Tecumseh Essay example
Tecumseh ,Shawnee war chief, was born at Old Piqua, on the Mad River in western Ohio. In
1774, his father, Puckeshinwa, was killed at the Battle of Point Pleasant, and in 1779 his mother,
Methoataske, accompanied those Shawnees who migrated to Missouri, later died. Raised by an
older sister, Tecumpease, Tecumseh would play war games with other fellow youths in his tribe.
Tecumseh accompanied an olderbrother, Chiksika, on a series of raids against frontier settlements in
Kentuckyand Tennessee in the late 1780 s. Chiksika had a vision that he would not survive the

Tecumseh slowly transformed his brother s religious following into a political movement. In 1808
Tecumseh and the Prophet moved their village to the juncture of the Tippecanoe and Wabash rivers,
where the new settlement, Prophetstown, continued to attract Indians. After the loss of much
Indian land at the Treaty of Fort Wayne, Tecumseh gradually eclipsed his brother as the primary
leader of the movement. He traveled throughout the Midwest urging tribes to form a political
confederacy to prevent any further erosion of their lands. In November 1811, while Tecumseh was
in the South attempting to recruit the Creeks into his confederacy, U.S. forces marched against
Prophetstown. In the subsequent Battle of the Tippecanoe they defeated the Prophet, burned the
settlement, and destroyed the Indians food supplies. After returning from the South Tecumseh tried
to rebuild his shattered confederacy. But when the War of 1812 broke out, he withdrew to
Michigan where he assisted the British in the capture of Detroit and led pro British Indians in small
actions in southern Michigan and northern Ohio (Fort Meigs). When William Henry Harrison
invaded Upper Canada, Tecumseh reluctantly accompanied the British retreat. He was killed by
American forces at the Battle of the Thames on October 5, 1813. Although they never found the

What Is The Psychological, Social And Cultural Aspects Of...
From the time we are born, we are taught the correct way to act within society. We are taught the
rules of conduct of society and we learn to follow them in order to be socially normal. The second
we are born or even before we are born we are determined a gender. The rest of our life and the way
we are expected to act revolves around that gender. Our gender shapes who we are expected to be
and shapes an image in our parents head of who they want us to be. Gender plays a key role
throughout our life, it is defined as the psychological, social and cultural aspects of masculinity and
femininity(butler sweet,c,2017). Masculinity and femininity have been standardized into their own
stereotypes. For example, masculine is known as aggression, competitive, brave, etc. While
feminine is known as sensitive, weak, nurturing, etc. Because of these traits and these stereotypes
masculinity holds a higher power over femininity. Therefore, when the parents have the child and
they find out what gender they are they automatically uphold them and raise them according to
these standards. This begins to refer to gender socialization which is the process by which we
learn the rules and conduct the behavior of masculinity and femininity (butler sweet,c,2017).
Meaning, that from a young age, we learn the correct way to act within society, including the
correct way to act according to our biological gender. Once our parents know if we are a boy or a
girlthey decorate our room a certain way,

The National Park Is One Of The Most Well Known National...
Yosemite National Park is one of the most well known national parks in the United States. It is
especially famous for its beautifully inspiring scenery. Yosemite expands 748,542 acres and is
located on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada. The elevation of the park ranges from 2,127 to
13,114 feet (Bortman, p. 1546). The closest town is Mariposa with neighboring counties including
Madera and Fresno. Today, 3.5 million people visit Yosemite annually ( History Culture Yosemite
National Park(U.S. National Park Service) ). With the attraction of millions of tourists, the
national park has been designated inalienable for all time. The creation of Yosemite dates back
to the Precambrian era. The region of what is now Yosemite sat between two continents. The
Farallon Plate subducted under the North American Plate and created an arc of volcanoes
during the Devonian and Permian periods (Harris, p. 328). The solidification of magma created
igneous rock during the Triassic period and in through the Jurassic. On the eastern side of
present day Yosemite, the Nevadan mountain range was also forming. The Sierra Nevada
Mountains are constructed of granite (Harris, p. 337). The creation of Yosemite Valley was by
glaciation. The formation of glaciers and the process of being covered by these ice sheets began
approximately 3 million years ago (Harris, p. 339). According to Harris, at least four of these
glaciations have occurred (p. 339). The first glaciation, called the Sherwin, was

Effects Of Sodium Chloride On Thikistrodesmus Algae Growth
Title
Sodium Chloride Acts as Environmental Pollutant by Prohibiting Ankistrodesmus Algae Growth
Introduction
Pollution negatively effects an organism s growth because it introduces harmful chemicals or
products that cause damage to its environment. The environmental pollution experiment that was
performed tested the effects of pollutants, more specifically sodium chloride, on Ankistrodesmus,
which is a species of fresh water algae. The experiment investigated the effects of different
concentrations of sodium chloride to examine if it promoted or suppressed Ankistrodesmus growth.
The importance of this experiment was to determine if sodium chloride could be classified as a
pollutant for this species of algae. Experiments conducted in 1968 show ... Show more content on

Data collected over a period of two weeks indicates that sodium chloride prohibits
Ankistrodesmus growth since optical density measurements of each test tube were recorded in a
table as well as graph (Figures 1 and 2). The data shown in this table and graph show that
although the Ankistrodesmus algae grew slightly at some points, overall it decreased in optical
density, which means sodium chloride prevented its growth. This conclusion can also be drawn
from the average net gain/losses of optical densities table and graph. The data collected indicates
that the Ankistrodesmus grew more in the 50% sodium chloride solution, which was treatment
group 3 (Figure 4). However, this cannot be acknowledged since Day 14 s test tube readings were
taken using another group s setup. Consequently, only readings from Day 0 and Day 7 are accurate
and usable. Even though treatment group 3 s data is unreliable it s only one result and accounting
this group still leaves treatment groups 1 and 2. By comparing treatment groups 1 and 2 to the
control group one can easily conclude that the optical densities of the two treatment groups decrease
(Figures 3 and 4). This indicates that as the concentrations of sodium chloride increases then the
overall growth of algae decreases. Therefore, one can conclude that from the readings sodium
chloride prohibits Ankistrodesmus algae

