Team Training Essay
After I examining your training records it s evident that you re extremely smart. You dominated
your end of course exam with a 92% to become a 5 level as an Aircraft Structural Maintainer.
However, looking at your hands on training completion date I began to question if you truly
understood the material. I also questioned if you received the proper training. Unlike the average
completion dates I ve seen in the past, you completed your 5 level tasks in roughly 16 months
versus the norm of 8 10 months. On the contrary, my perception of how you affected the team
dynamic in the shop was that of an executor. Whenever tasks were brought to your attention, you
were always overly anxious to execute the plan in a timely manner and identified... Show more

Why did I recommend this specific additional duty to you? The reason I am recommending this
additional duty to you is because I sincerely believe you will excel in this position. This program
requires a very specific structure and the responsibility it carries is very is significant. Handling
chemicals with the right personal protective equipment is crucial to the safety of the personnel
in your section. Based on your team role as an executor, I think you would soar in this additional
duty because of your ability to follow specific regulations and your high standards. You ve
always been quick to say No when members wanted you to do a task that wasn t justified by
technical data. I foresee you having zero issues ensuring the chemicals that are used
continuously are labelled correctly and cleaned before and after use. Which is an issue we both
have seen continuously occur over the past few months. It seems like every few weeks the shop
acquires a Quality Assurance (QA) fail for improper storage of HAZ material. As aggravating as
that can get, if you fill the HAZ Material and Waste position it will allow you to flex your
cognitive preference as an adaptor. In doing so, you will be able to make improvements to the
program in areas you deem fit based on AFIs, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Occupational, Safety and

Jean-Georges Vongerichten s Life And Accomplishments
Jean Georges Vongerichten Despite his overwhelming name that seems to extrude nobility and
power Chef Jean Georges is a very down to earth and laid back gentleman who collects vintage
toasters. Born in the middle of March in 1957 in Alsace France this future chef was destined to be
a great Chef. With his earliest memories with his family centering around food it is no wonder he
became a Chef. Growing up he was around his family run business on a daily basis. One of the
main reasons he fell in love with cookingwas watching his mother and grandmother in the kitchen
on a daily basis where they would prepare for, and feed, the employees of the business. Each day
they would prep and cook for fifty employees. On his sixteenth birthday is when... Show more

In addition to earning three stars from the New York Times for his flavorful food Chef Jean

restaurants eventually closed due to not wanting to renew his lease. His restaurant may be gone
but its impact will be known by many for generations to come. The name Vong inspired an author
of a famous series. His menu items and his restaurant name were used to form the name Yuuzhan
Vong which was an alien species in the Star Wars novels which are very popular. Chef Jean
Georges was considered to be the Unites States answer to nouvelle cuisine and can still be found in
kitchens around the country today. Chef Jean Georges claims to have been the original inventor of
the molten chocolate cake. This fact is disputed by many who claim that this dish already existed
before his claim. With over thirty restaurants to his name, multiple published cook books, and
leading a hospitality group Chef Jean Georges has influenced the culinary industry in a major way.

Lab Report On Chemical Weathering
Jesus Chavez
Chemical Weathering
Background Information:
First of all chemical weathering is when there is rainwater that is able to react with mineral
grains in rocks to form new minerals and also soluble salts. This type of reaction would usually
occur when the water is slightly acidic. For this reaction to occur it needs water and would occur
more rapidly at higher temperatures for example damp and warm climates would be the best for
this reaction to occur. Chemical weathering usually happens more often in the spring because this
is when it is more humid and hot outside and that is what chemical weathering needs for it to occur
and also when it is usually hot or humid there will also be water.
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to simulate the effects of slightly acidic rainwater on rocks and
minerals.
Hypothesis: If the level of acidity rises of the solution being placed on the rock or mineral then a
greater amount of dissolving will happen because of more acidic solution will destroy more
chemical bonds in the rock/mineral.
Procedure:
Get a scale and record the initial mass of the limestone chips
Get 5 50mL beakers and fill the first one with 30 mL of water
Fill the second beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:1 M)
Fill the third beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:2 M)
Fill the fourth beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:3 M)

Case Study Of Criteria
Started as a small cabinet business in the mid 1960 s Criterion furniture was established by two
brothers, Wally and Brian Smaill. It started out as a simple business in their garage and soon
transpired to be one of Australasia s largest marketers and manufacturer of ready to assemble
furniture and succeeding to achieve large target markets in USA and several parts of Asia. This
case study pertains to Criterion group from the 1960 s to the year 2000. Business for this company
peaked in 1980 while steadily declining shortly afterwards and by the year 2000 the business was
working on reinventing itself to remain in production. (Campbell Hunt, 2000) This assignment will

The brother s motivated the employees by having training courses to ensure high skilled workers.
(Campbell Hunt, 2000) After the dip in sales during the 1990 s, Criterion s upper management
figured that they had change their style of motivating their employees and accepted the lessons
that could be derived from the Hawthorne studies which states that people tend to rise to their
employer s expectation after being singled out with praise. (Schermerhorn et al, 2014) While
Criterion does follow Maslow s hierarchy of human needs (Schermerhorn et al, 2014) starting
from the psychological needs to helping the employees achieve self actualisation, however it
could be said that the rewards that were given out to the employees had no relation to the
company s goal of achieving higher levels of sales and this in turn, made the employees to act
out of own self interest instead for the good of the company, as could be seen with their insistence
of being cell leaders . (Campbell Hunt, 2000) It would also have worked in Criterion s favour if
they realised the result of the Hawthorne effect earlier rather than in the late

Essay on The Young Offenders Act
The Young Offenders Act
The federal government of Canada fifteen years ago, in 1984, the Liberal party changed the
Juvenile Delinquents Acts to the Youth Offenders Act to have a More human approach to the
rights of young people before the law (Leschild and Jaffe, 8:1991). In the present such as Premier,
Mike Harris, of Ontario wants the federal government of Canada to scrap the Young Offenders Act
.
In 1999, the same party that came up with the act is making majors changes to the act. This report
will look at the young offenders act at the present time, look at why kids commit crime, what is
being done to improve the act, what has the province done towards teenagers and also a look at the

abuse and/or physical abuse. Kaye goes on to say that Even through parents have been loving

Toronto defence counsel Bill Trudell said it best when he said We don t we just recognise in this
country we have kids who don t ask to be brought into this world, who have all kinds of pressures
we don t even imagine and who aren t Martians, they re kids? Allmand who is one of the most left

offence that was dealt with informally by the police. The total of all offence in 1985 was at
188,958 and by the year 1989 it had jumped to 225, 766 so an increase of 36,808 in just 4 years. A
big suprise was in the rise in numbers of the Drug offence. In 1985, it was at 4,290 and in 1986 it
jumped up to 4,767, but by the year 1989 it was at 4,253. In that 5 year period it decreased by 43

