Thomas Keller Research Paper
Chef of all Chefs: Thomas Keller
Thomas Keller is the one and only American chef to receive more than one three star rating from the
Michelin Guide. Keller has numerous awards and recognitions for his talent within the food world. He
is not only an amazing chef, but he is a revolutionary one. Keller says his cooking style is an
evolutionary process in that it is always growing and changing much like the world. Thomas Keller is
a very, very successful chef given that he didn t attend any special, high priced culinary schools to
learn what he knows or get to where he is now compared to the countless number of people that do go
to culinary school and don t get much farther. Keller has opened multiple restaurants that have been

He later began cooking at the same restaurant. Further down the line, in Narragansett, Rhode Island he
took on the job of working at The Dunes Club for Roland Henin. Henin said he had originally hired
Keller to prepare meals for the staff, who were often the daughters and sons of the members of the
club. Henin also mentioned that the staff stopped their incessant whining, or as Henin said bitching , a
few days after Keller was hired as staff chef. Keller was able to gain approval with attention and care
in detail. He cooked with an emotion that just screamed love for his work. That landed him his
upgrade to night saucier, which is right under sous chef. Becoming night saucier led him to learning
the fundamentals of classic cooking. Keller mentions that this was a turning point in his career, he
became very serious about cooking. Keller describes that Henin taught him how the great cooks
operated and that their job also requires the nurturing of people. Keller went on to work for various
establishments in Florida and New York. He then decided it was time to move to Paris in 1983, where
he worked for various Michelin starred restaurants such as Guy Savoy. He returned to New York a
short time later to La Reserve which gained him critical attention as chef de cuisine. He then
cofounded a restaurant with Serge Raoul

The Franchise Relationship Between Aqap And The Al Qaida Core
The franchise relationship between AQAP and the al Qaida core has also caused AQAP to take on
some serious disadvantages in their operations. This display is a good example of how taking on the al
Qaida brand also comes with disadvantages. Some of these groups are reluctant to identify explicitly
with al Qaida due to the risk that open affiliation might make them a target of increased
counterterrorism operations from their home countries. One example of this is the increased use of
drone strikes in Yemen by the US, which many authors claim is directly connected to AQAP s
affiliation with the al Qaida network. This identification can be said to have weakened the AQAP s
organization as a result of its increased targeting by foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

From these, the goal is to determine the applicability of the term franchise terrorism in order to judge
whether or franchise terrorism is an appropriate description to describe the expansion of contemporary
terrorism. The US Federal Trade Commission defines a franchise as: a business arrangement which
allows for the reputation, (goodwill) innovation, technical know how and expertise of the innovator
(franchisor) to be combined with the energy, industry and investment of another party (franchisee) to
conduct the business of providing and selling of goods and services. It classified these business
operations with three legs : (1) The franchisees goods and/or services are to be offered and sold under
the trademark of the Franchiser; (2) The franchiser requires the franchisee to make a minimum
payment of $500.00 or more, and; (3) The Franchiser maintains significant control of, or provides
significant assistance to, the franchisee s operation method. The three legs described in the
Commission s policy document is used here to measure the symmetry in relations to al Qaida s
expansion. Ironically, under US law, al Qaida would not be considered a franchise. (1) Goods and
services are offered and sold under a franchisers trademark There is no doubt that the al Qaida brand is
worth a lot. Jessica Ward describes, in terms of benefits, joining al Qaida comes with strengthening

The Process of Photosynthesis and Practicals
Introduction One of the most important bological processes on earth is photosynthesis. Plants that
comprise the majority of the food we consume need photosynthesis in order to produce life sustaining
energy. This energy is harnessed by the sun. If it were not for photosynthesis to capture and use this
vital energy, life itself would be minimal or almost non existent. Photosynthesis entails a process that
involves complex and fundamental actions that occur in plants, algae as well as some bacteria. They
use sunlight to produce carbohydrates. Oxygen is then created from carbon dioxide (CO2) and water
(Jackson, 2008). The carbohydrates created through photosynthesis enables growth and normal
functioning for the plant to sustain life. Here is an example of a formulation of photosynthesis by
Campbell et al. Light 6CO2 + 6H20 6 (CH2O) + 6O2 Chlorophyll (Campbell et al. 2009) Chloroplasts
are the main place for photosynthesis to occur in plants occurs. Chloroplasts are important organelles,
and can be found within plant cells. The structure of chloroplasts are complex networks of sacs. These
are called thylakoids. Chlorophyll. located within the membranes of thylakoids, give color to plants
(Campbell et al. 2009). Cholrophyll is a key component in allowing most photosynthesis. Chlorophyll
a and chlorophyll b are the two forms within chlorophyll. Along with chlorophylls, chloroplasts
contain other photosynthesising pigments. These are called carotene

Priority List for Implementing Supervision Instructional...
The instructional leader must be skillful, effective, and flexible with all instructional supervision
strategies. An enlightened leader provides constructive feedbacks that improve instruction, and
ultimately, student performance; and leads a team of educators to reach their highest potential. Based
on my study of the different strategies, the following is the order of my priority: Critical Friends
Group, Standards Based Walk Through, Peer Coaching, Mentoring, Peer Assessment, Clinical
Supervision, Portfolio Assessment, and Action Research. The criteria used to determine rank of the
supervision strategies was the amount of colleague support provided to encourage instructional
change. The list ranks from effective strategies collaborating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is a valuable opportunity for teachers to learn from teachers, reflect, question, support, and share
knowledge. The invaluable process needs to increase professional growth.
Limitations:
Although there are more reasons why Standards Based Walk Through is an effective approach there, is
one flaw that stands out as a concern of mine. Colleagues do not get the opportunity to observe the
students in active learning. Unfortunately, this approach only allows the team of teachers to see the
end outcomes and rely on how the teachers reflection of the activities presented during the walk
through.
Mentoring, Peer Coaching and Peer Assessment:
These three effective supervision strategies are remarkably similar in the sense of gaining new ideas
from colleagues, non judgmental and no evaluations to complete. Simply, teachers helping teachers
and both parties involved may improve teaching ability. The strength is in the teacher to teacher
interaction of all three of these approaches to push thinking forward which will assist in the
improvement of teaching.
Limitations:
Unfortunately, in all three approaches there s slight bias relating to the observer s own beliefs about
teaching.
Clinical Supervision:
This process respects teachers and builds relationships between leader and teacher. Together, leader
and teacher establish the purpose for the observation and determine how the leader can assist with
supporting the responsible professional. The instructional

