The Causes Of Urbanization In Ethiopia
may even be reduced. As the population of an economy becomes wealthier, many prefer to live in
the cleaner and quieter environments of the countryside. Thus, employees need to commute into
cities for work, for which the necessary requirements, such as public transport or individual car
ownership, are only given in more developed countries. Cities in developing countries, on the other
hand, still continue to grow. Only the pace is two to five times faster than it was in the European
countries during the period of industrialization (Kojima, 1996). Many developing countries in the
world are currently experiencing an unprecedented rate of urbanization. It is also clear that, unlike
the experience of currently developed countries, the process of urbanization presently taking place
in developing countries is not so much due to rapid industrialization. Rather, it is the consequence
of growing population pressure on land in the rural areas (Kassahun, 2000). Urbanization has
largely taken place as a result of the push of rural inhabitants to urban areas (International Labour
Organization 1998). Like many developing countries, Ethiopia remains among one of the least
urbanized countries in the world. In Ethiopia, Informal settlement is socially, politically and
economically growing problems, usually referred to residential areas where a group of housing
units have been constructed on land to which the occupants have no legal claim or which they
occupy illegally. Using the Ethiopian

Was The Reconstruction A Success Or A Failure Essay
Discuss Whether Reconstruction Was a Success or a Failure. Reconstruction is the period of
rebuilding the south that succeeded the Civil War (1861 1865). This period of time is set by the
question now what? The Union won the war and most of the south was destroyed. Devastation,
buildings turned into crumbles and lost crops. The South was drowning in poverty. To worsen the
situation there were thousands of ex slaves that were set free by the Emancipation Proclamation
and the 13 Amendment. All these ex slaves , Dr. Susan Walens commented, and no place to put
them, The ex slaves weren t just homeless but they had no rights, unlike white man. The
government and congress had to solve the issues present in the south and the whole nation... Show

This was working alright until President Johnson, who had preceded Lincoln, order all the land
under federal control to be given back to whom they were taken from (Foner). This is a big
setback for reconstruction and freed slaves. The Freedmen Bureau was the federal institution in
control of those terrains given to blacks and now they had to take it back. Under the
administration of O. O. Howard the bureau functions were to establish schools, provide aide to
the poor and aged, settle disputes between whites and blacks and among freedpeople, and secure
for former slave and white Unionist equal treatment before court, (Foner 483). The Bureau did not
have enough agents to put in action the task appointed to it in the south. The Freedmen Bureau
was dissolved after five years living the black man on its own. Something that President Johnson
did to start the period of Reconstruction was to pardon all Confederates soldiers if they plead
loyalty and alliance to the Union. No one was held accountable for what happened, one man was
murder. Also he demanded that the states in the south abolish slavery and change their constitution
in order to be accepted into the United States. Those were Andrew Johnson terms for
Reconstructions. Not very efficient because it leaves all these defeated soldiers, filled with anger
and violence in the streets. Then Congress tried to pass the Civil Rights bill and the 14th
amendment which

##cietal Values In Society In Amy Poehler s Writing Is Hard
In today s society, people often tend to shift towards the societal norms and don t ever want to be
pushed out of their comfort zone. While many people write about the struggles with these
situations, two authors seem to do a great job at explaining it in their own lives. In Amy Poehler s
preface, Writing is Hard, and in Tina Feys excerpt Bossypants, they both describe what it s like to
live with the difficulties and demands of today s society with Poehler s being more from the
work side and Fey s being from the beauty side. While both write about overcoming society s
mindset and believing in yourself in the two perspectives they present, Fey seems to do a more
detailed and thought out job with the writing in Chapter three: All Girls Must Be Everything
that more people can relate to. Furthermore, the two comedians do a great job trying to appeal to
their specific audience; however, Tina Fey seems to find more strength in it than Poehler.
Poehler and Fey are both well known for their comedic work and acting abilities in the society
meaning they have the credibility to talk about such topics they discuss in their excerpts, but
Tina Fey appears to use her fame status more to her advantage. She writes about teaching girls
that they are all beautiful no matter what the standards are people tend to get from the media.
For example, in Fey s excerpt from her book, Bossypants, she tells her readers of her personal
story with experiencing body awareness for the first time. Fey states in her excerpt from chapter
three of Bossypants, One afternoon a girl walked by in a bikini and my cousin Janet scoffed,
Look at the hips on her. I panicked. What about the hips? Were they too big? Too small? What
were my hips? Fey later shares her story about her daughter noticing the standards for hair color
by saying, When I asked her why she didn t like Snow White, she told me, I don t like her hair.
Not even three years old, she knew that yellow hair is king (Bossypants). This proves to the
audience that not only is dealing with body image a problem now with the younger generation,
but, also, before Tina Fey even rose to fame. She is able to appeal to the readers emotions by using
her young daughter s story because

Persuasive Speech On Soda
Introduction
Have you ever feel like wanting to lose weight? There is one simple thing you can do in your life
that can help you lose weight. Besides losing weight, doing this one simple thing can avoid many
health disasters and will help your body to become healthier! What is this one simple thing, you
may ask? The answer is, to stop drinking soda.
Thesis Statement
Throwing soda away from your life will help to change your life and makes your body healthier
than when you are consuming them. In this paper, after we examine its harmful ingredients, and
the specific ways it can hurt your health, you ll see why you should stop consuming soda. Then, we
ll explore the healthier alternatives to soda that we can drink every day.
Main point #1: Ingredients in Average Soda Drink
Firstly, to understand the real issue with soda we must first look at the ingredients that are
contained in an average soda drink. Most average soda contains these few basic ingredients which
are carbonated water, natural flavor, caramel color, phosphoric acid and high fructose corn syrup.
The first few ingredients in an average soda are harmless. Carbonated water is plain water
infused with carbon dioxide, which creates the bubbles and the gassy feeling we get while
drinking soda. Natural flavors are often of the citrus variety and added for taste while caramel
color is a natural additive that gives the color of food products.
Besides, the next two ingredients are not so harmless. Phosphoric acid is a chemical that adds a
tangy or sour flavor by breaking down starches into sugar, and sugar is one thing we should
avoid. The reason for avoiding sugar is reported in the USDA s Dietary Guidelines (2010) for
Americans. Those who drink beverages with a lot of sugar tend to drink more calories than those
who don t drink sugar saturated drinks.
This then leads to the connection between consuming sugar filled drinks and weight gain. Starches
aren t the only source of sugar. Another ingredient in soda that we should be concerned about is
high fructose corn syrup. This specific ingredient is included because it is an alternative form of
sweetener that is cheaper than anything else. Besides, it is also one of the single worst ingredients
in the food

