Themistocles Oedipus In The Persian Expedition
In The Persian Expedition, Xenophon follows the fate of 10,000 Greek mercenaries as they make their
long and arduous journey from deep in Persian territory back to Greece, their homeland. In addition to
details of the trip, Xenophon discusses some personal qualities of Cyrus and the leaders of his
mercenary s. Themistocles was an Athenian politician from a slightly earlier period who rose to
prominence using his cunning, cleverness, persuasion, and deception. Presented favorably by Plutarch
in The Rise and Fall of Athens: Nine Greek Lives, and critically in The Histories of Herodotus,
Themistocles is not discussed by Xenophon. Although he demonstrated the intelligence that Xenophon
valued, Themistocles deceptive nature, greed, and self interest ... Show more content on

Xenophon s main reason for disliking Menon was his deceitfulness and dishonest nature: The shortest
road to the achievement of his desires lay he thought through false swearing, lying, and cheating
(Xenophon, 2.6). Xenophon also valued the honesty of Cyrus. He would tell no lies to anyone
(Xenophon, 1.9). Themistocles was also deceitful and willing to do whatever was necessary to
survive, as illustrated by his clever trick in Salamis: so he cast around for a counter stroke and hit
upon his celebrated trick Siccinus (Plutarch ,3.12). Even when Themistocles did not lie outright, he
valued his manipulative powers: Themistocles told them that he had brought two gods, persuasion and
compulsion (Plutarch, 3.21). He used his cunning to get his way, threatening to lie to get the sailors in
trouble if they crossed him: but partly by entreaties and partly by the threat that he would denounce
them to the Athenians and make it appear that they had known all along who he was, but had taken
him on board in the first instance for a bribe, he forced them to stand out to sea and reach the coast of
Asia (Plutarch, 3.25). Themistocles, though brilliant and clever, resorted to lying and manipulation
when honesty was not productive enough, in contrast to the truth telling Cyrus, whom Xenophon

The Necessary And Proper Clause
The Necessary and Proper Clause can sometime be called the Coefficient or elastic clause, is an
enlargement, not constriction, of the powers expressly granted to Congress. These powers and duties
can be found in several places in the Constitution. The Necessary and Proper Clause allows the
congress, to establish the laws in which we follow to be necessary and proper to be implemented in all
powers vested by the Constitution in the government of The United States also known as the (Article
1, Section 8, Clause 18).
The Necessary and Proper Clause grants the Power that are implied in the constitution but it s not
explicitly stated in the Articles. This is why it s referred to as the implied powers. The best way to
explain the Necessary and Proper Clause would be in the subject debate between Secretary of the
Treasury who was Alexander Hamilton and Secretary of state Thomas Jefferson. Mr. Alexander
Hamilton made a big deal to have the interpretation of clause explain in details. His point was to open
the doors ways to authorized Congress to exercise a more of the implied powers. While Thomas
Jefferson concern was how much power the government would have in just one branch. He wanted to
make sure one didn t have more power over the other. Jefferson argued that the necessary and proper
clause was a restrictive adjective. While Jefferson was fighting for States Rights it made Hamilton s
interpretation ended up been more favorable by George Washington and James Madison.

Dance Camp Short Story
Dance Camp
Lily got out of the door of their black car and saw the Interlochen Fine Arts Camp sign. She let out a
small squeal and said, I can t believe I am going to the Fine Arts Camp!
Lily looked to her dad and he said, Well you deserve it since you are the top dancer in your dance
studio. Also, you didn t spend hours of dancing for nothing.
As they pulled up to the large white gateway a person was standing by it she had a white shirt on and
navy pants. The woman looked up and yelled , What s your name, what category are you in?
My dad said, Her name is Lily Huston and she is in the dance category. We drove through the large
white gateway and went to the dance dorm room location. There were large beautiful bushes and
bright blue hydrangeas. They parked in the driveway and my dad said softly and a little bit teary eyed,
I will miss you over the summer. I hope you have a good time and be safe. Don t fall, don t get sick,
and do not cheat! Then he gave her the biggest hug she ever had.
She said I will miss you too, don t forget to pick me up! She gave him one more hug and her dad
hopped into the car, waved and drove off.
Lily walked into her assigned dorm and saw her best friend, Kaitlin.
After they said their hello s and then Lily looked at the other side of the pale, white room and saw a
girl named Lydia. She was scoffing at them as they were done saying hello .
Lydia stood up and said, Wow, this will be an easy competition!
Then Kaitlin said

I Am A Soldier And A Good Person
The army has taught me so many great things. It taught me how to be a disciplined soldier and a good
person. I was inexperienced of life before I joined the army. Therefore, I was overwhelmed of life
lessons when I came to basic training. However, I learned the seven army values which were loyalty,
duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage; I experienced every value
throughout my training process. They help me to discipline myself to be a good soldier and a good
person. The value that I honored most was integrity. I was taught that integrity was doing what s right,
legally and morally. However, throughout my training experience, I understand integrity as fearless, to
tell the truth, responsible for your own action, and hardworking.
Integrity means the courage, to tell the truth. In the beginning of my training process, I was told to
study the seven army values by heart. I didn t understand why my drill sergeants made such a big deal
about those values. The seven words were easy to remember, and we all knew the meaning of them.
However, I changed my mind when I witness Lopez s situation. Lopez ate a Twister bar and left its
wrap in the trash can. My drill sergeants found out about it and questioned the whole platoon. Lopez
was fear of the punishment, so he didn t admit his wrong action. Lopez was considered having no
integrity by the whole platoon. However, Lopez wasn t the only one who was accused of having no
integrity; my drill sergeants were

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Instruction In Higher...
Nowadays, the role of technology in instruction is undeniable. We live in a digital world. No one
should go back to 19th century s teaching method. Instruction using technology to deliver coursework
in higher education has seen an unquestionable explosion (Scott, 1999). Although the use of
technology in higher education is more prevalent, it also shows it s significant in early learning
environment and primary school. Technological tools such as internet, digital camera, i pad and
interactive whiteboard are used to upgrade the learning outcomes (X. Christine Wang, 2008).
Technology based Instruction or more commonly known as e learning, constitutes instruction via
electronic technology, such as Internet, webcast, audio and video conferencing. ... Show more content

Richard E. Clark stated in his research (Clark, 1994):
First, there was no significant difference in test scores between the two groups despite the
experimental groups not attending even a single on campus lecture. This was amazing to those
associated with the study, all of whom half hoped to validate the significance of the class lecturer to
the learning process. This is not to say that Internet based instruction was not heavily impacted by the
instructor. It only suggests that role of the instructor changed for the Internet based instruction.
Therefore, distance education might not necessary prevails the learning in authentic classroom. There
are some downsides for distance learning too. For instance, the virtual and non face to face learning
space might makes some students feel lonely and isolated. They could not experience the conviviality
of a campus life. Although this problem can be solved by frequent online contact with instructors and
taking part in virtual help groups, virtual forums or virtual campus (Fominykh, Prasolova Førland,
Morozov, Gerasimov, 2011), there is no credible collaboration among the students. In this point, the
theory of Vygotsky which advocated that learning occurs throughout the process of social interaction,
is not implemented (Vygotsky,

Tiger Woods
What makes golf the phenomenal sport it is today? Is it the game itself? Some say golf started in
fifteenth century Scotland by men hitting a pebble with a wooden stick. Currently, graphite drivers
routinely send the ball soaring 300 yards. Perhaps it was the golfers who made the game great. Arnold
Palmer brought golf to the masses in the 1950 s and Jack Nicklaus has set records that have yet to be
broken. However, today sports commentators, pro golfers, and weekend duffers, generally agree the
game of golf has been changed forever with the arrival of Tiger Woods. Eldrick Tiger Woods was born
on the 30th of December 1975, the only child to biracial parents Earl, a retired lieutenant in the army,
and Kultida a stay at home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In short Tiger Wood s made golf cool; he became the Michael Jordan of golf. One result of the huge
impact Tiger Woods had on the game of golf was that the amount of prize money rose astronomically.
For example three years prior to the Tiger Woods impact a typical tournament purse was about
$500,000. Currently the typical purse for a PGA tournament could be in excess of $5 million.
Individual annual winnings have increased from Paul Runyan in 1934 ($6,767) to David Duval in
1998 ($2,591,031). There was a significant jump one year later when Tiger earned $6,616,585 in 1999
and finally the phenomenal amount earned for Tiger Woods in 2006 was $9,941,563! It is striking to
see from this data how the purse has increased as Tiger Woods became so dominate on the tour. The
television ratings increase every time Tiger is on TV. I remember when Mickelson and Chris DiMarco
were duking it out in 2004 [during a playoff], my first thought was how strong the ratings would be.
They went down, as opposed to up, in every Masters tournament that Woods has won. The ratings and
popularity of golf have increased since Tiger won the Masters in 1997. Companies such as Nike,
American Express, BMW, and Titleist are willing to contribute more and more money every year for
each tournament s purse. The individual golfers also receive exponentially better endorsement deals.
Major corporations are willing to spend