The Problem Of West Mendham
In theory and in practice, it is always a dangerous idea to look the other way in order to fulfil one s
own selfish needs. It is even more dangerous when a casting body of authority decides to turn a blind
eye because they perceive the benefits to outweigh the cost. In a nutshell, this is what the town
decision makers of West Mendham are dealing with. They are blinded by short term gains and thus
fail to see the long term effect of the agreement made with Pyle Associates. This is not to say
development is not a good idea for the town of West Mendham because it is. However, with
development comes more risk. A risk which the town of West Mendham is willing to undertake in
order to achieve short term economic gains.
Of course building a floodwall shows that the town of West Mendham have a clear understanding of
the risk the town faces as opposed to not having a floodwall. The construction of the wall will have
both positive and negative impact. Nonetheless, the immediate advantage of the wall will be to protect
the inland side of the wall from flooding. This type of floodwall is also best for areas like West
Mendham where space is limited. In an event of a flood, the walls will serve as a sustainable
mechanism to help reduce the impact of flooding and building damages would be limited. These are of
course some positive aspects of the floodwall, assuming its construction.
However, the construction of the floodwall comes with potential undesirable risk and additional

The Secret Life Of American Knee Short Story
The Secret Life of Aiden Sneed Let s just start out by clarifying that I am not normal. I am partly

like my teacher, Aiden, Aiden do your work. That is just one example of my daydreams. It started out
like any original day. I woke up to my mom telling me to get ready and I started to get ready. Like any
day I was listening to music. All of a sudden I was in the middle of a music video. I heard Silento

The Era Of New And Improved Cultural Identity
It was the decade of new music, new and exciting fashion and the introduction of new and improved
cultural identity. Although this new decade was an exciting and fun time, the threats to our free
country was a real possibility. The threat of Communism came into play, splitting the Labor party and
bringing in the ANZUS treaty to combat that. In addition to that, Australia got involved in the Korean
War in fear of Communism tearing our government apart. Girls donned short skirts and boys donned
army greens, it was the decade of change in Australia and still affects our governmental decisions
today. Retrospect investigates this era of change in depth in this editorial.

Melbourne Olympics, dragging in ratings. I Love Lucy became a national favourite show as well, the

cinemas, became popular; even though the calibre of film making was at a low. People loved the wide
screens, the colour picture, and even the 3D effects at some showings. But not all was digitised, for
some wholesome backyard fun, young kids became infatuated with hula hoops and comic books and
going to the beach to tan. It was a much more fun era in the 50s than it is now. Kids nursed wounded

Freezing Point Depression Lab
The purpose of this lab was to determine the molecular mass of a compound by measuring the
freezing point depression. Freezing point depression is one concept discussed within this experiment,
additionally, in class too. Freezing point depression is a colligative property, which refers to one that
depends on the number of particles in a given volume of solvent, rather than on the chemical nature of
the particles. Another concept applied to this experiment is the cooling curves, which for a pure
solution does not plateau when the phase change occur, rather the rate at which the temperature
decreases becomes slower. The cooling curve for the pure solvent, on the other hand, has a plateau
because there is no solute within it that affects the temperature. ... Show more content on

Political Importance Of Gandhi
Reflection 3
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an important figure in the history of South Asia of the twentieth
century, Based on your readings, assess the political importance of Gandhi and compare Metcalf`s
approach with that of Jalal and Bose.
In the time of colonization, emerged a great number of political and religious figures that have had a
profound impact on the people of India, many of them are to this day remember as national heroes.
Perhaps the most famous of them all was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who albeit being targeted
by controversies by some historians, has been a hero for the Indian community.
Gandhi was very different form the other leaders of that era, He was not just a political figure but also
a humanitarian and spiritual leader, He was called Mahatma which means Great Soul .One with an
uncanny ability to connect with a common man which is perhaps why his movements had such a good
following. One other thing which distinguished Gandhi was the fact that his ideology was not limited
to a single community or country. His commandments of non violence and peace could be applied
anywhere in the world and would`ve been just as effective. One such example is of Adul Ghaffar

Lianyungang China Book Report
Life and times working in Lianyungang China
Many Americans are currently working in China, about 70,000 in mainland China alone. Most are in
the medical or education field and are in the larger, more Westernized cities such as Beijing or
Shanghai. My story is a little different. Mine is one of a FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics)
inspector for FSE (Fiberglass Structural Engineering). The simplest way to explain to most people not
in the industry is to refer to it simply as Fiberglass Inspector (and NO not the pick stuff in your attic). I
was working at a facility located in Lianyungang which is located in the Jiangsu province of Eastern
China. Located about halfway between Beijing and Shanghai. Lianyungang is mostly an industrial
city. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I started researching what the local attractions were. I read about a famous story that was written by
Mr. Wu Cheng en in Ming Dynasty, Journey to the West, which is originated in Lianyungang. Part of
this story takes place on Huanguo mountain. Huanguo mountain was located not very far from where I
was staying. As it appears in the book it is a mountain inhabited by demons and monkeys. And while
there are a few monkeys to be found along the way, demons were (thankfully) notable in their
absence. In my journey to the top of the mountain I found many interesting things to see. There were
temples, homes, and wonderful scenery. Once I reached the top of the mountain there was a statue.
The best interpretation I got was that it was equal to what we would refer to as an angel. It had many
ribbons tied to it. The ribbons are tied to the symbol by a person asking for good fortune. There was
also a centralized monument that many young people were stilling under playing some sort of card
game. Off to the side there was a marker that marked the very top of the mountain. As I was admiring
the marker I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was a young girl, probably around 18 or 19. She was with a
couple friends. She asked, in broken English if she and her friends may take a picture with me. I said
of course you can. It was then that I realized that not only was I admiring all the attractions, I became
one. Once I was done with the picture session I found an older gentleman that had a monkey. As I
approached him he pointed at my cell phone and was giving me a take a picture gesture. He proceeded
to place the monkey on my hand a take a picture. I tipped him went on my way. This was one of the
most amazing days that I was in