The Impact Of Overfishing On The Environmental Balance
As far back as the history of man, humans have been dependent on the ocean and water resources
for food and survival. While hundreds of years of single handed fishing rods in coastal and
inland water channels have not alone been the root cause of overfishing, these common
practices today still impact the environmental balance. Ocean overfishing is the removal or
taking of wildlife from the oceans and seas at rates too high for fished species to replace
themselves and is a threat that exists to our way of life. Overfishing can occur by commercial
fishing, single person excessive fishing in a particular area of a body of water, or by other natural
predatory activity. A recent report by scientists said that if commercial fishspecies the fish caught
for food continue to decline at the current rate, by the year 2048 most commercial fish species
will be in danger of never recovering because of the break in the natural ecosystem which would
affect the diversity of wildlife in the ocean (Kurlansky, 2011). As a humanspecies, we are
responsible for educating each other on this worldwide concern to help save our planet. If this isn t
a reason to begin efforts of worldwide education on overfishing, what is? The impact of overfishing
has long term consequences on the human race and the animal population as it threatens our
biological balance and our ecosystem. The good news is that there are currently organizations,
governments and entities working hard to make a

Greek Burial
Burials are one of the most used archaeological sites for scholars to gain insight and information on
all civilizations, and in this case Greek civilizations. In his book Ethnic Identity, Stuart Hall makes a
strong argument illustrating that social structures may be articulated and projected through
funerary ritual and this may be undeniable (). Greek burialcustoms depict a parallel with society and
their standards of living throughout time; focusing on the Bronze Age and into the Classical Period,
the changing society of Ancient Greek shows the development of these burials.
Beginning with Bronze Age Greece, Heinrich Schliemann found and excavated one of the two most
popular shaft graves from the period. In Mycenae Heinrich Schliemann found ... Show more content

Planning Consultants Of Somersworth, New Hampshire
According to the planning consultants of Somersworth, New Hampshire (2010) a new Master Plan
has been revised for a vision into 2020 due to significant investment in both the private and public
sector. Somersworth is currently undergoing significant change since 2000 and these modifications
to the city allow for several social and economic opportunities in the area. Development and
redevelopment that has occurred since 2000 has been the relocation of both CityHall and the Police
Department, the renovation of an old mill building into residential units and small business offices,
an expansion of retail development and medical offices, constructing a connector road from High
Street to Route 108, establishing business parks, developing a golf course and a recreational
facility, upgrading the wastewater treatment facilities, and lastly, dedicating land acquisition to
conservation purposes (Master Plan Update, 2010).
The basis of this paper is to layout improvements that can be made to the Master Plan of
Somersworth, as well as provide improvements for the community. One of the most prominent
assets to the Master Plan was appointing a committee for the 2020 Vision in hopes to create a
positive future. Some of the goals the committee is striving to accomplish are as follows: an
ability to take a strategic goal and turn it into a practical plan, an incorporation of a revitalization
plan, an evaluation of new ways for economic growth, enabling a conservation plan for a sustainable

Traditions In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
In Shirley Jackson s short story The Lottery there are many examples of traditions. For example,
the town s lottery starts in late June and most of the townspeople start gathering around 10 o
clock by the post office and bank. During the gathering, the children come first, the men follow,
and the women come last. The black box that is used is also a huge tradition according to this
town. When the men s names were called they were to go up to the black box and draw out a piece
of paper. After everyone had their piece of paper, they were to look at it and whoever had the piece
of paper that had pencil scribbles on it won the lottery. Unfortunately, when you won the lottery
you were stoned to death. Based on Shirley Jacksons story The Lottery

Dreams Are From The Book Your Soul Is Writing About You
Dreams are illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you Marsha Norman The
Interpretation of Dreams was published by Sigmund Freud in the year 1900 as a thought
provoking compilation of ideas surrounding the cognitive processes of dreaming. Although it has
been translated and edited since its original publishing date, it reads as if to hold true to Freudian
fashion; addressing levels of consciousness and their effects on how specific dreams are formed.
Freud makes a clear and reverent effort to acknowledge others theories, as well as his own, in an
attempt to explain the unexplainable. His focus throughout the text is to hypothesize on how
regression, resistance, and censorship all play a delicate role in the remembrance and
interpretation of ones dreams. It is Freud s skillful application of resistance and censorship that
grants further contemplation of why dreams are so soon to fade and be forgotten upon awakening.
It is also this application that guides the reader into how these two processes may require one to use
free association to interpret such dreams. Resistance and censorship are explained by Freud as a
cognitive process that happens due to the separation of waking and sleeping states. He presents the
idea that while one sleeps, the cognitive censorship used throughout waking hours is significantly
reduced, making dreams possible. However, immediately present upon awakening is mental
resistance, resulting in the forgetting or fragmenting of

may have as spending in the US and UK declines.
Threats
*Downturn in American spending.
As interest rates rise and the housing boom ends, Americans are predicted to rely less on
consumer credit and more on their saving skills to get by. The drop in American spending will be
bad for the global economy as a whole, and HSBC will certainly be affected. In
2005, HSBC pretax profits rose 5% to $10.64bn ( 6bn) for the first six months of the year, largely
on the rise in consumer finance for growing consumer spending.
*Employees striking.
Last year, British employees held a strike involving 1,500 workers at
HSBC branches in London. At its annual meeting, striking workers stood outside, handing out bags
of nuts and saying that they are paid
peanuts while HSBC experiences record profits. Strikes such as this, especially in union conscious
Europe, are bad for image reasons and HSBC needs to take action to ensure that its workers are
happy just as its customers are.
*Email viruses.
Last year, HSBC Group s CEO announced that HSBC received tens of thousands of email viruses
a day and must spend great amounts of money to prevent these from causing systemwide damage.

purpose of the text is to persuade people to donate money to a charity which supports orphaned
girls in China because Adeline is Chinese. Alternatively, it was written to educate those unaware of
mass amounts of abandoned girls in China. The text is inspired primarily by Adeline Yen Mahs

Deer hunting might be known as a sport, but what people don t know is that deer hunting is

secrets (Dan 2:46, 47). He then interpreted a second dream of Nebuchadnezzar, (Dan 4:8 27)
about a great tree, which was a sign of the king becoming insane. The fulfillment of this dream is
what converted the king to worship God. He was called upon to explain the handwriting on the

