The Visionary Skills By Richard Branson
Richard Branson has proved his monumental visionary skills by persistently projecting his fantasies
for the organisation and collaborating the resources to move in the direction of fulfilment of those
fantasies. He inspires his workers to bring in new ideas and to think of their own thoughts and
arrangements. This is exhibited by his routine practice of listening, reading and reacting to the
suggestions and messages of his employees. Branson has been depicted as a personality who enjoys
the difficulties, risks and challenges in business and the one who derives satisfaction to attain the
apparently inaccessible targets. It is a part of who he is and he shows it through his leadership style. 2.
Team Builder: There is no existence of leadership without its followers and valuing them is the first
step toward their development as well as in cultivating effective transformational leadership. The
successful implementation of unity among team members has made Branson more successful than
ever. He has traveled extra miles and flown to greater heights just to grasp the recipe of fun working
environment for his employees. He believes to have a family like bond within members who cherish
being part of it and strive to create and enhance that unity. He wants to have a team people who work
for him, for virgin, and own it they should not have the concept of just working for the paycheck. As a
team leader, one has to create a balanced and friendly working environment by minimizing the

You want to start out the New Year heading in the right direction, which means you re looking for
ways to lead, motivate, and boost revenue and profit. Well, here are ten highly effective tips that focus
on motivating your team.
10 Key Ways To Motivate Your Team
1. Ask Key Questions. Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phrases like, You ve brought up an interesting point; let me think about it and I ll get back to you , or I
hadn t looked at it that way before. How would we implement your idea? are very effective, especially
if you make it a point to get back to your team. Don t just offer lip service. Give weight to each valid
idea.
4. Lead By Following. Yes, you read right. Following. Read, absorb, discover, explore what other
great leaders have done and learn from them. BE the leader through credible track making. Yes, it s
good to break new ground, and entrepreneurs thirst for that opportunity, but recognize that great
people have risen to the top for a reason. Learn from them and lead with confidence.
5. Integrity Is Key. Don t hold back the truth. Treat your team like the adults they are and build
confidence and trust by sharing the ups and downs. It s always a good idea to share positive growth
and to bring challenges to the forefront. Steps, then, can be taken to work through the challenges.
6. Revisit Your Vision And Mission. IF you ve lost sight of either or both of these, I guarantee your
team has lost sight of them as well. A great leader helps his or her team focus on the goal. And
carrying out that vision is what your mission is all about. Make sure your team understands what the
vision and mission are, and clarify each step that leads to those goals. Create a plan walking through
each step, including tracking who s

The Event Of A Science Teacher
It was during the World Championships Games which was held in Tokyo, Japan in 1991. The 100m
mens finals was about to take place. There certainly was a cheerful festive atmosphere that late
evening in Tokyo. The sun was just about to set.
A few thousand miles away, life however was moving a little bit slower. It was early evening local
time in Malaysia and schools in the afternoon session were going on as usual. Where I come from,
schools are held in two sessions morning and afternoon sessions. At that time I was teaching in the
afternoon. It was hot on that particular day. As a science teacher, I was in the laboratory with about 40
pupils all boys of the age 14. There was no experiment carried out on that day, just some group
discussions and written exercises to be completed by the boys. As I walked around the lab, checking
on the students answers and explaining the topic I was teaching to the different groups, one of the
boys suddenly raised his hand and asked if the class could be allowed to watch the 100m men s World
Championship Finals. Everyone started pleading with me, some even begging me. Even the slower
boys convinced me that they had finished their chores, albeit a little bit rushed. I looked at all the
eager, expectant faces, didnt have the heart to disappoint them. It was indeed, a hot, lazy afternoon,
and the students, I felt, were not particularly over excited at the prospect of more scholarly discussions
and exercises. I finally conceded to their

George Herbert Mead And Symbolic Interactionism
George Herbert Mead, an early social constructionist, formed symbolic interactionism. Mead believed
that our thoughts, self concept, and the wider community we live in are created through
communication. Symbolic interactionism is what separates humans from the rest of the other animals.
Mead was a philosophy professor at the University of Chicago, Mead thought the true test of any
theory is whether it is useful in solving complex social problems. If it doesn t work in practice, forget
it. Mead taught philosophy but was well known by sociologists as the professor who trained a
generation of the best minds in their field. Mead never put his ideas in a book before he died so his
students pulled together class notes and conversations and published ... Show more content on

Blumers third premise is that these meanings are handled in, and modified through, an interpretative
process used by the person in dealing with the things encounters. Integrationist s describe thinking as
an inner conversation. Mead called this inner dialogue minding. Minding is the two second delay
while we mentally rehearse our next move, anticipate others reactions. We naturally talk to ourselves
in order to sort out the meaning of a difficult situation. Mead believed that animals act instinctively
and without deliberation. Integrationist s believe that humans require social stimulation and exposure
to abstract symbol systems to embark upon conceptual thought processes that characterize our species.
Without the symbolic interaction that learning a language requires, we wouldn t be able to think
though our responses, we d only react. Symbolic interaction, whether verbal or nonverbal, activates
our cognitive ability for inner dialogue that, once switched on, won t shut down.( Em Griffin/Andrew
Ledbetter/Glenn Sparks pg.57) For example as kids we play roles, whether it s like our parents or
someone imaginary. As an adult we still put ourselves in the place of others and act as they would act.
Mead was convinced that thinking is the mental conversation we hold with others, always with an eye
toward how they might see us and react to what we might do.
The symbolic interactionism approach is interpretive; the linguistic work of assigning meaning or
value to communicative texts, believes that multiple truths are possible. ( Em Griffin/Andrew
Ledbetter/Glenn Sparks pg.15) The tradition is socio cultural tradition, it s based on the premise that
as people talk, they produce and reproduce culture. ( Em Griffin/Andrew Ledbetter/Glenn Sparks

Submarines During World War 1
The common modern view on the U boat is that they were some sort of epically triumphant
mechanical monstrosity. Many people admire the size and advanced technology aboard the U boats
and ignore the fact that they ultimately never achieved their goal of gaining naval control in Europe
and the Atlantic. U boats, short for unterseeboot which translates to undersea boats, were weaponized
submarines used primarily during the World Wars. After the moderate successes of U boats during
World War 1, the Treaty of Versailles did not allow Germany to build naval weaponry. Despite this,
they continued to develop their navy over the next few decades. The Germans prepares a new fleet of
1145 U boats that they hoped would eventually achieve control of the ... Show more content on

Attacking and bombing U boats off the coasts of Germany through the air allowed the Allies to scare
off other potential U boats in fear of them being bombed as well: The escort carriers proved to be a
potent weapon against the U boats because of their ability to put aircraft in the sky over waters distant
from land bases (The Sinking of the Laconia and the U boat War). This description highlights the
effectiveness of aircrafts as a defense mechanism against the submarines. They were very mobile and
thus could be deployed from far away to attack distant places and enemies. Additionally, it was a
method of destroying a U boat that did not take many men or resources. With sonar and radar that
could identify the location of the boats, the aircrafts were able to be flied over and bomb the ships and
water around them. Because of the size of the U boats, they could be easily seen from miles above and
were a sitting duck due to their lack of speed. After many attacks on the U boats, the German navy
was apprehensive about sending many more U boats into the ocean, fearing that they would be
bombed by the airplanes, and this demonstrates the huge effect that airplanes had on the effectiveness

Analysis Of Getting A Drink
Getting a drink
1) Ms. Patterson lets Dari use the water fountain because of her special medical needs, knowing that
Dari will not abuse the privilege. Dari feels uncomfortable about the situation because, as she is well
aware, her classmates resent her preferential treatment. If she had a choice, Dari wouldn t use the
water fountain at all. The privilege of using the water fountain during class is, for Dari, most
consistent with which one of the following behaviorist concepts?
The answer is B: punishment, Because in the book in chapter 9 it mentions that their effects on

that in this case she does not allow them to get drinks on their own and does not show them how to
properly act when it comes to drinking, but instead just bans anyone from drinking water during class

