in the woman Gerschwitz.
Moreover, Gerschwitz loved Lulu passionately and desperately wanted to be with her. Yet as the play
continued Gerschwitz heart darkens as a result of the continued rejection from Lulu. Also,

Aladdin The Musical Reflection
The theater was largely attended by children and toddlers. To my surprise, I noticed that there were a
decent number of adults attending the show too. I was not sure if they were dragged into the show by
their own children or that they came to watch the performance willingly. Unfortunately, I was dragged
into the theater to watch Aladdin the Musical with my younger siblings during a family outing in
Disneyland. I tried my best to spot other adolescents in the theater. However, it felt like I was the only
one. Embarrassed, I sat in deeper into my seat, hoping that no adults could find and criticize me.
Aladdin the Musical uses the same plot from the movie, Aladdin as a foundation for their own plot.
The plot is about how a thief was destined to be the prince of Agrabah with the help of a powerful
genie and how an evil vizier named Jafar desired to take over the kingdom of Agrabah by abusing the
genie s powers. As the emcee made his announcements, I assumed that I would fall asleep on the
cushioned seat from all the boredom I would experience from a children s fairytale. Surprisingly, I
was wide awake throughout the entire show. In fact, I enjoyed the performance very much.

follow the same storyline as the movie. For example, Aladdin was actually sent to prison by Jafar and
he escaped it by using one of the genie s three wishes but the performance altered their story so they
need not to reenact that scene. I also believed that the performance could have had more backstory.
For example, the performance did not inform the audience that Princess Jasmine was fussy about
choosing her suitors and that Jafar was trying to court her so that he can take over the kingdom of

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings By Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou is an author and poet who has risen to fame for her emotionally filled novels and her
deep, heartfelt poetry. Her novels mainly focus on her life and humanity with special emphasis on her
ideas of what it means to live. The way she utilizes many different styles to grab and keep readers
attention through something as simple as an autobiography is astounding. This command of the
English language and the grace with which she writes allows for a pleasant reading experience. Her
style is especially prominent in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings , where the early events of Angelou

Although postmodernism deals with serious themes, humor is often apparent in postmodern works
(1940s Postmodernism) and is prevalent in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. In the novel, when
Angelou was speaking about an elderly woman she disliked, she stated, I decided I wouldn t pee on
her if her heart was on fire (104). This subtly interjected humor and mixed literary style keeps stories
fresh and enticing to read.
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings opens up with a prologue where Angelou is expressing her
displeasure with being black. It is apparent from the very beginning that Maya feels a strong sense of
displacement and racial inferiority. She continually states that she wishes she was white and,
somewhat humorously, describes her appearance as [ . . . ] a too big Negro girl, with nappy black hair,
broad feet, and a space between her teeth that would hold a number two pencil (Angelou 4 5). This
however, is where her journey begins. Throughout her childhood Maya learns the proper skills to be a
lady and to live a Christian lifestyle. This helps her to discover herself as a person and begin to evolve
more during her teenage years.
As she grows older, Maya begins to search for explanations about herself and her ever changing life.
She ended up living in a junk yard for a month before she returned home to San Francisco. Here she
learned about racial tolerance which helped her to develop into her own person and accept the fact that

When I was eight I fractured my skull and got a severe concussion, and when I was fifteen, I was

responders arrived on the scene very quickly to save my life. I am grateful for the experienced
professionals that had the skills and knowledge they needed in order to save me, and to pay it back, I
decided I wanted to become a Paramedic. However, when I was researching how to become a
paramedic and other information about their job, I came across the sad fact that EMT s only make, on
average, 31,000 dollars a year. I am sure it is hard to live a comfortable life and provide for a family
on a salary of less than fifteen dollars per hour, and the fact that they make this little of an amount of
money is unacceptable. EMT paramedics need to make way more money than they do, because their
job is dangerous, it requires a lot of skills and knowledge, and they save multiple lives each and every
day. First, because the job of a paramedic is dangerous, physically demanding, and stressful, they
should be compensated with substantially more money. By helping other people who are in jeopardy,
first responders put their lives on the line all the time by, more often than not, going to risky places
and dealing with unstable people. An article that covers various information about the job of an

The primary Pubmed search recognized 55 articles.
We excluded six studies that were about gestational hypertension; eight that defined awareness as
knowledge of the effects of hypertension rather than awareness of hypertensive status ; fifteen review
papers and guidelines and five studies did not met the criteria.
Ultimately 21 studies were included in the systemaic review of the awareness, treatment and control

Table (3) summarizes cross sectional included studies showing their findings and results.
The sample size ranged from 27 subjects to 12008 subjects, and the age range from 6 95 years. All the
studies had both genders (male and female) represented. In most of the studies, the women were more
than the men in number of particepants.
From these studies, results about prevalence and knowledge of physicians were clear as following:
Hypertension prevalence increased ever more with age, with the exception of the oldest age group
(≥75 years). In the youngest age group, hypertension was present in 7.8% of the population. The
prevalence rate was 59.4% in the 65 74 age group[1].

