This event also inspired Gilman s work. In this respect, Gilman s Cupid is neither revolutionary
nor ahead of its time. That it bemoans the status of women in society and demands new
opportunities for employment makes this piece more typical than remarkable. That is not to say
that it is trivial. Gilman s book was both topical and significant in 1898. But what s most
interesting in the 1990 s is how her work differs from that of her contemporaries. What makes it
stand out? How is it revolutionary, and why has it been anthologized? To answer these questions,
the reader must follow the work to where the energy in the prose leads. This calls for a close
examination of the most striking feature of her work, the proposal itself.
Gilman s vision is revolutionary, and in some respects, prophetic. She proposes that the domestic
chores of cleaning and nutrition be professionalized. Because they are so important, she argues,
these tasks should be performed by well educated and trained professionals. She suggests that urban
families living in flats and apartments could eat at a central, professionally staffed kitchen. In the
suburbs, several houses could be linked by a kitchen in a similar way (Gilman 217 19).

Theater used in the context of youth ministry is a brilliant strategy for deepening the faith
journey of students. This is because art is a reflection of life. It holds a mirror to that which we

see everyday and presents it in a different light, bringing forward new messages and changing not
only the audience but the performer. Used and approached properly, the performing arts can
expand the mind, strengthen the body, and fortify the spirit. This can be done regardless of the
production or character being portrayed. In this way youth can see what it is to live in the world
and not be of it (John 17:14 18).
The Theology A foundational part of the theology behind the theater department at Corban
University is the belief that we are created in the image of God (Gen 1:26 27). Because of this, we
are blessed with many of his characteristics, one of which is creativity (Gen 1). Since we live in a
world fallen to sin, we as humans are broken. The brokenness leads to insecurity in our gifts, in
our worship and even in our relationships. In participating in a production that reflects the broken
nature of humanity and the redemptive power of Christ, students can participate in that creativity
and grow in practical understanding of theology (Heb 5:13 14). This approach to a foundation
for theater as a ministry is important because it brings us back to the basics of who we are as
children of God (John 1:12 13; Phil 2:15). It also reminds us that God is not just within the box of

Another thing Wal Mart uses is many of their departments are cash wraps. Most of these cash
wraps tended to be things like batteries, gum, candy, and soda. With Wal Mart being such a large
store, many departments also have their own checkout counters that allow customers who are

Ellen Toliver changed in many different ways throught the book. Some characteristics she had in

The article s abstract section did clearly identify the purpose of the research and the article. The
author did specify within the abstract, that they investigated the perception and motivation of
forgiveness. The first sentence also plainly stated the purpose of the article, This cross sectional
study investigated the perception and motivation of forgiveness among 785 heterosexually married

Rules such as staying away from foods that our ancestors wouldn t recognize or contain high
fructose corn syrup. Pollan claims that buying food from farmers solves the complicated issue
of our diets. I don t believe this solves the omnivore s dilemma, it further complicates it. Pollan
fails to define what real food is, if he could have just specifically defined it as an organically
grown or living specimen that contains biological cells, and isn t processed, it would prevent us
from second guessing while shopping for real food. Also, even though we should eat more real
foods, there have been cases of produce being infected with bacteria or chemicals, meat being
injected with chemically made steroids and hormones. Obtaining real food isn t as easy as
reading the food labels or staying away from the center of the grocery store as Pollan describes
it. After observing the potential flaws of Pollan s approach to obtaining real food, I have found
ways of obtaining real all natural food, without over spending or worrying about processed
ingredients and bacteria/steroids. I strongly believe we can achieve this by using traditional ways
of obtaining food, such as hunting, fishing, and house gardening/farming. I myself and like many
others have taken action to obtain real food, food that is 100% natural, food that we know exactly

Concert Review
I attended this concert at CU Denver s King Center, Concert Hall. Although the architectural design
and surrounding did not attest to much artistic creativity, the actual concert was better than my
expectations. I did have lower expectations because it was presented by students instead of
professional musicians or dancers as in my last concert review. The ensemble, a collaborative
outcome from MSU Denver and other dance/cultural musicgroups from denver, was actually a mix
of African and Indian/East Asian music and dance. The two teams alternated between each other
giving the audience a great deal of contrast of movement and sound. My favorite were the second

They presented a story of a goddess teasing a boy with a magical ball, then throwing it into a
pond where a monster is asleep. The boy then awakens this monster trying to reach the ball. The
story is meant to encourage people to face their fears and fight for what they want. I liked how they
used the same movements when they were describing the story before starting their performance
