Bob Koch Case Summary
I have concerns about Bob Koch s professionalism, communication skills, willingness to contribute
positively to the Mobile Library team and his ability to represent the Pikes Peak Library District
favorably while on the Mobiles.
Background:
The Mobile Library department has 1 full time PSA4 (clerk/driver). The full time PSA4 works 5 days
a week. While in the office, the PSA4 is tasked with handling billing and ACES for the department as
well as restocking and refreshing the backup collection and handling the weeding reports and pull list.
I have spread the responsibility for these tasks to the PSS staff members, but find that they are not
getting accomplished in a timely manner. It is in the best interest of our department to have the full
time PSA4 complete these tasks, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By moving the full time PSA4 to the city route on Saturday, she gained an extra hour of office time.
This time is invaluable to the department as it sets the weekday crew up with restocked shelves,
finished pull lists and refreshed backup. Timeline:
7/24/15: Bob is on a Personal Improvement plan. Bob was placed on a PIP because while refueling the
Mobile Library, he had a verbal altercation with Acorn s Matt Crick and taped a note to Acorn s card
reader that said, Fix this damn thing. (note attached) My major concern is that Bob is unaware he is
representing the entire library district while out on the Mobile. 10/25/15: The Mobile Library
department had (2) 1.5 hour trainings on writing strategic plans. Bob emails his strategic plan to both
Alan and myself with the objective: I hope to maximize my individual talents/creative potential; I
hope to entertain patrons on the mobiles by punning, giving Don Rickles style insults, to elicit
laughter/humor; I give book talks and ask for feedback on books and movies patrons have enjoyed or
did not care for. (plan

The study draws economic analogies for Heisenberg s Uncertainty principle and concentrates on the
17 largest Investment Banks and the 10 largest Mutual Funds. It tries to quantify the uncertainty and
lists the economic mass of every institution from among the two groups and the average economic
masses of each group as well. The study was restricted to publically listed Investment Banks and
Mutual Funds and the model was not applicable to privately held and boutique banks and also wasn t
applicable to hedge funds and other private funds which did not report their Net Asset Value Returns.
According to the findings, the economic mass was highest for Goldman Sachs while Toronto Domino
Bank shows the least economic mass. When it comes to Mutual Funds, Pimco the world s largest
mutual fund had the lowest economic mass; the exposure to the crisis could be the reason behind this.
The American Funds Growth Fund of America has the highest economic mass. This study has been
able to show that the Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle has implications for financial institutions. For
future research, one could look into applying the model for privately held Financial Institutions and
those funds which do not report their returns like Hedge Funds.

Analysis of Starbucks Supply Chain
Abstract
Seattle based coffee chain founded in 1971, with over 21,000 stores world wide, and 12,218 locations
in the United States.
This report will analyze and discuss the Manufacturing process that begins with procuring raw
material (i.e. coffee beans), transporting the raw material to roasting plants, and manufacturing and
packaging the end product for consumption by the retail stores.
Starbucks has to closely monitor and follow the guidelines of the Drug Administration (FDA), the
Department of Agriculture and Occupation Safety and Health Act (OSHA) in order to own, operate,
and open new stores.
In 2008, Starbucks identified that the majority of its cost and expenses rooted from the distribution of
supplies. They have introduced the 3PLs (Third Party Logistics) reducing and eliminated third party
venders without creating defects in the short and long run.
CEO Howard Schultz and his management team sought out to simplify the complex process that had
been plaguing their supply chain and creating massive expenses. To accomplish this, they

Technology And The Loss Of Socially Dependence On Technology
Technology has rapidly progressed and has become a big part of everyday life. From cell phones to
self driving cars, technology is relied on every day, of every minute. People are starting to depend on
technology so much that soon, they will not be able to do anything themselves. Some may say that
technology will make life more easier and efficient, but what they may not know is that when people
make life too efficient, it can just as easily malfunction and have loopholes. (Add something to
transition) Texting instead of talking. Selfies instead of socializing. Screens instead of success. People
are too reliant on technology and they do not live in the moment, they do not interact with people face
to face, and technology can cause loss of basic motor skills. People have become overly dependent on
technology by not being able to live in the moment anymore. For instance, people who are watching a
performance are most likely to be on their phones posting pictures about it on social media. As stated
by Huffington Post, According to T Mobile, 47 percent of any guided audience text others during a
show, while 32 percent engage in social media during a show (Silva 2014). To advance further, a large
phone network is saying that a percentage of an audience are not paying attention to the performance
and instead are busy on their devices. Instead of enjoying the show they are missing a once in a
lifetime experience. According to CNN, The report reveals a dramatic one hour

War on Japan Essay
through history, man always seems to be at war. In some cases he is the attacker, in others the
defender. In both cases, these wars are broken down into two basic elements, the battles that are
fought and the individuals who fight them. The elements conflict, courage, fear, cowardice, heroism,
victory, and defeat make up the exploits of war we record in our history books. This paper will deal
with war, more specifically, a special exploit within one of the most significant wars ever experienced.
World War II involved millions of fighting men around the world. In Europe, Hitler and Germany
were the enemy. In the Far East, Japan was the enemy. To America, Japan was probably more hated

What if Army bombers could take off an aircraft carrier? Low tried his idea on Admiral King. King
thought the idea had potential so he sent it on to Captain Donald Duncan to turn his plan into fact.
This he did, and the Tokyo Raid became fact instead of fiction.
The first step in the plan was finding a leader. General Arnold requested Lieutenant Colonel James
Dolittle as the man to select the plane and the men for the mission. Dolittle accepted the challenge
without hesitation. Arnold let him know in no uncertain terms that he was to be a planner not a pilot.
As Doolittle went to work on the project, he saw a lot of problems. First of all, carrier landings were
impossible for twin engine bombers. Next, the total air trip was eleven hundred miles. The closest
landing area would be in Russia, but Joseph Stalin would not let them land there because he didn t
want to be invaded by Japan since he already had his hands full with the Germans. Fortunately, China
said it was all right to land there but they said it reluctantly. With these considerations and others,
Doolittle determined that the chances of the mission succeeding was fifty fifty. Despite the odds, the
decision was made to begin the project.
As the first step, despite Arnold, Doolittle wrote himself into the plan as a pathfinder. Doolittle s job
during the attack would be to light up Tokyo with incendiary