Effects Of Adolescence Female Cannabinoid Exposure On Male...
The topic of this article is the effects of adolescence female cannabinoid exposure on male
offspring s response to opiates. The particular study is important because marijuana is one of the
most abused drugs among females. Since women have babies it is important to understand any
potential health risk of the cannabinoid exposure on their offspring. Previous studies have shown
increased risks of anxiety and depression, as well as decreased motivation and reading
comprehension skills (Brynes, 2012, p 1348). The current study looks at whether exposure during
adolescence will affect future offspring. Therefore one does not want to alter fetal development,
even if the mother is not using during pregnancy. The purpose of the current study was... Show

Researchers used twenty three year old female Sprague Dawley rats in this experiment. The rats
were kept in standard laboratory cages on a light dark cycle in a temperature controlled room.
The rats were given seven day to adjust to their new homes before beginning the experiment.
When sixteen of the female rats reached thirty days of age they were administered injections of
CB1 and CB2. These female rats were the WIN F1 group. Each day injection dosage increased. The
first day was a 1kg, second day 2kg, third day 4kg. The female rats were weighed daily. The
control group, VEH F1, consisted of sixteen female rats that were administered saline. At 60 days
of ages the female rats were mated with colony male rats. On postnatal day 21 male offspring
were housed until test began. Only one offspring per litter was used. When the male offspring
became 40 or 60 days old they were tested for CPP responses to morphine or saline. Rats were
tested in three chambers, which had infrared to track the rat. During preconditioning, day 1, rats
were placed in the middle chamber but allowed to go to any of the three chambers. Researchers
recorded the amount of time spent in each chamber during 15 minutes. Day 2 morning, the rats
were weighed, given saline, and placed in chamber A for 30 minutes. Five hours later rats were
administered either saline or morphine and placed in camber B for 30 minutes. Conditioning
repeated for 3 days. On the fifth day rats were placed in the middle

The Primordial Soup Hypothesis
All of these hypotheses are similar and different in many ways. They were all similar in the way
that they revealed many possible ways of how the world started. They were all different, because
they were all different theories of how biomolecules came to be. As technology continues to
evolve along with the world many new ideas of how biomolecules came to be are sure to come up.
This helps increase out knowledge of the world and how it came to be.
The first of the biomolecule hypotheses was the Primordial Soup Hypothesis. The theory of the
Primordial Soup Hypothesis was that, life began in a body of water due to a mix of chemicals in
the atmosphere and a type of energy from amino acids. The scientists ... Show more content on

In 1977, scientists found biological life forms surviving around the sea floor. This suggested the
possibility that the vents provided biological life with the things they needed in order to survive.
They that suggested methanethiol (sulfur containing carbon compound) was the starter dough from
which all life emerged. The first people to test this hypothesis was geochemists, Eoghan Reeves,
Jeff Seewald, and Jill McDermott. They went to the hydrothermal vent sites, there they predicted
that they would find abundant methanethiol, their results had surprised them. Reeves said that their
claim from before was false, What we essentially found in our survey is that we don t think
methanethiol is forming by purely chemical means without the involvement of life. However, the
scientists still believe that hydrothermal vents are a great environment for new life to emerge.
The fourth of the biomolecule hypotheses was the RNA World Hypothesis. The RNA World
Hypothesis was proposed by Francis Crick in 1967. The hypothesis was that life begins with self
replicating RNA molecules. According to Crick s hypothesis genetic information is stored by RNA
and the RNA catalyzed the chemical reactions in primitive cells. However, later in time DNAtook
over as genetic material and proteins became the structural components of cells. RNA still
catalyzes several reactions in modern day cells, which can be viewed as molecular fossils of an

Economic Thought Is The Most Confusing Chapter By Modern...
One of the most complicated concepts throughout the history of economic thought is the idea of
the measure of value. Therefore, it is no surprise Adam Smith s An Inquiry into the Nature and
Causes of the Wealth of Nations Chapter five, entitled Of the real and nominal Price of
Commodities, or of their Price in Labour, and their Price in Money, is considered the most
confusing chapter by modern economist. Smith attempts to explain the measureof valueand the
mechanisms, by which that value fluctuates. Value, as defined by Smith, has two different
meanings, and sometimes, expresses the utility of some particular object, and sometimes the
power of purchasing other goods which the possession of that object conveys. He further
clarifies these values as value in use and value in exchange, defined as the value an individual
receives from the use of a good and the value an individual would pay for or would be willing to
sell a good for, respectively. The chapter consist of three main goals, Smith endeavored to show
what is the real measure of this exchangeable value, what are the real parts of which this real price
is composed, and what are the different circumstances which sometimes raise some or all of these
different parts of price above, and sometimes sink them below their natural or ordinary rate.
Showing the real measure of an exchangeable value quickly proves difficult. Smith is content to
conclude, Labour, therefore, is the real measure of the

Essay about A Sociological Study of Timothy Mcveigh

A Sociological Study of Deviance: Oklahoma City Bombing
The Oklahoma City Bombing was a very special event in American history, it was the biggest act
of domestic terrorism until 9/11. The Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which was an office
complex in Oklahoma City, was bombed and 168 people were killed. Timothy McVeigh
, the subject
of my paper, was behind the bombings, and later executed.
On April 15, 1995 Timothy McVeigh rented a Ryder truck in Herington, Kansas under the alias
Robert D. Kling. On April 16, he drove to Oklahoma City with fellow conspirator Terry Nichols
where he parked a getaway vehicle several blocks away from the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building

He wanted to get vengeance for the FBI/ATF s firebombing of a ranch in Waco, Texas, that killed
79 civilians.
WHY DID TIMOTHY MCVEIGH DO THIS?
Timothy Mcveigh s personality can be explained sociologically as being both ritualism and
rebellion. Timothy McVeigh was part of what can be seen as the pinnacle of conformism during
the years before the bombing, the military. McVeigh, by all accounts, was a soldier who won
praise by taking orders very well and following all the rules, his medals won during the Gulf War
prove this. However, like many other people who join the military (gang members, racial
nationalists, survivalists) Timothy McVeigh had perhaps not so patriotic motives for joining.
Nowadays people join the military for reasons other than because they believe in a countries
value system, people like McVeigh join for the military training and knowledge of things like
explosives, survival, discipline, etc. They in a way use the system against itself. At face value
Timothy McVeigh did follow the means towards achieving societies goals, but he wanted nothing
to do with the ends. He saw himself as a freedom fighter whose destiny was to overthrow the US
Government.
McVeigh, before joining the military, already had a long history in the survivalist movement. The
Survivalist movement is well known by the federal government for its anti government activities
and beliefs, McVeigh shared these beliefs and was set off after the

