Porsche Changes Tack Essay
Porsche Changes Tack
Yes, of course, we have heard of shareholder value. But that does not change the fact that we put
customers first, then workers, then business partners, suppliers and dealers, and then shareholders. Dr.
Wendelin Wiedeking, CEO, Porsche, Die Zeit, April 17, 2005.
Porsche had always been different. Statements by Porsche leadership, like the one above, always made
Veselina (Vesi) Dinova nervous about the company s attitude about creating shareholder value. The
company was a paradox. Porsche s attitudes and activities were like that of a family owned firm, but it
had succeeded in creating substantial shareholder value for more than a decade. Porsche s CEO, Dr.
Wendelin Wiedeking, had been credited with clarity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Efficiency is not really critical because the firm s financial goals are not exclusively shareholder
oriented since they are constrained by the other stakeholders. In any case, stakeholder capitalism
assumes that long term loyal shareholders typically, controlling shareholders rather than the transient
portfolio investor should influence corporate strategy. Although both philosophies have their strengths
and weaknesses, two trends in recent years have led to an increasing focus on shareholder wealth.
First, as more of the non Anglo American markets have increasingly privatized their industries, the
shareholder wealth focus is seemingly needed to attract international capital from outside investors,
many of whom are from other countries. Second, and still quite controversial, many analysts believe
that shareholder based multinationals are increasingly dominating their global industry segments.
Porsche AG
I know exactly what I want and what must happen. I am the real one. You can be sure. Dr. Wendelin
Wiedeking
Porsche AG was a publicly traded, closely held, German based auto manufacturer. Porsche s President
and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, had returned the company to both status and
profitability since taking over the company in 1993. Wiedeking s background was in production, and
many had questioned whether he was the right man for the job. Immediately after taking over Porsche,
he had killed the 928 and 968 model platforms to reduce

Human Variables of Change Implementation Based on the results of the Employee Survey, Climate
Survey combined with the input of the CrysTel executive team the decision is to implement a Plan Do
Check Act (PDCA) change model. Though there are no specific rules associated with the model, it
does focus on a never ending cycle of transformation just as organizations or groups have cycles of
growth, stagnation and productivity. This cycle of transformation is an iterative process that requires
planning, testing, checking and acting on a continuous basis that propel an organization or group
Rothwell Sullivan McLean, (1995). It is specifically the fact that of the PDCA model of no set rules
and the never ending change cycle that make this model best candidate for creating the new change
culture for CrysTel. By the process being fluid CrysTel will be able to tailor the model to address the
needs of each department. The company will spend the first part of the process developing the
processes to identify and address variables and the inevitable resistance to change. To successfully
manage resistance to change CrysTel will first need to identify resistance which as cited in Atkinson,
P. (2005) The nature of resistance is that, generally speaking, we do not experience it actively and
publicly. Its presence is often displayed covertly, even passively. Once

The Triune God Of Christian Faith
Mary Ann Fatula s The Triune God of Christian Faith provides for the reader the inner life of God as
well as insight into the human reality. Fatula s writing draws the devotional discussion of the Trinity
as the present day effect of the Trinitarian faith is called to support attempts to articulate and live the
Trinitarian mystery. The Trinity in a human s life is the content of our definition of our human
meaning and for an infinite gift: love. Each of us has a desire for achieving meaning, for love, and for
wholeness. Fatula in her book develops the study of the divine persons and states the importance of
understanding what it is to be truly a person of both human and divine potential.
In the Christian faith triune God is very significant. Christian is Trinitarian, describing Jesus as the one
whom the Father anoints (christos) with the Spirit so that the Spirit may anoint our own lives (16).
Christians confess Jesus as the risen Lord of the universe, but is proclaimed to be inseparable from the
one who sent him, the one Jesus knew intimately as Abba, or dear Father. The ultimate paradox of
Christianity is Jesus. Having Jesus at its very center disclosed as the source, the meaning, and the
definitive answer to all of human longings causes this ultimate paradox. Fatula goes on to discuss, that
although Jesus is the triune God, many of the people would not identify this God as the living God we
actually experience in our own daily lives.

Those Three Wishes Judith Gorog Analysis
Have you ever wanted to get three wishes? Have you ever wanted your wishes to come true? In Those
Three Wishes By Judith Gorog, Melinda Alice gets her choice of three wishes form a magical snail.
Melinda is a greedy and selfish girl. No one liked Melinda very much because of her malicious
attitude. She was also very greedy and selfish. This flaw comes back to bite her in the end. In Those
Three Wishes, the theme is greed controls you. In the beginning of the story Melinda Alice runs into a
snail on the way to school. SHe was going early to study for a big test. Melinda being the rude person
she is wanted to step, and crush the snail. Right before she crushed him the snail said, I ll give you

Once Melinda made her first wish, she started to think of her other 2 wishes. Melinda thought of very
selfish wishes. She said, During the rest of the walk to school, Melinda was occupied with wonderful
ideas. She would have beautiful clothes. Wish number two, that I will always be perfectly dressed, and
she was just that. She did not wish for anything good for the world. She wished that she could be
better than everyone. She only thought for herself and she is very selfish for doing that. Her greed
controlled her actions. Perhaps the most obvious section where the theme is apparent is at the end of
the story. Melinda finally gets the repercussions of her greedy and selfish behavior. Once Melinda
realizes she had not studied for her test because she was too caught up with the snail she takes out her
anger at the snail. She then wishes, I wish I were dead. This is the ultimate payback for being greedy.
She was being very greedy throughout the story and finally she wishes she was dead and of course it
came true. Melinda let her greed overcome her and she payed for it. The theme of Those Three Wishes
is that greed can control you. Melinda gives us an example of this in the story. She acts in a greedy
and selfish way and she gets her payback. Melinda realizes the outcome of being greedy. Being greedy
gets you nowhere and the author gave us that theme through the story of Melinda. The author showed