Theme Of An Outsider
The Outsiders by S.E Hinton and The Clay Marble by Minfong Ho both center around the motif of
being an outsider. The theme of both books is that you are never an outsider when you have friends
and family. This is shown through the two main characters, Dara and Ponyboy. While they share
similarities, the two are also vastly different. Dara starts her story as a very innocent and hopeful girl.
When she arrives at the refugee camp, she says I had the strange feeling that somehow I had finally
come back home on page 22. This is showing how even after she lost her home, she still had enough
hope to believe she could find a new one. She s also still a young girl. She plays with homemade toys
and says on page 43 Maybe, I thought, maybe she did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also starts off as The Innocent, hopeful for a better future and seeing the good in everyone. On
page 26 he says, I didn t get why we talk about girls in that way, which is showing how even though
he s tough he is still young and innocent and doesn t get why his gang talks dirty about women Also
like Dara, Ponyboy s archetype changes to The Loner or Outcast and he loses his hope. After Johnny
kills a Soc to protect him, they go on the run from the police. They hide out in an abandoned church
away from their families and society. On page 63 it says he must have been as homesick as I was
showing how Ponyboy wants to go back to his family. Again, this also shows the theme of The
Outsiders. Even though he s a greaser and on the bad side of society s view, Ponyboy is really only an
outsider when he is without his family and gang. Following Dara, after Johnny s death, Ponyboy
becomes The Hero. On page 145 the text states Yessir, I said, I ll try. What s the theme supposed to be
on? Anything you think is important enough to write about. And it isn t a reference theme; I want your
own ideas and your own experiences . Ponyboy then writes a theme paper based on Johnny s life,
letting everyone know what they ve gone through. He has an honorable purpose, allowing him to be
The Hero. Ponyboy also faces a great deal of problems, although his are not the same as Dara s. Like
her, he is also driven from his home and placed in an intense war. Unlike her, his war is of the social
classes and not countries. While Dara must overcome her fears, Ponyboy must discover who he is as a
person and who he wants to

ASP.Net web API that would take a JSON request sent by our Ruby on Rails application server and
send it to Relativity using the Relativity Services API. The ASP.Net server is written in C# so I learned
the relevant C# skills necessary to facilitate the success of the task. This server was deployed to our
Amazon Web Services environment with Amazon Web Services Elastic Beanstalk to be used by our

Counter Terrorism Laws And Human Rights
COUNTER TERRORISM LAWS AND HUMAN RIGHTS
The moral rule is not when one is about to kill you, pre empt him and kill him first, but rather when
one is about to kill you, do everything necessary in order to thwart his intention. Accordingly, if there
is no alternative to killing him, strike first. If there is an alternative other than killing him, thwart his
intention without striking first, without killing him.
I Introduction
Human rights and national security are at times perceived to be at odds with one another. When
government officials speak about national security, their arguments rest primarily upon the premise
that protecting human rights and civil liberties is at times subservient to protecting national security. In
India, the government has passed stringent laws protecting national security and combating terrorist
threats, but these same laws cannot pass the test of human rights scrutiny. The international human
rights framework, conventions or treaties to which India was a signatory or ratifying party, also
justified the limitations on governmental powers. However, the contemporary reality of Indian
executive governance demonstrates the weaknesses and inadequacies of the treaties and conventions.
As a result, police, military and para military forces continue to violate human rights. This problem
underscores the need to develop a culture amongst law enforcement officials that respects human
rights as a sine qua non for the preservation of the rule of law.

What Role Did Demeter Play In Ancient Greek Mythology
Demeter was one of the Twelve Olympians which are gods and goddesses in Greek mythology. Living
on top of a huge mountain called Mount Olympus, leaving the Greeks to believe that this mountain
was so grand and tall it could touch the sky. Myths and teachings of ancient Greece that lasted from
800 BCE until about 600 AD. All the gods and goddess played important roles according to the

explain the elements and origins of the world and can be relatable into the world we live today.
The Twelve Olympians were: Zeus (King of Gods), Hera (Queen of gods Goddess of marriage and

(God of blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, fire and volcanoes), Apollo (God of light

Roman Catholic And Mexican Immigrants Essay
Since the United States was created, immigrant groups have been discriminated against due to their
religious, ethnic, and/or national origin backgrounds. Possessive investment in whiteness has operated
throughout all this time by keeping privileges and resources to certain groups and defining whiteness
through the exclusion of others (Lipsitz 4). Through this process of exclusion negative discursive
formations have been created around immigrant groups and impacted their levels of assimilation. As a
result, there have been many discriminatory practices against immigrants throughout history with
variations in how that discrimination is carried out (Dinnerstein and Reimers 104). The two main
immigrant groups I am going to focus on are Roman Catholic and Mexican immigrants. In the
beginning of American history (and throughout), there has existed a sentiment against Roman Catholic
immigrants. Dinnerstein and Reimers give the example of John Adams letter to his wife reflecting his
negative perceptions of Roman Catholics and their practices, these same thoughts were shared by
many other Americans at the time (17 18). As a result of these perceptions, Roman Catholics were
discriminated against and often kept from exercising their right to vote during colonial America. Not
being allowed to vote and consequently, not being able to be heard in society intentionally keeps
immigrant groups from assimilating into the dominant culture because they are not able to contribute

How The English Changed North America Essay
For civilization to evolve, changes must be made. Imagine what the world would be like if the Natives
were just alone and no country migrated to North America. Would technology even exist? Would the
main weapons be just spears and arrows? Would medicine be invented so people could live long lives
without dying of diseases? These are questions that will never have to be answered because the world
evolved into a much bigger and better place. The English changed North America no matter what the
cost was. Some may argue that the English are the ones to blame for King Phillip s War, but that is not
the case here. The Indians did not want change and overall, it did not work out real well for them. In
this case, the war was brutal on both sides. The Natives did not change their customs as much as the
English wanted them to. By not assimilating to European values and customs, the Natives caused the
war over hatred of English values and traditions and made the world a dangerous place to live in.
Daniel Richter was the author of Facing East from Indian Country and Jill Lepore wrote The Name of
War. Lepore made some very interesting points that will be discussed that can make the Natives look
like savages, but the English were not angels either. King Phillip s War is one of the most brutal wars
in America and there really was not anything good about it. Mistakes were made and history was
changed. Richter took a standpoint that focused on the English pushing away the