The Common Octopus-Stereotypes
The Common Octopus Upon hearing the word Octopus what initial thoughts arise? A deadly sea
creature hundreds of feet tall mounting its eight tentacles across an infatuating, yet intriguing ship,
and then ultimately crushing its sailors into the mile driven sea? Or, in many cases, one pictures a
bulging brain and eight tentacles mounting itself onto an innocent prey and indifferently, engulfing
until destruction. Yikes, how graphic! Suitably, thanks to modern technology, many of these
perceptions have been distorted by a conclusive, yet ambiguous hypothesis octopuses are deadly.
Inconclusively, the nature of the octopus Octopus vulgaris is an extremely inquisitive and mitigated
species. Animals such as these, as one would presume, are mollusks, an animal without a bone
structure, but with relation to the indigenous clam species. With use of such contortion, hiding
from one s predator, along with the ability to disguise from attack, through use of camouflage,

Having not one, but both sexes, the Octopus vulgaris does not enjoy the common attraction (or
courtship) exhibited by other species of its moieties. Known to be extremely reclusive, the two
mates, after fortunate fornication, will separate themselves males onward and the females in a
monastic cave to lay her eggs, giving birth to 100,000 500,000 at a given time. Kivengea, Ntiba,
Sigana and Muthumbi, share their discoveries, stating: These [eggs] are attached to the substratum
inside the den, either individually or in a clump, and she protects and cares for them until they
hatch (47 56). Afterwards, the eggs themselves drift upward and survive on the live plankton
drifting on the sea board. Those who survive the harsh conditions will then continue his/her
individual life cycle into adulthood, manifesting the common traits exhibited by the environment in

How Did Pancho Villa Change During The Mexican Revolution
Pancho Villa was a top military general of the Mexican Revolution. Pancho Villa was born
Doroteo Arange on June 5, 1878, in San Juan del Rio Durango. Villa spent much of his youth
helping around his parents farm. After his father s death when Villa was only 15 years old, he
became head of the household.
With his new role as protector of his new household, he shot a man who was harassing one of his
sisters in 1894. He fled, spending 6 years on the run in the mountains. While there, he joined a
group of fugitives and became a bandit.
Although the specifics of what occurred in Villa s life during this time are unknown, it s confirmed
that he changed his name while on the run to avoid getting caught by the authorities. In the late

conciliatory to the rebel group and concerned about the threat that civil war in Mexico was

Mexico City under the command of Victoriano Huerta. On February 18th, 1913, after the ninth

Japanese Government Vs Canadian Government Essay
From monarchy to communism, passing by dictatorship, each country has a government of its own.
In the world, there are about 200 countries in total, meaning that there are some similarities and
differences in their specific government. If one was to pick out two different countries and compare
its types of leadership, one might get a different result than other. Ever heard this quote by Tom
Robbins, Our similarities bring us to a common ground; our differences allow us to be fascinated by
each other? Well, nothing could be of more truth then that quote when comparing two different
countries. This essay is a comparison between the Canadian governmentand the Japanese

The facts were not at all clear to the Police Officers or the attorneys who will soon face this case.

The fact that it was a well known case from all the media outlets already put even more pressure

Sad but true fact The accused James Richardson had the well know William Kunstler, who was

In A P , the author John Updike utilizes symbolism, point of view, setting, and imagery to convey
the message of choices and consequences in Sammy s life. The protagonist, Sammy, makes
immature decisions that he believes that s what adults do. But what he thinks is an act of courage

someone judgmental towards other people. Such as his co workers, customers and even family.
He s constantly judging others, whether it be their looks or their way of being; She s one of
those cash register watchers, a witch about fifty with rouge on her cheekbones and no

there to bother him. In addition, Sammy also refers to one of his coworker s attitude towards
the girls. Sammy seems to be criticizing them; forgetting that he himself has been doing the
same thing to the girls since they walked in the store. All that was left for us to see was old

says he s starting to feel sorry for the girls. Not realizing he was making the same mistake as his

Effects Of Animal Testing
Stop Animals From Suffering Scientific experiments use many different methods to find their
outcome; many of those experiments use animals. Scientists mainly use rodents and monkeys. In
the clinical trials, scientists torture or injure animals to act like the human subjects. From there,
scientists give the subjects drugs to see the effects produced. Then, they predict how it will affect
humans. This outcome only benefits humans. It does not benefit animals, it only hurts them.
Showing that human experiments involving animals has inhumane effects because it leads to
wrongful animal suffering and other alternatives to testing exist. The government has placed few
laws in order to prevent inhumane experiments. These laws explain how to correctly treat animals.
For example, scientists need to treat the animals with respect and care. One article states When
animal use is necessary, it should be carried out humanely and with concern for the comfort, general
health, and well being of the animals by scientist and staff who are qualified and trained to do the
work successfully. These concerns have been codified in The Animal Welfare Act and Guide for the
Care and Use of Animals in the United States ( Using ). To summarize that statement, scientists and
staff involved in animal experimentation must do such work and humanely carry out the medicine
on their subjects. However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Source Of Ongoing Confusion
There are many fonts named Garamond and it s a source of ongoing confusion. What most
Garamond fonts have in common is that they are more or less accurate reconstruction either of a
type cut by Claude Garamond in the late 15th century, or of a type cut by Jean Jannon in the mid
16th century.
Claude Garamond was born in Paris, France 1490. He began his career through obtaining an
apprenticeship with a Parisian punch cutter and printer, Antoine Augereau, a protestant printer
and scholar whom is similar to Geoffroy Tory; which promoted the usage of human oriented
Europe s Roman s type instead of the Gothic black letters that popular among the French printers.
When he was around 20 years old. During the early phase of the 16th century Garamond found
that in order for the typography industry to function it needs the cooperation of various unique
and multi talented individuals, thus being able to create a well printed and bound book. The
printers of this era were able and talented individuals that were able to master, if not all, most of
the artistic or technical skills concerning the process of book production. This could range from
type design to the fundamental of bookbinding. Claude Garamond became one of the few to
specialize in punch cutting, type design, and type founding, which he display his skill in Paris to
several famous publishers. After his fame became more evident in Europe, Garamond was
commissioned by King Francois I of France to create a Greek typeface.

American Citizen Failure
Throughout the history of the world we as humans have constantly shown that we are a
destructive species. We always manage to destroy families, the environment, cities, and people s
livelihood as a whole. While forever more doing so in the name of world peace or democracy.
This is an outrage to all residents of the world who may or may not be caught in the crossfire and
furthermore readily shows our government has drastically failed us in its sole duty to protect the
people. Thomas Jefferson once said, The care of human life and happiness, and not their

We have tried doing so through diplomatic means, embargos, treaties, and alliances. Without a
constant mindset from congress and the President of the United States we cannot fully accomplish
this task because it takes persistence and undying resolve to complete this mission. Recently we
have reached a diplomatic treaty with Iran to prevent them from attaining anymore nuclear
technology. (White House, 2016) This is a superb example at what can be accomplished without
condemning young men, young women, and civilians to die in war.
Changing the mindset of our current Senate men and women will be almost impossible to do, so I
propose changing the education in our schools to put forth a new generation of young men and
women who understand all aspects of war and will choose diplomacy over armed conflict. While