Cannon to the right of them/ Cannon to the left of them The Charge of the Light Brigade has long held
its place in the public imagination. According to Denis Cummings, it is a symbol of heroic failure, a
Victorian icon of sacrifice and devotion to duty. The poem itself is a modified and dramatic depiction
of what the war was like. The poem, The Charge of the Light Brigade revises the real horrors of the
war by rendering it into more dramatic, motivational, and personal events.

it was joined by the second, they never halted or checked their speed an instant. (89) Standing in the

can end your life, but these soldiers raced to protect their country and to defeat their opponent. Not
only does vocabulary affect the dramaticism of the story, it gives a lifelike experience of what the war
was like. The effect of personalization can change how the story is accepted and understood. The
article could have just said that there were dead bodies, but it states, The plain was strewed with their

Poetry typically delivers events more deeply and memorably than the original. The Charge of the

The Charge of the Light Brigade does not emphasize and thoroughly describe the original story. But,
both the poem and the article emphasize that these 600 soldiers will always be remembered.

Social Contract Theory
In terms of the American political system, the most significant of the theories of the origin of the state
is that of the Social Contract . Philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes, James Harrington, and John
Locke in england and Jean Jacques Rousseau in France developed this theory in the seventeenth and
eighteenth centuries. Hobbes wrote that in earliest history humans lived in unbridled freedom, in a
state of nature, in which no government existed and no person was subject to any superior power

However, all people were similarly free in thes state of nature. No authority existed to protect one
person from the aggressive actions of another. Thus, individuals were only safe as their own physical
strength and intelligence could make them. Human beings overcame their unpleasant condition, says
the social contract theory, by agreeing with one another to create a state. By contract, people within a

Renegades on Strategic Group Map Essay
A key component to finding a firms place in a market is closely associated with the strategic group
map created by McKinsey consultants in 1996 (CITE). Using the strategic group map a company can
identify competitors and positioning against rival venues. After analyzing within a 50 mile radius, 8
Movie theaters, two malls, ice cream shops and Splash Down Water Park were found to be main
competitors. Positioning on the map consisted of Duration of Expenses on the vertical axis and
expense, respectively low to high. Among other competitor The Hudson Valley Renegades were
places at mid expense with a high duration of experience deeming it an overall attractive market to
consumers. When evaluating potential success of an innovation, ... Show more content on

Reversely, buyer power is deemed to be low. Ticket prices are relatively cheap, as the Renegades have
exhausted many options leaving little room available alternative products. Barriers of entry directly
correlate with proximity and profit. As the Renegades have become an established minor league team,
it s in another s teams interest to locate where a Minor League team isn t situated. A team situated in
close proximity to Dutchess stadium would not obtain the same profit as it would be directly
competing against an already well established company. The new entrant would fiscally be making a
better decision if it were to locate a highly dense population area with few barriers of entry unlike
Dutchess County. There are three towns with substitutes that are main competitors to the Renegades.
Wappinger Falls, New York holds two locally owned parks and a Fun Central, a game entertainment
geared towards families. Poughkeepsie, New York holds the Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall, a
recreational Walkway over the Hudson, and Empire Cruise lines for day trips. Fishkill hold

Compare And Contrast Stephen Hawking And St. Thomas Of The...
I think the universe was created out of nothing according to the laws of science. It has no beginning
and no end. Stephen Hawking. Throughout the ages there has been countless beliefs on how the
universe may have been created. Some people have concluded the universe was by designed by a God
while others have concluded the universe was formed in the beginning and end of singularities that
formed a boundary to spacetime to which the laws of science breaks down. Since 500 B.C and present
time, countless of people have formed theories . Sadly, numerous of theorists don t have concrete
proof. In spite of this, people can still compare and contrast theories people have made such as
Stephen Hawking and St. Thomas of the Aquinas. Before looking at the similarities and differences of
Stephen Hawking and St. Thomas of the Aquinas, it is important to understand their background and
how they came to be. St. Thomas was born in Aquino, Italy in 1225. He studied in the Paris, France
and Cologne, Germany. His teacher was Albert the Great. Aquinas was later ordained a Dominican
Priest. He went on to publish his masterpiece, The Summa Theologica, used human reasoning to
harmonize the truths of the Bible with Greek Philosophy. In the Summa Theologica St. Thomas wrote
five proofs to elucidate furthermore to God s existence. The First Proof is Prime Mover: nothing can
move itself so therefore the mover must be God. The Second Proof the Uncreated Creator: nothing can
create itself so God is the invisible creation maker. Third is Necessary Being all existent things depend
upon other things for their existence, there must exist at least one being. Fourth perfect standard by
which all is measured. Lastly Intelligent Designer: everything in the universe is intelligent the being
that created us is intelligent. St. Thomas would later stop publishing his works because he thought
humans have a small glimpse of the whole universe. However, Stephen Hawking s story differs from
St, Thomas. Stephen Hawking was born on January 8, 1942 in Oxford, England. He later attended
Cambridge University for his doctorate and meet his wife Jane. During one of Stephen s classes his
professor invited him to see a lecture on a

Macro Partisanship Summary
The reading on macropartisantish this week lead us to a simple conclusion and that is what is a good
measure of partisanship. Measuring artisanship seem to be primordial to study that phenomenon. The
first step in that study might be the conceptualization. The fight different between Mackuen, et al and
Abramson and Ostrom was mainly about the source of the data. Asking question about someone
partisanship or the party he usually affiliate himself to are 2 different things. Asking the first question
might lead to bugger shift in partisanship in their result because people might change their affiliation
based on current events or the economic performance of an incumbent candidate. To know if
economic performance can lead to a change in macro partisanship ... Show more content on