The Laws Affects People s Everyday Life And A Business
The law affects people s everyday life and a business is not an exception. There are many definitions
of law, but nor one can be generally accepted, because with so many types of the law, these definitions
cannot cover every aspect of the law properly. Therefore, the law can be simply described as the
principles, rules and regulations, created by the state (the parliament) and established within a
community.
From the history, in the time of Henry II, the law was based only on the customs that were then
applied by all other judges all around the country, known as common law. Common law principles
created the basis for today s law and helps distinguish between the law created by previous decisions
and the law created by legislation. For instance, murder is a common law because it is not defined by
the Act of Parliament, unlike theft what is defined by Theft Act 1968. Martin(2010)
Since the Human Right Act 1998 section 2(1)(a) English law is determined by the European Union
and the judge must take into account human right cases of the European Court of Justice as well as the
English law cases. However, it is very different from the other countries law. In contrast, while
deciding a case in the UK, judge is bound to apply a judicial precedent of a higher court, based on the
previous cases judgements and principles known as ratio decidendi (the reason for deciding), rather
than being only guided by previous cases like other European Union countries. Based on

Comparison Of My Life And Angela s Ashes
Sir Isaac Newton once wrote If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. And
autobiographies and biographies indeed allows us to look further down the path through the life
experiences that great people have achieved. They tell us of the lives of real people, real events and
real experiences which have occurred in history. Stories that reflected incidents that were salient in
one s life, recounting their progress through the path towards possibly achieving something significant
in human history. This teaches us, with a realistic approach, of the opportunities and challenges one
has faced to reach where they are today. [Greeting] Helen Keller s The Story of my Life and Frank
McCourt s Angela s Ashes are prime examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most significant lines in Angela s Ashes is the introduction, written from the adult
perspective of McCourt: It was, of course, a miserable childhood... and worse yet is the miserable Irish
Catholic childhood... the poverty; the shiftless loquacious alcoholic father; the pious defeated mother
moaning by the fire; pompous priests; bullying schoolmasters... It is his bitter attitude conveyed with
the usage of words with negative connotations as well as alliteration of mother moaning and pompous
priests to emphasise the suffering he had experienced during his childhood which greatly contrasts
with the latter part of the autobiography which uses a good natured attitude to balance the bleakness of
his life. This shows his change of outlook towards his past despite the pain he has felt. In both Angela
s Ashes and The Story of My Life, their inner thoughts resonated within the readers through their
usage of emotive language to convey their experiences. Keller s writing style consists of mainly
emotional paragraphs where her inner thoughts greatly reveal how she felt at the time and in turn
touches the hearts of the audience further than any novel could. We would sit together of an evening
and listen to the inner melodies of the spirit... But in college there is no time to commune with one s
thoughts... When one enters the portals of learning, one leaves the dearest pleasures... I am
improvident enough to prefer present joy to hoarding riches against a rainy day. Again, the use of
words with positive and negative connotations are evident throughout the text allowing us to grasp her
feelings as she compares her free past life to the restriction of education. The revelation of the inner
thoughts of the author establishes a relationship where the readers

makes poor decisions on and off the field will receive a suspension as their punishment. A suspension
could be handed out for fights on the field, defenseless player making contact with referee, or any
other actions involved with poor behavior. A rape, steroids, domestic violence, assault and battery,

NHL suspensions
What causes a suspension on the ice or off the ice? NHL suspensions is similar to NFL suspensions.
Hockey players could be suspended for making contact with referee, blindsided hit, fights, or other.
Players also could be suspended for off the ice incidents as the NFL. But NHL players hardly ever get
suspended for something they do off the ice.
In the NHL, there have been sixteen infractions in the 2015 season. 1. Elbowing a player: using your

Anatomical Theory Of Disease Essay
In this paper I am going to discuss the differences between the Humoral concept of disease, the
anatomical theory of disease, the germ theory of disease and the differences between each theory. I am
also going to look at the historical significance of these theories and how they apply to health and
wellness in today s health care. The humoral theory comes from an ancient Greek theory that states
that the human body is composed of four basic humors. The Humoral theory is derived from the word
humor, but in this context, means fluid . The Humoral theory is related to the theory of the earth and
the four elements. These elements are better known as earth, fire, water and air. The balance in these
earthly elements allows the earth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fundamental concept of this theory states that microorganisms can invade the body and cause
certain diseases or even death. Before this theory was accepted many people believed that a disease
was a punishment for a person s evil behavior not a medical problem. These three theories differ
because they all covered different barriers when it came to treating and understanding diseases. The
Humoral theory began with the four elements and the anatomical theory allowed us to take a deeper
look into the functioning of the bodies systems. This helped us to learn what was happening in the
body, in the body systems and in the organs. Without these two studies we would not have come to the
Germ Theory. Even though each theory is different in concept each theory was important and we
would not have been able to progress along to the next theory. If we would not have had the germ
theory we would not have discovered the need for vaccines or discovered antiseptics. These theories
also allowed physicians to learn to look at diseases on a micro (small scale) instead of just a macro
scale or big picture. I feel that these theories have led to significant changes in health care over the
years. These theories have allowed scientist to discover not only how to cure some disease but also
how to prevent diseases from spreading. Scientists were able to develop vaccines, antiseptics, create
personal protective equipment and enabled the public

Red Panda Decline
For the red pandas size they have a long gestation period which lasts approximately 135 days, on
average they have two offspring at a time but this can range between one and four a litter. Red pandas
grow slowly so they do not become sexually mature until they are 18 months old, but 80% of red
panda cubs do not live to the age of maturity. Once the red panda reaches sexual maturity it can
continue to reproduce up until death, mating usually occurs during the winter season from January to
mid March and give birth around June. During the mating season a female red panda will generally
mate with more than one male to ensure fertilization, the male red panda will attract the female by
making a rawr like sound and if another male is near the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Due to the lack of knowledge about this species, the red panda was first recorded by the International
Union for the Conservation of Nature (and Natural Resources,) also known as IUCN, as Vulnerable in
1994. Shortly after this revelation there was an increase in interest, by conservationists, to pursue
additional information and protection for this species. In 1996, the red panda was assessed and
digressed to the Endangered status; the species remained that way for 12 years until another
assessment was taken, and showed improvement in 2008, recording the red panda as Vulnerable once
again. Unfortunately, due to an increase of human activity on the red panda habitat has spurred
another decline in the population for the red panda. Angela Glatston, a red panda expert, assisted in
the evaluation of the red panda for the IUCN in 2015; Glatston concluded her study and wrote via an
email interview. There is a structured form to complete which asks for information on distribution,
numbers, threats, etc. Then I looked at criteria for status. The information on red panda suggested

