The Longbow Research Paper
The longbow has been around for centuries and was a dominant weapon of destruction in the
early ages. The longbow is a 6 foot long stick with string attached to either side of the stick. It can
fire projectiles called arrows at high speeds. The longbow was very advanced for its time.
Longbows have dominated the medieval times all the way to the time when muskets were

These shooting competitions also meant that huge archery tournaments would prepare troops for
war.One of the major laws was that each of the kings requested a certain number a troops per year
or they will be sentenced to certain death. Many lords also made archery practice compulsory.
Those who never attended the archery tournaments were fined which was usually enough to make
citizens attend. They still have archery tournaments today all around the world. (Trueman) The
longbow had a huge effect on not just england but on all countries. Longbows were not just
weapons of destruction but were also used for other useful jobs. People have used bows since we
can remember for hunting and fishing. Bow fishing is a really big sport which you shoot fish with
barbed arrows and pull them back in out of the water. They catch things from carp to pike. They
then clean the fish and cook them for there families. Hunting is something that us humans have
done for a very very very long time. From deer to moose to small game animals such as rabbits
and squirrels. Probably one of the most famous ways we know about bows is from native
americans. Longbows was their main weapon of choice. It helped them

Charley s Analysis
In contrast to the Thunder Bay area in Canada, Duluth obtained rail service a decade prior to
Charley s trek, which initiated a flurry of economic activity. However the Panic of 1873 and the
ensuing economic depression reversed many of the initial gains. Nevertheless, by the time Charley
reached the fledgling city, it stood at the threshold of another surge in population, industry, and
wealth.14 The family s oral history speculates that Charley followed the St. Croix River south from
Duluth to Chisago County.15 This is highly unlikely, since it required an approximately forty mile
detour into Wisconsin to reach the source of the river. Charley probably used the railroad, either
as a passenger or as a physical guide to direct him to his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Staying By Scott Russell Sanders
In the passage from Staying: Making a home in a restless world, Scott Russell Sanders responds
to an essay by Salman Rushdie, a writer who left his native India for England. To develop his
perspective about moving, Sanders uses a variety of rhetorical strategies. Scott Russell Sanders
introduces his viewpoint by saying: In the newspaper I read that, even though our sprawling system
of interstate highways is crumbling, the president has decided that we should triple it in size, and
all without raising our taxes a nickel. Only a populace drunk on driving, a populace infatuated with
the myth of the open road, could hear such a proposal without hooting (lines 20 26). In this
example, Scott Russell Sanders mentions the expansion of interstate... Show more content on

Thus, he evokes the support of his idea that moving is unreasonable and illogical within the reader.
In addition, the author opposes Rushdie s enthusiasm for migration by quoting Rushdie s words on
the elimination of nationalism that comes with moving. Sanders then says, ... who would pretend
that a history of migration has immunized the United States against bigotry? And even if, by
uprooting ourselves, we shed our chauvinism, is that all we lose? (lines 40 43) Sanders uses
rhetorical questions to show reader that nationalism may be lost when people move, but the
greater aspects of a country may be lost as well. With this said, the author includes historical
references to verify his claim that many of the worst abuses have been carried out by people who
root themselves in ideas rather than places . Scott Russell Sanders includes how nations have been
sabotaged after migration when he says: Migrants often pack up their visions and values with the
rest of their bagages and carry them along. The Spaniards devastated Central and South America by
imposing on this New World the religion, economics, and politics of the

Japanese American Internment Camps
Less than minimum wage was their only option, as the Japanese Americans lived in constant
fear and never knowing if they would live to see the next day. Each camp over time, began to
follow its own routine or schedule, such as, children going to school everyday and adults having
jobs, even if the Japanese Americans were only paid $5 ( Japanese American Internment ). The
daily life from afar was not changed much but, up close the day to day structure changed
tremendously. The traditional structure of the Japanese family was diminished by the informal
structure of the camps, families were split apart and the respect for elders slowly disappeared (

Albert Bandura vs Raymond Cattell
Cattell was born in a small town in England. After seeing the deaths, and suffering of the people
and soldiers in World War I, Cattell began to have a huge curiosity in trying to fix the problems
people have in their lives by using science. Cattell was very big on personality, his definition of
Personality is that which permits a prediction of what a person will do in a given situation
(Cattell). Cattells definition of personality is very different from other theorist. Freud is a great
example; Freud s theory was that personality had three different types the id, the ego, and the super

Theses models provide examples of behavior, for the children to observe and imitate. Children
tend to pay attention to most of the models. At a later time in the child s life they may imitate
the behavior that they are surrounded by. This can be related to nurture. Nurture means the
things that us, as humans see in our environment not something we are born with that comes
natural to us. Nature on the other hand is something that we inherit from our genetics. I agree
with the study Bandura conducted I feel as if we do have things that we are just born with, but I
feel like the things that tend to happen around us are really what influence us and make us the
way we are. I for one know that there are many things that I learned just from being observation

charging are studied. With the increase in number of people using mobiles, the physical cables
used for the charging of the devices also increased. This increase in demand for the cables led to
the idea of Wireless charging. Wireless charging initially was a novelty but with the advancement
in technology, it has become a mainstream application now. Experiments have been conducted on
the various methods used for the wireless charging and some of the methods are discussed in the
paper. Keywords: wireless power transfer, resonant inductive coupling, ecoupled technology,
nano battery, solar panel. INTRODUCTION: A mobile phone charger is devised to recharge the
battery in mobile unit. A car s battery was placed directly inside the phones were used initially
instead of cell phone batteries which are used today. Most early cell phones were only able to be
used in a vehicle because they needed such large amounts of battery power. [1] Mobile phone
batteries evolved and improved with the time with different materials being used with the
advancement in technology. Nickel Cadmium mobile Phone Batteries were used in 1980 1990.The

quickly and efficiently. Currently, I am doing masters degree in accounting, and in terms of my
future career setting I have planned to complete my PhD then start my teaching career most