Analysis of Common Foods
Nutter Butter Niacin Niacin is found in its natural form in fish, peanuts, yeast, and grains. In the
milling process of grains, it is usually removed. The government s action of trying to reduce
niacin deficiency has led to the fortification of niacin in food. Fortification is an attempt to
replenish the niacin lost in food processing. Niacin helps the energy from food reach the cells in
the body. It s important to the health of the live and production of hormones. Partially
Hydrogenated cottonseed oil Partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil is oil that has been pressed
from the kernel of the cotton seed. The oil then goes through the process of adding more
hydrogen to the oil. Adding more hydrogen makes the oil have a higher boiling point and also
helps to increase the shelf life of the oil. It is used for mayonnaise, salad dressing, shortening,
and margarine for its neutral flavor and flavor stability. The oil is very high in saturated fat. Soy
lecithin Soy lecithin is a natural stabilizer for emulsifying fats in processed foods. It is known to
create a creamy texture in wet and dry blends and in dressings by solidifying the margarine or fat
in the food. Lecithin is a group of yellow brown fatty acids that come from plant and animals
sources, which contains many important nutrients. Its fat properties are why it is used in various
processed foods. Vanillin Vanillin is a natural part of vanilla and is the major component that makes

Kierkegaard Subjectivity
The truth of subjectivity was a reference to Christianity for Kierkegaard. His argument was that the
only way that you can understand and know the truth about Christianity is from a personal
subjective standpoint and not by objective analysis. He admits that it is ineffective to find the truth
about Christianitythrough historical analysis because no matter how many times you try to look at
it objectively, the result will only be an educated guess and not the ultimate truth.
By reading more on Kierkegaard, you also learn his perspective on moral values in relationship to
God. He argued that, instead of morality being created by God, it is a divine command from God
which transcends ethics. This distinction means that God does not necessarily create human
morality, but it is up to us as individuals to create our own morals and values. Kierkegaard also

according to Kierkegaard. This type of individual has a passive relation to the divine (rituals which

now are trying to find their identities towards faith, but are ultimately moving away from it. He
argues that people who devote their time to faith in the external (ex. Only going to church on

that there is the authentic individual. This is a person, like Abraham, who devotes their absolute

morals, rather, accepts them for what they are (the knight of faith believes what they believe

Fuel price increases have a negative impact on airlines because even in good time fuel costs
account for roughly 10 12% of our operating expense. Every penny increase in the price of jet
fuel costs the airline industry $180 million a year. In the absence of pricing power the ability to
pass these costs along in the form of higher airfares these increases come right off the bottom line.
An even more hurtful aspect of the fuel price increase is the relationship between the economy and
air travel. The link between fuel prices and the health of the economy is clear. Three of the major
recessions of the past thirty years can, in large measure, be attributed to the steep increases in
fuel prices that accompanied the 1973 Middle East oil embargo, the 1980 Iran Crisis, and
the1990 91 Gulf War. The airline industry is undeniably tied to the overall economy even minor
recessions result in reduced demand and increased sensitivity to prices for leisure as well as
business travelers. Past fuel spikes and attendant recessions have brought about widespread
hardship in the airline industry. As analysis shows, airline profitability suffers as a direct

The, The Beautiful Mexican Maid
During the mid 1800s, many Anglo Saxon Americans, including author Ned Buntline, were against
U.S. expansionism and the concept of Manifest Destiny. Subsequently, they were also against the
U.S. invasion of Mexico in 1846. Due to their nativism, they were worried about the incorporation
of the natives in the conquered territories into America. Buntline used his novel Magdalena, The
Beautiful Mexican Maid: A Story of Buena Vista, to express his fears and to convince his readers
that incorporating native Mexicans into the union might seem like a good idea at first, but would
ultimately be an unwise decision for the country. Manifest destiny was the widely held belief that
America was destined to expand the entire continent. Once the country touched the Atlantic and
the Pacific, Americans started looking overseas for territory to expand to. This expansion took
the form of American intervention in other countries in order to bring democracy, but in reality
this expansion was for America s own gain. In 1898, Spain declared war on America due to
America s intervention in Cuba s war for independence. The war was not only fought in the
Caribbean, but also in the Pacific, which led America to be involved in the Philippine Revolution
and in turn the Philippine American War. After America won the war, it gained several new island
territories around the world, which led people to believe that the war was fought due to America s
interest in the territories and not due to the fact that

Literary Devices Of Scene In Faking It By Michael Chabon
Most authors who implement the literary device of scene in their writing do so to establish an
entry point to the universal subject they are trying to portray. In literature, scene is an experience or
moment that the author explains in great detail through various devices in order to perceive that
time is slowed. In Faking It, Michael Chabondoes exactly this, utilizing a scene to introduce the
main point of his chapter. In my essay, ________ , I made a conscience effort to mimic this literary
device; however, failed to properly utilize it as an entry point. At the forefront of Faking It ,
Michael Chabon paints a descriptive scene in which he was attempting to install a towel rack in
the bathroom. To start the chapter, Chabon dictated that the only reason he was granted this
chore was because he knew, kind of, how to use an electric drill. He then provided a descriptive
image of his efforts, explaining how he read the instruction while sagely stroking [his]
whiskers...[looking] as if [he] knew what [he] was doing and then proceeded to [drop] one of the
metal towel bars onto [his] right thumb . Chabon continually comments and hints at his
inexperience and that he was forced to sustain the appearance of competence . This passage is a
perfectly crafted depiction of a scene: Chabon utilized both imagery and diction to illustrate a man
who was unaware of how to install a towel rack, yet felt compelled and pressured into assuming the