IUCN, and in this case they were accepted (2016). As of April 2015, according to the IUCN, the red

The Violets Gwen Harwood Analysis
The Violets by Gwen Harwood was written during the late 1960s and was published in the anthology
Selected Poems in 1975. As we know, Harwood s poems explore philosophical and universal ideas.
Harwood herself says My themes are old ones of love, memory, experience etc , all of which are
explored in this poem through the use of poetic and language techniques.
Literally, the persona of the poem is outside when some aspects of the nature around her, like violets
and a blackbird, trigger a memory from her childhood. The poem then flashbacks to a childhood
memory of the persona as a young girl, which is shown through the indentation of the stanzas, where
the girl wakes up in the afternoon thinking it is morning and becomes upset when she ... Show more

The memories in the poem maintain a cohesiveness and continuity of experience through repeated
motifs such as the violets and the whistling . Memories also give us a recovered sense of life, as
shown through the final line of the poem faint scent of violets drifts in air . This example of sensory
imagery also creates a rhythmic drifting sense linked closely to the stone curlews call from Kedron
Brook . It echoes images of the speaker s mind drifting into reflection and aurally creates transience
between the present and the past.
Childhood is portrayed as a time of safety that is often looked back upon with nostalgia from an adult
perspective. Monosyllabic words are used to show the simplicity of childhood life, for example in the
line the thing I could not grasp or name . The spring violets are in their loamy bed and are no longer
frail and melancholy, and the memory takes place on a hot afternoon in contrast to the cold dusk that
represents the present. Childhood is represented as a joyful, vivacious time in one s life, and the value
of a stable family life is conveyed. The unexpected integration of Australian vernacular in the line it
will soon be night, you goose , adds a sense of freedom and relaxation to the otherwise formal
discourse and more rigid structure of the poem, once again reflects the simplicity and innocence that is
associated with childhood. The use of

The Pangea
Historians have to rely on the work of archaeologists to write the history of ancient North America
because there has not been any solid evidence of written materials. In 1492 they did not use the form
of writing to show possessions, they instead used many forms of symbolic representations. Historians
relied on archaeologists and ethnohistorians to gather ancient artifacts such as bones, baskets, jewelry,
and so forth to tell their story.
In the beginning, human beings lacked access into the Western Hemisphere because North and South
America became detached, known as the Pangea. The Pangea was fractured due to the powerful forces
deep down in earth and it eventually pushed continents apart until the present day. But after two major

A Research On The Service Industry
The service industry has an interesting outlook when it comes to implementing lean ideas; a copious

It is a processing factory, and there s a lot of waste. The basic philosophy doesn t really change.

undeniably risky where in optimistic cases, the project is favourable to both the social and private
stakeholders; but in pessimistic cases, the detriment could become terribly worse. The ultimate choice
then depends on the attitude towards risk of the decision maker but generally, further investigations on
different aspects of the project should be implemented in order to make an accurate decision.
I. INTRODUCTION
The report advises on the possibility of the project related to gains and losses from which many parties
may suffer such as the Australian government, Tasmanian government and labour, WAL, etc. Those
benefits and costs are particularly different among stakeholders.
Generally, the company wants to take advantage of an ideal climate and the currently developing
walnut industry to build up a plantation zone for walnut trees in eastern Tasmania which lasts for 20
years. This WAL s new project is expected to achieve its full capacity after four years operating and to
earn extra revenue from timber at the end of its life.
WAL supports the project as it can cover partly the total amount of Australia s import walnuts which is
as large as 4,000 tonnes of kernels per year. The Australian government prefers to take this into
account along with revenues from tax and subsidies spending in order to allow a subsidised

properties of an unknown compound were determined and used to identify which other groups in the
lab section had the same unknown compound. Using a variety of tests such as determining the relative
solubility of the unknown, its relative melting point, the electrical conductivity of the substance and its
aqueous solutions, its appearance in flame, its reactivity, and the acidity/basicity of the aqueous
solutions, these observations were used to compare with another unknown compound. When
determining the compound s reactivity to hydrochloric acid (HCI), both samples 4 and 12 created a

Samples 6 and 8 had many similar properties to sample 4 such as its solubility, its powdery physical
characteristics, and its relative melting point. However, the results that identified the match was the
compound s reactivity because only samples 4 and 12 had the same reactivity to all three chemical
compounds. Therefore, the reactivity test was conducted again because this property differs from the
others. It was observed that only samples 4 and 12 had a fizzing and bubbling reaction to hydrochloric
acid and no changes occurred when tested with lead nitrate and sodium hydroxide. The relative
solubility test was also used as another confirmatory test because only four groups had an insoluble
compound. Therefore, this test not only verified the similar solubility between samples 4 and 12 but it

Christianity Is True Freedom
While it s true, you are no longer having the Bible shoved down your throat and you ll have more

hinder some fellowships, mutual acceptances, and communities in the world, but so does every of the
religion that makes absolute claims. And by holding to the Biblical absolute truths, the Christians are
exercising church discipline. Accepting everything of the Christian faith is neither narrow nor naïve.

