The Origins Of Yoga And The Second School Being Hatha
Yoga
In 1893, a man by the name of Vivekananda came to speak at the Parliament of
Religions in Chicago. He captivated his audience with the exotic Indian practice of
Yoga. His message permeated throughout the United States while capturing the minds
of brilliant Americans such as Gertrude Stein. Vivekananda as well as the Doctrine of
Yogawere a sensation, but what has become of the mystical practice known as
yoga. In this paper I will discuss the origins of yoga in the West, various schools of
thought associated with yoga and with a focus on two in particular: the first being
Raja yoga (royal yoga) and the second school being Hatha yoga. Dr. John Renard
illustrates the relation between these to schools concisely and effectively in The

The young monk made a profound impression on the people who attended the
speech. His speech left people spellbound and enchanted. He was able to simplify
Vedanta thought in such way that it was more digestible for westerners and more
importantly he conveyed the idea that all souls were inherently divine. His mantra
was relatable to American, work and worship. Vivekananda became a star
overnight. He proceeded to tour the country to further the doctrine of yoga across
the nation. Yet the yoga we see across our country is very different from the yogic
tradition Vivekananda was teaching. In fact Vivekananda had an absolute lack of
interest in the physical aspect of yoga we see today in our society. His goal in
America was to help Americans realize God. He was considered the first
missionary from the east to the west and it was his goal to help Americans rid
themselves of this American individualism. He wanted to rise above the western
perception of the east being this exotic and magical place and to deliver truth to
people. He felt very strongly about his proselytization. He was quoted saying, I
have a message to the West as Buddha had a message to the East. That being said
Vivekananda was a man of this world. He had reportedly been seen smoking and
eating meat, so this man was far from perfect. Yet nevertheless this man had quite the
following. In fact Leo Tolstoy was very
Otorrhea History
It is important for the new generation of otologists to be cognizant of the history of
otology. Following are few landmarks in otology regarding ear surgeries: The
potential of ear suppuration was clearly described by Hippocrates (460 376 BC).
The Greek physician Galen (AD129 217), among others, recognized the importance
of draining an infected ear. In his writings, he suggested that otorrhea was
beneficial for the infected ear because it allowed the drainage of purulent secretions
from the ear and recommended against any procedure intended to impede otorrhea
Hieronymus Meculiasis (1530 1606 AD), gave the clinical description of ear
disease12 . The first documented surgical incision to drain an infected ear was

The first mastoid operation trying to preserve the ossicular chain and hearing was
described by Bondi in 1910. Mosher, in 1911, started the idea of mastoid
obliteration to promote healing of a mastoidectomy defect. Mosher described an
obliteration technique using a superiorly based postauricular soft tissue flap. First
successful intra temporal facial nerve anastamosis and first successful facial nerve
graft within temporal bone was done by Sterling Bunnel in 1930. From 1930 1937
Kopetsky, Almor, Eagelton, Frenchkner, Ramadier and Lempert described the
various routes for draining the petrous apex. Kisch described the use of a pedicled
temporalis muscle flap in 1928 that was expanded on by Rambo in 1958 Popper
described the use of a periosteal flap used to line, rather than obliterate, the mastoid
cavity in 1935 Palva developed anteriorly based musculoperiosteal flap for
obliteration of mastoid cavity in 1973 The temporo parietal fascia flap was first
described by Bryd and the technique of mastoid obliteration using the flap was

Unrealistic Image Of The Perfect Body Through Social
Media
All over America there are teens with low self esteem, self harm, depression, and
many more medical issues. In most cases this can be caused by one thing, the lack
of being accepted. Teens in this age have phones and social media, so it is pushed
on them with images, articles, videos, crittercism that if they do not have the perfect
body they aren t as good and aren t as important.
The big catch with all this criticism is that the perfect body comes naturally which is
not true. Women are told they should have big breast, big butt, curvy but not fat. For
a man they are expected to be tall slender and strong. But most of this stuff does not
come naturally.
In nearly every picture you see of a woman or a man that is perfect they have ... Show

The Perfect Body . This image is pushed upon young girls and men through social
media and their everyday life that a woman or a man has to be perfect to deserve
love, respect, and acceptance.
I did a survey of my class ages 13 16 and got 42 responses, and asked the following
questions and got the following responses.
On a daily basis through media and magazines and ailey life do you see the
unrealistic image of the perfect body ? 76% of 42 high school students answered too
often or a lot .
When you see these images does it make you feel lesser of yourself or as if you need
to change? almost 50 Percent answered yes.
Do you think the perfect body image effects teen self esteem? 92% answered yes.
Do you think this is a serious issue?
89% answered yes.
We have the opinions of teens and it s an issue to them. This efects teens self
etsteem and makes them feel lesser of himself and that is a serious issue! Having
50% of teens out of 42 teenagers wanting to change their appearance because they
don t feel good enough because of perfect body is a huge issues and the young
people shouldn t have this burden or stress on them.
This is in my opinion a huge health problem in
Cg4 Case Study Nursing
CG4 is a telemetry unit that cares for patients with cardiac and respiratory issues.
The unit frequently scores one of the highest HCAPs within PinnacleHealth on a
monthly basis when compared to other nursing units, but it is not without headache.
Like previously stated, CG4 is approximately forty percent staffed with nurses.
When analyzing the causes of this issue, a few patterns can be identified. Clark
(2009) explains there are two relevant reasons why nursing staff continue to leave
CG4. First, the nursing staff is primarily single females less than thirty years of age.
This causes for rapid turnover with many nurses aspirations to travel to big cities
and obtain various experiences as nurse early in their career. There is a pull

Team Building and Development
It takes extraordinary leadership to assemble great teams. Leaders who are not
reluctant to course right, making challenging choices and launch principles of
implementation that are continually being met and enhancing them at all times.
Whether in the working environment, expert sports, or our nearby community, team
building needs a keen understanding of individuals, their merits and what makes them
eager to work with others. Llopis mentioned, Team building is both an art and a
science and the manager who constantly brings out great performance teams is worth
their weight in gold (2012).
Building organizations needs the knowledge and skill to build ever lasting teams.
This is the reason why most managers can never become leaders and why most
leaders never achieve the utmost summit of success. It involves the knack to ace the
craft of individuals and knowing how to move hundreds of individuals at the right
place and at the right time. It means to know how each individual thinks and how to
best use their skills properly at all times. It s like playing a continuous match of chess
realizing that each incorrect move can cost the organization thousands of dollars, if
not millions (Llopis, 2012).
All through life, we all like to be made to feel commendable and acknowledged,
realizing that our presence can be a piece of vital
Freedom Writers Techniques
The Freedom Writers 1.11
In the Film Freedom Writers, the diary scene , the scene is about the students writing
about their lives during their childhood and now, this is an important part of the
movie because it is used to show the story of the students to the audience and how
their lives are in the present, shortly after the LA Riots, the scene uses a range of
techniques such as the sound, editing, the colour/lighting and the cinematography to
give the scene more emphasis.
The Directors use of Fade transitions, Close up shots and Flashbacks during the scene
are important, as the audience sees lots of fade transitions between flashbacks and the
present. Sometimes we can see faded pictures of the students diaries it shows

We can see these techniques used substantially during Brandy s part of the scene.
Dark lighting is shown in Brandys flashback scene, during the flashback we see
Brandys father abuse her mother and the rest of her family, we also see this when
her father kicks her and her siblings to the kerb. The dialogue of Brandy is heard
all throughout her scene, she is explaining what has happened to her but her voice
is very depressing. These techniques have been used in order to show the audience
the struggle of their lives and how trapped Brandys and the other students lives are.
The dialogue of the students show the audience what Brandy has been through, it is
obvious that it is not an easy subject for them to talk about, this makes the audience
feel shocked how her father would abuse his family. The dark lighting within the
flashback represent how dark and gloom Brandys life has been, all she has witnessed
and been through, its shows how depressing her life has been. The combination with
her standing by the fence in the flashback, it shows how she is trapped in this life.
this makes the audience feel saddened for Brandy and surprised that the students are
alive after all that has happened to them This makes the audience understand how
much they have gone through and how they didn t want this life. This shows the
audience that that this life is not the life they wanted, they

Prisoner Of War Research Paper
A Prisoner of War is someone who has been caught by taken as a prisoner by the
opposing team in the war in this case it was the Australians, Chinese, Papua New
Guinea, Malaysia, Singapore and many more were captured and taken into the
Japanese camps. The conditions of these camps were nothing like anyone ever
imagined. They were surrounded with barbed wire, or a high wooden fence. Anyone
who ever attempted to escape these camps would end up being executed in front of
the other prisoners. The conditions of these camps were so bad they had long term
effects on the prisoners. The long term effects of these prisoners included Post

The most common disorder of them all was Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
(PTSD). PTSD is a disorder of persistent mental an emotional stress happening as a
result of injury or severe Psychological shock. This is naturally involving the
disturbance of and continuous flash backs and memories of the experience, with
dull responses to others and to everything in the outside world. Families of the
affected prisoners find it hard to see their loved one get easily startled, have
nightmares and even try to avoid social situations so they don t feel like they are
back on the battle fields. Research has shown that many of the families living and
dealing with a person who has PTSD may find themselves experiencing sympathy
for the person with PTSD, negative feelings about how the changed person they
are, avoidance of the same things the person with PTSD, depression of knowing
that things will never be the same as before the person went off to war, anger and
guilt of feeling responsible for making them happy before war, now knowing that
you cannot do anything to make them happy again and lastly health issues such as
not exercising, smoking, drinking can become worse when trying to handle a
family s member PTSD symptoms. When someone you care about has PTSD, it
affects you too. You are probably spending time and energy to help your loved one
cope (Lisa Frederiksen, 2012). The prisoners went

colour of it is shown throughout the ident and promotes the channel and its theme
and the logo is shown various times throughout in different variations, but even when
the logo is made of popcorn in conjunction with the summer theme, there is still the
presence of the colour purple in the background, meaning the ident it doesn t lose