Essay on Motorola Digital Strategy
Introduction
Motorola was first founded in 1928, making battery eliminators for household radios. In 1929 the
company designed and manufactured and car radios, then a new concept, and subsequent sales kept
the company afloat during the Great Depression of the 30s.
During the Second World War Motorola developed the Handie Talkie SCR536 handheld radio
transmitter and receiver, and icon of that conflict, and forefather of the mobile phone. In the 1970s,
together with AT T, Motorola started developing cellular networks, and in 1980 the company released

Another notable marketing efforts was Motorola s Lazy Phone series of adverts. These television
commercials, which were also later uploaded on YouTube, featured five different everyday scenarios
and how lazy smartphones don t improve user experience. The Nav with Touchless Control
commercial portrays a driver, in the middle of nowhere, that s running low on gas, and emphasizes the
benefits of Touchless voice control over fumbling with one s phone while driving.
The campaigns created a new image for Motorola, and were aimed at very specific markets. The Moto

aesthetic looking for products that were an extension of their lives and themselves. Motorola also gave
itself a youthful, quirky, yet cutting edge aesthetic, one that s in stark contrast with the likes of

Hedging Strategies For Minimizing The Underlying Risk Of...
This report is aimed at utilising hedging strategies to minimise the underlying risk of stock portfolio.
During our simulation, we mainly implemented two strategies to hedge down side risk, which were
protective and put straddle. First of all, a discussion about implementing such two strategies in the
trading process would be presented. After that, the outcome of our strategies would be analysed,
including the gross profit and the net profit. Finally, we are going to seek the arbitrage opportunities
based on the put call parity. However, we were not able to capture these opportunities as a result of
time restrictions. If no hedging strategies are used, it is likely to suffer a loss.

achieve such mission[不要了]. Before the start of this trading round, it is difficult to predict the
pattern of price. However, based on the previous two practice trading rounds, which the price trend is
downward, our group decided to adopt the protective put buying strategy at the beginning.. The
advantage of protective put buying is to provide limited loss and unlimited profit. Back to the trading

The Learning ( Or Behaviourist ) Approach
The learning (or behaviourist) approach, at its core, is about how experience affects our behaviour and
how we learn behaviours. This approach postulates that all humans are born as blank slates and we
become shaped by the environment that the person lives in. Behaviourism is concerned with the
observable characteristics of humankind; their behaviour. This approach dismisses any internal
workings because these workings are too subjective and difficult to observe; whereas observable
behaviour can be scientifically and objectively measured, so more concrete theories can be based off
the research undertaken into behaviour. Unsurprisingly, the behaviourist approach works closely with
the experimental branch of psychology, and it also works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process of this conditioning is associating a neutral stimulus (the bell) with a unconditioned
stimulus (the food) and unconditioned response (the salivation); this means that a stimulus in the
environment produces a behaviour that is innate, or natural no new behaviours have been learned, yet.
The neutral stimulus does not produce a response unless it is paired with the unconditioned stimulus at
the start of conditioning. During conditioning the stimulus that produces no response (i.e. neutral) is
associated with the unconditioned stimulus to the point it becomes a conditioned stimulus. Often, at
this stage, the unconditioned stimulus needs to be associated with the conditioned stimulus on many
occasions or trials for learning to take place. However, this is not always the case; if a neutral stimulus
produces sickness or ill health, then the association does not need to be strengthened over time,
because the response it produces is so violent. Now, the conditioned stimulus has been associated with
the unconditioned stimulus to the point where it can produce a conditioned response. This association
can then be generalized to other, similar objects; as was shown in the Little Albert experiment
performed by Watson, when the baby s fear of the white rat had been generalized to other similar furry
animals and

Essay On Binary Options
Since 2007 when trading in binary options were approved as valid financial instrument in the
mainstream financial market, they have gained unsurpassed popularity. Binary options are indeed high
risk transactions where predictions are made on the movement of the price within a particular
specified period. The payoff is either the asset or a huge loss. There are several trade types of binary
options but the boundary binary options are the most preferred.
Basics of Trading Boundary Binary Options

Measuring Volatility
Novices being introduced in Trading Boundary Binary Options might think they are risk free but they
are not. It is not even that easy as some may have led you to believe. However it cannot be that
gloomy after all. Trading Boundary binary Options revolve around the underlying asset and the nature
of the response generated by any major economic announcement forthcoming.
The importance of the underlying asset to the transaction is crucial and can be understood better by
measuring the volatility arising after an announcement. This volatility is measured by the Average
True Range. The average True Range discovered by the financial maverick J. Welles Wilder is merely
a technical analysis unpredictability pointer for goods or financial commodities. This is simply the
difference between the highest and the lowest bars while putting into consideration the gaps that lie in
between.
High volatility reflects heightened enthusiasm and can be reflected by wider boundaries and this
would be an ideal thing for a trader whose predictions were restrained inside the boundaries. Low
volatility means less trading enthusiasm and is characterized by narrower boundaries. This would be
sad news to any trader who was predicting a break out. Trader wishing to cash in on an In Boundary
Option would be disadvantaged by low volatility. A break out to the contrary would be an easy ride to
the bank as it only

Water Contamination Using The Filtration Process
Water contamination using the filtration process was observed on a smaller scale using liquid laundry
detergent, vegetable oil, and vinegar. These products were tested and observed for differences in color,
smell, and consistency. Three different kinds of water products from; tap water, Dasani water, to Fiji
bottled water were tested and observed using chemical test strips. This was to understand that bottled
water did not have a difference from regular tap water. When contaminates are introduced to the
elements and effect the water supply they can have an adverse effect on the human health system. The
water that we drink and use in our day to day lives is vital and understanding how to keep it clean is
the responsibility of all.
Introduction
Research of water quality is vital to our future, we must understand it and learn how to improve a
process in order to secure our future. Since the passage of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SWDA) by
the United States (US) Congress in 1974, the number of regulated contaminates has increased from an
initial 22 to currently 91 (venkatamaran, 2013) these standards developed by the SWDA help correct
the issues of contamination that we face today. Common household products found in everyone s
home, and common practices found in our crop fields introduce the contaminates to our water. The
water quality has an overall effect on our ecological system from the ocean, to the lakes found in our
backyards. This includes plant life, marshes,