Adam and Eve obeyed God and did exactly as he had planned for them too do. It was up until the Fall,
when our first parents disobeyed God, mankind had true freedom. As soon as they rebelled what God
commanded him, man lost their inherent true freedom; they went against what God had planned for
them. And because of the sin of Adam and Eve, original sin, the consequence of this first sin that is a
transmissible stain with which we were born with, we are all constantly bent towards sinning. We now
sin because we are sinners, because we have a habit, and because the habit has damaged our judgment
and will, (Plantinga, 56). If we have a broken judgment and a broken will, humans cannot obtain true
freedom on our own; imperfection cannot create something a hundred percent perfect or utterly true. It
s impossible. There s good news though! Since Christ died for all our sins, we can obtain this true
freedom, you really (even though you might not think that s what true freedom actually is) looking for.
De Young and Gilbert note, Everything is once again as it was before the fall and even better! for there
will longer be even the possibility of sin in the redeemed, glorified people of God, (124). Surrender to
God and his will and you ll get the true freedom you re longing for. This Developing Christian Mind

Emily Dickinson s Success Is Counted Sweetest Criticism
Jirawoot Sararit (B.A. English Linguistics) 1st Class Honors, SWU, Thailand
Success Is Counted Sweetest Success Is Counted Sweetest is a well known poem written by Emily
Dickinson in 1859. It is obviously seen that the message of the poem is that people who do not
succeed are those who truly understand success for what it is (Cummings, 2013). In other words,
deprivation can lead to greater understanding and appreciation of what people lack. This paper is
composed of three points including how the unity of the paradoxical idea of the poem is presented,
how the poem can be viewed historically and biographically in feminist aspects, and how the central
idea of the poem is responded.
The Unity of the Paradoxical Idea in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, the use of the word nectar‟ along with the word sweet‟ in the first stanza implies
femininity. It can be assumed that there is a message from a woman‟s point of view. According to
history and her biography, Emily Dickinson had modernist ideas that women should have as equal
rights as men which they did not have at that time. In fact, women, especially wives, were treated as
the slaves of men in the eyes of the law even though women can do several duties that men cannot.
Therefore, women started to work and to express their voice. (Leiter, 2007). This background
knowledge can be understood to explain when success „to comprehend a nectar‟ changes to „victory‟
in the last two stanzas. The image of a battle which causes physical and mental pain to the defeated
soldiers (men) is mentioned as „agonized.‟ It is clear that even though men are strong, they still have
weaknesses as shown in the image of losing the battle. It is showed that both genders have
weaknesses. Therefore, both of them should be equal. This feminist idea is considered to be a
dominant one during Emily‟s lifetime.
The Response to the Central Idea of the Poem After reading the first stanza, the central idea of the
poem seems absolutely right to me. The whole poem captivates my attention to realize the value of
what I am deprived. It can be

Women always had to deal with all kinds of situations throughout history. Sex was becoming to be a

Jaws and Jurassic Park Films
Steven Spielberg s Jaws (1975) and his other film Jurassic Park (1993) both contain a major theme of
what makes a successful hero in society. In Jaws, police chief Martin Brody must successfully
eliminate the threat of a Great White Shark from attacking Amity Island. In Jurassic Park, billionaire
John Hammond creates a theme park where cloned dinosaurs come alive, hoping that his ideal resort
becomes a major success. Through the use of film style elements, such as editing and mise en scene,
Spielberg develops Brody s character as a person who must learn from his past mistakes in order to
become a successful hero while Spielberg creates Hammond s character as a man who only sees
himself as a hero of science and technology without realizing ... Show more content on

This contrast in lighting direction is another indicator of the inherent problem with Jurassic Park. The
major use of backlighting on Grant represents the dark side of Jurassic Park as Hammond s plan to
resurrect dangerous animals such as the Velociraptor for entertainment purposes while suppressing
nature is what leads to the park s and Hammond s demise because Hammond can not possibly re
create vicious predators from the past and suppress them in artificial environments for profit.
Hammond did not envision Jurassic Park as a dangerous place or a violation of nature but as a triumph
of scientific research and sees himself as a heroic figure of science. The lighting set up used on Dr. Wu
represents the opposing side to Grant s views on Jurassic Park, which would be Hammond s view. If
Hammond can get the best minds of the cloning field like Dr. Wu to help him realize his dream resort
then he is surely an inspiring figure to the scientific community. Whereas Brody could see the
problems that were literally sitting in front of him and learn from them to become a hero, Hammond
does not even question what he sees and his decision to ignore what others have to say about his
accomplishments only initiate his eventual failure as a role model of science.
In the final third act of Jaws, shark hunter Quint and marine

One example of a qualitative research design might be a survey constructed as a precursor to the paper
towel experiment. A study completed before the experiment was performed would reveal which of the
multitude of brands were the most popular. The quantitative experiment could then be constructed
around only these brands, saving a lot of time, money and resources. Qualitative methods are probably
the oldest of all experimental techniques, with Ancient Greek philosophers qualitatively observing the
world around them and trying to come up with answers which explained what they saw. Some reviews
and metasyntheses of qualitative studies have been done [Barroso and Powell Cope 2000, Field and

The American Culture And Values
Critiquing American Culture and Values: (The Social) Network The emergence of novel forms of
communication in American history tends to produce two contrasting reactions: general acceptance
from society and moral outrage from a limited, vocal portion of the public. As a medium, film was met
in such a fashion with the creation of the Production Code Administration in 1934, designed by
Catholic leaders to uphold their conception of American values. At the same time, the example of
Middletown depicted a rural community incorporating the experience of film into their regular lives,
treating it as entertainment alongside shows at the opera house. Decades later, we see film utilized to
criticize the social impact of emerging communicative methods, including television and social media
in the form of Network (1976) and The Social Network (2010). A method of universal programing, by
which centralized, censored content is broadcast in synchronous to an audience discriminant only by
which of the four major networks they choose to view is the portrayal of television afforded by the
characters aimed to garner the most sympathy in Network. The voices of reason and morality in the

Policy is implemented by raising and lowering the interest rate, affecting the demand for goods and
services from consumers and businesses alike. There are two types interest rates, real rate of interest
and the nominal rate of interest. According to McConnell and Brue, p.146, The real interest rate is the
percentage increase in purchasing power that the borrower pays the lender. The nominal interest rate is
the percentage increase in money that the borrower pays the lender, including that resulting from the
built in expectation of inflation, if any. The interest rate affects both consumers and businesses

this rate is increased, it alters the costs of borrowing on credit, banks availability to loan money,