I think it is also worth noting that Green and Palmquist use the NES poll data in their study which
bring us back to the first question which is how to accurately measure partisanship? If question asked
by pools can heavily change the result of studies we need to know what question to ask when we are
measuring short term variance and when we are measuring long term variance. I think the Gallup poll
might be useful to measure the short term variance in macro partisanship and the NES and GSS poll
might be effecting when it comes to long term shifts in partisanship. However these article failed to
discuss the polls in general and find if the interviewed population is representative of the US
population. Abramson and Ostrom also briefly talked about the effect telephone poll can have on polls
result but it was discussed in depth. In last week Alan S. Gerber and Donald P. Green found positive
effect of personal contract on voting. Doing interviews for polls might have better result than

Multiprotocol Label Switching Essay
This paper will discuss one of the most popular and successful networking technologies in recent
memory. This technology is known as Multiprotocol Label Switching, or MPLS. Inspired by Ipsilon
Networks, developed by Cisco, and standardized by the IETF, this service has become a dominant
competitor. Independent think tank, Nemertes Research has estimated that nearly eighty five percent
of companies are already using MPLS today. Multiprotocol Label switching works at layer 2 and is a
new, alternative WAN service. Although it significantly differs from more traditional WAN
implementations, the creators were considerate of interoperability. Thus, MPLS is compatible with
other popular methods. Not only is it compatible, but it s also a means of ... Show more content on

MPLS encapsulated PDUs move through a WAN via Label Switched Paths (LSPs), which are similar
to Frame Relay s virtual circuits. PDUs with closely related paths are grouped into Forwarding
Equivalence classes (FECs). FECs are not synonymous with LSPs, as multiple FECs often traverse the
same LSP. Regular interior routing protocols are present on the WAN, but only to spread topology
data so that LSPs can be created. They are not involved in individual forwarding decisions. Traffic
engineering extensions can even be added to create backup LSPs and provide QoS.
MPLS has many advantages over competitive services. It was originally developed as a faster
technique for moving data between LANs. Since only a single router has to fully inspect incoming
traffic, and all others are merely reacting to the conclusions of this original inspection, speed is
improved from the paradigm. However many advancements in hardware have somewhat closed the
gap on this difference. Nonetheless, MPLS remains a fair choice for those who wish to optimize the
speed of their network, and it has many things to offer beyond that original intent. The Multiprotocol
part of it s name is important in explaining many of these perks. What is meant by multiprotocol is
that it s compatible with any network layer protocol. And not only that, it s also friendly with other
WAN services such as Frame Relay and ATM. This means that any existing legacy networks or variant
adjacent WANs will play well

Love Is Characterized By Oedipus The King And Diotima s...
In Symposium by Plato, a group of men gather around to seek one s full understanding of the
underestimated reasons of Love. Despite having different occupations, they all seem to agree on their
views of love except for Socrates. Socrates communicates that Love is a god, and then decides to add
that he came to his conclusion with the help of a woman named Diotima. Although their views of love
are similar, they are also different and can be seen through another philosopher s stories; Antigone and
Oedipus. Socrates definition of love is characterized by Oedipus the King and Diotima s definition of
love is characterized by Antigone. Socrates understanding of love is that love is a desire to be
conscious of what you need for something you do not have and for what you have because once you
have it you will not feel the need to want it anymore; love is also a display of what you already have
and are afraid to lose forever. Diotima s understanding of Love is that Love is not a god, love is a demi
god. Because, he is a demi god, he is in between wisdom and ignorance.
For example, on page/s () of Sophocles book Symposium:
Socrates understanding of love can be seen in Oedipus the King through Oedipus wife and mother
Jocasta. She desires to not have shame upon her throne. Once she has it, she then realizes that she does
not want it anymore and decides to take her own life. Jocasta had realized that Oedipus was her son,
she acted as if it did not matter because no one knew. It

The Controversy Of Evaluating Letter Grades
There has been a lot of debate about the way schools should be evaluating their students. Some say
that letter grades measure different levels of performance in school subjects and that letter grades also
motivate most students to do well. Others argue that the letter grade system is affecting the students
learning progress and their engagement; therefore, affecting those students in a negative way. There
are more appropriate ways to evaluate young students than to grade them. Trials have been done in
many schools throughout Canada where students are being assessed through summaries. These
summaries vary from letter grades since they provide information on the specific areas of struggle the
student may be facing and the opportunity for discussion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Students today spend the majority of their weekdays at schools which can result in stress due to many
factors. It is important for students to learn to cope with pressure because it is an important skill for
overall health. Grades can cause stress and anxiety in many ways. For example, a student that is
receiving bad grades can have stress because they feel pressured by the teachers or parents to get
better grades, and the student may feel that their peers are judging them because of their grades. On
the other hand, a student who is receiving good grades may feel stress due to the pressure of
maintaining their grades for the sake of their peer s judgement and parent s expectations. Sources of
stress in schools include: Teacher Interactions, Academic Stress, Peer Interactions, and Academic Self
Concept (Helms and Gable 6). The manifestation of stress results in emotional, behavioral, or
psychological distress (Helms and Gable 6). Grades are a factor in all of the sources mentioned, the
student may feel the teacher disapproves of them, their peers don t respect them, and their self esteem
will be impacted because of poor grades. This can result in behaviour and emotional issues which
further the student s insecurities and can cause psychological problems in the long term. Letter or
percentage grades say nothing about these issues, it is very difficult to spot stress in children and the
resulting behaviour due to stress can be misinterpreted if the parents and teachers are not made aware.
Summary assessments can help detect stress in students, where the student can explain how they are
feeling and the teachers and parents can detect high levels of stress. Test anxiety is another
manifestation of stress in students today; unfortunately, many schools and teachers face a huge
responsibility in which the students must perform well in order for teachers to keep their jobs and for
schools to