4) Is Ms. Patterson s decision not to allow students to get a drink during class a reasonable one? Why
or why not?
Ms. Patterson s decision not to allow students to get a drink or have water bottles in class is not a
reasonable. Like was said before, water is a basic need that humans need and also is the way that
students can be more awaken. In the book on chapter 11 we can see that classroom climate is the
general psychological environment that permeates classroom interactions. Ultimately we want a
classroom in which students feel safe and secure,

Recycling Dog Parks
Dog parks can be of great benefit, both to the cities they reside within, and to the dog owners
themselves. However, they are not without cost; They can be costly to install and become an issue to
the nearby residential areas. As such, the decision to install a dog park is not a light one to be made.
Dog parks can improve a canine s health greatly by providing a proper space for one to play and
socialize with other dogs. To this extent, it allows a dog to properly exercise, improving it s mood and
reducing the occurence of what has been deemed as bad behavior. This, in turn, results in drastically
fewer incidents of citizens being bitten by a dog; For example, according to A Dog Park Benefits All ,
when New York City instituted leash free dog parks, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, there is the concern of noise that should be considered. The average decible range of a
canine is between 75 and 100 decibles, factoring in larger canines. This can be disruptive to
neighbooring residential areas, and create a displeasing atmosphere, as has been reported previously in
several areas.
These issues must be taken into consideration. However, they must be taken into consideration
factoring in the positives as well. Will the costs previously incurred by dog bites, the incident reports,
and any issues resulting there of, offset the average cost to taxpayers for instituting a dog park? Can
the dog park take sound into consideration during construction in order to reduce the amount of noise
that can be heard from nearby areas?
Permitting all factors are accounted for, and the ratio of dog owners to non owning citizens is enough
of a considerable amount, the installation of a dog park can be beneficial to any city. One should not
let the cost scare them, for they can be quite the cost saving

Dr. Phil Analysis
Each and every day, people state their opinions whether they are working, attending school, or
collaborating at home. Many individuals ask for advice from others to help them make difficult
decisions that they could not make on their own. People listen and ask to others for their opinions in
order to help themselves grow as a person whether it is about a life situation, politics, or a struggle in
their life. Most opinions are worthwhile, but could be different depending on the situation. In today s

Most citizens have democratic values even if they do not realize it. As Americans, citizens have
freedom of speech, once an individual turns eighteen he has the right to vote and every citizen has
access to be informed about current events occurring in America. It is every citizen s duty to be a
responsible adult and take part in their country s democratic system. The democratic value freedom of
speech is valued by every American because the opinions of others are worthwhile because they serve
as a learning basis for everyone to learn something new. Of course, there are situations that are private
to an individual or his family that the public s opinion is not worthwhile. For instance, if a family was
deciding on whether or not to get an abortion, the public does not need to have a say in a personal
situation like that. Then there are other instances where an individual does not believe that other s
opinions are worthwhile. A person that does not believe other s opinions are worthwhile will not grow

Analysis Of Donovan Campbell s A New York Times...
Donovan Campbell, a New York Times Bestselling author as well as a former Captain of the United
States Marine Corps offers unique insight on what it means and what it takes to become a remain a
strong leader; in fact, he offers 8 chapters of insight, each one representing a different key concept on
leadership. Each concept is different, however each one builds onto one another as the book
progresses. While reading this book, I took careful notes on each concept as well as how I could
incorporate each one into my own life. The first concept is mission. Campbell opens this chapter by
telling a story about his time in the Marine Corps. The point of his anecdote was that understanding
his own mortality is what helped him strive to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humility is not denying that we are good at or have done a good job on things. Campbell says that if
we do that then we lose a realistic view of ourselves, which is what humility really is. When trying to
think about how this could apply to my current life, the best example I thought of what working on
group projects in school. When I thought about Campbell s words and then applied them to that
situation, I felt I understood what he was saying. When working in a group, everyone has their
strengths and weaknesses. If I know that I could use one of my strengths to help the project, then
denying that I could do a good job will only hurt the team in the end. Instead, by utilizing that skill
properly, the team will benefit. and having a realistic view of the teams strengths, then we could all
use them to help the project. After reading Campbell s chapter on humility, I understood that everyone
acknowledging their own strengths and weaknesses is much better than everyone putting themselves
down to try to appear humble. The term excellence is daunting. If you asked me, before I read this
book, how I could achieve excellence daily, I would have told you simply: I can t. Before reading the
chapter about the third pillar of leadership, I thought that excellence was something reserved only for
great presidents, and people in the military

Antonio Vivaldi s The Four Seasons
Antonio Vivaldi was a composer in the baroque period of music.
He was born March 4, 1678 in Venice Italy, and died on July 28, 1741. He lived most of his life in
Italy where his dad taught him how to play the violin. At often times he and his father played together.
Vivaldi was at one time a priest but his bad asthma held him back. He was often called the red priest
because of his beautiful red hair. His father Giovanni Vivaldi was also a professional violinist, while
also being his music teacher. He left to study for the priesthood when he was around 14 or 15, and was
ordained in 1703. When Vivaldi was 25 he was given the name master or violin at the Devout Hospital
of Mercy. Antonio was also incharge of a girls orphanage. His two most renowned operatic works
were Furnace, and La costanza trionfante. They were revived multiple times during his life. Added on
to Vivaldi s regular employment, he also accepted many short term positions funded by Rome, and
Mantua. While in Mantua he wrote one of his masterpieces, The Four Seasons . He pared the piece

Stereotypes In The Babysitter
For this week s blog I ve decided to discuss the two dichotomizing views of women portrayed in the
first thirty minutes of the horror comedy movie The Babysitter. This horror comedy Netflix original
movie tells the story of Cole, a young teenager who is one of the last of his age to still have a
babysitter. The film presents two schemas of women in American society: the first as the sexy, young,
promiscuous babysitter and the other as the suburban superwoman. The superwoman stereotype is
defined by Harris and Sanborn as the portrayal of women who appear to handle the demands of career,
marriage, and parenting with amazingly little stress and difficulty (Harris Sanborn, 2014, p. 81).
The movie s discussion of the babysitter as being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the effect of the portrayals of women in this film will have different effects depending on the
audience. From the babysitter portrayal girls and young women may learn a particular script about
what a babysitter should be and/or do. Older women, may compare themselves to the script of
attractiveness the babysitter embodies and find themselves lacking.
For the superwoman portrayal, women in similar positions may see how easy the mom in this film
makes fulfilling these obligations look and again may find themselves lacking in comparison. Both
young girls and older women could see this portrayal of the superwoman as the societal average of
what a woman should be able to achieve. This could lead young girls to place an expectation on
themselves in future. Overall, I found little in these two depictions of women to be supportive of a
positive portrayal of women in the

Implementing Technology in the Mathematics Classroom
It has been over a decade now since we ve been hearing from federal agencies, professional
organizations and teaching accreditation agencies about the need to integrate technology into school
curriculum. Culp, Honey and Mandinach (2005) reported despite several educational reports and other
governmental reports of the large investments in instructional technology resources, computers, high
speed internet access and other forms of technology within the country s schools are yet to be