  • 2. Bob Koch Case Summary I have concerns about Bob Koch s professionalism, communication skills, willingness to contribute positively to the Mobile Library team and his ability to represent the Pikes Peak Library District favorably while on the Mobiles. Background: The Mobile Library department has 1 full time PSA4 (clerk/driver). The full time PSA4 works 5 days a week. While in the office, the PSA4 is tasked with handling billing and ACES for the department as well as restocking and refreshing the backup collection and handling the weeding reports and pull list. I have spread the responsibility for these tasks to the PSS staff members, but find that they are not getting accomplished in a timely manner. It is in the best interest of our department to have the full time PSA4 complete these tasks, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By moving the full time PSA4 to the city route on Saturday, she gained an extra hour of office time. This time is invaluable to the department as it sets the weekday crew up with restocked shelves, finished pull lists and refreshed backup. Timeline: 7/24/15: Bob is on a Personal Improvement plan. Bob was placed on a PIP because while refueling the Mobile Library, he had a verbal altercation with Acorn s Matt Crick and taped a note to Acorn s card reader that said, Fix this damn thing. (note attached) My major concern is that Bob is unaware he is representing the entire library district while out on the Mobile. 10/25/15: The Mobile Library department had (2) 1.5 hour trainings on writing strategic plans. Bob emails his strategic plan to both Alan and myself with the objective: I hope to maximize my individual talents/creative potential; I hope to entertain patrons on the mobiles by punning, giving Don Rickles style insults, to elicit laughter/humor; I give book talks and ask for feedback on books and movies patrons have enjoyed or did not care for. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study draws economic analogies for Heisenberg s Uncertainty principle and concentrates on the 17 largest Investment Banks and the 10 largest Mutual Funds. It tries to quantify the uncertainty and lists the economic mass of every institution from among the two groups and the average economic masses of each group as well. The study was restricted to publically listed Investment Banks and Mutual Funds and the model was not applicable to privately held and boutique banks and also wasn t applicable to hedge funds and other private funds which did not report their Net Asset Value Returns. According to the findings, the economic mass was highest for Goldman Sachs while Toronto Domino Bank shows the least economic mass. When it comes to Mutual Funds, Pimco the world s largest mutual fund had the lowest economic mass; the exposure to the crisis could be the reason behind this. The American Funds Growth Fund of America has the highest economic mass. This study has been able to show that the Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle has implications for financial institutions. For future research, one could look into applying the model for privately held Financial Institutions and those funds which do not report their returns like Hedge Funds. PAGE 5