It is more towards the environment in which teacher only teaches stuff and students have to
memorize it in order to get good scores. In my opinion teacher and students should have a
relationship which is more collaborative in nature. Furthermore, teaching students on small groups
will be more beneficial for the students because it will be more rewarding for the students in terms
of learning.
Groups will increase the interaction between students and teachers. Formation of groups will also
help the students in developing problem solving skills, decision making skills and it will also
enhance the communication skills. Groups are of a great use for teachers, because teaching to
groups is easier, it keep the students motivated and increase their attendance too. Alongside, it will
also increase the participation at the end of students. Hence, learning environment can be seen.
Studying and teaching in groups will also act as simulation of the professional careers, because it
will provide the students with the environment in which they have to accomplish certain task in
groups (anonymous, n.d.).
In terms of best practices of leadership, literature describes that leader is the one who lead others
to get the job done (Goleman, 2000).Leader plays pivotal role in success of any group and

Bond Note On Bond And Bond
After completing the table of bond valuations I noticed some definite trends. Consider the AAA
rated bond I chose in my valuation, yielding a 3.13% to maturity. As the remaining two bonds are
BB and CCC, both have noticeably high yield to maturity percentages. In my observation, As the
bond credit rating decreases, the yield to maturity percentage increases. The higher the yield, the
more likely it is that the firm issuing the bondis not of high quality.(High/low yield bonds, 2006)
Coupon rate and the yield to maturity determine trade at a discount, premium, par.
Pertaining to the bonds in my valuation, the coupon rates and yield to maturity is established in
such a way to influence bond perception. Premium sale of bonds are due to the coupon rate being
established above the prevailing interest rate. Investors bid up the price in order to receive the
benefit of a higher coupon rate. In a result, as the coupon rate attracts investors they are more
willing to pay a premium for the bond. Once the bond matures, the investor will have received the
stated coupon rate, but because of the increased initial payment for the bond the yield to maturity is
lower over the life of the bond (Premium bond, 2003).
Yield to maturity, market value of the bonds if the time to maturity was increased decreased by 5
years?
As a bonds time to maturity increases, so does its yield to maturity. This is due to the issuer having
the obligation to pay its coupon rates for an extended period of time.

Implementing High Cognitive Demand Tasks
To implement high cognitive demand tasks, we need to plan for the tasks accordingly to promote
reasoning and problem solving skills, help our students to explain and justify the answers, give the
students chance to discuss and validate the results, and ask students to explain their thinking about
the math concepts. I divided each class into teams of four to work collaboratively on the tasks.
Another strategy I did during these tasks was revise and find different ways to make the tasks easier
to start and complete within the groups. I learned how to explain and the task thoroughly, I walked
around the room more, checking up on the groups. If students had any questions, comments, or
thoughts about the task they could asked me while I was walking around the room. I asked my
students many different questions like inviting, probing, pressing, waiting, orienting, re voicing,
connecting, and explaining questions to help them start or continue solving the task. These
questions would extend their knowledge of the concepts and make them think deeply about solving
and justifying their answers. I needed to prepare well planned intentional questions, think about the
barriers and the challenges such as previous knowledge. To help the all the students in engaging
with the task, we need to allow them enough time to work on the task. During these tasks students
work together as a team to meet the goal of how to solve the quadratic equations? and how can they

Panopticon Essay
The author of the essay Panopticism , Michel Foucault gives his opinion on power and discipline
in Panopticism. He describes Jeremy Bentham s Panopticon , a tower in the centre of a room
which has vision to every cell, generalized for prisoners. In simple words, it functioned in
maintaining discipline throughout the jail. It s most distinctive feature was that; prisoners could be
seen without ever seeing. Prisoners would never really know when they are watched and when
not. They are always under the impression that someone is keeping an eye on them continuously
and if anything goes wrong, or they make mistake, they would be punished severely. Since, a
prisoner would never know when he/she is watched, they have to be at their best. In a... Show more

I can relate this to myself. I go to Harbor Point Gym. It is fairly huge with ample of machines and
cardio equipments. There is another room for people who wants to practice yoga and meditate.
While working out at the gym, I am always guarded about myself being watched by other people,
peers passing by the gym, cameras at the gym etc. it s a human tendency and people really do
look and analyze people. There s always a thought running at the back of my mind what if other
people saw me or made fun of me. This thought makes me behave in a right, well mannered way.
Nobody forced me to behave in a certain way but it was that creepy thought of myself being
mocked. I did not just behaved well but also pushed myself a little extra. Also, there are treadmills
kept closer to one another. This in turn makes one conscious about their selves. This helps me relate
to the idea of Foucault s Panopticon where he describes Visibility as a trap (). What he means by
this is, being visible at times is also a trap. You can be caught anytime if you are doing something
incorrect. In my example of a treadmill, another person also using the treadmill watches you. You
are constantly conscious and try to look what the other person is up to and try to compete him/her.
This generates a competitive spirit and thus, people push themselves in order to prove their selves.
It not only enhances your body but also aids in developing self confidence.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome: A Lucky Evolution? Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
(SARS) was a viral disease that quickly spread China and the world in 2003 to 2004. The corona
virus targeted the respiratory system and killed 10% of people who caught it. By examining
articles that relate to this disease, I have come to the conclusion that SARS was just a One Hit
Wonder that was the result of a lucky evolution because of how and when it happened. The virus
only lasted for 2 years, evolved from bats, and is not likely to happen again in the same way. First
of all, SARS was a lucky evolution because it only lasted for about a year. The first case of SARS
was documented on November 16, 2002 and there have been no known cases since 2004.
According to the EDU, a total of 8,098 people worldwide became sick ... Of these, 774 died. The

one of the two human infecting strains to jump from the bats to one of the handlers, and the disease
was set to infect all whom it came in contact with. Even though bats are a common source of
infection, there are several reasons why the infections rarely become epidemic. The ancestors of the