Should the President of the United States have to be born on United States soil?
A controversial debate is roaring across the nation in Decision 2016, but it is not the politics of the
candidates, it s the legitimacy of their candidacy. The Constitution, America s rulebook, states that,
No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United State, at the time of the adoption
of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible
to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a

protect the United States from influence from outside countries. What this means is that a group
can form a conspiracy in which they plan to become the POTUS (President of the United States)
and other major parts in government to keep the conspirators in power. This could lead to tyranny
in the nation and utterly destroying what America stands for, Democracy. There are, however,
good things that can come out of the removal of the Natural Born Citizen Clause. These foreign
leaders could bring in new ideas and philosophies. This would be beneficial, but would you take

Brutality in Algeria Essay
In Algeria, an African country, there is a civil war raging. The radicles are ruthless and will do
anything to ensure their victory. Their ultimate goal is to take over the country, to rule it on their
own (Hafez). They were ruthless and heartless and did not care who got in their way. This country
has been struggling to maintain civilization to no prevail. This country has been struggling for
quite some time now it is about time for it to pull itself back together and regroup. If it does not the
results could possibly be catastrophic. The country could fall to the radicles and become a total
anarchy. Meaning there is no governmentand everyone lives with their own rules. During this civil
warthe government is falling to the radicles.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This indicated that the radicles were afraid of smart women. Being smart is to be powerful and
that is the opposite of what these terrorist wanted. One woman was speaking out against women
being treated differently and her father was killed that way she had to suffer. Life for women is
rough in Algeria due to them being in this war with the radicle Islamics. The women are much
weaker than the men therefore they believe that women cannot do the same thing that they do,
which is where most of the sexism comes from.During the war women played parts in mostly
helping out the troops, also another reason they were targeted. Women are equal to men
regardless of what is said. Most countries are past this chapter in history and women are not
totally equal, but a lot closer than this one. The women are beaten for not complying with
request. Forced to be sex slaves to the radicles they are captured by. Also being killed for being
intelligent or being powerful as well as speaking out against these crimes. After their capture the
radicles work them like dogs doing whatever they ask and when they are done they either release
them or kill them depending on how well they complied. Sometimes the radicles did not even give
the women a chance they simply killed them out of cold blood, just because they could. The
sexism was so bad that some men wouldn t let their wives go outside for fear of them being
snatched up and killed. Along with sexism in Algeria the government is not

Purpose Of Government
To adequately explain the purpose of government, we must first understand what government is.
Humans learned early on the importance of needing an organized set of rules to govern over one
another. Whether it was a dictatorship, a monarchy, or even a democracy, history has provided us
with many examples of various structures dating back to some of the earliest known civilizations.
The one thing they all held in common is that they embraced a system, also known as a social
contract to create and enforce laws for those living within their lands. What most interesting is all
the influences our founding fathers drew upon when creating the American governmental system.
So that leads us to the next question of inevitability. Inevitable means something is certain to
happen or unavoidable. It can be argued that our society could function without a government
structure in place. We have seen main stream media and reality television attempt to demonstrate
this in programs such as Utopia created by Fox. However, what happened and will always happen
is the formation of a natural hierarchy. With those with necessary desirable skills put above others
in a pecking order. In addition, the size of the group does not matter, whether its 10 or 10,000
people, someone will undoubtedly step forward. Preventing anarchy and chaos from prevailing.
Now, not all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, it is never easy to change attitudes, especially when we are attempting to change them
around an entity that is so mistrusted. Yet, there is a correlation between the overall state of the
nation and the general satisfaction of its citizens. People are generally happier today than they
were ten years ago because gas prices are down, the stock market is performing better and the job
market is stronger as well. Unfortunately, however these indicators alone are not enough to restore
full confidence in our government or its leaders on any

The Morality Of Inertia Summary
The Morality of Inertia by Lionel Trilling is about how Ethan Frome refuses to take action for
what he wants due to moral issues. Trilling talks about how miserable is Frome s life. He has
this desire to share his life with Mattie, but at the same time he can t leave his marriage with
Zeena. Trilling talks about how literature doesn t get along with inertia, and how Wharton creates a
story where the main character is experiencing life in death. Throughout the whole story, Frome is
always thinking about leaving Zeena to be able to have a future life with Mattie, but he loses
momentum all the time. At the end, he does take action and leaves with Mattie, but not for so long
or too far because they both ended up living with Zeena anyways.

International and Intercountry Adoption

International and Intercountry Adoption
The birth of a child represents a milestone in the life of families. For those who are not able to
conceive a child by natural means, adoption often comes as an alternative and rewarding way to
build a family and fulfill individuals desire to experience parenthood. Whether for biological or
personal reasons, many have taken the path to adoption despite the fact that they are able to have
their own biological child. Others have taken this remarkable road based on values or altruism.
Whatever the reason, family dynamics change with the arrival of a child and counseling poses ...

At times families wish to adopt from the country of the family s own ethnic origin, or they may be
familiar with others who have successfully adopted overseas. The research also suggests that the
major reason families choose to adopt international is the manner in which most international
adoptions are conducted; a process that minimizes the threat that a child could be offered to
potential parents and then withdrawn. International birth parents transfer their parental rights to a
third party adoption agency or orphanage before the adoptive parents get involved in the process.
This may not be the case with domestic adoptions, mainly when a child is expected, but not yet
born. Birth parents may change their minds about adopting out their child during the period before
the adoption is finalized (Fain, n.d., http://ezinearticles.com/?The Pros And Cons Of International
Adoption amp;id=533106).
Thus, one can conclude that this can be a terrifying prospect for would be parents to contemplate,
and adoptive parents who wish to reduce this possibility may prefer international adoption or may
otherwise work only to identify candidate children who have already been placed in an orphanage
or foster program. In addition, some adoptive parents find that international restrictions on who

Sexual Assault On College Campuses Research Paper
Sexual assault is a topic that no one wants to cover, but almost everyone endures, or knows
someone who has endured it throughout their lives. Particularly, sexual assault on college
campuses is a huge deal. One in five women are sexually assaulted, which is a number that is
insane to think about. In reference to the article on ending college sexual assault, the way the
initial victim Maya reacted to the sexual assault is the same way many others do as well. Not
only does it go unreported, which leaves the door open for continued sexual assault, she also fell
behind on her studies as her mental state deteriorated. That example represents many students
worldwide across campuses, and that is something that is just not alright. In 2011, Russlyn Ali
wrote a letter titled Dear Colleague which shined some light on the scenario of sexual assault on
campuses, and said a lot of it was up to the universities themselves to help fix the problem. Before
the 2011 call to action, campuses across the nation just did whatever they chose to do, due to the
fact that the federal laws surrounding sexual assault on campuses were so rarely enforced. An
example of that would be in some schools, the case would go straight to law enforcement and...

