of communication and education in these countries, there are more workers allowed to compete
with workers in traditionally strong countries, such as the United States. This has a negative effect

Dementia And Its Effect On The Function Of The Brain
Dementia is a term used to describe the symptoms of a number of illnesses which effect the
function of the brain. It is an umbrella term describing the progressive decline in a person s
cognitive ability. The type and severity of symptoms varies with each type of dementia and is
usually has a gradual onset, is progressive and irreversible. (1) Research conducted by the
Australian government in 2011, estimated that 298,000 Australians have been diagnosed with
dementia and based on current projections, this number will exceed 400,000 by 2020. (1)
Although forecast methods vary, the number of people with dementia is expected to triple
between 2011 and 2050 and is estimated to reach approximately 900,000 by 2050. (1) In 2013,
10,933 people died from dementia, making it the second leading underlying cause of death in
Australians, accounting for 7.4% of deaths in that year. This number has gradually increased by
32% since 2009. (2) Dementia does not only impact the people with symptoms and it also
disturbs the people who must care for the person. It is estimated that 1.2 million people are
involved in the care of people with dementia. It has a financial burden on the Australian economy
$4.9 billion in 2009 10. (1) Globally, the World Health Organisation reports there are
approximately 47.5 million people who have been diagnosed with a form of dementia and there
are 7.7 million new cases each year. The number of people effected internationally is estimated to
triple by 2050 to

Bell California Case Study
Bell California is a small community located south east of Los Angeles California. In the
summer of 2009 that was caught up in a corruption scandal. The city manager Robert Rizzo was
making $800,000 a year, and the Chief of Police Randy Adams was making $457,000 a year much
more than even the Chief of Police of the Los Angeles Police Department makes, (Coolican, 2010).
The citycouncil to include the mayor of the city were all part time employees at the municipality
only making monthly meetings and small political tasks, however, each garnered around $100,000
annually. The Town was an of modest income and where not wealthy people, so the tax base did
not support the pay of these city officials. The Bell City Mayor Oscar Hernandez defended the
salaries saying that since the city manager came the city went from being in defect near bankruptcy
and now has nearly $ 15 million in the general fund, also the streets are cleaner and better lighting
throughout the city, (Gottlieb, Vives, 2010).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem was that when Rizzo came into office, he cut budgets, and excess which would be
good, except he took the funds and exploited them for his gain, he also paid off city council and
department heads to get them to go along. Part of the problem was that the State of California did
little to regularly audit federal awards and other programs in small city governments, allowing
Rizzo to run wild for years, (Leder Luis,

What to Do in Case of a Pandemia
There are many pandemics that could happen to most Americans. Such as Black outs, zombie
apocalypse, government collapse, nuclear fallout etc. if one was to survive the pandemic here
are some skills that might be a necessity. Knowing first aid is a priority. In a situation that calls
for first aid it is important to remember the Three C s Calm Cool and Collected. You must stay
calm cool and collective in order to not escalate you hart rate making you bleed more or spread
poisoning faster than normal. Even though one is calm cool and collective one still must move
at a fast pace in order to address the problem at hand. In a survival situation a person should not
take any risk that is not necessary or helpful to his well being. If it is a large epidemic one should
look for survivors around him for help. Even though one might want to survive on his own it is
better to survive as a unit, and it will be more productive than doing it on his own[Dual
Survival]. If one is assessing others around he should ask what they are feeling then checks his
breathing, and look for any visible wounds on the body. If there are wounds on the body apply
pressure with a shirt or gauze if available, apply the material available till the bleeding is no
longer visible. If the persons leg is broken or fractured, one can use a branch to stabilize and
create a make shift cast in a survival situation [the complete sas survival manual]. If sunburned
keep cold water on it and wrap it up

Reflection and Analysis of Chaconne from Partita in D...
My musical selection was Chaconne from Partita in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed
by The Eroica Trio. I listened to this piece, lasting fourteen minutes and forty eight seconds, through
the online classical music library. This piece was composed in 1720 during the Baroque Era and
exhibits many features characteristic of Baroque music, which will be analyzed later in this paper.
This chaconne is considered to be one of the most intense pieces of musicBach ever wrote,
according to the La Jolla Music Society. In order to fully understand this piece a variety of
information will be presented including a synopsis of Bach s life, background on the piece, a
listening chart for this chaconne, the events occurring in society that impacted music and art in the
Baroque Era and an analysis of the composition with reference to typical Baroque musical
characteristics.
In order to understand his music, it is important to overview Bach s life and the affect he had on
the musical realm. Music was the obvious career for Johann Sebastian Bach as he was born to a
family of musicians, extending back several generations. According to the book, A History of
Baroque Music, by George Beulow, No other composer had as unique a family lineage, which
extended from the sixteenth into the early nineteenth century, with more than fifty Bachs who were
actively engaged in the music profession (Beulow, 503). Johann s father was the town musician and
taught him how to play violin. At a

Informative Speech On Children In Las Vegas
If you are going to Las Vegas and you are bringing children along you are probably thinking some
of the following, what are we going to do with the kids? Is there anything age appropriate? Is
there really anything for the whole family to do that will be fun, entertaining, and clean for the
little ones? All valid questions, especially when you are going to Las Vegas which, well let s be
honest is especially famous for gambling, drinking, late night parties, and somewhat questionable
morals. But don t worry! You and your kids can have a great time in Las Vegas without seeing
things that will scar their little minds (or cause them to ask questions you may not be ready to
answer.) Here are some of the fun activities you can do and some of the amazing shows you can