The Initiation Of 3 D Printing
Initiation of 3 D printing took place in end 1980s. Fundamentals of 3 D printing were laid by
Japanese Professor. Although he was not able to contribute 100% with his idea, but later on, Mr.
Charles Huck carried on with this idea and finally came up with a machine that can create
prototypes. Later he also co founded a 3 D manufacturing company that is right now one of the
largest 3 D company in the world and contributes a lot to modern era problems. After this initiative,
progress on additive manufacturingprocess or 3 D printing got started, and since then, it became one
of the most important sector of science, specifically engineering, as it have produced a lot of useful
results and have also simplified some lengthy tasks, transforming them into efficient, accurate and
cost effective activity.
As discussed in introduction about types of 3 D printers and variety of industries where they can
be used, explanations regarding these aspects are as follows:
i.STEREO LITHOGRAPHY (SLA) ii. FUSED DEPOSITION MODELLING iii. SELECTIVE
LASER SINTERING (SLS) iv. MULTI JET MODELLING (MJM)
v.VFLASH PRINTER vi. FUSED FILAMENT FABRICATION (FFF) OR FUSED DEPOSTION
MODELLING (FDM)

layer, so certain dimensions are required by printers to print that part. As all designing activities are

The Between 1800 s And 1860 S
The South in one period in time became a distinct entity away from the North. It became a separate
unified entity during the Antebellum Period between 1800 s and 1860 s. This period introduces the
idea that men wanted to make a difference in the world. An idea that a male will share is that of
absolute authority on his own plantation. One term that can be pinned down on this is that of the
yeomanfarmer. A Yeomen farmer strived to become successful. Many wanted to own a huge
plantation with lots of slaves. Owning a lot slaves meant that many men could relax. The term of
Yeomen Farmers is introduced by Thomas Jefferson who sets a milestone for Southerners down
the road. Other then Yeomen farmers being part of the Social class is that of women. Women in
society are to be subjected to their husband. What the husband says for the to do it goes. Only one
exception to this is that if a woman is a Southern Belle. They can be further opinionatedThe South
is unified by the idea of a social class, honor, and politics.
There is a class division that separates yeomen farmers and poor whites that came to sometimes
became overseers of slave plantations. Poor whites are considered low on the social hierarchy in
the South. Jobs of the Overseers meant that they control slaves and overlook how slaves work. If
slaves are not productive they can get beat by these overseers. Masters often did not want to be

the early twentieth century. While cognizant of the extraordinary brutality that lay beneath the legal

Charles Banks, an admiring one, confirms historian Robert Kenzer s observation that successful
African Americans in the South were forced to live very public lives in which they faced constant

Founded in 1887 as an all black community with the support of the Louisville, New Orleans, and

precipitously in the last years of the nineteenth century. By the early twentieth century, Washington
could look upon Mound Bayou as an exemplar of his famous injunction to cast down your bucket

Subsequent chapters explore Banks s activities in Mound Bayou through his connection to the

. For the purposes of this review, most may be
summarized briefly. Chapters 3 and 4 explicitly describe Banks s connection to the Tuskegee

secretary, Emmett Scott, relied upon Banks for information about Mississippi affairs. Through his
connection to Tuskegee, Banks was able to obtain for Mound Bayou a farm demonstration agent

Welfare Against Mandatory Minimum Law
Families Against Mandatory Minimum also known as FAMM advocate for smart sentencing such
as individualized and fair criminal sentencing that protect the public. FAMM is nonprofit supported
by attorneys, judges, criminal justice experts and concerned citizens. Their objectives include:
uncrowding jails, which use citizens tax money, shift resources from uncrowded jails due to
excessive incarceration to other departments such as law enforcement and additional programs
whose aims include reducing crimeand recidivism, and lastly, encourage individuals who have
suffered from mandatory minimum sentencing and whose lives have been harmed by these
practices to be constructive. To achieve their goal of fair sentencing, FAMM advocates for their
objectives on a state and national level. Sometimes FAMM gets involved in appeals and works
with lawyers, however most of the time FAMM just does presentations for governmental positions
such as Congress or the U.S. Supreme court, asking for change. In addition, FAMM encourages
people to call their local representatives and spread the word, realizing there is strength in numbers
( Sentencing that, 2014). There are several ongoing projects working towards their goal. The
Massachusetts Project is an initiative where FAMM is working on changing drug sentencing laws
and the for the Florida Project FAMM is working on drug and gun laws where there are no

Death of a Salesman as a Modern Tragedy
Death of a Salesman as a modern tragedy
Death of a Salesman as a modern tragedy
Death of a Salesman is typically classified as a modern tragedy. This implies that it follows the
example of the classic Greek tragedies, Roman tragedies and Shakespearian and Jacobean tragedy.
There are, however, subtle but vital differences between these forms. Aristotle s classic view of
tragedy saw the form as one which only properly deals with the fate of gods, kings and heroes. In
the twentieth century, such a restricted definition would consign tragedy to the waste bin of literary
history. Consequently, in Deathof a Salesman, Miller challenges this view and presents us with an
entirely new one.

Miller s narrative form
The fact that the story is told through both present events and Willy s versions of the past means
that it is entirely self contained. All the essential details of his childhood, his life away from
Linda and his sons and the mainsprings of his character are revealed so gradually that they are
easily absorbed and understood. We are left in no doubt as to what is fact and what is fantasy in
the frequent re enactments. The audience sees Willy s own accounts being neatly balanced by
those of other characters.
Miller s almost kaleidoscopic approach allows us to believe in, and be engaged by, the tragedy
that unfolds in a way that would be difficult in a more traditional dramatic presentation. A
straightforwardly chronological account would be both less interesting and less revealing than
the juxtaposition of scenes Miller gives us. It is often the sidelights thrown on events by seeing
them re enacted and hearing Willy draw conclusions from them that enables us to gain a clear
picture of what happens. In this way, we are able to appreciate the scale of Willy s decline and his
own part in it.
Unlike the kings and heroes of classical tragedies, Willy is so fully fleshed, so human, that it is
difficult not be fooled into believing he is a real person and not simply a character in a play.