Anatomy Of A Rumor Daniel Goleman
Psychologist Daniel Goleman explains in his article Anatomy of a Rumor: It Flies on Fear that anxiety
is the driving factor for the spread of rumors, and that people who fall victim to them should use
contrary evidence to disprove the rumor.
There are too many examples of rumors to list, but Goleman selects a few to demonstrate the ample
variety in which rumors come. Goleman explains that rumors are a kind of opportunistic information
virus (487), which spread because of the anxiety they evoke in people. Rumors hold some level of
emotional value and can help people feel more in control of an otherwise tumultuous situation. It is
common to want an answer to something unknown, and rumors can offer a proposed explanation. The
most quickly spread rumor is the one containing content that is cause for concern, because sharing the
rumor can be comforting to the one repeating it. The emotional importance of a rumor separates it
from regular gossip and causes it to be spread more expeditiously. ... Show more content on

Beyond interviews, researchers can derive a false rumor in order to determine how different types of
rumors are spread, and to determine the demographic spreading those different rumors. The language
of the designed rumor is very specific, as both denotation and connotation are critical components of
how the rumor will be taken and spread. Referring back to the notion that rumors are flared and
sustained by anxiety, Dr. Rosnow, a psychologist at Temple University, found that the likelihood of
someone spreading a rumor directly correlated with the likelihood of that person falling victim to the
rumor. If a woman hears a rumor about something that could not conceivably happen to her, she is
much less likely to repeat that rumor than if it were about something that could easily happen to

Asylum Seekers Oral Persuasive
Refugees Oral persuasive
In my opinion I strongly believe Refugees should always be welcome in Australia, everyone deserves
a safe and comfortable place to live and grow up in. Many in our society disagree on Refugees and
asylum seekers coming into Australia, but others would say everyone deserves something. Imagine
being in a refugee or asylum seekers shoes , imagine being sexually abused or living in a poor,
unhealthy environment, you d want to come to Australia to wouldn t you? Everyone deserves
something that makes them look forward to tomorrow
My first reason to why refugees should always be welcome is, how badly some get sexually abused or
assaulted, how poorly they are treated and are seen as things instead of humans. picture this, you a five
year old child, the village has been raided, your family have been killed except your uncle and one of
your sisters, she marries an older man, whom she does not love but needs safety and security... this is a

Collegiate Athlete Argumentative Essay
Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence (Vince Lombardi).
Collegiate athletes have the best chance of success in college, because they constantly get pressure
from the coaches to get good grades, won t have any debt after college because they are on full
scholarship and playing sports helps builds social network.
Coaches keep players on their toes by staying on them every second of the day to keep their grades up.
If coaches didn t stay on their players about their grades, then they will be lackadaisical about their
school work. Coaches and players have a hand and hand relationship, players feed off their coaches
enthusiasm. Everyday in practice and workouts there is not a day where our coaches don t speak on
grades, tutors or even establishing a relationship with our professors. As an athlete grades are

Against Mandatory Drug Testing
Drug testing applicants, as well as recipients, on welfare has been an ongoing debate for multiple
years. Many have argued that if an individual has to be tested to get a paycheck, others should be
tested and screened to receive a federal check of financial aid. Those individuals who are recipients of
the welfare program should be drug tested nationwide to eliminate the problematic spending of
taxpayer dollars. Since 1971, this type of testing has been used for military purposes, in the work
force, and has recently been incorporated into state welfare laws. With this addition, controversial

Analysis Of The Second Sex
I n today s society, the human body is placed on a pedestal for the world to critique. Both women and
men are seen as individuals that are supposed to act, dress, and look a certain way. If they falter, they
are seen as strange and sometimes called names; this is especially true for women. According to
society, man is woman s better half, and many philosophers have shown interest in this correlation.
Beauvoir, in her book The Second Sex, she talks about how women are the other and are seen as being
less than men are. Also, Young explains in her paper, Throwing Like a Girl, how men and women
approach certain obstacles differently. Along with Young s, paper a company called Always made a
promo #LikeAGirl and put into practice what Young states in her paper. Though these philosophers
and company have tried to push for woman equality, other companies, such as Hardies, have stopped
their efforts. So why do we see women as the lesser half? It is because, how we see the human body,
particularly women, is in direct correlation to where and how we are raised. Before you can describe
what the difference between men and women is, you must first understand what it means to be a
woman. As Beauvoir explains in her book The Second Sex,
Everyone agrees there are females in the human species; today, as in the past, they make up about half
of humanity; and yet we are told that femininity is in jeopardy ; we are urged, be woman, stay woman,
become woman. So not every female human being

