The Problems And Challenges Of Performance Management
Part 3 Empirical chapter
Discussion of the Problems and Challenges of performance management
Performance management mostly is not successful as expected in the public sector. According to
Her Majesty s Inspectorate of Constabulary for Scotland (2005) a thematic inspection of
performance management noted that though performance management was substantially developed
, a long way is still needed to go before everyone was responsible for providing a good service and
many areas of performance management in the early stages of implementation existed as well .
There are many implementation reasons causing these problems, for instance, the reduction of
government spending (Gianakis, 2002), or purely a tool for management rather than a tool for ...

Technical problems refers to the indicators and the data, information collection, interpretation
and analysis. They are preponderantly difficult problems (Pollanen, 2005; Adcroft and Willis,
2005) and especially in terms of data quality (Black et al., 2001), the choice of indicators (Black
et al., 2001; Bevan and Hood, 2006; Carvalho et al., 2006), validation (Evans, 2004; Carlin,
2004), reporting (Pollanen, 2005; Adcroft and Willis, 2005) and usage and interpretation (Neely
et al., 1995; Wilcox and Bourne, 2003). Nevertheless, organisations are focusing on improving
the technical problems of their indicators (Pollitt, 2005). Secondly, systems problems are related
to the bigger picture issues, i.e. integrating performance systems into the original systems
(Gianakis, 2002), a lack of strategic view which encourages short term thinking (Neely et al.,
1995), the ambiguity of performance objectives (Pollanen, 2005), sub optimisation (Neely et al.,
1995; Pollitt, 2000; Gianakis, 2002; Adcroft and Willis, 2005) and the cost of performance
management (Train and Williams, 2000; Holzer and Yang, 2004; Pollanen, 2005). The third kind
of problem are the significant people issues and their involvement inside the PM system among
inter multiple stakeholders (Black et al., 2001; Wang and Berman, 2001; Gianakis, 2002;
McAdam et al., 2005). These issues can be caused by a

The Importance Of Oppression In America
Indigenous people had their tribes and land taken away by the colonized that came from Europe.
This includes Native Americans, Hispanic land and African lands becoming invaded and
oppressed. Oppression refers to the exercise of power to keep others in a state of subjection and
to treat them unjustly by denying what is due them as their right by virtue of their humanity.
(Nader Saiedi) People have faced oppression for hundreds of years for countless different
reasons. When we hear the horrid stories explaining why people were dehumanized we may
think that these reasons are illogical or unjustifiable. Yet back in time they were reasonable. If
you were poor, colored, A woman or had different religious beliefs there was a reason to attack
that specific group and deny them the basic rights. Now as a developed nation we have rioted,
protested and died for equality. In Heckler s Inaugural Address he speaks about equality and
Valparaiso University as one. We all deserve the same rights as a black person, white person,
homosexual or heterosexual. It does not matter where we come from or what we believe in
because we are all entitled to the same legal and social powers. Education equality is one of the
most important kind of right. Education is the only ticket out of minimum wagejobs, poverty and
oppression. Education is powerful because it gives us credibility, knowledge and equality. As
Nelson Mandela once said: Education is the great engine of personal development. It is

Giselle Ballet Essay
First announced as a two act performance on June 28th, 1841, Giselle is a famous ballet about a
young peasant girl who falls in love with a noble man, but dies upon hearing that he is betrothed
to another woman. During this early period of history, women were looked down on by men and
viewed as being extremely emotional. Despite this background, some people still conclude that the
depiction of women is not precise enough in this ballet. To me, however, it is very clear; I believe
that Giselle characterized women as being weak.
In the opening scenes Giselle is seen joyously dancing and being pursued by her lover Albrecht.
She dances with him for an extended period of time which seems to make her a little faint; at

This scene has even been named the mad scene due to her shocking response and delirious
pointing. In my opinion, if she were a strong woman, she would have realized that he wronged her
and would have not gotten so upset or thrown herself into a chaos that ended up costing her life.
She also wouldn t have had such low self esteem to say in scene 8, I should die if he does not love
me anymore (42) as if there is nothing more worth living for than a man. The idea of madness at
the time was always connected with women. Women were thought to experience overpowering
emotions due to hormones and this idea was vividly illustrated by Giselle in the mad scene . Once
again, since Giselle was the main female character, this also showed women as being feeble and
less than.
Finally, I noticed that it seemed like most of the women in the ballet could not let go of
something which I believe also portrayed women as weak. In Act 2, at 1:27:55 in the ballet,
Giselle places herself in front of Albrecht to save him from the evil revenge of the Wilis. She
continues to dance in his place and protect him even though he very obviously did her wrong; he
led her on in the first act. Giselle can t even let go of a man who practically cheated on her. On
the other side, the Wilis will not let go of their past experiences with men and their need to get
revenge on men in general. Some may argue that the Wilis seem strong in the sense that they have
the power to possess any man and make him

Napa Valley History
Napa Valley is a region of California (United States), known for its wine production. Napa s name
derives from Wappo which is the name of the indigenous Indians who inhabited the region. The
valley is located in Napa County. Its length is 48 kilometres long, concentrates more than 300 wine
producers and represents, somehow, the new industry, not only because it produces excellent
quality wines, but because it has managed its merger with gastronomy and tourism. Each year about
8 million people visit Napa Valley, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in California
(Gmelch et al., 2011).
According to Paul Wagner , Janeen Olsen and Liz Thach (2010), despite the economic difficulties
worldwide, this market continues growing thanks to the increased demand from a new generation
of consumers who are keen on wine, the Millennial Generation. They are people of both sexes,
aged between 20 and 32 years, representing over 70 million of the US population. Paul Wagner
points out: They are young, have no fear and they were born with a computer under his arm and an
MP3 in the pocket consequently they do not accept established traditions about wine, they are
adventurous and wine is not just a drink, but a ticket to travel to other places, to other countries . ...

Stereotypes In The Cosby Show
When television shows were first aired, the majority of the main characters were white, if you
saw someone of color they were most likely playing the role of a servant. According to pbs.org,
in 1983 there was a shift in television when NBC aired an all Black cast sitcom, The Cosby
Show. The Cosby Show was the first show that did not promote negative racial slurs within the
media. Sitcoms are affecting American culture negatively by promoting detrimental stereotypes.