In summarizing these suggestions, most of school computers and even the ones at poor urban districts
normally come with Excel. Furthermore, many of teachers if not all have personal computers at home
which they can use to learn and practice with Excel spreadsheets. Even if teachers don t have
computers at home, they could also take advantage of computer resources at the public library (Zhao
and Frank (2003). Most public libraries are walking distance from general population. These libraries
are often open all week some of them even on Sundays where the use of the Internet or spreadsheets
can be done easily (Zhao Frank, 2003). Implementation Specifics 3 It is argued in order to prepare a
school for technology integration, the school should represent by a special instance of professional
development which has a unique role of curriculum development (Staples, Pugach Himes, 2005). On
the other hand, school officials in conjunction with technology leaders who make the decision
regarding how a school will invest in technology would first need a good understanding on how
technology use to boost learning of the curriculum and technology use for productivity (Staples,
Pugach Himes, 2005, p. 285). Once the understanding is established, the curriculum developer who
anchors technology in the curriculum would need to recognize the need for teachers to have the

Master Visconti s Ntoni By Giovanni Verga
Master Visconti s Ntoni After World War II Italy was in shambles, and the rural nation struggled to
close the developmental gap between itself and other European nations. It was during this time, in
1948, that Luchino Visconti filmed La Terra Trema, or The Earth Trembles, on the island of Sicily. It
was a critically acclaimed adaptation of I Malavoglia, or The House by the Medlar Tree, written by
Giovanni Verga in 1881. Life on the island as depicted by Verga had barely changed in the
approximate 70 years between the two works, and Visconti filmed in a true neorealist style, recruiting
nonprofessional Sicilians to act out their own lives in their own native tongue. While Visconti s
political messages change the meaning of the story, he succeeds in capturing the never ending struggle
of the oppressed working class, and the futility of disjointed revolt. In many respects, Visconti did not
stay true to many aspects of Verga s novel. His film leaves out most of the supporting characters in the
book, depicting the people of Trezza as considerably less sympathetic to the main characters, a stark
contrast to the energetic community painted by Verga. Visconti wanted to portray the Valastros as a
family against the world, betrayed and abandoned as soon as they challenged the social norms.
Visconti also featured Ntoni, as opposed to his grandfather Master Ntoni, as the main protagonist in
the film. Master Ntoni s belief in fate and his strong conviction in the self possession of

Analysis Of Legally Blonde The Musical
Humorous, energetic, enjoyable and all around fun, Legally Blonde: The Musical captured my
attention from the get go. This comical yet heartwarming musical portrays the story of a young
woman following an ex love to Harvard Law School only to realize the potential she possessed within
herself and in the new life she creates for her own. After viewing this hit Broadway production, I am
fascinated with how this theatre play was brought to life on stage with the lighting, sound, spacing and
overall entertainment from the cast to the costumes. Altogether, this play is one of my all time favorite
productions and it is one that keeps my attention from the moment it takes off to the closing of the
curtain at the end.
Legally Blonde: The Musical starts off by capturing the audience s attention and winning their hearts
with the characters and the acting that takes place in this performance. The main character, Elle
Woods, played by Laura Bell Bundy in the Broadway production, soared though this musical with her
singing, dancing and radiating energy. Bundy was a sight to see on the stage as she made every line
believable while achieving at looking like she was having the time of her life throughout the entire
production. The thing that stuck out the most was the amount of emotion that was poured into this
performance from every single character, minor or major, taking part. From scenes such as Elle

The Between Light And Dark Skin Complexion
There has been a hidden conflict of prejudice that occurs within a race that has recently became
common topic of everyday conversation. In 1982, Alice Walker, a well known author gave it a name;
colorism. Walker defined colorism in In search of Our Mother s Gardens as prejudicial or preferential
treatment of same race people based solely on their color . Colorism has been a significant factor in
the creation of self hatred between people of light and dark hue. Within this society, a dominant
ideology has been created which in turn causes the parts of the population with non dominant features
and characteristics to be made to feel inferior. One of the races is the African American race. The color
in between light and dark skin complexion has created a division in the black community in America,
and though blacks have come a long way since slavery, they have yet to come to unification amongst
one another when placed in the situation of skin differentiation.
Colorism in the African American race dates back to the American slavery era. Slavery was practiced
throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries, and the African American slaves
helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. Africans were stripped from their homeland
by countries such as England, Spain and Portugal to work in the New World on plantations. The slaves
were treated like animals being sold and traded among the slave owners. The Virginia General
Assembly declared, in 1705, that

Causes Of Gun Violence Essay
Guns and Violence
In discussions of Violence, one controversial issue has been the use of guns and assault rifles. On the
one hand, the NRA argues that a ban on assault rifles will not reduce gun violence. On the other hand,
Judith Miller contends that the second amendment is great but there should be some kind of ban on
assault rifles. My own view is that as long as guns are available there will be gun violence regardless.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) argues that bans on assault rifles and large ammunition
magazines are misguided and conflict the second amendment. The NRA lists ten reasons of why we
should reject firearms ban on large clips and assault rifles. Some of these reasons include the fact that
all assault rifles are not fully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that more violent crimes are committed with handguns rather than assault rifles is not
stunning at all to me. Handguns are much easier to get a hold of and to sale illegally and assault rifles
are just too big. Also when people think assault rifle they think fully automatic which is not the case
for most assault rifles in the US.
Judith Miller argues that the second amendment gives Americans the right to own guns, but not the
right to own assault rifles. Brings up the Federal Assault Weapons Act of 1994 which banned the
manufacture and sale of semi automatic weapons and magazines. Also the Brady Act which made you
wait five days and you had to have a background check before purchasing a handgun. Although I
agree with Judith Miller to a certain extent, I cannot accept her overall conclusion that assault rifles
should be banned because she gave no kind of statistics about how many deaths or shootings were
done with assault rifles. Only one issue she used was the theater shooting in Colorado. When there are
many other handgun deaths and shooting around the world everyday. Statistically handguns are more
dangerous so why shouldn t they be banned rather than assault

The Characteristics And Stereotypes Of Latinos El Bandido
Reports show that Latinos are the most underrepresented ethnic group in film affected by stereotypical
issues shown via pictures in our heads and through watching. I concur with this information as
stereotype starts from a personal level, which is definite through meditation, this does not include all
the negative traits portrayed by the out group. Although we have some general stereotypical
agreements within in groups that cannot change. This stereotyping is evident in a case where a
foreigner defines Bandido accurately while a (North) American will involve them with laziness, being
dirty and all sorts of negativity on them. These findings make me feel that Latinos and Americans will
always be contrary to their film industry. The stereotype on Latinos el Bandido is based not only on
ethnic but also behavioral, where they are deemed violent and antisocial, different nationality, as in not
belonging to the North America and psychological where they are associated with alcoholic,
prostitution and being unstable. With this stereotype, Hollywood is seen as a perfect example of the
filmmaking and professionalism, in a way this demeans the Latinos effort in the film. Stereotypical
images are in the cinematic register where they are intentionally included to make film sale and also to
be critical in the narration process. Hollywood stereotyping Latino s poet is common in many films
displaying poverty and crime as part of their livelihood. Moreover, they use standard films

the concept of the social contract, in which societal assimilation mandates submission to authoritarian
rule, with a relinquishment of certain rights, in return for protection and aid. Hobbes offered a
foundational premise for benefits that otherwise might be absent, if not for societal constructs. John
Locke, another English philosopher published the Essay Concerning Human Understanding, which
expounded on the work of Hobbes by proposing a more integrated and ordered society. The societal
implications meant a surrender of some individual freedoms in return for a governmental structure

Cesare believed that punishment was an effective deterrent to crime, as the offender is rational and in
control of their actions and behaviors. Cesare expressed that the punishment should fit the crime and
that adjudication and punishment should be both swift and certain . He advocated for due process on
the implication of innocence until proven guilty and condemned torture on the same pretense as
torturous punishment towards self incrimination implies guilt prior to a guilty verdict by a judicial
body. His principles influenced classic criminology in the principles of punishment, due process,
rationality, and human rights. The Bill of Rights in the US constitution has several concepts
influenced, some believe, by his writings. (Cesare Beccaria, 2017)Jeremy Bentham, author of
Introduction to the Principles of Moral and Legislation , built on Cesare statement that punish should
fit the crime , by asserting that the hedonistic nature of man requires that the pain or punishment of