In what ways did the Indian Removal act under President Jackson help establish a new
interpretation of democracy and a movement away from revolutionary era republicanism?
Andrew Jackson: The Era of the Common Man at the Expense of the Other
The essential question of the Jacksonian period in American history should not be focused on
slavery, nor on western migration of native tribes (as important, relevant, and controversial as these
topics are). It is true that his administration did try to hide and dismiss slavery, and it is also true
that in the manner of its execution the policy of Indian removal was a horror. However, the
fundamental question surrounding his presidency revolves around how the doctrines of democracy
replaced the doctrines of republicanism. Indeed, Jackson had a powerful contribution to American
political history. The Jacksonian Era actually changed the goal of the Founding Fathers to put more
power into the presidency rather than in congress. His commitment to the federal structure, states
rights, and a severely limited central government, all accounted for in his policy of Indian removal
are Jackson s greatest contributions and resulted in the development of modern democracy in the
United States.
The founding fathers envisioned and brought to life a system of checks and balances to prevent an
over concentrated power in a central government. They wanted to preserve and protect American

Compare And Contrast The Civilizations Of Western...
Cradles of Civilizations lie in the societies that were recognized for being the first of a certain
aspect to Western Civilization that made an impact. The four major ones are Mesopotamia, Egypt,
India, and China. Each of the four has similarities between them, despite being in different
locations. There is also the possibility of more of these civilizations existing besides the four main
ones. The general characteristics of a complex societies or civilization include military and religion.
The cradles of civilization fall perfectly into the definition of complex. Mesopotamiahad begun to

sign of settlement in Egyptwas located near the Nile Delta. First settlers were spotted by the Indus
River Valley for India. Chinabegan by the yellow river. Soon everyone that one first located
dispersed and grew to be a part of their culture and land at which they were promptly discovered.
In comparison, each of these civilizations first began by a river. From that river they began their

Postmodernism And Its Impact On The Western Of The...
The emergence of postmodernism in the wake of the manifold carnage and destruction left by
World War II (1939 1945), induced a fundamental shift in paradigms of historiography. This is
patently evident when assessing the multi faceted impacts of postmodern critiques on the critical
variant of the Sonderweg master narrative. An assessment of these impacts will be achieved
through a close analysis of three historical works, namely Hans Ulrich Wehler s seminal social
historyon Imperial Germany1871 1918 (1973), David Blackbourn and Geoff Eley s neo Marxist
The Peculiarities of German History (1984) and Konrad. H. Jarausch and Michael Geyer s Shattered
Past: Reconstructing German Histories (2002). Postmodernism s impact manifests in these three
works by revealing an inherent tension between the postmodern approach to history and the
differing interpretations of the Sonderwegmaster narrative. This results in a weakening of the
Sonderweg thesis validity as its contribution to the historiographical debate surrounding the rise of
National Socialism in Germany, is constrained by such critiques and tensions. However, the
Sonderweg thesis facilitation of retrospective discussion through amplification of meaning ,
emphasises a different facet of historical validity . What prevails from this analysis, is that the
Sonderweg thesis attempt to explain the rise of National Socialism in Germany; while problematic,
has generated prolific historiographical debate and in this respect,

Endodontic Pain
Endodontic pain in the context of oro facial pain. Endodontic pain is typically derived from
noxious insults to the pulp and peri radicular tissues and the inflammation which follows.
Nociceptors of the pulp and peri radicular tissues have their cell bodies located in the trigeminal
ganglia. When these primary afferent nociceptors experience membrane depolarization due to a
noxious stimulus, they send an action potential to the second order neurons whose cell bodies
reside in the medulla. The second order neuron then sends a signal to neurons in the higher centres
of the brain where processing of the signal results in perception of pain. This is a simplistic
explanation of how the mechanism of dental pain perception occurs. There are many... Show more

Hyperalgesia from peripheral inflammation may occur due to alterations to inhibitory mechanisms.
Chronic pain conditions (such as temporomandibular disorders) can result in a decrease in central
inhibitory control mechanisms, which results in an increased central excitatory state causing
hyperalgesia.
It is also possible that multiple primary afferent nerves that innervate different structures, such as
the teeth and muscles of mastication, may synapse with the same secondary afferent nerve, which
then transmits the signal to the neuron that causes perception of pain. This is called convergence
and may also result in referred pain perception from a site experiencing a noxious stimuli to a site

I also suspect that some of this information may have been contradictory to the authors main
arguments. To his credit however, Gracia does, however offer to distinguish between the sad and
the funny. We laugh, claims the author because we see in it the significance of the insignificant,
while we cry because through it we grasp the insignificance of the significant . Not a new concept
states Gracia, given that we are so often faced with both emotions on a regular basis. This simple
statement is the core of Gracia s argument. By stating this, he is necessarily saying that laughter
derives from a new perspective on ourselves. One that illuminates, idiosyncrasies, customs and
peculiarities which are given minimal attention during day to day activities, but which have great
significance. Comedy draws on these factors to identify the ordinary as extraordinary. Thus
Seinfeld lives up to its moniker a show about nothing . The show necessarily underscores that the
commonplace is indeed pertinent, this is reinforced by the audience being aware of the significance
of what is happening while the shows characters remain in the dark. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp;Conversley the author argues that sadness in respect to laughter is the opposite. That is, it
originates from the significant, and it is a degree of insignificance encapsulated within these
tragedies that elecits sadness.

William Shakespeare s The Taming Of The Shrew
William Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew is a controversial comedy that has more than 1
interpretation. The 2 prominent interpretations is that it a misogynistic play or that it is a love
story about a man liberating a woman. This play has been adapted into any movies the 2 that were
studied were The Taming of the Shrew, produced in 1967 and 10 Things I Hate About You , made
in 1999. Upon viewing these 2 movies I found that The Taming of the Shrew had a great deal of
misogyny throughout the plot. However, I found 10 Things I Hate About You was portrayed as a
love story and because of this I thought I was, until I thought about the fact that someone was paid
to take her out was a nasty thing to do. So as a result of this I... Show more content on

He then uses the technique for training birds of prey, to train her to obey him. Finally at Bianca
s wedding Kate gives a speech about being a good wife and obey their husbands. I found this
movie misogynistic, Katerina was wild and shrewish, however that is no valid reason to
physiologically abuse her. I took this as Shakespeare has created a character that tests society s
boundaries and challenges the people s beliefs, but she is then forced to marry and she is tamed
. In a way Shakespeare is sending a message that if a woman challenges society they will end up
the same as all of the other woman, obedient and a business deal. This may be ok in the
Elizabethan era but in today s society this is unacceptable it s basically domestic violence. For
this reason I believe Petruchio s behavior is horrible. He abused her for a game. In the end when
Katerina gives a speech to the crowd shows that she has succumb to the falconry .
10 Things I Hate About You is a modernised adaptation explores a teenage shrew life and the
modernised world of dating and trying to fit in . Kat, the independent 18 year old with an
attitude, refuses to follow the crowd . Bianca, her younger sister, however, is popular and wants to

their life will be ruined. As Kat is against dating, their dad decides

Essay About Covering Up On Your Health
To sleeve or not to sleeve
I am tired of telling you teenagers to cover up. All I see these days are you kids wearing
sleeveless dress and tank tops. I don t understand the reason why anyone would dress like that.
There are many benefits in wearing me compared to no half or no sleeved tops as I cover you
painful past, promotes self image and overall health. There is no better way to cover scars, tattoos
and bruises. Also the professionalism maturity portrayed with my presence is very valuable.
Furthermore, I provide many health benefits as I protect from the harmful sun s rays, mosquitoes
and the spread of illnesses when you sneeze into me.