Day 0: Background and Mission Start It is February here on Earth. The year is 2071. Humans have
long abandoned the idea of completely colonizing Mars. Instead, they have decided to build outposts
in space much like the European explorers in the 16th century, on route to China for trade to protect
the motherland s trade route from enemies and refuel ships. About 10 years ago, scientists began
building an outpost on Mars a few miles from Gale Crater. Robots are maintaining the facility, but
their hands are not quite suited for wiring the base. Thus, NASA deemed it necessary to send humans
to Mars to get the base running for future missions on an improved version of NASA s Orion
spacecraft. The Orion spacecraft ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jim Sardonis Reverence Analysis
The sculpture that caught my eye the most for this assignment is called Reverence by Jim Sardonis.
This piece of artwork is a three dimensional assemblage sculpture. It is made of pieces of granite
which is an igneous rock. It was put together piece by piece which required special tools and
equipment and also a lot of space to work. It is an in the round sculpture, which means the whole thing
cannot be photographed in one photo and there are many different views of it depending on where you
are standing. This is a beautiful sculpture that has many meaning to it. It depicts two whales tails as
they appear to be diving into a field of grass. The grass represents the ocean. First of all, it puts the
viewer in awe of one of the largest animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sardonis made this art to show the world that we, as a whole, have a great effect on the living
creatures in this world, no matter how big or how small. We should have much more respect towards
animals that live in our oceans. The whales tails in the sculpture are about 12 feet long. I assume they
would look very large in person but they are nowhere near the size of a realistic whale s tail. I think
seeing the big tails in person would make people realize little things can and should be prevented so
we don t destroy the habitats and homes of underwater creatures like these huge whales. Whenever
humans let unnatural substances into the water, (example: oil spills) it causes pollution which is
leading to the extinction of whales. This sculpture is making people notice the beauty of these
humongous whales in hopes of making us more cautious in what we do in our everyday lives to
preserve the lives of these mammals. It will be our fault when the species of whales are extinct.
Humans continue to pollute oceans everyday by putting our dirty, untreated sewage water straight into
the water where these animals live. This is causing the population of whales and other animals in the
ocean to die down

various topics from paranormal phenomena, to myths, monsters and witchcraft. For most of my life,
spirituality was a very similar elusive quest.
I was raised in religion. Catholicism. Its impact may not have meant much at the time but as my life

the more I explore, as we will be doing in this class, I realize I haven t even touched the tip, of the

spirituality is not religion. Although for myself without religion to use as a comparison I might not be

routine screening for skin cancer in their patients. Effectiveness of screening is described as early
detection of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer in order to reduce mortality and morbidity rates.
2. Is the problem studied one that is common to your practice? If a therapeutic intervention or a
diagnostic test is being studied, is it feasible?
The problem studied is common to practice and it is stated that the incidence of melanoma has
increased rapidly in the United States. This study aims at examining routine skin cancer screenings.
Routine skin cancer screenings by a primary care provider are feasible, particularly if the routine skin
cancer screenings are performed on patients determined to have increased risk factors associated with
developing skin cancer.

Isolation
In Stephen King s novel, Rita Hayworths and the Shawshank Redemption, every prisoner in
Shawshank Prison is locked up, not only literally, but also metaphorically. There are different levels of
captivity in Shawshank, the large, recreation yard to solitary confinement. The prison is a community
outside of the world the prisoners have been removed from. Strict schedules, all of the sadistic
keepers, and the oppressing Sisters add sense of captivity and isolation from the outside world.
Shawshank shows the prisoner s isolation to themselves and they hide their senses of identity.

I hope I can make it across the border.I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is
as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope. Red s statement during the end of his narration reinforces
central roles of hope. This plays in Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. Finding Andy s
letter came at the best momen possible, mainly due to Red s first couple months of freedom after
being paroled have been rough. Red s transition was difficult and the struggles of finding a place in
this society. He is in danger of violating terms of his probation and intentionally returning to familiar
surroundings of the Shawshank Prison. First entering prison, multiple inmates hate losing control of
their lives, but later miss the f control once they are free. The ordered lifestyle offers routine and
discipline while freedom, highly treasured once before, becomes foreign, threatening and frightening.
Women seemed to be threatening to Red and his life, and his job felt unsatisfying. The request from
Andy to join in Mexico, gives Red that push and purpose in which he has been lacking. Even with Red
s fears that the waters of the Pacific will not be as blue as he has imagined, he realizes that there may
be a chance he won t be able to find Andy. But the friendship they have has infused Red with strength

I believe we have a quorum for tonight s meeting, stated Arthur Rictus, President of Quail Quarry
Strata Council. Six of us are present. Only Council Member Fern Wood is missing. Madame Secretary,
would you read the minutes from our meeting last month?
Certainly, said Secretary Flint. Those present at the meeting included: President Arthur Rictus, Vice
President Sam Pindy, Secretary Edith Flint, Treasurer Rex Skinner, and Council Members Bert Dourly

The minutes are as follows: Whereas the Schedule of Standard Bylaws of the Strata Property Act of

Rictus that a notice be sent to all property owners, including Mr. Jack Hansen, advising them late
payment of strata fees is unacceptable and a fifty dollar fine will be levied for each contravention of
this bylaw. This was seconded by Treasurer Skinner.
Whereas the Schedule of Standard Strata Bylaws states approval must be obtained before making
changes to any common strata property, including doors, windows, skylights, and grounds, it was
moved by President Rictus and seconded by Vice President Pindy that Mr. Andrew Morris be ordered
to remove his new skylight at his own expense, pending approval by the strata council, and that Mrs.

Immunity in the U.S. Court Essay
The right to not incriminate one s self is established within the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution.
The Fifth Amendment states, No person...shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness
against himself (Davenport, 2006, P. 87). People may plead the fifth as a means of refusing to answer
questions about alleged criminal activities. The right to not self incriminate, is a fundamental right
meant to protect individuals from being forced into giving evidence that could be used against one s
self. This concept against self incrimination extended to forced confessions due to Miranda v. Arizona.
In the Miranda case, the Supreme Court decided that police have an obligation to inform a suspect to
his rights under Constitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some cases this works in two ways. For example, if a defendant gives testimony about a murder
cases and says were they threw the gun, police cannot be asked to search for the weapon to be used as
evidence. However, if by chance someone independent by the government finds the weapon and turns
it in, the weapon can be used as evidence against the defendant (Davenport, 2006). The other form of
Immunity is transactional immunity, which is absolute protection against prosecution for any event or
transaction about which a witness is compelled to give testimony or furnish evidence (Neubauer, 2011,
p. 466). This form of immunity is said to be the preferred form of immunity by defendants, because
the government will be barred from prosecuting the defendant for a crime they were granted immunity
(Davenport, 2006). Use immunity grants less protection than transactional immunity in that witnesses
may not refuse the government s offer of immunity. In this case, accepting immunity is forced and is
not a choice. In the case Kastigar v. United States, the belief was that Charles Joseph Kastigar would
use the Fifth Amendment protection against self incrimination. The issued an order granting immunity
but Kastigar and Stewart refused to testify (Kastigar v. United States Case Background, 2009). The
claim was that only transactional immunity, which was not granted, would

Differences Between The Disney Movie Hercules And The...
Michael Spera October 1, 2014 Christopher Parker GNHU 285 The average viewer might not notice
but there are a lot of differences between the Disney movie Hercules and the actual Greek myth. The
reason being that Disney was targeting a younger audience with their movie and did not want to
obviously put in some of the more graphic content of the actual myth. Some of the main differences
are that in the Greek myth Hercules has a very short temper and usually has anger issues. These anger
issues often get people accidentally killed. In the Disney movie he is shown to be very nice and calm,
this is done because they want him to seem more endearing and what parent would want their kid to