Nakagawa says people who speak about race the most are those who don t have authority or
accurate knowledge. When we talk about different races we usually talk about what we have
heard, not what we actually know. Kathryn Sorrels, the author of the book, Intercultural
Communication: Globalization and Social Justice said, Often the assumptions, stereotypes, and
attitudes we hold about people from different cultures or distant countries come solely or
primarily through media and popular forms such as movies, TV programs, and celebrities
(Sorrels 125). Sorrels then gets her audience to think about if it is the producers fault or the actors
fault for taking the role. Sorrels later talks about the 3 areas to look at when studying popular
culture. Only 2 and 3 are very important, (2) textual analysis, where the actual product or text the
TV program or film ... is analyzed for symbolic meaning and narrative content; and (3) audience
analysis, where the means and interpretations that viewers/reader/listeners decode from popular
from popular culture text are investigated. The information is something to consider when viewing
a sitcom, how does the audience know if the information is accurate. Most viewers just believe
most of what they see on

The Role Of Technology In The Private Eye
The Private Eye explores society s views on technology by contradicting what the reader may
expect with its portrayal of a society that is strongly opposed to, and fears, current world views
and attitudes towards technology. Fear drove the people of The Private Eye in a whole new
direction technologically with it s use of masks and other appearance changing devices and, while
it would be easy to say this is true because it s practical in their world, there s more to it in a way
that mirrors today s thoughts on technologyand its potentials. The people of the story gravitate
towards what they know and, while accepting some new technologies like futuristic masks, reject
anything that breaks the rules of what they think is human.
Real people generally enjoy the ideas of sci fi esque technology at least in theory, however,
many are concerned about the real life implication of such inventions due to their perception of
what is considered crossing the line when it comes to what technology should be allowed to do.
Technology may make life more convenient, but when it goes to what people deem as too far or
beyond human, that being inventions that seem to go beyond nature, privacy, in the case of The
Private Eye, does technology become a problem. Time and place are also crucial to whether or
not people will be willing to accept such ideas as demonstrated in the story, but what goes against
ideas of nature tends to be the strongest and most important reason as to why people may

Evolution of the Philippine Flag
EVOLUTION OF THE PHILIPPINE FLAG
The Katipunan (1892 1897) | The First KKK (Kataastaasan at Kagalanggalang Katipunan ng
Mga Anak ng Bayan The Highest and Most Honorable Society of the Sons of the Nation) Flag
(1892) With the establishment of the Katipunan, Andres Bonifacio requested his wife, Gregoria
de Jesus, and with the help of Benita Rodriguez to create a flag for the society. De Jesus created
a simple red flag bearing the society s acronym, KKK, in white and arranged horizontally at the
center of a rectangular piece of red cloth (locally called kundiman ). The color red represents the
blood and courage of the Katipuneros who stood ready to fight for freedom and shed their blood if
need be. This was the flag which was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let us fight to the finish, was one of his favorite remarks. Owing more to Freemasonry than to
traditional Katipunero imagery. This flag looked like the pirates banner in the Caribbean. It is said
that Andres Bonifacio made fun of this flag, calling it Bungo ni Llanera or Llanera s skull.|
| The Aguinaldo Magdalo Flag (August 30, 1896). When the revolution heated up, the Magdiwang
group of the Katipunan, which operated in Cavite under Gen. Santiago Alvarez, adopted a flag
consisting of a red flag with the character at the centre of the flag is a K in an ancient Filipino
alphabet or alibata script in white placed at the center of a sun with eight pointed rays, again
representing the Katipunan and the eight revolutionary provinces in Luzon that pledged its support
to fight under Aguinaldo s banner and to start the Philippine revolution. This was the flag adopted
by General Emilio Aguinaldo for his Magdalo group at Kawit, Cavite on August 30, 1896.
General Aguinaldo referred to this flag in his proclamation of October 31, 1896: Filipino
people!! The hour has arrived to shed blood for the conquest of our liberty. Assemble and follow
the flag of the Revolution it stands for Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. Due to the popularity of
General Aguinaldo, it was used by the revolutionary forces until December 30, 1897 when it was
hauled down from the flagstaff at Biak na Bato, signifying the end of warfare with Spain after the
peace agreement. This

Tabula rasa. A phrase originating from Latin that is translated to clean slate. John Locke, a
philosopher, coined this term to coincide with his theory that each human is born without any pre
existing traits or views of the world. To those who share Locke s conception, one could understand
how easily Tobias Wolffconformed to the negative impacts he had grown up with. He is the
equivalent of an unwritten book with the potential for success and academic achievement but
tainted with abandonment and neglect. The antagonists Roy, Dwight, and even his own motherare
the sources of false powerand manhood he obtained which has an influence on his actions. Even

someone to care and love for them, they are still frustrated that they will be missing crucial
relationship developments which were seen in I understood, but understanding not make me miss

Another reason that leads to his actions, which is also the reason he wanted to strip the
importance of his receival of the name Tobias and call himself Jack instead, is his father who
blatantly abandoned him and his mother for a luxurious life. Wolff s father, in summary, was a
man who married a millionaire and moved to Paris with Jack s older brother, Geoffrey, because
he had a promising future. As wealthy as he was, the cowardly man refuses to pay his legal
pittance. Jack witnesses the effects of the lack of financial support on his mother. This anger
leads him to confidently say We were barely making it, and making it in spite of him. My
shedding the name he d given me would put him in mind of that fact. (9) The relieved diction seen
with the term shedding can only allow readers to infer that removing his assigned name was a way
to disassociate his burden of a father to him and his mom.

Gender Deviance In Sweetheart Of The Song Tra Bong
Does deviating from one s gender norms inevitably doom one down a spiral of moral
corruption? Tim O Brien, author of Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong and Ernest Hemingway,
author of The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber , certainly seem to hold this view, as
evident by the fates of the major female characters in their respective works. The deviance of the
major female characters in both works appears to corrupt not only themselves, but also pollute
their partners, causing them to suffer injury or harm as a result. The degree of injury ranges from
negligible, like Fossie s demotion and broken heart, to fatal, like the bullet that rips through
Macomber s skull. It begs the question, are these stories meant to serve as cautionary tales for their
female readers, or possibly for their husbands, so they may recognize genderdeviance and stop it in
its tracks before their wives transform into Margot Macomber or Mary Anne Bell? This essay will
analyze what such characters say about pervading views of women, both in society and in literature.
At the end of Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong , Mark Fossie gazes upon his previously demure
and sweet girlfriend as a demon, surrounded by carnage, a necklace of shriveled human tongues
around her neck as she stands barefoot in the hootch of the Green Berets. The male reader is
meant to resonate with Mark s horror and be terrified of Mary Anne s feral transformation. The
pure, sweet, socially conforming to be wife has been corrupted by

Pica And Rumination Research Paper
What exactly are pica and rumination disorder? Pica is the act of eating items that are non
nutritive, in other words they have little to no nutritional value to the human body. Things that
could be eaten include glass, couch cushions, chalk, glue, just about anything that normally would
not be considered to be taken into the body. This can happen because of trying to avoid high
calorie items foods and the desire for weight loss. Rumination disorder is when someone(typically
children) have swallowed food and spit it back up and begin chewing it again. This behavior does
not happen because of medical reasons either.
In the study, they used 149 females that had eating disorders and 100 men and women that were
considered obese. There were few reports of eating non edible objects. Barely anyone at from
either group met the criteria for pica. 7.4% of the people experienced rumination. The prevalence is
still unknown. The females with eating disorders had 93.8% of the patients had the same
diagnosis. The males and females from the other place had 95% of the patients had the same
diagnosis. These numbers are not far apart which could mean they are pretty closely related and
accurate, but this is not enough evidence to make the prevalence known. ... Show more content on