To sum up, I hope you understand why it is so important to wear me since I have explained in
such detail to you all the benefits I have. Next time you decide to toss me, think about what
others might think of you as I provide a professional and respectable look and a sense of maturity
for you kids. When you were younger, you probably did a lot of dangerous activities like
tattooing or falling off your bike and getting a scar, I can help conceal those secrets for you
especially the time when you might have been abused which left a deep bruise. Your future
activities as teenagers will involve a lot of going outdoors and exposure to harmful sun radiation
and deadly mosquitoes. Also, I just want you to always remember what I taught you, sneeze into
your sleeve , it helps prevent you from getting sick and others around you as well.

August Wilson s Century Cycle Analysis
August Wilson has been called by many one of the best playwrights of all time. August Wilson s
Century Cycle was sometimes referred to as the Pittsburgh Cycle. The Century Cycle has been
acknowledged as one of August Wilson s greatest works. The Pittsburgh Cycle was his series of ten
plays that charts the African Americanexperience throughout the twentieth century. All of them
were set in Pittsburgh s Hill District except for Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, which was set in
Chicago (August Wilson). Each play was set in a different decade throughout the 20th century.
These plays showed the changing social and historical landscape of black America over 100 years
(10 Plays, 100 Years Playwright August Wilson Reveals the History of a Community (From the
Playbill)).
Wilson once said, I think the blues is the best literature that we as blacks have created since we ve
been here, and it s a lot of philosophical ideas. I call it our sacred book (Dyson). This genre of
music was created in the south of the United States by African Americans in the late 1800 s. The
blues give lyrical shape to the hurts and affections that stymie and transform black life. The blues
tap comedy to temper tragedy and to tame the absurd (Dyson). The blues music was popular among
slaves living in the deep south.
August Wilson stated around 20 years ago that he believes America doesn t need color blind
casting. I don t think his opposition to color blind casting is racist. I agree with his reasoning
behind his opinion to a certain extent. Wilson said that he opposes casting any blacks in roles
written for whites and that it detracts from the humanity of the actor. Likewise, I would be
opposed to casting whites in my plays (Shirley). However, I also agree with a statement made by
Ambush saying he appreciates the historical underpinnings of his assumptions and his arguments.
Nonetheless, Ambush believes that minority actors should be able to play roles designed for
whites as long as it is color conscious or culture conscious casting instead of colorblind. According
to this policy, directors can cast nontraditionally but should not pretend that an actor s race does not
matter (Shirley). I think casting based on race depends on the role

These problems have arisen due to the decentralized operational structure of the company. The IT
initiatives in this regards have been 1) ERP development and deployment and 2) Data warehousing
effort. But even with such initiative from SYSCO, management still had problems with monitoring
and comparing performance across the organization.
The lack of knowledge from employees has been a big setback to act as well as having the right
information for decision making. Although, SYSCO had made efforts for data warehousing, the
organization lack of expertise to extract this data from the data warehouse. Although Ms. Day had
Directors approval, user resistance is one big barrier to BI success. Other barriers include having
irrelevant data and poor data quality. Another issue was that each operating companies already
has their own BI application but now they are being force to share such data. As for personal
experience, if a company has worked for so many years in a decentralized process, users are
reluctant to share full information. This share attitude needs to be brought out as a main focus to
be able to acquire the data and to answer the main problems of the organization.
Information Quality
The value of Business Intelligence increases as the delivery of information is embedded in the
processes and systems of the enterprise which results from all data being store for end users. The

The Untimely Meditations Of 19th Century Germany
Contrarily to Lear, Nietzsche clearly underlines that the failure to become ourselves has not
simply to do with whether we live up to our ideals, but also with the fact that our ideals are bad
ones. Accordingly, these stand as obstacles to our way to achieve sagehood. Hence, in the first of
the Untimely Meditations Nietzsche does not criticize the cultural philistine of 19th century
Germany simply because he fail to be a man of culture . Indeed, the roots of Nietzsche s argument
lie in the fact that the cultural philistine s representation of life as a fully achieved man of culture
is wrong , insofar as it renders him unable to be in contact with all creative there is, and therefore is
cut off from the possbility of developing true culture.

In the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily BrontГ« there are multitudes of examples of

This is proven when Cathy openly victimizes and humiliates Edgar when he shows his fear of

Abuse Of Afghanistan Women Essay
Wood 1 Afghanistan is a war torn country that has been plagued by death, turmoil, and terror. Ever

like a useless piece of trash, women have experienced a drastic amount of inequality, pain, and fear.

Macbeth Blood Imagery Essay
HUGH, YOU ARE GUSHING BLOOD!!! Our heads spin around to see bright, red blood all
over his shoes, feet, and the boat. The sight of blood immediately made my stomach drop and
put everyone into an instant frenzy. Blood causes people to react because of the stir of emotion
it causes, and the same can be said for imagery. Authors of all types of literature use imagery as a
tool to engross their readers and make their senses come alive, specifically Shakespeare. In all of
Shakespeare s work a key instrument he uses is imagery; he uses it to make the reader feel
connected and that the work he/she is reading is three dimensional. In one of Shakespeare s plays,
Macbeth, he especially uses imagery. The word blood is used over 40 times and the... Show more

Before this scene, Macbeth sees gruesome visions of the murder he must commit before he has
even done it. The bloody business according to Macbeth, is what is making him see bloody
images. The description of his business as bloody makes one wonder about how he will choose to
kill Duncan, and it also makes the reader wonder if Macbeth is so guilty about killing Duncan
why could the murder not be done in a more humane way? Macbeth realizes before he kills
Duncan that there is no going back once he kills, but anyway he submits himself to the web of
evil. Right after the murder of Duncan, Macbeth has a breakdown when he fully processes what
he has done, Will all great Neptune s ocean wash this blood // Clean from my hand? No, this my
hand will rather // The multitudinous seas in incarnadine, // Making the green one red (39). In
this text Macbeth states that even if he washed his bloody hands in the ocean the blood would
never actually go away, and that the blood from his hands would actually turn the entire ocean
from green to red. This use of imagery involving blood pulls together a physical picture and also
an idea that entices the audience: even if Macbeth cleans his hands of blood his actions will
never truly go away. Macbeth even goes as far to say that he could turn an entire ocean red from
his bloody hands, which can allude to the magnitude of his guilt. This speech and use of imagery
can directly relate to the web of evil,

Nitric Acid was then added to the copper wire in order to make the copper wire dissolve. As
soon as the acid was added, the beaker turned an orange color and the solution became green
releasing gas into the air. This is defined as the dissolution of copper. This observation was
expected to occur and happened as well.