Analysis Of An American Childhood By Annie Dillard
Analyzing a Writing Essay
The author of An American Childhood, Annie Dillard, shows a great amount of admiration towards
her mother s personal qualities. Dillard looks up to the intelligence, energy, fascination, and
confidence her mother conveys. Admiration does not always include imitation, but shows some
kind of interest. Growing up alongside her mother formed her into the person she has become.
The main quality I believe Annie Dillard admires about her mother is her intelligence. Most of the
anecdotes written throughout the story were expressing her mother s intelligence through her
quirks. Dillard s mother brought up reminders of P.T. Barnum s dictum which was, You can sell
anything to anybody if you marketed it right. She was also a big believer in own ideas versus
using opinions or ideas from others. Towards the end of page 357, Always I heard Mother s

Feudalism And The Code Of Chivalry
The act of Feudalism and The Code of Chivalry both arose sometime during the medieval time

This meant the King would reward those who were loyal to him and fought during battle with land.
Life lived under the Medieval Feudal System, or Feudalism, demanded that everyone owed
allegiance to the King and their immediate superior ( Feudalism ). This lead to the creation of The

The Development of Japanese Manga and Anime Essay
The Development of Japanese Manga and Anime Manga is a Japanese word that is generally
used to refer to comics or cartoons while Anime is a term used to refer to animation, also
originating from Japan. The origin of manga can be traced to the 18th century. The word was
used for the first time in 1798 in Japan to describe Shiji no yukikai, a picture book. The term
resurfaced again in 1814 when it was used as the title of books written by Akinwai Minwa;
Hokusai Mangaand Manga Hyakujo. These books contained drawings that had been made by
Hokusai, a famous Japanese woodlock print artist. The above facts dispel and clarify the
popularised myth that manga was invented by Hokusai (McCloud 79). Schodta (152) explains that
one millennium prior... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, some people deny that kibyoshi is a direct ancestor of modern Japanese manga. However,
it became extinct by mid 19th century.
The development of modern Japanese manga became more pronounced around the mid 20th
century, and many art critics state that this is the actual period of the development of modern
Japanese manga. Wood (1) explains that in the period 1945 1952, the US occupied Japan. During
this time, there was an explosion of artistic creativity and the US troops introduced to Japan
American cartoons and comics like Mickey Mouse, Bambi and Betty Boop. These inspired the
Japanese artists to come up with their own style of comics.
Osamu Tezuka, a Japanese cartoonist invented the large distinctive eyes that are prominent in
both anime and manga. For this reason, Tezuka is also referred to as the Godfather of anime and
the God of manga. Tezuka s popular works called Mighty Atom which was produced as a series
called Astro Boy became the first Japanese TV series to embody the aesthetic characteristic that
came to be known as anime worldwide. The TV series Astro Boy was broadcast in Japan for the
first time in 1963(Schodtb 109).
According to Schodtb (111), Tezuka s manga was quite different from other manga producers that
came before him. For example, most prior manga were produced in the style of a stage play and
from a two dimensional perspective. In addition, interactions of

A Report On The Emergency Department
S (situation): Hi, my name Kelsey and I am a nurse in the emergency department. I am calling about
Shannon O Reilly s most recent laboratory results.
B (background): Ms. O Reilly is 24 years old who came to the emergency in a DKA crisis earlier
this morning and has been DM1 since she was 3 years old.
A (assessment): Ms. O Reilly s vital signs are temperature of 37.5 C, pulse of 112, blood pressure
of 102/52, and respirations of 24. Her respirations are still deep but have a regular rhythm. She has
a CBS of 8.1 and regular insulin running as per orders. The lab work shows uncompensated
metabolic acidosis with no hypoxia. Ms. O Reilly s neurological status has improved with a GSC
of 13. Her dehydration is being treated with NS containing 40mEQ KCL/L running at 200ml/hr and
potassium levels maintained at 4.
R (recommendation): Do you want to continue with the current care plan continued with frequent
CBS and potassium monitoring?
Describe your rationale for the recommendations made. Shannon s glucose levels are still high
(above 6.1 mmol/L) thus still needs the insulin drip (Robbins et al., 2010). Administration of insulin
and efforts made to correct metabolic acidosis forces potassium into the cells causing hypokalemia
(Bopp, 2010). Thus, even though the potassium is within therapeutic levels (3.5 5 mmol/L) there is
a high chance that Shannon may experience hypokalemia and the administration of NS with
potassium is necessary (Bopp, 2010).

Cultural Values Of The Ojibwa Culture
The Ojibwa or known as the Chippewa in European are people of northeastern North America. The
term Ojibwa is said to mean the puckered moccasin people or they say the French said the word
meant pictograph. The Chippewa Indians mainly lived in the Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota
and Michigan. There was 35,000 Ojibwaon the continent in the mid seventeenth century. They
used the word Anishinabeg to describes themselves which means original people. The Ojibwa
has its own cultural values like honesty, generosity, endurance, wisdom, and strength of character.
All these values have been instilled through education and religious practice. The tribe has had
ties with the French and even helped the French fight against the British in the French and
Indian war. The French traders would even wed Chippewa women. The family was of great
importance to the Ojibwa tribes. Each person in the Ojibwa family has its own role to ensure that
things are done correctly. In the Ojibwa community, the roles between males and females were
seen as complementary. The males would do the hunting and go to war if needed. The men would
also be the ones that do trading and negotiation with the Europeans after the first contact. They
usually hold leadership positions. Even though the society was usually not as organized, there
was still need for leaders. People would gain rank as great warriors, religious leaders, and civil
leaders. The most respected in the towns would be the shaman because of his

Rhetorical Analysis On The Perils Of Indifference
He was finally free, but there was no joy in his heart. He thought there never would be again .
This quote stated by Elie Wiesel from his speech, The Perils of Indifference , refers to the day
Elie Wiesel got liberated from the Holocaust when he was young. The Holocaust was just one of
the many horrific tragedies that occurred during that century. In hopes of changing the future for
the better, Wiesel decides to deliver a speech about helping the victims of injustice. He gives this
speech intended for the President, Mrs. Clinton, members of Congress, Ambassador Holbrooke,
Excellencies, and friends hoping that they will make positive changes for the future. By using
rhetorical strategies such as anaphora, rhetorical questions, and ethos, Wiesel tries to help the
victims of injustice and prevent future tragedies from happening. Throughout Wiesel s speech, he
used a copious amount of anaphora. Wiesel used this technique to help get his point across to the
audience. He explains how easy it is to use indifference; consequently, people are taking
opportunities from others. Wiesel explains, our work, our dreams, our hopes (Wiesel 1 2), to show
the audience what indifference is effecting in their lives. By repeating the word our before each
subject that is being affected, he is showing the audience that the victims being affected have their
own opportunity for work, dreams, and hopes. By others being indifferent, the victims may not
have those opportunities anymore.

