Nuclear Weapons In North Korea Research Paper
Nuclear Weapons in North Korea
What comes to mind when the word nuclear has been mentioned? Many people
would think of nuclear power from the solar system. Nuclear Weapons are bombs or
missiles like figure that uses nuclear energy to cause an explosion. Why would
someone want to make a weapon of mass destruction? There are many reasons to
answer that question like it can more tension around the world. The solution to the
Nuclear Weapons in North Koreais to make a compromise because it will give North
Korea a chance to tell their allies why they started the nuclear program, they can
settle an agreement to make a new peace treaty and it may be able to reduce the
amount of nuclear weapon usage.
1910 1940
In 1910, the Chosun Dynasty ended North Korea from being colonized by Japan.
Which indeed was a brutal and terrible experience for anyone who had ever lived
through that moment of time (History of North Korea). Later, the Soviet Union and
the United Stated had agreed to the separation of the Korean peninsula between
them. So the U.S. and the Soviet Union drew a line on the 38 attitude line to make

By having a meeting to settle out the conflicts that other countries have with North
Korea. In doing that North Korea can testify on why they made nuclear weapons
and what they was determined to do with it. Also, we can influence North Korea to
reduce or even throw away all of their nuclear components. I combined what others
tried to do which didn t work. I believe my solution will work because it will give
North Korea to step up to the plate and explain their reasoning on this issue. In
addition, it won t cause any commotion to influence another World War series. Other

Kant And Jean Jacques Rousseau
Public discourse has commonly been known as the communication of diverse claims
between the public backed by reason and substantive argument. This exchanging of
views often happens between both those who agree with one s sentiment and those
who disagree. Since the beginning of civilization, humans have been given the
responsibility of finding a reasonable outcome at the end of an argument with
somebody of opposing views. Through deliberation, both sides of the argument
articulate their reasoning for their views and attempt to find such reasonable
outcomes. At times, a middle ground is unattainable between the two and tension
grows. At this point, distinct guidelines need to be set in regards to the extent in
which individuals can exert... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each person has their personal role in maintaining the common good for those around
them and thus should fulfill it. He believed that fulfilling this task and contributing to
society would create happiness for the individual which would overcome self interest.
If those who pursued their personal interests rather than those of the common good,
then they would be seen as selfish and face consequences.
Rousseau believed that each person obtains a natural repugnance to seeing any
sentient being, especially our fellow man, perish or suffer, (DeLue and Dale 190)
and that this only changes due to pity and selfishness. Rousseau did not take
kindly to those who were seen as selfish and following self interest. He stated that a
society can banish him [a person who violates citizen norms] not for being impious
but unsociable, for being incapable of sincerely loving the laws and justice, and of
sacrificing his life, if necessary, for his duty, (DeLue and Dale 202). For those who
do not pursue the concept of the common good and question the way of society, they
are subject to be removed. A society in which people contest the civic norm is not
one acceptable to Rousseau.
Counter to Jean Jacques Rousseau, Immanuel Kant believed that people should be
entitled to individual freedom and personal interests. Kant aligned with enlightenment
thinkers Locke and Hobbes and was an advocate for rights protecting intellectual
freedom. Kant believed that a civil society required
The Poetry of Walt Whitman Essay
Walt Whitman is considered by many to be one of the greatest poets of the
nineteenth century. Whitman grew up in New York and was a member of a large
family, having eight siblings. Only four of these siblings lived to adulthood. His
father was an alcoholic, which led to Whitman becoming more like a father figure
than a brother to his siblings. Whitman quit school at the age of eleven. He then
worked as a journalist, as a carpenter, as a teacher, and as an editor before focusing
on poetry. Whitman is most well known for his book of poems, Leaves of Grass.
Whitman could not find a publisher interested in his poems; therefore, he published
them himself. Whitman rereleased this collection of poems several times, each time

Whitman deplored slavery and was even fired from his job as an editor for his
outspoken views on the subject. Whitman saw Lincoln as someone who wanted to
put an end to slavery and as someone who would put his words into action.
Whitman took a great interest in The Civil War. His brother served in the war and
Whitman volunteered as a nurse at an army hospital in Washington, D.C., where he
dressed the wounds of injured soldiers, as well as read to them, and wrote letters
for them to their families. Whitman gave lectures on President Lincoln almost up
until his own death. Whitman was greatly disturbed by the assassination of
President Lincoln and wrote these poems as a tribute to him. The most popular and
the most analyzed of these poems is When Lilacs Last in the DoorYard Bloom d.
Laurie Lanzen writes, this is a poem whose rich and sacred beauty and rapture of
tender religious passion leave it unique and solitary in literature, and will make it the
chosen and immortal hymn of death forever (Lanzen, 544 ). Even though Whitman
never mentions President Lincoln by name in the poem, according to
whitmanarchive.org, this poem was published in the fourth edition of Leaves of
Grass in 1867 under the heading President Lincoln s Burial Hymn
(whitmanarchive.org). This has come to be considered as one of the best poems ever
written by Whitman. When Lilacs Last in the
Observation Of Migrant Mother
Make observations:
The migrant mother is in the foreground of the image, while her children are in the
background of the image. The migrant mother is the major element in this image,
while the children are the minor elements are the children. The mother is staring out
in the distance, and appears to have a concerned expression on her face. She is
worried, and her clothes are ragged. There are three children in this image: two of
them near her shoulders, and another in her lap. It appears that the child in her lap is
an infant, and was born somewhat recently.
Connect the observations:
In 1936, the Dust Bowl was occurring in the United States. The Dust Bowl was a
series of dust storms that destroyed lives, and forced many citizens in the Midwest
to relocate to California. According to Lange, this image was taken in California. It
is possible that the mother and her children have been displaced from their homes,
and are escaping to California looking for work. However, finding work in
California was often a fruitless effort. There was typically little to no work for
migrants, which could be a source of stress for the migrant mother. She has three
children, but she is most likely unable to feed them. This is further supported by the
state of her clothes and her children s clothes. They are tattered, which indicates there
is not enough money to buy new clothes.
Draw inferences from the related observations:
A possible interpretation of this situation is that the woman has recently migrated
from the Midwest, and is struggling to provide for her family. She is in a difficult
situation, because she loves her children but is unable to provide them with an ideal
lifestyle. Their faces are covered in dust, and the mother is wearing an expression of
hopelessness. The tone of this image is one of hopelessness, the underlying emotion
common in almost all the Okies at the time. The hardships have worn the migrant
mother down, and she is struggling to survive with her three children. There are no
other family members present in the image, suggesting that she is the sole provider
and sole source of income for her family.
Form a tentative interpretative conclusion:
By depicting the facial expression of the woman and her
Learning To Read And Write By Frederick Douglass And...
Learning a new set of skills can be off putting and come with many difficult
challenges. In the excerpt, Learning to Read and Write by Frederick Douglass and
Learning to Read by Malcolm X it discusses each mans challenges to be literate as
black men in America. Though set almost half a century apart, hardships occur as
both strive for greatness. Through their use of diction, details, and language each
speaker differentiates themselves from each other and forms their own unique way
of sharing their story. In the two excerpts the two men use diction to expose their
character and evoke emotions in the reader. Frederick Douglass describes his first
challenge, when abandoned by his mistress s teachings and he has to come up with
ways to become familiar with reading. The plan which I adopted, and the by which I
was most successful, was that of making friends with all the little white boys whom I
met in the streets . BY choosing to say this Douglass then makes himself seen like a
strong independent man. When things get tough he doesn t give up he simply finds
another way to get it done and that is impressive. While Douglass uses diction to
empower himself Malcolm X uses diction to lower his ego and describe himself
before learning to read, In the street, I had been the most articulate hustler out there I
had commanded attention when I said something. But now trying to write simple
English I not only wasn t articulate, I wasn t even functional . BY sharing this specific
Refuting Thomas Hobbes Essay
In order for Hobbes to promote the necessity of a governing sovereign, it is
paramount that he dismisses any objection against his argument. During his
argument, Hobbes introduces a sceptic view of his third law of nature. If Hobbes
is unable to dismiss this view, his third law of nature will not stand, and conversely
his argument will fall. I argue that although Hobbes is unable to sufficiently dismiss
the sceptic s challenge in its entirety, Hobbes is able to defend his third law of
nature, and therefore maintain the necessity of a governing sovereign. In order to
prove this, I will first outline and elaborate the significance of Hobbes third law of
nature. Then I will illustrate the challenge posed against Hobbes third law of... Show