and has killed millions of people, oppressed a variety of groups for centuries, and stunted societal
growth on multiple occasions. Some people may disagree and claim that religionbrings about many
great qualities in people, which is not incorrect. However it has brought about far more harm than
good over the course of history.
As of 2010, Pew Research estimates there to be 2.2 billion Christians[1] and 1.6 billion
Muslims[2]. These 2 groups comprise almost half of the world s population and that is not even
considering the hundreds of other faiths that are still practiced today. Pew also estimates that there
are only about 1.1 billion people who are not affiliated with any faith[3], but some of these people
still hold basic religious beliefs and are just not associated with a specific religion. In other words,
religion has managed to infect over 80 percent of the world s ... Show more content on

However, faith can be a double edged sword as other people may question why their god would
punish them. This can lead to even more guilt as people blame themselves for inciting their god s
wrath leading to whatever happened, for example the death of a family member. Using faith to
avoid difficult questions in life also prevents people from bettering themselves as people and
learning to actually cope with existential issues. Additionally, religion only builds communities
within a certain faith, and it pushes away those in other faiths. There is constant conflict between
faiths and this can lead to splits between people of different

Black Canyon Essay
Ever since my dad was a young boy he has wanted to visit all the National Parks in the United
States. We ve already been to The Grand Canyon in Arizona, The Badlands in South Dakota,
Biscayne in Florida, Mesa Verde in Colorado, and many more! This time we were headed for
Colorado where National Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, is located. I was really dreading
this trip. I d never heard of this park before and neither had my friends. All the other parks we d

I smiled because I remembered reading about all the unique and facinating birds in the book my
mother got me yesterday. I was very intruigued by the canyon s rim and gorge. Sammy said that
the canyon s gorge showed no sign of human occupation, but we could still go down there for a
tour. We all agreed that would be a good idea. Sammy told us to stay close behind him, for the
way down could be a little tricky. As we walked with Sammy I stopped every once and awhile to
bend down a study the small little yellow flowers that lined the pathway. I remembered reading
about thses flowers! They were Mountain Parsley. They looked more beautiful in person than in
my book. I pulled out my camera to take a quick picture of them. After I was finished I looked up
and Sammy and my family were gone. At first I didn t panic. Earlier we had passed those tall blue
flowers called Silvery Lupines. Or was it those bright orange ones called Scarlet Globemallows? It
was then I realised I was lost. I was lost in the middle of Colorado. No one was in sight. There
were flowers of many colors everywhere, the sun beat down hard on me, and it was scorching hot. I
sat down and thought there was no hope.

Essay on Challenger
On January 26, 1986, one of the greatest disasters of our time occurred. When Challenger was
destroyed many questions were asked about the safety of space missions. Many questions were
asked about the credibility of the engineers who designed the air craft.
It is now know that crucial information about the faulty O rings was know to many if not all of the
engineers. These engineers had many moral decisions they had to face when the problem was first
noticed, which was as early as
November 1981.
When a shuttle is launched their are two booster rockets attached to the side of it that disconnect

Analysis Of The Film There Will Be Blood
The film There Will Be Blood is a drama directed by Paul Anderson in 2007. It s widely known
for the performance of Day Lewis who plays Daniel Plainview, the cinematography, and the
screenplay. Set in the early 1900s the plot follows a wealth driven man whose goal is to take
over the oil industry with his oil drilling company. Daniel Plainview and his company surveys
land for oil and once found they offer the landowners signing bonuses and royalties to build on
their property. In the beginning, Daniel is approached by a man who claims to have a significant
amount of oil under his families grounds. From here on the film, There Will Be Blood, exhibits a
story of a road to riches that both creates and destroys the future. There Will Be Blood displays
all the elements of artistic form discussed in class. First, the plot and characters. The plot is of a
man whose mission is wealth while along the way he s met with religious problems, family issues,
and more. The writers also perfectly executed their cast of characters for the plot. For example, Eli
Sunday, played by Paul Dano. Eli gave a sense of hope and kindness in film through his religious
beliefs and goals of helping others. This was a nice contrast to the violence and greed that Daniel
and his company brought along. Another critical character to the plot was H.W., Daniel s non
biological son. H.W., played by Dillon Freasier, was an important addition to the conflicts that arise
for Daniel. Specifically, Daniel is met

with other countries. Three major sectors of the Sri Lankan economysuch as agriculture sector,
industrial sector, and service sector were also subjected to economic reforms under this new trend.
Several studies have been conducted to evaluate the impacts of new economic policy in various
sectors of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka s agriculture export income mainly depends on Tea, Rubber and

The Dark Room Of The Room
The Dark Room
The dancers in the room constantly remain in contact with anything the dancers touch. The dancers
progress from a wall to the arms of a person to a floor. The connection remains the same through
these actions. The points of contact remain with the body, and the dancer starts exploring different
perspectives of what the body can do with in relation to the ground.
The dancers consistently in contact with the objects around them. In the beginning, a woman walks
on the side of the wall while walking into an object. As a woman in a white dress comes out of a
swinging door, she walks forward with her body leaning on the wall. The women maintain the
contact of her left hand with the side left side of the wall. The room is full of chairs, so the
women also bumps into an object with a loud noise while leaning and maintaining the contact with
the wall. The noise is loud and drags on for the audience. The object would be a black chair. The
black chairs are not noticeable because the room at the very beginning of the dance is very dark. It
is not until several minutes into the play that you notice there are chairs are in the room.
Another instance of contact in the dance is when the women heads to her chair, she stands and
takes of her dress. The dress coming off revealing the bright white skin in contrast with the dark
room. The women stand briefly, looking straight ahead, and proceeds downward in a direct motion.
The women connect herself with the chair and the table