You know what normally happens when you get to a ride and you have young children who are
dying to ride but are just too short for those pesky height restrictions. Well, Frog Hopper is the
answer for those whines and cries. The Frog Hopper is 30 feet tall and allows children to
experience 60 seconds of free falling. After the initial fall the ride bounces in short spurts up and
down much like a hopping frog. Gondola Ride Located in the St. Mark s Square of the Venetian
hotel of Las Vegas, the Gondola ride is one of the Venetian s most popular attractions. The ride
actually sells out every day and the hotel had to hire more gondoliers to guide and sing. Your
kids can have a fun relaxing time taking in the sights while listening to the Gondolier sing. Grand

thing to do with the kids. Show them the natural wonder of a canyon that measures one mile deep
and about 280 miles long. The view nearest Las Vegas is a particularly stunning one. M M

#1) (A) Issac Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation is: Two bodies attracted to each other with a
force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the
square of the distance between them. This means that the further apart these two attracting bodies
are from each other, the less the gravitational force between them is. The force of gravity depends
on the product of the mass of the two attracting bodies. If the distance between the two bodies
doubles, the force between them becomes one quarter of the force it was before.

Air bubbles form in the lens as the liquid gas cools. The air bubbles cause, distorted images due to
extra refractions.
Opaque: when some wavelengths of light can t pass through the lens, visible light is dimmed when
it passes through, and the lens absorbs ultraviolet radiation.
The reflecting telescope was helpful in solving some of these problems because they use mirrors
with top coated surfaces which light does not enter. Mirrors don t sag because they can easily be
supported unlike heavy lenses. Since light doesn t enter the mirror, the problems of different
wavelengths, chromatic aberration and opaque do not occur. However, spherical aberration can
still occur because when light enters a telescope with a spherical mirror at different distances
from the mirror s center, the light comes into focus at different focal lengths. One other main
problem with reflecting telescopes is that they block out about ten percent of light attracted by
the primary mirror. They are still the preferred telescopes to use. (B) I would build a reflecting
telescope. I would want the mirror to be F/15, 800 at the most. Anything larger would not useless.
I would ground, polish, shape and coat the mirror with aluminum coating. I would make the
mirror concave in order to collect light to a point and then reflect it to a secondary mirror. I would
turn the secondary mirror to a 45 degree angle and would build the eyepiece onto the side

My First White Water Fracking Expedition
The excitement of my first whitewater rafting expedition soon evaporated, like an elusive dream.
The rolling, brown waves played a dangerous game of leapfrog before me, turning white for a
brief second before crashing down as their turn concluded. The overpowering roar of the water
almost drowned out the shouting voices of the sun kissed guides. Grab a life jacket and a helmet!
Then go by a raft! Hurry it up, let s move! Feeling not quite as prepared as I would have liked, I
was nonetheless ushered onto a blue raft. We were told to shove one foot under the inflatable
seat in front of us in order to not capsize during the excursion. An increasing numbness crept up
my leg as my foot began to throb, diverting my attention for only a moment. The high pitched
squeals and yells of those already meandering down the river snapped me out of my daze as I
looked around to assure that my largest fear had not come true for someone else. A small ripple...

The tip of my plastic paddle plunged into the dirty water below me in a furious down and back
motion. Sprays and mists of water lashed onto my face as a form of payback for disrupting the
river s fluid movement. My eyelids blinked rapidly in an effort to remove the water from my
eyes, for I could not risk letting go of the paddle. The river carried our raft in a rapid up, down,
and side to side roller coaster motion. All of a sudden a mammoth wave sprung up before our
eyes, tempting us to stay on the thin edges of the raft. The six of us ducked into the shallow bed
of the raft and screamed in a combination of both excitement and fear. After it had passed, we
quickly popped our heavily saturated selves back up and continued to obey the shouting
commands of our guide. His expertise of the voyage gave me the reassurance I needed to become
comfortable. A natural routine developed, and a smile played across my lips. A bit of laughter

Qht1 Task4
Overcoming communication barriers
There are four main types of barriers in communication. Any of these barriers can ruin the
chances of success in any given project or task that we are trying to achieve here at XYZ Company.
I was asked by our Vice President to give some suggestions and guidelines to help you avoid these
barriers, which will allow your team to run more productively, with less need to take corrective
actions, and decrease frustration within the team.
Let us start with process barrier. There are specific steps needed for a successful communication.
The process barrier includes your ability to create a message, presentation, project plan, etc. The
next steps are assuring that the message is transmitted to the receiver ... Show more content on

Determine best form of communication based on complexity, number of people involved, needs
from cross functional team members. o Short term / one time requests use of email, or telephone is
appropriate.
Be clear on need. Ask for response to show understanding by receiver. Give opportunity for
questions as needed. o Technical communications hold them person to person, or in meeting(s).
Use Power point presentations, with handouts, questions and answer sections, note taker for issues
to answer outside of the meeting. o Executive high level reasons, coasts and benefits to the
company.
Give a brief background of issue. If you must use a slide presentation, keep to a minimum. In
person works well, plan on leaving 25% of allotted time for questions. o For larger groups / cross
functional communications
Kick off meetings. Have team members sit at circular tables.
Perform some team building techniques.
Brainstorming to confirm understanding level
The next barrier type is personal. These barriers can occur for both the sender and receiver. Ones
ability to send or receive information is effected by many factors. Mood, prejudices against another
person, another team, your listening skills, method of communication, all can lead to erroneous
interpretations, or level of understanding. Here are tips to help gain overall better communication
with your team, peers, and your manager(s).