The Powwow At The End Of The World Essay
When a central power comes in and dominates the surrounding land and people it is referred to as
colonization. In some cases it can lead to a positive outcome but more so than not it has a negative
repercussion. In Heart of Darkness, The Powwow at the End of the World, and Heritage, both the
colonizer and the colonized experience negative consequences that force them to change their views
on the world. Kurtz was a centralized character in Conrad s Heart of Darkness who began his
expedition as a trading post commander and ivory collector. Before they met, Kurtz was described to
Marlow as an idol by the Company s chief accountant. He is a very remarkable person. Further
questions elicited from him that Mr. Kurtz was at present in charge of a trading post, a very important

The Grand Coulee Dam and the reactors of Hanford mentioned in the poem suggests that the
European technological advances disrupted the traditions of the Indian tribe. The dam may have

prevented the salmon, a sacred animal to the tribe, from reaching them upstream. The reactors
produced many negative effects on the surrounding environment as well. When the Indian in the poem

salmon is able to swim back upstream, past the flooded cities, broken dams and abandoned reactors at

Judicial Misconduct Essay
Founders of the United States of America believed in providing the people of this great nation with a
fair, and impartial judicial system. The basic rights of the people, which are listed in the Bill of Rights,
needed to be respected and protected by the government. Abraham Lincoln once said Government of
the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth . Every part of the United
States government has a duty to protect the people that gave the government power, and one
organization in particular plays a very large role in this charge. The Judicial System of the United

The primary functions of lower courts consist of processing minor offenses but these courts will
sometimes process felonies as well, without sentencing the defendant. Major trial courts take the
processed felony cases and complete them; in major courts the defendants who are charged with
felony crimes mainly enter a plea of guilty or not guilty, which then leads to a trial (Neubauer, 2010).
The second component of our dual court system consists of appellate courts. In the U.S. judicial
system, a defendant found guilty in a trial court can normally appeal to a higher federal court. These
federal courts, or appellate courts, review decisions made by trial courts (Neubauer, 2010). Appellate
courts can be on the federal and state level, but do not hold trials or hear new evidence. These courts
consist of a judge, or a lawyer, or a group of either one, who read the transcript of the trial and
whether the previous decision correctly or incorrectly followed the law (Neubauer, 2010). Similar to
trial courts, the federal government and most states have made two different types of appellate courts:
intermediate, which hear all cases, and supreme courts, which can pick and choose the cases heard
(Neubauer, 2010). Even though there are many different types of courts within the judicial system of
the United States, the role of the judge stays constant throughout the majority of branches. Judges and
their duties in the courtroom are misunderstood, because of

Representations Of Queer Characters In Esmeralda De Noche Vos
As one of the most visibly queer characters in Esmeralda de noche vienes, Tito Vasconcelos multiple
appearances throughout the film can represent how queer identity is represented in Mexican society.
Vasconcelos is nameless throughout the entire film, as we see him show up in multiple spaces,
portraying different characters. He appears through various expressions, those ranging from appearing
as a feminine woman to a highly macho charro showing that queerness quietly exists everywhere in
Mexican society. The characters Vasconcelos plays range from a contrast between male and female
identity and even sometimes to be in between. Although he has many roles in this film, he is often left
in the background, without a speaking role or an introduction. Yet, Vasconcelos invisibility to other
characters in the film, and his strong presence to the viewer offers the audience a peek into how
queerness is taken and handled in Mexico.
In one instance that shows the characters outright neglect over Vasconcelos, follows the conversation
the judge has with Esmeralda about her relationship with a closeted gay man Jorge Luis. It is later
revealed that regardless of his gay identity, Esmeralda has sexual relations with Jorge Luis. The judge
proceeds to ask her if she is afraid of getting AIDS, to which she replies that they always take
precautionary measures. As the judge is interrogating her with a series of questions, of how sex works
in that relationship the camera pans out to

Cb Reflection
I grew up in a loving household, in East Los Angeles, California. At that time, my parents owned a
small fruit produce business in South Los Angeles. They spent most of their time outside of home
ensuring that everything went well. I remember feeling sad that my family did not have the privilege
to spend more time together like other family s did. Nonetheless, I understood that dad and mom could
not play and/or travel with me and my siblings because they were busy making ends meet. Although
we aspired for more family time, we learned to put our needs aside and to take care of one another.
Part of taking care of one another meant keeping certain information/issues to ourselves. Thus, me and
my family learned to deal with our own problems because we feared causing any type of anxiety,
anger, fear, etc. to family members. As a result, we did not create a safe space where family members
shared stressful issues that they were dealing with outside of home.
When I was dealing with bullying in middle and high school, I felt so lonely and broken. Not only was
I dealing with individuals who kept telling me that I was ugly, unworthy but I was also dealing with
the how to make the bullying stop. I was tired of feeling so much hate from others and from myself.