Mountain Mountains On The Planet
Mountain climbing in Alaska When I hear a person talk about the great state of Alaska, I wonder
what he or she would say about it. Is it the endless mountain ranges covered with snow, or could it
be the frigid temperatures? The state of Alaska has mountains as far as the eye can see. If you have
ever climbed to the top of a mountain, you know how exciting it can be once you have reached the
top. Especially, when it is your first experience climbingthe face of any mountain and you do not
know what to expect. As a child, my memory recalls the first time I was pretending to scale
towering mountain sides to impress my friends and family. When we are children, the world
appears a lot larger, and the mountain tops in my back yard in southern California seemed
colossal to me. Playing in the foothills, I would try to imagine myself scaling one of the greatest
mountains on the planet. Nearly twenty five years have come to pass, and I still seek mountain
ranges to explore. I have always enjoyed the outdoors, rather than being indoors all the time.
Mountain climbing is rewarding and exhausting simultaneously. I like to find new places out in
the wilderness. One of my favorite moments is when I find a waterfall; something about the
sounds of flowing water soothes my soul. At the beginning of 2010, I received a call from the
engineering firm I worked for; they informed me of a unique project for the oil and gas industry

Book Of Jonah Argument Analysis
Before digging into the purpose of Jonah, there is a controversy in the area of interpretation when
it comes to Jonah. Aside from the author s purpose of Jonah, the book s purpose for the individual
depends on the view on its nature and on a person s exegesis (Gaebelein, Jonah Section) (a personal,
educated, critical interpretation). There is still much argument over whether the book of Jonahis
historical or parabolic. The parabolic view faces numerous difficulties. For example, historical
references in the Biblesuch as 2 Kings 14:25 ( BibleGateway. Quick Search: Jonah. N.p., n.d. Web.

Encyclopedia Britannica, n.d. Web. 26 Oct. 2014.) The historical notion is greatly supported
because God Himself referred to the book of Jonah as historical (see Matthew 12:38 41, Luke 11:29
30, 32). On the parabolic side, there is a main argument against Jonah being historical. It is the
impossibility of Jonah surviving in the whale s stomach for three days and three nights (See Jonah
1:17). This argument has flaws. There are instances that display that a person could survive in this
environment (stranger occurrences have happened in our time). Plus, they were of brief periods of
time. On the other hand, multiple explanations have been stated as to how it could have happened
with little inconvenience for Jonah, but these cannot be stated with certainty. (Gaebelein, Jonah
Section) Since the whale incident is very generalized, personal interpretations should not come into
play. As a note, parabolic interpretations can be categorized as both personal interpretations and
spiritual interpretations that teach moral lessons. Jonah was not sent to preach monotheism or
higher ethics to Nineveh; but the purpose of Jonah s message was to bring Nineveh to repentance.

Persuasive Speech About Drug Use
People are beginning to wake up and realize that drug prohibition is an utter failure a waste of time
and resources, at the very least. Yet, not everyone is quite convinced, thanks to decades of
propoganda, hear say, and misinformation. From an outsider s perspective, it s quite easy to
empathize with people that genuinely think drugs are a gateway to darkness and despair, with the
statistics of violence and criminal activity, potential dangers that come with druguse, and social
stigmas, that run amok in society. However, as we continue to evolve and advance our
technological capabilities, expand our scientific knowledge, and grow closer towards collectively
understanding the strange phenomena we call life , we also learn more about the past. We have
more to work with when formulating hypotheses and theories about our species origins, what our
ancestors were like, how far we ve evolved, etc. Perhaps one of the more shocking bits of... Show

The earliest, most credible account of drug use by humans dates back between 50,000 60,000 B.C.,
in which there is a notion that Neanderthals of the time used the psychoactive stimulant, Ephedra,
as evidenced by a burial site in Iraq, where pollen remains of the herbal drug were found. There is
contradictory evidence which states the remains of the ephedra may have come from rodents in the
area, who are known to burrow and store seeds and flowers in their burrows, making it impossible to
come to a concrete conclusion on whether these people did use the drug. Nevertheless, prospectors
believe that if these people actually took use of the drug, that it may have been for medicinal,
spiritual, and/or entheogenic ritualistic purposes, as the effects of the ephedra have euphoric,
amphetaminic, and sympathomimetic (mimics the effects of neurotransmitter substances, such as

Jackie And Me Character Traits
After reading Jackie and Me by Dan Gutman, I have learned that Joe Stoshack is a dynamic
character. At the beginning of the book, Joe is misbehaving; eventually, Joe becomes thoughtful,
and then very self controlled.. These character traits were observed through Joe s actions,
dialogue, relationships, choices, and problems. In the first chapters I have learned that Joe was
dishonest and through his action and choices and this tells me this character cannot be trusted.
One reason why Joe is dishonest, is that Joe told Mrs. Robinson (Jackie s wife) and other people
that he wasn t a time traveler even thought Joe was. Another reason is that when Joe got back
from the journey Joe didn t tell his teacher that he went back in time Joe said he found it from the
baseball cards and lied when he should have been honest although he didn t want people to know.
The last reason why Joe is dishonest, is when Joe came back from the first time that he didn t tell

Their Eyes Were Watching God And The Road
Unknown Forces and Their Impact The books, Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Road,
seem to be completely different from each other for various reasons. One takes place in the south
during the early 1900 s while the other takes place in the future after an apocalyptic event.
However, both books share a similar idea. In both books the main characters have spiritual
connections with an unknown force that is the main cause of both their misfortune and their
happiness. Overall, both authors from Their Eyes Were Watching God
and The Road believe that
there is a higher being that has control over both the good and bad aspects of life. Their Eyes Were
Watching God by Zora Neale Hurstonfollows a young African American woman named Janie as
she tells her friend Pheoby about her past experiences. It can be assumed that nature as well
higher being or unknown force drives Janie s morals and shapes her experiences. The first instance
where Janie connects with nature in a significant way was an experience she had when she was
sixteen. She was lying under the peartree in her backyard when she noticed the bees around the
tree. She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister calyxes arch
to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in
every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a marriage! She had been summoned to
behold a revelation (Hurston 10). Something out of Janie s control brought

Similarities Between Kirkland And George Seurat
Connecting the Dots George Seurat and Vance Kirkland were avante garde artists from two
different time periods who experimented with new techniques and ideas in painting. Both
placed a heavy focus on color theory, which is believed to be the most important aspect for a
career as a painter. The two of them were able to develop their own dot painting styles and both
were heavily criticized for their newly invented techniques. Seurat was accused of being a cold
blooded mystifyer by one critic of his time. With exaggerated titles such as The Energy Of
Explosions 24 Billion Years B.C. (1978 no. 3), New York galleries of the 1970s criticized Kirkland
for the names of his paintings, because the titles to his paintings are not scientifically accurate....