Roads and highways also produce unintentional harm. In the 1970s, when Amazonian deforestation

easier access into the rainforest, the government built the Trans Amazonian Highway ( Tropical ).
This accessibility did not just allow easy entry for the official loggers, the highway also created the

Origin Of Baseball Essay
The Origin Of Baseball With upwards of ten million people participating in the sport of baseball
in the United States alone, it is apparent that baseball is one of the world s most popular sports.
Throughout the years, the sport of baseball has evolved from a humble game played on empty
sandlots to America s national pastime. The game has come a long way, but how did this game
come to be? Everything has its humble beginnings, and baseballis no different. Games that resemble
baseball have been around for centuries, and they have led to the development of baseball itself.
The game of baseball originated from a game called rounders. Rounders consisted of two teams,
a striking team and a fielding team. The striking team s goal was to hit the ball in order to score
rounders, or runs, in modern baseball. The rules were similar to the rules of baseball today.
There were two teams consisting of nine players and four bases. One difference between
rounders and baseball is that there is no foul territory in rounders. Any hit ball is in play and the
player may run. In baseball, the ball must be hit in between the foul lines painted on the third
and first base lines (Olmos). Prior to the year 1845 rounders and cricket were the only official
games related to baseball that existed, until an individual named Alexander Cartwright wrote the
first official rules of baseball. He wrote these rules for a baseball club named the Knickerbockers (

Using Pen And Paper Becoming A Classroom Of Diverse...
As each semester passes, I am growing in how to assess my students, and use it to build on future
more effective lesson plans that corporate a classroom of diverse students that benefits all
learners. I learned in my methods and severe courses that my lesson plans need to focus on one or
two items only. This can be achieved by concentrating, and being specific in the scope and goal of
what you want the students to achieve. I am now comfortable in knowing there are multiple ways
of confirming understanding of the lesson taught without using pen and paper or a worksheet all
the time. Objects, games, conversation, drawings, one on one, self guided or independent assigned
tasks, interactions, acting, listening, teamwork or working with a buddy are only a few ways to
determine knowledge, knowledge gained, and capability. I learned that the pen and paper becomes
necessary with an exit ticket, when a document is needed to confirm the success of the learners. I
learned what an exit ticket was and how to utilize them in severe and methods. An exit ticket is a
good way to document the learner s success while during the lesson, the students can enjoy the
hands on activities that enable them to be a successful learner without worksheets or test or even
realizing they are learning. Students were able to sculpt out an action verbusing play dough. They

Condemnatory Diction In The Rattler
What if is something one asks oneself after a tough decision. They ask each other what would have
happened if they had chosen another path; would they have felt better or worse. In the short story
The Rattler , a man questions whether or not to kill a rattlesnake who had no intention of attacking
him. He thinks hard about the situation. At the end he decides to kill him and is left with the
thought of what if . Throughout the story the author presents a conflicted man, an ethical snake, and
a tranquil setting to cause the reader to feel empathy along with anger towards the man and
sympathy towards the snake.
The author uses arrogant tone, condemnatory diction, and the man s point of view to cause the
reader to feel betrayed and disappointed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author portrays the snake as calm and intuitive with an approving tone to get the acceptance
of the reader. When the man finds the snake, it was waiting to see the man s intentions in calm
watchfulness . It did not even start rattling yet . The snake wanted to see what the man would
do. It did not want to attack first without knowing whether the man was going to. Hurting the
man was something he was opposed to. The snake was calm and careful, making him honorable.
The audience is pleased with the snake s noble decision. It makes the snake seem like the victim
because he wanted to make certain he was in danger. This causes the reputation of the snake
within the reader to go up. Portrayed as righteous by a sympathetic diction, the reader feels pity
and pleased by the snake. When the man comes back with a hoe, the snake had not moved , but
rather stayed still like a live wire when he saw the hoe . He did not move because he knows
people do not want to mess with him and he does not want to trigger a fight. He is dangerous
only if someone were to provoke or try to harm him. He will not attack unless he is forced to. This
makes the snake seem virtuous. The reader feels very proud of the snake for being honorable,
instead of the man, thus making the snake have a better moral conduct. This gives the reader more

Baking Soda Lab Report
Introduction
Baking soda is a common household item. It is used for a variety of things from cooking to
cleaning. Baking soda is synthesised on an industrial scale using the Solvay process. The Solvay
process consist of using limestone and extreme heat in order to break down the limestone into
carbon dioxide and calcium oxide.1
CaCO3(s)в†’ CO2(g) + CaO(s) The carbon dioxide is then combined with a concentrated solution of
water, sodium chloride, and ammonium. The ammonia and water react to make ammonium
hydroxide that reacts with sodium and carbon dioxide to form sodium bicarbonate.

Results and Discussions After filtration, 5.256 g of sodium bicarbonate was obtained. An
experimental error in this experiment was that 100 percent of the carbon dioxide did not go
through the nalgene tube because some went up the thistle tube. Another source of experimental
error was that not all of the sodium bicarbonate could be rinsed off of the glassware and not all
of it was filtered. Both sources of experimental error led to a lower yield. Precipitation reactions
could have been done to confirm the presence of carbonate ions in the product. Either calcium,
copper, iron, magnesium, or silver could have been added to the product and carbonate would
have precipitated out. Using stoichiometry and the mole to mole ratio from the 2nd formula

Cervical Radiculopathy Case Study
Cervical Radiculopathy Cervical radiculopathy is also known as a pinched nerve . In this paper it
discusses the presentation, pathophysiology, differential diagnoses, treatment modalities and patient
education. Presentation Upon observation the patient with cervical radiculopathy usually presents
with a head tilt away from the injury or a stiff neck, active range of motion may also be reduced
and increased pain with lateral bending away from the affected side. The patient upon palpation
may have tenderness along the paraspinal muscles and hypertonicity or spasm of the affected side
may occur (Malanga, 2016). There may also be muscle weakness or numbness down one arm even
extending to the fingertips. Pathophysiology Cervical radiculopathy is usually caused by a... Show

In the cases that the cervical radiculopathy does not improve than a soft neck collar can be used
to rest the neck or a neck pillow at night. Physical therapy may be used and neck traction may be
used in order to reduce the compression of the nerve root. A short burst of oral steroids may be
used however no controlled studies have been done to prove their effectiveness. Dosages of
60mg of oral steroids for 7 days may be used to help alleviate inflammation (Malanga, 2016). To
further help reduce inflammation icing and nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
should be used in the initial phase of treatment. The usual dosage for cervical radiculopathy is
Ibuprofen 800mg by mouth three times daily for the next 10 14 days (Malanga, 2016). There
have also been studies showing that tricyclic antidepressants have helped have an analgesic effect
on chronic and neuropathic pain, such as Elavil or Pamelor (Malanga, 2016). If these treatments
still do not give relief then a referral to an orthopedic surgeon is needed. At that point a steroid
injection may be performed or a surgical intervention may be

Interview With Croatia Research Paper
For this assignment, I had the pleasure to interview Jane, from Split, Croatia. The second largest
city in Croatia most well known for its appealing baches fortresslike complex at its center. Jane is
20 years old and attends University of California, Santa Barbara, where I had the privilege to meet
her through a mutual friend.
Jane was 13 years old when she, her mother and father first stepped foot into the United States. Jane
s family a traditional one, a mother and a father, her father a project manager for the IT Specialist

she explained they take their time there is no rush, verse here where people are so caught up in
this desire to have what they want when they want it. Everything is moving at the speed of light,
from flying instead of driving, online shopping instead of physically going to the store and even
social media, tweeting and liking pictures versus face to face interaction, people are always
doing something, always waiting on the next thing to come. Jane said that was also a hard
concept to adapt to. Aside from the fast pace life American s live, special events in Croatia are
differed from here. In Croatia turning 18 is as excited and build up as turning 21, mainly because
being 18 is the same as being 21. Jane also shares how Halloween isn t celebrated, and Christmas