The Culture Of The Italian Cuisine

Cucina Italiano In the early history of many countries, food always plays an important part in the
development of the country and the economy as well. From starting out simple, the recipes evolve and
spread after being handed down and spoken to others. Food is what defines many cultures, and is able
to bring many people together in many cases. For example, food is what stands a major tradition in
many families, recipes being a secret between the members. This is one way that it plays in
importance in cultures. Italian culture differs from other cultures because the food plays a much more
important part. Italian cuisine has influenced many parts of their own culture, and other cultures
around the world. Food has always played a major part in three major aspects of Italian culture:
history, symbolism, and art.
The history of Italian cuisine revolves around the evolution of what people were compelled to eat
throughout the ages. Once, food was thought to be little more than macaroni or noodles in the Italian
Peninsula. Many factors are considered in the study in the history of cuisine, such as the location,
climate of the area, the cooking methods of that time, religious practices, etc.. Angelo Camillo, a
professor at Woodbury University, explains in his book, An Explorative Study of the Historical
Development and Trend Analysis of Restaurant Cuisine, that The history and evolution of Italian

Jamaican Creole Poem Analysis
The Poetry within Jamaican Creole in a Linguistic Imperalised England It is clear from the poem to
see how Linton feels about the racially hostile environment in which he lives. He chooses to show his
social identity with his strong Jamaican accent which conveys to the reader that he is of immigrant
status, this is fundamental to this poem. Within this essay, I wish to analyze his reasoning for choosing
to express himself with a post colonial approach by using his Jamaican Creole and how he chooses to
combat the conflict of the position of language in the development of colonization. In his most
repetitive stanza, which takes the form of a chorus in spoken form, Linton says. Inglan is a bitch dere s

profanity can set an underlying feeling and strengthen an emotion a writer wants to get across in his
material. The repetition of the word bitch Linton expresses his frustration and disappointment for
British imperialism as he tries to make the most of what seems like a cemented situation and yet is still
confronted with institutionalized racism. In the thirteenth Stanza Linton expresses the exploitation of

By placing his teammates before his own well being and priorities Shun shows interdependent self

Racism And Income Inequality In The United States
Racism and inequalities have existed, exists now, and will be here long after we are gone. However,
racism in this country has been diminished greatly, and though it will never be fully eradicated, it is to
the point where all races and ethnicities can achieve great things. All aspects of life, such as income
levels, success in the arts, and even college entrance are not beholden to systemic racism. It is a person
s own drive, personal life choices, and willingness to work hard that determine their level of
achievement. Of the many cultures in this country, some are more goal driven and can better thrive in
a capitalist society. Then there are some cultures that don t do so well. So, even though racism does
exist in the united states, it is not to the point where it grants benefits to white people. There are many
factors to income inequality in this country, not all of which are connected to racism, but one s
personal choices. The most prevalent factor that contributes to income ... Show more content on

As it relates to the education system, cultural differences are a main factor for the disparities among
the races. Despite this, the Affirmative Action quota system was implemented in order to promote

ensure that their illusion of an equal playing field exists. However, in the court case Gratz v. Bollinger,
the Supreme Court ruled that the University of Michigan s application was riddled with racial
discrimination against non minorities. Pew Researchers even found that of those personally affected

Accounting Standards Boards Paper
Accounting Standards Boards Paper
In recent years there has been significant changes made in our understanding of the relationship
between the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the Financial Accounting
Standards Board (FASB). At present both the IASB and FASB are working on a joint venture referred
to as the convergence project in hopes of eliminating a variety of differences between International
Financial Reporting Standards and U.S. GAAP. Another area covered in this paper besides a brief
history of the relationship between the IASB and FASB will be how the MSA program will prepare
students for the accounting profession. The intent of this paper will be to address both issues first;

is the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). The FASB is a private organization responsible
for establishing a broad range of reporting standards and specific accounting rules. The FASB has
made possible for investors, creditors, auditors, and others a means of using financial information that
is transparent and comparable here in the U.S.
IASB and FASB Relationship
On November 18, 2002 the FASB and IASB came together at a meeting in Norwalk, Connecticut to
start the wheels in motion for the purpose of establishing a new set of financial standards. The FASB
and IASB are committed to create financial standards that will be accepted both domestically and
internationally that are of high quality and compatible for financial reporting. At present more than a
100 countries already use the International Financial Reporting Standards. The U.S. at present has not
accepted a changed in accounting procedures; therefore, this is going to be a major task for both the
FASB and IASB to complete successfully this union. I do believe that the partnership between the
FASB and IASB will achieve the goals of creating a common financial reporting set of standards that
will be accepted by all.
The Convergence Project
The convergence project is to be divided into a short term and long term process. The short term
projects will consist of issues that can be dealt within a time frame of up to two years. In this time

Essay Overcoming Fear
There is an important event that happens in every person s life. That important event may be a number
of things. Such as someone winning the lottery or even having a tragic loss in the family. My
important event in life was the day I conquered my fear of heights. Everyone has some type of fear or
phobia that absolutely petrifies them. Whether it s a fear of snakes, swimming, or even germs, it can
be conquered as I discovered.
That day I overcame my fear of heights took place at Six Flags over Texas. The day started out with
my five friends and me going to a Student Council convention. After the convention we were granted
access to Six Flags for the whole day. Now the only problem for me was Six Flags had roller coasters.

the stairs appeared to warn me, by saying turn back now. As I climbed each step I tried numerous
times to escape. The escape attempts were foiled by my so called friends blocking the only exit. I said,
Come on guys I can die another day. Audrey quipped, Oh come on Taylor, man up and go on the ride.
Now I can t really describe the feeling of having a woman tell me to man up. I said, Ok I got this. I
shrugged off all my anxiety and nerves and just went with it.
I started feeling confident as I waited in line. Finally the moment arrived where I took my seat on the
coaster. At this point my anxiety and fear came rushing back all at once and my blood even seemed to
boil. I realized though if I didn t do this now I probably never would. So I pulled the bar over my
stomach and tried not to puke.
I closed my eyes as the ride ascended from the platform and came to a stop at the peak. I opened my
eyes to nothing but the skyline. I said, Guys if I survive this I m going to kill you all. The moment of
truth was upon me now. The Coaster was at the mercy of gravity as we descended the massive drop. In
the split second I had before we fell off the earth I knew there was nothing I could do to stop ride. As I