Writing Is Defined As Fun
A writer to be... In my opinion, writing is defined as fun, a way to be creative and a
way to help me clear my mind. It allows me to express my own individuality.
Writing may be known as a bore to others who cant seem to find their own writing
style, but if you have that gift of writing it comes easy no matter what subject or
topic. That s where my liking for writingcomes in. I ve always been able to take a
topic and write about it without any problems. Once my brain gets going, its hard to
stop.
Several years ago, I found my passion for writing. I was sitting in English class, the
lights dimmed and everyone starring into the teachers soul as she explained an
writing assignment we had to do. She told us to make up a story about what we
thought the future was going to be like when we became adults. At first, the topic
didn t interest me. I felt as if the future was going to be the same as it was at that
time. I didn t know what to write. It was way too cold in the class and the scents of
pumpkin pie and sweaty gym socks surrounding the air didn t seem to help the
situation much either. After a few minutes of thinking, so many ideas popped in my
head, I didn t know how to control it. I started jotting down everything that came to
mind, then I went back to organize it so I could start writing. Once my teacher seen
what I was doing, she asked Who taught you this technique? I told her it s just
something I ve always done, she then told me that s a good technique to
Strengths And Weaknesses Of Communication, Teamwork,
And...
I have some weaknesses and strengths in regards to communication, teamwork, and
social intelligence. I am weak at;
Supporting others with their needs
Active listening
Being sympathetic towards others situations
Not interrupting others
Some of my strengths are;
I can analyze and understand other people s emotions very easily
I have a high social and emotional intelligence
I can control my actions to the point of being great at poker
I can communicate easily through the written language
I can put my thoughts in a logical sequence when writing
I m very natural at leading people and drawing out peoples opinions
I m good at public speaking and enjoy drawing peoples into what I m talking about.
My plan of action in order to work on my weaknesses is first and foremost practice
my active listening. I am very easily distracted (literally ADD), so for me listening
is a very hard task to do especially if I m not that interested in what the other person
has to say. I need to practice active listening more. I believe my biggest weakness
for active listening is I always try to put my two cents in. Sometimes people just
want to be heard. I m very opinionated so it s hard for me to understand that people
don t want my opinion. My next big weakness for active listening is not paying
attention or discarding what people have to say. In a group work environment not
paying attention to what others say is one of the worst things that you can do. I think

Hairstyles of the 90 s
In 1990 I was 13 years old. I remember that my hairstyle was as important as what I
wore everyday. I wore my hair up, all down, and in a half ponytail. When I wore it all
down, I would crimp it with a crimping tool or flat iron it with really big bangs,
using a lot of hairspray. When I wore it up, I would use a big, colorful, flashy
scrunchie to put my hair into a ponytail. The ponytail would always be at the very
top of my head and very big. When I wore my hair half up and half down, I would
also use a big flashy scrunchie to put it in a half ponytail. With that, I would also
make my bangs sticking straight up with a lot of hairspray. I look back at old
pictures of myself and think, wow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not to mention, my brother also rocked a Mullet. I love those pictures of him. The
Mullet hair is shorter at front and longer at the back. The Beastie Boys song Mullet
Head from 1994 became much more popular once the Mullet hairstyle came into
fashion. The Superman comics in the 90 s also shows Superman in a Mullet
haircut. Punk rock bands were mostly famous for Mullets, along with many
country singers, such as, Billy Ray Cyrus, Travis Tritt, and Joe Defoe. Sanjay
Dutt, a Bollywood actor also had a Mullet haircut during the 1990 s. The Afro
hairstyle comes to mind when I think of hair in the 90 s too. People with lengthy
and kinky hair texture maintained a fashion with the Afro hairstyle. The hairs are
extended out from the scalp and are made in a round shape like that of a ball or a
cloud. Creams, gels and other liquids were used to give the shape to this Afro style
of hair. Popular in the 60 s, the Afro hairstyle came back in the 90 s again, but with
various braids, twists and sizes. NBA players, Kobe Bryant, Michael Beasley along
with several musicians Ludacris, Wiz Khalifa, Beyonce had the Afro style of hair in
the 90 s. Next I will talk about the Frosted Tip hairstyle. The Frosted Tip hairstyle was
The World Transition From Brain Deadening Media
Introduction
Hawkins said I wanted to help the world transition from brain deadening media like
broadcast television to interactive media that would connect people and help them
grow. Electronic Arts (EA), one of the leading companies in the gaming world, was
founded by Trip Hawkins in the year 1982 and is headquartered in Redwood City,
California. The company s corporate governance is constituted by a board of nine
directors including Larry Probst (Chairman) and Andrew Wilson (CEO). Hawkins
envisioned EA as a publishing company that would be known for its quality and
professionalism, working with the best independent talent to make the gaming
industry equivalent to movies, books or music. Consumers, employees and
shareholders are the main stakeholders in the company. EA hopes to build lifetime
players by relentlessly improving quality. It is known that Hawkins wanted to
properly credit and compensate the talent that developed games, giving them the
same respect that artists in other media enjoyed. Ever since it became public at $8
per share in the year 1990, EA keeps its shareholders well informed about crucial
information such as investor kits, conference presentations, stock prices etc.
Background
At first, the company was named Amazin Software. In October of 1982, the company
was renamed to Electronic Arts since Hawkins wanted to recognize software as an art
form. EA has a number of business strategies. First, expanding rapidly through timely
acquisitions. From 2000
Comparing Ackerman, Scruggs And The Lavoie
A similar idea that is spoken between Ackerman, Scruggs and the Lavoie is the idea
of a safe learning environment. In this safe learning environment, it is important to
cater towards the students with and without mental and physical disability s. As a
student with learning disability that was diagnosed at an older age, I experience the
segregation students with disability face. This segregation I experience did not
improve my education, but forced me to look at my surroundings and myself. This
new setting was not the correct learningenvironment for me so I suffered even more.

The Ceo Small Start Up Distillery
The CEO small start up distillery named La Mancha Distilling co. in the southwest
city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the city known for its home to televisions Series
Breaking Bad . Craig Cervantes the CEO of La Mancha Distilling, has filed for, and
now has a patent pending for a new type of revolutionary Spirts Aging process.
Craig Cervantes has come up with a new revolutionary Patented process that stands to
change the whole game of manufacturing Aged Spirts such as Bourbon, Scotch,
Whiskey, Rums, Tequilas and Brandys as well as many others that are currently aged
in Oak and wooden barrels. Traditionally, Whiskey and Scotches are aged in
charred oak barrels in the long aging process that normally takes between 3 to 7 years
to passively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a normal oak aging process the amount of surface area of the barrel is stationary
and only has a finite amount of the actual oak coming into contact with the Spirts
within. In re thinking the process the eureka moment came when instead of putting
the spirits inside the barrel basically the barrel is turned inside out and the sprits now
surround the Oak. In the process a negative pressure is applied which draws the
alcohol into the wood at much higher rate and getting full penetration of the wood to
maximize the drawing the flavors from the Oak. Another unique result of this method
is that you can do much more of a customization of the actual ending flavor profile.
In a traditional method the Charring of the barrel is ordered from the cooper when
they have made the barrel. The charring on the inside of the barrel can be altered to
end up with a different end result depending on how deep the charring is done. With
this new method the wood is made into actual chips which are then toasted for a
period of time at a high temperature and it changes the
Carmelization profile depending on the extent of the toasting. You can now eliminate
certain flavor notes or bring certain flavor notes into a finished product in a much
more consistent level than was ever possible in the past.
Another thing that can be done during the aging process is to introduce other types
of woods in the finished flavor profiles. It can be done using woods
Patient Engagement
Although patient hold the main role of patient engagement, for health care providers,
they also play a very important role as facilitator and collaborator. However, in
practices, they were not adequately prepared to assist patients to engage in clinical
treatment because of external barriers, including heavy workload, time constraints
and hospital special setting et al. Consistent with previous researches, communication
offer a critical lens for assessing the extent to which patient are engaged in their care.
In our study, TB inpatients committed that keep cooperation with health providers in
hospital settings may help to making them feel cared and promote patient
engagement. Conversely, poor communication undermined trust in relationship with
The Pros And Cons Of Truancy
Truancy is any unauthorized and intentional or illegal absence from mandatory
education. Students being absent from primary schools or institutions providing
compulsory education at their free will without any reference to legitimate reasons
for absence like medical conditions is the phenomenon of truancy. Students who
attend schoolbut not classes are also subject to be charged with truancy. It is
prevalent in both UAE and UK, though explicitly defined in policies and procedural
handbooks of almost every school across the countries.
In Wales and England, truancy is deemed as a criminal offence for guardians. UK
laws allow a police officer of the rank of a superintendent or higher to direct regional
police officers to move or report ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One such strict determination of the government to combat truancy was noticeable
the following year. The education ministry of UAE emphasized that students needed
to be present at school on the three days after the Eid Al Adha Holiday. Schools were
authorized to penalized students committing truancy.
The Eid Al Adha holiday announced to be on October 5th and 6th (Sunday and
Monday) this year and followed by three normal working days. Several guardians
and students have had a knack of ignoring the three days following the Eid Al Adha
holiday in order to experience an extended vacation. The Wadeema s Law, a legal
child protection initiative undertaken by the UAE government includes measures
to combat truancy in several ways. In my observation, I noticed students in UAE
committed truancy and extended Eid Al Adha Holiday on their will. I predict the
same behavior from students who committed truancy on Eid Al Adha Holiday will
be repeated again on the upcoming National Day Holiday. Through this law, movie
theaters allowing children to go in for age inappropriate movies and shisha cafes
permitting minors entry are legible for fines (Veenstra, et al. 2010). Wadeema s
Law was inaugurated in 2013 in honor of a 8 year old girl tortured and starved to

Speech On Education Is Emancipation
Education means emancipation , a quote by Frederick Douglas, a leader to many, in
order to inspire those lost and without hope of continuing their education, and finally
uplift them and illuminated their path to a road lit with knowledge and excellence.
The same determination has been inscribed to many parents in this country, so they
can guide their own children to this road. Their sacrifices were great ones, especially
if their children are first generation college students. For many, educationis not only a
direction to achieve excellence, but a form of gratitude to those who have sacrificed
a lot. It is important to inspire future leaders today, in order to build a better
tomorrow. In her commencement speech, Michelle Obama... Show more content on

Obama opens her speech by recognizing many of the faculty of Bowie State and
congratulating the graduating students. She develops her argument by recalling the
punishment of educated slaves, even mentioning many historical figures and
references, such as, the students of Little Rock, Martin Luther King, Ruby Bridges,
quoting Frederick Douglass, and many more. Not only that, but she includes statistics
that read, Only one of three African Americanstudents are dropping out of high
school, (291) and ...one of five African American between the ages of twenty five
and twenty nine has gotten a college degree... (291), which she uses to reinforce part
of her argument concerning the education of the African American youth. Obama
also points out the benefits of a higher education, noting that people who have at
least a bachelor s degree earn three times more income than high school dropouts
(291). In addition, she claims that education is also good for the health and African
American women and men with degrees live a respective six and a half and ten years
longer than those without.
Furthermore, Obama provides emotional appeal where she mentions the success of
those in the audience and how their lives are relatable to her own and to the lives of
many others. The former first lady doesn t fail to include her own personal
experience, such as
Opera Roles
On stage, singers bring the story to life through acting and singing the words along
to the music played by the orchestra much in the same way as a musical. What
makes an opera different to a musical is that the singers are unamplified by
microphones and the orchestra is much larger and plays entirely live. The main
characters are sung by principals who are often guest artists who work freelance and
perform with different operacompanies. The Chorus includes twenty female and
twenty males singers who, depending on the opera, either commentate on the main
action or on occasion take the story forward themselves. Members of the Chorus
will also take some of the smaller roles in certain operas. The Chorus are what makes
an opera special, they
Robert Cormier Weaknesses
The beautiful part of writing is that you don t have to get it right the first time,
unlike, say, a brain surgeon. This quote by Robert Cormier is true in the sense that
you can redo essays but without understanding your strengths and weaknesses. We
can write a good essay by understanding your strengths and weaknesses. I made my
essaybetter by adding good word choice and evidence.
One of my strengths is ideas and evidence. I have real statistics and importance in
my points. This ads to the clarity of the essay. Ideas provide a basis for the essay to
grow on. I wrote down that 50% of car crashes happen because of distracted drivers
on their phones and I also wrote that studies show that video games increase reaction