Why People Commit Crimes In America
The government federal state has a lot of monitoring to do because this state has the most people in
prison. This is ironic because this country is called the free country. Over 25% of the population in
prison are in the United States. This means that we need to set a boundary about what to do and how
to help these people not to commit crime. Maybe America is America because of all the slaves that
were kept captive. Maybe they just were in a bad position to do anything and gave up so they resorted
to committing crimes. We the people must help these group of people get better and not commit
anymore crime. Criminals may happen sometime but having 25% of the prisoners in the US is too

people will stop committing crimes. Crimes are really popular in the US because they know that they
will be in jail for only a certain amount of time and they have people in there to live with. The
criminals also know once they are out they will avoid doing their mistake. But we need to stop the
people who are raised badly and fix them on the spot. Prisoners should have a talk with the world or
whoever wants to listen about their story on how they got in jail. This is because they instantly regret
everything they did wrong and try to fix it right away. Another thing is that people need to learn how
to give and not always take from others. For example say you are a wealthy man/women and you see a
homeless man on the street give him like one dollar or something because you don t know how long
he has been starving and why the homeless are on the street. Everyone has a backstory on how they
got there. Homeless might have a backstory of being in the war and he got shot and he lost everything

some conns that come with these dating sites too mostly with the men. Some guys on the site can turn
out to just be plain rude or maybe even psycho paths. It s never safe to judge a book by its cover that s
why when using some of the dating s sites its best to go on the first couple dates in a public place until

Examples Of Value Chain Analysis
Value Chain Analysis
Value Chain Analysis is a tool that used to identify the company s primary and support activities that
can creates value for the product to the customers, to analyze the activities to be cost leadership or
differentiation strategy and eventually to develop a competitive advantage and create shareholders
value. By simply explaining of creating value, a company takes raw inputs (timber) and to add value
(designing and manufacturing) to them by converting them into something of worth to people for
paying money for it (furniture).
In book Competitive Advantage of Michael Porter, he introduced the idea of generic value chain
model in 1985. The value chain comprises a sequences of internal activities that a company performs
to design, produce, market, deliver and support (after sale services) the product. Value chain activities
consist of (1) primary activities are directly involved in adding value through transforming raw input
to output, delivering and offering after sale services on the final product and (2)support activities are
internal company function that support primary activities and indirectly add value to the products. By
looking into both activities, the company can identify their competitive advantage and disadvantage.

Track Research Papers
The first modern Olympics was held in Athens, Greece, in 1896. The first foot races were held at this
event. We now refer to these exciting races as track. The races consist of sprinters, middle distance,
and distance runners. The races can range from 100 meters all the way up to 10,000 meters. All of
these runners have different jobs and roles on their teams. A great deal of precise and dedicated
training goes into their workouts. Despite the distance they run, track runners are extremely hard
workers. One type of runner in track is the sprinter. The original Olympic event know as the stadion
race, was a sprint of around 180 meters. Now there are generally three different sprint distances. These
consists of the 100 meter, 200 meter, and the 400 meter dash. Most elite level sprinters train about 20
hours a week for races that are just seconds long. They have to train on the track, in the weight room,
and in the kitchen. Michael Johnson and Tyson Gay are two very talented runners that ran for USA.

rest days and two sessions every day. Long distance runners lose gallons of sweat every week, so
staying hydrated is very important. Mohamed, Mo, Farah is the most famous distance runner in the

allocation was negative. Prior to FY03 the allocation was made as a net of all three investment earning
components and the pool kept a net asset value of $1.00. Market values did not fluctuate as a result.
The portfolio was bifurcated in FY03 with one portfolio having a longer duration than the other two

Abstract The utilization of PC systems for information transmissions has made the need of security.
The security of this intuitive media data should be possible with encryption or information concealing
calculations. To diminish the transmission time, the information pressure is necessary. Since couple of
years, an issue is to attempt to join pressure, encryption and information covering up in a solitary
stride. Picture security turns out to be progressively critical for some applications, e.g., secret
transmission, video reconnaissance, military and therapeutic applications. These days, the
transmission of pictures is an every day routine and it is important to locate a proficient approach to
transmit them over systems. They send Secret message over channel utilizing Cryptography and
Steganography calculations by AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). It is utilized to scramble the
information from plain content to figure content the other way around. There are two sorts of keys
accessible in the cryptography, symmetric and asymmetric. There are utilizing symmetric key which is
separated into two key, for example, private and open key. Open key is utilized for encryption and
private key is utilized for decoding. The reversible information concealing method is utilized to

Boeing Scrambles to Repair Problems with New Plane
Boeing Scrambles to Repair Problems With New Plane Layers of Outsourcing Slow 787 Production;
Hostage to Suppliers By J. LYNN LUNSFORD December 7, 2007 EVERETT, Wash. On Tuesday,
Boeing Co. will give Wall Street a progress report on its 787 Dreamliner, as it scrambles to overcome
a six month delay in producing the new jet. A look inside the project reveals that the mess stems from
one of its main selling points to investors global outsourcing. When the Chicago aerospace giant set
out four years ago to build the fuel sipping jet, it figured the chief risk lay in perfecting a process to
build much of the plane from carbonfiber plastic instead of aluminum. Boeing focused so hard on
getting the science right that it didn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The plan calls for suppliers to ship mostly completed fuselage sections, already stuffed with wiring
and other systems, to Boeing facilities around Seattle so they could be put together in as few as three
days. Existing production methods can keep a plane the size of the Dreamliner in the final assembly
area for a month. But many of these handpicked suppliers, instead of using their own engineers to do
the design work, farmed out this key task to even smaller companies. Some of those ended up
overloading themselves with work from multiple 787 suppliers, Boeing says. The company says it
never intended for its suppliers to outsource key tasks such as engineering, but that the situation
seemed manageable at the time. We tended to say, They know how to run their businesses, says a
Boeing executive familiar with the company s thinking. Now Boeing is hostage to the suppliers, and
there s very little they can do about it, says Tom Wroblewski, president in the Seattle region for the
International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which was critical of all the
outsourcing. Despite the start up problems, Boeing and its suppliers still say they believe this new
method of developing planes is the model for future projects. Once the production line is running
smoothly, they argue, it will be more efficient and profitable than existing construction methods. 2

Henry Chadwick Sabermetrics
In 1858, Henry Chadwick, the father of baseball , created the box score. This compilation of names,
numbers and abbreviations was one of the first attempts to document and summarize a game of
baseball. Chadwick would go on to create statistics like batting average (AVG) and earned run average
(ERA), two statistics that every baseball fan is familiar with. These statistics are the foundation of
Sabermetrics, advanced analytics that aim to evaluate players and quantitatively measure their
performance.
The term sabermetrics is the combination of two terms; saber comes from SABR or the Society for
American Baseball Research and metric, a standard of measurement. Starting in 1977, Bill James