The fool suggests that sometimes there are cases when it is in one s best interest
not to fulfil their end of a covenant. The fool s scepticism challenges Hobbes to find
an answer as to why it is always in one s best interest to keep one s promises,
namely, one s end of a covenant. The fool s argument rest on the premise that one s
actions should always benefit him, which entails that sometimes there are cases
when it is rational to act against what Hobbes defines as a natural law, a natural
law that is indispensable for Hobbes theory to move forward. In response to the
fool s challenge, Hobbes distinguishes and dismisses between four possible
scenarios in which the fool s argument is applicable. I will first distinguish the four
scenario s, which I label as: (1), (2), (3), and (4), then I will outline how Hobbes
dismisses each scenario. And finally, I will argue whether Hobbes is able to
provide sufficient grounds to dismiss each scenario. The scenario s are: (1) acting
first in the state of nature, (2) acting first in a governed society, (3) acting second in
the state of nature, and (4) acting second in a governed society. Hobbes forfeits (1) to
the fool because he agrees that it would not be rational to act first in the state of
nature. There are no guarantees that the second party will not renege in the state of
nature. Further,
How Did Louis Pasteur Contribute To Society
Many people wonder who made a more significant contribution to society,Marie
Curie or Louis Pasteur. Well, i m here to voice my opinion to you all. Marie Curie
was an spectacular at her studies when she was younger. Being born in Poland,
opportunities for studies were limited so she went to Paris. After working as a
governess, she studied in Sorbonne, Paris. She struggled to learn in French, so she
studied more and more. She eventually got a degree in physics and finished at the
top of her school. After that she got a degree in math. In Paris, she met Pierre Curie
who was the chief of a laboratory. He was a renowned chemist. Pierre liked young
Marie and asked her to marry him. He sure had to beg and finally, she relented. She
discovered two elements in her studies radium and polonium. Radium made x rays,
which helped in world war 1 and are still used today. Marie later died from cancer

Louis Pasteur had the most significant contributions to society because if it was not

Stephen Vail Making A Murderer Analysis
Throughout history there have been problems with wrongful and unlawful
convictions in the United States. It is extremely difficult to find statistics that are
accurate in this regard due to lack of reported or documented information. Most of the
time, the victims of wrongful and unlawful conviction are minorities or the indigent.
It is the job of the United States justice system to protect the rights and equality of all
citizens.
Stephen Avery was convicted of a crimehe did not commit. After serving 18 years,
he was found innocent and released. The series Making a Murderer portrays Avery
as a victim but as you will see in my findings, he is not. During his release he
decided to sue the county $36 million for the false conviction. While Avery is
fighting his case, Teresa Halbach comes up missing and is found brutally
murdered. The police charge Avery and his cousin with the murder sentencing them
to life in prison. This is the story and facts from the trial showing the problem with
police corruption as well as the deviance and trickery of a criminal. Stephen Avery
had been in the police eyes since 1984 when he sexually assaulted his cousin (a
sheriff s wife) on the beach. Therefore, when a female jogger ... Show more content

My biggest concern was the way Brendan was setup by his lawyer to be guilty
before all the facts were even on the table. Regardless of whether or not you believe
Stephen Avery and Brendan Dassey are guilty or innocent, any person can see
major flaws in our legal system. Evidence was surely planted to ensure the
conviction and while I believe that Avery deserves to spend the rest of his life in
prison, I do not believe the same of Dassey as he is a teenager with the mentality of a
child. Dassey would have done anything he was told by almost anyone. Avery took
advantage of Dassey as he did everyone else in his
Standardized Test Scores
According to a recent study on high school student ACT scores, only about 25
percent of students performed well enough to be considered ready for college (O
Shaughnessy). In our country today, education has been limited to the test taking
abilities and time management skills needed to perform well on standardized tests.
Our educators are told to teach in a way that increases a student s ability to take tests
well, instead of improving creativity or focusing on a student s strengths in the
classroom. Students then perceive that, because they are being educated solely to do
well on this one test, they must make a good score on the ACT or SAT for them to be
successful in college and future careers. This situation causes anxiety for both
students,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The many scholarships that colleges give out today (sarcasm) are mostly awarded to
the students who perform well on one day over students who perform well
throughout their entire high school careers. How is this fair? Students should be
awarded scholarships based on the four years that they spent in their classrooms and
extracurricular activities, not by the 175 minutes that they are in a testing room
where they may or may not be sleep deprived, hungry, and anxious.
Students and educators today are pressured to prepare and conquer standardized
testing, but are they truly teaching and learning valuable material when they are
mostly talking about test taking skills? I believe that instead of focusing on
standardized testing, our schools should be focusing on developing the students in
our education system to become the best students and citizens that they can be in the
future by allowing those students to show every part of their education to college
administrators and employers instead of just defining them by one number that they
achieve on one day of their
Essay on The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien Don t judge a book by its cover. This famous phrase
can very well be applied to the hobbit a small human like creature that goes along
with 13 dwarves and a wizard. The wizard, Gandalf, has total faith in the little
hobbit knowing full well that when the time comes he will serve the dwarves quite
well. He does this with the help of a ring that makes him invisible. He saves the
dwarves from evil spiders that wish to eat them. Uses it to help them escape the
clutches of elves that would keep them in their clutches for some time. And to find
out the weakness of an evil dragon bent on destroying all those opposing him. Our

After which he puts on his ring of invisibility and taunts the spiders into following
him away from his friends. He then doubles back and cuts his friends out of their
respective webs. After that there is a long battle the spiders venom had weakened
the dwarves almost to a point that they couldn t stand. So Bilbo had to do most of
the fighting. He saved his friends. They get away and all live happily ever after
#8230; right? No there will be more danger this is only the beginning. After all of
Bilbo s friends are saved elves capture them. It is a good thing Bilbo has his ring
on. He follows the elves and gets into the place in which they are captured. He then
hatches a plan to save them. He has to steal a key when there is a large banquet
happening so as most of the elves are busy, then he must release his friends and
stow them away in barrels that are to be sent down the river having been used.
Now this sounds like a difficult task but not for our friend Bilbo who is very adept
at getting out of tight situations. He releases his friends much to all the elves
dismay. Then after all the trouble you would think the rest to be a walk in the park.
It is just not that easy. Now they must face a dragon, to claim the treasure they were
after from the beginning. Bilbo goes into the dragon s cave silently and invisibly but
the dragon has an astute sense of smell! Bilbo has been caught. However not
completely caught because the dragon can still not

Marketing professionals have questioned whether WestJet s roots as a leisure
carrier and its reputation for subjecting passengers to groan eliciting jokes and
skits sits well with the corporate crowd. This marketing approach may not serve
the company well as it attempts to expand into new markets and the company may
need to revisit this marketing strategy. The Calgary carrier has been stunted in
recent years by the troubles it has faced implementing a new reservation system
(SabreSonic). This caused the delay of new frequent flyer program and delayed the
launching its new credit card loyalty program. While West Jet tickets can be
purchased with Air miles, rewards can no longer be redeemed by travelling on the
airline. The airline s current Open Skies system lacks the functionality it will need to
allow for such things as forging code share with other carriers. Threats: Threats are
external unfavourable factors that can potentially affect the success of the company
in a negative manner. WestJet is either currently or has previously encountered the
following threats. H1N1 Flu Virus: The threat and the spread of the Swine Flu virus
and other viruses has had a negative effect on the airline and travel industry in

originated from, but also negatively affecting other destinations

Chapter 4 Describe the impact on users of migrating from a small single server
based network to a directory based network with multiple servers in different roles.
Also describe the impact on network designers and administrators.
When you have a single server, users will have to login to their local machines via a
local account. Any data that they would need access to on the network will need to be
authenticated via a set of credentials on the server itself. The user in this case will be
using two different set of credentials to access all of their data. When you move into
a directory based network with multiple servers in different roles, things become very
easy for both the users and the administrators. The administrators will need to connect
each computer to the domain that way the computer will become trusted and the
user accounts will be able to be authenticated by the domain controller. Both the
local computer logins as well as access to all of the data on each and every server will
be the same and configured from just one location. This makes it easier for the ...