Voter Turnout Research Paper
Elections are an important part of creating a legitimate state. They allow us to have a say in how
decisions are made in a government. However, the voter turnout for an election does not have an
effect on the type of regime that will develop in a state. It does not matter if the election is in an
authoritarian government or a democratic one, the regime does not have a large impact on the
turnout of voters. What matters in voter turnoutis whether the citizens believe in the regime. If they
feel that the state is legitimate then they are more likely to vote. Also, if the voters believe that
their vote counts and is not a wasted vote then you are more likely to have a larger voter turnout.
For example, the International Institute for Democracy

The, Pastel Blues, By Nina Simone
Nina Simone s 8th studio album, Pastel Blues, is an album featuring a fusion of sistering genres:
blues, jazz, soul, folk, and gospel. Nina, being the brilliant arranger she was, is known for her
ability to blend these genres into her signature sound. A sound most struggle to classify due to its
avant garde nature. She got her start in music by playing the pianoin church. One evening her
church had a recital where her talents were recognised. Which lead to her starting piano lessons.
Nina and her teacher s goal was for her to become the first black classical pianist. However after
being rejected from school for being black, her dream died and she had to pick up jobs at clubs
playing piano and later singing. From there she never stopped singing. As her fame grew in pop
music she became more depressed. Later in her life she discovered she was riddled with mental
illness. Manic depression being one of these illness.
Nina Simone was a troubled woman but she was a gifted one. Simone was often looked at as
difficult while others would say she was just extremely honest. She was a very controversial
character in history along being a strong political figure. She was one of the well known civil
rights activist along Lorraine Hansberry, Dr. King, and Malcolm X. She made it known that she
was not non violent. When she met Dr. King for the first time, she walked up to him and said I m
not non violent! He replied, kind of ticked, saying That s okay sister. You don t have to be!

Comparing and Contrasting the Views of Christianity,...
When it comes to theism and the wold iew, one of the main questions that is asked by all is, if
there is a God or a devine spirit and if so what he or she like? Out of the three main religions of
the world Christianity, Islam, and Judaism all have different views on who God really is or isn t.
So when comparing each of the worlds three main religions, it is best to start with looking at how
each of these religions are similar before we focus on how different that they are.
What each of the 3 main religions all have in common 1st of all are that all 3 of these religions
hold to the idea that the God is male in nature, that God should be honored and respected as God

Muslims for the most part believe that Islam brings together all religions in that all prophets are
honored as messengers from the one true God, Allah. Islam in general considers itself to be a
universal religion at its purest form. Allah is even seen as the all knowing creator of all things
wordly and devine. Allahs creation is governed by devine set laws and that peace can only be
found through the knowledge of and obeyence of these laws. Muslims believe that there needs to
be complete surrender to Allah to prove their true belief. In Islam, all humans will be resurrected for
a final judgement of their deeds and heaven awaits the faithful and hell awaits the infidel which are
the unfaithful.
In Judaism and keeping Gods law. In the terms of differences let s focus on the God of Judaism

which I am commanding you today, shall be in your heart. You shall teach them to your sons and
shall talk of them when you sit in your home and when you walk by the way and when you lay
down and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign in your hand and they shall be as frontals
on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your home and on your gates. Within

Social Constructs And Its Effect On Society
From the beginning of recorded history, especially in nature, some form of racism and sexism
have existed. They may have no be referred by these terms but evidence exists in many forms.
Birth determinants like the sex (male/female) and gender (masculine/feminine) of a person are
used to determine the individual s appearance and behavior in a specific time and place. These
social constructs are ideologies that hold meaning to a concrete society because the society itself
renders them meaningful; they do not necessarily exist but are enforced upon the masses
disguised as a necessary norm. It serves a purpose; to solidify an idea that serves as a norm.

Unfair treatment of human beings is a crime against humanity because every person should have
the right to dress, talk, live, peruse what feels right for them and not being limited to what the
society propels as being the right thing to do. People fail to realize that there are being violated,
and unconsciously accept the violation as a norm. Two of the most notorious social constructs are
racial and sexual classification of human beings. People are treated with the utmost disrespect, are
ostracized and denied basic human rights/life chances such as education, housing, health care based
on their race, gender and sexual orientation. Karl Marx, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Michel
Foucault, Erving Goffman conjure up theories that sheds light on the fact that racial and sexual
classifications are social constructs set in place to ensure that the elite gets the power they desire.
The elite, a select group that holds superiority over others use social constructs as way to control
the masses and gain more power. They do so by relying on people s sense of knowledge and truth.
According to Foucault, a French philosopher and a social theorist, knowledge is power Foucault
uses the term power/knowledge to demonstrate the fact that power is built through acceptance of
some sort of knowledge, scientific understanding and truth (Foucault 1998). Eeach society has their
own sets of truths which they abide by; acceptance of that truth makes it powerful. The one who has

