Ice Hockey History
Hockey is a sport that s been around for almost 200 years now, it s a competitive sport that s
played all across our world, and it has plenty of history behind it. Anyways, if you ask anyone in
Canada about it, they would most likely be able to tell you a few things about it. When people
think of Canada, Hockey can often come to mind. The sport developed and grew in Canada,
created by students (soldiers) of King College School, to a small village in Nova Scotia, named
Windsor. The game used to be a field game, called Hurley, and soon enough they decided to take
it to the ice, where it earned the name Ice Hurley . Over time, the game finally earned a new
name, as we know it as of today, Ice Hockey. At this time, it was really beginning to... Show more

For example, Hockey also helped cement Canada, and plenty more of countries status as a
nation with its own identity , which is completely true. Canada and the rest of North America is
well known for hockey, also it being the home of the NHL, it wouldn t be the same place without
it at all. As many people know, it s a very difficult sport to play, and if you play it consider it a
talent, even a gift, its known as one of the hardest games to play in the world. The sport can also
help with many traits, such as reflexes, stamina, hand eye coordination and more. Otherwise,
many people across the world have tons of passion for the sport, lots of citizens all across the
world put their life into it, it s their JOB, and it s well worth it, because the people who do that
make millions a year, which is crazy... especially just for playing a game, but in front of 20,000
paying fans of course. Some parts of our world revolve around the game, without it, there would
be an enormous missing piece. So that can explain how it has affected our world, also because it s
been around for about 200 years now, it really has a huge history behind it, which has affected us a

Canada s Operation Overlord
The Canadian Military was not solely responsible for ending World War II, but their actions on
D Day, Tuesday, June 6, 1944, in Normandy, showed courage and skill in combat, proved they
were passionate and courageous, and important role models. Canada s participation in code
name Operation Overlord proved that the Canadian Military was a force to be reckoned with,
helped end World War II and helped Canada gain independence. Firstly, D Day was a battle
fought at Juno Beach and proved that the Canadian Military was a force to be reckoned with.
They fought by air, sea and land as equals to the British and American armies. 450 paratroopers,
10,000 sailors and 14,000 land soldiers demonstrated their skill in combat, proved they were

In the Mississauga City Hall from November 5th to 11th, will be shown an exhibition Canadian
Aviators Help Warsaw During the Uprising. The exhibition was opened by the Consul General
of the Republic of Poland in Toronto Grzegorz Morawski, and Mayor of Mississauga Bonnie
Crombie, and a special letter was sent to all participants by the President of Poland Andrzej
Duda. This is yet another edition of the exhibition prepared by the Warsaw Rising Museum and
the Embassy of Canada in Warsaw, presented this time by the Consulate General in collaboration
with Heritage Mississauga. The exhibition presents the history of the last flight of Halifax JP 276
A, shot down by the Germans during the flight with supplies for the fighting capital, and as well
the painstaking work of experts from the Warsaw Rising Museum to identify the remains of the
plane and its crew a few decades later. Opening the event, the Consul Grzegorz Morawski stressed

Orthopedic Physical Assessment and Physical Therapy Essay
In physical therapy, patients come to the clinic with a long list of symptoms and a specific
mechanism of injury. It is the physical therapists job to take this information and form hypotheses
of what pathology may be affecting the patient. With the patient that has been presented in this case,
a full history shows a very good description of symptoms and what the patient remembers happening
when the injury occurred. With this history, an examination plan can be created in order to make
this examination process thorough, but efficient.
A hypothesis that can be made from the patient s report is that she is suffering from cervical
radiculopathy, or a nerve root lesion. Symptoms that describe cervical radiculopathy include: arm

375). That is why it is still important to perform red flag testing to keep the patient as safe as
possible. Red flag tests indicate if something potentially dangerous or life threatening is going on
with the patient. This will cause a physical therapy examination to stop and that patient may be
referred to their primary care physician for further care before physical therapy can proceed. These
tests include vertebral artery testing and cervical instability testing (Dutton, 2012). The vertebral
artery test rules out any blood supply being cut off to the brain (Magee, 2008, p. 150). In terms
of cervical instability testing, the transverse ligament and alar ligament tests should be done to
avoid any bones in the cervical spine moving out of place to damage the spinal cord (Magee,
2008, p. 180). When these two red flags are tested and found to be negative, the rest of the exam
can start. If they turn out to be positive, a referral back to the patient s primary care physician
should be made before any excursion of the cervical spine occurs. Active range of motion testing
with passive end feel testing should be done next. This will allow the physical therapist to observe
and feel the range of motion the patient is able to do. Also, the therapist will be able to note
motions that elicit pain and if radiating pain occurs. Next, muscle length testing will detect any
shortening due to the

Algonquin Natives In Black Robe
The film Black Robe is set in New France, later known as Quebec in 1634. A young Jesuit priest
and his companion are sent through the wilderness to find the Huron Mission. They are escorted by
the Algonquin Natives. This 1500 mile journey begins in late fall and continues through the harsh
winter, leaving survival seemingly slim to impossible.
Different PerspectivesThe perspectives of both the Jesuit priest and the Algonquin Natives are both
shown. This film portrays both the Native and White men as human beings, instead of saints or
villains all have their own personal and cultural flaws, but yet they all act morally correct according
to each set of culture beliefs. The Jesuit priest (Father Laforgue) attempts to bring Catholic faith ...

