The Negotiation Of Watkins s ( 2002 ) Framework
The following discussion will describe and analyse the negotiation utilising Watkins s (2002)
framework. This framework was chosen because it covers both the key tasks involved in the
negotiation process and separates these into preparation (away from the table) and execution (at the
table) situations. This is both an intuitive and holistic approach for reviewing a negotiation process.
Away from the Table At the Table Diagnosing the situation Analyse the structure of the negotiation
and develop hypotheses about counterparts interests and alternatives. Learn in order to test and hone
your hypotheses. Shaping the structure Shape who participates and how current negotiations are
linked to others. Work to set the agenda and frame what is at stake. Managing the process Plan how to
learn and influence counterparts perceptions of the bargaining range. Influence counterparts
perceptions of what is acceptable. Assessing the results Establish goals before going to the table.
Between sessions, evaluate how you are doing. Periodically assess what is happening so you can make
midcourse corrections. (Source: Watkins, 2002 p.29) Watkins (2002) argues that it is short sighted to
focus only on what happens at the negotiating table. The preparation undertaken away from the table
is critical for setting the platform for the negotiating session (Watkins, 2002; Falcao, 2012). Therefore,
it is critical to analyse the context, process, planning and other activities that occur away from the

Infrastructure Of Infrastructure And Infrastructure
Infrastructure
We are constantly surrounded by infrastructure assets. Infrastructure consists of all the assets that
countries require to enable its daily operations and orderly functions. Transportation, energy,
communications and water, are some of the infrastructure assets that serve as the backbone to our
society. While traveling this summer with my family, I realized just how far behind the U.S. is
compared to other parts of the world when it is considered one of the most advanced countries in the
world. I thought to myself... Why hasn t the U.S. invested in such projects? China spends 7% of its
GDP on infrastructure and India spends 5%. The U.S. spends just over 3%. As a result, U.S.
infrastructure now ranks 14th globally according to the World Economic Forum s infrastructure index.
In the current economic environment where interest rates are low and unemployment remains
elevated, a logical solution to stimulate growth would be to build, modernize, or replace our
infrastructure. Every 4 years, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) releases a Report Card
for America s Infrastructure that represents the condition and performance of the nation s
infrastructure. In 2013, the United States infrastructure grade was a D+. Although we recognize the
report is a little self serving, the statistics behind their research is compelling. According to the report:
the average age of the 84,000 dams in the country is 52 years old, one in nine of the nation s bridges

Johnny Cash and Luke Bryan Essay
Country music is one of the most popular genres of music throughout America. There are many
influential figures that have changed the way country music sounds, and how people interpret it. Two
important people who have made a huge impact on country music overtime are Johnny Cash and Luke
Bryan. From their early life, their career, and how society views them, they have opened the minds of
people and country musicians all over the country. Johnny Cash s songs help people to experience his
life growing up through the Great Depression and how people lived back then. Through Luke Bryan s
songs people could understand what life was like for Luke growing up in Georgia and all the
hardships he faced. Johnny Cash and Luke Bryan are two of the many ... Show more content on

This was a huge upset to Johnny. Especially since his father, Ray Cash, blamed Johnny for Jack s
death. In Edward Willet s The Man in Black he states, Ray told him bluntly that he should of died
rather than his faithful brother. This quote shows how his father made Johnny feel like it was his fault.
To try and deal with his emotions, he started to write. He really started to write how he was feeling. In
spite of this, the tragedy, his fathers accusation, and his own guilt had one positive outcome: it s what
made his creativity in his songs (Neimark 36). His early life growing up through the Great Depression
and all the hardships he faced, were really expressed in the songs that he wrote and performed for
people. This really let people have an inside look on what life was like for people back then.
Luke Bryan was born and raised in Leesburg, Georgia on July 17, 1976 ( Luke Bryan Biography ). His
childhood consisted of hunting, fishing, helping his father with his local business, and singing ( Luke
Bryan Biography ). Supporting his music talent, his family bought him a guitar when he was 14 years
old ( Artists: Luke Bryan ). When Luke and his mother would drive into town to shop, his mother
would encourage him to sing George Strait over and over ( Luke Bryan Biography ). By the age of 15
he started entertaining a small crowd at a local club ( Luke Bryan and Family ). He would go regularly
to sing at the club.

A Brief Note On The American Era Of Development
I.INTRODUCTION
We are living in the era of development where we have achieved a great advancement in the
technology. This technological advancement has also brought a rapid pace in the world of business.
The advancements in the way people access information, communicate with one another, and
complete tasks have allowed for flexibility in the workplace, but they have also subsided the
distinction between works, family and their social life. Employers expect more output from staff, and
employees are increasingly putting additional pressure on themselves to achieve greater results. For
excessive pressures employees are facing imbalance work life which is creating impact on their
standard of living and quality of life. Eventually, employees are losing their interest on their work. So,
organization is getting less output from their employees. This overall situation can bring a mess in the
performance of the employees which will lead to failure in achieving company s goal. So, managers
have to perform a great role for bringing balance in the work so that employees can have a healthy
work life and organization can get their expected benefit from their employees. II.WORK LIFE
BALANCE
Work Life Balance does not mean to create an equal balance. It is not anything like trying to schedule
an equal number of hours for each of the different work of workplace and personal activities. This is
usually unrewarding and unrealistic. Life is and should be more seamless than that.