The team that can score and prevent runs the best will win. And while this may sound obvious at first,
this is fundamentally what Sabermetrics tries to analyze and predict. Which players are offensively
accounting for the most runs, and defensively putting their teams in a position to prevent runs.
As mentioned before, batting average (AVG) is a stat that defines many batters. A batting average over
.300 (30 percent of at bats (AB) end up in hits) would imply that a player is an above average hitter. A
.400 average has long been considered one the ultimate goals of batting, and also something that is
becoming unfeasible in modern baseball (the last time was in 1941). However, while many players are
defined by this number, it is incredibly flawed.
For example, we can look at Josh Donaldson of the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2015, he had a batting
average of .284, much higher than the league average of .255 (According to ESPN stats and
information). However, if we use conventional thinking, we might think that Josh Donaldson is just an
above average hitter, not the superstar that finished fourth in the AL MVP race. This is because batting
average does not account for walks and treats every hit the same. In short, Sabermetrics changed this

The reason for this is that the deductible for hurricane related damage is typically a percentage of his
home s value, and can be quite high in some cases, in our case it is $14 000, it is 2% from the home s
value (for 2006 $648 390). Another extremely important point is that hurricane coverage is generally
limited to wind damage, and thus does not cover damage due to a possible storm surge or subsequent
flooding. As such, Joe Martinez will need to purchase flood insurance if he wish to be fully protected.
Finally, given the potential for water intrusion during and after a hurricane, he should check to see if
he is covered for mold damage. Mold can be an extremely expensive problem to deal with, and many
homeowners insurance policies explicitly exclude mold damage, or at least limit the coverage
associated with mold claims.
So, you can see that there are a lot of reasons to buy the hurricane insurance. Analyzing Joe Martinez s
earnings (175 000$ annually), we can say that the total premium for $ 13 000 is quite large amount
(7% of annual earnings). If we will compare this amount with his monthly earnings ($ 14 583) it is

The And Progression Of Schizophrenia
Two Hit Model of Schizophrenia, Discussion, Criticism, and Application to The Onset and
Progression of Schizophrenia
LA14495
University of Maryland Baltimore County
December 2016
Abstract
The purpose of this paper will be to discuss the two hit model of schizophrenia, including what it is,
how it may inform treatment and prevention of schizophrenia, how it applies to schizophrenia for the
duration of onset and progression, and how various primary sources support or challenge the model.
We are finding that despite some inconsistencies between numerous findings and the model, the model
serves as a suitable general explanation of schizophrenia onset and progression.
The two hit model of schizophrenia proposes that disturbances to central nervous system
development, leaves a person exposed to the onset of schizophrenia symptoms caused by various gene
environmental interactions. The disturbances to central nervous system development are the first hit in
the two hit model, and the gene environmental interactions that are able to cause the onset of
schizophrenia in conjunction with the disturbances to central nervous system development are the
second hit in the two hit model.
Schizophrenia is usually grouped into three phases, the prodromal, active, and residual phases.
Usually the prodromal phase occurs during the teen years or early twenties, and most of the time it
occurs before the active phase. There is on occasion, mention of a fourth phase called

Partnerships are usually inexpensive and easy to form. II. General partners have unlimited liability for
all debts. The general partnership is terminated when a general partner dies or withdraws. It is difficult
for a partnership to transfer ownership without dissolving. The advantage is the cost of getting started.
The disadvantages are: 1) unlimited liability, 2) limited life of the enterprise, and 3) difficulty of
transferring ownership. These three disadvantages lead to 4) the difficulty of raising cash. 5. the
corporation: limited liability, ease of ownership transfer, and perpetual succession are the major
advantages; Disadvantage: government taxes corporate income. 6. agency costs: the cost of resolving
the conflicts of interest b/w managers and shareholders are special types of costs. Residual losses are
the lost wealth of the shareholders due to divergent behavior of the managers. 7. G. Donaldson
concluded that managers are influenced by two basic motivations: I. survival. II. Independence and
self sufficiency: this is the freedom to make decisions without encountering external parties or
depending on outside financial markets. The Donaldson interviews suggested that managers do not
like to issue new shares of stock. Instead, they like to be able to rely on internally generated cash flow.
III. Therefore, the basic financial objective of managers: the maximization of corporate wealth.

K-Protoping Essay
2.1 The k Prototypes Method Data clustering is a method used to group items into different clusters.
The items in same cluster are similar and the items in different clusters are dissimilar. Huang (1998)
introduced a k prototypes algorithm that allows for clustering objects with mixed numeric and
categorical attributes. The k prototype algorithm can be used to cluster a large portfolio of the VA
contracts with mixed numeric and categorical attributes. We define a large portfolio that contains n VA
contracts as X=(x ⃑_1,x ⃑_2,x ⃑_3,...,x ⃑_n). We denote the ith contract in the portfolio as x ⃑_i.
Attributes of each contract are classified into numerical attributes and categorical attributes. Assuming