The Collapse Of The Space Shuttle Before Columbia
In the year of 2003, on February 1, a tragic accident had occurred in the atmosphere above Texas as
the space shuttle called Columbia was on it s way to land at the Kennedy Space Center. The shuttle
itself was on its 28th mission and was just one of the five space shuttles that was used amongst
NASA. But on this particular day, it wasn t like the rest because astronauts are supposed to return
home safely; that s not what happened on this day. There were seven astronauts that were inside the
shuttle. Their names were Rick Husband, David Brown, Michael Anderson, Laurel Clark, William
McCool, Kalpana Chawla, and Ilan Ramon. They had all died in an explosion within the shuttle itself.
NASA was trying to figure out how this could ve happened. They ran through many possibilities of
what could ve gone wrong and they came to the conclusion that the reason the shuttle had exploded
when coming through the atmosphere was because a chunk of foam hilt a wing of the craft. This was
suspected to be the reason when tape was analyzed of the takeoff before Columbia went into space.
NASA wanted to know if it was the real reason but didn t want anyone else to know of the issues
besides them. The Department of Defense had asked permission from the people working for NASA
to use orbital spy cameras to analyze the problem. But NASA had said no to their offer and went on to
analyze and check the disaster for themselves so that they knew what the problem was. They call this

Sea Cows Extinction
Both the reading and lecture talk about the extinction of sea cows. The reading claims that there are
three reasons about the extinction of sea cows. Howevere the lecture argues that no evidence proves

professor mentions that sea cows have not been overhunted by people. In other words, sea cows were
pretty massive and enomous. But native Sebirian people were not very much. So people could not

Care For Health Campaign Essay
The care for health campaign was the first family planning promotion to be done in Russia and it
helped increase the use of modern contraceptives by 12%. It was part of the women´s reproductive
health program (WRHP) which involved training of health care providers, advocacy and research.
This intervention resulted in increase in family planning counselling for women, longer continuation
rates of contraceptives and increase in clinic attendance for family planning in the intervention areas.
This program was birthed in 1994 by the US Agency for international development to improve the

The objectives of a campaign should resonate with the strategy (Myanmar, 2013). This is the point
where one asks questions such as what do I need to do to achieve the overall goal of the campaign? In
this case, one of the campaign objectives was to increase knowledge and positive attitudes towards
modern contraceptives. In so doing, the campaign would be meeting the overall strategy which was to
bring family planning to the public arena and to highlight its importance.
Choosing an age bracket is also essential as one is able to seclude the target audience in order to make
the campaign strategy more effective. The age bracket for women chosen was 18 30. This was also an
appropriate age since it is the prime age for reproduction.
One of the activities done was to disseminate the family planning message through national television.

Cowboy Vs. Samurai
Despite being titled Cowboy vs. Samurai, there is no literal cowboy or samurai, or a physical
showdown between the two; instead it is an ideological clash between the two extremes in what they
represent: identities. Set in a present day town Wyoming, Golamco presents to us the desperate
struggles of Travis and Chester in defining their own identities and find a sense of true belonging,
during which they must both turn to reference and reiterate the conventions of meaning that define
communities, societies or nations (Lee, 185).

As the species that depends on sight more than any other scent, seeing so often has certainly become
much more than believing, which is only further reinforced by this age of intense and numerous visual
stimuli. Upon my recent visit to New York City, I could easily see that the line for the virtual city ride
at the Empire State building was much longer than that for the observation deck. This mania for visual
experience has taken over, increasing our conviction in what we see as what is, despite their crucial
differences. Yet, this is no newfound novelty. The human tendency to take things at their face value is
ancient and persisting. This excessive dependence on visual stimulation has led to an excessive false
belief in the falsity of appearances; a belief that causes the casual classification of people that is so
rigid and narrow in its function that failure to fit into them results in losing one s sense of identity,
even when identity is itself such a fluid and complex concept. I have always contended that human
beings have a tendency to classify what we experience into categories and assign them with labels.
With our dependence on visual stimulation, we generate concepts and categorizations based on what
we see, and file them away to be used on a wider scale, allowing those who live in China and those
who live in the UK to synthesis the signified through a similar signifier. As our world becomes more

Essay on National Labor Relations Act
History
The National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), also known as the Wagner Act, was enacted in Congress
in 1935 and became one of the most important legacies of the New Deal. Prior to the passage of the
NLRA, employers had been free to spy on, interrogate, discipline, discharge, and blacklist union
members. Reversing years of federal opposition, the statute guaranteed the right of employees to
organize labor unions, to engage in collective bargaining, and to take part in strikes. The act also
created a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to arbitrate deadlocked labor management disputes,
guarantee democratic union elections, and penalize unfair labor practices by employers. The law
applied to all employees involved in the interstate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More commonly, the union will obtain authorization cards from 30% of the employees of a company.
At this stage the union can now petition the National Labor Relations Board to have an election. For a
union to be organized the employees must represent an appropriate bargaining unit. The appropriate
bargaining unit must have a mutuality of interest among the workers. This interest is determined by
job duties, job similarity, skill levels, work site proximity and no management employees.
Once these criteria are met an election occurs to determine if employees want to unionize. The
National Labor Relations Board oversees the election to make sure that a true secret vote is secured. If
a majority of employees, which is one vote over 50%, agree to join the union then the NLRB certifies
the union as the bargaining representative.
Management s Responsibilities
Members of management of a company whose employees are attempting to organize cannot, by law,
join a union. Once preliminary organizing begins and during the election campaign, employers have
certain rights and responsibilities, as mandated by the NLRB. The employer may lawfully limit
campaign activities that occur on company property, if it has a legitimate reason to do so. Employers
may also limit places where solicitation may occur, limit time during which solicitation may take
place, and limit access to the workplace by any outsider. Employers may limit distribution of union

The Growth Of Electronic Commerce
Growth of Electronic Commerce Commerce is the activity of buying or selling things. When two
person come together to change things in return of something they are doing business. Traditionally,
trade was done by meeting in person with the buyer or seller but that doesn t hold true in the 21st
century. Today most of the business have adopted electronic form of business. John B. Horrigan
writes, Two thirds (66%) of online Americans say they have purchased a product online, such as a
book, toy, music, or clothing. Many people have moved on with online shopping for some good
reasons that comes with it. One of the reason is it being convenient. E commerce provides option of
home delivery which saves effort of actually going to the store and move around to make a choice.
Buying online means to just seat on your couch and make a selection without even moving from your
place. The best part of it is that you just have to place the order and it gets delivered at your doorsteps.
Number of internet users have been increasing since 2000, but the online transaction rate has been
increasing more rapidly. 78% of internet users either agree (53%) or agree strongly (25%) with the
proposition that shopping online is convenient for them (Horrigan). The other reason why electronic
form of business is popular is that it saves a lot of time to people. While it makes convenient to buy
almost everything from home, it also save time to travel to and from the store. Horrigan says that 68%

Born on 28 February 1929 in Toronto, Canada, Frank O. Goldberg entered a household with a strong

couple with deep religious morals. Once they settled in Toronto, the two decided to change their last

The Goldberg family relocated to Timmins, Ontario during Frank s adolescent years. Unfortunately,
during these times, Frank saw how mean kids can be as he was given the nickname Fish . People did
not accept his religion, Judaism, and the nickname was supposed to put him down but Frank would
later use that as a basis for his some of his creations. During this time, he explored atheism because of
these difficulties (Hines, 1986).
Finding and Designing Love
After Frank s father grew sick, the Goldberg family moved to Los Angeles where some of the family
already resided. Ironically, they lived in an apartment that was close to where the Loyola Law School
would be built in later years, according to Frank s blueprints. At this time, the family was struggling

1952. Two years later, with the permission of his family, Frank decided to change their last name to

The Three Primary Components Of Metatheory Theory
a. Metatheory is a theory about theory and it allows us to understand the philosophy driving our
decisions about research methods, designs, and analysis. The three primary components of metatheory
are ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Ontology is the study of the nature of reality; ontological
scholars have two main stances: realist or nominalist. A realist believes that reality is orderly, fixed,
and measureable, while a nominalist believes that reality is subjective. Similar to nominalists are
social constructivists, their views of reality are subjective as well. As for epistemology, the study of
nature of knowledge; the two opposing stances are objectivist position or subjectivist position.
Objectivists believe it is possible to know and explain the world by studying objective reality, as for
subjectivists who can only understand the world from the involved individuals; often times leaving
bias opinions. Lastly, axiology is the study of values; the values in beauty and aesthetics by judging
the good or bad within them.
b. Relational Dialectics Theory
The ontological assumptions of relational dialectics theory use a nominalist and social constructivist
stance because as stated on page 33 of the textbook, Reality is both orderly and chaotic. Reality is
subjective. Rawlin s six main dialectic tensions involve six scenarios where it is a push or pull style.
These scenarios indicate involving an individual s experience. Therefore, the reality of relational

a popular debate between both of its major political parties. Naturalization by birth has become
something of a heated topic within the parameters of immigration in politics since the starting of the
2016 presidential debates. The first line of the opening statement in the Fourteenth amendment states:

citizenship more valuable , deterring unauthorized migration, and reducing chain migration.
Changing the Birthright clause to include solely the children of naturalized citizens, will ensure that
after the correct processes, those who truly desire the right to all of the freedoms that the United States
offers, will strive to receive American citizenship. If a legal alien opts to remain a non citizen but stays
as a legal permanent resident any children born and raised by them in the U.S. can make the decision
for themselves once eligible whether or not they wish to become naturalized citizens.
In a journal article by Alex Street on the issue of birth naturalization in Germany, he points out that
parents are prone to naturalize while their children are young, in order to ensure that their children
grow up as citizens of the country of residence. He continues by pointing out that By granting
citizenship to many children born in Germany to immigrant parents, the introduction of jus soli
(citizenship by birth) removed this intergenerational incentive for parents to naturalize. (Street Nov.
2015) If it someone truly wishes to live the American Dream and ensure that for their children, why