The Controversy of the Military Coup in Egypt Essay
The military coup in Egypt was very controversial. I believe that the ousting of
Morsi was completely wrong and should never have happened. After the overthrow
of Dictator Hosni Mubarak, Mohamed Morsi was democratically voted president of
Egypt. Morsi was only president for a year. During his short spell the military
illegally took control of Egyptand placed presidentMorsi under house arrest. This
sparked controversy across the globe.
One of my main reasons why I am against the coup is that president Morsi was
placed under arrest for killing his own people which is something I find hard to
believe. Why would Morsi kill his own people after the Mubarak dictatorship? After
all Morsi was elected by the people of Egypt and he is the people s ... Show more

It was believed by many people that Morsi done very little to change the country. I
do believe Morsi was the president who was going to take the country forward
because he strengthened Egypt s links with other countries. Through the influence
of the deep state president Morsi was put across as being a bad president. There is
a website morsimeter.com which recorded the progress of the president through
his first 100 days of presidency from the website it is clear that president Morsi
was continuously making changes in the country. Morsi was the right president for
the country. He wanted to do what was best for the country however the deep state
didn t provide him with the cooperation that he needed. I fully understand why
people would protest against Morsi especially when they think he ordered the
killing of his own people. In the end the military has ended up killing Egyptian
citizens, who is there to stop them now? They arrested Morsi for allegedly doing
something they are now doing themselves. Whether Morsi was a good president or
not it doesn t really matter the Military should not involve themselves, the military
coup defeated the purpose of democracy and in my mind has put Egypt back to
square one.
Finally, I believe the military took advantage of the situation the country was in.
When Mohamed Morsi became president the military lost its influence in
Fate In Beowulf
The intelligent Isaac newton once declared For every action, there is an equal and
opposite reaction . Not only does this play a role in the science theories but in life
theory s as well. For every choice made in life, consequences will follow, good and
bad. The Everyday choices not only impact but influence future choices and
outcomes. If one becomes aware of the correlation between an action and the
consequential fate, it may influence the choiceto whether or not repeat the action.
Within Beowulf, an epic poem by Burton Raffel, the choices made concur with fate
to drive the story of courage and legacy. Fate plays a role in Beowulf s tragic death
due to a lack of perfection, error of judgement and repercussion, a mental battle
between choices... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because he does not acquire the ability to fight of Grendel, Unferth then tries to
talk Beowulf out of the battle. Although Unferth does not support Beowulf going
to fight Grendel in fear of the success, the rest of the town supports Beowulf.
Unferth even goes to the extent of questioning the truth behind the swimming
match between Brecca and Beowulf, in which of course Beowulf won. The
outcome between Grendel and Beowulf then push the fate of all characters to
come. Oren Falk, a professor at Cornell University, discusses the fate behind
Beowulf s ideas and potential plans. The plan contains the idea of putting himself
on the line for the good of the community: He leaps into the water not with a design
to lay claim or bring liberty to a soggy bottom, but with the hope of defeating the
Grendelkin on their own turf so that the land above mere level be made safe for
men again (Falk 5).Consequently, all the fame goes to Beowulf for his successes
in defeating Grendel and Grendel s mother. He dives into the repulsive water not
knowing if he will rise back up. The reasoning for his efforts to make the land safe
again become shaped from Beowulf s good soul, doing it for the benefit of others
rather than himself. His error of judgment in this case does not exists because he
makes the choice in thought of the townspeople. Beowulf s error of judgement take

The Magus by John Fowles Essay
The Magus by John Fowles The Magus, by John Fowles, is a six hundred and five
page book, which I have read all of. It was copyrighted in 1965 by Little, Brown
Company (Canada) Limited, and was dedicated to Astarte. John Fowles has
written many other books, such as: A Maggot, Daniel Martin, Land, The Tree,
poems, and literally dozens of others. The critiques of these books state they are all
fiction, but are in a wide variety of areas. The main character, Mr. Nicholas Urfe, is
extremely bored with life. He attended Oxford and taught for a year at a public
school, before becoming an English teacher at the Lord Bryon School in Greece, on
the island of Phraxos. Nicholas talked to a former teacher who warned him to beware

Mr. Conchis and his female friends make a base for the plot to thicken. Watching
them carefully will lead to whole new dimensions of this book. The many conflicts
in this book include: Man versus man and man versus self. Man versus man can be
displayed with the conflicts between Nicholas and Alison and with Nicholas and
Mr. Conchis as they argue throughout the book. Man versus self is displayed with
Nicholas contemplating suicide and trying to overcome his own illusions. The
climax of this book occurs when Nicholas finds out that Conchis has been tricking
him the whole time. I found many strengths and very few weaknesses in this book.
It was written very well and is incredibly catching. The writer drags you into the
book with his vocabulary and uses his many writing skills to walk your senses
right through the book. Although his writing was fantastic, sometimes is seems a
bit drawn out. Although this book was written such a long time ago, many of the
lessons apply today! Its technology is something of the future and the plot is still
being used today for TV shows, books, and movies. My favorite part of this book,
was when Chonchis tells Urfe of his war experience and the writer explains how
they stayed in a foxhole for hours while trying to survive. I like it the best because
of the great detail the writer goes into in this part and I also have a fascination with
war stories, so this was perfect for me. I
Cultural Spheres Of Korean Cinema
Sopyonje and Madame Freedom inhabit two unique cultural spheres of Korean
Cinema. While both films show a glimpse into a traditional Korean world; they
were produced in different contexts. Sopyonje, made in 1993, can be considered a
romanticized nostalgia film that projects an image of a Korea that no longer
exists in present day. The film focuses on the story of a non blood related family
who struggles to make a living by traveling through the Korean countryside
performing pansori at parties and private homes. It follows the lives of a father, his
adopted daughter, and his stepson through the 1930s to the 1960s. Many critics
regarded the film as a revival of pride for South Korean culture. By projecting an
image of Koreanness through the inclusion of traditional elements like pansori,
which is considered an authentically Korean form of singing and the depiction of a
false romanticized Korean countryside the film garnered national success.
Unbeknownst to Director Im Kwon taek Sopyonje would go on to become one of
the most popular films in South Korean history. (Cho) Ultimately this movie s
excitement comes from its Koreanness. Its greatest attraction is that it calls up a
nostalgia for [Korean] culture which cannot be found in a contemporary hectic
lifestyle. These were the words of one of Hae Jong Cho s students in a reflection
essay about Sopyonje. The Koreanness that this student is referring to is the
perceived ability of this film to unite Korean people
Tony Blair s Approach to Power Essay
Tony Blair s Approach to Power Since Labour came into power in 1997 Tony Blair
has been criticised by some for being the son of Thatcher . Many say that labour is
now following the values and policies similar to that of a Tory government and in
particular a Tory government lead by Margaret Thatcher. Before the time of Tony
Blair and New Labour, the left wing party stood firm on one value and that was
socialism. More on Labours old Values and policies The conservatives on the other
hand have very different policies or not so different as some may argue. Prime
Minister Margaret Thatcher lead the conservative government from 1979 1990 and

Benefits for the unemployed were amongst those worst affected. The idea behind
this economic change was to make unemployment less attractive, thus forcing the
unemployed to take lower wage jobs. The Conservatives hoped that this would
drastically lower the unemployment rate. And finally, Thatcher reduced and in
some cases withdrew subsidies to many industries, compelling the closure of many
concerns and the more efficient operation of the rest in the face of international
competition. All of these economic changes made by Margaret Thatcher were
extremely right wing with very capitalist values. All her policies were heavily
criticised by Labour which is why it seems strange that Tony Blair has adopted
many of her values and policies. As labour were so against privatisation in the 1980
s most thought that they would try and change things when they were in power.
This of course was not the case and in 1997 Tony Blair s labour government showed
willingness to keep privatisation as an option and private ownership plans were not
disgarded as some thought they might be, they were in fact extended. Blair s
government planned to sell 51% of air traffic control and they also introduced private
ownership in some of the London Underground s busiest lines. He then introduced the
idea of Private Finance Initiative.
What Does It Mean To Be Brave
Bravery can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people. Some people might
think bravery is mainly stupidity, but I can promise you it s plenty more than that.
In order to achieve anything you must be brave enough to fail. Be bold, be brave
enough to be your true self. If it wasn t for brave people in this world there is no
telling where we might be right now. Everyone Is brave in their own way. While
some people think bravery means giving up and laying down or being scared to
face your fears, to me it means that it s a strive that keeps you going no matter what
life throws at you. Bravery is not giving up and laying down. There is a quote that I
like very much and it says The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from

Own A Log Home? What You Should Know About Restoring Termite Damage If
you have a log home, you are most likely aware that it is more susceptible to
termite damage. A small hole could cause major problems with rot within a log,
which is not good for the exterior of your home. That s why you must know how to
identify problems with small holes caused by termites, as well as how to patch
them before they end up being a major problem. Preparing Termite Holes Before
you are able to repair a hole caused by termites, you ll need to clean it out. If the
wood surface is smooth and flat, the filler material you use will have a better chance
of bonding to the wood. You can clean out the inside of a small hole using sandpaper,

After the putty has been applied, it needs a stain so that the patch will match your
home s log exterior. Be aware that the stain you last used on your home s exterior
won t be a perfect match, sine the wood has been exposed to the sun and most
likely has faded over the years. You ll need to use a stain stick, which is wood stain
that rolls on like chap stick. You may need to try several stains until you find one
that is a perfect match after it dries on the wood putty. Using a Liquid Patch A
liquid wood patch will do a great job at penetrating deep into your home s wood
exterior, and will actually hold wood grains together which prevent the wood from
cracking further. The biggest drawback is that the liquid patch is difficult to paint
or stain, so you must get the color right when you are buying it. While you now
know how to patch those termite holes in your log home, it won t matter if you don
t get rid of the termites for good. If not, they ll just keep coming back and making
more holes. Work with a local exterminator that can help get rid of those termites
before you start any
Essay on A Two State Solution
Palestine and Israel have a big fight that should of ended long ago. During the late
nineteenth hundreds the standard Zionist began a movement into the promised land
known as Palestine to reclaim their ancestral homeland (The Origin of..). After
moving into Palestine Zionists started to create an exclusive Jewish state, however
the Arab community caught on to the movement and opposed this by not allowing
Jewish immigration into Palestinealong with not permitting them to buy land. Thus
one can see the struggle Palestine and Israelare involved in currently, which has
transformed the Promised Land into a place with extreme terrorism and constant