  • 3. Tecumseh Essay example Tecumseh ,Shawnee war chief, was born at Old Piqua, on the Mad River in western Ohio. In 1774, his father, Puckeshinwa, was killed at the Battle of Point Pleasant, and in 1779 his mother, Methoataske, accompanied those Shawnees who migrated to Missouri, later died. Raised by an older sister, Tecumpease, Tecumseh would play war games with other fellow youths in his tribe. Tecumseh accompanied an olderbrother, Chiksika, on a series of raids against frontier settlements in Kentuckyand Tennessee in the late 1780 s. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tecumseh slowly transformed his brother s religious following into a political movement. In 1808 Tecumseh and the Prophet moved their village to the juncture of the Tippecanoe and Wabash rivers, where the new settlement, Prophetstown, continued to attract Indians. After the loss of much Indian land at the Treaty of Fort Wayne, Tecumseh gradually eclipsed his brother as the primary leader of the movement. He traveled throughout the Midwest urging tribes to form a political confederacy to prevent any further erosion of their lands. In November 1811, while Tecumseh was in the South attempting to recruit the Creeks into his confederacy, U.S. forces marched against Prophetstown. In the subsequent Battle of the Tippecanoe they defeated the Prophet, burned the settlement, and destroyed the Indians food supplies. After returning from the South Tecumseh tried to rebuild his shattered confederacy. But when the War of 1812 broke out, he withdrew to Michigan where he assisted the British in the capture of Detroit and led pro British Indians in small actions in southern Michigan and northern Ohio (Fort Meigs). When William Henry Harrison invaded Upper Canada, Tecumseh reluctantly accompanied the British retreat. He was killed by American forces at the Battle of the Thames on October 5, 1813. • 4. What Is The Psychological, Social And Cultural Aspects Of... From the time we are born, we are taught the correct way to act within society. We are taught the rules of conduct of society and we learn to follow them in order to be socially normal. The second we are born or even before we are born we are determined a gender. The rest of our life and the way we are expected to act revolves around that gender. Our gender shapes who we are expected to be and shapes an image in our parents head of who they want us to be. Gender plays a key role throughout our life, it is defined as the psychological, social and cultural aspects of masculinity and femininity(butler sweet,c,2017). Masculinity and femininity have been standardized into their own stereotypes. For example, masculine is known as aggression, competitive, brave, etc. While feminine is known as sensitive, weak, nurturing, etc. Because of these traits and these stereotypes masculinity holds a higher power over femininity. Therefore, when the parents have the child and they find out what gender they are they automatically uphold them and raise them according to these standards. This begins to refer to gender socialization which is the process by which we learn the rules and conduct the behavior of masculinity and femininity (butler sweet,c,2017). Meaning, that from a young age, we learn the correct way to act within society, including the correct way to act according to our biological gender. With the attraction of millions of tourists, the national park has been designated inalienable for all time. The creation of Yosemite dates back to the Precambrian era. The region of what is now Yosemite sat between two continents. The Farallon Plate subducted under the North American Plate and created an arc of volcanoes during the Devonian and Permian periods (Harris, p. 328). The solidification of magma created igneous rock during the Triassic period and in through the Jurassic. On the eastern side of present day Yosemite, the Nevadan mountain range was also forming. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are constructed of granite (Harris, p. 337). The creation of Yosemite Valley was by glaciation. The formation of glaciers and the process of being covered by these ice sheets began approximately 3 million years ago (Harris, p. 339). • 7. Effects Of Sodium Chloride On Thikistrodesmus Algae Growth Title Sodium Chloride Acts as Environmental Pollutant by Prohibiting Ankistrodesmus Algae Growth Introduction Pollution negatively effects an organism s growth because it introduces harmful chemicals or products that cause damage to its environment. The environmental pollution experiment that was performed tested the effects of pollutants, more specifically sodium chloride, on Ankistrodesmus, which is a species of fresh water algae. The experiment investigated the effects of different concentrations of sodium chloride to examine if it promoted or suppressed Ankistrodesmus growth. The importance of this experiment was to determine if sodium chloride could be classified as a pollutant for this species of algae. Experiments conducted in 1968 show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Data collected over a period of two weeks indicates that sodium chloride prohibits Ankistrodesmus growth since optical density measurements of each test tube were recorded in a table as well as graph (Figures 1 and 2). The data shown in this table and graph show that although the Ankistrodesmus algae grew slightly at some points, overall it decreased in optical density, which means sodium chloride prevented its growth. This conclusion can also be drawn from the average net gain/losses of optical densities table and graph. The data collected indicates that the Ankistrodesmus grew more in the 50% sodium chloride solution, which was treatment group 3 (Figure 4). However, this cannot be acknowledged since Day 14 s test tube readings were taken using another group s setup. Consequently, only readings from Day 0 and Day 7 are accurate and usable. Even though treatment group 3 s data is unreliable it s only one result and accounting this group still leaves treatment groups 1 and 2. By comparing treatment groups 1 and 2 to the control group one can easily conclude that the optical densities of the two treatment groups decrease (Figures 3 and 4). This indicates that as the concentrations of sodium chloride increases then the overall growth of algae decreases. Therefore, one can conclude that from the readings sodium chloride prohibits Ankistrodesmus algae ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Impact Of Overfishing On The Environmental Balance As far back as the history of man, humans have been dependent on the ocean and water resources for food and survival. While hundreds of years of single handed fishing rods in coastal and inland water channels have not alone been the root cause of overfishing, these common practices today still impact the environmental balance. Ocean overfishing is the removal or taking of wildlife from the oceans and seas at rates too high for fished species to replace themselves and is a threat that exists to our way of life. Overfishing can occur by commercial fishing, single person excessive fishing in a particular area of a body of water, or by other natural predatory activity. A recent report by scientists said that if commercial fishspecies the fish caught for food continue to decline at the current rate, by the year 2048 most commercial fish species will be in danger of never recovering because of the break in the natural ecosystem which would affect the diversity of wildlife in the ocean (Kurlansky, 2011). As a humanspecies, we are responsible for educating each other on this worldwide concern to help save our planet. If this isn t a reason to begin efforts of worldwide education on overfishing, what is? The impact of overfishing has long term consequences on the human race and the animal population as it threatens our biological balance and our ecosystem. The good news is that there are currently organizations, governments and entities working hard to make a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In his book Ethnic Identity, Stuart Hall makes a strong argument illustrating that social structures may be articulated and projected through funerary ritual and this may be undeniable (). Greek burialcustoms depict a parallel with society and their standards of living throughout time; focusing on the Bronze Age and into the Classical Period, the changing society of Ancient Greek shows the development of these burials. • 15. Dreams Are From The Book Your Soul Is Writing About You Dreams are illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you Marsha Norman The Interpretation of Dreams was published by Sigmund Freud in the year 1900 as a thought