Objectives Of The New Deal
The New Deal In 1929 the United States and the rest of the world were beginning to deal with the
Great Depression. During these hard times, many people believed that the federal government should
have a larger role in the economy. These beliefs led to the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt. In
President Roosevelts inaugural speech, (1933) he first used the great phrase, ...the only thing we have
to fear is fear itself... He needed to strengthen our nation and boost the confidence of the citizens. It is
because of these realities that Franklin D. Roosevelt and his advisors created The New Deal.
Key Objectives of The New Deal The New Deal was made up of three main objectives. These
objectives were relief, recovery, and reform. As a country, we needed relief and recovery from the
great depression. Unemployment was through the roof, farmers were struggling to succeed, and our
economy was in shambles. Agencies and programs were created to help alleviate these problems and
create jobs. Agencies were also created to reform industry and banking practices that had a large hand
on our path to The Great Depression.
Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) A great example of one of the relief programs would be the
Civilian Conservation Corps. The idea was to take young men and provide them jobs in forests,
infrastructure, and other public projects. This not only provided work for the young men and their
families, but also helped us rejuvenate our natural landscape. The Civilian

only thing stopping Prince Albert is himself. In the movie he states: If I m King, where s my power?
Can I form a government? Can I levy a tax, declare a war? No! And yet I am the seat of all authority.
Why? Because the nation believes that when I speak, I speak for them. But I can t speak ( The King s
Speech (2010) ). Prince Albert was a troubled child who was repressed of using his left hand,
possessed knock knees, had an abusive nanny and a death of a brother at an early age. As time passed,
Prince Albert never grew out of his comfort zone and continued to speak poorly. Because Prince
Albert speaks of himself that way, we can assume that communication is essential in leading a nation
and is a foundation for personal life, relationships, professional success and civic life. By saying that a
nation believes when he speaks, one can generally expect a leader for any reason or cause to possess
great speaking skills in order to be prosperous. The old phrase, actions speak louder than words had

The Universal Theme Of Power In Olemet s Play Oleanna
Through italics, capitalization, and length of discourse per character, Mamet s play Oleanna develops
the universal idea of power as a constant struggle amplified by gender tension and the human
tendency to crave power.
Mamet uses length of speech and interruptions to demonstrate that people become desperate when
powerless and will do anything to regain power. The play begins with a long monologue by John. He
talks on the phone and completely ignores Carol, because she holds little power in the relationship of
professor and student. John is enveloped in his own world and pays no attention to Carol. The phone
is a symbol of power for John and he uses it to interrupt Carol and belittles her perspective. Near the
end of Act One, Carol seems like she is gathering the courage to tell John a secret about her life that
she has never told anyone before, but the phone interrupts: All of my life... (The phone rings.)...
(JOHN goes to the phone and picks it up) and he continues to argue on the phone for an entire page
(Mamet 38). Carol is powerless and therefore insignificant, so John ignores her and worries about his
house. Power is a finite resource; consequently, people compete for the limited power. Mamet uses
interruptions and length of dialogue to express who is in control. Carol has gained the upper hand as
Act Three begins. John attempts to lecture Carol like he has done in all the previous acts, however,
Carol interjects:
CAROL: I was most surprised you asked me.

Technology allows teachers to provide differentiated instruction to students. While traditional methods
such as lectures and reading the textbook work for some students, these methods do not take into
consideration the individual needs of a student or incorporate multiple learning styles and

Essay on Ode to a Nightingale and Two Look at Two
Ode to a Nightingale and Two Look at Two
In Ode to a Nightingale and Two Look at Two , both poems tells of an experience in which the human
characters encounters animals in the poems, the experiences are handled quite differently in the two
poems.
In Ode to a Nightingale , Keats often express his sad feelings and uses the Nightingale and portray it
as some sort of a god or peaceful symbol. As the poem started off with Keats expressing how drunk
the character was and that as if he has taken some drugs hemlock, and that he wanted so much to drink
more so that he can enter this world in which this Nightingale is in.
Keats shows a kind of experience that is not very realistic / not real, or another word like a dream, ...

Away! For I will fly to thee,
Not charioted by Bacchus and his pards,
But on the viewless wings of Poesy.
He adds to this, as he wants to escape with the Nightingale.
Comparing this with Two Look at Two Keats rather imagines and let the character fly away like in a
dream, but in Two Look at Two Frost uses personification to make the doe and the buck acts like a
person, and although they don t actually talk, Frost adds some sort of thinking and speech for them
from him. This can be seen on the following lines:
She seemed to think that two thus they were safe.
Then, as if they were something that, through strange,
She could not trouble her mind with too long,
She sighed and passed unscared along the wall.
Another better example is when Frost actually makes the buck speaks later on in the poem:
Why don t you make some motion?
Or give sign of life? Because you can t.
I doubt as if you re as living as you look.
Here Frost has turned this experience or confrontation with the buck into like a conversation.
And looking back at Keats s Nightingale poem, Keats does not show as much signs of personification
as Frost has, and in Frost s poem, the experience with the animal in this poem is not as relaxing as it is
in
Keats, as the scenarios tell us that it is dark, and the surrounding is rough, with rock and washout, and
unsafe in darkness, and then as the characters meets these animals, the

Richard Kuklinski Essay
Richard Kuklinski When a man is a product of his environment and the environment is filled with
violence and hatred, the possibilities are horrifying. Richard kuklinski is a prime example of just that.
His childhood was something no human, let alone a child should go through. His anger built up and
his life eventually was overcome by it. He then progressed to a cold blooded killer, starting small, and
then ending with the mob until his capture.
Richard Kuklinski was born on April 11, 1935, to poor Polish parents, Anna and Stanley Kuklinski, in

pistol himself, he decided not to use it, earning him DeMeo s respect. After paying back the money he
owed, Kuklinski began carrying out varied tasks for DeMeo and the Gambino family. One day DeMeo
took Richard out to his car and parked on a city street. DeMeo then selected a random target and
ordered Kuklinski to kill him. Without hesitating, Kuklinski got out, walked towards the man, and shot
him in the back of the head as he passed by. From then on, Kuklinski was DeMeo s favorite enforcer.
Over the next thirty years Kuklinski killed numerous people. The police force wasn t expecting all
these murders to be from one man because he used so many different methods of murder. These
include guns, knives, explosives, tire irons, fire, poison, asphyxiation, and even bare handed beatings.
He favored the use of cyanide since it killed quickly and was hard to detect in a toxicology test. He
would variously administer it by injection, putting it on a person s food, by aerosol spray, or by simply
spilling it on the victim s skin. One of his favorite methods of disposing of a body was to place it in an
oil drum. His other disposal methods included dismemberment, burial, or placing the body in the trunk
of a car and having it crushed in a junkyard. (Blanco). Kuklinski earned the nickname Iceman after he

Sweatshops In Developing Countries
Todays, when the citizenship is concentrated, sweatshop is becoming a striking issue of controversies.
Especially in developed countries, this problem is always boycotted, but on the other hand it is an
opportunity for people in underdeveloped countries to change their lives. Although sweatshop is
considered as a complex issue with underpayment and underworking environment, they are beneficial
to change the old ideologies, economic growth, and fair working conditions. Firstly, women choose to
work in sweatshops in developing countries because this is their only source step out of unavailable
and unthinkable situation. Women in these countries tolerated outdated beliefs, such as being
restricted to domestic chores and relying on their husbands. Their lives are always in a vicious circle
that they want to escape but do not know the right way, so working in sweatshops provide women not
only chance to create stable income, but also sense of their own independence. As the writer mentions
that with the small income from garment sweatshop, women in Bangladesh can manage their finances,
have their own choice in marriage and having children (Sachs, quoted in Garyfalakis, para5).
Moreover, they have chance to go to school and gain their special skills. For example, earning $1 to
$2 in Indonesia or Bangladesh sounds unbelievable, but it can help a woman feed her kids and restrict
diarrhea disease (Kristof and Wudunn, 2000). Women in these countries also admitted that even