Each one contains a subject matter of either urban scenes, landscapes or seashores. A Sunday on
La Grande Jatte is his most famous painting and the one that set the stage for his new found
techniques. The size of the painting was very much different than that of the smaller paintings
of the Impressionists. It was huge for the time, roughly taking up an entire wall, the painting
commanded attention from any viewer within the vicinity. The colors of the dots blend together
optically by the viewer s eyes to create a magnificently composed work of art. Kirkland on the
other hand, used subject matter that was out of this world. By attaching cosmic names to his
paintings such as The Energy of Explosions 24 Billion Years B.C. (1978 no. 3), Mysteries in
Vertical Space, Space Mysteries, Five Red Orange Suns In Space, Blue Mysteries Near the Sun,
and Blue Vibrations In Pink Space, it s clear to the viewer his subject matter is out of this world.

The Twin Towers Of The World Trade Center
The Twin waterfalls that are placed in the ground where the twin towers of the World Trade
Center once stood serve as a memorial to the events that took place on Tuesday, September 11,
2001. The Architect of these twin waterfalls, Michael Arad, wanted to create a memorial that
was stoic and defiant, but also quiet and respectful. Arad explained. I didn t want a design that
felt the need to scream loudly. I felt the site was frightened with so much history, anything we
say here is amplified a thousand fold. The project that Arad had in mind was no easy feat, it took
roughly 6 years to complete due to numerous architectural obstacles that the workers had to
conquer. This mechanical marvel is able to send water from the bottom of the waterfall back to
the top at an astonishing rate of 24,000 gallons per minute. However, gusts of wind cause
turbulence on top of the water so the engineers needed to create a system that is not only strong,
but also able to variate the power given to these pumps in order to maintain that serene aesthetic
look of the water smoothly flowing down the waterfall. This mechanical marvel also boasts filters
to take sediment out, UV lights to kill bacteria, and chemical additives to prevent the water from
becoming polluted. Every minute detail has been thought of by architect Michael Arad and
landscape architect Peter Walker. For example, trees were placed surrounding these waterfalls in
order to comfort and calm those who come to this spot to mourn.

Cyber Attackers Use For Hacking An Organization
Phishing has become one of the most successful methods cyber attackers use for hacking an
organization. It has become effective because it targets the weakest link, people. Cyber attackers
understand that the easiest way to hack into an organization, infecting someone s computer or gain
someone s password is to simply ask. Phishingworks by sending an email to millions of people
pretending to be something they know or trust, such as a well known bank, online store, or
government organization. The attackers do not have a specific target in mind nor do they now
exactly who will fall victim, they simply know the more phishing emails they send out, the more
people they can fool. Their goal is to trick people into providing the phishers with their private
information. 2015 saw an increase of 23% of users opening phishing messages and 11% of users
click on the attachment (Verizon, 2015). Further, phishing still remains as one of the top two
concerns that organizations have and the numbers are growing. Since 2014 phishing concerns by
the organizations have been increasing every year (Cyber Edge, 2016) and more money is put
invested in technological means. Many organizations use technical means such as filtering
messages, detection of fraudulent websites, and developing anti phishing warning systems

1.What are the major factors one must consider when going global? As we all know, global trade
is no easy, companies cannot just ship their products to another country and sell it in the foreign
market, there are many factors need to be considered and analysis. In my point of view, the factor
can be separate into internal and external factors. Internal factor: Does the product sell well in the
home country? If the product is not doing good in the home country, why we should try to go

government is another part the CEO needs to think about it, some government will stop or against

Garden Temptation, And Wrong Resolutions In The Bible
In Genesis, one learns how God created the earth, and tried to keep is as peaceful and pure as
possible. God faced many challenges in doing so, all requiring different resolutions, whether this
meant destroying cities, or banning Adam and Eve from Eden. Based on the constant display of
human weakness, apparent in many stories in the Bible, one can conclude humans are
constitutionally born flawed. Mankind has time and time again angered the Lord through acts of
disobedience, temptation, and jealousy.
When a human sees a task as unaccomplishable, there is an inexplicable drive to disobey, causing
humanity to be punished. The bible references disobedience many times, which can lead to unideal
situations for the individual. Eve was in the Garden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

pillar of salt (Genesis.19.26). Lot s wife was tempted to turn around, even though she was the
purest person in the city. This story goes to show that temptation is inevitable for every person.
Esau was Isaac s favorite son, so when Isaac was dying, he wanted to give Esau his last blessing.
Isaac s wife overheard, and told Jacob to put skin in his hands to make his blind father think he,
Jacob, was Esau. That night Jacob stole Esau s blessing. Jacob went near unto Isaac, his father; and
felt him, and said, the voice is Jacob s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau (Genesis.27.22).
When one is upset about not getting something, there is a temptation to lie and sin. Temptation
leads humankind to do immoral things, and go against what the Lord has

The Character of Falstaff in Henry IV Essay
The Character of Falstaff in Henry IV
None of Shakespeare s plays are read more than the first and second parts of Henry IV.
Particularly in Henry IV Part I, Shakespeare writes chronologically historical and interesting to
follow events. The reader follows the chain of events with devotion and content eager to find out
what happens next. Even though the hero of the play is Prince Henry, or Hal as we know him, the
reader may find themselves more focused on Falstaff, one of the other major characters that
Shakespeare created for comical relief. He was a witty, self conscious, self centered companion of
the Prince. King Henry even criticized his eldest son for keeping company with such a low man.
Even though Hal is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prince Hal was the hero of the play, but Falstaff was the character to follow. (Johnson 235)
Hal s opposite was a peer to him, the younger of the Percy s Hotspur. Shakespeare properly
named this character Hotspur for he was indeed a character with a hot temper and passionate ideas
and actions. He longed for a one on one match with the Prince, which he did get at the end of the
play. Unfortunately for himself, he lost it and was eventually eliminated. Yet I would have to agree
with Johnson once again that Falstaff received the center attention of the reader.( Johnson 235 )
Sir John, or as he was commonly known in the play as Falstaff, was a knight to the King Henry.
He was a man of large proportions, indulging into the sweet things in life. He was a man of low
morale, as Johnson had noted in his essay. He was a coward and the viewer got to see that in the
robbery scene that was aforementioned above. He cared for nothing in life but to satisfy his
needs. He preyed upon the poor, he was always ready to cheat and lie. Yet we have grown an
attachment to him, for he is a character that we learn to like. Michael Goldman highlighted that
point in his Shakespeare and the Energies of Drama. When at the end of the Boar s Head Tavern
scene, when the viewer learns that the Sheriff is outside looking for the robbers, Prince Hal
defends the fat knight. However, we find Falstaff soundly asleep behind an array. This scene