It shows us a time when Christians were convinced of their rightness. I think it also gives us a
deeper understanding as to what the Natives lives were like, the hardships they went through. I
also believe the scenery, the buildings and housing, and the items the Europeans used to trade
with the Natives was shown quite accurately. As to my personal reaction to the film at first I was
on the side of Jesuit priest, cheering him on his mission, sympathizing with him in his lack of
understanding the environment and the Algonquians their language, rituals and beliefs. As the
movie progressed my opinion changed and I found the priest rather unforgiving towards Daniels
attraction and relationship to Annuka, he seem lacking in compassion when trying to get his
Christian message across and is pretty adamant and pushy trying to get Chomina to accept Christ
when he was dying, when all Chomina wanted to do was die and peace and be with his people.
As a Christian myself, I actually became rather upset and enraged with how the Europeans went in
with the idea that they were right and the Algonquians were wrong. I don t think anyone belief
system or anyone culture is more correct than another and that it was pretty arrogant and conceited
of the Europeans to believe this was the case. The Natives had a strong belief system in the earth,
wind and spirits, I don t believe they needed or wanted

Hipaa Compliance And Technology Use Essay
HIPAA compliance and technology use: In 1996 when Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted HIPAA compliance and the use of technology was not
given that much importance as it is today. Only small percentage of people owned mobile phones
twenty years ago which didn t have a lot of capabilities of communicating except the basic text
messaging. Twenty years later the mobile device technology is much advanced and has much more
capabilities and much faster than imagined. Advanced capabilities include messaging, internet
access, e mails and ability to take pictures and be able to send using the mobile device.
The problems with medical organizations staying HIPAA compliant with modern technology: The
faster and more functional mobile devices with Multi capabilities raised concerns regarding the use
of the technology and HIPAA compliance. Concerns relating to patients privacy and
ePHI(electronically protected health information) security. Due to these concerns regulations within
HIPAA were enacted in 2013 to address these concerns.
Legislation related to use of technology to comply with HIPAA requires insurance companies,
health care providers, employers insurance, to implement administrative, physical and technical
safeguards for protecting the confidentiality of patients information which prevents a breach of
ePHI. If a breach of ePHI occurs, Healthcare providers, employers, third party service providers and
insurance companies are liable for

that the cousins and other kins that may not be related from the immediate family, are also

Essay Immigration and Language in Call it Sleep
Immigration and Language in Call it sleep Immigrant Allegory: Language and the Symbolism of
Being Lost The symbolism of being lost is a universal immigrant theme that occurs throughout
many immigrant literatures, particularly in Henry Roth s Call it Sleep. Language, or lack of
understanding it, has a profound contribution to the process of being lost. This contribution is
shown earlier in the book, in a passage where David is lost trying to find his way home (Passage
1) and is mirrored later on in the book, when David and Aunt Bertha are lost in a museum (Passage
2). The restriction of the usage of language in both passages portrays to us the inevitable and
ubiquitous immigrant dilemma: I talk, eat, and live like this new country... Show more content on

David panics in this scene as well as the scene in Passage 2. If we reread Passage 2 carefully, we
see that it is really David that is mainly concerned with being lost again, not Aunt Bertha. Aunt
Bertha appears to us to have diverged her attention from the couple to the exhibits at the
museum, whereas David s attention is always on the two people that he is following, not once at
the exhibits in the museum. It is David that tugs on Aunt Bertha s dress to warn her that their
subjects might be walking too fast for them to follow anymore. Perhaps this panic is due to
David s effort to get directions to his destination. In Passage 1, David asks the gentleman for
directions to Bodder Street. In Passage 2, David asks the man in front of the museum whether
or not this is actually the museum. David is never seen in these two passages as a bold, spirited
leader; he is always seen as a follower. This has significant implications; David can never lead in
this country, he can only follow. He does not posses the free spirited, Columbus conquering
mentality. David is very passive and out of place in both of these passages. He follows people s
advice in Passage 1 and in Passage 2, never his own intuition. David represents the immigrant who
will forever be lost in his new country. What is ironic is that David s inquiries about getting the
right directions fails in both cases because of his inability to manipulate language in such a way

defined as a determination of how well the instrument reflects the concept being examined, and
reliability is demonstrated when consistent results are produced using the same instruments (Grove

Rhode Island Narrative
Cross Point, Rhode Island. A small port town hidden within the quiet safety of a dense forest; a

Where you control your own destiny. At least, that s what Evelyn Price and her friends had been
told since the day they were born. If you were to ask them, they d tell you what a dull place their
home was, a place where nothing ever happened. It was September, the start of her senior year.
Evelyn woke up at the crack of dawn as her routine dictated, completely rested and ready for her

Firstly, the Blue Jays are one of the best baseball teams in the MLB. They are especially known

The Soviet nationalities policy, implemented in the initial stage of the Bolshevik government, was
national in form and socialist in content. The Soviets ultimate goal was the fashioning of their
citizens holding allegiance to the Soviet Union, while also maintaining a secondary identity as a
member of a constituent nationality. The nationality policy drove to the core of the entire Soviet
enterprise, as it played a central role in the lives of everyday Soviet people, serving different
functions in each decade from the policy of korenizatsia and granting certain privileges to
nationalities deemed backwards , to ethnic deportations of nationalities that were deemed as a threat

There were efforts to benefit the Jewish community through the nationality policy in the initial
years of the Soviet Union. The emancipation of Jews in 1917 criminalized anti semitism, offered
equal education opportunity to the Jewish population which they were deprived of previously, and
granted them geographic mobility outside of the pale settlement. This brought about an
unprecedented flurry of Jewish political, literary, and social activity as they began to settle in the
centers of Russia. Meanwhile, Soviet authorities attempted to define the course of development
for the Jews of the Soviet state. The Jewish population was to be recognized in a similar fashion
as other minority population, as they were granted a region, a territory with boundaries, where
the Jewish nation could feel attached to a homeland. According to Robert Weinberg, the creation
of Birobidzhan was part of the Communist Party s effort to set up a territorial enclave where a
secular Jewish culture rooted in Yiddish and socialist principles could serve as an alternative to
Palestine and resolve a variety of perceived problems besetting Soviet Jewry. The Soviet officials
believed that reducing the number of Jews involved in commerce would, and instead pushing
them to pursue agricultural work in Birobidzhan would decrease anti Semitism and integrate the
Jewish population into the society as productive Soviet citizens who will accelerate the state s
position in the Marxist timeline. However, the Birobidzhan project failed, because of the failure to
equip the new settlers with adequate living sources, and most of the Soviet Jews did not want to
settle in Birobidzhan primarily due to the geographical and climatic conditions of the region, lack
of Jewish national sense in the region, and due to their preference of settling Russia s capitals where