Diversity In English
The English language is constantly changing and adapting. There are so many different forms,
dialects, and accents etc. The way that they have evolved and become what they are currently is
perhaps the most interesting thing, even moreso that wondering what they might potentially
become as they continue to adapt to fit the time. I took a class this semester called Diversity and
in this class we discussed the idea of accents as way to stereotype people. We hear the way that
one person speaks and use that to determine things about them that we absolutely shouldn t. For
example assuming that someone with an accent you don t recognize or is hard for you to
understand is less educated or has less money. In that class we looked into more regional accents...

the masses. He also writes in that same work of literature in the language of the slave. He had a
clear understanding of each and a desire to represent them properly. In the two passages from Life

different. The way that AAVE is written conveys the same message as the educated passage but
comes uses dialect rather than learned language to do so. This is a common trend in literature still
today. People still tend to believe in stereotypes and racial ones at that when they see literature
written in a language or in this case, dialect that they can t understand. The educated passage proves
a formal education but the one written in dialect shows the same understanding. This is the
important distinction. This shows how AAVE is judged, because the latter sounds less educated it

Summary Of How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents
Julia Alvarez is a famous author from the Dominican Republic. She is most known for winning the
PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles book award in 1991 for her novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their
Accents (Barth). Alvarez s Dominican background and her immigration to the United States
influenced her writing, especially in the novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents.
Alvarez was born in New York in 1950 but lived the first ten years of her life in the Dominican
Republic. At the time, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina, a ruthless tyrant, held a dictatorship over
the Dominican Republic (Barth). How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents takes place at the time
of this dictatorship. Alvarez s father was involved in a plot to overthrow Rafael Trujilloand moved
his family back to New York when it failed (Barth). This abrupt uprooting was a culture shock to
Alvarez who was used to the traditional Dominican culture (Shuman). In her novel How the Garcia
Girls Lost Their Accents, Alvarez describes the struggles that result when children are uprooted
from their Dominican culture.
How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents explores the complications four sisters face when trying to
immerse themselves in American culture. This includes religion, language barriers, fitting in at
American schools, physical appearance, and family dynamics. Alvarez writes about many of the
same struggles she faced during her own cultural transition.

Overpopulation in India
Population Explosion in India
The Factors and Effects of Population Explosion in India, and Steps to Control Population
There are many factors contributing in the population explosion in India, and the increased
population has led to many others consequences. Anyhow, steps are taken by the government of
India to control this predicament. First and foremost, the high birth rate in India is the main root of
the overpopulation. The high fertility rate is due to the impecunious of the country. To counter this,
the nations give birth to more children, hoping that there will be more income resources. Besides,
the people count upon that the survivability of their children is low and thus they keep producing
more children. Moreover, most of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

pollution. Besides, carbon dioxide and chlorofluorocarbons increase as the population grows and
result in air pollution and depletion of ozone layer. Eventually, temperature of earth will rise and
the ultraviolet radiation of the sun will be able to penetrate over the ozone layer. Global warming
occurs as greenhouse gases trap the heat in the earth s atmosphere. High temperature will hamper
the harvest of crops and further deteriorate the economy in India. Additionally, the climatic changes
will lead to increase of tropical disturbances. People themselves will be in danger as well as the
pollution goes critical.
The next pollution will be water pollution. This pollution comes from factories, automobiles
exhausts and mines, which dump sewage directly into the water. Moreover, as an Agrarian
country, the usage of pesticides for agriculture in India calls for water pollution too. Excessive
usage of organic matter by farmers will also lead to the same consequent. As mentioned,
deforestation will occur as population increase and the forests are stripped, soil erosion will
happen and further cause sediments in water. Furthermore, people in India bathe in river for

Social Media Has Changed Society s Priorities,...
Since the invention of the Internet, people have become indulged with its copious functions,
from making advanced programs to learning how to do new projects to social media. Social
media has evolved over the years, from Friendster to Myspace to Facebook, since the late 1990s,
and people have incorporated it into their lives. It is the modern way for people to connect and
communicate with anyone and everyone across the globe. Plus, social media is everywhere;
people utilize it when they are on the bus, at the checkout line, and even when they are using the
restroom. In Peggy Orenstein s The Way We Live Now: I Tweet, Therefore I Am, she propounds
that social media has altered society. Social media has changed society s priorities,
characteristics, and mentality. We live in a world now where we have never been more
connected while being more alone. Instead of spending hours on the phone or with our close
friends and family, it is now much more convenient to simply tweet, Instagram, or post our
feelings on Facebook. Orenstein reveals while she is spending time with her daughter, a part of
my consciousness had split off and was observing the scene from the outside: this was, I realized
excitedly, the perfect opportunity for a tweet (Orenstein, 347). Orenstein made the conscious, yet
somehow detached, decision to post her personal life on social media, instead of fully indulging in
the moment. People have allowed social media to overtake both their social lives and

Although there is much criticism directed towards millennials and younger generations when it
comes to texting, Crystals makes it clear that text like abbreviations have been used in English
for centuries. Acronyms such as LOL, LOML, BRB (laugh out loud, love of my life, be right
back) can be dated back to 1618 at the introduction of the term IOU in place of I owe you . The
history of abbreviations can be dated back to Anglo Saxon tribes. Humphrys argument poses
that texting poses a threat to literacy in our society, Crystal refutes this by giving examples of
how word alterations and abbreviations similar to that of texting have been used for centuries by
those with an adequate understanding of language for sake of brevity and creativity. In addition,
Eric Partridge published a Dictionary of Abbreviations in 1942. Containing many text like
examples, such as agn again , mth mouth , and gd good . Symbols and number in writing have
been used for a long while as well. There are called rebuses and they have been used since the
middle centuries to create puzzles, surnames, or conventional representation. Not only is the use of
these abbreviations that we see in texting something as old as the English language itself, the
criticism associated with is is also something that is as equally ancient. Crystal (2008) explains:
English has had abbreviated words ever since it began to be written down. Words such as exam, vet,

Salvador Dali Face Of War Essay
Salvador Dali was a Spanish artist who drew some of the most gorgeous yet obscure paintings in
the world today. The nuances of his work express such great ideas that it is believed one could
never perfectly analyze one of his works of art. Sticking to this trend, The Face of War is a
somewhat ugly landscape painting with a moving meaning behind every stroke. The desert set
painting features a snake inundated, skull like facewhich was drawn to personify everything that war
is. The subtleties in the picture help describe this personification further, as it fleshes out the
idea that war is an atrocious and terrifying occurrence that leaves sheer agony in the wake of
everything it touches. Those tortured by such an event are left with permanent scars, whether it
be in the form of the loss of their home, morals, or even life. The backdrop for the work is a
desolate desert which seems to extend completely empty all the way until it meets the horizon. In
the forefront of the image, a gaunt face which could quickly be mistake for a skull extends from
the top to the bottom of the canvas with a morbidly distraught expression overcoming it. In the
orifices where there should be eyes and a mouth, another head appears in each, with this repeating
for the openings of that face and so on until what seems to be infinity. While each visage seems to
resemble the last, it is notable that as they getter smaller and smaller (sinking deeper into the
picture), the facesseem to become more