This report will analyze and discuss the Manufacturing process that begins with procuring raw material (i.e. coffee beans), transporting the raw material to roasting plants, and manufacturing and packaging the end product for consumption by the retail stores. Starbucks has to closely monitor and follow the guidelines of the Drug Administration (FDA), the Department of Agriculture and Occupation Safety and Health Act (OSHA) in order to own, operate, and open new stores. In 2008, Starbucks identified that the majority of its cost and expenses rooted from the distribution of supplies. They have introduced the 3PLs (Third Party Logistics) reducing and eliminated third party venders without creating defects in the short and long run. • 6. Technology And The Loss Of Socially Dependence On Technology Technology has rapidly progressed and has become a big part of everyday life. From cell phones to self driving cars, technology is relied on every day, of every minute. People are starting to depend on technology so much that soon, they will not be able to do anything themselves. Some may say that technology will make life more easier and efficient, but what they may not know is that when people make life too efficient, it can just as easily malfunction and have loopholes. (Add something to transition) Texting instead of talking. Selfies instead of socializing. Screens instead of success. People are too reliant on technology and they do not live in the moment, they do not interact with people face to face, and technology can cause loss of basic motor skills. People have become overly dependent on technology by not being able to live in the moment anymore. For instance, people who are watching a performance are most likely to be on their phones posting pictures about it on social media. As stated by Huffington Post, According to T Mobile, 47 percent of any guided audience text others during a show, while 32 percent engage in social media during a show (Silva 2014). To advance further, a large phone network is saying that a percentage of an audience are not paying attention to the performance and instead are busy on their devices. Instead of enjoying the show they are missing a once in a lifetime experience. According to CNN, The report reveals a dramatic one hour ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. War on Japan Essay through history, man always seems to be at war. In some cases he is the attacker, in others the defender. In both cases, these wars are broken down into two basic elements, the battles that are fought and the individuals who fight them. The elements conflict, courage, fear, cowardice, heroism, victory, and defeat make up the exploits of war we record in our history books. This paper will deal with war, more specifically, a special exploit within one of the most significant wars ever experienced. World War II involved millions of fighting men around the world. What if Army bombers could take off an aircraft carrier? Low tried his idea on Admiral King. King thought the idea had potential so he sent it on to Captain Donald Duncan to turn his plan into fact. This he did, and the Tokyo Raid became fact instead of fiction. The first step in the plan was finding a leader. General Arnold requested Lieutenant Colonel James Dolittle as the man to select the plane and the men for the mission. Dolittle accepted the challenge without hesitation. Arnold let him know in no uncertain terms that he was to be a planner not a pilot. As Doolittle went to work on the project, he saw a lot of problems. First of all, carrier landings were impossible for twin engine bombers. Next, the total air trip was eleven hundred miles. The closest landing area would be in Russia, but Joseph Stalin would not let them land there because he didn t want to be invaded by Japan since he already had his hands full with the Germans. Fortunately, China said it was all right to land there but they said it reluctantly. With these considerations and others, Doolittle determined that the chances of the mission succeeding was fifty fifty. Despite the odds, the decision was made to begin the project. As the first step, despite Arnold, Doolittle wrote himself into the plan as a pathfinder. Doolittle s job during the attack would be to light up Tokyo with incendiary ... • 9. Theme Of An Outsider The Outsiders by S.E Hinton and The Clay Marble by Minfong Ho both center around the motif of being an outsider. The theme of both books is that you are never an outsider when you have friends and family. This is shown through the two main characters, Dara and Ponyboy. While they share similarities, the two are also vastly different. Dara starts her story as a very innocent and hopeful girl. When she arrives at the refugee camp, she says I had the strange feeling that somehow I had finally come back home on page 22. This is showing how even after she lost her home, she still had enough hope to believe she could find a new one. She s also still a young girl. On page 26 he says, I didn t get why we talk about girls in that way, which is showing how even though he s tough he is still young and innocent and doesn t get why his gang talks dirty about women Also like Dara, Ponyboy s archetype changes to The Loner or Outcast and he loses his hope. After Johnny kills a Soc to protect him, they go on the run from the police. They hide out in an abandoned church away from their families and society. On page 63 it says he must have been as homesick as I was showing how Ponyboy wants to go back to his family. Again, this also shows the theme of The Outsiders. Even though he s a greaser and on the bad side of society s view, Ponyboy is really only an outsider when he is without his family and gang. Following Dara, after Johnny s death, Ponyboy becomes The Hero. On page 145 the text states Yessir, I said, I ll try. What s the theme supposed to be on? Anything you think is important enough to write about. And it isn t a reference theme; I want your own ideas and your own experiences . Ponyboy then writes a theme paper based on Johnny s life, letting everyone know what they ve gone through. He has an honorable purpose, allowing him to be The Hero. Ponyboy also faces a great deal of problems, although his are not the same as Dara s. Like her, he is also driven from his home and placed in an intense war. Unlike her, his war is of the social classes and not countries. While Dara must overcome her fears, Ponyboy must discover who he is as a person and who he wants to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Counter Terrorism Laws And Human Rights COUNTER TERRORISM LAWS AND HUMAN RIGHTS The moral rule is not when one is about to kill you, pre empt him and kill him first, but rather when one is about to kill you, do everything necessary in order to thwart his intention. Accordingly, if there is no alternative to killing him, strike first. If there is an alternative other than killing him, thwart his intention without striking first, without killing him. I Introduction Human rights and national security are at times perceived to be at odds with one another. When government officials speak about national security, their arguments rest primarily upon the premise that protecting human rights and civil liberties is at times subservient to protecting national security. In India, the government has passed stringent laws protecting national security and combating terrorist threats, but these same laws cannot pass the test of human rights scrutiny. The international human rights framework, conventions or treaties to which India was a signatory or ratifying party, also justified the limitations on governmental powers. However, the contemporary reality of Indian executive governance demonstrates the weaknesses and inadequacies of the treaties and conventions. As a result, police, military and para military forces continue to violate human rights. This problem underscores the need to develop a culture amongst law enforcement officials that respects human rights as a sine qua non for the preservation of the rule of law. ... • 13. Roman Catholic And Mexican Immigrants Essay Since the United States was created, immigrant groups have been discriminated against due to their religious, ethnic, and/or national origin backgrounds. Possessive investment in whiteness has operated throughout all this time by keeping privileges and resources to certain groups and defining whiteness through the exclusion of others (Lipsitz 4). Through this process of exclusion negative discursive formations have been created around immigrant groups and impacted their levels of assimilation. As a result, there have been many discriminatory practices against immigrants throughout history with variations in how that discrimination is carried out (Dinnerstein and Reimers 104). The two main immigrant groups I am going to focus on are Roman Catholic and Mexican immigrants. In the beginning of American history (and throughout), there has existed a sentiment against Roman Catholic immigrants. Dinnerstein and Reimers give the example of John Adams letter to his wife reflecting his negative perceptions of Roman Catholics and their practices, these same thoughts were shared by many other Americans at the time (17 18). As a result of these perceptions, Roman Catholics were discriminated against and often kept from exercising their right to vote during colonial America. Not being allowed to vote and consequently, not being able to be heard in society intentionally keeps immigrant groups from assimilating into the dominant culture because they are not able to contribute or ... Imagine what the world would be like if the Natives were just alone and no country migrated to North America. Would technology even exist? Would the main weapons be just spears and arrows? Would medicine be invented so people could live long lives without dying of diseases? These are questions that will never have to be answered because the world evolved into a much bigger and better place. The English changed North America no matter what the cost was. Some may argue that the English are the ones to blame for King Phillip s War, but that is not the case here. The Indians did not want change and overall, it did not work out real well for them. In this case, the war was brutal on both sides. The Natives did not change their customs as much as the English wanted them to. By not assimilating to European values and customs, the Natives caused the war over hatred of English values and traditions and made the world a dangerous place to live in. Daniel Richter was the author of Facing East from Indian Country and Jill Lepore wrote The Name of War. Lepore made some very interesting points that will be discussed that can make the Natives look like savages, but the English were not angels either. There are many definitions of law, but nor one can be generally accepted, because with so many types of the law, these definitions cannot cover every aspect of the law properly. Therefore, the law can be simply described as the principles, rules and regulations, created by the state (the parliament) and established within a community. From the history, in the time of Henry II, the law was based only on the customs that were then applied by all other judges all around the country, known as common law. Common law principles created the basis for today s law and helps distinguish between