Senior Year Research Paper
I cant believe that I am finally a senior in high school it seems just like yesterday I was beginning high

responsibilities and will make tons of memories. But I hope that I am able to make my senior year the
best yet. Through this final year I hope to have passing grades in all of my classes, to win pep rallies,

One of my goals for senior year is to pass all of my classes so that I am ready when I get to college. I
will do everything that is put in front of me to the best of my ability no matter how big or how small
the task is. Even if some of the things that I have put in front of me might make me stumble and want
to give up and just not continue through it I want to press through and finish what is out in front of me.
I know that things will get hard and that I will begin to get stressed out but I do not want to let it stop
me from achieving my goal. When I think things are all good and if I slow down that nothing will

Bourgeoisie Vs Proletariat Analysis
Marx identified two social classes which are the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. The bourgeoisie
owned the product, and the means of production are distribution and the profit. Then, there is the
proletariat also known as laborers these are the people that typically did not have the resources to
invest in mass production. The only thing they could sell was their labor. Marx was a staunch
supporter of the proletariat. He believed that the proletariat gains let up last much in a capitalist
system, and all the bourgeoisie benefited a great deal. He thought that the proletariat would eventually
overthrow the bourgeoisie, and a new economic system would create. Marx believed that society
needed a better means of distributing wealth but also a better way of tapping into a full human
potential. According to Marx what we do is directly connected to ... Show more content on

The world of capitalism puts people in positions of competition. Therefore, everyone looks out for
themselves. A labor competes with others for higher wages, better hours and the best benefits for their
good and not for the best interest of the group. There is little to no concern about a collective common
good or a sense of cooperation.
The last type of alienation is alienation from oneself. Alienation from oneself grabs a person of all
they can be and contribute to the world. Marx believed that what we contribute to the world in terms
ever work is part of our species essence or what makes us human. What we contribute to the world is a
manifestation of our creativity and creativity is an essential part of our human nature and our base

As Trevor, Hannah and Sean wander around the separate world, Trevor flips through pages and
passages in the book that describes exactly what they are seeing. This brings up the theory that
someone must have stumbled upon this world, escaped and wrote a book (Journey to the centro of the
Earth) about it. The movie depicts an alternate universe where dinosaurs are still alive, birds that are
thought to have been extinct still wonder, fungus (mushrooms) grow to be larger than houses and water
that sparkles a bright blue. As the trio wander through the center of the Earth they are speechless as to
what they are seeing. Trevor realizes that Max wasn t as crazy as what everyone thought him to be and

a world they did not believe existed but as they encounter many inhabitants of the place wanting to

The Nuclear Arms Race During The Cold War
The Cold War, basically a gigantic nuclear arms race, was built on suspicion and tension between the
two major power brokers after World War II: The United States and the USSR. Speculation of what

Second is the Russian response to invasion across their borders in the past wars, and thus fear drove

Comparing Frankenstein, Aylmer, and Dr. Phillips
Authors Mary Shelly, Nathaniel Hawthorne and John Steinbeck have all created scientists in at least
one piece of their work. Mary Shelly s character Frankenstein, from her novel Frankenstein, is a man
who is trying to create life from death. Aylmer, the main character in Nathaniel Hawthorne s short
story The Birthmark, is a scientist who is trying to rid his wife of a birthmark on her almost perfect
complexion. In John Steinbeck s The Snake the main character Dr. Phillips is attempting to mate
starfish until a woman interrupts his work to buy a snake. While written in different times by very

Both scientists seem crazy and have a God Complex. Frankenstein states, A new species would bless
me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me (pg 155).
They both attempt to undo God s work. Aylmer and Frankenstein worked relentlessly on their
experiments, completely disregarded the outside world and allowing no one in while they worked. To
Aylmer, his experiment was everything to him, it meant more to him than his wife and therefore he
had the ability to control her for the sake of his experiment. Frankenstein spent his whole life trying to
run away from his experiment, it controlled him. Neither of them had any forethought and because of
that, their subjects suffered. Aylmer and Frankenstein exhibit similar qualities and at the same time
show how very different they are. John Steinbeck s character Dr. Phillips is a very different from the
other two scientists but he still shares some similar qualities. Like Frankenstein, Dr. Phillips shows
how careless he is with his work by missing a series of tests with mating starfish because he was busy
watching the woman watch her snake eat a rat in his laboratory. There was a woman in Dr. Phillips life
too, just like in Aylmer s. But in Dr. Phillips s case the woman controlled him and she was more
important to him than his experiment. He thought she was repulsive at first, but once she leaves for

Strategic Assessment Of Walgreens And Mergers Essay
Executive Summary This preliminary strategic assessment of Walgreens will describe the company s
current corporate strategy and business model. Walgreens acquisitions and mergers will be examined
as well as the company s globalization and competitive frame. A brief overview of how the company
is performing and its cost based business strategy will also be examined. This is the first of four
reports that make up the strategic assessment for Walgreens.
Walgreens Corporate Strategy
Founded in 1901 in Illinois by Charles R. Walgreen, Sr., Walgreens was a subsidiary of Walgreens
Boots Alliance. In the most recent years, Walgreen s corporate strategy has been focused on mergers
and acquisitions, the first of which occurred in 2014 when Walgreens purchased the remaining stake in
Boots costing the company approximately $15.3 billion. (Walgreens, n.d.) With this acquisition
Walgreens became the largest pharmacy/health/beauty combination retailer in the world, operating in
all 50 states and 12 countries internationally. (Schauber, 2014) Mirroring its main market competitor,
CVS, Walgreens has also added Envision Pharma, a pharmacy benefit management company, to its
portfolio. (CVS acquired Caremark in 2007) (Bells, 2016) Due to previous acquisitions and mergers,
Walgreens is currently the most accessible pharmacy retailer in the U.S., servicing 8 million customers
each day and filling approximately 894 million prescriptions and immunizations, every year.