Jewish person is held close by the community and the society that they live in. In
other words the Israel should be a state itself with the addition of Palestine because
of the Jewish society and the people Jewish that need to maintain the status of
having a Jewish state. Furthermore Israel s extreme control will not allow the two

that Israel controls almost every decision when it comes to the change in the

to Palestine. However the majority of those who live in east Jerusalem are Jewish.
For that reason Sources such as Water are to be kept under Israeli authority (Abu), not

Sandhill Crane Bird Essay
For my project, I chose a bird I see quite regularly on campus. That bird is the
Sandhill Crane. It is a tall bird with a long slender neck and beak, rusty grey
feathers, and long legs. They are about 1 1.2 meters, or a little over 3 feet tall. In
addition to their ginormous height, for a bird, their wingspan is as equally
magnificent; measuring in at roughly 1.8 2 meters, or 5.9 feet! This is quite an
impressive wingspan.
This is a bird I see year round all over Florida, though the Birds of North America
chart shows that they are in Polk County during the winter months. The Sandhill
Crane can be found in wetlands or grassy fields near wetland looking for food or
even a place to breed. This type of eco system is best for this bird because it is
designed to walk around and look for food such as crawfish, worms, snakes, mice,
eggs, etc. Obviously, this bird is not meant to be perched up in a tree somewhere;
but rather it is seen walking around grasslands instead of flying. Its long legs give it
a huge advantage for hunting; essentially, they help the bird be able to stand in
shallow water and still be well above the surface of the water to search for prey.
However, a Sandhill Cranes diet is only partially meat. In most cases they can be
found eating plant material around a wetland, or even some crops from and
agricultural field.
Sandhill Cranes are mostly active during daylight hours only; unless it is during a
migration season, in which some birds will complete their
Over Concentration Of Services Essay
This study identifies four strands of thought that outline the factors which can lead to
the over concentration of services; traditional trade theory, new trade theory, new
economic geography theory and the interplay between globalisation and competition.
It is from this four factors in which the negative effects of the over concentration of
services are created. These negative effects will be discussed and analysed in a bid to
understand what can done to reduce them. Polycentricity and territorial cohesion
policy, and the measures associated with their implications, are identified as the tools
for reducing the negative effects of over concentration. The study also questions the
extent of success of these tools. Europeis viewed as the best platform to comprehend
the relevant concepts and thus will provide the context in which to carry out the study.
Traditional trade theory explains the over concentration of services through variations
in labour skills and other contributions to production (Heckscher 1919; Ohlin 1933),
or in productivity (Ricardo 1917). These differences establish comparative advantages
(Ricardo 1917) between cities, regions and countries. Thus, trade allows the
concentration of services to grow and shrink in reaction to these advantages.
In reality, cities, regions and countries may have different production arrangements
but similar production technologies (Krugman 1991a). Post Fordist countries
predominantly trade goods of a similar product type, i.e.
Database Management Systems Or Dbms
Database Management Systems or DBMS are essential software s for databases
that take in information to be processed, organized, and analyzed. DBMS play a
significant role in many things we interact with on the daily like the internet.
DBMS can be on a small scale for individual use or on a larger scale for a company
looking to keep track of all the data they collect.
Each database is custom designed for the company, or organization that will use it.
Records are kept in databases and each record is very unique in its own way
having different fields for what it pertains to. Each record has something that
makes it unique that the other records don t have. Text, number, dates, and amounts
of money are all different computations for DBMS. All of this information is
separated into fields and this is how Big Data is sorted and accessible and
understandable. The data can be put in manually or sometimes it is computer
assisted when it is more efficient. For example: a program may catch on if you are
doing monthly reports and create a section for all 12 months after one is manually
made.
The use of Database Management Systems can date back to 1966. The program
was made by IBM with the help of other companies for the Apollo Program. It was
designed to keep track of the bill of materials for space crafts and other things
involving the trip to space. This database used a hierarchical format which can be
considered a tree like structure which is still used today. At the top of the
Sports Negative Essay
Eyes are glued to the scenes of a human body pushed to the limit. Powers clashing by
the work of people who didn t back down to get to where they want. Sports has been a
culture for generations within America and has shaped how we think and act in our
daily lives. Strangers come together to watch and relate to one another which creates
a bond. Even the athletes that train as opponents respect each other and acknowledge
the efforts that each individual puts in to succeed. This culture creates hard working
individuals, breaks down glass ceilings, and brings Americans together. Glory comes
from the success of trials that each individual has gone through. Athletes who go
against the world as representatives of America goes through those trials. Sports
injuries cause about 2.6 million visits to the ER (Thiel). Pushing the limits of athletes
can be cruel and can restrain their minds. They go through the pain of being brought
down to become stronger than before. Difficulties include health risks like
overtraining, malnutrition, drug abuse, and playing while injured (Thiel). They push
away how they feel in that moment while they pursue their reason to become the best
at what they do. Americans look up to these athletes that achieve their goals because
people look to success. Admiration causes a positive chain reaction to be like the
American athletes who win. America takes pride in the majority of sports teams that
represent the country. Opinions do not matter when actions
Multi-objective Reconfiguration of Electrical Distribution...
EDSs are mainly designed meshed but operated radially for some technical and
financial concerns. Distribution networks can be represented with a graph in
ordered pairs consisting of a set of vertices, i.e. buses and a set of edges, i.e.
branches; in terms of mathematics this equivalents to a sparse matrix which its non
zero elements signifies the existence of an edge in the system. On this basis a
typical distribution network is radial if it forms a treewhere each load bus is exactly
supplied from one source node, i.e. substation bus [11]. This suggests MOEDNRC
problem as identifying the set of non dominated trees of the given graph. In this
section we ve devised a heuristic technique based on this idea as well as the rules
defined in [30] to retain the connectivity and radial properties of individuals during
the optimization process. It s worth mentioning that these properties are broadly
disturbed by EAs due to the stochastic nature of these algorithms unless a heuristic
plan is devised to preserve the mentioned properties. As a result generation of
infeasible agents in sheer numbers by EAs is quite a normal observation. The
proposed technique is able to prevail over this shortcoming and would increase the
performance of EAs as well. Before proceeding with the designed technique, some
terminologies are first introduced to set the stage for the plan.

The term LV is used to identify branches contributing to forming loops in EDSs when

Comparing Spinster And Mad Girl s Love Song
The chirping of birds, the fragrant scent of flowers, and the unfurling buds on trees
could be peaceful picture to some. Others may view it as disconcertingly chaotic.
The flushed cheeks and beating heart of love could be magical and beautiful. Others
see it as a destructive anxiety. In Mad Girl s LoveSong , Sylvia Plath uses villanelle
form to convey how the speakers unfulfilled desire for happiness is driving her mad.
In Spinster , Plath communicates a person s desire for isolation and control over the
anxiety of emotions. In both poems, the juxtaposition of contrasting imageries
illustrate the poems meanings.

In addition to containing contrasting images, they also use various figurative and
musical devices to further emphasize their meanings. In Mad Girl s Love Song ,
the speaker describes her emotional state. When she opens her eyes to the absence
of her lover, the stars go waltzing out in blue and red, and arbitrary blackness
gallops in, I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. Although the speaker s life
used to be filled with vivid colors and life, she is now unable to unshake the black
depression. Where there once was various colors now is the empty void of black,
arbitrary without any feeling. The personification of these colors demonstrate the
lack of control she has over her emotional state because these colors can
independently gallop and waltz in and out of her life. The emptiness that the
depression brings causes her to escape her emotional state and shut [her] eyes so
all the world drops dead . The repetition of the harsh d sound and all the world
drops dead create an ominous tone, alluding to a more tragic end suicide. While
the girl in Mad Girl s Love Song is trying to find positive emotions, the woman in
Spinster shys away from emotions in general. Her isolation is connected with war
as a barricade of barb and check against mutinous weather as no mere man could
hope to break with any curse, fist, threat, or love . The descriptions of barbed wire

Post Negotiation Analysis Les Florets Essay
Post negotiation Analysis of Les Florets Case
This case particularly resonates with me because it highlights the problems that arise
when two individuals have reference points which do not overlap. An impasse was
reached between myself (VP of operations for Les Florets) and the Restaurant owner
and this was primarily due to the fact that we both had reference points with a ceiling
which we felt we could not exceed.
Going into this negotiation as the VP of operations my goal was to primarily succeed
in buying the restaurant. Prior to starting the negotiation, i identified several certain
non monetary concessions that could be made to sweeten the deal such as paying a
percentage of travel expenses, and also allowing the restaurant owner ... Show more

I explained that one of the primary reasons why the restaurant seemed to be doing
so well was because of the brand name of Les Florets and that we could just easily
open another restaurant across the street if we wanted to but that we wanted a
semblance of continuity for our customers . Although I expected this ploy to work
it seemed to make things worse as the owner retorted that he had several offers on
the table and could just easily sell the restaurant or any one and let that person
worry about keeping the Les Florets name and maintaining its profitability and that
won t be his problem. At this point I was in a dilemma , having resorted to strong
arm tactics and failed miserably (primarily because the owner wanted to test my
resolve) was there a way to get back into favor?
There were several factors that culminated into the ultimate inability to reach an
agreement. Firstly, was the differing priorities of both parties , while I was focused
on reaching a deal and considered an impasse to be a failure , the other party was
more focused on money and all the benefits offered paled in comparison as
mentioned by the owner compared to the money foregone. Secondly, the owner
seemed to want the property independently valued and then sell at this price.
Knowing that the valuation was more than I could offer, I could not agree to this and