When you are dealing with both a Windows 2000 server and a NetWare server you

How Analytics Helps An Organization Optimize Their...
Analytics is defined, according to online behavior.com, as the process of obtaining
an optimal or realistic decision based on existing data. [1]. Davenport and Harris
(2007), defined analytics, as the extensive use of data, statistical and quantitative
analysis, explanatory and predictive models, and fact based management to drive
decisions and actions. [2]. An article titled Outsmart the Competition by Jackie Zack
in Teradata Online magazine states that analytics can help an organization optimize
their business processes to make them effective as possible. [3]. It is a proven fact
that proper use of analytics can lead an organizations to success, providing them with
that distinctive advantage over their competitors. In this essay, details will be

Heredity In Ancient Rome
The Ancient Romans of the later empire claimed to be an Republic, this means that
they were said to be a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their
elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a
monarch. In reality this is only somewhat true in ancient Rome. The truth is that if
you were a citizens you did have a say in the government, but the problem is only
the rich men had a true say in the way things were run. This brings up the question,
who are considered rich men? The army mostly makes up the men who fit this
description. This is why the Roman military played a major role in the election of
the later emperors in Ancient Rome because they made up a large majority of the
Roman citizens who are eligible to vote, this isn t fair to the rest of the people who
live in Rome because it is as if their vote doesn t exist.
The process of election varied greatly throughout the entirety of the Roman Empire.
The most common variation was heredity as said by J. B. Bury; From the very
beginning the principle of heredity was introduced directly. (6). Heredity is when the
current Emperor passes on his power to his heir. In these elections as said ... Show

Essay On The Protestant Reformation
The Protestant Reformation was the 16th century religious, political, intellectual and
cultural upheaval that splintered Catholic Europe, setting in place the structures and
beliefs that would define the continent in the modern era. To begin, the Protestant
Reformation began in reaction to the Catholic Church s rather corrupt practices. Prior
to the Reformation, the only major Christian denomination in Western Europe at the
time was Catholicism, headed by the Pope in Rome. Through many acts of violence
such as the formation of the Spanish Inquisition and the slaughter of the Cathars,
amongst others, Europe s Monarchs had wiped out and suppressed any form of
religious competition. With the Catholic Church holding a tight stranglehold over
Europe, Catholicism was the only option. This allowed... Show more content on

This period of fighting saw massacres of Huguenots (French Protestants) by the
Catholic monarchs of France, most prominently during the St. Bartholomew s Day
Massacre of 1572 (where almost 30,000 French Protestants were killed across
France in targeted assassinations and mob beatings). Eventually the wars would
culminate with the Edict of Nantes in 1598, a treaty issued and signed by King
Henry IV of France, who had converted from Protestantism to Catholicism and called
for general tolerance. England, too, experienced political upheaval. When King
Edward VII died in 1553, Protestant ministers sought to prevent his Catholic sister
Mary I from succeeding him, and so crowned his cousin, Lady Jane Grey. Nine days
later, however, Mary and her supporters gained power and Jane was executed. Mary
sought to re establish Catholicism through the executions of many Protestants, giving
her the infamous title of Bloody Mary. In 1558 her Protestant sister Elizabeth would
succeed her, and Protestantism and stability would return to
My Class Of Third Grade Children
CHILD FACTORS Goal Perception For my class of third grade children I believe
that their ability of goal perception and acceptance will vary greatly. For the eight
students who are relatively free of learning disabilities and behavioral problems will
be able to self perceive and understand the goals at hand. They will not only be able
to comprehend the goals, but they will most likely Bye Into the goal resulting in him
/her putting in maximum effort and energy to achieve the goal him/herself. These
students will keep powerdemand generally low. As for the remaining twenty students
who have a variety of learning and behavioral problems, understanding and accepting
the goals as their own will prove to be much more difficult. These... Show more

Sense of Autonomy and Autonomy Regulation I can predict a variety of levels in
respect to a Sense of Autonomy and Autonomy Regulation for my students. For
the eight children with the potential of being compliant and well behaved in my
classroom are more likely to have a healthy sense of autonomy and accept the
power sharing needed to accomplish the goal. We will also have the ideal
relationship for mutual regulation, with little effort. For the majority of the
children, they will have a less sense of healthy autonomy. These children will
connive for equal power shared between him/her and myself. Time will be wasted
here and more effort will be needed to achieve a zero sum game. Lastly, the group
of children with behavioral issues will most likely have an unhealthy sense of
autonomy and I will fail to accomplish my goals with them. I can estimate that power
demands will be high for this group of children in respect to a sense of autonomy and
autonomy regulation.
Self Regulation and Conscience The age of the children in my third grade
classroom varies from young eight year olds to upper ten year old children. Based
off of their ages I can estimate that the older ones will have a more developmentally
advanced form of self regulation. My older students will have the ability to regulate

Nicolas Copernicus Nicolas Copernicus 1473 1543 Physics February 8, 2000
Nicolas Copernicus Nicolas Copernicus 1473 1543 Copernicus was born in Poland
in 1473, he started his education at Cracow University. There he studied mathematics
and optics. From here he went to Italy, where he was appointed as a canon in the
cathedral of Frauenburg, where he spent a comfortable academic life studding.
Copernicushad some small hobbies while at the cathedral, he painted, and frequently
translated Greek poetry into Latin. One other hobby that just wasn t small enough to

know about his theory. On one hand he would cause a Nicolas Copernicus

most likely have been fired from the comfortable church position he had for many
years, and could ve given him a bad name. If it hadn t been for George Rheticus, a

implausible by the vast majority of his contemporaries, and by most astronomers and
natural philosophers of succeeding generations before the middle of the seventeenth
century. Its only defenders included Johannes Kepler (1571 1630) and Galileo

Analysis Of The Help By Kk Stockett
Sometimes the actions of one individual can enormously impact on how society
sees itself. 1960s based film The Help written by K. Stockett and directed by T.
Taylor tells a story about the life and social context of Jackson Mississippi in the
1900s. Stockett wrote with a purpose to inform and entertain through a message of
equality and self awareness. The target audience was influenced to think that a person
is a person who deserves respect and equality no matter their race, gender and or
beliefs. This powerful message was communicated from the point of view and
significance of the housemaid Aibileen Clark through intensive characterisation and a
unique script. Stockett and Taylor successfully explored the theme of justice and took
their audience on a journey to feel hatred and shame towards the white, but proudness
and joy for the African American women as their stories and generosity were released
into the Mississippi community.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Themes In The Yellow Birds By Kevin Powers
In the novel, The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers, several major themes and
illustrations present themselves throughout the storyline and strongly connect to
previous readings and films from class. The purpose of this book review will be to
identify these illustrations, explain why they are important, identify how these
themes are connected to previous materials, and then determine if a movie could
accurately represent the book. As such, I argue that this book illustrates ideas of the
lossof innocence, loss of faith in humanity, and dust symbolizing the war these
soldiers are fighting and how it consumes all. I will then further my argument by the
identification of themes such as neorealism, heroism, and PTSD. However, it is first
important to identify the special narrativestructure of the book, which is used to
create these illustrations and themes. The narrative structure that Kevin Powers uses
is the first person from Private Brandon Bartle s point of view. However, the
structure of the story doesn t follow a classical narrative, but instead follows an
alternative narrative where it bounces back and forth between Private Bartle s time
in Al Tafar, Iraq and when he is on leave at home in Richmond, Virginia (Corrigan,
2015). This narrative style allows various illustrations and themes to present
themselves with the first being the loss of innocence is the path to salvation in war.
This illustration is vital because it shows that because Bartle lost his innocence he

F. Kennedy. After his death, Lyndon B. Johnsoncontinued to pass the act. The Civil
Rights Act was enact in 1964. The Civil Rights Act outlawed discrimination based
on race, color, sex, religion, or national origin. The Act essentially banned
segregation in public places. The department of education was authorized to
integrate schools, and federal funds were denied to any discriminatory education
programs. In addition, the Civil Rights Act led to the creation of the Equal
Opportunity Employment Commission. It is a federal agency that is still present,
it enforces the civil rights laws against workplace discrimination. Most importantly,
the Civil Rights act finally enforces the 15th amendment passed in 1870, which
granted all men the right to vote regardless of race or color. The act enforced the
15th amendment by banning the unequal application of voting requirements, such
as the literacy test and poll taxes, which prevented many people from voting. The
Civil Rights Act was later expanded to provide assistance to seniors, the disabled,
and women in sports. It also paved the way for the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and
the Fair Housing Act of 1968. Under the Lyndon B. Johnson administration the
Civil Rights Act became a law, and it paved the way for equality of all Americans.
The legacy of the Civil Rights Act remains, and it helped with the decision of

Comparing Trudeau s Polyethnic Background And Culture
Canada s identity is tremendously challenging to delineate, due to encompassing a
vast population of various cultures, traditions, and values spanning an enormous
landmass. From various historical perspectives, Canadian identity has changed over
the course of the last century valuing discrete ideologies through various time
periods. Due to various government policies and acts, as well as reformed beliefs and
ideas regarding large social issues, Canadas identity has shifted and constantly
renewed its identity over the course of the past half century.
Major government policies and acts were headway into creating Canada s modern day
identity. The Immigration Act of 1976 changed Canada s perspective on immigration
eligibility, and majorly contributed towards structuring Canada s polyethnic
background and culture. Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau grew up in an extremely
discriminatory climate, and believed that Canada should inherit collective identity.

Compare And Contrast Egypt And Mexican Culture
The two cultures that I decided to compare and contrast is the Mexican culture and
ancient Egyptians. Mexicans have embraced death as a part of life. The Mayan

The Theory Of Sex Roles
Feminism has been and continues to be a controversial topic in today s society. It
has contributed to the study of sociology very important topics of gender and
sexuality. While many theories attempt to answer questions, it is impossible to
answer all. The world is so diverse that where you cover one area another is left
untouched. At the very least we can say we have come a long way from that of our
grandparents and parents. For this essay I will focus on the theory of sex roles.
Sex role theory is an individual approach to gender (Ryle, 30). Within this theory we
also have social roles which are a set of expectations attached to a particular status or
position (Ryle, 30). Sex roles are a set of expectations attached to a particular sex ...