Why is a universal code manual supposed to be used around the world? Simple, so your care is

else follow correctly, you would be
covered if your documents got tested by someone higher than you or another hospital perhaps. Good
documentation provides a safety

the history, geography, education, language, economy, and politics of the Democratic People s

Discourse And Narrative Of Sports
Discourse Community Narrative Imagine you were dangling on the edge of a cliff, and the only thing
that was holding you up from falling to your death was a piece of rope with the person or people of
your choice. Do you know who you would want on the other side? A lot of coaches now of days use
this Hold the Rope saying as a motivational speech for their sports team, including my softball
coaches. As a softball player you face a lot of adversity in the sport. There are times when you are in a
hitting slump and can not hit a ball for 3 straight games, or even times when you make routine
mistakes on the field. Through all of this it is difficult not to get down on yourself and it is even harder
to erase that self doubt you create in your head. Softball is a fast paced sport, therefore it is important
to slow the game down. This means to be relaxed and not too anxious for the ball. When a player
becomes too anxious for the ball 9 times out of 10 they end up either missing the ball or they fumble
the ball. All of these reasons is why teamwork is an important aspect to softball. When I was 8 years
old my dad asked me if I wanted to try playing softball on the local recreational league. At the time I
was already playing soccer, basketball, and was also taking karate lessons. Since they were all at
different times of the season I said yes to trying softball out. When I first started playing I didn t

The Burden Of St. Paul Essay
The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them
Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a universal,
monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his mission to spread Christianity. He was raised
as a jew, and ironically, during his youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as Saul during
this time, was born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus, would militantly
persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed to Christianity that he was
given authority by the chief priest to destroy these followers of Christianity. Saul decided that he
would extend his persecution to other cities such as Damascus. It was this walk on the road to
Damascus that would serve as a major turning point in his life. Jesus appeared to Saul, saying Saul,
Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was blinded, yet his mind became clear. He knew
then that Jesus was calling him to spread the salvation brought by faith through Jesus Christ. These
renewed eyes of Paul were now determined to seek out individuals that needed to hear about salvation
through Jesus, specifically, his people the Jews. The Christian Church of today consists of
approximately 38,000 Christian denominations spread out across the globe. Many of which actively
send missionaries to foreign countries. Would Paul, or even