The Tragedy Of The Greek Tragedy
Great Tragedy Results in Deeper thinking Throughout the history of ancient literature, tragedy was
one of the most famous and significant literary forms. Especially, Greek tragedy literature was a
popular and influential form of drama performed in theatres across ancient Greece from the late 6th
century BCE, and formed the foundation upon which all modern theatre is based (Cartwright). I
will look for not only the reasons why Greek writers composed such tragedy, but also focus on what
made the audience enjoy the tragedy. Because, essentially the readers and the audience were the
people make literatures famous and the way how audience interpreted them is also important.
Indeed, tragedy not only influenced the ancient audience, but also have a great effect upon many
current readers.
Before we begin discuss about the ancient tragedy, let me first illustrate the meaning of tragedy.
Tragedy is a form of drama based on human suffering that invokes an accompanying catharsis or
pleasure in audiences (Banham). Moreover, some scholars suggest tragedy is the mirror image
or negative of comedy. For instead of depicting the rise in circumstances of a dejected or outcast
underdog, tragedy shows us the downfall of a once prominent and powerful hero. Like comedy,
tragedy also supposedly originated as part of a religious ritual (Simpson). And in ancient Greek,
both comedy and tragedy were performed widely in the theatre. Essentially, both comedy and
tragedy were created and performed

The Dispossessed John Analysis
In the novels The Dispossessed by Ursula LeGuin and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the two
protagonists, Shevek and John, share keen interests in exploring foreign worlds. However, their
dissatisfaction with the social and economic conditions of their foreign communities compels them
to rebel against local authority, as they strive to reveal the dystopian qualities of their societies to
their citizens. While both protagonists grow up in isolation, Shevek emerges successful in his cause
due to his serenity, wisdom, and intelligence, whereas John, as a result of his naivety, fluctuating
emotions, and immense disgust of the traditions of the World State, emotionally breaks down and is
eventually driven to suicide. Both of these novels contain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In The Dispossessed, Shevek escapes the detection of his Urrasti hosts to make contact with

to live on Annares (292). After a series of violent skirmishes, Shevek retreats to the Terran

interested. As a result, Shevek becomes successful in his mission to open Annares, Urras, and other
planets to a wider universe, while also encouraging governmental reform in Urras and providing
hope for future solidarity between Urras and Annares. However, in Brave New World

The Global Eradication of Polio Essays
The Global Eradication of Polio
The possibility of the eradication of polio worldwide is an imminent and exciting prospect as the
goal year quickly approaches. In 1988, the World Health Assembly, which governs the World Health
Organization, set the goal of eliminating polio from the world by the year 2010. Many
organizations have joined the effort along with the World Health Organization: the Center for
Disease Control and Prevention, UNICEF, Rotary International, Global Health Network, the US
Agency for International Development, National Immunization Day, and the International

The poliovirus enters the body through the mouth, and multiplies in the throat and intestines. It may
remain unmanifested for anywhere from four to thirty five days. Once the virus is in the intestines
it has the potential to spread throughout the body by way of the bloodstream, and infiltrate into the
central nervous system. In the central nervous system, the virus can spread out along the nerve
fibers and begin to destroy the nerve cells, or motor neurons, resulting in limpness in the arms and
legs. This is known as acute flaccid paralysis and this symptom of polio (also a symptom of
several other diseases) is used to uncover new cases which may have been misdiagnosed or not
diagnosed at all (WHO 1999). This is a necessary procedure in that it helps to cover all the bases in
the pursuit of eradicating poliovirus from the earth.
It is important to note that paralysis does not occur in all polio cases. Acute poliomyelitis
manifests itself as a two phased disease in a small proportion of its victims. The first phase is
minor, a non specific febrile illness (Prevots 1999). All patients with polio experience this phase,
and only a small percentage develops the second phase, aseptic meningitis and/or paralytic disease
(Prevots 1999). The aseptic meningitis is inflammation, caused by the virus, of the meninges of the

Issues In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Many times we think what issues in the past have nothing to do with what happens today.
Sometimes problems back then compared to now are over rated but that s not true at all. During the
20th century, people started to view life in a different perspective and were changing their attitudes.
Slowly, people started to change their clothing, hair, music styles and opinions. This was a century
of different opinions and change. Some issues in the pastduring the 20th century still apply to us
today. A issue that came up was the parties. F. Scott Fitzgerald called it a time
when the parties were

Golden Ratios In The Great Pyramids
Introduction:
Background:
The Golden Ratio, also known as phi, is an extraordinary number that is similar to the figure pi as
it s digits are infinite however the digits do not repeat themselves. The Greek philosopher
Pythagoras discovered the Golden Ratio. (1) He discovered it while studying patterns and recurring
numbers. The golden ratio can be applied in many different areas of our world from space to the
shells of snails. It can be found in the architecture of the Greek and Roman structures and
monuments and also in the modern buildings and structures around the world.
Ancient Egyptians and Greeks used the golden ratio for art, architecture and sculptures. The ancient

Legal Age Of Sexual Consent
Legal Age of Sexual Consent
Taylor Obert PSY 200B
March 16, 2017
Introduction Age of sexual consent refers to the age when an individual can consent to sexual
activity. Sexual activities are defined differently by countries, with there even being a difference
between the United States and Canada who share a border. The ages of consent also vary among
countries and also by individual state in the United States. Engaging in sexually activities with
individuals that are not the legal age of consent can result in criminal charges such as statutory rape,
but many places have exceptions. These exceptions include certain gaps in age varying place to

individual/victim is not the legal age of consent and/or the defendant is over the age of 18 than
there may be an age gap provision of the law in the state that makes the offense less of a crime
because of the age gap, but it can still be prosecuted. The states that have the age gap provisions

Following Washington s decision to avoid France s war, Washington found himself in a situation
with the French minister to the United States, Edmond Charles Genet. The new minister arrived in
the United States in April 1793 and at once began to hire recruiting agents and to commission
privateers for war on English shipping. Again, President Washington declared his neutrality, but this
time he clearly said to both England and France that he would not aid either, and he even asserted
America s right to trade freely with both.[4]
Peace and neutrality between the United States and Europecontinued throughout Washington s
presidency and beyond. Washington realized that through his decision it was finalized that
Europeans did not interfere in American affairs and vice versa. The Europeans would no longer be
an immediate threat, but Washington did not overlook them. In his Farewell Address in 1796,
Washington stated:

Feelings of Regret
Feelings of Regret I know what it is like to be in a situation where you don t have a great home
life, but you know there are other solutions to your situation then marriage. I can tell you that
from experience. I turned 18 in May. Three months later I married the man I thought was my true
love and the person I was going to spend my whole life with. One month after our second
wedding anniversary, I separated from him and within six months we were divorced. Before I got
married I believe that this would never happen to me, but it did and I became a teenage marriage
statistic. If I could go back to being eighteen again and walk into the courthouse to get married
without any of our family and friends there, I would not do it!... Show more content on

She persuaded herself that party time was over and that she should start her adult life. Within
three years she was divorced. Children having children is still not an argument for marriage. Ones
mind and spirit can not be commanded to obey to the situation. Forcing oneself into marriage
justified by pregnancy will definitely end unhappily, as the child is still unable to make people live
together if they are lacking love. Finally, the initial affection can easily fade away. At the
beginning of their relations the young people are often said to be unable to live without their
second part. Jake and Glen were married when he was 19 and she was in her 17. They
loved each other and the couple was brilliant. No one could say that in half a year they would be
divorced. Having little life experience they were likely to think this was love at first sight. Being
confident they had found their better half they were married. However, with time the passion
disappeared, the mystery turned into routine, the aspiration to be together was replaced by the
tiredness from cohabitation and the desire to be alone had grown. In such circumstances the
spouses seek for joy and satisfaction away from home and prefer the company of friends to that of
the husband or wife. Teenage marriages are likely to end unhappily because the young people are
in their initial stage of life. They are still not fully developed persons, unwilling to obey

The Migrant Crisis
Since 2011, some 4.1 million refugees have fled from Syria in an attempt to find asylum in
Europe. The NPR article written by Greg Myre, The Migrant Crisis, estimates that the total
amount of Syrians who have been displaced is as high as 7.6 million. This has placed enormous
pressure of European countries to take in refugees, though many of these, especially the Eastern
European bloc countries of Hungary, Croatia, and Serbia, refuse to let the flood of migrants into
their country. This has left millions of refugees stranded without a home, food, shelter, or hope.
As early as September of 2015, refugees have been denied access into Hungary, which could
easily serve as a means of getting into Germany and Austria. To be granted passage into Hungary,
hundreds of people wait outside of a single white trailer with one door, being processed one by
one. This has caused many to feel trapped, and compelled them to seek asylum in Serbia, Slovenia,
and Croatia. Many are attempting to head to Germany and Sweden, where the governments have
recently passed bills to insure thousands of refugees sanctuary. These Eastern European countries,
however, are not able to handle such an influx. Deep seated ethnic rivalries, failing economies, and
constant border disputes have made the Balkans an exceptionally difficult region to travel through,
and the pressure to take in refugees has placed even more pressure on countries, mainly Serbia and
Croatia, and caused ethnic rivalries to resurface.

The Man He Killed By Wilfred Owen
War is an event that not many people experience directly. At the same time, too many people
have endured the perils of war. War is not only a physical battlefield, but a mental and emotional
one as well. Many soldiers are forced to kill individuals they might have been friends with in
different circumstances. Those same soldiers are forgotten, or expected to be proud of the things
that they did and experienced that will haunt them for the rest of their life. Three poems describe
these circumstances very well. They include The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy, Grass by
Carl Sandburg, and Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen. Could you imagine killing someone
you know nothing about just because you were told to do so? That is something that many military
members have to experience at some point. The poem The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy colors

Many of these veterans suffer from post traumatic stress disorder or simply the haunting memories
from the war. The memories of being hungry, dirty, suffering insomnia, constantly being attacked

Wilfred Owen, the speaker tells a tremendously detailed story about being in a war, and the
terrifying things that happen. At the end of the poem, the speaker tells the reader My friend,
you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent with some desperate glory, The old lie:
Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori. (Owen). This holds very true. Many veterans will not

The Execution Of An Inmate Essay
On April 29, 2014, Oklahoma prison officials administered an untested mixture of 3 drugs to
Clayton Lockett, a convicted murderer and rapist (Greenberg 1). The execution went immediately
and terrifyingly wrong. Following administration of the first drug, Lockett, obviously conscious,
started to writhe and groan, and then went into convulsions (1). This is one example of the many
botched executions that have occurred in recent history. With the possibility of an execution
going as badly as Lockett s, we must ask if we are violating the US constitution. The 8th
amendment states, Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel
and unusual punishments inflicted (amend. XIII). considering the possibility of an execution
going as badly as Lockett s, we must ask if we are violating this amendment. The execution of an
inmate is also likely to bring up issues of faith, Romans 12:18 states leave it to the wrath of God,

determine where we go as a country, including the punishments we invoke. I researched the issue of
lethal injection, through review of medical, legal and philosophical journals. Currently in
California, lethal injection is a flawed institution with limited success. Financial costs of lethal

Essay about Analysis on Movie Water
CRITICAL ANALYSIS ON MOVIE WATER by Nadzirah Nur
In my opinion, Deepa Mehta is a courageous and bold director to produce a movie Water which is
intended to affront the tradition and living style of Indians back then. She displays how every
character brings up almost perfectly similar kind of stance which is because of the doctrine and
beliefs that have been set in their minds for a long period of time. The practice inherited from one
generation to another generation which later becomes the tradition of Indian community. I could
see how every widow refuses and rebuffs changes; which they are forbidden to marry again as a
result of believing in they themselves bring unluckiness or bad luck to others. In fact, other women

Changes can be made at any time as long as it is for the sake of our happiness. However, how can
Indian women in this movie pursuit their happiness when they think they are deemed to suffer after
their husbands death as a symbol of devotion to husband?
Frederick and Mary (2012) documented on their blogs regarding Deepa s response upon the
significance of water in this movie. Deepa said,
Water can flow or water can be stagnant. I set the film in the 1930s but the people in the film
live their lives as it was prescribed by a religious text more than 2000 years old. Even today,
people follow these texts, which is one reason why there continue to be millions of widows. To me,
that is a kind of stagnant water. I think traditions should not be that rigid. They should flow like
replenishing kind of water.
I personally agree that traditions should not be rigid. It can be changed as long as we never
forsake our solid ground, forgetting of who we are and where we are from. We are born to seek
and to create a better life, guided by religions to ensure that we do not go astray. If accepting
changes are simply called defiance, what should women oppression be called? I am clueless. On
the other hand, I understand that water is the element of purity in this movie. It is shown that all
Indians come to the bank of Ganges River to clean their bodies from sins or bad luck in particular.
Similarly, in Islam, Muslims need to take wudhu