The Factors Of Political Socialization
Cheryl Lee
Robin Datta
November 13, 2015
Exam #2
Similar to many of the things we are introduced to growing up as humans, our political knowledge is
one of the things that does not derive from one specific source. Our thoughts on politics is constantly
evolving and maturing as we encounter different agents throughout our lives. These agents of political
socialization include our family, our education, the media, and many more. They shape our values and
beliefs from the moment we are born to the moment we die. Our family environment contributes to
our interest in politics in the future, our education teaches us the fundamentals of American
government and politics, and lastly the media continuously shapes our view of the government. All
three of these agents, are crucial in allowing us to understand ourselves and our beliefs today. Many
intellects will argue that family is one of the most important agents in regards to political socialization
(cite). This comes as no surprise, as children we are incapable of making rational decisions for
ourselves. Thus, our parents and family members are tasked with making the best possible choices for
us instead. In fact, as children we want to please our parents so we are receptive to their views, this
includes political beliefs. (Stockwell, Chapter 6: Public Opinion, Political Socialization, and the
Media.) Furthermore, our family can also have an effect on how we view politics in our future.

The Migration Of South Australia And The Pacific Islands
Around 50,000 years ago, a limited group of humans migrated through to northern Australia and the
Pacific Islands by means of primitive boat. Scholars believe that it is highly likely theses trips were
planned, due to the fact that enough women and men to furnish a new population had traveled
collectively (Kamrani, Kambiz). Seeing as how the Pacific was the first ocean to be explored in this
time marks the ocean crossing coming out of Eurasia to Australia and the Pacific Islands one of
humanity s earliest great achievements. Although as to where the migrants began their journey before
the travel to the islands is arguable at best, there exist numerous migration routes stemming from
Africa to Southeast Asia and onward. Still, it became a tremendous accomplishment for
mankind, though the justifying means as to how, why and when the journey was made are still a
debated topic among scholars. The migration of early humans to Australia and New Guinea from
Southeast Asia is known as the Southern wave. The actual timing of it is hard to ascertain as it appears
after the end of the last Ice Age (12,000 years ago), the glaciers that melted had drowned large
stretches of coastline covering any possible evidence for newage scientists and making it certain that
the humans had to endure a fifty mile voyage at sea to reach land in Australia. Using sea crafts strong

Gods And Mortals In Homer s The Odyssey
What is the real difference between gods and mortals? The roles and relationships between mortals
and immortals is a constant variable in Greek mythology and in Homer s epic poem The Odyssey. In
The Odyssey gods and mortals have complex and mostly one sided relationships, for example, Athena
is a kind of mother figure and protector of Odysseus, but abandons him for almost 10 years. Through
out The Odyssey the gods frequently enact their extreme punishment and reward system. Odysseus is

in strength in terms of economic, political and educational strength. We do not have any Congressmen

Causes Of Gangs
When the word gangs comes to mind, one can immediately picture a big, tall male figure often
covered with tattoos, piercings, and maybe even a bald headed guy. One might think that gangs only
occur in areas like Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and areas illustrated in movies. Gangs are also becoming
more glorified in the media. For example, while listening to a rap song on the radio, some sort of gang
reference will come up. Gangs can often target the young and the vulnerable due to many reasons,
such as peer pressure and fear. Also, they may target someone who is in need and vulnerable for
falling into gang violence and actions.

Once you re in, there are only two ways to get out: by dying or running (Martinez Pg 33). Therefore,
sometimes young adults or even adults feel pressured to be involved or to continue being involved in
gangs because they have the fear of being murdered. Sometimes the fear of being left out pressures
them into getting involved in gangs, and they end up leading a violent lifestyle. Since gangs are
typically associated with fear, most individuals can fall into this peer pressure to join a gang due to
fear of the consequences which can range from violence, like threats, to even their death.
Another aspect of feeling accepted can come from family related issues. Young people might feel that
they don t receive enough support or attention at home. They may be trying to escape a negative home
life, or may be looking for a father figure. Gangs often make promises to give unconditional support
and to become the family they never had (Why People Join Gangs). In some cases, individuals who
join gangs can be looking for a way out of their home. This can be due to family issues they are
experiencing, or also they may not be receiving attention in their home. Gangs are often seen in areas
where poor living conditions occur and where social economic statuses are present.Children and teens
living in these circumstances can experience lack of attention simply because the family needs to work

popular. These machines could print 1,100 sheets per hour. From the 15th to the 19th century not

books are printed by offset lithography in which an image of the material to be printed is

availability since 2002 . Google, Amazon and Sony have been leaders in working with publishers and
libraries to digitize books. According to estimates from Google there are about 130,000,000 unique

print or no longer commercially available. Google has publicly stated a goal to scan and digitize all of
them within this decade. This ambitious project was introduced by Google in 2004, at the same time
they announced partnerships with several high profile universities and public libraries including
Harvard, University of Michigan, Stanford, Oxford, and The New York Public Library. Worth noting