Comparing Socrates Apology And Phaedo

Paper One
Contemplating Death
Both philosophers and non philosophers stand on a level of equality with respect to death. There
are no experts on death, for there is nothing to know about it. Even those who study the death
process have no edge on the rest of us. We are all equals in thinking about death, and we all begin
and end thinking about it from a position of ignorance. One trouble with discussing this topic is
the instinctive fear of death. We tend to avoid death in our thoughts and actions. However, if we
could forget our fears for a minute, we could see more clearly how interesting the concept actually
is from a more detached point of view. One of the most interesting views on death comes from an
ancient Greek philosopher, Socrates. In the texts that are going to be analyzed in this essay,
Apology and Phaedo, are the retellings of words and thoughts of Socrates by Plato, a pupil and
admirer of Socrates. Both texts lecture about the topic of death and though both are the thoughts of
Socrates at different times of his life, they have similar and contrasting views on the outlook of
death.
The Apology is the most authentic account that has been preserved of Socrates defense of himself
as it was presented before the Athenian Council. Socrates accusers are poets, craftsmen, politicians
and orators who accuse him of corrupting the youth by making them lose confidence in the
government that has jurisdiction over them. Socrates speaks

The Pros And Cons Of Dystopia
Dystopia is a fictional genre of literature which represents a dark pessimistic image of a society
marked by oppression, inequity, fear and dehumanization. Dystopia can be described as anti
Utopia as it defies the fundamental aspects of Utopia. The word Utopia means (good place) while
Dystopia means (The no good place). Professor Gregory Claeys explains the difference between the
two terms Dystopiais usually supposed to be an inverted, mirrored or negative version of utopia, the
imaginary bad place as opposed to the imaginary good place (Claeys). Moreover, Dystopia is
defined by The Oxford Companion to English Literature Dictionary as a term coined to convey the
opposite of utopia: the dystopian mode, which projects an unpleasant or catastrophic... Show more

The back story and the description of the society depend on whether the dystopia is futuristic or
post apocalyptic. In the futuristic dystopia, the back story explains how the society became
technologically advanced and describes how technology is an essential part of peoples lives. As
for the post apocalyptic dystopia, the back story describes a climatic or nuclear disaster that
occurred which has led to the loss of a massive number of the population. In both dystopias, there
is a face of power, usually the government, that establish the rules and keeps order in check. The
dystopian society is divided into two classes: a class that represents the power and a submissive
class that represents the common people. Julia Gerhard proposes in Control and Resistance in the
dystopian novel that the class of the common people can be further divided according to their social
function which the government

Environmental Assessment Of Wastewater Drains
Environmental Assessment of Wastewater Drains Outfalls Points into River Mouri at Khulna: An
Application of GIS S. Hasan , K. M. Hassan and S. K. Sarkar Abstract Rivers are the blessing on
earth as they serve humans with ample fresh water supply. The purpose of the present study focuses
on the combination of the GIS mapping, to indicate the status of pollution status in the sketch of
River Mouri, downstream to the wastewater outfalls. The GIS mapping of the eleven wastewater
study parameters reveals that the high concentrations of BOD5, COD, DO, Color, Turbidity, TDS
and TSS exceeding the permissible limits is present throughout the study portion of the river. In
addition, it highlighted the portions where only few parameters such as PH, Chloride, Nitrate and
Sulphate are deteriorating the riverine ecosystem. The GIS application in pollutant load assessment
of the study further indicates that although few pollutants, discharged into river are relatively low
in concentrations at one wastewater outfall point as compared to other but may have high pollutant
load that may leads to significantly higher ecological impacts. The possible application of this study
is for the decision makers to introduce optimum treatment engineering controls at points of
interests, prior to its disposal into River Mouri to prevent the ecological damages and protect human
health. Keywords: gis mapping, mouri river, water quality, wastewater outfalls 1.Introduction Water

Tuxedos Research Paper
What do these big stars wear to attend big ceremonies? Females usually wear long gowns, and
males wear tuxedos. For the ones who know little about tuxedos, they would think that all the
tuxedos are the same. The collar is the same as suits, and their back parts are longer than the front
sections. However, they are not the same in reality because they are made in different styles for
different occasions. They are usually worn on formal events, such as the wedding, proms and other
ceremonies.
Many men would like to wear black tuxedos, which are the standard ones for any occasion. They
are the traditional tuxedos, and they could be worn at any event. They look elegant and stylish all

The tuxedo should be made of high quality fabric, stylish designed and excellent lines. The black
suits may be the best choices, for the brides often wear white wedding dresses. The tuxedos are
double breasted or single breasted. You could choose each of them according to your preference.
They are fit for any occasion. But you should remember that the only breasted should be worn open,
and the double breasted should be buttoned when you are standing.
When choosing tuxedos for business occasions, you should pick the perfect ones for meetings or
parties. You may meet many potential partners in business parties; you should present yourself to
others entirely. The tuxedos you wear may help other to know you and remember you. There are
many brand tuxedos. They are designed in different colors and styles; you could choose a perfect

Some people would say that the tuxedos are too expensive and they are not worn frequently.
Buying tuxedos for each occasion would be wasteful. However, there is an excellent way to
spend less money to wear proper and stylish suits for every occasion, and that is to rent tuxedos.
There must be some retailers around your home that sell suits and rent them out at the same times.