When our boys come home from war what kind of girls will they be coming home

conjunction with this, there is a scene where they are shown the uniform they will be
wearing. A very pretty lady in a dress is then paraded in front of the team.
There are a couple of things I would like to point out. First and foremost it is a woman
making this statement. Most women during those times did not receive education.
They were domesticated women who stayed at home and performed all of the
activities of a house wife, unless you belonged to a specific position in society. If
you did received an education as a woman you were only offered certain jobs and
baseball for women was definitely not one of them. During this time this sport was
initiated because of the war as a way to make money. The women trying out for the
sport felt like they were great but their coach kept reminding them they were girls and
could not throw, because they did not have the same strength that of men. The ladies
were not taken as a serious team but more that of entertainment for the public. While
the men saw it as entertainment other women saw it as sexual confusion. It s also
interesting to see how women would think that careers and education could actually
affect their homes and children. I will call
Volleyball Is A Sport Essay
Volleyball is a sport that has been significantly gaining interest over the years with
many levels of volleyball being offered from the ages of nine through adulthood.
Many new players will begin in recreational leagues and learn the fundamentals.
After a few years, dedicated players will begin to make the switch to selective club
volleyballleagues for the advancement it provides. While all levels of volleyball
provide a strong basis for competition, club volleyball leagues far surpass
recreational volleyball leagues in terms of providing certified coaches, selecting
players of the highest caliber skill level, and the capability of recognition by college
scouts. A main distinction between club volleyball leagues and recreational volleyball
Descartes and the Mind Essay
The topic of the mind and how do we know has been around since the beginning of
time.
It is one of those questions that will most likely never be answered. I mean, the
mind itself is so perplexing that we are still learning stuff about it daily. One
question that Descartes proposed was how do we know? we still are pondering this
one today. We ask it almost every day, maybe not in that way but in some form or
another. So honestly, how do we know? Whenever Descartes started studying about
the mind he denounced all of his previous opinions and started fresh. He first stated
that knowledge is seen as a building in which all the superstructure is resting on a
foundation, and the building is only as strong as its foundation ... Show more content

So he began to ponder on how to prove that he truly did exist. He finally came up
with this: Thought exists; it alone cannot be separated from me. I am; I exist this is
certain. But for how long? For as long as I am thinking; for perhaps it could also
come to pass that if I were to cease all thinking I would then utterly cease to exist. At
this time I admit nothing that is not necessarily true. I am therefore precisely nothing
but a thinking thing; that is a mind, or intellect, or understanding, or reason words of
whose meanings I was previously ignorant. Yet I am a true thing and am truly
existing; but what kind of thing? I have said it already: a thinking thing (Meditation
II 31).
So in proving that he existed he also proved who he was or who we are. We are
thinking things things that can function as long as we think, but the moment that we
stop thinking is the moment that we no longer exist. So is that the moment we die?
Or is it something entirely different? So through this he proved that anything that he
cannot doubt then that is what he is. And whatever he can doubt, then he is not. He
now had the knowledge of knowing about himself of who and what he was.
But there was a problem with this, that even though one doubted something then it
could still be true. One could doubt that he/she won a race even though they did win.

Dystopian Literature Create Illusions
There is a quote that says, Be careful what you wish for because you might get it all
and then something you don t want . Dystopian Literature is a great example of this
scenario because it shows how perfect can sometimes be an illusion. I think
Dystopian Literature should be used in storytelling to give the reader an idea of what
places are really like instead of thinking that they are perfect, straight and narrow.
A dystopia is a futuristic and imagined universe in which oppressive societal control
and the illusion of a perfect society are maintained through corporate, bureaucratic,
technological, moral, or totalitarian control. There is a benefit or need for Dystopian
Literature because it shows how real life societies can create illusions
An Efficient Way Transmit Codes
Throughout time the need for an efficient way transmit codes were essential to
success, after World War I and into the start of World War II American forces was
running out of ideas for codes. The USA had always used the white s soldiers for
the code talkers because there were easy to train, and a abundance of them to
choose making them the practice choose for code talkers. Until Philip Johnston, he
was an initiator that worked for a Marine Corps program. As a kid and into his
teens he grew up on a Navajo reservation and his dad was a missionary. Whit all the
time that Johnston spent of the reservation he became familiar with the people and
their language. With the use of the Navajos it grained equality for Native
Americans which was not found in the late 1800 s, and soon it gained them a
greater respect by the whites into today s age. In the late 1800 s Indians were seen
through the eyes of the settlers as pests, people who occupy the land that rightfully
belonged to the whites. They were thought of as savages. However this was not
true, the Navajo Indians and many other tribes were only willing to fight for their
land, families and the property that they have inhabited for hundreds of years
(Robert A. Roessel, 1). In this time of lack of control, Navajos were overpowered
by Americans who were in position of authority and control. This is because
Americans lacked the understanding of the Navajo way, leading to be fatal for many
as they were being transferred, resigned,
Social, Political And Economic Implications Of Money
Throughout the course of this semester, we have examined the role of money in our
society and have been introduced to scholars and economists that have offered
rationale for the social, political and economic implications of money. One
overwhelming theme that has lingered throughout most of the readings and lectures
is the idea of inequality, particularly within the scope of the American economy.
While other economies such as China or India are labor based economies, I have
found that America s Capitalist economy is fueled by multiple facets racial
inequality. The moral argument against racial inequality under an economic lens is
simple yet, expected; when we deny opportunities for people of color in the same

Black men are being denied the chance of a full life with all of the rights; privileges
and opportunities of white men and similarly, the families/communities from which
they come from are also at a significant disadvantage. A National Bureau of
Research study found that Black families between 2004 2008 were 54% more likely
to be charged higher on their mortgage rates than white families. This fact alone
drives two main issues I will explore in this paper: the implications of socioeconomics
and how inequality drives the American economy through the lens of mortgage
lending.
One theorist I will use to explore these ideas of inequality is John Maynard
Keynes. Keynes argued that capitalism is a mere congery of possessors and
pursuers (Keynes 60) and he also asserted that economic output is only based on the
aggregate demand . Between 2004 2008, when Black families were getting charged
higher interest rates on their homes than white families with similar incomes, large
banks were pocketing millions of extra dollars from these families as many of the
rates today would have been considered sub prime rates .
This predatory act placed against people of color encouraged classism and as a result
led to negative socioeconomic outcomes moreover, the notion of white

The only pro of this solution would be that it would most likely help Mahoney with

amount of time that it will require for him to devote to the training process.

Themes Of Japan s Indigenous Religion
THEMES
Japan s indigenous religion is ShintЕЌ, and its customs are enmeshed in Japanese
culture. It is animistic, seeing gods and spirits in everything. This leads to a deep
respect for human harmony with the environment. Many Ghibli films contain jinja,
or shrines, and torii, or sacred gates, which are used to pay respect or give offerings
in ShintЕЌism. Ghibli films also contain kami, spirits that reside in all things.
Princess Mononoke is filled with a kami (Odell 28).
Other Japanese mythology is seen through Miyazaki films through spirits that have
the ability to transform their shape, such as the foxes and raccoons in Pom Poko.
Buddhism also influences Miyazaki films. Dragons derive from Buddhist legends
and are in Spirited Away. Buddhist statues are also seen in My Neighbor Totoro, and
Pom Poko (Odell 28). All of his movies contain variations of spirits, demons, or
fantastical creatures rooted in nature. There is a balance of empathy through his
human elements, but mystery in his fantasy elements.
One major theme that runs through all Miyazaki films is environmentalism, or how
mankind interacts with nature. This is closely linked with the ShintЕЌ ethic that sees
the environment as interconnected beings that deserve respect. In Princess
Mononoke, the center of the plot is focused on the conflict between humans
destroying the forest and the gods and spirits who are fighting back. In Ponyo, the
dumping of waste is almost her downfall right at the beginning of the movie

There are many choices of hardwood flooring for home owners. This is why it is
important that you choose the right type. Although there are varieties that are more
affordable, they may come with their own drawback. In this post, we discuss the
major types of hardwood flooring available, together with their advantages and
disadvantages so that you can make a wise choice when you go out to buy them.
Bamboo
In the strictest sense of the word, bamboo is a grass and not a wood. However, it is
mostly taken to be wood. The strands of bamboo are normally glued together so as
to create engineered planks or solid strips, just like it is with hardwood.
It has three grain patterns which are flat, woven and vertical. Flat grains tend to show
the plant s characteristics of intermittent growth nodes; woven types come with
sinewy patterns while vertical grains have closely packed strands that produce fine
grain appearance.
Pros
Bamboo is durable and tough.
Also, it is considered sustainable because the plant from which it is harvested can be
easily grown and regenerated.
Cons
Even being a natural material, there are some environmental concerns about the
adhesive used in its construction process (regarding toxicity).
Maple hardwood flooring
This can increase the beauty of any room. These floors are extremely durable.
Pros
Affordability: it is very affordable since it is largely available.
Great color: Maple flooring has warm hue and light color that can fit almost any
room.