We call the contracts that belong to a cluster a member of that particular cluster. The k prototype
algorithm can update the cluster memberships γ_i^((0))given the centroids, and it can update the
centroids given cluster memberships. This process is repeated until some conditions (explained in
step1.4) happened. This process includes the following steps, Step 1.1: Initialize the centroids K
distinct contracts are randomly chosen from the portfolio as an initial centroid, which is μ ⃑_1^((0)),μ
⃑_2^((0)),μ ⃑_3^((0)),...,μ ⃑_k^((0)). Step 1.2: Update the clustering memberships Then, the
clustering memberships are updated γ_1,γ_2,γ_3,...,γ_n as, γ_i^((0))=argmax┬(1≤j≤k)⁡
〖 D(x ⃑,μ
⃑_j^((0)),λ)〗, Where D(.) is the distance function. Step 1.3: Update the Centroids. The centroids are
updated at this step as, μ ⃑_jh^((1) )=1/C_j ∑_(x ⃑∈C_j)▒x_h ,h=1,2,3,...,d_1 μ ⃑_jh^((1)
)=mode_h (C_j ),h=d_1+1,...,d where C_j={x ⃑_i∈C_j:γ_i^((0) )=j} for j=1,2,3,...,k and the mode_h
(C_j ) is the value of the hth categorical attributes, which appeared most frequently. The hth attribute
can take different valuesA_h1,A_h2,A_h3,...,A_(hm_h ).The f_ht (C_j) is how many times the hth
attribute equal to values A_ht,t=1,2,3,...,m_h, which is, f_ht (C_j )=|x ⃑∈C_j 〖:x〗_h 〖=A〗_ht

Propaganda On The Latest War Essay
Whether it be the drawing on a piece of paper promoting propaganda on the latest war, a McDonald s
commercial on TV, or the 15 second wait before a Youtube video, advertising is everywhere. And
advertisement does not only accompany the idea of pulling in potential buyers like most people think,
but the motive of advertising can also extend to many more serious topics, such as politics. In a
political debate, the promotion of advertisement is crucial in gathering a crowd that will lead a
presidential candidate for the chance to become the leader of the United States. But how does one
make an ad so appealing that it is able to convert someone s thoughts to the ones the advertiser wants
them to think? While there are many ads that fail in illustrating the perfect picture, there is a vast
number of them that are successful. Throughout the 2016 Donald J. Trump for President ad, In Donald
Trump s America, the contrast of visualizations, appealing sound choices, and the use of language are
effectively portrayed to develop a strong argument that in the 2016 election of Donald Trump versus
Hillary Clinton, Clinton is unsuitable for presidency. In almost every political advertisement, using
contrast of visualizations between politicians is crucial in trying to persuade more citizens in the
United States for their vote. But how do they do it? In the advertisement, In Donald Trump s America,
there are a few different methods to how they demonstrate a positive representation of

The Life Of A Volunteer Job
Barry s POV
As I woke up from my all night food coma I woke up in my armor and decided to wear a simple
jogging outfit consisting of a wife beater and some dark sweat pants.
As I ran I pondered what I should do in this universe. I ran a couple miles until I ran past a hospital
next to a retirement home. Smart move there. I backtracked remembering how my father was a docter
and how I always loved helping people.
I made up my mind as I chose to enter the retirement home first to apply for a volunteer job, I figured
that not all of the elderly relish their time left on Earth and some have nothing really left for them here
and wish for the rest they ve earned. So killing two birds with one stone I could work here and release

Powering up the phone I activated it and it gave me my number. As I rushed back to the retirement
home I saw Tiffany was gone I signed my phone number and left.
As I walked out my clothes changed to a dark shirt regular leather jacket, jeans and boots. As I walked
the streets of this National City I saw the life flourishing around me until I noticed something odd.
When I saw one person I always saw their life force flowing inside them but on one person I saw
something weird. What I saw was their life force being drained by and small, invisible, human like
creature. In an instant I transformed and dashed over calling out my scythes to slash at it only for it to
vanish before me and the man falling limp into my arms. I laid him down banishing my scythes but as
I stood back up I just narrowly dodged a punch to the face by letting it faze through me.
As I rushed away I came face to face with... Kara Zor El better known as Supergirl. As she saw the
collapsed man she put my sudden appearance and his sudden collapsing as my doing, but then I saw
the small human floating behind Supergirl taunting me as I growled in frustration as lightning burst
from me, he began taunting me to catch him. I smirked at this getting into a running position. Then I
looked at the small human mouth something I haven t heard in a long time.
Run. Barry. Run.