the law created by previous decisions and the law created by legislation. For instance, murder is a common law because it is not defined by the Act of Parliament, unlike theft what is defined by Theft Act 1968. And autobiographies and biographies indeed allows us to look further down the path through the life experiences that great people have achieved. They tell us of the lives of real people, real events and real experiences which have occurred in history. Stories that reflected incidents that were salient in one s life, recounting their progress through the path towards possibly achieving something significant in human history. One of the most significant lines in Angela s Ashes is the introduction, written from the adult perspective of McCourt: It was, of course, a miserable childhood... and worse yet is the miserable Irish Catholic childhood... the poverty; the shiftless loquacious alcoholic father; the pious defeated mother moaning by the fire; pompous priests; bullying schoolmasters... It is his bitter attitude conveyed with the usage of words with negative connotations as well as alliteration of mother moaning and pompous priests to emphasise the suffering he had experienced during his childhood which greatly contrasts with the latter part of the autobiography which uses a good natured attitude to balance the bleakness of his life. This shows his change of outlook towards his past despite the pain he has felt. In both Angela s Ashes and The Story of My Life, their inner thoughts resonated within the readers through their usage of emotive language to convey their experiences. Keller s writing style consists of mainly emotional paragraphs where her inner thoughts greatly reveal how she felt at the time and in turn touches the hearts of the audience further than any novel could. We would sit together of an evening and listen to the inner melodies of the spirit... But in college there is no time to commune with one s thoughts... When one enters the portals of learning, one leaves the dearest pleasures... I am improvident enough to prefer present joy to hoarding riches against a rainy day. I am also going to look at the historical significance of these theories and how they apply to health and wellness in today s health care. The humoral theory comes from an ancient Greek theory that states that the human body is composed of four basic humors. The fundamental concept of this theory states that microorganisms can invade the body and cause certain diseases or even death. Before this theory was accepted many people believed that a disease was a punishment for a person s evil behavior not a medical problem. These three theories differ because they all covered different barriers when it came to treating and understanding diseases. The Humoral theory began with the four elements and the anatomical theory allowed us to take a deeper look into the functioning of the bodies systems. This helped us to learn what was happening in the body, in the body systems and in the organs. Without these two studies we would not have come to the Germ Theory. Even though each theory is different in concept each theory was important and we would not have been able to progress along to the next theory. If we would not have had the germ theory we would not have discovered the need for vaccines or discovered antiseptics. These theories also allowed physicians to learn to look at diseases on a micro (small scale) instead of just a macro scale or big picture. I feel that these theories have led to significant changes in health care over the years. However, the results that identified the match was the compound s reactivity because only samples 4 and 12 had the same reactivity to all three chemical compounds. Therefore, the reactivity test was conducted again because this property differs from the others. It was observed that only samples 4 and 12 had a fizzing and bubbling reaction to hydrochloric acid and no changes occurred when tested with lead nitrate and sodium hydroxide. The relative solubility test was also used as another confirmatory test because only four groups had an insoluble compound. Therefore, this test not only verified the similar solubility between samples 4 and 12 but it also eliminated the other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Christianity Is True Freedom While it s true, you are no longer having the Bible shoved down your throat and you ll have more freedom at this Non Christian college, this type of freedom is not all it is cracked up to be or even true freedom. As discussed in my DCM class, Christianity is not like being in a straightjacket. It does hinder some fellowships, mutual acceptances, and communities in the world, but so does every of the religion that makes absolute claims. And by holding to the Biblical absolute truths, the Christians are exercising church discipline. Accepting everything of the Christian faith is neither narrow nor naïve. Adam and Eve obeyed God and did exactly as he had planned for them too do. It was up until the Fall, when our first parents disobeyed God, mankind had true freedom. As soon as they rebelled what God commanded him, man lost their inherent true freedom; they went against what God had planned for them. And because of the sin of Adam and Eve, original sin, the consequence of this first sin that is a transmissible stain with which we were born with, we are all constantly bent towards sinning. We now sin because we are sinners, because we have a habit, and because the habit has damaged our judgment and will, (Plantinga, 56). If we have a broken judgment and a broken will, humans cannot obtain true freedom on our own; imperfection cannot create something a hundred percent perfect or utterly true. It s impossible. There s good news though! Since Christ died for all our sins, we can obtain this true freedom, you really (even though you might not think that s what true freedom actually is) looking for. De Young and Gilbert note, Everything is once again as it was before the fall and even better! for there will longer be even the possibility of sin in the redeemed, glorified people of God, (124). Emily Dickinson s Success Is Counted Sweetest Criticism Jirawoot Sararit (B.A. English Linguistics) 1st Class Honors, SWU, Thailand Success Is Counted Sweetest Success Is Counted Sweetest is a well known poem written by Emily Dickinson in 1859. It is obviously seen that the message of the poem is that people who do not succeed are those who truly understand success for what it is (Cummings, 2013). In other words, deprivation can lead to greater understanding and appreciation of what people lack. This paper is composed of three points including how the unity of the paradoxical idea of the poem is presented, how the poem can be viewed historically and biographically in feminist aspects, and how the central idea of the poem is responded. The Unity of the Paradoxical Idea in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin with, the use of the word nectar‟ along with the word sweet‟ in the first stanza implies femininity. It can be assumed that there is a message from a woman‟s point of view. According to history and her biography, Emily Dickinson had modernist ideas that women should have as equal rights as men which they did not have at that time. In fact, women, especially wives, were treated as the slaves of men in the eyes of the law even though women can do several duties that men cannot. Therefore, women started to work and to express their voice. (Leiter, 2007). This background knowledge can be understood to explain when success „to comprehend a nectar‟ changes to „victory‟ in the last two stanzas. The image of a battle which causes physical and mental pain to the defeated soldiers (men) is mentioned as „agonized.‟ It is clear that even though men are strong, they still have weaknesses as shown in the image of losing the battle. It is showed that both genders have weaknesses. Therefore, both of them should be equal. This feminist idea is considered to be a dominant one during Emily‟s lifetime. The Response to the Central Idea of the Poem After reading the first stanza, the central idea of the poem seems absolutely right to me. The whole poem captivates my attention to realize the value of what I am deprived. It can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Jaws, police chief Martin Brody must successfully eliminate the threat of a Great White Shark from attacking Amity Island. In Jurassic Park, billionaire John Hammond creates a theme park where cloned dinosaurs come alive, hoping that his ideal resort becomes a major success. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This contrast in lighting direction is another indicator of the inherent problem with Jurassic Park. The major use of backlighting on Grant represents the dark side of Jurassic Park as Hammond s plan to resurrect dangerous animals such as the Velociraptor for entertainment purposes while suppressing nature is what leads to the park s and Hammond s demise because Hammond can not possibly re create vicious predators from the past and suppress them in artificial environments for profit. Hammond did not envision Jurassic Park as a dangerous place or a violation of nature but as a triumph of scientific research and sees himself as a heroic figure of science. The lighting set up used on Dr. Wu represents the opposing side to Grant s views on Jurassic Park, which would be Hammond s view. If Hammond can get the best minds of the cloning field like Dr. Wu to help him realize his dream resort then he is surely an inspiring figure to the scientific community. Whereas Brody could see the problems that were literally sitting in front of him and learn from them to become a hero, Hammond does not even question what he sees and his decision to ignore what others have to say about his accomplishments only initiate his eventual failure as a role model of science. One example of a qualitative research design might be a survey constructed as a precursor to the paper towel experiment. A study completed before the experiment was performed would reveal which of the multitude of brands were the most popular. The quantitative experiment could then be constructed around only these brands, saving a lot of time, money and resources. Qualitative methods are probably the oldest of all experimental techniques, with Ancient Greek philosophers qualitatively observing the world around them and trying to come up with answers which explained what they saw. • 35. The American Culture And Values Critiquing American Culture and Values: (The Social) Network The emergence of novel forms of communication in American history tends to produce two contrasting reactions: general acceptance from society and moral outrage from a limited, vocal portion of the public. As a medium, film was met in such a fashion with the creation of the Production Code Administration in 1934, designed by Catholic leaders to uphold their conception of American values. At the same time, the example of Middletown depicted a rural community incorporating the experience of film into their regular lives, treating it as entertainment alongside shows at the opera house. Decades later, we see film utilized to criticize the social impact of emerging communicative methods, including television and social media in the form of Network (1976) and The Social Network (2010).