Pathological Gambling In The Uk
According to national surveys, 73% of British adults wagered on gambling activities (including
National Lottery) in 2010 [2]. In some instances, this behaviour can become problematic and is
characterised by persistent gambling that precedes gambling related harms [6]. Whilst personal
accounts of disordered gambling behaviour and harms related to specific gambling products have
garnered a large amount of media exposure and research interest in the UK, the provision and
understanding of treatment seeking behaviour has received less attention. Conservative estimates
indicate that approximately 1% of the UK population report gambling behaviour that warrants a
diagnosis of either pathological gambling (ICD 10, [7]) or gambling disorder (DSM 5, [5]) ... Show

figures will provide a timely update on population level gambling involvement. We can also identify
which demographic groups are more vulnerable to disordered gambling, creating the opportunity for

gambling related harm endured by the gamblers themselves, and those close to

Alcoholism Outline
Alcoholism is a pattern of alcohol use that is when people continue to use alcohol even though it may
cause you to have different problems. Alcohol causes many health issues and can cause you to harm
other people. Some people start to binge drink a pattern of drinking where a male consumes five or

Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby
July 15/2015
As I began reading the novel The Great Gatsby I was introduced to many important characters. First
off I met Nick Carraway the self proclaimed narrator of the story. Nick is a young man who moved
from Minnesota to the city of New York to learn the bond business. I learned that Nick studied at Yale
and served time in World War One. Nick describes himself as an honest man, who does not judge onto
others however contradicts himself when he says he is highly moral and has a stronger dignity than
others. Nicks character really intrigues me because although what he says about his personality, I
believe by the end of the novel he will be changed man and become a different person. This can be
perceived early on because in chapter two he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is described as a beautiful young woman. Born and raised in Louisville Kentucky, Daisy was
wealthy and rich from childhood. Nick describes her as charming yet shallow. Much like the other
characters and society in New York, Daisy is careless and only cares about money and power. Thus
when she married her husband Tom she was aware of his wealth and power. Honestly, in all opinions
Daisys character makes me mad. Not only is she a selfish person she is also very materialistic, it is
hard to believe that this is Gatsbys love. Lastly, the character I am most intrigued by is the mysterious
Jay Gatsby. For some reason, Gatsby has become my favourite character. Maybe it is because of the
extravagant parties he throws, or maybe it is because of his mystery, however all I know is I have
become entrapped in Gatsby. For the first chapters of the book Gatsby is mentioned by others but is
not present. Many rumours and gossip circle about Gatsby, he could even be described as type of
celebrity . He can be told as a young man around thirty years old living the American dream . He is
wealthy, and is among the new money members in long island. Gatsby has great hopes and desires yet

Why Is Montresor Wrong
Has someone ever done something to you that angered you? Louis L Armour states Anger is a killing
thing. It kills the man who angers, for each rage leaves him less than he had before it takes something
from him . In the story Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, the main character, Montresor, kills
his friend because fortunato did him wrong. Nemo me impune lacessit (Poe 289), says No one attacks
me with impunity . This is the cause of Montresor s actions. In this story Montresor lures his friend
into a cell, where he starves him to death as revenge for being insulted. This punishment is far too
harsh for such a little crime. Although Montresor felt bad after the death of his friend, it does not
change the cruelness, hatred, and anger he holds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the story, Montresor states Let us be gone (Poe 292), merely mocking Fortunato before his
death. As you can see, Montresor was cruel to Fortunato, even during the process of murdering him.
Although he had said something this mean, Montresor could not stop. He mocked fortunato with cruel
his voice, and laughed as he suffered. Not only is Montresor cruel, but he is full of hatred. In the story,
Montresor says The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured
upon insult, I vowed revenge (Poe 286). This obviously shows the hatred Montresor holds, and the
lengths he will go to get revenge. This also shows that Fortunato had done something to him, thus
giving him a reason to hate Fortunato. Another part of the story showing Montresor this way is when
he says, I must not only punish him, but punish with impunity (Poe

Primo Levi s Survival in Auschwitz Essay
Sarah Johnson
Personal Response to Survival in Auschwitz
Why is the pain of every day translated so constantly into our dreams, in the ever repeated scene of the
unlistened to story (Levi, p 60)? As I read this quote in my book, I highlighted it and wrote in the
margin foreshadowing . I feel confident that these dreams signified just that; that the author (amongst
the other survivors) would forever re live those horrors and try tell their stories...and no one listens.
The poem at the beginning of the book, Survival in Auschwitz, by Primo Levi, warns us of just this
and curses us should we fail to listen. It is imperative that we a global community never forget and
forever respect the struggle. I believe that this feeling, of sharing his ... Show more content on

We would think this to a reasonable response, however Levi goes on to educate otherwise. Kuhn is out
of his senses. Does he not see...Beppo, who is twenty years old and is going to the gas chamber the
day after tomorrow and knows it...? If I was God, I would spit at Kuhn s prayer (p129). I thought that
Levi s response to Kuhn s prayer was extreme at first, for isn t it customary to give thanks for good
fortune? But then as I reflected on this, Levi was absolutely correct. How dare one man thank God for
living another day when the man beside him has been condemned? There is no rhyme or reason to it,
there is no why in the Lager. It is impossible for them at the time to understand, which is why the law
of the camp was do not think . How can we begin to fathom now the how s or why s? It doesn t make
sense. Who wants to listen to a story that doesn t make any sense and acknowledge that it could
happen all over again?
Sometimes, we love to hear the story of a tragedy. For example, some of the most well liked tragedies
of all time include Gone with the Wind, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, many of Shakespeare s plays,
and a Streetcar Named Desire. These are not only stories though; they have their sadness but
throughout there is also hope and there are also morals, these are things to gain by these stories. The
story the Levi needs to share with us has no hope, it has no moral storyline that we can learn from