* What makes social network sites unique is not that they allow individuals to meet strangers,
but rather that they enable users to articulate and make visible their social networks. This can
result in connections between individuals that would not otherwise be made, but that is often
not the goal, and these meetings are frequently between latent ties (Haythornthwaite, 2005) who
share some offline connection. On many of the large SNSs, participants are not necessarily
networking or looking to meet new people; instead, they are primarily communicating with
people who are already a part of their extended social network. To emphasize this articulated
social network as a critical organizing feature of these sites, we label them social network sites.
* While SNSs have implemented a wide variety of technical features, their backbone consists of
visible profiles that display an articulated list of Friends1 who are also users of the system.
Profiles are unique pages where one can type oneself into being (SundГ©n, 2003, p. 3). After
joining an SNS, an individual is asked to fill out forms containing a series of questions. The profile
is generated using the answers to these questions, which typically include descriptors such as age,
location, interests, and an about me section. Most sites also encourage users to upload a profile
photo. Some sites

Grit Is Never Giving Up By Angela Lee Duckworth

Duckworth said, Grit is sticking with your future, day in and day out, not just for the week, not

Analysis Of Walcheren, A Small Dutch Island At The Western...
Walcheren, a small Dutch island at the Western end of the Beveland Peninsula was the setting
for one of the most underrated but critical engagements of the second world war. The summer of
1944 had saw a series of almost unprecedented successes by allied forces in northwestern Europe.
The Normandy landings in June had been followed by the breakout from the beachhead and an
advance of some 300 miles eastward across France to the low countries. By early October the
tempo of operations had slackened. The attempt in September to jump the lower Rhine at Arnhem
(Op MARKET GARDEN) with airborne troops had failed. It looked as if the battlefront would
remain west of the Rhine for the winter and that the war would last well into 1945.
The key to the supply problems was the port of Antwerp, captured with its dock facilities only
slightly damaged in September 1944. It was 50 miles from the sea and could not be used by the
allied shipping until the heavily mined Scheldt estuary had been made safe, but the Allied eyes were
on the Rhine crossings at Arnhem, not the lower Scheldt. By mid October the allies held most of the
mainland forming the southern bank of the estuary, but the Germans still held the island of
Walcheren, which guarded the port entrance. It was a matter of urgency for the allies to use
Antwerp as the supply problem threatened the to curtail the allied plan of prosecuting the war on a
wide front. As winter weather might be expected to start anytime, the decision was

The Sickness Onto Death And Sartre
Both Kierkegaard, in The Sickness onto Death and Sartre in Being and Nothingness present each
existentialist s view on the contemporary modes of inauthentic living that have been brought about
by modernization. Kierkegaard s explanation of inauthentic living stems from the notion of
Kierkegaardian Despair, which he ties into his idea of That Individual . Not quite similarly,
Sartre, through select chapters in Being and Nothingness conveys his perspective of
contemporary inauthentic living through an idea he calls Bad Faith . Both Kierkegaardian
Despair and Sartrean Bad Faith involve human suffering not at a psychological or physical level,
but rather an existential level. I strongly believe that the individuals suffer more from Despair

Kierkegaard defines Despair as the disrelationship in a relation which relates itself to itself
(Hackett, 80). It is, in other words, failing to or refusing to take on the challenge of trying to

authentic living in its simplest form. To understand how human beings suffer from Kierkegaardian

Domestic Violence And Drugs And Crime
Violence and drugs are typical factors of a crime related lifestyle. Drug users may not take part in
legitimate economy and are exposed to situations that encourage crime so the odds and frequency
of association in illegal activity is increased ( Fact, 1994). Drugs effect the behavior of users and
often time generates violence and can snowball into many other poor decisions. In Centervale,
California, domestic violenceis not taken lightly. Independently, domestic violence is an extremely
serious matter but adding other violations to the list of charges, the offender is staring at a heavy
sentence. In this case, Abby and Bobby have been in trouble with the law and this incident outside
their home may be what puts them both away for a very long time.
My officer and I received a call to respond to a domestic abuse situation. When we arrived at the
scene, Abbey and Bobby appear to be having an altercation outside of their house. There is blood
trickling down the side of Abby s head that she seemed to be oblivious to, her speech is garbled,
and Bobby has scratches all over on his hands and face. With this incident continuing outside and
the physical evidence, it has granted probable cause for an arrest. Probable cause is defined as facts
and circumstances that would lead a reasonable person to believe that there is evidence of a crime
located at a particular place or on a person (Argosy University Online, 2017). Both Abby and Bobby
are subjected to several charges. One of the

Analysis Of The Book The Catcher Of The Rye By Quot....
The Catcher in the Rye, a novel written by J.D. Salinger, follows the short journey in which a
teenage boy is coming to terms with his encroaching adulthood. Holden, the main character, has
been kicked out of a private school for the third time. In New York, he is on the verge of a mental
breakdown. Holden is reluctant to act on the obvious solution of returning home and feels
discombobulation towards the consequences he might have to face. He reflects on the death of his
brother and struggles from loneliness because his brother was the only person he really had a
connection with. He now has no one around his age to reach out to.Salinger illustrates through the

adult, but his childish acts always get in the way of positive reactions from adult and ultimately
his acceptance as an equal. In this search for his right of passage into adulthood,Holden is
constantly trying to keep prove himself. Holden is 17 years old, and he is not really a child

early chapters of the book Holden acts immature, but as the journey progresses so does Holden.
He comes to make rational decisions as his trip goes on as demonstrated by Salinger when
Holden calls Sally and asks her out on a real date; it is considerably less callow than when he

starts to learn and grow into his age. Notice that Holden only drinks in public and never in privacy.