What Is The Archetypes In To Kill A Mockingbird
Literary criticism is an informed written analysis and evaluation of a literature. Also literary theory is
a means to understand the various ways people read and connect through texts. In the novel, To Kill A
Mockingbird (TKAM) by Harper Lee, the story displays archetypal criticisms through using multiple
archetypes within the work. This criticism displays how reoccurring symbols, situations, and themes
help develop the story. Throughout the novel, the archetypes being the hero, victim, and the tree as a
symbol for friendship are used. The hero archetype is reflected numerous times in TKAM. One
character who shows heroic traits is Scout when the text states, Jem shrieked and tried to catch me, but

Tom Robinson, who was the main victim of the novel, had been defended by Atticus who had said,
And so a quiet, respectable, humble negro who had the unmitigated temerity to feel sorry for a white

because he suffered from the statements that Bob Ewell said and was cheated. Although he is against
white people who have their stories wrong and filled of lies, he is the one who loses the case when this
should not have been what occurred. As a result of this, it causes him to be sent to prison where he
later kills himself. This is due to the fact that this ruined his emotional state which led to the build up
to his death. Similarly, Boo is a victim as his image is ruined by people such as Miss Stephanie
Crawford whose rumors say, As Mr. Radley passed by, Boo drove the scissors into his parent s leg,
pulled them out, wiped them on his pants, and resumed his activities (Lee 13). Boo is a victim because
he is deceived. Since not much is known about him, the town of Maycomb spreads rumors, which lead
to false impressions about him. Also, he suffers by how he is perceived because this leads for him to
not come out and face all of the prejudice within Maycomb. Most importantly he is emotionally hurt
because in the beginning of the story Jem and Scout are curious about him and want to see him when
he does not want to be with anyone at all. Likewise, Jem is a victim as he was being helped from the
encounter with Bob when he was with Scout because it was seen that, Jem s arm was dangling crazily
in front of him (Lee 353). As Jem and Scout are coming back, Jem is mainly a victim since he is
physically harmed from this event by having his arm broken by Bob Ewell. He was targeted by Ewell

2 Differences between countries in terms of their cultures and institutions
The first issue that we are going to discuss is about the differences between countries in terms of their
cultures and institutions. Culture is the characteristic way of behaving and believing that a group of
people have developed over time and share in common (Briscoe, Schuler Tarique, 2012). Whilst
globalization is undoubtedly an important aspect of economic activity, it is less significant in its scale
and consequences than some enthusiasts claim (Scholte, 2005). Further, the ways in which the
international management coordination of economic activities is developing reflect established
patterns of economic globalization and competition at national level, such that these structure any
emergent properties of a new transnational business system (Dicken, 2007). So, in this section we are
going to explain evidently the scope of country differences more predominantly. We will divide it into
two perspectives, which are cultural perspectives and institutional perspectives which developed by
Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars.
2.1 Cultural Perspectives by Geert Hofstede
Hofstede defines culture as the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes the members
of one group or category of people from another (Rees Edwards, 2011). There are five dimensions

investment in information technology will lead to competitive advantage, what does make a difference
is the competency to innovate with IT over a period of time. This shows how Tesco s innovation of the
Clubcard has enabled them to differentiate from their competitors, as they have shown the notion of
innovation that is not easily replicated. Specifically, Tesco use of information technology has lead to a
competitive advantage as it is used to leverage differences in strategic resources.
Evidence of this is supported by Rowley (2005), who describes how Tesco s ability to understand their
customers effectively, as a source of both differentiation and cost advantages, provides them with a
competitive advantage. Rowley states that unlike other companies, Tesco uses data about its customers
to provide services for them. This innovative capability allows making correct decisions about which
products to supply and the best way to introduce this

History Rhymes
A NAME IS MUCH MORE THAN JUST A NAME. HISTORY DOES NOT REPEAT ITSELF but
sometimes it rhymes.
I m just asking simple question and expect simple answers.
Q: is it alright to name an Indian kid Ajmal Amir Kasab?
Q: is it okay to name a kid living in America Osama bin Laden?
One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often a good thing to do and always a clever thing to
say. If we do not learn from the mistakes of history, we are doomed to repeat them. When it comes to
the lessons of history there are doubtless many things we could aspire to learn.
Some of those would be more practically useful, in terms of contributing to the normal and decent
functioning of well meaning societies than others. One lesson of history is that religion has many
lives, and a habit of resurrection. How often in the past have God and religion died and been reborn!
Atheism ran wild in the India of Buddha s youth, and
Buddha himself founded a religion without a god; after his death Buddhism developed a complex
theology including gods, saints, and hell. It is an utter shame that Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor
chose to name their child after an Islamic ruler who massacred lakhs of ... Show more content on

He referred to himself as the `Sword of Islam and converted much of his empire to the religion.
Indeed, Taimur was a human monster. For people saying they have every right to name so, do you
know that you can t name your child as Adolf Hitler in Germany and other European nations. You
could get arrested on the charges of hate crimes. But I am really worried about the kid. You can t
imagine what he will have to face when he will go to school. Children with special names gets a lot of
attention in institutes. This child is going to file a mental abuse case on his father for naming him like
this. I don t support this name, it seems too stupid to me. I don t oppose it either, come on naming a
child is a personal decision of his/her parents. I believe in my ideas which are mixture of both

The Requirements For Home Area Network Security
Abstract:
The main objective of this document is to create and analyze the requirement for home area network
security. Security set up balance is always required against the risk being moderated. As HAN is
related to the households there is a little interest paid to the home area network security. Earlier the
threats for the HAN were other malicious programs and viruses. Now in this modern world with the
invention of wireless networking, broadband and convergence of various communication technologies
which has been implemented by HANs, these vulnerabilities have increased more. Public has a very
less knowledge on theft of personal information, hacking of credit cards and they are not going to
affect them a lot. Thus this document illustrates the present and future technology of home area
network security and how is it going to affect and also some of the security measures for home area
network.
1. Introduction:
In this modern era, everyone has a computer and has an internet connection. The benefits that go with
networking and the interconnection of computers have made a lot of impact into an average
household. Home area network is referred as the downward pricing trend of the personal computers
and the networking hardware. The latest versions of the different operating systems comprise of
network wizards which facilitates configuring of a home local area network practically easy.
Nowadays anyone can have a home area network at their place by connecting the PC

Essay on Character And Theme In Rip Van Winkle
In Washington Irving s Rip Van Winkle, Rip s character is closely correlated with the theme of nature
and its prominence over the ever changing world. The story is set in the Kaatskill Mountains, an
important setting with a luminance that does not falter throughout. Similarly, Rip is immediately
described as a respectable and well liked man in his mountainous setting. Right off the bat, the two
can be easily associated. The magical elements in the story cause Rip to fall asleep for twenty years,
and upon waking, he is in a world completely changed by the progression of time. However, despite
the extreme alterations, only Rip and the nature that he is so familiar with are able to prevail,
remaining ultimately unaffected by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Almost as soon as the grand setting is told, the designation of the story itself, the character Rip Van
Winkle, is introduced. He is depicted ideally as well, said to be simple and widely liked, and most
importantly good natured. Without hesitation, it is stated that he is a descendant of a family who
played a more than respectable role in the history that helped to capture and establish the land that is
now his mountainous village. He is recognized as more than the average citizen already, perhaps one
of great influence, not unlike the nature itself. He was, moreover, a kind neighbor and an obedient
henpecked husband. Indeed, to the latter circumstance might be owing that meekness of spirit which
gained him such universal popularity, (Irving 702). Despite this constant distressing of his spouse,
made eminent in the opening pages, Rip was able to ignore the chronic squabbling and seek elsewhere
for loyal friendships, which in turn, boosted his regard. After some time, however, the nagging became
overbearing, and he was forced to flee to the highest peak of the mountains where he would be
surrounded by nature, and thus was at ease with himself. However, Irving introduces a twist; the
nature of the mountains cast a magical command upon Rip and forced him into a sound sleep for
twenty years. When he awoke Rip found himself an old man in a place that was, at first,