1993 World Trade Center Bombing Analysis
1993 World Trade Center Bombing
On February 26, 1993, Middle Eastern inspired terrorism truly hit the United States homeland. A
small group of seven terrorists rented a van, parked it in the underground parking garage of the
World Trade Center, departed and then detonated it. The explosion resulted in six killed, more than
one thousand injured, and a nearly 100 foot crater that was several stories deep. (FBI, 2008).
The ensuing investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and New York Joint
Terrorism Task Force and many FBI agents worldwide. The investigation revealed many clues. The
first was the vehicle identification number for the rented van, which led to the arrest of Mohammad
Salameh. More clues eventually led to the arrest of five other members of the group.
After the attack, the Port Authority spent vast sums of money to repair the building as well as
improving the operational and safety capabilities of the facility. Security was strengthened and all
visitors were required to be screened and receive visitor badges. A radio repeater was also installed
to improve communications within the entire complex. (Aftermath, 2014).

The Impact Of Stress And Strain On Relationships
Connections require work and will undoubtedly confront challenges vast and little. Basic, regular
stressors can strain a cozy relationship, and significant wellsprings of stress may undermine the
soundness of the relationship. For whatever length of time that each accomplice will address the
current issue and take an interest in building up an answer, most relationship issues are reasonable,
however when challenges are left unaddressed, pressure mounts, poor propensities create, and the
wellbeing and life span of the relationship are in peril.
The Impact of Stress and Strain on Relationships
Strain can be set on a relationship when upsetting conditions influence the couple all in all, or even
only one of the accomplices. Perpetual disease of one individual, for instance, can affect the
prosperity of both accomplices. Many couples battle with imparting viably and feeling that they are
heard by their accomplices, and additionally contrasts in child rearing, political perspectives, or
desires. Extreme stressors incorporate treachery, terminal disease of one accomplice, and genuine
emotional well being issues. Hatred, disdain, and an expansion in the recurrence of contentions
have a tendency to be indications of basic issues that have been left unaddressed.
Some regular relationship concerns incorporate money related troubles, hindrances to

three in the span of five years, things can take a turn for the worst. In Giacomo Puccini s Madama
Butterfly, Butterfly is an ex geisha engaged to a lieutenant in the United States Navy. Despite clear
signs that he is only using her, Butterfly adamantly believes that he is a good man who truly wants
to start a familywith her. This wishful thinking comes back to hurt Butterfly, in which her husband
turns his back to marry another womanand adopt the child he had with his first wife. In the end,
after five years of lies, the ex geisha decides to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Puccini depicts Butterfly as an object of pleasure through not only Pinkerton s eyes but the
matchmaker s as well. Goro uses Butterfly for his own selfish deeds, viewing her more of a profit
than a person. To him, all he sees is a pretty face worthy of making a couple yen. However, this was
not an uncommon mindset in early twentieth century Japan. Like most other countries, Japan began
the 1900s with a heavy chauvinistic mindset. Employers tended to hire its female representatives
based on their appearance rather than ability or character. Some jobs even posted signs requesting
that only pretty girls apply ( Confronting Japan s Long Forgotten History of Sexism online).
Misogyny was prevalent in the eastern country, which is an unfortunate yet unavoidable
circumstance Butterfly had to run into. Like mentioned, while Goro exploits Butterfly for money,
Pinkerton sees her more as a fun way to immerse himself in another culture. Despite the sacrifices
Butterfly makes for her husband, such as convert to Christianity and risk disownment from her
family, Pinkerton dismisses them to focus on her sex appeal. This is further emphasized how, after
their first night together, the lieutenant quickly flees to focus on his other interests. Puccini uses
Goro and Pinkerton to set the stage for further tragedy within Butterfly s life. Both men have major
and unfortunately negative effects in the series of events in the opera; they continuously use her for
her own gain without giving much thought to her own thoughts and well being. Puccini depicts
Butterfly as loyal yet stubborn in spite of Pinkerton s sexist nature and Goro s eye for money. This
comes to be her ultimate downfall in the next element of misfortune: personal

Melloy College Application
What factor more than any other caused you to apply to Molloy? The leading reason for my
decision to apply to Molloy College is because Molloy is one of the country s biggest and most
respected programs in nursing. With an opportunity to study at Molloy I am positive that I can
gain the right education and experience needed to acquire the skills, confidence and knowledge
essential in perusing a career as a registered nurse.
After much research I am certain in my discoveries that Molloy will give me the training I need
to prepare me for the career I want. Not only have I found that Molloy offers a variety of class
arrangements making it stress free to work with my schedule but I have also found that Molloy
offers a small class setting with hands on learning. These are two major assets considering I am
a full time employer and need a flexible schedule. Also, a reduced class size can offer me the

Within day of the Khmer Rouge coming into power, Cambodia entered into the darkest time of its
history. Two million people were forced to evacuate from the cities to the countryside in which
they would undertake agriculture work. The Khmer Rouge s goal was to create a rural, classless
society and would force people to work in the fields for more than 12 hours a day without adequate
rest or food. The Khmer Rouge placed a ban on family relationships and began an aggressive
campaign to brainwash children and encourage them to spy on their parents. The children were
taught to report their parents to authorities and turn in their parents as enemies of the state.
Following their coming into power and the evacuations of the citizens, the Khmer Rouge turned its
sights on the people in its own organization.
The Khmer Rouge soon claimed that only pure people were qualified to build their revolution. They
arrested and killed thousands of their soldiers, military officers and civil servants. In the next three
years, the Khmer Rouge would ban religious practice and abolish money, markets, and private