Infancy In Medieval Europe
Medieval Europe was a challenging time for children and their lives were anything
but normal. Children were classified by their families social group which they had
no part in. Children had a lot of different stages in their lives and were put through
difficulties that would be hard to achieve as a child. Their daily lives varied among
their social statusand family status. Their education, work, play, and many other
things were affected by their family s social status. Infancy was a challenging time
in Medieval Europe as many of them did not make it due to malnutrition and poor
living conditions. Living conditions were not ideal for some families due to the
income that was coming in. The income was usually not a big portion which made
it hard to provide for children and a family. Children had to provide and fend for
themselves in some situations. Mothers were also at risk when they gave birth to
children due to weak bodies and malnutrition. Providing for the child was often
difficult for some due to the work and stress that was on the mother s body. As an
infant in Medieval Europe things were very challenging. Life was very difficult and
it left many children malnourished or even dead. (www.thoughtco.com) Children
were not all treated the same, it often depended on the family s social class and their
lives. Children were split up into two categories; nobility and common and their lives
depended on their groups. Infancy lasted until the child reached age seven. Before the
Argumentative Essay On Mexican Migrant Workers
The phenomenal growth farming, minding, railroad construction, and commercial
fishing all have a story of transnational families and shattered dreams. With the
coming of the Mexican Revolution in 1910, many mexicans fled north to the
United States in order to escape the bloodshed in search of new lives. Sadly their
dream for a better life did not come true. Migrant workers work for low wages in
extreme conditions such as extreme heat, discomfort, and danger, as well as
struggling to have a stable life for their families. The disastrous great depression
left many people unemployed. As a result, a large number of caucasian people
took over many migrant workers jobs in California. This left many Mexicans and
Filipinos desperate and willing to do anything for money. Farm workers were
often unpaid and were denied the right to unionize, a right that all other American
workers enjoyed. Migrant workers are from different ethnicities such as Mexicans,
Mexican Americans, Europeans, but most of the population is made up of
Mexican migrant workers. Migrant workers lived a very harsh work environment
as well as a harsh society interactions. Mexican farm workers were offered a legally
binding work contract, but the majority suffered gross abuses of their labor rights
and racial discrimination. Migrant workers have always played a vital role in the
US economy, so they should not be treated as illegal or undeserving individuals.
People have always harassed migrant workers and soon it
The Sources Of Injustice Explained By Simone De Beauvoir
WoMEN
(An Analysis of the Sources of Injustice Explained by Simone de Beauvoir in Second
Sex)
The idea of feminism and women s rights have been under attack for years. Women
themselves have been under attack for their entire lives. Women always have to be
doing things correctly or men attack their very being. Men have expected women to
be submissive to them from the beginning of time, as life has always been a
patriarchy. Feminism has always been buried under the dirt but in the last 50 100
years, it has been exhumed from the grave. In this time women have been fighting for
rights, especially through literature. As Amanda J. Davis explains in her essay about
feminism, Authors deconstruct such concepts as home, safety, and shelter in their
respective texts and reposition them in the context of social injustices born out of the
volatile intersection of race, class, and gender oppression. (Davis) There have been
many women authors who have helped define feminism, one of the most famous
being Simone de Beauvoir. Beauvoir taught herself philosophy and then began her
own teaching career and authorship. Her novel Second Sex quickly became a
beacon of the feminist movement in the 1950 s. She writes about the causes and
effects of the oppression shown to women all around the world, especially in the
United States. Simone de Beauvoir shows in The Second Sex that there are many
sources of injustice toward women including biological, social and economic, and
legal. As Beauvoir
Frederick Douglas And Solomon Northrup Essay
Throughout the years slaveholders made claims that justified why the institution of
slavery was acceptable, however, many abolitionist made claims that differed the
majority opinion. Abolitionist began to publicize stories advocating truths about this
institution. Fredrick Douglas and Solomon Northrup shared their life stories where
they exposed their experiences as slaves in the Southern world.Slaves holders make
several arguments to justify slavery, meanwhile, slaves themselves completely
disagree with all the things the masters claim. Violence versus paternalism, true
christianity and hypocritical christianity, and the role knowledge and ignorance
and whether slaves are truly happily plays are all powerful ideas in both sides
convey . To begin with, slave masters thought of themselves as a paternal figure.
George Fizhugh, an author who advocates slavery, explains this interesting concept
of Blacks being viewed as childlike people. He states the Negro is but a grown up
child, and must be governed as child, not as lunatic or criminal. The master
occupies toward him the place of parent or guardian .The masters truly believed that
they were meant to be paternal to these underprivileged folks who did not have (and
in some cases, know) parents or families. They believed they were meant to raise
and care for the Blacks that entered their plantations. However, slaves told a different
story. Fredrick Douglass and Solomon Northup s experiences show how brutal and

Rogier Van der Weyden Essay
Rogier Van der Weyden was a Flemish painter of the mid 15th century. Rogier was
chiefly influenced by his first teacher, Robert Campin. Although details of his early
training are sketchy, it is generally accepted that he entered the workshop of Robert
Campin, the foremost painter in Tournai and dean of the paintersguild, in 1427 at the
age of 27 (http://www.belgium.be). Rogier remained in Campin s studio for five
years, becoming an independent master of the guild on August 1, 1432. Van der

Campin was not the only source of inspiration in Rogier s art. Jan van Eyck, the great
painter from Bruges, also profoundly affected the developing artist, introducing
elegance and subtle visual refinements into the bolder, Campinesque components of
such early paintings by Rogier as St. Luke Painting the Virgin. It was in Bruges,
where Rogier may have resided between 1432 and 1435, that he became thoroughly
acquainted with van Eyck s style (http://humanitiesweb.org). The spiritual essence of
a scene was displayed with similar technical virtuosity by Van der Weyden. His
international renown was exceeded only by that of Hugo van der Goes, who united
van Eyck s naturalism with penetrating studies of humanity(Eyewitness Books,
Renaissance, 20.) Rogier may well have also been influenced by the writings of
Thomas a Kempis, the most popular theologian of the era, whose quot;practical
mysticism, quot; like Rogier s paintings, stressed empathetic response to episodes
from the lives of Mary, Christ, and the saints (http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth

Rogier did a great service to northern art. He saved much of the tradition of lucid
design that might otherwise have been lost under the impact of Jan van Eyck s
discoveries (The Story of Art, 276).
While on a pilgrimage to Italy in 1450, Rogier apparently tutored Italian

Time is the key difference in a new religious movement and a religion. There were
thousands of failed religious movements most come to fall from failing to popularize
and convince people of the world that their word is the best word.Currently there are
four hundred two confirmed new religious movements. This is little to the four
thousand two hundred estimated religions on earth. One of the many reasons
American colonist seized from the British, was the heavy religious control of
Christianity there. When they finally claimed independence one of the first things
declared was the freedom of religion, allowing all to practice their religion within the
united states without persecution, but freedom at what cost?
Numerous amount of studies have taken place on why new religious movements are
so popular. It seems to be people have some mental disorder that leads them to
believe that they have no purpose in life and everything they do is just a sham. recent
study by the National Institute of Mental Health found that approximately 20% of the
general population has at least one psychiatric
Aol s Balance Sheet
AOL was able to beat out Prodigy and CompuServe because of the amount of
marketing that AOL used to gain customers. AOL was famous for blanketing
college campuses, book stores and random people by buying mailing list shipping
out free CD s that gave customer a free trial period to try AOL and then
successfully converting those customers to paying customer. Because of the
unprecedented amount of CD s they gave to potential customers via the mail, as
well as being available in public places, providing access to a carrier that was
previously only available if the customer actually went to the effort to acquire a disc
for access. They also invested in their network to increase modem capacity, had low

The Balance Sheet give investors an idea what the company owns, and owes, as

The main purpose of the cash flow statement is to show the entrance and exit of cash,
and whether the cash gained as a result of the company s operations activities,
investing or financing activities. A cash flow statement of a healthy company would
show that the density of cash entrance comes from its operating activities. The net

The Crucible Theme Analysis
The Crucible is a play with an abundance of themes. Each of the characters have a
theme that contributes to the overall theme of the story as well. The Crucible shows
unjust decisions controlled by manipulated courts and envious girls. The court
officials put 200 people through the misery of being accused of practicing acts
associated with the devil, and they executed 20. The theme that comes to mind after
these actions are brought up is inequity. Abigail accused many people in the town of
Salemof actions that they did not do. She made the marriage of John and Elizabeth
Proctorunstable by still trying to steal John from Elizabeth even though John was
trying to regain the trust of his wife. Another theme that is present is that
reputations can be altered easily. Going back to the Abigail and John incident,
John s reputation was brought down when the court found out that he cheated on
his wife. Another example of how reputations are judged in this play is when John
didn t want his name posted on the church door. His name would have been
frowned upon since it would have been on the list of people who practiced
witchcraft, and he knew people would think less of him (62). Abigail also fed false
accusations about well respected people in the town of Salem. Abigail had told the
court that Elizabeth Proctor had been practicing the devil s work, and Elizabeth then
got taken away even though she hadn t had done anything (37). A good reputation
can be easily faltered, and it is a

In conclusion, the Walt Disney Company provides families across America and
around the world with quality entertainment for every member in the family. The
culture of the Walt Disney Company includes six main values that makes Disney
stand out; 1) innovation, 2) quality, 3) community, 4) storytelling, 5) optimism, and
6) decency (Culture, n.d.). Along with the culture making the Disney Company
successful, the company s ability to communicate also helps to make the successful.
According to the article Working their Magic: Disney Culture molds happy
employees , Disney strongly believes extensive communication is key to a satisfied
workforce (2003). The way that the company handles communication plays right into
the company s culture because it helps the cast members to put their best efforts
forward when it comes to innovation, quality, community, storytelling, optimism, and
decency. Even though the Walt Disney Company strives to have good
communication, there is always a chance for some kind of conflict to arise. Conflict
of interest is one example of a conflict that can arise in the company. The Walt Disney
Company can use these conflicts to improve communication within and among
groups by using them as examples for future references.

Grease Analysis
The year is 1959 and America is going through one of the most pivotal moments of
its cultural history: when rock gave birth to the Sexual Revolution. Grease,
considered by some to be A fantasy of the 50 s (Canby) and 50s nostalgia fun
(Boyle), is in fact a direct parallel and excellent representation of America s
turbulent graduation from the 50s to the 60s, from repression to freedom, from
calmed to riotous. This hour and fifty minute roller coaster of a movie inspired by
a rowdy, concupiscent, and altogether brilliant piece of Broadway theater rejects
the stereotypes of the time for musicals and attempts a purer experience to reveal
the underlying truths of American culture. Set during the 1958 9 school year,
Grease is set at the same time as the preliminary examples of the Sexual
Revolution. Allowed to be viewed through the lens of the heart of the Sexual
Revolution in the 70s (the film was released in 1978), Grease therefore offered a
vision of the past to the clumsy but clearly emerging sexual freedom brought about
by Rock and Roll. Starting even from the beginning, the musical offers a glimpse of
the revolution through the title song Grease with lyrics like We start believing now
that we can be who we are to exemplify a motif of the movie and the revolution:
authenticity and freedom. Starting with authenticity, a term often used to describe
the rock and roll generation, Grease offers a snapshot to the time just before teen
sexuality exploded, allowing an
Investigating The Logic Behind Mergers And Merger
Between...
Scholars have developed theories that have attempted to explain the logic behind
mergers and takeover. DePamphilis (2010) notes that there are several theories and
hypothesis linked to mergers and takeovers some of which include efficiency theory,
agency theory, diversification hypothesis and market power hypothesis. This paper
will analyze the efficiency and agency theories on the merger between the US
AirwaysGroup and the AMR Corporations that led to the creation of American
Airlines Group Inc. (AAL) because they offer an appropriate rationale for the merger
based on the outcome.
According to Risberg (2013), the efficiency theory argues that mergers are
organizational strategies that are implemented to achieve three types of synergies,
namely financial synergy, operational synergy and managerial synergy. Generally, the
acquirer firm will have considered the target s capable assets and resources and
presume that they can be beneficial to its own development. The synergy concept
reinforces this idea when it comes to mergers. For instance, the synergy concept
argues that mergers allow the combining of the efficient parts of the companies and
the discarding of parts that are considered redundant. Johnson (2014) observes that
synergy occurs in varying ways, for instance, when companies combine their different
competitive advantages, potential tax benefit, or high manpower. Any factor that
raises the market value of the merging firms is called a synergy. This means that the
Early Jamestown Settlers
Rich businessmen from London in 1606 created a petition for King James 1 to
create a charter to create a colony in the New World. Together those businessmen
created the Virginia Company, their goal was to create a permanent town in the
name of the British government in the New World. So 105 people in 1607 boarded a
ship and traveled to the New World. When they arrived they would create the famous
first English colony, called Jamestown. The people aboard the ship weren t exactly
the farmer agriculture type. They were wealthy individuals and their servants. They
colonist had planned on hunting, gathering and trade with the natives to suffice. They
thought they could force the native to give them their resources but they were very