What Is Tooth Decay In The 50 s
By examining three of the commercials from the 1950s, we can conclude what the initial
perceived dental problem was in the era. In each of the commercials I analyzed, the issue of tooth
decay was mentioned repeatedly. I examined the 1956 Pepsodent commercial, the 1950s Colgate
Dental Cream commercial, and the 1956 Crest commercial. The competing companies all had a
similar substantive characteristic in that they used science and scientific terms to sway their
consumers. In the particular situation of tooth decay, all of the rhetors chose science and special
terminology that would cause a response in their audience. It is hard to argue against science after
all.
Beginning with the 1956 Pepsodent commercial we see that the scientific formula is used but not
explained. According to the cartoon images in the commercial, I.M.P. cleans the teeth and removes
the yellow stains, while Irium fights tooth decay. The science behind these products in the toothpaste
formula is not mentioned. However, the audience can see the cause and effect in relation to those
two ingredients. By using Pepsodent and its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparative Analysis Of Vertigo, North By Northwest And...
Comparative Analysis of Vertigo, North by Northwest and Notorious by Alfred Hitchcock
The British master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, made the cinematographic history by the
unique auteur approach. His own vision of the story, uncommon manner of shooting, and
challenging ideas formed his style and made him recognizable. The genius of the 50 s and 60 s,
he provided the rich legacy for the future generations and set the pace for the directors all over the
world. This paper is going to trace the specific features of Alfred Hitchcock through the analysis of
three of his world known masterpieces, namely Vertigo, North by Northwest and Notorious. The
discussion of the films will be based on three cinematographic elements: genre, use of motifs, and
camera set ups.
Genre
Alfred Hitchcock is fairly referred to as the pioneer of the psychological thrillers. Though such
genre did not exist in the 50 s, it would soon be transformed from the so called suspense films
(Thompson 41). The director was obviously a true master of making his audience feel afraid and
anxious all his innovative techniques and auteur approach were directed to create a genuine feeling
of suspense. The genre always implied psychoanalytical elements as well as those of violence and
murders.
All the films under consideration make a good example of the plot including mystery and murders.
Presented in artistic visual form, they can be defined as the typical suspense films by Hitchcock. In

Why Should Child Beauty Pageants Be Banned
Child beauty pageants create a boned with parent and child because they spend a lot of time
together, communication, and having something in common. For example, the child and parent
will have to spend a lot of time together. They will have to do hair and makeup which will last
anywhere to two hours to almost three. All the categories that the childjoins will take time to
practice which most children send about seven hours a week on it, and with their parent being their
coach that means they will be doing all those things together ( Children and Beauty Pageants ).
Another example, communication is a big one. It is hard to get a teenage daughter to talk to the
parent, but having communication will help the relationship. The communication will be hard, but
having something in common will help. Which leads to the last example, having something in
common can be hard if the kid plays tennis or another sport because they will have a coach to help
them unless the parent is the coach. In most cases for pageants the parent is the coach so will
always have something to talk about ( Children and Beauty Pageants ). As a result the parent and

developer would be the skills required. One skill that is required is reading comprehension. This is
vital to becoming a software developer because computer programmers (software developers) must
be able to comprehend other programmer s code as well as other work related events involving
literature. Another skill required is critical thinking. This is a required skill because software
developers need to use critical thinking to solve problems and bugs. An ability needed to become
a software developer is deductive reasoning. Deductive reasoning is required because it allows the
person to use general rules to solve problems both inside, and outside the code. All of these skills
and abilities would help someone become a software developer and succeed in the industry.
Knowing the skills and abilities to become a software developer is definitely needed, but typically

white policeman in Ferguson, Missouri. There had been a robbery that night, which had two
black males as suspects. The police thought Brown had matched the description and cornered
him until other officers arrived on the scene. Brown had made a run on foot after being grazed
by a bullet in the thumb. After this event, the whole case is based on witnesses. Some witnesses
say that Brown has surrendered and put his hands up, which ended up with him being shot.
Others say he had just started walking toward the officer and then got shot. The policeman is
still unaware if he is guilty or innocent, but what if he had used a taser rather than a gun? If he
were to use a taser, Brown would have most likely dropped to the ground and the police would

Essay On Importance Of Community Service
Importance of Community Service
Community service is an important component of a business s social responsibility. Everyone
belongs to a community, and it is our moral obligation to help those who cannot take care of
themselves. Providing these citizens with food, medical assistance, clothing, and shelter helps keep
the community safe and healthy. In addition, people will be less likely to commit crimes in order
to gain basic necessities if they are offered help instead. By giving back to the communities they are
located in, businesses can improve their image and gain the respect of local citizens. Therefore,
community service can be a very profitable business venture. People can develop several important
business skills through community service, such as teamwork, leadership, communication, and
problem solving. Community service can also be an excellent way for individuals to network with
others and discover new business opportunities.

accept. As we continue to evolve, we build up our own characters, and they are typically a mix of
the ethnicity and culture we inherit from our family, various encounters in our life, distinctive
identity and personality we have. Our character and identity is not something that we get easily, it s
an intricate process. The story The Other Familyby Himani Bannerji is based on a motherand a
daughter who immigrates to Canada. They belong to a black family, but after the immigration they
are living in the dominance of the white society. The school is considered as the hegemony of
Canada and teacher is considered as the mainstream, it is a sort of social institution that a hegemony
shape but they does not know the awareness of marginalized groups. The mother feels anxious
when she sees a drawing of a white family by her daughter. It was the misperceptions of the kid
that lead to forget her identity or she was too small to identify it. So to examine about the identity
of the marginalized individual the beginning is to focus on the quality of the education. It is
necessary for every school system to teach equality and inclusions of every group status so that the
marginalized group are not left isolated from the society. Secondly, the fear of the marginalized
parents from losing their kids in the mainstream society shows their lack of confidence in their own
cultural pride. Since