Dna Profiling Research Paper
Indeed DNA profiling has rapidly transform the field of forensics. DNA profiling is the scientific
analysis of evidence for crime scene investigation and other legal proceedings. DNA profiling is
mostly used by forensic scientists and crime lab technicians. To identify criminals and victims using
trace evidence like hair or skin samples. To produce a DNA profile, scientists compare sequences in
the genome that vary from person to person. The typical steps in DNA profiling are DNA samples are
isolated from the crime scene, suspect, victims, or other evidence. The next selected sequences from
each DNA sample are amplified (copied many times) to produce a large sample of DNA fragments.
Finally the amplified DNA regions are compared using a gel. All together, these steps provide data
about which samples are from the same individual and which sample is unique.
DNA profiling can also be used to compare the DNA of a mother, her child, and the purported father

The Syrian Civil War Is A Continuing International Conflict
The Syrian Civil War is a continuing international conflict caused by the backlash of President Bashar
al Assad s government. In early 2011, the Arab Spring protests sparked nationwide protests against the
government. The protest gradually morphed into armed rebellion. While the civil unrest grew, many
native Syrians fled their homeland for the protection and safety of their families. Over two million
Syrians are estimated to be living in refugee camps in Turkey but many Syrians who traveled to other
countries were told that they could only stay for a temporary amount of time. One country that opened
its doors to the refugees is Germany, German Chancellor, Angela Merkel remarked that it was a
fundamental right to asylum for the politically persecuted knows no upper limit; that also goes for
refugees who come to us from hell of a civil war. While Germany and other northern European
countries seems like a haven for the Syrian refugees, the path there is long, crossing into other
countries that are less than welcoming of the refugees, like Hungary. European countries need to find
humanitarian ways to help the Syrian refugees. Currently, the Syrian refugees can be seen as a nation
of people. This nation is in crisis and hundreds of thousands of people are putting themselves in
danger to escape a war torn country. The Syrian refugees have met with many road block when it

Doppler Effect
Doppler effect
The Doppler effect, named after Christian Doppler, is the change in frequency and wavelength of a
wave as perceived by an observer moving relative to the source of the waves. For waves that
propagate in a wave medium, such as sound waves, the velocity of the observer and of the source are
relative to the medium in which the waves are transmitted. The total Doppler effect may therefore
result from motion of the source, motion of the observer, or motion of the medium. Each of these
effects is analysed separately. For waves which do not require a medium, such as light or gravity in
special relativity, only the relative difference in velocity between the observer and the source needs to
be considered.

A source of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned previously, these two equations are only accurate to a first order approximation.
However, they work reasonably well in the case considered by Doppler, i.e. when the speed between
the source and receiver is slow relative to the speed of the waves involved and the distance between
the source and receiver is large relative to the wavelength of the waves. If either of these two
approximations are violated, the formulae are no longer accurate.
Analysis
It is important to realize that the frequency of the sounds that the source emits does not actually
change. To understand what happens, consider the following analogy. Someone throws one ball every
second in a man s direction. Assume that balls travel with constant velocity. If the thrower is
stationary, the man will receive one ball every second. However, if the thrower is moving towards the
man, he will receive balls more frequently because the balls will be less spaced out. The converse is
true if the thrower is moving away from the man. So it is actually the wavelength which is affected; as
a consequence, the perceived frequency is also affected. It may also be said that the velocity of the
wave remains constant whereas wavelength changes; hence frequency also changes.
If the moving source is emitting waves through a medium with an actual frequency f0, then an
observer stationary relative to the medium detects waves with a frequency f given by [pic]which can

Skin Pigmentation Disorders
Skin pigmentation disorders are often caused by sunlight, it causes an increase in the production of
cells known as melanocytes that increase melanin in the skin, thus turning the skin darker. These dark
skin patches are known as brown spots, age spots, dark spots, sun spots and liver spots.
brown spots
Brown spots generally appear on exposed skin areas like the face, back, neck, chest, shoulders and
hands. Some of the main causes of brown spots are sun exposure, aging, and genetics. Factors like
stress, pregnancy, vitamin deficiencies, and weak liver functioning may also contribute to this
problem.
The spots are usually harmless, but many consider them unattractive. To lighten brown spots, you can
try a few easy and natural home treatments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can also add some honey. Apply this solution on your brown spots and wash it off after a few
minutes. Do this once daily for a few days or until you get positive results.
5. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has healing properties and aids skin regeneration. So, it is excellent for getting rid of brown
spots, especially when caused by sun exposure.
Gently rub fresh aloe vera gel on the spots. Leave it on for about 30 minutes before washing the area
with cold water. Repeat twice daily and within a month you should notice improvement. If fresh aloe
vera gel is not available, you can opt for aloe vera juice that you can readily buy from the market.

Sandalwood is an anti aging agent and an antiseptic that can helps reduce hyperpigmentation and get
rid of brown spots.
You can make homemade pack with two tablespoons of sandalwood powder, two teaspoons of rose
water, and one teaspoon each of glycerin and lemon juice. Apply this pack on the spots and allow it to
dry naturally. Use cold water to wash it off. Repeat a few times a week until your brown spots
disappear. Also, massage the affected area with a few drops of sandalwood oil mixed in one

Immigration Policy And The Fight Against Illegal...
I have chosen to translate a legal text originating from France for this assignment, specifically, LOI n°
2003 1119 du 26 novembre 2003 relative à la maßtrise de l immigration, au séjour des étrangers en
France et à la nationalité. This Law aims to ensure the generous welcome of immigrants and to
strengthen the fight against illegal immigration rings without which a proper welcome cannot be
extended to immigrants . It reformed in particular the double penalty system and made it a
requirement to take account of aliens real integration into French society. I chose this text because