Environmental concerns and climate change are influencing and shaping the future of the power
industry. As a result, the electricity required to meet the growing demand is mainly generated from
renewable energy resources, and this trend is expected to continue in the next decades [1]. Hydro
and wind are major renewable energy resources and are free of greenhouse gas emissions [2]. This
makes them valuable environmentally sustainable and economic resources for power generation

This condition imposes unique challenges on the planning and operation of a hydro wind
integrated power system in a reliable manner [8]. Previous studies on wind penetration issues and
solutions found that the limiting factors of wind integration include penetration level, forecasting
reliability, geographic diversity, hydro generation flexibility and control of the overall system [6].
Control is a key enabling factor for the deployment of renewable energy systems [9]. Control
techniques such as linear and dynamic programming, genetic algorithms, and neural networks,
proposed by past research, for the control and economic dispatch of renewable energy systems,
have not been acknowledged to be error free [3]. Two major flaws identified in existing techniques
include the lack of ease of use, and adaptability to new situations and evolving regulations [3].
These flaws pose major operational challenges to utilities and thus, make control technologies
optimization an imperative research endeavor.

The eunuch is an integral part of the 18th century play The Mogul Tale, by Elizabeth Inchbald. He

There are several roads that lead to a boy becoming a hijra. One way into the hijra life is to be

of the castration process, there is no way for the boys to escape and reintegrate back into

Why Hunters Should Not Hunting
Due to unethical hunters who use hunting as a front to kill exotic trophy animals, case in point
Walter Palmer and Cecil the lion. The American Dentist who traveled to Zimbabwe to kill thirteen
year old Cecil the lion who was living in a sanctuary. Hunters have been given a bad reputation,
many people think of hunters of trigger happy individuals who shoot anything that moves in the
woods. This could not be further from the truth; many hunters use huntingas an alternative choice at
providing cheaper, fresher meat for their families. Before hunters can even begin hunting they
must be educated. All fifty states require a basic hunter s education course except Alaska, they
have stricter rules when it comes to obtaining a hunting license. While this course differs for every
state they have the same mission. To teach hunters to be ethical, engaged, well informed and safe.
In Texas kids who are sixteen and younger must take the hunters safety course online but they must
also attend a field day. To do this there must be a classroom setting and state certified instructors,
this creates jobs. According to research done by the national shooting sports foundation an
estimated 680,000 jobs are sustained from hunting. Not only does hunting generate jobs into also
brings in a lot of money. Chris Dolnack who is NSSF s Senior Vice President and chief marketing

Gender Roles In A Midsummer Night s Dream
All throughout history, males have always been the dominant gender. Men never let the females
have certain rights and would consider the women to be objects or possessions. This sexism can
be seen all around society and has established one of the most famous works of literature, A
Midsummer Night s Dream. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, Shakespeare uses the contradicting
settings of the woods and Athens to show how women try and break out of the role society has
forced them to play. During the Elizabethan Era, the society was patriarchal. The men were

Personality Traits Of An Individual Personality Essay
Individual Personalities Personality is defined as, the sum total of ways in which an individual
reacts and interacts with others and personality traits are defined as, enduring characteristics that
describe an individual s behavior. (Robbins and Judge, 2009) Describing an individual s
behavior can be tricky and trying to change an individual s personality is near impossible.
Business managers have the task of implementing a leadership style that thrives in their
perspective business. However, in order for their particular style of leadership to be a success they
need to understand the role personalities play in business organizations. Team members
personalities may dictate what style a leader ultimately decides to implement, just as, employers
will look to hire individuals with personalities similar to that of the company. Hiring managers
need to be in tune with personalities and how they may help benefit their bottom line. This process
is accomplished by the use of personality tests, which have been around since the early 1900 s.

One of the most common personality tests is the Jung Typology Test. Jung is known as one of the
pioneers in the field of psychology, along with Sigmund Freud. His research gave light to the idea
of psychological types.
Myers Briggs Typology Indicator

The Effect Of Digital Analog Audio Signal Processing
Abstract
As technology advances, the research of digital signal processing is undergoing rapid development.
At present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics
applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP
application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech
enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc..
With the development of IT technology and voice processing technology, people have more and
more high quality requirements of audio. However, the traditional analog audio signal processing
has been impossible to meet people s needs, at this time, digital signal processing began to ... Show

In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system
which based on DSP technology.
In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a
numerical system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain
characteristics of unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter,
infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the
IIR filter, the FIR filter has just one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin,
so it is always stable and can be easily realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase
property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is
widely used in the field of high fidelity signal processing, such as digital audio, image processing,
data transmission, biomedical and other fields.
This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can
do sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve
the system will be put forward.
Key word: DSP, Audio signal processing, FIR filter

How Did The Court System Work During The Middle Ages
How did the court system work during the Middle Ages ?
The court system in the middle ages worked by using the term guilty until proven innocent and
using trials of ordeal to determine innocence. The courts weren t based on the idea of an accused
being innocent until proven guilty as there was no concept to believe the accused was innocent.
It was the job of the accused to prove their innocence. The accused could do this by taking an
oath to prove their innocence. The accused would also be required bring oath helpers, these
helpers would normally know the person very well. The oath helpers swore that they believe the
accused is innocent. The oath system worked well as it was very efficient and workable as it was

On the other hand in the accused is actually innocent, they are able to gain a proper chance to
gain enough oath helpers. In the absence of oath helpers, the accused was able to prove their
innocence by trial by ordeal. Trials by Ordeal worked by subjecting the accused to perform an
unpleasant and highly dangerous test. The ordeal would usually be life or death. Examples of a
trial by ordeal are Trial by Fire , Trial by Hot iron and Trial by Water . The trial by is when the
defendant is in a fetal position and thrown into water. If the accused sank and drowned they were
innocent but if they floated they were presumed guilty. In many of the ordeals the only way to
prove your innocence was also by dying. In figure 1 a woman is undergoing the trial by water
with her hands and legs securely tied up. This shows how the middle ages used the term guilty until

Essay On Web Soil Survey
atory Final Report: Web Soil Survey
Introduction: The location of the land used to determine several projects location was in Floyd
county with the coordinates defined as (34В° 6 21 N. latitude, 101В° 24 57 W. longitude), (34В° 6
21 N. latitude, 101В° 23 29 W. longitude), (34В° 5 33 N. latitude, 101В° 24 57 W. longitude), and
(34В° 5 33 N. latitude, 101В° 23 29 W. longitude). The major soils located within the area of
interest(AOI) were identified as PuA, RaA, and LoA, with the soils texture identified as clay loam
for PuA and LoA, and clay for RaA. The soils identified all had low slopes ranging from 0 1%. The