Causes And Consequences Of Sepsis
Sepsis, also referred to as blood poisoning is a potentially life threatening complication that results
from an infection. These infections, typically caused by bacteria cause chemicals to be released in to
the bloodstream in order to fight the infection. As a result, this triggers an inflammatory response
throughout the body, which in turn may cause a cascade of changes, which may damage organ
systems, causing them to fail. The infection present in the blood in this case becomes systemic,
spreading through the body (Abraham, Matthay Dinarello, et al, 2000). Sepsis may start with any
given type of infection from small or minor infections such as a urinary tract infection and abscessed
tooth to more serious ones such as meningitis. Septic shock on the other hand is the most severe form
of sepsis, and has been associated with high mortality rates. Uncontrolled sepsis results in septic
shock, which is largely the result of progressive compromise of various organ systems and the
eventual development of multiple organ failure. When sepsis progresses to septic shock, there is a
drastic drop of blood pressure, which may cause death. With regards to septic shock, the onset of
treatment determines chances of outcome. Whereas early intervention may reduce mortality rates, late
septic shock reduces the chances of survival.
2. Etiology
One of the most common causes of sepsis is bacterial infection. However, it may also arise from other
conditions that may

My Company Essay
What is the name of your company?
The name of my company is Florely. Most people would name their business after their family name,
such as their last name. For an example, Johnson Johnson was named after Robert Wood Johnson I.
Naming your business after your surname could be nice, but it wouldn t be original. It also depends on
the product that the company is trying to sell. Naming the company Florely was all behind my product
or products. If you didn t get it from the name, the company is all about selling flowers. Florely is a
company that has thrived off of selling flowers since the twentieth of May, 2012. All of Florely s
employees are trained to understand the meaning behind each flower that we produce. Majority of

When the plant decides to set seed, our employees have to shear the plants to encourage the plant to
grow. Shearing means cutting the plant back by removing majority of the plant without interfering
with its structure. Pansies love fertilizer but giving them too much will make the plants weak. So, we
only renew their fertilizer once a month. During its growth period there might be weak flowers and we
go through a process of deheading the pansy. Cutting off the dead parts of the plant will increase
bloomage of flower. Pansies grow throughout the wet season because during the fall it rains
constantly. These type of plants love the full sun but partial shade. We couldn t figure out why our
plants weren t growing. So, as a company, Florely decided to hire experts to come and investigate.
This type of cold, wet, and partially dark area bring insects such as gastropods (slugs). Florely as a
whole has done thorough research and came up with a couple of ideas. These ideas consisted of
thinning out the soil or trying out a different brand of fertilizer. We tried both methods for over a
month, but nothing worked and it cost the company a lot of money.
3)What are at least three issues that can solve the company s problem or issue?
As previously stated, Florely s issue is that slugs are causing a decrease in the growth of our famous
pansies for the fall

For this project, I chose to learn more about my place of employment, the City of Lakeland, Florida.
The City of Lakeland, incorporated on January 1, 1885, is a local municipal government agency
whose primary function is to provide services to the citizens within the corporate city limits as well as
water and electric to customers in unincorporated Polk County and the vast number of visitors to the
city. The departments within the City of Lakeland currently provide over 180 services. And, to fulfill
its responsibilities, Lakeland employs 2,172 full time and 552 part time employees. One of the main

Ultrasonography Research Paper
Ultrasonography is an important type of diagnostic testing method that is used all around the world
today in mostly hospitals and gynaecology clinics. The Wikimedia Foundation states, It is used to see
internal body structures such as tendons, muscles, joints, blood vessels, and internal organs ( Medical
par. 1). Therefore, the use of ultrasounds can evaluate these specific parts of the body. X rays can not
evaluate the internal organs of the body. As BBC states, Compared to x ray photographs, ultrasound

Ultrasonography requires the use of some physics. Physics of Ultrasonography connects with how the
functioning of the ultrasound machine works. When performing an ultrasound, low intensity, high
frequency sonic waves are directed into the soft tissues of the body (Blevins et al. 1). Many sonic
waves will directed right into the soft tissue to produce an image on the computer screen. William E.
Blevins says, The sonic waves called echoes, reflecting from tissues are heard by the transducer
(Blevins et al. 1). This means the sounds of the tissue reflects back to the transducer and then back to
the computer for evaluation. Then, After interacting with the soft tissues, a portion of the sound is
reflected back toward the source of the sound (Blevins et al. 1). Basically the ultrasound evaluates the
sound waves coming from inside of the body of the soft tissue. The sound waves travel back to the
computer to produce an image on the screen. Finally, These reflections or echoes are analyzed by a
computer and a black and white image is produced (Blevins et al. 1). When the black and white image
appears back on the screen, the Ultrasound Technician will analyze the image on the computer

Steroids and Sports Essay
Steroids and Sports Steroids, ever since their introduction into the sports world five decades ago, they
have been a controversial issue (WebMD medical news). Anabolic performance dates as far back as
the original Olympic Games. Today walking into any gym you will find some one who is using
steroids or some kind of enhancement supplement. Anabolic steroids are so popular with athletes from
high School level all the way up to the top. For the past fifty years, athletes around the world use
steroids to gain muscle mass, and along with regular work outs try to achieve the results they desire.

The use of steroids by athletes to gain muscle mass is rapid and effective. Each individual user makes
a decision based on the activity they participate. Some athletes desire to jump higher, others to run
faster, or to throw the farthest and hit home runs, yet others desire to bench the highest weight
possible; and football players want to improve on lean body mass and have a comparative edge,
whether in high school, collage, or the pros. Andrew Rensik, of 9BNEWS reports that, national
statistics show that as much as ten percent of high school athletes are involved in steroids

use wasn t worth risking their health, that number dropped to 51 percent in 2002 (www.nsba.org, Ron

in lifetime and annual steroid use in 2004, as well as a decrease in perceived availability of steroid

Views on intellectual property vary from the belief that that intellectual property should be protected,
to the view that ideas should be completely unrestricted and free to use. Thomas Jefferson believed
that ideas had the right to be shared, saying:
If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of exclusive property, it is the action
of the thinking power called an idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps
it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession of everyone, and the
receiver cannot dispossess himself of it. Its peculiar character, too, is that no one possesses the less,
because every other possesses the whole of it. He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction
himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening
me. That ideas should freely spread from one to another over the globe, for the moral and mutual
instruction of man, and improvement of his condition, seems to have been peculiarly and benevolently
designed by nature, when she made them, like fire, expansible over all space, without lessening their
density in any point, and like the air in which we breathe, move, and have our physical being,
incapable of confinement or exclusive appropriation. Inventions then

Natural resources have been an essential part of Canada s growing economy for decades. In Canada,
there are various and reliable sources of energy such as oil, hydroelectricity, natural gas, uranium,
coal, solar, wind, tidal and biomass. Canada is proven to be the fifth largest energy producer in the
world and the second largest in uranium. Canada has over 200 active mines turning out 60 or more
different metals and minerals, which includes having more potash than anyone else in the world. This
country is also in the top five in aluminum, diamond, cobalt and etc. The Canadian government has
capitalized on its natural resources and the wealth they generate and help give Canadians a quality of
life. Natural resources account for nearly up to 20 percent of Canada s gross domestic products and 50
percent of our exports. On top of that, the natural resource sector creates about 10 percent of all jobs in
Canada. All this energy consumption helps sustain our economy growth and our standards of living.