Professor Compagnoni effectively outlined the characteristics of different legal systems in Class IV,
and rereading her class slides was helpful in understanding the subtleties of legal system associated
with my source text, French Civil Law, based on the Napoleonic code (code civil of 1804). I then
related that to the legal system as it functions in Canada, making note of the most prominent
differences, and being cognizant of those as I embarked upon my translation. N.B.: In my view, the
term legal system refers to the nature and content of the law generally, and the structures and methods
whereby it is legislated upon, adjudicated upon and administered, within a given jurisdiction.
Common law and civil law legal traditions share similar social objectives (individualism, liberalism
and personal rights), but they diverge in several key areas. In terms of understanding how legal
systems intertwine here in Canada, all of the provinces and territories, except Quebec, follow the
common law system. The Quebec Act of 1774 made Canada a bijural country (which means it has two
types of law). Outside of Quebec, private law is governed by the common law, and in Quebec, private
law is governed by the French Code

The Piracy of Privacy
Throughout history the world has seen significant decreases in privacies. Lately in the United States of
America, many citizens have expressed concern with the government s overreach in personal privacy.
The National Security Agency and other government administrations have been criticized for their
operations. With much criticism, the nation has been seeing a decrease in social networking users and
an increase in hacking abilities amongst citizens. Many have questioned how farther the government
and businesses will go but this can only be told through time.
During the Cold War, at the height of the Red Scare FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover conducted mass
clandestine operations on US citizens. Even before he became director of the FBI, Hoover was
conducting secret intelligence operations against U.S. citizens he suspected were anarchists, radical
leftists or communists. (NPR) The specifics of these programs were not completely released to
Congress or even the Supreme Court for rulings and oversight. Many politicians, journalists and
everyday citizens were subject to these bugs which included wiretapping, stalking and finding your
day to day activities. These spying techniques relate with current internet operations in that the
government is able to track, see and hear everything we do, without our knowledge. On May 17th,
2013 the Washington Post reported that the Department of Justice and the FBI were conducting

Mindfulness Meditation Research Papers
Okay, so you ve heard about meditation, and you ve heard that it can be very beneficial to your health
and wellbeing, helping you to relax and find peace and tranquility. But you re also wondering what
different types of meditation there are, because you want to make an informed decision on the type of
meditation that is most suitable for you.
Breath Awareness
This is probably the easiest form of meditation, yet it can be extremely profound. All you have to do is
relax in a comfortable position (either sat upright or lying down), with your eyes either open or closed,
and just gently become aware of your breathing, without trying to change it. You can even practice

This simple but constant repetition of the sound will allow the other parts of your mind to gradually

Traditionally, meditators have used specific mantra with specific meanings, but it really doesn t matter
what you use as long as you find it comfortable to repeat. For me personally, I use the meaningless
sound oowaa , which I repeat at a constant rhythm like oowaaoowaaoowaaoowaa , and so on.
Mindfulness Meditation
This involves becoming deeply aware of what actually IS in the present moment. This can be
anything. For example, if you have your eyes open you could become totally visually aware of your
immediate surroundings, plus any sounds too. If you have your eyes closed, you could become aware
of aspects of your body, such as your breathing, your posture, your feeling of relaxation (or tension),
plus even being aware of any thoughts that may naturally arise.
Walking Meditation
This is really a form of mindfulness meditation that you do while walking. You simply become as
aware as possible of the process of walking. In fact, you can do this with any process, such as making
a cup of tea or doing the washing up. Just let the action fully fill your

The Historical Importance Of Hamlet By William Shakespeare
To be or not to be? That is the question that has passed over the lips of countless actors playing
Hamlet in the last four centuries on stage and screen. As an English poet, playwright and actor born in
the 16th centuries, William Shakespeare must be the undeniable greatest writer of his time. Even
though centuries passed, people never forgot his unique language and those vivid characters he
created. But as more advanced technique and new knowledge access our daily life and studies
nowadays, some might think the remain place for Shakespeare that has been kept for hundreds of
years seems to be unnecessary. However, the modern recomposed works of Shakespeare has proved
that his place in the modern society can still sustain steady for a long period of time.
Looking back at the 16th centuries, Shakespeare was one of the most important representative of
literature and drama during the time of the Renaissance. All of his personal thoughts and the figures he
created cannot leave the major historical themes of the Renaissance, which is the progress of
humanism, secularism and individualism. The society in the plays were based on the life and
community during this period of time. Identically, the character s personality and their attitude of
matters were the reflection of life during the Renaissance, and so does Shakespeare. Their clothings,

Hp Has An Edge On Human Resource
Since 1939 set up by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, HP has provided worldwide customers personal
computers, computer peripherals, and date and Internet services. The company became the No.1 PC
manufacturer in 2007 and held the first rank for several years. Currently, HP is still one of the leading
companies in the computer manufacturing industry. In 2014, HP reports a net revenue of 111.5 billion,
decreased by 1% from 112.3 billion of 2013. HP s four main businesses, which are personal systems,
printing, enterprise group, and enterprise service, account for 96.4% of the total net revenue (See
Appendix I). SWOT Strength Compared with other competitors, HP has an edge on human resource
(Enderle, 2013). Wright, McMahan and McWilliams (1994) stated that human resources always were
a potential source of sustained competitive advantage, if they were valuable, rare, inimitable, and non
substitutable. Technically, the CHRO of HP uses human resource matric analysis and HR science in
management. In practice, human resource is viewed as a strategic resource, not just a kind of
equipment that can be sold and bought. Being respected and well treated, employees in HP hold a
relatively higher loyalty. According to Enderle (2013), HP is enjoying some of the lowest employee
turnover number in the industry. Low turnover rate on workers of production lines means that HP can
save money on recruiting and training and that skilled workers guarantee a high level of productivity.