Because of this lack of preparation and the colonist distain of farming, the colony
quickly became starved and where quickly crippled with disease. Due to poor
sanitation, living on a swamp, bugs, and unclean and polluted water at the end of
1607 only 34 men survived. Overtime more and more people would migrate to
Jamestown, over 6,000 people would come but within the span of 13 years only
1,300 individuals would survive. Over time Chief Powhatan of the Algonquian tribe
saw how week the colonists were and decided that they could be easily removed
from his land. So in 1618 he planned an attack to destroy the town but it did not
succeed. Because of this Chief Powhatan decide to form an alliance with the English
colonist by marrying his daughter, Pocahontas, to John Rolfe. But as expected the

Miraculous Lost And Found Analysis
It is extremely important to tell your friends and family where you are going
whenever you go out hiking or doing other activities. Sharing where you are going
and when you will arrive back to a family member or friend can save your life. If
you don t tell someone where you are going, it could cost you your life! Just by
telling someone it assures that if something bad happens to you and you need help,
you can get it.
In Miraculous Lost and Found by Katherine Leonard, Aron Ralston was hiking Blue
John Canyon when he was trapped by an 800 pound boulder. Aron didn t tell
anyone where he was going or told what time he was going to be back and didn t
have any sort of telephone service; Aron was completely alone. Aron spent most of
4 days waiting on someone to come and find him; nobody came. Aron was forced
to cut off his own arm to rescue himself. Aron was forced to rappel down a 65 foot
wall with only 1 arm and he had to walk 8 miles to find a family that got him help.

Sam Cheeseman Case
The contract is a legally enforceable promise or a set of promises. The four
elements of the contract are 1) the agreement, 2) the consideration, 3) contractual
capability, and 4) lawful object (Cheeseman, 2015, p. 188). These elements are
required to exist for a contract between Sam and the chain store to be valid. The first
element of the contract is the agreement which is a combination of the offer and an
acceptance which both need to exist. The agreement between Sam and the chain
store exists because Sam had verbally agreed to send 1,000 units to the chain store,
as per conversation with the store manager. The second element of the valid contract
is the consideration which could exist if both parties, Sam and the chain store, had

The equitable doctrine of implied in law contract, a quasi contract, would have
allowed the court to award monetary damages to a plaintiff for providing work or
services to a defendant even though no actual contract existed between the parties
(Cheeseman, 2015, p. 195). This would apply to the situation in which Sam
received some form of payment for his units before he shipped the units to the store.
In this case, Sam would have been under the legal obligation to send the units to the
chain store. Promissory estoppel (or detrimental reliance) is an equity doctrine that
permits a court to order enforcement of a contract that lacks consideration
(Cheeseman, 2015, p. 220). Promissory estoppel is used to avoid injustice. The
elements of the promissory estoppel include the promisor making a promise, the
promiseГ© replying to the promise, the promiseГ© taking action on the promise, and
experiencing injustice when the promise was not enforced. The promissory estoppel
in this case is invalid because there was no discussion about the compensation in
return for the 1,000 units, no action based on the promise, and no injustice suffered
as a result of fulfilling a
How Is Antoine Portrayed In The 400 Blows
The True Pain Of Punishment in 400 Blows In the film, The 400 Blows, Antoine s no
stranger to punishment. Antoine s engulfed in controversy, essentially from the
beginning. Although he is not the only troubled and misguided student in his class,
he is by far, the only child punished exceptionally harshly in public. Antoine s
humiliation from his teacher, coupled with his distant, irresponsible and immoral
mother as a parental figure in his life causes him a lot of internal conflict. Without
someone there to guide him, these circumstances are bound to, in essence, cultivate
the extremely poor environmental conditions that stifle Antoine s growth into
maturity. Therefore, almost by default, Antoine becomes a juvenile delinquent

She is morally corrupt. Antoine witnesses his mother committing adultery by kissing
another man. She pretends not to have seen him watching her. She doesn t have any

why he decides to ditch school. Surprisingly, she chooses to completely neglect
Antoine. She calls her husband, lies to him about her whereabouts so she can leave
him with the full responsibilities of caring for Antoine. Her lack of good judgment
sparks an argument between her and her husband. She clearly does not show him, nor
Antoine any type of remorse for her behavior. However, she puts a deeper wedge
between her, her husband and Antoine by claiming that she should have sent Antoine
to boarding school so she could have a respite. There is no appreciation for Antoine s
stepfather caring for Antoine on her behalf. It s no secret that Antoine s mother
wanted to abort him, but her constant reminders of her disdain for him further drives
him emotionally away. This was so damaging to Antoine that on the next day at
school, he tells the school administration that his mother is dead. Antoine s mother is
financially irresponsible. When Antoine asks her for lunch money, she sends him
away to ask his stepfather instead. On another occasion, the morning Antoine s
mother rushes him awake from sleep, his pajamas

Essay on Earnings Management During Import Relief...
Earnings Management During Import Relief Investigations
Earnings Management During Import Relief Investigations was written by Jennifer J.
Jones. It illustrates her study and examination of the effects of managing reported
earnings to alleviate the costs of tariffs and quota increases on import businesses. The
ITC or (United States International Trade Commission) conducts relief investigations
on companies that import goods so they can make a determination on the import relief
rate. The ITC sets the import relief after reviewing a plethora of factors. Some factors
include the profitability of the industry and the trends in profitability.
Import relief is described as a set of federally imposed regulations which are
designated to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The import companies really don t lose much when the import relief goes up. The
cost of importing goods to the United States and paying the import relief is most
often cheaper than manufacturing goods in the United States. The ITC looks at a
company s earnings before taxes. To circumvent the ITC the managers of import
companies often use multiple accrual accounts. By playing somewhat of a shell game
with the ITC the import companies are able to hide assets or shift them to the next
quarter to show a lower profit margin. The author conducted a cross sectional
investigation of the accrual accounts of import companies.
Her investigation revealed that the import companies suddenly report lower earnings
and income just before the investigation period. The obvious concern of the import
industry is illustrated by the drastic counter measures put in place by the managers
of import companies. The methodology of the ITC is effective at protecting
domestic producers and the American economy but it puts import companies in a
difficult situation. When presented by the moral dilemma of altering reported
income import companies must make a decision which in the minds of many
theorists is not a decision at all. Because businesses are driven by profits and
managers are paid by the shareholders to protect the best interest of the company they
are forced to
Love By Christopher Marlowe And The Nymph s Reply To
His Love
Throughout The Passionate Shepherd to His Love by Christopher Marlowe and
The Nymph s Reply to The Shepherd by Sir Walter Raleigh, both of these poets
propose opposing viewpoints on love, nature, time, and the material world.
Throughout the poems, you can look at how each thing that they say are pretty
different from one another. The way that these authors propose their feelings can
change the way that you feel towards these things as well. Most of all, their point of
views contrast with each other the whole time. Love can be different emotions
typically felt in a positive way like the Shepherds view, but also can be negative like
the Nymph feels. In the Shepherds poem, love is not possible without nature because
all things come from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Shepherd believes that time strengthens love because the more time he was to
spend with the Nymph the more love they would have for one another, If these
delights thy mind may move, Then live with me and be my love . He also thinks
that time doesn t exist in nature by believing that when you see all the beauties in
nature you will forget how much time is going by, By shallow rivers to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals . Although, the Nymph believes that time will
eventually reveal the truth because she knows that everything he is offering is not
gonna last forever, The rest complains of care to come . Also, she believes that
time is limited because life is short and you can t enjoy it forever, Time drives the
flocks from field to fold . They both have different viewpoints on time and what
can happen in the time they have. The material world can be seen as the things that
the Shepherd is trying to give to the Nymph to win her over, which she does not
think the same way as him about these things. The Shepherd wants to use
materialistic things to buy happiness like how he was going to make different
things to give to his love, A gown made of the finest wool . He believes that
material things are an expression of love because by letting her know he would give
her a bed of roses he thinks she will love him because of that, Then live with me

  • 2. The Origins Of Yoga And The Second School Being Hatha Yoga In 1893, a man by the name of Vivekananda came to speak at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago. He captivated his audience with the exotic Indian practice of Yoga. His message permeated throughout the United States while capturing the minds of brilliant Americans such as Gertrude Stein. Vivekananda as well as the Doctrine of Yogawere a sensation, but what has become of the mystical practice known as yoga. In this paper I will discuss the origins of yoga in the West, various schools of thought associated with yoga and with a focus on two in particular: the first being Raja yoga (royal yoga) and the second school being Hatha yoga. Dr. John Renard illustrates the relation between these to schools concisely and effectively in The Handy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The young monk made a profound impression on the people who attended the speech. His speech left people spellbound and enchanted. He was able to simplify Vedanta thought in such way that it was more digestible for westerners and more importantly he conveyed the idea that all souls were inherently divine. His mantra was relatable to American, work and worship. Vivekananda became a star overnight. He proceeded to tour the country to further the doctrine of yoga across the nation. Yet the yoga we see across our country is very different from the yogic tradition Vivekananda was teaching. In fact Vivekananda had an absolute lack of interest in the physical aspect of yoga we see today in our society. His goal in America was to help Americans realize God. He was considered the first missionary from the east to the west and it was his goal to help Americans rid themselves of this American individualism. He wanted to rise above the western perception of the east being this exotic and magical place and to deliver truth to people. He felt very strongly about his proselytization. He was quoted saying, I have a message to the West as Buddha had a message to the East. That being said Vivekananda was a man of this world. He had reportedly been seen smoking and eating meat, so this man was far from perfect. Yet nevertheless this man had quite the following. In fact Leo Tolstoy was very