What is communication? Communication Is when two or more people exchange or
express information, thoughts, feelings etc. by using sounds, signs, or behaviors.
Why do people communicate?
People communicate to find out how people are feeling, so if there are any
problems they can help them out and take them to the doctors if needed, in some
cases people communication just to have a catch up with a friend. A good example
of this within health and social would be if a person that spoke a different language
needed to go to the toilet you would have to communicate by using the right
translation book to understand what they are saying. There are many different types
to communicate which are; one to one, formal, and informal, between colleagues,
with other professionals, between professionals and service users, multi agency, multi
professional working I am now going to go into some detail about these different
types to communicate to each other within a social workers industry, I will be giving
examples throughout.

Down to Earth Cookies Your Mother Once Made Essay
Down to Earth Cookies Your Mother Once Made Joe and Ellis Cook were two
brothers who had made a decision in reproducing their mother s old recipe of down
to earth cookies, and with the growth and purchasing value added services their focus
of making high quality based cookies would become a success. Throughout the
processtheir focus on making their mother s cookies had shown a commitment on
their mother s behalf without using the preservatives or additional additives in
making the cookiedelicious. DEC produced a sufficient procedure that created value
with a focal point in delivering a soft moist cookie for the consumer s taste buds

productive cycle we see that the employee s were working on the development

of organizing the employee s in working together and making the requirements of

worked in a team oriented atmosphere and placed the cookies into the boxes

the boxes would be thoroughly sealed, labeled, and ready for shipment (Stevenson,

Free Association And Dream Analysis
Free Association is a central technique in psychoanalytic therapy. Free association is
where clients can vent and speak their mind to find closure. Free association can be
used with current clients because it gives the client the chance to open up about
other significant activities that can help resolve or lead to a solution for their
situation. For example, clients speak of wishes and fantasies of how they imagine
their life.
Dream Analysis also known as Dream Work. According to Corey, Dream analysis has
two levels of content: latent content and manifest content. Latent content is hiding
reality and the pain that can and will occur. Manifest Content is escaping the pain in
a dream (p. 80); believing that the client is a fantasy world and
Life Span Perspective In Prison
MEDIA CONCERN
The most frequently expressed concern that I focused were crime and justice, and
health and wellbeing and social policy. I encountered many concerns within the crime
and justice category. They were many news that alarmed and distressed me. One such
story was about inmates killing and injuring many employees while trying to escape
from the prison. This incident was planned and attempted by the inmates at Raleigh,
NC prison. While trying to escape, they killed a prison guard Justin Smith and a
vocational worker Veronica Darden. They had set fire at the prison to distract the
employees but it failed and only led to more casualties. According to the head of the
state s chief state employee union, the North Carolina prisons are understaffed, ...

Life span perspective is defined as the development that is lifelong, multidimensional,
multidirectional, plastic, multidisciplinary, and contextual; that it involves growth,
maintenance, and regulation; and that it is constructed through biological,
sociocultural, and individual factors working together.
The first story about the casualty caused by the inmates plot of escaping prison
shows the the multidimensional aspect of the life span perspective. With this
experience, each individual especially the inmates and those who were closely
affected by this incident will have a change in minds, bodies and emotions. This
experience will also affect the plasticity of inmates mainly regarding their
personality. They will more likely be more aggressive and violent because of the
failure of the escaping plan.
Second story about teen arrested for crime spree also contains multiple aspects of life
span perspective. One of the main development evident in the teens is contextual or
the historical one, especially normative history graded and age graded influence. The
way they were raised or the environment they were raised likely had a huge influence
on the teens and will continue to have an influence on them throughout their life.
Additionally the influence of peers is highly evident because this crime spree
involved 5 teens therefore they must have planned this
Compare And Differences Of Thomas Muclair And Stephen
Harper
The two Federal political parties that I chose to compare and contrast is Thomas
Muclair and Stephen Harper. Thomas Muclair is the NDP. Thomas Muclair is
French and tom is English. (Joanna Smith, 2015).I prefer to call Thomas because
it sounds better than tom. NDP stands for New Democratic Party. Stephen Harper
is the Conservative party. The political party that I agree with is NDP and the
political party that I disagree with is Conservative. The reason why I agree with
Thomas Muclair is that he s the right prime minister for Canada because he as PM
(Prime Minister) worked for the greatest man in history of NDP Jack Layton in 2007
(Mark Kennedy,2015),Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton supporting the NDP

65 years old is time that you should retire, not 67.If Stephen Harper win life will be
miserable for forever because he s going to mess up Canada and make it worse. We
need a proper Prime Minister for Canada . Stephen Harper is evil when he acts like
he care, but he doesn t at all. Do we need this prime minister make our life
miserable for rest of the life?. People don t realize what they re doing because they
don t understand who s right prime minster. Thomas Muclair trying to restore the
right retiring age and Stephen trying raise the retiring age. It s really interesting
though the NDP makes life happy, but the Conservatives are trying make life worse.
Stephen Harper needs to get out of chair and just quit because he has nothing to
really say much. Canada needs to improve more . To conclude my research report, I
would like to say that Thomas Muclair is the future prime Minister of Canada
because he has worked with Jack Layton, getting supported by Barack Obama and
Hillary Clinton and protecting the environment. Just imagine Thomas
The Characteristics Of The Native Americans
Introduction Humans in nature are curious and this leads into finding or creating
extraordinary things that may one day be value or question by many. As early
civilizations emerge, the beginning of many wonders were developed and with
great accuracy. Although there was a lack of technology, as we have today, one
wonders how some items may have been developed. The Native Americans are just
one particular example to analyze. Despite the lack of the tools we have today,
their artwork is impeccable and with great accuracy. Their art work and
constructions leave one to ponder on how those items were developed.
Furthermore, one can also wonder on how records were kept. The number system
that we have today was not available to them. Yet, they were able to have some
sense of counting. In addition, Native Americans placed importance on specific
numbers and this can be seen in both art and their activities. Patterns and Shapes
The need to create and construct goes far beyond what one can imagine. It is in
human nature to be curious and to develop or create based on the observations of
the world around us. In fact, shapes and patterns emerge in nature organically
(Rudman 2007). Native Americans development of geometric shapes is still a
mystery to many. Yet, by analyzing the world around us and trying to create based
on observations and creativity leads into our desire to mimic nature itself. Designs
and patterns on everyday life items were utilized by Native
Susan Eloise Hinton Life Essay
Susan Eloise Hinton, one of the world s most respected authors was born in Tulsa,
Oklahoma, on July 22, 1950. Also known as S.E Hinton, best known for her young
adult novels, especially The Outsiders. Antoine Wilson sbiography The Library of
Author Biographies: S.E Hinton highlights some of the problems Hinton endured
on her path to become one of the most influential authors in America. Growing up
in the 60 s wasn t necessarily the easiest time for a young woman to publish books.
While Hinton was growing up, women didn t have as many rights or opportunities
as they do today. Young women, and girls in particular, were expected to behave
according to a set of expectations established by society at that time. The 60 s,

Nicole Marcuccilli highlights in her review that the biography is informative and
easy to understand in her review. During Susan Eloise Hinton s childhood, many
factors influenced and sparked Hinton s fascination with writing, both as hobby
and as a way to escape her problems, but what inspired her the most were her father
s death and the lack of books that interested her. Even though Hinton has been
writing novels since the third grade, Hinton claims to have started writing because
she Had read all the cowboy and horse books in the library and wanted something
to read (Wilson, 13). Hinton felt that there weren t enough cowboy books that
could satisfy her, so she decided to write them herself. Even though The Outsiders
was Hinton s first published work, it was actually her third novel, and the two
previous novels were completely focused on cowboys and horses. Another main
influence in Hinton s passion for writing was her father s death. During Hinton s
sophomore year in high school, as she began to write The Outsiders, meanwhile
her father was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and later died in her junior year,
around the time she was finishing the book. Hinton turned to writing her novels as
a way of coping with her father s death. During an interview, Hinton s mother said:
Susie was very close to her father, and I noticed that the sicker he became, the
harder she worked (Wilson, 16). Her father s death is also portrayed in The Outsiders
Strategies Of A Personal Reflection
What
An example of when I displayed resilience was when I was assigned a unit as a
hospital volunteer and took on different roles that what I anticipated. My
supervisor was on maternity leave for the duration of my rotation, so I was placed
at the nurses station to aid them with tasks as needed. The difficulty I had in this
role was the ambiguity when I came for my shifts and feelings of being a burden to
the staff by not having designated tasks. Rather than continue these negative
thoughts, I came up with a new strategy to be of help by reducing the staff s
workloads or prepping paperwork in advance to allow them more time to focus on
the patients. Additionally, I sought feedback on areas I could improve on to not only
help the unit staff, but also patients and their visitors. These tactics are similar to
what we discussed in class pertaining to developing our growth mindset. By
enforcing these strategies, I was able to contribute to a more positive and rewarding
atmosphere during my shifts with everyone I met.
From a different outcome, an instance I did not display resilience was during my time
as an executive member for a student club in helping facilitate camaraderie amongst
the team. As one of the external executives, I observed frustration and conflict of
interests that resulted in a negative perception between some team members and
targeted outcomes for meetings. What I failed to do in these instances was to take
initiative in establishing feedback channels that would promote efficient
communication between everyone. A few strategies discussed from class regarding
growth mindset that would have been critical in helping me address this situation are:
praising everyone on the team s progress and efforts, and focusing on the future
while learning from feedback. The key aspect of focusing on the future while not
dwelling on the past was utilizing the component of getting feedback and learning
from our mistakes to come back stronger as a team rather than remain divided on a
blame game.
So What?
What I learned from these incidents is that while the people I interact with have a
strong influence on how I perceive and react to my environment, I also have control
in my outlook. The strategies were useful in
Dream Job Essay
Career Project
A career I would be interested in pursuing is being a park ranger. This job interests
me because I love spending time outdoors and with people. It also is an interest of
mine to keep our wonderful parks and woodland environments safe and to have them
still be around for many more generations to come.
The job of a park ranger is to enforce laws, regulations and policies in national, state,
county, or municipal parks with dangerous wildlife, bad terrain, or in bad weather
situations. Park rangers do task such as vehicle and personal registration, fee
collections and issuing of permits. They must give information about the park use,