provoking compilation of ideas surrounding the cognitive processes of dreaming. Although it has been translated and edited since its original publishing date, it reads as if to hold true to Freudian fashion; addressing levels of consciousness and their effects on how specific dreams are formed. Freud makes a clear and reverent effort to acknowledge others theories, as well as his own, in an attempt to explain the unexplainable. His focus throughout the text is to hypothesize on how regression, resistance, and censorship all play a delicate role in the remembrance and interpretation of ones dreams. It is Freud s skillful application of resistance and censorship that grants further contemplation of why dreams are so soon to fade and be forgotten upon awakening. It is also this application that guides the reader into how these two processes may require one to use free association to interpret such dreams. Resistance and censorship are explained by Freud as a cognitive process that happens due to the separation of waking and sleeping states. He presents the idea that while one sleeps, the cognitive censorship used throughout waking hours is significantly reduced, making dreams possible. However, immediately present upon awakening is mental resistance, resulting in the forgetting or fragmenting of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This suggested the possibility that the vents provided biological life with the things they needed in order to survive. They that suggested methanethiol (sulfur containing carbon compound) was the starter dough from which all life emerged. The first people to test this hypothesis was geochemists, Eoghan Reeves, Jeff Seewald, and Jill McDermott. They went to the hydrothermal vent sites, there they predicted that they would find abundant methanethiol, their results had surprised them. Reeves said that their claim from before was false, What we essentially found in our survey is that we don t think methanethiol is forming by purely chemical means without the involvement of life. However, the scientists still believe that hydrothermal vents are a great environment for new life to emerge. The fourth of the biomolecule hypotheses was the RNA World Hypothesis. Therefore, it is no surprise Adam Smith s An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations Chapter five, entitled Of the real and nominal Price of Commodities, or of their Price in Labour, and their Price in Money, is considered the most confusing chapter by modern economist. Smith attempts to explain the measureof valueand the mechanisms, by which that value fluctuates. Value, as defined by Smith, has two different meanings, and sometimes, expresses the utility of some particular object, and sometimes the power of purchasing other goods which the possession of that object conveys. He further clarifies these values as value in use and value in exchange, defined as the value an individual receives from the use of a good and the value an individual would pay for or would be willing to sell a good for, respectively. The chapter consist of three main goals, Smith endeavored to show what is the real measure of this exchangeable value, what are the real parts of which this real price is composed, and what are the different circumstances which sometimes raise some or all of these different parts of price above, and sometimes sink them below their natural or ordinary rate. Showing the real measure of an exchangeable value quickly proves difficult. Smith is content to conclude, Labour, therefore, is the real measure of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Kierkegaard Subjectivity The truth of subjectivity was a reference to Christianity for Kierkegaard. His argument was that the only way that you can understand and know the truth about Christianity is from a personal subjective standpoint and not by objective analysis. He admits that it is ineffective to find the truth about Christianitythrough historical analysis because no matter how many times you try to look at it objectively, the result will only be an educated guess and not the ultimate truth. By reading more on Kierkegaard, you also learn his perspective on moral values in relationship to God. He argued that, instead of morality being created by God, it is a divine command from God which transcends ethics. This distinction means that God does not necessarily create human morality, but it is up to us as individuals to create our own morals and values. This type of individual has a passive relation to the divine (rituals which demand a particular attitude toward the universal). Kierkegaard is correct in a sense that people now are trying to find their identities towards faith, but are ultimately moving away from it. He argues that people who devote their time to faith in the external (ex. Only going to church on Sunday s) are limited to the commitment of the absolute/universal. On the other hand, he points out that there is the authentic individual. This is a person, like Abraham, who devotes their absolute commitment to faith. Fuel price increases have a negative impact on airlines because even in good time fuel costs account for roughly 10 12% of our operating expense. Every penny increase in the price of jet fuel costs the airline industry $180 million a year. In the absence of pricing power the ability to pass these costs along in the form of higher airfares these increases come right off the bottom line. An even more hurtful aspect of the fuel price increase is the relationship between the economy and air travel. The link between fuel prices and the health of the economy is clear. Three of the major recessions of the past thirty years can, in large measure, be attributed to the steep increases in fuel prices that accompanied the 1973 Middle East oil embargo, the 1980 Iran Crisis, and the1990 91 Gulf War. Subsequently, they were also against the U.S. invasion of Mexico in 1846. Due to their nativism, they were worried about the incorporation of the natives in the conquered territories into America. Buntline used his novel Magdalena, The Beautiful Mexican Maid: A Story of Buena Vista, to express his fears and to convince his readers that incorporating native Mexicans into the union might seem like a good idea at first, but would ultimately be an unwise decision for the country. Manifest destiny was the widely held belief that America was destined to expand the entire continent. Once the country touched the Atlantic and the Pacific, Americans started looking overseas for territory to expand to. This expansion took the form of American intervention in other countries in order to bring democracy, but in reality this expansion was for America s own gain. In 1898, Spain declared war on America due to America s intervention in Cuba s war for independence. The war was not only fought in the Caribbean, but also in the Pacific, which led America to be involved in the Philippine Revolution and in turn the Philippine American War. After America won the war, it gained several new island territories around the world, which led people to believe that the war was fought due to America s interest in the territories and not due to the fact that ... Literary Devices Of Scene In Faking It By Michael Chabon Most authors who implement the literary device of scene in their writing do so to establish an entry point to the universal subject they are trying to portray. In literature, scene is an experience or moment that the author explains in great detail through various devices in order to perceive that time is slowed. In Faking It, Michael Chabondoes exactly this, utilizing a scene to introduce the main point of his chapter. In my essay, ________ , I made a conscience effort to mimic this literary device; however, failed to properly utilize it as an entry point. At the forefront of Faking It , Michael Chabon paints a descriptive scene in which he was attempting to install a towel rack in the bathroom. To start the chapter, Chabon dictated that the only reason he was granted this chore was because he knew, kind of, how to use an electric drill. He then provided a descriptive image of his efforts, explaining how he read the instruction while sagely stroking [his] whiskers...[looking] as if [he] knew what [he] was doing and then proceeded to [drop] one of the metal towel bars onto [his] right thumb . Chabon continually comments and hints at his inexperience and that he was forced to sustain the appearance of competence . Wood (1) explains that in the period 1945 1952, the US occupied Japan. During this time, there was an explosion of artistic creativity and the US troops introduced to Japan American cartoons and comics like Mickey Mouse, Bambi and Betty Boop.