Jonbenet Ramsey Murder
Computed over a seventy five year life span, this equates to a one in two hundred chance of
being murdered at some point in an Americans life span (Ghiglieri, 1999). Boulder, Colorado is
more dangerous murders than the six cities around it (city data.com, 2017) When considering the
motives, the lack of presence, and crime scene it is clear Burke Ramsey, Patsy Ramsey, and John
Ramsey committed and covered up the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. Burke had plenty of motives
that led to killing his sister JonBenet Ramsey. In fact, Burke made it clear that he was jealous of
his sister getting all the attention from their parents. Their dad was always busy with work and
their mom was always busy with JonBenet s career (The Forensic outreach,... Show more content on

In addition, Patsy and John would do anything for their son even if he committed a crime they
would still help him get away with it. While testing samples of the Ramsey s handwriting John
and Burke were ruled out for writing the ransom note but, Patsy was never ruled out,
professionals found about two hundred similarities between the note and her handwriting, she
also changed her handwriting several times (A E television networks, 2016). Someone would
not need to change their handwriting so many times unless they had something to hide.
However, maybe the reason the crime was never solved was because Patsy had more
information. Patsy died of ovarian cancer on June twenty forth, two thousand six ; in the middle
of the investigation (A E television network, 2016). They did not question her enough before she
died maybe she had the answers or more information. To add, Patsy knew there was more
information needed to be gathered in the house. Patsy agreed to not let investigators proceed to
gather DNA and information in the house after a few days of investigating (Ryan Gajauski,
2016). Would she not want all the information needed to find out who killed her daughter? For
example, if someone just found out their child died they would not know where the child s body
was right away. John Ramsey suspiciously knew exactly where JonBenet s body was when

Mirrors And Mirrors Essay
Mirrors and glasses are wonderful exponents to reveal the glory of the house and its owners. If they
are clean, then it indicates the people in the house take care of things and if they are tarnished, it
indicates that the people in the house lack discipline or doesn t bother about maintaining a neat
environment. Unfortunately, not every technique can be used to clean the glassor mirrorsituated in
different places. For instance, the cleaning method for champagne glasses differs from that of a
bathroom mirror. This is not understood by many and they end up with unattractive mirrors. Below
are some of the methods suitable for cleaning different mirrors and glasses:
Cleaning a Television

Wipe the monitor with the help of a dry antistatic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cleaning a bathroom mirror or any other mirror
For mirrors that are relatively new or considerably clean, wiping the surface with a cloth dipped
in warm water and re wiping the surface with a dry cloth is sufficient for maintenance.
The best way to clean a mirror is with the help of a microfiber cloth or the use of cotton swabs
which assure the prevention of scratches.
Prepare a mixture of white vinegar and water in a bowl (1:2) and add the solution to a spray
bottle.
Spray the solution on the mirror and let it work on the dust for a couple of minutes. But, do not
let the solution dry.
Use the microfiber cloth or cotton swabs to rub the solution and all the stains or dust will come
along with the cloth.
All the methods mentioned here are safe and time tested to work wonders on glasses and mirrors.
However, one has to use them appropriately and mixing the methods can derive mixed results. So,
carefully understand the unique methods appropriate for different conditions and enjoy the glorious
shine of those mirrors and glasses in the house

Legitimacy Of Courts During The Judicial System
Legitimacy of courts has long been an important factor in the judicial system. However, a more
recent concern has been diversity. It is becoming increasingly important for the court to represent
those who it serves. The ECJ s composition remains unreflective of the millions of black and
migrant European Union citizens whom it serves . Judgements of both the domestic courts of
England and Wales along with the European Court of Justice, affect the everyday lives of all EU
citizens including those of minority and underrepresented groups. Outcomes should not be
influenced by considerations of political or financial consequences . Independence is important as it
is vital that each judgeis able to decide cases solely on the evidence presented to them by the parties
in court. Personal independence is always necessary to ensure that the judiciary as a whole of both
the land or the community remains independent. In order for the courts to be fully independent,
they must represent the diversity of the people and make decisions in accordance with the law with
no other influences. With the growing influence of the government over the last century it has
become increasingly important that the judiciary fulfils its responsibility to protect the public
against unlawful acts of the government. What has therefore also become increasingly more
important is the need for the judiciary to be completely independent from the government. The
evidence suggests that the courts nowadays are not