A World That Madeline Foo Is Tired Of An Artificial...
2092. A world that Madeline Foo is tired of. Firstly, she is tired of being in an artificial
environment. The plastic grass that was painted four times a year, the artificial trees that were
programmed to grow five centimetres a year. They were all fake. They cannot photosynthesize
and transpire nor can they produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. This showed the
advancement in technology of this world but it was reflected no more than a decaying city to
Madeline. Secondly, self centred was just one of the many few adjectives that Madeline used to
describe her race. Kampong spirit and helping out one another in need? It was all but a fantasy.
Reality was much harsher. Humans of today are too preoccupied with getting the latest technology
and looking good to notice what is going on around them. Madeline found humans no better than
automatons programmed to wake up, work, eat and sleep. They are hollow shells with no heart to
feel and this was the thing that Madeline hated the most. Humans have no feelings. They pursue
pleasures without knowing what it was. They have no compassion, no empathy, especially so
when treating animals. Madeline got to her main point. She never undergone cosmetic surgeries
and treatment because of a very simple reason because animals were part of this; because of the
horrible ordeal that animals are put through for people to produce such technology for human use.

Baptism is introduced in the Gospels when John the Baptist begins his ministry as the forerunner
of Jesus Christ. John s baptism was a baptism of repentance for Jews; he preached a simple
message to the Jews that they were to repent of their sins in preparation for Kingdom of God and
the coming of the Messiah. In Matthew 3:13 17, Jesuscomes down to the Jordan River to be
baptized by John. After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the
heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of Goddescending as a dove and lighting on Him, and
behold, a voice out of the heavens said, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

The Triune character and language raises a number of important questions. In what ways do the
baptized relate to the mystery of the Triune God? Does it mean that they somehow appropriate the
activities and energies of the Trinity? Do they bear the Triune name like a calling card or as a
symbol of allegiance? What does it mean to be baptized into one the name which is multiple? How
does this shape an understanding of the Christian life in the context of the church and the wider
society? The rite implicitly poses these questions and other like them.
Any claim we might make about naming God in baptism needs to be tested against the biblical and
historical witness to the meaning, purpose and form of the baptismal rite. We turn now to a review
of New Testament, early Christian, and subsequent historical perspectives.
Scripture is the indispensable source for our knowledge of faith, yet we do not read it in a
fundamentalist way. We realize that the authors of the New Testament books wrote at least two
decades after Jesus death and resurrection. These writings thus give us direct access to the faith of
the first Christian generations, and indirect access to the historical Jesus himself, but this
recognition does not diminish their significance. The New Testament documents are both human
documents and God s revelatory word to us. We come to discern the will of Christ through

Essay on The Moor in the Works of William Shakespeare
The Sources and Representations of the Moor in the Works of Shakespeare
One theme consistently reemployed throughout Shakespeare s plays is that of the Other. The Other
is usually characterized as a character that is somehow separated, stigmatized, or noted as being
different from the mainstream ideal. For the Elizabethan England of Shakespeare s time, it may have
been a self defensive maneuver against the encroachment of something which threatened too close
to home (Bartels 450). Bryant lists several methods used to employ this convention of the Other:
race such as that of Shylock and Aaron, nationality as in Iachimo, bastardy such as the characters
Don John and Edmund, social status such as that belonging to Iago, and ... Show more content on

Whether the term Moor had a definition of white or black, of pagan or Muslim religion, or area of
origin seems to be interchangeable when one notes the differences between Shakespeare s four
characters. Sources of the Elizabethan image of the Moor most likely came from sources such as
classical descriptions, actual encounters, travel narratives, and literary conventions (Bartels 433).
Why is the Moor prevalent during Shakespeare s time? What was the importance of or the
sources for this new Other in English literature? Shakespeare uses the Moor as being
characterized in several ways and used for varied dramatic purposes. In order to have a full
understanding of the Moorish character in Shakespeare s works, one must look to history s
relations and depictions of the Moor and how it influenced Shakespeare.
Moors were characterized in Elizabethan England as being alternately or even simultaneously noble
or monstrous, civil or savage. Being a different race meant, primarily, being an Other, non English,
as well as non Christian (Braxton 8). The term Moor, as I have noted before, was fairly vague in
definition. Bartels points out that in common usage, the word was used many times
interchangeably with similarly ambiguous terms as African, Ethiopian, Negro, and even Indian

Looking Beyond the Surface at Raymond Carver s Cathedral
It seems in life that we often look at things without really seeing them. Raymond Carver
demonstrates in Cathedral that looking is associated to physical vision, but seeing involves a
deeper level of commitment. The author is making the point when you put yourself into someone
else s shoes and allow yourself to see things the way they see them, it can be the most rewarding
and eyeopening experience.
During the exposition, the narrator shows that he has no problems with eyesight and he is capable
of looking. The narrator is not blind and thinks that because he can see he is better than Robert.
Because of Robert s physical blindness the narrator thinks that he is not able to have any kind of
normal life. The narrator believes that the ability to see is everything, and puts no effort into
looking and seeing anything beyond the surface. He looks at his house, wife, television, and at
Robert when he arrives. How ironic is it that Robert, the blind man, has the ability to see on a much
deeper level than the narrator? For example, even though Robert cannot physically see the narrator
s wife, he understands her a lot more than her husband. He has truly listened to her during the past
ten years on the audiotapes she sends him. The only interactions shown between the narrator, the
protagonist, and his wife are short exchanges in which he seems to get on her nerves. It is
demonstrated in this conflict by Robert, the antagonist, that seeing involves a lot more than just
looking.