Analysis Of Ethos And Pathos In Aria By Richard Rodriguez

ENGL 1310.050

Ethos and Pathos in Aria
Bilingualism is the ability to communicate in two different languages. Bilingual education is the use
of two different languages in classroom instruction. According to the Encyclopedia of Children s
Health, and many other researchers, languages are learned the easiest during a child s youngest years.
Therefore, when a child is growing up in a bilingual home or is receiving bilingual education, can
easily speak both languages. Children who grow up in a household where two languages are spoken,
usually acquire both languages simultaneously. Although their ability quality and skill of each
language may be somewhat slower than a child that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having to live a life of two languages leads to an insecure identity. Rodriguez argues that learning
both languages and using them rather than avoiding one, leads to a better sense of identity and
freedom. Thus, his intended audience are people who are of higher education, scholars, and educators.
Both himself, and the audience have shared values which entail: independent thinking, self knowledge
, education, commitment to the affairs of the world , and scholarship and intellect. Rodriguez
convinces the audience to seriously consider his claim through effective appeals to ethos and pathos.
Ethos is developed in the area of authority by personal anecdotes and in the area of credibility by
shared values. Pathos is effectively evoked via experiences he had that make the audience more likely
to pause and consider his claim.
First, Rodriguez develops ethos in the area of authority, which is the author s ability to demonstrate a
command over a subject matter and to offer an informed persona. Although Rodriguez initially
struggled with his adjustment into the American society and speaking English, he did not let that limit
his capabilities of being a successful in the classroom. Rodriguez s article appeared in The American
Scholar magazine at a critical time in the debate over bilingual education models (Robinson 236). The

Prejudice, comformity and stereotyping in American History X
Introduction To The Topic
American History X is a great film that portrays prejudice, stereotyping and conformity. Prejudice is
negative attitudes toward others based on their gender, religion, race, or membership in a particular
group. Prejudice involves beliefs and emotions that can turn into hatred. Having an opinion or idea
about a member of a group without really knowing that individual is a part of prejudice. Some people
make judgments about a whole group of people without knowing very much about them. Sometimes
people are afraid of those who seem different from them and unfortunately, they express that with
name calling and negative treatment. When people grow up with these ideas, sometimes it s hard to
get rid of them. Like in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Is Dry Information
Wet and Dry Information: Dry information, also known as formal information, is non contextual,
unambiguous, standardized, routinized, and is often used to explain how to do certain tasks. Dry
information is easily replicated and easily transferrable due to it s universal language among peers.
Examples of dry information include quantifiable measures, such as, facts, statistics, and routine
procedures explaining how to do something. Where as, wet information, also known as informal
information is developed from social interactions which can often be described as contextual,
unorganized, and demonstrating local values. Wet information is often used to connect one form of
information to another, thus, explaining why it is exactly that we should do certain tasks. Examples of

There are many technological advancements that have come to impact our society and human
behavior. For example, prior to the advancement of technology, we as a society used to communicate
with one another through personal interactions of through the traditional measures of pen and paper. In
contemporary times, due to the advancement of cell phones, we now as a society have conformed to
communicate with one another primarily through the use of a cellular device. Another example of how
technology has impacted human behavior is how we currently able to gather information. As a society,

The Costing Method Is An Accounting Process
A1. Costing Method Costing Method is an accounting process that assesses itemized input costs of
production and fixed costs to determine overall costs of production. (Kucera, n.d.) Competition Bikes
is performing this analysis so management can determine the optimum sales units to breakeven from
its San Diego plant based on the current sales mix of 9 Titanium bicycles for every 5 CarbonLite
bicycles produced. Traditional costing is an easily implemented costing method that aligns with
generally accepted accounting principles, GAAP. Traditional costing is the distribution of
manufacturing overhead costs across the number of products produced based or another volume based
metric. Traditional costing is very simplistic in the fact that it doesn t allocate out any
nonmanufacturing costs. Traditional costing allocates costs to generic buckets such as direct material,
direct labor and other overhead. Activity based costing (ABC) was developed as a costing method to
overcome the weaknesses of traditional costing. ABC allocates costs to every activity, or
manufacturing task, associated in the production of an item. ABC is more accurate than traditional
costing. Competition Bikes grouped the following as tasks associated with the manufacturing of
bicycles; Factory Setups, Quality Control, Engineering Service, Product Movements, Utilities, and
Depreciation. (Johnson, n.d.) In Competition Bikes data analysis of traditional verses activity based
costing, the differences in costs is