  • 2. Porsche Changes Tack Essay Porsche Changes Tack Yes, of course, we have heard of shareholder value. But that does not change the fact that we put customers first, then workers, then business partners, suppliers and dealers, and then shareholders. Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, CEO, Porsche, Die Zeit, April 17, 2005. Porsche had always been different. Statements by Porsche leadership, like the one above, always made Veselina (Vesi) Dinova nervous about the company s attitude about creating shareholder value. The company was a paradox. Porsche s attitudes and activities were like that of a family owned firm, but it had succeeded in creating substantial shareholder value for more than a decade. Porsche s CEO, Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, had been credited with clarity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Efficiency is not really critical because the firm s financial goals are not exclusively shareholder oriented since they are constrained by the other stakeholders. In any case, stakeholder capitalism assumes that long term loyal shareholders typically, controlling shareholders rather than the transient portfolio investor should influence corporate strategy. Although both philosophies have their strengths and weaknesses, two trends in recent years have led to an increasing focus on shareholder wealth. First, as more of the non Anglo American markets have increasingly privatized their industries, the shareholder wealth focus is seemingly needed to attract international capital from outside investors, many of whom are from other countries. Second, and still quite controversial, many analysts believe that shareholder based multinationals are increasingly dominating their global industry segments. Porsche AG I know exactly what I want and what must happen. I am the real one. You can be sure. Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking Porsche AG was a publicly traded, closely held, German based auto manufacturer. Porsche s President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, had returned the company to both status and profitability since taking over the company in 1993. Wiedeking s background was in production, and many had questioned whether he was the right man for the job. Human Variables of Change Implementation Based on the results of the Employee Survey, Climate Survey combined with the input of the CrysTel executive team the decision is to implement a Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) change model. Though there are no specific rules associated with the model, it does focus on a never ending cycle of transformation just as organizations or groups have cycles of growth, stagnation and productivity. This cycle of transformation is an iterative process that requires planning, testing, checking and acting on a continuous basis that propel an organization or group Rothwell Sullivan McLean, (1995). It is specifically the fact that of the PDCA model of no set rules and the never ending change cycle that make this model best candidate for creating the new change culture for CrysTel. By the process being fluid CrysTel will be able to tailor the model to address the needs of each department. The company will spend the first part of the process developing the processes to identify and address variables and the inevitable resistance to change. To successfully manage resistance to change CrysTel will first need to identify resistance which as cited in Atkinson, P. (2005) The nature of resistance is that, generally speaking, we do not experience it actively and publicly. Its presence is often displayed covertly, even passively. Once ... • 4. The Triune God Of Christian Faith Mary Ann Fatula s The Triune God of Christian Faith provides for the reader the inner life of God as well as insight into the human reality. Fatula s writing draws the devotional discussion of the Trinity as the present day effect of the Trinitarian faith is called to support attempts to articulate and live the Trinitarian mystery. The Trinity in a human s life is the content of our definition of our human meaning and for an infinite gift: love. Each of us has a desire for achieving meaning, for love, and for wholeness. Fatula in her book develops the study of the divine persons and states the importance of understanding what it is to be truly a person of both human and divine potential. In the Christian faith triune God is very significant. Christian is Trinitarian, describing Jesus as the one whom the Father anoints (christos) with the Spirit so that the Spirit may anoint our own lives (16). Christians confess Jesus as the risen Lord of the universe, but is proclaimed to be inseparable from the one who sent him, the one Jesus knew intimately as Abba, or dear Father. The ultimate paradox of Christianity is Jesus. Having Jesus at its very center disclosed as the source, the meaning, and the definitive answer to all of human longings causes this ultimate paradox. Fatula goes on to discuss, that although Jesus is the triune God, many of the people would not identify this God as the living God we actually experience in our own daily lives. There are three ... After that, the outcome of our strategies would be analysed, including the gross profit and the net profit. Finally, we are going to seek the arbitrage opportunities based on the put call parity. • 9. The Learning ( Or Behaviourist ) Approach The learning (or behaviourist) approach, at its core, is about how experience affects our behaviour and how we learn behaviours. This approach postulates that all humans are born as blank slates and we become shaped by the environment that the person lives in. Behaviourism is concerned with the observable characteristics of humankind; their behaviour. This approach dismisses any internal workings because these workings are too subjective and difficult to observe; whereas observable behaviour can be scientifically and objectively measured, so more concrete theories can be based off the research undertaken into behaviour. Unsurprisingly, the behaviourist approach works closely with the experimental branch of psychology, and it also works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The process of this conditioning is associating a neutral stimulus (the bell) with a unconditioned stimulus (the food) and unconditioned response (the salivation); this means that a stimulus in the environment produces a behaviour that is innate, or natural no new behaviours have been learned, yet. The neutral stimulus does not produce a response unless it is paired with the unconditioned stimulus at the start of conditioning. During conditioning the stimulus that produces no response (i.e. neutral) is associated with the unconditioned stimulus to the point it becomes a conditioned stimulus. Often, at this stage, the unconditioned stimulus needs to be associated with the conditioned stimulus on many occasions or trials for learning to take place. However, this is not always the case; if a neutral stimulus produces sickness or ill health, then the association does not need to be strengthened over time, because the response it produces is so violent. Now, the conditioned stimulus has been associated with the unconditioned stimulus to the point where it can produce a conditioned response. This association can then be generalized to other, similar objects; as was shown in the Little Albert experiment performed by Watson, when the baby s fear of the white rat had been generalized to other similar furry animals and ... Measuring Volatility Novices being introduced in Trading Boundary Binary Options might think they are risk free but they are not. It is not even that easy as some may have led you to believe. However it cannot be that gloomy after all. Trading Boundary binary Options revolve around the underlying asset and the nature of the response generated by any major economic announcement forthcoming. The importance of the underlying asset to the transaction is crucial and can be understood better by measuring the volatility arising after an announcement. This volatility is measured by the Average True Range. The average True Range discovered by the financial maverick J. Welles Wilder is merely a technical analysis unpredictability pointer for goods or financial commodities. This is simply the difference between the highest and the lowest bars while putting into consideration the gaps that lie in between. High volatility reflects heightened enthusiasm and can be reflected by wider boundaries and this would be an ideal thing for a trader whose predictions were restrained inside the boundaries. Low volatility means less trading enthusiasm and is characterized by narrower boundaries. This would be sad news to any trader who was predicting a break out. Trader wishing to cash in on an In Boundary Option would be disadvantaged by low volatility. A break out to the contrary would be an easy ride to the bank as it only ... These products were tested and observed for differences in color, smell, and consistency. Three different kinds of water products from; tap water, Dasani water, to Fiji bottled water were tested and observed using chemical test strips. This was to understand that bottled water did not have a difference from regular tap water. When contaminates are introduced to the elements and effect the water supply they can have an adverse effect on the human health system. The water that we drink and use in our day to day lives is vital and understanding how to keep it clean is the responsibility of all. Major trial courts take the processed felony cases and complete them; in major courts the defendants who are charged with felony crimes mainly enter a plea of guilty or not guilty, which then leads to a trial (Neubauer, 2010). The second component of our dual court system consists of appellate courts. In the U.S. judicial system, a defendant found guilty in a trial court can normally appeal to a higher federal court. These federal courts, or appellate courts, review decisions made by trial courts (Neubauer, 2010). Appellate courts can be on the federal and state level, but do not hold trials or hear new evidence. These courts consist of a judge, or a lawyer, or a group of either one, who read the