Some physical demands park rangers might come across frequently include: climbing,

Park rangers need at least two years of college with at least twelve credits in
science and criminal justice. Most park ranger positions require a bachelor s
degree as well. Also, a master s degree is helpful for advancement into supervisory
positions. Also, to become a park ranger there is no special licensing or certification
required. There are three major degrees that are preferred. These include: parks,
recreation, and leisure studies, business or public administration, and natural
sciences. The one that I am interested in studying is Parks, Recreation, and Leisure
studies. This major is offered at a variety of schools. The school I have chosen is
Central Missouri State University.
Admission requirements for Central Missouri State University are like most other
state schools. The preferred admission test ACT. The average ACT score for the

Lab Science: 2 years, Visual/Performing Arts: 1 year. The tuition and fees for this

The Second World War (WWII)
The Second World War (WWII) , was a war fought majoritively in Europe and Asia
between 1939 to 1945. The Second World War was started from many issues that
were left unresolved from the First World War, as well as the lasting effects of the
Great Depression in the 1930 s. Generally there are two conflicts which are thought
to have started the Second World War; the invasion of China by the Japanese Empire
in 1937, and the invasion of Poland by Soviet Russia and Germany in 1939. This war
resulted in more deaths than other with around 500 million lives being lost. Around a
million Australians , both men and women, served in the Second World War, they
fought in multiple campaigns in Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa, South East
Asia and the Pacific. For the first time, the mainland of Australia was under attack,
Japanese aircraft bombed North West Australia, and Sydney Harbour was attacked by
Japanese submarines*. As opposed as the First World War, few Australian troops

Culture Vs American Culture
I can vividly recall one warm summer night in Dallas,Texas when my entire family
and I were huddled around a tiny 27 inch television. We were anxiously watching
one of the most infamous rivalries in sport: India versus Pakistan. I did not quite
understand what was happening in the match, but judging by the anxious look on my
family s faces, I could tell that the game was very close and intense. I remember my
dad and uncles talking about strategies Pakistanshould use to win, debating back and
forth on what would be the best move. Unfortunately, moments later, everybody
went quiet, as only sighs and groans filled the room. Pakistan had just lost. Seeing
the somber faces around the room, I realized how important cricket was to my
family, and how it was a pivotal aspect of their collective identity; how a simple
sporting match was able to bring people together,... Show more content on

A part of that has to do with learning the varying differences between Pakistani and
American culture. For example, while most children were watching cartoons like
SpongeBob SquarePants or simply American sports, I remember watching Cricket
(the most popular sport in Pakistan) and a South Asian crime drama, called CID .
While some of my friends would have meatloaf for dinner, I would have Pakistani
dishes like Nihari and Biryani. I communicated with my parents almost exclusively
in Urdu, the official language of Pakistan. And while most of my friends would go
to a church in a suit and tie, I would go to a mosque, wearing a traditional Pakistani
outfit, known as a Shalwar Kurta . Pakistani and American cultures differ in many
ways, and it is by experiencing both of these cultures simultaneously, and effectively
assimilating into American society, that had an integral role in shaping the person
that I have become today, not only in terms of my personality but also in the way I

Essay On How To Survive Middle School
So, you want to know how to survive middle school? Well I can help you. Being a
middle school student, you pick up a couple tricks along the way. Then sometimes
you can even find or hear tips, now a lot of the tips and tricks usually come from a
teacher, but you will discover some on your own that will make Middle School a bit

many tips and tricks. Now some tips and tricks are just plain sense, but you don t

Being organized will help you so much throughout middle school. The main reason
to be organized is because it will make you feel less stressed. Let s say you just
stuff homework in your backpack when your backpack is already full of papers,
then the next day you will have so much stress rummaging through your backpack
for a single paper. Being prepared is essential. I have seen many people get written
up or even a detention because they forgot a book. Time management is key in
middle school. If you get homework from every class and it is all due the next day,
don t do it all at 10:00 PM, this is single handedly the worst thing you can do in
middle school. Also don t procrastinate. Now this falls under the same category as
time management, but this usually has to do with projects, not homework, Let s say
Mrs. Delucia gives you a project to do over Christmas break, don t wait until the
last weekend before we come back to school to do the whole science project, If you
do two things will happen, one, you will have a stress filled weekend and that is
not good. Number two, you usually won t get a good grade on the project because
you rushed the project that was meant to be done over a span of two weeks, and you
decided to do it in two

Only the gold and silver flowed now, not from the coffers of the king, but from the
purses of men who had made, say a fortune from industry, and returned, in their wills,
a bounteous share of it to endow more chairs, more lectureships, more fellowships in
the university where they had learnt their craft(754). This is a quote from Virginias
Woolf s essay, A Room of One s Own . Here she is making a point about universities
and the funding that they received from men that had gone to school there. Woolf s
essay takes place during the early nineteen hundreds when most women did not attend

Thankfully times have changed, and women writers are recognized equally as men
are today in society. The main reason is that women today have an equal chance at
education. Education today is open to everyone, because education can be paid for,
or funded in various ways.
Universities today are much easier to attend for anyone that wishes to go to
school. There are so many different types of programs out there today that make
education more affordable for people that do not have the assets to pay for an
education themselves. There are many forms of financial aid available for specific
groups of people. For example, there are scholarship programs set up specifically
for women, or programs set up specifically for minorities. There are also programs
set up for people with certain disabilities. These programs are set up in this sort of
way to give everyone a chance to fit in to one of the specific categories. There are
many ways to apply for these types of financial aid. You can do them through your
high school, place of work, or even find them over the internet.
What about the people that don t fit into these specific categories? For these people,
there are general financial aid programs established. These programs are set up by
private, public, or government institutions. These programs include scholarships,
student loans, grants, and many more. Many of these types of financial aid