Fluid Resuscitation Protocols And Interventions Have...
Fluid Resuscitation in Burn Patients
Fluid resuscitation protocols and interventions have established guidelines for nursing care of burn
patients in hospital settings. Although these protocols aid the nurse in making treatment decisions,
the nurse must first understand the fluid pathophysiology of burns, the different fluid alternatives,
the amount of fluid volume infusions allowed and their effects within the patient s body, as well as,
any complications related to fluid resuscitation for burn patients. In addition, fluid resuscitation
should be carefully and diligently monitored to ensure the main goal of therapy which is to attain
adequate tissue perfusion while minimizing patient s complications.
Understanding the fluid pathophysiology of burns
Local and systemic inflammatory response occurs within the body due to fluid shifts from
intravascular compartments into the interstitium caused by changes in capillary permeability. The
body s specific response to burns directly correlates with the total body surface (TBSA)
percentage affected. Patients with 25% TBSA burns experience an increase in generalized
capillary permeability, at 30% TBSA burns patients are affected by a disruption on the cellular ion
gradient lasting several days and requiring a longer hospitalization stay, and patients with 50%
TBSA burns end up losing half of their fluid resuscitation volume due to increased leaks into the
non thermally injured tissue (Diver). Several studies coincide that the

On Virtue Phillis Wheatley Analysis
The first known African American to have a poetry book published in America was the late Ms.
Phillis Wheatley. Wheatley was born in 1753, in West Africa. In 1761, when Wheatley was
roughly seven or eight years of age; she was purchased as a personal slave for Susannah Wheatley,
the wife of John Wheatley. Phillis was taught to read and write from Susannah Wheatley s
daughter, Mary in between her household duties. At an early age, Wheatley was deeply involved in
the Bible and multitude of other things to include Latin and Greek to English Literature. Wheatley
s love of poetrybegan when she was just twelve years old. At this age, she started writingpoetry and
Phillis first poem was published in 1770. (Carretta, 2011)

The Metabolic Rate Of Goldfish
Introduction
To determine the metabolic rate of a goldfish two different methods can be applied, direct or
indirect calorimetry. Direct calorimetry analyzes the exothermic reaction when ATP is produced by
measuring the amount of heat that is released. Meanwhile, indirect calorimetry measures the
amount of carbon dioxide or oxygen because both are components of aerobic respiration, a process
which repeatedly supplies more ATP to match the demands of metabolic rate of an organism.
Evidently, metabolic rate is the cumulative sum of energy used by all the cells. Most of this energy
comes from regulating homeostasis, locomotion and thermoregulation. On the other hand,
ectotherms like goldfish have a slight difference in their metabolic rates because their internal
temperature directly correlates with the temperature of their environment. For this reason,
ectotherms use less energy because they do not need to worry about thermoregulation, maintaining
constant body temperature. However, temperature, size, amount of light and stimulus are factors
that can affect metabolism of goldfish. Thus, this experiment will measure the metabolic rate of
goldfish through in direct calorimetry. Furthermore, the amount of oxygen in the chamber reveals
the amount of cellular respiration of the organism. While also, test the effects of decreasing oxygen,
and later increasing the heat on the metabolic rate of goldfish. I hypothesize that an increase in
temperature will increase their metabolic rate

Swimming Events Within The World
Introduction: Today, swimming is very much an enjoyable activity as a form of recreation,
exercise, or physical therapy, as well as a disciplined competitive sport. Early Swimming: In the
olden days, swimming was basically an exercise, seen as a life skill, and therefore, people would
commence controlled coaching. However, swimming races took place in Japan as early because
the 1st century BC, and swimming was a mandatory part of the college curriculum in Imperial
Japan (Britannica, 2005).Also, there were organized swimming events within the 19th century
before Japan was opened to the Western world. The history of swimming dates back to ancient
Egypt and Greece and even to Chinese eras. Rather than swimming as the current sport,
swimming was used as a means to catch fish and shellfish, using diving. The paintings and

that swimming was really used. The first time swimming within the history of in Japan was