transcript of the trial and whether the previous decision correctly or incorrectly followed the law (Neubauer, 2010). Similar to trial courts, the federal government and most states have made two different types of appellate courts: intermediate, which hear all cases, and supreme courts, which can pick and choose the cases heard (Neubauer, 2010). Even though there are many different types of courts within the judicial system of the United States, the role of the judge stays constant throughout the majority of branches. Representations Of Queer Characters In Esmeralda De Noche Vos As one of the most visibly queer characters in Esmeralda de noche vienes, Tito Vasconcelos multiple appearances throughout the film can represent how queer identity is represented in Mexican society. Vasconcelos is nameless throughout the entire film, as we see him show up in multiple spaces, portraying different characters. He appears through various expressions, those ranging from appearing as a feminine woman to a highly macho charro showing that queerness quietly exists everywhere in Mexican society. The characters Vasconcelos plays range from a contrast between male and female identity and even sometimes to be in between. Although he has many roles in this film, he is often left in the background, without a speaking role or an introduction. Yet, Vasconcelos invisibility to other characters in the film, and his strong presence to the viewer offers the audience a peek into how queerness is taken and handled in Mexico. In one instance that shows the characters outright neglect over Vasconcelos, follows the conversation the judge has with Esmeralda about her relationship with a closeted gay man Jorge Luis. It is later revealed that regardless of his gay identity, Esmeralda has sexual relations with Jorge Luis. The judge proceeds to ask her if she is afraid of getting AIDS, to which she replies that they always take precautionary measures. • 15. Cb Reflection I grew up in a loving household, in East Los Angeles, California. At that time, my parents owned a small fruit produce business in South Los Angeles. They spent most of their time outside of home ensuring that everything went well. I remember feeling sad that my family did not have the privilege to spend more time together like other family s did. Nonetheless, I understood that dad and mom could not play and/or travel with me and my siblings because they were busy making ends meet. Although we aspired for more family time, we learned to put our needs aside and to take care of one another. Part of taking care of one another meant keeping certain information/issues to ourselves. Thus, me and my family learned to deal with our own problems because we feared causing any type of anxiety, anger, fear, etc. to family members. As a result, we did not create a safe space where family members shared stressful issues that they were dealing with outside of home. When I was dealing with bullying in middle and high school, I felt so lonely and broken. The Culture Of The Italian Cuisine Ethan Smith Professor Piazza Italian 21 9 December 2016 Cucina Italiano In the early history of many countries, food always plays an important part in the development of the country and the economy as well. From starting out simple, the recipes evolve and spread after being handed down and spoken to others. Food is what defines many cultures, and is able to bring many people together in many cases. For example, food is what stands a major tradition in many families, recipes being a secret between the members. This is one way that it plays in importance in cultures. Italian culture differs from other cultures because the food plays a much more important part. Italian cuisine has influenced many parts of their own culture, and other cultures around the world. Food has always played a major part in three major aspects of Italian culture: history, symbolism, and art. The history of Italian cuisine revolves around the evolution of what people were compelled to eat throughout the ages. Once, food was thought to be little more than macaroni or noodles in the Italian Peninsula. Many factors are considered in the study in the history of cuisine, such as the location, climate of the area, the cooking methods of that time, religious practices, etc.. Jamaican Creole Poem Analysis The Poetry within Jamaican Creole in a Linguistic Imperalised England It is clear from the poem to see how Linton feels about the racially hostile environment in which he lives. He chooses to show his social identity with his strong Jamaican accent which conveys to the reader that he is of immigrant status, this is fundamental to this poem. Within this essay, I wish to analyze his reasoning for choosing to express himself with a post colonial approach by using his Jamaican Creole and how he chooses to combat the conflict of the position of language in the development of colonization. In his most repetitive stanza, which takes the form of a chorus in spoken form, Linton says. Inglan is a bitch dere s no escapin it Inglan is a bitch dere s no runnin whey fram it There is poetry in profanity, Often profanity can set an underlying feeling and strengthen an emotion a writer wants to get across in his material. The repetition of the word bitch Linton expresses his frustration and disappointment for British imperialism as he tries to make the most of what seems like a cemented situation and yet is still confronted with institutionalized racism. In the thirteenth Stanza Linton expresses the exploitation of immigrant workers by saying mi know dem have work, work in abundant yet still, dem mek mi redundant now, at fifty five mi gettin quite ol yet still, dem sen mi fi goh draw dole The experience in inner cities had by immigrants in the 1950 s and 60 s was, to say ... If your documentation is correctly coded according to the CPT manual and everything else follow correctly, you would be covered if your documents got tested by someone higher than you or another hospital perhaps. Good documentation provides a safety net because it shows exactly what patient care you actually provided. If there is any scrutiny, you are more protected. • 37. Discourse And Narrative Of Sports Discourse Community Narrative Imagine you were dangling on the edge of a cliff, and the only thing that was holding you up from falling to your death was a piece of rope with the person or people of your choice. Do you know who you would want on the other side? A lot of coaches now of days use this Hold the Rope saying as a motivational speech for their sports team, including my softball coaches. As a softball player you face a lot of adversity in the sport. There are times when you are in a hitting slump and can not hit a ball for 3 straight games, or even times when you make routine mistakes on the field. Through all of this it is difficult not to get down on yourself and it is even harder to erase that self doubt you create in your head. Softball is a fast paced sport, therefore it is important to slow the game down. This means to be relaxed and not too anxious for the ball. When a player becomes too anxious for the ball 9 times out of 10 they end up either missing the ball or they fumble the ball. All of these reasons is why teamwork is an important aspect to softball. When I was 8 years old my dad asked me if I wanted to try playing softball on the local recreational league. At the time I was already playing soccer, basketball, and was also taking karate lessons. Since they were all at different times of the season I said yes to trying softball out. When I first started playing I didn t expect to have such a strong connection for the sport since my main passion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That would have allowed for perspective on both sides which would have been good data to have, but there is a lot of data to compare the characteristics that pets present that make them feel like family members. Next, the focus turned more on questions about therapy animals and what those surveyed knew about animal therapy. These questions, Which animal would you choose to have as a therapy animal? , and What animals have you seen used as therapy animals? , are able to gauge the knowledge of therapy animals and the frequency that some animals are used compared to others. The question about which animal the participant would choose was based on the idea of less common animals, such as goats, being used as therapy animals and if someone would choose a farm animal as a therapy aid. The last section of questions focused on mental health and stress. The questions were based around the mental health and/or stress level of the participant to see how these factors may affect their opinion on the use of therapy animals for psychological therapy. The responses collected compare the stress level of the participant and their feelings on an animal s positive influence on their own mental health or decrease in stress levels. • 39. The Burden Of St. Paul Essay The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a universal, monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his mission to spread Christianity. He was raised as a jew, and ironically, during his youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as Saul during this time, was born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus, would militantly persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed to Christianity that he was given authority by the chief priest to destroy these followers of Christianity. Saul decided that he would extend his persecution to other cities such as Damascus. It was this walk on the road to Damascus that would serve as a major turning point in his life. Jesus appeared to Saul, saying Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was blinded, yet his mind became clear. He knew then that Jesus was calling him to spread the salvation brought by faith through Jesus Christ. These renewed eyes of Paul were now determined to seek out individuals that needed to hear about salvation through Jesus, specifically, his people the Jews. The Christian Church of today consists of approximately 38,000 Christian denominations spread out across the globe. Many of which actively send missionaries to foreign countries.