the RIM 116 Rolling Airframe Missiles, designed to destroy anti ship cruise missiles and other various
air or surface threats. These missiles are lightweight and have a quick reaction, all the while traveling
at supersonic speed. Finally, CVNs carry the Phalanx CIWS. This, too, is radar guided, fast paced, and

Traumatic Brain Injury Can Ruin Your Entire Life
Traumatic Brain Injury Can Ruin Your Entire Life
Head (Brain) injury is known as a major public health problem that is a frequent cause of death and
disability in young people, Among the many challenges that survivors of traumatic brain injury must
face, behavior problems rank among the most difficult. Traumatic brain injury, or TBI, is a type of
brain injury that occurs when trauma causes damage to the brain. It can cause when a person s head
suddenly or violently hits an object, or an object hits the person, and damages the brain tissue. A
person with a TBI may remain conscious or he/she might be unconscious for a few minutes. Some
symptoms of TBI include headache, confusion, lightheadedness, dizziness, blurred vision or tired
eyes, ringing in the ears, bad taste in the mouth, fatigue or lethargy, a change in sleep patterns,
behavioral or mood changes, and trouble with memory, concentration, attention, or thinking. These
symptoms might be experienced by any person with mild, moderate to severe TBI (Real Warriors).
According to me, any type of TBI can become a big problem in the future, then it doesn t matter if it s
mild or a severe injury. It might also be such a big problem nowadays because of many reasons, one of
which can be cultural beliefs. The amount of people suffering from TBI is increasing dramatically
because of the careless decisions made by the people.
Severity of Traumatic brain injuries can be classified into mild, moderate, and severe categories.

Ethos And Pathos In The Achievement Habit By Bernard Roth
Ethos, Logos, and Pathos If one was told they could fly without wings or on an airplane, would they
believe it? Or if they were promised they could walk on water, would they still try? Probably not,
correct? Knowing a person s creditability is key before you make the decision to put faith in them or
to trust them or not. In the novel The Achievement Habit written by Bernard Roth, while still showing
emotion towards his audience, Roth makes sure to have reliable credentials and logic behind his
reasoning. Roth has a passionate attitude and strong morals about what he preaches in chapter two,

He knows everyone in life struggles. He simply is encouraging the reader to stop finding excuses and
continue improving themselves by stop handing out excuses and reasons. A wise man once wrote You
can t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth.
Evan Esar. Justifications in life simply set one back from becoming great; which is what Roth does a
stellar job explaining it in this chapter. Roth s appeal of pathos initially rubs the reader to be a little
angrier, seeing that he believes that every reason is just an excuse. However, it s the disciplinarian
theory he is using to do two things. One, it wakes up the reader and grabs their attention and two, to
make the reader think and question the excuses or reasons they have been dealing with in their
personal life. Everyone needs a reason to do anything, but there s no logic behind every reason. The
reason behind going to the grocery store, is to buy food so one doesn t starve in the middle of the
week. The reason behind a person going to the hair salon is to feel better about their personal image.
The reason of going to the gas station is to fuel up a car with gasoline. Roth agrees with reasons
controlling everything by saying Our society loves reasons. Perhaps the illusions that there is a single
known reason for each thing we do is comforting. (Roth 41.)

King Lear Feminist Analysis
When interpreted from a feministic perspective, it is apparent that the story of King Lear and The
Winter s Tale contains misogynistic implications. While the three sisters in King Lear were fallen
victims to the misogynistic societal needs, Hermoine in The Winter s Tale also suffered from
temptress accusations. The ingratitude that the women endured from male authorities who viewed
women stereotypically, claims how both plays challenged gender roles and suggested that women
were wicked, sexually deviant, and the cause of all issues. Moreover, women who lived during the
Shakespearean period like the female protagonist in these plays, lived in misogynistic society s due to
the lack of equality that was implemented during this time period. In the Shakespearean play, King
Lear, the feministic attributes were tested when Lear asked his three daughters, which of you shall we

women s emotions to boost a man s ego. If Lear had three sons rather than three daughters, receiving
affection to get the largest bounty (1.1.50) would not have occurred but because women were
portrayed as emotional, Lear quantifying the love that each daughter had for him was appropriate.
This demonstrates the first misogynistic approach towards women in King Lear. When each daughter
displayed their affection towards their father, Lear s most faithful daughter, Cordelia elaborated that

Proof And The Burden Of Proof
The general definition of burden of proof is a duty imposed upon a civil or criminal defendant to
prove or disprove a disputed fact. There is more than one type of burden known to the law, a burden of
proof and the burden of adducing evidence. The burden of proof is also known as or referred to the
legal burden. Different terminology is sometimes used that emphasizes different characteristics of the
burden; the most common alternatives are the persuasive burden , the probative burden , the risk of
non persuasion and the fixed burden of proof . Legal burdens are allocated by rules of law and are
fixed at the beginning of the case. They do not shift during the course of a trial. The burden of
adducing evidence is also known as evidential burden. This refers to the obligation to adduce
sufficient evidence to raise an issue for the court to consider. Unlike a legal burden, an evidential

Professor Ian Dennis quoted Roberts and Zuckerman s description of the presumption being a
standard, which helps to avoid wrongful convictions. It can also be said, presumption of innocence
serves as a protective tool against the risk of miscarriages of justice. This is because the main rationale
behind the presumption of innocence dictates, the outcome of wrongful conviction is regarded as a
significantly worse harm than wrongful acquittal . This is apparent, especially in cases that have a
broad offence that would be almost impossible for the accused to disprove. This can be seen in the
case of AG s Reference (No.4 of 2002) . Lord Bingham warned of the risk and the effect of unfair
conviction and stressed that it might be too impossible for the accused to prove that he had not taken

Descartes Mind Over Matter
1018
Professor Crowell
Phil 21
22 April 2016
Mind over Matter
In his meditations Descartes supposed there was two fundamentally different sorts of substances in the
universe, physical stuff, which bodies and chairs etc. are made up of; which is extended in space,
hence he called it res extensa, but there s also mind stuff which isn t in space at all thinking stuff or,
res cogitans. Bodies are made of res extensa and minds are made of res cogitans and the two are
separate. To understand why he thought this we must go back to his mission statement, which was to
doubt everything he could in order to find something indubitable which he thought would be certain
knowledge. Descartes found that he could doubt everything except that he was thinking since doubt
was a kind of thinking, and since thinking requires a thinker he knew that he must exist hence the
famous I think therefore I am syllogism known as the cogito. Descartes goes on to say that he can
doubt the existence of his body and all other physical things but he cannot doubt his mind exists
because of the cogito.
Descartes flaw is his liberal use of Leibniz s law, the identity of indiscernibles. The ontological
principle states that there cannot be separate objects or entities that have all of their properties in
common. That is to say, if you have two things and they have all the same properties, including their
position in space, you don t really have two things because they are identical; by the same token if two

What Is The Intimate Act Of Choreography
The theme of The Intimate Act of Choreography by Lynne Anne Blom and L. Tarin Chaplin is to
inform the audience on what choreography is and how to go about the creative process of dance. This
book s purpose is to be a guide into choreographic process. The choreographic process, which is a
series of steps that create dance and classify dance as a whole, helps the authors break down the major
ideas to form smaller concepts which are used to initialize a dance. The work provides an analytical
view on dance as an artform but also in making the process to simple to understand and how to use.
They do this using three steps to simplify the choreographic process divide, expand, and use. These
three steps are relatively simple but allow for the audience to understand the purpose of the book and
transfer their newfound knowledge into the world. The Intimate Act of Choreography acts as lecture,
setting up the structural bones for those interested in choreography. This is informative and
opinionated but nonetheless a guide into the domain of dance. ... Show more content on