A Study On Dry Needling
Dry needling is currently one of the scope of practice battles encountered in the physical therapy
profession. The hot topic is extremely controversial and is not only debated by physical therapists,
but by acupuncturists as well. The primary issue concerning dry needling is whether this technique
fits within the Physical Therapist Scope of Practice. The controversial aspect emerges since dry
needling is technically considered minimally invasive. Another issue that has appeared is the
insufficient amount of research conducted. In addition, dry needling is not currently included in the
DPT program curriculum. Therefore, physical therapists who want to acquire this skill are required
to take a continuing education course. Furthermore, there are currently only 18 locations in the
United States that offer dry needling education courses for physical therapists (APTA, 2012).
Another issue concerning dry needling is how this technique should be coded and billed. This being
said, it is illegal for physical therapists in New York, Idaho, Tennessee, Hawaii, and South Dakota to
perform dry needling in their practice (APTA, 2012). For example, Hawaii prohibits physical
therapists from puncturing skin under any circumstances (APTA, 2012). Although, dry needling is
not considered illegal in the other states, the state regulatory boards have not confirmed that it fits
within the Physical Therapist Scope of Practice. Furthermore, the APTA has even began contacting

Family Virtues Virtues are usually taught through the eyes of the wise, also known as the elder.
In the book The Lakota Way, by Joseph M. Marshall III, his tribe teaches virtues though story
telling. The virtues of the Lakota tribe and those of my family are more similar then I had
anticipated, although we do have our differences. The Lakota Way, stories and lessons for
living, is a book written in 2001 by Joseph M. Marshall III. Marshall dedicates his book to
Kimberly Jo Schumidt and Joseph N. Marshall II. The stories he tells through out his book are
those that have been passed down from his family about the Lakota s and their virtues. Marshall s

into her lodge she has sex with them but, when they wake the deer woman is no longer there
leaving the man forgetful of his family and in search of the Deer Woman. Unlike the Lakotas, my
family has gone out and seen their own type of deer woman wether it be with drugs, sex, or lies, but
never have they forgotten about the rest of us. My family has learned to embrace one another when
they have fallen into temptation, where the Lakotas would cast them out. My relatives have gone
through many hardships and difficult situations but the morals have set into our heads like
Koskalaka s grandmother set into his head. The many men whom the Deer Woman lured into her
lodge lost complete contact with their families and thus themselves. They left their family s worried
about where they could be and what could be happening to them. The men became selfish and
inconsiderate, and no longer showing the respect and attention that they should have been showing

Bailiff Research Paper
A Bailiff or a court official, would never have a boring day on the job. They do require a decent
education to better their chances of finding a job. The education requirements vary depending
on employer, jurisdiction and state. Most of the training is on the job and do not absolutely
require a degree. To become a bailiff you need to be aware of local laws, have self defence, first
aid certification, and know how to handle weapons (Career Cruising, 2018). However, having
some kind of criminal justice or law enforcement background education will significantly help.
Michigan s top law enforcement and criminal justice schools include Lake Superior State

may receive $33,200 annually which is $15.96 an hour. As an experienced bailiff they can make
$41,210 or $19.81 per hour in Michigan (Career Cruising, 2018). A court official has many duties
that they are responsible to carry out. A typical bailiff works around a 40 hour week including

Analysis Of Martin Luther King s Beyond Vietnam-A Time To...
Martin Luther King Jr., one of America s greatest civil rights leaders, was an avid protester of the
Vietnam War. Claiming that it is an enemy of the poor, he delivered a powerful speech called
Beyond Vietnam A Time to Break Silence at Riverside Church on April 4, 1967. Historically, King
s speeches have been known to evoke strong emotional responses from his audience. This speech
does not differ; the strong word choice and touching life stories King includes are essential in
connecting with the readers. With details and examples, he writes a compelling statement for his
cause, including logic while he develops his arguments. These two elements lead to the success of

Perhaps the clearest example of this is in paragraph three. This section covers King s
experiences in the ghettos of the North over the last three years. He says that as he walked
among the desperate, rejected, and angry young men, I have told them that Molotov cocktails and
rifles. An essential part of his reasoning falls in his counterclaim. While subtle, he includes it in
the beginning of the fourth paragraph, quoting the people who asked him: Aren t you a civil
rights leader? and thereby mean to exclude me from the movement for peace. By including this
statement, King allows for a differing perspective in his work, showing that he understands both
sides of the argument. King knows and acknowledges that to many, he seems a hypocrite:
someone who claims to be a civil rights leader fighting for equality but also someone who says he
wants peace. But by showing the differing sides of public opinion, he demonstrates that he
understands the diverse opinions that the readers may hold. It makes the argument seem less
biased and instead, more fair, which definitely causes his speech to seem more logical and

called chemtrails. Chemtrails are created when a jet engine is releasing hot, humid air into the
atmosphere that is cold and has low pressure, the result is these white lines that you see come out
of the jet. To break it down the jet releases water vapor and when it s coming out of the engine it
quickly condenses into water droplets and then turns into ice crystals. The ice crystals are the lines

chilling. Some people believe in the conspiracy theory that the chemtrails are not condensation that

I Chose The Constellation Of Pisces
I chose the constellation of Pisces. This is because it is my Zodiac sign and I wanted to learn more
about it. The Pisces constellation is found in the Northern Hemisphere and was introduced in the
2nd Century by Ptolemy, a Greek astronomer. It is usually portrayed as two fish, connected at the
tails by string, swimming in opposite directions.
The myth surrounding the Pisces constellation can be found in Greek mythology. According to the
myth, the constellation can be associated to the goddess Aphrodite and her son Eros. One version
of the story said that they themselves transformed while fleeing from Typhon. Another story would
say that two fish, which was placed in the sky, were the ones that carried Aphrodite and Eros away
from harms way.
If I were to create a myth about the constellation, I would do it with different circumstances. Ares
has always been an embodiment of everything male. Physically, he was perfect with a statuesque
physique, a blinding smile that would make your heart melt, sea blue eyes that seemed to have
the ability to pierce into your soul and dig up your very essence. He also had a double charm to
him, one side would reveal him to be a golden boy, very heroic and kind, yet he always had a
hidden twinkle in his eye, hinting that beneath all that charisma, he was also bad ass. All the girls
flocked to him. All except one. Aphrodite.
Aphrodite overflowed with love and beauty. How could she not? She was the goddess of Love and
Beauty after all. She

1. What are some ways the Christian gospel is perceived in our culture?
Christian gospel in many ways is perceived in this day and age are a lost word. People have the art
of praying and staying faithful to the word of God. God provided us with all kinds of blessings and
opportunities in life so that we can flourish and prosper. Also God took all our sinto the cross and
forgave us for everything we done that was not right in his eyes. We need to also understand that
there is only one God and we need to cherish it every day of our lives. Today s culture perceives the
Gospel almost the same was as old days but how man tries to rewrite the word to fits our society

4. What are some specific intellectual reasons people may reject the Christian gospel? Some of the
reasons intellectually that people reject the gospel is that they are not understanding or don t want
to understand the power that comes behind the word. The world develops minds that think and
breathe social media, television and other thing that separates us from the gospel. Other reasons
is that we are not discipline enough in our faith to want to learn the real truth behind the gospel.
The gospel tells us everything that God wants and have instore for us, until we get the discipline
to read and learn we as people will never know its meaning to make our lives better. 5. What can
Christians do to address these objections and better communicate the Christian gospel? We can just
be a testament to what beautiful blessings that we have received by being faithful to the word.
Christians need to show the non believers that there is good that comes out of having faith in the
gospel. Once non believers understand the word and how powerful it is sky s the limit on the many