  • 2. Nuclear Weapons In North Korea Research Paper Nuclear Weapons in North Korea What comes to mind when the word nuclear has been mentioned? Many people would think of nuclear power from the solar system. Nuclear Weapons are bombs or missiles like figure that uses nuclear energy to cause an explosion. Why would someone want to make a weapon of mass destruction? There are many reasons to answer that question like it can more tension around the world. The solution to the Nuclear Weapons in North Koreais to make a compromise because it will give North Korea a chance to tell their allies why they started the nuclear program, they can settle an agreement to make a new peace treaty and it may be able to reduce the amount of nuclear weapon usage. 1910 1940 In 1910, the Chosun Dynasty ended North Korea from being colonized by Japan. Which indeed was a brutal and terrible experience for anyone who had ever lived through that moment of time (History of North Korea). Later, the Soviet Union and the United Stated had agreed to the separation of the Korean peninsula between them. So the U.S. and the Soviet Union drew a line on the 38 attitude line to make the Demilitarized Zone. The DMZ was suppose to be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By having a meeting to settle out the conflicts that other countries have with North Korea. In doing that North Korea can testify on why they made nuclear weapons and what they was determined to do with it. Also, we can influence North Korea to reduce or even throw away all of their nuclear components. I combined what others tried to do which didn t work. I believe my solution will work because it will give North Korea to step up to the plate and explain their reasoning on this issue. In addition, it won t cause any commotion to influence another World War series. Other ideas to solute this issue would have worked it, they won t only worrying about themselves for the chance. • 3. Kant And Jean Jacques Rousseau Public discourse has commonly been known as the communication of diverse claims between the public backed by reason and substantive argument. This exchanging of views often happens between both those who agree with one s sentiment and those who disagree. Since the beginning of civilization, humans have been given the responsibility of finding a reasonable outcome at the end of an argument with somebody of opposing views. Through deliberation, both sides of the argument articulate their reasoning for their views and attempt to find such reasonable outcomes. At times, a middle ground is unattainable between the two and tension grows. At this point, distinct guidelines need to be set in regards to the extent in which individuals can exert... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each person has their personal role in maintaining the common good for those around them and thus should fulfill it. He believed that fulfilling this task and contributing to society would create happiness for the individual which would overcome self interest. If those who pursued their personal interests rather than those of the common good, then they would be seen as selfish and face consequences. Rousseau believed that each person obtains a natural repugnance to seeing any sentient being, especially our fellow man, perish or suffer, (DeLue and Dale 190) and that this only changes due to pity and selfishness. Rousseau did not take kindly to those who were seen as selfish and following self interest. He stated that a society can banish him [a person who violates citizen norms] not for being impious but unsociable, for being incapable of sincerely loving the laws and justice, and of sacrificing his life, if necessary, for his duty, (DeLue and Dale 202). For those who do not pursue the concept of the common good and question the way of society, they are subject to be removed. A society in which people contest the civic norm is not one acceptable to Rousseau. Counter to Jean Jacques Rousseau, Immanuel Kant believed that people should be entitled to individual freedom and personal interests. Kant aligned with enlightenment thinkers Locke and Hobbes and was an advocate for rights protecting intellectual freedom. Kant believed that a civil society required
  • 4. The Poetry of Walt Whitman Essay Walt Whitman is considered by many to be one of the greatest poets of the nineteenth century. Whitman grew up in New York and was a member of a large family, having eight siblings. Only four of these siblings lived to adulthood. His father was an alcoholic, which led to Whitman becoming more like a father figure than a brother to his siblings. Whitman quit school at the age of eleven. He then worked as a journalist, as a carpenter, as a teacher, and as an editor before focusing on poetry. Whitman is most well known for his book of poems, Leaves of Grass. Whitman could not find a publisher interested in his poems; therefore, he published them himself. Whitman rereleased this collection of poems several times, each time with the addition of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whitman deplored slavery and was even fired from his job as an editor for his outspoken views on the subject. Whitman saw Lincoln as someone who wanted to put an end to slavery and as someone who would put his words into action. Whitman took a great interest in The Civil War. His brother served in the war and Whitman volunteered as a nurse at an army hospital in Washington, D.C., where he dressed the wounds of injured soldiers, as well as read to them, and wrote letters for them to their families. Whitman gave lectures on President Lincoln almost up until his own death. Whitman was greatly disturbed by the assassination of President Lincoln and wrote these poems as a tribute to him. The most popular and the most analyzed of these poems is When Lilacs Last in the DoorYard Bloom d. Laurie Lanzen writes, this is a poem whose rich and sacred beauty and rapture of tender religious passion leave it unique and solitary in literature, and will make it the chosen and immortal hymn of death forever (Lanzen, 544 ). Even though Whitman never mentions President Lincoln by name in the poem, according to whitmanarchive.org, this poem was published in the fourth edition of Leaves of Grass in 1867 under the heading President Lincoln s Burial Hymn (whitmanarchive.org). This has come to be considered as one of the best poems ever written by Whitman. When Lilacs Last in the
  • 5. Observation Of Migrant Mother Make observations: The migrant mother is in the foreground of the image, while her children are in the background of the image. The migrant mother is the major element in this image, while the children are the minor elements are the children. The mother is staring out in the distance, and appears to have a concerned expression on her face. She is worried, and her clothes are ragged. There are three children in this image: two of them near her shoulders, and another in her lap. It appears that the child in her lap is an infant, and was born somewhat recently. Connect the observations: In 1936, the Dust Bowl was occurring in the United States. The Dust Bowl was a series of dust storms that destroyed lives, and forced many citizens in the Midwest to relocate to California. According to Lange, this image was taken in California. It is possible that the mother and her children have been displaced from their homes, and are escaping to California looking for work. However, finding work in California was often a fruitless effort. There was typically little to no work for migrants, which could be a source of stress for the migrant mother. She has three children, but she is most likely unable to feed them. This is further supported by the state of her clothes and her children s clothes. They are tattered, which indicates there is not enough money to buy new clothes. Draw inferences from the related observations: A possible interpretation of this situation is that the woman has recently migrated from the Midwest, and is struggling to provide for her family. She is in a difficult situation, because she loves her children but is unable to provide them with an ideal lifestyle. Their faces are covered in dust, and the mother is wearing an expression of hopelessness. The tone of this image is one of hopelessness, the underlying emotion common in almost all the Okies at the time. The hardships have worn the migrant mother down, and she is struggling to survive with her three children. There are no other family members present in the image, suggesting that she is the sole provider and sole source of income for her family. Form a tentative interpretative conclusion: By depicting the facial expression of the woman and her
  • 6. Learning To Read And Write By Frederick Douglass And... Learning a new set of skills can be off putting and come with many difficult challenges. In the excerpt, Learning to Read and Write by Frederick Douglass and Learning to Read by Malcolm X it discusses each mans challenges to be literate as black men in America. Though set almost half a century apart, hardships occur as both strive for greatness. Through their use of diction, details, and language each speaker differentiates themselves from each other and forms their own unique way of sharing their story. In the two excerpts the two men use diction to expose their character and evoke emotions in the reader. Frederick Douglass describes his first challenge, when abandoned by his mistress s teachings and he has to come up with ways to become familiar with reading. The plan which I adopted, and the by which I was most successful, was that of making friends with all the little white boys whom I met in the streets . BY choosing to say this Douglass then makes himself seen like a strong independent man. When things get tough he doesn t give up he simply finds another way to get it done and that is impressive. While Douglass uses diction to empower himself Malcolm X uses diction to lower his ego and describe himself before learning to read, In the street, I had been the most articulate hustler out there I had commanded attention when I said something. But now trying to write simple English I not only wasn t articulate, I wasn t even functional . BY sharing this specific
  • 7. Refuting Thomas Hobbes Essay In order for Hobbes to promote the necessity of a governing sovereign, it is paramount that he dismisses any objection against his argument. During his argument, Hobbes introduces a sceptic view of his third law of nature. If Hobbes is unable to dismiss this view, his third law of nature will not stand, and conversely his argument will fall. I argue that although Hobbes is unable to sufficiently dismiss the sceptic s challenge in its entirety, Hobbes is able to defend his third law of nature, and therefore maintain the necessity of a governing sovereign. In order to prove this, I will first outline and elaborate the significance of Hobbes third law of nature. Then I will illustrate the challenge posed against Hobbes third law of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fool suggests that sometimes there are cases when it is in one s best interest not to fulfil their end of a covenant. The fool s scepticism challenges Hobbes to find an answer as to why it is always in one s best interest to keep one s promises, namely, one s end of a covenant. The fool s argument rest on the premise that one s actions should always benefit him, which entails that sometimes there are cases when it is rational to act against what Hobbes defines as a natural law, a natural law that is indispensable for Hobbes theory to move forward. In response to the fool s challenge, Hobbes distinguishes and dismisses between four possible scenarios in which the fool s argument is applicable. I will first distinguish the four scenario s, which I label as: (1), (2), (3), and (4), then I will outline how Hobbes dismisses each scenario. And finally, I will argue whether Hobbes is able to provide sufficient grounds to dismiss each scenario. The scenario s are: (1) acting first in the state of nature, (2) acting first in a governed society, (3) acting second in the state of nature, and (4) acting second in a governed society. Hobbes forfeits (1) to the fool because he agrees that it would not be rational to act first in the state of nature. There are no guarantees that the second party will not renege in the state of nature. Further,

The series Making a Murderer portrays Avery as a victim but as you will see in my findings, he is not. During his release he decided to sue the county $36 million for the false conviction. While Avery is fighting his case, Teresa Halbach comes up missing and is found brutally murdered. The police charge Avery and his cousin with the murder sentencing them to life in prison. Standardized Test Scores According to a recent study on high school student ACT scores, only about 25 percent of students performed well enough to be considered ready for college (O Shaughnessy). In our country today, education has been limited to the test taking abilities and time management skills needed to perform well on standardized tests. Our educators are told to teach in a way that increases a student s ability to take tests well, instead of improving creativity or focusing on a student s strengths in the classroom. Students then perceive that, because they are being educated solely to do well on this one test, they must make a good score on the ACT or SAT for them to be successful in college and future careers. The many scholarships that colleges give out today (sarcasm) are mostly awarded to the students who perform well on one day over students who perform well throughout their entire high school careers. How is this fair? Students should be awarded scholarships based on the four years that they spent in their classrooms and extracurricular activities, not by the 175 minutes that they are in a testing room where they may or may not be sleep deprived, hungry, and anxious. Students and educators today are pressured to prepare and conquer standardized testing, but are they truly teaching and learning valuable material when they are mostly talking about test taking skills? I believe that instead of focusing on standardized testing, our schools should be focusing on developing the students in our education system to become the best students and citizens that they can be in the future by allowing those students to show every part of their education to college administrators and employers instead of just defining them by one number that they achieve on one day of their