  • 4. Bell California Case Study Bell California is a small community located south east of Los Angeles California. In the summer of 2009 that was caught up in a corruption scandal. The city manager Robert Rizzo was making $800,000 a year, and the Chief of Police Randy Adams was making $457,000 a year much more than even the Chief of Police of the Los Angeles Police Department makes, (Coolican, 2010). The citycouncil to include the mayor of the city were all part time employees at the municipality only making monthly meetings and small political tasks, however, each garnered around $100,000 annually. The Town was an of modest income and where not wealthy people, so the tax base did not support the pay of these city officials. Even though one is calm cool and collective one still must move at a fast pace in order to address the problem at hand. In a survival situation a person should not take any risk that is not necessary or helpful to his well being. If it is a large epidemic one should look for survivors around him for help. Even though one might want to survive on his own it is better to survive as a unit, and it will be more productive than doing it on his own[Dual Survival]. If one is assessing others around he should ask what they are feeling then checks his breathing, and look for any visible wounds on the body. • 6. Reflection and Analysis of Chaconne from Partita in D... My musical selection was Chaconne from Partita in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed by The Eroica Trio. I listened to this piece, lasting fourteen minutes and forty eight seconds, through the online classical music library. This piece was composed in 1720 during the Baroque Era and exhibits many features characteristic of Baroque music, which will be analyzed later in this paper. This chaconne is considered to be one of the most intense pieces of musicBach ever wrote, according to the La Jolla Music Society. In order to fully understand this piece a variety of information will be presented including a synopsis of Bach s life, background on the piece, a listening chart for this chaconne, the events occurring in society that impacted music and art in the Baroque Era and an analysis of the composition with reference to typical Baroque musical characteristics. Opaque: when some wavelengths of light can t pass through the lens, visible light is dimmed when it passes through, and the lens absorbs ultraviolet radiation. The reflecting telescope was helpful in solving some of these problems because they use mirrors with top coated surfaces which light does not enter. Mirrors don t sag because they can easily be supported unlike heavy lenses. Since light doesn t enter the mirror, the problems of different wavelengths, chromatic aberration and opaque do not occur. However, spherical aberration can still occur because when light enters a telescope with a spherical mirror at different distances from the mirror s center, the light comes into focus at different focal lengths. • 11. Comparing Socrates Apology And Phaedo Riya Roy HON 105 Will McNeil 04/15/14 Paper One Contemplating Death Both philosophers and non philosophers stand on a level of equality with respect to death. There are no experts on death, for there is nothing to know about it. Even those who study the death process have no edge on the rest of us. We are all equals in thinking about death, and we all begin and end thinking about it from a position of ignorance. One trouble with discussing this topic is the instinctive fear of death. We tend to avoid death in our thoughts and actions. However, if we could forget our fears for a minute, we could see more clearly how interesting the concept actually is from a more detached point of view. One of the most interesting views on death comes from an ancient Greek philosopher, Socrates. In the texts that are going to be analyzed in this essay, Apology and Phaedo, are the retellings of words and thoughts of Socrates by Plato, a pupil and admirer of Socrates. Both texts lecture about the topic of death and though both are the thoughts of Socrates at different times of his life, they have similar and contrasting views on the outlook of death. The Apology is the most authentic account that has been preserved of Socrates defense of himself as it was presented before the Athenian Council. Socrates accusers are poets, craftsmen, politicians and orators who accuse him of corrupting the youth by making them lose confidence in the government that has jurisdiction over them. Two million people were forced to evacuate from the cities to the countryside in which they would undertake agriculture work. The Khmer Rouge s goal was to create a rural, classless society and would force people to work in the fields for more than 12 hours a day without adequate rest or food. The Khmer Rouge placed a ban on family relationships and began an aggressive campaign to brainwash children and encourage them to spy on their parents. The children were taught to report their parents to authorities and turn in their parents as enemies of the state. Following their coming into power and the evacuations of the citizens, the Khmer Rouge turned its sights on the people in its own organization. The Khmer Rouge soon claimed that only pure people were qualified to build their revolution. They arrested and killed thousands of their soldiers, military officers and civil servants. In the next three years, the Khmer Rouge would ban religious practice and abolish money, markets, and private property. School, hospital, shops, offices, and monasteries were closed. • 28. A World That Madeline Foo Is Tired Of An Artificial... 2092. A world that Madeline Foo is tired of. Firstly, she is tired of being in an artificial environment. The plastic grass that was painted four times a year, the artificial trees that were programmed to grow five centimetres a year. They were all fake. They cannot photosynthesize and transpire nor can they produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. This showed the advancement in technology of this world but it was reflected no more than a decaying city to Madeline. Secondly, self centred was just one of the many few adjectives that Madeline used to describe her race. Kampong spirit and helping out one another in need? It was all but a fantasy. Reality was much harsher. Humans of today are too preoccupied with getting the latest technology and looking good to notice what is going on around them. Madeline found humans no better than automatons programmed to wake up, work, eat and sleep. They are hollow shells with no heart to feel and this was the thing that Madeline hated the most. Humans have no feelings. They pursue pleasures without knowing what it was. They have no compassion, no empathy, especially so when treating animals. Madeline got to her main point. She never undergone cosmetic surgeries and treatment because of a very simple reason because animals were part of this; because of the horrible ordeal that animals are put through for people to produce such technology for human use. • 29. Trinitarian Baptismal Formula Baptism is introduced in the Gospels when John the Baptist begins his ministry as the forerunner of Jesus Christ. John s baptism was a baptism of repentance for Jews; he preached a simple message to the Jews that they were to repent of their sins in preparation for Kingdom of God and the coming of the Messiah. In Matthew 3:13 17, Jesuscomes down to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of Goddescending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. The Triune character and language raises a number of important questions. In what ways do the baptized relate to the mystery of the Triune God? Does