MLB Salary Cap Analysis
Three out of four of the most popular sports in America all have salary caps in their organization.
Salary caps are meant to keep the league competitive, control cost and increase overall league
revenues. Sports that are seen as more competitive and fun to watch will boost tv ratings which will
then lead to higher profits from their sales and advertisement. Without a salary cap, big named teams
that are popular and successful will have more money for free agency to stack their team, since they
can make the best offers. In the MLB there is not a salary cap, which puts teams like the New York
Yankees or the Los Angeles Dodgers that have more money than other teams in an advantage. You can
see what teams will be successful in the MLB before the

Modern Conventional Psychiatry ( Kraepelin )
A psychotic condition, or a state of psychosis, is where an individual begins to lose touch with reality
by experiencing hallucinations and delusions, and believes them to be real when in fact they are not
(Freudenreich, Weiss, Goff, 2008; APA, 2013; Darton, 2013; NHS, 2014; MedlinePlus, 2015). Modern
conventional psychiatry (Kraepelin, 1987; Shorter, 1992, 1997; Alexander Selesnick, 1966) uses a
predominately biomedical approach to the diagnoses of mental health conditions, which is particularly
so for patients of psychotic conditions (Hunter MacAlpine, 1963; Mayer Gross, Slater, Roth, 1975;
Guze, 1989; Shorter, 1997). The most recently revised diagnostic criteria for the psychiatric diagnoses
can be found in the DSM V (APA, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for the drug treatment approach to continue, psychotic conditions must be approached using a
biomedical perspective.
But despite all the influential evidence for this biomedical approach, it is important to note that it is it
is not without its flaws (Read, Bentall, Fosse, 2009). For instance, there is no robust evidence for any
genetic cause (Read, 2004; Joseph, 2006; Sanders et.al, 2008; Hamilton, 2008; Bentall, 2009), with
the evidence for drug intervention argued to be just as questionable (Jones et.al, 2006; Newcomer
et.al, 2004; Guo et.al, 2006; Bobes et.al, 2007; Sikich et.al, 2008). Overall, the biomedical psychiatric
approach to the treatment of psychosis and madness is incomplete and problematic.
The movement of ant psychiatry (Cooper, 1967; Roth, 1973) and the debate of as to whether mental
illness is actually a myth (Szasz, 1972), presents even more concern over the status and usefulness of
psychiatric diagnosis. There is also a huge debate as to whether labelling a patient with a psychiatric
diagnosis for a psychotic condition, and therefore an illness, is not in the patients best interests and is
actually more for the benefit of the psychiatrist (Parsons, 1951, 1972; Foucault, 1973; Conrad, 1992;
Shilling, 2002; Padamsee, 2011). This is especially a concern as some views will argue that psychosis
and madness need not be regarded as an illness, like

need to decide whether to use a parallel or a series circuit, we will choose a circuit type based on how
long the battery lasts and which circuit has the most power. We will also need to find the most suitable
places to put the components.
Manufacturing to be able to manufacture and create the designs we have produced, also each part of
the final product should be fully functional and contribute towards the finished product.
The main desired outcome would be to finish the green powered car with plenty of time to spare so we

Discussion Of Honesty In Shakespeare s Othello
People can have anything they so desire, that is, if they are willing to sacrifice something in return.
William Shakespeare s play Othello raises the question as to whether honesty is truly the best policy,
and if lying is truly okay. Throughout the story, the character Iago is portrayed as someone who is
manipulative and dishonest, while under the guise of being an honest person, Honest Iago.
Desdemona, wife to Venetian Moor general, Othello, remains an honest person even while being
accused of being a deceitful liar. The benefits and drawbacks to both lying and speaking the truth clash
with one another resulting in having
The benefit to the usage of deceit can be exemplified in the main antagonist, Iago. Throughout the

Desdemona contrasts Iago s character almost entirely. Often telling the truth and never lying
throughout the entirety of the play except for a single instance. She speaks her mind when testifying
for her marriage with Othello when her father tries to have Othello condemned for stealing his
daughter. The honesty pays off as Desdemona s father has to come to terms with the outcome and
accept what has happened. Like everyone else, she is ignorant to Iago s plot of getting revenge against
Othello and taking Cassio s position of lieutenant for himself. From the very beginning of the play
Desdemona s honest nature is revealed before the audience. An example of this is when she is brought
before the Duke of Venice and her father on the case of her elopement with Othello. She speaks her
mind and reveals her conflict on her loyalties to her father and her loyalties to Othello. In the end
stating that she chooses Othello while believing that she owes her father for her life and education, she

Law Enforcement Officer
Why is anyone considered a hero? Well one person who pops right into my mind is our law
enforcement officers. In fact, they are constantly looking fear in the face right here at our home. As a
matter of fact, the typical hero everyone thinks of is our service men and women, but think about the
men and women who you call when there s a robbery, or a disturbance, or someone is slinging dope
on the street. You don t call the national guard, or the marines you dial 911.
First, let s look at what a police officer must go through on a daily basis. Sure, some cops just answer
domestic disturbances, whereas Phil, a drunk and disorderly man, is throwing the handset phone at his
wife and threatening her life, who does she call? Not the military, no she ... Show more content on