  • 2. Themistocles Oedipus In The Persian Expedition In The Persian Expedition, Xenophon follows the fate of 10,000 Greek mercenaries as they make their long and arduous journey from deep in Persian territory back to Greece, their homeland. In addition to details of the trip, Xenophon discusses some personal qualities of Cyrus and the leaders of his mercenary s. Themistocles was an Athenian politician from a slightly earlier period who rose to prominence using his cunning, cleverness, persuasion, and deception. Presented favorably by Plutarch in The Rise and Fall of Athens: Nine Greek Lives, and critically in The Histories of Herodotus, Themistocles is not discussed by Xenophon. Although he demonstrated the intelligence that Xenophon valued, Themistocles deceptive nature, greed, and self interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Xenophon s main reason for disliking Menon was his deceitfulness and dishonest nature: The shortest road to the achievement of his desires lay he thought through false swearing, lying, and cheating (Xenophon, 2.6). Xenophon also valued the honesty of Cyrus. He would tell no lies to anyone (Xenophon, 1.9). Themistocles was also deceitful and willing to do whatever was necessary to survive, as illustrated by his clever trick in Salamis: so he cast around for a counter stroke and hit upon his celebrated trick Siccinus (Plutarch ,3.12). Even when Themistocles did not lie outright, he valued his manipulative powers: Themistocles told them that he had brought two gods, persuasion and compulsion (Plutarch, 3.21). He used his cunning to get his way, threatening to lie to get the sailors in trouble if they crossed him: but partly by entreaties and partly by the threat that he would denounce them to the Athenians and make it appear that they had known all along who he was, but had taken him on board in the first instance for a bribe, he forced them to stand out to sea and reach the coast of Asia (Plutarch, 3.25). Themistocles, though brilliant and clever, resorted to lying and manipulation when honesty was not productive enough, in contrast to the truth telling Cyrus, whom Xenophon ... • 3. The Necessary And Proper Clause The Necessary and Proper Clause can sometime be called the Coefficient or elastic clause, is an enlargement, not constriction, of the powers expressly granted to Congress. These powers and duties can be found in several places in the Constitution. The Necessary and Proper Clause allows the congress, to establish the laws in which we follow to be necessary and proper to be implemented in all powers vested by the Constitution in the government of The United States also known as the (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 18). The Necessary and Proper Clause grants the Power that are implied in the constitution but it s not explicitly stated in the Articles. This is why it s referred to as the implied powers. The best way to explain the Necessary and Proper Clause would be in the subject debate between Secretary of the Treasury who was Alexander Hamilton and Secretary of state Thomas Jefferson. Mr. Alexander Hamilton made a big deal to have the interpretation of clause explain in details. His point was to open the doors ways to authorized Congress to exercise a more of the implied powers. While Thomas Jefferson concern was how much power the government would have in just one branch. He wanted to make sure one didn t have more power over the other. Jefferson argued that the necessary and proper clause was a restrictive adjective. While Jefferson was fighting for States Rights it made Hamilton s interpretation ended up been more favorable by George Washington and James Madison. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Dance Camp Short Story Dance Camp Lily got out of the door of their black car and saw the Interlochen Fine Arts Camp sign. She let out a small squeal and said, I can t believe I am going to the Fine Arts Camp! Lily looked to her dad and he said, Well you deserve it since you are the top dancer in your dance studio. Also, you didn t spend hours of dancing for nothing. As they pulled up to the large white gateway a person was standing by it she had a white shirt on and navy pants. The woman looked up and yelled , What s your name, what category are you in? My dad said, Her name is Lily Huston and she is in the dance category. We drove through the large white gateway and went to the dance dorm room location. There were large beautiful bushes and bright blue hydrangeas. They parked in the driveway and my dad said softly and a little bit teary eyed, I will miss you over the summer. I hope you have a good time and be safe. Don t fall, don t get sick, and do not cheat! Then he gave her the biggest hug she ever had. She said I will miss you too, don t forget to pick me up! She gave him one more hug and her dad hopped into the car, waved and drove off. Lily walked into her assigned dorm and saw her best friend, Kaitlin. After they said their hello s and then Lily looked at the other side of the pale, white room and saw a girl named Lydia. She was scoffing at them as they were done saying hello . Lydia stood up and said, Wow, this will be an easy competition! Then Kaitlin said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. I Am A Soldier And A Good Person The army has taught me so many great things. It taught me how to be a disciplined soldier and a good person. I was inexperienced of life before I joined the army. Therefore, I was overwhelmed of life lessons when I came to basic training. However, I learned the seven army values which were loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage; I experienced every value throughout my training process. They help me to discipline myself to be a good soldier and a good person. The value that I honored most was integrity. I was taught that integrity was doing what s right, legally and morally. However, throughout my training experience, I understand integrity as fearless, to tell the truth, responsible for your own action, and hardworking. Integrity means the courage, to tell the truth. In the beginning of my training process, I was told to study the seven army values by heart. I didn t understand why my drill sergeants made such a big deal about those values. The seven words were easy to remember, and we all knew the meaning of them. However, I changed my mind when I witness Lopez s situation. Lopez ate a Twister bar and left its wrap in the trash can. My drill sergeants found out about it and questioned the whole platoon. Lopez was fear of the punishment, so he didn t admit his wrong action. Lopez was considered having no integrity by the whole platoon. However, Lopez wasn t the only one who was accused of having no integrity; my drill sergeants were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Instruction In Higher... Nowadays, the role of technology in instruction is undeniable. We live in a digital world. No one should go back to 19th century s teaching method. Instruction using technology to deliver coursework in higher education has seen an unquestionable explosion (Scott, 1999). Although the use of technology in higher education is more prevalent, it also shows it s significant in early learning environment and primary school. Technological tools such as internet, digital camera, i pad and interactive whiteboard are used to upgrade the learning outcomes (X. Christine Wang, 2008). Technology based Instruction or more commonly known as e learning, constitutes instruction via electronic technology, such as Internet, webcast, audio and video conferencing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Richard E. Clark stated in his research (Clark, 1994): First, there was no significant difference in test scores between the two groups despite the experimental groups not attending even a single on campus lecture. This was amazing to those associated with the study, all of whom half hoped to validate the significance of the class lecturer to the learning process. This is not to say that Internet based instruction was not heavily impacted by the instructor. It only suggests that role of the instructor changed for the Internet based instruction. Therefore, distance education might not necessary prevails the learning in authentic classroom. There are some downsides for distance learning too. For instance, the virtual and non face to face learning space might makes some students feel lonely and isolated. They could not experience the conviviality of a campus life. Although this problem can be solved by frequent online contact with instructors and taking part in virtual help groups, virtual forums or virtual campus (Fominykh, Prasolova Førland, Morozov, Gerasimov, 2011), there is no credible collaboration among the students. In this point, the theory of Vygotsky which advocated that learning occurs throughout the process of social interaction, is not implemented (Vygotsky, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Tiger Woods What makes golf the phenomenal sport it is today? Is it the game itself? Some say golf started in fifteenth century Scotland by men hitting a pebble with a wooden stick. Currently, graphite drivers routinely send the ball soaring 300 yards. Perhaps it was the golfers who made the game great. Arnold Palmer brought golf to the masses in the 1950 s and Jack Nicklaus has set records that have yet to be broken. However, today sports commentators, pro golfers, and weekend duffers, generally agree the game of golf has been changed forever with the arrival of Tiger Woods. Eldrick Tiger Woods was born on the 30th of December 1975, the only child to biracial parents Earl, a retired lieutenant in the army, and Kultida a stay at home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In short Tiger Wood s made golf cool; he became the Michael Jordan of golf. One result of the huge impact Tiger Woods had on the game of golf was that the amount of prize money rose astronomically. For example three years prior to the Tiger Woods impact a typical tournament purse was about $500,000. Currently the typical purse for a PGA tournament could be in excess of $5 million. Individual annual winnings have increased from Paul Runyan in 1934 ($6,767) to David Duval in 1998 ($2,591,031). There was a significant jump one year later when Tiger earned $6,616,585 in 1999 and finally the phenomenal amount earned for Tiger Woods in 2006 was $9,941,563! It is striking to see from this data how the purse has increased as Tiger Woods became so dominate on the tour. The television ratings increase every time Tiger is on TV. I remember when Mickelson and Chris DiMarco were duking it out in 2004 [during a playoff], my first thought was how strong the ratings would be. They went down, as opposed to up, in every Masters tournament that Woods has won. The ratings and popularity of golf have increased since Tiger won the Masters in 1997. Companies such as Nike, American Express, BMW, and Titleist are willing to contribute more and more money every year for each tournament s purse. The individual golfers also receive exponentially better endorsement deals. Major corporations are willing to spend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Humans have long abandoned the idea of completely colonizing Mars. Instead, they have decided to build outposts in space much like the European explorers in the 16th century, on route to China for trade to protect the motherland s trade route from enemies and refuel ships. About 10 years ago, scientists began building an outpost on Mars a few miles from Gale Crater. Robots are maintaining the facility, but their hands are not quite suited for wiring the base. • 10. Jim Sardonis Reverence Analysis The sculpture that caught my eye the most for this assignment is called Reverence by Jim Sardonis. This piece of artwork is a three dimensional assemblage sculpture. It is made of pieces of granite which is an igneous rock. It was put together piece by piece which required special tools and equipment and also a lot of space to work. It is an in the round sculpture, which means the whole thing cannot be photographed in one photo and there are many different views of it depending on where you are standing. This is a beautiful sculpture that has many meaning to it. It depicts two whales tails as they appear to be diving into a field of grass. The grass represents the ocean. First of all, it puts the viewer in awe of one of the largest animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sardonis made this art to show the world that we, as a whole, have a great effect on the living creatures in this world, no matter how big or how small. We should have much more respect towards animals that live in our oceans. The whales tails in the sculpture are about 12 feet long. I assume they would look very large in person but they are nowhere near the size of a realistic whale s tail. I think seeing the big tails in person would make people realize little things can and should be prevented so we don t destroy the habitats and homes of underwater creatures like these huge whales. Whenever humans let unnatural substances into the water, (example: oil spills) it causes pollution which is leading to the extinction of whales. This sculpture is making people notice the beauty of these humongous whales in hopes of making us more cautious in what we do in our everyday lives to preserve the lives of these mammals. It will be our fault when the species of whales are extinct. Humans continue to pollute oceans everyday by putting our dirty, untreated sewage water straight into the water where these animals live. This is causing the population of whales and other animals in the ocean to die down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For most of my life, spirituality was a very similar elusive quest. I was raised in religion. Catholicism. Its impact may not have meant much at the time but as my life transpired, I realized the great significance of these beginnings. And the more I explore, as we will be doing in this class, I realize I haven t even touched the tip, of the wealth, of information that exists in search of spirituality. But what I have found first and foremost, spirituality is not religion. Although for myself without religion to use as a comparison I might not be where I am now. Being instead of doing . There are different levels of captivity in Shawshank, the large, recreation yard to solitary confinement. The prison is a community outside of the world the prisoners have been removed from. • 16. Immunity in the U.S. Court Essay The right to not incriminate one s self is established within the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution. The Fifth Amendment states, No person...shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself (Davenport, 2006, P. 87). People may plead the fifth as a means of refusing to answer questions about alleged criminal activities. The right to