it mean that they somehow appropriate the activities and energies of the Trinity? Do they bear the Triune name like a calling card or as a symbol of allegiance? What does it mean to be baptized into one the name which is multiple? How does this shape an understanding of the Christian life in the context of the church and the wider society? The rite implicitly poses these questions and other like them. Any claim we might make about naming God in baptism needs to be tested against the biblical and historical witness to the meaning, purpose and form of the baptismal rite. We turn now to a review of New Testament, early Christian, and subsequent historical perspectives. Scripture is the indispensable source for our knowledge of faith, yet we do not read it in a fundamentalist way. We realize that the authors of the New Testament books wrote at least two decades after Jesus death and resurrection. These writings thus give us direct access to the faith of the first Christian generations, and indirect access to the historical Jesus himself, but this recognition does not diminish their significance. The New Testament documents are both human documents and God s revelatory word to us. We come to discern the will of Christ through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Essay on The Moor in the Works of William Shakespeare The Sources and Representations of the Moor in the Works of Shakespeare One theme consistently reemployed throughout Shakespeare s plays is that of the Other. The Other is usually characterized as a character that is somehow separated, stigmatized, or noted as being different from the mainstream ideal. For the Elizabethan England of Shakespeare s time, it may have been a self defensive maneuver against the encroachment of something which threatened too close to home (Bartels 450). Bryant lists several methods used to employ this convention of the Other: race such as that of Shylock and Aaron, nationality as in Iachimo, bastardy such as the characters Don John and Edmund, social status such as that belonging to Iago, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether the term Moor had a definition of white or black, of pagan or Muslim religion, or area of origin seems to be interchangeable when one notes the differences between Shakespeare s four characters. Sources of the Elizabethan image of the Moor most likely came from sources such as classical descriptions, actual encounters, travel narratives, and literary conventions (Bartels 433). Why is the Moor prevalent during Shakespeare s time? What was the importance of or the sources for this new Other in English literature? Shakespeare uses the Moor as being characterized in several ways and used for varied dramatic purposes. In order to have a full understanding of the Moorish character in Shakespeare s works, one must look to history s relations and depictions of the Moor and how it influenced Shakespeare. Moors were characterized in Elizabethan England as being alternately or even simultaneously noble or monstrous, civil or savage. Being a different race meant, primarily, being an Other, non English, as well as non Christian (Braxton 8). The term Moor, as I have noted before, was fairly vague in definition. • 33. Looking Beyond the Surface at Raymond Carver s Cathedral It seems in life that we often look at things without really seeing them. Raymond Carver demonstrates in Cathedral that looking is associated to physical vision, but seeing involves a deeper level of commitment. The author is making the point when you put yourself into someone else s shoes and allow yourself to see things the way they see them, it can be the most rewarding and eyeopening experience. During the exposition, the narrator shows that he has no problems with eyesight and he is capable of looking. The narrator is not blind and thinks that because he can see he is better than Robert. Because of Robert s physical blindness the narrator thinks that he is not able to have any kind of normal life. The narrator believes that the ability to see is everything, and puts no effort into looking and seeing anything beyond the surface. He looks at his house, wife, television, and at Robert when he arrives. How ironic is it that Robert, the blind man, has the ability to see on a much deeper level than the narrator? For example, even though Robert cannot physically see the narrator s wife, he understands her a lot more than her husband. He has truly listened to her during the past ten years on the audiotapes she sends him. The only interactions shown between the narrator, the protagonist, and his wife are short exchanges in which he seems to get on her nerves. It is demonstrated in this conflict by Robert, the antagonist, that seeing involves a lot more than just looking. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fluid Resuscitation in Burn Patients Fluid resuscitation protocols and interventions have established guidelines for nursing care of burn patients in hospital settings. Although these protocols aid the nurse in making treatment decisions, the nurse must first understand the fluid pathophysiology of burns, the different fluid alternatives, the amount of fluid volume infusions allowed and their effects within the patient s body, as well as, any complications related to fluid resuscitation for burn patients. In addition, fluid resuscitation should be carefully and diligently monitored to ensure the main goal of therapy which is to attain adequate tissue perfusion while minimizing patient s complications. Understanding the fluid pathophysiology of burns Local and systemic inflammatory response occurs within the body due to fluid shifts from intravascular compartments into the interstitium caused by changes in capillary permeability. The body s specific response to burns directly correlates with the total body surface (TBSA) percentage affected. Patients with 25% TBSA burns experience an increase in generalized capillary permeability, at 30% TBSA burns patients are affected by a disruption on the cellular ion gradient lasting several days and requiring a longer hospitalization stay, and patients with 50% TBSA burns end up losing half of their fluid resuscitation volume due to increased leaks into the non thermally injured tissue (Diver). • 38. The Metabolic Rate Of Goldfish Introduction To determine the metabolic rate of a goldfish two different methods can be applied, direct or indirect calorimetry. Direct calorimetry analyzes the exothermic reaction when ATP is produced by measuring the amount of heat that is released. Meanwhile, indirect calorimetry measures the amount of carbon dioxide or oxygen because both are components of aerobic respiration, a process which repeatedly supplies more ATP to match the demands of metabolic rate of an organism. Evidently, metabolic rate is the cumulative sum of energy used by all the cells. Most of this energy comes from regulating homeostasis, locomotion and thermoregulation. On the other hand, ectotherms like goldfish have a slight difference in their metabolic rates because their internal temperature directly correlates with the temperature of their environment. For this reason, ectotherms use less energy because they do not need to worry about thermoregulation, maintaining constant body temperature. However, temperature, size, amount of light and stimulus are factors that can affect metabolism of goldfish. Thus, this experiment will measure the metabolic rate of goldfish through in direct calorimetry. Furthermore, the amount of oxygen in the chamber reveals the amount of cellular respiration of the organism. While also, test the effects of decreasing oxygen, and later increasing the heat on the metabolic rate of goldfish.