Any data that they would need access to on the network will need to be authenticated via a set of credentials on the server itself. The user in this case will be using two different set of credentials to access all of their data. • 32. Descartes and the Mind Essay The topic of the mind and how do we know has been around since the beginning of time. It is one of those questions that will most likely never be answered. I mean, the mind itself is so perplexing that we are still learning stuff about it daily. One question that Descartes proposed was how do we know? we still are pondering this one today. We ask it almost every day, maybe not in that way but in some form or another. So honestly, how do we know? Whenever Descartes started studying about the mind he denounced all of his previous opinions and started fresh. He first stated that knowledge is seen as a building in which all the superstructure is resting on a foundation, and the building is only as strong as its foundation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So he began to ponder on how to prove that he truly did exist. He finally came up with this: Thought exists; it alone cannot be separated from me. I am; I exist this is certain. But for how long? For as long as I am thinking; for perhaps it could also come to pass that if I were to cease all thinking I would then utterly cease to exist. At this time I admit nothing that is not necessarily true. I am therefore precisely nothing but a thinking thing; that is a mind, or intellect, or understanding, or reason words of whose meanings I was previously ignorant. Yet I am a true thing and am truly existing; but what kind of thing? I have said it already: a thinking thing (Meditation II 31). So in proving that he existed he also proved who he was or who we are. We are thinking things things that can function as long as we think, but the moment that we stop thinking is the moment that we no longer exist. So is that the moment we die? Or is it something entirely different? So through this he proved that anything that he cannot doubt then that is what he is. And whatever he can doubt, then he is not. He now had the knowledge of knowing about himself of who and what he was. But there was a problem with this, that even though one doubted something then it could still be true. One could doubt that he/she won a race even though they did win. Even though

Dystopian Literature is a great example of this scenario because it shows how perfect can sometimes be an illusion. I think Dystopian Literature should be used in storytelling to give the reader an idea of what places are really like instead of thinking that they are perfect, straight and narrow. A dystopia is a futuristic and imagined universe in which oppressive societal control and the illusion of a perfect society are maintained through corporate, bureaucratic, technological, moral, or totalitarian control. An Efficient Way Transmit Codes Throughout time the need for an efficient way transmit codes were essential to success, after World War I and into the start of World War II American forces was running out of ideas for codes. The USA had always used the white s soldiers for the code talkers because there were easy to train, and a abundance of them to choose making them the practice choose for code talkers. Until Philip Johnston, he was an initiator that worked for a Marine Corps program. As a kid and into his teens he grew up on a Navajo reservation and his dad was a missionary. With the use of the Navajos it grained equality for Native Americans which was not found in the late 1800 s, and soon it gained them a greater respect by the whites into today s age. In the late 1800 s Indians were seen through the eyes of the settlers as pests, people who occupy the land that rightfully belonged to the whites. They were thought of as savages. However this was not true, the Navajo Indians and many other tribes were only willing to fight for their land, families and the property that they have inhabited for hundreds of years (Robert A. Roessel, 1). In this time of lack of control, Navajos were overpowered by Americans who were in position of authority and control. This is because Americans lacked the understanding of the Navajo way, leading to be fatal for many as they were being transferred, resigned,

Social, Political And Economic Implications Of Money Throughout the course of this semester, we have examined the role of money in our society and have been introduced to scholars and economists that have offered rationale for the social, political and economic implications of money. One overwhelming theme that has lingered throughout most of the readings and lectures is the idea of inequality, particularly within the scope of the American economy. While other economies such as China or India are labor based economies, I have found that America s Capitalist economy is fueled by multiple facets racial inequality. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Black men are being denied the chance of a full life with all of the rights; privileges and opportunities of white men and similarly, the families/communities from which they come from are also at a significant disadvantage. A National Bureau of Research study found that Black families between 2004 2008 were 54% more likely to be charged higher on their mortgage rates than white families. This fact alone drives two main issues I will explore in this paper: the implications of socioeconomics and how inequality drives the American economy through the lens of mortgage lending. One theorist I will use to explore these ideas of inequality is John Maynard Keynes. Keynes argued that capitalism is a mere congery of possessors and pursuers (Keynes 60) and he also asserted that economic output is only based on the aggregate demand . Between 2004 2008, when Black families were getting charged higher interest rates on their homes than white families with similar incomes, large banks were pocketing millions of extra dollars from these families as many of the rates today would have been considered sub prime rates . This predatory act placed against people of color encouraged classism and as a result led to negative socioeconomic outcomes moreover, the notion of white

This leads to a deep respect for human harmony with the environment. Many Ghibli films contain jinja, or shrines, and torii, or sacred gates, which are used to pay respect or give offerings in ShintЕЌism. Ghibli films also contain kami, spirits that reside in all things. Princess Mononoke is filled with a kami (Odell 28). Other Japanese mythology is seen through Miyazaki films through spirits that have the ability to transform their shape, such as the foxes and raccoons in Pom Poko. Buddhism also influences Miyazaki films. Dragons derive from Buddhist legends and are in Spirited Away. Buddhist statues are also seen in My Neighbor Totoro, and Pom Poko (Odell 28). All of his movies contain variations of spirits, demons, or fantastical creatures rooted in nature. There is a balance of empathy through his human elements, but mystery in his fantasy elements. One major theme that runs through all Miyazaki films is environmentalism, or how mankind interacts with nature. This is closely linked with the ShintЕЌ ethic that sees the environment as interconnected beings that deserve respect. In Princess Mononoke, the center of the plot is focused on the conflict between humans destroying the forest and the gods and spirits who are fighting back. The strands of bamboo are normally glued together so as to create engineered planks or solid strips, just like it is with hardwood. It has three grain patterns which are flat, woven and vertical. Flat grains tend to show the plant s characteristics of intermittent growth nodes; woven types come with sinewy patterns while vertical grains have closely packed strands that produce fine grain appearance. Pros Bamboo is durable and tough. Also, it is considered sustainable because the plant from which it is harvested can be easily grown and regenerated. Cons Even being a natural material, there are some environmental concerns about the adhesive used in its construction process (regarding toxicity). The Characteristics Of The Native Americans Introduction Humans in nature are curious and this leads into finding or creating extraordinary things that may one day be value or question by many. As early civilizations emerge, the beginning of many wonders were developed and with great accuracy. Although there was a lack of technology, as we have today, one wonders how some items may have been developed. The Native Americans are just one particular example to analyze. Despite the lack of the tools we have today, their artwork is impeccable and with great accuracy. Their art work and constructions leave one to ponder on how those items were developed. Furthermore, one can also wonder on how records were kept. The number system that we have today was not available to them. Yet, they were able to have some sense of counting. In addition, Native Americans placed importance on specific numbers and this can be seen in both art and their activities. Patterns and Shapes The need to create and construct goes far beyond what one can imagine. It is in human nature to be curious and to develop or create based on the observations of the world around us. In fact, shapes and patterns emerge in nature organically (Rudman 2007). Yet, by analyzing the world around us and trying to create based on observations and creativity leads into our desire to mimic nature itself. Even though Hinton has been writing novels since the third grade, Hinton claims to have started writing because she Had read all the cowboy and horse books in the library and wanted something to read (Wilson, 13). Hinton felt that there weren t enough cowboy books that could satisfy her, so she decided to write them herself. My supervisor was on maternity leave for the duration of my rotation, so I was placed at the nurses station to aid them with tasks as needed. The difficulty I had in this role was the ambiguity when I came for my shifts and feelings of being a burden to the staff by not having designated tasks. Rather than continue these negative thoughts, I came up with a new strategy to be of help by reducing the staff s workloads or prepping paperwork in advance to allow them more time to focus on the patients. Additionally, I sought feedback on areas I could improve on to not only help the unit staff, but also patients and their visitors. These tactics are similar to what we discussed in class pertaining to developing our growth mindset. By enforcing these strategies, I was able to contribute to a more positive and rewarding atmosphere during my shifts with everyone I met. From a different outcome, an instance I did not display resilience was during my time as an executive member for a student club in helping facilitate camaraderie amongst the team. As one of the external executives, I observed frustration and conflict of interests that resulted in a negative perception between some team members and targeted outcomes for meetings. What I failed to do in these instances was to take initiative in establishing feedback channels that would promote efficient communication between everyone. A few strategies discussed from class regarding growth mindset that would have been critical in helping me address this situation are: praising everyone on the team s progress and efforts, and focusing on the future while learning from feedback. The key aspect of focusing on the future while not dwelling on the past was utilizing the component of getting feedback and learning from our mistakes to come back stronger as a team rather than remain divided on a blame game. So What? What I learned from these incidents is that while the people I interact with have a strong influence on how I perceive and react to my environment, I also have control in my outlook.