Review of Culture Jam by Kalle Lasn
The advertising culture is having a devastating effect on our agendas of

media and corporations are the ones succeeding, not us. In Culture Jam, by Kale
Lasn, the founder of Adbusters magazine, he attempts to show the reader what our

When the average American thinks of consumerism, we believe it is the promotion
of the consumer s interests. What Lasn believes is that we re being told what our
interests are and to buy into those false interests. We ve become disconnected with

Have we lost all self in media?
When I first picked this book up for class, I decided it would be a
great read. Something that would challenge my concrete thoughts and turn them into
better ideas. It has, to an extent. I could relate to almost each and every example
Lasn has discussed, but I saw no conclusion at any point. Normally when we, as
thoughtful humans, are so adiment about a topic, we like to clarify a quick solution,
even if we don t fully discuss the outcome or dive into detail. He offered this
wonderful insight into the making of our modern day psyches, yet left me hanging for
a solution. Almost like the entire subject where he on how the television media

they can be more relaxed and invisible, such as are needed in a group of volunteers working at the

This process is helpful in identifying needed changes in the input and conversion stage to maintain
quality products Mainstream managers are interested in high quality products at the lowest
productivity cost possible while maintaining good relations and organizational wealth (Nuebert

performance standards. Multistream process standards are used not targets like the Mainstream

all stakeholders goals however much of the time they are able to foresee potential delinks and the
potential un connectivity of those chains (p556). The Mainstream focus on controlling their

How Does Flannery O Connor s Use Of Cumulative, Third Person
Flannery O Connor s use of cumulative, third person point of view with an objective narrative, and

The Dangers Of Snow Leopards
There are less than 5,000 snow leopards left in the wild. To put that in perspective, that averages
to about one for every 4 people that live on Ft. Leavenworth. Snow leopards pose no threat to
humans, but humans are the greatest threat to snow leopards. (1)A snow leopard is an amazing
creature. (2) Snow leopards are solitary animals that live and hunt in the rocky areas of the
Himalayas and surrounding mountains (National Geographic). (3) They have beautiful white
coats that are inches thick to keep them warm and help them hide and blend into their
surroundings. (3)Each leopard coat has different spots, like human fingerprints. (3)They are one
of the few large cats that understands to ration its food for days. (2) Snow leopards have tails as
long as their bodies that make a good scarf during the cold mountain nights (Defenders). (3) They
curl up in their tails to keep warm. (3) They are about 3 4 feet in length and around 2 feet tall. (3)
They can very far over 40 feet! (4) Snow leopards (pantherauncia) are special creatures that live at

(1) Snow leopards are an extremely miniscule threat to humans. (2) They are shy creatures, and
according to the Snow Leopard Trust, There has never been a verified attack on a human not even

would rather hide or run than confront a human. (3) They prefer to hunt and move at morning

she loves very much, so that others may become educated and join her in protecting them. She
dreamed of going to Africa to see them, and was offered a job by Dr. Lewis Leakey. Goodall wanted
nothing more than a chance to help. Her experiences in surrounding herself with them have
completely changed the way scientists conduct field research. Whether she intended to or not, the
data she has collected has debunked myths and uncovered truths about chimpanzees, while bringing
more light to humanbehavior.
Brief Summary
The book begins with Goodall in Africa, high up on steep mountains over six months into her trip
to Gombe Stream Research Centre. She then flashbacks, and tells the whole story of how she got
there. It begins when she was a child, and her mother bought her a stuffed Chimpanzee named
Jubilee. Her love grew until she was able to finally visit Africa by staying with a friend. There
she met Dr. Leakey, who at the time was a very famous anthropologist and paleontologist. He
hired her to study the chimpanzees and sent her to Gombe. There she follows a group of chimps,
and tells the stories of how she became a part of their life. She names them all, and follows them
for years. During this time she

Balthazar s Marvelus Afternoons
In the essay titled Balthazar s Marvelous Afternoon by Marquez explained how artistic the author
was. Author was creative in crafting as a carpenter, even though, Marquez was talented, and some
of his reality in the essay was not ordinary. After reading author essay, I was convinced and then
imagine how could human being, I mean someone who is struggling to make a living do those
things the author communicated in the essay. Not only that, but how would human being ignored
someone thinking they are dead. The first thing was when the doctor showed interest in buying the
cage, then said, I ll take it (p.20). That event is unreal in my opinion, because I believe as a
carpenter that put much work and hours on a cage with beautiful result,

Parenthood Vs Casey Case Analysis
Webster v. Reproductive Health Services (1989) sent shock waves through the United States as it
slowly peeled back the layers of Roe. To recap, Webster deemed it was constitutional for the
Missouri legislative chamber to include in a bill that the life of each human being begins at
conception despite this being a debated fact among the pro life and pro choice crowds. Another
interesting distinction that was upheld, and helped to light the fire for other states to enact this,
was that abortions could not occur at public hospitals or any state owned property. Essentially, what
Missouri said was abortionmay be legal, but we don t have to outright endorse it . This issue was
not addressed at all in Roe, but it clearly was a massive blow to... Show more content on

While Hellerstedt ruled in favor of the pro choice movement and did limit the scope that states
could regulate and restrict abortion access with, the other cases still expanded the states rights and
built several cases of precedent against the trimester framework of Roe. Nonetheless, the legal
argument for making abortion legal in the first place is still upheld to this day.
Legislation and Public Perception
According to the Guttsmacher Institute, which identifies itself as a pro choice organization, since
1973 and the Roe decision 25% of anti abortion legislation has occurred from 2011 present. This is
not a coincidence, but rather a product of various other factors ultimately arriving at the conclusion
that the time is coming for the Court to once again review Roe and determine its constitutionality.
Various forms of legislation have occurred in recent years, which were meant to limit the access to
abortion as well as in general strip away at the right. It would appear a majority of states enacting
these laws are trying to move as close to the line between current constitutionality and
unconstitutionality on this issue to ultimately force the Court to once again take the issue up and
determine its

Women s Women Faced Gender Discrimination
Prior to the 1970 s women faced gender discrimination in politics in regards to plausibility about
political obligation that falls along the lines of gender. Various gender representation within a
representative democracy were consistent of male supremacy. Women were denied full citizenship
rights such as the right to vote. Women fought for their suffrage in order to gain the right to vote
and be entitled social, civil, and moral rights for themselves. Despite the increasing presence of
women in American Politics, genderstereotypes still existed. In 1972, Congress passed Title IX in
order to end sex based discriminationin higher education. Although, the act never explicitly states
athletics, the act did become recognized frequently in the case of athletics in higher education. In
addition to athletics, Title IX extends to prohibiting gender bias in education and the workplace.
Even though, there are gains in gender equality with the passage of Title IX, stereotypical bias
infiltrate prejudices that frame the full potential of Title IX.
Despite the fact that the major emphasis and repercussion of Title IX focused on the areas of
intercollegiate athletics, the original document did not mention athletics. However, every person
should be entitled to the equal right to participate in sports, despite the color of their skin, social
status, or gender. Sports build character and emphasizes the values of teamwork, perseverance, and
hard work. In the area of athletics Title IX