Following are few landmarks in otology regarding ear surgeries: The potential of ear suppuration was clearly described by Hippocrates (460 376 BC). The Greek physician Galen (AD129 217), among others, recognized the importance of draining an infected ear. In his writings, he suggested that otorrhea was beneficial for the infected ear because it allowed the drainage of purulent secretions from the ear and recommended against any procedure intended to impede otorrhea Hieronymus Meculiasis (1530 1606 AD), gave the clinical description of ear disease12 . The first documented surgical incision to drain an infected ear was described by the French... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mosher, in 1911, started the idea of mastoid obliteration to promote healing of a mastoidectomy defect. • 4. Unrealistic Image Of The Perfect Body Through Social Media All over America there are teens with low self esteem, self harm, depression, and many more medical issues. In most cases this can be caused by one thing, the lack of being accepted. Teens in this age have phones and social media, so it is pushed on them with images, articles, videos, crittercism that if they do not have the perfect body they aren t as good and aren t as important. The big catch with all this criticism is that the perfect body comes naturally which is not true. Women are told they should have big breast, big butt, curvy but not fat. For a man they are expected to be tall slender and strong. But most of this stuff does not come naturally. In nearly every picture you see of a woman or a man that is perfect they have ... The unit frequently scores one of the highest HCAPs within PinnacleHealth on a monthly basis when compared to other nursing units, but it is not without headache. Like previously stated, CG4 is approximately forty percent staffed with nurses. When analyzing the causes of this issue, a few patterns can be identified. Clark (2009) explains there are two relevant reasons why nursing staff continue to leave CG4. First, the nursing staff is primarily single females less than thirty years of age. This causes for rapid turnover with many nurses aspirations to travel to big cities and obtain various experiences as nurse early in their career. There is a pull
  • 6. Team Building And Development Team Topics Paper Priya Babukumar Sullivan University MGT 597 CPT Externship Class August 25th, 2015 Team Building and Development It takes extraordinary leadership to assemble great teams. Leaders who are not reluctant to course right, making challenging choices and launch principles of implementation that are continually being met and enhancing them at all times. Whether in the working environment, expert sports, or our nearby community, team building needs a keen understanding of individuals, their merits and what makes them eager to work with others. Llopis mentioned, Team building is both an art and a science and the manager who constantly brings out great performance teams is worth their weight in gold (2012). Building organizations needs the knowledge and skill to build ever lasting teams. This is the reason why most managers can never become leaders and why most leaders never achieve the utmost summit of success. It involves the knack to ace the craft of individuals and knowing how to move hundreds of individuals at the right place and at the right time. It means to know how each individual thinks and how to best use their skills properly at all times. It s like playing a continuous match of chess realizing that each incorrect move can cost the organization thousands of dollars, if not millions (Llopis, 2012). All through life, we all like to be made to feel commendable and acknowledged, realizing that our presence can be a piece of vital

Writing may be known as a bore to others who cant seem to find their own writing style, but if you have that gift of writing it comes easy no matter what subject or topic. That s where my liking for writingcomes in. I ve always been able to take a topic and write about it without any problems. Once my brain gets going, its hard to stop. Several years ago, I found my passion for writing. I was sitting in English class, the lights dimmed and everyone starring into the teachers soul as she explained an writing assignment we had to do. She told us to make up a story about what we thought the future was going to be like when we became adults. At first, the topic didn t interest me. I felt as if the future was going to be the same as it was at that time. I didn t know what to write. It was way too cold in the class and the scents of pumpkin pie and sweaty gym socks surrounding the air didn t seem to help the situation much either. After a few minutes of thinking, so many ideas popped in my head, I didn t know how to control it. I started jotting down everything that came to mind, then I went back to organize it so I could start writing. Once my teacher seen what I was doing, she asked Who taught you this technique? I told her it s just something I ve always done, she then told me that s a good technique to

I am very easily distracted (literally ADD), so for me listening is a very hard task to do especially if I m not that interested in what the other person has to say. I need to practice active listening more. I believe my biggest weakness for active listening is I always try to put my two cents in. Sometimes people just want to be heard. I m very opinionated so it s hard for me to understand that people don t want my opinion. My next big weakness for active listening is not paying attention or discarding what people have to say. In a group work environment not paying attention to what others say is one of the worst things that you can do. I think that even

When I wore it up, I would use a big, colorful, flashy scrunchie to put my hair into a ponytail. The ponytail would always be at the very top of my head and very big. The company s corporate governance is constituted by a board of nine directors including Larry Probst (Chairman) and Andrew Wilson (CEO). Hawkins envisioned EA as a publishing company that would be known for its quality and professionalism, working with the best independent talent to make the gaming industry equivalent to movies, books or music. Consumers, employees and shareholders are the main stakeholders in the company. EA hopes to build lifetime players by relentlessly improving quality. It is known that Hawkins wanted to properly credit and compensate the talent that developed games, giving them the same respect that artists in other media enjoyed. In a normal oak aging process the amount of surface area of the barrel is stationary and only has a finite amount of the actual oak coming into contact with the Spirts within. In re thinking the process the eureka moment came when instead of putting the spirits inside the barrel basically the barrel is turned inside out and the sprits now surround the Oak. In the process a negative pressure is applied which draws the alcohol into the wood at much higher rate and getting full penetration of the wood to maximize the drawing the flavors from the Oak. Another unique result of this method is that you can do much more of a customization of the actual ending flavor profile. In a traditional method the Charring of the barrel is ordered from the cooper when they have made the barrel. The charring on the inside of the barrel can be altered to end up with a different end result depending on how deep the charring is done. With this new method the wood is made into actual chips which are then toasted for a period of time at a high temperature and it changes the Carmelization profile depending on the extent of the toasting. You can now eliminate certain flavor notes or bring certain flavor notes into a finished product in a much more consistent level than was ever possible in the past. Another thing that can be done during the aging process is to introduce other types of woods in the finished flavor profiles. It can be done using woods

The plan contains the idea of putting himself on the line for the good of the community: He leaps into the water not with a design to lay claim or bring liberty to a soggy bottom, but with the hope of defeating the Grendelkin on their own turf so that the land above mere level be made safe for men again (Falk 5).Consequently, all the fame goes to Beowulf for his successes in defeating Grendel and Grendel s mother. While both films show a glimpse into a traditional Korean world; they were produced in different contexts. Sopyonje, made in 1993, can be considered a romanticized nostalgia film that projects an image of a Korea that no longer exists in present day. The film focuses on the story of a non blood related family who struggles to make a living by traveling through the Korean countryside performing pansori at parties and private homes. It follows the lives of a father, his adopted daughter, and his stepson through the 1930s to the 1960s. Many critics regarded the film as a revival of pride for South Korean culture. By projecting an image of Koreanness through the inclusion of traditional elements like pansori, which is considered an authentically Korean form of singing and the depiction of a false romanticized Korean countryside the film garnered national success. Unbeknownst to Director Im Kwon taek Sopyonje would go on to become one of the most popular films in South Korean history. (Cho) Ultimately this movie s excitement comes from its Koreanness. Its greatest attraction is that it calls up a nostalgia for [Korean] culture which cannot be found in a contemporary hectic lifestyle. These were the words of one of Hae Jong Cho s students in a reflection essay about Sopyonje. The Koreanness that this student is referring to is the perceived ability of this film to unite Korean people

It is a tall bird with a long slender neck and beak, rusty grey feathers, and long legs. They are about 1 1.2 meters, or a little over 3 feet tall. In addition to their ginormous height, for a bird, their wingspan is as equally magnificent; measuring in at roughly 1.8 2 meters, or 5.9 feet! This is quite an impressive wingspan. This is a bird I see year round all over Florida, though the Birds of North America chart shows that they are in Polk County during the winter months. The Sandhill Crane can be found in wetlands or grassy fields near wetland looking for food or even a place to breed. This type of eco system is best for this bird because it is designed to walk around and look for food such as crawfish, worms, snakes, mice, eggs, etc. Obviously, this bird is not meant to be perched up in a tree somewhere; but rather it is seen walking around grasslands instead of flying. Its long legs give it a huge advantage for hunting; essentially, they help the bird be able to stand in shallow water and still be well above the surface of the water to search for prey. However, a Sandhill Cranes diet is only partially meat. In most cases they can be found eating plant material around a wetland, or even some crops from and agricultural field. Traditional trade theory explains the over concentration of services through variations in labour skills and other contributions to production (Heckscher 1919; Ohlin 1933), or in productivity (Ricardo 1917). These differences establish comparative advantages (Ricardo 1917) between cities, regions and countries. Thus, trade allows the concentration of services to grow and shrink in reaction to these advantages. In reality, cities, regions and countries may have different production arrangements but similar production technologies (Krugman 1991a). DBMS play a significant role in many things we interact with on the daily like the internet. DBMS can be on a small scale for individual use or on a larger scale for a company looking to keep track of all the data they collect. Each database is custom designed for the company, or organization that will use it. Records are kept in databases and each record is very unique in its own way having different fields for what it pertains to. Each record has something that makes it unique that the other records don t have. Text, number, dates, and amounts of money are all different computations for DBMS. All of this information is separated into fields and this is how Big Data is sorted and accessible and understandable. The data can be put in manually or sometimes it is computer assisted when it is more efficient. For example: a program may catch on if you are doing monthly reports and create a section for all 12 months after one is manually made. The use of Database Management Systems can date back to 1966. The program was made by IBM with the help of other companies for the Apollo Program. It was designed to keep track of the bill of materials for space crafts and other things involving the trip to space. This database used a hierarchical format which can be considered a tree like structure which is still used today. At the top of the

Sports has been a culture for generations within America and has shaped how we think and act in our daily lives. Strangers come together to watch and relate to one another which creates a bond. Even the athletes that train as opponents respect each other and acknowledge the efforts that each individual puts in to succeed. This culture creates hard working individuals, breaks down glass ceilings, and brings Americans together. Glory comes from the success of trials that each individual has gone through. Athletes who go against the world as representatives of America goes through those trials. Sports injuries cause about 2.6 million visits to the ER (Thiel). Pushing the limits of athletes can be cruel and can restrain their minds. They go through the pain of being brought down to become stronger than before. Difficulties include health risks like overtraining, malnutrition, drug abuse, and playing while injured (Thiel). They push away how they feel in that moment while they pursue their reason to become the best at what they do. Americans look up to these athletes that achieve their goals because people look to success. Admiration causes a positive chain reaction to be like the American athletes who win. • 34. Multi-objective Reconfiguration of Electrical Distribution... EDSs are mainly designed meshed but operated radially for some technical and financial concerns. Distribution networks can be represented with a graph in ordered pairs consisting of a set of vertices, i.e. buses and a set of edges, i.e. branches; in terms of mathematics this equivalents to a sparse matrix which its non zero elements signifies the existence of an edge in the system. On this basis a typical distribution network is radial if it forms a treewhere each load bus is exactly supplied from one source node, i.e. substation bus [11]. This suggests MOEDNRC problem as identifying the set of non dominated trees of the given graph. In this section we ve devised a heuristic technique based on this idea as well as the rules defined in [30] to retain the connectivity and radial properties of individuals during the optimization process. It s worth mentioning that these properties are broadly disturbed by EAs due to the stochastic nature of these algorithms unless a heuristic plan is devised to preserve the mentioned properties. As a result generation of infeasible agents in sheer numbers by EAs is quite a normal observation. The proposed technique is able to prevail over this shortcoming and would increase the performance of EAs as well. Before proceeding with the designed technique, some terminologies are first introduced to set the stage for the plan. Loop vectors (LVs) The term LV is used to identify branches contributing to forming loops in EDSs when all