  • 2. My Internship At The Superdome Over the first month of my new internship, I had the opportunity to work on new projects and experience many new things. For instance, my supervisor gave me the responsibility of inventing a new program for the Superdome. When the idea was presented and approved, I then was in charge of creating the marketing campaign. The new program was to introduce the idea of having a company picnic or company outing at the Superdome to large corporations. They would be able to rent out the entire Dome, 80,000 square feet of field space, as well as a party room and outdoor fields to use for their employees and employees families. My first mission was to create a flyer for which I could advertise the new program and event to the corporations. Draft ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, yesterday was the start of our Summer camps. Children have the option of paying for lunch in the morning, $5 a day, or $20 for the week on Mondays. I was writing the names down, indicating whether they paid for the day or the week. Today, Tuesday, I did the same thing, however, I noticed it was difficult to find the names of the children who paid for the week because it was not alphabetized. I also found it difficult to stay organized with people who were paying for the rest of the week, for just that day, or who were checking in for their stamp. Therefore, when all the commotion cleared from the lobby, I sat down and figured out a new system to implement tomorrow, for a smoother, easier way of lunch check in. I also have noticed that the Superdome can be unorganized in its staffing of coaches. A lot of the coaches are college students and have all different schedules. Therefore, it is difficult to know who is coming in for what event, and it is even more difficult to figure out who is coming in, if they are not already in, when the time comes. My plan is to coordinate a system of staffing to distribute the most effective and organized way of communication and efficiency. This way, all of the employees can know who and when someone is ... • 3. Daodejing Contradictions The Daodejing is a collection of chapters from ancient China. The chapters explain why things happen the way they do. In order to understand everything that exists and the way it exits, the Daoists explain dao which means the way. The way helps people to find their way to excellence during a time of turmoil and strife. Life as it is known is uncertain and unclear. Daodejing uses a non logical approach to explain the uncertainties in life. The authors of this ancient text use contradictions to prove their points because logic cannot always be used as a guide. Contradictions help to find balance and teach people to live in a world without having a full understanding of things. According to chapter 15, it was stated that those who prize way making ... Discuss The Argyle Communication Cycle Theory The Argyle s Communication Cycle Theory: The Argyle s communication cycle theory is process commonly used in the health and social care sector to explain how communication can be effective, this is a theory in which can enable a person to understand what is being said or wrote, and to be able to respond to the conversation appropriately. This theory has six stages and these include; Stage one of the Argyle is when the idea is thought of by the communicator, and include them to adapt their words and expressions to match the audience the conversation is for; e.g. the elderly; we may have to talk louder as some elderly people (Or some young people/adults with hearing problems.)cannot hear the same as when they were younger, children; may need more expressions and fewer words, the body language used should be calm and inviting and voices should be calm and gentle rather than tense, or even a work colleague; will need to have clear communication together in order to be able to do your job effectively and to complete your daily duties within the job. . The sending of the message is known as encoding , at this stage the communicator is planning what needs to be said, this stage is very effective as it can help conversations to be delivered in an effective way, for example; if a doctor needs to tell his patient that they have cancer, he should plan his words or expressions very carefully so not to hurt the patient or make them feel worse than they are. • 5. Method of Doubt Essay Method of Doubt Descartes applied illusion argument, dreaming argument, and evil genius argument that is called method of doubt to achieve his goals: Mind and body are two different substances, the complete separation of the mental world and the physical world. Once, he claims that even awake or asleep, two plus three is always five. Even evil genius fakes us, we probably think two plus three is four but in fact it always exist as five and it is always true. Lets look at this example: If I think that it s sunny outside, I can be wrong about sun but I cannot be wrong about my thinking that it s sunny. So, no matter if I am being deceived or dreaming either way I am thinking, which is certain knowledge. Even though our senses aren t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I don t remember being born but that does not mean that I wasn t thinking at the time. During the night we might be woken up by a loud sound, but after we wake up we might not remember a thing. It still remains that even though we can t remember any thought before we wake, we know that there was because we heard the noise and woke up. We still have experiences while asleep whether they are dreams or experience of hot or cold or a smell or a sound. We know we still experience them because they arouse us to wakefulness and therefore are experience while in deep sleep. Therefore, it is possible that while in deep sleep we might not remember everything we thought but we are still thinking or else we would probably never wake up. Think about how you wake up at any time and it is obvious that some thought is involved. And the wakefulness by loud sound or disturbance is also called reaction but not the interaction of body and mind. Mind is conscious and non spatial and body is spatial but not conscious. While separate, these two substances interact. The mind, which can t be doubt or divided or extended, no shape but it is to think in the pursuit of knowledge and the body, in return, can be doubt, divided, extended, occupied space, is a place containing brain that generates thought. Descartes asserts that the mind and body are separable and infinite by using his method of doubt to show that he could not doubt the existence of his mind. As long as we think, ... • 6. Role Of The Cultural Perspective When Dealing With Conflict For any international organization, understanding cultural differences is very significant in the global context. The article analyzes the role and impact of the cultural