In return, the gang may now send goons to take out the officer sitting in his patrol car, or send them
after his family. Meanwhile, police officers are recommended to not carry photos in their wallets with
them for these specific purposes. The job of a police officer is never easy. In return, they should be
shown the respect they deserve.
My final point I d like to make is all of the situations the officer goes through on the job causes a lot of
stress. The officer may bring these horrible moods home and argue with his or her spouse or he or she
may take it out on the kid. With the parent never home this neglects the kid from his or her parent. The
quality time that child is required is stripped of him, when a parent straps on their utility belt and
badge. Being a police officers has its ups and downs, many people s lives can fall apart because of
their career.
In conclusion, I believe all of these traits consequently, make a police officer a hero. They fight crime,
deals with sometimes unbearable amounts of stress, and ranking bears more vigorous training. All of
these traits make men and women of law enforcement, America s domestic heroes. We should be
grateful 911 is available for calling because who else is going to help you when

The Fashion Choices People Make Should Not Define Who They...
The fashion choices people make should not define who they are. People should be judged based on
their actions and not by their fashion choices. Passing judgement based on looks can hurt others and
cause issues in society. Some people are required to dress in a certain fashion, but that does not
determine whether they are good or bad. I chose this argument topic because it involves my major in
fashion and also an issue for which I can relate. The study of fashion and sociology can relate in some
ways, therefore, this would be an interesting argumentative research topic.
The first key point that I can use in my essay would be that children, especially teenagers, are judge by
their peers based on their fashion choices. This claim supports my argument by showing that teenagers
that are judged harshly, often feel forced to dress a certain way to be accepted. The second key point
that I can use is that people of different cultures are expected to behave a certain way or have certain
beliefs based on their attire. This key point supports my argument to show that stereotyping people
based in their culture can cause result in issues within society. The last key point that I can use is that
fashion choices express how someone feels and not how they are. Someone s style of fashion can
change at any time or frequency, depending on how he or she feels at certain times, or in a specific
situation.
The audience that will be reading my essay will be my instructor or anyone else that is

How Did The Renaissance Contribute To The Development Of...
Medicine has become so advanced in the previous centuries that it is a wonder how the medical
discoveries of today have been fueled by those made during the Renaissance. As the mindset of those
living in Europe during that time changed from religion to self discovery, medical research began to
expand and grow to a more scientific approach. Though several were unable to read, they became
more aware of themselves and humanity compared to their earlier religious views on life, causing
them to take a closer look at the human anatomy. During the English Renaissance, physicians began to
advance the scientific study of medicine leading to the development of modern medical practices, and
making a more profound impact than previous eras.

The citizens of today are living well beyond their fifties, and some are even living past their nineties.
As more and more citizens began to discover different aspects of life, their approach to medicine
began to change as it neared the end of the Medieval Era.
Though the Church still controlled most hospitals, physicians began to research and experiment with
human anatomy. Before, dissections would be made using animals instead of humans. Soon their
practices were dispelled by a physician, Andreas Vesalius. Vesalius conducted his own anatomical
dissections on human cadavers and found that Galen s teaching [...] did not always apply to humans
(Shane 26). At the time, dissecting a human was against the word of God, to do so would be unholy.
The Church began to reconsider after Vesalius findings but they still did not allow the dissection of
God fearing bodies. Instead, they allowed for the use of criminal bodies once they were executed, or
even while they were still alive as a source of torture ( History of Medicine 2011). Though some may
see the practice as inhumane, it opened up many windows for physicians, giving them a chance to go
against the Church but still being able to live with the word of God.
During the early modern period, hospitals in Europe s urban centers [...] came under the control of
nonreligious groups[...] At the same time, more positive ideas of keeping a person s good health and
being cured of sickness suggested that illness was