Essay About Rock
Our rock, Inez proclaimed. What I imagine you two probably didn t think at all about was... what
was truly going to happen to our rock when we fired the magnetron. When the magnetron sent its
microwaves into the rock, they actually went through it, hitting the iron plates on the other side,
and were then reflected back our way where the Geiger Counter took a series of measurements of
them. Those measurements were then analyzed by my program and then given to us. Inez hit
another command on his keyboard bringing up a new screen. Before all three of them now
appeared what seemed like endless rows and columns of ones and zeroes, each row in groups of
eight numbers. What you re looking at is what s called bytes, Inez stated. Each byte... Show more

And, it has to happen so fast on our end that there s nothing the volunteers can do to stop it. So,
we wait, then, Cassidy affirmed. We wait, for now, acceded Inez. This sucks, Phillip sulked.
Awe, man, don t get so down, Inez said. Good things come to those who wait. We ll get all of this
out there when the time is right and we ll make everybody have to listen to us then. Yeah, I
guess, you re right, Phillip agreed reluctantly. Hey, man, do you want to see something else that
s really cool? asked Inez hoping shuffled the conversation to a brighter note. Yeah, what? Phillip
asked, sounding a bit eager. Well, if this experiment was anything like the first one I did
yesterday, then we should have one more result. What is it? asked Cassidy, Inez s revelation
having also recaptured her attention. Well, this is kind of freaky if it happened, so be
forewarned, Inez avowed. Come on, tell us, Cassidy pleaded. Okay, Phillip, my man, why don t
you go pick up your rock? said Inez with a gesturing head nod. Okay, Phillip said assenting to the
request somewhat tentative as he looked over at Inez then glancing at Cassidy. Summing up the
courage, he then complied, making his way over to where the rock still sat atop Inez s computer
desk. Slowly, he reached out a timid hand, cautious to touch the stone. Then, making contact, he
ever so lightly glazed over it with his index finger searching for anything unusual, any

The Frivolity of Evil by Theodore Dalrymple Essay
The article The Frivolity of Evil by Theodore Dalrymple analyzes the causes of human misery. His
work as a psychiatrist in Great Britains slums afforded him a great vantage point to analyze this
topic nearer to the fundamental of human existence. He concluded that the citizens of Great Britian
willingly participated in precipitating their own misery. Their are three recurring theme in his
article the lack of moral responsibility, extreme individualismand lack of cultural expectations.
Dalrymple begins his article by showing the mind frame of a prisoner released from prison, who
had the idea that he had paid his debt to society. In order to get his point across Dalrymple

He believed that this shift in thinking leads people to imply that dissatisfaction with life is itself
pathological. The idea that this is an illness that can be cured by a doctor. Dalrymple believed that
this form of thinking stands in the way of people understanding their situation and impedes moral
change. The lack of moral responsibility was a recurring theme he observed in his patients. The
patient who claimed unhappiness had three different children by three different men. The fathers of
the three children lived a life of criminality and violence. Knowing this she still choose to enter into
a relationship with them regardless of the consequences. What is confounding is the lack of moral
responsibility the patients exhibit towards her children. Their is no punishment from the government
or society for the actions she makes. The idea of self interest is prominent is this articles. These
individuals base their decisions on their on self interest. They only have a responsibility to their
own happiness. Her actions are due to the fact that she did not want to remain alone. He mother
based her decisions to turn her daughter out based on the thought that her own sexual liaisons were
more important than caring for her child. The mother of the patient created a cycle of misery for
her daughter that, the daughter in turn will create for her own children.