The ratings of the construction building are based upon the soils capacity to support weight.
What affects the soils capacity to support weight would be the water table, ponding, shrink swell
capacity, and compaction. One of the limitations for builing housing on PuA was found the high
shrink swell. High shrink swell is the capacity clay has to increase once the soil has become
saturated which can create foundation problems. Though this soil was made an ideal location for
the construction due to the low slope rate which creates low errosion potential, as well as the
location of the housing being located next to a road can create a high compaction rate due to traffic.
This would help the stability of the housing.
In relation to the sanitary facilities it was found that sanitary landfills (area) was identified to be
built on soil LoA. Sanitary landfills (area) is described as a waste being depositied in successive
layers on the surface of soil (Web soil survey). Figure 6 below, shows the location of the sanitary
facility.
Ratings for the sanitary facility are based on trafficability, risk of pollution and flooding. While
PuA was identified as a possible soil that the facility could be built upon it did experience frequent
flooding. Therefore, the soil LoA, would be the most ideal for the sanitary facility because it does
not experience frequent flooding, though it does have the limitation dusty.

Animal Therapy Helps Improve Human s Emotions And Disorders
Animals have served humans in more than one way including as a source of food, improving our
health, and service in working. They have helped in all of these fields, and humans have grown
fond of them. Nowadays, it is seen that people grow to love their pets, and there are many
organizations fighting for animal rights. Pet owners are extremely attached, so they suffer a lot of
pain when the animal dies. According to a study done in Romania concerning pet loss, humans like
having pets and adopting them because they like caring for a being that is dependent on them. In all
aspects of the relationship between animals and humans, they have helped each other in many
ways. Animal therapyhelps improve human s emotions and disorders because of the fact that we
like to be nurtured and taken care of.
Since the 9th century, animal therapy has been active in different fields. The human and animal
interaction has a special connection that can help people emotionally. According to the website of
Dr. Carol R. Hughes, a licensed therapist, the interaction has the ability to heal and assist humans
with mental disorders and emotional problems and also dwells incredible healing powers
(Hughes, p. 1). Sigmund Freud, a well known neurologist felt that dogs had a special sense that
allows them to judge a person s character (Coren). Dogs have even been known to be man s best
friend. Canines respond to emotions in the voice in the same way that humans do. (Spencer) This

Did Benjamin Franklin Discover Electricity
Since electricity is a natural force it didn t have to be invented. It did have to be discovered and
understood. Most people give credit to Benjamin Franklin for discovering electricity from his
experiment when storm clouds transferred to the kite and electricity flowed down the string and
gave him a shock. He s lucky that he didn t get hurt, but he didn t mind the shock since it proved
his idea. But was Benjamin Franklin really the first person to discover electricity? Maybe not! At the
turn of the 17th century, English scientist William Gilbert established the science underlying the
study of electricity and magnetism. Inspired by Gilbert s work, another Englishman, Sir Thomas
Browne, made further investigations and wrote books about his

The Effects Of Society s Unrealistic Expectations Of Women
1. What is your topic?
My poem is about society s unrealistic expectations of beauty that is demanded from women in
their lifetime. I also want to address the negative impacts of these beauty ideals on women. 2. What
do you want your audience to know about your topic?
I want the audience to understand the pressure that is put on women to conform to beauty ideals
which correlate with many horrible psychological effects such as low self esteem, depression, and
eating disorders. The standards of beauty promote many unhealthy body images which can
influence women s decisions to harm themselves in order to integrate into the mainstream western
culture. Pressure to conform to beauty ideals starts from a very young age when little girls are

However, those are all lies told to destroy our sense of confidence and security, and lead us onto
the path of cosmetic procedures, that obscure our natural selves with injections and surgery, as
well as self harm. I feel that this topic is important for my audience as many people can relate to
it, many times we feel dissatisfaction towards ourselves due to the unrealistic ideals of beauty that
we are surrounded with. This causes many psychological effects within the society such as
insecurities and lower self esteem. It has been found that outer appearances have been an
important factor that determines self esteem globally and if the audience is able to understand that
beauty is embedded in our behavior and personality instead of outer appearances then it can
elevate their confidence. Due to a constant comparison of ourselves with things portrayed in the
media, women often feel inadequate which can create a negative self image. This can lower the
quality of lives for many and lead to

Somnambulism
Charles Brockeden Brown introduces a short thriller story that grasp the attention of the readers not
pursuing the idea of who the killer was but rather questioning the state of mentality of the
protagonist. Throughout the short story, Brown manages to invent a suspenseful tone that intrigues
the reader through the idea of psychoanalysis and the constant questioning of Althorpe character as
a whole. In the short storythat explains itself, Somnambulism is described to correlate sleepwalking
and the constant psychological battle the protagonist is constantly facing throughout the story.
Browns intentions were made quite clear early in the short story, he wanted readers to know

In Althorpe dreams he believes he is protecting Constnaie from an assassin set out to kill her and
defends her by killing it. The way he describes it would only lead the readers to the conclusion
that he actually commited the murder. I was summoned, methought, to defend this lady from the
attacks of an assassin. My ideas were full of confusion and inaccuracy. All that I can recollect is,
that my efforts had been unsuccessful to avert the stroke of the murderer. This, however, was not
accomplished without drawing on his head a bloody retribution. I imagined myself engaged, for a
long time, in pursuit of the guilty, and, at last, to have detected him in an artful disguise. I did not
employ the usual preliminaries which honour prescribes, but, stimulated by rage, attacked him
with a pistol, and terminated his career by a mortal wound. (Brown Pg 7) Viewing his dream from
a psych analysis standpoint, you can understand that Althorpe is trying to interpret him killing
Constanie Davis in a more fictional event for him to believe. However, when he wakes up he
seems to deflect the dream and make it into just a dream. This manipulation inside his head lets the
reader assume the psychological reasoning to his sleep walking throughout his

Artificial Intelligence In Black Mirror s Be Right Back
In the Black Mirror episode, Be Right Back , Ash and Martha are a couple in the process of
moving into Ash s empty childhood home when Ash dies suddenly in a car accident. Racked
with grief, Martha chooses to utilize a software technology that takes all of Ash s digital
presence (videos, photos, audio, social media posts, etc.) and recreates Ash s personality to
allow her to speak with this new A.I version of him via the phone and online. After a while,
Martha decides she wants more and opts to upload the software to a fully functioning robotic
clone of Ash. What she soon realizes is that what makes Ash the person she knew and loved
cannot be replicated by A.I. Unlike Ash, the robot does whatever Martha tells it to do and is overly
agreeable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Martha has sex with the robot, it is clearly a more lasting performance than Ash s (as was
shown earlier in the episode). Even though the mechanics of having sex with the robot are better
than with Ash, this only serves to highlight that the robot is better at something than Ash, but in the
doing so, fails at being an accurate duplicate of him.Descartes believed that machines could never
express their thoughts or respond to the meaning of what has been said to them ( (Irwin, Brown and
Decker , Terminator and Philosophy: I‛ll Be Back, Therefore I am 22). It s true that artificial
intelligence can communicate, however, it is never really expressing its own conscious thoughts
while doing so since consciousness is what is missing. This brings us back to that cliffside. When
Martha tells the robot to jump, it responds with, I never expressed suicidal thoughts. Or self harm.
, implying that it would if human Ash had those thoughts, and only for that reason. She replies
with, yeah well, you aren t you, are you? . He then tells her the question is a difficult one to
process (Harris). Without a mind, the robot cannot understand the nuances and gravity of this very
human conversation and only interacts the way it perceives Martha wants it to. Until Martha yells
at it for not having a normal human response to such a request as jumping off a cliff, there is no
emotional inflection or reaction on the robot s part.Is there a way to prove whether