  • 2. The Negotiation Of Watkins s ( 2002 ) Framework The following discussion will describe and analyse the negotiation utilising Watkins s (2002) framework. This framework was chosen because it covers both the key tasks involved in the negotiation process and separates these into preparation (away from the table) and execution (at the table) situations. This is both an intuitive and holistic approach for reviewing a negotiation process. Away from the Table At the Table Diagnosing the situation Analyse the structure of the negotiation and develop hypotheses about counterparts interests and alternatives. Learn in order to test and hone your hypotheses. Shaping the structure Shape who participates and how current negotiations are linked to others. Work to set the agenda and frame what is at stake. Managing the process Plan how to learn and influence counterparts perceptions of the bargaining range. Influence counterparts perceptions of what is acceptable. Assessing the results Establish goals before going to the table. Between sessions, evaluate how you are doing. Periodically assess what is happening so you can make midcourse corrections. (Source: Watkins, 2002 p.29) Watkins (2002) argues that it is short sighted to focus only on what happens at the negotiating table. The preparation undertaken away from the table is critical for setting the platform for the negotiating session (Watkins, 2002; Falcao, 2012). Therefore, it is critical to analyse the context, process, planning and other activities that occur away from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Infrastructure Of Infrastructure And Infrastructure Infrastructure We are constantly surrounded by infrastructure assets. Infrastructure consists of all the assets that countries require to enable its daily operations and orderly functions. Transportation, energy, communications and water, are some of the infrastructure assets that serve as the backbone to our society. While traveling this summer with my family, I realized just how far behind the U.S. is compared to other parts of the world when it is considered one of the most advanced countries in the world. I thought to myself... Why hasn t the U.S. invested in such projects? China spends 7% of its GDP on infrastructure and India spends 5%. The U.S. spends just over 3%. As a result, U.S. infrastructure now ranks 14th globally according to the World Economic Forum s infrastructure index. In the current economic environment where interest rates are low and unemployment remains elevated, a logical solution to stimulate growth would be to build, modernize, or replace our infrastructure. Every 4 years, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) releases a Report Card for America s Infrastructure that represents the condition and performance of the nation s infrastructure. In 2013, the United States infrastructure grade was a D+. Although we recognize the report is a little self serving, the statistics behind their research is compelling. According to the report: the average age of the 84,000 dams in the country is 52 years old, one in nine of the nation s bridges are rated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From their early life, their career, and how society views them, they have opened the minds of people and country musicians all over the country. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was a huge upset to Johnny. Especially since his father, Ray Cash, blamed Johnny for Jack s death. In Edward Willet s The Man in Black he states, Ray told him bluntly that he should of died rather than his faithful brother. This quote shows how his father made Johnny feel like it was his fault. To try and deal with his emotions, he started to write. He really started to write how he was feeling. In spite of this, the tragedy, his fathers accusation, and his own guilt had one positive outcome: it s what made his creativity in his songs (Neimark 36). His early life growing up through the Great Depression and all the hardships he faced, were really expressed in the songs that he wrote and performed for people. This really let people have an inside look on what life was like for people back then. Luke Bryan was born and raised in Leesburg, Georgia on July 17, 1976 ( Luke Bryan Biography ). His childhood consisted of hunting, fishing, helping his father with his local business, and singing ( Luke Bryan Biography ). Supporting his music talent, his family bought him a guitar when he was 14 years old ( Artists: Luke Bryan ). When Luke and his mother would drive into town to shop, his mother would encourage him to sing George Strait over and over ( Luke Bryan Biography ). • 5. A Brief Note On The American Era Of Development I.INTRODUCTION We are living in the era of development where we have achieved a great advancement in the technology. This technological advancement has also brought a rapid pace in the world of business. The advancements in the way people access information, communicate with one another, and complete tasks have allowed for flexibility in the workplace, but they have also subsided the distinction between works, family and their social life. Employers expect more output from staff, and employees are increasingly putting additional pressure on themselves to achieve greater results. For excessive pressures employees are facing imbalance work life which is creating impact on their standard of living and quality of life. Eventually, employees are losing their interest on their work. So, organization is getting less output from their employees. This overall situation can bring a mess in the performance of the employees which will lead to failure in achieving company s goal. So, managers have to perform a great role for bringing balance in the work so that employees can have a healthy work life and organization can get their expected benefit from their employees. II.WORK LIFE BALANCE Work Life Balance does not mean to create an equal balance. • 8. Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby July 15/2015 As I began reading the novel The Great Gatsby I was introduced to many important characters. First off I met Nick Carraway the self proclaimed narrator of the story. Nick is a young man who moved from Minnesota to the city of New York to learn the bond business. I learned that Nick studied at Yale and served time in World War One. Nick describes himself as an honest man, who does not judge onto others however contradicts himself when he says he is highly moral and has a stronger dignity than others. Nicks character really intrigues me because although what he says about his personality, I believe by the end of the novel he will be changed man and become a different person. This can be perceived early on because in chapter two he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is described as a beautiful young woman. Much like the other characters and society in New York, Daisy is careless and only cares about money and power. Thus when she married her husband Tom she was aware of his wealth and power. Honestly, in all opinions Daisys character makes me mad. Not only is she a selfish person she is also very materialistic, it is hard to believe that this is Gatsbys love. Lastly, the character I am most intrigued by is the mysterious Jay Gatsby. For some reason, Gatsby has become my favourite character. Maybe it is because of the extravagant parties he throws, or maybe it is because of his mystery, however all I know is I have become entrapped in Gatsby. For the first chapters of the book Gatsby is mentioned by others but is not present. Many rumours and gossip circle about Gatsby, he could even be described as type of celebrity . In the story Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, the main character, Montresor, kills his friend because fortunato did him wrong. Nemo me impune lacessit (Poe 289), says No one attacks me with impunity . This is the cause of Montresor s actions. In this story Montresor lures his friend into a cell, where he starves him to death as revenge for being insulted. This punishment is far too harsh for such a little crime. In the story, Montresor says The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge (Poe 286). This obviously shows the hatred Montresor holds, and the lengths he will go to get revenge. This also shows that Fortunato had done something to him, thus giving him a reason to hate Fortunato. Another part of the story showing Montresor this way is when he says, I must not only punish him, but punish with impunity (Poe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Primo Levi s Survival in Auschwitz Essay Sarah Johnson Personal Response to Survival in Auschwitz Why is the pain of every day translated so constantly into our dreams, in the ever repeated scene of the unlistened to story (Levi, p 60)? I feel confident that these dreams signified just that; that the author (amongst the other survivors) would forever re live those horrors and try tell their stories...and no one listens. I thought that Levi s response to Kuhn s prayer was extreme at first, for isn t it customary to give thanks for good fortune? But then as I reflected on this, Levi was absolutely correct. For example, some of the most well liked tragedies of all time include Gone with the Wind, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, many of Shakespeare s plays, and a Streetcar Named Desire. These are not only stories though; they have their sadness but throughout there is also hope and there are also morals, these are things to gain by these stories. DNA profiling is the scientific analysis of evidence for crime scene investigation and other legal proceedings. DNA profiling is mostly used by forensic scientists and crime lab technicians. To identify criminals and victims using trace evidence like hair or skin samples. To produce a DNA profile, scientists compare sequences in the genome that vary from person to person. The typical steps in DNA profiling are DNA samples are isolated from the crime scene, suspect, victims, or other evidence. The next selected sequences from each DNA sample are amplified (copied many times) to produce a large sample of DNA fragments. Finally the amplified DNA regions are compared using a gel. All together, these steps provide data about which samples are from the same individual and which sample is unique. • 14. Doppler Effect Doppler effect The Doppler effect, named after Christian Doppler, is the change in frequency and wavelength of a wave as perceived by an observer moving relative to the source of the waves. For waves that propagate in a wave medium, such as sound waves, the velocity of the observer and of the source are relative to the medium in which the waves are transmitted. The total Doppler effect may therefore result from motion of the source, motion of the observer, or motion of the medium. Each of these effects is analysed separately. For waves which do not require a medium, such as light or gravity in special relativity, only the relative difference in velocity between the observer and the source needs to be considered. [pic] [pic] A source of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned previously, these two equations are only accurate to a first order approximation. However, they work reasonably well in the case considered by Doppler, i.e. when the speed between the source and receiver is slow relative to the speed of the waves involved and the distance between the source and receiver is large relative to the wavelength of the waves. If either of these two approximations are violated, the formulae are no longer accurate. Analysis It is important to realize that the frequency of the sounds that the source emits does not actually change. To understand what happens, consider the following analogy. Someone throws one ball every second in a man s direction. Assume that balls travel with constant velocity. If the thrower is stationary, the man will receive one ball every second. However, if the thrower is moving towards the man, he will receive balls more frequently because the balls will be less spaced out. The converse is true if the thrower is moving away from the man. So it is actually the wavelength which is affected; as a consequence, the perceived frequency is also affected. It may also be said that the velocity of the wave remains constant whereas wavelength changes; hence frequency also changes. If the moving source is emitting waves through a medium with an actual frequency f0, then an observer stationary relative to the medium detects waves with a frequency f given by [pic]which can be written ... Modern Conventional Psychiatry ( Kraepelin ) A psychotic condition, or a state of psychosis, is where an individual begins to lose touch with reality by experiencing hallucinations and delusions, and believes them to be real when in fact they are not (Freudenreich, Weiss, Goff, 2008; APA, 2013; Darton, 2013; NHS, 2014; MedlinePlus, 2015). Modern conventional psychiatry (Kraepelin, 1987; Shorter, 1992, 1997; Alexander Selesnick, 1966) uses a predominately biomedical approach to the diagnoses of mental health conditions, which is particularly so for patients of psychotic conditions (Hunter MacAlpine, 1963; Mayer Gross, Slater, Roth, 1975; Guze, 1989; Shorter, 1997). But despite all the influential evidence for this biomedical approach, it is important to note that it is it is not without its flaws (Read, Bentall, Fosse, 2009). For instance, there is no robust evidence for any genetic cause (Read, 2004; Joseph, 2006; Sanders et.al, 2008; Hamilton, 2008; Bentall, 2009), with the evidence for drug intervention argued to be just as questionable (Jones et.al, 2006; Newcomer et.al, 2004; Guo et.al, 2006; Bobes et.al, 2007; Sikich et.al, 2008). Overall, the biomedical psychiatric approach to the treatment of psychosis and madness is incomplete and problematic. The movement of ant psychiatry (Cooper, 1967; Roth, 1973) and the debate of as to whether mental illness is actually a myth (Szasz, 1972), presents even more concern over the status and usefulness of psychiatric diagnosis. There is also a huge debate as to whether labelling a patient with a psychiatric diagnosis for a psychotic condition, and therefore an illness, is not in the patients best interests and is actually more for the benefit of the psychiatrist (Parsons, 1951, 1972; Foucault, 1973; Conrad, 1992; Shilling, 2002; Padamsee, 2011). People should be judged based on their actions and not by their fashion choices. Passing judgement based on looks can hurt others and cause issues in society. Some people are required to dress in a certain fashion, but that does not determine whether they are good or bad. I chose this argument topic because it involves my major in fashion and also an issue for which I can relate. The study of fashion and sociology can relate in some ways, therefore, this would be an interesting argumentative research topic. The first key point that I can use in my essay would be that children, especially teenagers, are judge by their peers based on their fashion choices. This claim supports my argument by showing that teenagers that are judged harshly, often feel forced to dress a certain way to be accepted. The second key point that I can use is that people of different cultures are expected to behave a certain way or have certain beliefs based on their attire. This key point supports my argument to show that stereotyping people based in their culture can cause result in issues within society. The last key point that I can use is that fashion choices express how someone feels and not how they are. Someone s style of fashion can change at any time or frequency, depending on how he or she feels at certain times, or in a specific situation. The audience that will be reading my essay will be my instructor or anyone else that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Medicine has become so advanced in the previous centuries that it is a wonder how the medical discoveries of today have been fueled by those made during the Renaissance. As the mindset of those living in Europe during that time changed from religion to self discovery, medical research began to expand and grow to a more scientific approach. Though several were unable to read, they became more aware of themselves and humanity compared to their earlier religious views on life, causing them to take a closer look at the human anatomy. As more and more citizens began to discover different aspects of life, their approach to medicine began to change as it neared the end of the Medieval Era. Though the Church still controlled most hospitals, physicians began to research and experiment with human anatomy. Before, dissections would be made using animals instead of humans. Soon their practices were dispelled by a physician, Andreas Vesalius. Vesalius conducted his own anatomical dissections on human cadavers and found that Galen s teaching [...] did not always apply to humans (Shane 26). At the time, dissecting a human was against the word of God, to do so would be unholy. The Church began to reconsider after Vesalius findings but they still did not allow the dissection of God fearing bodies. Instead, they allowed for the use of criminal bodies once they were executed, or even while they were still alive as a source of torture ( History of Medicine 2011). Though some may see the practice as inhumane, it opened up many windows for physicians, giving them a chance to go against the Church but still being able to live with the word of God. During the early modern period, hospitals in Europe s urban centers [...] came under the control of nonreligious groups[...] At the same time, more positive ideas of keeping a person s good health and being cured of sickness suggested that illness was ...