perspective when dealing with conflict in the global context. What seems like a perfectly reasonable approach in one culture may seem ridiculous, disrespectful, inefficient, or unfair to managers from other cultures. Japanese and German managers may be uneasy with conflict resolution preferences that differ from their own. (Adams, p.110.) The understanding that organizational and global cultures vary results in the connected research supported in several businesses in diverse fields. This research did not only use the preferences of superiors employed in multicultural environments, when analyzing, but explored the role of each individual s culture in defining a possible resolution. If managers insist on their cultural preferences as the way to resolve disagreements, more disagreements will emerge because of misunderstood processes for resolving disagreements. The results of this study suggest that effective conflict resolution may need to begin with the recognition of different cultural preferences for resolution strategies. Only then can further attempts at resolution proceed effectively. In other words, focus on the where before jumping into the how. (Adams, p.110) Creating a workplace environment that enables employees to flourish includes the recognition that cultural diversity is important. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Why The Slave Is The Fourth Of September By Frederick... On July 5th, 1952, Frederick Douglass addressed the ladies of the Rochester Anti Slavery Sewing society in his famous speech, titled What to the slave is the fourth of July? 1 In this address, Douglass points out the hypocrisies between the principles of the American Constitution and the way in which American society functioned at the time. Prior to this speech, his early experiences, friendships, and observations of different aspects of society pushed him to advocate for the participation of blacks in American democracy and freedom, and later in opposition to the many voices within the abolitionist movement that argued for the opposite. While Douglass saw the blatant contradictions between the words of the Revolution and the way in which marginalized groups were treated by most of the ruling white male population, he was by no means against the principles outlined within the Declaration of Independence or the United States as a nation. Douglass s thought was very much an olive branch between the ruling white class and the enslaved and disenfranchised black population. His self made story, inspiring influences, and determination to promote American freedom amongst the many evil aspects in the country he lived in made him one of the most important intellectual figures in the road to abolishing slavery. Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in Talbot County, Maryland in 1818 to a black slave mother and a white father whom he did not know. From his early days, he was able ... • 10. Book Report On The Boy Scout Troop It was early in the year 2012 when I encountered my first craving for sleep, just before a backpacking excursion. I was one of only two patrol leaders in my Boy Scout Troop, and I wanted to be the best leader. I was hungry for it. My 12 year old brother, Luke, was the other patrol leader and he helped keep a healthy rivalry between our patrols. My patrol s name was the Golden Grizzlies, and Luke s patrol name was the Spartans. Previously, the Golden Grizzlies demolished the Spartans in every challenge that was put in front of us, prior our last camping trip. Luke and I were discussing the upcoming Boy Scout trip to Henry Coe in Stanislaus County during our journey home from a family camping trip. He became exasperated, due to his frustration of losing to the Golden Grizzlies. He ended his next sentence with, You ll see, David. This trip, things will be different. The Spartans will eradicate all of the Golden Grizzlies. As we unpacked, he mumbled about how things were going to change; I started to become concerned and pondered about whether or not my innocent brother would sabotage my patrol. The night before the trip, we slept at the church that we meet at for our meetings. This is where things really started to degrade. It was one o clock in the morning and I was beginning my slumber, when Luke and his friend came into the sanctuary where I was camped out . They were both hysterical and had massive tears in their eyes. I sat up, in a rather startled state, and proceeded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Tragedy And The Modern Man By Arthur Miller Essay In the reading Tragedy and the Modern Man written by author Arthur Miller, it states, I believe that the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings were. Arthur Miller describes what the true meaning of a tragic hero is throughout his reading. This quote that Miller includes shows us that any human being can suffer a tragedy as because we are a human being. To suffer through a tragedy, no matter how big or small, is what makes you truly a hero and successful. No matter what your social class may be, whether you are a common man or a king, when exposed to any circumstances, one can suffer a tragedy. Miller believes that facing a tragedy is pro rather than a con. Although, to suffer through the pain may be difficult for some, the experience and knowledge of how to overcome the situation in the future is more powerful than avoiding the pain. ...the tale always reveals what has been called his tragic flaw, a failing that is not peculiar to grand or elevated characters. Nor is it necessarily a weakness. Miller mentions this in his reading as he explains that to have a flaw is not always something bad, but something good and something you should accept, rather than believing you are someone you truly are not. A great example of this comes from the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. Throughout this novel, the main character, Okonkwo, is known to be the complete opposite of his father just because he was not successful like the rest of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The way the camera cleverly projects the scale of the vegetation and rock compared to the size of the young girls shows the vast size and contrasts of our Australian landscape. The blinding sun against some of the scenes causes the characters dizziness and fatigue, surreally contrasting the rock s beauty and the danger it presents. The composer, Peter Weir also creates a dense, dream like atmosphere throughout the film that forever is on the verge of intoxicating the viewers, as is does the lead characters, in an overpowering sense of longing and repression. After deciding on a topic for the paper, I combed the book for interesting topics that could relate to the prisoner of war ethic. In many ways I started my journey with Chapter 12; making it all the more fitting that I end here as well. Chapter 12 and the section