Theme Of Modernism In Mrs Dalloway
*Exploring the modernist elements in Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf Modernism is an era,
which is against the previous Victorian, Romantic, and Realistic eras in 19th and 20th century. In
that time, in order to understand reality, experience is more important than rational science.
Modernism is a new door to 20th century artists to look at the world from different perspectives,
because after the World War One, people became disillusioned by the previous eras and also we
can say that this era is an age of Anxiety and Dilemma. In that period of time, we can see strong
relationship ties between artists and representation of reality. Modernism was a kind of escape
from the previous eras and this situation hit the headlines among this time s artists. Mrs. Dalloway
is a book that has nearly all features of modernism; such as stream of consciousness,... Show more

This part of the story clearly shows us an image that represents a consolidated and stable self ,
also we can see that she can produce social mask whenever she wants. Each of the other
characters see only one of incompatible aspects and Mr Dalloway takes this to be her total
personality. Hence, when the novel progress, the early stable image in the mirror shifting and
contradictory views of Mrs Dalloway, and her character enlarges to encompass all the dissimilar
images while remaining encompassed by them. In Clarissa Dalloway s party that she organized,
Virginia Woolfreflects us her all of the thoughts, memories, sensations and also thoughts of other
characters. There is no story that goes fluently, in other words there is no action in the plot. Most
of the parts of the story is completely created from flashbacks. Here, Epiphany created by Virginia
Woolf and it shows us her new writing style, which is new for previous eras

Raising Cane s A Restaurant
Raising Cane s Restaurant
The food industry in Louisiana has been growing over the years and the Raising Cane s
Restaurant has been on the forefront in offering some of the best delicacies I have tasted in my
life. Throughout my life, I have had the pleasure of experiencing different restaurants and I can
admit the experience has not been disappointing at Raising Cane s Restaurant. For anyone looking
to experience a different taste of chicken, look no further than Raising Cane.Raising Cane mostly
serves chicken fingers. In fact, the restaurant s name is Raising Cane s Chicken Fingers. As its
name suggests, it offers a variety of meals, but chicken meals are their main foods. Todd Graves,
who is the C.E.O of the restaurant and Craig Silvey who was Todd s partner and currently the vice
president of information technology and finance established the restaurant in August 1996. The
restaurant has its headquarters in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which was the location of the first
restaurant. Today, Raising Cane is found in over 250 locations in the U.S and other countries
including Kuwait as of September in 2015.
I set out to visit the restaurant for lunch last Friday and the first thing I noticed was its theme
color, which is red. The restaurant s logo is made of a mixture of white, yellow and black colors
on a red and a small yellow background. Its location is equally catchy because it is located at the
intersection of University Drive and Rural Road, which is next to Arizona

Good Times Become Good Memories, And Bad Times Become Good...
Good times become good memories, and bad times become good lessons. I have had many good
and bad memories but this is one of the most memorable ones I have ever had. The most important
and vivid memory that seems like it was just yesterday was when my dad had to go to Iraq in 2009
for a year. At the time I was 5 and didn t realize the risks of him going over seas with the Army. He
could get injured or even killed. I was so depressed when I finally understood that he would be
gone for a whole year. He would leave when I was 5 and come back when I was 6. He would miss a
whole year of my life, and he would miss my 1st year of school(kindergarten). I remember exactly
where I was when my parents told me he was going away, when we had his going away party, and
when he actually left. I remember all of my emotions. It was a nice sunny day and my parents
decided we were going out to dinner. Little did I know it was the dinner that would change my life.
We decided to go to Max Erma s because that was my favorite restaurant at the time when I was 4.
They had the ice cream bar, and I loved it. I was wearing a pretty dress because earlier that day I
was playing outside and I got very dirty. After deciding where to eat, we went inside, and I had a
bath to get cleaned up. When we were all ready we got into our car and drove up to Gibsonia to go
to Max Ermas. It was very bright and sunny. It was a long drive and it felt like it took forever
because I was so excited to get ice

Ostracized She wanted to express her true self, so she came to school in neon colors and sparkly

by the star s impressive falsetto.
Psychoanalyzed He stroomed out of the classroom, screaming at his teachers and ripping posters
off of the wall, so his parents had him psychoanalyzed.

Little Red Riding Hood And Gun Violence Analysis
In 2015 alone, there have been an overwhelming 10,409 deaths due to gun violence ( Gun
Violence Archive 2015 Toll of Gun Violence ). Every year thousands of people are killed due to
people misusing guns, but there are no laws that prevent children and young teenagers from getting
a hold of guns themselves. However, the government has banned other items to protect the children
of America including items like Kinder chocolate eggs and Little Red Riding Hood.
In the images below, created by Moms Demand Action for GunSense in America, four young
children are pictured in classroom settings where two of the children are holding assault weapons
and the other two are holding a chocolate egg or a copy of the book Little Red Riding Hood. The
children in both images are centered and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

has also been 271 mass shootings, and a total of 41,262 incidents due to gun violence ( Gun
Violence Archive 2015 Toll of Gun Violence ). Through their photo series, Moms Demand Action
is trying to show others that America, as a whole, has turned their backs on gun violence and
pretend that it does not happen as often as it does. America s government, schools, and libraries
have their priorities out of line when it comes to laws that are supposed to protect our children.
These mothers and children in the images are fighting that For too long, those who stand to profit
from easy access to guns [gun makers] have controlled the conversation about gun violence.