Gender Differences In The Wonder Woman, Like Superman
Throughout my research paper I am going to compare and contrast the differences between how
everyday people look at a female superhero, like Wonder Woman, and male superhero, like Superman.
In the paper, I would like to look at the differences in the amount of clothing Wonder Woman has on
and the amount of clothes a male superhero normally has on. I would also like to look at the physical
differences the two genders have when it comes to muscle physique. Another interesting topic to look
at is how we look at a female character and a male character, as in who the intended audience is. I
would like to look at superhero action figures, and show how the boy toy section differs from the girl
section when it comes to superheroes. Even though Wonder Woman is just as powerful and important
as other male superheros she is often easily centered out from other superheroes because of her
physique, lack of clothes, sex appeal and her gender.
One could use this source in order to compare and contrast the differences between the boy toy
sections and the girl toy sections in stores. In the article, Paige Averett explains how her and her friend
went to the store to look for a Wonder Woman toy, but failed to find a single Wonder Woman action

The Nature And Development Of False Memories
False memories attracted significant attention of psychologists during many decades. People usually
rely on the memories despite the fact that previous researches showed people could be unpredictably
inaccurate in the recollection of detailed facts (Wilson Ross, 2003).The subject of the false memories
and the aspects that lead to development of the false memory phenomena is very imperative topic to
study since almost every aspect of cognition such as problem solving, attention or perception relies on
memory to some extent. The quality of memory is also vital for some practical reasons, because many
important events influenced by reports from human witnesses. For instance, the procedure with
eyewitness testimonies in courts is still taking place although scientists have proven the power of
suggestive language can lead into memorising something that did not happen in reality (Loftus, 1975).
This point to the following question: Can we trust our memory? In order to response to this question,
this paper will evaluate the nature and development of false memories, its connection to the basic
memory processes, as well as practical impact of false memories. A collective review on all above
aspects will provide a comprehensive explanation of the question that this paper poses.
What is a false memory?
The phrase false memory could refer to an extensive range of small memory inaccuracies from
misremembered word lists to quite significant errors like incorrect details of dramatic life