Keller says his cooking style is an evolutionary process in that it is always growing and changing much like the world. Henin also mentioned that the staff stopped their incessant whining, or as Henin said bitching , a few days after Keller was hired as staff chef. Keller was able to gain approval with attention and care in detail. He cooked with an emotion that just screamed love for his work. That landed him his upgrade to night saucier, which is right under sous chef. Becoming night saucier led him to learning the fundamentals of classic cooking. Keller mentions that this was a turning point in his career, he became very serious about cooking. • 4. The Franchise Relationship Between Aqap And The Al Qaida Core The franchise relationship between AQAP and the al Qaida core has also caused AQAP to take on some serious disadvantages in their operations. This display is a good example of how taking on the al Qaida brand also comes with disadvantages. Some of these groups are reluctant to identify explicitly with al Qaida due to the risk that open affiliation might make them a target of increased counterterrorism operations from their home countries. One example of this is the increased use of drone strikes in Yemen by the US, which many authors claim is directly connected to AQAP s affiliation with the al Qaida network. This identification can be said to have weakened the AQAP s organization as a result of its increased targeting by foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From these, the goal is to determine the applicability of the term franchise terrorism in order to judge whether or franchise terrorism is an appropriate description to describe the expansion of contemporary terrorism. The US Federal Trade Commission defines a franchise as: a business arrangement which allows for the reputation, (goodwill) innovation, technical know how and expertise of the innovator (franchisor) to be combined with the energy, industry and investment of another party (franchisee) to conduct the business of providing and selling of goods and services. • 5. The Process of Photosynthesis and Practicals Introduction One of the most important bological processes on earth is photosynthesis. Plants that comprise the majority of the food we consume need photosynthesis in order to produce life sustaining energy. This energy is harnessed by the sun. If it were not for photosynthesis to capture and use this vital energy, life itself would be minimal or almost non existent. Photosynthesis entails a process that involves complex and fundamental actions that occur in plants, algae as well as some bacteria. They use sunlight to produce carbohydrates. Oxygen is then created from carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (Jackson, 2008). The carbohydrates created through photosynthesis enables growth and normal functioning for the plant to sustain life. Here is an example of a formulation of photosynthesis by Campbell et al. Light 6CO2 + 6H20 6 (CH2O) + 6O2 Chlorophyll (Campbell et al. 2009) Chloroplasts are the main place for photosynthesis to occur in plants occurs. Chloroplasts are important organelles, and can be found within plant cells. The structure of chloroplasts are complex networks of sacs. These are called thylakoids. Chlorophyll. located within the membranes of thylakoids, give color to plants (Campbell et al. 2009). Cholrophyll is a key component in allowing most photosynthesis. Based on my study of the different strategies, the following is the order of my priority: Critical Friends Group, Standards Based Walk Through, Peer Coaching, Mentoring, Peer Assessment, Clinical Supervision, Portfolio Assessment, and Action Research. This is a valuable opportunity for teachers to learn from teachers, reflect, question, support, and share knowledge. The invaluable process needs to increase professional growth. Limitations: Although there are more reasons why Standards Based Walk Through is an effective approach there, is one flaw that stands out as a concern of mine. Colleagues do not get the opportunity to observe the students in active learning. Unfortunately, this approach only allows the team of teachers to see the end outcomes and rely on how the teachers reflection of the activities presented during the walk through. Mentoring, Peer Coaching and Peer Assessment: These three effective supervision strategies are remarkably similar in the sense of gaining new ideas from colleagues, non judgmental and no evaluations to complete. Simply, teachers helping teachers and both parties involved may improve teaching ability. The strength is in the teacher to teacher interaction of all three of these approaches to push thinking forward which will assist in the improvement of teaching. Limitations: Unfortunately, in all three approaches there s slight bias relating to the observer s own beliefs about teaching. Clinical Supervision: This process respects teachers and builds relationships between leader and teacher. Together, leader and teacher establish the purpose for the observation and determine how the leader can assist with supporting the responsible professional. The instructional ... • 7. The Problem Of West Mendham In theory and in practice, it is always a dangerous idea to look the other way in order to fulfil one s own selfish needs. It is even more dangerous when a casting body of authority decides to turn a blind eye because they perceive the benefits to outweigh the cost. In a nutshell, this is what the town decision makers of West Mendham are dealing with. They are blinded by short term gains and thus fail to see the long term effect of the agreement made with Pyle Associates. This is not to say development is not a good idea for the town of West Mendham because it is. However, with development comes more risk. A risk which the town of West Mendham is willing to undertake in order to achieve short term economic gains. Of course building a floodwall shows that the town of West Mendham have a clear understanding of the risk the town faces as opposed to not having a floodwall. The construction of the wall will have both positive and negative impact. Nonetheless, the immediate advantage of the wall will be to protect the inland side of the wall from flooding. This type of floodwall is also best for areas like West Mendham where space is limited. In an event of a flood, the walls will serve as a sustainable mechanism to help reduce the impact of flooding and building damages would be limited. These are of course some positive aspects of the floodwall, assuming its construction. However, the construction of the floodwall comes with potential undesirable risk and additional ... Freezing point depression is one concept discussed within this experiment, additionally, in class too. Freezing point depression is a colligative property, which refers to one that depends on the number of particles in a given volume of solvent, rather than on the chemical nature of the particles. Another concept applied to this experiment is the cooling curves, which for a pure solution does not plateau when the phase change occur, rather the rate at which the temperature decreases becomes slower. In the time of colonization, emerged a great number of political and religious figures that have had a profound impact on the people of India, many of them are to this day remember as national heroes. Perhaps the most famous of them all was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who albeit being targeted by controversies by some historians, has been a hero for the Indian community. Gandhi was very different form the other leaders of that era, He was not just a political figure but also a humanitarian and spiritual leader, He was called Mahatma which means Great Soul .One with an uncanny ability to connect with a common man which is perhaps why his movements had such a good following. One other thing which distinguished Gandhi was the fact that his ideology was not limited to a single community or country. Most are in the medical or education field and are in the larger, more Westernized cities such as Beijing or Shanghai. My story is a little different. Mine is one of a FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics) inspector for FSE (Fiberglass Structural Engineering). The simplest way to explain to most people not in the industry is to refer to it simply as Fiberglass Inspector (and NO not the pick stuff in your attic). Huanguo mountain was located not very far from where I was staying. As it appears in the book it is a mountain inhabited by demons and monkeys. And while there are a few monkeys to be found along the way, demons were (thankfully) notable in their absence. In my journey to the top of the mountain I found many interesting things to see. There were temples, homes, and wonderful scenery. Once I reached the top of the mountain there was a statue. The best interpretation I got was that it was equal to what we would refer to as an angel. It had many ribbons tied to it. The ribbons are tied to the symbol by a person asking for good fortune. There was also a centralized monument that many young people were stilling under playing some sort of card game. Off to the side there was a marker that marked the very top of the mountain. As I was admiring the marker I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was a young girl, probably around 18 or 19. She was