It is the physical therapists job to take this information and form hypotheses of what pathology may be affecting the patient. With this history, an examination plan can be created in order to make this examination process thorough, but efficient. That is why it is still important to perform red flag testing to keep the patient as safe as possible. Red flag tests indicate if something potentially dangerous or life threatening is going on with the patient. This will cause a physical therapy examination to stop and that patient may be referred to their primary care physician for further care before physical therapy can proceed. These tests include vertebral artery testing and cervical instability testing (Dutton, 2012). The vertebral artery test rules out any blood supply being cut off to the brain (Magee, 2008, p. 150). In terms of cervical instability testing, the transverse ligament and alar ligament tests should be done to avoid any bones in the cervical spine moving out of place to damage the spinal cord (Magee, 2008, p. 180). When these two red flags are tested and found to be negative, the rest of the exam can start. If they turn out to be positive, a referral back to the patient s primary care physician should be made before any excursion of the cervical spine occurs. Active range of motion testing with passive end feel testing should be done next. This will allow the physical therapist to observe and feel the range of motion the patient is able to do. Also, the therapist will be able to note motions that elicit pain and if radiating pain occurs. Next, muscle length testing will detect any shortening due to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This 1500 mile journey begins in late fall and continues through the harsh winter, leaving survival seemingly slim to impossible. Different PerspectivesThe perspectives of both the Jesuit priest and the Algonquin Natives are both shown. I also believe the scenery, the buildings and housing, and the items the Europeans used to trade with the Natives was shown quite accurately. As to my personal reaction to the film at first I was on the side of Jesuit priest, cheering him on his mission, sympathizing with him in his lack of understanding the environment and the Algonquians their language, rituals and beliefs. As the movie progressed my opinion changed and I found the priest rather unforgiving towards Daniels attraction and relationship to Annuka, he seem lacking in compassion when trying to get his Christian message across and is pretty adamant and pushy trying to get Chomina to accept Christ when he was dying, when all Chomina wanted to do was die and peace and be with his people. As a Christian myself, I actually became rather upset and enraged with how the Europeans went in with the idea that they were right and the Algonquians were wrong. I don t think anyone belief system or anyone culture is more correct than another and that it was pretty arrogant and conceited of the Europeans to believe this was the case. Hipaa Compliance And Technology Use Essay HIPAA compliance and technology use: In 1996 when Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted HIPAA compliance and the use of technology was not given that much importance as it is today. Twenty years later the mobile device technology is much advanced and has much more capabilities and much faster than imagined. Advanced capabilities include messaging, internet access, e mails and ability to take pictures and be able to send using the mobile device. The problems with medical organizations staying HIPAA compliant with modern technology: The faster and more functional mobile devices with Multi capabilities raised concerns regarding the use of the technology and HIPAA compliance. Concerns relating to patients privacy and ePHI(electronically protected health information) security. Due to these concerns regulations within HIPAA were enacted in 2013 to address these concerns. Legislation related to use of technology to comply with HIPAA requires insurance companies, health care providers, employers insurance, to implement administrative, physical and technical safeguards for protecting the confidentiality of patients information which prevents a breach of ePHI. • 10. Essay Immigration and Language in Call it Sleep Immigration and Language in Call it sleep Immigrant Allegory: Language and the Symbolism of Being Lost The symbolism of being lost is a universal immigrant theme that occurs throughout many immigrant literatures, particularly in Henry Roth s Call it Sleep. Language, or lack of understanding it, has a profound contribution to the process of being lost. This contribution is shown earlier in the book, in a passage where David is lost trying to find his way home (Passage 1) and is mirrored later on in the book, when David and Aunt Bertha are lost in a museum (Passage 2). The restriction of the usage of language in both passages portrays to us the inevitable and ubiquitous immigrant dilemma: I talk, eat, and live like this new country... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... David panics in this scene as well as the scene in Passage 2. If we reread Passage 2 carefully, we see that it is really David that is mainly concerned with being lost again, not Aunt Bertha. Aunt Bertha appears to us to have diverged her attention from the couple to the exhibits at the museum, whereas David s attention is always on the two people that he is following, not once at the exhibits in the museum. It is David that tugs on Aunt Bertha s dress to warn her that their subjects might be walking too fast for them to follow anymore. Perhaps this panic is due to David s effort to get directions to his destination. In Passage 1, David asks the gentleman for directions to Bodder Street. In Passage 2, David asks the man in front of the museum whether or not this is actually the museum. David is never seen in these two passages as a bold, spirited leader; he is always seen as a follower. This has significant implications; David can never lead in this country, he can only follow. He does not posses the free spirited, Columbus conquering mentality. David is very passive and out of place in both of these passages. He follows people s advice in Passage 1 and in Passage 2, never his own intuition. David represents the immigrant who will forever be lost in his new country. What is ironic is that David s inquiries about getting the right directions fails in both cases because of his inability to manipulate language in such a way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This brought about an unprecedented flurry of Jewish political, literary, and social activity as they began to settle in the centers of Russia. Meanwhile, Soviet authorities attempted to define the course of development for the Jews of the Soviet state. The Jewish population was to be recognized in a similar fashion as other minority population, as they were granted a region, a territory with boundaries, where the Jewish nation could feel attached to a homeland. According to Robert Weinberg, the creation of Birobidzhan was part of the Communist Party s effort to set up a territorial enclave where a secular Jewish culture rooted in Yiddish and socialist principles could serve as an alternative to Palestine and resolve a variety of perceived problems besetting Soviet Jewry. The Soviet officials believed that reducing the number of Jews involved in commerce would, and instead pushing them to pursue agricultural work in Birobidzhan would decrease anti Semitism and integrate the Jewish population into the society as productive Soviet citizens who will accelerate the state s position in the Marxist timeline. However, the Birobidzhan project failed, because of the failure to equip the new settlers with adequate living sources, and most of the Soviet Jews did not want to settle in Birobidzhan primarily due to the geographical and climatic conditions of the region, lack of Jewish national sense in the region, and due to their preference of settling Russia s capitals where ... Especially, Greek tragedy literature was a popular and influential form of drama performed in theatres across ancient Greece from the late 6th century BCE, and formed the foundation upon which all modern theatre is based (Cartwright). I will look for not only the reasons why Greek writers composed such tragedy, but also focus on what made the audience enjoy the tragedy. Because, essentially the readers and the audience were the people make literatures famous and the way how audience interpreted them is also important. Indeed, tragedy not only influenced the ancient audience, but also have a great effect upon many current readers. Before we begin discuss about the ancient tragedy, let me first illustrate the meaning of tragedy. Tragedy is a form of drama based on human suffering that invokes an accompanying catharsis or pleasure in audiences (Banham). Moreover, some scholars suggest tragedy is the mirror image or negative of comedy. For instead of depicting the rise in circumstances of a dejected or outcast underdog, tragedy shows us the downfall of a once prominent and powerful hero. Like comedy, tragedy also supposedly originated as part of a religious ritual (Simpson). And in ancient Greek, both comedy and tragedy were performed widely in the theatre. In the central nervous system, the virus can spread out along the nerve fibers and begin to destroy the nerve cells, or motor neurons, resulting in limpness in the arms and legs. Again, President Washington declared his neutrality, but this time he clearly said to both England and France that he would not aid either, and he even asserted America s right to trade freely with both.