Essay about Out of This Furnace Analysis
Steel Mill Immigrants Of Industrial America
For many Americans, the late nineteenth century was a time of big business, marked by economic
and social evolution. In the period between the 1880 and 1920, the American economy was
growing at a rapid pace. Many European immigrants without industrial skills flooded into American
factories and steel mills. These new comer s came in search of better economic opportunity, which
paved the way for Heavy, low paying labor that became the job description of the era for many
immigrants. One such story of immigrants of the time is Thomas Bell s Out of this Furnace. This

taking odd jobs to make ends meat. The second part of the novel is about Mike Dobrejcak who

Negative Eugenics
Eugenics will become a universal practice in the future due to the fact that humanity never
learned the lesson from the Holocaust and the Second World War. For instance, in the years
immediately after the war, many American geneticists worked as evaluators for many newborns
adoptive placements. They would focus on the [child] s ability to appear convincingly white,
relying upon examination of the sacral spot at the base of the spine, nose width, lip thickness,
hair texture and shape, and even scrotum coloration to determine the type of family most suitable
for the child. Moreover, Peter Singer, who was a moral philosopher born at the end of the war,
publically endorsed the termination of not only disabled infants, but children and adults as well.
Shockingly, he was also a supporter of the Nazi Aktion T4 program, More recently, an American
jail sterilized all of its female prisoners who both failed to graduate from high school and had five
or more children. The jail administrators did this without the consent of these prisoners. These were
examples of negative eugenics, the one practiced by the Nazi party and caused the deaths of
millions of people. Clearly, the American geneticists, Singer and the jail administrators all wanted
to improve the quality of the population by discouraging the reproductions of people with less
desirable traits, such as African American features, disabilities and low intelligence. Both the
continued practices of negative eugenics as well as