with a couple friends. She asked, in broken English if she and her friends may take a picture with me. I said of course you can. It was then that I realized that not only was I admiring all the attractions, I became one. Once I was done with the picture session I found an older gentleman that had a monkey. As I approached him he pointed at my cell phone and was giving me a take a picture gesture. Anatomy Of A Rumor Daniel Goleman Psychologist Daniel Goleman explains in his article Anatomy of a Rumor: It Flies on Fear that anxiety is the driving factor for the spread of rumors, and that people who fall victim to them should use contrary evidence to disprove the rumor. There are too many examples of rumors to list, but Goleman selects a few to demonstrate the ample variety in which rumors come. Goleman explains that rumors are a kind of opportunistic information virus (487), which spread because of the anxiety they evoke in people. Rumors hold some level of emotional value and can help people feel more in control of an otherwise tumultuous situation. It is common to want an answer to something unknown, and rumors can offer a proposed explanation. The most quickly spread rumor is the one containing content that is cause for concern, because sharing the rumor can be comforting to the one repeating it. Both women and men are seen as individuals that are supposed to act, dress, and look a certain way. If they falter, they are seen as strange and sometimes called names; this is especially true for women. According to society, man is woman s better half, and many philosophers have shown interest in this correlation. Beauvoir, in her book The Second Sex, she talks about how women are the other and are seen as being less than men are. Also, Young explains in her paper, Throwing Like a Girl, how men and women approach certain obstacles differently. Along with Young s, paper a company called Always made a promo #LikeAGirl and put into practice what Young states in her paper. Though these philosophers and company have tried to push for woman equality, other companies, such as Hardies, have stopped their efforts. So why do we see women as the lesser half? It is because, how we see the human body, particularly women, is in direct correlation to where and how we are raised. Before you can describe what the difference between men and women is, you must first understand what it means to be a woman. As Beauvoir explains in her book The Second Sex, Everyone agrees there are females in the human species; today, as in the past, they make up about half of humanity; and yet we are told that femininity is in jeopardy ; we are urged, be woman, stay woman, become woman. Maybe they just were in a bad position to do anything and gave up so they resorted to committing crimes. We the people must help these group of people get better and not commit anymore crime. Prisoners should have a talk with the world or whoever wants to listen about their story on how they got in jail. This is because they instantly regret everything they did wrong and try to fix it right away. Another thing is that people need to learn how to give and not always take from others. LYNN LUNSFORD December 7, 2007 EVERETT, Wash. On Tuesday, Boeing Co. will give Wall Street a progress report on its 787 Dreamliner, as it scrambles to overcome a six month delay in producing the new jet. A look inside the project reveals that the mess stems from one of its main selling points to investors global outsourcing. When the Chicago aerospace giant set out four years ago to build the fuel sipping jet, it figured the chief risk lay in perfecting a process to build much of the plane from carbonfiber plastic instead of aluminum. Boeing focused so hard on getting the science right that it didn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The plan calls for suppliers to ship mostly completed fuselage sections, already stuffed with wiring and other systems, to Boeing facilities around Seattle so they could be put together in as few as three days. Existing production methods can keep a plane the size of the Dreamliner in the final assembly area for a month. But many of these handpicked suppliers, instead of using their own engineers to do the design work, farmed out this key task to even smaller companies. Some of those ended up overloading themselves with work from multiple 787 suppliers, Boeing says. The company says it never intended for its suppliers to outsource key tasks such as engineering, but that the situation seemed manageable at the time. We tended to say, They know how to run their businesses, says a Boeing executive familiar with the company s thinking. Now Boeing is hostage to the suppliers, and there s very little they can do about it, says Tom Wroblewski, president in the Seattle region for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which was critical of all the outsourcing. Despite the start up problems, Boeing and its suppliers still say they believe this new method of developing planes is the model for future projects. Once the production line is running smoothly, they argue, it will be more efficient and profitable than existing construction methods. 2 The companies brought in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Henry Chadwick Sabermetrics In 1858, Henry Chadwick, the father of baseball , created the box score. This compilation of names, numbers and abbreviations was one of the first attempts to document and summarize a game of baseball. Chadwick would go on to create statistics like batting average (AVG) and earned run average (ERA), two statistics that every baseball fan is familiar with. These statistics are the foundation of Sabermetrics, advanced analytics that aim to evaluate players and quantitatively measure their performance. The term sabermetrics is the combination of two terms; saber comes from SABR or the Society for American Baseball Research and metric, a standard of measurement. And while this may sound obvious at first, this is fundamentally what Sabermetrics tries to analyze and predict. Which players are offensively accounting for the most runs, and defensively putting their teams in a position to prevent runs. As mentioned before, batting average (AVG) is a stat that defines many batters. A batting average over .300 (30 percent of at bats (AB) end up in hits) would imply that a player is an above average hitter. A .400 average has long been considered one the ultimate goals of batting, and also something that is becoming unfeasible in modern baseball (the last time was in 1941). However, while many players are defined by this number, it is incredibly flawed. For example, we can look at Josh Donaldson of the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2015, he had a batting average of .284, much higher than the league average of .255 (According to ESPN stats and information). However, if we use conventional thinking, we might think that Josh Donaldson is just an above average hitter, not the superstar that finished fourth in the AL MVP race. This is because batting average does not account for walks and treats every hit the same. In short, Sabermetrics changed this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another extremely important point is that hurricane coverage is generally limited to wind damage, and thus does not cover damage due to a possible storm surge or subsequent flooding. As such, Joe Martinez will need to purchase flood insurance if he wish to be fully protected. Finally, given the potential for water intrusion during and after a hurricane, he should check to see if he is covered for mold damage. Mold can be an extremely expensive problem to deal with, and many homeowners insurance policies explicitly exclude mold damage, or at least limit the coverage associated with mold claims. So, you can see that there are a lot of reasons to buy the hurricane insurance. The And Progression Of Schizophrenia Two Hit Model of Schizophrenia, Discussion, Criticism, and Application to The Onset and Progression of Schizophrenia LA14495 University of Maryland Baltimore County December 2016 Abstract The purpose of this paper will be to discuss the two hit model of schizophrenia, including what it is, how it may inform treatment and prevention of schizophrenia, how it applies to schizophrenia for the duration of onset and progression, and how various primary sources support or challenge the model. We are finding that despite some inconsistencies between numerous findings and the model, the model serves as a suitable general explanation of schizophrenia onset and progression. The two hit model of schizophrenia proposes that disturbances to central nervous system development, leaves a person exposed to the onset of schizophrenia symptoms caused by various gene environmental interactions. The disturbances to central nervous system development are the first hit in the two hit model, and the gene environmental interactions that are able to cause the onset of schizophrenia in conjunction with the disturbances to central nervous system development are the second hit in the two hit model. Schizophrenia is usually grouped into three phases, the prodromal, active, and residual phases. Usually the prodromal phase occurs during the teen years or early twenties, and most of the time it occurs before the active phase. There is on occasion, mention of a fourth phase called ...