  • 2. The Visionary Skills By Richard Branson Richard Branson has proved his monumental visionary skills by persistently projecting his fantasies for the organisation and collaborating the resources to move in the direction of fulfilment of those fantasies. He inspires his workers to bring in new ideas and to think of their own thoughts and arrangements. This is exhibited by his routine practice of listening, reading and reacting to the suggestions and messages of his employees. Branson has been depicted as a personality who enjoys the difficulties, risks and challenges in business and the one who derives satisfaction to attain the apparently inaccessible targets. It is a part of who he is and he shows it through his leadership style. 2. Team Builder: There is no existence of leadership without its followers and valuing them is the first step toward their development as well as in cultivating effective transformational leadership. The successful implementation of unity among team members has made Branson more successful than ever. • 4. The Event Of A Science Teacher It was during the World Championships Games which was held in Tokyo, Japan in 1991. The 100m mens finals was about to take place. There certainly was a cheerful festive atmosphere that late evening in Tokyo. The sun was just about to set. A few thousand miles away, life however was moving a little bit slower. It was early evening local time in Malaysia and schools in the afternoon session were going on as usual. Where I come from, schools are held in two sessions morning and afternoon sessions. At that time I was teaching in the afternoon. It was hot on that particular day. As a science teacher, I was in the laboratory with about 40 pupils all boys of the age 14. There was no experiment carried out on that day, just some group discussions and written exercises to be completed by the boys. As I walked around the lab, checking on the students answers and explaining the topic I was teaching to the different groups, one of the boys suddenly raised his hand and asked if the class could be allowed to watch the 100m men s World Championship Finals. Everyone started pleading with me, some even begging me. Even the slower boys convinced me that they had finished their chores, albeit a little bit rushed. I looked at all the eager, expectant faces, didnt have the heart to disappoint them. It was indeed, a hot, lazy afternoon, and the students, I felt, were not particularly over excited at the prospect of more scholarly discussions and exercises. I finally conceded to their ... • 5. George Herbert Mead And Symbolic Interactionism George Herbert Mead, an early social constructionist, formed symbolic interactionism. Mead believed that our thoughts, self concept, and the wider community we live in are created through communication. Symbolic interactionism is what separates humans from the rest of the other animals. Mead was a philosophy professor at the University of Chicago, Mead thought the true test of any theory is whether it is useful in solving complex social problems. If it doesn t work in practice, forget it. Mead taught philosophy but was well known by sociologists as the professor who trained a generation of the best minds in their field. Mead never put his ideas in a book before he died so his students pulled together class notes and conversations and published ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blumers third premise is that these meanings are handled in, and modified through, an interpretative process used by the person in dealing with the things encounters. Integrationist s describe thinking as an inner conversation. Mead called this inner dialogue minding. Minding is the two second delay while we mentally rehearse our next move, anticipate others reactions. We naturally talk to ourselves in order to sort out the meaning of a difficult situation. Mead believed that animals act instinctively and without deliberation. Integrationist s believe that humans require social stimulation and exposure to abstract symbol systems to embark upon conceptual thought processes that characterize our species. Without the symbolic interaction that learning a language requires, we wouldn t be able to think though our responses, we d only react. Symbolic interaction, whether verbal or nonverbal, activates our cognitive ability for inner dialogue that, once switched on, won t shut down.( Em Griffin/Andrew Ledbetter/Glenn Sparks pg.57) For example as kids we play roles, whether it s like our parents or someone imaginary. As an adult we still put ourselves in the place of others and act as they would act. Mead was convinced that thinking is the mental conversation we hold with others, always with an eye toward how they might see us and react to what we might do. The symbolic interactionism approach is interpretive; the linguistic work of assigning meaning or value to communicative texts, believes that multiple truths are possible. • 6. Submarines During World War 1 The common modern view on the U boat is that they were some sort of epically triumphant mechanical monstrosity. Many people admire the size and advanced technology aboard the U boats and ignore the fact that they ultimately never achieved their goal of gaining naval control in Europe and the Atlantic. U boats, short for unterseeboot which translates to undersea boats, were weaponized submarines used primarily during the World Wars. After the moderate successes of U boats during World War 1, the Treaty of Versailles did not allow Germany to build naval weaponry. Despite this, they continued to develop their navy over the next few decades. The Germans prepares a new fleet of 1145 U boats that they hoped would eventually achieve control of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Attacking and bombing U boats off the coasts of Germany through the air allowed the Allies to scare off other potential U boats in fear of them being bombed as well: The escort carriers proved to be a potent weapon against the U boats because of their ability to put aircraft in the sky over waters distant from land bases (The Sinking of the Laconia and the U boat War). This description highlights the effectiveness of aircrafts as a defense mechanism against the submarines. They were very mobile and thus could be deployed from far away to attack distant places and enemies. Additionally, it was a method of destroying a U boat that did not take many men or resources. With sonar and radar that could identify the location of the boats, the aircrafts were able to be flied over and bomb the ships and water around them. Because of the size of the U boats, they could be easily seen from miles above and were a sitting duck due to their lack of speed. After many attacks on the U boats, the German navy was apprehensive about sending many more U boats into the ocean, fearing that they would be bombed by the airplanes, and this demonstrates the huge effect that airplanes had on the effectiveness of ... In this situation the teacher is not giving them motivation to learn how to ask or participate because Ms.Peterson is showing the students that she has preference for certain students like Dari situation. 4) Is Ms. Patterson s decision not to allow students to get a drink during class a reasonable one? Why or why not? Ms. Patterson s decision not to allow students to get a drink or have water bottles in class is not a reasonable. However, they are not without cost; They can be costly to install and become an issue to the nearby residential areas. As such, the decision to install a dog park is not a light one to be made. Dog parks can improve a canine s health greatly by providing a proper space for one to play and socialize with other dogs. To this extent, it allows a dog to properly exercise, improving it s mood and reducing the occurence of what has been deemed as bad behavior. Can the dog park take sound into consideration during construction in order to reduce the amount of noise that can be heard from nearby areas? Instead, by utilizing that skill properly, the team will benefit. and having a realistic view of the teams strengths, then we could all use them to help the project. He lived most of his life in Italy where his dad taught him how to play the violin. At often times he and his father played together. Stereotypes In The Babysitter For this week s blog I ve decided to discuss the two dichotomizing views of women portrayed in the first thirty minutes of the horror comedy movie The Babysitter. This horror comedy Netflix original movie tells the story of Cole, a young teenager who is one of the last of his age to still have a babysitter. The film presents two schemas of women in American society: the first as the sexy, young, promiscuous babysitter and the other as the suburban superwoman. The superwoman stereotype is defined by Harris and Sanborn as the portrayal of women who appear to handle the demands of career, marriage, and parenting with amazingly little stress and difficulty (Harris Sanborn, 2014, p. 81). For the superwoman portrayal, women in similar positions may see how easy the mom in this film makes fulfilling these obligations look and again may find themselves lacking in comparison. Both young girls and older women could see this portrayal of the superwoman as the societal average of what a woman should be able to achieve. This could lead young girls to place an expectation on themselves in future. Overall, I found little in these two depictions of women to be supportive of a positive portrayal of women in the ... Master Visconti s Ntoni By Giovanni Verga Master Visconti s Ntoni After World War II Italy was in shambles, and the rural nation struggled to close the developmental gap between itself and other European nations. It was during this time, in 1948, that Luchino Visconti filmed La Terra Trema, or The Earth Trembles, on the island of Sicily. It was a critically acclaimed adaptation of I Malavoglia, or The House by the Medlar Tree, written by Giovanni Verga in 1881. Life on the island as depicted by Verga had barely changed in the approximate 70 years between the two works, and Visconti filmed in a true neorealist style, recruiting nonprofessional Sicilians to act out their own lives in their own native tongue. While Visconti s political messages change the meaning of the story, he succeeds in capturing the never ending struggle of the oppressed working class, and the futility of disjointed revolt. In many respects, Visconti did not stay true to many aspects of Verga s novel. His film leaves out most of the supporting characters in the book, depicting the people of Trezza as considerably less sympathetic to the main characters, a stark contrast to the energetic community painted by Verga. Visconti wanted to portray the Valastros as a family against the world, betrayed and abandoned as soon as they challenged the social norms. Visconti also featured Ntoni, as opposed to his grandfather Master Ntoni, as the main protagonist in the film. Master Ntoni s belief in fate and his strong conviction in the self possession of ... In 1982, Alice Walker, a well known author gave it a name; colorism. Walker defined colorism in In search of Our Mother s Gardens as prejudicial or preferential treatment of same race people based solely on their color . Colorism has been a significant factor in the creation of self hatred between people of light and dark hue. Within this society, a dominant ideology has been created which in turn causes the parts of the population with non dominant features and characteristics to be made to feel inferior. One of the races is the African American race. The color in between light and dark skin complexion has created a division in the black community in America, and though blacks have come a long way since slavery, they have yet to come to unification amongst one another when placed in the situation of skin differentiation. Colorism in the African American race dates back to the American slavery era. Slavery was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries, and the African American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. Africans were stripped from their homeland by countries such as England, Spain and Portugal to work in the New World on plantations. • 21. Causes And Consequences Of Sepsis Sepsis, also referred to as blood poisoning is a potentially life threatening complication that results from an infection. These infections, typically caused by bacteria cause chemicals to be released in to the bloodstream in order to fight the infection. As a result, this triggers an inflammatory response throughout the body, which in turn may cause a cascade of changes, which may damage organ systems, causing them to fail. The infection present in the blood in this case becomes systemic, spreading through the body (Abraham, Matthay Dinarello, et al, 2000). Sepsis may start with any given type of infection from small or minor infections such as a urinary tract infection and abscessed tooth to more serious ones such as meningitis. Septic shock on the other hand is the most severe form of sepsis, and has been associated with high mortality rates. Uncontrolled sepsis results in septic shock, which is largely the result of progressive compromise of various organ systems and the eventual development of multiple organ failure. When sepsis progresses to septic shock, there is a drastic drop of blood pressure, which may cause death. With regards to septic shock, the onset of treatment determines chances of outcome. Whereas early intervention may reduce mortality rates, late septic shock reduces the chances of survival. 