The longbow is a 6 foot long stick with string attached to either side of the stick. It can fire projectiles called arrows at high speeds. The longbow was very advanced for its time. • 3. Charley s Analysis In contrast to the Thunder Bay area in Canada, Duluth obtained rail service a decade prior to Charley s trek, which initiated a flurry of economic activity. • 4. Rhetorical Analysis Of Staying By Scott Russell Sanders In the passage from Staying: Making a home in a restless world, Scott Russell Sanders responds to an essay by Salman Rushdie, a writer who left his native India for England. To develop his perspective about moving, Sanders uses a variety of rhetorical strategies. Scott Russell Sanders introduces his viewpoint by saying: In the newspaper I read that, even though our sprawling system of interstate highways is crumbling, the president has decided that we should triple it in size, and all without raising our taxes a nickel. Only a populace drunk on driving, a populace infatuated with the myth of the open road, could hear such a proposal without hooting (lines 20 26). Thus, he evokes the support of his idea that moving is unreasonable and illogical within the reader. (lines 40 43) Sanders uses rhetorical questions to show reader that nationalism may be lost when people move, but the greater aspects of a country may be lost as well. With this said, the author includes historical references to verify his claim that many of the worst abuses have been carried out by people who root themselves in ideas rather than places . As the remaining two bonds are BB and CCC, both have noticeably high yield to maturity percentages. In my observation, As the bond credit rating decreases, the yield to maturity percentage increases. The higher the yield, the more likely it is that the firm issuing the bondis not of high quality.(High/low yield bonds, 2006) Coupon rate and the yield to maturity determine trade at a discount, premium, par. Pertaining to the bonds in my valuation, the coupon rates and yield to maturity is established in such a way to influence bond perception. Premium sale of bonds are due to the coupon rate being established above the prevailing interest rate. Investors bid up the price in order to receive the benefit of a higher coupon rate. In a result, as the coupon rate attracts investors they are more willing to pay a premium for the bond. Once the bond matures, the investor will have received the stated coupon rate, but because of the increased initial payment for the bond the yield to maturity is lower over the life of the bond (Premium bond, 2003). Yield to maturity, market value of the bonds if the time to maturity was increased decreased by 5 years? As a bonds time to maturity increases, so does its yield to maturity. This is due to the issuer having the obligation to pay its coupon rates for an extended period of time. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This implies that it follows the example of the classic Greek tragedies, Roman tragedies and Shakespearian and Jacobean tragedy. There are, however, subtle but vital differences between these forms. Aristotle s classic view of tragedy saw the form as one which only properly deals with the fate of gods, kings and heroes. In the twentieth century, such a restricted definition would consign tragedy to the waste bin of literary history. All the essential details of his childhood, his life away from Linda and his sons and the mainsprings of his character are revealed so gradually that they are easily absorbed and understood. We are left in no doubt as to what is fact and what is fantasy in the frequent re enactments. The audience sees Willy s own accounts being neatly balanced by those of other characters. Miller s almost kaleidoscopic approach allows us to believe in, and be engaged by, the tragedy that unfolds in a way that would be difficult in a more traditional dramatic presentation. A straightforwardly chronological account would be both less interesting and less revealing than the juxtaposition of scenes Miller gives us. It is often the sidelights thrown on events by seeing them re enacted and hearing Willy draw conclusions from them that enables us to gain a clear picture of what happens. It s widely known for the performance of Day Lewis who plays Daniel Plainview, the cinematography, and the screenplay. Set in the early 1900s the plot follows a wealth driven man whose goal is to take over the oil industry with his oil drilling company. Daniel Plainview and his company surveys land for oil and once found they offer the landowners signing bonuses and royalties to build on their property. In the beginning, Daniel is approached by a man who claims to have a significant amount of oil under his families grounds. From here on the film, There Will Be Blood, exhibits a story of a road to riches that both creates and destroys the future. There Will Be Blood displays all the elements of artistic form discussed in class. First, the plot and characters. The plot is of a man whose mission is wealth while along the way he s met with religious problems, family issues, and more. The writers also perfectly executed their cast of characters for the plot. For example, Eli Sunday, played by Paul Dano. Eli gave a sense of hope and kindness in film through his religious beliefs and goals of helping others. This was a nice contrast to the violence and greed that Daniel and his company brought along. Another critical character to the plot was H.W., Daniel s non biological son. H.W., played by Dillon Freasier, was an important addition to the conflicts that arise for Daniel. Specifically, Daniel is met ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is it the endless mountain ranges covered with snow, or could it be the frigid temperatures? The state of Alaska has mountains as far as the eye can see. If you have ever climbed to the top of a mountain, you know how exciting it can be once you have reached the top. Especially, when it is your first experience climbingthe face of any mountain and you do not know what to expect. As a child, my memory recalls the first time I was pretending to scale towering mountain sides to impress my friends and family. Playing in the foothills, I would try to imagine myself scaling one of the greatest mountains on the planet. Nearly twenty five years have come to pass, and I still seek mountain ranges to explore. Aside from the author s purpose of Jonah, the book s purpose for the individual depends on the view on its nature and on a person s exegesis (Gaebelein, Jonah Section) (a personal, educated, critical interpretation). There is still much argument over whether the book of Jonahis historical or parabolic. The parabolic view faces numerous difficulties. For example, historical references in the Biblesuch as 2 Kings 14:25 ( BibleGateway. Quick Search: Jonah. N.p., n.d. The historical notion is greatly supported because God Himself referred to the book of Jonah as historical (see Matthew 12:38 41, Luke 11:29 30, 32). On the parabolic side, there is a main argument against Jonah being historical. It is the impossibility of Jonah surviving in the whale s stomach for three days and three nights (See Jonah 1:17). This argument has flaws. There are instances that display that a person could survive in this environment (stranger occurrences have happened in our time). Plus, they were of brief periods of time. On the other hand, multiple explanations have been stated as to how it could have happened with little inconvenience for Jonah, but these cannot be stated with certainty. (Gaebelein, Jonah Section) Since the whale incident is very generalized, personal interpretations should not come into play. As a note, parabolic interpretations can be categorized as both personal interpretations and spiritual interpretations that teach moral lessons. I didn t want a design that felt the need to scream loudly. I felt the site was frightened with so much history, anything we say here is amplified a thousand fold. The project that Arad had in mind was no easy feat, it took roughly 6 years to complete due to numerous architectural obstacles that the workers had to conquer. This mechanical marvel is able to send water from the bottom of the waterfall back to the top at an astonishing rate of 24,000 gallons per minute. However, gusts of wind cause turbulence on top of the water so the engineers needed to create a system that is not only strong, but also able to variate the power given to these pumps in order to maintain that serene aesthetic look of the water smoothly flowing down the waterfall. This mechanical marvel also boasts filters to take sediment out, UV lights to kill bacteria, and chemical additives to prevent the water from becoming polluted.