Then there was the precipitation of the cupric hydroxide. For this step Sodium Hydroxide and
water were added to the beaker with the solution until the precipitate settled down. When water

The observations that were observed were also expected.

The next step involved the conversion to cupric oxide. In order to do this the solution was heated

Differences in the Development of New England and the Chesapeake Region
Question: Although New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by people
of English origin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into two distinct societies. Why did this
difference in development occur?
By the 1700s the two regions, New England and Chesapeake varied greatly in spite of being from
the same mother country, England. Physical and cultural differences separated these two regions
distinctively. While religion moulded the daily life in New England, Money and tobacco farming
dominated the Chesapeake.

Religious uniformity was very important as they were intolerant of any other religion, and only
church members were part of the government at first. Citizens were required to attend Church
services as part of the law. Most of the people in New England had been merchants or small
farmers in England. In New England however, the rocky soil made it hard for a lot of farming, so
the Puritans turned to the coast. They built up major industries such as shipbuilding and fishing,
and established trade routes with England, and the Caribbean. The New Englanders were a very
pious and hardworking people, very different from their southern neighbours.
The Chesapeake region was the first region to be colonized. The first settlers had a very hard time
adapting to the moist swampy climate and lack of commerce and civility that they were used to
in England. Most of the early settlers were gentlemen sent by companies such as the Virginia and
London Companies. They were determined to find wealth in the North American wilderness, and
suffered greatly due to famine and diseases like malaria. Most of these unlucky settlers were men,
which was a drawback for the new colony of Virginia because there was very little reproduction.
Document C, a ships list of emigrants bound for Virginia shows the lack of families travelling to
Virginia, as well as the very few women, most of them single. The men fought over these

Summary On The Underground Railroad
Summary of The Underground Railroad Discussion: For the 45 minute Underground Railroad

questions. I then plan to designate about seven minutes for each person/team to think about
answers to the questions. Finally, each person/team should lead the group in the discussion of
their questions. The broad questions at the end of this document will be used during any extra
time following the group discussion of the questions. Guiding questions for index cards (in italics)

Cora desired something to separate herself from her work as a slave Ajarry s garden served this
purpose by allowing Cora to grow and enjoy the produce she grew in the garden. Why do you
think Cora tried to protect Chester from his beating from Terrance Randall after Chester spilled

this prompt her to accept Caesar s invitation to run away? Theme: in the most basic terms, family

Questions On Human Induced Climate Change
Assignment 1: Evaluation of sources: Potential solutions to human induced climate change
Module Number: 4SSG1008 Candidate Number: 1427121 Due Date: October 12th 2015 Word
Count: 1196 Climate change is a key debate not only in geography but in society as a whole; as
the population increases, the depletion of natural resources is increasing at a exponential rate.
All the energy that is consumed by our population of more than 7 billion endangers our planet to
the point where we are causing irreversible damage. All sources have there on way of providing
information which has its own disadvantages and advantages (table I.) and with this variety
some may deem to be more successful in addressing the issue. Peer reviewed journals are from
an academic level visibly the most reliable source of information. In all articles whether it be
Bosello, Carraro and Buchners article on international treaties, or Carlin s proposition on focusing
on other factors rather than cutting greenhouse gases, or even Epstein s article on how
governments much push to create more incentives, other academics who are highly referred to in
there field have reviewed these articles. As they review their peers articles they are imprinting
their name on it, and if a unreliable article if published they lose credibility which affects ones
reputation as an academic. Nonetheless, as these topics have a very specific approach in which it
communicates it may deem hard for people not educated

Commercial Truck Drivers Research Paper
Vehicles are an iconic, essential part of American culture. For goods to be shipped between states,
commercial truck drivers have to have vehicles that can carry massive amounts of products.
Unfortunately, these trucks are not held to the same standard as personal trucks. Weak federal
regulations and profit driven manufacturers put profits over safety for truckdrivers. As a result,
commercial vehicles do not have the same safety requirements as personal vehicles.
A large commercial truck can easily weigh 20 times as much as a passenger car. If a commercial
truck crashes into a small passenger car, the small vehicle will be completely crushed. This problem
is worsened by the fact that many drivers are tired and trying to beat the deadline.

For a number of the challenges associated with aging, consumers can find a helpful ally in the many

With respect to physical mobility in particular, the transportation is a key requirement to participate
in the life of the community and to access important goods and services. Transportation issues range
from being housebound due to lack of accessible transportation, to needing unavailable specialized

transportation. Indirectly, consumers with mobility limitations may, overall, have fewer
opportunities to get out and make independent consumer decisions.
3. Why do you think entrepreneurship in a nation decline as its population ages? How could this

costs for the young. Hence, population aging will eventually place severe strains on government
budgets for health care and pension plans, and with fewer workers to pay the taxes. * Health may

The Community Health Workers Of The United States Essay
In the United States there are over seven million uninsured children where Community Health
Workers (CHWs) have been successfully contributing to the increased number of childhood
insurance enrollments. CHWs incorporated training Parent Mentors (PMs) for soliciting other
parents who would in turn educate and raise awareness to issues such as the management of
asthma, provision of a supportive home environments for early learning and interventional services,
increased immunization rates, identification of food insecurities, poisoning knowledge and safe
farm working environments. Historically, Medicaid and the Children s Health InsurancePrograms
(CHIPs) have provided these services where the enrollees have had to overcome barriers to
challenging, hard to negotiate qualifications, inequities and enrollment processes. Whereby today,
in combination with PM training those deficiencies found in the Medicaid/CHIP system could be
effectively overcome. As qualified PMs reach out to the public it will be necessary to implement
adequate testing measures for performance, skill sets, adequate training, knowledge and
effectiveness. The evaluations of those contributions will directly relate to the overall healthcare of
children and what impact it will have on the overall healthcare system.

Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essay
Claudius as Evil in Hamlet by William Shakespeare
The abstract concept of evil has vastly transformed throughout human history, ranging for the
supernatural and mystical to the very humans amongst whom we live. In modern times, evil has
become an entirely ambiguous term. Who is evil? What is evil? Men like Adolph Hitler and Saddam
Hussein have been garnered with the term evil for their atrocities against fellow humans. Now it
seems evil has a solely human significance; when a person violates the individual rights of others
on a massive scale, he/she is evil. In Shakespeare s time the Elizabethan era evil had a similar, but
somewhat altered connotation in the human mind. Evil was an entity that violated the English

Claudius propensity towards fabrications is in direct violation with the Holy Commandment Thou
shalt not bear false witness; hence, he violates one of the pillars of Christian moral law.
Claudius lies are effective enough to persistently deceive to play s antagonist, Hamlet. Despite
Hamlet s disgust with Claudius for marrying Gertrude, and his view of Claudius as a king of shreds
and patches (III.iv.104), Hamlet suspicion of Claudius as a murderer is preliminarily nonexistent.
The appearance of a spirit claiming to be Hamlet s dead father first alerts Hamlet to the actions of
that incestuous, that adulterate beast, /With witchcraft of his with, with traitorous gifts (I.v.42 3).
And yet still, Hamlet remains hesitant to believe that Claudius was the murderer, searching for
complementary evidence. The play that Hamlet enacts designed to catch the conscience of the king
(II.ii.562) succeeds in revealing Claudius guilt, but does not provoke instant action on Hamlet s
part. So effective is Claudius manipulation of the royal circle that he manages to almost
permanently stay the revelation of his guilt, and if it weren t for supernatural intervention against
an injustice, he may never have been exposed.
The most odious of Claudius crimes is his lack of emotion over his

for dessert to come out. I am always stuck in the middle. I am too young to converse with the
adults but I am too old to run around with the kids. So I sat there taking everything in.
Eventually I became fed up with my isolation. I picked myself up and made my way over to
where my mom was seated. Even though I wasn t planning on socializing I would be content just
listening to conversation. I was tuned out for the most part, humming the tune of a pop song I
had heard on the radio. I would catch bits and pieces of what they were saying, but one hushed
statement caught my attention. I am really looking forward to surprising her. My mom said. I
don t know if she knew I was eavesdropping or not. To be honest I felt guilty for listening, but I
had nothing better to do,so I kept listening. She will love it! It s Right up her alley! I heard all