2. Etiology One of the most common causes of sepsis is bacterial infection. Bush, these supercarriers are considered to be the most powerful warships in the world. Throughout this essay, the platform s history, current roles, and future, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start off, there are three main weapons systems aboard the Nimitz carriers. Most important are the NATO Sea Sparrows, a surface to air missile system. This radar guided weapon is short range and uses a homing system to readjust its path mid flight. Although the range and speed are classified, it is known that the missile is 12 feet long and has a cylindrical body with four mid body wings and tail fins. This system is mainly used for self defense against a variety of surface and air threats. Next, are the RIM 116 Rolling Airframe Missiles, designed to destroy anti ship cruise missiles and other various air or surface threats. These missiles are lightweight and have a quick reaction, all the while traveling at supersonic speed. Finally, CVNs carry the Phalanx CIWS. This, too, is radar guided, fast paced, and protects against anti ship missiles. It can fire 3000 4500 rounds per minute and can fire at small or close targets due to its Electro Optic sensor ( Fact File ). Continuing on with the assets of the ship, it is essential to cover the sensors, or electronics, of the carriers. There are four main components of the platforms electronics. First are the various underwater torpedo systems including SLQ 25A, SLR 24, and LEAD, and more. These systems perform activities ranging from Acoustic Decoy to alerting and diverting. Next is the air search technology, combining ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Traumatic Brain Injury Can Ruin Your Entire Life Traumatic Brain Injury Can Ruin Your Entire Life Head (Brain) injury is known as a major public health problem that is a frequent cause of death and disability in young people, Among the many challenges that survivors of traumatic brain injury must face, behavior problems rank among the most difficult. Traumatic brain injury, or TBI, is a type of brain injury that occurs when trauma causes damage to the brain. It can cause when a person s head suddenly or violently hits an object, or an object hits the person, and damages the brain tissue. A person with a TBI may remain conscious or he/she might be unconscious for a few minutes. Some symptoms of TBI include headache, confusion, lightheadedness, dizziness, blurred vision or tired eyes, ringing in the ears, bad taste in the mouth, fatigue or lethargy, a change in sleep patterns, behavioral or mood changes, and trouble with memory, concentration, attention, or thinking. These symptoms might be experienced by any person with mild, moderate to severe TBI (Real Warriors). According to me, any type of TBI can become a big problem in the future, then it doesn t matter if it s mild or a severe injury. It might also be such a big problem nowadays because of many reasons, one of which can be cultural beliefs. The amount of people suffering from TBI is increasing dramatically because of the careless decisions made by the people. • 31. Ethos And Pathos In The Achievement Habit By Bernard Roth Ethos, Logos, and Pathos If one was told they could fly without wings or on an airplane, would they believe it? Or if they were promised they could walk on water, would they still try? Probably not, correct? Knowing a person s creditability is key before you make the decision to put faith in them or to trust them or not. In the novel The Achievement Habit written by Bernard Roth, while still showing emotion towards his audience, Roth makes sure to have reliable credentials and logic behind his reasoning. Roth has a passionate attitude and strong morals about what he preaches in chapter two, Reasons are Bullshit that is reassuring and fitting to the reader. His communication is established through personal relations and stories, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He knows everyone in life struggles. He simply is encouraging the reader to stop finding excuses and continue improving themselves by stop handing out excuses and reasons. A wise man once wrote You can t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth. Evan Esar. Justifications in life simply set one back from becoming great; which is what Roth does a stellar job explaining it in this chapter. Roth s appeal of pathos initially rubs the reader to be a little angrier, seeing that he believes that every reason is just an excuse. However, it s the disciplinarian theory he is using to do two things. One, it wakes up the reader and grabs their attention and two, to make the reader think and question the excuses or reasons they have been dealing with in their personal life. Everyone needs a reason to do anything, but there s no logic behind every reason. The reason behind going to the grocery store, is to buy food so one doesn t starve in the middle of the week. The reason behind a person going to the hair salon is to feel better about their personal image. The reason of going to the gas station is to fuel up a car with gasoline. Roth agrees with reasons controlling everything by saying Our society loves reasons. Perhaps the illusions that there is a single known reason for each thing we do is comforting. (Roth 41.) ... • 32. King Lear Feminist Analysis When interpreted from a feministic perspective, it is apparent that the story of King Lear and The Winter s Tale contains misogynistic implications. While the three sisters in King Lear were fallen victims to the misogynistic societal needs, Hermoine in The Winter s Tale also suffered from temptress accusations. The ingratitude that the women endured from male authorities who viewed women stereotypically, claims how both plays challenged gender roles and suggested that women were wicked, sexually deviant, and the cause of all issues. Moreover, women who lived during the Shakespearean period like the female protagonist in these plays, lived in misogynistic society s due to the lack of equality that was implemented during this time period. In the Shakespearean play, King Lear, the feministic attributes were tested when Lear asked his three daughters, which of you shall we say doth with merit challenge (1.1.49 51) which legitimized a man s authority over women by using a women s emotions to boost a man s ego. If Lear had three sons rather than three daughters, receiving affection to get the largest bounty (1.1.50) would not have occurred but because women were portrayed as emotional, Lear quantifying the love that each daughter had for him was appropriate. This demonstrates the first misogynistic approach towards women in King Lear. When each daughter displayed their affection towards their father, Lear s most faithful daughter, Cordelia elaborated that there was no way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Proof And The Burden Of Proof The general definition of burden of proof is a duty imposed upon a civil or criminal defendant to prove or disprove a disputed fact. There is more than one type of burden known to the law, a burden of proof and the burden of adducing evidence. The burden of proof is also known as or referred to the legal burden. Different terminology is sometimes used that emphasizes different characteristics of the burden; the most common alternatives are the persuasive burden , the probative burden , the risk of non persuasion and the fixed burden of proof . Legal burdens are allocated by rules of law and are fixed at the beginning of the case. They do not shift during the course of a trial. The burden of adducing evidence is also known as evidential burden. This refers to the obligation to adduce sufficient evidence to raise an issue for the court to consider. Professor Ian Dennis quoted Roberts and Zuckerman s description of the presumption being a standard, which helps to avoid wrongful convictions. It can also be said, presumption of innocence serves as a protective tool against the risk of miscarriages of justice. This is because the main rationale behind the presumption of innocence dictates, the outcome of wrongful conviction is regarded as a significantly worse harm than wrongful acquittal . This is apparent, especially in cases that have a broad offence that would be almost impossible for the accused to disprove. This can be seen in the case of AG s Reference (No.4 of 2002) . Lord Bingham warned of the risk and the effect of unfair conviction and stressed that it might be too impossible for the accused to prove that he had not taken part in the illegal activities as required in S.11 (2) of the Terrorism Act 2000 ... • 34. Descartes Mind Over Matter 1018 Professor Crowell Phil 21 22 April 2016 Mind over Matter In his meditations Descartes supposed there was two fundamentally different sorts of substances in the universe, physical stuff, which bodies and chairs etc. are made up of; which is extended in space, hence he called it res extensa, but there s also mind stuff which isn t in space at all thinking stuff or, res cogitans. Bodies are made of res extensa and minds are made of res cogitans and the two are separate. To understand why he thought this we must go back to his mission statement, which was to doubt everything he could in order to find something indubitable which he thought would be certain knowledge. Descartes found that he could doubt everything except that he was thinking since doubt was a kind of thinking, and since thinking requires a thinker he knew that he must exist hence the famous I think therefore I am syllogism known as the cogito. Descartes goes on to say that he can doubt the existence of his body and all other physical things but he cannot doubt his mind exists because of the cogito. Descartes flaw is his liberal use of Leibniz s law, the identity of indiscernibles. The ontological principle states that there cannot be separate objects or entities that have all of their properties in common. That is to say, if you have two things and they have all the same properties, including their position in space, you don t really have two things because they are identical; by the same token if two ... The text states that California s San Andreas Fault runs diagonally from southeast to northwest for nearly 800 miles. In the lecture notes, it shows a diagram of the earthquakes that have occurred since 1977 along the Pacific coast, and the area is riddled with earthquakes. The likelihood of a massive scale earthquake occurring in the Pacific Northwest has been predicted; however, our lecture states that we are unable to predict an earthquake and are only able to gauge the probability of one occurring. • 36. What Is The Intimate Act Of Choreography The theme of The Intimate Act of Choreography by Lynne Anne Blom and L. Tarin Chaplin is to inform the audience on what choreography is and how to go about the creative process of dance. This book s purpose is to be a guide into choreographic process. The choreographic process, which is a series of steps that create dance and classify dance as a whole, helps the authors break down the major ideas to form smaller concepts which are used to initialize a dance. The work provides an analytical view on dance as an artform but also in making the process to simple to understand and how to use. They do this using three steps to simplify the choreographic process divide, expand, and use. These three steps are relatively simple but allow for the audience to understand the purpose of the book and transfer their newfound knowledge into the world. • 37. Gender Differences In The Wonder Woman, Like Superman Throughout my research paper I am going to compare and contrast the differences between how everyday people look at a female superhero, like Wonder Woman, and male superhero, like Superman. In the paper, I would like to look at the differences in the amount of clothing Wonder Woman has on and the amount of clothes a male superhero normally has on. I would also like to look at the physical differences the two genders have when it comes to muscle physique. Another interesting topic to look at is how we look at a female character and a male character, as in who the intended audience is. I would like to look at superhero action figures, and show how the boy toy section differs from the girl section when it comes to superheroes. Even though Wonder Woman is just as powerful and important as other male superheros she is often easily centered out from other superheroes because of her physique, lack of clothes, sex appeal and her gender. One could use this source in order to compare and contrast the differences between the boy toy sections and the girl toy sections in stores. In the article, Paige Averett explains how her and her friend went to the store to look for a Wonder Woman toy, but failed to find a single Wonder Woman action figure. Averett explains, No Wonder Woman. But even more fascinating was that she was on a group of packages but not actually made into a figurine. • 38. The Nature And Development Of False Memories False memories attracted significant attention of psychologists during many decades. People usually rely on the memories despite the fact that previous researches showed people could be unpredictably inaccurate in the recollection of detailed facts (Wilson Ross, 2003).The subject of the false memories and the aspects that lead to development of the false memory phenomena is very imperative topic to study since almost every aspect of cognition such as problem solving, attention or perception relies on memory to some extent. The quality of memory is also vital for some practical reasons, because many important events influenced by reports from human witnesses. For instance, the procedure with eyewitness testimonies in courts is still taking place although scientists have proven the power of suggestive language can lead into memorising something that did not happen in reality (Loftus, 1975). This point to the following question: Can we trust our memory? In order to response to this question, this paper will evaluate the nature and development of false memories, its connection to the basic memory processes, as well as practical impact of false memories. A collective review on all above aspects will provide a comprehensive explanation of the question that this paper poses. What is a false memory? The phrase false memory could refer to an extensive range of small memory inaccuracies from misremembered word lists to quite significant errors like incorrect details of dramatic life ...