[4] Peace and neutrality between the United States and Europecontinued throughout Washington s presidency and beyond. Feelings of Regret Feelings of Regret I know what it is like to be in a situation where you don t have a great home life, but you know there are other solutions to your situation then marriage. I can tell you that from experience. I turned 18 in May. Three months later I married the man I thought was my true love and the person I was going to spend my whole life with. One month after our second wedding anniversary, I separated from him and within six months we were divorced. Before I got married I believe that this would never happen to me, but it did and I became a teenage marriage statistic. Forcing oneself into marriage justified by pregnancy will definitely end unhappily, as the child is still unable to make people live together if they are lacking love. Finally, the initial affection can easily fade away. At the beginning of their relations the young people are often said to be unable to live without their second part. Jake and Glen were married when he was 19 and she was in her 17. They loved each other and the couple was brilliant. No one could say that in half a year they would be divorced. Having little life experience they were likely to think this was love at first sight. Being confident they had found their better half they were married. However, with time the passion disappeared, the mystery turned into routine, the aspiration to be together was replaced by the tiredness from cohabitation and the desire to be alone had grown. In such circumstances the spouses seek for joy and satisfaction away from home and prefer the company of friends to that of the husband or wife. • 24. The Migrant Crisis Since 2011, some 4.1 million refugees have fled from Syria in an attempt to find asylum in Europe. The NPR article written by Greg Myre, The Migrant Crisis, estimates that the total amount of Syrians who have been displaced is as high as 7.6 million. This has placed enormous pressure of European countries to take in refugees, though many of these, especially the Eastern European bloc countries of Hungary, Croatia, and Serbia, refuse to let the flood of migrants into their country. This has left millions of refugees stranded without a home, food, shelter, or hope. As early as September of 2015, refugees have been denied access into Hungary, which could easily serve as a means of getting into Germany and Austria. To be granted passage into Hungary, hundreds of people wait outside of a single white trailer with one door, being processed one by one. This has caused many to feel trapped, and compelled them to seek asylum in Serbia, Slovenia, and Croatia. Many are attempting to head to Germany and Sweden, where the governments have recently passed bills to insure thousands of refugees sanctuary. These Eastern European countries, however, are not able to handle such an influx. Deep seated ethnic rivalries, failing economies, and constant border disputes have made the Balkans an exceptionally difficult region to travel through, and the pressure to take in refugees has placed even more pressure on countries, mainly Serbia and Croatia, and caused ethnic rivalries to resurface. ... War is not only a physical battlefield, but a mental and emotional one as well. Many soldiers are forced to kill individuals they might have been friends with in different circumstances. Those same soldiers are forgotten, or expected to be proud of the things that they did and experienced that will haunt them for the rest of their life. Three poems describe these circumstances very well. They include The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy, Grass by Carl Sandburg, and Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen. The execution went immediately and terrifyingly wrong. Following administration of the first drug, Lockett, obviously conscious, started to writhe and groan, and then went into convulsions (1). This is one example of the many botched executions that have occurred in recent history. With the possibility of an execution going as badly as Lockett s, we must ask if we are violating the US constitution. However, how can Indian women in this movie pursuit their happiness when they think they are deemed to suffer after their husbands death as a symbol of devotion to husband? Frederick and Mary (2012) documented on their blogs regarding Deepa s response upon the significance of water in this movie. Deepa said, Water can flow or water can be stagnant. I set the film in the 1930s but the people in the film live their lives as it was prescribed by a religious text more than 2000 years old. Even today, people follow these texts, which is one reason why there continue to be millions of widows. To me, that is a kind of stagnant water. I think traditions should not be that rigid. They should flow like replenishing kind of water. I personally agree that traditions should not be rigid. It can be changed as long as we never forsake our solid ground, forgetting of who we are and where we are from. We are born to seek and to create a better life, guided by religions to ensure that we do not go astray. If accepting changes are simply called defiance, what should women oppression be called? I am clueless. On the other hand, I understand that water is the element of purity in this movie. In each of the commercials I analyzed, the issue of tooth decay was mentioned repeatedly. I examined the 1956 Pepsodent commercial, the 1950s Colgate Dental Cream commercial, and the 1956 Crest commercial. The competing companies all had a similar substantive characteristic in that they used science and scientific terms to sway their consumers. In the particular situation of tooth decay, all of the rhetors chose science and special terminology that would cause a response in their audience. It is hard to argue against science after all. Beginning with the 1956 Pepsodent commercial we see that the scientific formula is used but not explained. According to the cartoon images in the commercial, I.M.P. cleans the teeth and removes the yellow stains, while Irium fights tooth decay. His own vision of the story, uncommon manner of shooting, and challenging ideas formed his style and made him recognizable. The genius of the 50 s and 60 s, he provided the rich legacy for the future generations and set the pace for the directors all over the world. In that time, in order to understand reality, experience is more important than rational science. Modernism is a new door to 20th century artists to look at the world from different perspectives, because after the World War One, people became disillusioned by the previous eras and also we can say that this era is an age of Anxiety and Dilemma. • 46. Good Times Become Good Memories, And Bad Times Become Good... Good times become good memories, and bad times become good lessons. I have had many good and bad memories but this is one of the most memorable ones I have ever had. At the time I was 5 and didn t realize the risks of him going over seas with the Army. He could get injured or even killed. I was so depressed when I finally understood that he would be gone for a whole year. He would leave when I was 5 and come back when I was 6. He would miss a whole year of my life, and he would miss my 1st year of school(kindergarten). I remember exactly where I was when my parents told me he was going away, when we had his going away party, and when he actually left. I remember all of my emotions. It was a nice sunny day and my parents decided we were going out to dinner. Little did I know it was the dinner that would change my life. We decided to go to Max Erma s because that was my favorite restaurant at the time when I was 4. They had the ice cream bar, and I loved it. I was wearing a pretty dress because earlier that day I was playing outside and I got very dirty. After deciding where to eat, we went inside, and I had a bath to get cleaned up. When we were all ready we got into our car and drove up to Gibsonia to go to Max Ermas. It was very bright and sunny. It was a long drive and it felt like it took forever because I was so excited to get ice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