  • 2. Team Training Essay After I examining your training records it s evident that you re extremely smart. You dominated your end of course exam with a 92% to become a 5 level as an Aircraft Structural Maintainer. However, looking at your hands on training completion date I began to question if you truly understood the material. I also questioned if you received the proper training. Unlike the average completion dates I ve seen in the past, you completed your 5 level tasks in roughly 16 months versus the norm of 8 10 months. On the contrary, my perception of how you affected the team dynamic in the shop was that of an executor. Whenever tasks were brought to your attention, you were always overly anxious to execute the plan in a timely manner and identified... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why did I recommend this specific additional duty to you? The reason I am recommending this additional duty to you is because I sincerely believe you will excel in this position. This program requires a very specific structure and the responsibility it carries is very is significant. Handling chemicals with the right personal protective equipment is crucial to the safety of the personnel in your section. Based on your team role as an executor, I think you would soar in this additional duty because of your ability to follow specific regulations and your high standards. You ve always been quick to say No when members wanted you to do a task that wasn t justified by technical data. I foresee you having zero issues ensuring the chemicals that are used continuously are labelled correctly and cleaned before and after use. Which is an issue we both have seen continuously occur over the past few months. It seems like every few weeks the shop acquires a Quality Assurance (QA) fail for improper storage of HAZ material. As aggravating as that can get, if you fill the HAZ Material and Waste position it will allow you to flex your cognitive preference as an adaptor. In doing so, you will be able to make improvements to the program in areas you deem fit based on AFIs, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Occupational, Safety and Health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Jean-Georges Vongerichten s Life And Accomplishments Jean Georges Vongerichten Despite his overwhelming name that seems to extrude nobility and power Chef Jean Georges is a very down to earth and laid back gentleman who collects vintage toasters. Born in the middle of March in 1957 in Alsace France this future chef was destined to be a great Chef. With his earliest memories with his family centering around food it is no wonder he became a Chef. Growing up he was around his family run business on a daily basis. One of the main reasons he fell in love with cookingwas watching his mother and grandmother in the kitchen on a daily basis where they would prepare for, and feed, the employees of the business. Each day they would prep and cook for fifty employees. On his sixteenth birthday is when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to earning three stars from the New York Times for his flavorful food Chef Jean George also opened The Lipstick Cafe next door which served as a breakfast and lunch destination. (Culinary Concepts Hospitality Group. (n.d.). Retrieved August 12, 2015) Both restaurants eventually closed due to not wanting to renew his lease. His restaurant may be gone but its impact will be known by many for generations to come. The name Vong inspired an author of a famous series. His menu items and his restaurant name were used to form the name Yuuzhan Vong which was an alien species in the Star Wars novels which are very popular. Chef Jean Georges was considered to be the Unites States answer to nouvelle cuisine and can still be found in kitchens around the country today. Chef Jean Georges claims to have been the original inventor of the molten chocolate cake. This fact is disputed by many who claim that this dish already existed before his claim. With over thirty restaurants to his name, multiple published cook books, and leading a hospitality group Chef Jean Georges has influenced the culinary industry in a major way. (JEAN GEORGES. (n.d.). • 4. Lab Report On Chemical Weathering Jesus Chavez Chemical Weathering Background Information: First of all chemical weathering is when there is rainwater that is able to react with mineral grains in rocks to form new minerals and also soluble salts. This type of reaction would usually occur when the water is slightly acidic. For this reaction to occur it needs water and would occur more rapidly at higher temperatures for example damp and warm climates would be the best for this reaction to occur. Chemical weathering usually happens more often in the spring because this is when it is more humid and hot outside and that is what chemical weathering needs for it to occur and also when it is usually hot or humid there will also be water. Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to simulate the effects of slightly acidic rainwater on rocks and minerals. Hypothesis: If the level of acidity rises of the solution being placed on the rock or mineral then a greater amount of dissolving will happen because of more acidic solution will destroy more chemical bonds in the rock/mineral. Procedure: Get a scale and record the initial mass of the limestone chips Get 5 50mL beakers and fill the first one with 30 mL of water Fill the second beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:1 M) Fill the third beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:2 M) Fill the fourth beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength:3 M) Fill the last beaker with 30 mL of hydrochloric acid (strength: 6 M) Then place ... The brother s motivated the employees by having training courses to ensure high skilled workers. (Campbell Hunt, 2000) After the dip in sales during the 1990 s, Criterion s upper management figured that they had change their style of motivating their employees and accepted the lessons that could be derived from the Hawthorne studies which states that people tend to rise to their employer s expectation after being singled out with praise. (Schermerhorn et al, 2014) While Criterion does follow Maslow s hierarchy of human needs (Schermerhorn et al, 2014) starting from the psychological needs to helping the employees achieve self actualisation, however it could be said that the rewards that were given out to the employees had no relation to the company s goal of achieving higher levels of sales and this in turn, made the employees to act out of own self interest instead for the good of the company, as could be seen with their insistence of being cell leaders . Toronto defence counsel Bill Trudell said it best when he said We don t we just recognise in this country we have kids who don t ask to be brought into this world, who have all kinds of pressures we don t even imagine and who aren t Martians, they re kids? Allmand who is one of the most left wing Liberals on social issues, said that is a disintegration of the family and it is translating into the kind of problems youths are experiencing today (Tyler, Insight: 1994). This could lead to tyranny in the nation and utterly destroying what America stands for, Democracy. • 9. Purpose Of Government To adequately explain the purpose of government, we must first understand what government is. Humans learned early on the importance of needing an organized set of rules to govern over one another. Whether it was a dictatorship, a monarchy, or even a democracy, history has provided us with many examples of various structures dating back to some of the earliest known civilizations. The one thing they all held in common is that they embraced a system, also known as a social contract to create and enforce laws for those living within their lands. What most interesting is all the influences our founding fathers drew upon when creating the American governmental system. So that leads us to the next question of inevitability. Inevitable means something is certain to happen or unavoidable. It can be argued that our society could function without a government structure in place. We have seen main stream media and reality television attempt to demonstrate this in programs such as Utopia created by Fox. However, what happened and will always happen is the formation of a natural hierarchy. With those with necessary desirable skills put above others in a pecking order. In addition, the size of the group does not matter, whether its 10 or 10,000 people, someone will undoubtedly step forward. Preventing anarchy and chaos from prevailing. Now, not all ... Sexual Assault On College Campuses Research Paper Sexual assault is a topic that no one wants to cover, but almost everyone endures, or knows someone who has endured it throughout their lives. Particularly, sexual assault on college campuses is a huge deal. One in five women are sexually assaulted, which is a number that is insane to think about. In reference to the article on ending college sexual assault, the way the initial victim Maya reacted to the sexual assault is the same way many others do as well. Not only does it go unreported, which leaves the door open for continued sexual assault, she also fell behind on her studies as her mental state deteriorated. That example represents many students worldwide across campuses, and that is something that is just not alright. In 2011, Russlyn Ali wrote a letter titled Dear Colleague which shined some light on the scenario of sexual assault on campuses, and said a lot of it was up to the universities themselves to help fix the problem. Everything has its humble beginnings, and baseballis no different. Games that resemble baseball have been around for centuries, and they have led to the development of baseball itself. The game of baseball originated from a game called rounders. Rounders consisted of two teams, a striking team and a fielding team. The striking team s goal was to hit the ball in order to score rounders, or runs, in modern baseball. The rules were similar to the rules of baseball today. There were two teams consisting of nine players and four bases. One difference between rounders and baseball is that there is no foul territory in rounders. Any hit ball is in play and the player may run. In baseball, the ball must be hit in between the foul lines painted on the third and first base lines (Olmos). Prior to the year 1845 rounders and cricket were the only official games related to baseball that existed, until an individual named Alexander Cartwright wrote the first official rules of baseball. Since the invention of the Internet, people have become indulged with its copious functions, from making advanced programs to learning how to do new projects to social media. Social media has evolved over the years, from Friendster to Myspace to Facebook, since the late 1990s, and people have incorporated it into their lives. It is the modern way for people to connect and communicate with anyone and everyone across the globe. Plus, social media is everywhere; people utilize it when they are on the bus, at the checkout line, and even when they are using the restroom. In Peggy Orenstein s The Way We Live Now: I Tweet, Therefore I Am, she propounds that social media has altered society. Social media has changed society s priorities, characteristics, and mentality. We live in a world now where we have never been more connected while being more alone. Instead of spending hours on the phone or with our close friends and family, it is now much more convenient to simply tweet, Instagram, or post our feelings on Facebook. Orenstein reveals while she is spending time with her daughter, a part of my consciousness had split off and was observing the scene from the outside: this was, I realized excitedly, the perfect opportunity for a tweet (Orenstein, 347). Orenstein made the conscious, yet somehow detached, decision to post her personal life on social media, instead of fully indulging in the moment. Although there is much criticism directed towards millennials and younger generations when it comes to texting, Crystals makes it clear that text like abbreviations have been used in English for centuries. Acronyms such as LOL, LOML, BRB (laugh out loud, love of my life, be right back) can be dated back to 1618 at the introduction of the term IOU in place of I owe you . The history of abbreviations can be dated back to Anglo Saxon tribes. Humphrys argument poses that texting poses a threat to literacy in our society, Crystal refutes this by giving examples of how word alterations and abbreviations similar to that of texting have been used for centuries by those with an adequate understanding of language for sake of brevity and creativity. In addition, Eric Partridge published a Dictionary of Abbreviations in 1942. Containing many text like examples, such as agn again , mth mouth , and gd good . Symbols and number in writing have been used for a long while as well. There are called rebuses and they have been used since the middle centuries to create puzzles, surnames, or conventional representation. The nuances of his work express such great ideas that it is believed one could never perfectly analyze one of his works of art. Sticking to this trend, The Face of War is a somewhat ugly landscape painting with a moving meaning behind every stroke. The desert set painting features a snake inundated, skull like facewhich was drawn to personify everything that war is. The subtleties in the picture help describe this personification further, as it fleshes out the idea that war is an atrocious and terrifying occurrence that leaves sheer agony in the wake of everything it touches. Those tortured by such an event are left with permanent scars, whether it be in the form of the loss of their home, morals, or even life. The backdrop for the work is a desolate desert which seems to extend completely empty all the way until it meets the horizon. In the forefront of the image, a gaunt face which could quickly be mistake for a skull extends from the top to the bottom of the canvas with a morbidly distraught expression overcoming it. In the orifices where there should be eyes and a mouth, another head appears in each, with this repeating for the openings of that face and so on until what seems to be infinity. Previous studies on wind penetration issues and solutions found that the limiting factors of wind integration include penetration level, forecasting reliability, geographic diversity, hydro generation flexibility and control of the overall system [6]. Control is a key enabling factor for the deployment of renewable energy systems [9]. Control techniques such as linear and dynamic programming, genetic algorithms, and neural networks, proposed by past research, for the control and economic dispatch of renewable energy systems, have not been acknowledged to be error free [3]. Two major flaws identified in existing techniques include the lack of ease of use, and adaptability to new situations and evolving regulations [3]. According to the time domain characteristics of unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily realized. • 52. The Story Of Genji Genji lit the candles as he set them up around the room. He discovered earlier that the power to the building shut off once the tours were finished. He walked out onto the balcony as the moon hung high up in the sky. The faint honking and shouting of the city filled the air as the wind whirled into his bedroom. Slowly, he sat down on the ground as he crossed his legs. His left hand remained expended as his right closed into his palm. His eyes fell closed as he took a deep breath, the whirl of his vents filled his ears. He was used to it by now, it was his rhythm it allowed him to relax.