Others may view it as disconcertingly chaotic. The flushed cheeks and beating heart of love could be magical and beautiful. Others see it as a destructive anxiety. In Mad Girl s LoveSong , Sylvia Plath uses villanelle form to convey how the speakers unfulfilled desire for happiness is driving her mad. In addition to containing contrasting images, they also use various figurative and musical devices to further emphasize their meanings. In Mad Girl s Love Song , the speaker describes her emotional state. When she opens her eyes to the absence of her lover, the stars go waltzing out in blue and red, and arbitrary blackness gallops in, I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. Although the speaker s life used to be filled with vivid colors and life, she is now unable to unshake the black depression. Where there once was various colors now is the empty void of black, arbitrary without any feeling. The personification of these colors demonstrate the lack of control she has over her emotional state because these colors can independently gallop and waltz in and out of her life. The emptiness that the depression brings causes her to escape her emotional state and shut [her] eyes so all the world drops dead . The repetition of the harsh d sound and all the world drops dead create an ominous tone, alluding to a more tragic end suicide. While the girl in Mad Girl s Love Song is trying to find positive emotions, the woman in Spinster shys away from emotions in general. Her isolation is connected with war as a barricade of barb and check against mutinous weather as no mere man could hope to break with any curse, fist, threat, or love . Post Negotiation Analysis Les Florets Essay Post negotiation Analysis of Les Florets Case This case particularly resonates with me because it highlights the problems that arise when two individuals have reference points which do not overlap. An impasse was reached between myself (VP of operations for Les Florets) and the Restaurant owner and this was primarily due to the fact that we both had reference points with a ceiling which we felt we could not exceed. Going into this negotiation as the VP of operations my goal was to primarily succeed in buying the restaurant. Prior to starting the negotiation, i identified several certain non monetary concessions that could be made to sweeten the deal such as paying a percentage of travel expenses, and also allowing the restaurant owner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I explained that one of the primary reasons why the restaurant seemed to be doing so well was because of the brand name of Les Florets and that we could just easily open another restaurant across the street if we wanted to but that we wanted a semblance of continuity for our customers . Although I expected this ploy to work it seemed to make things worse as the owner retorted that he had several offers on the table and could just easily sell the restaurant or any one and let that person worry about keeping the Les Florets name and maintaining its profitability and that won t be his problem. At this point I was in a dilemma , having resorted to strong arm tactics and failed miserably (primarily because the owner wanted to test my resolve) was there a way to get back into favor? There were several factors that culminated into the ultimate inability to reach an agreement. Firstly, was the differing priorities of both parties , while I was focused on reaching a deal and considered an impasse to be a failure , the other party was more focused on money and all the benefits offered paled in comparison as mentioned by the owner compared to the money foregone. Secondly, the owner seemed to want the property independently valued and then sell at this price. Knowing that the valuation was more than I could offer, I could not agree to this and this

With the coming of the Mexican Revolution in 1910, many mexicans fled north to the United States in order to escape the bloodshed in search of new lives. Sadly their dream for a better life did not come true. Migrant workers work for low wages in extreme conditions such as extreme heat, discomfort, and danger, as well as struggling to have a stable life for their families. The disastrous great depression left many people unemployed. As a result, a large number of caucasian people took over many migrant workers jobs in California. This left many Mexicans and Filipinos desperate and willing to do anything for money. Migrant workers lived a very harsh work environment as well as a harsh society interactions. Mexican farm workers were offered a legally binding work contract, but the majority suffered gross abuses of their labor rights and racial discrimination. Women themselves have been under attack for their entire lives. Women always have to be doing things correctly or men attack their very being. Men have expected women to be submissive to them from the beginning of time, as life has always been a patriarchy. Feminism has always been buried under the dirt but in the last 50 100 years, it has been exhumed from the grave. In this time women have been fighting for rights, especially through literature. As Amanda J. Davis explains in her essay about feminism, Authors deconstruct such concepts as home, safety, and shelter in their respective texts and reposition them in the context of social injustices born out of the volatile intersection of race, class, and gender oppression. (Davis) There have been many women authors who have helped define feminism, one of the most famous being Simone de Beauvoir. Beauvoir taught herself philosophy and then began her own teaching career and authorship. Her novel Second Sex quickly became a beacon of the feminist movement in the 1950 s. She writes about the causes and effects of the oppression shown to women all around the world, especially in the United States. It was in Bruges, where Rogier may have resided between 1432 and 1435, that he became thoroughly acquainted with van Eyck s style (http://humanitiesweb.org). The spiritual essence of a scene was displayed with similar technical virtuosity by Van der Weyden. His international renown was exceeded only by that of Hugo van der Goes, who united van Eyck s naturalism with penetrating studies of humanity(Eyewitness Books, Renaissance, 20.) The Crucible shows unjust decisions controlled by manipulated courts and envious girls. The court officials put 200 people through the misery of being accused of practicing acts associated with the devil, and they executed 20. The theme that comes to mind after these actions are brought up is inequity. Abigail accused many people in the town of Salemof actions that they did not do. She made the marriage of John and Elizabeth Proctorunstable by still trying to steal John from Elizabeth even though John was trying to regain the trust of his wife. Another theme that is present is that reputations can be altered easily. Going back to the Abigail and John incident, John s reputation was brought down when the court found out that he cheated on his wife. Another example of how reputations are judged in this play is when John didn t want his name posted on the church door. His name would have been frowned upon since it would have been on the list of people who practiced witchcraft, and he knew people would think less of him (62). Abigail also fed false accusations about well respected people in the town of Salem. Abigail had told the court that Elizabeth Proctor had been practicing the devil s work, and Elizabeth then got taken away even though she hadn t had done anything (37). Grease, considered by some to be A fantasy of the 50 s (Canby) and 50s nostalgia fun (Boyle), is in fact a direct parallel and excellent representation of America s turbulent graduation from the 50s to the 60s, from repression to freedom, from calmed to riotous. This hour and fifty minute roller coaster of a movie inspired by a rowdy, concupiscent, and altogether brilliant piece of Broadway theater rejects the stereotypes of the time for musicals and attempts a purer experience to reveal the underlying truths of American culture. Set during the 1958 9 school year, Grease is set at the same time as the preliminary examples of the Sexual Revolution. Allowed to be viewed through the lens of the heart of the Sexual Revolution in the 70s (the film was released in 1978), Grease therefore offered a vision of the past to the clumsy but clearly emerging sexual freedom brought about by Rock and Roll. DePamphilis (2010) notes that there are several theories and hypothesis linked to mergers and takeovers some of which include efficiency theory, agency theory, diversification hypothesis and market power hypothesis. This paper will analyze the efficiency and agency theories on the merger between the US AirwaysGroup and the AMR Corporations that led to the creation of American Airlines Group Inc. (AAL) because they offer an appropriate rationale for the merger based on the outcome. According to Risberg (2013), the efficiency theory argues that mergers are organizational strategies that are implemented to achieve three types of synergies, namely financial synergy, operational synergy and managerial synergy. Generally, the acquirer firm will have considered the target s capable assets and resources and presume that they can be beneficial to its own development. The synergy concept reinforces this idea when it comes to mergers. For instance, the synergy concept argues that mergers allow the combining of the efficient parts of the companies and the discarding of parts that are considered redundant. Johnson (2014) observes that synergy occurs in varying ways, for instance, when companies combine their different competitive advantages, potential tax benefit, or high manpower. Any factor that raises the market value of the merging firms is called a synergy. This means that the

Surprisingly, she chooses to completely neglect Antoine. She calls her husband, lies to him about her whereabouts so she can leave him with the full responsibilities of caring for Antoine. Her lack of good judgment sparks an argument between her and her husband. She clearly does not show him, nor Antoine any type of remorse for her behavior. However, she puts a deeper wedge between her, her husband and Antoine by claiming that she should have sent Antoine to boarding school so she could have a respite. There is no appreciation for Antoine s stepfather caring for Antoine on her behalf. It s no secret that Antoine s mother wanted to abort him, but her constant reminders of her disdain for him further drives him emotionally away. This was so damaging to Antoine that on the next day at school, he tells the school administration that his mother is dead. Antoine s mother is financially irresponsible. When Antoine asks her for lunch money, she sends him away to ask his stepfather instead. On another occasion, the morning Antoine s mother rushes him awake from sleep, his pajamas

Jones. It illustrates her study and examination of the effects of managing reported earnings to alleviate the costs of tariffs and quota increases on import businesses. The ITC or (United States International Trade Commission) conducts relief investigations on companies that import goods so they can make a determination on the import relief rate. The ITC sets the import relief after reviewing a plethora of factors. Some factors include the profitability of the industry and the trends in profitability. The import companies really don t lose much when the import relief goes up. The cost of importing goods to the United States and paying the import relief is most often cheaper than manufacturing goods in the United States. The ITC looks at a company s earnings before taxes. To circumvent the ITC the managers of import companies often use multiple accrual accounts. By playing somewhat of a shell game with the ITC the import companies are able to hide assets or shift them to the next quarter to show a lower profit margin. The author conducted a cross sectional investigation of the accrual accounts of import companies. Her investigation revealed that the import companies suddenly report lower earnings and income just before the investigation period. The obvious concern of the import industry is illustrated by the drastic counter measures put in place by the managers of import companies. The methodology of the ITC is effective at protecting domestic producers and the American economy but it puts import companies in a difficult situation. When presented by the moral dilemma of altering reported income import companies must make a decision which in the minds of many theorists is not a decision at all. Because businesses are driven by profits and managers are paid by the shareholders to protect the best interest of the company they are forced to

The Shepherd believes that time strengthens love because the more time he was to spend with the Nymph the more love they would have for one another, If these delights thy mind may move, Then live with me and be my love . He also thinks that time doesn t exist in nature by believing that when you see all the beauties in nature you will forget how much time is going by, By shallow rivers to whose falls Melodious birds sing madrigals . Although, the Nymph believes that time will eventually reveal the truth because she knows that everything he is offering is not gonna last forever, The rest complains of care to come . Also, she believes that time is limited because life is short and you can t enjoy it forever, Time drives the flocks from field to fold . They both have different viewpoints on time and what can happen in the time they have. The material world can be seen as the things that the Shepherd is trying to give to the Nymph to win her over, which she does not think the same way as him about these things. The Shepherd wants to use materialistic things to buy happiness like how he was going to make different things to give to his love, A gown made of the finest wool .