  • 2. The Problems And Challenges Of Performance Management Part 3 Empirical chapter Discussion of the Problems and Challenges of performance management Performance management mostly is not successful as expected in the public sector. According to Her Majesty s Inspectorate of Constabulary for Scotland (2005) a thematic inspection of performance management noted that though performance management was substantially developed , a long way is still needed to go before everyone was responsible for providing a good service and many areas of performance management in the early stages of implementation existed as well . There are many implementation reasons causing these problems, for instance, the reduction of government spending (Gianakis, 2002), or purely a tool for management rather than a tool for ... They are preponderantly difficult problems (Pollanen, 2005; Adcroft and Willis, 2005) and especially in terms of data quality (Black et al., 2001), the choice of indicators (Black et al., 2001; Bevan and Hood, 2006; Carvalho et al., 2006), validation (Evans, 2004; Carlin, 2004), reporting (Pollanen, 2005; Adcroft and Willis, 2005) and usage and interpretation (Neely et al., 1995; Wilcox and Bourne, 2003). Nevertheless, organisations are focusing on improving the technical problems of their indicators (Pollitt, 2005). Secondly, systems problems are related to the bigger picture issues, i.e. integrating performance systems into the original systems (Gianakis, 2002), a lack of strategic view which encourages short term thinking (Neely et al., 1995), the ambiguity of performance objectives (Pollanen, 2005), sub optimisation (Neely et al., 1995; Pollitt, 2000; Gianakis, 2002; Adcroft and Willis, 2005) and the cost of performance management (Train and Williams, 2000; Holzer and Yang, 2004; Pollanen, 2005). The third kind of problem are the significant people issues and their involvement inside the PM system among inter multiple stakeholders (Black et al., 2001; Wang and Berman, 2001; Gianakis, 2002; McAdam et al., 2005). • 3. The Importance Of Oppression In America Indigenous people had their tribes and land taken away by the colonized that came from Europe. This includes Native Americans, Hispanic land and African lands becoming invaded and oppressed. Oppression refers to the exercise of power to keep others in a state of subjection and to treat them unjustly by denying what is due them as their right by virtue of their humanity. (Nader Saiedi) People have faced oppression for hundreds of years for countless different reasons. When we hear the horrid stories explaining why people were dehumanized we may think that these reasons are illogical or unjustifiable. Yet back in time they were reasonable. If you were poor, colored, A woman or had different religious beliefs there was a reason to attack that specific group and deny them the basic rights. Now as a developed nation we have rioted, protested and died for equality. In Heckler s Inaugural Address he speaks about equality and Valparaiso University as one. We all deserve the same rights as a black person, white person, homosexual or heterosexual. It does not matter where we come from or what we believe in because we are all entitled to the same legal and social powers. Education equality is one of the most important kind of right. Education is the only ticket out of minimum wagejobs, poverty and oppression. Education is powerful because it gives us credibility, knowledge and equality. • 4. Giselle Ballet Essay First announced as a two act performance on June 28th, 1841, Giselle is a famous ballet about a young peasant girl who falls in love with a noble man, but dies upon hearing that he is betrothed to another woman. During this early period of history, women were looked down on by men and viewed as being extremely emotional. Despite this background, some people still conclude that the depiction of women is not precise enough in this ballet. To me, however, it is very clear; I believe that Giselle characterized women as being weak. In the opening scenes Giselle is seen joyously dancing and being pursued by her lover Albrecht. She dances with him for an extended period of time which seems to make her a little faint; at 0:13:45 in the ballet she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This scene has even been named the mad scene due to her shocking response and delirious pointing. In my opinion, if she were a strong woman, she would have realized that he wronged her and would have not gotten so upset or thrown herself into a chaos that ended up costing her life. She also wouldn t have had such low self esteem to say in scene 8, I should die if he does not love me anymore (42) as if there is nothing more worth living for than a man. The idea of madness at the time was always connected with women. Women were thought to experience overpowering emotions due to hormones and this idea was vividly illustrated by Giselle in the mad scene . Once again, since Giselle was the main female character, this also showed women as being feeble and less than. Finally, I noticed that it seemed like most of the women in the ballet could not let go of something which I believe also portrayed women as weak. In Act 2, at 1:27:55 in the ballet, Giselle places herself in front of Albrecht to save him from the evil revenge of the Wilis. She continues to dance in his place and protect him even though he very obviously did her wrong; he led her on in the first act. Giselle can t even let go of a man who practically cheated on her. On the other side, the Wilis will not let go of their past experiences with men and their need to get revenge on men in general. Some may argue that the Wilis seem strong in the sense that they have the power to possess any man and make him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Napa Valley History Napa Valley is a region of California (United States), known for its wine production. Napa s name derives from Wappo which is the name of the indigenous Indians who inhabited the region. The valley is located in Napa County. Its length is 48 kilometres long, concentrates more than 300 wine producers and represents, somehow, the new industry, not only because it produces excellent quality wines, but because it has managed its merger with gastronomy and tourism. Each year about 8 million people visit Napa Valley, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in California (Gmelch et al., 2011). According to Paul Wagner , Janeen Olsen and Liz Thach (2010), despite the economic difficulties worldwide, this market continues growing thanks to the increased demand from a new generation of consumers who are keen on wine, the Millennial Generation. They are people of both sexes, aged between 20 and 32 years, representing over 70 million of the US population. Paul Wagner points out: They are young, have no fear and they were born with a computer under his arm and an MP3 in the pocket consequently they do not accept established traditions about wine, they are adventurous and wine is not just a drink, but a ticket to travel to other places, to other countries . ... Kathryn Sorrels, the author of the book, Intercultural Communication: Globalization and Social Justice said, Often the assumptions, stereotypes, and attitudes we hold about people from different cultures or distant countries come solely or primarily through media and popular forms such as movies, TV programs, and celebrities (Sorrels 125). Sorrels then gets her audience to think about if it is the producers fault or the actors fault for taking the role. Sorrels later talks about the 3 areas to look at when studying popular culture. Only 2 and 3 are very important, (2) textual analysis, where the actual product or text the TV program or film ... is analyzed for symbolic meaning and narrative content; and (3) audience analysis, where the means and interpretations that viewers/reader/listeners decode from popular from popular culture text are investigated. The information is something to consider when viewing a sitcom, how does the audience know if the information is accurate. Most viewers just believe most of what they see on ... • 8. The Role Of Technology In The Private Eye The Private Eye explores society s views on technology by contradicting what the reader may expect with its portrayal of a society that is strongly opposed to, and fears, current world views and attitudes towards technology. Fear drove the people of The Private Eye in a whole new direction technologically with it s use of masks and other appearance changing devices and, while it would be easy to say this is true because it s practical in their world, there s more to it in a way that mirrors today s thoughts on technologyand its potentials. The people of the story gravitate towards what they know and, while accepting some new technologies like futuristic masks, reject anything that breaks the rules of what they think is human. Real people generally enjoy the ideas of sci fi esque technology at least in theory, however, many are concerned about the real life implication of such inventions due to their perception of what is considered crossing the line when it comes to what technology should be allowed to do. Technology may make life more convenient, but when it goes to what people deem as too far or beyond human, that being inventions that seem to go beyond nature, privacy, in the case of The Private Eye, does technology become a problem. Time and place are also crucial to whether or not people will be willing to accept such ideas as demonstrated in the story, but what goes against ideas of nature tends to be the strongest and most important reason as to why people may ... • 11. Gender Deviance In Sweetheart Of The Song Tra Bong Does deviating from one s gender norms inevitably doom one down a spiral of moral corruption? Tim O Brien, author of Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong and Ernest Hemingway, author of The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber , certainly seem to hold this view, as evident by the fates of the major female characters in their respective works. The deviance of the major female characters in both works appears to corrupt not only themselves, but also pollute their partners, causing them to suffer injury or harm as a result. The degree of injury ranges from negligible, like Fossie s demotion and broken heart, to fatal, like the bullet that rips through Macomber s skull. It begs the question, are these stories meant to serve as cautionary tales for their female readers, or possibly for their husbands, so they may