  • 2. The Causes Of Urbanization In Ethiopia may even be reduced. As the population of an economy becomes wealthier, many prefer to live in the cleaner and quieter environments of the countryside. Thus, employees need to commute into cities for work, for which the necessary requirements, such as public transport or individual car ownership, are only given in more developed countries. Cities in developing countries, on the other hand, still continue to grow. Only the pace is two to five times faster than it was in the European countries during the period of industrialization (Kojima, 1996). Many developing countries in the world are currently experiencing an unprecedented rate of urbanization. It is also clear that, unlike the experience of currently developed countries, the process of urbanization presently taking place in developing countries is not so much due to rapid industrialization. Rather, it is the consequence of growing population pressure on land in the rural areas (Kassahun, 2000). Urbanization has largely taken place as a result of the push of rural inhabitants to urban areas (International Labour Organization 1998). Like many developing countries, Ethiopia remains among one of the least urbanized countries in the world. In Ethiopia, Informal settlement is socially, politically and economically growing problems, usually referred to residential areas where a group of housing units have been constructed on land to which the occupants have no legal claim or which they occupy illegally. • 3. Was The Reconstruction A Success Or A Failure Essay Discuss Whether Reconstruction Was a Success or a Failure. Reconstruction is the period of rebuilding the south that succeeded the Civil War (1861 1865). This period of time is set by the question now what? The Union won the war and most of the south was destroyed. Devastation, buildings turned into crumbles and lost crops. The South was drowning in poverty. To worsen the situation there were thousands of ex slaves that were set free by the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13 Amendment. All these ex slaves , Dr. Susan Walens commented, and no place to put them, The ex slaves weren t just homeless but they had no rights, unlike white man. The government and congress had to solve the issues present in the south and the whole nation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was working alright until President Johnson, who had preceded Lincoln, order all the land under federal control to be given back to whom they were taken from (Foner). This is a big setback for reconstruction and freed slaves. The Freedmen Bureau was the federal institution in control of those terrains given to blacks and now they had to take it back. Under the administration of O. O. Howard the bureau functions were to establish schools, provide aide to the poor and aged, settle disputes between whites and blacks and among freedpeople, and secure for former slave and white Unionist equal treatment before court, (Foner 483). The Bureau did not have enough agents to put in action the task appointed to it in the south. The Freedmen Bureau was dissolved after five years living the black man on its own. Something that President Johnson did to start the period of Reconstruction was to pardon all Confederates soldiers if they plead loyalty and alliance to the Union. No one was held accountable for what happened, one man was murder. Also he demanded that the states in the south abolish slavery and change their constitution in order to be accepted into the United States. Those were Andrew Johnson terms for Reconstructions. Not very efficient because it leaves all these defeated soldiers, filled with anger and violence in the streets. Then Congress tried to pass the Civil Rights bill and the 14th amendment which ... • 4. ##cietal Values In Society In Amy Poehler s Writing Is Hard In today s society, people often tend to shift towards the societal norms and don t ever want to be pushed out of their comfort zone. While many people write about the struggles with these situations, two authors seem to do a great job at explaining it in their own lives. In Amy Poehler s preface, Writing is Hard, and in Tina Feys excerpt Bossypants, they both describe what it s like to live with the difficulties and demands of today s society with Poehler s being more from the work side and Fey s being from the beauty side. While both write about overcoming society s mindset and believing in yourself in the two perspectives they present, Fey seems to do a more detailed and thought out job with the writing in Chapter three: All Girls Must Be Everything that more people can relate to. Furthermore, the two comedians do a great job trying to appeal to their specific audience; however, Tina Fey seems to find more strength in it than Poehler. Poehler and Fey are both well known for their comedic work and acting abilities in the society meaning they have the credibility to talk about such topics they discuss in their excerpts, but Tina Fey appears to use her fame status more to her advantage. She writes about teaching girls that they are all beautiful no matter what the standards are people tend to get from the media. For example, in Fey s excerpt from her book, Bossypants, she tells her readers of her personal story with experiencing body awareness for the first time. Fey states in her excerpt from chapter three of Bossypants, One afternoon a girl walked by in a bikini and my cousin Janet scoffed, Look at the hips on her. I panicked. What about the hips? Were they too big? Too small? What were my hips? Fey later shares her story about her daughter noticing the standards for hair color by saying, When I asked her why she didn t like Snow White, she told me, I don t like her hair. Not even three years old, she knew that yellow hair is king (Bossypants). This proves to the audience that not only is dealing with body image a problem now with the younger generation, but, also, before Tina Fey even rose to fame. She is able to appeal to the readers emotions by using her young daughter s story because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Persuasive Speech On Soda Introduction Have you ever feel like wanting to lose weight? There is one simple thing you can do in your life that can help you lose weight. Besides losing weight, doing this one simple thing can avoid many health disasters and will help your body to become healthier! What is this one simple thing, you may ask? The answer is, to stop drinking soda. Thesis Statement Throwing soda away from your life will help to change your life and makes your body healthier than when you are consuming them. In this paper, after we examine its harmful ingredients, and the specific ways it can hurt your health, you ll see why you should stop consuming soda. Then, we ll explore the healthier alternatives to soda that we can drink every day. Main point #1: Ingredients in Average Soda Drink Firstly, to understand the real issue with soda we must first look at the ingredients that are contained in an average soda drink. Most average soda contains these few basic ingredients which are carbonated water, natural flavor, caramel color, phosphoric acid and high fructose corn syrup. The first few ingredients in an average soda are harmless. Carbonated water is plain water infused with carbon dioxide, which creates the bubbles and the gassy feeling we get while drinking soda. Natural flavors are often of the citrus variety and added for taste while caramel color is a natural additive that gives the color of food products. Besides, the next two ingredients are not so harmless. Phosphoric acid is a chemical that adds a tangy or sour flavor by breaking down starches into sugar, and sugar is one thing we should avoid. The reason for avoiding sugar is reported in the USDA s Dietary Guidelines (2010) for Americans. Those who drink beverages with a lot of sugar tend to drink more calories than those who don t drink sugar saturated drinks. This then leads to the connection between consuming sugar filled drinks and weight gain. Starches aren t the only source of sugar. Another ingredient in soda that we should be concerned about is high fructose corn syrup. This specific ingredient is included because it is an alternative form of sweetener that is cheaper than anything else. Besides, it is also one of the single worst ingredients in the food ... • 6. The Common Octopus-Stereotypes The Common Octopus Upon hearing the word Octopus what initial thoughts arise? A deadly sea creature hundreds of feet tall mounting its eight tentacles across an infatuating, yet intriguing ship, and then ultimately crushing its sailors into the mile driven sea? Or, in many cases, one pictures a bulging brain and eight tentacles mounting itself onto an innocent prey and indifferently, engulfing until destruction. Yikes, how graphic! Suitably, thanks to modern technology, many of these perceptions have been distorted by a conclusive, yet ambiguous hypothesis octopuses are deadly. Inconclusively, the nature of the octopus Octopus vulgaris is an extremely inquisitive and mitigated species. Animals such as these, as one would presume, are mollusks, an animal without a bone structure, but with relation to the indigenous clam species. Tension reached a peak when yet another faction of rebel force, led by Felix Diaz (the former dictator s nephew), clashed with federal troops in Mexico City under the command of Victoriano Huerta. On February 18th, 1913, after the ninth day of that melee (known as La Decena Tragica, or the ten tragic days ), Huerta and Diaz met in the office of U.S. Ambassador Henry Lane Wilson and signed the so called Pact of the Embassy, in which they agreed to conspire against Madero and to install Huerta as president. In the world, there are about 200 countries in total, meaning that there are some similarities and differences in their specific government. • 10. Consequences And Symbolism In John Updike s A P In A P , the author John Updike utilizes symbolism, point of view, setting, and imagery to convey the message of choices and consequences in Sammy s life. • 11. Effects Of Animal Testing Stop Animals From Suffering Scientific experiments use many different methods to find their outcome; many of those experiments use animals. Scientists mainly use rodents and monkeys. In the clinical trials, scientists torture or injure animals to act like the human subjects. From there, scientists give the subjects drugs to see the effects produced. Then, they predict how it will affect humans. This outcome only benefits humans. It does not benefit animals, it only hurts them. Showing that human experiments involving animals has inhumane effects because it leads to wrongful animal suffering and other alternatives to testing exist. The government has placed few laws in order to prevent inhumane experiments. These laws explain how to correctly treat animals. For example, scientists need to treat the animals with respect and care. One article states When animal use is necessary, it should be carried out humanely and with concern for the comfort, general health, and well being of the animals by scientist and staff who are qualified and trained to do the work successfully. These concerns have been codified in The Animal Welfare Act and Guide for the Care and Use of Animals in the United States ( Using ). To summarize that statement, scientists and staff involved in animal experimentation must do such work and humanely carry out the medicine on their subjects. However,... • 12. A Source Of Ongoing Confusion There are many fonts named Garamond and it s a source of ongoing confusion. What most Garamond fonts have in common is that they are more or less accurate reconstruction either of a type cut by Claude Garamond in the late 15th century, or of a type cut by Jean Jannon in the mid 16th century. Claude Garamond was born in Paris, France 1490. He began his career through obtaining an apprenticeship with a Parisian punch cutter and printer, Antoine Augereau, a protestant printer and scholar whom is similar to Geoffroy Tory; which promoted the usage of human oriented Europe s Roman s type instead of the Gothic black letters that popular among the French printers. When he was around 20 years old. During the early phase of the 16th century Garamond found that in order for the typography industry to function it needs the cooperation of various unique and multi talented individuals, thus being able to create a well printed and bound book. The printers of this era were able and talented individuals that were able to master, if not all, most of the artistic or technical skills concerning the process of book production. This could range from type design to the fundamental of bookbinding. Claude Garamond became one of the few to specialize in punch cutting, type design, and type founding, which he display his skill in Paris to several famous publishers. After his fame became more evident in Europe, Garamond was commissioned by King Francois I of France to create a Greek typeface. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jake Vertin TA: Andrew Dial HIST 211 Fall 2014 In what ways did the Indian Removal act under President Jackson help establish a new interpretation of democracy and a movement away from revolutionary era republicanism? Andrew Jackson: The Era of the Common Man at the Expense of the Other The essential question of the Jacksonian period in American history should not be focused on slavery, nor on western migration of native tribes (as important, relevant, and controversial as these topics are). It is true that his administration did try to hide and dismiss slavery, and it is also true that in the manner of its execution the policy of Indian removal was a horror. However, the fundamental question surrounding his presidency revolves around how the doctrines of democracy replaced the doctrines of republicanism. Indeed, Jackson had a powerful contribution to American political history. The Jacksonian Era actually changed the goal of the Founding Fathers to put more power into the presidency rather than in congress. His commitment to the federal structure, states rights, and a severely limited central government, all accounted for in his policy of Indian removal are Jackson s greatest contributions and resulted in the development of modern democracy in the United States. • 18. Postmodernism And Its Impact On The Western Of The... The emergence of postmodernism in the wake of the manifold carnage and destruction left by World War II (1939 1945), induced a fundamental shift in paradigms of historiography. This is patently evident when assessing the multi faceted impacts of postmodern critiques on the critical variant of the Sonderweg master narrative. An assessment of these impacts will be achieved through a close analysis of three historical works, namely Hans Ulrich Wehler s seminal social historyon Imperial Germany1871 1918 (1973), David Blackbourn and Geoff Eley s neo Marxist The Peculiarities of German History (1984) and Konrad. H. Jarausch and Michael Geyer s Shattered Past: Reconstructing German Histories (2002). Postmodernism s impact manifests in these three works by revealing an inherent tension between the postmodern approach to history and the differing interpretations of the Sonderwegmaster narrative. This results in a weakening of the Sonderweg thesis validity as its contribution to the historiographical debate surrounding the rise of National Socialism in Germany, is constrained by such critiques and tensions. However, the Sonderweg thesis facilitation of retrospective discussion through amplification of meaning , emphasises a different facet of historical validity . What prevails from this analysis, is that the Sonderweg thesis attempt to explain the rise of National Socialism in Germany; while problematic, has generated prolific historiographical debate and in this respect, ... Endodontic pain is typically derived from noxious insults to the pulp and peri radicular tissues and the inflammation which follows. Nociceptors of the pulp and peri radicular tissues have their cell bodies located in the trigeminal ganglia. When these primary afferent nociceptors experience membrane depolarization due to a noxious stimulus, they send an action potential to the second order neurons whose cell bodies reside in the medulla. The second order neuron then sends a signal to neurons in the higher centres of the brain where processing of the signal results in perception of pain. This is a simplistic explanation of how the mechanism of dental pain perception occurs. There are many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hyperalgesia from peripheral inflammation may occur due to alterations to inhibitory mechanisms. Chronic pain conditions (such as temporomandibular disorders) can result in a decrease in central inhibitory control mechanisms, which results in an increased central excitatory state causing hyperalgesia. It is also possible that multiple primary afferent nerves that innervate different structures, such as the teeth and muscles of mastication, may synapse with the same secondary afferent nerve, which then transmits the signal to the neuron that causes perception of pain. This is called convergence and may also result in referred pain perception from a site experiencing a noxious stimuli to a site that is not. The prudent dentist must be aware of the mechanisms and clinical symptoms of referred pain, peripheral sensitization, central sensitization, and convergence. The Secret of Seinfeld’s Humor Essay Review: The secret of Seinfeld s Humor: The significance of the Insignificant The Secret of Seinfeld s Humor: The significance of the Insignificant, an article written by Jorge Gracia briefly outlines what the author believes to be the origin of the humour with which the popular television show Seinfeld achieved such broad based success. A show that embraced the ordinary of everyday life, while atypically avoiding the mainstay of violence and sex of most of today s popular visual media and culture. I also suspect that some of this information may have been contradictory to the authors main arguments. To his credit however, Gracia does, however offer to distinguish between the sad and the funny. We laugh, claims the author because we see in it the significance of the insignificant, while we cry because through it we grasp the insignificance of the significant . Not a new concept states Gracia, given that we are so often faced with both emotions on a regular basis. This simple statement is the core of Gracia s argument. By stating this, he is necessarily saying that laughter derives from a new perspective on ourselves. One that illuminates, idiosyncrasies, customs and peculiarities which are given minimal attention during day to day activities, but which have great significance. Comedy draws on these factors to identify the ordinary as extraordinary. Thus Seinfeld lives up to its moniker a show about nothing . The show necessarily underscores that the commonplace is indeed pertinent, this is reinforced by the audience being aware of the significance of what is happening while the shows characters remain in the dark. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Conversley the author argues that sadness in respect to laughter is the opposite. That is, it originates from the significant, and it is a degree of insignificance encapsulated within these tragedies that elecits sadness. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I found this movie misogynistic, Katerina was wild and shrewish, however that is no valid reason to physiologically abuse her. I took this as Shakespeare has created a character that tests society s boundaries and challenges the people s beliefs, but she is then forced to marry and she is tamed . In a way Shakespeare is sending a message that if a woman challenges society they will end up the same as all of the other woman, obedient and a business deal. August Wilson s Century Cycle was sometimes referred to as the Pittsburgh Cycle. The Century Cycle has been acknowledged as one of August Wilson s greatest works. The Pittsburgh Cycle was his series of ten plays that charts the African Americanexperience throughout the twentieth century. All of them were set in Pittsburgh s Hill District except for Ma Rainey s Black Bottom, which was set in Chicago (August Wilson). Each play was set in a different decade throughout the 20th century. These plays showed the changing social and historical landscape of black America over 100 years (10 Plays, 100 Years Playwright August Wilson Reveals the History of a Community (From the Playbill)). Wilson once said, I think the blues is the best literature that we as blacks have created since we ve been here, and it s a lot of philosophical ideas. I call it our sacred book (Dyson). This genre of music was created in the south of the United States by African Americans in the late 1800 s. The blues give lyrical shape to the hurts and affections that stymie and transform black life. The blues tap comedy to temper tragedy and to tame the absurd (Dyson). The blues music was popular among slaves living in the deep south. August Wilson stated around 20 years ago that he believes America doesn t need color blind casting. I don t think his opposition to color blind casting is racist. I agree with his reasoning behind his opinion to a certain extent. Wilson said that he opposes casting any blacks in roles written for whites and that it detracts from the humanity of the actor. Likewise, I would be opposed to casting whites in my plays (Shirley). However, I also agree with a statement made by Ambush saying he appreciates the historical underpinnings of his assumptions and his arguments. Nonetheless, Ambush believes that minority actors should be able to play roles designed for whites as long as it is color conscious or culture conscious casting instead of colorblind. According to this policy, directors can cast nontraditionally but should not pretend that an actor s race does not matter (Shirley). I think casting based on race depends on the role ... The Untimely Meditations Of 19th Century Germany Contrarily to Lear, Nietzsche clearly underlines that the failure to become ourselves has not simply to do with whether we live up to our ideals, but also with the fact that our ideals are bad ones. Accordingly, these stand as obstacles to our way to achieve sagehood. Hence, in the first of the Untimely Meditations Nietzsche does not criticize the cultural philistine of 19th century Germany simply because he fail to be a man of culture . Indeed, the roots of Nietzsche s argument lie in the fact that the cultural philistine s representation of life as a fully achieved man of culture is wrong , insofar as it renders him unable to be in contact with all creative there is, and therefore is cut off from the possbility of developing true culture. ... The sight of blood immediately made my stomach drop and put everyone into an instant frenzy. Blood causes people to react because of the stir of emotion it causes, and the same can be said for imagery. Authors of all types of literature use imagery as a tool to engross their readers and make their senses come alive, specifically Shakespeare. In all of Shakespeare s work a key instrument he uses is imagery; he uses it to make the reader feel connected and that the work he/she is reading is three dimensional. Before this scene, Macbeth sees gruesome visions of the murder he must commit before he has even done it. The bloody business according to Macbeth, is what is making him see bloody images. The description of his business as bloody makes one wonder about how he will choose to kill Duncan, and it also makes the reader wonder if Macbeth is so guilty about killing Duncan why could the murder not be done in a more humane way? Macbeth realizes before he kills Duncan that there is no going back once he kills, but anyway he submits himself to the web of evil. Right after the murder of Duncan, Macbeth has a breakdown when he fully processes what he has done, Will all great Neptune s ocean wash this blood // Clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather // The multitudinous seas in incarnadine, // Making the green one red (39). In this text Macbeth states that even if he washed his bloody hands in the ocean the blood would never actually go away, and that the blood from his hands would actually turn the entire ocean from green to red. This use of imagery involving blood pulls together a physical picture and also an idea that entices the audience: even if Macbeth cleans his hands of blood his actions will never truly go away. Macbeth even goes as far to say that he could turn an entire ocean red from his bloody hands, which can allude to the magnitude of his guilt.