on Prima Facie Duties cover a good range of personal subjects. This chapter espouses the ideal that communication is not confined to national or even international borders. Kales Human Nature, for example, proposes the importance of the human spirit over cultural boundaries. Though it is not easy, we must communicate with others in a way that does not reflect back on our own biases and stereotypes in other forms of intercultural communication. And I am personally fascinated by the concept of moral exclusion. The ability to which we are able to extend rights to other people is reflective of where they lie in our sphere of moral consideration, I believe. One of the eight stages of genocide dehumanization comes to mind. As the book notes, this dehumanization is reflected in communication. Communication, such as propaganda, that lowers the status of others exemplifies this dehumanization. We have a tremendous capacity, to turn people into less than us, and once you do that, you can justify a hell of a lot of awfulness. I was not sure if they were dragged into the show by their own children or that they came to watch the performance willingly. Unfortunately, I was dragged into the theater to watch Aladdin the Musical with my younger siblings during a family outing in Disneyland. I tried my best to spot other adolescents in the theater. However, it felt like I was the only one. Embarrassed, I sat in deeper into my seat, hoping that no adults could find and criticize me. Aladdin the Musical uses the same plot from the movie, Aladdin as a foundation for their own plot. The plot is about how a thief was destined to be the prince of Agrabah with the help of a powerful genie and how an evil vizier named Jafar desired to take over the kingdom of Agrabah by abusing the genie s powers. Thomas Jefferson Social Contract Theory Morgan Hobbs Mr. Anderson Government 21 November 2016 Social Contract Theory In terms of the American political system, the most significant of the theories of the origin of the state is that of the Social Contract . Philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes, James Harrington, and John Locke in england and Jean Jacques Rousseau in France developed this theory in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Hobbes wrote that in earliest history humans lived in unbridled freedom, in a state of nature, in which no government existed and no person was subject to any superior power (Magruder s American Government). That which people could take byforce belonged to them. However, all people were similarly free in thes state of nature. No authority existed to protect one person from the aggressive actions of another. Thus, individuals were only safe as their own physical strength and intelligence could make them. Human beings overcame their unpleasant condition, says the social contract theory, by agreeing with one another to create a state. St. Thomas was born in Aquino, Italy in 1225. He studied in the Paris, France and Cologne, Germany. His teacher was Albert the Great. Aquinas was later ordained a Dominican Priest. He went on to publish his masterpiece, The Summa Theologica, used human reasoning to harmonize the truths of the Bible with Greek Philosophy. MPLS encapsulated PDUs move through a WAN via Label Switched Paths (LSPs), which are similar to Frame Relay s virtual circuits. PDUs with closely related paths are grouped into Forwarding Equivalence classes (FECs). FECs are not synonymous with LSPs, as multiple FECs often traverse the same LSP. Regular interior routing protocols are present on the WAN, but only to spread topology data so that LSPs can be created. They are not involved in individual forwarding decisions. Traffic engineering extensions can even be added to create backup LSPs and provide QoS. MPLS has many advantages over competitive services. It was originally developed as a faster technique for moving data between LANs. Since only a single router has to fully inspect incoming traffic, and all others are merely reacting to the conclusions of this original inspection, speed is improved from the paradigm. However many advancements in hardware have somewhat closed the gap on this difference. Nonetheless, MPLS remains a fair choice for those who wish to optimize the speed of their network, and it has many things to offer beyond that original intent. The Multiprotocol part of it s name is important in explaining many of these perks. What is meant by multiprotocol is that it s compatible with any network layer protocol. • 29. Love Is Characterized By Oedipus The King And Diotima s... In Symposium by Plato, a group of men gather around to seek one s full understanding of the underestimated reasons of Love. Despite having different occupations, they all seem to agree on their views of love except for Socrates. Socrates communicates that Love is a god, and then decides to add that he came to his conclusion with the help of a woman named Diotima. Although their views of love are similar, they are also different and can be seen through another philosopher s stories; Antigone and Oedipus. Socrates definition of love is characterized by Oedipus the King and Diotima s definition of love is characterized by Antigone. Socrates understanding of love is that love is a desire to be conscious of what you need for something you do not have and for what you have because once you have it you will not feel the need to want it anymore; love is also a display of what you already have and are afraid to lose forever. Diotima s understanding of Love is that Love is not a god, love is a demi god. Because, he is a demi god, he is in between wisdom and ignorance. For example, on page/s () of Sophocles book Symposium: Socrates understanding of love can be seen in Oedipus the King through Oedipus wife and mother Jocasta. She desires to not have shame upon her throne. Once she has it, she then realizes that she does not want it anymore and decides to take her own life. Jocasta had realized that Oedipus was her son, she acted as if it did not matter because no one knew. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Controversy Of Evaluating Letter Grades There has been a lot of debate about the way schools should be evaluating their students. Some say that letter grades measure different levels of performance in school subjects and that letter grades also motivate most students to do well. Others argue that the letter grade system is affecting the students learning progress and their engagement; therefore, affecting those students in a negative way. There are more appropriate ways to evaluate young students than to grade them. Trials have been done in many schools throughout Canada where students are being assessed through summaries. These summaries vary from letter grades since they provide information on the specific areas of struggle the student may be facing and the opportunity for discussion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Students today spend the majority of their weekdays at schools which can result in stress due to many factors. It is important for students to learn to cope with pressure because it is an important skill for overall health. Grades can cause stress and anxiety in many ways. For example, a student that is receiving bad grades can have stress because they feel pressured by the teachers or parents to get better grades, and the student may feel that their peers are judging them because of their grades. On the other hand, a student who is receiving good grades may feel stress due to the pressure of maintaining their grades for the sake of their peer s judgement and parent s expectations. Sources of stress in schools include: Teacher Interactions, Academic Stress, Peer Interactions, and Academic Self Concept (Helms and Gable 6). The manifestation of stress results in emotional, behavioral, or psychological distress (Helms and Gable 6). Grades are a factor in all of the sources mentioned, the student may feel the teacher disapproves of them, their peers don t respect them, and their self esteem will be impacted because of poor grades. This can result in behaviour and emotional issues which further the student s insecurities and can cause psychological problems in the long term. Letter or percentage grades say nothing about these issues, it is very difficult to spot stress in children and the resulting behaviour due to stress can be misinterpreted if the parents and teachers are not made aware. Summary assessments can help detect stress in students, where the student can explain how they are feeling and the teachers and parents can detect high levels of stress. Test anxiety is another manifestation of stress in students today; unfortunately, many schools and teachers face a huge responsibility in which the students must perform well in order for teachers to keep their jobs and for schools to ... • 31. The Factors Of Political Socialization Cheryl Lee Robin Datta November 13, 2015 Exam #2 Similar to many of the things we are introduced to growing up as humans, our political knowledge is one of the things that does not derive from one specific source. Our thoughts on politics is constantly evolving and maturing as we encounter different agents throughout our lives. These agents of political socialization include our family, our education, the media, and many more. They shape our values and beliefs from the moment we are born to the moment we die. Our family environment contributes to our interest in politics in the future, our education teaches us the fundamentals of American government and politics, and lastly the media continuously shapes our view of the government. All three of these agents, are crucial in allowing us to understand ourselves and our beliefs today. Many intellects will argue that family is one of the most important agents in regards to political socialization (cite). This comes as no surprise, as children we are incapable of making rational decisions for ourselves. Thus, our parents and family members are tasked with making the best possible choices for us instead. In fact, as children we want to please our parents so we are receptive to their views, this includes political beliefs. (Stockwell, Chapter 6: Public Opinion, Political Socialization, and the Media.) Furthermore, our family can also have an effect on how we view politics in our future. Studies show Children whose parents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Migration Of South Australia And The Pacific Islands Around 50,000 years ago, a limited group of humans migrated through to northern Australia and the Pacific Islands by means of primitive boat. Scholars believe that it is highly likely theses trips were planned, due to the fact that enough women and men to furnish a new population had traveled collectively (Kamrani, Kambiz). Seeing as how the Pacific was the first ocean to be explored in this time marks the ocean crossing coming out of Eurasia to Australia and the Pacific Islands one of humanity s earliest great achievements. Although as to where the migrants began their journey before the travel to the islands is arguable at best, there exist numerous migration routes stemming from Africa to Southeast Asia and onward. Still, it became a tremendous accomplishment for mankind, though the justifying means as to how, why and when the journey was made are still a debated topic among scholars. The migration of early humans to Australia and New Guinea from Southeast Asia is known as the Southern wave. The actual timing of it is hard to ascertain as it appears after the end of the last Ice Age (12,000 years ago), the glaciers that melted had drowned large stretches of coastline covering any possible evidence for newage scientists and making it certain that the humans had to endure a fifty mile voyage at sea to reach land in Australia. Using sea crafts strong enough and advanced far beyond the technology norm at the time, in order to survive such a journey, settlements of these early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, we cannot judge the future of Islam by looking at the number of Muslims praying on earth or attending the conventions and bazaars of ISNA. There have to be deeper indicators of our strength (Athar, 2008). As stated by Dr. Athar, the future of Islam cannot solely depend on the spiritual actions of the community. The quality of the Muslim people will determine the future of the religion. Muslims need to practice peace, justice and equality that made the religion so appealing in the past. For example, while listening to a rap song on the radio, some sort of gang reference will come up. Gangs can often target the young and the vulnerable due to many reasons, such as peer pressure and fear. Therefore, sometimes young adults or even adults feel pressured to be involved or to continue being involved in gangs because they have the fear of being murdered. Sometimes the fear of being left out pressures them into getting involved in gangs, and they end up leading a violent lifestyle. Since gangs are typically associated with fear, most individuals can fall into this peer pressure to join a gang due to fear of the consequences which can range from violence, like threats, to even their death. Another aspect of feeling accepted can come from family related issues. Young people might feel that they don t receive enough support or attention at home. They may be trying to escape a negative home life, or may be looking for a father figure. Gangs often make promises to give unconditional support and to become the family they never had (Why People Join Gangs). In some cases, individuals who join gangs can be looking for a way out of their home. This can be due to family issues they are experiencing, or also they may not be receiving attention in their home.