recognize genderdeviance and stop it in its tracks before their wives transform into Margot Macomber or Mary Anne Bell? This essay will analyze what such characters say about pervading views of women, both in society and in literature. At the end of Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong , Mark Fossie gazes upon his previously demure and sweet girlfriend as a demon, surrounded by carnage, a necklace of shriveled human tongues around her neck as she stands barefoot in the hootch of the Green Berets. Pica is the act of eating items that are non nutritive, in other words they have little to no nutritional value to the human body. Walcheren, a small Dutch island at the Western end of the Beveland Peninsula was the setting for one of the most underrated but critical engagements of the second world war. The summer of 1944 had saw a series of almost unprecedented successes by allied forces in northwestern Europe. The Normandy landings in June had been followed by the breakout from the beachhead and an advance of some 300 miles eastward across France to the low countries. By early October the tempo of operations had slackened. The attempt in September to jump the lower Rhine at Arnhem (Op MARKET GARDEN) with airborne troops had failed. It looked as if the battlefront would remain west of the Rhine for the winter and that the war would last well into 1945. The key to the supply problems was the port of Antwerp, captured with its dock facilities only slightly damaged in September 1944. It was 50 miles from the sea and could not be used by the allied shipping until the heavily mined Scheldt estuary had been made safe, but the Allied eyes were on the Rhine crossings at Arnhem, not the lower Scheldt. By mid October the allies held most of the mainland forming the southern bank of the estuary, but the Germans still held the island of Walcheren, which guarded the port entrance. It was a matter of urgency for the allies to use Antwerp as the supply problem threatened the to curtail the allied plan of prosecuting the war on a wide front. The Sickness Onto Death And Sartre Both Kierkegaard, in The Sickness onto Death and Sartre in Being and Nothingness present each existentialist s view on the contemporary modes of inauthentic living that have been brought about by modernization. Kierkegaard s explanation of inauthentic living stems from the notion of Kierkegaardian Despair, which he ties into his idea of That Individual . Not quite similarly, Sartre, through select chapters in Being and Nothingness conveys his perspective of contemporary inauthentic living through an idea he calls Bad Faith . Both Kierkegaardian Despair and Sartrean Bad Faith involve human suffering not at a psychological or physical level, but rather an existential level. I strongly believe that the individuals suffer more from Despair than Bad Faith, as there are aspects of nothingness and anguish of Bad Faith that intensify the suffering. The Sickness onto Death by Kierkegaard encompasses the notion of inauthentic living. Kierkegaard defines Despair as the disrelationship in a relation which relates itself to itself (Hackett, 80). It is, in other words, failing to or refusing to take on the challenge of trying to become, as Kierkegaard calls it, That Individual . Also, by doing so, we are failing to achieve authentic living in its simplest form. The hot topic is extremely controversial and is not only debated by physical therapists, but by acupuncturists as well. The primary issue concerning dry needling is whether this technique fits within the Physical Therapist Scope of Practice. The controversial aspect emerges since dry needling is technically considered minimally invasive. Another issue that has appeared is the insufficient amount of research conducted. In addition, dry needling is not currently included in the DPT program curriculum. Therefore, physical therapists who want to acquire this skill are required to take a continuing education course. Furthermore, there are currently only 18 locations in the United States that offer dry needling education courses for physical therapists (APTA, 2012). Another issue concerning dry needling is how this technique should be coded and billed. This being said, it is illegal for physical therapists in New York, Idaho, Tennessee, Hawaii, and South Dakota to perform dry needling in their practice (APTA, 2012). For example, Hawaii prohibits physical therapists from puncturing skin under any circumstances (APTA, 2012). Unlike the Lakotas, my family has gone out and seen their own type of deer woman wether it be with drugs, sex, or lies, but never have they forgotten about the rest of us. My family has learned to embrace one another when they have fallen into temptation, where the Lakotas would cast them out. My relatives have gone through many hardships and difficult situations but the morals have set into our heads like Koskalaka s grandmother set into his head. The many men whom the Deer Woman lured into her lodge lost complete contact with their families and thus themselves. They left their family s worried about where they could be and what could be happening to them. The men became selfish and inconsiderate, and no longer showing the respect and attention that they should have been showing to their family because of the Deer Woman. • 28. Bailiff Research Paper A Bailiff or a court official, would never have a boring day on the job. They do require a decent education to better their chances of finding a job. The education requirements vary depending on employer, jurisdiction and state. Most of the training is on the job and do not absolutely require a degree. To become a bailiff you need to be aware of local laws, have self defence, first aid certification, and know how to handle weapons (Career Cruising, 2018). However, having some kind of criminal justice or law enforcement background education will significantly help. • 29. Analysis Of Martin Luther King s Beyond Vietnam-A Time To... Martin Luther King Jr., one of America s greatest civil rights leaders, was an avid protester of the Vietnam War. Claiming that it is an enemy of the poor, he delivered a powerful speech called Beyond Vietnam A Time to Break Silence at Riverside Church on April 4, 1967. Historically, King s speeches have been known to evoke strong emotional responses from his audience. This speech does not differ; the strong word choice and touching life stories King includes are essential in connecting with the readers. With details and examples, he writes a compelling statement for his cause, including logic while he develops his arguments. These two elements lead to the success of Martin Luther King Jr. s speech. This section covers King s experiences in the ghettos of the North over the last three years. While subtle, he includes it in the beginning of the fourth paragraph, quoting the people who asked him: Aren t you a civil rights leader? and thereby mean to exclude me from the movement for peace. By including this statement, King allows for a differing perspective in his work, showing that he understands both sides of the argument. King knows and acknowledges that to many, he seems a hypocrite: someone who claims to be a civil rights leader fighting for equality but also someone who says he wants peace. But by showing the differing sides of public opinion, he demonstrates that he understands the diverse opinions that the readers may hold. It makes the argument seem less biased and instead, more fair, which definitely causes his speech to seem more logical and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. I Chose The Constellation Of Pisces I chose the constellation of Pisces. This is because it is my Zodiac sign and I wanted to learn more about it. The Pisces constellation is found in the Northern Hemisphere and was introduced in the 2nd Century by Ptolemy, a Greek astronomer. It is usually portrayed as two fish, connected at the tails by string, swimming in opposite directions. The myth surrounding the Pisces constellation can be found in Greek mythology. According to the myth, the constellation can be associated to the goddess Aphrodite and her son Eros. One version of the story said that they themselves transformed while fleeing from Typhon. Another story would say that two fish, which was placed in the sky, were the ones that carried Aphrodite and Eros away from harms way. If I were to create a myth about the constellation, I would do it with different circumstances. Ares has always been an embodiment of everything male. Physically, he was perfect with a statuesque physique, a blinding smile that would make your heart melt, sea blue eyes that seemed to have the ability to pierce into your soul and dig up your very essence. He also had a double charm to him, one side would reveal him to be a golden boy, very heroic and kind, yet he always had a hidden twinkle in his eye, hinting that beneath all that charisma, he was also bad ass. All the girls flocked to him. All except one. Aphrodite. Aphrodite overflowed with love and beauty. How could she not? She was the goddess of Love and Beauty after all. She ... The author s goal in writing this book is to discuss her experiences and what she had learned from studying wild Chimpanzees. Goodall wrote this book in order to convey her knowledge of a species of animal she loves very much, so that others may become educated and join her in protecting them. She dreamed of going to Africa to see them, and was offered a job by Dr. Lewis Leakey. Goodall wanted nothing more than a chance to help. Her experiences in surrounding herself with them have completely changed the way scientists conduct field research. Whether she intended to or not, the data she has collected has debunked myths and uncovered truths about chimpanzees, while bringing more light to humanbehavior. She then flashbacks, and tells the whole story of how she got there. It begins when she was a child, and her mother bought her a stuffed Chimpanzee named Jubilee. Her love grew until she was able to finally visit Africa by staying with a friend. There she met Dr. Leakey, who at the time was a very famous anthropologist and paleontologist. To recap, Webster deemed it was constitutional for the Missouri legislative chamber to include in a bill that the life of each human being begins at conception despite this being a debated fact among the pro life and pro choice crowds. Another interesting distinction that was upheld, and helped to light the fire for other states to enact this, was that abortions could not occur at public hospitals or any state owned property.