not self incriminate, is a fundamental right meant to protect individuals from being forced into giving evidence that could be used against one s self. This concept against self incrimination extended to forced confessions due to Miranda v. Arizona. In the Miranda case, the Supreme Court decided that police have an obligation to inform a suspect to his rights under Constitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some cases this works in two ways. For example, if a defendant gives testimony about a murder cases and says were they threw the gun, police cannot be asked to search for the weapon to be used as evidence. However, if by chance someone independent by the government finds the weapon and turns it in, the weapon can be used as evidence against the defendant (Davenport, 2006). The other form of Immunity is transactional immunity, which is absolute protection against prosecution for any event or transaction about which a witness is compelled to give testimony or furnish evidence (Neubauer, 2011, p. 466). This form of immunity is said to be the preferred form of immunity by defendants, because the government will be barred from prosecuting the defendant for a crime they were granted immunity (Davenport, 2006). Use immunity grants less protection than transactional immunity in that witnesses may not refuse the government s offer of immunity. In this case, accepting immunity is forced and is not a choice. In the case Kastigar v. United States, the belief was that Charles Joseph Kastigar would use the Fifth Amendment protection against self incrimination. Reversing years of federal opposition, the statute guaranteed the right of employees to organize labor unions, to engage in collective bargaining, and to take part in strikes. This interest is determined by job duties, job similarity, skill levels, work site proximity and no management employees. Once these criteria are met an election occurs to determine if employees want to unionize. The National Labor Relations Board oversees the election to make sure that a true secret vote is secured. • 28. The Three Primary Components Of Metatheory Theory a. Metatheory is a theory about theory and it allows us to understand the philosophy driving our decisions about research methods, designs, and analysis. The three primary components of metatheory are ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Ontology is the study of the nature of reality; ontological scholars have two main stances: realist or nominalist. A realist believes that reality is orderly, fixed, and measureable, while a nominalist believes that reality is subjective. Similar to nominalists are social constructivists, their views of reality are subjective as well. As for epistemology, the study of nature of knowledge; the two opposing stances are objectivist position or subjectivist position. Objectivists believe it is possible to know and explain the world by studying objective reality, as for subjectivists who can only understand the world from the involved individuals; often times leaving bias opinions. Lastly, axiology is the study of values; the values in beauty and aesthetics by judging the good or bad within them. b. Relational Dialectics Theory The ontological assumptions of relational dialectics theory use a nominalist and social constructivist stance because as stated on page 33 of the textbook, Reality is both orderly and chaotic. As a country, we needed relief and recovery from the great depression. Unemployment was through the roof, farmers were struggling to succeed, and our economy was in shambles. He talks on the phone and completely ignores Carol, because she holds little power in the relationship of professor and student. John is enveloped in his own world and pays no attention to Carol. The phone is a symbol of power for John and he uses it to interrupt Carol and belittles her perspective. • 37. Sweatshops In Developing Countries Todays, when the citizenship is concentrated, sweatshop is becoming a striking issue of controversies. Especially in developed countries, this problem is always boycotted, but on the other hand it is an opportunity for people in underdeveloped countries to change their lives. Although sweatshop is considered as a complex issue with underpayment and underworking environment, they are beneficial to change the old ideologies, economic growth, and fair working conditions. Firstly, women choose to work in sweatshops in developing countries because this is their only source step out of unavailable and unthinkable situation. Women in these countries tolerated outdated beliefs, such as being restricted to domestic chores and relying on their husbands. Their lives are always in a vicious circle that they want to escape but do not know the right way, so working in sweatshops provide women not only chance to create stable income, but also sense of their own independence. As the writer mentions that with the small income from garment sweatshop, women in Bangladesh can manage their finances, have their own choice in marriage and having children (Sachs, quoted in Garyfalakis, para5). Moreover, they have chance to go to school and gain their special skills. For example, earning $1 to $2 in Indonesia or Bangladesh sounds unbelievable, but it can help a woman feed her kids and restrict diarrhea disease (Kristof and Wudunn, 2000). Women in these countries also admitted that even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. What Is The Archetypes In To Kill A Mockingbird Literary criticism is an informed written analysis and evaluation of a literature. Also literary theory is a means to understand the various ways people read and connect through texts. In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird (TKAM) by Harper Lee, the story displays archetypal criticisms through using multiple archetypes within the work. This criticism displays how reoccurring symbols, situations, and themes help develop the story. Throughout the novel, the archetypes being the hero, victim, and the tree as a symbol for friendship are used. The hero archetype is reflected numerous times in TKAM. One character who shows heroic traits is Scout when the text states, Jem shrieked and tried to catch me, but I had a lead on him and Dill. I pushed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom Robinson, who was the main victim of the novel, had been defended by Atticus who had said, And so a quiet, respectable, humble negro who had the unmitigated temerity to feel sorry for a white woman has had to put his word against two white people s (Lee 273). Tom came to be a victim because he suffered from the statements that Bob Ewell said and was cheated. Although he is against white people who have their stories wrong and filled of lies, he is the one who loses the case when this should not have been what occurred. As a result of this, it causes him to be sent to prison where he later kills himself. This is due to the fact that this ruined his emotional state which led to the build up to his death. Similarly, Boo is a victim as his image is ruined by people such as Miss Stephanie Crawford whose rumors say, As Mr. Radley passed by, Boo drove the scissors into his parent s leg, pulled them out, wiped them on his pants, and resumed his activities (Lee 13). Boo is a victim because he is deceived. Since not much is known about him, the town of Maycomb spreads rumors, which lead to false impressions about him. Also, he suffers by how he is perceived because this leads for him to not come out and face all of the prejudice within Maycomb. Most importantly he is emotionally hurt because in the beginning of the story Jem and Scout are curious about him and want to see him when he does not want to be with anyone at all. Likewise, Jem is a victim as he was being helped from the encounter with Bob when he was with Scout because it was seen that, Jem s arm was dangling crazily in front of him (Lee 353). As Jem and Scout are coming back, Jem is mainly a victim since he is physically harmed from this event by having his arm broken by Bob Ewell. International Human Resource Management Practices International human resource management (IHRM) is the study and application of all human resource management activities as they impact the process of managing human resources in enterprises in the global environment (Briscoe, Schuler Tarique, 2012). This part is very important in order to make sure that all problems at global level can be solved. Our economies in the last 50 years have become more integrated than before. There are a lot of factors that contributed to the achievement such as multinational enterprise (MNE), small and medium sized enterprises (MSEs), and non governmental organizations (NGOs). Culture is the characteristic way of behaving and believing that a group of people have developed over time and share in common (Briscoe, Schuler Tarique, 2012). Whilst globalization is undoubtedly an important aspect of economic activity, it is less significant in its scale and consequences than some enthusiasts claim (Scholte, 2005). Further, the ways in which the international management coordination of economic activities is developing reflect established patterns of economic globalization and competition at national level, such that these structure any emergent properties of a new transnational business system (Dicken, 2007). So, in this section we are going to explain evidently the scope of country differences more predominantly. We will divide it into two perspectives, which are cultural perspectives and institutional perspectives which developed by Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars. 2.1 Cultural Perspectives by Geert Hofstede Hofstede defines culture as the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another (Rees Edwards, 2011). In particular, Miller (1992) questions the notion of being caught in the middle . One of the primary activities of the value chain model and one of Tesco s core competencies is marketing and sales. Evidence of this is through Tesco s use of information technology as a key resource, with over 40 million customer s worldwide using loyalty card s such as Clubcard (TescoPlc, 2013). Research by Clemons and Row (1991) suggests that although it is unlikely that any single investment in information technology will lead to competitive advantage, what does make a difference is the competency to innovate with IT over a period of time. This shows how Tesco s innovation of the Clubcard has enabled them to differentiate from their competitors, as they have shown the notion of innovation that is not easily replicated. Specifically, Tesco use of information technology has lead to a competitive advantage as it is used to leverage differences in strategic resources. Evidence of this is supported by Rowley (2005), who describes how Tesco s ability to understand their customers effectively, as a source of both differentiation and cost advantages, provides them with a competitive advantage. Rowley states that unlike other companies, Tesco uses data about its customers to provide services for them. This innovative capability allows making correct decisions about which products to supply and the best way to introduce this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Q: is it alright to name an Indian kid Ajmal Amir Kasab? Q: is it okay to name a kid living in America Osama bin Laden? One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often a good thing to do and always a clever thing to say. If we do not learn from the mistakes of history, we are doomed to repeat them. When it comes to the lessons of history there are doubtless many things we could aspire to learn. Some of those would be more practically useful, in terms of contributing to the normal and decent functioning of well meaning societies than others. One lesson of history is that religion has many lives, and a habit of resurrection. How often in the past have God and religion died and been reborn! Atheism ran wild in the India of Buddha s youth, and Buddha himself founded a religion without a god; after his death Buddhism developed a complex theology including gods, saints, and hell. Almost as soon as the grand setting is told, the designation of the story itself, the character Rip Van Winkle, is introduced. He is depicted ideally as well, said to be simple and widely liked, and most importantly good natured. Without hesitation, it is stated that he is a descendant of a family who played a more than respectable role in the history that helped to capture and establish the land that is now his mountainous village. He is recognized as more than the average citizen already, perhaps one of great influence, not unlike the nature itself. He was, moreover, a kind neighbor and an obedient henpecked husband. Indeed, to the latter circumstance might be owing that meekness of spirit which gained him such universal popularity, (Irving 702). Despite this constant distressing of his spouse, made eminent in the opening pages, Rip was able to ignore the chronic squabbling and seek elsewhere for loyal friendships, which in turn, boosted his regard. After some time, however, the nagging became overbearing, and he was forced to flee to the highest peak of the mountains where he would be surrounded by nature, and thus was at ease with himself. However, Irving introduces a twist; the nature of the mountains cast a magical command upon Rip and forced him into a sound sleep for twenty years. When he awoke Rip found himself an old man in a place that was, at first, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Having to live a life of two languages leads to an insecure identity. Rodriguez argues that learning both languages and using them rather than avoiding one, leads to a better sense of identity and freedom. Thus, his intended audience are people who are of higher education, scholars, and educators. Both himself, and the audience have shared values which entail: independent thinking, self knowledge , education, commitment to the affairs of the world , and scholarship and intellect. Rodriguez convinces the audience to seriously consider his claim through effective appeals to ethos and pathos. Ethos is developed in the area of authority by personal anecdotes and in the area of credibility by shared values. Pathos is effectively evoked via experiences he had that make the audience more likely to pause and consider his claim. First, Rodriguez develops ethos in the area of authority, which is the author s ability to demonstrate a command over a subject matter and to offer an informed persona. Although Rodriguez initially struggled with his adjustment into the American society and speaking English, he did not let that limit his capabilities of being a successful in the classroom. Rodriguez s article appeared in The American Scholar magazine at a critical time in the debate over bilingual education models (Robinson 236). The American Scholar magazine ...
